Hi Huh-nim, just a random thought but I'm curious about how much Jaedo have opened up to each other. I think Jaehyun seems to be the type of person that stays in his own world and probably keep most of his thoughts to himself because he found that not a lot of people around can relate to his perspectives. Doyoung could also be quite defensive or protective of his true feelings to others as well despite his friendly character. I'm curious about how Jaedo show intimacy in their relationship.

What is the point of a "lifelong partner" if you can't or don't want to open up to him? When you continue to "stay lonely" in such a relationship?

People want real friends or a family (in its ideal form) to have someone they can open up to, speak without caution, be listened to and be accepted, not judged, a place to relax and be oneself.

Jaehyun even wants to show his true character to fans (his weird humour, his clumsiness, his slowness, his hobbies), and you think he will play someone with Doyoung? He is authentic by design, pretending is hard for him, not comfortable. We also know that Jaehyun has profound talks with his relatives when troubled and listens to their advice. Ergo, he seeks out intimate talks (with a selected few). Jaehyun also has an inclination to express himself through song-writing, and he chooses to tap into his own experiences and feelings, not just write rythming words and use popular cliches. Lastly, Jaehyun is bad at lying.

As for Doyoung, his motto is "be sincere with oneself", "live truthfully to oneself". He is talkative and likes to vent, as well as process and contemplate while speaking. He highly values authenticity in people and is not quick to truly trust, meaning, he will seek this out in a relationship. I stressed several times how Doyoung becoming more abrasive is a sign of closeness. The more he is intimate he is with someone, the more he is "unfriendly". For Doyoung being "defensive" isn't about hiding his opinions. On the contrary, it's about debating over them, insisting on him being right. Take in the context of SK as the country where the older person's words are always "right", someone the younger person can't go against or even question. Teh country of tradition, doing as everyone else, conforming and following rules. And there is Doyoung who talks to people much older than him as equal and who always contradicts "norms" if he doesn't agree.

JaeDo are very attuned to each other, used to each other's antics and habits, and this level of "becoming one" doesn't come without psychological intimacy as one needs to understand why the other does what he does. Some of it comes through observation (the way Doyoung knows how Jaehyun looks when he wants to say something while the everyone in the room are talking and Jae doesn't know when and how to speak up), some of it is communicated through verbal explanations. Doyoung said "I'm stubborn, but Jaehyunie is more stubborn". Such a conclusion comes from battling over opinions and personal POVs on situations.

Both Do and Jae said that their ideal first date is getting to know another person in a cafe, conversing. They used to have talks in the evening with wine (Jae showed us his mini fridge he bought for the drinks). They copy each other's interests (like scented candles, jazz), which is a sign of wanting to "merge" (create one environment, one set of rules/hobbies that is suitable and comfortable for both) and opposite to staying "the way I was before the relationship, my own unique untouchable individual self".

Notice how when Jaehyun relaxes he becomes a chatterbox. Only those who think they will be ostricised for their ideas or those who think everyone else are morons don't want to share their thoughts and what they think. People have egos, and egos want their opinions to be known. For any person, the goal is not to be fully understood (it's seldom possible), the goal is to be accepted despite your weird thoughts, or your tics, or your flaws. And the more a person's mind is creative/full of ideas, the more he wants to verbalise them, let someone know about them.

In conclusion, yes, JaeDo ought to open up to each other a lot and discuss various topics. They wouldn't have the deep trust they have without that. Now, do Jaedo have sensitive topics they prefer not to touch on? Of course they should. Like it's evident Jae stayed away from Do's beef with Ten and Johnny as much as he could. And it seems to me Doyoung avoids involving himself with the creative projects of his friends because he knows he will want to do it his way, insist on his vision, that he can hurt with his critique.

It is also possible that both hide from each other temporal difficulties they have to not burden the other one. We know Doyoung prefers to shut himself in his room and work through his anger or other negative emotions alone. However, it's not always about mistrust. Some people simply calm down better alone, while others better with help from others. Or another example, if Jaehyun vented out his frustration on Doyoung everytime he felt jealous, it wouldn't do any good to their relationship that was still in its early stages back in 2018-2019.

