I was going back through WAD particularly to look at the background for a moment. And it just now hit me some of the symbolism that was going on.

Because here’s the thing

The entire battle with Belos takes place at nighttime. Appropriate since this arguably one of the darkest moments of his reign/era.

Heck we don’t see daytime at all for a chunk of the episode. Since it’s nighttime/sunset when the group goes to the Skull.

Still mostly nighttime right up until his defeat

And then the minute we see him defeated and turning into dust finally:

It’s no longer nighttime it’s dawn.

And it stays dawn throughout the next scenes

It’s only after Belos is fully defeated that we see the sun come out and rising

Basically the crew used the literal sun to play into imagery of a new era for the Isles beginning. By having the literal dawn of a new day happen as Belos’ era was drawing to a close.

I was so disappointed that no one from the fire fam was commenting on/joking about Eddie’s moustache in the premiere episode of season 8, but I was just rewatching one of the clips (when they’re talking up on the roof about getting Gerrard fired) and I finally paid more attention when Chimney said this after Hen told told Buck they did get Gerrard fired but he came back:

“Like Michael Myers with a push-broom moustache. [looks over to Eddie] No offense, Magnum.”

and I finally realized that THIS is what he meant:
