(personal) CQL/MDZS Age List

okay so i love THE Masterlist by TheWickling and i refer back to it a lot for remembering stuff but a lot of my personal headcanons conflict with "canon" ages (or as close to canon as the whole community has gotten) so I just wanted to write down my own with some side commentary to explain my choices.

It's not really canon breaking, just some slight tweaks for my own mental sake. (if you ever read my fics this would be the ages i would follow even unspoken). just add or take off a year depending if you wanted to be specific about birthdays cause i didnt lol

this follows a kind of mashup of the drama and the books timelines, because i like how they include a-yao more in the drama :)

anyways - ill put it under the cut

Character - Cloud Recesses - End of SSC - 1st Siege - 2nd Siege

Wei Ying - 16 - 21 - 23 - (MXY is 26, WWX would have been 36)

I think him being a year older than JC and having waited until his brother could go to cloud recesses is very him, also him being older than LWJ before his death then younger after is very funny to me

it also makes his teasing calling LWJ "gege" even more teasing

Lan Wangji / Jiang Cheng / Wen Ning - 15 - 20 - 22 - 35

nothing to really say here, this is canon ages for this group, applies to most other side characters present at CR schooling

Nie Huaisang - 18 - 23 - 25 - 38

mr "maybe ill graduate this year" is on record as having repeated schooling at CR on more than one occasion. I really like the idea of him lying about his age because he has a babyface but everyone knowing he's full of bullshit

Jin Zixuan / Jin Guangyao - 19 - 24 - 26 - 39

im in the "born on the same day means exact same day" camp, also the alternative of a-yao being still in his early teens but being a confidant to Wen Ruohan during the war and that doesnt seem like something he'd to tbh

i know this doesnt make much sense for JZX and being at cloud recesses so late but it's the only piece that doesnt fit so- again, creative license here. It matches up to everything else except that.

Jiang Yanli / Wen Qing / Lan Xichen - 20 - 25 - 27 - 40

JYL and JZX parents were "pregnant around the same" doesn't really read as "five years apart" but i know that she's older than him.

LXC is still "junior age" but like- he's cutting it close. Older than JGY and younger than NMJ so we're all good there

also bonus points to the power thruple for all have older siblings that are the same age lol

Nie Mingjue - 22 - 27 - 29 - (died at 30-31)

i think this is a good bridge for his and his brothers ages, in the movie they dont really look only 1-2 years apart in age, but definitely not like 6-7 years so having NHS be older than his canon age makes more sense to me again

Jin Ling - x - 0 - 2 - 15

canon age *shrugs*

Lan Sizhui / Lan Jingyi / Ouyang Zichen - x - 3 - 5 - 18

i like these three being the same age and Jin Ling being the runt of the quartet, kind of a reversal of the JC/WWX/NHS/LWJ quad

also just a side note, A-yuan talks way to much to be only 2 during the burial mounds arc LMAO (yes i know the actor was 7 but like- hes similar in the other works)

Because I got absolutely blindsided by a Brennan Lee Mulligan quote directed at a player character. Blindsided and struck so hard that I immediately paused, went back, watched again, and started crying.

Oh, god. I don't even know where to go about explaining how deeply this struck me. As someone who was raised not to be angry, but to have faith. Not to be led astray by the world, but to have faith. As someone who doesn't even know what she believes in anymore, but is still reaching for some kind of touchstone of faith because I've lived so long with one I can't fathom any other way. As someone who has over the last almost ten years, had my trust and belief in the goodness, the rightness of the people who raised me absolutely shattered and betrayed by the cruelty, and the injustice performed without any sense of recognition how absolutely and in direct contradiction of everything they told me they believed, everything they told me to believe in.

I was raised conservative, evangelical Christian, and while I definitely haven't been those first two things in a long time I'm still trying to unwind and untangle the damage of some of what I was taught has done to me. What I haven't know for an equally long time is whether or not I'm still the third thing. Right now, in name, I don't think I am. I just cannot in good conscience, in good faith, call myself by a name that is doing and has done such awful, awful things. Watching the people who had always put "faith before politics" fall in line and salute Donald Trump as somehow a good leader let alone a good man absolutely shattered any connection I can have with that title. And if I have to choose between turning my back on my religion or follow that cruel and horrible, horrible man in the Oval Office, then so be it.

So that has left me in the last few years in a really... well, in a really angry place. A liminal space too. Like I'm waiting for something. I don't know what. A sign maybe.

But oh god, this fantasy show about dragons and dice rolls - well. I guess this moment was not unlike a ray of moonlight falling through a slanted archers window.

