Am I the only one who sees any fic where Chuuya goes after Dazai when he leaves the Mafia to leave too and goes “huh?” I’m not talking about fics where Chuuya leaves with Dazai, I mean fics where he tracks him down and is like, “I’m leaving too, I’m coming with you.” I just think if there was anything that caused Chuuya to leave the Mafia, I can not see him going after Dazai. I feel like he would just be like, “I am not chasing after that asshole.” Like I know some people are very into the whole ‘loyal dog who follows Dazai’ imagery or dynamic or whatever but I do not vibe with it

Personally I dont care for that trope. But I can see why people like it. Fanfics are for exploring things you would like to see but not as a canon event. Like I wanna see Chuuya snap and go full time villain that the Agency needs to take down in a fic but I dont wanna see it happen in canon cause it would be out of character unless something actually happens to justify it. However, i feel like the fandom tends to treat fanon as gospel, like no, Chuuya would not follow Dazai. His whole thing is that he refuses to be anything but an equal participant when it comes to Dazai. If Dazai had asked him to come along? Sure he might have considered it to some extent cause uts his loyalty to his partner vs his loyalty to the mafia people. But to actually leave he'd need some really substantial motivation. Its like with beast, what all would have had to happen to get Chuuya to despise Dazai so much and still snap when he dies, what needed to happen to get Oda to hate Dazai, what needed to happen to get sskk to swap places? In the world Asagiri mentioned where Dazai and Chuuya left together, something major would need to change.

I also stopped reading fanfics a while ago now so idk if there has been an influx of this trope. Generally speaking the quality of fanfics has been declining what with wattpad users moving their works to ao3 and in general the fandom growing larger. Ofcourse there are some great fics that come up once in a while but most of them are just a rinse and repeat of the same trope because news fans have not read half the content in the ln's. Can you really blame them for mischaracterizing when they only know what the loud side of the skk fandom insists is canon and not having read any of their actual dynamic?

anyways, whilst he always orders a really strong coffee i think after the seventh, "the regular?", hed go no, no i wont, and instead orders the unicorn sprinkle supreme frappe, and he really, really likes it, so he now orders that instead, so long as they dump as much espresso as is legal in the cream and syrup concoction

he is greek, its quite clear reapertale is based off of the hellenic pantheon, so it only makes sense for reapertale characters to be greek, at least somewhat partially

reaper is supposed to be a counter to repeartale papyrus who is a god of painless death, so in my eyes reaper sort of acts a bit like a judge (just like sans in ut), he takes the souls of those who would've gone to the underworld, which begs the question, what the fuck happens to people who die in this world and in the omega timeline in tcoti, because in my eyes, reaper and paps (idk his name im sorry 😭) reap souls and take them to the underworld (limbo/hell) or to elysium/olympia (heaven sorta), but if a soul is destroyed by say someone like error or is irreparably damaged by experiments on the soul, then that soul cannot be reaped and that person just sorta ceases to exist or becomes undead/deathless, its really weird to try and logic it out, a definitive heaven/hell in the same world where there are beings who can rip apart the code and do whatever they please - please author explainnn i just really wanna know what you think

Would you ever write, hmmm, um, Sansby or Soriel? I know (at least I am pretty sure), you like both ships.

The Soriel stuff you rb'ed around Soriel Week was super cute by the way (I esp. loved renrink's stuff, esp. the one for the Unrequited (?) prompt; which was so gorgeous and got me right in the heart. The Underlust!Soreil you drew was also super cute; can always do w/ more UL!Soriel (as well as UL!Sansby).

So yeah, I know you like Soriel (I love it too). Still wanted to ask about it.

...However, I wanted to ask even more about if you would do/write Sansby (which, I know/pretty sure you like too. I love it too), because I am pretty sure in UL, Sansby was a thing (I think. Either way, I like UL Sansby a lot), but in ULR, Sans and Grillby hate each other. Why you gotta do us Sansby and/or UL Sansby fans like that, huh? Almost as bad as when Lynx japed/tricked us into thinking there might be nice, cute Soriel in Paper Trail; only for Sans to be basically trying to get info out of Toriel. Why must you both do us like this?

