January - I guess I didn't draw much this month cuz this isn't that good lawl. but its ok I had fun designing the outfit (Millie, she/they, my oc)

Febuary - Owed arttttt I love how these sorts of headshots turn out I shoul draw them more often (Castiel, he/they, not my oc)

March - FUCK yeah I LOVE THIS THINGG easily one of the best things I made all 2024. I made this for a custom hoodie I got its sooo awesome I'm so happy with it (not an oc at all lol, its based on Darius + Rotteen - More Adventures ~ the Forever Fieldtrip ~)

April - Another month where I didn't draw much of interest but I finally remade a ref for an old ass oc of mine and idk. its always nice when I succeed at drawing someone buff lol (Spine, she/her, my oc)

May - FUCK YEAHHHH LOVE THIS PIECE there was actually another piece I made this month that was really good but ultimately I used this cuz the shading and pose and all that goes hard !!!! It's inspired by Emoticon + Rotteen - Sprung! lol the Halley Labs hyperfixation was going haaaard (Ridorii, she/they, my oc)

June - This is from a jokey ych I made awhile ago lmfao, no one ever bought one (so sad) but thats ok it was fun. If you got this far and want one of these uhhh ask I guess lmfao they're still for sale (Haten, he/they/it, not my oc)

July - ARTFIGHT WOOOOOOO I didn't do too much during artfight but I went HARD when I could !! especially on HL ocs lol.. this is one of them :3 perspective is fun and shading is awesome and overall I'm just really happy with this (Joshua Livingston, he/they/ze, not my oc)

August - Idk what drove me to make this (besides my hyperfixation) but I'm glad I did cuz this goes HAAAARD. its a reference to ON Trax Vol. 5 lol (Uhhhh. theres like. 10 different ocs referenced here, some are mine and some aren't, if you're curious about one in particular just ask lol)

September - Made this before shit hit the fan w/ Patricia but whatever. Bicycle is a fucking AWESOME album and I cannot stress enough how much it speaks to me on a therian level. Had to make something based on it, legally required, and I think it turned out nice (Me aka Jasper, it/they, not an oc lol its just me)

October - Had a wonderful experience (/gen) where a friend I hadn't talked to for months messaged me out of the blue and immediately came out to me. I turned them into a furry within the week. Heres the fursona they commissioned me to make :3 shoutout to them if they're seeing this btw (Suki, they/them, not my oc)

November - Aforementioned friend said I should draw one of my ocs skateboarding, so I did. It turned out, like, surprisingly good? Power of using references I suppose lol. Also I LOVE this guy it's one of my favorite ocs fr (Spectrum, it/spark, my oc)

December - More owed! Woohoo! I got them to draw a temp ref for my JJBA oc, she got me to draw her RE cbc :P It's nothing insane or whatever but its nice (Kobalt, he/him, not my oc)

I like the idea of crazy ass hair and there's just these random ass spools secured with braids. Couldn't quite get across the idea but the current plan is eyes that weirdly reflect the light that's around them? Like, during the day it's the same color as the sunlight and night the moonlight. I suppose during new moons they'd be black? Lol?

Naruto eyeball bullshit basically but idk how much I'll stick with it. Did want the pupils to reflect literal light though.

Not totally dedicated to the purple honestly, but maybe I'll like it more if I added a secondary color? Or maybe that's a bit much??? There are some interesting hair colors but it's usually pretty standard and toned down for anime hair, gravity defying antics aside.

Gender still undecided and who knows, they may remain gender fluid/neutral. Something something constantly manipulating near raw yin and yang chakra with coils so flexible they can handle most chakras with practice makes them, at their core, very flexible identity wise.

Did decide I wanted their personality to be deliberately a little weird. Like, they enjoy contorting and walking like a toon character cause they don't have a lot of friends if any. So it makes them laugh if nothing else. And they're honest but the shit they say sounds so wack no one takes it seriously most of the time.

Shit like

"Okay, what kind of clothes are you wanting made?"

"What kind of clothes?"

"Well, yeah. If you want pajamas, making it so you can fling fireballs with a wave would probably not be advised."

They can, in fact, do that with sun threads and some mild seals. Not permanent work, but pretty long lasting.

Hyuga hate looking at them cause they mend their own clothes with raw thread and it's like looking at a lazer show for them. Professional clothes they use regular thread, maybe soaked in a particular light for, since the raw stuff tends to dissipate over time.

Originally wanted a colorful wardrobe but I think I'll leave the color for their cute little caplet lined with pockets and needles. They're very handy, having taken up a lot of hobbies in their spare time.

The weirdness chills out by A LOT when they are around an actually friend. Otherwise it's Space Cadet Central in here.

Had the small idea of Danzo trying genetic bullshit but eventually ruling out their family for even base stock for his special little soldiers cause they're all so fucking spacey and can't seem to focus the minute they're outside. It's cause of the whole 'seeing light as malleable form" thing but he never quite managed to get that part from them before killing them off. The fun part about having someone so morally deprived is that, technically, an OC like this one could be related to ANYONE lmfao, cause some of these science bitches didn't give a FUCK about robbin graves.

If they're a civilian it would be hilarious if they were "home schooled ninja" because of how useful basic ninja training is out in the field. Mainly strength bullshit and endurance honestly still very on the fence about the ninja bit.

All I really know for sure is that they're Super Weird A Lot and Very Unfairly Pretty for Max Confusion. And Tol. Very slender and Tol.

so surprise surprise its actually my navi post pic, ONLY because the plan for this render was for it to be a like text conversation between an AI and Roo, so Roo is supposed to look annoyed at his phone and I only realized AFTER I finished rendering and got it into GIMP, just how stupid the conversation seems especially since some of the dialogue is supposed to be cut off but that doesnt work over text ykwim, and i ALMOST scrapped it, but I stuck it out cuz I thought it'd be cute idk, then I hated it, now I LOVEEEE it.

I dont think ill ever actually share the intended dialogue, but the AI was supposed to be named ROO - Recondite Ovoidance Overseer, and at the end of my navi post was supposed to be the end of the conversation with Roo commenting "That's not even how you spell Avoidance. Stupid technology." I mainly scrapped it cuz I figured nobody would read it and it doesnt make that much sense 🙃

idk if it was intentional or what but note how this szn, steve implicitly trusts and respects nancy’s instincts in several instances instead of shutting them down, and only ever argued about task delegation but still stands down once approached with reason. 

like when nancy wanted to go the library, his response wasn’t “no way. we need to stick together” (which would’ve been well-intentioned and understandable) but “yeah, ok you need someone.” or how he completely supported her idea of posing as academic scholars despite having doubts about the creel lead. 

i have more slightly tangential brainrot to say under the cut.

the scene where the scooby gang had a conversation was particularly interesting to me. the dynamics were like: eddie=skeptic, robin=throwing wild idea, nancy/steve=facts, grounding the idea. idk this seems significant to me cuz steve is often the skeptic/straight man in grp dynamics. 

this dynamic even extends to the framing of the scene: robin and eddie had their own individual frames, but steve and nancy were sharing not one but two frames (just on that convo alone, cuz they had several others post-DIVE) that just racks focus depending on who’s talking in the shot.

there’s no way a big-budget tv show just decided to skimp on these frames lmfao so they are definitely intentional lol!!! to me, it’s like an indication that they are finally on the same page (or frame, heh). (edit: forgot to mention, the shot above^ ended with steve moving forward so they’re in equal footing and then they flirted about how she almost killed him that one time, you know, as great OTPs do. so not only are they on the same page in their method of dealing with things, they have also become comfortable flirting with each other, as a treat!) and the ending of this scene where nancy suggests going to her house for guns? steve saying, “so what are we waiting for?” !!!! 

it’s just truly a far cry from their s2 dynamic where steve tries to talk nancy out of investigating about barb’s death (albeit well-intentioned). their present selves’ ways of dealing with issues have aligned!!! and they’re clearly still very attracted to each other. so arguments about them not being well-matched just don’t hold water lolll!! 

(on the other hand, go back to s3 and see how jonathan shut down nancy’s ideas and instincts because he was concerned about self-preservation, which is not even necessarily invalid cuz his poverty has made him function in survival mode all his life and that’s understandable. but this just proves that their differences as people, let alone as a couple, are more fundamental than anything. sidebar: jonathan’s apology when nancy was proven right was like, “i was wrong. don’t let that go to your head.” and i’m supposed to root for them??? when steve apologized twice, one of which could pass as a famous romantic Grovel and that’s all pre-””character development” s1 steve??? hell naw!!!!!)

