Oh my goodness, thank you bby!! Y'all are gonna hear about Shanks today lmfao. Most of this is gonna be under a readmore bc I've never been able to be succinct but here we goooooo!

2. Favorite canon thing about this character?

I love how careful he is about when and how he flexes all that power he has. It was meant to be very on the nose when we were introduced to him via Luffy in the very beginning of the series, but like. His little episode on Whitebeard's ship seemed like he had conqueror's haki out of control, but it was a very purposeful flex, if for nothing else than to show that he took approaching another Yonko seriously. Or the way he chose to handle Greenbull at the end of Wano. Sure it was hard to the new folks on his crew to handle exposure so suddenly, but he sent that like 50 miles out from the ship and hit that jerk in the heart with it. And never even raised his voice about it. Idk I think his restraint and how it manifests is a really interesting part of his characterization.

4. If you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in?

it's probably on my mind bc of Bernard Hill's recent passing, but I think Shanks would do so well and have a grand old time being elusive and mysterious in Lord of the Rings lmfao. He's got that Aragorn quality of could be in his 20s could be in his 40s who knows, he and Gandalf would probably get a kick out of each other, he'd fucking love the hobbits I am telling you this. (he also, I am very afraid, has that Aragorn quality of 'doomed by the narrative just not quite yet,' but we'll see.)

6. What's something you have in common with this character?

this is hard, I think he's a much more complex and interesting person than I am for the most part, but like. I think it's safe to say he'd mostly rather diffuse a situation than have it become serious when the latter is avoidable, and I am that way too. If the situation is already serious and requires a throw down response that's a different matter, but if we can avoid a serious fight in favor of a little tussle and some drinks, that'd be the way he'd go, and I agree.

8. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise?

take this one with a grain of salt bc I mostly try not to yuck anyone's yum or argue about differing headcanons, but I really do not fucking like the like. scumbag/villain!Shanks thing that seems to have a semi-popular following. some of that is personal bias, as I think he is a warm, good person who is doing his best, but it also kind of feels like a betrayal of the narrative for him. which I realize is funny coming from the "everything is made up including the source material" guy but here we are. there was a period a few months ago where people were basically just writing him as OP Toji and it made me want to pull all my hair out.

10. Could you be best friends with this character?

absolutely, I adore him, I think he's right about a lot of things, our ethics tend to line up where it matters, I think he's funny and would be fun to be around, he listens well and is a warm and compassionate person. I really like him and we'd get along really well I think. (mostly probably through the lens of my OC bc I'm not like. terribly convinced of my actual in person IRL likeability but in theory, absolutely yes.)

12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?

I've written about it a little before, but I think the reason he let Buggy go without telling him what Roger talked to him about after the execution wasn't because he didn't want Buggy with him anymore or didn't believe he had what it took to complete that mission, but so that Buggy would have a chance to forge his own way and have his own life. Doing what Roger asked necessitated Shanks--who was widely regarded as having the potential to be the next big legend--to drop out of the running almost entirely. He picked up his crew, he made a name for himself, he became the youngest person (at the time) to gain the title of Yonko, but he also spent a decent amount of time having to like. Lay low on beaches and dick around in the East Blue and play balance keeper and chess master until the man Roger was waiting for appeared. There are more spoilery additions to this that I'll leave out for now but yeah. I think he knew Buggy had all that same potential, and wanted to give him an opportunity to strike out on his own adventure without living in that shadow or carrying their mentor's ghost around.

14. Assign a fashion aesthetic to this character.

oh take this one with a grain of salt too idk that I know any of the terms correctly lmfao but he's very like. when I picture boho in my mind that seems very him. a lot of linens a lot of light flowy breathable clothes. It's pirate!Boho obviously but like. The man is out there wearing birkenstocks as we speak js.

16. What's your least favorite ship for this character?

same standard issue disclaimer as the fandom stuff I don't like, this isn't to yuck anyone's yum, follow your bliss what people ship isn't my business, these are just the ones I personally do not like. shankslu is at the forefront, but I don't really do shanksbenn either?? a LOT of captains and first mates in this series read that way to me but those two don't for me.

18. How about a relationship they have in canon with another character that you admire?

I actually really enjoy his dynamic with Marco. There are some interesting pieces of shared history there but overall the like. Friendly ribbing, amiable hanging out and willingness to cooperate between two of my faves is always very nice to see. c:

20. Which other character is the ideal best friend for this character, the amount of screentime they share doesn't matter?

oh please I think he'd think Sabo was a ton of fun. I know there's an age difference there that makes peership a little different than between the other mid-40s dudes he usually hangs out with, but think about it. Two very powerful people who are carrying the weight of part of this new era on their shoulders, who have a habit of just sort of fucking off out of the narrative and doing things as they please within their own personal parameters, who will just get up and obliterate a guy when that's what the situation calls for? Funny, weird, intelligent guys that love Luffy, believe in him, and want whats best for him? Even if they weren't besties, I think there's a lot of fun overlap for general friendship there.

22. If you're a fic reader, what's something you like in fics when it comes to this character? Something you don't like?

something I like: when people recognize that all that soft puppy silly goofy guy exterior, while sincerely part of him, is something that he makes the decision to externalize every day, and is sat atop a deep well of like. sadness and responsibility. there are a lot of people doing a very good job making him a romantic dopey nightmare man without sacrificing that silliness or his intelligence and sense of personal responsibility.

something I don't like: when people start a fic with the disclaimer "Shanks is in here but I hate him lol so he's a lil ooc 🤭🤪" and then he's like. not only ooc but just someone's ex boyfriend or doflamingo or just off-screen doing heinous shit for no reason. Writing a character you hate: can be fun and compelling! I fucking hate Doflamingo, for example, but as a narrative device, as a villain? bar none one of the best and most interesting. Writing a character you hate with the intention of doing a shit job because you hate them? dumb, annoying, and a waste of everyone's time. why include someone you don't want to write about lmfao just pick a different character and be done.

24. What other character from another fandom of yours that reminds you of them?

i'm drawing a blank, I'm going to be real with you. Like, I can think of a ton of mentor characters, but they don't really remind me of him. I can think of a bunch of like. guardian of the new era characters, that still don't super remind me of him. I think again i've got LOTR on the brain rn but the like. Fellowship of the Ring Aragorn is the closest I'm coming up with and even that's mostly in terms of like. the gentle mentorship of the hobbits, the offbeat sense of humor, and that dedication to a responsibility that he might have been scared to face. IDK. Shanks is a pretty unique guy to me. I'm sure I'm gonna sit bolt upright at 3 AM with a list of 20 people that fit the bill but rn it simply isn't clicking lmfao.

SECRET QUARTET UPDATES

I was waiting impatiently for the poll to finish and dare I say, I have never been more excited for the next part- especially because this is set after the first installation. Now, one thing I'm sure all of you are curious about: can ghosts be stanked?

Much like what I said about Akumas, no- this simply isn't possible for, well, a few reasons but that will come later, so you'll just have to wait! (as for halfas, the answer to that question is also being left ambiguous-)

This does mean that whatever happens in the next part won’t be involving ghosts being affected by the Sorcerer’s magic- now whether ghosts exist inside Norrisville, well, we’ll just have to see won’t we? I do like to think ghosts aren't a common phenomenon everywhere because of other reasons

For now, these are my current forming ideas. Either Danny ends up in Norrisville somehow (which would be partially dependent on the timeline-), or Randy is sent to Amity Park as a result of... other reasons. This is a bare minimum draft to say the least and I have some stuff that will be included immediately and the rest will be added in as the series continues!

I will say that Danny’s going to be having a time if he’s the one to arrive in Norrisville. Poor Danny gets to go through the burner during a lot of this- he is one of the protagonists after all hahaha

Though I decided to use this time to explain some of the lore and information about this AU people are still interested in (which I’m admittedly surprised about-), so without much further ado- let's get right to the point!

Also, one last thing before I start: this takes place before the season two finale of RC9GN for what I feel is kind of obvious, but moving on-

Lore Dumping + Headcanons

Something that was canonized in the first installation: not all heroes are aware of another- due to certain restrictions and, well, some magic of the universe... a lot of the organizations basically were sanctioned off to specific locations as a way of maintaining the peace. What this means is that clashing will go down at first- perhaps not between the main heroes but say, a certain council with other groups but we'll get to that later

Norrisville does not have a high concentration of ghostly energy since there isn't a portal (natural portals are an entirely different story; i'm more referring about something like what's at fenton works-). This didn't really need to be said but just in case! I'm shoving it into the lore dump anyway

Randy faces a lot of pressure just for being the Ninja but without the added knowledge of other heroes- he's genuinely living the best life and having fun while still being the protector, though we all know this won't last. I also will say this is going to explore the whole thing with the tengu but I'm not sure how much just yet-

Could someone else be shloomped inside the Nomicon? Hahaha, you'll find out later- I thought about saying it, but decided to hold myself back for now. I will say this: the Nomicon is still a sentient being and, well, who is able to go inside it (since technically, in one of the episodes, Howard did but I'm not sure how far into the RC9GN 'canon' it's set in-) has some rules to it

Danny and Randy are obviously different in terms of personality- having them work together is going to come with its challenges, but I do think they'd have a good partnership going. They just have to get comfortable with one another

I'm trying to keep myself from saying things about future installations lol, but- I will say that so far, Vlad has zero connections to Norrisville. This one-shot is going to be a little different and that's all I'm going to say for the time being

If anyone's curious about the difference in strength between Danny and Randy- well, their methods of combat are different so, do with this what you will for now :)

As of right now, there are no confirmed ships within the series! To be honest, I don't fully see it as important but it may show- just... not right this second

- Kendall knew it from the minute he saw you across the room at some party Stewy had thrown. He wasn't sure exactly what he knew; that he wanted to be your friend? That you were going to be someone important to him? That one day he'd grow to admire you in a way he wasn't expecting? It's like he knew all of those things at once the moment he watched you mumble a sly joke that had Stewy throwing his head back in laughter like Kendall had never seen before.

- He spent the whole night captivated by your presence; the way you held yourself like you had fought to become the person you were and now you owned your whole energy with every step, the way you effortlessly charmed every person in your path like you had an insight into them he could only dream of, the way the dark club lights danced on your delicate features. He never usually observed someone this closely unless they were a business rival or a love interest, and Kendall struggled to know which camp you fell into that night.

- Meanwhile you had grown used to being the centre of attention, whether for the right or wrong reasons, but even you couldn't miss the way Kendall Roy's eyes were following you through the crowd as you mingled and networked. Finally you had to find out quite what that interested smile on his face was hiding, buying two soda waters at Stewy's suggestion and approaching the slim built man.

"I thought you might need some hydration since you've been too busy staring at me to get a drink?" Your demeanor was even more captivating up close, a playful glint in your eye that had Kendall falling hook, line and sinker.

"And here I was, thinking i'm the master of subtly. Cheers" He held up his glass to yours, intentionally bumping his hand against yours, the spark not going unnoticed by you both.

