Do you have any kind of analysis of Cassandra's character? I find how you talk about her so interesting and different from how the rest of the fandom refers to her
i wouldn’t say i know her very well; i’ve never yet done her personal quest and i don’t bring her out a lot. here are... some notes? displayed messily
cassandra is first and foremost a violent person. when she doesn’t know how to solve a problem, she leads with violence; her interrogation of varric, her reaction when he brought hawke to skyhold, threatening to execute solas simply for failing to produce results with his tests on the anchor when the herald was first found. chancellor roderick says this outright—and you are a thug, but a thug who supposedly serves the chantry—but her use for divinia justinia was as a blunt tool, not capable of subtlety or diplomacy. unlike other members of the inquisition, she is not very capable of exerting power in other ways than violence, and she has spent her entire life expecting to hold power in any situation
cassandra could have been the inquisitor. she’s pretty much the obvious choice. she has to be actively dodging that to go on a wild goose chase to find the hero of ferelden and then the champion, and then still to evade it further and hand it over to the herald, who she may not even approve of. at haven, she at least appears at the war table. at skyhold, she doesn’t, having further and further removed herself from the role. if she does get along with your inquisitor, it suggests faith in your choices, following your lead. but it has a kind of different unique effect if she doesn’t rlly get along with your inquisitor, where it really feels like she’s been pushed out or allowed herself to be pushed out of the movement she started. either way her movement to be divine feels related to not having taken that lead position before
she gets very caught up in her own perspective on a situation. i think often of when she laughs at the herald and says “is that what you see?” when they ask if this isn’t still part of the chantry, which is what literally anyone normal would see. or her infamous comment to lavellan about whether or not there’s room among their gods for one more, completely missing that this would be a bizarre thing for them to ask of her. or describing varric’s andrastianism as “deep down, his heart is virtuous” to a non-andrastian inquisitor. etc, etc. it doesn’t occur to her to censor herself or consider how her words come across to other people who don’t have the same beliefs she does. she probably has mostly only been exposed to people who don’t have the same beliefs she does as idk antagonists and opposition, as the “criminals” she has to interrogate
she overthinks the consequences of her actions, the weight of history bearing down, in a way that suggests a kind of preoccupation with the assumption that her actions and life will be written of. nobody who reads as many of varric tethras’ books as she does isn’t kind of into that, despite her complaints. when a character constantly self-criticises but you only get approval from saying “no you’re totally good and cool and did the best you could!!!” and disapproval and sudden defensiveness from saying “yeah that was a bad move i’m glad you’re thinking about it”, i think i can come to some pretty safe conclusions about what that character really thinks and what they want to hear
her comments about “change” in her vision for the chantry are confusing at best, considering that she distinguishes herself from leliana almost exclusively by saying that leliana would change too much. her point is largely to restore things as they were, but all the things she’s restoring will, you know, somehow be better now. with very little discussion of how that could actually be achieved, as far as i can tell. even if i did agree with her end goal, i don’t think she would instil confidence
i don’t dislike cassandra i think she’s quite interesting but i don’t find her either admirable or sufficiently entertaining in order to want her approval or to hang out with her really so she does get a little left to the wayside in my attempted playthroughs personally

I asked that question about the consecrate thing because I read in a magician blog that you should always clean and consecrate the tarot card before using it because otherwise some bad stuff might get attached to you specially if you're doing reading for other people but I also saw people saying this isn't true so Idk
The problem with magic is that there are lots of kinds of it, and some of the kinds are mutually exclusive.
If one guy says, "I have personally experienced Bad Stuff getting attached to me specifically because I didn't use a consecrated tarot deck, and this problem was solved once I started performing cleansing and consecration rituals before every reading," then I'm not going to argue with him.
But I've also been reading tarot for almost 16 years, I don't consecrate most of my decks, and while I've had weird and unwanted spirit encounters while reading for others, it's not something that's destined to happen.
In fact, in my opinion, if "bad stuff getting attached" is likely to happen to a person when they read tarot, something is wrong with that situation beyond a grimy, profane tarot deck.
One reason for such difference of opinion is worldview. When I started practicing magic, I was much more worried about harmful entities getting attached to me. This is because I was raised as a Christian inside of a church that placed heavy emphasis on how many evil spirits and demons were in the world. In the Church, I was taught that every single god or spirit outside of the Holy Trinity was actually a powerful demon in disguise, waiting to trick you into selling your soul to Satan.
Even when I later decided to change my beliefs and start practicing magic, it was very hard to shake the feeling that everything spiritual was very dangerous and evil, and that if I didn't constantly take special actions to protect myself, then bad things would happen to me.
But, the more practice and experience I've accumulated, the more I've moved away from this mindset and come to believe that it isn't true. I don't cleanse and consecrate my cards before I read because I do not believe that I live in a world where it is likely that bad stuff might get attached to me because I do readings.
There could also be a practical difference. If you do lots of readings for spirit workers, or people already dealing with hauntings or bad spirit encounters, then I believe that it's more likely that a tarot reader can make unintentional spirit contact. But that doesn't mean it's possible for the spirit to "attach" itself to the tarot reader, and that doesn't mean the spirit wants to attach itself to the tarot reader.
Maybe it's possible that the person who always cleanses and consecrates their cards is working with a lot of tarot readings that specifically seek information on harmful spirits who are likely to hurt those who "spy" on them.
In addition, I'm a spirit worker and a witch. I have the capacity to deal with encountering bad stuff and dealing with bad stuff. If something negative did try to "get me" through a tarot reading, I can deal with it and resolve the situation. Because of my faith and practice, I believe I have protective spirits around me who help me with these things. I also believe that I have the power to magically protect my home so that when I do divination, bad stuff is already kept at bay, regardless of what I do with the deck of cards.
Maybe that other person is taking action according to a worldview that bad things are likely to happen if they read tarot. Maybe they're often doing "risky" readings that intentionally seek out "bad stuff." Maybe they're choosing to use an abundance of caution. Maybe their magical tradition requires or recommends these extra steps, so that's why they espouse them.
But if that person is saying that all people need to always cleanse and consecrate their decks and always take special protective steps, I disagree. I don't think that's how the world works, and in my experience, that's not how it works.

Love Reading 💬 - September 2024 - Aries
Singles:
Who is Coming In: 10 Swords & Page of Wands
Regarding: 4 Cups rev
Long-Term Potential: Knight of Wands
Nope 👎 Not this one. They have options upon options and none of them are commitment material, that’s not what this person is after. They’re flirty, probably good looking…talking dirty could be something they like to do. Very forward with their flirtations, and very flirtatious, it’s easy to want to be with someone like this, but it’s all in good fun for them. Nothing special. Just another night, another person to flirt with, another same shit different day - and that’s not to lessen your character, it’s just describing theirs. I don’t think they “cheat” because they never “commit”, they just fuck anything that moves and keeps it moving to the next one. Long-term, you’re going to be really disappointed and feel like this person used you…which is true to you, but they don’t see it that way. More like “they had fun,” and then it was over 🙏 Wise Spirit shows this person is actually very smart, probably why you thought they wouldn’t be like this - they know better. They do - they know they like this behavior, it does something for them, idk what. Variety. Or this can be switched for a crosswatcher with the waiting too long card, if you’re waiting on an Aries like this…almost anything else that’s “normal” is better. This person already knows they want a whole different path than anything you do /switch.

I see travel keeping you two apart, could be for work or family, a mixture of both. Lots of errands to be run in the free time, both of you are always on the move and don’t really have time to connect with each other more than just surface level stuff. You both expect this to change though, showing the relationship itself is solid ❤️ While there’s a period away though, there’s no communication, and I don’t even see that being the problem it’s like it’s just accepted, someone’s busy - you or them. You know you’ll hear from/see them later, no big deal.
It’s like when you finally do though, you’re expecting some kind of reception that you’re not getting. Or that’s them. They expect romance, love, warmth, and they’re/you’re not getting anything from this person really. “Meh, how’d it go?” - if that, it could be they don’t even ask that or seem to care at all that turns you off, but you end up really hurt by whatever they’re not doing. Page of Swords shows that this can be remedied with more communication in spurts - both of you. You’ve got five minutes, shoot them a quick text and they’ll get it whenever, reply when they can. More of that to alleviate stress and fears, you two should always be checking in with each other to avoid these separation periods…or unspoken expectations. Just be clear. Or a note, just because you love ❤️ them, /switch.

my beliefs
note: this doesnt speak for what swedish people are taught, these are my interpretations and personal beliefs as pertains to my faith
these also may be subject to change
general: - i believe that its our right to write new stories and myths that may be assigned canonicity to our practice - i think that you dont have to be a witch to be religious and you dont need to buy anything to be religious, i think that people who make it seem like witchcraft and paganism are things that Have to be connected for every persons practice are conmen - i do not believe in divination - i dont believe that you have to be in direct contact with gods or spirits to be “valid” in your religious practice, you arent lesser for not having direct contact and youre not special for having tea with a god - i personally dont think that direct contact is appropriate for my gods, this is not to say that i think people who do have direct contact are doing religion wrong, i just dont personally think its appropriate for my practice, i do however think accepting the possibility of direct contact with spirits like rå is essential to asatro - i believe that not everyone should have to worship the same gods or spirits equally, i live in a subarctic climate that freezes in winter and florida is Very different from southern sweden so my holidays and gods and spirits may not be as appropriate to venerate as other gods that handle hurricanes and idk alligators? - as a continuation of the last one; even if the same gods and spirits are worshipped in name, it is allowed to worship them for different aspects, like storms of thor might be more generally applied to all weather (if we figured out some kind of thing like the greeks have with epithets thatd be amazing tho)
gods balder: its my interpretation that his death in the literature was only for the sake of dying, i believe that balder is a prophetic god of death that predicts who will die so that their journey to hels halls will be easy and painless höder: the same as his brother i believe hes a god of death, one that leads the dead to Hel just as he did his brother hel: i believe that she is kind and house all sorts of dead in her halls, all from human to gods to giants to animals and extinct plants, i worship her passively because one day ill enter her halls and its just polite loke: i worship him in his capacity as an outcast, a giant amongst asa who feels blatantly mentally ill, i venerate him in his capacity as someone alive out of spite, someone who thrives out of spite, i do not act in my practice like he is bound under the snake völund: not recognised as a god by the literature i worship him as a god of modern technology and as an inventor, if my ancient pc ever dies his name is the first ill curse oden: i do not worship him and i do not trust him, he is closer to the rules of fae than man and i dont want to step on eggshells around any god of my worship frigg: it feels obvious to say, but i believe that frigg and freja are two different goddesses, frigg to me is a competitive god whos best in crafts, not as good as elves and dwarves but almost their equal and in most crafts freja: i observe that folkvanger is something like a war settlement after the asa vana war, oden has his halls to collect soldiers and to keep the sides equal freja would also keep such a hall, i also worship her as a winter goddess of the returning light frej: summer god who represents the fertilising of fall harvest as well as the conception of kids around midsummer time as opposed to freja who would be the fertility of spring and childbirth, anthropologically its to be assumed that he goes to be with his frost giant wife for half the year and thats what makes winter but im not sure i believe that sigyrn: i dont worship her but she has my utmost love and respect as a goddess of compassion and kindness, i see her in nurses and loving teachers and in kind old grannies fenrir and garm: good boys
#ive read this like 5 times to make sure its the least hostility provoking as possible#if a god isnt mentioned i either dont have any thoughts about them worth adding here like tor heimdal and bragi#or i dont have any thoughts about them at all like sif and njord#pinned

who do you think will be on the throne at the end? is there a chance it will be a woman? do you agree with the theory that bran will be king in the north bc he symbolizes winterfell? idk if i see dany on the throne bc i don't feel like she belongs in westeros, i think she would be better off with a throne on the other side of the narrow sea but i really don't know what i'm saying
It’s very hard to make predictions for ADOS, because we don’t have TWOW yet. So much can change about the story and the characters in one book, thematically and narratively. Think of how much the plot was influenced by just that final Bran chapter in ADWD.
But, here I go anyway.
My short answer is: no one. (And no, I don’t mean Arya)
Let’s get into it.
Part 1: How the Show Tainted Everyone’s Brains
Obviously, a lot of people care about the Iron Throne plot. Sometimes too much. I do believe that this is mostly because of how much the HBO show changed everything about the story to make the Iron Throne seem like it was more important than anything else. Like promotional posters of all the actors each sitting on the throne, the name of the series itself being changed to “Game of Thrones”, actors getting asked in every interview “who do you think should get the Iron Throne?” as if it’s the last cupcake at a birthday party that everyone’s fighting over, the final episode was titled “The Iron Throne”. The marketing for everything was “it’s the fight for the Throne!” up through the eighth season. It made the object itself become a huge pop culture symbol.
It almost felt like the show was trying to make it seem like the goal of the Night King (a character not in the books) was to sit on the Iron Throne! The show portrayed it as if the Others were just a little distraction that needed to be dealt with so the characters could get back to arguing over the Porcupine Chair. However, in ASOIAF, it’s the exact opposite. The Porcupine Chair is what’s distracting the characters from the real conflict, the Others.
It’s almost comical how that has somewhat transferred over into the fandom, the “game of thrones” is what’s keeping everyone from focusing on what really matters, the “song of ice and fire”.
Part 2: GRRM’s Quote
It wasn't easy for me. I didn't want to give away my books. Every character has a different end. I told them who would be on the Iron Throne, and I told them some big twists like Hodor and "hold the door", and Stannis' decision to burn his daughter. We didn't get to everybody by any means.
-George R.R. Martin
So, he “told them who would be on the Iron Throne”. Something important about this quote is that he doesn’t say who. And, of course, the Iron Throne gets destroyed at the end of the show anyway. Show!Bran doesn’t really “end up on the Iron Throne”. Show!Dany does. George never said that who “ends up” on it in the books is who ends up on it in the show. He’s said that the Shireen thing and the Hodor thing will “happen very differently” in the books anyway. And, of course, another major part of that quote is “every character has a different end”.
I don’t think that who sits the Iron Throne last is necessarily going to be the ruler of Westeros at the end. For example, Cersei (or Aegon) may be the last person to sit the Iron Throne. Or even Euron (however, even though his goal is to rule post-apocalyptic Westeros as a god from the Iron Throne, I don’t think he’ll actually get there). If wildfire is hot enough to melt iron, I could see the throne being destroyed during whatever fiery shenanigans go down with Cersei and JonCon in TWOW. I think it would be fitting for the fight over the throne to end in the next book. ‘Cause the winds of winter are coming, baby, and it’s gonna be time to start dreaming of spring.
Part 3: The Weirwood King
The idea/theory of Bran becoming King has been around for a long time, long before the HBO show even started airing. This is because of the Celtic myth of King Brân the Blessed, whose name means “Blessed Crow” or “Blessed Raven” in Welsh. Other than the obvious connection with the name, Brân the Blessed’s story involves a magic cauldron that can bring the dead back to life.
In the myth, Brân’s head is cut off and continues talking (think of how Bran’s most powerful aspect is the magical powers of his mind), because in Celtic mythology the head is believed to be where the soul is.
Celts had a reputation as head hunters. According to Paul Jacobsthal, "Amongst the Celts the human head was venerated above all else, since the head was to the Celt the soul, centre of the emotions as well as of life itself, a symbol of divinity and of the powers of the otherworld." (source)
Catch that? “Otherworld”. There is another myth (Irish, specifically) called the Voyage of Bran, in which the title character goes on a quest to the Otherworld. The Otherworld is a supernatural realm in Celtic mythology. It is also where the sidhe (a.k.a. aos sí) live. Remember, the sidhe are what George has said the Others are inspired by. In Irish mythology, the Otherworld is called Tír na nÓg, Mag Mell and Emain Ablach, in Welsh mythology it’s called Annwn, and in Arthurian legend it’s called Avalon. Fun fact, “Avalon” was the title of the novel George was writing when he had suddenly had the idea of a scene in which a young boy and his brothers see a beheading and then find a litter of direwolf pups in the snow. And so ASOIAF happened.
I’ll leave that there, and try not to go down the great big rabbit-hole of Celtic (and other cultures) mythology connections in ASOIAF. The takeaway is: ASOIAF has been influenced by these myths.
I do believe that Bran is going to be King. Not just because of his ties to this mythology, but also because of symbolism in his own story. The most notable one being…
Under the hill, the broken boy sat upon a weirwood throne, listening to whispers in the dark as ravens walked up and down his arms.
[...]
The singers made Bran a throne of his own, like the one Lord Brynden sat, white weirwood flecked with red, dead branches woven through living roots.
[...]
His father and the black pool and the godswood faded and were gone and he was back in the cavern, the pale thick roots of his weirwood throne cradling his limbs as a mother does a child.
- Bran III, A Dance with Dragons
Bran is also the only one of the Stark kids who still thinks of himself as royalty:
What was he now? Only Bran the broken boy, Brandon of House Stark, prince of a lost kingdom, lord of a burned castle, heir to ruins.
- Bran III, A Dance with Dragons
Bran is the heir to Winterfell. It doesn’t matter if Robb named Jon his heir in his will, the will was written under the pretense that Bran and Rickon were dead.
However, Bran doesn’t have any connection to the Iron Throne. It’s far more likely that he would sit on a weirwood throne, because of, y’know, everything about his story. So, if Bran was King of the Seven Kingdoms, I don’t think it would be on the Pincushion Stool.
If Bran is king of the realm, I do think there would still be a separate Lord/Lady of Winterfell, but I do think that there’s a possibility of a Pevensie siblings ending, where all the Stark kids would rule together as the Lords and Ladies and Winterfell.
Something that I’ve never really seen talked about regarding the idea of Bran becoming King of the Seven Kingdoms is the religious differences between the North and the southern regions of Westeros. Of course, the show didn’t deal with this at all. For fuck’s sake, they had Cersei blow up the Westerosi verison of the Vatican and face no backlash. It was so laughably absurd how Show!Cersei’s destructive reign was shown to have like… zero impact on the Seven Kingdoms.
In short, I’m not too sure that the Kingdom who is majority Faith of the Seven worshippers would react too well to a weirwood-tree-Old-Gods-warg-wizard-king. I mean, when Janos Slynt finds out Jon is a warg he calls him a “thing”, a “creature”, and a “beastling that is not fit to live”, and wanted to execute him not just for being a turncloak but for being a warg as well. And Jojen warns Bran of these things, saying that his own folk may want to kill him if they know what he is.
But… all of that anti-magic attitude might not matter after night falls.
Part 4: Winter is Coming
I believe that the Long Night is going to be very devastating for the Seven Kingdoms.
Martin is a big believer in making things have meaningful, permanent consequences in his stories. I don’t think that an apocalyptic event like the Long Night is something that’s just gonna get dealt with in a quick snap and have no lasting effect.
A lot of people are going to die. I don’t mean main characters, I mean people that would not survive a normal winter and sure as hell won’t be prepared for this one. Westeros’s food stores have been severely depleted by the War of the Five Kings, and we’ve been told multiple times in the text (particularly AFFC and ADWD) that feeding people during this winter is going to be extremely hard.
Besides that… the whole, uh, invasion of the eldritch ice beings thing might have a bit of an impact on the realm.
I won’t go into depth about how the Seven Kingdoms will be affected by the Long Night, ‘cause we really have no idea. But, however it all goes down, I do think it will have lasting changes for the people of Westeros. The impact that it leaves may make the concept of Bran being a wizard-king more acceptable. “Oh, well we’ve just seen zombies and winter elves, so what’s too surprising about a magical greenseer warg king?” I think that Westerosi culture becoming more aware and accepting of the existence of magic is the only way that Bran could become the king of the whole realm. The Westeros at the end of the series is not going to be the place that it was at the beginning.
Part 5: Dany: A Home, Not a Throne
To sum up my thoughts on our dragon girl, I don’t think Dany will end up on the Spiky Toilet. I don’t want Dany to be on the Spiky Toilet.
Now, my personal speculation (which a lot of people disagree with, which is fine) is that Dany will never see King’s Landing before the Long Night. I personally don’t think that Dany will ever meet Aegon or Cersei. I don’t see there being enough time in the story for that. Yes, GRRM said that there will be a second Dance of the Dragons, but he also said that the second Dance does not have to involve Dany. He may have originally planned for it to be Aegon and Dany, but probably not once the Meereenese Knot happened.
The Meereenese Knot is what Dany’s ADWD plot is referred to as. GRRM did not intend for Dany to stay in Meereen as long as she has, but because of his “gardener” style of writing, that’s where the story led him. GRRM has said that one of the hardest parts of writing the Meereen plotline (which involves Dany, Barristan, Quentyn, Tyrion, and Victarion) is trying to find a way to cut the plot knot he accidentally got himself stuck in. He has said that Tyrion and Dany will meet towards the end of TWOW, which means that Dany will most likely be spending a large portion of her story with the Dothraki. That part is a completely blank page, but I believe that Dany will meet Tyrion possibly ¾ of the way into the book, and sail for Westeros at the end.
I won’t write a full meta about this here (because that’s not what this post is about), but to summarize my prediction: Aegon VS Cersei is going to be the battle in King’s Landing, a battle which will destroy the city. Dany (who has already rejected sailing for the Throne multiple times) will still be stuck in Essos, dealing with everything she’s still got going on, and will sail for Westeros at the end. Not for the Throne, but to go North for the real fight (remember that Marwyn is also on his way to Meereen to tell Dany that they need her).
Because Dany's purpose is not to fight for the Iron Throne, it’s to fight the Others. Dany (fire, light, and life) VS the Others (ice, darkness, and death) is the main thing the title refers to:
“Well of course the two outlying ones, the things that are going on north of the Wall and Daenerys Targaryen on the other continent with her dragons are of course the Ice and Fire of the title, the Song of Ice and Fire.”
- George R.R. Martin, 2016
One of the most important excerpts that shows us where Dany’s story is headed is this:
That night she dreamt that she was Rhaegar, riding to the Trident. But she was mounted on a dragon, not a horse. When she saw the Usurper's rebel host across the river they were armored all in ice, but she bathed them in dragonfire and they melted away like dew and turned the Trident into a torrent. Some small part of her knew that she was dreaming, but another part exulted. This is how it was meant to be. The other was a nightmare, and I have only now awakened.
- Daenerys III, A Storm a Swords
Dany has a short prophetic “this is what I was meant to do” dream. Dany could possibly have more dreams about the Others in TWOW, visions that will make what Marwyn has to tell her more believable. It’s not like that dream was the only one Dany has had that alludes to the winter threat, Dany has had visions about this since book one:
The red door was so far ahead of her, and she could feel the icy breath behind, sweeping up on her. If it caught her she would die a death that was more than death, howling forever alone in the darkness. She began to run.
- Dany IX, A Game of Thrones
Anyway, there’s just a lot more foreshadowing in the plot that this is what Dany is meant to do. I think adding in another conflict into her story once she leaves Meereen would make the story feel bloated and would severely fuck up the pacing.
I don’t think Dany will ever see the Iron Throne. The themes of her story have never been about her wanting the Iron Throne for what it is, but for what it represents to her. It represents the possibility of a home and of feeling safe for the first time in her life, what Dany truly wants. I think that it’s absolutely fine if Dany never sees the Throne or sits on it, and that it makes more sense for her narrative arc if she discovers that she can find a home somewhere else, not necessarily where she thought it would be.
Part 6: Final Thoughts
So, in conclusion, I don’t really give a shit who ends up placing their ass on the Forbidden Laz-E-Boy, I care about the War for the Dawn. I care about seeing the characters I’ve followed for the past five books coming together to fight the real conflict of A Song of Ice and Fire. Also, even if we do get a Scouring of the Shire-type post-climax for ASOIAF, it doesn’t matter. People don’t see the Scouring of the Shire as the climax of Lord of the Rings, they see the climax as Aragorn leading the forces of good against the forces of evil and Frodo and Sam throwing the One Ring into Mount Doom. Whatever ending resolution comes after the climax of ASOIAF, it doesn’t change what the climax is.
"Do you think your brother's war is more important than ours?" the old man barked.
Jon chewed his lip. The raven flapped its wings at him. "War, war, war, war," it sang.
"It's not," Mormont told him. "Gods save us, boy, you're not blind and you're not stupid. When dead men come hunting in the night, do you think it matters who sits the Iron Throne?"
"No." Jon had not thought of it that way.
- Jon IX, A Game of Thrones
TL;DR:
My prediction: Cersei will be the last person to sit the Iron Throne, which will be destroyed in the Wildfire of King’s Landing. After the Long Night devastates the Seven Kingdoms, Bran will become the King of this new Westeros that has been majorly affected by the return of magic. Also, it would be real nice if Dany found her red door.
God I hope my rambling made sense

This is my Inquisitor (so overjoyed you can be a qunari), her name is the default Herah and I decided I’m going to approach this game by staying true to a character and not looking to do everything and be on everyone’s good side u_u
I want to make a good background for her so i’m not telling anything. Yet. I’ll just say she’s a qunari mercenary and prefers using two-handed weapons.
Highlights from today:
Studying history does pay off! This was a reference to the famous book in environmental history - Guns, Germs and Steel by Jared Diamond. So proud i recognised it x)
Also i don’t have a good shot of solas but he cracks me up so much.. The guy has a posture of the typical retired grandpa (the only thing missing is to have him walk with his hands on his back). And there’s a scene where the party sees the rift and there’s the inquisitor facing it, cassandra bracing herself and solas... just standing like an old man
On a side note, Cassandra is so gorgeous and good and i already love her, i just keep taking shots of her TAT
As for varric, it’s so different than from da2, this is so much more “official” and you can see he’s the same as ever, but you’re not hawke, hawke’s not here, the gang’s not here and there’s nothing casual about the whole situation T-T
And lastly, my inquisitor has a horse now, i didn’t know that was possible in the game ;__;
played some more...
Let me start with.... The advisors! (+ cassandra... or is she also an advisor too?)
What a bunch. I love Cassandra’s and Leliana’s faith having a crisis bc they believe that Inquisitor is the Herald of Andraste and the way they deal with it. It’s really interesting. Leliana is completely opposite than what she was in origins and i’m surprised it doesn’t bother me at all! I love seeing this whole darker side that was only hinted at in origins, though it’s also sad when i think how she used to be. I wonder how she’s gonna overcome her doubting of faith.
Josephine is a delight. I keep using her for almost every war table mission for now. She radiates capability. She reminds me of those bureaucrats that are super nice and helpful and chill and even if you’re doing everything wrong she’ll just smile and say “it’s ok, we can fix it” and then goes and fixes everything herself (and you feel this insane amount of gratitude you send a whole separate email to thank her for her patience and help )
As for Cullen... It’s interesting... I got impression from what i saw in the fandom that he’s supposed to have had his allegiance changed and him rejecting the templars should have been him ultimately siding with the mages (or at least being anti-templar(?)), and that turning point that could have been a great way to show his character development during the game. Which i agree, only... i did not get that impression from the game so far at all. I mean, so far everything that i can remember him saying is totally smth he’d say in da2... He didn’t leave kirkwall bc of his disappointment with the templar order, he doesn’t seem to have any issues with the templars except those who go full war mode instead of trying to balance the situation. And it’s a really chaotic situtation, i love how they did it.
This line was amazing, i wish there was a special cutscene for that.
I’m loving the way they made this huge religious organisation in crisis have a complete collapse with the death of a key figure. I love the concept of inquisition and problems that it poses. I love you can see everyone’s reasoning and doubts reflect their background, but also see why inquisition can be understood as another power-grasping organisation trying to topple the templars, the mages and the chantry. Everything is divided. We got templars leaving the chantry, seekers leaving the chantry(?), rebel mages, loyal mages, rebel mages gone rouge, templars gone rouge, and suddenly there’s another organisation forming that you can totally believe is just another powerhungry force trying to get the piece of the cake by taking advantage of the power vacuum left by the sudden lack of the religious authority. (and only we know we’re The Good Guys). I love that we have characters who need to believe in the greater plan, characters who question the greater plan, and characters who want to utilise the power of belief and characters who don’t care for divine plans. The chaos is real and it feels real. I love that the centre figure of the whole holy business is a heretic of another culture. For the chantry this is the lose-lose situation (unless the inquisitor becomes religious by the end of the game). Which is why this line works so well.
Ok, now shorter updates:
Red Jenny! I know it’s not her actual name but it is in my head. Where’s that box i delivered ages ago >_> Anyways, she makes my brain work on 150% capacity. I can understand what she means only after i go over it for 5 times.
Forgive me but oh my god, i can’t believe that i can recognise one voice actor and now i have another mental image whenever he speaks. Like, he’s really good at bringing out a new character, but when he gets more casual he sounds like kanan jarrus from star wars rebels and i’m just “what are you doing here, space dad” ;__; Hopefully it’ll get old and i’ll be enjoying more iron bull. he seems nice...
Vivienne on the other hand is like a reverse Josephine(?) She seems insanely capable but hates customer service, however somehow she likes you very much and will do everything you need for reasons you can’t fathom. Have a screenshot. So classy. I already feel humbled.
and lastly, BREAKING NEWS: aveline finally hired carver ;__;
Tbh Kirkwall is still a mystery and i have so many questions but i don’t think i’ll get any answers... If a powervacuum of the divine cause this much chaos, how’s kirkwall faring without a new viscount? Like, yeah, aveline can keep in check, but umm it’s in a very vulnerable state which makes it a good target for any invasion... didn’t sebastian promise bloodshed?
That’s all for now, bc otherwise i’ll start writing an essay on cassandra.
We befriended a bear in the hinterlands!
lets start with this cool shot
so, i have been to the mages and to the templars and... i sided with the templars.... First i was all for mages since they offered negotiations while the seeker just walked away, but then it turned out that was a trap, there’s also tevinter mages there (which is a red flag for my inquisitor) and then there’s some time magic involved (which is a big no for me), and i just walked out. Felt bad for the mages but my inquisitor comes from a culture where mages have their tongues cut so...
Also this guy deserves a medal for putting up with corrupted superiors and annoying nobles.
And i met cole ;__; Where are Rhys and Evangeline ;___;
the templar mission was ok i guess... I was surprised that red lyrium was apparently circulating around for some time, not sure if that means since meredith or even before. I love the stories of corruption tho and to imagine what it’s like to be trapped in this organisation that just keeps breaking everything it stands for
As for the important mages, i’ve Dorian twice since i bailed out on him in Redcliffe :I I love the guy, he seems arrogant yet so kind (like, no one would have carried that annoying priest and yet he did, after he ran from his own people to warn us after i ditched him in Redcliffe? man ;A;) Every time i go with “ok the inquisitor fears tevinter and distrusts this rando who just popped in” i am marinating in guilt.
and then we fight some mages and die several times but we succeed and we meet the bad guy...
Is it an unpopular opinion to say that i like him as a villain so far? i saw so many jokes on his incompetency. Idk, i like that part where he said that he reached the fade in someone’s name, it makes me think he’s not just power-hungry person(?) who’s just evil, but was originally serving someone, and he said that the gods were either gone or corrupted and he spent hundreds of years thinking what to do with whatever happened so he seems like he knows what he’s doing and maybe(!just maybe) he is trying to fix things that are wrong but we can’t see that? And of course he hates the inquisitor, he has to redo his stuff all over again, i’d hate the inquisitor too. im probably looking too much into it. My wish is that, if he’s evil, he became so gradually, but originally had good intentions? Or there’s more to things going on that we just don’t know and he does... Maybe this was his tragic attempt to fix things but he would ultimately fail and be branded as a villain etc etc. I’m getting carried away
If it turns out he’s just evil for the sake of being evil then feel free to tell me so now so i don’t embarrass myself further with plotting myself lol.
A side note, is he the Architect? Or the same? In DA2 he says he’s a tevinter magister, right? and he ceased to be a human. Also in DA2 it seemed like he was the boss, and here he said he reached in the name of someone (probably more important than him). But what is the Architect then?
And with that we reach the skyhold.
in skyhold
I didn’t know you meet hawke so soon ;__; i thought that was like, somewere more to the end of the game, since the big decision and all. But the mission is already opened and i am going to procrastinate on it until i finish every side mission :<
Also he is so sad ;__; i understand, but at the same time... all that humour now bitter sarcasm :’(
(also, very shallow remark, but i really really prefer his looks in da2 than here... it’s like they softened him. He’s more...oh god idk bearish(???) than hawkish(????) you know what i mean? the nose isn’t as sharp anymore, the beard is... what is it with the beard... anyways i get the game has its limits so it’s fine. it’s fine! fine.)
then there was the fight that i remember since twitter >:D
It’s what made me want to play dragon age and i finally reached it T-T so good! I love how you can see the both sides and everything they say is true but they’re so angry at themselves they’re taking it out on each other TAT
Cassandra later says Hawke probably wouldn’t have joined the inquisition even if she found him, and i wonder now if that’s true... At first i thought, nah, Hawke has too much of a hero complex, he would feel too responsible to just say no. Besides, he’s with the inquisition now (tho i can’t find him anywhere anymore!). But at the same time, the way da2 ends was such an iconic walking away from everything, and not taking into account the hocus-pocus rift stuff, i can imagine him refusing, especially seeing how bitter he is now. It’s also a question of how much would have cassandra told him i guess. idk, what do you think? Would he lead or nah?
another person i want to find but can’t in skyhold are the templars with ser barris. i can use them on war table missions but otherwise they’re non-existant? i forgot to talk to him back in haven but now i wonder if it was even possible and if he was even available there, since he isn’t here. I spent hours just running around skyhold looking for the guy :(
and then everything becomes unimportant bc aaaaa!! she! is the arcanist! Dagna! im so happy and proud(?) she went and reached her goals x)
anyways that’s all for now, laters
some random updates:
so i did the halamshiral and gave up to my “stick to the character” mode, and nothing went my way, but that’s life. Met morrigan! i almost forgot she appears lol. And, despite also jumping on the wagon of give-morrigan-better-clothes train, i have to admit seeing her in her old clothes was a relief after that dress at the ball. It’s not the way the dressed looked, but the way she moved in it... god im shallow
i also initially didn’t like morrigan being at orlais court of all places, but after the conversation that’s supposed to explain why she’s there i’m kinda ok with it. I mean, i still need some more info. Wouldn’t Tevinter be better? she’d practically become a magister overnight if she got this good in the game so fast. It’s also unconvincing how everyone knows everything in orlais but somehow nobody connected that the random kid that has no bakcground whatsoever with morrigan who keeps checking on him? But at skyhold she’s just “hey i have a kid, he’s no trouble, right?” but hey, it’s morrigan. She can do anything. I’ll just have another story idea in my head.
Then there was news of the new divine that could be either cassandra or leliana and i don’t honestly know whom to choose. I’d prefer leliana over cassandra simply bc cassandra is more of a military mind, while the position of the divine would be more political. But lately every mission with leliana was spy spy, kill kill... Do we really want that for a religious leader? On the other hand, it would nicely round up her story from origins to inquisition... But cassandra is more of a public figure than leliana is...
when cassandra said:
“I want to respect the tradition, but not fear change. I want to right the past wrongs, but not avenge them. And I have no idea if wanting any of them makes them right.”
great moment. She’s usually so convinced and rash, i forget she’s more doubtful and open minded than what she looks like. Everything about cassandra is different from the impression she gives ;__; I love her so so so so much. (when she says she considers the inquisitor her friend i melted, next time varric pulls up the “seeker has no friends” joke, my heart will no longer be breaking).
I did a bunch of personal missions. Some were cool, some were ????. Also there were war table missions with zevran, that was cool. Also i love the codex entries in skyhold. The archery competition with varric banned? Dancing lessons failing bc lace harding is on the move all the time? Perfect.
And i met chargers, i like them, and aaah that staff-bow from the trailer is such a cool idea ;A;
What i don’t get with bull’s chargers is - they’re a mercenary group right? But isn’t swordselling seen as the complete misunderstanding of the qun? I get only bull is qunari, but he’s the leader of them? How is that not frowned upon?
And lastly, i don’t think i’ve said this, but i love that they added codex entries in the loading screens. love it.
update
After months of procrastination, i have faced my fears and have met alistair. it was very anticlimatic beating 11 level monsters when i was level 21...
but.. ALISTAIR TAT He’s changed... but not changed... but changed! Like, his personality is the same, but he’s more serious, doesn’t run from responsibilities, isn’t as bitter as hawke (also, why do i get impression that i am supposed to get the impression that they’re friends? they’ve met like, once, and talked for less than a minute.. whatevs. let’s pretend they’ve met again when on the run), i really love the inquisition alistair ;;__;;
Also, i managed to get that awkward demon baby family reunion :D
know that morrigan says the vaguest generic thing “i told him his father was a good man” bc of various world states, but i also think she’s come a long way not to mock alistair, and then when he notices that she didn’t use the opportunity he mentions that the kid changed her and she’s like “pfft, yea right, you wish”....
... when she was the one who said that in the first place ;;__;;
Awwww :> I love that they bicker but softly. Kids have grown up :’) Anyways, when will alistair start paying alimony
The only weird one is Leliana bc when morrigan was introduced she was like “danger danger” (smth i’d sooner think alistair would do), and when alistair is (supposedly) in skyhold, Leli doesn’t even mention him, only hawke. bruh, what were they to you, you almost died together ;;__;;
oh i also slayed a dragon. I didn’t even want to fight that dragon. It was a hillarious feat of inquisitor, solas, cole and blackwall, all on level 21, having to chug all the health potions right at the beginning while fighting a dragon that was... level 13, after which i just let go of controls and suddenly everyone was hella good at fighting and slayed it (only cole needed revival several times).
And, befitting the wild-dream feel that it had, when i got back to skyhold and visited companions, suddenly i was drinking pelin with iron bull, and he’s reminiscing on that fight with the dragon and i’m like
it was awful and you weren’t even there.
i forgot to update
but last time i was playing i finished the hawke/alistair sacrifice and all the torture i went through with deciding whom to sacrifice vanished bc frankly, at one moment, i wanted to sacrifice both of them, but in the end it was much more easier to sacrifice hawke bc inquisition hawke just didn’t feel like hawke to me, while alistair improved since the origins!
and now i remembered why i didn’t update, in the same day cassandra rejected me so i was sad and didn’t continue playing since then (i think last time i played it was around easter?)
new update
BLACKWALL!! or should i say Thom Rainier? Wow, what an arc! It was also so fun bc i was all strict mode, picking the third option, telling him his life is in inquisitor’s hands and all that, but in the end i set him free. He’s so good, a true knight T-T
Also i romanced sera. we’ll see how that goes.
Also, fave point in the game so far, i wanted, for so long, to sit at that val roeayoux (can’t spell) cafe and finally did it with cole’s personal mission. THANK YOU COLE YOU TRULY CAN READ PEOPLE’S MINDS.
another interesting thing was that after specialising as a reaver, cassandra said that drinking dragon blood makes you grow scales and become mad. Iron Bull said that inquisitor smells better bc dragon blood and that qunari generally smell better than humans. So i’m guessing qunari have fractions of dragon in them? ok...
and now i started that mission with morrigan and the puzzles are killing me lol, i am this 👌 close to just go chase calpernia and give up on a well of sorrows.
#it's a terrible time to start a dragon age game but it's the only time#meet me at val royeaux with my pal cole fixing people's lives every sunday 5 pm

It’s a Date: Hotch/Foyet
Lots going on personally, I’ve not been in the best headspace, so I wanted to finish up this writing exercise to get my creativity going again with. There’s maybe a follow-up in the works 👀
Hotch/Foyet, threatening flirting and a deal Hotch can’t say no to.
Rating: T (M? IDK only thing mature is talking of murder and horny language)
It didn’t surprise him when, a week after his escape from prison, Hotch received a phone call. It was to his government cell, which made sense; he gave the number to George in case he needed to talk.
Looked like he needed to talk.
“Agent Hotchner.” Hotch answered automatically, used to unfamiliar numbers all the time.
The familiar sigh had the hairs rising on the back of his neck, though this time, Foyet didn’t bother affecting a voice. It still made his skin prickle, knowing the face to the name. "I want to make a deal."
It was a mimicry of that call in Boston, and Hotch had to grit his teeth to reply. "We've been over this, monsters like you don't get deals."
"You may want to listen to this one."
To match their pattern, Hotch hung up.
The next day, a letter with a Reaper's eye appeared in his mailbox, with pictures of three people Hotch didn’t know captured intimately close to their doorstep, their car, their bus stop. None looked any wiser to the man stalking them. Naturally he took the pictures to Garcia, and to local police, but they all came up dry.
Hotch waited for the phone call.
"What's the deal."
Foyet paused for a moment, probably surprised Hotch didn’t offer a greeting. He answered with, "Why the change in heart?"
"Don't bullshit, what's the deal."
"What if I told you it was Shaughnessy's?"
"I'd call you an idiot for trying it again.” Hotch didn’t bother mincing words. “I already alerted authorities to your targets."
Foyet’s laugh crackled the phone line. "Tell me if you find them. Look, there's no need to be so dramatic. I don't intend to do them any harm."
"Forgive me if I don't believe you."
"Then let's get back to that deal."
Hotch waited rather than answer. Foyet sighed.
"Man of so few words. The deal is, I don't touch a single hair on some inconsequential person's head. Not so long as you do something for me."
"I’m not going to stop hunting you.” Hotch said immediately, ready to end the call again if Foyet continued with this pointless game.
"That's not on the table anyway.” Foyet replied with apparent disinterest. “Actually I'm enjoying our game of cat and mouse. I'm sure you're asking now, who's the cat and who's the mouse?"
Hotch didn’t indulge, done with his strange game as he snapped, "What the hell do you want?"
"Temper temper agent. I just want some quality time with you."
"Quality time."
"What can I say, a man gets lonely, and you look spectacular in those dress pants, do you do squats?"
It took every ounce of Hotch’s will not to hang up again. He didn’t reply either.
"God that stick is wedged up far, how do you sit?"
Apparently Foyet had no intentions of actually offering a deal. This was an easy, effortless tactic to assert dominance and control, Hotch should have known better.
Hotch sighed through his nose, "If you're just here to yank my chain, then this phone call is over."
"What makes you think I'm yanking your chain?"
"Nothing in your profile says that you're gay."
"That's awfully narrow-minded of you, what's Jack gonna think if one day he has to come to you and tell you his girlfriend's actually a boy-"
"You're not gay Foyet."
"I'm genuinely hurt."
Hotch said nothing.
"Alright, you're right, I'm not. But you really think I'm only straight?"
Hotch chewed his tongue, hating that he knew that while Foyet was a sexual sadist, and usually showed preferences to women, it wasn’t always. "No."
"See? Was that so hard? You're a handsome man, Aaron, of course I think you're hot, you should work on that self-esteem."
Foyet really needed to stop fucking around, he didn’t have the time. Hotch was losing what little patience he’d mustered as he said, "What the hell are you getting at with this?"
"Have you traced my call yet?" Foyet asked conversationally, still in no mood to oblige.
Hotch was sure Foyet called him purposefully during work hours, not that it mattered. His cellphone had been tapped since the first call. Unfortunately that didn’t matter either; they had been on the call for over ten minutes but Garcia, prattling into his earpiece, kept expressing her frustrations over pinging cellphone lines in Brazil, Bolivia, several other countries south but none near DC. Foyet was a computer technologist, it isn't a surprise. The fact Garcia was listening to this while she worked—the groans and muttered statements of “gross” filling his earpiece beyond her non-cursing—was knowledge Hotch decided to willfully ignore.
"Get to a damn point."
Foyet sighed again, and Hotch could almost see the head shake. "We need to work on your foreplay."
Hotch was convinced now. He had a stroke, that or contracted malaria; either way he had started hallucinating the world's worst nightmare in his death throes.
"You won't kill anyone... If I let you. Stare at my ass?"
"Oh, Hotchner. More than stare."
Hotch was glad he was on the phone, because even that made his eyes widen. "You're not serious."
"I'm dead serious."
"You want me to prostitute myself to you."
"That's loaded sentence. Especially since I'm not paying you. Think of it as more, vigorous arch enemy fucking that makes me forget how much I wanna hurt you."
"The answer is no."
"Then someone dies. Maybe it's one of those three, maybe someone else. Shit, maybe your wife. I can find her, you know that."
Rather than feel horror at that, or try to convince Foyet not to and waste his breath, Hotch muttered, "Maybe you like men, but I don't."
Foyet scoffed into the phone. "Don't lie to me. I remember how you were. You flirted with me back then."
Hotch felt sick. He felt sicker still knowing that Foyet was right. In another world, another place, when Foyet had just been George, he wouldn't have turned him down.
Foyet’s voice dropped low then. "I know you've thought about it, Aaron. How I might taste. What I'd look like on my knees. I know I have. You sound so good, I bet you're divine when you moan. Remember when I came home from the hospital? God, if you weren't so good and faithful to your wife, we would have done wicked things that night.”
Hotch did remember. Foyet—George—had been unsteady on his feet, fell into Hotch and he had stared at him for too long. The heat emanating from his body where they pressed, lithe muscle under his palms coupled with the cool brush of George's breath on his cheek, the hand on Hotch's jaw had been nearly enough to make him break his vows.
"Come on, what's the harm? You get to keep hunting me, you're guaranteed that as long as we keep this up, I won't go after anyone. No strings attached, just a good clean fuck."
Hotch chewed his cheek, curbing down the heat coiling in his cut at the sound of his low voice purring that into his ear. He couldn’t bring himself to answer, knowing the words would come out strangled.
"I'll give you a day to think about it. And so that you can answer with a few less prying ears."
Foyet hangs up. Hotch's head is on the desk by the time Garcia clears her throat and meekly says she wasn't able to trace the call.
It took a week before Foyet called back. He did so on his personal cell this time, which Hotch had asked not to be traced. When the familiar number popped up, Hotch answered with, "I suppose it's too much to ask that this is a one-time deal."
"…Hello to you too."
Hotch sighed, and Foyet hummed.
"Alright, to business. Think of this as more of a resetting of a countdown clock. The closer I get to zero the closer I get to that itch that just can't be scratched, and this strange desire to fuck you will be overridden by the need to well, kill. But if you keep me satisfied, you will reset that clock. Won't reach zero as long as we keep our deal."
It made sense. It was mostly clean, though Hotch had no reason to believe Foyet would keep his end of the deal beyond knowing Foyet genuinely enjoying a man’s suffering had been enough in the past. This wasn’t like Shaughnessy though, god knows this wasn’t like Shaughnessy. Was his unwillingness and distaste for this truly enough? Knowing he had gotten Hotch to agree? There were other options, ones less out of left field and ones more likely to get a yes from him. Why this, why…
Hotch didn’t know why he asked it, other than trying to find something grounding in what felt only like a cruel dream not yet tumbling towards nightmare.
"Why me?"
Foyet was quiet for a long time, and then, "Why not you?"
Hotch sighed, "No."
"No?" Foyet reiterated, an edge to it that sounded like threat. Hotch didn’t care.
"You heard me. No, I get one real answer from you, then—"
Hotch caught himself too late. Hotch could hear the smile. "Then what?"
There was so many other things Hotch might have said yes to. There were so many reasons why Hotch should say no. There was no way in hell Hotch could tell him yes.
His voice almost faltered on his reply. Hotch barely heard himself when he said it. "Then I'll take the deal."
Foyet chuckled, low against his ear, close enough to shudder through his chest and prickle his skin. "Of all the things to ask me. Are you sure you want it to be 'why you'?"
Hotch could ask a thousand questions. Why he chose to kill, why he played these games. The thing was, Hotch already knew. He knew Foyet lashed out because hurting others was a release after he had been so violently abused. Hotch knew he got off on power and control because he had his own stripped away. Hotch knew his sadism grew when he was a child left to his own devices, cruelty made into a language of love that twisted and warped him into this man they hunted today. Hotch knew all of that. He didn't understand why this.
There were so many games he could play with Hotch, plenty that would invoke the same level of suffering. Foyet could have ambushed and tortured him, even raped him if his end goal was purely carnal. He didn't. If Foyet intended on killing him after their sex—he doubted it, it shortened his suffering—he'd end the long game by getting arrested. If the unwillingness was the goal, then why taunt Hotch with the memory he had been attracted to him? There was a mind game to this Hotch couldn't piece together, some level of interest and infatuation with Hotch himself he didn't understand.
