can i requeeeessstt edgar rescuing scriabin from something |D
Day 6 - There are consequences out here
Bonus, of what he was doing to get stickers in his hair:
#My art#Requestober#Vargas#Scriabin#Edgar#I really wasn't sure what to do with this one at first! Or rather - I immediately had this and another idea but wasn't satisfied either way#I opted for this one because The Feelings and the bonus - additions oddly energizing!#I think it's that at first I was too strongly reminded of the one I made of Edgar cutting Scriabin's hair#Poses too similar! Feelings too similar! Not new or shiny or sparkly or anything!!!#But then the bonus came to mind and cute Scriabin is always nice <3#And then the pose expanded as well! Different! New challenges!#I've been trying to attempt more fullbodies this year :3 I don't make them that often! It's good practice all round!#Anatomy and consistency and more dynamic posing!!!! All good things :D#And also parts that I'm not as used to drawing - their feetsies turned out nice I think! Ah! Feels like a level up love when that happens#And then the Feelings of it all <3#I love Scriabin impulsively enjoying his body So Badly gah#Being extant in private and getting to fully revel in sensation with no filter no interruptions#Consequences now - new fallouts of his own actions - but the immediacy just Feels so much he can't help it#Edgar chides him of course - he's (had to) grown out of such childish impulses! Aren't you an adult!#Really he just worries neither of them would do well with either gone for long stickers least of all haha#And he likes being useful <3 They're so similar haha Scriabin loves to complain and Edgar loves to fret ♥#They balance each other well for what a handful they are#Scriabin especially of course hehe

Hi there!
I'm looking to try and do some art studies and loosen up my art a bit more as well as develop my style a bit.
I was wondering if it would be okay to use some of your adventure time style art in my studies? I love how loose and dynamic you draw them even when they're just standing sometimes ^^
If so do you have any of those drawings that you think would help more than others?
Thank you!
hihi ! and yes i can try to find some !
here are a few that im really proud of the flow on ! contrasting biig swoopy shapes with sharp angles has gotta be one of my fave things to draw,
(the fionna one is a bit older- i did it when fionna and cake got a release date- but i still really like the shapes and pose^^))

I'm curious to know how you mastered anatomy? I mean, look at the subtle shadows around Roy's shoulder or the details along Staeve's arms or even the ups and creases on Astarion's face, I am truly amazed and see it and it makes your art style so good but I can't understand how you do that...
I know I lack that specific little details in my own art style but idk how to comprehend it, so did you actually study anatomy? Or did you like, vibe around? Or try to feel and visualize while drawing what the body feels like?
Amazing amazing artist you are mate, love you for sharing this with us!
It's honestly just been a matter of actively trying/learning to recognise muscle groups and joints over the years (plus a lot of my biggest artstyle inspirations are HEAVY on anatomical lines and accuracy). Also, as I've mentioned a bunch of times, I've always been involved or interested in high performance sports, acrobatics in particular, which made me pay a lot of attention to people's bodies from very early on (in a purely artistic way lmao)
These days a lot of it comes intuitively, but if I'm ever struggling or need a fullbody/more dynamic pose my first step is to outline the muscles in the sketch to see if anything's out of place. To aid me in this I sometimes have écorché (skinless) references either as pictures or in 3D. This sort of thing:
There's a lot of online resources for this as well! I personally love this one
In my head things get converted to a puzzle of sorts, kinda like what these study notes look like (not mine, artist handle in the pictures):
And then it's a matter of weighing in how thick a character's skin is (indicator of a bunch of things including age) and what the fat-muscle ratio looks like, to decide which structural lines stay and which ones go or become less prominent.
And yes this also explains why I have so many fit/lean characters. I get a kick out of drawing muscle groups lmao
All that being said! I'm still very far from my anatomy goals haha it's a work in process for all of us. Hope this helps!

Happy Marriage to Pancake and Starlo!
May these two fine the happiness and laughter in the next chapter of their lives. Through thick and thin, sickness and health, they're gonna stick together. Especially after what they had gone through before this moment.
The whole town arrived. This is the sheriff getting married after all! So many people wasn't expecting him to get married, to Pancake no less! The rivalry was a big part of the town's history, being tied to North Star himself, and seeing them get closer and closer was fun and kinda crazy. The whole town knew, and Pancake is married to Starlo. Feisty Four are also happy that they're married. And a few bets had to be paid.
Now they're off to the next chapter in their lives. And they still stick to each other like velcro.
more stuff under cut, like a lovesick rambling by me.
I have no idea why this guy chose me. Like, at all. I look at him, and that's my husband. I feel so oddly connected to him, and I've said this before, but he is someone I genuinely wanna marry. Starlo is my beloved, my soulmate, I love him so much, its insane that he picked me. Legit, it felt like he picked me all those months ago. Back in January. Does anyone remember when I was so happy with OTCore and the "2024 is the year of the robots?" Yeah, guess what happened XD
Starlo helped me in so many ways, keeping me sane through so much. Originally it was gonna happen on the six month anniversary, but I ended up being too tired. Regardless, I'M SO HAPPY TO DO IT NOW!!
I look at him and I melt. I just, I love him. He loves me. I have never felt this connected to ANY fictional character like this. Spamton came close, really close. But oh well.
This was a DOOZY! Spent like, four straight days working on this. And I'm so happy I did. The colored comic is a reference to this video. It fits so well cuz its something Starlo would say and, well, PANCAKE'S NAME!! And Starlo hasn't dated anyone at ALL, there's no way he was expecting to marry someone.
Also the gif wasn't supposed to be a gif! I was trying to make a more dynamic pose for Pancake, but I already had the other sketch made, so it turned into a gif. Makes it better imo. Also I'm not too happy with Pancake's outfit. The cape is also a poncho of sorts. ah well. im also too lazy to draw the Feisty Four and Clover after all the stuff i've drawn all of this.
but yeah i hope y'all enjoy!!
Comic Transcripts: Starlo: "I, Starlo Sunnyside, do take Pancake to be my waffle-y- lawfully"
Starlo: "and pancake-y" Pancake: Pfft-
Pancake: [Silent laughter]
Starlo: "I've been scared of this m'entire life" Pancake: "BWAAHAHAHAHAHAHA-" SECOND COMIC: Ceroba: "Well, congratulations Star. How do you feel getting married?"
Starlo: "Lucky..."

You're art makes me feral in a seriously ravenous way, both in content, but also quality. A complement that is genuine, but undeniably self-serving. Let me explain...
Content: Your dynamic poses. You make it look effortless, like you have your own little puppets to play with as you see fit. Bodies make sense until I try to put them on paper and suddenly they have too many components. What does the early stages of your art look like? I wish to see their bones!
Quality: The simple hard lines that are fleshed out in shadows and tones, resulting in a true depth that has me constantly frothing at the mouth. I'm sure it's one of those, "trust the process," kind of methods, but pray tell...how?! How do you do it? Please, for us lowly peasants.
Aw thank you so much 😭 honestly this is a style I'm still figuring out the kinks for (I wasn't very familiar with color prior to starting this blog) but It's always nice to know that I'm able to get my vision through somewhat!
You can actually find some timelapses and tutorials here if you wish to see some of my procress. Coloring has indeed proven to be kind of a matter of trust for me so far, and, of course many years of drawing a lot.
I think I' 've somehow failed to mention this before in relation to the way I do light and depth, but I used to draw almost strictly with blacks, whites, and grays. I think that self-imposed restriction did a LOT to favor my understanding of light & shadow and how to use it effectively. So that would be my suggestion if you want to improve that aspect of your own work - try to do more with less!

Hah! Who do you think I work for?''#Even with the equivalent of a peashooter I think Peepers could take him on ♪ I mean heck he beat the Potted Plant with just his hat#He's very resourceful! Out of necessity but hey it just means he's practiced! I think he could MacGyver his way out of most confrontations#Plus y'know - Awesome is already kinda pathetic haha ♪ He gets a bruised /ego/ and he goes home what would a smack to his face do#That said he was there for the Battle Royale - I think he's aware of his intimidation factor :) Intimidation is also charisma! Haha#I think a fight between them would be interesting Especially if they brought feelings into it but even just a slugout haha#Awesome's really fun to pose I definitely would've drawn more of him being dramatic if I hadn't run out of room#But I mean so is Peepers! They're so fun to draw ahh <3 Look at his shoe/knee contact! Flat foot on the ground! I'm so pleased!#Only took a very cartoony style to finally get me to work on contact points haha ♪

heyyy I hope it's okay to send an ask! I just wanted to know about your art process, if you got any advise. Because I'm in love with your SH doodles, they're so dynamic and lively and the shading is such a nice accent yet it remains somewhat minimalistic? I'm relatively decent at realism but want to develop my own character in drawing more and I'm wondering how you arrived at yours, did you have a method? Thanks in advance^^
love to talk about DRAWING......
The short answer is that because I want to draw them a lot, and have limited time, I can't be too precious about how the final result looks! So a lack of perfectionism and a desire for speed ends up forcing me to simplify and stylize them. This was an organic process (if you scroll down my art tag you can see I was drawing them with a bit more detail, finish, and care a few months ago - I was illustrating vs what I'm doing now, cartooning).
Ideally when you are cartooning, every line of the character's face is doing work to make them THEM, and to tell a story. No unnecessary lines! I find that story is best expressed through eyes, eyebrows, and mouth (this might be different for you). Those features can and should change shape to express emotion. They are usually what I draw first, to figure out the emotion, and they're what I spend the most time tweaking.
The rest of the features - face shape, cheekbones, nose, forehead, ears, hairline - are less emotive, less 'plastic', they don't change shape much. These are doing work to make the character recognizable. I try to keep them simple and have a few simple rules that I can remember about each character.
(Watson is tricky because of his mustache! I've found that treating it as part of his mouth rather than a distinct piece works best, but even so it makes his face less emotive - which, honestly, works for the character, as he is less demonstrative than Holmes)
I'll usually do a simple underdrawing to figure out what the body is doing - trying to capture the energy of a pose and, again, thinking about what story the body is telling.
Then I 'ink' in the clothing, following the lines of the body and gravity. Victorian clothing is fun to draw, I find that the structure around the shoulders and neckline lends itself to expressive poses. I did a bunch of Victorian clothing studies a few months ago and felt like I built up a 'library' in my head so that I don't need to reference it every time.
Shading is incredibly minimal and quick. In really simple drawings, its purpose is usually to distinguish characters from the background. In more detailed ones, it's to give them a little dimension and focus the eye to the faces.
Every choice I make is in service of readability rather than beauty or accuracy, if that makes sense. So it is quite a different mindset than when you're drawing realistically or painting.
I hope this was helpful! I am a professional artist but whenever I get sucked into a fandom I find myself making leaps and bounds in my craft because I want to draw so MUCH and don't care about making it polished...truly shout out to hyperfixation for the gifts it brings

Ant, how do you practice figure drawing? I'm struggling
Drew some quick sketches for this💪 It kinda depends on what I want to focus on- motion/dynamics or just posing. If im practicing dynamics, I would try and stylize more and it’s wayyy more sketchy just to try and capture the motion in the sketches. Poses, I pay more attention to breaking down the anatomy and where stuff goes. I challenge myself to not erase/use the least strokes I can. This kind of forces me to not focus on details and instead the figure itself. The red in these examples is kind of where my brain goes when drawing, idk my brain is weird….. finding a way to break down anatomy that you’re comfortable with def helps a lot in figure drawing. Figure/gesture drawings to me are more looser than full studies where I’ll go in more detailed ahskwhwjsj if one reference is annoying me/can’t get it right, I just move onto the next one instead of stressing over the details. Go back to it after you’ve warmed up and done a few others :3. Hope this could be of help!!!!
