“I don’t like that Sera is sharply dressed because it feels like a lesbian trope”
Maybe she just likes being sharply dressed?
#txt#I enjoy reading the feedback but I found this one a bit odd#I was going to avoid explaining the designs but tl;dr Sera is high ranking so I wanted to give her an outfit that suited her character#idk maybe it’s just me since I’m a lesbian myself but I don’t really enjoy being told a design is bad because it feels stereotypical#some lesbians do in fact like suits!

Reading BWWM love stories on wattpad be like… I’m about to talk shit under the pic. 🗣️
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/605029d6baf39787553f1f860b7a0d1f/beecb7de37fff2d3-a7/s540x810/da65db2900c518fd06cb677fad1ea7f37be55275.jpg)
I’m not gonna out the writer…I’m not gonna drop the title of the story either. As a black female reader who has “If he fine, he fine” energy and wants to enjoy stories of my favorite characters or celebrities who happen to be of different races and ethnicities and have them paired with a black reader or black oc as a romantic interest…
Black women are people and they should be seen as such. We are more than our outside appearance. We are more than breasts, ass, hips, and lips. No, we do not taste like chocolate because we’re not food because why does being attracted to black women have to mean you’re a “chocolate lover”? Also, just because the character or celebrity is a different race does not mean you have to put in the fact that they “never really been into black women” before dating them and then after seeing one that’s conventionally attractive, they believe they’re gonna start to like all of them like we’re an experiment or something. This goes for any writer of any race that wants to write for an interracial pairing, just be careful how you word describing people from your own culture or another’s. It was a bit romantic in the first half but, damn! Please write black people like we have personalities, feelings, and substance.
Ya’ll can agree or disagree, I’m gonna say what I’m gonna say.

First “I left work at a reasonable time but it was pitch black outside” day of the season. I do not care for this one bit.
#I was going to go to my first session of this book club to finally settle into being an early 30s woman stereotype but election plus dark#means I’m going home to rot.

FLAMING HOT TAKE INCOMING, DISCLAIMER FIRST: punch out is a game with no lore and little to no characterization so it’s natural that different people have different takes on a character and I 10000% respect that and I love seeing how people interpret stuff differently from me!!!!! this is not a dig or a diss this is just personal observation!!!!!!!!!!
i don’t get why the overall fandom consensus is that don flamenco is head over heels in love with the blonde lady [that the fandom calls Carmen (this I do understand why)] in his cinematic trailer. it’s always been apparent to me that this guy is supposed to be like a casanova/serial womanizer/harem enthusiast douchebag kinda guy.
1. country of origin and profession: every enemy character in this game is supposed to be an exaggerated cultural stereotype/caricature, so it’s natural to assume that most of their character traits are not meant to subvert audience expectations, and flamenco is no exception! Spaniards are stereotyped as carelessly romantic, and toreadors seem to be associated with more socially conservative or dare I say, sexist/woman objectifying behavior. it would be logical to presume that flamenco also embodies these traits
2. contender intro slideshow: most people (and I as well) like to use the final slide of his contender intro as evidence of his romantic status. however, I fail to see how it shows him as faithful; on the contrary, the fact that the girls around “Carmen” are a. (for one of them) also wearing roses - the same color as the one he’s giving her, in fact - and b. clearly looking shocked and disgusted seems to show me that those girls were also the object of flamenco’s short-lived affection and that the blonde girl is just his next “target” so to speak.
now how to justify his in-battle voice lines referring to his affection for carmen? well look no further than Carmen, the opera by Bizet, where the titular Carmen ends up being with a toreador (like don flamenco). it could be possible that he uses “Carmen” as a pet name for all of his flings rather than the actual name of his one true love
please feel free to prove me wrong bc I see nobody else with this interpretation and I wanna know why everyone agrees that he’s a faithful boyfriend/malewife lmao
#punch out#punchouthottakes#don flamenco#carmen mi amor#this was the one I thought tumblr deleted I’m so glad it didn’t cause this is really well written#ANYWAYS I find all your points very interesting and honestly I didn’t consider them from your point of view anon#I can understand why someone would see Don as just a womanizer it does fit into his stereotypical character#However as a cardon lover… I have a counterpoint#1) She has a more distinct design than all the other background characters. She still has the beady eyes the bg characters have#But her dress is so damn ugly I feel that it was intentional? Like why else would it look to different from everyone else UNLESS#She’s supposed to stand out as Don’s one love. There’s a bunch of others who love him but he still loves his Carmen even with that dress lo#2) for the “malewife” point take a look at Don’s NES quotes#For some reason he just randomly references Star Wars. Sure that could just be a reference from the game developers#But this is punch out we have SCRAPS when it comes to character interpretation#Don randomly referencing Star Wars makes me feel like he has some dorky side to him and he hides it with his whole Bullfighter persona#And so him being a malewife could be from the fact he’s secretly a dork and so surely he’d be all dorky and cringe with Carmen#Sorry this was long but again I LOVE discussion about the game#FORGOT TO SAY THIS TOO but Don’s VA said himself that Carmen was Don’s love#at least that’s how he saw it so take that info as you will