First off, Liz trapped in this offensive and shitty addiction storyline. Her being unable to narratively do anything and being completely useless to the main plot. Liz is the main character but she’s pushing none of this story along, she sat on a lab floor all episode crying and googling memory loss like she’s Bella in Twilight lmfao.

Max and Isobel decide to cross the portal because they’re under the impression that Liz can science them back, and then Liz just… doesn’t tell them she doesn’t know how to do it because she “doesn’t want to get in the way of Max’s destiny”. What? Maybe let them know so they can better prepare for this possibility.

Isobel etc being like “the pocket dimension isn’t dangerous because Michael was pretty confident he could come back” those are a lot of assumptions based on Michael (who you’ve thought was overly optimistic about his chances of going in and coming back out anyway), and also, they’re not back yet.

“Maria, is Alex the one you’re closest to?” Maria, for some reason: actually the person I’m closest to is Dallas who I’ve known for less than a year (I wanted Maria/Dallas! But this makes no sense)

Alex is dying and no one has problem solved this beyond “maybe getting back to earth will help”. Max turns up and says he has his powers back and Michael is like “thank god!!!” and then… for some reason doesn’t ask if that could be useful to heal Alex or, idk, even partially heal him to buy him more time.

They open the portal and then take the slowest walk of all time despite a storm behind them. Nathan and Quentin act out their alien powers and it looks the most ridiculous it’s ever looked. Alex is posed on the portal entrance but just chills there. Dude, roll. Liz is in the background and offers her lead character contribution of standing around while Clyde monologues. She couldn’t, idk, give it her best shot and try punching Clyde in the back of the head like she did to Noah in 1x11? Even if it doesn’t work she could at least be shown actively trying.

I'm honestly fine with either kind of reader. there are pros and cons to each type. I like more blank slate readers since it makes it easier to put myself into the story, but they can quickly become one dimensional and boring to read. A readers with an established background is almost always more engaging, but I lose my immersion if the reader's looks are written too specifically (1/2)

Lmfao I’m 5’9 and not skinny in the slightest so when fics talk about being petite or short I definitely get taken out of it. It’s better to be vague imo, bc even when I’m reading specifically plus-size reader fics I still feel kinda meh because they have a tendency to talk abt certain attributes (boobs, butt) I don’t have bc like… I hold all my weight in my stomach LMFAO and I think there’s absolutely ways to be super vague in those kinds of descriptions! I do it a lot lmfao (To be perfectly clear: I think fics abt plus-size/curvier/fat (bc fat isn’t a bad word) readers are phenomenal regardless, and I’m sure so many people who typically feel ostracized by the emphasis on skinniness/smallness feel represented by them and that’s amazing, I’m just pointing out that describing any physical feature in detail is gonna make some readers feel left out even if they do fit into the category that you’re specifically trying to represent). And I’m white but I would be remiss not to bring up that so many fics cater to cis white women, and it’s incredibly important to keep in mind that not every reader has the same hair texture or skin tone as you.

Keeping the reader neutral in terms of physical appearance is, imo, bare minimum for reader insert authors and frankly if ur reader isn’t inclusive of poc or all body types then like. Idk why you’re writing reader inserts as opposed to OC fics 😳

THAT ALL SAID (bc I totally get why my post made people think abt physical appearance but that’s such a given to me I didn’t even think abt disclaiming that I wasn’t talking abt it lmfao) I was thinking plot-wise, and I suppose personality-wise as well, which r both personal preference imo. Unlike with keeping physical appearance neutral, I don’t think there’s an inherently correct answer; readers are characters just like anyone else in the fic, so inherently they need personalities and stuff.

With shorter fics like I typically write, it’s easier to just not bring up a reader’s childhood or family. But with longer ones it’s harder, because obviously such things r so impactful on people and naturally things that the romantic interest should come to know about the person they’re pursuing. And for me, I like it when a character has a backstory, but I can see some of my own readers preferring the opposite and wanting to imagine their own parents or friends rather than me making up new ones for the story lmfao. Plus I agree with you, keeping things neutral like that can very easily make the reader one-dimensional. And I mean isn’t reader insert stuff about being self indulgent and placing yourself in different scenarios? Different jobs and different friends and stuff?