- He'd get your number from Stewy and call you up the next day, inviting you to golf or watch a sports game or some place he thought two men sat together wouldn't get a second glance, his feelings towards you new and unsettling, but endlessly exciting all the same. It would be obvious to you from day one that these were dates, but it would take a few weeks of denial on Kendall's part before he finally invited you up to his penthouse and once safely in the privacy of his own home he'd build up the nerve to kiss you.

- It would be so slow and timid at first, as if he's not 100% sure either of you are going to go through with it. Gradually as he feels the delicate press of your lips against his, the sweet taste of reciprocated affection, then he'd be a goner, leaning in for more and smiling against your lips. One kiss couldn't erase all the years of internalised homophobia instilled by his father, but good god did it make a big fucking dent.

- You'd know from your time with Kendall that he genuinely tried to be an ally to those less privileged than him (which was frankly everyone) but that didn't mean you wouldn't be nervous to tell him your full truth once you were ready. You'd have him over to your place, a smaller and much more homely apartment that Kendall would come to adore, pulling out an old photo album and explaining the body you were born in, and your journey transitioning, and how you wanted him to know this important thing about you before you got any closer.

- Already thrown off my liking a man, Kendall wouldn't necessarily be smooth at taking the news. Don't get me wrong, he'd be so happy you told him and so proud of you for becoming the person you were meant to be, just brace yourself for a lot of "No worries dude, i'm an ally, fuck gender conformism, it's all construct put in place by people with small minds, you're stupid hot in any gender." All pouring out of his grinning lips at record pace until you finally shut him up with a kiss that he's more than happy to reciprocate, feeling incredibly lucky to be let in on this part of your wonderful life.

- Kendall would want to support however you chose to express your masculinity, but you will absolutely have to meet his tailor. This old-fashioned gentleman would take one look at you, know the perfect measurements for your build, and before you can say anything other than your favourite colours he's pulled out half a designer's catalogue in your size and Kendall is paying to have it delivered to your apartment.

- Growing up with a difficult rivalry with his own brothers, Kendall would love having another man around to do all the things he never has a friend nearby to do, especially when it's the man he's falling in love with and gets to take home at the end of the night. Prepare to have him fully invested in your hobbies, excited to gain a best friend and a lover at the same time, the lonely darkness he once existed in fully illuminated by your light.

- Connor and Willa adore you. Connor's never seen Kendall so happy, and wants to make you feel as welcome in the family as possible given you might be on the receiving of a few off-colour comments from the older generation. Roman would have a field day making slightly disgusting jokes at your expense, but given you have a much smarter retort for everything he says, he quickly gives up and sulk quietly away. Tom and Greg would both make some overly supportive comments about Kendall's newly perceived sexuality that would have even more rumours circulating about the two of them. But most of all Kendall would just take it all with a smile on his face, so content and comfortable by your side that he'll let any of their dumb jokes roll off his back as long as you want, knowing he's exactly where he's meant to be.

- That being said, if anyone is being transphobic, he will 100% ruin their life. There is no coming back from that in Kendall's mind, his love for you growing protective in a world that is so unwelcoming to the trans community, and feeling somewhat responsible given the messaging of ATN. He'll really put in the work to not only improve himself, but also his business, trying to be the change he wants to see in the world for you and everyone other trans person.

- One slightly NSFW headcanon: Regardless of what stage you are at physically in your transition, Kendall will worship your body. Feeling dysphoria? Kendall will kiss every one of your features and tell you what a handsome man he immediately thought you were that first night, and how he's only grown more attracted to you since. Ken will happily bottom for you if that what you're into, letting you take control as long as you praise how well he takes you, hearing him whimper out how good you make him feel.

I'm curious, what's your mental picture of Eliot's childhood? I've never been sure how to put together the bits and pieces that we get.

Well, first off, these are the pieces we know are fact:

Eliot's dad owned a small hardware shop and wanted Eliot to take it over. They had a big fight when Eliot turned 18 and left for the Army, and haven't spoken since (though he expresses hesitant interest in reconnecting in S5)

Eliot has a sibling (we know because he mentions a nephew)

Eliot was on the football team in high school. I'm pretty sure he was the team captain.

He had a high school sweetheart he exchanged promise rings with before leaving and eventually no longer contacting her

Then there's some other implications/stuff to extrapolate from:

Eliot is very, very attentive to any indication of child abuse

He was also very sensitive to a man and a woman having a screaming argument and was worried there might be children in the house

He has a lot of sympathy for working-class people, with particular focus in episodes that deal with people fighting as a way to control one part of their life when they can't control anything else, and a big everything store coming into town killing off all the small local businesses

Combining the two I have a general sketch in my head of Eliot's childhood:

I think he grew up in a household that, for most of his childhood, wasn't in immediate financial danger, but they did keep track of all the money they spent. They weren't quite rationing all their cash but Eliot definitely worked summer jobs, worked in his dad's shop for no/little pay, etc.

I think his parents had a relationship that was pretty fraught. There was a lot of fighting/screaming fits in the house and around the children, probably getting worse over time. Maybe she eventually left him or died, since Eliot doesn't mention really mention her, but that may have been well after he left home, not sure.

I definitely think he has a sister, not a brother. I tend to think that maybe he had an older sister? But I'm torn on it and she could also be younger.

I think Eliot's dad hit him. Not constantly, more on the end of just sometimes using corporal punishment/spanking kind of thing rather than constant rampant abuse. But I think that there were times, as his parents were really getting into it, that Eliot was scared his dad might hit his mom or even vice versa.

I think that as Eliot got older, maybe high school age, the store started to experience financial difficulties. I headcanon this increasing his dad's stress - along with the fighting with his wife getting worse. He took it out at home and I think Eliot's corporal punishments maybe got a bit harsher or more common. I also think Eliot had a bit of a tendency to make himself more of a target for punishment (not usually physical) or just straight up get into an argument with his dad to distract him from his sister or mom. There may also have been an aspect of the dad not being willing to ever hit a girl but not having issue with some tough love for a son.

Again, not all the time. Not to the point that either of them would straight up call it abuse, necessarily. And not enough to make Eliot doubt his dad's love for him or to totally stop him from wanting to maybe reconnect much later. But enough to give Eliot lasting issues with this kind of stuff and certainly to want to get out of this town and family where he feels stifled.

At the same time, he and his dad had been really close when he was a kid, and maybe even still were most of the time. This was a counter to the frustration and resentment building up; his dad was someone he could rely on and who was proud of him, wanted to teach him what he knew, etc.

In high school he's kinda the man about town, he is popular in school and good at sports and has a girlfriend he loves who is much better off than him financially. It's an escape from the now-constant tension at home.

But he feels tied down, stuck in this town and hates the idea of working with his dad for the rest of his life. He doesn't ever feel free at home, he wants so badly to get out - and he's grown up on certain ideals of manhood and duty to your country etc. so he picks the Army as the best way.

He doesn't tell his dad about his plans until the last minute, right at graduation or on his 18th birthday or maybe even just a few days before he ships out or whatever. He knew it would turn into a fight (they've been arguing more lately, his dad wants him to buckle down and be responsible/take over more at the store) and he didn't want to give his dad the chance to change his mind. Eliot's dad thinks of him leaving as a huge betrayal, especially when the store is not doing well at all and needs all hands on deck. He's been counting on Eliot and Eliot is abandoning him; on Eliot's end he's desperately trying to be his own person and follow his own path in life. They both get into it really bad. Terrible things are said on both sides, Eliot storms out, and they haven't seen one another since.

Eliot and his sister were never really close, despite his possible determination to protect her. Maybe him leaving like that left her in the position of having to take over the hardware shop, and that harmed their relationship too. Still I think they contact one another every so often and he's actually been back to see her family as an adult once or twice. I think either his mother stayed with his dad and they continued to make each other miserable, or she left and didn't really keep in touch with any of them. And of course, Eliot loved his girlfriend Aimee - but he needed to get out of that town more than he wanted to stay with her. At the time she supported his plans to leave and make something of himself before returning to her, but when he changed in the army he no longer felt like he could return to her.

Eliot sent money back home at first, or maybe even for a long time, but his dad did not accept it. (At first, or maybe ever.) At some point his sister made good investments or they cashed Eliot's checks or whatever, but by canon his dad is retired and living decently well now.

I'm definitely open to other interpretations, but this is where my head generally goes.

The Weeping Monk has become my new obsession. I love him. I knew I would because seeing all the gifs of him in tumblr is why I watched in the first place I didn't not expect for him to capture my interest so much. It's not the strongest hyperfixation I've ever had but it is one nonetheless and I'm thrilled. Welcome the list of "Ace's Favorite Whumpees"!!

So not only is Daniel Sharman fucking gorgeous but Daniel Sharman looking like this?

With the eyes and the hood and the darkness and the scruff. Oh hell yeah! He's like some omen of death with that cloak. I love it.

So why do I like the Weeping Monk so much?

Well first of all I LOVE A GOOD REDEMPTION STORY!!!!! Like so much! I blame Zuko for that. But if you give me a bad dude who's done some bad shit but also has one hell of a traumatic past then put him on a path of redemption and healing? I’M SOLD! And at the end of the season, The Weeping Monk has been set on his redemption beginnings and I will die if Netflix doesn't give us a season 2 so I can see this boy walk his new path towards redemption and healing. I crave it.

But anyway. This man right here. The emotional angst and whump he exudes is so lovely.

Towards the end of the season we find out that he's Fey and I fucking lost my shit. This boy is a Fey who was raised by the people who hate Fey. His people were killed and he was taken as a child by the same people who murdered them. He was then brainwashed to believe he was demon born and evil and a sinner purely for existing and was taught to punish himself for it (he whips himself in a form of self flagellation!) and I'm sure he was punished for all sorts of things growing up by his "Father". The amount of self hate and self doubt he must feel breaks my heart. He knows he's Fey! He remembers his real name (also that reveal sent me to another plane of existence) so he must have some memories of his family and his people. But he's spent his whole life being used as a weapon against his own people and brainwashed into thinking he was saving them because fey are inherently damned. And that's all he is to the Red Paladins. A weapon. But he sees them as his people, his family because that's all he knows!

This dude is so broken and brainwashed and lost it just breaks my heart.

LOOK AT HIM!! Look at this lost and broken boy!! He just needs some love and affection dammit!! I mean he flat out asks "Do you love me Father?" AHHH!!

And oh my god this conversation between him and Gawain?!

Allow me to share the whole conversation because I need to talk about it.

Gawain: Don’t be afraid Ash Man. I don’t bite. It’s those eyes. The mark of the Ash Fold. There haven’t been any in these lands for centuries. How did you find your way here? Have you just come to watch me die?

The Weeping Monk: Why didn’t you tell them? Before...you could have told them. But you didn’t. Why?

G: Because all Fey are brothers. Even the lost ones

WM: This suffering, it will cleanse you.

G: You parrot these words, but you know it’s all lies. I can feel it in you, my brother.

WM: You are not my brother.

G: They have turned your mind so far inside out...that you don’t know the difference between kindness...and hate. Who did this to you?

WM: We are saving souls. Your soul.

G: Tell that to the little ones that you burn.