If you can't tell, I am not really being serious about; I mainly joking. Though, that stuff in Paper Trail did actually really get me though (loved how that conversation between Sans and Tori was written though), and Sans and Grillby hating each other in ULR does hurt my (I also find it really, really funny though. PS: I had such trouble figuring out how to do Asks. I couldn't find a way to send you an Ask if the your Tumblr was in fullscreen; I had to change and make it desktop/not fullscreen in order send this ask. It was so weird. It probably had something to do with your Tumblr's format change/new look (which, really surprised me, and took some getting used to. Esp. it being Green and not purple; though I really like both colors. And also the Underverse Ink Gif being gone; though I also like the 3 Pink Sanses (Classic, Ink, and Blue) that you have in the top right corner now though. As for your first question, maybe! I've never been too big on writing ship things much to begin with tbh, not because I have anything against them, but just cause I don't really get the same enjoyment out of them as I do writing self insert fics... but AU versions are fun! Not like how we have in the UT fandom but more like regular AU things, such as like an old scrapped fic i had for another fandom where the two characters were princes from opposing kingdoms but they couldn't marry because it would not benefit their families. The original show had nothing to do with that. Those are fun. So are the classic coffee shop or university AUs. So something like that for Soriel or Sansby would be fun too!

For the record though, I don't have anything against Sansby. I find it humorous that Grillby in canon literally says like nothing and yet a ship came out of Sans owing him money, but nothing against the ship. There's a lot of cute work out there with it and I could have sworn I'd reblogged some at som point? Hm. Maybe I'll just have to reblog more 👀✨

I think I may have said this a long time ago, before the rename for ULR; but Ace's role is probably one of the closest to his original character in UL, I merely added on to it and tweaked the story behind the Lust serum. Hugo and Ace did not always hate each other, in fact they were just as close as their UL counterparts at one point! But something happened that caused them to split, and the falling out didn't end well.

Also, as for the asks format changing, that's on Tumblr! They've been very glitchy and terrible on desktop. Hopefully my new theme hasn't broken them completely on top of that. It worked for me when I double-checked it, since I know a lot of people have been having issues with the update and literally everyone wants it to go back 😂 sorry you had such a struggle tho!

I've seen a thread on ig about how Undertaker was probably never Claudia's lover, and I know you kinda ship them or at least are a believer of the UT=Cedric theory, I kinda am too and I tried not to be bias while reading that post but I feel like their points were rlly weak. Here are some points that tried to debunk UTxClaudia: 1. Cedric canonly has a birth and a death date which means he is human (lol).

2.Because UT was already a shinigami when he met Clau, we need to ask ourselves some questions: Why should a shinigami be able to have children? Since the shinigami duty is a punishment for those who commited suicide. Being able to live a nice life, have kids and interfere with human affairs and lives does not respect those facts.

3. Isn't it weird for him to fall in love with someone that was born 24 yrs after he came to the human world?

4. UT expressed strong feelings toward all the other mourning lockets and Vincent especially. Why would Claudia be more important than the rest of them?

Idk but when I read this I went ??? a bit cause I dont think it rlly debunks anything :/.. or maybe I cant see it that way cause I'm a fan of the theory/ship. However I wanted to see the side of a theorist/ an analytical pov, so what do u think?

Anyway, I’ve received asks like this before, but it’s usually from people who think more like that thread on ig. You can try searching my blog with some of the tags on this post, like #cedric k. ros—, etc. But let me see if I can pull up something that gets to the heart of this ask....

....Um, it’s really spread out over way too many posts for me to grab that many links. Anyway, a search for “cedric k ros” brought up a ton of posts generally on this topic.

Also, my beliefs have changed somewhat over the years. I wonder how old that ig thread is, since we’ve learned a lot more canon information on Undertaker and the Phantomhive family since I first joined the discussion of Undertaker’s true identity. So, I’ll address each part of your ask here and now.

Cedric has a canon birthdate and death date, so he must be human. Well, it means he must have once been human, but it doesn’t mean he’s a mere human now. Besides, the years of his birth and death are rather conveniently covered up by a speech bubble. The rest of his last name, too. Go check out all my #cedric of rotherwood posts. Cedric might have lived and died centuries ago, might have become a reaper long ago, too.

