The Hermit Reversed (Isolation, loneliness, withdrawal)

Thea wanders in well after the rest of them. She's got lipstick on her collar and she's put her armor on in a hurry, doing her best to look like she doesn't want anyone to notice where she's been, but of course Idalia knows Thea well enough by now to know Thea likes showing off. Their shore days can be in a city the crew hasn't been to once, and Thea'll still wrap some pretty barmaid round her finger by the time the night's over, making all sorts of promises she knows she won't be there to keep tomorrow.

It's a talent that takes the average pirate a long fucking time to cultivate--and here's Thea, only a few months at sea and better at it than the rest of them combined. Idalia isn't jealous, though. She knows Thea better than most. "Long night?" she says.

"Like you wouldn't believe," says Thea. She makes a production of massaging her jaw.

"You know we're still in town for another night," says Idalia. "Closing that deal with Ryder and her crew. You don't have to hurry back to the ship every time."

Thea looks blankly at Idalia. "You're expecting me to stay on land? And do what?"

"I don't know," says Idalia loftily. "Cuddle with the lass of the week a bit? It can't be all that good if they all send you running out the door like your arse is on fire, after."

"Oh, fuck you," says Thea. She begins to take off her half-on armor. The lipstick marks are vigorous and just about everywhere.

"I'm just saying--"

"I know what you're just saying, Daly." Thea tosses the armor into her trunk. "You know it's not the end of the fucking world if I don't want to settle down. I'd think you of all people would get that."

"Oh, I get it," says Idalia. "I like it. But you don't."

"Fuck off," says Thea, a ragged laugh in her voice.

"You think I don't notice?" Idalia presses. "Whenever we're on land, whenever there's a bard, you'll always stop to listen for the love songs."

Thea stiffens. She laughs again. "Gods," she says, "is that it? That's your fucking ironclad proof that I want to settle down, get married, have a garden, raise some kids? Fucking waste of time, that."

"Not for some people," says Idalia lightly.

"For me it is. I've been on the road since I was twenty; I'm nearing one hundred and twenty now. I'd be a shit wife." Thea's smile is grim and taut, lips twisted. "I give those sweet land-locked girls the best of me for a night, and I leave. It's the highest fucking form of chivalry."

Idalia says, "They could write actual godsdamned bardic poems on all the things that are wrong with you, you know."

"Which is why I am not getting fucking married," says Thea. She slams the trunk shut.

seeing her being so cruel with people's deep seated traumas is really upsetting me. especially considering how she guards her own trauma. feeling guilty afterwards is no justification, she knows exactly what she's doing.

these two need their own show. oh wait, they already have it.

but agatha saying "we don't need her" and then pushing people around in the mall - she is upset about what she just did to alice. and she's almost relieved she said no, that she gets to spare her. sweet, sad alice, so spiky on the outside, soft as a marshmallow on the inside. she did not deserve any of this. her death is entirely on agatha.

sighing and looking wistfully out of the window, she's in pain but determined to go on

meanwhile detective agnes is working hard to figure billy out, you can practically see the gears turning inside her head. I think at this point she already kind of knew, tbh. "I have a theory, but I need more."

I love the Fall in Love portion of The Ritual so so so much.

Like the scenery is amazing. The outside chapel that is done up as a mix of a funeral and a wedding. Like seriously the open black casket that Aphrodite is waiting to get into vs the opposing imagery of white along the pews and the white flower archway to life. Speaking of which if you convince her to live I love love how Aphrodite starts running towards life, especially after hearing how everyone is going to be there for her.

Who's going to help me overcome the war? Everybody! Who's going to be there when I'm on the floor? Everybody! Who's going to cry when I walk out the door? Everybody! Cause I'm not going to do this anymore!

But I aso love how the lyrics relate between the two different versions of Fall in Love.

Like in what is probably the most common path Eros has a lyric that goes knows a goddess is inside of you which is already good but I find it so interesting that in the alternate lyrics that Aphrodite has a lyric that goes It's not my blood inside these veins, only human remains.

