20 questions for fic writers
tagged by the wonderfully kind and lovely @coraclavia. If you haven't checked out her work, go do it right now!!
1. How many works do you have on Ao3? 19
2. What’s your total Ao3 word count? 354,235
3. What fandoms do you write for? The Rookie!
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Beneath Your Beautiful... queue Isn't it ironic by Alanis Morissette 😬
Want You to Stay
However Do You Want Me
One Time Thing
Lucy's Little Secret
5. Do you respond to comments?
I absolutely try to, but sometimes I get behind. Tbh I usually want to respond the minute I see one come in, but don't want to scare anyone lmao. But I read every single one, often multiple times. And you might just get a response from me two years later 😂
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Oh man... I think this has to be We Built Sandcastles, because I have yet to give it an ending and it hurts me too. I'm so sorry. 😭
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I'm gonna go with However Do You Want Me... what's happier than banging on an airplane to save the world?
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not really... thankfully, 99.9% of the interaction I've had on my fics has been positive and that's a testament to how wonderfully supportive this fandom is of its creators 😭
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Yup... the horny kind? Lol... queue Lovin on Me by Jack Harlow. I am pretty vanilla, and I do usually focus a lot on the emotional aspects over the physical. I also generally prefer writing the foreplay over the actual tactics of banging, but I try.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Lol... well... one time when I was 13 I may have written an AU where Justin Timberlake and Nick Carter were normal boys attending the same high school 😂...
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Thankfully, I don't think so!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
I don't think so, but any time someone does comment on one of my fics in another language, I am just honored and blown away that they found it entertaining enough to work through the language barrier.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes! Want You to Stay with the amazing @poppypickle. I will always be so thankful that the Chenford fandom brought us together, and so grateful for that creative experience. Truly one of the coolest things I've ever done. ❤️
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
I think Chenford still holds this crown.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
We Built Sandcastles, but I actually haven't written anything I've truly given up on. I still think about this universe and write down bits and pieces here and there. I'm also still working on Beneath Your Beautiful!
16. What are your writing strengths?
Weird reality TV AUs? Sexual tension? Feelings?
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Probably too much exposition / time in the character's heads spelling out their motivations vs. letting readers come to their own conclusions.
I'm not always consciously aware of it in my own writing, but sometimes I suspect I'm a little sappier than what I'd normally I prefer to read.
Also I'm slow and sometimes leave my readers hanging for extremely long periods of time (I'm so sorry).
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Depends on the context, but, for me, I'd have a hard time without a native speaker to consult with. No strong feelings against it though.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
BSB + NSYNC
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
I'm going to go with one I haven't mentioned yet, which is Cruel Summer because that fic was utterly batshit, came out of literally nowhere, and was so much fun to write!
--
Thanks for the tag, Cora!
I am tagging @poppypickle @queseraone @goodgirlssayiloveyoutoo @rememberthismomentx @thisnightissparkling089 @makeitastrength and @summerongrand (apologies if y'all have already done this and I missed it)!

Twenty Questions for Fic Writers
Tagged by @staceymcgillicuddy @cyraclove and @bibiche007 thanks guys 💛💛💛
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
32! I can't believe it!
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
420,197 which is insane!
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Stranger Things, hellcheer specifically
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Long Is the Road Out of Hell (dnd au)
The Interview (college/fake dating au)
Hold Onto Me (vampire au)
Cooking Up Something Sweet (rockstar social media au)
Waiting For This Moment (flower shop/tattoo parlor au)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes! I try to respond to every single comment! They took the time to give me a comment, why wouldn't I take the time to thank them for it?
6. What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
That's tough, because I always try to give hellcheer a happy ending - they deserve it! But Release My Inner Fantasy, despite being almost purely smut, definitely has the angstiest ending. (although it might be slightly cheating since it is part of an ongoing series, and I do intend to give them an eventual happy ending)
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Again, I love to write happy endings! So most of my fics are very happy at the close. But Hooked on a Feeling might be my most sappy-sweet ending. It's definitely one of my more lighthearted fics!
8. Do you get hate on fics?
honestly, no! the hellcheer fandom overall has been very kind to me. the closest I get to hate on fics is people wishing/asking me to do something different than I've already done (i.e. write an alternate ending because they didn't want A or B in it), which can be very discouraging. but I don't get that a lot!
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I do! However, I had never written actual smut in my life until this year, so I'm still pretty new at it
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
Not really. The closest I've ever gotten to a crossover is crossover elements loosely integrated in a fic. Devil in the Woods, for example, uses bits and pieces from things like little red riding hood and beauty and the beast while remaining very much its own thing!
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of! And I'd very much like to keep it that way
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
i don't think so! but i'd be honored if somebody did
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I haven't, but I have a lovely friend who betas for me on occasion and we bounce ideas back and forth so much it sometimes feels like cowriting ( @slumped-in-the-arms-of-fiction )
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
hellcheer, if you couldn't tell 😉
15. What's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
I intend to finish every single wip I have going atm (As well as a few on the back burner lol). but sometimes it feels like i'm never going to finish them, especially when i'm on the very last chapters. why does it always work like that???
16. What are your writing strengths?
I feel like i'm pretty good at writing intimate scenes. and by that i mean scenes where not a lot's going on, where a small group of characters (usually two) can be together or have a conversation that doesn't do much for the plot but sheds a lot of light on the characters themselves (both to the readers and within the story between characters)
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I'm very undisciplined with writing habits, i don't write every day or have certain goals. i struggle to describe people and scenery in a concrete way that is integrative with the story itself.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
find a native speaker and get (and listen to) their feedback. whether it's tenses, phrases, or cultural tendencies, let someone who's actually the expert be the expert.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
hellcheer! unless you count me scribbling in my journal when i was about eight, writing a boxcar children story because i'd heard that they employed ghost writers and i thought "i could do that!" i wrote like half a dozen sentences, convinced i was going to become employed by the boxcar children publisher.
20. Favorite fic you've written?
honestly? probably Devil in the Woods. it's the one i go back to the most when i need a comfort read.
Tagging @slumped-in-the-arms-of-fiction @sloelimbs@ebongawk and anyone else who wants to join!

2024年7月19日 — Just starting out (again); What do I have to work with?
As someone who's been trying to learn japanese on and off for over a decade it's always a challenge to come back to it, especially after a longer break. This is the position I find myself in currently since I haven't seriously tried improving my skills or immersed myself for a few years now.
Granted, I never quite got to the point where I could naturally immerse myself in japanese on any level even when I was actively practicing, but I knew a lot of basics. When I decided a couple weeks ago to see just how rusty I had gotten it was clear that I needed a good repeat of nearly everything before I could even think about progressing. I'm sure many others that habitually cycle through different hobbies can relate to how frustrating and sad it can be to have to relearn concepts and skills that were no match to your previous self. I also have the bad habit of letting go of things when I don't feel that I progress "fast enough" (I am in no rush, this is purely a standard that arbitrarily set for myself) which adds another layer of difficulty whenever I have to start over with the basics again.
Because of these reasons I've really tried to take the time I need and make sure that I absorb everything before moving on to something else. I've honestly had a lot of fun relearning even the most surface level concepts, and I think this sort of repetition that I've been required to do be able to progress is something that I really lacked when I've been trying to learn previously. Granted, letting go of the language completely for 2+ years isn't necessary. But I think going forward that I will make a bigger effort to backtrack whenever I feel a little unsure of something and repeat concepts until every part of it feels solid.
Hiragana & Katakana (sort of)
So far a lot of my time has gone toward practicing hiragana until I'm completely confident in my reading abilities again. Something new that I've done this time, embarassing as it is to admit, is to go through every character's stroke order and learn them that way. Previously I haven't given stroke order much thought. This is mostly because I don't even write that much by hand in swedish/english so it didn't seem that important to me at the time (I know, I know...). Another reason is that I am left-handed. I haven't seen this ever be discussed that much so I don't know if this is just something I struggle with, but I find the correct stroke order to be difficult to write with using my dominant hand. But yes, this time I've made an effort to actually learn the characters the right way! I must admit that I still find it to be a clumsy way to write left-handed (and sometimes I still cheat, forgive me) but I must admit that practicing hiragana (more recently kanji) as steps that must be done in a specific order rather than just little pictures to memorize (I did practice writing them previously as well of course, I just kind of improvised the way I did it) has made the characters stick way quicker than they did previously.
A video that really helped me with stroke order, and generally making my hiragana look nicer and less "fonty" is this one by the channel ToKini Andy! It's a nice, long video of him and his (native japanese) wife going through each of the hiragana where he first draws the character and then she corrects any mistake he makes (which I think are very common mistakes to make, I related to many of them) and shows how she draws the same character. From what I gathered she is a calligrapher, so her handwriting might be a bit fancier than the average japanese person, but I still think it's a very good video. Andy himself stated that he has been writing hiragana for 12+ years, so regardless of where you are in your journey I would recommend checking it out!
Before moving on I'd like to quickly mention katakana: I haven't practiced katakana nearly as much as hiragana. This isn't because I don't think katakana are important, but not as immidiately mandatory as hiragana. While hiragana are necessary to know for every other step of learning japanese; katakana is something I can practice slowly over time, either actively or passively. The app I've been using to practice kanji also lets you practice katakana, so I've gone over them a few times on there (practicing stroke order as well, bonus), especially the ones I'm less confident in, and I will probably do this every now and again to make them stick.
Currently I have made way more progress than just hiragana, but this entry ended up being very long so I won't detail every single thing I've crossed off my list. Instead I'm going to list off the resources I've been using, and also what I think the next steps on my journey are going to be!
My resources
My physical resources at this moment is my (very old) Genki 1 text book, a very cheap grid notebook, and my Goodnotes 5 app (I'm going to have another section with the apps I use, but it felt better to group goodnotes with the rest of my notetaking things? Even though it isn't a physical resource... Oh, well). The cheap notebook is just for writing practice. I don't like combining my nice looking notes with my practice scribbles so I need a pressure free space to just scrawl as much as I want. I use goodnotes to make more put together notes where I go over concepts and write down anything I learn in detail for future reference. I didn't get the app for this purpose, I've had it for a long time and used it for all sorts of studies and hobbies. I'm not using any particular template for this purpose either, I've been using the normal grid template.
App-wise I started a bit with duolingo, mostly when I was practicing hiragana. I got annoyed at basically everything with the app very quickly though (surprise!) and decided to look for something else. At the moment this is what I have downloaded:
HeyJapan – This app is in the "duolingo-category" of language apps but it's just for japanese. It's a little janky but I like it way more than duolingo. I haven't used it as much as the other apps though, mostly because I've been using my Genki-textbook to structure my learning and it felt confusing to have two different sources at the same time.
Ringotan – This is the app I've been using to practice kanji! I've actually loved it. First you pick a source to base your lessons on (you don't have to own any of the sources to use this app, this is mainly so that if you own a textbook you can practice kanji as they appear in the chapters you're studying); I chose Genki. Then you get lessons with groups of kanji based on the source you picked! The lessons consist of drawing the character using the correct stroke order with less and less guides as you progress. There's also a "Custom Review" option where you can freely pick which kanji you want to practice. This app has been great for me in particular. Since I've decided to repeat everything from the beginning (down to the concept of XはYです) I've actually used the app to study ahead in the textbook. This keeps me from getting bored while going over and reminding myself of simple concepts, and also means that I already know the kanji when I get to a new chapter in the book.
Shirabe Jisho – A dictionary. This is just the first dictionary I found when looking for recommendations, and it's been great for me so I haven't tried any other. You can search by english, romaji, hiragana and kanji. When looking at words you get direct links to the different kanji in the word, their stroke order and ON/kun-readings. Just a great dictionary!
Time to finish off this beast of a journal entry with my steps going forward. As it stands currently I have two main goals: 1. Relearn verb-grammar 2. Methodically work through the entire Genki textbook. When I last stopped actively practicing my japanese I had a pretty good grasp of the different groups of verbs and how to conjugate them. Grammar-wise I feel like that's the next big step to allow me to write more in japanese. As for the Genki textbook; I've owned this book for a long time, and I've probably read through most of it at least once. But I haven't actually ever used it in an effective way, mostly because I'm not the greatest at organizing my studies. Because of this I've made a section of my japanese notebook in goodnotes an index/checklist of the different chapters and their contents. As I'm studying a chapter I'll write down any important concepts, notes and examples in goodnotes. I'll also practice any concepts I feel shaky on, and when I feel good about a section I can cross it off the checklist. This lets me see exactly what I need to do next, and will give me a good backlog of detailed notes to look back on whenever I need to remind myself.
Hopefully this method will stick, and otherwise I'll just have to adjust it and find a way to make it work for me. But other than that I have nothing to add so:
さようなら!

Fic Writer Interview
@energievie tagged me in this, and it looks like a fun way to pass the time... so while I'm waiting for it to be midnight so I can post my New Year's exchange fic -- here we gooo!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?  98 (as of January 1st, 2024. I'm counting tomorrow's fic today because by the time most people on my dash see it, it'll be next year. 😂)
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?  396,868 words (as of midnight; 386,482 prior to midnight tonight).
3. What are your top 5 fics by kudos? They're all RWRB, sooooo:
What's Symbiotic Will Always Be [E, 2.6k words; 1.2k kudos]
Take it Down Low / Make Me Get High [E, 2.1k words; 1k kudos]
In the Low Lamp Light, I Was Free [E, 3.1k words; 798 kudos]
I'd Wanna Be Felled By You, Held By You [E, 2.3k words; 766 kudos]
On My Mind (Let's Go) [E, 10.7k words; 704 kudos]
More questions (there are 20 total!) and a blank version of them below the jump!
4. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? I try to at least reply with an emoji if I can! But generally, I try to match the energy of the commenter. I really enjoy hearing from people about my work and want to make sure they know I appreciate them for taking the time to leave their feedback.
5. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending? Oh jeeze, we'll have to harken back to pre-therapy Mags, well before 2023, for this question. (Current Mags has had a ton of therapy.) Probably I Stole Away and Cried [Supernatural RPF, M, 5.7k words]?
6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending? I am a lady who loves a happy ending. I'm going to nominate So I Will Weather the Storm [Red, White & Royal Blue, E, 9.8k words] for Happiest Ending in a Mags Fic.
7. Do you write crossovers? I used to write fics with elements of both Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel the Series, but I feel like that... doesn't really count. I also cross canons in the Red, White & Royal Blue fandom... but again it feels like it doesn't count.
8. Have you ever received hate on a fic? Absolutely. The early 2000s were a volatile time on the internets, as we fandom olds say.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? AHAHAHAHA wait, you're serious. Um... M/M, with a pocketful of kinks thrown in for flavor? My Kinktober 2023 [Red, White & Royal Blue, E, 92k words] series is a good place to get an idea of what sort of smut I write.
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not to my knowledge, but I haven't been on Fanfiction.Net in approximately 15 years, and don't have a Wattpad account, so... who knows!
11. Have you ever had a fic translated? I don't believe so? But that might be fun.
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Many moons ago, I used to co-write fic in the Glee fandom. I was one of the authors of the Kurtofsky IMs, for those of you who are in the know.
13. What’s your all-time favorite ship? Don't do this to me, fic writer interview! Umm... probably either Steve Rogers/Bucky Barnes or Jim Kirk/Spock. And no, I've never written anything for either of them. But I've read both voraciously.
14. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will? No comment. Because I don't wanna jinx it. Seriously. I haven't even started posting it because I don't want to jinx it.
15. What are your writing strengths? Smut, lol. Quirky, bantery dialogue. Making @hgejfmw-hgejhsf cry (complimentary, I think??).
16. What are your writing weaknesses? Finishing multichapter WIPs. 😐 Outlining -- I'm very much a "do what the characters want to do" sort of writer.
17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? I'm generally down if I have a reputable source for any translation! I speak English and German fluently, but when it comes to Alex's Spanish in my RWRB fic, for example, I rely heavily on online lexicons and people who actually speak the language natively.
18. What was the first fandom you wrote for? Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
19. What’s a fandom/ship you haven’t written for yet but want to? Nope, not even thinking about other fandoms because I go where the dopamine goes, and I don't want to redirect the dopamine before I finish the fics on my Big Giant List.
20. What’s your favorite fic you’ve written? Written and published? Be Worthy Love, and Love Will Come [Red, White & Royal Blue, rated E, 30.8k words]. Written and not published? The Big Giant AU [Red, White & Royal Blue, rated E, wordcount still growing].
Want to play along? Blank version below!

20 Questions for Fic Writers
Thanks for the tag @theresthesnitch! This looks like the perfect distraction right now.
Username: TracingPatterns
1. How many works do you have on A03?
122 works across all fandoms.
2. What’s your total Ao3 word count?
1,021,394
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Mainly Harry Potter, mostly Marauders.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Playing with Fire
Of Quiet Hearts and Thundering Dreams
Wilder than Mountain Thyme
Countdown
Hungry Moon
5. Do you respond to comments?
I try! It might take me a while but I do always try to respond to all comments that I get.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Oh dear, this was actually a pretty difficult choice. Many of my fics are quite angsty now that I think about it, but if we disregard the canon stuff, I think I'd say As The Tide Pulls.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I have a lot of fics with happy endings too. I'd say that most of my long fics end happily, but I think I would pick Wilder than Mountain Thyme just because I feel like it ends with hope and possibility.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Sometimes, but really not all that much. I did once have someone write a whole 'clapback fic' (their own words) based on one of my fics though so that was... interesting.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Er, yes? I mean. Absolutely yes. All kinds? Seriously, I mostly write M/M sprinkled in with some M/M/M. I love to write kink so I do that a lot, but there's some 'vanilla' stuff in there too.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
No, never.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Someone once told me that one of my fics had been copied onto Wattpad as part of some sort of collection but by the time I went to look at it, it seemed to be gone. So. Maybe?
