Okay I'm going to confess a lot of my hot takes are about NEO (and there are many of them). However I think one of my biggest ones is that the ideal sequel to OG TWEWY would've had Joshua as one of the focal characters, because he's the only playable character from the first game whose arc wasn't actually finished. The big questions at the end of the first game were basically "What will he do now? Will he go meet everyone? What happens to him in the aftermath of the Long Game?" and the Secret Ending was pretty much TWEWY's sequel bait before Solo Remix existed (not that poor Tsugumi was treated any better). NEO's new writer deciding those questions weren't that important after all and shoving him off screen for 95% of the game (ostensibly because he was too powerful and would overshadow Rindo, according to that one interview) and then them declaring that all the OG characters' stories are done despite literally nothing changing for Joshua was... certainly A Choice that makes me feel many things. All of them negative. Even KH3D realised his story was the one that needed continuing, which is why (to me, at least) it actually felt satisfying for both him and the Hachiko Gang as a whole.

But now instead we've got Neku who was forced into isolation, away from the people he cares about, after coming to appreciate the world around him and change as a person which was... exactly the same situation Joshua was in at the end of the first game, but again I guess the writer just decided Joshua's version wasn't as interesting or something. And now they're both just stuck there mid character arc, forever. Definitely not bitter.

My original answer was going to be that I feel like people's approach to UG lore has got a lot less creative ever since NEO came out and it makes me sad, but that's more about the fandom than the game.

Q. I can't believe this needs to be explained to people in the year 2025, but having feelings for someone doesn't mean love and definitely doesn't mean being in love with someone. Of course he loves Eddie in a particular way. Eddie is his best friend and brother. Forcing yourself to see it as romantic is a delusion entirely of your own making. The show is not telling that story and it couldn't be more obvious. You all need a reality check immediately because it's embarrassing at this point.

A. There is a growing part of me that is starting to believe that many of you all are 100% just trolling because it's simply not possible to be this stupid. If the thing between Buck and Eddie seems brotherly in any way to you then you need medical assistance because if that's how your brothers behave with one another something is drastically wrong.

Referring to Tommy as a bed buddy is not a good thing. There was absolutely nothing romantic about a drunken hook up on a sheet less mattress on a literal floor. They're not setting up a rom com for Buck and Tommy. You calling me delusional is the height of idiocy. You all invented an entirely different show entirely from your own delusion. I understand that you went so hard to the floor for the man that admitting your mistake now just feels like something you can't do so you're deciding to just go down with the ship. Well your ship officially sunk on March 17, 2025. They wrote Buck's feelings for Tommy into the actual dialogue. "I USED TOMMY TO FEEL LESS ALONE". "I DON'T HAVE FEELINGS FOR EVERYONE I SLEEP WITH".

no ACTUALLY ship and let ship. no, really. including Haladriel including Celeborn including everyone.

Checking on the Tumblr Haladriel tag this morning like the Troy-arriving-with-pizza gif...

Anyway: I left the following comment on someone's blog about this, and while I don't have any particular wish to fight with that person or reblog them in a way that might encourage anyone else to get into that, I do want to copy my comment here because 'ship and let ship' is something I do feel very, very strongly about:

I'm a Haladriel shipper who's been in this fandom since 2022 (you can see my 20+ Haladriel fics here if you want evidence of that: https://archiveofourown.org/users/eye_of_a_cat/works) and in Tolkien fandom on and off for many years before. I’m one of the shippers who was on the receiving end of a massive anti hate campaign over Haladriel during 2023-4, including repeated vicious suicide-baiting anon hate comments. I’m also a multishipper who talks about Celeborn too and writes fic about him as well. Can I please ask that you consider the old fandom adage of ‘ship and let ship’ on this one? I don’t care whether you like this fictional elf [ETA: Celeborn] or not - we all have different tastes - but when you start going after the shippers as people, calling us “probably antis masquerading as shippers”, telling us to “be honest” that we just hate Sauron x Galadriel (seriously, do you think I and fellow multishippers are writing all these Haladriel fics as some kind of elaborate undercover act?), setting yourself up as some judge of who counts as a Haladriel and who doesn’t - this is just unpleasant for everybody and makes the fandom a toxic, bitter space.  People have different tastes. People approach shipping in different ways. Fandom is a big wide world.  What I always ask people who hate Haladriel to do is mute the tag and live and let live when it comes to other people’s preferences, and don’t go after *people* because you don’t like their ship. Can you please consider doing the same for Celeborn?

