Do you agree that Jason, as written by Winnick in UTRH and Lost Days, acts out of character post-resurrection if we take into account his post-crisis robin days? If yes, how would you have him act/react to stuff after he comes back from the dead?

tldr: i definitely agree. moreover, classism plays a huge role in it, and i don’t think that at this point the storyline could lose these implications, which makes trying to conceive what an “in character” (for robin jay) version of these events would be quite difficult.

let’s just start from saying that i don't think it's a secret that i don't really like winick in general. despite his work being mad interesting on a conceptual level (and style-wise, genuinely well written!), he has no love for the characters he writes about.

imo utrh shouldn't even ever make it into the mainstream batman timeline. i am aware that this is a radical opinion, but my take is that it would do best as an elseworld story (and in this version too it would need some tweaks here and there), because it made damage both to the mythos of batman and jason's legacy that can never be undone. the very premise of the story is so deeply disconnected from jay's original place in the narrative, and so classist at its roots, that there's not much room to truly fix it.

(i want to say, preemptively, that i am aware that there are people who read utrh as a story of a revolutionary and a victim – and they have the right to do so, but ngl, my view has always been that it was never written as that. utrh reinforces so many stereotypes that it overshadows the revenge tragedy spirit of it all.)

another disclaimer is that, to be honest, jay doesn't have a very consistent characterization even in his 80s run, and it also has some classist implications that ideally should be either erased or addressed in the text (that winick instead exaggerated and put at the very front of his storytelling.) starlin's writing is, at the end of the day and very much ironically, more sympathetic and gentler in evaluating jay (simply because at the time he would not get away with changes too blatant) but details such as jay saying that "all life is game" and his random nonchalant behaviour that has its origin in the very beginning of starlin’s run are already signs of it. some readers will trace jason's arrogance prevalent in his red hood era to these issues and say that his actions post-res are therefore a logical extension of his robin days, but i don't buy it. even if you want to lean into starlin-esque characterisation, if you consider the core problem of the garzonas plotline – which is power, jay shouldn’t look into the solution of anything in climbing to the top. and if he did, it would have to be written as a “becoming what you feared/hated most” kind of story, which i can see a certain appeal in (and which would at least acknowledge that it was not his initial personality), but which would go back to its classist assumption of cycles of violence and doomed fates.

so – how to make his post-res era more accurate to his post-crisis robin days (and least classist in the process)?

if we were to follow my fav iterations of his characterisation (barr’s detective comics and the ntt appearances) tbh I don’t think a lot would happen, because his personality is quite mild, and just so hopeful there that i wouldn’t expect any extreme actions from him – but then again, the circumstances that he finds himself in post-res, the trauma, and his sensitivity do warrant grief that should become a driving force in his life from now on. the question is, what to do with this grief as a plot device?

i know that plenty of jason fans hate this take but I actually think the concept of jason trying to be detached and cruel but being bad at it might be one of the least offensive to his 80s characterisation. it’s def not accurate to pre-52 canon (apart from countdown perhaps) but imo for jay to be authentic and nuanced he should be conflicted about his own actions. his overconfident behaviour should be a pose – just as his frantic acts in his origin story as robin were. (again, something that many readers don't take notice of – but reading the rest of collins' writing wherein jay quickly settles into being easy-going and even a bit shy is proof of it.)

these two points lead to the “no good deed” narrative that I often talk about - the reading that jason saw his intuitive and self-sacrificial kind tendencies as something that brought him pain and that never was quite efficient, and that post-res he intentionally tried training himself out of. there are some flashes of it here and there throughout the years of the red hood publishing history, but it never got a true spotlight. and if i were to write lost days, jason flinching at his own violence would be a focal point of the story.

moving on to utrh; i have spoken about it at length before but I think if he were written 1. with more political sensitivity 2. to have retained the same maturity re: the social order 3. to have the same idea of morality, he should have followed more of actual revolutionary tracks and the whole “drug lord” authoritarian figure schtick along with the idiotic idea of “controlling crime” would have to be thrown out of the window.

and, later on, forgiveness should play a big role in his story. he's so quick to forgive and justify everyone in his robin run – this is also why i reckon his team up with harvey in tfz was a wasted opportunity.

so, in conclusion – perhaps not that much would have to change re: his actions but definitely a lot should change regarding his emotional journey and his position. i would def throw out a lot of mindless violence and power posturing out of it though. and perhaps make him a bit more polite just for the sake of more consistency (this is not me taking a moral stance btw nor tone policing a fictional character. i just think it would be more faithful to his 80s writing unless you want to make him explicitly scared. and it would be funnier tbh.)

