a/n - i’m realizing this is more focused on eddie than wayne😭😭 it's okay i still love it. thank you for requesting angel!!

By the third album Eddie has played for you, you are more convinced that he likes listening to screaming and loud guitar more than actual rock. You’d never say that to his face though, your relationship a bit too new and fresh for that amount of teasing. Maybe one day you’ll work up the courage. 

Eddie is saying something over the music, looking at you earnestly. You reach over the center console of his van and turn down the dial before you have to ask him to repeat it and he forgets it all. He does that often, acts like his mind is in ten different places at all times. You can’t help but smile at him now, his frizzy hair haloing his face like he’s been fighting the wind. (He really just stuck his head out the window while driving earlier.)

“I couldn’t hear you over the music,” You explain at his look. His confusion switches to something else entirely, his teeth shining beneath the nearby street lights. Something you have told him before is that he reminds you of the Cheshire cat when he smiles like this; full of teeth and frizzy hair. 

He huffs out a laugh, his breath rustling pieces of his hair. “I said..” He starts, and you know that you’re in for it. His head tips downward and to the side, his mouth finding your cheek. “That you should sleepover tonight.” A shiver shot down your spine; whether it was from his words or his warm breath against your skin, you weren’t sure.

Your breath hitches, just a little, before you can help it. Eddie must feel it, because he abandons his kisses to pull away to look at you. “Only if you want to,” He adds softly, yet you can tell he really wants you to. Even if you didn’t, you very much do, it’d be hard to say no to his pretty face. 

You nod, slowly, but not because you’re uncertain. More like that hesitance that still sits between you two, the one that comes with new relationships. Like you’re both trying to figure out the rules of a game you created. “Yeah,” you say quietly, “I want to.”

The smile he gives you is reward enough for your hesitation. He kisses you, on the lips this time, short and sweet and a little chapped. When he pulls away, you’re both smiling. 

The drive to Eddie’s trailer is short, since you’re coming from a gas station parking lot that’s only a little down the road. The windows are down, wind making his hair even bigger, if that was possible. When you arrive, headlights shining against the front door of the trailer, Eddie pauses after putting it in park. 

“My uncle is home,” he says slowly, a tone unusual, but not unwelcoming from him. He looks over at you, almost as if he’s bracing for something. 

“Oh,” you say stupidly, because that’s the first thing that comes out. You’ve never met his uncle, despite having heard a handful of stories about him from Eddie. “Is that okay?”

He nods, then shrugs. “Yeah I just.. wanted you to know. Just in case you thought we were gonna be alone.”

You decide he’s being a bit silly as Eddie pulls open for you both. You’ve been here a couple times, for afterschool hangouts and on the weekends. You’re actually more surprised that you haven’t met Wayne already.

“Wayne?” Eddie calls out, dragging out his name dramatically. “I’m home.” 

As you step deeper into the trailer, its familiar scent wafts into your nose; motor oil, cologne, and a little bit of cigarettes. You hear before you see a sitcom playing quietly on the small tv, and that’s when you see Wayne. He’s slumped on the lumpy couch, a beer in his hand resting on his thigh. He looked exhausted, but you don’t miss the softness in his eyes as he looks at Eddie; then his eyes land on you. He wasn’t an old man, despite his graying hair and even grayer beard. 

Eddie holds out a hand behind him, urging you forward gently. His hand moves up to rest where your neck and shoulder meet, giving you a comforting squeeze. He introduces you, saying your name like it’s the cure for some disease and he’s proud to show it off.

“Hello,” You say, giving him a smile that you hope doesn’t look as shy as you feel. Your heartbeat pumps in your ears, palms a bit slick with sweat. “It’s nice to meet you.”

After a moment, Wayne smiles at you; you get the impression that this isn’t something he does very often. He tells you to sit, offering you food or a drink; the only reason you decline is because you’re sure that he’d made Eddie to get up and get it for you. 

Wayne isn’t a quiet man, you realize. Not shy either, he’s able to hold conversation and eye contact, and asks you questions about school and your family. It’s Eddie that’s being quiet, a rare occurrence that usually only happens when he’s upset, overwhelmed, or he’s busy watching something. Or someone. The latter, you figure, is the reason for right now. Why he’s sat on the armchair diagonally from you and Wayne, not saying much. You catch his eye every once in a while, but he just smiles at you. Like he’s exactly where he wants to be. 

Wayne’s voice fades in the background as Eddie’s gaze lingers, studying the way you sit on his couch, feet tucked beneath you, hands curled in your lap. He can tell you’re still a little nervous, sitting in his space with his family, but everytime he smiles at you like that, you’re reminded why you’re here. Why you’re doing this for that boy, the one with a loud laugh, gentle hands, and silver rings. When you catch Eddie’s eye again, he doesn’t say or do anything. Like this, right here, is all he wants.

Do you think pope is embarrassed/ uncomfortable with PDA? Especially in front of his family?

He gives me the vibe that he would hate pda but at the same time maybe he loves it? Maybe he likes claiming his girl, especially if someone else flirts with her. Idk?

this is such a good question!! i don't think pope is embarrassed particularly, because i think some part of him would really like that other people get to see that he finally has what he wanted, maybe like some part of him that thinks he could never be 'normal' in the way he wanted so this is his way of almost feeling normal? if that makes sense? like normal in the way that you never flinch away from his hands, that you lean against his arm and rest your head against him when you're both standing and waiting in some line (probably coffee, probably for you, he likes the stuff at home but you like going out for it and he takes you even though he already had a cup that he made). normal in the way that you smile and hug him when he comes to pick you up at your door (before you two live together) even when your neighbors are around, even if his brothers are there... idk i love him so much and i honestly don't know how anyone would resist being affectionate because he's so touch starved.

and in the same way he's a 'my wife this' and 'my wife that' kind of guy, i think he is clingy but not PDA, if that makes sense. especially in front of his family! i don't think he'd let you walk anywhere by yourself, i don't think his hand would leave your thigh at the dinner table, i don't think he would let go of your waist if you were standing. that i think is the possessiveness coming out because he's worried if he lets go you will literally disappear and get sucked into his family's issues and he won't get you back. i also think esp for wifey (i just love them bad lol) he would be so guarded bringing you around everyone but he can't separate it because he wants to marry you and have you protected incase something happens to him.. you know what i really think?? i think he gets affectionate more often in front of baz or smurf because he knows those are the people who would be most threatened by him having someone just in his corner.. like actually does not let go of your body, he's in complete guard dog mode. which is why him going to prison and having to entrust you in their care would be so much more angsty... has to ask baz to take care of you and torments himself because he just is plagued by what might happen if baz decides he wants you for himself or whatever the case might be. and also smurf who he knows would never like you, since you keep him level-headed and calm and smurf likes being the only one who can do that. but like i said i think smurf would play the long game with wifey and try to be nice to her to manipulate pope through her.

this is not even what you asked, i'm so sorry. i think after prison so when the show starts pope would be extremely clingy and guarded and doesn't want to expose you to his family but if he has to, trust that he's there hovering right behind you with a hand on your waist, always takes the seat right next to you, doesn't let you get in anyone else's car and gets angry if they won't let you stay for family meetings, through which he keeps one tense hand on your knee the entire time. i think all he says is my wife and i think yeah, he's not making out with you in front of everyone all day or being sappy and soft like you two are at home, but it's very clear to anyone with eyes that you two are very attached. and i think when he gets hurt and you're there to help him or whatever is one of the only times he doesn't care what everyone sees and is just happy that you're there with him. like that scene where he's bleeding coming out of the pool, like he lets you run up to him in your swimsuit and fuss over his wound while the others watch, or when his arm got hurt in the ambulance, like doesn't say anything when you (obviously) run to him first or when you check on it over the next few days and i think he just likes it when others can see how much you care about him, even if he's not physically showing it to them through pda. and do not get me started on guard dog pope when someone tries to flirt with you lol i'll be here for hours

Glad you love my rambles, because I've gotten the brainworms on this AU! And yes, I will continue to endlessly speculate (aka ramble) everywhere on everything to do with this, like right now hehe.