Shinigami having kids breaks the rules. Reapers being able to have children could actually be part of their punishment... if my theory is correct that reapers are reborn as a form of karmic reincarnation. That would mean reapers are born to biologically female reapers, who definitely do exist; there just don’t appear to be as many of them, which fits suicide statistics. A reaper having children with a human goes against reaper rules, since they are not supposed to meddle in human affairs... just collect souls. Technically, they don’t even judge the souls, they just follow a protocol to verify it’s that person’s time to die. This doesn’t mean it’s impossible; it just does, in fact, mean Undertaker is breaking reaper rules. But he’s obviously doing that anyway. Why not break all of them? 🤨 Edit: There’s a good reason for him to want to have children with human females (not even necessarily just one), for the very reason that it skirts around this punishment of making more reapers with reaper females. Reapers like Undertaker, who might be mating with humans, can cause the reaper organization to become even more understaffed over time. That’s something else I have mentioned before in my theory about them being reborn. There could even be a backlog of souls from suicide victims that are waiting around for new reaper bodies to be placed into. And the way Ronald flirts with females both in the reaper realm and the human realm suggests that Undertaker isn’t the only one who might be spreading around his reaper genes... changing the very nature of humanity over the generations.

It’s weird that Undertaker would fall in love with a human within however many years of deserting his post. Not weird at all, plus we don’t know whether love is the only thing that might have brought them together. Also, 24 years is merely a guess... and not a very good one. 136649 tried to destroy reaper HQ ~70years before 1889, so around 1819. The year these three things historically happened: 1. Queen Victoria was born, 2. Prince Albert was born, and 3. (Sir) Walter Scott introduced the world to Cedric of Rotherwood in Ivanhoe. He even invented that name, Cedric. Undertaker says he hadn’t been called a reaper in about 50years. That suggests two things: 1. He not only failed to destroy the HQ, but he also might have been captured, punished, and returned to his work as a reaper until he finally deserted about 20years later, and 2. If he didn’t actually manage to escape until around 1839 or thereabouts, then Cloudia/Claudia was just a kid at the time. Undertaker might have become involved in the Phantomhive family’s “work” before she became watchdog; he might have been an informant to her father, for example.

Why should he care more about Cloudia/Claudia than the other people on the lockets or Vincent? If he loved her, and if she bore his children, then it would explain this quite easily. Who wouldn’t cry over the death of their child? These other six people represented by the other lockets must also have been particularly dear to him, for various possible reasons. But he seems to focus the most on her locket. It’s also placed directly in the center of the chain; they are not in order of death dates. (In fact, their last initials create a pretty cool set of notes, with Phantomhive becoming an F or an F# [F sharp]. Please see #lockets’ melody and #leitmotif posts that date as far back as 2016). And more recently, her locket (and her locket alone) has become a symbol of Undertaker in series merchandise. Them having been lovers would explain it pretty well, I should think! And, if I’m right that “136649” means he became the 49th registered reaper of 1366, then Cloudia/Claudia died (was killed) not just on a Friday the 13th... but also 500 years after Undertaker was registered as a reaper.

Their closeness doesn't matter because they are video game characters and will conform to whatever the game design needs them to. They don't matter because they are fictitious, and the game never calls attention to it, not even once.

I'll be honest, I have no idea what you're talking about here. Not even a single clue. What do you mean their closeness doesn't matter? What does being a fictional character have to do with whether or not they are close to each other? What does game design have to do with this? What do you mean they don't matter because they are fictional? You mean in relation to things that are real? I mean, that's obvious, of course that real things matter more, but that's not what this discussion is about. And also, what do you mean by "the game never calls any attention to it"? What is the grammatical object you're referring to by the "it" here?

On that note, the rest of this paragraph makes no sense to me either. "not every single piece of game design needs an in-universe explanation" seems like something someone would say in order to clap back at a perfectionist, even though that's not what I was getting at here at all, so what gives? As for you bringing up Toby avoiding the gender debate, he does that since he wants to avoid controversy, to avoid pouring gasoline into the fire so to speak, so I can only understand you choosing to interpret his silence in your favor as a disingenuous attempt at scoring a rhetorical win.