Also another highlight of ER gameplay is how much Patches helped me without intending to (Fantomette don't read if you didn't find him yet)

So like I explored god knows how much and leveled and seen all kinds of caves yet, until I went down in the lake one (haven't killed dragon there yet, I am working on it). So there was that basic bitch boss cave ok? And I waited for like TEN DARN MINUTES for the boss to appear! TEN minutes!! I thought the game lagged so I gave up and decided to dig in the chest, and MOTHERFUCKING-

HE WAS THE BOSS HGKMKKGYHV LITERALLY THE LAST THING IN THE WORLD I EXPECTED!!!! PATCHES WAS A BOSS AAAAA

And so many years later he invented a new trick than just throwing the player off the cliff gfhfjgb And this time it is ACTUALLY player's fault because he didn't ask for help, nor gave advice, nor tossed shiny coins near the cliff, he just... left a chest near a place that looks like a camp, so it was ACTUALLY unfair to open it if you think of it. Damn, they made him have a point instead of being hostile when you didn't even do anything bad ;-; He's grown so much xD unlike his hair

As for how that helped me, I returned in that cave later. He wasn't there (later I learned if you take too long he leaves, so I had to see what he'd say in Youtube), but there was the trap chest. It teleported me in unfamiliar area but I already knew THIS kind of bears was dangerous, so I just snuck away for a bit... Found some sort of chapel, stepped on the round lift there, and it was just. Going down and down and down until it opened such a beautiful sight????

So apparently that took me into a super fun secret map UNDER the main map, it was so entertaining to explore! I could not stop taking the screenshots because there THE SKY AND THE COSMOS ARE THE ONE, and there I found those herbs I needed to craft the anti-madness boluses but had NO idea where to find. Also there were pillars I kept igniting and pillars on the way up the stairs, so when I found them all I got to fight a cool giant reindeer!

Basically the coolest adventure ever that would have missed out on if Patches didn't do his thing bykgjhgfg Because I honestly doubt I'd be able to find that spot on my own.

#tag talk #I've gotten pretty good at talking in such a way as to reassure and assuage peoples doubts.#currently working on selling my electric piano on fb marketplace (I had to make a new account for it cause I deleted my old one years ago)#and there's a lot of automatic suspicion people have that it might be a scam. but there's a lot of details you can add to fight that.#when working out a time to meet. mention you have a job or mention things you'll be doing when you're busy.#people love pictures or videos because we still have that inherent trust that videos and photos can't be faked.#I used that one a lot of grindr. a lot of people would just use the same two or three grainy photos so sending fresh photos occasionally..#-occasionally would stand out against everyone else who puts no effort into their profile.#there's just so many little ways to communicate authenticity but you can't try too hard or you'll come across as scammy.#idk though. maybe my inability to conceive of anyone mistrusting me makes me also just seem trustworthy.#in nursing I could gain paranoid residents trust really easily and could calm down anxious residents by just explaining the process to them.#which honestly is a victory for the autistic urge to just explain everything and then maybe explain it again and again #idk. #Its the trudy ep which is actually the episode that made me keep watching #I love love love this episode.....#Something about how.......... idk.... its a very profound ep that I can't explain and it's a nice cry #This ep kind of shaped my outlook on life especially after finding out about my friend dying #All the regrets and things left unsaid.... I make my peace daily by being really straight up #If I love and care about ppl I tell them... I say they are appreciated and cared for man #I am always thankful for people and I *love* people as a whole #And as long as the people around me intrinsically know that they are loved and cared for and cherished.... like that's it #That's the end game truly #I will never ever be sorry for that. Baby fever | LN4

Lando Norris x fem!reader

Something short and fluffy while I work on a Lando request🫶🏼

summary: Babysitting Landos niece made you both wonder how it would be to have a baby of your own.

warnings: well uh, a baby HAHA and wanting to get preggooo. Think that’s it? Lol idk

Summer break meant calming down, relaxing and spending time with your or Landos family. You were currently on vacation, with Landos family tagging along. Right now everyone is sprawled out in the living room of the cozy house he rented. Lando sitting on the floor with his niece Mila, playing and making stupid faces at her. Not gonna lie, the baby fever is definitely hitting you hard right now, your focus on Lando and baby Mila entirely.

It is torture. The scene playing infront of you is probably the cutest thing you've ever seen and never ever in your life did you want to have a baby of your own so badly.

Mila is laughing hysterically while Lando continues making even more stupid faces at her. At one point, he even starts babbling gibberish and Mila laughs throwing random sounds back at her uncle. He has a tiny toy car in his hands, one Mila seems to like very much. Slowly you approach both and as soon Lando notices you he gives literal puppy eyes, face screaming 'why is she so adorable'.

"How's it going Uncle Lando?" you smile, sitting down next to your boyfriend and his niece.

Lando looks very proud of himself, yet he doesn't really answer. Instead he simply gives you a quick kiss on the cheek, pulling you closer into his side to give you some cuddles.

"...she's adorable" you whisper, absolutely smitten with baby Mila.

"i know." he whispers back, wrapping his arms around you tightly and pressing his cheek to your shoulder. Suddenly, Mila pulls on your shirt, wanting your attention as well.

"Hey little Mila" you say softly, taking her into your arms. As soon as she's with you, her face lights up and she gives you the most adorable grin, with a tiny tooth. Lando just looks at you with a huge grin on his face. You give her small kisses all over her face, muttering against her skin "who's such a cute baby, hm? Who? Youuuuu!"

Mila coos and laughs, enjoying the attention you're giving her. Lando joins in laughing and then starts speaking baby language at her, making the little princess giggle even more.

Little do you know, Landos brother and wife are watching you three from afar. They have a smile on their face, happy their daughter is having such a great time with her uncle and his girlfriend. They can't help but think that you two would be amazing parents.

Suddenly Lando stops, getting a bit more silent. You can feel his gaze on you and for the first time since you joined them his attention is entirely on you instead of the baby. "What?" Your tone is soft yet questioning. Lando blushes. "You.. you wanna..?"

You have a faint idea of what he wanted to say based on his expression. You can't help but smile. "I think so..." you whisper and look back at Mila.

Lando pulls you closer so that you're seated on his lap. He looks at you and then back at Mila. A soft grin appears on his face as he softly strokes your hair out of your face. He puts his other arm around you and when he starts to speak again, his tone is sincere and warm "Let's do it."

Your eyes grow wide, big smile on your face. "Really??"

Lando nods his head. He's about to say something else when Mila suddenly takes the toy out of your hands and waves it infront of you, making you laugh. Your boyfriend quickly takes the opportunity to kiss you. He's so close to you and you take a moment to admire his beautiful face.

You sign, playing with a curl that fell to his forehead. "I really want a mini Lando. Your curls and your eyes and ugh- everything to be honest.

Lando only smiles at your words, kissing your forehead. He tries to pull you even closer but baby Mila is having none of it. At least that's how it seems to you and her uncle, as Mila starts pulling on his legs, demanding his attention once again. You giggle at the sight. "I think your attention is required, Uncle Lan."

'Uncle Lan' sighs and rolls his eyes playfully. He kisses your forehead again before taking Mila back into his arms and continues to play with her and makes her laugh. "...you're gonna be an amazing dad" you whisper lovingly.

Your boyfriend only blushes again, clearly touched by your words. With Mila in one of his arms, he places the other one behind him to lean back a little, simply staring into your eyes for a few seconds before he suddenly tells you how much he loves you. You smile, slowly placing your hand on his cheek, caressing it lovingly. "I love you too. So much."

You guys may still be young, only babysitting for now but both of you are well aware that the other person is the one you want to spend the rest of your lives with. You can't wait for Lando to be the father of your children, marrying him, being a family. He's your home. And you are his.
