Yeah, I have hyperempathy myself but I've noticed as I learn more about how my autism works that if I'm stressed out enough, or unwell, or overstimulated, etc etc - my empathy drops to zero, as well. I've learned to compensate for this by practicing cognitive empathy and compassion during it. I've always been like that, even before my (admittedly late) autism diagnosis. I used to think there was something wrong with me, that it made me a monster, and so I'd just completely isolate during those times so I didn't risk hurting anyone unwillingly. After my diagnosis and realizing what it was, I read up on cognitive empathy and do that now, instead.
But because I've always been like that, I've always been very sympathetic to those who don't experience empathy by default. In the vast majority of cases, they're always very kind and constantly worried that they're some monster or will hurt someone, which never happens. I've met very few who use that as an excuse to mistreat people, and those people had other untreated mental illnesses going on, not autism.
Autistic spaces are getting so much more hostile towards people with low empathy, and it sucks
There was a subreddit I really liked, people were chill, and then there was a sudden influx of people making posts like ‘Autistic people have empathy! Saying we don’t makes us seem like monsters! Thats not a symptom!’ And people making posts explaining that no, actually, some of us do have low empathy got attacked and told they were wrong or ableist? And it sucks, because its just so hard to find a place to exist where you can be seen as not evil? I don’t know, it just hurts a lot to be told that

After the hospital bombing, I finally heard back from my grandmother and confirmed that several of my relatives were murdered by Israeli bombing. Seven of them, to be precise. Three are still going, including her. We've been talking constantly ever since.
Asked if it was possible to head south, and was told they did but were also bombed there. So they decided to go back home, in Zeitoun. Their home was bombed and they were pulled out of the rumble, then driven by ambulances to the al-Ahli Arab Hospital. There were people in every corner. Gazans sheltering, sleeping on the floor. Gazans dying on the floor, waiting for beds.
Four were declared dead on arrival, three were in need of surgery and other three were just bandaged. Then, a bomb was dropped in the parking lot that made parts of the ceiling collapse, like Dr. Ghassan Abu Sittah reported in that horrific conference/interview. Those in need of surgery died.
By the way, just in case you didn't know: the Church of Saint Porphyrius, the third oldest in history, bombed by Israel a few days back, was located near the hospital.
When looking for new shelter, they saw schools with signs hanging outside, "We can't take any more families." They met families, sympathetic but already sheltering too many people. They're now staying in an apartment building they found empty. Sleeping in the corner of the living room. If the family comes back, they'll apologize and leave.
Told me she was saving her phone battery for when the bombing stopped, and she had to ask for help to rebuilt the neighborhood. But she doesn't think it's gonna stop anymore. The ones still with her are mute most of the time, like they're saving energy, but she feels lonely and wanted to talk. There's no internet and to connect to WhatsApp, people are buying "a card from the supermarket, there's a password and username." Not sure what she meant. Still, the internet is inconsistent and won't load neither videos or images nor pages, so she doesn't know what's happening on the outside world.
Told her there were a lot of people protesting to stop the genocide, she replied, "The bombings are getting worse by the day." The bombing yesterday was the worst she ever witnessed. The entire neighborhood is infested with the smell of death, of decomposing bodies. Bodies are piling up in the streets and she's not sure if it's because they ran out of places to store them, but most of them are in bags. The smoke of the bombings hide the blue sky—she hasn't seen the clouds for a while.
Asked if I could share their pictures, names and dreams with people and was told, of which I partly agree, "they're not entertainment." If anyone genuinely cared, they would be alive—I'd argue there are people who do care, but I'm not gonna lecture her pain. And they don't deserve to be used to fulfill someone's sick fantasy. Told me to remember what some Israelis do with pictures of dead Palestinians. And I do.
For those of you who are not familiar, many times before settlers got together to celebrate the murder of Palestinians. For one, in 2015, Israeli settlers set a house in Duma, West Bank on fire. An 18-month old baby, Ali Dawbsheh, was burnt alive. Both parents later died of wounds and only a 5-year-old, Ahmad, survived, although severely injured.
Two celebrations of their murder are widely known, one at a wedding and others outside the court in which two were indicted for the terrorist attack. In the wedding, guests stabbed a photo of the toddler, Ali, while others waved guns, knives and Molotov cocktails. Israel's Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir, was present.
That's what happens in an apartheid. Palestinians are so abused by authorities that their "innocent civilians" come to accept the brutality as necessary or are desensitized by our suffering. After all, it's been 75 years—get used to it!
So I won't risk the image of my loved ones, in fear they are used in these kinds of depravity. I will say, though, the world lost a young footballer. Lost a female writer and an aspiring ballerina. Lost a kind father, who was also a great cook, and a loving mother that enjoyed sewing and other types of handicraft art. Lost a math teacher and a child that wanted to become one.
Tumblr media
People think Israel is testing new weapons on them. There's civilians arriving at the hospital with severe burns, which they thought was from white phosphorus, but apparently the pattern is different from the one caused by white phosphorus. It's widely believed Israel tests weapons in Palestinians.
Jeff Halper, author of War Against the People, a book on Israel's arms and surveillance technology industries, said: "Israel has kept the occupation because it's a laboratory for weapons."
They've ran out of drinkable water and the "aid" Biden sent was only for the South of Gaza and no fuel, for hospitals, was allowed in. Many shelves in the supermarket are empty. She said many are convinced that if they don't die from the bombing, they'll die from starvation or dehydration, or whatever disease will develop from the dirty water they're drinking.
Told me all people do now is pray, cry and die. Told me she hopes West Bank is spared. Told her Israel bombed a mosque in West Bank and dozens of Palestinians in West Bank are being murdered by settlers, so she bided me goodbye.

There are a lot of people claiming that people are hating Alicent because they "can't handle a complex female character". And I'd agree with them, if Alicent was a complex character.
Alicent is someone HOTD is obsessed with making sympathetic, part of that is that they altered her motivations massively. In F&B, Alicent is motivated by ambition and resentment for Rhaenyra. Through this lens, her actions make a lot of sense. She factionalized court by demanding Aegon be made heir, she suggested Aegon be betrothed to Rhaenyra she spread rumors about the Velaryon boys' legitimacy, she raised her sons to despise Rhaenyra and her family, she forced Helaena to marry Aegon at 13, etc. All theses actions were to put Aegon on the throne, no matter the cost to her other children, Rhaenyra's innocent sons, and the threat of war.