"They" can be a stand-in for ambiguous gender, and it most likely was anyways for Frisk at first, but at some point, the monsters have gotta learn the right pronouns and start applying them correctly; at some point, it stops being the case, and as I've shown in my first response, I think Flowey's line is a proof of this.

Moving onto your second paragraph, idk where you got the info that Chara wasn't in the underground for that long. We know it wasn't too brief for them and Asriel to remain strangers, but also not too long for Chara to properly integrate, granted. But that's also all the information we have, and deriving anything else from it is sketchy at best. Toriel's words from the alarm clock text can also be interpreted in a multitude of ways, and the canonicity of Deltarune in relation to Undertale is also debatable. (I personally completely separate the two. Call it coping or whatever, but until Toby explicitly says so, this will be my stance.)

It still wouldn't matter cause people use "they/them" on people they know all the time, even when they know their gender identity isn't nb, so it could just be the default for monsters.

Well, granted, this is something I've mentioned before, that the "third person plural" is definitely a thing, particularly in German and also my own native language, Czech (albeit highly archaic by now). However, to my knowledge, there's no instance of this happening in the game aside from Frisk.

As for your third paragraph, I am not familiar with any other RPGs, I am only talking about this single one. To suggest that I couldn't possibly understand Undertale because I don't know certain other outside things is... perhaps true, and I've tried to learn a bit more about other RPGs, but in all honesty, it just seems to me like with those, the concept itself is incredibly vague and usually not meta at all. (Certainly not as meta as in Undertale.)

This, plus the fact that UT is unconventional and tries to break many biases inherent to this game genre, is why I'm okay with not analyzing it on those terms and accept the possibility that other explanations for its elements could exist too. Simply put, it's still a contradiction to me. Either they are us, or they are not and have their own personhood, their own attributes, names, pronouns, etc. Any metaphor they might represent is just that, a metaphor, with no actual tangible effect on, or implications for, the in-game universe.

I'll agree on one thing, which is that certain things about these characters are inherently unknowable, because they are unstated. But that's a territory of headcanons, not factual debate. You can make up any info in that regard, and also project yourself onto those unknowable aspects. Both of those actions are valid. But again, only in regards to that which is canonically left unsaid. You can't change the canon, otherwise you're making an alternative universe.

Coincidentally, yeah, I agree that Frisk's skin belongs into the "headcanon" category, since I can't find any canon evidence that they're actually dark-skinned specifically. (Though again, it is a neat headcanon. For example, I chose to give Frisk in my story a distinctly uncommon skin color for where they come from.)

About the fourth paragraph, I actually completely agree with that. That's exactly what I meant. I thought you meant the exact opposite of this. The point is, I separate the meta from the story itself, since I find the two incompatible with each other. And for that same reason, I cannot for example headcanon Chara as a mere stand-in for some player metaphor. I do not doubt that that's what they represent from a Doylist perspective (in the no mercy route specifically), but the representation is not canon to me; it doesn't impact the story in any way under my interpretation of the canon.

Okay, final paragraph. I... dunno what to say, honestly. I especially dunno why you came to me with it specifically, since I cannot really help you in any way. If someone's bothering you, then just ignore them, simple as that. As long as you don't stir up any trouble yourself, then all is good. Peace and love on the planet earth and all that. I may disagree with you on thinking of Kris as a "he", but I wouldn't want to chop your head off over it or anything.

I just want you to know that I personally think that Susie using "they" for Kris does matter canonically, that it is indicative of their true pronouns, and dismissing it on the basis of "game design" or "the meta" or "I just wanna project myself onto this character more authentically / it's easier for me" is factually incorrect, and especially trying to claim the author's intention for yourself, as standing up for your personal values and no one else's, is low, like, really really low.