I used "temporal" as I don't include long-lasting issues that can destroy or fester and blow up, and thus need to be shared and worked through. Because looking at how JaeDo sail smoothly, they do it. For example, when Jaehyun was vulnerable due to the scandal and attacks in 2020, Punch era, he didn't try to be a strong soldier and act as if it didn't affect him (again, he simply isn't capabele of that). And Do was right there beside him as morale support. (Doyoung actually always fawns over pouting and sulking Jaehyun, partly why Jae does it so theatrically, he manages to get Do's attention on himself from Do's work).

Lastly, a bit off topic, why does everyone forget Doyoung is a weird Aquarius himself? Why won't he understand Jaehyun when the two clicking is the reason Jae is so attached to Do in the first place? Only because Do once said he doesn't get how Jae's brain works? Do thinks he is normal himself. While he may well be the rarer brain type out of the two. Who cries over a dead Marie because her real story was misinterpreted in history? Or is super-fixated on outward look and fights over fake glasses to wear for the performance but doesn't do manicure even for a fashion pictorial?

So I've been thinking quite a lot about a lot of things since Tae debuted since the release of slow dancing and I've decided to put my thoughts into words

So since Tae released and debuted officially there's been a lot going on around his debut at the same time nothing at all. I'm very surprised by the company's quietness. Hybe's quietness. Geffen records quietness I haven't seen a single post from the companies with regards to the debut and the release.

It's so bad like really bad. I'm pretty sure he's rethinking his decisions maybe wishes he has taken a different route because his debut is not that much different from the rap line. It'll be by luck if he sees the bb100 top 30. I mean the schedule was fucked up. How do you release the same day as the industries plant and expect good results. Kths trydefending themselves by saying that he didn't have a Collab before his debut like the other members. That's not an excuse good enough it's not a valid excuse at all considering that fact he "the most popular idol". You should have to have excuses when it comes to delivering. I knew they wouldn't do good in streams but I thought they could do better in MV views considering the fact that when they called him the most famous idol they would bring fancam views and engagements as evidence. By the way is it only me who notices that not only army has stopped posting updates about jimin they have stopped completely engaging in his posts and brand posts.?

So with what's going on rn. Many thought that scooter probably has beef or a problem with jimin but it doesn't only seem like that but it's also crystal clear that they're indeed pushing the "Jungkook biggest pop star" agenda. It's clear now that they've invested in jk only. Which makes me raise an eyebrow with regards to the group's future

Whilst on JK. I truly don't get him now. Idk I feel like whatever ever it is that he's doing its definitely not good and it's going to backfire in the long run. First of all his behaviour during the second chapter is very mhhhh. Idk he's been serving weird vibes and I feel like this is the real him. He's done concealing and putting on a facade and his personality is pure shite. First of all he smokes that's not very surprising to me. He's always wanted to be viewed as this tough guy, nonchalant guy who got zero chill and gives zero fucks. He's drank on live showed alcohol on a live not even Jin the CEO of Jinhit does that he's always made sure not to show alcohol when he drinks on a live. He's smoking nicotine and all that shite he probably smokes a blunt too. He's got a whole sleeve of tattoos. All these things I think he's tryna appears tough and all. But he behaves like a teen going through adolescent. You're 26 grow tf up and stop lurking on the internet, tryna be a bad boy you're half way to your thirties. Behave like your age.

And a part of me thinks this may all be fabricated, with the bad boy, fuck boy image he tryna have for his debut looking at seven the lyrics and all that now seen in the streets of NY smoking clearly looking at a camera knowing his being photographed, looks staged to me. When he was in SK he clearly panicked in that live when his vape was visible, that doesn't seem nonchalant to me because of he doesn't really give a fuck he should have gave a fuck then also, because he tries hiding the vape then. He might just be seen making out with a female or in a club somewhere with strippers shaking their ass on him. Which reminds me of the wild JB during his debut years scandal after scandal. Classic.

With all that's going on rn idk if BTS is really going to come back as a group in 2025 if they come back as a group jk is going to stand out like a sore thumb because you can't try and convince me that the members are absolutely okay with this. Them getting the bare minimum and jk getting everything. There's already been a shift in the group's energy you can see who's who. That ot7 shite don't exists no more. Tell me why would scooter invest millions on a guy that'll be gone in the next 7-8 months unless he's not going to serve with the rest of the group or when BTS comes back they'll be ot7 with the maknae gone. Gone to be the biggest pop star.

If BTS comes back in 2025 it'll be very much forced. Namjoon before FACE. He looked like he was done with the group barely mentioning it he looked like he was happy being a solo because his album was doing good. The FACE was released nigga was on some "I want better numbers" blah blah. He became jealous and insecure. Then there's yoongi with his bitchy attitude towards jimin which I won't even address. Then there's Tae and Jimin whom it is very clear that they're divorced the friendship is gone they're no longer close everybody can see. Now tell me how would it look like if they bahave like besties in their comeback when we clearly know they're not that close anymore? The there's JK, I know none of the members are okay with this preferred treatment him being treated like the next MJ. but tbh td has a history of popping questionable backstory tidbits; with trent's whole thing, heather getting electrocuted by her own parents, cody's everything, mike, alejandro, duncan, courtney, the list goes on tbh, nearly everyone's got their hand in the shitty backstory jar to some degree ngl, so it kinda makes sense in a way that the fandom glosses over dave bc, like, tdpi isn't as well-watched AND it's become sort of the norm for a contestant to have a shitty backstory or part of one

but like, you're so right, anon, it's WILD, and lemme just discuss that for a sec (bc any opportunity to inspect dave under a microscope, I will never pass up)

dave insinuating that he's had worse panic attacks before and that sky managed to stop him before things got too bad (which is smth not many ppl are able to do to him) def emphasizes my idea of dave's backstory that...obv it was not the best. that with the idealization of "being normal" it could be that his family just...either never got the time to or doesn't feel inclined to help him through his attacks or that he doesn't feel comfortable enough around them to allow them to do so. in schools, I feel like he's the same way--he doesn't strike me as the type to have a lot of friends, and ppl would prob tend to see him as the "weird germaphobe" which doesn't help matters at all.

and even if ppl have tried to help him before, based on his words abt sky and the implications that his attacks get worse, the 'help' from others in his past seems to have not been done sincerely, more so it was just to stop him and get it over with. there was a lack of distinct care for his well-being or just him as a person, rather just a clinical outlook to stop the panic attack. that's what I'm getting from that bit

like it brings the fact that he's had to deal with these panic attacks on his own and with only his own "calming effect" to rely on bc no one else has done it for him (and we all know how great his "calming effect" was given how badly his character deteriorated mentally). so it could be that he was so used to relying on himself, handling his attacks by himself, regardless of how bad or good that self-effect might be on his mental health, that the first person to give him that same--if not better--kind of calming effect, he latched on instantly thinking that since no one else was truly willing to be there for him in the past and present, sky helping him must be bc she cares. it's such a warped mentality that I feel, looking at it psychologically, could have stemmed from prior attachment issues and lack of proper family functioning and friendships

it's disheartening bc in the confessional right after, he looks so stunned and in awe that sky had actually calmed him down. clearly it's not smth he's used to from other ppl, so when it did happen, he reacted overly extreme and that's where things started to spiral

(going off on a tangent here, I also feel like that correlates to my own hc of dave having a distant family. he doesn't fully understand what it's like to be attached to someone, it's not smth he's used to. it's always been himself. so when sky came along, he couldn't function right, and obv I'm not blaming anyone (even though that should be a given considering I love both sky and dave as characters, but y'know, just putting that out there), it's just interesting to pick apart a character's seemingly trivial actions and words and think abt the potential underlying implications behind them)

it's why I love characters like these over the too good ones bc everything is just straightforward with those kinds, it's all laid out on the table, unless you personally make hcs to change it. don't get me wrong, I love characters from both categories, it's just that for characters like dave, it's smth totally different, there's so much going on under the surface, and personally, that's what I find interesting (maybe it's the psych minor in me rearing its head whoops 😭)

What do you think of BTS's enmeshment with the Korean state and chaebol culture when they started out as underdogs (perhaps self-mythologized to a degree) and used to do anti-consumerism songs like Baepsae? I guess it's inevitable for a group that big, and SK has a very unusual economy that developed extremely quickly (plus there's NK breathing down its neck), but it still feels weirdly adjacent to propaganda. Also, do you think they will end up doing military service?

I think being a "sellout" in some sense is the fate of 100% of really successful media personalities. As long as they keep trying to spread their own values to some degree, that's all I can really ask. "Authenticity" doesn't mean "staying poor" to me.

Is there a propaganda element? Well, yes. Sure. They're also idols, so they were always kind of manufactured, Baepsae notwithstanding.

I think fans have a hard time accepting that all media we like is pretty mainstream with everything that comes with that. It's true of anything that aired on US tv. It's true of any Netflix original, no matter how niche. It's true of any band popular enough for normal people to have heard of it.

If you truly want to be a fan of indie weirdness, that's more possible than ever, but that won't be something where other people on tumblr make gifsets or there's even one fic on AO3. I've known those kinds of people. They're usually found at some tiny performance space in some major city watching somebody play glasses of water or make animal noises into a microphone. (Keiji Haino fans, I'm looking at you.)

There's no shame in preferring a romance novel or thriller to an obscure chapbook of poetry with a print run of 200... But fans would be happier if they could accept which type of nerd they are.

I never thought I'd say this, but it does kind of seem like they're being positioned to not do military service. I'll believe it when I see it though. All the other groups "too big" to go have served in the past, and while I've been vaguely aware of idol stuff for years, I only started paying attention recently. I'd be interested to know what South Korean fans who know the industry well think of the supposed signs they won't serve. This could easily be like tinhat stuff where the tinhats are sure their "evidence" is super original and valid, and everyone's who's been through a few rounds of it is like "LOL, child."

I have technically already talked about it a little bit BUT because you do not go here (homestuck) I am never above both talking about it MORE (because I secretly love talking about this stuff) and also trying to explain it in a way that makes sense for a Non-Homestuck in this instance (keyword here: try lol).

Hmm where to start hmmmhmhm. Basically, the main main character is a dude who grew up in an experimental cloning facility but was raised separate from the others with one (1) whole friend and so had kind of a weird upbringing but eventually grows up and makes a series of mistakes that culminate in him working alongside (though not technically for) a group of people that put him in contact, and doing a Huge Favor for another, larger, and admittedly Worse group of people. I'm using the term "people" to generalize. There are aliens. Multiple kinds but the general shape is humanoid.

He is given a Gift, and this gift ruins his life.

It ends (and our story begins) with him isolated from the only family he has ever known, working as a glorified work hound for a person who does not really want him as her weird purse dog at all, and both of them under the thumb of someone much larger, and much crueler. He is not entirely himself, at least fifty percent of the time, and that is sure something I decided to incorporate into this.

The other non-main but unfortunately I've roped into this is a person who fell into favor with the same dude, but instead of being given a Gift he was given a Job, except he was not necessarily given the opportunity to turn down this job, and he as Free Will but is not Free To Go Home, u feel???

anyway so it is like that, currently. I have like. all backstory but still have to sit down and write more than just character interactions bc eventually my sad plot will need like, an actual middle and end LOL

How do you think JK feels about Tae being all up close and personal with Wooga, like as is shown in In the Soop? I know they are all best friends, but Tae is most likely in a relationship with JK and doesn't ever seem to set boundaries with people. He often is very touchy and sometimes flirtatious with people. I can't imagine that going over well with JK.

I just picture it like me (a girl) going and spending the night with a bunch of my guy friends and cuddling with them, rolling around with them and hanging all over them. My boyfriend would be pissed. Same goes for my best friend who is a lesbian. She says it'd be weird as eff if her girlfriend did that with a bunch of her girl friends. lol I guess there are different "rules" in Korea for that stuff? It all strikes me as bizarre. I truly don't mean to hate on Tae, I just want to understand. Is it all chalked up to "boys will be boys"?

Jungkook has to have the patience of a saint. And if he's okay with all that Tae does, I'd be very shocked. I'm sure he's supportive in many ways, but I doubt he's thrilled with a lot of Tae's actions in these social situations he's in.

Well, I’m not a mind reader so I really can’t even begin to guess.  As I’ve said before, I do think there’s plenty of evidence (including him basically saying it himself many times over the last decade) that Jungkook is a generally possessive person.  So assuming that he and Taehyung are in a relationship, is it possible that it bothers him when Taehyung is touchy and flirty with other people?  Sure, it’s possible.

But I think there are a lot of other factors at play here.  For one, there’s the culture.  It is different in South Korea than it is in a lot of places, including in the States, where I am.  It’s really normal there for same-gender friends to touch each other a lot, hold hands, be verbally affectionate -- a lot of the stuff that Taehyung is really free with.

Then there’s just in-group culture and individual personality to consider.  Think of it this way: Taehyung is a naturally affectionate, cuddly person who is very attractive, has a lot of charisma, and knows how to turn the charm on.  If Jungkook and Taehyung are together, wouldn’t those be some of the very traits that made Jungkook fall for him?  Why would he want Taehyung to change those things about him if they’re part of what attracts him to Tae in the first place?

I’m not saying that everyone has to be okay with everything, but this is stuff that every individual couple is going to navigate on their own.  There are certain things that, within the bounds of a monogamous relationship, you can probably assume wouldn’t be cool if one partner did it with someone else -- like kissing, as a general rule.  And then there are other details that it’s up to a particular couple to iron out on their own, to figure out the boundaries of what is and isn’t okay -- like, I don’t know, peeling perilla leaves for friends, for example?

Ultimately it’s not up to you or me or anyone else to determine what is and isn’t acceptable behavior for Taehyung if he’s in a relationship with Jungkook.  It’s only up to them, and I would hope that there would be room for Taehyung to be his natural self within that relationship, especially with the different cultural norms surrounding affection between friends in SK, and the length of time that I imagine Taekook have been together -- if they don’t have some sense of security after several years, then they probably have bigger issues.

(Besides, can you imagine Jungkook ever doubting that Taehyung is deeply invested in him?  I mean, even if they’re not dating, Taehyung is far from shy about letting everyone know how much he thinks about Jungkook.)

Thank you for such a long ask! I really enjoy replying those, although it may take some time to actually write whatever I have on my mind 🙂 However, I feel like for every question that you posed, it's possible to write its own big reply or even an essay, so this piece of mine probably won’t give them justice (but I’ll try my best.)

As usual, one big IMO.

1) Ethics, “gueer coding” and discussions

I believe I’ve already partly touched this subject here. Shortly, I think that everything the boys did (and still do) had its own purpose. They decided to put these "undertones" (or whatever one may call them) in their art. They made some statements with a very small room for interpretation. And it didn't happen once or twice. More like, it's been a consistent behaviour throughout years.

I don't buy this excuse some fans write - "oh, he just didn't know about this/didn't understand how it looked like/didn't..." So apparently, JK wasn't able to figure out shit about Troye, didn't give a damn about his GCF, didn't think how his tattoo looked like; JM didn't realize to what conclusions could lead his quite bold words about 4am or waking up and seeing JK; both of them didn't have second thoughts about the Black Swan dance; Bang PD is just a CEO who pays zero attention to BTS in general and KM actions in particular (which sometimes actually backlash, e.g. that stop gay fanservice thing after the Seoul concerts), because he clearly just doesn't care AT ALL; whatever PR service they have in BH is just asleep all the time... Etc etc etc, you got the idea

Well, if one wants to perceive JM, JK and BigHit as a group of complete morons with no brains, this "oh, they just didn't know" explanation may work. But if all of them were idiots, how would BTS become the biggest group on a planet? They are smart enough, deal with this.

