who knew that the song that inspired me for this piece of writing would, two years later, be one of my surprise songs at the eras tour?

you are in love | peter parker

summary: you're in love with peter, your best friend.

word count: 1.6k

notes: no use of y/n, fem!reader (might be able to read it as gn!reader), english is not my first language so there might be some mistakes

Parties were not your thing but Harry had invited you and Peter to a party he was throwing in his huge mansion, you protested but he said “everyone was coming” so you had to as well.

You and Peter had been sitting in the living room on the leather couches since you came in and you were still drinking your first beer of the night, even though you’d been at the party for a few hours. After a while, Harry joined you.

He and Peter had been talking for hours but you hadn’t been listening. Suddenly Peter looked over at you. The room was dark, but you could see the look of adoration in the dark. No one else noticed, it was meant just for you. You wanted him to keep looking at you like that forever but time moved too fast and suddenly he stood up, sticking out his hand for you to take. You hadn’t even realized his conversation with Harry had ended. You knew his hand was a silent invitation to leave the party and go to his place.

You took his hand and he guided you through the group of dancing people, making sure he didn’t drop your hand. It’s a good thing he was holding your hand, you kept replaying that look of adoration that he gave you mere moments ago in your head and weren’t looking where you guys were going.

He took his coat and yours from the rack and handed it to you. You put on your coat while he buttoned his up. When he opened the door you immediately felt the cold November air. You pulled him closer, for warmth, by his arm, he didn’t protest. You walked in a comfortable silence until Peter made a light-hearted joke about the people at the party. You giggled at his silly joke. When you looked up at his face, he had that look of adoration on his face again, the one you kept replaying in your head minutes earlier.

When you reached your car, he opened your door for you and closed it afterward, walking over to the driver's seat. “Coffee?” he asked. You chuckled, “Peter, it’s midnight.” You knew if you had coffee now you wouldn’t be able to sleep. Plus, was there anything that served coffee open anymore?

Once Peter had parked the car in his parking spot in front of his apartment building, with your coffees, you undid your seatbelt and opened the car door, getting out of the car. You met Peter at the front of the car and stopped when you were standing next to each other. He looks down at your chest, where your necklace, that he gave you, rests. The moonlight reflects on it. He looks back into your eyes and says: “Look up.” You look up, confused, and you see that it’s a clear night, with no clouds. You can see the stars, the moon and probably some planets. You smile softly. Suddenly you feel something touch your shoulder. It’s Peter’s shoulder lightly brushing yours while he looks up at the sky as well. One touch but you felt enough.

He opens the door to his apartment for you and you walk inside, silently thanking him. It’s silent and the lights are out. You turn around to look at Peter and he’s unbuttoning his coat. Now you’re the one with a look of adoration on your face. You hear it, in the silence. You see it, with the lights out. You are in love with your best friend.

The next morning you wake up to the smell of burnt toast. You quickly get up and jog downstairs, hoping Peter didn’t burn his apartment down.

When you get to the kitchen he’s quickly unplugging the toaster. He turns around to look at you with a bashful look on his face. He clears his throat when you cross your arms. “Hey…Why are you awake? It’s Sunday, you could’ve slept in…” he says awkwardly while scratching the back of his neck with a small smile on his beautiful face.

“Maybe because it smelt like you were burning the apartment down?” you say. “Ah, yes about that…” You just shake your head before he can finish his sentence. “Why don’t you quickly go to the bakery around the corner, I’m sure they still have some bread.” He nods and grabs his jacket. Without fully putting it on he’s out the door. You sigh and shake your head once more with a small smile on your face.

You walk into his room, going straight for his closet. This wasn’t unusual. You had slept over at Peter’s plenty of time, in the guest room of course. You and Peter were nothing more than friends, best friends. Nothing more… You open his closet, looking for one of his shirts to put on.

Once you find one you like, a t-shirt that reaches just above your knees with a photo of Spider-Man on it, you walk out of his room, closing the door behind you. When you get back to the kitchen you start setting the table. Two plates, two knives, and two glasses that you fill with orange juice.

After a few more minutes Peter walks back in and holds up a bag filled with fresh foods from the bakery. You sit down at the table and dive in.

After breakfast, Peter crashes on the couch while you pick out a movie to watch. You look through his collection of DVD’s and when you stand up and turn around he’s suddenly standing behind you. “Peter?” you ask. He takes another step closer to you, he’s close enough now that when you look up, your lips would be touching. Not an appropriate distance for best friends. And at that moment, for once, you let go of your fears and your ghosts. He took one step, not much, but it said enough.

Your relationship evolved quickly from thereon. You had been best friends for years so you already knew each other inside and out.

You were walking through the busy streets of New York, on your way to class. You and Peter went to the same university but had very different schedules. That could be seen as a bad thing, you didn’t have any classes together. But the different schedules allowed you to walk each other to classes. You were on your way to your English Lit. course, you were almost late so you had to hurry up. You stopped in front of the building, turning to each other. “I’ll pick you up after class, yeah?” You nodded at him and smiled. He leaned in and kissed you on the sidewalk. After a while, you pulled away and he chased your lips, wanting more. “Pete, I’m gonna be late.” “I don’t care.” He says. You chuckle: “I do care.” He sighs and takes a step back. You turn around and walk towards the building, turning around before entering to give him a wave. He has a goofy smile on his face and waves back before turning around and walking back to his, your, apartment.

It was late, really late and he still wasn’t home. Peter had gone on patrol, like every night, but he hadn’t returned yet. It was currently four am and you were pacing around the apartment. He should’ve been home by now, something must’ve happened. You turned on the TV to see if there was any news about Spider-Man. Nothing. Suddenly you hear a small thudding noise from the bedroom. You quickly open the door and there you see him. He’s sitting on the fire escape. You open the window and rake your eyes over his body, checking for any injuries. “Where have you been?!” he looks at you sheepishly. “I was just…out on patrol, you know. Like always.” “It’s four am, Peter! I’ve been worried sick!” you yelled. “You really didn’t have to stay up, baby.” “Of course I stayed up! Normally, you’re back by now!” you yelled at him, again. “I can explain. There was a-“ you cut him off before he could finish his sentence. Peter slept in the guest room that night.

The next morning you wake up and reach for Peter. You sit up on your elbow and look around with a frown. Then you remember this morning’s events. You sigh and get up, stretching. You walk into the kitchen and see Peter. You stop in your tracks, you didn’t expect to see him up yet. He turns around, having heard your footsteps (Spidey-sense and all). He starts walking towards sputtering out apologies. You sit down at the kitchen table and he takes the seat across from you. “Please let me explain. I didn’t mean to come home that late and worry you.” You nodded. “There was this- this mugger and he was a pain in the ass. I thought I handled it but then suddenly his friends turned up. Once I handled them I called the police, like always. But for some reason, it took ages for them to show up and then I swung around before coming home. I swear I didn’t know it was four am already.”

It’s the middle of the night. Suddenly, Peter wakes up. He groans and rubs his hand over his face. He turns over to look at you and to check that you’re still asleep. You stir and wake up, turning to look at him. You can’t explain the look on his face, it’s a strange look. He opens his mouth to say something but closes it again. “You’re my best friend.” He says eventually. You frown. Why was he saying this? You guys had been friends for years and now you’ve been dating for a few months. It’s like a light bulb lights up in your head and you knew what it was, he is in love.

July 2024 - Part 1

July 3 - New Heights Ep. 97 airs, season 2 finale. Jason & Travis Kelce discuss Travis' debut on the Eras Tour stage (x) (x 48:30)

Kelce said it was initially his idea to join the show at Wembley Stadium, recalling that he told Swift it would be “funny” if he “rolled out on one of the bikes” that dancers typically ride on stage during the 1989 portion of the show.

Kelce said Swift laughed, but then asked him, “Would you seriously be up for doing something like that?”

“I was just like, ‘What? I would love to do that. Are you kidding me? I’ve seen the show enough — might as well put me to work here,’” he recalled. “And sure enough, she found the perfect part of the show for me to come in.”

Kelce surprised the crowd in London last week when he appeared on stage in a tuxedo and top hat carrying Swift onstage in “The Tortured Poets Department” era of the show.

It happened on the third night of the London stops, after the brothers attended Swift’s first two shows there.

“There was no bike in case I ran into somebody else or hit one of the dancers or anything,” Kelce said. “It was the safest option.”

Kelce said his silly dance on stage was inspired by one Jim Carey does in the movie “Dumb and Dumber.”

“I always wanted to pull out this move, but I never knew like when I should pull it out where it made sense,” he said. “That’s one of my favorite moves of all time!”

All said, Kelce called it an “honor” being on the stage with Swift and her dancers.

“It was an absolute blast,” he shared. “It was such a fun, playful part of the show and it was like the perfect time for me to go up there, just be a ham and have some fun, not only with [Swift]… but the crowd and really try and get everybody excited for the rest of the show. It was awesome.”

“I didn’t disappoint Taylor, so that’s all that really matters,” he added, saying his only rule was “do not drop the baby.”

“The golden rule was ‘Do not drop Taylor. Get her to the couch safe,’” Kelce said.

His brother and co-host Jason Kelce laughed, adding: “No fumbles.”