Which, OH! Is so good. As much as she fears humans now she and the other Idols need them to continue living, but it's not her. She's constantly changing and she can't fully be happy. It even connects back to some of her possible lyrics in the beginning half of The Ritual where she acknowledges Grace and says that what she's inherited is more of a curse. It's so good to hear Eros reassure her that she's Aphrodite, she's a goddess and no one sees her differently.

Honestly the alternate lyrics have a few lines for Aphrodite that feel similar to Eros' in the main lyrics (I know that they're not the main lyrics I just feel like they're probably the ones seen the most), including:

Knows my pain is insurmountable Can see the agony you're going through

Wants to hold themselves accountable Keeps repeating what they're meant to do

Have you something more suggestible? I've got to stop it just to prove to you

Other things I love about the Fall in Love part of the Ritual cause it's a tough love approach that clearly being handle in a better manner than the option where Grace aggressively confronts Aphrodite at the party in a way that prompts Eros to come to his mother's defense and call Grace out. (I never found that option and I could never omg). It's also one of the 2 second options where Grace can bring up Hephaestus to Aphrodite and how her action of constantly passing on her eidolon sort of spits in the face of his sacrifice.

This is also the version of The Ritual where Apollo is very much supporting Aphrodite's choice. I mean he always did but his solo here has him showing no sense of really trying to stop her in the same wat that Eros and Grace does.

Also I like that in Apollo's and Grace's solo that they acknowledge (a little bit) Venus and how she'll now have to be in the care of others and slowly disappear when Aphrodite reawakens.

Fall in Love is also Aphrodite at her most confrontational. You wouldn't imagine after her initial meeting would you. In Lost in a Moment she doesn't say much as Grace while meeting her on similar level of emotion and in The Only Way To Go Aphrodite is in full snark and condescending. IDK I love the power she puts into holding up her decision in Fall in Love part even if I choose to have her try again.

ok, it's star trek update time. tonight we watched ds9's "playing god" and tng's "eye of the beholder."

i'm trying. SO SO SO HARD to get into dax and it's just not working

out of the 3 dax episodes we've had so far this one included two of them have been mid and one of them was just slightly better than average mostly for the questions it prompted in my mind palace, not necessarily the questions asked by the episode itself

in s1 dax had basically no personality, but in s2 when she does have a personality it seems to be a different one every time. like in one episode she was very prissy and in others she's just one of the guys! and then at other times she reverts to this very buttoned up bordering on bland science officer from s1 again

and then every once in awhile she'll be like oh yeah i LOVE sex i LOVE being a super hot woman who everyone wants to FUCK!!! i can get whatever i want with my SEX APPEAL even though my hair is WEIRDLY SHAPED. and look i am so happy for her and she should literally get some but it borders on the kind of misogyny that starts genuinely annoying me. it is kind of like that anime trope where the teen boy gets put into a body with tits and he can't stop messing with them. its like. idk reducing her to a body, or reducing her to jadzia's body, which dax is taking for a ride to feel hot and fuckable?? it's very blurry what's jadzia and what's dax

WHICH is the most fascinating part of dax, which is where the trill ends and the symbiant or however you spell it begins, but we don't get into that quite as much as i'd like

anyway i guess a shifting personality is a natural result of living 7 lifetimes but it doesnt FEEL like thats why theyre doing it, it FEELS like they just cant seem to keep her consistent

that said. while i did not like this episode or this little guy dax was showing around i DID like the implication that curzon was actually a huge fucking asshole. i love that he can be loved by many people but was still an asshole. it's complex. and now one of the people he abused (?) or at least was an asshole to is now. his successor. IT'S COMPLEX!!! what are he and jadzia to each other...imagine meeting curzon dax and then just becoming him. that's wild. so, points for that! genuinely. it just feels like the trill thing is fascinating because of trills and not because of jadzia dax in particular. i'm gonna keep trying to like her. maybe once she starts banging worf things will be different

and then they dropped the very special episode plot halfway through for this psychic mystery...

here's the thing. if everyone had been searching for a REASON someone who seemed to be perfectly happy would do this, and in the end the answer was just "nothing was going on, he was just hiding a lot of pain, even if we don't want to believe that" that would have been a STELLAR gutpunch. but there literally was foul play involved

In a few situations, he's super smug that she's doing so well because he knows she doesn't even realize or acknowledge how strong she actually is. So when she's just destroying something, he's all cocky and proud of her. It reminds him how much he loves her because she can take care of herself. One of the things he's always appreciated about her is that she doesn't let her insecurities or pride get her into situations that are too much for her to take. She's not arrogant. She doesn't show off. She's just there to get the job done. But that's what makes it so sexy to him.

So when he sees Rinko fighting, he's literally just like, 'That's my girl. So sexy and strong. I love her so much. Ass looks incredible, too. And she needs to hurry because as soon as she wraps this up, she's mine. Wonder how pissed she'll be if I just take her here-' because he's a horny boi who always wants to be inside her 😂😂

Advice for how to start with your fic?

Don't try to start from the beginning. Start somewhere in the middle, and work from there. The ending doesn't have to be established right away, either. That can develop as you figure out the story! But as for how and where to start, anywhere. Have a random bit of dialogue? Start with that. It doesn't have to stay in the end, but having something there will really help you. Write nonsense. Write ideas. Concepts. Anything to get those juices flowing. Because nothing is more daunting than a blank page.

Two things I saw recently made me realize that I already did these things most of the time:

Writing choppy, maybe cheesy or dumb dialogue. You can fill in the rest later, or not at all. You can change it up or edit it, but cutting and editing, or even re-writing, is easier than getting yourself to write the initial draft.

"You look like shit." "Sure know how to charm a girl, huh?" "You'd be more pissed if I lied to you." "True." "Still look awful, though." "Fuck off."

You don't have to put markers or indicators because it's a first draft. First draft and final draft are rarely going to match, and that's okay. Preferred most of the time, actually. But yeah, just toss that dialogue down to help you get started and then go from there!

Start with notes or random shit about what you want to happen. Some people put it in brackets to describe the setting, scene, or character's actions so that they can continue writing without being bogged down by the pressure to figure out the rest perfectly.

I'll provide an example or two from a WIP of the lockout key idea dump I posted a while ago. (I make no promises that I'll ever finish or post this, but it's the best example I could find that doesn't spoil a bunch of stuff for the other stories)

[he comes to ask for a key even though he's already maxed out his number of lockout keys. he ends up trying to lean in closer and she shoves a cookie in his mouth instead] - this one is a general idea and one thing I definitely want to happen in that scene/snippet

[fire drill in the middle of the night forcing everyone outside until the alarm stops going off. he forgets his key because he had to rush out while he was half-asleep.] - this one is describing the primary setting for the scene/snippet: they're outside, he's very sleepy, and he forgot his key.

All in all, don't be afraid of being random and choppy for your first draft!

since this anon kinda gets into some bridgerton spoilers, i'm gonna put it behind a keep reading so in case you haven't seen it yet, nothing is spoiled for yall :)

i'm gonna make a whole post on my feelings for part one bc omg i have so many, but i'll go into some detail about how i feel now.

BOOK SPOILERS ARE IN HERE (so if you don't want to know anything at all about this season/book, turn back now)

i was interested to see how things played out with eloise and pen strictly bc in the books, since LW has been doing it for so long, eloise isn't all that upset at finding out about pen being her.

but in the show, i was curious to see how they would make el and cressida work. and i think it sort of works. but my whole thing is, i can't stand c. like i get why she acts the way she does, but compare her to pen who is basically in the same situation.

pen also comes from a family that is mean to her and doesn't treat her well. she is also in competition with the ladies of the ton (and not only them but her own sisters at one point) to find a man, and yet she isn't mean. she doesn't pick on others to make herself feel bigger. her and c are basically one in the same, but the difference is that pen is internal with her negativity while c boasts herself as something more while simultaneously not feeling like she measures up.