WM: I don’t harm the children

G: You burn their homes, you slay their mothers and their fathers, and you watch your Red Brothers run them down on horses. And you see it all through those weeping eyes. That makes you guilty. Brother! You can fight. I’ve never seen anything like it. You could be our greatest warrior. Your people need you.

WM: You are not my people.

G: Then tell them. If this is where you belong, tell them what you are.

WM: I’ll pray for you.

G: And I you.

First of all this conversation is the reason I now ship these two. Just saying. Gawain saw that he was kin, that he was lost, that he was broken and reached out to try and help him even though he is the reason he is being tortured. I can’t with these two! But also, the WM felt guilty about turning him in and worried about his own fate but you can tell that Gawain’s words sink in and set something inside of him and it’s because of Gawain that WM is now on this path of his. AND Gawain! I fully expected him to hate this man after everything hes done but he saw a lost and broken fey brother and tried to help him and I just...Gawain is so good you guys! This whole exchange is just *chefs kiss*. Cause after this the WM saves Squirrel.

Which leads me to Squirrel and the Weeping Monk. The other reason I desperately need season 2 is because I can't wait to see this unexpected pairing. I mean come on, big bag tough guy with trauma becomes unexpectedly joined with a young child? Best trope ever. Plus he got his ass kicked pretty bad and I need season 2 start off with that so I can see Squirrel take care of this injured man. Anyway, these two are going to have a great adventure getting back to the Fey and I NEED TO SEE IT!!! I want to see Squirrel and Lancelot bond and Squirrel defend him against Fey who hate him and for Lancelot to reluctantly become attached and defensive of this Fey boy and AHHHHHH!!

Okay he's totally touch starved am I right? This boy hasn't known a kind touch in his whole life. Pain is all he's known. The Paladins only touch to punish him or wield him. And he thinks he deserves it. He deserves the pain. The punishment. But kindness? A soft touch? Someone tending his injuries gently? He doesnt know what to do it that. He ends up stiffening or flinching away from the blinds hands of the fey, confused at first but slowly he starts to crave that kind touch.

Squirrel is always hugging him. Like whenever he sees him. And WM doesnt know what the fuck to do with that. You think he ever for hugged? I DOUBT IT! So hes all stiff and awkward and kind of bears it but after a while he starts hugging back kind of awkwardly.

Oh and speaking of tending his injuries I can almost guarantee that he has either had to tend to his own injuries in the past or he didn't do anything for them at all. But he's in a Fey camp now and the Fey help each other so when he and squirrel first show up at the camp and a he's taken to a healer and at first he balks and is like "I'm fine" but people like Pym and Squirrel and Gawain (YES GAWAIN! I have thoughts hang on) are like clearly you're not so just sit down before fall down again and let Pym heal you! AND then we get a scene of them all seeing the scars and fresh lashes and being horrified

Okay Gawain. He's not dead and he and Lancelot become best bros (or lovers cause I kind of ship them so much. Forget Nimulot. It's Gawain and Lancelot all the way) and Gawain protects him from the Fey who want to kill him after Squirrel and Lancelot arrive at the makeshift Fey camp and he's taken prisoner. Gawain watches him and see his humanity and goodness and self hate and trauma and Lancelot has someone who sees him as a "brother" as someone lost but not irredeemable and they fall in love okay bye

His powers as one of the Ash Folk. We know he can track. But from what we saw what if he's also got some camouflage or healing abilities hes never explored. NEVER EXPLORED BECAUSE HE THOUGHT IT A MANIFESTATION OF HIS INNER DEMON!!!

What are your thoughts about Mirajane x Lucy and Lucy x Juvia?

(I just fell for Mirajane x Lucy since I think they're kinda cute, because a while ago I reread FT and seeing Lucy fangirl over Mirajane at the start...like I get, that she simply admires her, but still!!! Also Lucy being Mirajane's Nr 1 fan is cute thought 🥺🥺 Not to mention their height difference!!! (I think Mirajane is slightly taller than Lucy)

(Now with Luvia...I'm not a big fan of it. I remember when I first watched FT, I was super annoyed by Juvia accusing Lucy of being a love rival, but when they both fought togeher in the Tower of Heaven Arc, I thought that this would mark the end of the unnecessary "Lucy is my love rival" thing. Juvia would understand that Gray and Lucy are simply friends and would learn to stop being extremely jealous and would become good friends with Lucy.

That didn't really happen.

Because of the love rival thing and jealousy being always played as a punchline, I couldn't really enjoy Juvia's relationship with Gray AND Lucy.

But if it had been handled better, I would have enjoyed the "this girl is my love rival >:( -> oh nvm, there was a simple misunderstanding -> we're friends now -> yay, I'm so happy being her friend :) -> ...I just fell for my ex love rival :D" dynamic the ship could have had.

i'm not sure how i feel about mirajane and lucy as an actual romantic relationship. i definitely think that lucy has had a crush on mira at some point in time, and that they're adorable as friends, but i haven't put enough thought into them romantically to solidly make the call about them in a relationship like that. however it is so cute either way, and you're right when you say that they have a height difference! sorry that i don't have headcanons or more thoughts or anything, just i like it, but it's not in the top few i have and i haven't thought much about it.

luvia though? i love luvia so much. particularly i'm a sucker for lucy/cana/juvia because i love all the dynamics individually as well as together, but i adore luvia. i think that both lucy and juvia have different sorts of boundaries and issues that would lead to them being good for each other, like how they both have abandonment issues (to whoever sent the lucy abandonment issues ask i have not forgotten about you i promise just high school is busy and i have so many thoughts and no idea how to word them properly), and especially how that relationship progresses like you said! they fought so well together during that unison raid, and lucy saving juvia from the rocker guy whose name i can't remember was lovely. i also think that it would be really neat if lucy was able to train with and enhance the powers she got from aquarius through juvia, and i'm a sucker for fics where lucy regains aquarius's key and in one specific fic (it's called Turning Tide on ao3 by lilacskye and i adore it so much (also if anybody wants to ask me for fic recs i do have them and am So willing to ramble about them)) juvia actually has a connection to lucy and aquarius through her water powers and the fact that lucy summoned aquarius in the water that makes up juvia's body, and while that fic is not luvia, the potential of that idea has me quaking. given the way that she followed gray after the guild split, i don't think she wants the people she loves to be alone, which is great for lucy considering that she does not want to be alone. she throws herself into finding her friends once they split, she plays with her spirits as a kid because she's desperate for companionship, while she might like being by herself to recharge she doesn't like being alone, and while juvia's stalker tendencies are played for comedy, i think that her everpresence, especially as she develops to be less of a stalker and more dependable, could be really good for lucy.

okay so paragraph two of luvia because that one is getting long. i think lucy's bluntness or openness, i struggle to define it, could also be good for juvia? like. i'm not sure it's as present of a character trait, or at least not one of the ones they think about right off the bat for her, but lucy feels things incredibly openly. she's loud when she kicks the team out of her apartment and she sobbed when she saw levy and she complains about the walking and it does get better but that openness in contrast to juvia's trouble expressing her emotions would be nice. i think they both had similar sorts of childhood in that regard, we just see them in different points of recovering from that? like. lucy was raised to be this noble daughter, married off for financial reasons, picture of children are to be seen not heard. juvia had her mood reflected in the rain around her, which never stopped pouring until she met gray and really felt something else. i struggle a bit to call what juvia did suppressing her emotions, but they both ended up in that sort of monotony, and they both had to learn more healthy ways of feeling and expressing their emotions afterwards. in the show, we don't see lucy directly after she escapes from her father's home, which gives her time to start trying this, but we see both emotionless juvia and juvia with emotions within the span of an episode. she struggles to define her own feelings, she's confused and mystified and then she attaches herself to gray because of it. she's attempting to learn the coping mechanisms she's looking for but it's a process to recover from this that both juvia and lucy are going through, and i think that they could help each other with that.

I wasn't going to reply, because what I have to say is a bit charged, and the least thing I want is to make you uncomfortable in your space, but your tags indicated you wanted us to interact so I thought I might as well. I do have to apologise in advance in case of anything, it is really not my intention to upset, but I also feel this needs a reply. I think in retrospect, having read what I wrote back, this might not have even been about reluctance as much as I'm starting to think that post triggered my fight or flight response.

That anon that complained about Yashahime, I can understand the gripe to some extent, and no one ever really said the season is perfect, there were moments in the season that could have been done better, especially partaining to pacing, but especially now when we know there will be more coming, and that what we got is hardly the whole deal, to act like sessrin is reduced to just that first season is ridiculous. Quite frankly even so, their dynamic wasn't impacted at all, they're the same dynamic we all fell in love with, but they're put in a difficult situation... which, sure, ok... but... that's just... storytelling? There needs to be a story... to tell? I'm not sure what exactly people expected honestly.

Maybe not necessarily this case, but most times when I've seen people say that, what they mean is they see Sunrise's portrayal of Rin as a "complacent breeder", which honestly is offensive, false, and also just weird in the context of both the plot and the dynamic, especially if and when you understand it. Or they call Rin useless, apparently that's a thing too now... in any case, it sets some of my alarms off, I think valid critique is most welcome, but the things thay I've seen spewed around here under the guise of "criticism", hardly really qualify as that at all and are said in bad faith.

On a personal note, and this is more why I was reluctant to reply, people who are overly obsessed with fictive characters' ages make me uncomfortable, and dare I say, outright give me the creeps. If you have that much trouble distancing yourself from fiction to the point where you need to know pixel ages down to the last second since their "birth", that you can't even enjoy a character dynamic lest it abides by the bible, that to me is a big red flag, and more often than not people who are so concerned with them are antis/fancops, in other words, abusers. If the person who sent that is who I think they are, then for sure it's a fancop, and when they say "bully", they mean they were called out for harassing artists and spewing terfery, and despite them outright hurting people, and overall being harmful, when that was called into question, rather than hold themselves accountable, they took to fleeing and painting a narrative.

Returning to topic and to the characters' ages business, I'm also suspicious of anyone at all who allocates time to argue about Rin's age any one way or another, because Rin has never even had a canon age as per the original material, and quite frankly it's irrelevant. But I guess that's a hot take, to say that the fake numbers slapped on a fake, nonexistent character, are fake and have no real importance. It just makes me very curious how some are so certain Rin is 16 or younger when there are no sources to be cited either pro or against. Even with assumptions of her age in Inuyasha, which are for the most part a consensus across the whole Inufandom, and subsequent calculations based on Kagome's age and the timeline, most of the time Rin's age results around 17 if you read an analysis done in good faith. The only ones who age her down, and can't even settle on 1 single age for her, since depending on which of them you ask they'll say anything between 12-16... are yet again the fancops. Most people ship things because they enjoy a dynamic, characters' personalities that compliment each other and so forth, it's never about character ages™ or shipping the right™, most realistic™, most morally coherent with our real life views™ thing, and being perfomative and trying to turn it into that has singlehandedly hurt more people, and been the most dangerous turn fandom could have ever taken.