Again none of this is rlly gonna impact my writing (I’m too far along with the WIPs that made me think about this to change up the plots LMFAO) but I got to thinking abt it as I was writing a scene where the reader like. Trauma-dumps to Bakugo JDBDKSND and went “damn this is a rlly in-depth backstory I wonder what my readers will think.” It’s an interesting discussion so I figured I’d pose the question!

I love LesMis, Chicago (the movie), Cabaret, Hairspray, Legally Blonde, Hedwig and the Angry Inch and dare I say it, Cats (NOT the movie, and before you ask, no I’m not a furry lmao). Falsettos, Dogfight and Rent make me cry like a baby. Avenue Q is good but I think it’s a bit dated.

Anyways on the topic of RPF or fanfiction in general, what’s like the worst fic you’ve encountered? That one I talked about definitely scarred me the most, but I also saw fics where the entire premise is a female Y/N “turning Freddie straight” and having heterosexual sex with him which is just ew. And tbh I personally don’t have anything against old man thirst/PD!Queen fics (not including fics that normalize ped0philia etc), it’s just… some things are harder to stomach than others lol. As long as they keep it in their corner of the Internet and do not present it to the people they write about, live and let live.

Actually now that I think about the old man thirst, it’s a bit concerning to see literal children in their preteen and early teen years openly thirsting for old men, like men in their 60-80s. This goes beyond the Queen fandom, and applies to the wider classic rock fandom. The things I’ve read… They’re not just cute innocent crushes, they’re literally talking about present day rock stars in a very explicit, sexual way. A LOT of kids are getting into classic rock now; I sent you that ask about Tiktok and I’m not exaggerating when I say I see a lot of 11-14 classic rock fans (who like bands like Motley Crue, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, The Who…) And this opens up to all kinds of problems; I’ve seen a lot of them talk about how creepy old men would disguise themselves as their faves online and talk to them, ask for their number/address, etc.

Oh yeah, Avenue Q is a product of its time. It was 2003 and it even has the line that George Bush is "only for now" in the last song lol. A lot has changed in our culture over the past 18 years. Sondheim is my favorite composer, hands-down. He's a genius and his music is so damn smart a lot of times. I haven't seen all of the other ones you've mentioned, but I'll be controversial and say that not only am I not a fan of Cats or POTO (with the latter, it has good songs but I think they're better out of context because the characters suck), but god, I really dislike RENT lol. I know a lot of people love it and that's fine. I'm glad you can get more enjoyment out of it than I can. I cried my eyes out when I watched it in 8th grade, but then I watched it when I got older and really did not enjoy it anymore.

Ooo boy, you're asking the real controversial questions lol. I'm definitely uncomfortable with the type of stories you mentioned. RPF is a complicated topic and I have mixed thoughts on it, but the short version is that I do think there are lines that shouldn't be crossed with it. I...really hate to name any specific fic....But. There's this person who has posted a ton of stories and they've gained quite a reputation. The stories tend to have these common themes: young Freddie being physically ill in some way (so some lowkey illness exploitation, for lack of a better term), the other members of the band being medical professionals who are either related to Freddie or his partners, some underage shit, random George Michael cameos, a dentistry fetish, and a tickling fetish. There are other things thrown in their work, but those are the things that pop up the most frequently.

I'm sorry, but it's the strangest collection of stories I've ever come across. I read just the descriptions of these stories to friends who've been reading fic for a long time, and they agree they've never seen such a weird collection. I think it would be weird if it were regular old fanfiction, but the fact that it's RPF is...Idk. I might get my head bitten off but I'm very uncomfortable with these stories which revolve around making Freddie medically suffer in some way when he really died of a terminal illness. This is where the stories go from strange to offensive for me. It's not like these stories deal with his real AIDS diagnosis, either, but stuff he didn't actually have irl. I saw one description where he'd need a lung transplant (?!) and closed the fuck out of AO3. Just, why? Where is the enjoyment out of imagining such a thing? Why not just write this story with a fictional character if it's going to have nothing to do with Queen? It honestly unnerves me. Oh, and the formatting of the stories themselves is absolutely unreadable. I clicked on one out of sheer curiosity but the lack of spaces and paragraph breaks hurt my eyes.

