I'm actually really surprised you caught that sorta transition from peachick -> peahen -> peacock because I made it so low-key! It would have been more obvious if they had brown in their color scheme, but with his natural hair color and original connection to bard magic, I thought that maybe those maroons would still read the same way, so I'm glad that that still came across

The pre-coven head design was inspired by typical stage magician costumes so yes!! It gives off more obvious ✨performer✨ vibes! Felt very appropriate since so much of real life "magic" is actually just illusions

And of course, at the peak of their career, Juniper's colors and "feathers" stand out much more, but that performer side is stripped away from them. Now, it's more professional. Much more covered up compared to his previous design, which was the most they've opened themself up (at least at this point in time). Juniper quite literally has eyes everywhere, and now he acts as Belos' eyes, so he needs to hide this fact. Can't afford other people knowing how much blood they have on their hands, they've got an image to maintain.

As for the specific butterfly I like to use for Juniper - the eyed/blue pansy (Junonia orithya) !

That of course carried over to their timeskip design. Darker colors to signify their age as you mentioned. Something I don't think I've touched upon yet is the whole eye thing and clothes. From a practical standpoint, covering your eyes with tight fabric is bound to be uncomfortable!! So that's why in his pre-coven and ex-coven head designs, they have looser sleeves for comfort - at these stages in life they are much more free. Those periods where he wore tighter sleeves are times when he was trying to keep a certain image for himself, no matter how uncomfortable it may have been - all the blood, sweat, and tears to earn their name, the shit he puts himself through with Belos, and trying so hard to earn his parent's approval as a kid. It's uncomfortable, but hey, it's worth it, right? Now that the sleeves are completely off, he's finally free. Juniper can finally breathe

All of that said though, there is one exception ! (not shown in that cheap lil timeline)

Haven't updated their hair here so it's still the previous design, just ignore that

Juniper's timeskip outfit for formal events! It is also the only other design where they cover their hands, but for good reason!! All of the Cranes wear their signature fingerless gloves, and since Juniper is an honorary Crane, they get them too 🫶

And though his casual timeskip design is more focused on the butterfly motif, the peacock side of him was not completely dropped! It is more connected to their past self and their theatrical side, hence why it's not really present in his casual outfit. Although they no longer have their blues, he instead dons Pearl's colors as a way to remember her �� And of all the designs, this is the one with the longest "train"! Juniper's changed a lot, but they're finally content with their life and proud of who they are, and have the feathers to show it :)

You know I studied Japanese for like a couple of months over 7(?) years ago so while I can understand it a bit I'm awful at reading and don't have a big vocabulary.

That being said I've been attempting to translate/re-translate some of the extras cause I wanna know whats actually being said. So basically I write it down on google, get a feel for what it's saying from the machine translation/read the romaji and if I don't recognize the words I do a google search to maybe figure out what it means in context (doing my best here).

All of this to say I wanted to re-translate this little interaction between Fleki and Lycion, cause of his expression here.

Which makes even less sense! I wondered if maybe I wrote the kanji/hiragana wrong tried to translate each by itself and it didnt help, googled what "Yatteru" meant and only got "doing it" so I finally googled the whole thing in japanese 大将やってる？

First result looked promising, looks like one of those things explaining expressions/slang? (Very familiar with those)

I copied the part that had the expression I wanted and dropped it on google translate

First off, I can’t imagine that Arthur really celebrated a lot of holidays growing up.

He probably had the typical crafts and class parties at school, which he enjoyed very much, but what would happen at home was kind of a toss up.

If Penny was lucid, and they had the money, I can see her being the type to go all out. Most food bank programs offer special meals or food related to those meals around the holidays. Penny would absolutely take full advantage of that, and do either a turkey or ham dinner with all the fixings.

Arthur remembers these moments fondly, sitting on the couch with a full belly and maybe watching a church service or something on TV while he and his Mom decorate eggs. Having food for days after between the dinner leftovers and the eggs, which for Arthur meant eating like a king at least for awhile.