this obviously brings into the question LW, but i think in a way pen isn't really saying anything the ton isn't already thinking. she's just making it widely known. in a way, she's the gossiper for all ppl - the rich and poor. so while yes, she can be mean in the LW columns, she's really only saying what everyone was saying to her and around her. and even then, she's also bringing herself down by reporting on herself and her family, which puts her in even more negative withstanding.

i kinda wish they would have kept c mean just for the sake of being mean, not have the audience try and pity her in a way. i think it would have been more entertaining if she was just rude bc she was never taught to be nice, rather than it being a desperate ploy to get a man before everyone else while being deeply insecure. idk. in my own personal experience, while you have bullies that are bullied themselves, which is why they act the way they do, some ppl are just destined to be dicks lol

and pen will definitely reveal herself as LW to colin, and probably her family and the bridgerton family. but i don't see it being shared with the rest of the ton only bc that kinda defeats the purpose of the show. in the books, there is the whole carriage scene, but then she continues being LW even tho colin thought they both agreed to her stopping it then and there. but regardless of that (since that won't work in the show), i think she'll reveal it right before they get married, and some form of drama will occur.

also.. and don't take my word for this since it hasn't been confirmed or anything, but i heard there's gonna be another carriage scene so……… maybe we'll get that from the books after all lol

(plus the mirror scene... plus an apparent montage of them fucking so............... i'm sat and ready)

as for what's gonna happen in part two, i have seen some spoilers so i won't say them since i highly doubt you want to be spoiled, but from the little preview they did show (plus some bts i've seen that has been going around twitter from some news network that went on the set to film them do part 2) i think like the books c is gonna confess to being LW and that's what makes pen pass out. and then she's gonna try to counter c with her own LW column calling her out, and then she'll get caught by colin. i think a variation of that is gonna play out.

i'm just hoping that by the end her and eloise are friends again. bc their scenes in this first half… i literally cried twice. especially at the "would you like to come up" part. it just hits a bit close to home in a way for me.

i just can't wait for what's gonna happen. like i need this second half NOW.

If it makes you feel better, I like to believe it was actually a mutual decision and that it wasnt necessarily Maria's. It doesnt make it better but all things considered, he begged her in the note he left to keep Ellie safe and not let her follow him. I can only Imagine how much he talked to her about it in person before leaving and because she let Ellie and Dina go(encouraged them to), Jesse died. He had two hurt kids, himself, no horses, and Jesse's body that he had to drag back to Jackson (someone said it was a few weeks on horseback & they were definitely on foot at this point) It's a messy situation but I truly do believe that it WAS a mutual decision in the game for them to break up. It was Mutual or it was Tommy in my mind.

I can't handle either Tommy or Ellie being broken and alone when all they have is the other so I'm desperately hoping that gets changed somewhere so at least maybe at the end they come back together. The way they end things badly makes me upset more than anything and I understand why Tommy was frustrated but I hope he and Ellie will be okay in the show

I also think since Maria is having a kid that they wont do JJ. I think they'll trade JJ for TJ because I can't see them having two babies. Idk why it just seems unreasonable to me. Ever since that episode I've been like "oh well rip Jesse Joel its Tommy jr now" I dont know how that will work for Ellie and Dina in a time jump but I hope Tommy and Maria can at least figure out their issues for this.

ALSO tv Maria is worse(tm) when it comes to rules than game Maria. Ellie shouldn't get permission from her it would feel wrong. (Preferably she'll leave with Tommy but he wouldnt let her do that) so Ellie leaves without permission and Tommy and Maria can't argue about her letting Ellie, Dina, and Jesse get into trouble.

Again though, having a baby may change her attitude. She might be like "bring the dumbass home so my kid isnt fatherless" in front of Ellie, the once again orphan.

The writers have themselves a sticky situation I'm not even on surface thoughts ive spent so much time thinking about how season 2 Tommy is going to be and how the whole situation with Abby will play out

how'd you rank buck's love interests sans tommy

Like how much I liked them as characters or as a couple? Or how much I enjoyed watching the story? Not really a rank but sure I'll tell my thoughts.