And YET. KM still do what they do. It's their choice, so apparently they have their motives. You wrote it yourself too - "Jikook and BH put out all that stuff for a reason."

Keeping this in mind, I truly think it's fair to discuss queer undertones or KM's bond. It's meant to be discussed and speculated. They made it public, and they continue to make it public (and quite obvious, to be honest). Why? Well, I guess they want us to speculate.

From here comes the second point

2) Art and its interpretations

In general, I believe that any good art should allow various interpretations. That's what a good piece of art is supposed to do - provoke a thought. As well as it's quite customary to analyze and (sometimes) overanalyze art. Thousands of universities worldwide have programs which are focused on fine art, literature, theater, music, film, etc.

And why is it okay to write about Avengers or Madonna or whatever weird art you're able to find in the closest Contemporary museum (like a banana taped to a wall), but not okay to interpret BTS' songs and/or performances? Again, I strongly believe that art is meant to be discussed. Especially as cool as theirs 🙂

Actually, some popular fandom theories turned out to be true here. Since Spring Day release on Feb 2017, fans speculated about its connection to the Sewol ferry tragedy based on the song's lyrics, MV and choreo. We got this confirmation like when, December 2020? But before it was also just an interpretation.

Coming back to KM. Combining these with the idea that JM/JK/BH clearly know what they're doing and how it may look like, I don't see a problem in having various interpretation of their art. Including queer ones.

3) Escapism

Isn't all art targeted to escaping in a sense? We want to take a break from reality and/or mundane life or just gain some new experience. In this sense what's the radical difference between staring at pictures or sculptures in a museum, watching a movie, reading a book or scrolling through Tumblr reading BTS/KM centric posts? All of these are means to escape and entertain ourselves.

As for this "if they are a queer couple, is it okay to derive pleasure and 'what a beautiful love story' feelings from two members of systematically oppressed minority?" - and you would prefer doing what - ignoring them? pretending that they don't exist? 🙃 In case if they are a queer couple, I guess showing support and benevolence is even more important. Exactly because, as you mentioned, they are a part of the oppressed minority. And the hatred is/would be definitely in place.

4) Fanfiction

Oh my, what a controversial theme these days.

Firstly, some forget it was not invented in the 21st century. Even slash fanfiction (cough Star cough Trek). As for incorporating real people, it's been a part of literature for like what.. always? There are millions of different writings about emperors, nobles, military figures, lives of saints, etc. And it's not like personal opinion of people in question bothered those, who write or wrote about them. I clearly remember a scene in Leo Tolstoy's War and Peace, where Alexander I [Russian emperor 1801-25] after losing a battle against Napoleon, hits a birch tree with his sword while crying hard and just being kinda hysterical. Would real Alexander be satisfied with such image if he read the book? Idk 😄

About having "the right to comment on such [different from your own] experience". I suppose, if authors wrote only about what they had experienced, our literature would be 95% poorer than it is. How can one write books in historic settings if they didn't live there? How do books about future and space travel exist, if we live in 2021? Is it needed to be a part of mafia to write about mafia? What about other cultures? Should an American author write only about American people and American lifestyle or it's fine to have characters from other countries?

Writing is not about experiencing something and then making a fanfic or a book, it's more about research and compassion. If you have reliable info on your theme and are able to look at the world using different lenses, why not?

I don't perceive fanfiction as a worldwide evil. Sure, there are creepy examples as well as authors, who write fetishizing weird shit. But it doesn't mean that all fanfiction=bad and all slash fanfiction=objectification of male homosexuality. Fanfiction is just one form of fiction, it can be good or bad based on how it's written. But the label itself doesn't define anything, as well as reading it should not be a reason to accusations.

5) Jikook, shipping and politics

I'm among those, who perceive pretty much everything as a part of politics. We all exist within some political conventions and have certain political laws over our heads. And yes, it includes art. Even if an artist says something like "oh, I decided to stay away from politics, my work is beyond it". The decision to stay away from politics is also political, because apparently there was something within the political structure what made this artist say that and forced them to make this distinction between them and some institutional conventions.

And that makes me believe that shipping/supporting KM is also political. But I don't think it's necessarily bad? Basically, you decided to support potentially queer people from a country, which doesn't really approve LGBTQ+. It puts you in the opposition towards a particular government. You made a choice. You could google some SK stuff, read all that you mentioned in the beginning of your ask, and say something like "oh, that's not okay there? well, fair enough, I guess their government knows better"🤠 and forget that this KM thing even exists. But apparently you didn't

Imo, is it politics? Yes

Is it bad that it's politics? Well, no? 🙃

So I watched Cats Warsaw pt. 2 - how a ship may have saved me from another petty breakdown.

Hey, hi, this gets pretty personal. Not everyone will probably understand, I've had people telling me I'm taking it too seriously but I don't exactly control my emotional investment in stuff.

So you know I have this ship, selfship, with Skimble.

Maybe some of you know that after I took a closer look at the B-way revival (my first and favorite production) and noticed Jenny and Skimble pretty much act married... I went through a breakdown where I almost abandoned my ship - because I felt disgusting. Like a homewrecker, like my OC was just a sidehoe.

What is once seen cannot be unseen. It took me a long time to reprogram myself to think of them as just friends until proven otherwise, and even then I felt like I was lying to myself.

And then, a few days ago, the info drops that the Skimble from the Asia Tour - my favorite one - is Jenny's "husband". Her actress's words.

This paired with the gross truth I learned about the origins of the Skimbletable made me feel desperate again. Like there is literally no good choice for me. Either a married man or a creep. I cried for hours bc I'm just dramatic like that.

Those few days ago I told some people that no amount of friends saying "he loves you!" would help because I don't doubt it. In fact if Jenny is his type then my Lily is too. But that all I could hear would be "he loves you TOO."

I don't want Lily to be a "too".

Not like this.

Not to her.

In comes Cats Warsaw, where Skimble shares all his most tender moments with... Jellylorum.

And at last I.... finally realized what TRULY bothers me about Sk*mbled*ts. I mean, I kinda KNEW it already, and I've said stuff before that should have led me to that conclusion, but now I finally see clearly and can put it into words.

It's the constancy. The inevitability of her always being there paired up with him, close to him, no matter the production.

And in that arrangement Lily would always be a "too".

But... here I got offered an alternative, and I was surprisingly really on board with Jelly and Skimbs. Because if it doesn't always have to be Jenny and Skimble, if it can be Jelly and Skimble... then it can be Lily and Skimble too.

What's funnier, I immediately latched onto it. Like, seeing it legit makes me happy and inspired instead of sad and helpless and heartbroken, PURELY BECAUSE IT'S SOMETHING ELSE. I'm even thinking about a poly (Jellilyshanks?) Warsaw AU bc I also love Jelly plenty and would not mind that at all.

Thank you, Cats Warsaw, for popping up exactly when I needed you.

The final score: 7.8/10

Designs: 2/10 kinda ugly by being lackluster and messy, the silhouettes are not very clear and a lot of cats have similar ones which diminishes recognizability. They don't look like cats but don't look entirely like humans either, at least they're somewhat trying.

Music: 10/10 this cast is FANTASTIC. I love the tiny ending change to "Macavity"

Dancing: 7/10 I definitely judged it too harshly the first time - there are some songs where it could've been better (Macavity, M&R) but overall, it's pretty awesome. While the choreography is a bit meh sometimes, the actors really do the most with it most of the time. Also, they have one of my favorite Macavity fights.

Interactions: 10/10 there were plenty to look at. No strong family headcanons popped out at me so to speak but what I appreciate is that a lot of the characters (pretty much all the main ones I've been observing) are pretty much always in-character (as in, interacting in a distinct way rather than just doing generic cat stuff), hence why I'm giving it a 10 even if in reality it's more like... 9,5.

Comfort watching: 10/10 BABEY!!! I think it's pretty much gonna be my comfort production. No ship with Skimble that makes me uncomfortable, no Alonzo (or anyone else) having uncomfortable contact with characters I see as minors/very young adults, no weird pas de deux stuff. It's perfect.