I don't know if it's worse for Sashanne to never mend things, or for them to mend things then fall apart again. Both are ripe for letting toxicity flourish (and are very juicy in that regard), but is it worse for there to never have been any hope of getting better in the first place and things simply festered in the True Colors era of terribleness? Or it worse for there to have been hope, only for it to be crushed and wither away until things are right back where they started? Either way, the yuri is soooooooo toxic that I feel bad for poor Luz unknowingly walking into the middle of this. This mama has gone through a whole lot of trauma, but idk if she's ready for Sashanne's specific brand of it.

Yeah, Luz's childhood and the world being drastically different (i.e., life under the knowledge of a potential amphibian alien invasion in the future) was very unlikely, but it's fun speculation regardless of there being some ripple effects from Mr. X and Anne's brief reappearence on Earth.

Speculating on the personal reasons to not go to Earth:

Sasha doesn't have anyone to come back to, what with her parents' divorce and all. Marcy (in whatever capacity she still exists) and Anne are with Darcy's castle at any given moment unless Anne is out monitering or cleaning up a rebellious world, with Grime (and any possible frog friends she made in the resistance, if that arc is to happen in this AU) being back on Amphibia.

Anne doesn't return out of guilt/fear of her parents seeing what she's become.

The lack of a Hop Pop mention in the list of surviving Amphibians has me worried 😭. Is it just old age that gets him? (I sure HOPE that's all it is.) But at the same time, yay! Earth and Amphibia are okay! Yeah, it's at the cost of countless worlds, but we the audience know and care all about the homes of our once-protagonists (and current protagonist in Luz's case), whereas the worlds being conquered are faceless entities. At least until Darcy and their Heralds pull up on the Boiling Isles' doorstep. Then oh no!

Yeah, I can see a scene where Luz and company are able to move and hide the new portal door in the intial chaos of Frogvasion, and when Sasha captures Luz, she refuses to talk and give up its location. To which Sasha and Anne are just like, "...what? Nah, we don't care about that at all" and to demonstrate, they casually rip open a portal to another world or Earth. Which then becomes another aura/oh-shit moment because for the TOH cast, interdimensional travel is only possible with the blood of the primordial being whose dead body makes up all the lands and from which all magic is created, or from the starchild who is functionally a god.

And then these two humans (or once-humans) can just do it on a whim whenever they want. No need for tethering the power of a god to a fixed construct like a door.

(It would also be a good scene in a fic or a full story for organically introducing that bit of background lore to the readers. Luz is worried that Darcy wants to use the portal door to invade Earth, but then Sasha and/or Anne shoot down that idea and bring up the negotiations they made. Which, while it is a relief to the characters and audience, it then loops back around to worry, because what does Darcy want with Luz then?? (And there's still the fact that the Boiling Isles are fair game for being conquered.))

(It also serves as more characterization and humanization of Sashanne. They're doing terrible things, but they still care about their homes and loved ones, at least. Just that it comes at the expense of everyone else in the multiverse.)

I love your joke comic idea about Luz accusing the Core of having done something to Anne and Sasha (because why else would they be so terrible and toxic to each other?), only for Darcy to just snort and be like, "nah man, they were this way long before we got involved." (And I'm sure the Core feeds the flames of that toxicity, because keeping Anne and Sasha divided and at each other's throats is another layer of insurance to make sure they don't try and resist or rise up against Darcy.)

There could also be humor/jokes as Luz realizes these two god-like beings who have been terriyfing her world are:

her age or maybe even younger (3 years after Belos' death, she is 18, and Anne would be 17)

even worse, they're MARRIED??? Luz is out here living her best, yuriful life in her isekai world with her awesome girlfriend, meanwhile these two are the definition of "please get a divorce"

As funny as it would be for the multiverse's most divorced not-divorced couple to be younger than perpetual honeymoonphase lumity, they are a fair bit older.

