it frankly pisses me off that what is essentially “rapists and abusers should be depicted as monstrous caricatures because humanizing them is inappropriate” is considered a very moral and enlightened position to have on art by so many people. a rapist can feel pain, have moments of vulnerability, be amiable and charming, express remorse and compassion at times, be a victim themselves, and so on in real life. they are even capable of doing good things. they can have different sides to them and have individuals in their lives that they are kind to or have a decent relationship with. they will be a human being, and that fact encompasses a lot. conflating that with the claim that they are entitled to and deserve forgiveness or absolution is an issue. nurturing a mindset that believes they need to be one note and uncomplicated to be a correct and tasteful depiction of a rapist inadvertently falls in line with the logic of “how could they have possibly raped you? they are so normal and kind to me. they did all these good things here and there.” ok that doesn’t change that they are a rapist.

a more silly route of a hc i have is that Fox’s men have a complicated relationship with him that doesn’t seem complicated to them. Yes, they’re loyal to an unhealthy and concerning degree, & yes, they routinely try to jump him, & sure, MAYBE they start physical fights with him just to keep him on his toes in the case of an actual mutiny (perpetually scheduled in an hour), & so what if they frame others for crimes he committed and harass people in his name while betting on if he’ll die that week? they just tell everyone to mind their own business, or call people stupid for thinking it’s complex. Stone is an outlier (never actually wants people hurt or dead), but doesn’t actually do anything to prevent either side from acting like this, so he’s the brother to vent/explain evil plots to.

Was going to make a post about how when Swan is counting off all the Warriors in Woodlawn Cemetery she doesn't do it in roll call order but she does put Ajax and Rembrandt right next to each other, which would indicate theyre standing near one another (when u are obsessed with a ship which is not actually real u gotta take what u can get) but I went back in the lyrics and Swan actually DOES say their names in roll call order BUT she swaps herself for Cleon. Diabolical. This fucking album man.

okay guys im seriosuly really confused and want an answer. genuinely What is a kin. is it like a character you really really relate to. is it some sort of "i identify as/along the lines of this character" ordeal (like either due to being a system alter/having a dissociative disorder/something else or just because why the hell not). or like. "i just really like this guy a lot so they go on the kin list". or like? "i relate to moments they have but not them entirely"?? guys please. i might have asked this before but my memory is dogshit. pleaseee give me a genuine answer.