Abby - This relationship on paper was sooo interesting to me at the beginning, not because they were gonna make the greatest romance story of all time but I loved what they were building with the dynamic with the age gap and where they were individually in life. But as I was watching it develop, I thought it was a bit boring. Like they were so many things they could explore with it but didn't. I didn't really care about Abby that much but she was fine, also she was a main character who had her own issues and personality and all that which worked better imo. I think I enjoy their relationship more with the context of season 2. Buck still pining for her and waiting for months is the saddest thing and her return and them finally having some conclusion... like I cry each time lol. He really loved her so much, it makes me a bit sick when I think about it.

Taylor - Okay, her first appearance I out loud said "omg she's so unlikable" but their S2 fuckbuddies dynamic was soooo hot. S4 friends-who-don't-wanna-fuck-at-all dynamic was better, I was very entertained while watching that. As a couple they were a bit boring and lost the chemistry, mainly because I think they were set up to fail. The episodes where they tried to build some sort of backstory for Taylor feels so up in the air. They had potential imo but the production didn't commit to it. Also Buck cheating on her was bad but him not being able to deal with the guilt and telling her AFTER he basically trapped her in his place was the worst thing he's ever done in this show, like worse than the lawsuit imo. It makes sense in the context of his characterization and backstory obv but Taylor was too nice about it. Taylor's expose was mean as well but like not in a "this is fun to watch" way as their earlier dynamic, they just never were set up for success. Glad Buck learned to end a relationship when it's not working tho.

Lucy - I don't know if we're counting her but I was big on Lucy when she was introduced. I didn't even mind the cheating that much tbh (except for how it all went for BuckTaylor like i said). Like I can see an alternate reality where the show acknowledges that initial attraction with that ill-advised kissing scene, then like a season down the road after Taylor is gone and Buck and Lucy has built a working/friends relationship the romantic possibility is brought back. Again I don't know if this was something to do with the actress because S5 ends with that scene of the 118 including Lucy and Ravi so you'd think she'll have a permanent recurring role next season, then it's entirely dropped and her character goes through all these changes (she's presented as less experienced than Buck at one point? then she's transfering to become a captain?) Idk but I love Lucy, not as Buck's love interest at this point but I think she has so much potential as a character.

Ali - The only reason she's higher than Natalia is because I liked her energy in the earthquake episodes and genuinely thought they were gonna go somewhere at the end of Buck Actually. Like I had no idea she was gonna break up with him on her next appearance? Lol I dunno, was it like an actor availability thing again because they don't even have a proper break up. Also honestly thinking back, I think I liked her chemistry with Eddie more, she should have called him instead.

Natalia - Eh I don't have anything to say about this, it started too late and on weak legs (and with a very forced couch metaphor that pushed the writers into a corner) and ended too prematurely. Feel a bit bad about how it became recontextualized as a nothing of a relationship after S6 making Buck say all that about her. At the end of the day, they were two pretty people kissing on my screen tho which I always like.

well ofc it's heavily implied at the end that Danger Force continue crime fighting, taking over as the primary heroes of Swellview.

and they should still have at least another year of high school left! i'm not sure if they were finishing middle school when DF started or starting high school when DF started... but either way they should have at least a year left. if they were in their last year of middle school, they'd still have two years of high school. if they were starting high school, they'd have one year left.

it's kinda hard for me to think about what their lives might look like now though. i mean, they no longer have Ray or Schwoz. there's a new level of responsibility on them.

honestly i feel like Chapa probably struggles handling it all, prioritizes Danger Force, and ends up not doing well in school. i don't think it's a Henry situation or anything though. she'll graduate, Mika will make sure of that.