(P.s., "Susie and Kris are close friends && Susie is using they/them for Kris => Kris is they/them" seems entirely common-sense to me. If a character says something new, I interpret it as part of the lore, unless I have a reason to doubt they're lying or are ignorant or something. Sometimes, even a minor off-the-cuff fact can completely flip the whole script around. I've had a few moments like this myself with UT's lore, particularly regarding monster biology, soul magic, the save power, etc. And yes, it was very difficult for me, accepting these new insights as facts instead of simply dismissing them. When you're emotionally invested in something, it is entirely natural to be critical of things that contradict it, even if doing so seems illogical to an outsider. I don't blame you for this, but do try to look at it from a distance occasionally. Some of your arguments were a bit subpar due to your personal biases, so I think a little perspective might improve your dialectical skills. Just a little advice from your local UT theorist!)

Hi, I've read your post regarding the interpretive gender of Kris, Frisk, and Chara, and I really love those posts. It helps remind me I'm not alone in think ling their genderis up to interpretation. But after seeing some recent reblogs. I was kinda worried that you don't believe that anymore, and I'm here to ask if you still do.

Well, after I reviewed all the evidence, I came to the conclusion that Kris and Chara are canonically they/them, while Frisk's pronouns are unknown. However, it is a nice and fitting headcanon that they too are they/them, imo.

It also is debatable whether, at the very end of the game, the others are already familiar enough with Frisk that they're no longer using they/them as a polite generic pronoun and rather as Frisk's personal pronoun. (And since Frisk never told Asriel their pronouns, only their name, I don't necessarily consider this to be the case yet.)

That said...

Depending on where in the timeline this line fits and how close of a friend Flowey is to Frisk at this point, it could be considered a confirmation.

kris - professional stay at home teen (they live w/ asgore n help run the flower shop sometimes. this decision was entirely bc i dont like toriel). was wrongly diagnosed w Sudden Soul Rejection when they were incredibly young and given an experimental transplanted soul as a replacement. it works for them fine, give or take having to see gaster once a month for checkups. but sometimes the soul makes them skittish n decides they're going to sit in front of the pc and play 30 consecutive hours of a certain simulation game and not even let them drown people in the pool. if it were entirely up to them, they'd be like. passing out on the sofa to documentaries about bigfoot. or practicing cool knife tricks to impress their friends at their next tabletop meetup

asgore - the same. runs a lil flower/gift shop. people come in more to talk with him than to buy flowers most of the time, though

asriel Flowey - he's back in flower form, thanks to the government an accident. causes a lot of technology glitches wherever he goes, and wants revenge. isn't sure how to go about it. asriel "died" around 8 years before the story takes place and kris still misses him and refuses to even THINK about even the IDEA of calling someone their sibling after what happened, just in case it somehow happens a second time

susie - more of the same really. she spends most of her time either at grillby's (she's sort of become his assistant n helps with opening/closing. it just happened) or getting into low-stakes trouble w/ kris

noelle - she's in the city's equivalent of college and shes so tired. shes So Abysmally Tired n got kinda pushed 2 follow in her mom's footsteps. she's rarely around anymore except through text or on monsters & mages (dnd) night. (however.........she will come back w/ a long break n hang out w everyone again)

sans - runs a convenience store that everyone kind of thinks is a front, but also it has really cheap snacks and the local teens make a point of stopping there after school. so essentially, more of the same papyrus - similar to ut. is a very polite and sweet boy but you'll know when he's coming

grillby - he's back. he runs a bar like back in ut but the cozy vibes and weird-for-a-bar hours keep attracting kids who need parents, so half of his menu is comprised of overly sweet mocktails. usually only frequented by monsters

QC - same as usual. has a "rivalry" with grillbz but, theyre besties and have a book club

mettaton - he's real and he's back. he's similar to how he is back in ut w/ his EX body. likes to hang out at grillby's and talk to unsuspecting fans. has a show for everything

napstablook - similar to how they are in ut. helps mtt with making music sometimes. doesn't leave the house too often, but spends a lot of time posting on undernet

undyne - unfortunately. more of the same. she is a cop in the monster district. i am also upset by this but couldn't think of anything better for her

alphys - a doctor studying under dr. gaster in the hopes she'll one day take over his research. she spends most of her time as a nurse with a bigger title, though, and blocks out the weirdness of her job with anime.

