My 1989 tour experience (Ziggo Dome, Amsterdam, June 21st)

So this is for iansweetfacegallagher who asked me what the taylorswift show last night was like, and I guess for anyone else who cares. :P Ohhhh my God I don’t even know where to start. It was so amazing!!! I convinced my bff lovesbitch to come with me way back when 1989 had just come out and I was obsessed with it, and luckily she agreed to come with me. I registered for the taylorswift.com pre-sale and I kept pulling up really crappy seats, but I just kept on refreshing the page religiously for like half an hour and then two seats in section E came up (row 29, so about halfway through E, the two seats furthest away) so I bought them immediately. I wasn’t sure what to expect because I didn’t know how many seats there would be in each row, but when we got there last night it turned out there were only 7 seats in each row so basically there were only 5 seats between us and the catwalk! So I couldn’t have done better if I tried. 💗

Just to get this out of the way first: I FELT SO OLD. Sooo many teenagers. Teenagers EVERYWHERE. Which isn’t a problem, I was expecting that, but when all of the reviews that come out the next day basically all talk about the show as if there were ONLY screaming teenage girls there and it was basically like, ONLY meant for them as if ONLY they should like Taylor, it makes you feel a bit odd. I really shouldn’t have to feel ancient at 28, especially because Taylor herself is 25. Plus, it’s kind of doing her a disservice as an artist? 

ANYWAY. That really didn’t ruin our night at all- we basically sang along to every single song along with everyone else and ooh’ed and ahh’ed at the pretty lights from the bracelets and peoples’ signs and cheered for her and it was just like one giant dance party. She’s SO good live and she’s SUCH a good entertainer and she’s SO fun and charming that you basically just want to spend way more time in her presence than you actually get to. She played for two hours straight so she gave us more than enough but I was still really sad to see her go at the end, I didn’t want her to leave! It was so surreal to be there and see her there on stage because I’ve been reading so much about her online over the past 8+ months and seeing so many pictures and videos and then she was there and she was real and human and tangible and so close and... yeah. I’m not a big pop person, or a big pop concert person, and I don’t fangirl over that many celebrities but for some reason I just reallllly reallllly like her? Yeah. 

 The crowd was extremely loud (so much screaming! so painful! but I’m sure I contributed to it too) but also really lovely and loving and supportive and everyone was singing along (and pretty in tune, too!) and cheering her on and clapping to the beat on one of the songs and jumping and dancing. But then when she played You Are In Love everyone was still singing along but really quietly so you could hear her really well (she sounded amazing) and we all echoed “silence” and “way home” and “lights out” back to her and it was magical. And I know all of her speeches are rehearsed and they’re kind of generally the same thing for every show but for some reason her speech before Clean was really emotionally touching to me even though I’d seen parts of it written out on tumblr beforehand. Someone (not me) recorded it and put it up on youtube here! 

The moving catwalk thing was amazing to witness IRL (she was basically right above me at some point!) and the dancers were fantastic (even though I didn’t pay them as much attention as I should have because I was pretty much focused on Taylor) and her vocals were on point (aside from the first few songs where her voice sounded a little chipmunk-y but they fixed that) and the staging and outfits and fireworks and confetti and everything were perfect. Alllllso, on a more shallow note, she’s gorgeous IRL and mega hot and also, all the people on the internet who are saying she’s too skinny based solely on photos are insane. 

I’d love to share some of my photos and videos, I got some really good ones, but I’m not doing it on tumblr/youtube because I don’t feel like getting any of my accounts suspended.
