Today on a new episode of "this started as an anatomy study but then it got out of hand"

Also, at one point I had been painting for like 3 hours, and was unhappy with the results so I erased everything, and redid it in a different style in like, an hour, and was much MUCH better

The Harmon Story Circle. This is just a streamlined version of Joseph Campbell’s Monomyth aka The Hero’s Journey.

The basic premise is that there the same story structure for every (European) story, particularly Ancient Greek ones. This later shows up in other European stories. It also appears in other cultural stories, but that was never really the focus.

This story structure is often taught in American schools as a way to design heroic stories.

But as a templates for many myths, hence monomyth, it’s awfully specific.

Dan Harmon, creator of Community and Rick & Morty, popularized a streamlined version. The Story Circle works for any protagonist (not just heroes) and can even be used for mundane stories (not just adventures).

After seeing post about it all the time I finally looked into mbti, and I'm glad I did! I'm a INFJ, and I've found it very insightful. Just thought you'd like to hear that. :3

Yay INFJs! I think when people use it how it’s intended, mbti can be really helpful in understanding both yourself and other people. Like understanding (at least theoretically) how Sensors process information was super eye-opening for me.

The Best Art Resource Blog

A blog that ,in my humble opinion, has the best compilation of art resources and useful writing tools on tumblr. 

Ibelievepracticemakesperfect is my favorite art blog here on Tumblr, not counting my own. I used to follow a good 30 or 40 blogs dedicated to posting resources for art and writing back when I still had a real personal, but IBPMP really stood out among the rest. For one, it didn't really have art, advice or anything of the sort in it's name. Which means that it took a while before I found it. Perhaps it's unique charm is what makes it such a glorious treasure trove of information. It really inspired me how the owner wasn't afraid to reblog other topics that were of great interest and even reblogged their own art from time to time.

As a result, it felt less like just a hole of tools and more like an actual genuine blog with a person behind it. In fact, my reasons for making this blog was largely inspired by all the frequent exciting updates from ibelievepracticemakesperfect. I believe my favorite part about this blog is it's name. I can't help but smile when I read the title, it's a constant reassurance to myself as both an artist and a writer.

It's really a wonderful place. Go check them out now!