I agree with you. The first season wasn't perfect. it did have it's flaws, but that's what a first season is. It's to set up the characters and the world they live in. I'm not saying next season will be better, but it has room to grow. There is still story left, it's not finished yet.

You are definitely right about this! Rin is in no way a "breeder" or "useless". It's extremely rude to call someone a breeder just because they want/have children. That is very misogynist and reduces women to basically nothing. What's worse is that some of the people who say that are also women so they are saying that themselves and all women are worthless and that is not the case.

Yes, Rin's age was never specified. At the end of the day her age is basically a headcanon. We don't know how old she was when she married Sesshomaru or gave birth to the twins. She could have been 14 or 16 or 17. It was super common back then for people to marry and have kids at a young age. Even today people are having children at that age. But again we don't know how old she was! It shouldn't be a problem and it shouldn't be obsessed over. Just say what you think her age is and go.

Obsessing over a fictional ship/characters isn't healthy. Other than liking sessrin I have responsibilities in the real world. I have a life outside of fandoms that I'm in. I also agree with you, people who obsess over her age or actively showing their hate for a ship makes me super uncomfortable. It's like "okay we get it you don't like sessrin. We don't care as long as you don't harass us just because of lines on a screen." It's nice to like shows and ships but people shouldn't only be contributing to hate. It's unnecessary and a waste of time.

You make some really good posts!! Can I ask something about DNIs? I know it's not directly RP-related, but I have trouble as an RPer with how many DNIs, with urls, there are now. I try not to interact with muns who have them, I block them, because it feels manipulative? But I'm also tempted to block people who follow those muns, because they probably think their DNIs are okay to have, so they're still "bad", just not as bad? Do you think that's overkill, am I shooting myself in the foot?

I think, ultimately, the answer to whether that's overkill is entirely dependent on what your experience is and if you're happy with it. I don't think it is overkill at all, but if you feel like it is costing you too many mutuals, it might be overkill for you.

I'm a pretty insular RPer, I like a handful of close writing partners that I write a lot of threads with, so, having something like, under ten writing partners is great for me while it's miserable for other muns. I can go wild on blocking and not have it negatively impact my enjoyment, but I know that's not the case for everyone!

And I do, actually, I do go pretty wild with the blocking when it comes to things like DNIs. If it comes off as policing to me, not just something like a difference of opinion or a strong opinion on something, I'm going to block. Otherwise, it's just recognizing that this isn't a mun I'm going to work out with, but no hard feelings. With policing though...I don't want that anywhere near me or my mutuals, so, it's going to be a block.

Because they do tend to be in these odd, like, nested situations lol I totally will spend the effort if their DNI is bad enough to look at the muns they interact with and make sure I don't have future contact with them either. The RPC is such a big place, making it easier to forget URLs than to remember them, but it's also a place where we establish circles of contact, making it easier to run into the same group repeatedly. I feel like it's better for my peace of mind to be a little more certain than not at all that this isn't going to happen as easily.

If that DNI etc. has been so awful, I definitely don't require their mutuals professing the same beliefs as loudly as they are. If you interact with someone, maybe you don't know their pet fish's name or the obscure lore in a headcanon they posted five years ago or the rule they updated without telling anyone, but you do know what is on their pinned post or blog description or rules. At some point, we all visit each other's blogs in dash-view if nothing else when we're getting replies or checking for memes they might have posted, going through their tags, whatever. I do not believe that you're mutuals who reblog from each other often, reply frequently to each other, ship each other's muses and so forth, and all this time, you've somehow failed to notice your bestie mun is telling proshippers to die in their DNI lmao

No, you've seen it. And I find it extremely hard to believe, too, that it's never come up in conversation OOC either.

So, this hypothetical mutual is so oblivious to others, completely agrees with the other one's views while not feeling confident enough to share them publicly, or is scared enough of the other one that they won't disagree...and no matter which/which combination that might be, they're not a mutual I want.

Especially when it comes to a DNI with someone's URL in it. Hard pass on anyone who is okay with that!

If I visited a writing partner's blog, let's say this person is also my closest friend, I value them and the threads I have with them so much, and I saw that in their DNI they had dropped someone's URL? We would have to talk. I'd have to bring it up because it's the right thing to do (and would also be highly out of character for any of my friends, thus very concerning). There would have to be a question posed about what happened here, why did you feel like this was a good choice, and do you think it's increasing or lessening the problem to have that there?

Honestly, sometimes people do get so upset about something that has happened that their worst impulses are let loose freely. When you ask someone you have an established relationship with about that, unless you're being really hateful about it right off, it can help them settle down, take a step back, and see that this is maybe not the right action to take. To me, silence says you're okay with it.

When muns started putting more elaborate DNI's in, that alone rubbed me the wrong way because I genuinely do not think that the majority of that information is at all necessary. It's something I can see and fully understand minors doing, not because they're terrible or anything but because the impulses and rationale are just different. You're very much geared to be as loud as possible about things that are important to you, making them a part of you in a huge way, as a teenager. Shit just is unreasonably intense! But as an adult, I expect that behavior to be different. You don't actually need to say on your RP blog's DNI that "transphobes WILL be blocked!!!"

Well, yes, I should hope so lol we're a community filled with muns who are trans, I'd certainly hope you were not cool with that kind of thing. It's one of those assumptive states, it goes without saying because, in a group of legitimate adults, it literally doesn't have to be said that a trans mun in a group of trans muns in a RPC filled with trans muns would be intolerant of transphobic assholes.

And, no one likes a damn transphobe, it's not like this stunning, fresh information, here. Not making such a statement does not, in fact, act as a welcome.

Saying that, and I do not mean literally just that, it's just an example of the type of things found in a common DNI, is a little immature for me. Some of those things are, in addition to being purely self-validating: playing into the fear created by policing, virtue signaling, policing, or baiting. And all of them are pointless. Telling someone who would already be bigoted toward you and others to not interact if they somehow miraculously ID as whatever label that takes for them to not interact with your posts is waving a metaphoric red flag in front of a bull. Kind of like tagging a post as either "antis don't interact" or "proshippers don't interact." Actual quickest and most assured way to get that interaction!

I totally understand the age thing, it's self-protecting. Most people do respect it, but when they don't, you've clearly stated that this is not for whatever age group. Things pertaining to your writing and/or muse I also understand and think are great for a quick glance before someone even gets to the rules. Having in a DNI something like "muns who are easily triggered by gore" when you write a horror muse, for instance. You're advising them that this isn't a great idea for them, and it shouldn't be expected that you change your muse and topics because they decided to follow anyway.

But it became excessive very quickly, and there is the expectation that blogs have a DNI. The further expectation is that there be a specific list of things found in that DNI, if yours does not include it, you obviously don't have a problem with those things. I really cannot be okay with that, you know?

However, when it wasn't being used as a callout or a way to police, that was something that could just be ignored. Once URLs of other RPers started to appear, it was a whole other problem.

It used to be the pervading rule of the RPC that it is not alright to force other muns to chose between you and another mun that you had an issue with, but now we have DNIs with other muns' URLs in them. Now, it's the opposite take - if you have an issue with a URL being dropped in a DNI, or if you continue to interact with the mun, you're likely to get a callout or be on the receiving end of other bullying.

So, I very much think the self-insulating thing to do is to avoid those mutuals as well as the RPer with the URL-laden DNI. They could just block you, but is someone who was so juvenile as to put another mun's URL in their damn DNI going to be mature enough to do that? Will their friends once they complain about you? For me, it's too high of a risk of being around muns I wish would take a very long break from RP and only come back once they've grown up some.

I would never advise anyone to do something that is erring on the side of getting them into harassment water unnecessarily (as in, not something that pertains to digging in your heels and writing what you want or not tolerating bullying where you see it happening), and I feel like not doing what you are is that. However, I also am a firm believer in agency, even to make mistakes.

So, if you genuinely feel like blocking mutuals of someone with a URL-dropped/callout/other highly offensive and bullying thing in their DNI is costing you so many chances to RP that you're no longer enjoying yourself here? You might want to consider adjusting how widely you are blocking.

If that's the case, try going for mutuals who are what I call Casual Mutuals and leaving them open. Those are mutuals that the mun doesn't write with often or at all, they're technically mutuals because they both follow each other, but that's it. There might be some liking of posts or even comments or non-committal, OOC style memes sent in by Casual Mutuals, but that interaction is sparse and, yep, casual. These mutuals might legitimately be unaware of the mun's hateful, bullying bullshit in the DNI, or they are actually afraid to unfollow/block them at this point, so their option feels like staying around as quietly as possible.

With that last deal...you could even be doing someone a favor, Anon. When I've encountered that situation before, it's come about because the other person's Casual Mutual is painfully anxious, shy, and a previous victim of bullying. They feel isolated, they don't have many or any writing partners, and they really, truly, are terrified to distance themselves in a way that might be noticed. It's a type of toxic interaction that rarely gets mentioned in PSAs, presumably because it is so low on the actual interaction scale.

Giving them someone else in their corner, especially if that other mun is more open about their intolerant stance on bullying, can go a long way toward giving someone else confidence. I've had other people's Casual Mutuals become my Casual Mutuals and wouldn't you know it? After a while, they get braver. They see my friends and mutuals doing our thing without any of the bullying going on, they see us supporting anti-policing and not tolerating bullying, and they get brave enough to unfollow the hateful mun. It feels nice to even inadvertently help someone, and over the years, some of those Casual Mutuals have become great writing partners, too. People I would have missed if I had made the choice to block them by the association of a hateful mun they were trapped in the orbit of.

Just try to exercise caution! You seem like a reasonable person who doesn't mind truly thinking on things or doing the work required to be cautious. Assume the close mutuals are a problem, too, and block away. Build a wall with some razor wire on it with those blocks! Don't assume the low-interaction, very casual mutuals are, though. Check out their blogs for signs of agreement with Hateful Mun, and if they don't have any, give them a shot as far as just leaving them unblocked goes.

I also have to say, here at the end, that it's extremely nice to see that people out there are doing this. Honestly would have thought I'd be the last person to encourage a ton of blocking, but that's the environment of the RPC now, and it's really the only way we can deal with this issue. You can't reason with these people, you can't stop them, you can only stay away from them for your own good and send a message that this isn't benefiting them. Not everyone agrees with them, they're not going to keep having people left open for their attacks or their RP entertainment. And if enough people are just walling them off, that is a message they'll have to receive because RP runs on interaction with others.

They might think they want every "nasty ass" xyz Problematic RPer to block them, not interact, or vanish from their view of the RPC, but I don't think they realize what that really looks like. What it looks like is a huge percentage of the RPC missing, including people they didn't realize were "problematic." We tend to be quieter, wanting to stay in our own lanes and actually enjoy the hobby and each other. That's why they have to resort to shit like making everyone pre-guilty, or setting up traps to catch people out on being "gross."