Villain was feeling great. Todays plan had gone perfectly and now hero’s own sidekick was tied to a chair in front of them. Poor sidekick probably had no idea where they were, Villain smirked.

‘I bet your praying hero is going to show up and save you. I assure you they won’t. They don’t even know where my lair is; besides, do you really think they’ll go through all the effort just to save their stupid little sidekick who got themselves kidnapped?’

Sidekick was shaking. Terrified. Now completely at the villains mercy, their identity was going to be revealed, they just knew it. And then it wouldn’t just be sidekick that will die, but their loved ones too. Hero has told sidekick about villain. Sidekick knew villain was a ruthless killer. Their fear mixed with their guilt for having endangering not only themselves but their friends too. Hero would be so disappointed in sidekick. Villain was right, hero would never bother to save them. It was their own fault that they had messed up and gotten themselves kidnapped.

Villain crouched down and reached out to sidekicks face-

‘Let’s see who’s under this disguise- which I must say, is rather pathetic. Could you not have come up with a better costume for yourself?’, villain joked.

-Sidekick flinched away, but villain swiftly grabbed sidekicks mask and roughly pulled it off their face.

‘I bet you’re-‘,

The villains grin dropped along with their stomach. This was not what they were expecting. Rage shook through villain. Sidekicks face showed nothing but absolute fear.

‘A child. You’re just a child’

Villains face softened as they tried to hide their anger from the kid that sat before them. Hero had sent a child to fight them. A child. How could hero do this? And who was responsible for sidekicks black eye? Villain knew it wasn’t them. Was it hero? When villain got their hands on them-

But that could be dealt with later. Villain needed to focus on the terrified face in front of them.

‘Who told you that was old? Was it hero? You can’t even drink yet, darling. You’re a child.

And to be clear, I am not going to hurt you. I know hero’s probably told you horrible lies about me, but I can assure you, they’re not true… at least most of them aren’t true. But I would never intentionally hurt a child’

Sidekick was shocked by the softness of villains voice, which was completely different from the roughness it had been filled with 2 seconds ago. It was just an act. It had to be. Sure, hero could be harsh to sidekick, but sidekick deserved it right? Hero was just training sidekick.

‘Are you hungry? Injured? Let me patch you up’

Villain gently brushed sidekicks hair out their face to get a better look at the purple bruises forming on their forehead. Sidekick flinched away from the hand, letting out a small whimper.

That was it. Villain vowed they would destroy hero next time they saw them. But first, they have got to help the poor kid.

If youre asking for any atreboda fanfics, luckily i do 💜in no particular order: 1) grounded/uzieminoy , 2) how do i fair? , 3) the stars here are different (i have no idea if deleted or is just for members. Its about angrboda having a dream of her and atreus in a field and it manifesting into them actually kissing in the golden fields of jotunheim. Its a really cute short story) , 4) of monsters and men (not really atreboda focused but they are there. KEEP IN MIND this fic is very violent and graphic but i really love how the author made this. Its not completed yet but there is a sort of happy end.) 5) window seat (was a oneshot but then author wanted it to be a series but discontinued it shortly after 💔), 6) of atreus and calliope (not completely atreboda focused and i havent been up to date with this one as of late, but it is constantly updated. I recommend for the cute and angsty sibling moments with atreus and calliope), 7) blood upon the sands (freytos focused with atreboda involved. Havent finished this either but i recommend 💚)

So I've established what the counselors' jobs are, right? They take care of eggs still in testing? In this particular instance (of debatable canon), Ms. Lion saw that in the current batch of eggs, there was a runt. Just a tiny little thing, small enough to fit in her paw. She knew that the egg wouldn't be able to survive testing for long, so what better option is there than going against everything you know, abandoning your job and your safety, and kidnapping a baby! In trope-y fashion though, She goes to Mr. Wolf's door saying she didn't have anywhere else to go. I was going to make a comic of this but I don't feel like it now >:P. Now Ms. Lion and Mr. Wolf are doing their very best to care for an actual newborn while on the run from the Federation (and their own feelings for one another)

She's got this permanent squinty angry baby face for now. Like a husky with eyebrows. Despite her moody appearance though she's a very sweet baby that spends most of her time around strangers hidden behind her parent's legs.

She's bald for now, because she's a runt baby. Plus if I didn't get hair until I was 3 then neither does she :P

When she DOES get hair though, it'll resemble her Dad's fur more than her Mom's. That design isn't exactly final but her hair is a weird texture atm. Very untamable, like a puppy transitioning into adult fur.
