it’s october so the desired aesthetic is once again ”disgraced small town ex-detective chainsmoking in their basement/garage (that's been turned into a messy office with the wall of papers, articles & pics connected with red yarn) driven mad trying to crack the (paranormal?) cold case everyone else has already given up on years ago”

I am cringe, but I am free.
Here's to a better new year, hopefully. The prospects are pretty bleak, but we stay silly.

obviously in homura matoba does natori a huge favor (though it also comes with perks for himself) but there's another way to look at it. if in miharu natori was offering to help matoba bear his burdens, it doesn't seem that matoba took him up on that. he sat on the bench of i hate my life and dissociated about it, because so much would have to be different for him to accept that offer in the way it was being offered. he would have to be different. but natori coming to him in the homura arc and saying i need you, now we're talking. other than when they first met and matoba said he was looking for people he can use, since he got to know natori what he's been saying is use me use me use me. but all natori has done is reject him, even when it clearly makes natori weaker and less able to meet his goals. as the clan leader matoba has so many people he can (and does) use. and the dynamic that he has with those people is not the one he wants with natori, nor the one natori was offering in miharu. but if natori uses him? that's different. that's a reciprocation of sorts, a bid for connection. that's natori reaching out and saying, i see you, i value you, we can be equals.

The Deca itself amazes me, but its fandom is on a whole other level. We have one canon source material (and a few other mentions scattered throughout the Whoniverse), but the fans have managed to tinker with it so much that fanon is actually more popular than canon and more wildly accepted. And I love y'all for it

It seemed (at least to me and my friend) that Sejanus was aware that the Snows weren't as well off as they were pretending to be. I don't think he was aware of the full extent of it, but it seemed like he knew something. Especially in the scene where he tells Coriolanus that the plinth prize won't be given, the solemn and somber way that he delivers the news to Coriolanus definitely made it seem like he knew Coriolanus depended on that prize money for his future.

hey guys so I just started reading Flatland by Edwin A. Abbott and OMG AHSBNSBSBSNSNBSHZHSHDBFHGGHFHGRJ2KSHSBSNSK AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I LOVE THINKING ABOUT THE RELATIVITY BETWEEN DIMENSIONS!!!!!!
#probably the nerdiest thing i will ever read in my entire life but I AM SO HAPPY#Its the unabridged and corrected 1992 republication btw. if you wanna get specific#the only book in which i have actually decided to read the introductory notes and i do NOT regret it because the editor's one IMMEDIATELY#brought up the “oh but surely the second dimension has thickness how else would flatlanders see anything” AND GAVE A REALLY GOOD ANSWER.#which i cannot tell you here. bc it is several paragraphs long and idk how i would shorten it. i would hit tag limit. if thats a thing.#anyways. I'm only a little bit into the first part which basically explains how Flatland works as a society so i haven't even gotten to the#sphere yet but OH MAN I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO EXCITED ABOUT A ROUND OBJECT IN MY LIFE#IM LOSING IT OVER THIS BOOK AAAA :D#me: im so glad i dont have a math class during my senior year! now i dont have to learn anything math-related!#also me: but what if i started studying a complex and almost entirely theoretical part of geometry#bc YEAH i didn't just buy this book bc of gravity falls. I BOUGHT IT BC IVE BEEN RESEARCHING THE 4TH DIMENSION WOOOOOOO!!!!!#one thing i will say i dont like. introductory note suggests the the 4th dimension might be time. this is ok tho bc its followed up with#also saying that time is not a spatial dimension and exist across the 0 1st 2nd and 3rd dimensions which. that epuld mean we live in 4d#already. so. i was worried for a second but THANK YOU THANK YOU OH MY GOD PEOPLE TRYING TO SAY “OH THE 4TH DIMENSION IS TIME” I HATE THAT SO#MUCH AAAAGGHHHH AT LEAST RECOGNIZE ITS NOT SPATIAL!!! TIME IS NOT A SPATIAL DIMENSION!!!!!!! IF IT WAS THEN 4D TRAVEL AND TIME TRAVEL WPULD#BE FHE SAME THING AND DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY MUCH COOLER POSSIBILITIES WPULD BE THROWN AWAY IF THAT WAS THAT CASE!!!!! AND. AND. IF THE 4TH#DIMENSION IS TIME. THEN WHATS THE 5TH?? 6TH?? YPU CANT KEEP GOINF ON FOREVER LIKE THAT. YPURE JUST MAKEING MORE 3D WORLSS WITH STUFF IN#ADDITION TO TIME. INTERESTING BUT THAY IS NOT ABOHT HIGHRER DIEMSBSJSNSBAKAJSHDHDHHDHDHDJ#sorry for the rant. jsut. agh i want a spatial 4th dimension. i dont think tesseracts exist through time that would just be an aged cube#anyways yeahhh i love the 4th dimension. new hyperfixation or new special interest? ill have to wait and see. anyways i have done it i have#an oc whos 4 dimensional now and she is the coolest ever i love her#but yeah this book is sosososo good i am literally gonna bring it to school to read instead of draw bc i would lose it if i didn't#10/10 would recommend to anyone who wants to Think

might make a conspiracy board to connect all the Kersting Gier books lore because honestly Silber and Vergiss Mein Nicht could be set in the same universe... Because Cassian mentioned weird dream stuff so that could fit into Silber (and maybe wolkenschloss because it's very ambiguous if magic is real? i think it was implied the hotel is haunted but not completely obvious)

