Idk what it is that makes me fixate so hard on one specific thing for years at a time, but I need it to chill out 😭 DnDads has been my only long-term media interest for like 1 and 1/2 years now, and it’s BORING to only like one thing ever lol I’m BORED!!! I need other things to be interested in, but I struggle with getting into new stuff (other than video games) sooo bad :(

That said, if you have DnD podcast recs that have interesting characters……… GIMME 👀 Also where the early episodes aren’t a nightmare to listen to 🙏 I have never listened to any other DnD podcasts, and I think it’s mostly bc the earlier seasons are always poor audio quality or like 3 hours long 😭 I’m also good with any type of narrative podcast. I just want compelling characters and platonic/familial dynamics pls. Stuff I can write sad shit about!! But also not TOO sad the whole time… maybe a little bit silly idk

i was Just rewatching the first episode of bbc sherlock with my mum before seeing the new letters from watson email had been sent and even though it's just the first chapter it's already making me sad to see how much they changed just his Introduction

like he's so endearing !! and so clearly passionate about crime solving in a way his introduction in a study in pink just doesn't get across as well imo

if they were even aiming for that at all, which.... im doubtful ? i think bbc sherlock was a lot more concerned with making him seem cool maybe, and Definitely with getting across that he's Fucked Up or whatever and his giddy excitement here doesn't really work well with that intent. there's the scene later on in 221b baker street where they got a bit closer to showing his passion but in that scene the thing he's excited about is another murder happening which. changes it a lot i think.

he's finally shown to be passionate about his work in some way, sure, but i think it was done to, again, lean into the "ooo isn't this guy A Bit Strange" thing by having him get excited about a stranger's death. i wouldn't consider it a scene showing his love for his work, i think it's more about his hatred for being bored, because a study in pink leans more towards his passion for his work being a bad thing with how it makes his reasoning a lot more .... pessimistic maybe ?

like pink has characters talk about how he gets off on crimes in a jaded way when it's not just about it being something that stops him being bored while scarlet compares him to a child with a new toy to describe how passionately he feels and i feel like i'm using the word passionate a lot but it's the only word i think describes what it is i love about the sherlock short stories i've read so far and now the beginning of this novel that bbc sherlock (at least in it's first episode) just. doesn't really have. either that or love, maybe.

idk this is just the first chapter and i don't remember much at all of bbc sherlock after a study in pink so my opinion will probably change at some point but this is how i feel about the adaptation currently.

just went through all my ao3 fics and edited all the tags because i feel like i overtag a lot and it always bothered me. tbf the most overtagging happens in my relationship/character tags but i find it super difficult to judge who/which relationship is important. like friendships are So Important in my fics i dont feel like i cant tag less there? especially my longer fics. amtc james&sirius and black brothers are in my mind at least if not more important than literally amtc jegulus. i know its a jegulus fic but also jegulus is just the catalyst for other relationship dynamics. how do you tag that stuff

I'm not physically disabled, and have only recently heard about the idea of it being a slur from Sailor talking about it, so I can only really parrot a little bit of what he's said and a whole lot of theoretics from my brain where I have no real context 'cus I've never been called a slur, but I think the jist of it I think is that "cripple" is a slur against physically disabled people, so even if you're calling yourself it, if you're not physically disabled it can a bit insensitive?

So I guess it's like if random straight white people who have never dealt with homophobia or racism targeted at themselves, were calling themselves homophobic or racist slurs in casual conversation. Or maybe if people casually used the r slur to describe having little brainfart moments?

Or like when people randomly drop words like psychopath to describe people and characters who are mean and/or violent? Like that level of casualness at least, 'cus people use the word "crippled/crippling" a lot

They're not really in a place to reclaim those slurs or even fully understand the impact of them and decide if they should be reclaimed, because they've never been hurt by the slur. It's just a word to them so ofc they'd have no qualms using it. While meanwhile anyone who has had the slur used against them just hears them dropping slurs that they don't understand and haven't been reclaimed, so they'd just be uncomfortable and/or distrusting of the person's ally-ness

That's kinda the best I can get at, I don't really know a whole ton about slurs, especially not this one. If you have any physically disabled friends to talk to they might have better or more accurate input on wether it's and issue and why and suggestions on what to say instead and so on. Maybe there's some ask disabled people blog or subreddit that could help? Idk

If anyone who actually understands the topic wants to chime in that would probably be helpful, I am realizing this might be worth tryna do some research into if I can figure out how