“Yes. Why me. Why bother with this?”
Foyet sighed audibly, almost a groan. "Really, agent? Because you get me hard. You make me feel like a little schoolboy that can't keep himself from pulling your pigtails. Because it’s a little difficult getting your dick wet on the run. So please oh please won't you go to the dance with me?"
As much as Foyet attempted to make the reply as repulsive as possible, Hotch's brows shot up to his hairline. Infatuation he anticipated, but the deflection spoke more of...of an obsession with Hotch himself. Hotch wondered in that moment, just how much control Foyet had over this desire himself. Hotch cleared his throat.
"If you bring a knife into the bedroom I will shoot you."
"Kinky. It's a date."
“So when should I expect you?” Hotch asked, and then added dryly, “Should I bring a corsage?”
Foyet barked out his laugh, “I’ll call you, how’s that? And just so we’re clear. You know what happens if you try to use this to catch me.”
With that Foyet hung up, with no time, place, or expectation of when this would begin.
Fuck. Fuck. What had Hotch gotten himself into?

Three-Month Break
I decided, at the end of July, to take a break from religious social media. I needed to see if I still bothered to practice this religion and if my beliefs held up if I spent time away from the constant positive reinforcement that comes from Tumblr, Discord communities, YouTube comments sections, &c. I felt like, oftentimes, I was posting to the Hellenism discord, r/Hellenism, and Tumblr for heart reaccs, social clout, digital ass pats - basically, I sometimes wondered if I was actually worshipping the gods, or was I just trying to fit in with a group. This is especially concerning to me because 1) I don't have many close friends irl, & 2) I already spend way too much time on social media trying to get approval from people I barely know and barely like. Not to mention, I just moved to a new city, I don't have any friends here, and can't go out and meet people because quarantine. I wanted to see if my religion was in part being a desperate sad boi. Would I still be Hellenic without the community, without the sense of belonging? I don't mean to make anyone feel bad by saying this, but this situation is legit how people get sucked into cults. I don't want any of that shit.
Furthermore, it seems to me that these communities form echo chambers - orthodox comments get like reaccs, stuff outside the Hellenic "Overton Window" gets dragged, and idk, it gets kind of repetitive. Don't get me wrong- I still love the online Hellenic community and sometimes really good discussions occur, but the nature of online communities is to orbit around an acceptable "in group" of ideas. We select for people/ideas we like and everyone else gets yeeted. That's not necessarily bad, it just is what it is. One goal of mine was to see how, or indeed if, my praxis and beliefs changed without feeling like I need to "run it by the community first". This was a secondary concern though, and I'll touch on it later.
I'd previously read (don't remember where) that it takes about three months to form new habits, and about three months to break them. Therefore, for me to actually get any information from my break, it would need to be for at least three months. If I were to fall away from the religion altogether, I figured that's about how long it would take. Also, I resolved to not lurk either. After all, if I, say, heart reacc'd a Discord post, or reblogged something on Tumblr, I'd still get the satisfaction of contributing to the community, and I'd still be encouraging certain content (subtlety shaping the "Overton Window" with my approval or disapproval of content). So, no dm's about religious stuff, no talking to people in the community about religious stuff, no reacc'ing to posts - just staying away altogether and seeing what happens.
So - how'd it go?
1) I still practiced my personal cultus. It helped that just before the hiatus I made a sort of weekly worship schedule. Structure seemed to help in the absence of community. However, I feel like my Deipnon observances weren't as elaborate or ritualistic, which is a problem for me (I'd previously gathered from my divination practice that Hekate would like for me to be more formal, thoughtful, and ritualistic with her monthly meal).
2) I have some new views on miasma, which I'll post about some other time.
3) I'm like 80% sure that I now sync Selene and Artemis. And I'm like 50% sure I will soon sync Artemis, Selene, and Hekate (maybe even Isis). This, and no. 2, help me to realize that I don't necessarily need historical precedent or community approval for every part of my belief and praxis.
4) My relationship with Asklepios has grown. I was only two months into my new job back in July, but now I'm at five months as a nurse. I'm still extremely new to the field, but the emotional toll is already intense- all the pain, suffering, sickness, and death has been getting to me. I rely on Asklepios a lot to get through my shifts and for, idk, like closure? Existential clarity? Like a sense of meaning and purpose in the face of all the shit I help my patients deal with as a bedside RN. The frequency of offerings is probably the same as before my hiatus, but the prayers and reverence have increased a great deal. To that end, I've also focused on Apollo more recently than I ever have before. Relying on religion to help cope with suffering and death - who'da thunk rofl
5) I started a YouTube channel. Of course, the video I uploaded is set to only release after my exile is over. I kinda just want to do a channel for Hellenic prayers and meditations. We'll see how that goes.
So what now?
I think that, moving forward, I'll be in a better position to engage critically with the community. Having spent a good bit of time away, I think I'll be more able to speak my opinion even if it goes against Internet Hellenic Orthodoxy, because I now know that I don't *need* internet religious groups. Also, I feel more secure practicing. I don't have to worry about whether or not the internet approves or disapproves of my praxis or beliefs. Fuck it - my religion is between me and the gods, right?
I would encourage any Hellenic polytheist, or any sort of pagan, who engages with religious social media daily or almost daily to try a similar sort of experiment. Take some time away from the community and see what happens. Maybe you'll grow in your faith, and maybe not - that's ok too. Work on some of your irl friendships, try a new hobby (I've been doing Inktober and picked up an instrument again for the first time in years), read, or write. I've gotten more reading done recently than I have in ages. And when you do practice, resist the urge to check with the internet. Resist the urge to post photos of your altar when you make changes. Resist the urge to share the hymns you write. I think my time off helped me - what might it do for you?

hi i’m BM💗 (19) and i’m a sagittarius whose favorite color is pink, and likes to eat hot cheetos! i’m inquiring about NP🧜🏾♀️ (19) whose a pisces. so NP and I met at work where we instantly became best friends. i ended up liking NP and I told her after it became really bad for my health. we established that she didn’t feel the same and we remained friends. She ended up going to the Navy but we kept in contact, sending letters back and forth and then ft calls when she was able to. i made her do majority of the reaching out at this point because i used to always be the first and i couldn’t read her to know if she would do the same for me. in August of last year i got tired of feeling like i was the one doing the labor for the friendship and after the smallest disagreement i told her to have a good life without me. i reaches back out in september to rekindle because i missed her and i told her so, but after a failed plan of going out i decided that i felt i was forcing her to care and love me, when it was known on my part. i stopped communicating with her first and she reached out again on my birthday but kept it short and almost rude. i told her happy new year and even wished her a good deployment. i still think about her quite often, because this person was my best friend and is someone i can’t choose to love, i just do. i honestly just want to know if the love is reciprocated and if we have a chance of reuniting once she’s back from deployment? my favorite animals are dolphins 🐬 and cats 🐈. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND ENERGY❗️(i left a tip but idk if i properly put my name and initials)
HELLOOOOOOO your daily dose of tarot -and an essay lol- has arrived =D Before we get into it, I would like to preface this with any wondering eyes that this is actually a very good example of my readings lol. Anyway, a disclaimer: the future is always changing, nothing is ever set in stone. I give you one possiblitiy of countless others. I try to pick up as many as I can but ultimately since this does deal with other people, I can only give to you what the cards want me to see. if some of this seems open ended it is because the other person, or people involved have not decided fully what they want to do. If you do not like what the cards say you literally can and should change the outcome. With that being said, lets get to it ;) if you have any other questions for me -especially regarding pendulum- please feel free to let me know. You did tip as well so if there’s any other forms of uh divination you would like me to use please let me know. Otherwise I have stuck to the big three ;) Pendulum, Tarot, Oracle. okay, let’s get into it lol oh, also, if you want an actual pdf of this, I will gladly give it to you lol
I got your tip and don't worry about tipping more lol. I do not do this for the tips, but merely to help =) I only started the tipping thing because in depth readings take a lot out of me and so yea, that's why it's only like three dollars lol also before we get really into it some notes: I noticed this reading has a lot of love energy in it. whether it is self love, platonic love, or romantic love, it does not matter to me. I am a firm believer love conquers all things and I truly believe that with a bit of it, you two can get back to being friends again or move on to something better. a LOT of your oracles mention love. take how it resonates to you, but I firmly believe a lot of it is platonic and self love. there’s also a huge theme of something ending. it could be the relationship with her and you two departing but I’m feeling it’s the relationship as you know it. I think you two will become stronger together and fight through this.
anyway
The Energy between the two of you: three and ten of wands, six of swords, Eight of wands, High Priestess with the Tower as the overall energy. (also King of pentacles, 6 of pentacles, hanged man, chariot, queen of wands, ace of pentacles, 2 of cups)
Ace of cups, seven of pentacles, Judgement, the Hermit, three of pentacles, Queen of Cups also flew out.
So let's begin with the wands. We have Three, Eight and Ten of Wands. The wands tell a story about hard work and perseverance. here with the three of wands and eight of wands, it tells me that your pisces here is probably under a lot of stress. and ... I think this goes for you as well. I feel it definitely around the work and home life here. NP is very focused on their goals, and with the ten of wands, they are carrying a lot of responsibility on their shoulders. they see this as a good thing though. something they want. they had to work hard to get where they are and they love having it. but much like burdens it's tiresome and I'm sure they're just stressed out and want a break.
We should then go over to the swords here. because we have the six of swords. the six of swords is probably the biggest indicator of how they're feeling about everything in regards to what you have told me. this is the card of moving on. I see that they are trying to push what has happened past them. and I see with the Ace of Cups that there is going to be something new for the both of you coming down the road. we We can also see this with the Seven of Pentacles. the seven of pentacles is all about working and putting effort into things. in this case, relationships. there's going to be a change in the relationship. this can mean one of two things though. One, you both go your separate ways and you both work on yourselves, or two, you both come back to each other and work in a new, healed relationship.
so then, we have a ton of Major Arcana lol. We have the Hermit, Judgement and the High Priestess. we also have the queen of cups so don't let me forget about that.
so here's what I'm thinking lol. I think you two are going to end up reflecting each other. I have some other cards, and if you notice, there's also the queen of wands. I think NP is going to form into this queen of wands, and you are going to step into the queen of cups here. because I see this journey. this could also be reversed because you're a fire sign and she's water but like roll with me here. one of you is going to become more introspective. the Hermit is all about searching for inner truth and guidance. Judgement and the High Priestess is all about awakenings and trusting the inner guidance that you have. someone, is going to be stepping into their power and presenting themselves as the queen of cups. and I think that's going to help your situation a lot.
So then we have the overall energy. We have the Tower. this tells me that you two are probably going to come to a head when you two finally get to sit down and talk about this. if both sides are willing. I don't know why but Im hearing that maybe a third party is going to be involved with you hashing it out. and they could represent the tower energy but I think they're going to embody the King of Pentacles. this could also be the situation you two come together. something logical with both of yalls heads on straight.
we have the 6 of pentacles here too with the ace of pentacles so something new is coming for the both of you. one that is both generous and one that brings you both in a union that you two can work together -see the 2 of cups there as well ;) - with the hanged man and the chariot with the queen of wands, I'm thinking this is going to get a little... spicy lol
Like, I think you two are going to be a little rough around the edges at first. which is fair I mean, you both were kind of on different wave lengths and shit happened ya know? it's okay to be riled up and hurt over the past. but luckily this isn't going to be ending in a way that you both are hurt and sore about. this is going to be a mutual ending. something you both can agree on.
so now, I'm going to get into more of the oracle stuff and pendulums. I have a few questions set up but if you have any that you would like answered, feel free to let me know =)
Pendulum:
Is there a chance that you two will come back together?
yes -oh okay so I saw the wheel of fortune when I got this answer. this tells me that you two will be able to end the cycle of this situation and be able to move on into something more beautiful.
Will there be a third person involved to help?
yes
Is it someone you both know?
yes
Is there a chance for building a stronger connection?
yes. and a key message I got for this is to have patience, take some time to rest and “is it worth the fighting?’ which Im assuming is going to be when you two try to sort it out lol
Will the Pisces reach out first?
yes
Is it wise to make the first move now?
no. considering the top one here is a yes, I think it’s best to sit back and let this happen.

