Brainrotting about the Cherri - Angel - Husk dynamic again bc as a lover of psychologically charged narratives I find its potential so compelling.

It's the "I love you as you are" (a good sentiment on the surface but not when you're kind of a bad person that makes horrible life decisions) vs. "I love the better You I know you can become" for me, really.

Both Cherri and Husk obviously care about Angel and I don't think Cherri (in her pursuit of cheering Angel up in a way that's always worked before) is a bad friend, but she IS an unhealthy friend. She caters to what Angel wants, even when the things he wants are bad for him. Simply put, she's an enabler, even though she means well.

Meanwhile, Husk teaches and keeps Angel accountable for what he needs. He encourages him to be a better person, even if it's a harder road to take and might, in Angel's eyes, potentially make Husk look like a bad friend sometimes.

They are quite literally an angel and a devil on Angel's shoulders, lol

Hi!! Haven’t done an ask in awhile but I have two questions.

1. Do you believe that winners can have children?

2. Would Betty and Pen ever have a baby? (If you don’t believe winners can reproduce you can ignore this question lol)

Hi hi! Thank you for the questions!

1. I don't think they can, biologically. BUT because Heaven is all about making people happy and for some having children is the biggest fulfillment factor, I am in fact debating the idea of a specific caste of angels performing miracles so to speak, or creating life that looks like the parents. A Heaven in vitro of sorts I suppose dbdbdbx

Then again, unlike Heavenborn angels who are born with a specific purpose (though they can go against that purpose, it never seems to end well for them), human souls have full free will. This puts that idea in an interesting conundrum - if the child is technically human, wouldn't it be unfair that they get to live in Heaven even though they have yet to prove they deserve it? Or maybe that's how new souls are made, and they have to go to Earth first to prove themselves, and their Heaven parents are their guardian angels...

As for 2... I believe this comic addresses that well enough :]

Man, I really do love when I set out to tell a self-indulgent love story and accidentally stumble my way into bigger themes that resonate with a lot of real-life situations. One of the themes of this story, I suppose, being that most people fear what they don't know and what not helping them understand can lead to. Though unfortunately, there will always be those whose hearts are forever closed and filled with hate...

Featuring a cameo from @bbsundae 's Caerwyn and Cimani! They were chosen in a contest on Instagram based off vibes alone, so imagine my surprise when we got talking and it turned out their lore fits PERFECTLY with this scene and this chapter in general 😭 At this point I wouldn't even consider it a silly cameo but a legit collaborative addition to the story. Maybe you'll see them around in some other comic someday.

Devi's ramblings about her own oc x canon ship pt. 1

(A.K.A. a writer's perspective bc sometimes in trying to just self indulge I accidentally stumble into bouts of creative genius and maybe y'all will enjoy a bit of that "insider info")

I don't wanna sound like I'm boasting about my writing or anything but I love how Pen and Betty's character arcs, like, go in complete opposite directions, though at their core they are quite similar.

Y'all don't have the full view of it YET but Pentious has led a lonely afterlife where he had to be "bad" to survive and he finally gets to unlearn it, to embrace his good nature and learn what it feels like to be unconditionally loved, not merely tolerated.

Meanwhile, Betty has always been under pressure to be GOOD. To do no wrong, to be righteous, to make herself small and stay away from trouble, stifling a lot of the "real her" in the futile pursuit of moral flawlessness. But bit by bit, through having Pentious in her life, she gets to embrace those "bad" parts of herself and live more authentically, on her own terms.

Ultimately, their stories balance each other out, though both culminate in allowing yourself to be who you are and being happier for it. While Pentious becomes better, Betty gets badder, in a good way. It will be quite funny to see a small shift in the moral center between the two at one point with Pentious acting as the bigger person and holding back Betty's petty shenanigans (iykyk) lol

WOOOH, I am so thrilled to finally post this one! First off, because the colors turned out wonderful, but second - it's a big turning point for Betty!

For those wondering "if Lute is the leader of the exorcists, shouldn't she have a halo like Adam now?" - I actually wanted to keep it vague. Is she? :) Or is she just a self-proclaimed leader ruling over a sect of exorcists who disagree with putting a stop to exterminations? :) Who knows, who knows.

Chat, how many aura points did Pentious gain and then lose for acknowledging that Betty's probably not in a good mental state to be making such big decisions but then caving so quickly? 😭 Though in all fairness to him, who wouldn't cave when being so desperately wanted after years of solitude...

Anyway. Rare furious Betty be upon ye. In that one moment of passion, Pentious realized... maybe his type in women is a bit of a narrower spectrum than he was initially led to believe. Though not in ALL aspects clearly 🥲