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I have! I've written wonderful things together with my friends and I love, love, love co-writing. It's so much fun!
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
I think I have to say Wolfstar just because it's the one I keep coming back to again and again and again. However, I do have a very soft spot for a lot of other ships as well.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I have so many ideas and my absolute aim is to finish most of them. However, I think the one I'm furthest away from completing is the one I started for the candyheart challenge last year.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I don't know. Smut maybe 😅 I feel like other people can answer this question better. I think I'm pretty good at working out plot holes. Most of the time that's a good thing, but sometimes it makes me get stuck on silly details. I'm good at angst too, I think.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Writing scenes with more than two people is a constant struggle for me. I think humour is another weakness, crack fic is not my thing.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I think that's fine, and I've definitely done it, but I'm quite picky with how to use it. Also, always ask for help from a native speaking. Google Translate is not your friend.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Lord of the Rings (but those are looooooong gone, I can tell you that much).
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
This is an impossible question and I honestly don't know. I am honestly proud of a lot of fics that I've written. But alright, to be honest I think it might be a tie.
Wilder than Mountain Thyme because it's the most self-indulgent thing I have ever written. I poured my heart into that fic, and I'm really proud of the world building and the characters.
over blackened water because I think this is one of the best things I've written and I keep making myself cry whenever I re-read it.
Open tag - if you want to do this then please do! But I'm also passing on a no-pressure tag to @heartofspells, @puuvillaa, @mundrakan and @soloorganaas. I'm sorry if any of you have already done this and I've missed it!

oh!!!! happy 100k words wfrau!!!!!!! she's getting bigger (<- like you would speak of a puppy). how long is it supposed to be & how far along are you? and also... would you like to share a snippet you like (from any chapter ofc... no pressure if no it's completely understandable)? what do you enjoy the most about writing it? bc it seems like you're having fun & it's so nice to see someone enjoying a hobby so openly online... especially writing... there's this conception that writers don't actually enjoy writing (the whole 'forcing myself to write' bit) and i'm curious to hear your perspective on it!! also!!!!!! i hope moving will be easy & fun & the world will be kind to you with the change <3 i keep telling myself 2 read marx but i can't find any good translations to my native language and reading it in english is making my brain go grgrgrgrgr like an air conditioner on its last leg so alas it might have to wait... so true for liking iced drinks they're really the best!! i've heard someone say it's childish but i think they just live a very miserable hot life in the august heat drinking their hot coffee instead of putting some ice cubes in it :) it's funny you say that about fav line because it's definitely my fav fic of your writing & the ending of it is soooo beautiful i get back to it every time i need to feel something!!!!! that song line is beautiful too omg... and well the weather is hell everywhere at least the world is all suffering together :( i hope the atmosphere isn't suffering too much :/ honestly i am a big 'i would rather be hot than cold' believer because i am from a hot country so i know how to deal with the heat but you know what i'm sure the chill can also be intriguing to some... not me though... i hope the winter will be kind on you <3 thank u for letting me invade ur ask box i am creating myself a room here for now i think. anyway. love and hugs!!!! <333
hello!! she is indeed getting bigger <3 if i had to guess right now i'd say i'm maybe...possibly nearing the halfway point of the fic, plotwise? but honestly it's really hard to say lol. i've got 2 more story arcs to cover in part 3 (plus finishing the current one), and then part 4 is gonna have like...2 or 3 story arcs as well, plus an epilogue. so it just depends on how long it takes me to cover all that ground!
and yeah i'm having a lot of fun writing!! i know what u mean abt the whole "ugh writing amirite" bit that writers do lol and i'm sure i do it sometimes too...i mean i think tone varies a lot and many people who complain about writing still really enjoy the activity, but i do think there is sometimes this self-flagellating tendency amongst some writers to act like writing is meant to be this strenuous, emotionally draining activity like ur...idk sisyphus w the stone or something, and if you're writing something 'easy' or 'fun' you're somehow a lower caliber of writer than those who Nobly Suffer for their art, etc...which i think is dumb lol. suffering doesn't inherently make art any better or more noble
& thank u 4 the well-wishes w moving!! i'm mostly nervous about getting to my flight on time lol i have to go into work the literal day before i leave and then catch a train across the country at 5am the next morning 2 get 2 the airport...not going 2 be fun so i'll take all the well-wishes i can get !!
sorry 2 hear u can't find marx in ur native language :( it's hard enough 4 me 2 understand reading in my first language i cannot imagine trying 2 parse it in a second language...maybe it might be easier 2 find one of his (or engels') shorter texts 2 read? capital is a monster but i started off with a few shorter pieces ('socialism: utopian and scientific', 'principles of communism', 'wage labour and capital,' 'value price and profit') which i found helpful! also there are lots of secondary resources of other people breaking down + explaining marx's work; maybe there's a good source in your native language that could give a summary/overview of capital? there's no one right way 2 learn, it's just abt finding what works best for u!!
iced drink supremacy 4ever truly <3 me myself & i we can only enjoy a hot beverage if it's very cold outside...otherwise i am simply thinking well why would i do that 2 myself... & thank u!! happy 2 hear u like the lines!! v happy w them v proud <3 & also appreciate the well-wishes re: weather i cannot relate 2 the hot-weather preference i much prefer cold...or at least i used to i grew up in a relatively cold climate but then i moved south 4 university so at this point i'm going on 6 years of living in what is categorized as a "humid subtropical climate" & i think my winter tolerance has been all but destroyed it hardly ever drops below freezing...but hot&humid weather is still my least favorite i think i would prefer icy-cold winter + mild summer but i will be actually putting that theory 2 the test this year so!! who knows maybe my hubris will be my downfall...
& of course!! u are welcome 2 stop by + chat anytime...in my heart we are drinking iced beverages 2gether <3 also as requested here is a snippet from ch 14:
“Don’t,” he tells her, firmly, “Don’t say that. I don’t—want you involved. If they ever did anything to hurt you…I wouldn’t be able to live with myself.” She stares at him, eyes ablaze. “And how do you think I feel? Knowing that they only pick on you because—” her voice falters, cracking, “Because you’re with me?” Her lip is trembling again, tears threatening to spill over from her eyes. Sirius shakes his head, helplessly, at a loss for what to do.

『Heisenberg and S/O in Austria』
Tumblr media
anon asked: Helloo if your requests are open! Because i have an idea! A Heisenberg with his not-from-the-village S/O ( it could be gender neutral, how do you like it ), a post-miranda one-shot that Karl slowly accustoming to the modern world with the help of his S/O. They moving to the Asutria, a place where his lineage belongs to, living and travelling here. I wonder how Karl would felt with experiencing, discovering and travelling about both his homeland and outside world? I also would like to read a portayal of Austria, by the hands of an Austrian! Have a good day!
a/n: omg yes I'd love to!!!! I'm so happy you actually want me to write about my heisenberg headcanon, thank you *tears up*
▩━━━━━━━━━━━━◈━━━━━━━━━━━━▩
pairing: Karl Heisenberg x gn!Reader
type: sfw | one-shot
tw: none
▩━━━━━━━━━━━━◈━━━━━━━━━━━━▩
He thought he was dead. He thought you were dead too. But both of you weren't. You were alive, hidden somewhere in the woods around in the village.
He was happy to see you, happy to see you weren't hurt and didn't get killed by the bitch. And even more he was happy the bitch herself was dead now. But that meant he lost his home too, his factory, all his experiments.
Did he like? Not really, but he could care less at the moment. You two were on the way to the nearest town, wanting to take the train to his rightful home — Austria. And this thing called train and those called cars fascinated him.
He was like a little child. You had to hold hands with him otherwise he would've ran off to inspect those new and strange machines. Once in the train Heisenberg had finally found the peace he needed the last few days. Not even five minutes after the click clack of the rails started he had fallen asleep, his head resting on your shoulder.
Everyone who passed you two looked judging into your direction. No wonder with Heisenbergs choice of clothes. You two really should go shopping for up-to-date clothing once you arrive at your destination.
He didn't like that idea. He liked what he wore so why was there a need to change it? Even though you explained the reason to him with logical arguments he still wasn't a fan of the idea.
Arriving in Vienna, the capital of Austria, was a real culture shock for him. Hundreds of people ran around the central station, trying to catch their trains. And they didn't care about the others, not even apologising for running into you or him. It surely took all his might to not scream at them out of anger or even let his powers be seen, which you strictly told him not to do.
