I’m not really a people person, I have a low social battery (personal time is extremely important to me) and reading about him and seeing these cute art pieces genuinely has helped me feel better and more sane lmao fictional characters are so much more helpful than I think a lot of people give them credit for (also shout out fanfic writers and artists, you’re so insanely loved and appreciated 🫶)

Jake knowing he wants Shingun more than he lets on and everything is just an elaborate ruse to make Shingun think he has a say and power in how their relationship progresses and how and what it by definition is.

That last scene in his car when Shin paints a picture of a future that Jake was going to force, because that’s just who he is. The slow progression before that scene, taking him to his hideout, lying that he had nowhere to go so he could spend the night at Shin’s house, Jake gradually leaving so much crumbs for Shin to figure out who he is, The look on Jake’s face, knowing that Shin could give him that, that he could even have a future with him. When he says a few chapters before that confession in the car, that he didn’t think they made them like Shin anymore, the rise of emotion after, those small touches in the car??? Like in juxtaposition to the lie that sits squarely between them, Jake wanting and encouraging Shingun to dig up his secrets, wanting him to know so he can really come clean of his intentions, his feelings. He’s been telling him he loves him without saying anything all this time.
