“usually when you need to vent about hockey you just want me to listen, i didn’t realize-“ you were cut off by a groan, your heart beating quicker. did he not want the distance anymore? was he finding his out?

“i’m just fucking sick of hearing you complain about it. i’ve got enough going on, y/n, i don’t need to be reminded of how i’m burdening you by having a job,” your lips parted in shock at his words, your original comment coming from sentiment and not disdain.

despite his recent coldness towards you- she claimed that he always spoke about how much he missed you.

he came out of the room with a glum look on his face, even though the team had won.

he turned, saw you, and his face fell even further.

you frowned, but walked over, wrapping your arms around his torso and burying your head into his neck.

he stiffened and then quickly returned the favour, hand going to your head and scrunching your hair in the process.

he kept you held close, nose smooshed against your hairline.

“i’m sorry, baby. i’m so sorry,” he whispered, rocking the two of you back and forth and closing his eyes.

“i didn’t deserve that.” you mumbled, looking up at him and tilting his head down, his eyes opening.

“i was having a rough day, and i wanted you to be there, and it sucked being reminded that you weren’t. i was a prick, and m’ sorry,” he confessed, giving you a begging look

“please, can we talk,” he whispered, your heart aching in your chest.

you simply nodded, putting your head back on his chest. you were mad, but for now you just needed to soak in the time you were given with him.

“i love you, y/n/n,” he gave you a squeeze, his cheek pressing to your forehead.

oh hello, welcome back to y/n’s post-game show! i’m your host, y/n! today i’ll be discussing the New Jersey Devils vs the Minnesota Tame (because they weren’t very “wild” tonight!)

for the first time of the season, the Devils scored first with an opening goal from my sweet “bord och stolar”! (isn’t that cute?! Bratt-man is teaching me swedish nicknames! that one is “angel baby”!)

we didn’t get any more goals in the first, but dig-Doug DID get a penalty for tripping! he was reprimanded thoroughly!

however, we got not one, not two, but THREE goals in second period! giving us a 4-2 lead!! Uncle Tyler the Smiler got our first goal of the period, and less than a minute later, Uncle U-Haula gave us a goal! i love my uncles!! and late into the period, we got ANOTHER goal from my sweet Bratter! I LOVE THIS TEAM SO MUCH!

and no goals for us in the third, but that’s okay because we still won 4-3!!

Lukey assisted TWO goals tonight and was a star of the game for the first time ever!! i couldn’t be prouder of him!! he is NOT proud of me though, because i tripped on the way to the car and knocked him down like a domino… I’M SORRY, SMUSH! PLEASE FORGIVE ME! I’M WEARING HEELS AND YOUR BROTHER WOULDN’T HOLD MY HAND!

This faceup on my Fairyland MNF Ryeon in natural skin was super fun to do, as I based it on my previous MNF Ryeon’s Faceup from way back when. I did buy her with another artist'8's Faceup on her, which was beautiful but not the vibe I wanted to go for. So off it came and this one got put on and I love it!

I used Coliro pearlcolors for the gold and dark pink shiny elements

Since I never thought I’d own a MNF Ryeon again, I moved on all her things, so I had to start from scratch, including her Fox ears. I bought a set from a friend back in 2012, but they currently don’t have any more of them in stock, so I made a quick janky pair out of Apoxie Sculpt for the time being. My friend will cast me some once the weather is better in Minnesota and I will buy them to make her look properly cute again!

I also made a quick tail with wire, faux fur, magnets, and tape (all but the fake fur are internal), and I’m loving how poseable it is! Definitely glad to have one back in my collection!

This. Vibes are the States feelings after the Civil War — the States that thought Adam was dead specifically, so anyone before Minnesota.

Feels especially like Pennsylvania in that one story where he has a nightmare.

Lithium:

This sounds like Robin in the middle of a breakdown during the Civil War tbh. She was so stressed all the time— especially since her husband was actively trying to rip himself to pieces, and she had really young States to raise.

Adam may not talk about when he’s in pain, but Robin hides her stress and panic like it’s a competition.

Opened Up:

Feels like the thought process of several States when they were younger (such as Florida, Texas, Louisiana, California, etc.. States who were abused in their past lives) being comforted by their parents when they get scared of flashes they remember but don’t understand.

