Synopsis:

With Cas gone, Jack vanished, and Dean in turmoil, Sam turns to therapy to cope. His search for answers leads him to the bunker’s surveillance footage, where he uncovers startling evidence that casts doubt on Dean’s account of Cas’s death... and Dean's sanity. Determined to restore a semblance of normalcy, Sam gets them back on the road. But their case takes a terrifying turn when Chuck appears with a chilling revelation: the universe is targeting them in a deadly Final Destination-style game of fate. As Sam grapples with his own fears and a world seemingly set against them, he clings to the hope that reuniting his fractured family will be the key to overcoming their darkest challenges. Maybe once they’re all back together, they won’t need therapy at all.

Ch 15/ Epilogue (~17000 words, ~68 minutes) - Then, Dean welcomed Cas back from The Empty. Now, they deal with the fallout.

I know this theory is going to sound weird, or at least I don’t have enough sources or evidence to comfirm it, but I think that William designed the four principal animatronics from sister location based on his family and were suposed to be gifts from them, but due to...ehem...some problems during their creation (Evan’s death) they were changed in some way. 

I’ll explain why I think that:

1) Circus Baby for Elizabeth: confirmed by the canon so I don’t have to explain this one. The original design didn’t have the death trap, but well, things change after you lose one of your kids. Woops. 

2) Ballora for Ms. Afton: is heavely implied that Ballora’s song are Ms. Afton’s feelings about his husband. Now, do I think that she’s possesing Ballora? No, it wouldn’t make sense. Do I think that she could have wrote the lyrics after Evans’ death, after she and her husband were starting to grow appart, as a last call for William to do something? Porbably. Also, I think that (maybe) Ms. Afont was (maybe) the one who wrote the songs for the shows and music boxes. I don’t really have evidence for that, more that it would explain why the song she wrote could be played by Ballora, or that I like the idea that the music boxes you hear in the game are Ms. Afton worn-out creations that still acompany the annimatronics her husband build, even if she left him years ago. 

3) Funtime Freddy for Evan/Crying Child: if Freddy was Evan’s favorite animatric, maybe William wanted to gift his son a new version for his birthday. That’s why Funtime Freddy has lines like “Oh, birthday boy!”. Also, Evan could have seen the animatronic in his father office, but it wasn’t ready, so Evan got so scared of the half-built thing that he’s now afraid of the animatronics. 

4) Funtime Foxy for Michael: so, this one is the “michael used foxy’s mask so maybe foxy was his favorite”, but here is where I add (imagine I’m saying this in a dramatic voice): NOT ONLY BROS AND HOES AN NB FOLKS! Funtime Foxy is one of the most agressive annimatronics, and who was also agressive? Yep, Michael. Yeah, I know all foxys are pretty agressive during the games, but just imagine william resentment for his son after evan’s death was so deep that he decided to increase funtime foxy brutality and make it the most violent. 

Does this means something to the plot? Probably not. Do I think this could be a cool detail that shows that the Afton family once cared about each other, which adds angst to the story if william’s gift for them twisted from their original design to monsters? Hell yeah. 

I have no one to talk about this theories, so sorry, I needed to infodump somewhere.

Sometimes I'll be trying to analyze the power dynamics of a scene by looking at blocking and camera height, only to get distracted by the framing and pretty colours. And that's okay.

See below for a sneak peek at my notes for the "thank you" analysis essay (no promises that I'll ever finish and post it, but I have been working on it):

I'm making the executive decision to ignore the foreground/reflection elements of Peter’s coverage, because that would also involve editing choices and that opens up too many variables for something that isn’t even directly related to the analysis at hand. The fact that there isn’t a single reflection-less shot of Jennings’ face, denoting his duplicity (as well as the brightly-coloured reflections probably referencing the distraction tactics employed in politics), is more of a fun fact than a relevant one.

(There’s also a reflection when Dylan pokes his head in, but it disappears in the shot of Peter walking through the door. I have to conclude that this was a deliberate choice to indicate Dylan’s deceit in pretending he doesn’t know Peter.)

Back to the power dynamics, it appears that everyone’s shot at a low angle, thought the degree varies. This does seem to be a pretty common theme in WC cinematography. Jennings goes from moderately low angle, same as Peter, to just slightly lower than his eyeline when he sits down. It’s a physically logical change, and maintains that while he's putting himself in a physically inferior position, he has not actually lost power in this exchange.

Conclusion: filmmaking techniques do not appear to be relevant to this particular analysis. The blocking is of interest, however it is not pertinent enough to the purpose of “thank you” as an opening line; it can be easily folded into a general summary of the scene’s tactics.

Oh look, it seems like there's a Republican-led movement to purge voter rolls in the lead-up to the election! It's almost as if your vote matters and they don't want you to vote! Anyway, I whipped up a quick map (based on this) that shows when the voter registration deadline is in each state. There are a few deadlines coming up in the next week or so.

If you live in a state that regularly purges voter rolls for infrequent voters (the orange ones in the first map), or if you moved recently, it's good to check if you're still registered to vote.

Vote.org makes it super easy to check your registration: https://www.vote.org/am-i-registered-to-vote/

Just put in your address and DOB and they'll tell you whether you're registered. (And they give you a quick link to register online if it turns out that you're not! Only the 9 states in white on my map don't have online registration, and for those they provide instructions on how to do it via mail or in person.) If you want an extra verification, find your state's election website and double-check there.

So yeah, give yourself peace of mind -- do a quick check. :)

Keep seeing the (extremely correct) posts about keeping your stuff on physical media - CDs, DVDs, blu-rays, books, etc.

And yes, 100%, do not get rid of your physical media in favor of streaming. I did some of that about a decade or so ago before I learned better and there are books and CDs I now need to find again.

But something that I see a lot of people dismiss is that the digital versions are more convenient. Taking ebooks to travel is so much better than taking up half your backpack, having digital music is genuinely better than swapping out discs

The thing is, it's not mutually exclusive. Rip your CDs and DVDs but keep the discs - you can toss the cases in favor of more condensed storage and leave them in your closet until you need them again. Strip the DRM from your ebooks - you paid for them the same way you'd have paid for physical paper tree-based versions - and burn them to CDs as well for safekeeping.

You can play MP3s just as easily as Spotify in cars and in much the same way, and you can stream movie files from your computer to your TV just as easily. Tech can be both convenient and for personal preservation - you can do both.

Keep your physical stuff because streamers can just get rid of anything at any time, but you absolutely can keep the convenience of the modern digital era at the same time.

I spent several months last year digitizing the roughly 1200 discs that we've accumulated for the past thirtyish years - music, movies, TV - and it was not only the most fun project I took on, it's been the most rewarding because we have movies that aren't available to stream. But I can stream it to my TV with director's commentary any time I want.

Also increasingly aware that a LOT of people "manage" getting through the 40+ hour work week by sleeping less than is healthy and relying on stimulants like coffee and energy drinks to keep them going.

For people who are unwilling or unable to do this...work really does just dominate your life. Like we really should not have to rely on unhealthy practices just to have a social life or keep on top of housework or whatever.

I know I post about this a lot but I'm so TIRED all the time and it's just so depressing that this is how we're expected to spend the one life we have.