I thought that if beard was going to any show on the tour it'd be Chicago, since there she's got her very own teams of paps! aka SK. HOPEFULLY D gets to do the last few cities w/o her. Though I'm willing to be that his "day off" on the 28th is actually a day he's forced to do some sort of event/promo. The scheduling right now is really weird. It does seem like his team is cramming things in. But I also wonder if D is cramming beyond his comfort, to try to get shit over with in a certain time

Oh she sure does have her very own personal team of paps anon, all of whom I assume are on her payroll.  Daddy needs to make sure his little girl gets her promo. We would not want her to break a nail, and say, actually work.

When I saw that M was in Chicago last night, I honestly just kind of wanted to cry for him. Surprised?  No, you are right, with the exception of Newark, this makes the most sense due to the SKs living there (and maybe more logical as the NYC friends seem to have dropped off and have toned down their promotion considerably). 

But truly, he just spent 10 days dragging her from country to country, introducing her to tons of powerful people. posing for PDA pap pics, RCs, her snap, his SM, promoting the bar.  It would be nice for him to actually have a moment to breathe (I guess team shit considers 3 solo nights in Paris while he continued to work his “free” time).

But i agree, the excessiveness in a really short time frame doesn’t make a ton of sense. Especially if this was a long-term plan to continue to have D tied to her.  

Which makes me wonder why are they cramming in so much and why is D allowing it? 

I have my theories, I have a feeling they are similar to yours. I got really burned with my ACS predictions, so I think i will strongly allude to what they are without overtly stating it and emphsaize that it is pure speculation as i watch this unfold and see her get more and more than ever before.  At this point, there is no argument that you can be his fan and ignore her. She is everywhere.

But i really do hope that this complete over-the-top, completely in our face promo is leading to something really positive for D.  Because they need to stop stealing from him. More he just needs the opportunity to live his life and promote his career without the constant obligation to support her and every person he is tied to in the process.  

Fingers crossed anon that D is actually working towards something wonderful even though right now it looks pretty bleak on the surface.

I'm gonna be honest... I didn't really liked Holland's song and voice, it's just not my thing I guess. Idk... plus I don't know nothing about him? I think there's not so much info about him out there... like, I only see people talking about how he's gay and how we should support him (which yes, I support every lgbt+ person out there) but... then what. I think 90% if people that hype him up don't even know his real name. And all of this was so out of the blue (1)

Like I only saw thing about him like 3 days b4 his mv dropped. Idk something is just weird and yeah, I feel like he is not even trying to represent tge gay people of sk but just... idk how to say it. I think the word you’re looking for is shallow, or empty. And I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks this way, because honestly, my words exactly. Like I said, nothing stood out about him as a solo artist. Even if he was lacking the vocal/dance talent (which comes with training and practice), usually one would make it up with the performance or charismatic aspect, but as of now, as an artist he seems very mediocre to me. 

And also, I know we continually say SK culture is conservative, but I think that’s mostly towards the older community. It’s mostly millennials, and younger, who are listening to Kpop...all of whom are quite open to this nowadays I would think. There’s a reason why “queerbaiting” is a thing--people like it. If this debut was truly meant to impact a greater audience, then the contents should have had a deeper story and message. But all I got was a Kdrama with a kiss scene. Like ??? Who is that going to impact? When Troye Sivan came out with “Blue Neighbourhood”, it created a huge splash and “WE GET IT YOU’RE FAMOUS” because he told an elaborate story with his songs. Sure, there were R18 scenes and stuff in his MV, but that was never all it was--it was all part of a bigger story, a tool meant to implement emotions. In addition, I still don’t think he’s the best vocalist (and I personally don’t really like his music still), but he knew how to perform, and he sang meaningful songs. 

I feel like the mindset many people are taking rn is “maybe if I support HOLLAND, my oppar will also come out as gay!” which to me is just...ridiculous. If ever such a correlation would occur, it would be very unlikely.

He’s an artist. Judge him as that first. I really hope people aren’t blindly support just because he identifies as gay. That to me is just reverse XD
