Two characters meet up for a date, but both have a bit of something going on. Perhaps already caught the others’ cold before symptoms even began? Perhaps allergy season is kicking both their ass?

Perhaps they both just laugh and agree to just go home to take care of each other? Maybe this would even be the first time staying at the others house?

I want to entertain this theory a bit more or actually just one part of it cause I only assumed that yuuji doesn’t know anything about his origins but to be honest… no one of us really knows what yuuji actually knows. In megumi’s case, I understand why he doesn’t want to know about his father after all he knows that toji abandoned him. I can also understand why yuuji “doesn’t care” about what wasuke had to say about his parents, he probably believes that they abandoned him too… but then again we can only assume. what I can’t really understand is why yuuji never asks any questions about his weird abilities that allowed him to cage sukuna. the only reason we don’t know anything about yuuji is… yuuji himself. he’s as big of a mystery as sukuna is and BOTH of them won’t spill a thing. so I’m guessing that… there’s also a possibility that yuuji DOES know something. we, as the audience, kinda assumed that he doesn’t because we don’t know everything. we are being kept in the dark, but I’m not sure if the same thing can be said about yuuji. yuuji never says anything, never asks any questions and maybe it’s because of the cog mentality he adopted who knows but hey he didn’t even seem to be that surprised or shocked when he saw and fought curses for the first time and it’s probably because as gojo said, yuuji is just crazy. but this sort of approach can also come across as being naive… many other characters see him as an idiot and so does yuuji himself tbh but his actions keep proving otherwise. we know that yuuji is a really smart kid so I always thought that him coming across as an idiot is all surface level or maybe even a mask of some sort. there’s not even a lot of occasions where we get to be privy to yuuji’s personal thoughts that don’t revolve around jujutsu. it really feels like WE are the ones and maybe even the only ones that are being kept in the dark, cause at the end of the day we actually don’t know how much yuuji knows.

you know I've always believed sukuna and yuuji have something the other one needs. 

yuuji and sukuna not only hurt one another and make each other miserable but they also need one another (in a sense) because one have something the other one needs. they're both unbalanced individuals and jjk is a story about finding that balance

yuuj's kindness and humanity reflects sukuna's hollowness

on the other hand sukuna's overwhelming sense of self reflects yuuji's lack of any

and this all seems to stem from their loneliness. they're both incredibly lonely individuals who just needed a way to cope. sukuna by embracing his loneliness and yuuji by rejecting it. 

but the funny thing is that.. in yuuji's case no matter how many times he surrounds himself with people he still feels lonely... and the reason for that is because yuuji doesn't have a sense of self. he doesn't have an identity and without having an identity there's no sense of belonging. we need a sense of self to understand ourselves our values, the way we think and feel, cause when we do it’s easier for us to connect to others and create a sense of belonging. yuuji never feels like he belongs, that's why he's entire self worth is centred around having a role. he wants to feel connected to others like he's a part of something bigger and has a right to exist in this world. yuuji just wants to feel like he belongs.

but he can't and how can he when doesn't even know something as important as his origins?

"I don't care" lol , Both Wasuke and Gojo tried to tell Yuji and Megumi about their parents / parent respectively and both Yuji and Megumi stopped them from doing so which i think is just a coping mechanism. They do care but they don't want to know the truth Their entire life has been impacted by the actions of their parent , only they think they can run from it but they can't

and now sukuna is now the only person who has the answers to the questions yuuji doesn't want to ask

and this chapter confirmed that for me in a way.

you know yuuji is a really smart kid he KNOWS that there must be a reason why his and sukuna’s souls were able to coexist (or become one?? pls correct if I’m wrong) he just never voices it or raises any questions cause he doesn’t want to know. he’s been running away from the truth his entire life and the only person that can make him face that truth is the guy he despises the most, sukuna. 

sukuna has something yuuji needs and that might the answer to the question yuuji has always been running away from. the answer to the jjks biggest mystery “what are you yuuji itadori?”

hey guess who’s absolutely losing it over the stan twins again (spoiler alert its me)

so i was innocently scrolling tiktok when i was introduced to this DIABOLICAL au idea: firstly, what if ford really had shot stan with his crossbow when stan first showed up at the shack? and secondly, what if ford tried to bring him back to life frankenstein-style? (full credit to tiktok user @44boora for this idea, go check their account for some gut-wrenching art) (also… full post below the cut this got long)

but like i was thinking about this, ford bringing stan back to life specifically, and how dependent the concept is on this specific time in his life. i just feel like any other time and under any other circumstance, ford would have been able to, eventually, accept stan’s death. we see it at the end of weirdmageddon, where ford is ready to accept that the stan they all know and love is gone now that his memory has been erased. he tells mabel as much, and only realizes there’s hope for him when mabel is determined enough to push back against ford’s logic. ford believes very intensely in his own perception of the world. he believes in science. theoretically, he believes death is death, and there’s nothing he can do to change that.

but then, think of ford after he’s been betrayed by bill. this ford is at his absolute lowest. he can’t trust his own perception of the world anymore. he’s seen the truth of what their relationship was and the horrors he was so close to unleashing on their universe. he is desperate to right his wrongs. he’s losing sleep, his body is abused every time he closes his eyes, and the end of the world as he knows it is iminent if he doesn’t succeed in making the portal as secure and unusable as possible without dismantling it entirely. the only person he believes he can trust after everything that’s happened is stan. so he contacts him for help, and in his time waiting for him to arrive, cannot stop thinking of the worst-case scenario: that bill could still be coming for him. so when he opens the door to stan, his high-strung, paranoid brain doesn’t see stan, and he shoots.

he shoots his own brother with a crossbow and kills him.

ford is not usually one to blatantly ignore a scientific fact. again, death is death, and there’s nothing he can do about that. and yet, in a state of such intense grief, when his entire world is already close to crumbling around him and he’s holding his dead brother in his arms, there’s nothing else he can feasibly do but deny. so he does.

he lives in denial of a lot of things. that stan’s death is final, obviously, but also his reasonings for attempting to do the impossible and revive him. ford likes to believe he operates purely on logic, so he tells himself he’s doing this because he has to. without stan, he can’t prevent bill from entering their universe. he’s still the only person ford can trust, so reviving him is another step in his ultimate goal of stopping bill and saving the world. it doesn’t matter that its never been done before, ford will do it anyway. and he believes that he can, because as much as he thinks he’s moved on from his hubris, he’s still acting off the assumption that he’s special. he’s so far ahead of everybody else, so naturally, if anybody could accomplish the impossible and bring stan back from the dead, its ford.

and so he denies that the real reason he’s trying to save stan is not a logical one. he denies that he’s running entirely on emotions. it would be foolish to try something so risky and impossible and time-consuming if he were only doing it because of his crushing guilt and decade-long yearning, so he tells himself there’s so much more to it than that. he can’t just be doing this because he loves him, right? he’s not that shallow. he’s not that desperate.

and yet, he is. because as much as ford wants to deny it, he can’t live without stan. he can’t live with the knowledge that he was responsible for stan’s death. if he didn’t succeed, his grief would surely kill him.

I don’t think there’s like a specific age he regresses too personally,, esp after like one bajillion years of living an being immortal and all that it’s hard to narrow it down to som numbers (totally not projecting my own inability to know what range I go byy… not at all,,,) but!!! I made a little diagram thingy that hopefully shows my thoguhts (clic for better quality!!)

so sos so again I don’t feel like there’s like, just one specific range he reverts to, I’d imagine constantly getting older (with no end in sight it seems) he’ll be bound to slip into many various states n phases generally but there are three stages I thinks about real often (yap incoming,, under the cut to save some space :3)

I feel like he’d (on rare occasion) indulge himself in his old scriptures n notes an stuff during his time as the fount of knowledge, allowing himself to remember who he was and in a way embracing that initial truth he pushed himself away from in a more gentle way, reminiscing on more nicer memories and so on instead of playing the fool all the time..,, by doing that he’d kinda go in this half kinda regression? Like a mix between his playful jester-sona and Fount of Knowledge if that makes sense,, like getting excited again by his old works n kind of sparking that original passion he had for learning and sharing information n stuff, and wanting to ramble to his minions about it while keeping up that playfulness he’s grown to personify as a jester!

I mentioned this on the first little smc post I made ever in the tags that I dont know if he would know about his own regression or not, but his default or most common behaviour for me is like,, the low energy, unusually calm kind of one ya knoww? When he’s out of it he wouldn’t really be able to keep up that quirky silly energetic funny guy act I think!! He’s small and he can’t process that!! he’s just got a lot (or maybe nothing at all even) on his mind,, Like usually you’d just think at first glance someone who was like this was just tired or something n brush it off,, but it’s really odd when that person is shadow milk cookie?!!! anyway he’s lowww energy little guy,, he’d like to do his arts n crafts n stuff, though his artwork may be a bit sloppier than his usual standards,, but he’s small!! He don’t care he just want to draw fr! don’t really wanna talk lots,, short answers and huffs,,, and and I think he’d like reading too!! Reading is good he likes doing that n will read up on folklore n children’s literature especially.. fairytales…… rrhahahgg!!

And little!!! Little guy with the short hair on the right side umm,,m is kind a a self indulgent thing for myself I’ll be honest,, I jus really like drawin little very teeny tinys but!! I would like to imagine smc shapeshifting physically smaller when small after he realizing/understanding when this happens, and accepting that part of himself after a little while of denial and shame with Pv being there to help him along of course (don’t ever be ashamed! Of! Regresssing!!! Btw!! You’re healing and coping and that is wonderful!!!)

I think he’d start off doing it as like,, jus a way to get Pv’s attention lots more easily maybe if he’s in a more playful mood or something but Idk maybe he’d potentially just. Start doing it subconsciously if he does it enough times to get used to it

this isn't just a card, it's an absolute tease for all of us waiting for Sylus' main story branch. it's like waving a red flag in front of a bull, or a fancy red tie, in this case.

the devs totally get what the players want with the latest cards. otherwise, how else do you explain that we're suddenly feeling alive again? sorry... that we're back to that delicious power couple dynamic between MC and Sylus? the way they communicate, from playful threats and teasing to a delicate roleplay and words of adoration, that's their love language, no doubt.

hacking into the comms mid-mission? hot, next. discussing shady criminal stuff over wine? hot, next. a bit of a territorial Sylus? are we still talking abt N109, sir?

and what would we do without foreshadowing? "you said you were going to be Robin Hood for a bit" — they're clearly teasing his third myth, right? cuz i'm still certain it'll be connected to his first (and only 🙄) anecdote's timeline.

but the cherry on top? my man straight up blew open a plane door for some effortless entrance moment. and his EN VA once again did it — i'm so close to my fav lines cap, it's scary.

⬆️ this is when my soul left my body. the Shadetide guys would rather jump out of the plane than let Sylus deal with them personally. can't blame them, i get it.

⬆️ this is when Sylus' soul left his body. i like to think this poor man got so overwhelmed by that MC's line, it wasn't even the risk of getting caught by the Association that made him jump out of the plane. let a girl dream.

but jokes aside, this scene was so electric. Sylus knows exactly when and how to feed MC's thrill-seeking side. and sure, she jumped after him mostly being worried, but it’s pretty clear wrapping up the mission like that was just what she needed.

to sum up: the balance they've demonstrated with these last few cards, from springtime memories to moonlit chaos and missions, has been simply incredible. massive love to Sylus' team for once again showing us his character in all his complexity, without making it feel forced or messy. chef’s kiss 🤌🏼