Finally being away from the crowd that made him so uncomfortable he caught his breath, lighting a cigarette for the first time in almost a day. His eyes scanned the outside area while he waited for you to come back with the food and drinks you were going to get.
Being back he got startled by the food you were holding in your hands. You held the two weird looking white and red boxes, their lid was missing and a fork had been inserted into the food.
"What the hell is that?", he said, pointing with his cigar at the food-boxes.
"It's the cheapest I could get. It's rice with meat and vegetables. It's really good, trust me!"
Unsure about your opinion of what is good he took one of the boxes and took a bite. Much to his surprise you were right — it did taste good! He ate all of it quicker than you could even say the name of what he was eating, being happy he finally ate something, more or less, proper.
After you two ate you made your way to the subway, only nearly catching the one driving to your destination.
"What does that mean?"
You looked at him in awe.
"Those words the lady says, what do they mean?"
You realised he meant the announcements that were heard every time before you held at a station.
"She's just saying what station we are and which side we'd have to go out."
For a second you forgot you were the only one of you two being able to understand German, your native language.
Heisenberg didn't say anything anymore. He carefully listened to every announcement, trying to get a glimpse of words he might understand, but he failed.
"Can you teach me?"
"Teaching? You mean if I can teach you German?"
He nodded.
"I can try but it's not easy..."
"Please, (name). It's the language my ancestors have spoken, the one I should have spoken if I wouldn't have been dragged into hell."
Looking into his eyes you knew he was serious, you knew he really wanted to learn it.
"Okay, I'll try. But no backing up if it's too hard for you!"
Heisenberg took your hand into his, giving it's back a kiss and thanking you for being so kind.
After you two arrived at your destination — your home — you didn't give him the slightest chance to catch his breath and relax, dragging him into the bedroom and starting to undress him.
"Babe, I didn't know you were in the mood!"
A smirk appeared on his face, enjoying the sight of you unbuttoning his shirt.
"Shut up. I just want you to try some clothes my father gave me. After all you can't walk around like this!"
Being unhappy with what you had planned he still did as you said, trying on the, what seemed like thousands of pieces, clothes your father had given you.
"Your parents, where do they live?"
You looked at him in awe, raising an eyebrow.
"In Lower Austria, to be exact in Maria Dreieichen. Why?"
"Was just wondering... When do I meet them?"
Being shocked of he said you let the pants in your hands fall to the floor.
"Was it wrong to say that?"
"No no! It's just... I didn't imagine you to actually wanting to meet them."
"Why wouldn't I?"
"Because you are you?"
"Ouch!"
Faking pain he held his hand at his heart. You rolled your eyes, telling him to stop playing around and finally finish trying on the clothes.
....
Months had passed since you and Heisenberg had fled from the village and arrived in Vienna. Much to your surprise he pretty quickyl adjusted to the circumstances, even having met your closest friends and parents already. But only seeing Vienna wasn't enough for him. He wanted to see more. He wanted to see all of the culture of his home land. And so you two did.
You drove around Austria and visiting the cultural sights. Starting with going on the Wiesn in october, then visiting various castles and monasteries, visiting the museum village Niedersulz and much more.
Sometimes when you looked at him you thought you could see tears building up in the corner of his eyes, but you were too afraid to ask him. You didn't want him to think you didn't like his sentimental side nor did you want him to hide those feelings. In fact, you were happy to see him finally meet his true home and his culture and so was he.
Next to seeing all those sights and landmarks he improved his German, talking in dialect all the time. You were like a proud mother every time he managed to talk with people in yours, and now his, native language.
You were happy to see him finally being able to be himself. To be able to slowly start forgetting the pain and hell he lived in for almost his whole life. But even if he started forgetting it, it never really went away. You often caught him having nightmares, waking him up because he was moving so much in his sleep, sweating and mumbling words all the time. It pained you to see him like that.
With all your heart you hoped he'll completely forget his past life in the village, so did he.

I was tagged by @prince-rowan-of-the-forest! Thank you very much! 🥰 You can find their post here!
1: How many works do you have on Ao3?
92 as of yesterday 😎
2: What's your total Ao3 word count?
223,014 words
3: What fandoms do you write for?
Right now just Sanders Sides, though I have unfinished stories for both Kingdom Hearts and South Park and I am thinking of participating in a Professor Layton Big Bang.
4: What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Clyde can't handle that his best friend keeps secrets from him (South Park) - 496 kudos
After months of silence (South Park) - 254 kudos
Lookout (South Park) - 242 kudos
Always (Sanders Sides) - 184 kudos
Logan Tries Something New (Sanders Sides) - 179 kudos
I'm actually surprised that there are two Tss fics here, I was sure that they hadn't caught up to my South Park stories 😅 Apparently they have a lot more hits but aren't that far ahead in terms of kudos 🤔
5: Do you respond to comments?
Yes! I actually feel kind of weird when I don't do it... And I always like getting answers to my own comments 🥰
6: What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Oof, that's a hard question... I mean, it depends from which perspective, right? One of my South Park fics, I'll Give Up Everything For You, ended with Hell invading earth but the main characters are the instigators and happy together, while they doomed their town.
Then I have a few Hurt No Comfort stories like Who's the Liar Now? or Rare Lies Hurt The Most, though they're both quite short.
I guess the one with the most ambiguous and hurtful endings are appropriately closely named: Cursed (Dukeceit Werewolf story) and Cursed Woods (Roceit with forceful separation at the end).
7: What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Again, that's hard because that's most of them 😅 But without thinking about it too much, You're Not Alone an Intruloceit story with lots of hugs and comfort and a christmas party at the end 💙💛💚
8: Do you get hate on fics?
One time I got a comment telling me to kill myself under a South Park fic but apparently they went around commenting on a bunch of fics with that particular ship, so it wasn't really targeted at me. That was the only thing that I've got over the years.
9: Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I don't, but maybe someday 🤷‍♀️
10: Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
I don't and I don't really like reading them either with very few exceptions.
11: Have you ever had a fic stolen?
If so, I'm not aware of it.
Question 12 has been lost to the ether...
13: Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I haven't, but I'd like to try someday ^^
14: What's your all-time favorite ship?
Considering that I just wrapped up the 4th ship week in a row for these dorks, Intrulogical all the way 💙💚
15: What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
How to manipulate a rebellion, a South Park story that I still very much like but I'm not active in the fandom anymore and have so many other stories I want to work on, so I doubt I'll ever get back to it... 😞
16: What are your writing strengths?
Heartfelt moments and dialogue, I think. Sincerity and simplicity as well, maybe.
17: What are your writing weaknesses?
I'm not good with poetic writing styles. I also often struggle with descriptions since I'm not much of a visual thinker.
18: Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I think it can be a fun addition, depending on how much you include. Since I myself am not a native English speaker, I am often tempted to bring in some German. But it needs to be inserted in a way that even non-speakers of the language can understand.
19: First fandom you wrote for?
Kingdom Hearts! They were my first online obsession 🤭 If I had discovered fandoms earlier, I might have written for Wizards of Waverly Place.
20: Favorite fic you've written?
How could I ever choose? I actually really like most of my fics still and do reread them sometimes but I guess in terms of begin proud of how much work I put into it, Hurt No One Knew About might be my favorite of them so far.
Thanks again for the tag! This was fun but a lot of work 🤭
No pressure tags: @lost-in-thought-20, @lily-janus, @candied-peach, @mimssides, @starshard17

Hi soapy🧼
You're easily one of my favorite readers here on tumblr, so thanks for what you do!
I wanted to ask if you could explain your "additional details" bit you sometimes have at the end of pile readings. I've been taking them as energy checks but maybe there's more insight you can share? Also how do you go about tapping into those details?
Thx! <3
Username checks out, always so sweet ♡♡♡ also, whenever I spot your @ in my notifs I smile because mielie is close to a word in my native language which translates to psyche/mind/heart and sweetpsyche/sweetmind/sweetheart is a cute concept to me ^^;; (also very fitting from my pov, thank you so much for your support and kind words!
Hiya ♡
You'd be correct, the additional details serve as energy checks, and provide any additional information about the energies I encountered with the reading itself that I couldn't quite put into words or couldn't contextualise further than just the mention of it. Typical for readings that a lot of different people may read tbh;;
Sometimes I jot a few things down before I begin writing, but typically I 'close' each pile by tapping into that group's energy one last time in case there is potentially any relevant information in regards to those of the collective who stumble upon my reading and pick said pile. Everything won't resonate with everyone, of course, but on the off chance that there is something that really confirms to someone that it really is for them should they need it I sometimes include it.