I do think the old man thirst is concerning when the people doing it are very young. Sorry but....kids aren't supposed to find senior citizens attractive lmfao. It definitely seems to be a thing in the wider classic rock fandom. I was going to say they'll just outgrow it, but if these kids on Tiktok are really talking about older men talking to them while posing as their idols, that's really concerning. Reason #7234 TikTok was a fucking mistake and I'm so glad I'm not on there.

rory's little scene was her as a teacher !!! so cute

it was kind of awkward at first but then she saw nctzens' faces so she was happy

when haechan asked the time where the fans were, she read the comments, squinting funnily at the screen before gasping

I mean the Spice Girls were and still are iconic spelled to sound like eye-con-eek. They were a good chunk of his childhood to adolescence since they WERE the 90′s. So not only is their music just, you know, great, it holds a very nostalgic place in his heart. I mean he for sure watched Spice World and didn’t give a single shit that it makes no sense. It didn’t need to, it was the Spice Girls hanging with aliens and chilling out on the bus in their iconic fashion. Anyone in that movie he will reference as their character from that instead of like oh Hugh Laurie from House MD? NO, it’s Hugh Laurie, Poritot from Spice World. Oh Stephen Fry? From Gosford Par? NO, it’s Stephen Fry, the Judge from Spice World. 

Anyways, while he would and does put their entire discography on, I’m putting this one in particular because it’s such a bop!! And their anthem. When the bitches were back for the 2012 Olympics, while they may have opened with Wannabe with choreography, (except Victoria who literally stood there Posing, the icon) they really went in with Spice Up Your Life okay, they rode around that stadium ON the cabs while singing it!!! It’s 100% the song that will pick him up off the floor.

What a song??? Holy SHIT. It may be only like a month old in its life span but it Hits, so it gets a spot on this playlist because as soon as I heard it I was like, “Laszlo would be obsessed.” It’s a bop, it’s a jam, it’s everything he could ever ask for in a song. First off, the production on it is just so good!!! The beats HIT and the clapping behind their vocals picks it up to another level. And that part where they like lmfao aggressively grunt?? after “Everglow forever let’s go.” amazing, brilliant, stunning, absolutely the best thing he has ever heard before. And then the VOCALS!!! The talent!!!! Like the range between all the girls is astounding, and I don’t just mean their vocal range. I mean ALL of it, the singing, the rapping, the power and then pulling it back for the softness until they come back to make heads bop for the chorus. Whew!!! Just such a good, pump up song that he can bop around too and that’s his favorite kind of music!! 

Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight) - ABBA but the Cher Cover 

No disrespect to ABBA because Laszlo loves them, but he looooves Cher and while he would ALSO play her entire discography, this song just hits different sung by Cher in 2018 in her beautiful, earthy voice. And she did it so tastefully. She respected the original song by not turning it over into something completely lost to the track but it still felt like she was putting her own magical Cher-y blessing upon it as if it were her very own song. It’s like the perfect crossover??? He probably had an out of body experience listening to her cover album of ABBA and then going to see her in Mama Mia! 2. Plus, like, this song is also his life lmfaooooo where is his man,,, @ god (who is Cher, as confirmed on Will and Grace.) 

I Know A Place - MUNA

Not only is this song just...so good...but the lyrics of it really hit home for him. Like??? “Don’t you be afraid of love and affection/ just lay down your weapon”??? ow bitch. But it is a celebratory song!!! It’s about being able to be whoever you are and not having to worry about getting hurt or dealing with the bleeeh people of the world because they’re going to a place that’s safe and accepting, and that’s in LGBT+ spaces. And there are a lot of people who don’t feel safe and who are having to hide themselves, but this song is providing them a little slice of heaven to be themselves. It also serves as a reminder that there are places were you can be safe and happy and yourself and you will be accepted!!! And that’s just such a lovely message, and for music like this to be out there in the world for the youth makes him so happy! And the music itself is so funky and absolutely something that one can dance to. It has those places that slow down...and then HIT for the bopping around for the hype of the chorus!! UGH! and Katie’s voice still being sort of haunting really just brings it on home. This song is so good!! Stream MUNA!!!!! 