you mentioned Bose, so thinking about her friendship with Bose... hm. in season 3, Bose starts talking about his birth dad a lot more. he also seems a less like the cheery boy we met in season 5 of Henry Danger, yknow? he seems a bit more down. i feel like those two correlate: the uptick in his mentions of his birth dad and his less cheery demeanor. it seems like he started thinking about his family life a lot more than he used to and that's affecting him. i could definitely see Chapa being someone he talks to about all of that. i feel like she would listen to him well and be able make sense of things he says. she's kind of a shoulder to lean on, someone who helps him to not bottle it up in his own mind. gotta love their friendship. (he does what she does lol)

post danger force retirement:

we saw what happened when she wasn't being pushed to the good side. she went to the bad side. between seasons 2 and 3, she became a criminal.

that honestly surprises me. bc idk how some of the other DF kids let that slide. i know everyone is scared of her, but when it comes to something serious, they will confront her and stand their ground. and i feel like Chapa turning to a life of crime is something they'd be trying to keep her from??

so i think that's where she naturally goes to after DF calls it quits, but i don't think her friends would just sit by and let it happen this time. they would at least try to keep her from it. try to keep her occupied, try full-on confrontation, whatever method.

she definitely kept any gum balls she had left in her container lol. she even tried to keep them when Ray made them all turn in their gum in Power Problems, so no doubt in my mind that she brought home all the red gum she had this time. she probably tries to save it, but she might pop a bubble every once in a while. for the memories, yknow?

i can't think of much Bose-centric to add, really. they're still friends. they're still Chapa and Bose. they miss seeing each other as often as they used to. but of course that applies to Mika and Miles with Chapa and Bose just as much and vice versa. at this point, they're all out of school and not meeting up at the Man's Nest every day anymore. life takes over and they just can't see each other as often. i definitely think there would be some planned DF meetup days where they all plan a time to hang out for a while, but i could also see Chapa and Bose spending time together on their own. it's great to be with all your friends, but sometimes there's one friend you end up spending a little extra time with cause you just have that extra-time kind of connection, and i think they definitely have that kind of friendship.

also, i feel like DF had some almost-breakup moments before they actually ended it. times when tension got too high and people said things they shouldn't have and conflict got too much and whatever evil they were battling was too much stress on them and suddenly they're on the verge of ending DF. it never actually happened though. not entirely, at least. maybe they got really close and maybe even they all separated for a day, but it never lasted.

i was thinking regardless of whether ava has multiple lives or not she still heals like a normal human, and yesss i love the concept of ava getting hurt and lilith taking care of her and beatrice being around and that's how beatrice and lilith start getting along and their relationship developing sm

lilith sees how frightened for ava beatrice is and is reminded of the first time ava "died"/got fatally wounded and how lilith was just alone with the trauma and fright of it all, and for all that she dislikes/disliked beatrice, she doesn't want beatrice to go it alone and having another set of hands to help would objectively make things go smoother

maybe this is also when lilith sometimes feeding from beatrice becomes a thing, because lilith gets so caught up and focused on ava that she forgets about properly feeding herself and it's only when she's shaking and lowkey weak with hunger that she notices, and beatrice offers to let lilith feed a bit from her, and i don't think lilith accepts, because they're not there yet

but the offer sticks with her, and as a show of trust she lets beatrice stay alone to take care of ava while lilith hunts and feeds

oh, just had a thought ava’s current “death” could be very easily be directly or indirectly bc of julian, her fucking around and sciencing ava up in a /neg way to try and find how ava’s immortal and just heals from anything and everything, because she wants to see if she can help michael somehow with what she learns from ava

also lilith & ava and/or all three of the girls have bad hayfever and they were so relieved when stuff to help w hayfever came out

also idk how old you’re thinking beatrice is, but i’m thinking she’s like gen z and at max she hasn’t been around any longer than the 1800s or 1900s in large part because i think ava & lilith seeing beatrice with her knowledge and interest of history and all her granny tendencies and being like wow, we can relate and understand this (relatively) current era person lots but then beatrice turning around and dryly refererncing some meme (mostly old memes like vines & the ermhagherd girl, etc) or showing them some meme and ava & lilith like:

it’s lowkey a bit odd for beatrice because usually she’s the one having that reaction and her friends are having to explain meme stuff to her, but it’s nice having the shoe be on the other foot for once

The vibe I get is that Beatrice is only in her early twenties, and she just got turned into a werewolf 2-3 years ago max. I'll sneak in more of my love for werewolf lore in the Mercy Thompson series. Becoming a werewolf sucks a lot. More than just a bite, you have to be mauled literally within an inch of your life to Change, so in addition to free trauma (Bea baby I'm sorry), it could be a way to relate to ava and lil, as their experiences were probably just as traumatic if they still remember them. Werewolves also typically live in packs, for their own sanity and protection, so that could be how the rest if the girlies get involved. I'm a sucker for big sister Shannon showing Bea the ropes, regardless of situation.