Had to go to the dentist the other day. Someone canceled so they asked me to come in an hour early which was fine but then I was seen by a different dentist than usual. New dentist would not stop talking about books, talked about fantasy and murder mystery mostly and how favorite book is game of thrones. I now have a reading assignment from my dentist (not game of thrones).

Finally got ahold of the audiobook of Penance by Eliza Clark and I have mixed emotions about it. On one hand I love the premise and I feel like it's written well enough to where I feel like the author isn't going to clumsily stumble through her own story and fall on her face at the end like the majority of popular thrillers. But also this story suffers from having someone who hasn't been in school for a long time attempting to write teenagers. The funny thing is that whenever I see a horrible portrayal of teenagers, specifically of zoomers its never like, inaccurate portrayals of slang and trends that most teenagers cringe at, it's extremely unnatural dialogue that I don't understand how even a 30 or 40 year old can't see how awkward and cringe and flat out bad of a portrayal they're doing. You can claim that it's regional differences, even if we were all teenagers once I still don't know what it's like to be a popular mean British girl, but I'm fairly certain that actual popular mean British girls don't go around describing themselves as popular mean girls. The funny thing is that they've mentioned several times that these girls (ok it was actually like one girl but she introduced too many characters and I got confused so I can't even remember the name of the girl who said it) are trying to imitate the mean girls in popular American shows/movies. But I think that it's SO funny how instead of going for the obvious Regina George or maybe the more posh Blair Waldorf, they chose Sharpay Evans....I'm very familiar with the popular mean girl trope because I always love the girls who fall into this category and I can say with 100% certainty that none of these girls act like this either. I don't know what the author is going for but it's very painful to listen to.
#the pyre#Technically I'm not reading it I mean I just got myself a copy of the ebook bc I'm so lost which is why I don't know simple things like#the names of the girls I think I'm prob only around 100 or so pages into the book so I was planning on reading that before bed#so I can understand it better#but I'm so heartbroken bc something they're mentioned a few times that def gonna play a large role later#is that the girls all followed this makeshift religion which fit in perfectly with their culty friendgroup#but as of rn I feel the same disappointment I felt when I read bunny and the popular girls doing witchcraft#were so childish and annoying that even I couldn't like them#also I sorta forgot the premise of this book so i looked up the synopsis on GoodReads and the author sounded familiar so#I clicked through her profile and she wrote boy parts and since this book has been following me around I finally decided to get a copy#and read it after I finish penance only for the narrator of the story to briefly talk about some cases he'd researched and among them#he listed a female predator who preyed on little boys and idk the premise of boy parts but I'm p sure that was the author referencing it#and since I like to go into books as blindly as possible I don't appreciate the author spoiling me for a book I haven't even read yet#also I wonder if this is one of those things where an authors books all take place in the same universe even if they don't follow the same#characters that would be cool if true but I hope the narrator of this book doesn't appear in boy parts he's kind of a goober

the other issue i had with the latest twst update is kind of minor and more of a "me" thing than an actual issue LOL but it did make me a bit sad that they clearly established glorious masquerade as taking place outside of the main story's timeline by having silver and sebek not know idia. i always figured that the events and vignettes didn't necessarily all take place in the same timeline, the mere existence of the two fairy gala events makes that obvious enough. but i wanted to imagine that glomas was one that did happen somewhere between books 6 and 7 because i just have so much love for how it develops idia's character. and also because i wanted rollo to show up and help kick malleus's ass lmao. it just kind of shocks me that they hired such a prolific voice actor for rollo (hiroshi kamiya is so popular in japan and has been in so many things), when only a tiny portion of the event has any voice acting, and then gave him a card if they were never planning to use him in the main story. but ah well, i guess after all this time of people speculating about if he'd appear or not, at least now we know that he won't.

Ok ok ok wait. If elves came from spirits who wanted to be physical people, and dwarves came from titans, where did humans come from? I refuse to believe they just "showed up" one day out of nowhere, and I am tired of the fantasy trope of "they came from some mysterious unknown land across the sea that no one remembers anymore" especially since that's the qunari already.
Were they native to thedas? Did they come from the land to the south that's now long since frozen to the point no one can explore it anymore? From west of the anderfels? Were they also invented by the evanuris somehow? Is the maker actually somehow real too and made humans? Is thedas secretly some post-apocalyptic earth and there are humans in other unseen lands? I'm so curious