Paparazzi - Lady Gaga (TW: fake blood from 3:20-end of the video) 

I’m linking the 2009 MTV performance because I’m going to say that this was his first exposure to Lady Gaga and holy shit was it life changing!!! This was everything. Like the performance art of it really came for his throat. Spoiler alert: when the blood started pouring from her chest and the crowd like gasped and groaned??? It was a Cultural Reset!! She was singing her heart out and going all out on that choreography. Her foot up on the piano as she slammed the keys??? The set design?? SO GOOD! And her dancers? Shout out to them, because damn they really did that. So, not only is the song amazing, he will always associate it with hearing it to this performance and it is still such a good song!!! The lyrics are insane. She did this when she was 23, only a year older than him, and boy did it light a fire under his ass. 

And it also serves to keep him humble lmfao. Even though he isn’t Famous famous like his other family members he does have his own little corner of fame and can’t be out here falling in love with the attention. 

Coisa Boa - Gloria Groove

Honestly, anything Gloria Groove puts out is pure gold to his ears. They don’t have to go as hard as they do, but they do it anyways! The really pronounced instrument that’s going on? Their singing??? Going from rapping to hitting that note at the end of “Quer papo de ousadia?” absolutely sends Laszlo off the rails. Like, there’s no other way to describe their style than Iconic. It’s fun and fighty and gah! So good!! Also it just being about getting the Squad and going ham is just, chef kisses. Again, his favorite songs are things that get him moving and grooving, and this ones ticks all the marks and so much more. One day they will release an album and on that day someone should check to make sure Laszlo is still alive. 

Toxic - Brittany Spears

I mean what is there to say. The song is iconic, it came out when he was like 17. It was everything and still holds up today. The production on it still just boggles the mind. That like eeeeee sound??? The spy music break in the middle of it?? And the video!!! Art. The fact that she did the back handspring during the laser bit really just made him go insane. Cultural reset from the pop queen of the time. Turned him into a bigger Britney fan. Everything about it is so good. Another nostalgic one, but !! it still holds up baby!! If this is played he is legally required to perform. 

El Mambo - Mon Laferte

Her voice is just?? out of this world. Laszlo is a huuuge fan of everything she puts out but this one really just took him out. Like she can hit some powerful vocals and that’s what the beginning seems like they’re counting up to, but when she came out of the gate just rapping about this guy who needs to get over himself, woooowie. And then she comes back for that mambo sound in the chorus and her beautiful voice going In, ugh. UGH. It’s so good!!! She is amazing and the instruments on this one really highlight that as well as making it groovy enough to dance around to as we say goodbye to toxic men and their overwhelming jealousy!!

Too Little Too Late - JoJo

I’m linking to the 2018 version because JoJo re-releasing all her music so that she can get the cash money from HER music is...stunning, amazing, love her and love that for her. This song was yet another cultural reset. And you know what, she just got better. Her vocals kick ass and the lyrics are still just as good as they were when they first came out. That high register run she does toward the end??? Okay?? go off!!! Another song about a wonderful lady kicking a man out of her life and becoming better for it. also she JUST came out with a Christmas album so go stream it. 

Endless - Frank Ocean

Now this is the whole album because, honestly, that’s how it’s supposed to be listened to. There’s also the visual element that you’re supposed to watch while listening, but since that’s like no where to be found since Mr. Ocean’s people snatched it all up from the internet unless you want to buy it off Apple, this is all we get to work with. Which is fine, honestly. ANYWAYS, this whole album is just so beautiful. And no one really knows the full story behind where it came from or why Mr. Ocean made it, and that’s a whole over layer as to why Laszlo adores it!! Not only is the music stunning but the mystery surrounding it gives him life. Frank Ocean is another artist that he could press random on the entire discography and be happy with whatever decided to play, but THIS album is his favorite from the man. It may seem like the outtakes from Blonde but to Laszlo, they all feel intentional. It’s like peaking into a sketchbook versus the novel of Blonde, and that appeals to him!! There is a certain effort that needs to be put in to listen to it by finding it. So it’s that little bit of extra artistry that makes this album hit different than the others, plus the songs, though some very VERY short, are all GREAT. Every song has this sort of improv feeling almost? but feel effortless like all his other music. Some of them are really short, just snip bits of a song, but they don’t feel that way with how they flow together and cut one another off and it’s just a weird entity of music that feels fleeting and yet...endless.