However, if Penny was having an episode or worse if they were staying with one of her so called “boyfriends?”

Well, in those cases Arthur was lucky if the day passed without ceremony like any other.

Depending on the conditions of their place, Easter could mean he got one less beating on account of the holiday and the closest thing he’d get to dinner was dry crackers and a juice box that he managed to scrounge up from the cupboards, if that.

Arthur doesn’t like thinking about those times too much. It’s just another reminder of all the happiness he missed out on and is desperately trying to bring back into his life.

After meeting and having a relationship with you, he’d probably mention all of this at one point or another when the holidays start coming around.

Even if he’s still living with Penny, or if you have your own place, you’d probably go all out to compensate for his childhood.

You’d probably go as far as to plan an itinerary and a menu, which both confuses and delights Arthur.

Him??? You’re really doing all this for him??? But it’s too much trouble, too much work, at least let him help with the-

First on the agenda? Special Easter breakfast.

Whether you stay over from Saturday or come early Sunday morning, Arthur is woken up by the smell of pancakes and bacon.

As far as I’m concerned, Easter breakfast is almost as important as Christmas. Especially if you come from a Catholic family and were fasting for lent like mine did sometimes.

Arthur isn’t even off of his sofa bed before you’re putting a heaping plate in his lap.

For a moment, he’d be too stunned to speak. You’d really outdone yourself.

First off, there’s a whole pile of bacon, still steaming hot and cooked to a crisp just how he likes.

“You eat every bite of that, or else.”

It’s not a real threat because you give him a gentle poke in the ribs when you say it. Arthur knows you’re doing it because you care and want him to have a decent meal for once.

Next are the pancakes. Oh my god, the pancakes.

These aren’t your garden variety, maple syrup and butter kind of pancakes.

Like yes, you’ve included those things, but also you’ve gone the extra mile and added in fresh fruit and chocolate chips and even tried to make some into fun shapes.

There’s an “A” shaped one, as well as a bunny with a blueberry eyes and a strawberry nose, and best of all, a clown with banana slice and chocolate chip eyes, a raspberry nose, jam mouth and whipped cream hair.

They’re so pretty Arthur almost doesn’t want to eat them, but does in the end because he doesn’t want you to feel like he doesn’t appreciate it.

Of course, know you’re getting a kiss between each and every bite.

It’s while he’s eating that Arthur also notices the colourful eggs that are stashed around the apartment. He’d look over at you, eyes sparkling with delight and give you a big grin.

“Are we gonna do an egg hunt???”

He can’t remember the last time he’s done an egg hunt, if ever. Even on the good Easters, usually all they did was dye some eggs to eat later since Penny was usually too sick or didn’t have the extra money to commit to an egg hunt.

You’d smile back, and lean down to give Arthur a kiss on the forehead. “Mmm-hmmm, though don’t get too excited. There’s no chocolate in these ones but they’ll lead you to your next surprise”

It’s all Arthur can to do wolf down the last off his food before he’s off like a shot, tearing around the apartment like he’s setting an Olympic record for egg finding.

You love seeing him like this and the way the childlike wonder takes years off his expression and posture. This is Arthur at his most authentic and you want to cherish every second.

You tried to be as creative as possible when hiding the eggs, even in such a small place. There’s six of them in total and Arthur finds them all in about twenty minutes.

Like you said, the eggs don’t contain chocolate but instead are plastic shells that pop open with something inside.

Arthur would spread the contents out on the coffee table and discover that it’s basically a picture puzzle with the pieces cut into horizontal strips.

Immediately, he’s all business. He’d hunch over the coffee table and light a cigarette, his expression one of intense focus.

When you try to help or give him hints, he waves you off, determined to solve this by himself and make the most of your hard work.

So of course, you oblige him. If you’re in the apartment he shares with Penny you’d probably check in on her and make sure she has something to eat, explaining that you and Arthur will be going out for the day.

If it’s a place you and Arthur share by yourselves, then you’d start cleaning up the dishes and the kitchen while he works at the puzzle.