In the show, by removing Alicent's ambition and making her solely motivated by wanting to protect her children, Alicent comes off as a hypocrite and an idiot at best, delusional at worst. Her turn from wanting to go back to being Rhaenyra's best friend after marrying Viserys to declaring war on her at court is jarring to say the least. Alicent apparently decided to believe that Rhaenyra could execute her half-siblings with no evidence other than that she didn't tell Alicent about her sex life. That's not a complex decision, that's just stupidity.
Alicent spends the entire gap of the ten year time skip abusing and undermining Rhaenyra and raising her sons to believe that the Velaryons are beneath them. If she was truly concerned about her children's safety, making a massive wedge between Rhaenyra's family and her own (which only endangers them more by removing familial bonds) is the dumbest decision ever. To add to that, Alicent is constantly telling Aegon that he will be king, which is treason. If any servants hear her telling Aegon that or him talking about it to her or Aemond, he could be executed or exiled. How exactly is that protecting him? She also teaches her other children treason, by constantly repeating that Rhaenyra's sons are bastards. Again, if anyone overhears Aegon and Aemond saying this, they could be executed, exiled, or tortured, as we see in episode seven.
Alicent refuses to actually do anything about Aegon bullying his siblings, only warns him to do it in private. Again I ask, how is that protecting her children? She refuses a marriage alliance that would raise the probability of, at the very least, Helaena's survival. I understand concerns over Helaena being like a captive, but again, this concern stems from Alicent's own doing. Rhaenyra has given her no actual reason to believe she'd commit the worst taboo in Westeros, but Alicent has driven a massive wedge between their families and has declared the political war she's so concerned about. Again: Alicent is the cause of the danger posed to her children.
Instead of agreeing to Rhaenyra's offer or betrothing Helaena to literally anyone else, she forces Helaena to marry Aegon when they are still children. This decision is completely hypocritical. Alicent expresses disgust by the Targaryen marriage customs back in episode five, now in episode seven, she is forcing her children to marry each other in order to strengthen Aegon's claim. Aegon despises Helaena and already has an alcohol problem by the time of the wedding, how is that a safe environment for Helaena? The show also made Alicent a child bride, which makes her decision even more confusing. Alicent went through the same struggles she's forcing on Helaena, yet she still forced them to marry so young, thus putting Helaena into the same misery she felt at the beginning of the show.
Changing Alicent's motivation to try and make her seem more "noble" makes her into a hypothetical idiot. Had the show kept in her ambition, she would be a complex antagonist. A woman who plays the system for her betterment and even pushes aside her children's well-being for it is an interesting character, much like Cersei. However, unlike Cersei, Alicent has a lot of control at court and over the king, making her an even more interesting rival to Rhaenyra. But in the show, Alicent is someone who refuses to better her life, despite having more than enough power to do so, and sacrifices everything she cares about in the name of those very same things. People pointing out and complaining about the inconsistencies and hypocrisy of Alicent is not them being "unable to handle a complex female character". It's them being rightfully irritated by a hypocrite who the narrative is constantly pushing as the ultimate victim.

Round 2
Propaganda why Dr. Gregory House is insufferable:
"Choses to make the people around him and himself miserable.
Makes patients take treatments or tests without their knowledge, and does the same to his employees
Doesn't believe in asexuality
Gave a deaf patient a hearing implant without their consent
Started to call a woman a "he" once he realized she was intersexual
Always makes sexual remarks to his female boss
Lowkey racist
Didn't want to give his condolences to his best friend after his girlfriend died accompanying a drunk House to his... house
More stuff I can't remember right now but I hate hate hate hate him"
"The whole point of the show is that this guy sucks as a person, knows it, is proud of it, and works to keep it that way. But he’s extremely competent. There is a reason fans call this show “Malpractice Hospital” and it’s this guy. Literally."
"Transphobic, intersexist, aphobic, etc. And I'm not entirely sure how to explain this but, while he is racist/homophobic/sexist, it's in a Liberal kind of way? Like I have a feeling the writers dont want you to think he's actually racist or homophobic because That's Bad, "he just makes those kinds of comments because he's edgy!!!" or whatever excuse people come up with. For a show that hates religion, they show more respect towards christianity than they do the "Trannies" or Asexuals they make fun of. Don't even get me started on his interpersonal skills."
"Self-centered, sometimes misogynistic, low-key racist sometimes, gives his patience treatment without their concent or knowledge, started to called a woman "he" after realizing she was intersex, doesn't believe in asexuality, crashed a car into his ex's house."
"the "he needs mouse bites to live" gif kinda sums it up. He's like Sherlock Holmes if he worked as doctor and prescribed nonsensical solutions to illnesses that always work. He also doesn't explain himself and bitches to his coworkers instead. Also an asshole in general."
Propaganda why Rachel Berry is insufferable:
"Literally the annoying theatre girl stereotype cranked up to the MAX. She's got that "takes everything too seriously, stick up her ass" thing that soooo many theatre kids have bit she's not just annoying she's a terrible person. She felt so threatened by a girl who wanted to join Glee being better than her that she sent her to a CRACK HOUSE for "auditions." She's like lowkey homophonic, transphobic, and racist too. "
"omg she acts so entitled and always gets what she wants even if others get put down and she NEVER PAYS FOR IT"
"Watched two episodes of glee. Two were enough. Everyone else was a bastard in at least a somewhat entertaining way but she singlehandedly ruined everything. If she went to my high school I'd probably bully her too and then she'd whine and throw a karen fit about how I'm literally just better than her. At least I don't need autotune lol."
"She constantly does weird and villainous stuff such as; sent someone to a crackhouse, accused a teacher of molestation coz she didn’t get a part in a musical, dropped out of glee club when she didn’t get a part, a black character (mercedes) asked if glee club could sing more songs by black artists and rachel said « it’s glee club, not krunk club », tried to hook up with a gay man who she also knew her best friend liked, cheated on finn with his best friend, also her bangs post s3 are a crime.