Step out of your comfort zone
time to stop obsessing over someone or something.
stand on your own two feet
balance spirituality and practicality
follow your intuition, it won’t let you down
The end of a tough cycle approaches
stop fearing the worst
A firey climax approaches
being assertive is good-- just don’t push it on to anyone.
I hope this helps if you need anything, like I said let me know. if you have any follow up questions I will be happppyyy to answer them. =)

The poll closed with 490 responses. Thank you to everyone who participated!
Please note that this is the results of the manga reader poll. Anime only watchers are suggested not to read if you do not wish to be spoiled about certain events! Anime only viewers, click here to view your poll results!
NOTE: Another week, a few more mess ups and overlooked things. Upon realizing that we are rushing ourselves a bit too much and the poll dropping in quality is the unfortunate side effect, we will be moving the poll to Tuesdays from this point forward. This will allow us more time to see what others are discussing, think up questions, make sure we’ve touched on all of the important points, and to proofread more thoroughly before publishing. Thank you for being patient with us throughout this whole process! We apologize for our mess ups over the last couple of weeks.
RATE THE EPISODE 478 Responses
Overall the episode got high rankings and positive reviews!
I loved it, just wish they had given the Grisha vs Frieda segment more time and fully animated it rather than show it in flashes and stills. Though it wouldn't surprise me if they do later when we get his full story.
It was awesome! I'm starting to enjoy this season more with each episode. I'm hyped for the action next episode.
the best episode so far
Once the uprising arc is done, this episode will definitely be included in my favorite episodes list.
I was skeptical at first of the changes they were making to Frieda's foreshadowing, but the sequencing of events in the episode made up for it! Everything flowed so smoothly, from Eren's memories to Historia's, introducing the concept of mindwipe immunity followed immediately by Kenny's old talk with his grandpa. Each point led right into the next.
This week's episode felt almost slow with the way it ended. I'm not complaining, although I feel the sting of all those missed moments that got cut off prior to this.
This episode was freaking awesome. I keep replaying the scene where Eren sees Grisha's memories. The whole sequence and the OST is amazing!!
When it comes to rating these last few eps, I keep second-guessing myself on how to rate them. On the one hand, they've been fairly faithful to the manga and the animation, as always, has been top notch. So in that aspect they are good and deserve a high rating. It's just that the Uprising arc is so incredibly dull to me, that I am also not exactly excited about these eps and probably will skip all of them on future rewatches. But the anime is not to blame for that. ¯\_㋡_/¯
ep of the season so far
WHICH OF THE FOLLOWING SCENES DID YOU ENJOY THE MOST? 485 Responses
Eren unlocking Grisha’s memories was the big moment of the episode, winning the majority vote. Followed closely is Historia unlocking her memories of Frieda, Rod’s retelling of Grisha’s attack and Kenny’s flashback to his talk with his grandpa.
I also enjoyed the Ackerman talk, it gives more significance to what’s to come in the future
OPENING SCENE WAS BOMB
I absolutely love Frieda! She was the greatest sister ever. Too bad she had to die so young. I liked her voice as well :) The scene with her and Historia symbolized peace, love and happiness, while the scenes in the crystal cave symbolized pain and sorrow. I liked that.
KENNYKENNYKENNYKENNYKENNY
Is it weird that I liked the Zacklay part more than the flashback? C:
My fav scene was when Mikasa and Levi were talking about Mikasa's past and their awaking of power
Really liked the focus on each character when Levi asked them if they were ready to get their hands dirty. They looked resolved.
The Ackertalk!!!!!!!!
ON A SCALE OF “I’D RATHER IT WAS DIFFERENT” TO “SAWANO IS A GENIUS!” HOW MUCH HAVE YOU BEEN ENJOYING THE SOUNDTRACK TO THE SEASON SO FAR? 482 Responses
As expected of Sawano! The majority of respondents are enjoying the music this season. A few think the picks could be better, however.
The OST in this season has been awesome.
To the music part: I haven't found a track that really stands out, I want something as good as youseebigttgirl
WHAT IS YOUR REACTION TO EREN’S MEMORY SEQUENCE? 477 Responses
The majority of respondents were overall pleased with the way that Eren’s flashes of the altercation in the cave went down. A few would rather it have been different.
Frieda was beautiful and that's all I care about
I love the way wit did Eren's eyes during the flashback sequence. Honestly it made me feel more like dead
I loved it, some amazing voice acting with Erens scream at the end
While the fast flashes made total sense to me as a narrative choice I would have personally liked it better if it was Slower
Great paths depiction, mindblowing OST, not biggest fan of how they presented goblin Eren in just two still images
Pretty awesome. I don't like how Frieda's titan looks however, I thought that the manga design gave off a far more divine and powerful aura than the anime one, which honestly just looks like a regular titan with different eyes.
The P A T H S visuals were beautiful but I feel like the flashbacks themselves could have been done better. The RIP Grisha scene was practically still images when it could have been one of the most visceral and intense moments in the series. Idk I just found the flashbacks themselves very underwhelming
openly sobbing
Eren’s shocked expression while seeing those memories/listening to rod talk makes me feel bad for him all over again, but WIT also gave a lot of shots of his abs and back muscles *-* like, idk if I wanna hug him or fuck him
could've been much better. kid Eren screaming after realizing he ate his dad was heartbreaking though
HOW DID YOU FEEL ABOUT THE MECHANICS OF ZACKLEY’S “ART”? 479 Responses
It goes without saying that most respondents were put off by Zackley’s torture device, although there’s a sizable amount who did find it amusing. Generally speaking, most fans aren’t happy about the scene being included overall.
AoT will end, but Art will last forever
I HATE THE SHIT MACHINE!!!!!!
I cant believe we got the shit machine! Art is still alive!
I feel kinda tired of the whole shitmachine stuff. What is so special about some old, fat, ugly, nude, sweating dude who was forced to drink own piss? Why so many fans is obsessed with it? The episode had so many great moments - but almost everything I'm actually hearing about it this dumb shitbitchmachine.
I still fail to see what that machine added to this part of the story....
HOW DADDY IS ERWIN’S NEW HAIRDO? 480 Responses
Although there were mixed responses, overall the fandom is digging the new hairdo. Many even think Commander Handsome is looking even more dashing than before! ;)
Can we get more scenes with Erwin being Commander Handsome?
Erwin looks much younger now on my opinion XD
OMG ERWIIIIIIIIIN SO HOT
GRISHA’S EYES WERE GLOWING GREEN BEFORE HE ATE FRIEDA, AND THEY STARTED GLOWING PURPLE AFTERWARDS. DO YOU THINK THIS HAS ANY MEANING? 481 Responses
The overwhelming majority believe that the glowing eyes do have significant meaning. We covered this concept in more detail a few questions down!
Erens attack Titans eyes glow green too, I think it's just for effects
Yes, Frieda was not tasty and Grisha's stomach hort a lot after eating her
I didn't even noticed XD But I'm not sure if it has any meaning
Super saiyan
Frieda's eyes were purple during her Titan transformation. Grisha's eyes changing to the same colour after he ate Frieda, meant that he gained the Founding Titan power, gained Frieda's memories and the memories of the previous Founding Titan holders.
It could hardly be a slip of the hand in the animation department. They did it for a reason
The purple is the same as Frieda's Titan so it's likely because he came in contact with a Titan with Royal Blood and that changed his Titan's eye color
it's his magical girl transformation
WHICH TITAN WORE THEIR CHEST HAIR BETTER? 478 Responses
This was a close one! But ultimately Grisha inched just a few percentage points above Zeke. The commentary also reflects this and, frankly, we are a bit concerned. Are you guys okay?
Gaston ain't got nothing on Grisha Titan's chest hair.
Grisha's titan can spank me
Titan Grisha can mount me anytime.
WHEN FRIEDA READS HISTORIA THE FAIRY TALE, THE “GOOD GIRL” CHARACTER IS NAMED KRISTA. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THIS ADDITION? 478 Responses
It was a close split between excitement over seeing (or rather, being reminded) how Historia got the name “Krista” for her persona and those who are questioning the validity of the name in the book. We also received plenty of snarky reminders that we overlooked the detail of this being mentioned in chapter 51. Perhaps it’s time for us to take a week off! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I love how they’re differentiating the Marleyan legend from the Eldian one
I thought I was supposed to be Ymir, but I think it’s a really interesting addition to how Historia got the name Krista.
Since we know Rod gave her the name Krista, it felt kinda irrelevant. It also somehow implies that Krista's personality is the result of what remained in Historia's head from Frieda's preaching which I don't think was necessary to justify at all. Historia could've chosen to be the kind of girl Krista is by herself.
I love how, as time passed and memories changes, Ymir Fritz became Krista Lenz. And so, both Ymir and Historia got named by someone else after the same person. I love it.
It's not really an addition since her name appeared in the manga (at the beginning of chapter 51 when Historia goes crazy)
It did make things pretty confusing. I think that the government could've entirely changed the story of Ymir and the titan's and renamed Ymir in the books, and that's why she is now called Christa.
On one hand I think it's appropriate because the Reiss family didn't want Historia to know the Eldian history, yet I think the specific name of Krista wasn't a great decision because as I remember it, Rod was the one who made Historia take on the name Krista, so to suggest that Historia chose it because of that story is inconsistent.
Historia did say Krista was “a girl from a book she read as a child” in chapter 51, but learning in chapter 86 that the girl is Ymir Fritz led some people to believe that, back then, Historia was referring only to the girl's personality and not her name. The anime just clarified that in Frieda's book she is indeed named Krista, perhaps suggesting the story has different versions in Marley/the world and Paradis.
IT’S CONFIRMED THAT GRISHA’S AND FRIEDA’S TITANS HAD GLOWING EYES, SIMILAR TO THE PURE TITANS THAT THE COORDINATE CONTROLLED, DO YOU THINK THIS RELATES TO EREN’S EYES GLOWING IN LIBERIO? 466 Responses
As reflected above, most respondents believe that the glowing eyes do bear significance. 41% of voters believe that it’s indicative of the power of the titan taking over its host, while 32% believe the significance is something else. 16% of voters think it’s simply just a cool aesthetic effect.
I don't understand anything any more
Woah I've not thought about that enough to give an answer!!
I have no fucking clue, this stuff is confusing.
I honestly just think those titans happen to have glowing eyes. Nothing more.
WHICH TRANSITION DID YOU LIKE BETTER? 479 Responses
70% loved the transition of Kenny looking into the knife and revealing his younger self.
I truly love Kenny <3
Kenny is beautiful and the transition from younger to older Kenny in the reflection of his knife was my absolute favorite part of the entire episode.
Kenny was a highlight in this episode once again, I especially loved the flashback scene with him and grandpa Ackerman talking about family history after Levi and Mikasa's Ackertalk. The transition back to Levi was really unsubtle, though.
WHICH PV SCENE ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO THE MOST? 482 Responses
Generally, the majority are most looking forward to the showdown between Squad Levi/Hange vs. the Interior MP Squad. About 31% of voters altogether are looking forward more to more Jaeger/Reiss focus, however!
Can I vote again for Hange is a BAMF?
i honestly don't care at all about the interior MP v.s squad levi fight. I just wanna get back to the reiss/jaeger action
Give me Levi yelling Hange's name or give me DEATH
can't wait for the next episode and the showdown!!!
ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS ON THE EPISODE?
Finally we arrived to my favorite part of this arc. Even though it doesn't have that much action as the other seasons, this is the part I love the most. Knowing how Eren got the Attack AND the Founding titans, Historia becoming the rightful queen of the walls, Levi's backstory, Kenny's dream and his friendship with Rod Reiss' brother, learning that there's a world outside of the walls by Keith Shadis; all of this until the fight against the collosal and armored titans back in Shignashina district and everybody discovering the sea.
Now I finally understand why Kenny killed so many MP officers. I used to believe he had done that for fun. Now I know he did that to protect his family. I really enjoyed the moments between him and his grandpa - it made me to feel how important the bloodline was for him.
I'm a bit disappointed that they made Frieda's titan hair black, I was hoping for it to be a lighter colour, and I preferred the lighter hair a bit more. But overall her titan form was pretty cool!