For once the two of you have the chance to bask in peaceful, domestic silence. While you’re excited to do all the activities you planned with Arthur, you know this is what the holidays are really about. Having these quiet moments together where you can just take it slow and not worry about what’s coming next or where you need to be.

You’d just be putting the last of the dishes away when there’s an excited cry from the living room.

You’d poke your head in through the kitchen door to find Arthur, grinning triumphantly around his cigarette with the completed puzzle on the coffee table.

The picture it makes is of Gotham Central Park, specifically the front entrance.

You’d come over to Arthur and lean down to give him another kiss on the forehead.

“Good job babe, you did that so fast! How’d I get lucky enough to get someone who’s handsome and smart?”

Arthur would sit on the couch for a moment, eyes closed and basking in the praise like a cat in a sunbeam.

When he opens his eyes a few seconds later, he’d stub out his cigarette in a nearby ashtray and ask “Are we going right now?”

The way he says it is like a kid asking about Disney world, a little breathless and like he can’t quite bring himself to believe it.

That breaks your heart a little, in spite of the glow in the pit of your stomach.

It’s just a trip to the park. You’ve done it a million times or more with your family over the years, but once again this gives you a glimpse of the kind of life Arthur has had until you came along. Things haven’t been easy for him, and so he takes nothing good for granted, no matter how small.

You’d smile at Arthur and reach down to caress the side of his face with your hand

“Yeah, if you get ready in the next fifteen minutes we could probably make the 9:30 train”

Arthur would all but leap off the couch, grinning wide and with a mischievous glint in his eye.

Before you can react, he’s scooped you up into a massive bear hug that lifts your feet clean off the floor.

He’s squeezing you so tight it hurts a little, but you don’t mind. You squeeze back just as hard.

“Thank you so much for doing this” he’d murmur in your ear “I love you so much”

He’d punctuate that statement with a long, deep kiss where he almost leans you into a dip. He’d taste like smoke with a hint of maple syrup, which makes the warmth in your gut blossom and spread in a pleasant tingle across your body.

When the kiss breaks off you’re flushed, panting and unable to say anything more than a half mumbled “you’re welcome”

Ok so basically

With Gy and Webs I feel like Gyro would have met Webby when she was young and when she got a little older she’d always want to hang with him and whenever she could she’d see if she could visit Gyro in the lab because she thought his work was cool and whatnot. Maybe Gyro found it irritating at first but he eventually got used to it and (I liked the thought of this silly hc before the mcduck trio was come up with or whatever) Webby is like the first one of the main kids he’s actually nice to (I have a dumb comic for this but it’s OLD like 2020 old so that’s staying in the depths of my old ibis gallery)

With Lp and Gyro it’s like kind of the same thing, Lp obvs works for Scrooge and wants to befriend anyone he meets that also works for Scrooge, he loves having work buddies/buddies in general, so naturally he tries to be friends with Gyro. Gyro is Not having it at first, y’ know being his normal abrasive self, giving his passive aggressive or more so aggressive replies but it doesn’t deter Lp at all. After their first interaction Lp visits Gyro in his lab sometimes to the disdain of Gyro, Launchpad usually like idk has a one sided conversation with Gyro and then leaves; maybe Gyro secretly appreciates the company. Then that turns into longer visits and eventually Gyro slowly warming up to Launchpad and actually contributing to the conversations (albeit curtly at first) and sometimes Launchpad brings lunch for Gyro since Gyro doesn’t take breaks as often as he should.