Despite all this she always acts like she’s hard done by and the victim, barely ever apologises or takes accountability for hurting people, and is treated like a sympathetic main character by the show. Not only is she insufferable, she’s a malicious manipulator glorified by the narrative"

Hi! I've stumbled across a couple of your posts about Calypso and I just wanted to say that it was nice to see someone that thinks about her the same way that I do. She is deeply flawed and does things that are wrong, but she's also a whole person being used as a punishment by the gods for some random man they don't like very much. It's just so wonderful for me to see a person that can see her whole character instead of just her poor meow meow Odysseus potential
(like the rape headcanon which has a single (ONE SINGLE LINE) of evidence in the entire saga for. I'm so sick of people taking this character that probably doesn't even know what sex is and deciding that she's a rapist because she was in the original Odyssey. Literally no one else gets this treatment but her)
Hello, Epic!Calypso means a lot to me and every time I see an incessantly mean post about her I grow to like her more in defiance /lh
I feel a lot of ways about Calypso and I'm very biased because I resonate with her on some deep personal level. But also your ask allows me to rant and so I will:
🌊 I like Calypso as a character because she's complex. She has close to no known lore in the Odyssey and I choose to ignore other texts that mention her because, well, Epic is loosely based off the Odyssey. The musical expanded on the little personality she had in the text in a good way, in my opinion. She's more than a foil/functional narrative part she was in the original text.
🌴 I feel like you're making a good point by saying she probably doesn't know what sex is. While she's clearly an adult woman, she was supposedly imprisoned young (if you follow the general myth, then during Titanomachy) and it's never stated she had prior lovers. She probably has an idea of intimacy but no experience of intimacy. She's also not socialized properly. I would compare her experience to someone living in total isolation or solitary confinement. Of course her people skills are limited. She needs therapy, not public scrutiny.
🥥 Whether or not you believe immortal beings age and mature depends on the source but mythology (generally) offers us examples of growing up and becoming of Gods so I believe Calypso grew up on that island. Her saying she was imprisoned "when young" also kinda hints it imo. With that said, this girl might have as well spent her formative years alone. Loneliness has devastating effects on psyche, I'm surprised she's not deathly depressed. That is, if we choose a sympathetic route — which is what I choose to follow because Epic is overall written as a sympathetic narrative. If it wasn't, I'd just call Odysseus a war criminal that deserves all he got.
🐚 This one is controversial but I cannot help but feel sympathy for the way Calypso imagines a happily-ever-after and genuinely believes in that illusion. It reminds me a lot of how someone with a stigmatized mental disorder would view reality in a distorted way — and sometimes even hurt other people without meaning to hurt them. Toxic (this word is so overused), suffocating love? And from both of her songs we know she didn't mean to hurt Odysseus. Her actions were wrong, her reasonings convoluted, but she did not mean harm. She hurt him without an intention to hurt him and she can't see that she hurt him because her world rotates on completely different system of axis. You could say she understands she might have been wrong but she won't apologize for it.
🍹 I will never keep repeating that she's an immortal character that lacks human morality overall + she's never been around others before Odysseus. The way she's scrutinized for the same things other Gods across mythology do (most of whom are constantly around mortals and have a track of seducing them) is such a knee-jerk response it's funny.
Like I said before, I personally choose to interpret Calypso's "ambush" as at least somewhat physical, but at the end of the day it is an assumption/personal preference. You reminded me, though, how, hm, peculiar it is that she's so far the only character whose mythical counterpart overpowers her musical persona in the fandom about the musical. I appreciate that people are aware of the text of the Odyssey enough (I hope) but there has to be a limit to the complaining. Jorge works hard to create fleshed out characters for his own loosely inspired story that he fills in with his own narratives. I think it gets to the point of ridiculous when a fleshed out character is ignored in favor of a barely defined myth counterpart.
Her character didn't get absolved of the blame, she got two banger songs that completely align with her myth persona, literally what is that thing that makes people so mad about her. Because if it's personal distaste then it sure overpowered the ability to enjoy complicated narratives and characters that do not align with what the main character needs.

since you’re very publicly a huge fan of brennan while also really despising the way klck was treated to the point of condemning the IH’s morality, what do you think of his own treatment of her? he frames her as entitled and clearly thinks very poorly of her, so i guess i just don’t understand why you’re not also criticizing HIM for this
Okay, first of all, I have never "condemned the IH's morality". They're perfectly fine people. As I keep saying, I've been a fan of Emily (and Murph!) since before some D20 fans were born.
Secondly, I have been criticizing Brennan! Constantly! In like every single post I've explicitly criticized one or more of the Intrepid Heroes, I say that even if something didn't start with him it's entirely on Brennan because he's the referee-slash-director, he bare minimum allowed everything I don't like about the season. And I don't think that's a small complaint because like, how could I blame the IHs more than him? Soccer players need a ref, movies need directors, TTRPGs need game masters. I would never expect six players to just pull a narratively-cohesive and emotionally complex story out of their ass. I explicitly compared him to Aabria and how she often reigns her players in and gives them reminders that their characters actually live in a world where people generally act like they do in real IRL life.
I think the most I said about the Intrepid Heroes without mentioning Brennan explicitly was the post where I blamed the Kalina retcon on them not paying attention. But the thing them not paying attention apparently resulted in was a completely unnecessary move by Brennan, even if they didn't pay attention he's the one that seems to have said "yeah we'll just go with that". Players are going to miss things, that's natural, that's part of the reason a GM is there. I was a little emotional with the Intrepid Heroes in that post for dropping the ball but even still I recognize that a GM's job is to provide a consistent world that doesn't radically alter based on an easily corrected misconception by tired and harried players.
And like, this was the post I made before the "couldn't pay attention" one:
Tumblr media
So even that post was already in the context of me having just explicitly namedropped Brennan as having been the one most to blame for it.
I haven't mentioned the interview because I don't like apparently having been wrong that there was ever meant to be a sympathetic angle to the Rat Grinders but I have been liking posts about it. If you want my opinion, it sucks, man. I said I'd been burned before on trusting something was good enough that it wouldn't go down a particular road but the way he talks about her and the other Rat Grinders truly surprised and flabbergasts me.
To sum up, I like the Intrepid Heroes a lot. I'm borderline in love with Brennan. This wasn't a great season and that's fine. No one makes every shot.