I don't want endless discourse about this. I hate ship wars. I have a ton of messy unpleasant stuff happening in my real life right now and fandom - writing, fun, creativity - is such a welcome escape valve for me. I don't care who likes which elf or which ship, but ffs can we please leave each other in peace about it?

I am always happy to talk about any of my ships or the characters I like in more detail - at the drop of a hat in fact! - but for obvious reasons, I don't do this in a ship war context where I feel like someone's expecting me to 'prove' myself or justify why I'm allowed to like something. Because the point is that it doesn't matter why someone else likes something or whether or not you get its appeal - what matters is the ability to get along with each other anyway.

Some of my best fandom friends are people who don't like many of the things I like, and vice versa. One of my dearest fandom friends I've known for over 15 years has some ships that make me recoil in ARGH NO horror. And she doesn't like everything I'm into either! And we still get along fine, as people, because we know it's ships. It's fiction. It's not a referendum on us as people.

I don't care if people like Celeborn or not - he is a made-up elf, he is not real. I don't care if people like Haladriel or not - non-book-canon ships and EtL ships aren't for everyone. But the fans who like these things are real people who should be allowed to do our thing in peace.

Project 09 – a Tails gets adopted by Eggman AU except it's Nine getting "adopted" by the Chaos Council and to no one's surprise, it fucks him and everyone else up in a special way

Over the hills – is a Dreamtale and Sonic crossover brought on by The Nine-tailed travel guide through the multiverse event conceived by @/Donelywell and mashed with my long time held dreamswap au idea of Dream taking Night and running away from the village after taking some drastic measures that is also posted on Ao3!! (more stuff will come to it in time. I hope)

running from a Nightmare – another Dreamtale au, this time about corrupted Nightmare being set loose on the Sonic world by none other than Eggman and the suffering that comes with it (also fighting tooth and tail to get it written)

the n 'n n's (read as m&m's) – unserious crossover where I put Nine Night and Nimona together and have them be silly (perhaps Nuzi will tag along some day too...)

And because I keep having Dreamtale & Sonic thoughts, I do lump them all together under the dreamtale and sonic tomfoolery tag!!

prime arcane – as seen above, I like arcane!! Jinx and Nine are eerily similar in their sibling and identity struggles, I put them together, boom an Au :D other characters are there too but I need to get around actually designing them....

"Seismic ocean waves are caused by a sudden displacement of part of the sea floor. Often it's caused by seismic disturbances, such as offshore earthquakes." Jophiel says - quoting something he'd been told by someone once as he swims in the air towards the shore. "We have to hurry- and find whoever is on the beach, as they are gonna get caught in Seismic waves if we don't get them to safety."

"Who's not in a safe place?" Thressl says with a frown, "We had been warned that this area was showing signs of some crazy natural potential disaster type stuff happenin' to it soon."

"Someone who doesn't know." Jophiel says.

"Is this some a yer Seer shit again?" Thressl groans and shakes his head as he rubs his face.

"Yes, now come on- we gotta get to them, they have such bad luck, and it's not their fault." Jophiel says as he dives down the cliff and finds a wounded- and unconscious Mer-Astarte.

He's got a very bright yellow tail with white and black checkerboard markings. "Ah! He's injured- did you bring the med kit Thressl?"

"I did- although we should'a brought Cedric 'round as well." Thressl rumbles.

"He's at the Forge with Ramiel - and they are making those special blades." Jophiel says, "And he's not that badly wounded- see he's already healing... He's going to be quite hungry and parched, no doubt."

"I just hope he's not in a Frenzy... or will bite us as soon as he wakes up." Thressl grumbles.