Or maybe instead the pack isn't the OCS and it just sucks, and Bea is running from them. Ava figures it out almost immediately ("all runaways look the same, Bea. Trust me, I would know.") and lovingly bullies Lilith into helping too. And yes, Bea mentions memes or other pop culture references that absolutely floor the other two. Lmao maybe she'll mention an old classic movie like Casablanca or something and they'll ask "what's that about?" and she's like "what do you mean what's that about? You were there when it came out!" "We were busy that weekend."

Bea showing one or both of them how to use a smartphone. Them being like my grandma, i.e. constantly leaving it places and forgetting to answer texts until midnight.

And yes, Jillian being a more morally gray character is an idea straight out of my old werewolf!au, so I'm down with it. Searching for literally any option to save Michael, including supernatural ones. Bonus points if she begs Bea to Change him, because yes, it sucks but at least he would live and be strong and healthy.

Gotham Central 1-24 and the stories in between, splitting it where The Question 2005 starts. I feel so incredibly normal about this era. Definitely not putting off my school readings for this. (In my defense Plato is a long-winded bitch.)

In the Line of Duty (GC #1-2)

This is a really strong start. Gotham Central works because it makes dealing with supervillains feel meaningful to the average person in Gotham - sure, Batman shows up and gets them eventually, but that doesn't mean everything just goes back to normal.

Freeze is barely in this and he's unsettling as hell. The cold gun is creepy!

Dead Reckoning (Ted #777-782)

Immediately derailed by a Tec story. It's a good one, at least.

I like that Gordon became a teacher, even if he's not qualified at all.

Why does Arkham have an isolation cage.

I'm with Two-Face here, if he can drive an Arkham employee to a nervous breakdown it's probably better that he do it instead of Scarecrow or whoever.

Harvey ignoring his coin for Gordon's sake... they are friends...

As a guy who loves the imposter Two-Faces and the pile of miscellanous Clayfaces I love this story.

All the side villains are very fun here. Scrungly gossip Riddler, wacky self-sabotaging Joker, no-nonsense Penguin, mad scientist Scarecrow... I like these guys a lot.

Mostly Reneeless. A good episode of a cop show. Idk what to say about it.

The Queen is Dead (Gotham Knights #38-39)

Helena's been kidnapped by Checkmate, and Vic shows up to tell Nightwing about it and beat up a goon. I miss them.

Half a Life (GC #6-10)

Screaming, crying, throwing up, etc.

Renee's talk with Maggie about their different experiences being out is a really good moment.

God I don't have coherent thoughts about this it just kills me.

I'm not generally a fan of the Joker but this is a pretty good story. it's an elaborate scheme to mess with Batman that hurts a lot of people along the way.

Maggie should've killed him. I am not on the "Batman should just kill the Joker" train but she shot him like five times and at that point him surviving is just overkill.

Life is Full of Disappointments (GC #16-18)

No Renee but Helena's here! Just for a moment to ask Mafia questions.

Unresolved (GC #19-22)

There's a Previously On segment now, this really is Law and Order: Gotham.

I don't have it in me to feel bad for Bullock. He's been an awful bastard this entire time and trying to pretend he was a "good cop" just makes me like him less.

Crispus bringing his wife and kids to Renee and Daria's for brunch... this is the one real friendship Renee has.

Unfortunately Renee getting a nice thing means her life immediately gets worse.