In hindsight I think I should've written that the date in Luz's journal is 4 or 5 new era, but oh well path not taken. Suffice to say, the Calamity Girls are 29 (Marcy might be 30 at this point not that she gets to enjoy it), and Luz is 18 to 20. It's been about 12 or 13 years since the girls went to Amphibia, and they've been doing this multiverse conquest thing for a decade or so.

The Core being what it is and making them do what they do definitely isn't helping things, but let's be honest it doesn't have to do much to make Sasha and Anne's relationship more toxic, they are very good at doing that themselves.

There is indeed Monster Alcohol; It differs how many other items infused with Magic are. Sometimes, depending on the Monster brewing said drinks, you can get some crazy or really helpful boosts/additions! But, you can also get some pretty bad ones along with it... Depends where one goes, truthfully! Or what AU one is in, I like to think~ (Guess DND rules apply here; I wished I was more into that world somewhat)

As for the Boys Favorites... I'm only going to do the boys I'm comfortable with;

Underswap; -Blue(Or Blitz) absolutely LOVES any type of human alcohol, but he does prefer beers over anything sweet. The larger the %, the better chance he'll get a hint of being tipsy. He can drink Monster Alcohol, just hates the perks that go with it while the Human version gives him no backlashes or the likes. Does he get tipsy off Monster Alcohol? A little quicker, sure... But man, something about those beers humans make tastes way better to him?? (Also likes the looks he gets- People think he'd be a sweet drinker or get those fancy drinks... Hell no, give him some shots, even. Dude's hardcore in the alcohol area... Just has to hide it.) -Stretch/Honey(Or Hal) doesn't like anything with alcohol in any aspects. Says no matter how small the % is, he can still smell and taste the alcohol within it. He'll only drink if it's a celebration- But will split it with someone. (He ends up giving practically the whole thing to whoever he's 'sharing' with...)

Swapfell Red; -Mutt(Russell) actually can handle Monster Alcohol WAY better than he can with Human Alcohol... To this day, he still doesn't understand WHY he can't handle the Human drinks?? But, despite easily getting drunk; Least it's a quick way if he wants to get hammered and get out of his foul mood quick. Yeah, he's going to be a crab the next day due to a horrible hangover; Maybe out for 2 days; But... He's also hasn't drank any Monster Alcohol primarily due to his ex, regrettably, having the best alcohol he's ever had and since breaking up with her-(Muffet in his AU, she's made one hell of a brew that has a high addiction level he's had to wean himself off back in the day)- He's really hated other alcohol any other monster has brewed. 'don't taste right' he says... But, he'll still down whatever alcohol is put in front of him; Be it Monster or Human type, and he's not picky at all with what he gets. -Black(Regal) is the Monster Wine drinker of the bunch; However, he will ONLY get it from one of his own members of his world. He has ironically a close-nit relationship with his Gillby, who just so happens to have specially made Wine just for him. It depends on the time of month; But he really enjoys the Mulberry Wine or Chokeberry Wine the best.

Swapfell Purple; -Gray(Nutty) actually doesn't get drunk to any of the alcohol types! He doesn't like the flavors much, unless it's got that hidden alcohol and he's just going to drink it like juice... Or if someone bets him they could out drink him- Dude's going to have fun watching that! But he's also has one hell of a type of ability to tell what's in a drink by scent alone... (That helped him not get drugged in his own AU back in the day; He does love to tell others what's in the drink, too! Nice party trick!) -Slick(Cash/Ghost) is the one who drinks constantly; Morning, lunch, and evening, dude will always have some type of alcohol in his clutches. Doesn't care what it is, so long as it helps his thirst-.... For a little bit. (He's super gross with it sometimes, too- Drinks old beers if he's short on cash.)