Across the Bridge:

I DON’T KNOW THE EXACT SITUATION BUT THIS IS PERFECT FOR ADAM AND ROBIN GRIEVING. OR THE OG’S GRIEVING WHEN THEY HAVE TO BASICALLY ABANDON THEIR KIDS (explained in ‘The Ultimatum’)

Adam is insecure about his injury. He does not feel like he can be the strong pillar his family needs when he needs a back brace just to stand.

Those few months where the States who thought Adam died are getting to know ‘Gov’? When they realize he reminds them of someone they knew? This is the vibe.

When Adam and Robin brought Greg back to live as an undead creature and adopted him. Could also be Robin comforting Hawai’i while Adam goes to…talk to Imperial Japan :)

I think this is Robin in a middle of a spiral if Adam ever actually dies. Or Adam if Robin ever dies. It could be either to be honest. Most likely the day of their funeral (symbolic. There is no body to bury)

i know the team wants this and i know the fans want this for this team, but fuck man i really want this for all our teams and all our players. i want this for 2017 nico hischier who was the new jersey devils first ever first overall draft pick. i want this for 2019 jack hughes who was our second ever first overall draft pick in only three years. i want this for the 2018 team whose season was surrounded by two first overalls yet somehow fought their way into playoffs but were eliminated by the bolts, 4-1. i want this for all the guys who were traded or drafted or signed to this team since 2003 in hopes of bringing the cup back to jersey and who have since been traded away or retired before we could get that. i want it for the 2012 new jersey devils team who made it to the stanley cup finals, close enough they could feel the weight of the cup in their hands, but had to watch the kings bring it home instead, 4-2. i want it for 2012 adam henrique who, in his first fucking season, scored two playoffs overtime game winning goals, including the iconic one in game 6 against the rangers that sent us to the finals. i want it for zach parise who may have lost jerseys love when he went to minnesota but who still captained us to the finals and who may have played his last ever game this season. i want it for guys like andy greene and travis zajac who, if i’m correct, were the only guys in 2018 left from that 2012 cup run, and who were traded away from the devils in the last years of their careers, but re-signed one day contracts in order to retire as a devil. i want it for the ‘95, ‘00, and ‘03 teams who are awaiting the cups return. i want it for every single player who has ever worn the devils jersey and played devils hockey with the dream of bringing the cup back to the rock. 

but i really really really fucking want it for this 2023 team which somehow feels so fucking special. something about this team, this roster, that feels special. i want it for this team who was coming off a previous season where they finished 28th in the league. i want it for this team that was told at the beginning of the year that they weren’t expected to make it far, to just keep their heads up and play their hockey and maybe soon they would have a fighting chance. i want it for this team that went on a 13 game win streak. i want it for this team that broke so many individual and franchise records this season. i just want it. 

like i said, idk how the game turned out at the time of writing this and i’m definitely not gonna feel up to editing it if the outcome was unfavourable. so if things went belly up, then just read all the wants as “wanted” instead ig. 

i love this team, all iterations of it, and i hope they get to bring it home soon.

nhl teams as school clubs/student orgs

the result of a 15-minute conversation with lil @wymgreenteam this afternoon. based specifically on our experience in hs (also note that I’ve been out of hs for four years now so some of this might be misremembered but whatever it’s about the vibes).

this is not necessarily kind to all (or really any) teams but it is light-hearted and in good fun.

I put it under a readmore because 32 teams is a lot of teams

anaheim ducks: theater (actors specifically) - dramatic as fuck. loud as fuck. endearing in spite of it [see sharks/kings]

arizona coyotes: not a club. they’re the guys who show up to school in their tractors from october to march because the weather is fucking terrible and they’ve gotta get there somehow (thanks mn)

boston bruins: key club - self-important for no particular reason. also this is a club where you pay to do community service, which is just fundamentally wrong in the same way I feel when I see the bruins’ meth bear

buffalo sabres: swim team - wet. no I will not elaborate.

calgary flames: garden club - I didn’t even know we had a garden club until lil suggested this

carolina hurricanes: model UN - super well-run, they’ve got some nice kids involved, but I dislike them on principle

chicago I’m not writing out their team name: lacrosse - universally hated except by themselves and often take insults as compliments. also the worst punishment I can think of for a hockey team is telling them they remind me of lax bros

colorado avalanche: empowering women’s club - mostly performative but sometimes (when they can get the whole group together) they do fun things

columbus blue jackets: student section - they’re all college kids sorry it just fits

dallas stars: gender and sexuality alliance - listen. I don’t know what’s going on down there, but I can tell you it’s definitely gay

detroit red wings: cross-country - sometimes the rookies are good but everything else about them is forgettable

edmonton oilers: knowledge bowl - connor mcdavid reminds me of kb kids. leon draisaitl would be that guy who knows fuck-all answer-wise but can hit the buzzer super early and always knows what the question is asking. they just have neatly partitioned tasks for everyone and it sometimes works. yes I did kb for 7 years can you tell

florida panthers: FCA (fellowship of christian athletes) - the combination of donuts and christian rock at every meeting leveled out to a net zero

la kings: theater (tech crew specifically) - black and white outfits and idk sneaky vibes? they feel like a variety show in the same way tech does [see ducks/sharks]

minnesota wild: marching band - they’re dumb. they love each other. pranks are inevitable. some gay shit is happening. the director has very little control

montreal canadiens: magic the gathering club - just some kids hanging out. j chillin. one-sided feud with costco. vaguely hostile but in a blatantly self-defensive way

nashville predators: baseball - they were good for a while one time but now they’re just sad and middling

new jersey devils: speech - it’s fun when you’re not worried about winning, it’s a great group, but the moment you start paying attention to numbers you will cry

new york islanders: volleyball - bitchy vibes. and mat barzal’s tiny shorts

new york rangers: quiz bowl - to quote lil, they “aren’t smart enough for [knowledge bowl]” but also zero teamwork despite individual prowess

ottawa senators: robotics (FRC specifically) - they’re constantly falling apart but when it works it Works. also lots of freaks of many varieties (affectionate)

philadelphia flyers: that one political club a couple of my friends started junior year. pac or something? - it was going fine and then it changed management and now. hm.

pittsburgh penguins: student council - overachievers (affectionate). somewhat ineffective but they’re putting the effort in

san jose sharks: theater (pit specifically) - oft forgotten, but generally chill [see ducks/kings]

seattle kraken: chess club - to quote lil, “good vibes. don’t do anything, just here for fun.” I agree

st. louis blues: choir - rancid vibes. (I was a choir kid I’m allowed to say the vibes were rancid bc they were)

tampa bay lightning: honor society - overachievers (derogatory)

toronto maple leafs: lettuce club - for anyone unfamiliar, this is a club where every year, everyone interested sits at a table and simultaneously consumes an entire head of lettuce. whoever does it fastest is the Head of Lettuce for the next year. I have no fucking clue what they did at the rest of their meetings. leafs vibes

vancouver canucks: anime club - what the fuck is going on over there don’t look pretend you don’t see them and it’ll be fine (affectionate)

vegas golden knights: debate - this is for nolpats specifically I know he’s in LTIR hell but this is for him

washington capitals: that’s just the teacher’s union

winnipeg jets: football - they were never good but people go for the social aspect not the score

hockey anon here! as much as i would love to have price be an islander, lou wouldn’t let him within 100 miles of ubs with that facial hair 😂

i can kind of see him being a veteran presence on the wild or the preds, i feel like minnesota fits his vibes. could also see the avs being a possible spot for him

definitely no canadian teams, none of them have enough grit for him to be a fit on their rosters.

he also doesn’t fit the western conference vibes at all. the east is way grittier and physical which would be his style.

possibly carolina? like he could be a brent burns type defenseman.

never ever ever in a million years the rangers or devils but that’s mostly my bias and i don’t want my favorite man playing for either of those enemy teams. same for the bruins even tho i can reluctantly admit that he would probably fit the roster.

i assume he’s the captain of the team? but is he a forward or defenseman? not that it really changes my thoughts lol

but its so funny you mention brent burns because the way my brain thought sharks at first but then was like no for the same reason the east being more physical and grittier. and i’m also so quick to associate burns with the sharks not carolina. but for personal reasons cannot write about carolina/would literally giggle but not a convo to have publicly HAHA

and no you’ll catch me dead before i say price is on rangers or devils even though my best friend is a devils fan as an islanders fan my man is 184836273728383 feet away from them ESPECIALLY the rangers

and fuck ur so right about the bruins because this was also one of the first teams that popped in my head due to 1. fitting on the roster & 2. im comfortable writing regarding an area im more familiar with screaming crying throwing up if he was on the same team as the rat man himself