This guy being named Jim Corrigan is. A choice? I get it when there's last name overlap between characters, or when it's minor characters overlapping, but the Spectre's not niche. Maybe it's intentional foreshadowing of Crispus' time as the Spectre but I seriously doubt that was on the table at this point.

Her and Daria's relationship makes me implode.

I was great to hear some...anger? The oomph in Alear's voice. I was expecting to hear just crying. I don't really know how to word what I'm thinking hear...just that Alear being resistant to Lumera is really sad to listen to (in a good way). Also the final words before she died made me think she'll have her own Sigurd moment.

I assume the pressure's going to be really on Alear from now on...

I mean idk if I'm going to respond to the only not fat white girl that messaged me first bc of her no kinks, Jesus christ my lord and savior, no kids/no desire to have kids or adopt, and of course her no car... being in New York, like I have the money to drive to her and then she wants vanilla sex and she doesn't even want children. I want kids.

I mean if I wanted to drop all my money on a girl I would have pursued Jenny harder. She was gorgeous. She had a car. We shared interests and I mean I stood a chance but I knew she wasn't going to marry me and I would have wasted a lot of gas and time driving to her (she had her own place) and I would have wasted a ton of money I didn't have. She wasn't the type of girl who would pay for a guy and I get it, most girl arent but being on disability I need a girl who isn't closed minded on this. Out of state doesn't work unless she comes to me. And being real, the economy is shit- I need a girl in state less than 40 miles away so I can pull my weight too.... cause everything is expensive.

One of the major reasons me and Katie didn't work was bc I wanted kids and she didnt. It was a big conflict for us. We didn't want the same things.

I mean the state and lack of car is enough. It's too bad she's cute. I'm not interested nor is he, I met him through a friend nonetheless he is nice to look at.

DESPERATE to leave Africa. She thinks I'm stupid in two ways- I'll give her, her green card and YouTube has analytics... I can see how people get to my channel and how long they watch. What they watch. When they watch. My gaming channel is dead as a door knob.. and it's weird, YouTube advertising stopped all of a sudden, it didn't show up on my analytics much but I haven't seen it in a while. Idk why YouTube was advertising me to begin with I thought Maybe it was her. But idk how anyone could pay for someone else's channel to get advertised anyways. So who knows?

YouTube had a questionnaire a while ago and asked basically if you're a minority and I put trans bc I am... and maybe that led them to advertise it? Idk

All I know is my channel is dead. My trans channel isn't popping like it was but it's still popping.

I don't get why my gaming channel doesn't get more love. When I look up let's say- silent hill 1 good plus alternate ending hard mode. I see like 5 minute videos of the actual ending playing. Or fan made videos commenting on it. It's hard to find complete playthroughs and guides. I have all the same tags and somehow all my videos get put into invisible land and I don't get it bc when I look up these tags I don't have competition. Not really. I have some. But not really especially on Playstation. Hdcp is hard to bypass.... and my content is special bc of that. I get full game guides up of the original games... and somehow I am in invisible land. Also my movement on silent hill is disgusting in a good way... it's too bad no one sees it

I could become the next big guy on YouTube if anyone could find my videos- beyond that I advertise my stuff the best I can between, Facebook (I can't spam obv), reddit, tumblr (I made a silent hill one and posted my video with tags) and then true achievements... I do try to put it out there.

All I know is my tags are good. And my content mostly silent hill is special compared to my competition.. like far cry anyone could post.. but not silent hill Playstation.. the games are rare and bypassing hdcp is hard.

I don't get why I get put into invisible land. Yea my camera is big but that's my watermark I got to protect my gameplay.

Most people can't make James move the way I can..I'd never post a silent hill game or any game without my camera at this point. The stuff I post is good and I can't let people steal my content. Even though no one is seeing it.

Beyond that I posted stellar far cry 2 content without my camera and I'm pretty sure someone stole it. Idk for sure all I know is it's possible and my tags are good... with my camera in the corner you can't steal my gameplay... steal my bo4 stuff idc cause you didn't do it and I'm not trying to be a professional cod multiplayer guy but that's all I'll post without my face in it and only cause I got my try hard face on lol