So, I genuinely do not think they're prepared for the rude awakening of silence that would happen if we all actually vanished, but I am dying to see it lol and do sometimes have to wonder if the complaints about the RPC being dead/dying/empty, not in a fandom but overall, are coming from the purity police some of the time. It's quite active over on the Leave Folks Alone Over Fiction side of life :D

Ro Doneeta was born to Volya and Rol Doneeta, Twi'lek freedom fighters turned Rebels. When Ro had turned four, his parents went a on a routine trip for supplies and never came home. He was adopted shortly after by Kai and Ilyah, a quickly and quietly whispered pact made by the only two parents in their corner of The Rebellion after one too many close calls.

The Awauds openly encouraged Ro to participate in Twi'lek culture. Just because he was a Mandalorian now didn't mean he stopped being a Twi'lek as well. The entire clan learned Ryl and Kai and Ilyah found mentors for him to teach him the things they couldn't. They were never sure if they did right by their son, but they tried their best.

After the Awauds retired from the war and were sent back to Arumorut, when Ro and Kaiyah were sixteen, Ro threw himself into the deep end of medicine. It wasn’t humble in the way that Ba’buir was, he didn’t want to train the clan in first aid or help children with their sniffles. Ro had lost so much to the galaxy and this was his fuck you.

First, his ryma and kora, then his lek, now his buir. Kai’buir was physically there, but mentally, emotionally they were nowhere to be found. It was like he had died without dying. Ro decided he was going to fix it all, no one in his family was dying again. Nobody was getting left behind. For everything the galaxy took from Ro, he was going to drag back to this life with his bare hands.

After a few months of shadowing Ba'buir Nejaa, Ro was decided to pursue medical school on Naboo. It was a relatively peaceful planet, since tourism was most of the economy they were malleable to whoever was in charge. This meant that Ro couldn't just walk around anywhere. The Empire was still standing and he was a Mandalorian who may or may not be wanted.

Ba'buir Nejaa said no immediately. Their reasoning was the armor. Armor was important, every Mandalorian wore it all the time. The only reason Nejaa didn't anymore was because Kaiyah needed a new set and they had gifted their set to her. Ro didn't have this exception so he tried a compromise: he would wear the chest plate under his clothes. The plate was the biggest piece of armor he had and helped the most with regulating his temperature anyway. It wasn't comfortable but it was the best he could come up with.

About four years into his medical education, Ro met Dagon through some mutual friends. It was terror at first sight, the poor Zabrak man was missing nearly all of his right ear and Ro knew it was his fault. His stupid plan to fight an Aryx head-on had consequences he didn't full think of at the time.

Try as he might to avoid Dagon, it didn't matter. It was like the up and coming designer was everywhere, Dagon seemed to have his own gravity and Ro was quickly pulled in.

It didn't take long for them to fall in love, by the third official date Dagon was asking Ro to move in and by the fifth they were married. For his part, Dagon took everything Mandalorian related in stride. He barely blinked when Ro explained soulmates and the reasons they were both all scarred up on the first date. He just asked if 'his Mandalorian' had anyone to take care of him.

When Ro graduated school, not quiet a doctor but close enough, the couple had a long talk about the future. They both knew they wanted kids but The Empire was still looming. It wasn't safe for Mandalorians to be openly walking around and they were both faced with the thought it might never be. Dagon understood that his children would be raised Mandalorian. It was close to the way Zabraki culture was. Clans, fighting, it made sense for the most part. Even though he had parted he had parted ways with his family, Dagon knew Ro couldn't do that.

He had been officially introduced to most of the Awaud clan when Ro had graduated, Dagon threw a little get together in honor of his riduur and the only people on Ro's must invite list was his family. They had a bond that went closer than blood and Dagon knew his clan of two needed to do.

He moved the clan of two back to Arumorut, using the ship that Nejaa and Kaiyah brought to move the stuff that Dagon couldn't or wouldn't sell, Ro never seemed to hold on to much.

Ro was furious, initially. Dagon had plans, big plans, to be a designer and he was right at the cusp of finally getting his own line. Moving back to Arumorut would be a step back for his career or end it entirely. In Ro's mind, he could at least play security while Dagon chased his dreams and then they could settle down wherever. It didn't matter to Ro as long as he got to see his family regularly, somewhere Mid or Outer Rim, he didn't want to be too far in case of an emergency.

The move ended up being the best thing to happen to them, not a month after settling in Kaiyah brought home a little Twi'lek girl. She couldn't have been older than five, but with her malnutrition it was hard to guess and she didn't know. She didn't even have a name and barely spoke Huttese.

They named her Tann, for hope.

A year later, while debating on putting their names with an adoption agency now that The New Republic existed and Ro could get his record expunged since his Rebel activities were no longer deemed as 'treason' or 'terrorism', the twins fell in their laps. A woman had shoved the babies on Jax, who was working on a bounty at the time, she said she couldn't take care of them and knew that the Mandalorians could. Jax didn't have a soulmate at the time and knew that the Donetta-Awauds were thinking about adopting again, so he asked if they would like to add the Zabraki twins to their family. The boys couldn't have been more than a few months old, their skin was more pink than the vibrant red it now was.

Kato, for Dagon's father. Even if they didn't talk he still liked the name.

Ellis, for Ro's buir. It was her clan name before she joined Kai.

Ro knew he made the right choice when Kai-buir cried. It sounded terrible at the time, like he enjoyed making his father cry, but it was such a relief to find out that he could. That Kai wasn't entirely gone, just not always there.

Ro still asks Dagon if he regretted it. Losing his fashion line, being a boring tailor to people who didn't really need a tailor. On those days Dagon holds Ro closer, his chin resting on his Mandalorian's head, "Never. Not once. I've never been happier than when I'm with you. 'Boring tailor' and all. Ni kar'tayl gar darasuum, cyare."

I headcannon Ro as a doctor who did all the bookwork, but never the internships which I believe is eight-ish years of school? Correct me if I'm wrong I just wanted to keep the timeline in some kind of order for myself (leaving Arumorut at sixteen + eight years of school leaves Ro somewhere near 24 when they have Tann, 25 for the twins). I also know that half the stuff Ro does in Arumorut a unlicensed doctor could never do in real life, but in his mind it got him close enough to what he wanted to do, hence the joke about 'not a doctor but close enough'. He was pretty over med school, honestly. Besides, he learned the good stuff from Nejaa (who is nowhere near doctor status, think closer to field medic/EMT who has Seen Some Shit).

In my brain, Dagon is like 6'4", 6'5"-ish and Ro is a short king comparatively coming in at a hot 5'8", 5'9" (he swears up and down he's a solid 5'10". He's not.) Ro is almost always little spoon and doesn't mind it one bit.

I feel like I need to add a disclaimer: did I accidentally create Numa and her uncle with Tann and Ro? Yes, yes I did. Do I really care at this point? No, because it makes moodboards easy. Numa and her family belong to Disney and Lucasfilms, I did not create them and I don't want anyone to think I did. That arc plus the fact she shows up in Rebels makes me cry.

I'll start out by confirming that I'm not a multishipper. It makes me excited to see how the act of shipping itself can make others happy, but it's just not that way for me. I actually never read fanfic until I got into bnha (bkdk is just that powerful 😁😁) I'm actually...a little serious when i ship, or when i enjoy media, i analyze pretty heavily, so also, if that doesn't sound like anyone's cup of tea, i would once again recommend to stop reading and enjoy your day please!

I love analyzing characters and storylines and dynamics, but i will admit, I'm not a fan of most of the ships - not romantically. I think all the characters have interesting relationships to each other, all of the kids are great friends, and I love bonds and friendships so much 🥺🥺🥺

Those first two are perhaps the biggest, at least they definitely were the biggest when I first entered. Once i caught up, I didn't really understand the enthusiasm, but people have fun shipping, so that's nice! I think of those two as easy ships, if that makes sense? They're pretty simple, and easy to digest.

I personally am not a fan of romantic t*d*d*ku for a very specific reason; it feels weird to me for Todo to immediately fall in love with the first person who's ever shown him kindness (since his mother of course). Todo had never had any friends, nor any want for friends, obviously because of the abuse he faced as a child. Mido was his first exploration at a life outside of his father, a life he got to make for himself, it just doesn't feel right to me that he should immediately think "oh, is this romantic love? Is this the one and only for me?" Well, perhaps a teenager might think that way, but i don't think that's actually how he feels deep down, and I'm sure that's something a lot of us have to learn as we grow (I've definitely struggled with my own understanding of romance for the past 8 years). I think he still is trying to learn how to socialize and to make friends and to be a friend (and he's doing SUCH a good job!) But to immediately plunge into romance, which can be complicated, i don't think that would be right for him. I hope that makes sense! I know they're a very cute ship, which makes for fun! But again, I can be a little serious when i ship...

K*r*b*ku kind of falls into similar territory for me? Baku definitely had friends growing up, but he's seemed to always have trouble understanding his feelings and where he stands with others, causing trust issues. Kiri is really the first person he knew where he stood with, a person for him to be comfortable with and feel on equal ground, which i think is such a huge and positive role in his life, and i don't necessarily think that it needs to be romantic - for both of these, i think these relationships are incredibly important, to everyone involved, and making them romantic doesn't make them any more important!! In fact, i feel like them as friends actually can offer a more complex, interesting, and human dynamic between these characters, as sometimes people simply default to romance and then end up pushing for the same old tropes and ignore all the intricacies Horikoshi includes in his writing.

Again, I love Mido's friendship with Todo, and I love Baku's friendship with Kiri. I think these relationships are incredibly important, and friends are incredibly important. People who ship them are having fun, which is so lovely, and i hope they continue to have fun! I hope you personally find more fics about them that make you smile and brighten your day 💖💖💖

Iz**ch*ka is a little difficult, because they certainly are cute, separately and together. I thought they were cutest before Ura was told about her potential crush on Mido, when she was simply a source of bubbly energy and positivity that helped Mido open up and feel comfortable around other people. I feel though that, romantically, it's extraordinarily one-sided, and at this point, i have to wonder if they really are "end goal." End goal for shounen, of course, is hardly ever explicit ahzovndlfjsoxo but i feel like a better storyline for Horikoshi to take would be for Ura to realize that she's been confused, and these feelings haven't really been a positive experience for her. I've definitely gone through things like that as a teenager. Now, the ship can be very cute! They're basically the same person, and they're cute and bubbly! But again, it simply isn't for me.

I think Momjirou is very cute!! Of course, as a lesbian, i sense strong lesbian vibes from Momo, and strong bi vibes from Jirou, and I also saw the ship potential ever since the USJ attack - which i think, so did everyone else ahaovndofjsojfsk they're best friends without a doubt, though i have to say, i really like Kamijirou. She just makes him so soft, and he's so in awe of her, and she thinks he's so funny, I love how supportive he is of her, especially since she can be really insecure 🥺🥺🥺

I also think Ura and Tsu are very cute but another easy ship, and i kind of really like Ochamina 🥺 they're both pink and space themed, they're bubbly and energetic and kick ass, and i think they'd be super cute...