gaster - weird guy. H01's top soul researcher and resident House wannabe. trying to manufacture the ultimate soul that can be controlled with simple internal switches, but so far he's only had 1 (very limited) success with a certain human. monsters just melt, and darkners just sorta......get weird... he's onto Something, though.

ralsei - lonely boy with some very strange hobbies. popular on UnderNet for poetry, baking videos, and general cryptid vibe. is the DM for the monsters & mages group (also seems to think everything is actually very fine in H01 when it is very much not)

lancer - about the same. professional Round Boy. lives w/ rouxls full time. follows susie around like a lost puppy and calls himself her "underling."

rouxls - runs a hotel/casino kind of deal where the objective Bad Guys hang out, and usually ends up doing any of the spade king's paperwork.

spade king - mafia godfather. kind of a dick. don't play cards with him

seam - works with the spade king as his right hand cat more or less because they have for a lot of years and are in that 'sunk cost fallacy' zone. thinks of retiring to a quiet life in the monster section of town like, daily

jevil - used to work with the spade king, but got imprisoned for Crimes. got weird after The Accident (separate from asriel's accident)

temmies (all) - dont really get mentioned except offhandedly but they run the monster space station. so far, are the only monsters who have ever been to space.

as far as chapter 2 goes:

yeah i dont have much so far for characters. in the original version of the au i accidentally made darkners as a whole just kinda..... not great? like all sorts of weird organized crime ties n sort of going out of their way to be A Problem to the city (not even in like. a revolution way. in a working against them but with the same goals kinda way). with the whole context it worked At The Time, bc i just had the spade king to look to as a villain, and also in this au the darkners are just trying to survive a world that ultimately was not built for them (that humans think they own, and monsters sort of... seeing this and wondering what it'll mean for them whichever one wins), but w/ new info abt how the dark world works n more guys to work with i want to kind of. edit the vibe a bit. like yea darkners will ultimately do whatever it takes to take over H01, but maybe in a better way than like. idk. all this. it doesnt have to be peaceful or anything it just has to be more adaptable as we meet more kinds of darkners

however yeah i thought up 'queen as some sort of childless mommy blogger/influencer' and that completely revived all memory i had of this au. she should be on mtt's talkshow. also she sells collectible wine glasses w/ her likeness

I do my best to, although admittedly sometimes I don't do that immediately and then I forget and then I feel too awkward to reply when I remember again a million years later. Anyway, I do it because I love interacting with other fans and talking about my fics and stuff!

What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

I don't really know. It kind of depends on whether you feel like meta knowledge that the characters will in the future be alright makes the ending less angsty or not? Because like A 25th of May and The Darkness of Moria arguably have pretty depressing endings if you take it at face value with where I leave the characters in the story, but anyone who reads them is going to have the meta knowledge that things will get better for the characters, eventually, and no one's gonna die who isn't dead already, and all that, since Darkness of Moria is pre-canon and 25th is pre-canon to all of City Watch books aside from Night Watch.

But on the other hand if you say that if the reader has meta knowledge of the character's survival/that things will get better for them negates the angst, then those aren't too bad. I would say that in that case, Forest of Death, Bloodstains, and But There Is Silence At My Side are my angstiest endings (idk in what order, I'm bad at picking specific ones anyway) since the first two of those deal with The Whole Savoy Thing in Musketeers, which... nothing that happens in canon makes it less painful or more ok that it happened, and in those fics I purposefully chose not to give the characters involved really any kind of emotional closure, since the angle I took in my fics was one where I felt those issues I brought up weren't really resolved at all in any way until the stuff came up in the actual tv show. And But There Is Silence At My Side deals with grief immediately after the death of several close friends of the main characters of the fic, and since the fic was very brief and set during like, the space of an afternoon and an evening, like just over a handful of hours, it wasn't long enough time to handle the way grief becomes tolerable over time, but instead leaves the characters still in the early stages of mourning.

I mean, I come up with ideas I'd love to write, and I've even started writing a few, but I've never gotten any to a point where I'd begin posting them. Idk about particularly crazy, though both my Musketeers of Valdemar crossover AU and my The Warlock and the Hooded Man are crossovers between a decently popular fairly recent BBC show, and an older more obscure fantasy thing.