"He's not a Flesh Tearer." Jophiel protests, "Of the Sons of Sanguinius- the Lamenters, often the unluckiest, but are also amongst the kindest of my geneline."

"Yeah, and depressed bastards." Thressel says as he and Jophiel tend to Nanael's injuries.

The Lamenter Primaris Marine wakes up hearing voices and looks up at Thressl and Jophiel. The younger Primaris marine smiles at him. "Hello brother! I go by Jophiel- and this is Thressl we are both Primaris Marines. What name can we call you?" "I go by Nanael," Nanael says with a raspy voice, "... please do you have something to drink or eat?"

"I have both." Jophiel says as he hands over a blood ration and some food and normal hydration rations.

"Thanks," Nanael says as he drinks the pouch of blood and then eats the packaging- before eating the normal food ration and eating the packaging and then the normal Hydration ration and the packaging.

It is a good thing to be a Space Marine- one can eat the packaging of the food and hydration containers without issue and it helps with keeping things clean and neater for clean-up.

"You seem to be healing well enough- but we do have a med kit and some first aid skills if you are in need of aid," Thressl says as he eyes the raggedy looking fellow Primaris marine. "And we need to get up- there is some seismic activity happening and the waves are going to get really rough soon."

"How bad?" Nanael asks.

"Enough to drown an Astartes," Jophiel says jokingly- but also something serious in his eyes as well.

"Alright... where should we go?" Nanael asks as he starts to move and winces.

Jophiel and Thressl duck under his arms and help carry him, "Up! We are going to take you to where we are staying at the moment."

"Before we get there, you promise not to attack the Harpies - or anyone else unless they inflict harm first?" Jophiel asks seriously.

"...Harpies?" Nanael says confused, "What are harpies? For that matter, where are we? I am not in a fit state to fight at the moment. So I won't intentionally inflict harm on others first."

"Oh boy, you're newly arrived." Thressl says. "Welcome to Ancient Terra- we are taking you to the Apothecary and some of the older brothers and or cousins will explain."

“Ancient what?” Nanael says disbelievingly. 

Thressl and Jophiel take the mostly unconscious Nanael to the Apothecary at the Harpy’s nest- it’s closer than Steelix Cliff Base and Apothecary Osteron is helping out with the Harpy’s Nest Apothecarium for today.

“Apothecary Osteron- we’ve got a patient for you, sir.” Thressl calls out as he and Jophiel practically drag Nanael in. “We found him bleeding out on the beach- from what we’ve managed to gather, he’s a new arrival.”

“Get him on the bed,” The Iron Warrior orders as he gestures for a clean bed for them to set the rather large Scout down on. 

“He’s a Primaris Marine, Sir,” Jophiel reports.

“I can tell that- he’s very big.” Osteron states. “He’s also got wings.”

“Yes - Nanael has some Psyker abilities as well.” Jophiel says with a nod, “Um- I’m not sure if he has Seer abilities. He’s a Lamenter- they are a second founding Chapter of the Blood Angels.”

“... He’s not likely to react well when he first wakes up and sees you, sir,” Thressl warns, “So Jophi and I will help out with cleanin’ stuff and stickin’ nearby in case he gets feisty once he wakes up.”

“Good idea.” Osteron says as he continues to assess and treat Nanael. 

Once Nanael is patched up and on a bed- he’s being laid out in a way that won’t pin his wings- while also not bothering his injuries- a tricky, half seated position in a more of a sling, than a traditional bed.

A few hours later Nanael wakes up- feeling as if someone had used his head like a bell as he slowly wakes up confused- he was on a beach talking to a couple of Primaris. The smell of the place he’s in now reminds him of an Apothecary. As he looks around he spots- an Iron Warrior and freezes. 

Fuck. This isn’t good. He assesses how he’s feeling as he looks around and slowly starts to slip out of the bed-sling thing he’s in. He pauses when he hears, “Please don’t get up, Apothecary Osteron has been hard at work stitching you together.”

He looks and spots a younger Primaris- with soft blonde hair and the coloration of a Blood Angel, “I go by Jophiel- and Thressl- the red headed Space Wolf helped carry you here. I know things seem confusing. But Apothecary Osteron is here to help.”

“... He’s an Iron Warrior,” Nanael says as his wings flare a little.

“He’s an ally.” Thressl counters. “And we are in a place that’s… not the same as before, the rules are different here.”

“Different how?” Nanael asks eyes narrowing.

“For one- we are on Ancient Terra- for two, due to the severely limited resources we have- there is a treaty between the major warbands and shoals in the area.” Jophiel continues to explain, “Loyalist, Renegade, and Chaos.”

“That sounds utterly asinine.” Nanael says after a moment of stunned silence.

“It does seem that way- but it’s true.” Thressl continues.

He gives the rehearsed speeches of what to say to the newly arrived. Nanael looks as convinced by it as Thressl was at the beginning. “Also another thing- we are also in the territory of a Colony of Harpies- who are friends and allies.”

“What’s a Harpy?” Nanael asks.

“A harpy is a mortal being that can fly, they can be predatory,” Jophiel explains, “They have some magics, and usually avoid humans… Although they are of Holy Terra as well.”

Osteron is watching from nearby as the Primaris Scouts talk about the treaty and about the Gannet Point Harpy Colony. So far Nanael seems to be taking it about as well as one would expect from a Scout. Said Scout-ling is occasionally grumbling at Osteron- but hasn’t done more than flare his wings at him.

“Scout- stop growling at me, I’m fixing or dumb ass.” Osteron says scoldingly, he doesn’t have time for hissy-bitchy patients. “And I’m not going to hurt you, especially with the hours it took to patch you up.”

“... Whats the cost for your ‘generosity’.. Sir?” Nanael asks.

‘Once you are healed up- you need to be assessed for what your training level is and help out with patrols.” Osteron says, “I’ll send you over to speak with the War Smith after you’re back up on your feet.”

“... Fine.” Nanael says after staring at him hard and glancing over at Thressl and Nanael for a moment.

Hello everyone! I have decided I really enjoy running brackets, so I am here to run a mcyt siblings bracket! I'm personally familiar with the empires/traffic life/hermitcraft side of mcyt, but any mcyt fandom is allowed here for this bracket :D

Obviously, this is characters not creators and this is for fun/entertainment, so please keep this lighthearted! People may choose to vote for RPF reasons or whatever else, and that is their own choice. Either way, I do not want to see fighting aside from civil and playful fighting that is more along the lines of a fun competitive spirit. A conversation with myself. (Past self and present self)

I used to have a tumblr account with zero followers. The blog's sole purpose was to scream out into the void, my frustrations and agony. It wouldn't be tagged, and it wouldn't reach anyone. That was the purpose of it.

(Don't read this. If you were to read this, this will change your opinion on me. But don't worry, you don't know me, we're strangers. Therefore you must have a moldable opinion on me, some shifting post I made resonated with you, perhaps. And that's all.)

There's no turning back, there's no synchronisation anymore once you let go

Why hold on to others so hard, you don't know. Assume them royalty, assume them authority over your thoughts, your life. One day you're going to have to walk away from them, it doesn't matter if they've benefited you or not, you might as well walk away empty handed, with your soul half developed, dependent on someone else, have you asked yourself, why do you need other people's success stories or advice, to achieve something? Does it not set your soul on fire, do your eyes not burn, that you still haven't taken control.

You don't have to be synchronised with your environment, with the thoughts of other, since once you sought after a new identity, does it not sound ironic, you're a supposed creator of your reality, but you're still looking around for step by step instructions, what are you, a fraud?

Don't contradict yourself now, don't embarrass me now, you're choosingly still here

Stop saying you're fighting something, you never jump to go "I'm fighting gravity/physics". If you despised it so much, you'd stop thinking about it, without your energy, will it exist? No. You know that, than what's so "tragically beautiful" about choosing to be aware of this place? Are you a sadist?

What do you try to find?

Who will you find here? Was your family lineage so rich you delved into its root? Let's face it, it was a shit show. Do you have plans of sitting by the lake, reminiscing about your pain? We can do this elsewhere, I fear even the swans might attack us here. Does the end of your suffering give you a superiority complex, who do you think you are, acting all high and mighty? There's a new flow to your tone, you're helping people. How much more can you achieve in this reality, I'd see, you're going to tire out once again. The first impression of this reality will remain our last.

It weren't heaven

An impossible goal, it wasn't our place to begin with, unfortunately if you escaped flying bullets, you should be at the minimum be granted a half assed paradise where you still have to ask a glowing projection of your assumption "please".

You should be glad you escaped it, acting like a devil did the trick, as your sinister walk prevented you from ever seeing your soul being sucked out of your feet, as you rocked yourself at 80.

You're not a savior

You're not meant to be, you might think it's the truth, either you could be selfish or selfless. You can not reach anyone at this state, the voices which don't reach their ears might as well land as bullets in their chests. Just close your eyes, and shift to the fairytales, you always wanted to be a hero, anyways.

experience: Oh boy. So far as writing online, I've been rping since 2012. Started on Facebook, then slowly moved onto here and then to Twitter and then discord. Lately I've been mostly on here and discord though.

preferred roleplay type: I'm a hopeless romantic. I mean, I draft poems and romantic shit all the time. There is a writing partner of mine, whom I have a server with. We leave each other IC poetry for our characters and honestly it gives me life. I actually wrote a fic with them this past summer with our characters leaving love letters for one another. It was super sweet. (It was for Lucian x Shauntal. You can find it here if you're interested in reading it. I wrote for Shauntal.) But I am usually found writing some sort of angst or flirty/romantic scene. I'm..not the best at fight scenes, but with the UC verse, I've had to step out of that comfort zone a lot. It can get OP and Godmodding very quickly. I honestly hate it. There are some exceptions though. Like, if I am actively talking to my writing partner about the fight and what would seem fair, I'm down with the fight. Overall though? I just really don't see much appeal to being aggressive in writing.

pet peeves & dealbreakers:Lack of communication between replies for threads. If there isn't an ideal goal or direction that a thread is meant to steer towards or enough ooc conversation to keep all parties involved for the thread, things can get messy or even cause a bit of a writer's block for other parties involved. I know I offer to change my replies often if it doesn't work out well for my partner, but I'm well aware that there are writers out there who won't. Just keeping an open mind and open line of communication out of character goes a long way. It irks me when I have to deal with those who aren't. Thankfully I haven't had to deal with that in this RPC, but I have had to deal with it before.

best time to write: Late in the evening. Usually around 9-11pm EST. I'm usually mobile but if I have a thread that is important enough to be concerned about, I will relocate to my laptop if needs be.

are you like your muse?: I'd like to think I see a little bit of myself in each of my muses.

I'm always prejudged without anyone getting a chance to know me like Lilith, I have a terrible love/hate relationship with sleep like Belphie and I can be snarky like Bethany. If endos want to demedicalize CDDs, why would they claim to have it? It's a roundabout way to achieve the same goal, it's just extra steps

Endos are literally fighting to get away from CDD spaces, do you actually see endos in the DID tag? The cdd tag? NO

They're in the plural tag, a word they choose to separate from the more clinically associated "multiple" of MPD, they're in the syscourse tags because they're allowed to participate, syspunk is less than a month old and it should be a meme at this point because they already had anti endo as a tag

They are literally saying they are systems that are UNRELATED to CDDs, not that they want to demedicalize being a system System doesn't belong to DID, look at IFS, psychological anthropology, or multiple theory of self, jungian archetypes, or does that mean we should be angry about "computer system" because it dehumanizes us?

And stolen terms? We know who came up with system hopping, it has never been used in RAMCOA. Do any of you actually know where tulpa came from? Like the actual word? Do you know who Alexandra David Neel is? The white woman who invented an imaginary practice that didn't actually exist (What she wrote about is not the same as Buddhist emanation), and created the word tulpa based on another white guy's mistranslation to entertain more white people during the Vietnam War?

So they have new words, they're trying to create more new words, there's so much real, actual research by real doctors into this phenomenon of nonpathological multiplicity in ways that exist outside of clinical psychopathology

Plurals tend to get really upset when you use words like alter for them, they don't want to be medicalized at all, they understand what DID is and say, "| don't fit that description", and they're allowed to say that

If I, a DID system, feel I'm healed and integrated and choose to drop the DID label, no one can stop me, and we can't stop people from not picking it up to start with

Why can't anyone have actual conversations about this stuff, I'm so anxious because it seems like people are purposefully trying to misunderstand and lying about how bad the problem is

"Existing" isn't enough to qualify as misinformation, and it seems the only incorrect and unverifiable facts are coming out of the anti endo community.

First -- I'm glad we can post this for you. I highly recommend screenshotting asks you send to people! It's helped me a lot with my paranoia in the past (did I send that on anon? Did I send that at all??) and it's a good record of your words for later.

I agree with you, I really do. This is so frustrating, and the self-described anti-endos who have recently flooded system spaces on tumblr are completely unwilling to look at the facts. They're obstinate and stubborn as mules, and unfortunately, that is not going to change. Most of them, if not all of them, are either children or caught in a current cycle of abuse with no way out. Most if not all are currently fighting for survival. They are not in a place to accept others; they can barely accept themselves.

People are purposefully ignoring information. People are purposefully avoiding it.

And it is not, and never has been, your job to fix their issues.

These are people who have always been unwilling to listen. They are children who cannot, for their own reasons, listen at the moment. For whatever reason, they are not in a position to accept endogenic plurality exists, and the more they are pushed, the more they will spit up their vitriol on the puke towel that is syscourse (or, worse, "syspunk").

It is sad. It can be scary. But it's not on your shoulders to fix them.

At the end of the day, you have to ask: what is most beneficial for me in this moment? Next, what is most beneficial for my family in this moment? Then, what is most beneficial for my followers in this moment? Then, and only then, are you getting to "beneficial for the tag to see," if you get there at all. The ask you sent them is lovely, and needed, but they are not ready to see this sort of thing, I can guarantee it.

That's why I'm glad it's here: so others can see it.

The last point I'll make is... Please make sure that you are valuing the correct things in your life, anyone reading this. If syscourse is stressing you out, please make sure to take appropriate breaks and check your brain. Remember that this is largely an online issue; the real world is quickly progressing to be more plural accepting and more accepting in general, and there are far bigger issues than an idiot crosstagging misinformation in a niche online discourse. I'm not trying to say this isn't an issue, and it should absolutely be spoken out about, but make sure to take care of yourself while you do. Anti-endos and pro-endos who are idiots online are not the end all be all of system activism. In fact, they rarely fit that definition.

Please do not let these places completely wreck you emotionally. You deserve so much better than that.

I have a little rant lol.

In general, the entire acotar fandom is immature and toxic (I honestly think its gotten so bad since nesta's book came out). Most of these people are grown women and men arguing back and forth about characters and ships. It's bad enough that its been going on for years that its sad. "I'll laugh at the elriels or gwnyriels or the eluciens if their ship isnt endgame" Do the people who say that realize how embarrassing they are? Many people are going to have good and terrible theories but bashing people and harassing people over fictional characters is just immature. I also hate when they say "its that [insert ship] the one who is being the most toxic and weird" NO. its all of you. None of us know who is going to be endgame no matter the theories you have or anything. YOU DONT KNOW. So, please, can we stop this already? its getting annoying and weird. This fandom has made it incredibly difficult to know who the next book is going to be about when its right in front of their eyes. Sarah has not made it impossible to know who the next will be about and I think thats why shes been so quiet about because everyone is being so aggressive about this ship war. I just know the moment she announces the couple, she'll get a ton of hate when its not even her fault because people love to twist her words on paper and thinks she's probably doing that but it could mean a whole other thing. Yall have let theories get to your head and twisted words so much that I think it's incredibly unhealthy for all of you to be acting this way. Stick with who you ship or love and of course, you can have beautiful theories, but toxicity is not necessary. No need to go back and forth about who is the real "endgame".

But there are people - and you're right they are from both sides, as I have also said multiple times on my blog -that go out of their way to start a fight on posts they know aren't meant for them.

These are the people that are making this fandom so toxic. Like I understand, no one person can be responsible for a fandom's collective behavior, but you can be responsible for yourself at the very least.

I have always made it clear what i believe acceptable behavior for discourse in this fandom is and isn't. It's not something I can personally enforce for others, but I can follow myself.

It really is crazy how out of hand this fandom has gotten because other people can't control themselves. If I see an anti Elriel post I don't like (and I don't follow any tags, actually, so I see ALL the ships posting), I have the self control to ignore it and keep scrolling.

This fandom has been overrun by childish adults, intent on being louder than the rest. It's crazy how many disgusting things have been said over just fictional characters, it makes me wonder what these people are like in real life.

At the end of the day - there's going to be a book and one side is going to be proven right. It's not worth all these vitriol that's been spewed across all sides just to "be right". I at least, would be perfectly fine to read an Elucien book. If Elriel does happen, I'm certainly not going to lord it over anyone's head and laugh.

Hello, I came across the 'fighting in Ice Hockey' Wikipedia page and was very intrigued! Now several youtube compilations (Best nhl fights, then funny moments, then best goals etc) and several Hockey AUs for pairing I'm already a fan of later, I'm ready to continue my hockey journey (descent?) - do you have any blogs you can recommend? Also do you have a place to start re teams and or like essential viewing or reading? Normally I can just watch a show or read a book, but this feels a bit different and I don't know where to start 😅

Also I see the is quite a bit of RPF on Ao3- totally chill with that good writing is good writing after all, but is there any like background on why certain pairings are popular?

oh goodness, hi! and welcome to the madness that is hockey fandom/hockey rpf! i'm probably/definitely not the best person to answer this as i'm pretty new to hockey fandom and only closely follow three teams, but i'll do my best <3

okay *most* hockey blogs are focused on one or a couple of teams. so it's a little tricky to point you in a direction if you aren't already attached to anyone. you can find a lot of good hockey primers on tumblr if you search for a team or a ship + primer.

if you have a local or localish team, maybe start there? descend into tumblr tag hell. many of us start out going oh haha i'm just going to read fic, and maybe reblog some gifs, and then end up attached to teams that are far away and spend obscene money to see those teams when they travel close to us. (my favorite team is in a different conference, so they only come to my city once a year).

there are definitely teams that have more fandom activity and those that have less. all based on the narratives, baby. my local team isn't very fandom active on here, so while i generally root for them and follow them and go to games, i'm not fandom feral about them.

MY team is the pittsburgh penguins. i do not, nor have i ever, lived in pittsburgh. but the pens have the longest serving trio in professional sports, and i am completely and utterly in love with them (but not as in love with them as they are with each other). our captain, sidney crosby (fat of ass and genuinely one of the best hockey players EVER) and his two alternate captains, evgeni (geno) malkin and kris letang, are all obsessed with each other. sidgeno is definitely one of the most popular pairings in hockey rpf. i read and write a lot of them. you can browse #fave 8771 and #sidgeno on my blog to get a glimpse of why.

(note that hockey ship names are unpredictable. sometimes numbers mushed together, sometimes names mushed together, sometimes something else, sometimes there's not really a ship name).

some other big ships are travis konecny/nolan patrick of the philadelphia flyers (love these two... they don't play together anymore... theres a lot of backstory there. theres lots in #tknp on my page), auston matthews/mitch marner of the toronto maple leafs (not my jam i'm no help), alexander ovechkin/nicklas backstrom from the capitals, leon draisaitl/matthew tkachuk (more of an enemies to lovers type scenario), and jamie drysdale/trevor zegras of the anaheim ducks. these ships are popular bc they are insane about each other in some way. oof there's so many more though? these are all popular on ao3 so there's lots of fic out there; perhaps a good starting place.