I've said it before, but if there was no Mido (impossible obviously, and i would never want that) then todobaku is where my heart would lie. Baku has never really been shown chasing after anyone except for Mido...and Todo, which really gets at my heart. There's a grudging respect there - very, very grudging ahakckdkfjskdk which i find very appealing! Todo is very important to Baku and he has also been able to show Baku some things about himself that he needed to question and reevaluate. Meanwhile, Todo puts up with exactly 0% of Baku's shit, which i find absolutely hilarious. It's funny to me how Baku wishes to intimidate Todo as he does everyone else, and Todo simply does not care. And Baku wants to be mad, and ends up mad that he can't be mad since Todo is a strong and worthy opponent. They just have such an interesting chemistry, there's so much friction, so much tension, and I enjoy it, particularly since they clearly should be friends, would be great friends, want to be friends, but Baku simply won't get over it 😂😂 I do prefer them as friends, but friends that are incredibly close, two people that understand each other on almost a telepathic level, two people that give each other shit while also refusing to take the other's shit.

I do agree that many people in this fandom seem to think their ship stands on some moral high ground? It could be a disconnect from the previous generations of fandom, or it could also be the growing mentality on this site that everything needs to be a battle of moral superiority, and also that what you like is part of your personality, and if someone doesn't like what you like, then they don't like you or that they think you're factually incorrect. I personally have stopped going into the bn/ha tag simply because I don't enjoy, well, many things i find there, and I'm happy with those that i follow. I've definitely seen hatred and invalidation for both LGBT ships and m|w ships, neither of which I'm comfortable with. I definitely don't go off tumblr for fandom stuff because there's practically no acceptance for any same gender ships, or any queer headcanoning, which, I'll be honest, makes me scared, as i am a very anxious person avdkvndkfje i do think it should be noted that we should be as accepting of cishet ships as we are of queer ships - no debate on this one - but again, you are right when you say that many cishet headcanons have been used to invalidate LGBT voices, and any and all allies must always be aware of this! It is much more often that queer voices are silenced, that queer ships are ridiculed, that queer shippers aren't allowed to enjoy or see themselves. And to anybody that doesn't want to be an ally... Really long ask - Part 1: Hi, sorry for this long rant, but I just wanted to vent since I saw this latest story posted on AO3 and I am restraining myself on commenting on their story so I'm just letting my anger out here about it and other issues regarding fan-depiction of Hawks. It's vaguely related to your post on how DabiHawks or Dabi+Hawks stories make it all about Dabi and always made Hawks out to be the one who starts the problems in their relationship or is the one trying to get Dabi's

Dabi's attentions when it's canon that it's the complete opposite. This latest story that came up in my feed was about Hawks "harassing" Dabi (who apparently has a backstory of r*pe) and Twice helps Dabi works out his feelings. Among the hoards of tags condemning Hawks, they decided to use "Hawks is very uncool in this fic heads up" so that's another one to add to my filters. I think I also have to block the "Dabi Needs a Hug" tags too bc he's always woobified like heck. 

I really want to read stories where Hawks interacts with Twice since they have a bond/drama with each other, but people have been adding Dabi and either making it seem like Hawks has been gaslighting Dabi in their "relationship" or with Twice. I can acknowledge stories where Hawks feels guilty for what he had to do or Twice being anger/betrayed over Hawks' actions since that is actually what happened; but I will not stand for Dabi claiming Hawks took advantage of Twice or Twice and Dabi having feelings for each other with Hawks in the way bc Dabi is a) the one who let Hawks in b) knew Twice is gullible and c) used Twice as bait. Even in the stories that are cute/causal+funny, Hawks is always the one who gets threatened with fire, harsh insults, or guilted into compliance but the seriousness of the first 2 are always brushed off and the third kinda makes me want it that Hawks doesn't have friends bc most people write him as a bad friend who only cares about his own problems (especially the ones that write Hawks like a celebrity/night club person). 

On writing Dabi, his issues always take priority over everything else, his family loves him, and the lov is always chill with him. He's usually written as the fun asshole/caretaker (bc of his big brother status or ablity to cook). Those factors aren't bad by itself, but it's extremely irritating when the writers/artists can give that level of care to Dabi, but just reduce Hawks to a meme who is a workaholic for the government/scared of punishment & not bc he really cares about the people he saves/helps. It's not like I hate the DabiHawks pairing, but the majority of the content (esp the recent ones), are frustrating to read & Hawks' character is usually written in bad out of character extremes. I am really mystified that I'm praying for canon content rather than fanmade most of the time.

Phew! After the back and forth it looks like we got to the end of that! (Or did we?! *Dun dun DUUUUN*) If not, though, feel free to keep the asks rolling. Lol Foxy and I are usually pretty happy to receive as many asks as people want to send even if it takes us a while, individually, to get to it. Now to finally address what you sent.

I find myself in a weird place when it comes to OOC fanfic because on the one hand people can write whatever they want, and I don’t really have a place to criticize them; but also when they blatantly and willingly misinterpret a character so they have grounds to bash on them it also leaves me acutely uncomfortable. I don’t think I’d call it “problematic” as much as a squick? Like, if they’re willing to blow past all the obvious proof to the contrary about their claims of a fictional character just because they hate them, then are they willing to do the same thing to a real person? Usually, those kinds of thoughts are pointlessly extreme, but we know those who unironically and/or unapologeticly call fans of the heroes “bootlickers” so... It’s like, ooc vent fics are also fine; and if you want to rewrite a character to fit the narrative scheme you’ve set up that’s cool as long as its tagged (“ooc [character]” or something) and/or just mention in the a/n that they knowingly and willingly mischaracterized them for the sake of the fic. Just. Don’t. Claim. It’s. Canon.

And speaking of canon, as much as I’m sure Horikoshi knew Hawks and Dabi were going to end up shipped I think it’s obvious that he never was going to canonically write them ending up together, yet here comes the “canon must validate my headcanon” crowd calling him a bad writer because the author had some bigger narrative goal in mind than having two pretty anime boys kissing.

And the worst part to me is, I feel there’s a distinct slice of the DabiHawks crowd missing out on some of the possibilities of this ship by intentionally mischaracterizing them. Like, the aesthetic equal/opposite draw of the ship is phenomenal as it is and I don’t even ship them, but I can see a wide range of possible fics based solely on the principle that they are canonically incompatible!

At the end of the day, Dabi is a dime-a-dozen edgelord - that pain in the butt OC that so many newbie D&D players make that they think is so deep and dark and mature, but is about as cookie-cutter as they come. It’s not that this kind of character is unsalvageable or a hopeless Gary Stu character, just that they don’t often come across as compelling in and of themselves or that they need more than just selfish hatred to carry them through a series. Two kinds of edgelords that can be done well are the “Out of the Ashes” edgelord and “I’ll Pull You Into Hell With Me” edgelord. The first kind recognizes there’s more to life than their sad backstory and getting even and thus choose to aspire to more noble causes - think Joel from The Last of Us. The second recognizes they���re actively doing wrong and come to embrace it - being more concerned with getting what they want than taking the moral high ground - think Frank Castle, aka the Punisher - and even these darker, “unsaveable” kinds of edgelord antiheroes can have redeeming qualities such as meeting and helping a young hopeful and telling them, “I know I’m on the road to hell, so if you want to save yourself you’d better not follow me.”

Dabi actually has what he needs to become the second type right now (assuming he’s Touya) and could even evolve into the first not unlike Kratos from God of War, but that potential can’t be fully recognized until you admit that he’s fundamentally self-centered and a bad person as-is. He may have the tragic backstory complete with justifiable hate at his genuinely abusive father, but rather than using that as fuel to see that never happen to anyone else like it did him - he just wants to get even. He burns people alive, knowing well he’s participating in the same destruction that his father committed to make him what he is now. He doesn’t recognize any of the merits of hero society and is only concerned with burning it to ash. He could use what happened to his family to incite compassion in his heart and take others under his wing, but instead he uses people as a mean to his own ends. He isn’t even proper grimdark - he’s just your run of the mill egotistical megalomaniac with a punk aesthetic.

And that’s still a good character in the grand scheme of things, maybe just not alone! Moreso, it’s a good villain and EVEN BETTER when you put him next to Hawks who is at his core:

Fundamentally Hopepunk!

Hopepunk is about being good and kind as an act of rebellion against a cruel and unfair world no matter how bleak it gets or how badly you’re beaten down. Despite his own cruel past, Hawks still has a heart to help others for no other reason than to help them, he constantly changes the odds to save as many people as he can when he’d be given a pass for letting the cards fall where they will, and not only is his aim to “help others” but to make sure that there’ll never be need for heroes again. He’s an active rebel against the system fighting with kindness and goodness, fervently looking and listening for the next opportunity to do good.

In agreement with you, Hawks and Twice are interesting to explore because while Twice is an optimist looking to make the world a better place, he’s still a step or two removed from Hawks’ worldview because Twice refuses to let go of the “family” he found for himself while Hawks is willing to sacrifice himself for others. That dynamic is so interesting, and it’s what made them so initially compatible and subsequently heartbreaking in canon.

And it’s such a disappointment to see this unwaveringly earnest character reduced to “shitty fratboy” so often. For a lot of people newer to his character I can understand the confusion, but there really isn’t an excuse if you’ve been reading the series, and the possibilities for fics with this canon personality are just so much more interesting to explore, especially with Dabi as his sort-of opposite.

For DabiHawks to work well, you have to recognize that something has to give in either of them. Some of the juiciest, most angsty content is when you have two characters grow close together over commonalities only to be reminded that despite everything else they share, that One Thing will always keep them from truly being able to see eye-to-eye. Either Dabi has to grow past his hatred and relearn compassion and empathy, or Hawks has to lose grip of that hopeful vision he has and fall into despair. Both options are good to explore, but both require the acknowledgement that Dabi’s view of the world is fundamentally bleak and selfish, especially compared to Hawks’. For a supposed revolutionary out to change the world for the better whose a diamond in the rough with a heart of gold, that’s not exactly on-brand; and at the end of the day the issue is that some are unwilling to admit that what they wanted Dabi to be is likely not going to happen and they love that fake version Dabi more than they love what Hawks actually stands for which is why Hawks always gets the shaft in the end.

I still personally hold a bit of a grudge against the DaiHawks ship as a whole purely because, as you said, Dabi always seems to take priority over Hawks instead of letting the two build a dynamic together. Hawks is always the one who has to give, and the torture porn some have made him go through to “make the ship work” is downright disturbing to me. Even at its height DabiHawks content completely flooded the Hawks character tags on Tumblr with some of the same problems that have persisted to this day such as emphasizing their aesthetic as opposed to their dynamic and rampant mischaracterization.

First "I Love You" with Tom...

♡ it legit all started with a party, courtesy of Star, of course. It was supposed to be a birthday party on your behalf, but of course, Star messed up the date so it was two weeks before your actually birthday.

♡ it wasn't that big of a party, just you, Star, Marco, Pony Head, Tom, Janna, and Kelly, along with a couple other friends and creatures (some you didn't even know).

♡ the party had began with you showing up slightly late because it had just started storming outside, and Pony Head had demanded that you bring along some of the best alcohol so she could "try some", but you knew there was more to it than that.

