anyway ten and a half months into my wrist sprain(s) and i’m braced up again…got a cortisone shot the other day so hopefully that finally resolves it but it has been worse again for a couple weeks now inexplicably (to me, i’m sure a reason technically exists) thus my return to the doctor…if it’s not better in six weeks ie at the one year mark they’ll do another MRI and see if i did actually manage to make it worse but good God will it ever end.

i've almost died three times in my life. and if i had a nickel for every time i've almost died in a medicine-related incident, i'd have two nickels. and the second one happened today, just this morning at good ol' 2 am. the nurse at urgent care told me i should have called 911 but i chose not to because i didn't think anaphylaxis was a big deal

i've fallen off a moving rollercoaster. to be fair it was one of those kiddie rides, and i was like. 5? basically i unbuckled my seat belt because i wanted to prove how tough i was, in a "look ma! no hands!" kinda way. i ended up ultimately being fine with only a sprained wrist and a lot of bruises, but i wasn't allowed to ride rollercoasters for a long time after

i had a job over two summers during college at my local zoo. not gonna do it anymore for chronic pain reasons, but whatever. anyway, there were two male wallabies, named sherman and garfunkel, in this particular exhibit. so part of my job description was to stop them from having gay sex because they'd have gay sex all the time in front of visitors and they'd end up fucking so hard they'd end up hurting each other

Anyways I broke two bones in my arm doing gymnastics when I was 8 or 9. And there was a nurse who’d taken her kid to the gymnastics place who checked it out real quick because I was bawling my eyes out and said “seems fine, it’s probably just sprained” notice the implication of at minimum a mild sprain and at maximum broken bones. But my mother apparently only heard the “seems fine” part I guess, and kept telling me I’d misheard? So we get pizza and go home and start eating and the entire time I can feel my bones kinda grinding against each other I guess? In a way that they should NOT be doing and the only way I can move my wrist to all is by just kinda flopping it one way or another in a way that was honestly a tiny bit nauseating to look at. So I keep telling my mom that something is wrong and I need to see a doctor, and she keeps telling me I’m fine and we’ll call my pediatrician about it if it still hurts tomorrow. And at this point my dad, who is a doctor, comes home and is like yeah no I think her wrist is broken we are taking her to the hospital. And my mom says, and I quote “the woman said it was fine, can’t she at least finish her pizza?” while I have a BROKEN ARM and have spent the last hour and a half trying unsuccessfully to stop crying, and my dad had to convince her to drive me to the ER where lo and behold, something is wrong! And I’ve always remembered that I broke my wrist in third grade but I completely blocked out the fact that my mom just basically tried to convince me that I was fine while I was telling her that something was very wrong with my arm? So yeah anyways that’s fucked up I’m gonna go back to reading fanfiction now ;-;

The last thing I remember was driving down the highway in my car,

“She said I’d die for you, you’re like my drug but I can’t get high off you!” I sang along to the sound of my boyfriend’s voice as I made my way to meet up with him. He had just finished tour, meaning I hadn’t seen him in months so I was very excited as you can imagine. I put on my sunglasses, rolled the window down further and turned up the music, causing it to be the only thing I could hear.

“Body against mine, makeup on my shirt. Lipstick on my neck, whiskey on my breath,” I continued singing along, I shut my eyes for a split second before the loud honk of a horn made me open my eyes. I looked to see a car coming my direction, straight in front of me. Before I could react our cars had collided and everything went black.

Now I wake up in the hospital with wires attached to me and tubes with needles attached in places I never wanted them to be. I open my eyes slowly to see an empty white room, I look down at my right arm and next to it is a call button so I press it. I’m assuming the doctors should know that I’m awake in case something is seriously wrong with me but I’m awake and breathing so hopefully not. A nurse walks in with a doctor trailing behind her. The nurse walks to my left and begins doing something with the monitor while the doctor stays in front of me.

“Hi, Y/N. How are you feeling?” He asks me.

“I’m not sure, I’m confused and I can’t really feel anything physical but I haven’t tried moving yet so we’ll see how I feel when that happens,” I laugh. He chuckles along with me and introduces himself,

“My name is Dr. Breeland by the way, and I’m going to be looking after you for a few more days while you recover.”

“It’s nice to meet you, may I ask what’s actually wrong with me?”

“Sure,” He pauses and frowns. “Unfortunately, you were in a nasty car accident. Your car collided with another and you suffered a few injuries. Your left wrist is broken, as are three of your ribs. You also hit your head pretty hard which caused some internal bleeding but you went into surgery and all is fine. The only other thing is a sprained ankle.”

“Wow I really did a doozy on myself, didn’t I?” I laugh.

“I like your humour Y/N. As I’m sure your boyfriend does as well, he’s been waiting to see you since the accident.”

“He’s here!?” I exclaim. The doctor chuckles.

“Yes, he’s sitting out the front. He paid for your private room and all of your medical bills, you’ve got a good one.”

“I know I do,” I smile. “I haven’t seen him in months! Is he allowed to see me?”

“Of course but first I need to talk to you about a few things,”

“Okay, what’s up?” The doctor explains the extent of my injuries and the recovery process but all I can focus on is Colson sitting a few meters away from me. I can’t believe this is how he’s going to see me after not seeing me for so long.

“So, you’ll be needing to come back at least once a week when you’re let out for your rehab sessions but that’s about it. Mr. Baker already paid for everything so there’s no need to stress about that.” We discussed things for a few more minutes before the doctor left.

“Hi Y/N, my name is Annie.” The nurse says from beside me.

“Hi Annie,” I smile, excited to see my boyfriend.

“I’ve just got to make sure everything is all good like vitals and stuff,”

“No problem,” I nod.

“So how long have you and Mr. Baker been together?” She asks me while fiddling with the medical equipment.

“Uhh like just over two years,”

“Woah, good on you!” She smiles. “You know, he’s been sitting out in that waiting room for like four days while you’ve been in here and he hasn’t been allowed inside. He left to go to the cafeteria and bathroom but only twice a day. And he paid all of your medical bills! That’s crazy.”

“I know, he’s so amazing. I’m just so excited to see him! He was on tour for like 6 months.”

“Damn. Alright, I have a few more tests to run but I can see how eager you are to see him so I’ll give you two some time then come back in and finish off.”

“Thank you so much Annie!” I smile at her and she smiles back. I watch her leave and while waiting for Colson I pick up a hand mirror off the bedside table next to me. I look at myself and see that my hair is a mess, I have a split lip and a cut under my right eye. I grabbed a hair tie from my wrist and put my hair in a bun before putting the mirror down. I notice the door open and watch my man walk through, his hair is a mess much like mine. I mean it still looks good but I can tell he hasn’t styled it and has been running his hand through it a lot. Dark bags under his eyes accompany the disheveled hair which hurts me, this is all my fault.

“Oh my god Y/N,” Colson exclaims as he sits on my bed. I move my body over so he can get comfortable and grab his hand. “I missed you so much baby girl,”

“I’m so sorry I put you through all of this Kells,”

“Please don’t say that. It’s not your fault. I’m just glad you’re okay,”

“I’m okay now that you’re here,“

“I love you,”

“I love you too,”

1. What part of a creative project excites you the most? Probably writing out intense emotional scenes--any scene where someone breaks down into tears or, more favorably, explodes in a rage that becomes tears is when I’m at my writing peak.

2. If you could teleport anywhere in the world RIGHT NOW but could only stay for 45 minutes where would it be and why? I think I’d go to Paris. I love Paris a lot, but the whole travel aspect is not great. So if I could just pop over and get some bread or whatever, that’d be super rad.

3. Favorite animal. WHY ARE YOU ASKING HARD QUESTIONS WIT. Let’s say a penguin. Because I would absolutely be a penguin if I could.

7. Coolest injury/scar story you have (if you want to tell it). I dislocated my knee because I got too excited about a boy and I sprained my wrist in show choir.

If you could have any kind of pet with the means to care for it properly, what would it be? A lion. I freaking love lions.

Favorite time of day/night? There’s about five minutes when the sun’s setting, when it’s just dipped below the horizon, where the sky’s still lit but the trees and buildings look like black paper cutouts against it. That’s absolutely my favorite time of day.

Favorite color palette I’m a sucker for neutral, foresty shades. Greens are my fave.

Are you a swimmer or a sand-castle sculptor? I am a “Why did you want to come to the beach so bad, Slushee, you hate the beach and you know you hate the beach but you kept whining about how you wanted to ‘feel the ocean air’ and now you’re here and you hate it but you can’t go home yet because the drive would have been a waste so I guess we’re going to sit here and sulk for an hour”-er.

If you ever got to meet your hero(ine) what would you talk about? I’m terrible when I meet people I look up to, so I’d probably just stammer into silence and slam my head into a camera. That’s what I did when I met Lee Unkrich.

If you had enough money for the house if your dreams, where would you live and why? I’d live in a fancy loft in a hipster-y city. I’d love to check out Boston, but I don’t know if I’d want to live there. Paris is another good option, except that I’d have to speak French all the time. 

It’s raining like crazy outside. How does that affect your mood? TIME TO OPEN ALL THE WINDOWS AND LISTEN TO IRL RAINYMOOD.

Would you rather go on an adventure by yourself and make new friends on the way, or depart on an adventure with the friends you now have? I went on an adventure by myself, and it was a wonderful experience. I think I’d like to go on one of those again, but for now I’m very happy just staying home.

2. when did you first see your bias? *list all three* honestly i first saw him in the monster music video but that was like...my first time seeing EXO as a whole, and that video overall is dark and difficult to process and faces arent really clear except for like...xiumin when he’s upside down and lay when hes in a hall of dead bodies, so really i first saw chanyeol in lotto when he was driving a rolls royce with a broken nose and i decided then and there he could have my ass however he wanted it and if be like ‘this is fine.’