The Protection of Innocence
Legend doesn't like opening up to people. He wants to be seen as strong. After waking up from a nightmare, a conversation with Wind manages to get him to loosen up just a little. It's not much, but it's a start.
This is just a little something I thought up. Legend has me in a chokehold constantly.
I wanted to write him being soft. And Wind has such little brother energy, I think he probably has that effect on most people.
I'm still new to Linked Universe and Legend of Zelda in general, so I apologize if characterization isn't great!
You can also read this over on AO3!
Legend was a seasoned adventurer, and at this point in his life, there wasn't much that he wasn't able to handle, no matter how much life tried to throw at him. He always managed to make it through even the most difficult of situations. He was strong, and there was nothing he hated more than having other people perceive him as weak.
Which was why it was so frustrating when he bolted upright in the middle of the night, a gasp leaving him as he was shaken out of his nightmare, only to turn his head to the side and see that Wind was awake, and staring right at him with curious, concerned eyes.
He considered just ignoring him, rolling over and going back to sleep without saying a word, but before he had the chance to do anything, a quiet voice pierced through the silence of the small camp they had created. “Are you alright, Vet?” The voice sounded somewhat nervous and unsure, and although Legend really didn't want to discuss this any further, he couldn't ignore that the kid sounded genuinely concerned and meant well.
He sighed and slumped forward a bit, not letting any of the residual tension from his nightmare show on his face. “Just had a bad dream. You gonna be up for much longer?”
Wind looked up at the moon, seemingly thinking about something before shrugging his shoulders. “I've been on watch for a while, so I'll probably be switching out with the captain in a bit.” He went silent for a moment, his gaze lingering just over Legend's shoulder, as if he was too nervous to make direct eye contact. “Do you wanna talk about your dream?”
Legend reached up to run a hand through his hair, instinctively groaning at the thought of sharing his dream with another person, let alone a kid like Wind. “I think I'm good. You should get some sleep, though. I'll take over for you until the captain wakes up.”
When he moved to stand up, he couldn't help but notice an exaggerated pout pass across the sailor’s face. Wind crossed his arms over his chest, casting a wary glance at Legend. “You don't need to coddle me just because I'm a kid, you know. I can handle being on watch just as well as the rest of you.”
Legend chuckled a bit at that, shaking his head as he stood and brushed himself off, making his way towards the log where Wind sat before a crackling fire. “Trust me, it has nothing to do with whether or not I think you're capable. I'm just gonna have trouble falling back asleep now, so I might as well be useful to you.” He settled down next to him, his eyes gazing at the flickering flames. “Seriously, it's not a big deal and I'd be staying up anyways. It'll be worse tomorrow if both of us are low on sleep.”
Wind didn't seem entirely convinced, and a tense silence passed between the two of them for several moments before he finally let out a sigh. “But you're sure you don't want company or something? I know I'm the youngest, but I'm really not weak at all! I can be useful!”
Legend paused for a moment when he heard him say that. He couldn't help but feel sympathetic towards Wind, as he understood the feeling of not wanting to be seen as anything but strong, and that surely wasn't easy for Wind when he was the youngest in the group and everyone saw him as a kid.
It took him a moment to figure out what to say, but with some consideration, he was finally able to speak, his gaze still remaining on the fire in front of him. “I know that you're strong, and trust me when I say that you've been very useful in everything we've done so far. You're young, but you're still a hero just like the rest of us.” Legend spoke earnestly, more softness in his voice than he was used to there being. “But even heroes need sleep. And like I said, it's better that at least one of us is well rested tomorrow.”
He could feel Wind still looking at him, but the younger boy didn't say anything. After what felt like a long time, he spoke in a quiet voice once more. “But you're sure you'll be alright by yourself? I know you just had a nightmare and all…”
Legend paused again as he realized that Wind wasn't just doing this because he didn't want to be seen as a child. Part of the reason he insisted on staying awake was because he wanted to protect him, comfort him after a bad dream. And as much as Legend hated being perceived as weak, he couldn't deny that something about that made him feel warm.
“How about this?” Legend finally turned to look at him and offered a small smile. “I’ll stay up with you during your watch because I'm having trouble sleeping. And if at any point you start to feel tired and want to get some more rest, I'll keep watch until the captain gets up. But only if you decide to go to bed yourself.”
Wind considered this, nose scrunching up in thought, but ultimately nodded his head in agreement. “Okay, that sounds good.”
And so the two of them sat in silence for a long while, watching the flames as they danced in the night air. It was a peaceful feeling, and Legend felt the lingering stress from his nightmare slowly melt away as a cool breeze brushed against his skin and he listened to the soft snores of his companions. When he glanced over at Wind, he could see the boy rubbing his eyes and yawning, but he didn't comment on it. He had made his deal, and Wind would go to bed when he decided on it.
After another little bit, Legend felt a shift beside him, and he looked over to see Wind slowly hoisting himself up from the log. The kid glanced back at him, another yawn escaping him before he spoke in a groggy voice. “You sure you'll be okay if I go to sleep?”
Legend chuckled and nodded, and Wind stretched his arms above his head before grunting in response. “Okay, I think I'm going to try and sleep a bit, then.” He stumbled towards his bedroll, his footsteps uncoordinated and clumsy because of how drowsy he was. “Thank you for taking over for me, Vet.”
Legend nodded in response, watching Wind as he settled down and pulled his blanket up to his chin. “Goodnight.” The sailor spoke in a quiet voice that was laced with sleep, clearly already falling into a deep slumber..
Looking back to the crackling of the flames before him, Legend couldn't help but smile just a little. “Sweet dreams, sailor.”
And when Wind shifted in his bedroll, a contented sigh escaping his lips as he snuggled deeper into his blanket, Legend felt that warmth in his heart again. For the first time in a long time, he felt like maybe it was worth it to open up to someone, that maybe he could trust Wind and the others more than he gave them credit for.
And he considered that maybe next time he was awoken by a nightmare, it would be alright to tell someone about it, instead of bottling it up like usual. That thought made him smile despite himself, glancing over at his sleeping companions, and chuckling to himself. He wondered what they were dreaming about. They all had their own traumas, and he was sure many of them had memories that haunted them, but as he sat in front of the warm fire, listening to the sounds of soft snores and tired bodies shifting in their sleep, he truly did hope they were having sweet dreams.