♡ obviously you brought some anyway

♡ it was a horrible mistake😂

♡ once you made it through the doors you were soaking wet, holding a case of beer in your hand and a useless umbrella in the other. It didn't take long for your friends to start off the party with a friendly game of Never Have I Ever. Of course, Star made you sit next to Tom, whom you had a majorly embarrassing crush on😘

♡ you were sitting so close to each other that your knees were touching the entire time. Face as red as a tomato the entire time, and you couldn't seem to stop stuttering from how close you were to the demon prince. Something about even just being near him gave you shivers.

♡ as the rounds went on, you all began to drink for every point you lost. And let's just say, you all got pretty drunk! Except for Tom, who seemed to have a strange tolerance for the burning liquid.

♡ you, being in your drunken state, at one point leaned your head against his shoulder and heaved out a big sigh, breathing in his scent. He had froze at first from the sudden contact, and the two of you were immune to the giggles around you and the shipping coming from Star. He relaxed and allowed you to lean in closer, stiffening slightly to support you so you didn't slump over.

♡ you didn't even remember when you mumbled low enough so only he could hear, "you smell amazing"

♡ to which he let out a small chuckle and glanced around to make sure no one was watching before casually reaching over to tuck a loose strand of your hair that had fallen into your eyes back behind your ear. "Thank you"

♡ if it were even possible, you turned an even brighter shade of red as the group decided that they were all drunk enough to switch to Truth or Dare. You got to ask the question first.

♡ "Marcoo," you drawled, feeling your senses leave you defenseless as the room grew a fuzzy. You definitely weren't good with alcohol. You almost tipped over from your lack of balance, but lucky Tom snaked his arm around your waist to support you once again. Feeling his warmth pressed against your skin sent shivers down your spine and sent the butterflies soaring inside your stomach. Getting a certain glitter in your eyes, you proceeded, "truth or dare?"

♡ "uuuhhh" he lolled to one side, accidentally smacking Pony Head in the neck as she floated sideways from the alcohol. "Truth!"

♡ "oooh okay," you giggled, tapping your lip as you snuggled in closer to Tom's side, loving the feeling of his arm around you a little too much than a friend would. Finally, the perfect question popped into your brain.

♡ Marco let out an exaggerated gasp and placed a hand over his heart, almost causing himself to fall over. "Me??"

♡ but don't think no one noticed the way that he glanced longingly over at Star as she was drunkenly obsessing over one of the laser puppies for simply walking. A look of pure love was set in his eyes. A look that you wished a certain someone would look at you with...

♡ only you were too focused on Marco to realize that Tom was indeed staring down at you rather than at the Starco ship about to sail before you.

♡ "permission to knock myself out so I don't have to answer?" He questioned, looking at you with complete seriousness.

♡ "fineeee," he ughed, collapsing onto the floor and covering his red face with his hands. You could already tell his heart was racing as Star finally returned back to the group, getting a repetition of the question from a very drunk Pony Head. Her eyes suddenly softened, and for a moment, you could swear she was suddenly sober.

♡ "yes."

♡ and then there was nothing but screaming shippers for quite some time. You'll admit, you did get in on that screaming session a bit as Starco finally was about to sail. After that, a couple more rounds passed (Kelly was dared to pee in an empty alcohol bottle, Pony Head to scream that she was pregnant at the guards, and Tom was dared to have you sit on his lap for the remainder of the game). You weren't complaining at all, to be honest. He had his arms wrapped firmly around your waist as you had your back pressed to his chest, your drunken self completely forgetting that just about everyone in the room knew about your crush on Tom except perhaps the demon himself.

♡ and while Marco definitely was going to thank you later, he wasn't done with revenge yet.

♡ so once it was finally his turn, he turned to you with a smirk on his face and once you said truth, he posed the question that would change your life. All of your friends looked like they were on the edge of their seat, awaiting to see if another ship would sail tonight.

♡ in your brain, dozens of images of Tom flashed behind your eyes. All of the times that he was there for you, all of the times your hands accidentally brushed, all of the sparks that you felt and were still feeling whenever you touched, the way that you longed to know what it felt like to kiss him, to call him yours... how badly you wanted to tell him how you felt and how you kept it locked away because you feared that he still loved Star. You wanted to get to slow dance with him, to get to cuddle whenever you wanted, to drape your arms around his neck and pull him close to you when he was angry to calm him down, you wanted to be the reason he was a changed man. You wanted him to be yours. Because you were in love with Tom. Every inch of him, every aspect, every flaw, every temper tantrum, you loved him. It was you, you thought to yourself, picturing him perfectly in your mind even though you were sitting on his lap.

♡ you felt Tom stiffen as soon as the question left Marco's mouth, but you had ignored it when you were lost in thought. Now, remember that your brain was very fuzzy and your decision making skills were slightly impaired and your balance was off and things just weren't making much fucking sense when you looked directly at Marco and said, without hesitation -

♡ the room grew dead silent

♡ Marco and you were probably the most confused of all as he stared at you with furrowed brows, recalling all of the times that you had gushed and cried to him about Tom. You were confused because, in your mind, it had made perfect sense who you were talking about.

♡ and then Tom fucking SNAPPED

♡ he gently slid you off his lap, even though you could tell he was pissed, and raised to his feet, all eyes on him, trying to surpress the rage that was boiling inside of him.

♡ you know Tom, it didn't work too well

♡ he was suddenly enveloped in fire, levitating slightly off of the floor, eyes a hot luminescent shade and a scowl embedded deep in his lips as he stared at you and Marco in pure hatred. His scowl faltered for a minute and for a second, just for a second, you saw a heartbroken gaze casted in your direction.

♡ and that was when your intoxicated brain finally put the pieces together

♡ "T-Tom," you stuttered. Struggling to raise yourself to your feet, you tried to reach out to him, but his burning with hatred body wrenched itself away from you, like he was repelled by you.

♡ you weren't quite sure who was more heartbroken here as you watched him snarl at you, "Liar"

♡ "Tom, you don't understand, I mean-"

♡ but the second you saw a lone tear slide down his cheek, he was gone, flying out the doors and out into the storm that was falling down hard outside. Thunder growled above and lightning shattered across the sky. Turning to your silent and very confused circle of friends, you placed a hand on your forehead and felt the tears begin to pool.

♡ "i-i didn't mean you, Marco. I meant him," you croaked, turning to the open doors. Just as the realization was setting in for your friends, you decided to race out after the love of your life before he got away.

♡ you should have paid more attention during health class when they were talking about the effects being drunk has on your body

♡ you were like a fricking octopus with your flailing arms and wet mop of hair as the rain cooled down your sore and hot body, making your clothes stick to your skin and your hair slump against your scalp. But that wasn't the important part. Trying to find Tom in your hazy vision was the important part. And it didn't help that rain kept making the fluffy trees look like floating bushes.

♡ "Tom!" You screamed. Tears began streaming down your cheeks once you finally caught sight of his retreating figure, standing eerily still in the middle of the rain. It had probably extinguished his flames, for he wasn't on fire anymore. Practically falling over yourself, you did the best you could to race to his side and literally did fall over, crumbling down onto the muddy ground below you.

♡ Tom's expression flickered from rage to concern, but he forced the rage switch back on as he refused to look at you, beginning to walk away from you as you helped yourself up. Before he could get away again, you quickly wrapped your hand around his arm and used what little strength you had to whirl him around to face you

♡ you must've pulled a little too hard because your foreheads touched from the impact right as your eyes met... and you were about to lose yourself in his beautiful red irises before he suddenly lurched himself away from you and snarled at you, his eyes turning red hot once again.

♡ "don't touch me" he snarled, a look of pure heartbreak written across his features. You felt your heart nearly shatter. He tried to walk away again, but you once again grabbed ahold of his arm

♡ "y/n, don't do this," his voice was suddenly pleading, though he refused to look at you, his tone wasn't the demonic rage-filled one anymore. Instead it was... pained and soft.

♡ "Tom, please, I screwed up, I didn't mean to say Marco," you bit your lip so hard you could almost taste blood. Tom pulled away from you once again, only this time, he stayed. Finally casting his gaze towards you, you saw the faint tear streaks on his cheeks and the angry fire still flashing through his eyes.

♡ "explain" he demanded.

♡ shivering slightly from the chilled rain, you took a deep breath and attempted to think before you spoke. But that's overrated, so you just let your drunk self take the reins for a bit.

♡ "when I said you, I meant YOU, Tom"

♡ his eyes went wide

♡ you continued before he could interrupt, "it was and always will be you Tom. I've been in love with you for so long that I've lost track of the days. I've wanted to be with you so badly and tell you how I feel but I've held it in because I was afraid you didn't love me back, that you still loved Star. But...

♡ "I love you, Tom"

♡ at that very moment, he completely melted inside. Because little did you know, he too had been in love with you for so long, and in even more love with you than he could ever have imagined being with Star. You were everything to him, and he never wanted anyone else to have you. Which was why he was so pissed when he heard what you said. His eyes softened as he watched you stutter in the rain, shivering slightly. He must have forgotten to say something because your anxious self kept talking

♡ "I take your silence as a no... I completely understand if you're totally in love with someone else, especially Star, I know I'm weird an-"

♡ "I love you too."

♡ now it was your turn to freeze. Staring at him, it seemed that you were basically frozen in place as he shrugged off his jacket and stepped closer to you, wrapping it around your shoulders and letting his hands linger on your arms a little longer than necessary

♡ you couldn't look away from his eyes, your heartbeat racing and the butterflies screaming as he smiled softly down at you. You managed to grip onto the sleeves of his jacket and wrapped it tighter around you as you finally broke the anticipating silence

♡ he playfully rolled his three eyes, and smirked down at you, the fire in his eyes dancing. He took another step closer to you, closing the distance greatly to the point where your noses were only inches apart.

♡ you could feel his warmth radiating off of him as your knees went weak. Almost stumbling, he snaked one arm around your waist and kept the other up by your neck to help you stay upright. A smirk floated across his lips as he chuckled at the starstruck state he had you in.

♡ "do you need me to show you what I mean?" He whispered against your lips.

♡ you were internally gasping for breath from the air you had been unknowingly holding in. Finally exhaling, you felt your eyelids go heavy as you subconsciously nodded.

How quickly did/will they fall in love? - I think it was a gradual thing for sure! Definitely met during the SnB era and Charles was the one who fell in love quickly though wasn’t much aware of it until later. Pickles had probably become a bit wearier of falling in love then so it took him a bit longer to admit he even had feelings for him. They probably didn’t even admit it until years later when they began to work for Dethklok-

How was their first kiss? -  they probably didn’t have a first kiss until nearly a decade or two of meeting each other, they were really fucking awkward haha-But I think their first kiss together would be sweet; they probably had a really well needed heart-to-heart talk and just eventually, it happened. 

Wedding:

Who proposed? - Charles 100%-it’s nothing elaborate or extraordinary, just quiet and probably between them while they’re alone or planned with the boys. 

How fancy was the ceremony? - Back of a pickup truck | 2 | 3 | 4 | Normal Church Wedding | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | Kate and William wish they were this big.

Technically the rating would be a 2 as their first ‘ceremony’ would be those quick courthouse weddings. I mainly like the idea of them getting engaged and possibly married sometime after Doomstar and before they have to confront Salacia. Kind of in a ‘now or never’ kind of situation but they both would’ve gotten married regardless of the prophecy or not. Though once the prophecy is fulfilled, the boys will insist they have a proper big red wedding

Who is the best man/men?  Pickles initially chose all of Dethklok to be his best men to avoid a battle to the death combat. Though, later on it became safer for him to officially choose one best man and that would be Nathan. For Charles, it was easier and he chose his best man to be Huey Lewis, no explanation further needed.

-Who did the most planning? Definitely not them-the boys, Dick, and Abigail would’ve insisted that they do the planning. Magnus and Murderface were the only ones to actually know about organizing a wedding surprisingly, actually asked for their input but kept it as vague as possible, and despite the ridiculously typical setbacks, managed to pull off a pretty elaborate wedding that they were both pretty pleased with. 

-Who stressed the most? Charles definitely-since everyone wanted to keep it a ‘surprise’ and he knows pretty well that a surprise from them is going to either be really extravagant, out of this world wedding or a Hot Topic Parking Lot wedding. Luckily, they got the first. 

-Who was specifically not invited to the wedding? - Rockso and Pickles’ family for sure. They didn’t even know they got married until it ended up on the Dethklok Minute and they were pissed but Pickles probably got his new family through Charles (if they’re alive and decent?) and by extension, Dethklok so to Pickles, his real family was at the wedding (no matter how many times they tried to argue that to him.) Seth probably sent him that blender as a wedding gift though

Sex:

Who is on top? - Top/bottom roles are non-existent to them; it’s really on whatever they’re up for at the moment. 

Who is the one to instigate things? - Pickles obviously; if he feels like Charles is working a bit too much or they haven’t done it in a while (three days), he’ll definitely instigate. Considering how well he knows him and what gets him riled up, Charles never says no-

How many children will they have naturally? -  none-Pickles is a Trans Male is a theory I take to the grave but I do headcanon he got bottom surgery. Even if he didn’t, they’re both too old (fuckin rip), and raising children is way too much responsibility/commitment for their lifestyle and there’s probably that lingering feeling that they might get called to fulfill their roles again so it would be borderline selfish to put kids into trauma/danger. (Charles spent years basically raising man-children he needs the retirement haha)

How many children will they adopt? - I don’t think they’ll adopt either, for reasons I stated above. I kinda like to think that when they retire or move away from Mordhaus to create their own home, they become that couple that opens their home to whatever troubled teens/kids/young adults need a place to stay, no questions asked. They might end up fostering a teen or two or take temporary custody if a situation calls for it. It just never turns to an official adoption and if the kids stay for a longer period of time, they end up making sure they get put in a good foster/adoptive family. 

Who gets stuck with the most diapers? - Probably Pickles though the situations where he had to watch over a baby/toddler while their older sibling went to school/work was very few and far between (the dude lived through the 80s with hairspray and everything, no smell can get to him now-)

Who is the stricter parent? - I think it depends on the situation. Pickles can be a bit stricter than Charles surprisingly because there is no way you’d be able to lie or try and go behind his back. If he sees that a particular kid reminds him of himself, he may just be a bit stricter than usual and it has to be Charles to remind him that the kids are in good hands now. Besides that, Charles is definitely strict but fair. He’s just as hard trying to go behind his back and can actually ground them (he’s not even their legal guardian, they just know he can’t be messed with.)

Who stops the kid(s) from doing dangerous stunts after school? - Charles definitely-But usually he’s the last to find out about it haha-

Who remembers to pack the lunch(es)? - Charles (though mainly he remembers to tell Pickles as he’s the one who has the time to make it in the mornings)

Who is the more loved parent? - They both are for their own reasons! Charles is loved for helping them with advice, homework, whatever they need and being the stricter parent needed for the troubled kids’ lives and Pickles is loved for being the laidback parent who genuinely takes interest in their interests and helps encourage them to follow their dreams.

Who is more likely to attend the PTA meetings? Neither; both are too busy in their own lives. Charles tried once for the hell of it. He realized it was the most difficult meeting he had ever sat through, even hosting meetings for Dethklok. Never again.

Who cried the most at graduation? - Pickles; he’s especially emotional about it if it’s the most troubled kids that invited them. Very proud of all the kids who remembered them enough to invite them to their graduations.

Who is more likely to bail the child(ren) out of trouble with the law? - Pickles-but he might fuck up in the process and Charles would have to bail them both out of jail-

Cooking:

Who does the most cooking? - There are klokateers for it but Charles does sometimes like to surprise Pickles with some of his favorite food!

Who is the pickiest in their food choice? - Charles; Pickles’ food palette is non-existent so he’s willing to eat anything. Charles? Not so much.

Who does the grocery shopping? - Neither; thank god for living in Mordhaus- (And even after that, they just hire someone to do it for them-)

How often do they bake desserts? - Fairly often, it’s become a pretty quick date night for them! They like to make macaroons, pies, or whatever they have their heart set and just enjoy the next few hours of getting some quality alone time.

Are they more of a meat lover or a salad eater? - Meat all the way-

Who is more likely to surprise the other(s) with an anniversary dinner? - Charles once again! Though Pickles does surprise with an anniversary dessert. It’s not really a surprise if they both know the other will cook them something but it’s the thought that counts!

Who cleans the room? - Charles cleans his own room, Pickles gets a klokateer to do it though recently he’s been cleaning his own room? Wow, Charles is rubbing off on him.

Who cleans up after the pets? - They don’t have pets but it’d probably be Pickles.

Misc:

Who takes the longer showers/baths? - Charles; he knows self-care very well and often makes sure his schedule has a few hours to himself so he can do just that! Definitely has fallen asleep in the bathtub more than once but Pickles luckily memorized his schedule haha

Who takes the dog out for a walk? - They both would! By the time they adopt a dog, they probably both would have time to do it together :)

How often do they decorate the room/house for the holidays? - They hate the idea of it; probably hire klokateers or whoever to do it for them-

What are their goals for the relationship? - They just want to be able to complete the other without overstepping boundaries. There are probably things that both are afraid of bringing up or reminding the other. It’s no longer become a game of walking on eggshells because they have known each other for so long and know what their intentions will be. They aren’t going to change the other unless the other genuinely wants to change. They will simply help fill in the gaps the other lacks so naturally like they fit in together. 

Who is most likely to sleep till noon? - Pickles, not that Charles lets him anyway-

Who plays the most pranks? - Pickles but even then the pranks are pretty rare or more of ways to get Charles out of the office (’Hey Charlie, Nathan is tryin’ to sneak a whale in his room again’ But then it turns out that Nathan really tried doing that so who knows if it was even a prank-)

What HP ships/dynamics do you like? Cause I'm especially curious to hear your thoughts on other potentially "darker" pairings (ie dumbledore/grindelwald, hermione/bellatrix, tom riddle/any protagonist, etc) as well as the canon ones lol

Oh, I’m all for darker pairings wheresoever they appear (there’s a reason tomione is my unwavering harry potter otp)! 

I suppose though to answer this I’ll have to cop to one of my most entrenched shipping habits across fandoms-- I tend to glom onto one female character that I like, and then exclusively read shippy fic involving that one female character, so in general almost all of my strong ship feelings are about either m/f or f/f ships, and in Harry Potter, almost all of my preferred ships are Hermione-centric. 

Tomione is by far and away my favorite-- I have an unquenchable thirst for cat-and-mouse games, especially when the mouse wins, and for dynamics that are almost more, enemies-who-are-also-lovers even moreso than enemies to lovers, or like, dark dynamics where the heroine has to decide to overcome the villain-love-interest even though she loves the monster. 

I have read some Bellatrix/Hermione-- I’m interested in the ship, but just haven’t found any fics that grabbed me, so it may just be a matter of waiting for the right fic to come along. I think Bellatrix is difficult to write though, because she’s completely off her bird like at all times, and not in a sexy this-person-is-secretly-insane! way that I so enjoy in other ships (*cough* tomione).

I’ll pretty much read any darkships involving Hermione, all it pretty much has to do is appear in front of me and I won’t be able to help myself-- I’ve read Hermione x Pansy, Hermione x Barty Crouch, Jr (it was good), Hermione x Greyback (I see the fucked up thing and I click it, I can’t help myself) 

Other than tomione the only other ships I regularly read are dramione and remione. 

I have a thing for depressing post-war fics where Draco and Hermione are both  incredibly lost and they end up together somehow, two lonely people who realize that they can be less lonely together. I love Draco in the Muggle world. I do headcanon that he had a sick fascination with her at Hogwarts, that could be the seed for something else, but I tend to be skeptical that Hermione would have reciprocated (except of course she is wildly susceptible to good looks, so it’s not that hard to convince me that she could be ruefully aware of Draco’s charms). I have a hard time finding Dramione fics that I like though because I’m so picky about their dynamic. The power dynamic struggle I usually so relish in other ships isn’t really possible here, because I can’t be convinced that Hermione wouldn’t trounce Draco in an instant. She’s decidedly smarter and more magically gifted and preternaturally competent. Draco might show some ingenuity (the vanish cabinet??) but stories tend to lose me when they pretend that this dynamic should be about power-- it’s not, it’s really more about emotion and alienation and finding connection. I really do enjoy this though under the right circumstances. 

I don’t know why I sometimes read remione, because snape x hermione really squicks me too much to ever actually read it (which is a shame, because I think there might be some really great fic there). I think I read a fic where alt!teenage!remus got sent into the 5th year timeline through accidental magical means and it really worked. I was down and it’s embedded the ship into my thoughts forever. 

I like the idea of Harry/Hermione in general but I haven’t really found any fic that scratches that itch in the way that I would be looking for. I’m fond of EWE in general and fine with Harry/Ginny, but Harry/Hermione had legs. 

I’m inexplicably squicked by Lucius x Hermione as well. Not sure why. 

I don’t really have many other ship thoughts. I’m net neutral on dumbledore/grindelwald, because as I mentioned, I really only read about Hermione or occasionally genfic about Harry himself. 

I did originally find out about tomione because I had just finished re-reading Chamber of Secrets and was like, WHAT ABOUT TOM AND GINNY? But then I promptly found the brilliant War Paint by provocative_envy and that was that, never worried about it again.

it was pretty frustrating that for multiple years of working with the rebels, you two never ended up truly crossing paths or being assigned on anything together. UNTIL

when you got the assignment you just about bounced around the room. a mission sending their best intelligence officer and their best spy? why hadn’t they thought of it before?

you guys barely said four words to each other for the first day. he was quiet in the first place and you sure weren’t gonna start talking first. it felt awkward and you were quite afraid that you’d end up accidentally saying a little too much and revealing that you knew just a little too much about him.

day two of the mission was a big day. you two ALMOST got caught. they saw right through your initial disguises. you took out a couple of the hostiles and RAN down the crowded streets. but as crowded as it was, there was just no way to escape with them so hot on your tail. no side streets either. that’s when your training kicked in. you grabbed his arm, pulling him into the closest alley, and pulled the hood up on his jacket to completely cover your faces as you kissed him hard.