They left out the part where Kenny tells Rod he is looking for a bathroom because he has to go #2! ಠ_ಠ How could they skip that after they included the whole poop machine scene?! I also wasn’t sure how I felt about the girl being named Krista in the book being read to Historia. I thought that was supposed to be Ymir. Otherwise, the episode was superb.
Erwin is my husband and I love it when he goes into Commander Mode™. Also so not ready for more information about Levi’s childhood, and yet also I need to see Little Levi™ at the same time
FRIEDA WAS GREAT
Now that two big plot points are over (the overthrowing of the government and Grisha’s deed) and another one is under way, I can say this season is so underwhelming compared to the manga. There is no suspense, no feeling of satisfaction, no tension, because they cut too many parts in the beginning that hinted at future events (eren’s experiments for examples) and simplified characters’ moral struggles that i think are understandable only to us manga readers because “we know”. I think, for a story (the one of uprising) that relied on suspense so much, this lighting-fast, confusing pace just made every victory totally underwhelming. I’m left with a feeling of “oh...okay” and i am hating it because the Uprising Arc is my favorite manga Arc.
With this episode I'm back to being sad about how coldly Erwin is portrayed again, but I guess that is just the way it's going to be. I don't think anyone can be as successful of a leader as Erwin has been with such a cold and uncaring facade, so I'm just going to agree to disagree with Isayama and WIT how a character like Erwin should be portrayed. The only positive about the anime is how Erwin's developing depression is really hammered home in this and the previous episode. From the manga it was quite unclear to me how all that had happened, but now I can see the progression very clearly starting from Erwin's little talk with Zackley the Creepy Artist and continuing with Pixis' merciless opinion of Erwin and his gamble.
Yeah for all the flashbaCks! And omg Frieda!! I love her sooo much! I was looking forward to see her in this episode and I'm not disappointed at all! I just wanted to hug her and little Historia! ;-;
THOUGHTS ON EPISODE 5:
104th celebrating their freedom was dope
I really loved this episode because Erwin had his chance to shine for once. I especially loved the foreshadowing of what a huge mistake they might have just made with the coup d'état. And I loved seeing my second favourite commander, Nile, as well! He's been growing on me for a longer while now, but the anime is really reminding me how Nile has always been a sensible but kind person.
Episode was ok. The cinematography of the episode was rather lacking at points and without some of the conversations with Nile and Pixis, the confrontation is somewhat oversimplified.
The conversation between Erwin and Zackley broke my heart. Implying the two would have anything in common is outrageous, and Erwin's reaction to the comparison is the proof of it. Erwin was so human and vulnerable in that moment that I thought finally they did justice to his character.
EREN'S ABS WILL NEVER BE GOOD ENOUGH TO REPLACE ERWIN'S AND LEVI'S ABS!!! THAT'S THE WORST BETRAYAL EVER, WIT!!!!!
I like that there is more and more dialogue and information during the recent episodes!
i thought it was good. at the time i was sad the "do you remember your father's sin" reveal wasn't the cliffhanger but since it was the opening for this episode and it was amazing in my opinion i have no problems.
Eren is hot
Erwin=Daddy
That cliffhanger with Historia was great! I wonder if they'll be able to replicate the one in the manga where it looks like she's about to inject herself. It'll be disappointing if they don't.
The Hange monologue at the end, however, with Levi's input was really weird and it didn't make much sense to me how they could infer so many ""clues"" about the truth and the Reiss family from what Hange was telling. The same is true about Armin's sudden but oh so convenient musings about how Eren inherited his titan powers. It was clear foreshadowing, but really badly executed.
i was waiting for this question on ep 5 poll, thnks! Well my thought were "there's no way they'll animate the shit machine" and "I WANT MOAR LEVI"

Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi: book review
Okay guys I have so much to say about this amazing novel.
NOn Spoiler:
Children of Blood and Bone is an amazing novel that follows 3 perspectives. One of a princess, a prince, and the daughter of a powerful, magical Reaper. The book follows Zélie Adebola, a daughter of a once powerful Reaper- a person who contains death magic. In this amazing fantasy world magic is gone but Zélie remembers the days when magic and the maji (the magic wielders blessed by the gods) flourished. Under the rule of a ruthless king, the maji were hunted and killed off, leaving the land of Orisha without magic. But when a chance to bring magic back is presented to Zélie, she knows she must succeed no matter what the cost to free her people from the tyranny of the monarchy and a world that has come to hate and fear her kind. Zélie teams up with a runaway princess and other awesome characters to outwit the evil king and the heir prince to fulfill her quest of bringing magic back to the world and free her people. But along the way Zélie faces unimaginable obstacles and tragedies as she tries to control her own powers and understand the world she lives in, and if her duty is stronger than her feelings for an enemy. IF you enjoy Black Panther or Avatar the Last Air Bender, this book is like a lovely mash of the two with so many other fantastical elements thrown in, making it unique and such an adventure of a read.
SPOILERS AHEAD:
Alright, let’s get into this. !!!
This book was so freaking good, I just want to go on and on about it! It has everything I love about fantasy: giant animals people ride, super awesome magical powers, a badass female protagonist and other super awesome cast of characters we love to hate and hate to love, and an amazing quest that must be fulfilled. The whole imagery of the world is GORGEOUS! Like, the diviners having white hair and some have light colored eyes that contrast with their dark skin is so pretty. And the food clothing descriptions just make me drool. Like this world is a combination of Black Panther and Avatar the Last Air Bender. Two of my favorite things combined!! Yessss Pleassse!!!!
For the girls:
Adeyemi does such an amazing job of bringing Zélie to life from the very first page. We learn that Zélie is a stubborn, loyal girl who loves her family and friends above anything else. What I love about Zélie’s character is that she is strong and independent before her magic is even awakened. Her skill with her staff and knowledge of the gods and magic gives her an edge that only allows her to become even more powerful with her magic. Zélie’s character also does have obvious faults that constantly work against her, such as her stubbornness and her smart mouth. But these faults all stem from a deep love for her people and a sense of duty and justice, which makes her faults more like strengths. She refuses to stay silent and passive when her people are beaten and broken, like when she ran after her mother after she was pulled from their home and hung in the tree, or when she buys water at the well and offers it to some of the diviners and laborers in the stocks because they can’t even afford a sip of water.
I also enjoyed the relationship development between Zélie and Amari. At first Zélie detests Amari for being the princess and daughter of the tyrant king, but eventually Zélie begins to realize that even the royal princess has suffered the tyranny of her father and that she shouldn’t judge Amari for her family. Eventually, both girls begin to trust and rely on one another and become close friends. Amari is the first person Zélie tells after her magic disappears. And Amari doesn’t get angry or upset like her brother, Tzain, usually does when Zélie withholds information. Amari does become slightly worried, but she puts her faith in Zélie and tells her that even so, they must try anyways, because Amari’s faith in Zélie never wavers once. THey are such a badass pair of women together!!!!! I really appreciated Adeyemi making Amari’s character not a feeble princess who only has her wit to help her, but rather she made Amari a skilled fighter with a gentle side. Unlike Zélie, who’s instinct is to jump in head first, Amari is more levelheaded and quiet and adds a nice balance to their trio.
Now for the boys:
I liked Tzain’s character because he definitely feels like the male version of Zélie. Throughout most of the novel Tzain’s character faults Zélie ‘s character for not thinking about her actions and for always putting those she loves in danger. But Tzain isn’t much more level headed than Zélie. He is quick to jump in and fight or defend those he loves, just like Zélie, only he doesn’t have the pressure of being a diviner like his sister does. This world really delves into how prejudices shape the view of certain people, and Zélie is looked down on for being a female and a diviner. I think having Tzain’s character with Zélie throughout the novel was important for Zélie because she has already lost the rest of her family and friends, so her brother gives her strength and something to fight for. BUut I didn’t like how he was so quick to judge Zélie for her feelings for Inan, when he himself had feelings for Amari, or when he leaves the camp because he is so angry at Zélie for kissing Inan and then the soldiers attack and Zélie is left alone because Amari runs after Tzain. It’s understandable for Tzain to not like Inan, but I didn’t like how quickly he gave up on her sister. But after Zélie is captured and tortured, I think Tzain knows he was wrong and his character grows to see that loving people means supporting them even when we’re angry. Plus I was all for Amari and Tzain together, because like I said before, she adds a nice balance to his hot headedness.
Now Idk how to even start with Inan. I think aftter wading through so many mixed feelings for the royal prince, I mostly pity him. Inan was raised to become the king one day, and his whole life has been filled with a hatred for magic and the maji. He has been taught to choose his duty over all else and this is what makes him a weak and dangerous character, especially to Zélie. At the beginning of the novel we have hope that Inan will realize he is on the wrong side and he will use his power to do good and join Zélie on her quest. Because as a new maji himself, Inan is forced to experience the life of a magic wielder and to feel the fear so many of his subjects felt when they were hunted down and killed. Inan begins to see the other side of the story as Zélie shares her memories with him and he feels all her pain and rage. Inan begins to understand the injustice and tyranny his father has subjected the maji and diviners to. And our hope for him to change only grows with his understanding. But it’s when he is given a choice, to choose Zélie and help her free her people or help his father destroy magic for good, that we see the truth and watch as he draws a line in the sand. Even after seeing and feeling everything, after being a maji himself, Inan still chooses to help his father destroy magic because he is afraid and doesn’t understand. It was at the point when he betrays Zélie at the temple when I decided Zélie deserved a better love interest. We almost can’t fault Inan for making his choices because he’s predictable. Even as a child he was willing to hurt those he loves, like when he cut Amari’s back open with a sword. Amari defied her father as a child and an adult, but Inan has always followed his father’s orders and this makes him weak. I pity his character because in his heart he thinks he’s doing what’s right, but he only hurts everyone in the process and his own father turns on him in the end. Inan also makes me sad. He has been raised in such a hateful and prejudice environment that he was almost doomed from the start. Amari had the benefit of being defiant since a child, and she also had her maid Binta, a diviner, to help her gain perspective. But Inan never had anything like that. He is the heir prince, so he felt the full force from their father. But I haven’t given up on Inan. Although I loathe the choices he made at the end of the novel, I understand why he made them. Fear is a powerful force, and of all the characters in the novel, Inan is the most afraid, even when he has never experienced life like the other diviners. I’m not sure what Inan will do in the second novel, or if he even survives, but I hope he overcomes his fear and finally becomes the great ruler he can be, and succeeds in uniting the maji and Orishians when his father and grandfather both failed.
Okayy I know this was super long, and I have so many more thoughts, like how I love Zélie’s giant lionaire, Nailah, or mama Agba’s amazing staff fighting and her Seer powers! But all I can really say is that this novel was amazing! Tomi Adeyemi has created a one of a kind fantasy world that combines African mythology, culture and lore, making it super unique in the YA universe. I highly recommend this book for anyone wanting a super epic read. I will be avidly awaiting the next installment! Also I’m SUPER EXCITED THAT ITS BECOMING A MOVIE! FOX will be adapting the novel into a film and you can bet my little butt will be in one of those theater seats when it comes out. !!!!!!!!!!!

Film!verse Edition
BASIC.
FULL NAME. John Constantine NICKNAME. none mentioned BIRTHDAY. May 10 (assuming the Constantine movie takes place in the present, regardless of the film’s year of release, having been referred in age as his mid-thirties, he’d have been born in the early 80s) ETHNIC GROUP. Mixed race (is that the right term these days?), undisclosed in movie, the brief glimpse of his parents in the movie showed nothing of their actual appearances. So I’m defaulting to Keanu’s actual ethnic mix of Chinese-Native Hawaiian-European Caucasian ancestry. NATIONALITY. American LANGUAGE. English, Latin, various dead/magical/infernal languages SEXUAL ORIENTATION. Bisexual RELATIONSHIP STATUS. Verse/continuity dependent CLASS. middle class HOME TOWN / AREA. Los Angeles, California (prolly a suburb outside of it) CURRENT HOME. Los Angeles, California (but like the original incarnation, he travels quite a bit) PROFESSION. Previously a con artist and artifact dealer as well as an exorcist/magician, but has since become a professional investigator, primarily focused on unusual and occult based cases, though not above tackling the mundane.