" My feelings on" part 3, today's episode: For my derelict favorite and how it fails at being a feminist empowerment story.
So this OI had an interesting title and a ML that didn't have the same cold Duke of the north look, some characters named after Greek gods, and it sounded relatable at first since I'm sure all of us had a fictional crush we obsessed over.
Tumblr media
Dear God how this one flopped. Put some respect on the true Hestia, the actual goddess of the hearth in Greek mythology mostly known for staying out of conflict as one of the kindest goddesses because this version of Hestia is the absolute opposite.
Tumblr media
The plot is basically Hestia is a rich woman possessed by another transmigrated soul who was a big fan of the story she read in her first life, she is obsessed with the 2nd male lead Caelus and fangirls over him whenever she can but Cael is going through severe depression after the og fl Diana rejected him even after he gave her so much including murdering 2 people for her, he's so distraught by this that he kills himself and Hestia places the blame on Diana and her fiance Helios for not doing enough and makes it her goal to ruin them for Cael.
So first of all, Hestia goes from a little funny to flat out grating to follow as the lead. She's basically a manhwa insert of those OI commenter's who shit on every woman who is too feminine or emotional and thinks they can do better by being a badass or the white lotus villainess who purposely provokes the lead and damage her reputation by acting like Diana was the aggressor. A flawed protagonist would be amazing but it becomes clear that the narrative claims Hestia in the right for all the times she purposely provokes Diana for numerous sins but it mostly centers around not getting with Caelus.
Here are some examples of Hestia being a dream girl for an Andrew Tate fan.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Honestly can't tell if she was written by a pick me girl or by a loser who's butthurt that he got rejected and Hestia is just his ideal girlfriend.
Caelus is not nearly as terrible but the way they try to make him sympathetic just feels like an ass pull you'd see in a 2018 depressing gacha life video
Tumblr media
I like his design since we really need more long haired male leads but ehh.. that's it. As I said above Cael gives up a lot for Diana including land for a temple and killing 2 former villains for her even though she never asked. Naturally Diana did not fall for him just because he did great things for her especially after he killed 2 people. Not knowing what to do without her he falls into depression and kills himself in one timeline. Despite the common agreement that suicide is no one's fault, The blame is shifted onto his ex and her fiancé for cutting him off. While Helios and Diana are no angels Cael is treated like he can do wrong and while that it is the point since Hestia is his biggest fan, the narrative plays into this as well, mostly in shitting on Diana for "leading him on." And playing him for not becoming his bride. Feels straight out of a nice guy subreddit. His suicidal arc also just feels so weird.. it's there for sympathetic points and it's immediately solved when Hestia blows money on a title so she can marry him, no real work, just the good ol power of the boss babe to cure depression and suicidal thoughts. Frankly if I were him, I'd be extremely uncomfortable and upset if my current partner made it their entire personality to attack my ex, I feel like most people would rather continue their journey with their new partner if they want to go on a healthier path, and your ex constantly being brought up by the current partner for petty revenge would make that harder.
Diana is honestly more suited to be the protagonist then Hestia, ironic considering she was og fl
Tumblr media
Shes everything the average "baddass babe" would hate, feminine, graceful, and dainty. She's a saintess who used to heal the common folk before she gets engaged to Helios and becomes the crown princess, from there she stops helping the commoners and works to be a noble. That would honestly be a better reason to call her out instead of "You didn't throw yourself to my baby boy Cael!!" Regardless she isn't as evil as described by Hestia. She's definitely not a perfect sweetheart but rejecting a man is not on her. Imagine if she stayed the protagonist and she had an arc dedicated to her betraying the people to be a perfect noblewoman where she is called out and learns to find a balance or make things a little more fair. Diana needed to be called out on a lot of things but shitting on her for not accepting a man's feelings is just stupid. Diana barely even knew Hestia and already this woman who married an ex friend of hers is making her entire life into being a dick to her.
Tumblr media
I can't really see how I'm supposed to hate her when Hestia is just as much of a hypocrite. Here she judges Diana for wearing a fancier dress at a ball
Tumblr media
Hestia aren't you throwing money everywhere you go to satisfy your own superficial goals? You seem more concerned about using that money to buy a title and marry a man you fanboy over instead of being the saintess you think you are. The pot calling the kettle black indeed.
they do try to explain why Hestia hates Diana so much aside from Cael but even then.. it's not really Diana's fault, just the rude priest who kicked her out, for all we know Diana was busy or never even told that Hestia showed up to be healed
Tumblr media
That sounds more like a problem with the kingdom and not a single woman.
But ofc, the comments are dumb and see everything through the lense of what they would consider a "trashta" as the one true gospel, here's one comment that really got me.
Tumblr media
Damn, I guess that means secret Santa or donations must be canceled since you don't share feelings for those random people who give you gifts.
I feel like if this one was surrounded about the biases we feel about the characters we like and how to actually move on and grow, you need to work on yourself instead of focusing on shifting the blame, this could be a great story on how all the characters better themselves with their own arcs.
Conclusion: For my derelict favorite claims to be a feminist alternative of a typical story when it's basically just taking the usual two faced obsessive villainess, not bothering to add some nuance to said character to make her likeable, putting her in the protagonist seat, and pushing the narrative that her pathetic revenge is totally right, with the plot basically being a self insert fanfiction you'd find on wattpad.

Actually I will join @misssicknesss and make my own post abt how.. weird a lot of Amnesia fans are in treating Daniel vs Alexander.
Incoming huge rant
Like unironically I feel uncomfortable around u if you constantly talk about how Daniel is a sweet uwu innocent cinnamon roll (He's not. He's a grown man.) And how evil and manipulative Alexander is and feel sympathy solely for Daniel.
Seriously there's a lot of infantilzation happening with Daniel in the fandom which I think is also rooted in ableism. Daniel showing signs of mental disorders like Schizophrenia- in turn the fandom sees Daniel as this sweet innocent baby that didn't know better when that's not how Schizophrenia works. (Or In general how psychosis works)
People with Schizophrenia don't just go around randomly murdering little girls when they have an episode and just because they experienced psychosis doesn't mean that they can't be held accountable for their actions- especially when it comes to MURDER.