Canonically (I think) Webby and Lp don’t meet until the Woo-oo! So ig they start getting to know each other after that, but then again, I have never been one to adhere to canon but I also can’t think of anything else rn I’m sorry

This might not make any sense but ya, I feel like they grew closer during the show and once Scrooge started to go back to his old self and stuff so yeah 👍

A BROTP I have with said character: subaru and vincent + vincent and prisca/priscilla 1000%. like as for subaru and vincent like. the development of their relationship over time is really interesting to me. like they foil so well—they embody these different morals and ideals and vincent really emphasizes like cunning and ruthlessness and how you just cant be a hero or save everyone or solve things bloodlessly. and then subaru tries to do shit like his bloodless siege plan and that DID work. like i think the direction for them seems to be to have moderation with these two ideals? bc of course….. subaru cant be a hero. sometimes you cant save everyone. thats just being realistic. and on the other hand, by arc 8 vincents gone and REQUESTED the emilia camps help. which is a MONUMENTAL step given vollachias viewpoints on strength and weakness and of course the fact that vincents the emperor. like i just think subaru and vincents relationship and development together has been super fascinating. vincents not mean about natsumi (unlike rem or al…) bc why would he? crossdressing has saved his life. and vincent Has learned to trust a bit and turn to others for help by arc 8 which is super interesting i think. that and well. vincent and chishas relationship and their End to it (chisha dying :<<) got subaru thinking about how sad he’d be if otto died which…… well ig vincent and subaru gonna foil some more if otto dies 😭😭😭😭😭 LMAO… but yeah anyway i love the way vincent and subaru really emphasize and symbolize the whole themes and Contrasting Ideals of the vollachia saga. it seems like theyre set up to learn from each other some more :o

NOOOO…. IT DOESNT MATCH…..” like you have arc 5 for example and its called the stars that shape history or something. and its like yeah snazzy title, fits how arc 5 revolves around such a large cast of like the main players for the royal selection. arc 7 is called land of the wolves and yep makes sense. snazzy. fits pretty well. otherwise like. i was mostly neutral on vincent for a while—like ive always thought he was interesting but mostly i was only neutral bc i was more distracted but whatever the fuck my blorbo subaru has going on in arc 7 aodndnd yeah i was just distracted HAH. well that and arc 7 WAS my intro to vincent (and literally everything going on with vollachias politics) so like i didnt have much interest for most of the ex novels until i got to arc 7 and suddenly gained a bunch of side character blorbos along the way. and like admittedly arc 7 is. i feel like its chaotic which—ok yeah obviously its chaotic but i always felt like arc 5 was like more tightly knit with it? like more purposeful, and it was easier for me to get invested in everyone there bc royal selection stuff has been established since the beginning and the main storys been in/around lugunica…. until arc 7. for me it was like jarring at first. especially since like. littol old me with my lack of ex novel knowledge at the time was left floundering a bit bc WOAH VOLLACHIA THINGS ALL AT ONCE…. NEW CHARACTERS…. ANOTHER NEW CHARACTER… NEW CHARACTER NUMBER 1000… and tbh i was like. it felt so sudden all at once to me so i found it hard to be super invested in SO MANY PEOPLE all at once HAH. which i get was like. it was pretty understandable to have so many people. but it took me a WHILE to get warmed up to the vollachia drama for these reasons wkdndn so yes i warmed up to vincent even more over time <33 i think the final nail in the coffin for me caring about him was like. seeing his facade crack after he gets beat up by subaru in arc 8 and he just. Cracks. and he collapses to his knees and sobs over losing chisha and its such a human moment—like i think its easy to forget vincent is still human (ESPECIALLY when vollachia loathes weakness so much!!) bc he’ll do shit like only blinking one eye at a time bc Understandable Paranoia from being Vollachia’s Emperor and he’ll be like ruthless and cunning but like in that moment hes just. crying over losing his dearest friend bc said friend made this elaborate plan to sacrifice himself to save vincent. and when vincent just asked “why did you leave me?”…… like that survivor’s guilt and distress and despair and grief is so universal and understandable…. so YEAH HAH i really softened up some more to vincent bc like i said. its such a human moment and that moment with him and subaru is like tjis big step in vincents development. its fascinating!! im interested to see what happens next in arc 8 and im interested to learn more about him <3 i took a while to get used to the vollachia drama but now i am Very intrigued. and also i know way more lore now compared to when arc 7 first started so yayy!!!!! everyday i become even more of a nerd for rezero. 😭😭 im coming for those ex novels someday. like i said.

Swinging through the air, feeling the wind through your hair, watching the city’s landscape below, you understood why Peter and Miles described this as the best feeling in the world. You swung over to a light post, standing on top of it as you observed the night lights of your city. It was a quiet night, one where you felt like you could enjoy the crisp air and bask in the setting sun.

But of course, that didn’t happen.

As you looked around, you felt your Spidey-sense (or as Aunt May affectionately calls it, the Y/N tingle) fire off warnings rapidly. You barely dodged a giant sphere of magic as it was hurled at you. As you fell, you shot a web at an empty construction crane, propelling yourself away from your attacker.

“Itsy bity spider, come out to play!” A sing song voice filled the air and you felt your stomach drop.

Agatha Harkness.

You tried to swing away from the city, hoping to keep the fight away from the public when purple magic swirled around you, blind-sighting your vision. Slowly, you blinked away the magic, letting out a sigh of relief when you felt your mask still covering the lower half of your face. But panic started to sink in as you felt magical bonds on your wrists and ankles, keeping you in place. You looked around for the witch, realizing you were in an abandoned building, the foundations crumbling.

“I know, I know, this isn’t the ideal first face-to-face but it’ll have to do.”

Agatha’s voice floated through the air as she dramatically appeared from behind one of the pillars. You struggled against the magical bonds, hoping your strength would help you. It didn’t.

Agatha stalked closer to you, her eyes raking your form up and down. She brought a hand to her chin, cocking her head to the side like she was inspecting you.

“Aw the little spider fell into my web. How lucky I am, that this cute spider would crawl into my presence.”

You swallowed, desperately trying to keep your heart rate down as the witch came even closer to you, invading your space with her beautiful presence.

In the past few months, you had avoided any contact with the witch, only helping the others from the sidelines when Agatha was involved. You told yourself it was because she was dangerous and your enemy but you knew that wasn’t true.

Agatha leaned in, her eyes widening, shining with accomplishment.

“Oh did I embarrass the spider? Or…” she dragged out the word, walking around you, trailing a finger on your shoulders as she went, “is the little spider flustered?” She spoke into your ear suddenly, making you startle. She came back to stand in front of you, a smirk on her face.

“Oh shut up, Harkness.” You mumbled not so much under your breath.

Agatha raised an eyebrow, raising her hands in mock defense.

“I didn’t say anything.”

Silence dragged on between you two, uncomfortable for you but Agatha seemed to be thriving in it. Finally, she spoke.

“Do I scare you?” Her voice wasn’t vulnerable but it had lost it’s flirty edge, making you crave the warmth in her tone. Surprised, and almost on instinct, you shook your head rapidly. Something almost seemed to click in Agatha’s mind as she leaned forward, the smirk reappearing on her face. It only got wider as you felt heat rise on your cheeks, appearing over your mask. Agatha made doe eyes, blinking.

“Aww, does the little spider have a crush?”

You gritted your teeth and looked away, her condescending tone irking you. Agatha chuckled slightly at your frustration, using her magic to make you face her again.

“It seems you’re in luck, little spider. You fascinate me, in a way no one has for centuries,”

You cursed yourself for how hard you were blushing, Agatha’s honeyed tone and your vulnerable position sending shivers down your spine. You held your breath in anticipation as Agatha leaned in, her eyes migrating down to where your lips were covered by the mask.

Mmkay so for three good things about me I’d say I’m a decent cook (I make a mean omelet), I’m creative? I like all artsy type things so yeah creative, and I know the basics for how to help with mental or physical issues (I was raises by a first responder and km obsessed with anything psychology I know how to patch up an injury and how to help with a panic attack). As for three flaws, I can name more than three, let’s see I am insanely clingy like you won’t get five seconds of privacy clingy, either that I forget you exist and leave you on read for three weeks, I have a horrible sense of humor, like my sense of humor consists mostly of das jokes, sex jokes, and deez nuts jokes, and I’m a chronic potty mouth I swear up a storm on a good day.