PHYSICAL.
HAIR. Black (but like a soft black with a brown undertone rather than blue or violet) EYES. Deep brown, almost black, somewhat large but may seem smaller and more narrow due to their hooded, somewhat sleepy, sensuous appearance or when he’s annoyed they may have a pinched, strained appearance NOSE. A bit wide, straight, prominent but not...idek, not in an unattractive way. Look i’m bad at describing noses XD; FACE. Triangular, very fine, on the narrow side LIPS. Wide mouth, full lower lip, upper is somewhat thin, but well shaped, slightly lined at the corners from smoking and frowning too much COMPLEXION. a noticeably warm tone, very smooth to the point that a neutral expression may appear stone-like and somewhat eerie BLEMISHES. none, is prolly that asshole that’s never had pimple in his life SCARS. Vertical scarring at both wrists from suicide attempt as teen
TATTOOS. The Alchemical Red King sigil in halves on either forearm. HEIGHT. 6′1 (185 cm) WEIGHT: 165lbs (75kg) BUILD. Slender build, broad shoulders, noticeably toned (very similar to swimmer’s musculature), but not very defined. Torso is a bit of straight line to narrow hips. ALLERGIES. bullshit USUAL HAIR STYLE. short but not shaved. He’s got a full head of hair, very thick and often somewhat of a mess, a bit longer in the front USUAL CLOTHING. Black suit, long black trench coat, implied to have expensive taste (”That was a $200 shirt, asshole.”)
PSYCHOLOGY.
FEAR. Hell, mostly, as in ending up there when he’s dead. Legit demons passing into the mortal plane ASPIRATION. Well -- It was to “buy his way into heaven”, but now that he’s got a new lease of life, I’m not really sure what his direction will be. The film left off on an optimistic note, but I have a hard time believing it to be a permanent change. There’s a very real possibility that he could go right back off the rails like he always does. See, cos even in the comic, John has had plenty of chances to start clean and turn his life around, but he never really does. Given that, despite having a different background and being apparently a bit more of a serious and motivated man, there’s little discernible difference between comic! and film!John’s personalities. So yeah, maybe his experience and exoneration from his suicide’s infernal prison sentence did change him for the better but idk. I’m skeptical. POSITIVE TRAITS. He’s very determined and driven. When he wants something,it’s hard to deter him. Of course he’s very compassionate and has a large capacity for love and forgiveness. My opinion is out on him being a truly spiritual man, but he can put his trust in the unknown and faith when it truly matters. NEGATIVE TRAITS. Apathy and some depressive tendencies. He can be very cold and distant at times. I don’t think he necessarily is reacting to anything, just that he’s used to being control at all times and that includes his emotions. VICE HABIT. Smoking, drinking, Cassidy FAITH. It’s complicated GHOSTS? Yeah, I figure he sees them too, honestly AFTERLIFE? He can’t help but to believe given he’s been to Hell and saw Heaven, in addition to knowing about the influences of angels and demons in the world. REINCARNATION? No ALIENS? Maybe? Although I suppose yes with his being part of the DCU..... POLITICAL ALIGNMENT. Nah, too busy dealing with divine/infernal politics to deal with the mortal lot ECONOMIC PREFERENCE. Idk, he likes money SOCIOPOLITICAL POSITION. ????? EDUCATION LEVEL. Uncertain. Unlike Classic!John, his upbringing is largely a mystery. All we know is that his parents had him undergo shock treatment (as well as possibly institutionalized when they found out about his visions. I imagine he was also hospitalized after his suicide attempt. Not sure if he ever finished school with all that going on. I have the feeling John was just such a mess by that point that after he was released (possibly he was held there until he was 18), he just went off on his own and possibly off the rails as well.
FAMILY.
FATHER. undisclosed, presumably still alive. MOTHER. undisclosed, presumably still alive. SIBLINGS. none EXTENDED FAMILY. none, he tends to keep to himself. NAME MEANING. John: Jehovah has been Gracious/Shown Favour (lmao) Constantine: Constant, steadfast, generally referred to as “The Constant One”
HISTORICAL CONNECTION. related, if perhaps distantly, to Constantine the Great on his father’s side (head canon)
FAVOURITES.
BOOKS. Reads a lot of true crime, occult and magic theory, mostly. Sometimes reads urban fantasy for a laugh or other paranormal fiction
MUSIC. Maybe it’s the darker hair and eyes and gloomier disposition, but I like to think that rather than getting in on the punk scene, he more slotted in with the Goths of the day.
DEITY. he really doesn’t like them as a general rule
HOLIDAY. nah
MONTH.*shrugs*
SEASON. Fall
PLACE. I don’t he puts a lot of importance on location. Same shit different place you know?
WEATHER. cool
SOUND. city noises
SCENT. sage, sandelwood, silk, tea, coffee, toast
TASTE. smoke, skin, clove
FEEL. stillness, contentment, release, submission
ANIMAL. none really
NUMBER. honestly, idk numerology
COLOUR. warm tones, always end up associating him with fire regardless of incarnation
EXTRA.
TALENTS. He can pick a lock, accurately shoot a gun, throw a punch, high artistic skill from years of drawing sigils and circles. He designed his own tattoo. Very flexible, practices yoga, think on his feet, and that may not seem like much but it absolutely counts in John’s case. He’s extraordinary in a crisis TURN ONS. Being dominated, loyalty, danger. Thing is he’s very reserved in his day to day life, a bit cold, and tends to use sex as a release of control TURN OFFS. Hmm...though a bit kinkier than the original incarnation, I still don’t think he’s real into hard core kink. HOBBIES. Collecting unique religious and occult artifacts, either by his own hand or via someone else, reading, likes bad movies, drinking TROPES. supernatural detective, jaded spiritualist AESTHETICS. Neon sighs on desolate streets, smoke, dark suits, occult and sacred symbols, old churches, lonely nights
FC INFO.
MAIN FC. Keanu Reeves ALT FC. I could cap the tie in comic OLDER FC. N/A YOUNGER FC. N/A VOICE CLAIM. Keanu Reeves

In ref to last OC ask thing: Gimme all of L! (Am also willing to take questions in return)
Hope you were expecting one of my patented Way Too Much Thought Was Put Into This response to most things because you’re getting it, kid!
L. For the Writer/Owner
How have your characters changed since you created them?
Most of them have changed a lot, yeah.
Pumpkin was originally a pacifist. A glass canon who was afraid of everything and was very much not into the idea of shooting alien with guns. (She was also two inches taller.) Now she’s a pvp monstah.
Desh is... more of a person, less of a concept. She’s become a lot more vocal to me and a lot less vocal to other characters about how she really feels. Mostly bc in her mind they obviously don’t care. (Seriously, she will 20gp to anyone who can tell her the name of her brother and/or the country they were born in. WITHOUT the player checking any of the reference I posted.) Desh started off pretty happy and innocent and now she’s... not. She’s scared and she’s hurt and she’s honestly pretty broken and just pretending to be her “normal self” because that’s what she thinks she’s expected to be. But honestly she’d be in Serious Desh mode more often right now if she thought she could get away with it. And it honestly breaks my heart.
Keth started off as my da:i dalish inquisitor and in her current incarnation she’s a giant four armed alien. Don’t ask.
What do you consider the biggest themes in your character, if any?
Family. Family, especially found family, is very important to all my OCs. Loss is another big one. Betrayal and loss, especially of people I care deeply about and I often use them to carve out my OCs because I know it works.
Honestly this says a lot more about me than them.
Did you create the character to be like yourself, did they end up being like yourself, or are they very different from you?
I never want to make characters like myself. Each of my characters represent an aspect of me, but I don’t want them to be me.
Desh has a lot of my curiosity and love of lore. You try telling me she’s not a massive dork, okay? She also has a casual spirituality that I don’t think gets played up enough. She’s not into ceremony or church going (not that that would have even been legal at any point in her life), but she believes in a more personal god that she can have casual conversations with (mostly in prayer, occasionally in person). It’s not lack of reverence, it’s just how she does things. I have a lot of trouble trying to balance faith with traditional institutions and I’ve always had the idea that whatever divine power runs the universe, they’re something I’m meant to be casual with who doesn’t want pomp and circumstance. Just a casual “hey today was shit, but I had a killer mojito at a bar before I forget that my antidepressants have absolutely killed my tolerance. But my friend told me they’d pick up the tab if I ate a whole lime so thanks for limes.”
Pumpkin holds a special place in my heart. She holds a lot of my fire (partially literally. Fire is her Thing™.) and passion and I can’t think of her without overwhelming fondness. Even when I am being awful to her for rp purposes. She means a lot to me. She was originally supposed to be an innocent glass canon who reflected a lot of my feelings of inadequacy as a player and as a person. But playing solo pvp as her and then into Destiny’s Rise of Iron expansion she kicked ass! I wasn’t the team liability anymore, I was fucking top chart! I was fire! It was also a very hard and long grind to get her completely maxed out, but I got it. The first one in the playing group to be 40:400 and I honestly started crying when that happened. And honestly I could go on for days as to why she matters to me and what aspects of myself she holds for me.
Keth is... complicated. She was an oc I made when I was first figuring myself out so she was really fun to be like so maybe I like girls??? Here’s a girl I made who kisses other girls a ton. This is really fun. (Girls are great, but turns out I’m aro-ace.)
Cel has never been played with before, so idk about them.
Yasha gives me an excuse to brush up on my Russian.
Tierney got all my charisma and none of my morals.
Would you hang out with your OC if you could?
Desh. Girl’s got a bottomless tankard of mimosas and whiskey and would honestly listen to all the shit I’ve been going through lately and SHE CAN FINALLY TALK TO SOMEONE ABOUT HER FUCKING BACKSTORY BECAUSE I CARE ABOUT IT A LOT AND IT’S ALMOST NEVER RELEVANT OTHER THAN TO ADD TRAUMA BC YEAH THE CITY’S ON FIRE, THAT’S UPSETTING FOR MOST PEOPLE, BUT FLASHBACK INDUCING FOR HER! THAT GIRL HAS LAYERS OF PTSD! AND SOME OF IT I DIDN’T EVEN INTENTIONALLY GIVE HER!
Which OC do you think is the most decent morally or behaviorally? AKA, which is supposed to a “good guy”?
Desh. Surprise, right? She might be chaotic but she actually does have a moral code, mostly built from her own life experience and what she sees as good/bad. The main tenants are:
THE SUBJUGATION OF OTHER INTELLIGENT BEINGS IS FUCKING UNFORGIVABLE
Those who knowingly harm children don’t deserve mercy.
Be true in all actions except for when being dishonest protects others or avoids unnecessary conflict. But above all, be true to yourself. You’re all you have in the end.
Family is important above all, in bond more so than blood.
Killing is frowned upon but straight up murder is out of the question
Civilians are not to be harmed ever
DON’T MAKE ANY KIND OF DEAL WITH ANY KIND OF EVIL OUTSIDER.
Which OC do you think is the worst morally or behaviorally? AKA, which is supposed to be a “bad guy”?
Tesni. She’s a 6′6″ Rattataki bounty hunter/force adept I used to rp with a former friend of mine. His OC was a Knight of Ren and she was sort of contracted as his handler. She’s deaf and uses the force as a sort of replacement sense to hearing??? Also she always wears her helmet during meetings and stuff bc the HUD has subtitles. But she is very much not a good person at all ever. Huge fan of casual murder and going out of her way to be an asshole.
Which OC do you think is the most attractive?
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck
Either Keth (because I designed her “normal” au aesthetic and look with “what do I find attractive?” in mind) or Tierney (because it’s her job)
What’s the longest you’ve had an OC for?
And still use? Maybe five years. Characters get recycled but no one has yet to stay super long.
How did you come up with your OC?
uuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh which one?
Keth - da:i character I liked enough so i decided to turn into a multiputpose oc for EVERYTHING
Pumpkin - the character I was playing in Destiny. I spent a long time in the character creator and I was playing with other people and decided “I like this kid. She needs a story.”
Tesni - asshole I used to be friends with was on a star wars kick and a group of bad guys for rp
Desh - Pathfnder
Cel - D&D
Yasha - Dusk City Outlaws
Tierney - Dusk City Outlaws