Even without Daniel murdering someone during a psychosis, he willingly and consciously tortured and murdered innocents before that. He was 100% aware of what he was doing and found pleasure in it. Daniel is not an innocent man.
Also did the fandom like collectively forget that Daniel is a British Colonizer who works for the British musuem and the reason Amnesia TDD happened in the first place is because he fucking grave robbed an Algerian Tomb during an expedition???
Talk as much as you want about Daniel being an abuse victim turned abuser who didn't break the cycle to justify his behavior but literally no one forced him to work at the British Musuem. It definitely didn't come from his family from what we know.
Daniel is not your sweet innocent uwu baby.
Okay. Now to Alexander. I'll try my best not to be biased here as the number one Alexander Apologist but Alexander is also not a good person, duh. He kidnapped people and tortured them as well for vitae over centuries and killed anyone who was a liability to him before turning their mangled corpses into his servants.
What differentiates Alexander from Daniel is his remorse. Unlike Daniel, Alexander doesn't enjoy what he's doing. He isn't opposed to it but you don't see him laughing maniacally as he cuts open his victim or mock their pleas for help. People defend Daniel with the reasoning that Daniel was acting on instinct and wanted to save his own life. True, but then you can't turn around and shit on Alexander for doing the exact same thing. Pick a lane.
Alexander doesn't torture people for fun. He does it because the resource found within human anguish- vitae- is what he needs to return home to a loved one. He has tried finding other methods to harvest vitae before resorting to human torture! And in a memory capsule he notes that if he doesn't get home soon, he'll be killed because of his involvement in human politics. Alexander is also just trying to save himself. He constantly laments about how he misses his old self. How he's aware that he has become a monster. How he lives in anguish every single day. He feels like that he has no other choice but to be cruel and he hates it every step of the way. But his desire to return to his love keeps him going.
If you ask me that makes Alexander way more sympathetic than the British bloke who, upon being forced to deal with the consequences of his actions, threw a temper tantrum, cried (literally), blamed Alexander for everything then drank an Amnesia potion to run away from the repercussions.
YES Alexander was manipulative towards Daniel during the game, preying on his insecurities in an attempt to stop him but that was during a time where he was about to finally return home after centuries of being stuck on Earth, homesick and miserable. I'd personally have a hard time staying chipper too if I was in that position. Alexander was desperate.
On top of that, Daniel was manipulative too! News Flash! The way he manipulated Elise Zimmermann into staying at the Castle to keep her from escaping and telling local authorities was fucking disgusting. Even more so when you know that he murdered her shortly after for no reason other than his paranoia. That's a lot more reprehensible than Alexander manipulating Daniel into making him give up and submit to the Shadow (again, out of desperation!!). And if that wasn't enough, Daniel called Elise a "little bitch" and tried justifying what he did by trying to convince himself that she deserved it because he refuses to acknowledge that he's an evil person.
Again. If you want to acknowledge that Alexander was manipulative, then you also need to acknowledge that so was Daniel. In a way that was a lot more evil than Alexander if you ask me.
Long story short: don't talk to me if you think Daniel was an innocent baby that did nothing wrong and Alexander is the big evil abuser.

ailesswhumptober day 29: ownership / branding / "everybody will know that you're mine"
chapter 1 / 3 of we should get our act together | rated t, no archive warnings apply
personal space has an entirely new meaning for eddie after the life foundation goes up in smoke. the symbiote he had bonded with for a few days already pushed the envelope on the definition, and as they watched their polar opposites turn to ash, venom had insisted on clinging to as much of eddie as possible.
to make sure that you stay here, they had spoken in his head. to make sure that we stay here.
"don't know where else i'd be," eddie muttered, figuring that would cause them to ease up.
a week later and the symbiote has only become more possessive. personal space is difficult to maintain when your person houses another living being in it, eddie muses as he walks down the street to the coffee cart outside of mrs. chen's.
venom slithers through eddie's memories as he focuses on appearing normal. just a guy getting a coffee, exchanging cash for a paper cup full of caffeine, and if anything isn't normal… well, it is six in the morning and the vendor has certainly seen worse. he fumbles through the exchange and receives a sympathetic smile along with his coffee, cradling it between his hands as he walks to the park.
venom delves deeper, towards the boxes that eddie keeps locked away for good reason, and he brings a hand to his head. don't do that, he thinks. boundaries, remember?
are you going to drink that or stare at it forever? venom asks, easily shifting gears. is there chocolate in it? they spike eddie's heart rate a bit, perking up like a puppy.
"just coffee," eddie mumbles, sitting down on a bench. he takes a sip, enjoying the way it burns his tongue ever so slightly. "can't afford a sugar crash today."
"eddie?"
it is anne! venom loudly, happily exclaims.
"hey, annie." eddie waves. "didn't expect to see you on this side of town."
"i have a new client meeting," she explains. "how have you been?" anne's steely eyes bore into his, but eddie has never backed down from a game of chicken before. "i'm sorry that you lost venom," she says.
not lost, eddie. right here.
eddie takes another sip of his coffee. "yeah," he says. "it's fine, though. i'm fine. some things just aren't meant to be."
"wow, eddie. way to kick a girl when she's down."
"what? no, no anne, i didn't -"
she laughs, and man, eddie misses that sound.
"i'm just messing with you. i'm running late but maybe we'll catch up later this week!"
that was not cool, the symbiote's voice echoes in eddie's head as they walk back to his apartment. you cannot keep pretending that i do not exist. they pull eddie's body into an alley, slamming it into the bricks. do i have your attention now?
eddie's head spins. "the fuck?"
that is close enough to yes.
we really need to work on your understanding of consent.
listen to me, eddie, venom rumbles, spreading out from his chest and enveloping his upper body, plastering him to the wall. do you feel this?
"kinda hard not to," he chokes out.
then why venom presses into his abdomen, are you they crawl down his legs and anchor him to the pavement ignoring me?
