I am NOT imagining this as Strickler's song in a Trollhunters musical. I am NOT.

gets in charge of the bookshop for 1 (one) day: shows up in a cardigan vest and metal sleeve garters, keeps the shop CLOSED, avoids selling a single book... iconic, truly did THE MOST, 10/10 😩👌🏻
(also, the way he was this 🤏🏻 close to finally achieving the status of house husband he's been dreaming about for MILLENIA just to have the rug pulled out from under him last minute... truly DEVASTATING 😩 my girl really can't catch a break 🤧)

Last night I dreamed I baked banana bread.
But not just any banana bread.
I dreamed that I made the banana bread like normal. But then!
Then I thinned some peanut butter with milk (????) and melted some chocolate and thinned that with milk, too, and then put them into separate baggies, and put those baggies into a third baggie so their corners were all aligned. I cut the overlapping corner to make a squeezy bag like for frosting where they would both come out together but not mixed, and then I dipped the tip of it into the banana bread batter and swirled peanut butter and chocolate into it.
THEN I baked it.
I explained my dream to my neighbor and she gave me bananas and told me to make my dreams come true. So. I'm gonna try it tomorrow.

Shape-shifters, face-blindness, and "paying attention to others"
The shapeshifter is one of my favourite "monster of the week" episodes because it showcases how differently Laios processes social information than the rest of the party. It reminds me a lot of the strategies I, faceblind name-forgetter and eye-contact avoider, use to recognize people and learn things about them.
We see Laios clearly fail at recognizing the doubles through "standard" social cues that are perceived as "easy to tell", such as their clothes. This makes the team (unfairly, but understandably) weary of his ability to tell the fakes apart and even worried that he'd prefer the monster versions* over them. Nonetheless, he gives it a try!
...And is immediately overwhelmed. His lack of attention to social cues works a bit in his favor, though, as it makes it harder for him to fall for stereotypes that fool the rest of the group.
Instead, he chooses to rely on his strengths and use his investigation and animal handling skills to distract the shapeshifters, lure out the monster, and roll the most insane balls-to-the-wall intimidation check of all time.
If it had ended there it still would have been a great episode that showcases Laios' strategic mind and his strengths as a leader. He doesn't have the social skills necessary for the task, but he is clever and creative enough to use the skills he does have proficiency in to solve the problem*.
However, what makes this episode so dear and near to my faceblind heart is the revelation that Laios was able to recognize the real party members after all.
Laios is fantastic representation of how special interests actually work for a monotropic interest system. Having a special interest is not just about how much you like it and the need to know everything about it, it's a way of processing and filtering information. Laios' special interest is monsters: his skills as a dungeoneer and party leader are acquired for and informed by his desire to interact with monsters, as is his interest in eating them. He actually brings this up himself when comparing his interest in cooking to Senshi's.
And in this episode, we see that this also extends to his friends. Laios hacks one of the most difficult types of information for him to process by routing it through the lens of the special interest. And, because it's not something most people would notice, it works. He knows that Chilchuck wouldn't let his guard down around a potential mimic, that Senshi values a balanced ecosystem, that (my favourite) Marcille just isn't as thoughtful about monsters as he is.
It might not be what was expected, but it did the trick! And what's more, the narrative validates his way of thinking (even if Chilchuck doesn't).

You know, it would be amazing if Hollywood learned the right lesson from the success of Nimona. Something like "Hey, maybe don't throw out a nearly done movie as a tax write off" or "people want queer stories" or even "don't be afraid to take some storytelling risks and be original" but you just know they're going to come away with some absolutely batshit takeaway like, "next time delete all the evidence and burn it to the ground so the gays can't make us look bad!"

so here is a rambly post of my latest gaming escapades, because i want to :D
made it to winter with my challenge sims family! potential future husband guy already went through an "i hate this girl for no apparent reason" phase and then a day later he asked my girl to move in so that was kinda funny XD now he gets to be a part-time fisherman, hopefully we can have a sunshine-filled spring wedding :D (yes they are engaged because my gal has no chill and went from "i wanna break up with him" to "marry this man right this instant"... whims are weird in this game.) i really enjoy making graphics for this challenge too, canva is fun :3
downloaded oldschool runescape so that i may play with the boy and made it crash almost immediately, so i uninstalled it because it looked like the whole thing was beyond saving... will need to reinstall it at some point when i remember XD dunno if i can keep playing the game though, i keep forgetting just like my daily picross challenge :"D
maybe you would think that downloading an mmo on a new pc wouldn't effect things like hotbar layout, then you'd be wrong as far as ffxiv is concerned :D it could be client side settings but like... why? and also the saved gear loadouts disappeared too, why are those client-side? but yea almost died to enemies several levels under me because i couldn't find my spells, i guess habits die hard even if you don't touch a game for months XD props to the random person offering help though, sometimes the mmo aspect of an mmo isn't that bad (except when i gotta do a bossfight with others for the story quest, do not like that). also i'm always so amused that my girl looks like Y'shtola but green/moon, clearly chose the best hair and catgirl the game has to offer XD
switch games are on a bit if a pause right now, mostly because new pc shiny, but also i really don't wanna fight Phantom Ganon just yet and need to find the motivation to go somewhere else in Hyrule. also also i'm nearing my initial ragequit moment in Óperencia and i'm not sure i'm levelled right for it this time either so yea, kinda scared of it :"D
also planning on replaying the Bioshock series because i need me some of my favourites to keep me afloat :3
there is a Pinoccio soulslike in the works and i really want to play it, it looks so nice and ✨️aesthetics✨️ :"D