we all need to get together and collectively say “thank you danai gurira” because she did michonne a beautiful justice in this episode
in all the episodes, truly, but especially this one
in the mothership, michonne was incredibly strictly the “badass” character. she was always on go, ready to do the next thing, very rarely did she have vulnerability and softness to her character
this is so so SO common for black women in tv, especially darkskin black women. in this episode, we truly get to breakdown all the shit she went through, especially during her pregnancy, and see her be sad and hurt and all these “soft” emotions about it.
in the main show, it was instantly shown as “oh this thing made michonne into a hardass and she was super strict and mean,” but we never got to her feel any other way about it, or literally any trauma of hers in the show.
in this episode she gets to be open about those events, as well as verbally express the hurt she’s experiencing from rick by him pushing her away like it’s nothing. that is, hands down, my favorite part of this episode.
michonne becomes a full fledged character in this episode, to me. she cries, she gets mad, shes understanding, shes understood, she’s funny, she’s protective, she’s vulnerable, she’s in love, she’s openly loved in returned. she is shown as a real person. and that? that is more beautiful than any scene i’ve ever watched in the entirety of the walking dead.
#sorry this is so long winded#i’m just so passionate about how black women are being able to write black women and portray them as more than these dumb ass stereotypes#i <3 danai gurira#twol#the ones who live#michonne#rick grimes#richonne

1) this might be the MOST embarrassing thing I post here ever…I was TRYING to escanciar bien but 😳…I SWEAR I DID A GOOD JOB UNTIL MY BF FILMED ME😭😭 pouring cider like this is a lot of fun and traditional to where I live🥰 (also you can hear the traditional bagpipes in the background😆)
traditional asturian cider (sidra asturiana) is VERY dry…not sweet at all, and it’s poured like this to aerate it. You have to pour in very small amounts and then drink it super fast before the carbonation leaves. There are special lids etx that you can put on the bottle though so that it pours a lot more easily and you don’t end up spilling all of it like I did😭😆
ANYWAYS every year my city does the cider festival…and we try to break the world record for the most people pouring cider at the same time. We didn’t get it this year😔🙏 but two years ago we did!! It started raining a little bit an hour before we were supposed to do it & lots of people bailed🙄 it rains every day here…what did they expect…
2) the sunrises lately have been so beautiful!!!💓
3) the gremlins👹
4) some of my “normal” art…I don’t really post it here but I like how this one turned out a lot💓
#IM TIRED OF BEING SO SICK😭😭😭😭😭#like the fever broke a few days ago but I’m STILL SO TIRED…so bored…so blah…#I’ve just been walking when I feel fine and watching lots of movies etc#maybe today I’ll do another drawing💓#anyways it’s been a long time since I did a diary post bc I feel like I have nothing interesting or anything#but maybe you’ll find the cider thing funny😆😆#everyone is always so surprised Asturias is part of Spain…our traditional things are NOTHING like the Spanish stereotype..#and the bagpipes are so funny😭😭 I try to avoid them in the streets bc the noise hurts my ears#but from far away I do like hesring them#ANYWAYS I HOPE YOU ALL HAVE AN AMAZING DAY😙💓😙💓

rewatching scenes of allison and ray from s2 and im once again so disappointed with what they did to him in s4.
i get that the filming schedules didn’t work out: that’s totally understandable. but you mean to tell me ray WALKED OUT on allison AND her young daughter? we couldn’t have figured out another plot that could’ve actually saved the characters motives, goals, traits, etc?
that man was head over heels IN LOVE with allison.
the man that said “i dont want to forget you. i dont want to forget us. i would take my year with you over a lifetime with anybody else. you hear me? i’m still the luckiest man i know.” just up and LEFT????? i refuse to believe it bro (also that quote will be the fucking death of me)
like you have a team of professional writers. you have a team of professional writers and you took a look at that man and said “nah it’s totally in-character for him to have felt out of time enough to completely abandon the love of his life and leave her to raise her daughter as a struggling single mother” i hope you all get fired
^ literally me rn thinking about them
#i hope you’re all unemployed tomorrow#what is wrong with you#RAYMOND CHESTNUT WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO TOU#also it’s been said before but him walking out was almost used as an insult to allison???#as if it was her fault??????#as if ray would ever even do that in the first place???????????#also i’ve heard poc say that it reinforces harmful racial stereotypes#i’m white and i don’t believe that i have a right to speak on it but if it is the case (which i could fully see it being) then im even more#disappointed than i already was#what the hell was this season#such a fucking joke i swear#tua s4 hater !!!!!!#laur says stuff#laur rambles#the umbrella academy#tua#umbrella academy#hargreeves siblings#tua s4#tua season 4#tua five#allison hargreeves#allison chestnut#ray chestnut#raymond chestnut#allison x ray#ray x allison#tua raymond#tua allison#tua ray

i love how my transition goals have shifted from skinny white twink with fluffy hair to big indigenous grill dad bear. truly a win for gender
#no shade to my skinny white twinks with fluffy hair out there#if you’re gendering it up like that more power to you#just as someone who will never be a skinny white twink my mindset shifting has been so much healthier for me#being a young trans kid in middle school and thinking i HAD to embody a stereotype to be seen as valid#it sucked#because that was all the rep i saw and tbh nothing has really changed on that front and i wish it would#it took a lot of inner healing to get me to where i’m at now as a college student#and now i’m growing my hair out again and i’m more comfortable in the body i have and it’s been so affirming#yapping#transgender#ftm#transmasc#trans man#trans#trans joy

Honest question rn
Is it homophobic to headcannon a gay character as a fem boy??
Cause I’ve seen a few posts and, I could just be reading things wrong but like, I feel like that’s what some ppl are saying?
Idk
I feel like I need other ppl’s opinions and thoughts about this or else I’m gonna spiral
Like, might have a mental breakdown /srs
#pjo#pjo hoo toa#nico di angelo#pjo fandom#I don’t know what to do#am I a bad person?#am I reinforcing stereotypes?#I’m not trying to#I just think it’s a nice thought that MAYBE Nico starts to feel more comfortable crossing gender binaries at some point#and MAYBE he starts to feel more comfortable being a bit fem#is that bad?#cause I can’t tell#am genuinely asking#I don’t know#and I’m scared

Y’all need to look up the meaning of satire and trope cuz this is ridiculous 😭. The American Society of Magical Negroes is a satirical film about the magical negro trope often used in media. Satire means that it will be making fun of the trope and even criticizing it. These types of movies/books usually only have one Black character and it often requires said Black character to do heavy lifting for the white character(s). It’s literally what happened in Ghost with Whoopi Goldberg. As much as we might like the movie it’s true. I also have a post about Rhapsodic by Laura Thalassa and that trope goes crazy in that book. The Black character most likely will be portrayed to be stereotypical or 50/50 wind up dying, teaching the white character some sort of lesson, and then being forgotten until it’s convenient or completely while the white MC gets some sort of power up and their arc is completed. I promise it’s not gonna hurt you to laugh at how stupid it is. I’m also pretty sure Key & Peele had a skit about this.
#the american society of magical negroes#we’re allowed to be funny and call society stupid y’all#I promise it will be ok#in fact it’s most likely gonna make white people mad 🤷🏾♀️#I’m actually counting on it since they rarely react well to such topics being discussed#stereotypes#tropes#entertainment media#literary media#rhapsodic#laura thalassa#unique writes

have u seen the post saying that the main thing tying all three dp movies together is wade discovering he is a bottom ……….. 💀
unfortunately yes 😭
#it haunts me#did… did we watch the same movies?#i cant speak for DP2 because i haven’t seen it since it was in theater but#in both the first and latest DP movies we have references to Wade not being super into bottoming 💀#honestly ‘references’ is an understatement#we have him visibly being uncomfortable getting pegged and then him saying the words ‘I’m not a natural bottom’#he could not be more clear about his preferences if he tried#i don’t know how people watched that and came to the conclusion that he is an exclusive bottom#like sure- yea- he’s clearly OPEN to bottoming#and i have 0 issue with people writing fics about him bottoming#but it’s so so odd to me that people want to ignore his canon preferences in order to fit him into a box built of stereotypes#yall are NO FUNNNN youre BORINNGGGG#let silly gooses be tops and angry bears be bottoms#restore peace to the universe

But like. When are we going to talk about how antisemitic Nosferatu was.
#somehow even more than the original#I’m so sick of hearing how hot atj was when his perfect aryan family was killed like propaganda pieces#oh the evil wealthy foreigner brings disease and preys on perfect blonde German women and children?#nosferatu has historically been associated with antisemites#and Eggers did nothing to remove this adaptation from that history#which is#lol#given he made an all white Viking film and then said it had nothing to do with white supremacy#you’re talking the talk but you are walking a different walk my friend!!#robert Eggers cast a poc without them being a racist stereotype challenge

#lolirock#i’m not mad at the show or anything but still i would’ve liked this MUCH better than white auriana#although ig it’s all right because we still have a black girl in the form of talia(she doesn’t have an afro tho 😢)#…her being asian doesn’t sit right with me 😬 seems very stereotypical so i’m glad they changed it#and instead gave us our beautiful black queen#as well as lyna who is asian#still would be nice to have more diversity in hairstyles tho 😩 like why couldn’t talia have textured hair and dark brown eyes?#and for that matter Iris could be black too!#i still love the show and everything but still just IMAGINE what we could have gotten lol we were ROBBED#ROBBED I TELL YOU ROBBED#Lolirock#auriana princess of volta#mephisto#auristo#my post#this post is /hj so please don’t take it as like salt hate or discourse for the show or anything 😖#and please don’t harass the lolirock staff#hopefully season 3 will give us more beautiful black girls with textured hairstyles#they could even introduce aurora as her own character! the lolirock team needs to hire me fr! 😏

one of my biggest fic pet peeves is when they make a canon bi character gay, like?? there’s no need, they are already attracted to the same gender? literally what is the point of erasing their bisexuality, when it literally does not change the possibility of your ship happening? 😭 idk, it just does not sit well with me, lol
#tw biphobia#meg’s incoherent thoughts#bisexuality#like i just find it odd because there’s no reason to do it#unless it’s to erasure a character being bisexual#most times i think it’s used to like insinuate that the ship won’t break up because they won’t “miss the other gender”#which is a horrible biphobic stereotype#fandom be normal about bisexuality challenge#also i’m not talking about like a popular hc and then someone going against that i’m talking about characters who have stated they are bi#in the media they are in and it being completely erased in fics#sorry this was a rant lol

fwiw I agree that Eddie doesn’t have internalized homophobia but I don’t think Eddie “finding joy” in 806 precludes his coming out from being angsty.
#ALSO DONT GET ME WRONG I don’t think his parents are nearly as important as fans make it out to be#this arc is about Eddie and Christopher#I just also don’t think it’s far fetched for Helena to be mad/upset if Eddie is gay#I only speak about Helena bc the show hasn’t taken any effort to show she’s changed bc Eddie views her with rose colored glasses lmao#idk my thoughts make no sense I’m happy to discuss with ppl I just saw a post and wanted to agree and disagree at the same time#like Eddie saying he’s choosing joy and then 2’eoisodes later crashing out and moving to Texas shows that he’s not fully there yet#BUT AGAIN#I don’t like the take that Eddie has internalized homophobia#that’s different from Eddie thinking he doesn’t deserve the things that make him happy#like that has nothing to do with him being gay idk#hope I make sense#but again happy to explain further and to chat about it#im hesitant to post this bc i do think that the fandom at large picks & chooses when to engage with Eddie’s identity as Mexican American man#and I do think that ppl are projecting stereotypes of Hispanic men onto Eddie and his dad wrt homophobia#but I’m specifically thinking of Helena bc of the parentificstiin of Eddie and how that impacted his dynamic w his mom#And AGAIN I think the fandom makes Eddie into this mean angry broody hateful man and I don’t think that’s him#I just also think that his arc is gonna have angst not about him being homophobic of misogynistic or anything#but Eddie doesn’t think he deserves the things that bring him joy still#808 shows that lol#ended up writing like a whole essay in the tags lol#this makes no sense probably LOL I’m sure I’ll delete it in like 5 min#also not predicting anything the only time I’m gonna. complain is if Eddie’s arc is literally JUST about buck

Actually the effort to disconnect nazism and Jew hatred in the wake of Elon sieg heiling rlly helps crystallize something I’ve previously had trouble articulating which is how my illnesses getting worse has complicated my feelings navigating conversion precisely bc of the idea that disability, infirmity, etc were to be blamed on the Jews. And honestly it’s not an idea that even started with the Nazis, they just legitimized it with legislation. The Jewish body has often been associated with sickness and infirmity throughout history. And trying to convert while I get sicker and become more visibly disabled has brought up a lot of Feelings about that.
#antisemitism#disability#it’s like. one there’s guilt. about being disabled and trying to convert into a community with that stereotype#which yes is illogical I know. but it’s there#and it’s also like. once I’m a Jew my disabledness and probably also my queerness#will no longer be individual aspects of my identity#but instead be inseparable from the context of Jewishness#which yes intersectionality is already a thing and so such identities are already interconnected#but it’s different with jewishness. it goes beyond that.