"i'm not. i just… you're meant to be dead. not that i want you dead, but it's easier for everyone if we say that you are. you don't want to be back in a lab again."
i don't want you back there, either.
the symbiote hums, considering eddie's words. that excuse is acceptable. for now. they rummage through more of eddie's mental baggage, and he's helpless to stop them. i will make you a deal. i will remain hidden, but everybody will know that you are mine.
subtlety is far from venom's strength - they constantly attempt a dialogue with eddie, leaving him to zone out during conversations with people or reply out loud when he shouldn't, they move his body in ways that are unnatural, and they're currently holding him hostage in an alley.
it's ominous and concerning, yet oddly relieving and reassuring, knowing that venom's seen those boxes, the ones with contents deprecating his worth and saying he'll never find a partner or a purpose.
with venom, he now has both.
venom wraps a tendril around eddie's left wrist, sinking into his skin until a new tattoo is formed.
i am venom, and you are mine, they promise.

I need to vent about the hotd fandom
Feel free to ignore if you don't wanna hear someone complain.
I created this blog this week because being on Twitter has been absolutely draining and leaving me in some of the most dejected moods I've been in years. It's not all bad; I've found lovely people in the Lucemond community who love sharing ideas and stories and artwork and edits with each other and they've made me feel very much at home.
The issue is that as official content runs dry I believe a lot of people have taken to creating drama as a source of entertainment and community activity... And they do that by constantly instigating tribalistic fights with "the enemy faction" by insulting characters (and sometimes ships). And as someone who loves all characters, this means I've had to watch people shit on everything I like, absolutely fucking everything, for the past few weeks. It felt silly at first, it didn't bother me or touch sides, but over time it has started to become too much, especially as sassy quips turn to insults that you can tell come from deeply rooted contempt.
My fellow Lucemonders will insult Aemond whenever it's hateo'clock, despite him being half of the ship, if not the driving force behind the ship to begin with (and at this point in the series also being one of the few who actually mourned Lucerys the most). My fellow team black folk will insult Aegon II for the crimes he did in S1, talking about us fans of him and other team green characters like we're unintelligent or built wrong for enjoying these parts of them and analysing their characters in a sympathetic, and in my opinion, a holistic and less biased manner. My fellow team green folk either don't bother getting involved at all, or they're even worse, sending out absolutely abhorrent criminal accusations over the relationships and headcanons we prefer to write and draw. I've had people mass qrt me and my mutuals with godawful things, sometimes resorting to death threats and blatant homophobia.
In pettier/less serious situations like with the character hate I've even tried to engage in friendly discussion to see if I could foster a more proactive and calm environment in my circle, only to get absolutely nowhere. It was as if I'd been talking to a brick wall.
Nobody wants to truly get along. Nobody wants to truly hear other people's opinions. Most, to some degree, are incredibly mean spirited and everybody interprets each other in bad faith. They'd rather throw insults and remain in their incapsulated communities where their side is GOOD and the other side is BAD. There's nearly no real analysis that doesn't involve the other side being bad and irredeemable to some extent. And when you try to write analysis, but someone's fave looks somewhat in a bad light, they attack you for it, as if that character's flaws don't make them that much more interesting as a fan.
As someone who is at their essence team green but loves all characters, and whose favourite ship is mostly populated by team black folk, I end up seeing insults from both sides of the isle. And every single fucking time, from every single person involved, they're throwing insults at things I like. I almost never get involved but I often feel caught in the middle catching strays. They insult characters I like. Literary genres and tropes I like. Relationships I like. THINGS I like and give me happiness and comfort. It's like trying to talk with a friend, but every time you want to tell them about your interests they tell you flat-out it's shit and they refuse to be sympathetic or constructive.
It's been very difficult to navigate this, as someone so starkly in the middle. I have a lovely community on discord that are always peaceful and sweet, and I hope this website is somewhat better. I know it will never be perfect, people are way too passionate and tribalistic across the board in this fandom due to the inherent characteristics of the source material, but I've never struggled this much in a fandom in all my many years online.
I have no conclusion to this, only a warning that I am going through HRT and I'm currently in my testosterone peak, so maybe this is all just a momentary mood swing, like PMS for T-boys. If so, it is what it is; if not, and it ain't what it ain't. Thanks for reading.

Did you read the Karim short story yet
Tumblr media
"After Darkness" was brutal, but I loved it. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I want a Sunfire spinoff aimed towards an older audience (and a prequel series), that could be described as a "GOT: Lite".
It shows off Karim's motivations, and makes me feel really bad for him, but it emphasizes all of the flaws we've been calling him out on, things that would make him a horrible king for the Sunfire to have; especially right now.
He's too impatient.
He's single-minded and shortsighted.
He's overconfident.
He can't let go of the past.
He gatekeeps.
He lets his emotions (more specifically anger and grief) run away with him.
(Before I say this, I would be willing to write this incident off as shock and grief [BECAUSE IT WAS], but he does show the same behavior with the candle incident, so I'd like to mention it).
He wants to stay longer than what would be safe, ignoring Tijana's warning that it's too late for the corrupted elves. Luckily she did get through to Osato, and he could actually convince Karim to flee (meaning her logic was sound, it just came from the wrong type of person).
Tijana saved his life, but he's not grateful, he's just angry that she made a joke. She saved his life again, the purification spell failed to save Osato, but he insists that he could have saved him and accuses her of murder. He tries to take away her right to mourn him. Because Osato was HIS friend. Her friendship doesn't matter because HE decided it didn't.
It's the same in the show, the humans are GUESTS, they should not get comfortable, or have any official ties to Xadia. They are welcome to visit, but only if they meet HIS standards. Amaya can even stay because she makes Janai happy...as long as they both agree to HIS conditions (that they never actually get married).
Not long after we see this mentality, we see him ignore the fact Yonnis could have burned down the city of tents (possibly killing many people including elves without a heat-being mode, not to mention destroying their food and shelter which could lead to more death), because a human extinguished the Soul Candle.
Which in some way is sympathetic, it's very easy to see why Karim would be angry, that's someone's soul who can't make it to the afterlife (whether 'lost' means destroyed or doomed to wander, I don't know). But at the same time, he's so hyperfixated on his anger, he can't look at the whole issue.
Janai, however, does. She doesn't focus so much on that fact 'the human committed a sacrilegious crime' that she can't see the problem 'we need a place INSIDE the city where we can preform the sacred rituals safely'.
Karim would have executed Lucia on the spot and been done with it, but the problem that created the situation in the first place would remain unsolved. The next time someone lit a candle, no one would dare snuff it out, and the whole camp could go up in flames.
