His ears are wide open, yet unable to grasp much meaning, so Ian lets his eyes try.

They wander towards the warm, yet curious glint of Lucia’s smile, to her worn and weathered hands pushing away crumpled cash, and the soft and secret stare they share as she relents, taking what was once Ian’s, then Mickey’s, now hers: like an endless knot of karma, weaving seemingly disparate actions into the whirling wheel of will.

His thoughts grow dangerous and hopeful as Mickey turns, then stops dead, like he knew Ian would be there, but is still surprised to see him.

We need more weird historian rep in Doctor Who. The companions are too normal when faced with the prospect of time travel. I want a companion who makes a list of super specific historical destinations related to their dissertation. I want somebody whose first reaction to finding out that the Doctor is a time travelling alien is to create a Microsoft Word document and ask, “What caused the Late Bronze Age collapse?”

Growing up is realizing that Damon Salvatore was a stagnant character trapped in an endless cycle of fuckups by writers and a fan base that refused to let him grow, and if he was going to be with anyone, it should've been Bonnie, the only person to consistently hold him accountable and force him to face the consequences of his actions.

i think a lot about john and ian and their strange, implicit estrangement. it is never explicitly addressed but it is there. blunt going out of his way to say that ian was a good agent but john was a better one. alex always being compared to john despite ian being the man who raised him. ian never telling alex anything about his parents. john never sparing a thought for ian in the snakehead coda. ash being chosen to be the best man at john's wedding and alex's godfather instead of ian. ian being recruited to mi6 straight out of university while john went military and none of it mattering in the end because it was still john who was chosen for the scorpia mission, john who died the hero, john who got blown up and martyred while ian's own death barely registered. you're twentysomething years old and your older brother has just been murdered after being better than you at the one thing you are defined by and you will spend fourteen years raising his son, and none of it will matter. here's a question: why does ian hate being called 'uncle' so much? here's another: can you still be an uncle without a brother?

Speaking of Halloween costumes - I suddenly remembered I have a very unused piece of trivia about Mayu which is she used to be really into magical girl stuff as a kid, but is definitely too embarrassed to admit that around all the boys at NRC

But since she has no magic, I need to bring back one of my favourite images of all time:

thinking about how mickey had to work so hard to get to the point of ease which other people take for granted. when he could finally call ian his boyfriend, could be happy and open about how he much he loves him. so much so that after that he pretty immediately goes to calling him partner, and lover to a police officer of all people, and telling fiona he's fucking family. family. once he accepted that he couldn't live without ian, that he had to grow and change to do it and decided to come out for him, that it was it. he never once considered that this relationship wouldn't be for the rest of his life. because he already did the hard part. loving ian is easy. being entirely devoted is easy. he loves him, he chose him and that's forever.