Especially considering the mind often defaults to doubt, and can easily begin a cycle of looking for signs and confirmation fervently, particularly as an attempt to deny something good may come because sometimes blessings sound suspicious or even worse than setbacks because we so easily fear false hope. And if I can help prevent that sort of cycle and really cup a person's face and tell them "yes, this is for you for realsies, and I need you to accept good things because you do deserve good things, so shush!" then I certainly will try.
Admittedly some details occasionally feel silly or too random, and I wonder if I should just skip it, but then I remember that @8hsaturn once wore little prince pyjamas whilst reading their pile and I had included 'the little prince' in the additional details for that pile despite finding it odd and out of place, and almost excluded it, so I try to not censor my intuition anymore even if I have doubts about some details because I still think about that incident because what the hell??
The process of actually tapping in to those energies works similarly to how I go about starting my readings (when I don't use any tools), except as a closer it's quicker and easier because I have already acquainted myself with the energy during the reading itself, so it's easier to connect back to it.
I simply quiet down and focus only on pure awareness for a while until I feel my perspective shift to an observer pov, before looking for any lingering information that might be helpful. I might write key words down in a notebook or record the process so I can just speak what I hear/feel/see/etc. so that I don't need to worry about forgetting something by the time I'm ready to type them out in the post :')
Hope that helps clear things up ♡ and sorry for the wall of text omg, you'd think after doing a 6 pile reading with 4 paragraphs each I'd stfu;;

The integral : Dear Me, Dear You [Taekook]
First of all, I would like to apologize for the spelling mistakes, English is not my native language so I hope it will not disturb you. I try to improve as I go along. Thank you all for your understanding ❤
--------------------------------------------------
Dear 1
11/05/23 As Marguerite Duras once said, if you knew something about what you were going to write, before you did it, before you wrote it, you would never write. It would not be worth it.
To write is to try to know what one would write if one wrote - one only knows it afterwards - before, it is the most dangerous question one can ask oneself. But it is also the most common.
The written word arrives like the wind, it is naked, it is ink, it is the written word, and it passes like nothing else passes in life, nothing more, except it, life.
And that's exactly what I'm not doing right.
- Taehyung -
Dear 2
12/05/23 When was the time I actually burst into tears? I had no idea. The last time it was supposed to happen, I wasn't given the chance.
So, inside my body, it's still screaming without being able to let it out of me...
- Taehyung -
Dear 3
13/05/23 One day I'll explode, but when? All I'd like is for them to stop, well, to stop telling me what to do, what I should do, what they'd like me to do.
To give me orders every time you get the chance, all because you have all the rights over me and half the things you ask me I just can't refuse! All the time I feel tired, worn out and misunderstood. You don't realize how much pressure you put on me every day. I feel so bad but also so frustrated.
When will you finally leave me alone? I guess never? I'm laughing so hard it makes me despair. I can't even tell you everything I feel in my heart because you will take it the wrong way. Because your "Yeah but me" is fine okay? Are we talking about you or are we talking about me right now?? But I know you will always have something to say to make me look like the liar and a person who abuses a lot. Yes I abuse, yes I complain but so what? I'm actually tired of it. I'm sick of having to put up with this!
I'm drowning slowly but everything is fine...
- Taehyung -
Dear 4
14/05/23 If you feel too much emotion, let it out.
Oh yes, that's right, I just write what's on my mind...
- Taehyung -
Dear 5
15/05/23 "He's too weird."
Ah because you think you're more human too? Is laughing at someone normal? Making fun of someone for free because we're not all perfect and without problems?
Fuck you assholes.
- Taehyung -
Dear 6
16/05/23 If you had to have a favorite motto, what would it be? I have one, and I would like you to anchor it in your head.
If what you have to say is not more beautiful than silence, then shut up.
- Taehyung -
Dear 7
27/05/23
No, it's not that they don't know, it's just that they don't understand me...
They never believed me. But I did, I always believed them.
- Taehyung -
Dear 8
28/05/23
One day, someone said to me,
Run, so you can escape your past, your present, but what you must not leave is your future.
And I always thought that you would be the right person...
- Taehyung -
Dear 9
29/05/23 Our conversation was like that. At least, that's what it came down to,
"I hate the humans in this world...
But you are a human too."
"Except that he and I are quite different.
How so?"
They're just inhuman, that's all. He doesn't care what other people feel, if he's going to do that, he might as well let us die, you don't want to reach out to us. I am human, because I know how to reach out. I know how to help and forgive. And you know why? Because we are stronger than you think. They are the weak ones, and I'm sick of people playing with my patience. That they've been making fun of me since the beginning! At least I have feelings. Do you? You're here because you're afraid. And the weak, as you know so well how to say, don't deserve you.
You must have thought I was crazy...
- Taehyung -
Dear 10
30/05/23 I also thought of those stories of people who forgive the unforgivable after hearing the words, "I love you. From what I understood, love was a rather extreme idea, which seemed to lock the indefinable into the prison of a single term. And everyone abused the word. People used the word "love" for a yes or a no, whenever they were not feeling too bad or when they felt gratitude.
- Taehyung -
Dear 11
31/05/23 Powerful people don't talk. And people in trouble fight back.
- Taehyung -
Dear 12
01/06/23 You are the reason I smile every day. I am also your reason to smile.
So I hope I'm important to you...
- Taehyung -
Dear 13
02/06/23 I lied because there's no way you could love me.
- Taehyung -
Dear 14
03/06/23 Don't come closer or you'll be unhappy...
- Taehyung -
Dear 15
04/06/23 Life smiled at me then rejected me. Life loved me then it hated me.
- Taehyung -
Dear 16
05/06/23 There's nothing wrong with you, it's just that we were born in a judgmental society. We get insulted so gratuitously that sometimes we wonder if it's worth responding to them. They just want attention because they think they're as perfect as us. It's ridiculous. Just be beautiful in your own way, that's all.
Does he deserve our attention?
- Taehyung -
Dear 17
06/06/23 The blows hurt, they are fatal, but the hurtful words are even more so.
Isn't it Gukk?
- Taehyung -
Dear 18
07/06/23 Why did you separate me from the person I care so much about? It was on purpose, right? I laugh nervously. I hate you...
But I don't even know what I did to you...
- Taehyung -
Dear 19
08/06/23 I lost absolutely everything... But tomorrow is another day, isn't it?
I was in tears...
- Taehyung -
Dear 20
09/06/23 The fact that I don't fight back doesn't mean I'm weak. Only enough to understand that anger does not solve anything. But here, it's really too much.
- Taehyung -
Dear 21
10/06/23 Yesii, that's great, bravo! Thanks a lot. In fact, you are really the king of the bastards. Dare to come near me once and it won't be your empty words that will be broken, but your whole heart, asshole!
- Taehyung -
Dear 22
11/06/23 I want you to know that my heart is in my hand Jeongukk. But it can also come to your face.
- Taehyung -
Dear 23
12/06/23 The shorter jokes are the better ones.
- Taehyung -
Dear 24
13/06/23 It's never their fault anyway. It's true, they are perfect. Now that I think about it, that's really what it is, they are "perfect".
I get it. Now you have to stop taking me for an idiot.
- Taehyung -
Dear 25
14/06/23 You really want to know, huh? Do you want to know why we're not together anymore, Jeongukk? Well, simply because you fucked up.
It's that simple, Jeon.
- Taehyung -
Dear 26
15/06/23 It's not that I can't take it anymore, it's that it hurts to take it. And I'm sorry I wasn't good enough for you...
- Taehyung -
Dear 27
16/06/23 "It's okay, you don't have to force yourself, pretend like it's okay and nothing's changed because I can see that."
Don't you dare say that to me. You don't know anything about me.

20 Questions for Fic Writers
Thank you for the tag, @leatafandom! I'm honored tha tyou thought of me. (I'm not that good, but I'll try to answer.
How many fics do you have on AO3?
Uh, right now I've got 83, but I'm working on something and hoping to add another seven before the new year.
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
I don't look. I mean, seriously. Some of the stuff is daunting with either how short or how long it is. I don't want to know how many words I've used.
3. What Fandoms do you write for?
Well, I write for Spider-Man, Deadpool, Avengers, Batman, and Danny Phantom. I have written for a couple of others, but those are not fandoms I consider myself part of.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I try to always respond to comments. I appreciate every single time someone comments on one of my works, and I try to reciprocate. I also have this thing where I don't respond until I've got something new up, so it might take a while, but I try to always respond.
6. What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Well, that really depends on what you mean by "happy." Do you mean, everyone survived and the fic left of on a hopeful note? Or they're together and they've started a family? Or the rescue mission went well? Most of my fics have somewhat happy endings, but without a definition I can't really answer that.
8. Do you get hate on your fics?
I don't. At least, not yet.
9. Do you write smut?
No. I do not. I will leave the smut to others. The majority are very good at it, no need to add my inability to write this to the ring.
10. Do you write crossovers?
I do.
11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Well, I've had people ask me permission to translate some of my works, but they never linked me back, so I'm not sure if they've ever been translated.
12. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic?
Not a fanfic, but I did try to co-write a few books. It, uh, did not go well. I'm pretty sure (almost certain) that the problem is with me.
14. What's your all time favorite ship?
I'd have to say Spideypool. Definitely Spideypool.
15. What's the WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
Well, you don't pull punches, do you?
16. What's your writing strengths?
World building. I can create a lived in world with its own ecology, economy, and religions.
17. What's your writing weakness?
Fight scenes. I have so much trouble with those and no matter how I edit they always seem so clunky.
18. What's the first fandom you ever wrote for?
sips tea
19. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I have nothing but admiration for the people who do that. I, however, know how much I suck at any language but my own, and refuse to inflict my butchering upon people for whom it may be their native tongue.
20. Favorite fic you've written?
I have to choose just one?
Thank you so much for the tag, and I enjoyed this very much! And, if anyone actually read my answers, thank you for taking the time to read this!

That depends on my dreams. Regardless if my dreams are so bizarre, sensical or nonsensical.. I always overly analyze my dreams whenever I wake up. And, if I am able to, I'd try remembering what I can actually remember from my dreams. Sometimes I would forget about aspects of my dreams, especially the most interesting aspects in my opinion.
But for any dreams that I can remember, I would write down notes, I'll probably use any ideas that seem plausible enough as a plot that may be interesting to watch or read that happen. But I'd still need to write.
~
Yes. Instead of episodes that are barely half an hour long, make those episodes at least an hour. Maybe longer. Everything we'd actually just said should happen.. More backstory for certain characters (including Kuryu and Warrior characters). Either a war between the SWORD and Kuryu gangs. Possibly an ally or enemy relationship with new Kuryu if that ends up happening. Revealing who or want Mr. Bulge is to them.
I might make this into a sequel. Or maybe just a long story if I actually write the damn story. Because I've had these same thoughts before.
I do think a lot of characters, from different gangs, would actually just get along if given the chance to be around those people. Which is not really an often occurrence though.. But Noboru is really used to being around people like intelligent than me, so I'm imaging how he may be reacting to meeting Seki. Seki's the least intelligent of those three.
Exactly! Sakyo and Ukyo just seem like they don't care what happens either way. So they mostly mind their own business. Kato could really keep secrets if he wants to. But, if Hyuga said or do anything that just annoys him, he would tell his secrets out of spite though. But it would be obvious that the younger Daruma accidentally mention their entire secrets frequently, more than they actually reveal too. In my opinion.
~
That depends on the sites you'd use. Some sites would have frequent popups whenever you'd click on the screen and other sites might end up waiting until the next episode. Every site is very different that way.
I might not mind watching a foreign show or movie without subtitles.. But only if I've watched it more than once because then I would know what was already happening in the plot. But if it's a show or movie I'm watching for the first time, I might want subtitles because I would like to know what is actually happening in the plot. I know that I'm not the fastest reader. But I would still like to know what's happening though.
~
I love Joong-ki's Italian accent! And if I'm actually being honest about this.. I've never had an interest in the Italian language until now. And I do blame Vincenzo for this. I know his accent is 100% - depending on the comments you'd read from Italian fans. But his accent does really have an authentic sound to that way he speaks (in my opinion). Like it is kind of funny. My grandfather's Italian. Yet a fictional character was the one that makes me want to learn more about the language. And I don't know if I would make an attempt to learn other languages.. So if I ever did learn other languages, Italian may be one of the languages.
Don't judge me.
I know Vincenzo appreciates Jang's English! Because he's actually an only character (in Korea) would can actually pronounce his name, but that can't be helped in you aren't fluent in English or Italian languages though. And I know Chayeong frequently complains whenever Jang's alternating between English and Korean when he speaks to her. She's hating his habit, but she's also kind of used to it at the same time too.
Which is why I love some of my original characters being multilingual.
Wrong! Despite Mandy being born and raised in America - before his family moved to Japan, Japanese is his native language. Which is just so weird to me since he's a mixed person... "Even though he was born outside of Japan, he was raised monolingual in Japanese and only started to study English later on in his career." Actually, there are also some videos of Takahiro teaching him to speak English too. So that is another person I know who can speak English from the Exile Tribes.
Alan's multilingual. He's mixed too. He's half Filipino. So he can speak Japanese, Tagalog and English. Never really heard his English accent.
I don't really know about in real life... But I've heard Elly speak English in H&L and in his music videos. So maybe he can speak English?
Kana Oya's half Brazilian. Her English seemed fluent in the High&Low franchise. So she might possibly be able to speak other languages.
I've also read somewhere that Naoto does speak English but I haven't actually heard him speak English.. That I actually know of anyway.
Actually.. I am sending you a link about some comments about which guys in Exile can speak English. Some are people we've already said.
Exactly! Rocky mentioned that Kizzy and Kaito lived in America when Kizzy went to get her operation. Let's say a minimum of two years. So I don't know if they actually lived there, or went there frequently when she had to get her operations. And obviously she is the more talkative one between Kizzy and Kaito.. So I can imagine her speaking English, even if her language skills are only conversational English. Now I'm so imaging her teaching Kaito, Rocky and whoever else who wants to be learning the language. Actually! Now I am imaging original characters (who are multilingual) teach Kizzy English before going to America.
Maybe Rocky wants to learn English if he meets foreign women. But.. Joking aside. Have you seen the people in the background in the club though? Not all of them are Asian. Maybe there are times when some foreigners go to Club Heaven whenever people go to Japan then? It is an idea that I've thought about before. And I'm sticking with that too.
~
The drinks served at Club Heaven are milky, resembling the “milk-plus” that Alex and his droogs drink at Korova Milk Bar.
The aforementioned Club Heaven posters even say “Milk Plus” right on them.
I sent you a picture of the signature drinks from Club Heaven. Which.. I have to say is funny because trying to find pictures of the drinks, I've noticed that there's an actual club called Club Heaven. Just copycats.
They should have actually made real recipes for the signature drinks - just so the older audience viewers of H&L wanted to try that drink but that could only me though. I'm so curious. I want to drink that drink if it has ingredients that I might actually want to try. I wanna try recipes though. Like how restaurants would have special menus, for food and drinks, when popular medias comes out (like they do with animanga).
there would definitely need to be longer episodes or more than just 10 episodes. i’d like to see the gangs fight again, since cobra and jesse didn’t actually get to finish their fight. and they could pit hiroto and ice against each other again. i think the rude boys would want to fight ryu since he injured smokey.
that’s why they need to make another season! since with the alliance, they can have cross-gang interactions with characters without having them fight because they’re allies now. i’d like to see rocky and noboru interact. and kizzy and cobra. i want more of smg and the daruma babies hanging out too.
~
i can’t watch anything without subtitles. i need to know what’s going on. i watch shows in english with subtitles on. i need the words! otherwise i just miss stuff.
~
i don’t know if i’d learn italian, but i haven always wanted to learn another language. i just don’t have the time or patience. i was in a japanese class for a few years in primary and high school, but it’s been years since then.
since koo had never met kizzy and kaito and he’d been with rocky for a while, i’m guessing they lived over in america for a little while. i think kizzy’s more fluent and kaito’s more basic conversational, he can understand it and speak it a little, but he’s preferable to japanese and counts on kizzy to get his point across or explain things to him.
i think there were non-asian people in club heaven and the warrior’s club (funk jungle?). i dont think rocky would mind tourists in his club so long as they’re respectful because he’ll still kick their asses if they’re rude or creepy to women.
~
i don’t know why i imagined the drinks in flute glasses. they did serve them in flutes at one point right?
there’s a lot of milk cocktails around, but i can figure out what looks right like in that picture. i could be some form of white russian, but the club heaven drink looks clearer, hence why i thought something with sake.
h&l, release some notes! what is that supposed to be?!

Just wanted to share a few words from my friend @doruwuwei to all my writers out there who're writing in English when it's not their first language, and who might be struggling. Who get frustrated at themselves, wondering why the sentences just do not seem to flow as beautifully on paper as they do in their head. Who think they are just, not, a good enough writer.
You are writing with your hands tied behind your back.
You are writing with half of your words, wielding linguistical tools that are not your own, using them to carefully unveil your heart, knowing some of the readers will be able to see nooks and crannies that your gaze simply glosses over.
That is not to say you are not proficient in English! Honestly, most people on this platform are. It's just that, you don't have the psychological connections and the literature behind it. You don't have the the idiomacy behind it. And that's normal! Most of us picked up a pen one day and decided to write in the language of the material that we love, and the one where the most people would be able to interact with our work.
You speak, your native language. That is your language and the way you think. That is where you get the flowing natural imagery, that is where you write more beautifully and more profoundly.
And yet you chose to use English so more people could have access to it. If I saw anyone doing that in my native language, the only thing I'd be is bloody impressed.
Tbh I hadn't realized!!!! I had always been like, English is perfectly fine for me.
Until I tried writing in my native language for the first time in years and after an initial period of "what the fuck did I forget my own language's grammar" and "is that an actual expression or is it just English translated" I was like.
HOLY FUCK.
The imagery comes so fast. I can make long sentences without worrying if I'm over explaining or if it sounds natural or not. I know how to make things sound the way I want it to. I notice consciously "I'm making a simile/metaphor/personnification." Or "This sentence works better like this."
So.
The point to all this you ask?
Y'all are bloody amazing.
English as a language is lucky to have you. We are lucky to read your writing in a language we can understand, even when you feel you are struggling.
Embrace your native language! It is beautiful, in its own way. And it is yours.
For context, the thing I'm writing in my native language is a translation of an existing work of mine, that I wrote in English. And so, my friend also said:
"You could write your stuff in your native language and then translate it in English**, instead of the other way around. That way you'll develop your own style, in English. Because you're writing (in English) with borrowed styles, trying to fit your thoughts into pre-learned structures instead of creating. Which you feel freer to do in your own language."
Like, you feel freer to break the rules when you know the rules right? And just. Yeah. Food for thought.
** Just to be clear I don't mean copy-pasting the text into a translator and serve it like "here's my translation!" (i was planning to do that in the beginning, guilty as charged. Thankfully my translator friend smacked some sense into me). I mean doing the actual translation work, which is, thinking, understanding on a visceral level what the author/you wanted to say and rewrite it from scratch in a way that flows and is beautiful and conveys the same meaning and feeling to the extent it's possible. Because I'm starting to understand THAT'S what translation is.

PARTY FAVOURS I CHAPTER 30
First time reader click here
Tumblr media
TRIGGER WARNING! This chapter is a horror movie. There's blood, gore and psychological horror elements. Lemme know if it was actually scary - I'm desensitized to this shit. This was written to come out on Halloween but I was too slow with writing.
Tumblr media
Wooden floor creaking behind me, I couldn't feel the cold of it, not even a single splinter piercing the arches of them, I ran like my life depended on it. The darkness behind me was alive; it breathed, pulsated, spreading along the walls of the hallway like mold. The hallway seemed to be endless.
As soon as I realized that, I noticed that it, in fact, did have an end and not a door was in sight; that quickly proved to br also just a trick of the eye - there were doors, the hallway was riddled with them, each one dark, identical and placed neatly about five feet apart. With shaking hands, I turned the knob, slamming the door behind me with a loud bang.
Panting, I let myself slide against the door, eyes closed, sheet landing in a puddle of white fabric on the floor around me. First five seconds passed quietly; then, a noise interrupted my panicked thinking and my eyes flew open as the scene in front of me produced more confusion.
The familiar scene of the pond behind my grandparents' stables, the poppies - a splash of blood red against the dull greens and browns - swaying in the breeze. A Dora the Explorer bucket hat and a six-year-old me, hair in pigtails, poking at a spot of moist soil with a large stick.
I knew where this was going yet I couldn't pull my eyes away from the scene that was going to unfold. A stallion my parents had recently bought, ill-tempered and moody, jumping over the low fence and galloping noisily right at mini-me. The terrified animal was screaming yet I was oblivious to it's distress, too busy trying to fish out earthworms out of the wet ground. Almost in slo-mo, mini-me noticed the running, screaming animal and bolted for safety, its hooves missing my little body barely by a feet.
I felt the cold water of the pond on my skin. It was dirty and blooming at the time, musky smell assaulting my senses, murky water choking the life out of both versions of me. In the distance, I noticed a much younger and slimmer dad sprinting full-speed towards the splashing child in the pond. He was screaming something and I leaned in, trying to hear him better.
The scene vanished into thin, wispy smoke. My head was once again clear and the suffocating dread and panic subsided, letting me take in several deep breaths and try to assess the situation calmly. I had survived that accident, even successfully overcame my fear of swimming later on.
Hands shaking and heart fluttering like a frightened bird, I recoiled from the locked door when it began to rattle, the noise deafening in the eerie quiet of the house.
The shadows were taunting me. Trapping me in my worst fears, making me relive my worst memories. The artifact needed something from me - what was it? I wondered, tucking the sheet in some semblance of a toga and standing up to explore the room. Save for a few outdated pieces of furniture, it was cold and empty, void of life. Nowhere to hide.
I paced the room, coming to a halt next to the heavy, thick velvet curtains. Expecting to see a window behind them, I was surprised with another old wooden door with a bent handle that had gathered an impressive layer of dust. With rattling behind me increasingly growing in volume, I had no other option but to press it down and quickly dart into the next dark room.
Clint. Lifeless eyes wide open, his body laying at my feet, sheet-white and rust coloured stains adorning his mouth, nails black and broken as if he'd been clawing at the dilapidated wooden floors. I backed away from him, further into the room - the archer's body began to move and tremble, tiny little gashes appearing on every inch of exposed skin. The thing that was breaking out of him glowed, pale blue and sickly.
"That's not..." I whispered to myself. "Clint is alive," As if I had been doused with cold water, the images of MAFS incident seeped into my mind, the what-ifs of my past actions weighing heavily and clouding my mind with guilt.
"Come on, we don't have much time," Steph's voice appeared behind my back, loud and out of nowhere. I was rightfully sceptical about the reality of him - while his face was the usual, tense expression of boredom, he stood differently. I couldn't describe the difference if I tried; it just felt wrong. Like a puzzle piece was missing.
"I don't think so, demon dude," Squaring my shoulders once again, I prepared myself for the inevitable pain.
"Who?" The copycat asked, faking concern surprisingly well. "It's the artifact. It's making you see things that aren't real," With a wave of his hand, the door flew open, exposing the hallway filled with the void that was chasing me previously.
"Oh what I saw was real alright," I countered, tilting my head to examine the entity. Unknowingly, it had given itself away - Stephen's magic always glowed gold and orange, in the sense that he wasn't like Loki - Strange's spells were always visible. "I'd rather you kill me then spread your vile disease beyond this... Space," With none of the bravery I actually had, bluff came surprisingly easy. Perhaps, I really was ready to die so my friends and family could live.
Not-Stephen tsked and grinned maliciously, once again waving his hands about. "Killing you? So barbaric and an absolute waste of potential." The shadows pushed something into the gaping hole of the doorway, something curled up in a fetal position and whimpering. The entity picked up the man by the shoulders, forcing him to kneel in front of it, teary baby browns staring back at me, wide with terror.
Tony. My feet took an involuntary step forward, where my Tony was trembling, whimpering in the creature's grasp, unseeing eyes looking straight forward. As if I wasn't there.
"Submit and I will let him go. Right now, he's relieving the worst memories of his life," The entity raised an eyebrow, a mock imitation of Stephen's expression. I could hear Tony mumbling faintly, something about his chest and Afghanistan and bombs and Obadiah.
It pissed me off. Firstly, how dare this wannabe-Pennywise, this LOST-fog-monster-reject to lay his filthy metaphysical fingers on my Tony. And secondly, for the sloppy intelligence job - I had been woken up by Tony's nightmares more than enough to know his biggest fear wasn't Afghanistan. It wasn't Obadiah and it wasn't Bucky killing his parents, it wasn't even the vast, consuming black emptiness of the space behind the wormhole.
Anger burning my throat, I lunged at not-Stephen with a bloodcurdling scream, feeling my nails dig into the cold, clammy flesh of the thing's throat. Taken by surprise, both of us stumbled, falling into the abyss of the hallway, me kicking and scratching and screaming all the way, fingers squeezing deeply into the lifeless imitation of flesh. His screams mixed with mine and Tony's into a shrieking cacophony.
The darkness was laughing, cackling, noise sharp like nails on a chalkboard. It hurt, but the thing's grip on me hurt even more. "He'll never love you like you expect him to. They don't care about you. The mage said he'd help you and now you're dying here, alone," Black smoke began leaking out of the impostor's mouth along with the words, both acrid and venomous.
My head was pounding as more and more of the stuff came into contact with my body. My vision swam, bordering on unconsciousness. "If I'm dying, I'm taking you with me, bitch," I screamed out, squeezing and squeezing and squeezing until I exploded together with my surroundings, in a short of white, blinding light.
And then, there was darkness. My limbs were once again filled with concrete, mouth dry and skin burning like I'd been branded with a hot iron.
I opened my eyes to the familiar sight of the room with the fireplace. The fire was roaring, crackling and and shooting noisy sparks, accompanied by heavy breathing to my left. Disregarding the nausea that followed my every movement, I hung my head over the side of the car coming to witness both sorcerers laying haphazardly on the floor, a thin river of blood seeping into the carpet from Wong's head.
Confused, disoriented and terrified, I called out for them, voice barely audible and terse. Had I been screaming?
The sorcerers' chests rose and fell rapidly; my panic subsided but not by much. I crawled out of the cot only to land ungracefully on my face, body refusing to cooperate and feeling about as well as after I'd ran a marathon. Inch by inch, I crawled over to the chair I had left my things on, fighting with my body for every movement I made.
Fumbling, l pulled out my phone and pressed the green call button on the one person one would call in this situation. My best friend.
"Yes, dear?" His baritone was tense but nonetheless calm.
"Help, some-something happened," I managed to say, no louder than a whisper. "Sanctum," I clarified, hearing a noise of things falling over and several distressed voices shouting in the background.
"I am coming, do not end the call," Loki replied immediately, barking out several commands I didn't quite catch. There were more noises of distress as I obediently stayed on the phone. "Darling, can you tell me what happened?"
"I- Killed?" I tried to articulate my thoughts, tongue becoming more and more uncooperative by the second.
"Oh my God, who's dead?!" I heard Bruce yell, probably, right in Loki's ear.
"The Thing," I clarified, hoping to calm him down.
Loki cursed in his native language, I heard him trying to wrestle the phone from someone - unsuccessfully so, I might say, as Tony's distraught voice was the next thing I heard. "Princess, listen to me. Are you okay? Where's Strange? We're gonna be there in 10 minutes. We're coming."
An avalanche of information for my overtaxed brain and aching body, I struggled to keep up with Tony's rambling and filtering out Loki's screeching in the background. So much noise. My head hurt. "No, Steph and Wong are down. Alive." I managed to convey the most important part, a terrified sob leaving my chest burning. "Please, talk," I begged Tony, not wanting to be left in that terrifying, consuming silence ever again.
And Tony talked. He babbled nonstop, things that I didn't really catch neither care about, having enough strength to give a hum of approval every few seconds or so. It appeared to be as calming to him as it was to me, I didn't hear any more complaints from the team, only brief increase in volume as one of them got closer to the phone. A part of me conceded I should've made at least one joke about being put on loudspeaker, however, my brain was exhausted.
Burnt out, rather. The emptiness settled in my bones, chilly, like the blood had been sucked out of me, making my body just a vessel for the darkness that stalked my nightmares. I dug my nails into the soft flesh of my bare thigh, feeling none of the pain, just the relief when blood seeped through the cuts, crimson and warm.
That's how they found me. Loki threw open the door, breaking one of the hinges, eyes immediately darting between me and the laying sorcerers, as he swiftly cast a bright golden spell on the room, warming us from the inside out. Carefully stepping over the two men, Loki kneeled in front of me, green eyes staring right into mine.
I heard cursing and thudding but all I could focus on was the shining emerald of Loki's eyes. "Oh, child," He whispered, reaching out with both arms to pull me into his chest. I couldn't have resisted even if I wanted to, my body was utterly drained of fight.
"What happened?" Tony asked, a hysterical pitch to his voice.
"I can assume there was a failsafe left behind by the artifact, it took out both sorcerers and attempted to finish the job it started," Loki spoke up, hand gently petting my hair, still clutching my limp body like I was dying. "She fought it off, I don't know how, but she fought it off. It has entered a dormant state again."
"What do you mean took them all out?" In his distress, Tony seemed to have lost all sensibility. "What happened to her?!" He was getting impatient, angry.
"With an artifact like that, it's a blessing they are still alive. It is ancient and unpredictable," Loki explained patiently, none of his usual vitriol present. "And she... You could say she was mind-raped," He stated, quieter.
I groaned in protest. Loki's spell of gold did what felt like a wonder: the light was slowly coming back into the room, into me, filling me with warmth I didn't know I could lack. "As if," I slurred. "As if that Pennywise wannabe could ever," My body was, nonetheless, exhausted. "I've swallowed more kids than he could ever," My eyelids dropped, the comforting noise of Tony's and Loki's combined chuckle amplifying the surplus of warmth within me.
Last thing I saw was Tony's watery smile, tears crinkling at the corners of his eyes as he lifted me from Loki's arms, hot rod red of his suit saturating the room with color. Feeling safe for the first time in what felt like forever, I let my eyes close voluntarily, a smile crawling onto my face. I was right. Tony was alright, it wasn't really him that was getting tortured in the nightmare-verse.
"What..." I heard Stephen croak from somewhere. "Baby?!" His voice raised a whole octave; Thor's fond chuckle followed the rustling of fabric and a few stronger choice words from the sorcerer as Loki briefed everyone on the situation at hand.
"How is she, Tones?" Bruce asked quietly from above me.
"Pretty out of it but on her way back to health," Tony replied with another watery laugh. "Cracking jokes and whatnot clownery."
Bruce exhaled in relief, stroking my face with the side of his fingers. It was almost palpable, the general atmosphere of respite in the room, the sudden free flow of oxygen to my lungs.
"I am so sorry," Stephen's whisper was more felt than heard by me; the spice of his cologne and copper of blood reached my nostrils, burning them, keeping the warmth from leaving my body ever again.
My fingers weakly held out to him, finally coming to grasp his more-than-usual shaking hand. "Not your fault," I breathed. "Persistent cursed box," Were my last words before my consciousness gave out. Sleep sweet sleep.

roleplay / writing habits
Are you proficient in any language outside of your native tongue? do you write characters that speak multiple languages?
I took Spanish in eighth grade, two years of French in high school, and just recently learned a few Slovene words, but I'm definitely not fluent enough in any of them tbh. While some of my muses might be able to speak more than one language, I probably won't actively write any of them a lot.
What time of day are you most productive with regard to writing?
This one can vary from time to time, actually. Sometimes it's later at night, and sometimes like right now it's late morning and early afternoon. It honestly just depends on when I'm feeling the most inspiration, really.
Do you proofread / edit as you write or do you just wing it and save editing for last?
About ninety-nine percent of the time, I normally just type out the entire reply and then go back once I'm finished and proofread through it to check for any spelling errors, grammatical mistakes, repetitive words, etc.
Do you reply to threads you have the most inspiration for first or do you work on them in the order in which you received them?
I definitely reply to the threads that I have the most inspiration for first, otherwise a lot of things wouldn't get done. I mean, I'm obviously going to have more muse for a thread I'm actively enjoying and can't wait to read the next reply for, right? So yeah, definitely the more feelsy, the more inspiration.
What is your average length / word count regarding roleplay replies? does the length of your partner’s replies matter or is important to you?
I can't even answer these questions without writing a lengthy response, so that should tell you everything you need to know right there lol. The length of my partner's response matters in the sense that if I put effort into mine, I'd hope they'd do the same with theirs. It doesn't always have to be equal, but I'm not really a fan of one pargaraph responses to my like seven paragraphs. ...if that makes sense. I don't know. I'm just super descriptive and enjoy writing multi paragraph to mini novella replies too much for my own good, I guess.
Have you ever had a roleplay partner who helped you to improve something about your own writing quality?
Of course, all the time. I love seeing how other people's writing is so unique from my own. I enjoy learning little things that help me know a certain piece of writing is definitely the work of so and so. That probably only makes sense in my head, but ah well. I like reading how other authors put you in their scene, especially when it teaches me new words to try in my own writing or new perspectives and ways of looking at certain things.
I'm probably getting off topic and making no sense, but I certainly wouldn't be where I am today creative writing wise without the help and influence of some of my partners over the years. Making each other better is all part of the fun.
Is there another hobbyist or writer whose style or content is one that you enjoy? Is there anything specific that stands out to you about it?
I probably should have saved parts of my last answer for this one, oops. Anyway, yours is one that I've always enjoyed, hence the reason we've been writing together for so long and partially why I start some of these new shows so that we can continue with even more muses. As for what stands out, I'd have to say your descriptions, word choice, backstories / headcanons, and especially plot ideas. Oh, and let's not forget your willingness to bring the feels and lengthy threads.
As for someone who didn't send this ask, labyriinths is one of the first people to come to mind. I just really enjoy seeing her threads on my dash, even when they're not to me. The way she words certain situations are in ways I never would think to attempt myself, so it's always interesting learning how differently someone else can see something from you. Well, assuming that makes sense. But yeah, I like her characterization and how she makes things her own and leaves me excited to reply or wanting to test new muses so I can write against more of hers.
What subjects / genres do you find yourself becoming the most passionate about when you’re writing?
I'm a firm believer in the fact that you can never have too much angst. I mean, I prefer to be realistic about it and prefer emotional over physical, but you get the idea. I'm not really capable of doing a lot of pure, soft fluff, but I do really love my share of flangst. For whatever reason, it's just more feelsy that way, and I'm all about the feels, whether it be romantic or platonic. Family (fl)angst is at the top of my list nine times out of ten, so that's usually when some of those novella threads might find themselves on the dash.