Miyana constantly tells Karim that overthrowing Janai would not be easy, that it will take time. He ignores her warnings, because he's so sure that he knows everything; Janai will back down. And on the SLIM chance she doesn't, he's a great mage, he can win and everyone will side with him. The exact opposite happens, but he doesn't let himself be humbled, choosing to be stubborn instead.
This would make him a bad king for his people. He would always push forward even when the cost wasn't worth the gain and/or there was no chance of success, and favor the side that falls in line with his own beliefs while ignoring the facts that don't.

I feel like another way that could 'fix' or like at least mend the whole thing with the continuity w/the New Republic and the 'failings' and Thrawn is apart from his apparent cause in the show just being defeated, if they go with what his plan was in the (canon) books. Since in the books he basically makes his way into the empire and climbs up the ranks purely so he can use them as like a line of defence or bait or something to protect the Chiss from surrounding threats. Like that way they could I guess at least go with an interesting way of approaching it rather than disregarding whole thing they've been (trying to) building up? Like it'd provide intrigue to his character and introduce the space beyond the outer-rim and new species e.t.c., while still removing him from association with the New Republic which would allow them (writing) to fix what they've done with the NR and make it more consistent/better (?). But we all know they probably won't do that.
Just thought I'd tell you since I saw some of your posts. :) Apologies if I've said anything wrong here.
Personally, I don't know that I feel like this show needed to explore Thrawn's backstory from the books and utilize those specific motivations in order to work. I don't have much of an issue with Thrawn being nothing more than a power-hungry fascist asshole. Star Wars could use more villains who are evil for the sake of being evil rather than constantly trying to make its villains into these sympathetic tragic characters. Not every villain needs an Anakin Skywalker backstory, some of them can just be Palpatines. The original Thrawn Trilogy didn't bother to give Thrawn a backstory or grander motivations of any kind, he just happens to be evil and smart and was too far away to be around during the Original Trilogy, so now that he's made it back to the area, he's taking over and working to bring back the Empire because he CAN and it gives him the power he desires.
I'm also not entirely sure how giving Thrawn a sympathetic motivation for wanting an Empire would fix the New Republic storyline. My personal issue with the New Republic storyline is this idea in the Mandoverse we're getting that the New Republic is so flawed that it may as well be the Empire by another name, that it is SO flawed that it was basically destined for failure from its inception. Having that be true is just... so insulting and makes the entire franchise feel so meaningless and pointless and hopeless. I hate it. Giving Thrawn some sort of motivation about protecting his people doesn't really change any of that from what little I know about it.
I know a lot of people love Thrawn and love those new trilogies exploring his background and all of that, so I'm sure a lot of his fans are really upset and annoyed that none of it has been brought up or made relevant yet, but I just... don't care. I don't find Thrawn that compelling of a villain, he mostly just annoys me. I don't know that I feel like Thrawn really FITS into the mainstream franchise very well, either, and I kind-of wish he'd stayed in the novels and never been brought into the TV shows at all.
I'd MUCH rather this show had just dropped the whole New Republic storyline and focused on exploring Ahsoka, the titular character of the show. And I'd rather they had used ANYTHING but the Rebels story to explore her through. Ahsoka and the Rebels characters all deserved better than this.

Random Ace Attorney thoughts, opinions, and ideas I have.
Ace Attorney Spoilers for the original trilogy
I swear to Jeez Maya is trying to kill Phoenix. I feel like at least once in every case she's in she's making an attempt on this mans life with it be mentally or physically
My favorite character changes all the time between Edgeworth, Phoenix, and Maya. At the moment Maya is my favorite.
Godot has the biggest fattest crush on Phoenix. Bro dropped a whole case because Phoenix wasn't on it and then when Phoenix is back on the case all of a sudden he's back. That's the gayest shit I've ever heard (Not really but still)
I heard someone say that Morgan Fey didn't *really* have a motive for the mess she did and that annoyed the crap out of me.
My favorite villains are Damon Gant, Dahlia Hawthorne, and Matt Engarde. In that order
If I had to marry one villain from the pure evil category, so no accidental or sympathetic villains, it would be Gant I just feel like I'd be fine if I don't say anything about the mess he be doing.
Gant had/has a romantic relationship with Manfred Von Karma. He also ships wrightworth. (As do I)
Lowkey, like lowkey Maya x Phoenix shippers weird me out. I'm all for people shipping whatever they want but...he met her when she 17 and he was 24. And they constantly refer to each other as family and give that vibe. But that's just me.
Lana Skye, Mia Fey, and Adrian Andrews give me very gay thoughts.
I think Turnabout Samurai is better than Turnabout Sisters. Whenever I watch case raking videos they always rank Sisters over Samurai which is fine. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but I just wanted to say I disagree.
Whenever Maya is gone for a long period of time. I like to sing My Everything by Ariana Grande to show how much I miss her.
I lowkey hate Godot he just gets on my everlasting nerves. But I can appreciate him flirting with Ron and some of the things he says.
My top 5 favorite cases are- Bridge To The Turnabout, Farewell, My Turnabout, Turnabout Goodbyes, Rise From the Ashes, The Stolen Turnabout (I think not sure on number 5)
Max was going to be my favorite defendant but then he decided to be a pedo so no.
Farewell, My Turnabout suffers from lack of new character. I can go into more detail if you want
One of my favorite character themes is Dahlia's "A Distant Trance of Beauty.
I'll probably do another one of these. I really like Ace Attorney. I also appreciate any thoughts you may have

Round 3
Propaganda why Meliodas is insufferable:
"Saw him on the list and it uncovered repressed memories of the fact that Seven Deadly Sins was one of the first non-Nicktoons rerun anime I ever saw (my parents had Netflix and this was one of their first original anime).
Anyway you probably know this shit by now but bros a fucking molester. I didn't even watch past Season 1 but ain't he a groomer too?"
"Can not stop being a weirdo for A SINGLE SECOND! literally be serious for a single minute and stop groping the 16 year old."
"The first chapter of the damn manga is him sexually assaulting an unconscious teenage girl as if it’s supposed to be relatable and funny so I think that’s enough said"
Propaganda why Rachel Berry is insufferable:
