i wholeheartedly believe clay terran was the funniest (and most frustrating) motherfucker to ever grace planet earth
- would always jailbreak new phones immediately & constantly had his location set to antarctica. this made it impossible to locate him
- sometimes screamed after he popped his neck and then pretended nothing happened (in public)
- found a bottle of ketchup in his grandma’s pantry that expired in 1999. proceeded to steal it and kept it at home in his shower to confuse any guests. he only had like 1 friend & apollo can’t really do anything but wonder about it now (“he was probably fucking with me, but it slowly started getting more empty….”)
— btw, when apollo went to clean out his apartment after everything happened, the bottle was gone. yuri cosmos later found it in clay’s HAT-2 belongings. he was 100% going to target starbuck with this in space.
- had a phase where he would only use microsoft bing & said “binging it” instead of “googling it”
- he had a bit of an irrational stapler fear because he got himself once, so until he got over it he’d MAKE APOLLO STAPLE THINGS FOR HIM. this included his GYAXA application.
— he got over it one day, but he kind of started punching staplers to get the job done. clay was ballsy and would jump fences & stage sabotages but he would get nervous around staplers. (“IT’S TOO CLOSE!” grown ass man)
- was very conventionally attractive & overall kind. so “how are you still single?” was a common question at bars until clay started ranting (unprompted) about how much he hated the voice they use at crosswalks or some shit (“oh. that’s why.”)
- never really cared about winning in multiplayer games or anything. he just really really wanted to make sure a person of his choosing lost. cosmos picked the right guy for the job — sabotage was in his blood since day 1 when he was steering himself and apollo off the rails in that mario party minecart race
— btw he mained donkey kong in mario party. if you stole donkey kong from him you would be losing that game hell or high waters. he is stealing ALL YOUR STARS
- did his taxes on the last possible day (that, or apollo would do them for him because as much as he loved the guy, he really didn’t have high faith he’d get around to it. he…………. also probably did wright’s taxes while he was in the beanix phase. ….and athena’s because she didn’t know how. oh, someone please save apollo.)

Two hours. I got two hours of sleep. I’m so frustrated with myself.
Went to the ER. Everyone was very nice. They gave me an IV bag of fluids (I was dehydrated! Sad cactus!) and a little ativan (teeny dose), which was nice at the time! Just a little amount, but the (mostly) quiet room, fluids, and meds managed to relax me a lot. Could have fallen asleep if the bed was actually comfortable. Then they packed me up, gave me another little Ativan to take home for tonight, and said they’d contact my primary. Cool cool. Got some much needed food on the way home, then took the pill and got comfy. Again, smallest dosage they make, so no feeling too good. Managed to muscle past my anxiety to fall asleep, and… 2 hours. Woke up. Tried to go back to sleep. Too frustrated and anxious and I feel like crap. What should I do? Just eat a whole gummy and hope that knocks me out? For me, that feels like playing roulette. Could work, yeah. Could make me sleepy and pliable. Could also backfire and make me feel sick and extra anxious for another 5 or 6 hours. What do I do? Roll back up to the ER? “Hewwo, I woke up and I need more benzos 👉👈🥺” haha funny, but I’ve seriously been thinking about it 😑
God, I’m miserable. Been sitting outside on the porch for a bit. Not quite an hour. Needed to get out of the apartment, but tbh, nearly 4am outside isn’t doing much for me. I just feel alone. It wouldn’t help with sleeping, per se, but just someone, I dunno, hugging or holding me for a few minutes would honestly save me a little. What a mess. Oh yeah, and apparently my kidneys are going 👎👎👎 down. Bad meat. Not great test results. Not what I’m focusing on tonight. I’m a mess. Anyway, this was my update. Sorry for all the walls of text. Suppose this is mainly for me to look back on in the future, but can’t pretend it’s not at least a little validating to put this all out into the world and knowing that maybe one or two people read this and I didn’t suffer completely without recognition. Yeah…
#this is a lot of text#not really a casual read#ok ok… I can’t sit outside forever#gonna go back inside and I dunno make a hot chocolatey drink. grab some snacks#TRY to feel good even though I don’t#YES will probably get a little high#hoping that the combo of sugar. salt. and thc will give me the sleepy tools to just pass out for awhile#just a few more hours! please!#omg I was so pissed when I woke up and thought I’d slept for awhile but realized I hadn’t#’ what do you mean the last text I sent was only two hours ago? ‘#seriously. I thought I fell asleep around 11 pm but it was closer to 1am.#stupid sexy ativan. messing with my sense of time#it really wasn’t that big of a dose! I was basically a little buzzed for an hour or so each time#but the doctor was nice and straightforward with me. I just dunno tho. I’m a big guy with a history of anxiety. .5mg is weaksauce#god I’m getting anxious just sitting here thinking about trying to sleep again#it’s feeding on itself. I’m trying to rationalize this but it’s just this feedback loop.#is this my life now? I’m outside. I feel so alone. I feel like I could die any moment. in a sword of Damocles way. it’s there and waiting.#ok sitting outside isn’t helping#after 4am and yes I see cars driving by. I hear the occasional siren. but I still feel alone in the world#please tell me life goes on? please tell me we’re not really at the end here.#I always feel like I’m staring at our final days. that we’re all barely here. fucking ghost planet. waiting to die.#there’s war and hate and everything is expensive and I can’t.. I’m not a part of this world. I’m too poor and sickly and so it all seems…#like we’re on our last leg. like the final days of a fire sale. this body feels fit for the grave. this world is the grave.#I’m scared#ok like I said sitting out here isn’t helping. Ian. please stop.#yes. yes. ok. snacks and drinks and distracting tv. let’s try this again.#sorry this is a lot#I spent the last 20 minutes writing these tags and getting progressively more anxious 😬#you can ignore this#text

hi!!!! if you’re still writing for remus, i was wondering if u could write something like rem and reader being super close friends and they just realize they have feelings for each other in a not very dramatic way, just kind of like, i love this closeness and i want more of it way?
sorry if i’m not good at requesting english isn’t my first language!!!!
Your English is perfect babe! Don’t worry about that! I hope you enjoy this Remus x best friend!reader on their weekly sleepover with a sleepy love confession ᡣ𐭩
“Did you see that new realty show about the girls who make more than their husbands?”
You ask Remus as he hands you a cup of tea. You’re curled up on his sofa, feet tucked neatly under you as you scroll through tv programs.
“No I haven’t seen it. Did you start it yet, dove?”
Remus sits beside you, the bottoms of your feet pressed into his thighs.
“No, I started one episode and fell asleep.”
Remus laughs, “That’s not a good sell,” you smile sheepishly.
You and Remus do this every Saturday- meet at either of your houses for lunch that turns into dinner and dessert and sleeping over cuddled next to each other.
You both swear you’re not in love with each other to your friends, but as his hand falls to your ankle and tugs your feet into his lap, you know it’s not true.
In turn, Remus knows that you’re in love with each other by the way you look at him as his thumbs press into the arches of your foot and your foot stretches into his palm.
“It was going pretty well, I was just so knackered.” A yawn tears apart your words as if to prove your point.
Remus nods sagely, taking a sip of his tea to hide his smile.
“Start it up then dovey,” you click the first episode with a pleased look on your face.
“If I fall asleep here please wake me.”
Remus rolls his eyes and you scowl, “You hurt your back the last time.”
Remus scoffs, “I did not! It was just rained that night so my muscles hurt a little extra.”
“Well I don’t want them to hurt any extra tonight, Rem.”
He nods, but you’re suspicious.
Remus watches one episode all by himself because you barely make it past the 15 minute mark.
It’s no matter to him, because he gets the chance to really look at you and feel his heart galloping in his chest without feeling like his face will give his feelings away.
Your eyebrows as without a furrow, which is strange for your seemingly permanent semi-frown, your cheek smushed under your hand and your lips all the more pouty for it. God he wishes he could just give you a quick peck.
Instead, he busies himself with cleaning up- putting your mugs in the dishwasher, wiping his counters down and going to his room to unmake the bed a bit.
His touch is featherlight as it graces your cheek, “Bedtime, precious girl.”
His hands slip under you and you rouse, a bleariness that can only come about by waking from a deep sleep making Remus smile.
“You’re so stubborn.” Sleep eats through your words, like molasses dribbling off a spoon. Remus kisses your temple.
“You’re adorable,” he lays you down on your side of the bed and you look at him with much more severity for your play argument.
“I think I’m in love with you Remus.” The words escape you with no pretenses or fanfare- just the simple, love infused words.
Remus’ hands stutter where they’re pulling your favoured blanket over you.
He kneels down and you twist under the sheets to face him, his hand cups your cheek, thumb stroking all the creases there from your palm resting there.
“I know I’m in love with you too dove, but I’d like to take you out on a proper date tomorrow if you don’t mind.”
You smile wide and bright for a night only half illuminated by the moon, “I don’t mind in the slightest.” Remus’ smile mirrors your own. He spends a couple minutes stroking your face, your eyes fluttering shut heavily. “Would you come up here? Give your knees a break, Rem.”
He scoffs a laugh, “You’re so bossy.” His lips brush your cheeks and then your nose.
“Wait I want a real kiss first.” He laughs outright then. His lips parting to puff air on your face as he does.
“No wait for our date,” you whine and pout all with your eyes closed, it’s then and instantly Remus realises he’ll never be able to deny you because he coos and tilts your face towards him. “One kiss.”
You parrot, “One kiss.”
Remus’ lips press into yours softly, soft and not more than a peck but it satisfies you. His knees crack as he stands, slipping into his side of the bed before you can say anything.
You turn to face Remus, bodies pressed close. His hand drags up and down your back, settling you. “You’re spoilt rotten already and it’s only going to get worse.” He murmurs fondly as you fall asleep, his smile hard to tame.

Hellooo can you write a fic where reader comforts billie after she has a really bad nightmare 🍒

a/n: this one’s a little short i’m sorryyyy☹️ but this is such a cute request it was so fun writing it🩷
billie and i had just finished getting ready for bed. we started by showering, brushing our teeth, then doing some skincare, and doing our hair. billie got comfy in bed, whilst i got us both some water. she had offered to get it, but i insisted, i could tell how tired she was. then, we were eventually in bed snuggled up to eachother. finally. we were both so exhausted, it had been a super busy day.
we whispered sleepy goodnights, and i love yous between kisses, and within around ten minutes, we were both asleep. billies head was resting on my chest, whilst my arms were wrapped around her. one of my hands was tangled in her hair, and the other one laid on her back.
it only felt like a few minutes had passed before i was waking up. i noticed that the bedroom was pitch black when i squinted my eyes open, so it must’ve still been the middle of the night. then i heard her little sobs. billie? i turned to face her with worried eyes, slowly shuffling closer to her. i didn’t want to startle her since she obviously hadn’t noticed that i was awake.
“bil? what’s the matter, baby?” i whispered, carefully placing my hand on her arm.
her knees were pulled to her chest, with her arms wrapped around them, and her head buried against her knees. when she heard me speak, she lifted her head up for me to see her face slightly red, and covered in tears. my worry only grew once i’d seen her face, and i opened my arms so that i could hold her.
she practically dived into my arms as i heard her sobs continue. her face was buried in the crook of my neck, and i laid back against the pillows to make us a little more comfortable. my hands ran through her hair in an attempt to calm her, but she just continued to sob harder.
i let her cry for a little bit, before realising she wasn’t calming down any time soon unless i spoke to her. i slowly sat us both up, moving her face away from my neck so that i could speak to her properly.
“can you tell me what happened, love?” i spoke in a quiet, soft tone, whilst cradling her face in my hands.
as her tears continued to run down her cheeks, i wiped them away with my thumbs. she started to calm down as she felt my touch, her cries turning into small sniffles, with the exception of a few tears still falling.
“i.. i don’t even know! i just had a really bad dream, an- and now i’m scared to sleep.” she spoke through her tears. her voice wobbled as i tried my best to keep her calm whilst she spoke.
“oh baby..” i frowned, “i’m here now. nothing bad will happen, i’ve got you, i promise. can you tell me what it was about?”
as she explained to me what her dream was about, her tears returned, turning into little sobs once again. when she was done talking, her head was hiding against my neck once again.
“it’s okay, angel. i understand how scary that was for you, but i promise nothing can hurt you, i’m righttt here.” i spoke before kissing the top of her head.
“how about i put something on the tv for now? we can watch a movie or a show for a bit. orrr we can go and bake something? i’ll stay up with you until you’re ready to go back to sleep, and we can do whatever you want. does that sound okay?
even though it was almost 4am, and i was so tired, i was obviously going to stay up and wait for billie to go to sleep, i had to make sure she was okay. i’d never seen her so freaked out because of a nightmare. sure, she had them every so often, and they weren’t great, but this was definitely the worst one yet.
as my hand was running up and down her back, i felt her nod in response to my question, and i also heard a little mumble.
“can we watch something, and can you please keep holding me?"
"of course, bil. i’m not going anywhere.” I answered, turning the tv on and letting her pick whatever she wanted to watch.
after an hour or so, she was fast asleep in my arms, holding on tight to me as if she was scared i would leave. but i wasn’t going anywhere. i stayed up for a while longer just to make sure she was okay, before going back to sleep aswell.

✿ warmest of colds (req)
jason todd x f!reader
( ♡ jason lets you bother him since you can’t sleep )
You and Jason had just gotten into bed, the covers were pulled over your chest and the lights were out, the only light visible was the city lights outside and the dim moonlight.
You weren’t sleepy yet for some apparent reason, your sleep schedule kind of got mixed when Jason started coming over more and more. Not that you didn’t mind waking up late, but you tend to get bored when you can’t sleep.
You shifted to face his side, your bed was placed beside the wall and you’ve always wondered why he always stays on that part of the bed. You’ve once tried and claim that spot but he’d always find a way to lay down on his spot.
“You’re always next to the wall whenever you sleep.” you said, you can kind of see his eyes open as they darted towards you. “Yep.” he replied before closing his eyes again.
You placed your hands beneath your cheek, pillowing it to get comfortable. “But, the wall is cold.” Jason crosses his arms, “Well, if I stay on the other side you’re just going to kick and squish me.” you pouted, letting out a scoff.
“I’d never.” You replied as you pretended to be hurt by his words. Jason can’t help but ponder, why does it matter to you what side of the bed he takes?
He then faced towards you, raising his brow “Really now?” he says, “You have more benefits anyway, the other side makes it easier to get out of bed.” well, that was true.
You gave up bothering him as you stared back at the ceiling. Your eyes trailed at the light bulb as you stared at it for a bit, what a nice shade of grey… yeah, this won’t help you sleep at all. You tossed and turned while Jason didn’t seem to budge at all.
You then had an idea and faced him again, “Can I hold your face?” he did not oblige and moved towards you, you then cupped both of his cheeks as he furrows his brows, “Your hands are freezing, how the hell are you this cold?” you only smiled in the dark light, “Maybe I’m a snowman.”
You could feel him scoff at your corny remark, “Give me your hands.” he said. He took your hands between his and began rubbing it. “How are your hands warm?” you asked but Jason only shrugged, “No idea.”
His heat melted in your skin as you relaxed at his touch, you’ve always been aware that his hands were always warm, even at winter. You stayed silent as you watched him do his magic, “Well?” he calls out, snapping you out on your blank stare “I like it, it feels real nice.”
“Then move closer.” Jason wrapped his arm around your body and pulled you close. He noticed the blankets were on the edge of your hips and pulled them back. You sighed as buried your face in his shoulder blade, “You stopped paying attention to my hands.”
“You’ve warmed up, plus I only have two hands.” He said, patting your back. “And I need one to hold you.” You complained again, “But it’s not the same. I want something warm.”
Jason sighs, “Here.” he took your hands and slid them under his shirt, placing your cold hands on his waist. “Ohh, this is better.” you said.
He hummed at you as he continued to hug you, rubbing his warm hands on your back as he felt you relax in his embrace. He planted a kiss on your forehead, “Tired?” he asked. You only hummed, “No, actually.”
Jason yawned, “Are you sure? It’s still late for you, isn’t it?” He buried his face on your neck, his lips grazing your skin gently.
You shook your head, “You messed up my sleep schedule a bit.” you said as you started to yawn as well. “You say so but now your eyes are drooping down, you’re gonna fall asleep any second now.” as he said that your eyes suddenly opened, “I was just resting my eyes.”
“Mm, sure.” he says as he planted a kiss on your chin “Go to sleep.”
Finally giving in, you then closed your eyes and went off to dream land.
🍓 i love making this one, i swear ill write longer fics soon. please reblog or comment it helps a lot.

i’m loving your fics!! could you do one about them at the airport for an away game and the team all teasing them for being cute and cuddly on the plane
love in the air
paige bueckers x azzi fudd
a/n: Hope you like it anon! If anyone has any ideas for what you want me to write about im very open to hear it!
The UConn Huskies were scattered around the airport terminal, waiting for their flight to board. As usual, Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd were sitting together, completely wrapped up in each other.
"You two are so gross," Ice announced, flopping into the seat across from them with an exaggerated gag. "It's like watching a rom-com in real life."
Azzi smirked, her head still resting against Paige’s shoulder. "I take that as a compliment."
"Of course you would," Ice added, plopping down next to KK. "Seriously, do you guys have to be this cuddly? It’s an airport, not a honeymoon resort."
Paige grinned, pulling Azzi even closer and resting her chin on Azzi’s head. "Jealous?"
"Absolutely not," KK shot back. "I just don’t need to see this before I’ve had my pre-flight snack."
Paige and Azzi just laughed, unbothered by their teammates’ relentless teasing. This was a normal occurrence whenever the team traveled. Ever since they had made their relationship official, the team had made it their mission to lovingly roast them at every opportunity.
After grabbing snacks, the team finally boarded the plane, and naturally, Paige and Azzi settled into their seats together. As soon as Paige sat down, she turned to Azzi with a soft pout.
"Hold my hand?" Paige asked, already reaching for it.
Azzi giggled but laced their fingers together immediately. "You act like I’d ever say no."
Paige beamed at her, then leaned in and pressed a soft kiss to Azzi’s cheek. "Just making sure."
It took all of five minutes before Paige slumped against Azzi, nuzzling into her shoulder, eyes fluttering shut. Azzi smiled, adjusting her grip on Paige’s hand and squeezing gently.
"She does this every time," Azzi whispered, brushing her fingers lightly through Paige’s hair, tracing gentle patterns against her scalp.
"Adorable," Ice commented from the seat behind them. "Sickening, but adorable."
"At this point, we should start taking bets on how fast Paige falls asleep once she sits down," KK added. "I say under five minutes next time."
"She’s just recharging," Azzi defended, shifting slightly so Paige would be more comfortable. "She plays harder than any of us."
Paige mumbled something unintelligible, barely awake, making Azzi smile. She tucked a loose strand of hair behind Paige’s ear and let her fingers linger there for a moment before placing a soft kiss on her forehead.
"Best pillow ever," Paige mumbled sleepily, shifting even closer and hugging Azzi’s arm like a teddy bear.
Azzi chuckled, adjusting the blanket over them both. "Glad to be of service."
"Okay, that’s it!" Ice declared. "New rule—Paige and Azzi must sit at least two rows apart from now on."
"Like that’s ever going to happen," KK muttered.
Paige, still half-asleep, blindly reached for Azzi’s hand again and squeezed gently. "Nope. Never."
Azzi smiled, kissing the top of Paige’s head, whispering, "Sweet dreams baby."
Midway through the flight, Azzi felt Paige stirring. Paige blinked up at her sleepily, her eyes still heavy with sleep. "You’re so comfy," Paige murmured, rubbing her face against Azzi’s shoulder.
Azzi laughed softly, brushing Paige’s cheek with her fingers. "You’re ridiculous. But also really cute."
Paige grinned lazily. "Guess I just like being close to you."
Azzi’s heart melted as she tightened her hold around Paige. "Good. Because I’m never letting go."
Paige hummed happily, then tilted her head up and kissed Azzi softly on the lips. It was slow and gentle, a sleepy, love-filled kiss that made Azzi’s stomach flip. When they pulled apart, Azzi traced small circles on the back of Paige’s hand with her thumb, smiling to herself.
"You’re so warm," Paige murmured, pressing a lingering kiss to Azzi’s jaw before nestling back into her neck. "I might just stay like this forever."
Azzi kissed the top of Paige’s head again, feeling nothing but pure affection. "Fine by me."
"Can you two at least try to be normal for five minutes?" Ice groaned from behind them.
"Nope," Paige replied, eyes still closed as she clung to Azzi tighter.
"This is our normal," Azzi added, smirking as she dropped another soft kiss to Paige’s forehead.
The teasing never stopped, but neither did the way Paige and Azzi naturally gravitated toward each other. Whether in an airport, on a plane, or on the court, they were always together. And despite their teammates’ constant commentary, everyone knew that was exactly how it was meant to be.

Night Owl
Pairing:Task Force 141 x Wife!Reader
Warnings: Fluff, sleep-deprived soldiers, excessive love and affection, soft Task Force 141 boys, poly if you really squint
Author's Note: I had so much fun writing this (I work nights and this is what my family stumbles upon when it comes to me lol) also, you’re Simon’s Wife🙂↕️
Masterlist
MDNI18+MDNI18+MDNI18+MDNI18+MDNI18+
The house was quiet, save for the low hum of the television in the living room. It wasn’t late for you—not by your standards—but for your husband, it was the dead of night. The world outside was silent, the sky a deep navy, and the only light in the room came from the glow of your laptop screen and a few dim lamps you had turned on to avoid waking anyone.
You had been working the night shift for months now, your internal clock flipped completely. While your husband, Simon, along with his team—who you had definitely fallen head over heels for—was used to unpredictable schedules, it still threw them off when they came home and found you awake, fully immersed in some new project at ungodly hours.
Tonight was no different.
John was the first to stir. His years in the military made him a light sleeper, so the faint rustling of paper and the quiet muttering to yourself pulled him from sleep. Blinking blearily, he glanced at the clock. 2:47 AM. He sighed, rubbing a hand over his face before sitting up.
Padding into the living room, he found you hunched over the coffee table, a pile of colorful yarn in front of you, fingers fumbling with a crochet hook. Your brow was furrowed in concentration, tongue peeking out slightly as you tried to master the intricate loops.
“…What are you doing, love?” he asked, voice gruff with sleep but laced with affection.
You looked up, grinning. “Learning how to crochet. Figured I’d make a blanket for the couch.”
John stared at you for a long moment, then exhaled a soft chuckle as he ran a hand through his disheveled hair. “Of course you are.” His eyes softened, admiring how adorable you looked bathed in the warm glow of the lamp.
Just as he was about to sit down beside you, another presence shuffled into the room. Simon, still half-asleep, padded in wearing a pair of grey sweatpants and an old hoodie, his familiar skull mask nowhere in sight. His messy blond hair stuck out in different directions, and his eyes, though heavy with sleep, immediately found you.
He blinked slowly, taking in the scene—the pile of yarn, John sitting nearby, and you in the middle of it all.
“…Why?” he asked simply, his voice low and raspy.
You shrugged, giving him a playful smile. “Keeps my hands busy. Besides, the couch could use a cozy touch.”
Simon stared for a second longer before shaking his head with a soft, fond sigh. “Thought I was dreaming when I smelled coffee. ‘S too late for this, luvie. You’re mad.”
You rolled your eyes as he made his way into the kitchen, grabbing a glass of water. Moments later, he slumped onto the couch beside you, his large frame sinking into the cushions. Without a word, he pulled you closer, one arm wrapped lazily around your waist, his head resting against your shoulder.
You smiled, feeling the warmth of his affection despite his sleepy state. Picking up the half-finished crochet piece, you shoved it into his hands.
“You wanna learn?” you asked, eyes twinkling with mischief.
Simon sighed deeply but didn’t push it away. “You’re lucky I love you,” he murmured, his thumb brushing over your hand.
A quiet laugh escaped your lips as you replied, “More like I’m lucky I married you.”
Before Simon could retort, footsteps echoed from down the hall. Johnny and Kyle had apparently heard the commotion, neither willing to be left out. Johnny, with his hair a complete mess, rubbed at his face as he stumbled in, while Kyle trailed behind, wrapped in a blanket, his eyes barely open.
“Are we having a bloody crochet party at three in the morning?” Kyle mumbled, voice thick with sleep but tinged with amusement.
You grinned. “Technically, yes.”
Johnny plopped onto the floor next to you, peeking at the tutorial on your laptop. “Ah, hell, might as well learn somethin’ while I’m up.”
“Think you mean, fail to learn something,” Kyle quipped with a smirk, earning a shove from Johnny.
The room filled with soft laughter, the kind that warmed your chest. Simon’s hand absentmindedly traced slow circles on your back, while John settled beside you with a steaming cup of tea he’d made. Kyle and Johnny wrestled briefly over who got the bigger ball of yarn before ultimately giving up and sharing.
Hours passed, filled with quiet chatter, failed crochet attempts, and laughter. You showed them how to make loops and chains, guiding their hands when they struggled. Johnny’s project ended up looking more like a tangled mess than anything coherent, but he was proud nonetheless. Kyle managed to make a lopsided square, grinning when you praised him.
Simon, surprisingly, picked it up quickly, though he pretended not to care. Every now and then, he’d glance at you, watching how your face lit up when explaining something. John, meanwhile, stuck to sipping his tea, occasionally offering words of encouragement but mostly enjoying the peaceful chaos.
By the time the first rays of sunlight began to creep through the curtains, the living room looked like a cozy disaster zone. Balls of yarn were scattered everywhere, half-finished projects lay abandoned, and the boys were slumped in various positions.
John had given up and was leaning against the arm of the couch, his head tilted back, the infamous beanie covering his face. Simon was nestled against your side, his fingers still loosely curled around a tangled ball of yarn, soft snores escaping him. Johnny and Kyle were sprawled out on the floor, half-asleep, their attempted crochet projects tossed aside as they cuddled under a shared blanket.
You smiled, heart full, and pressed a gentle kiss to Simon’s temple. Setting your own project aside, you stood, grabbing pillows and extra blankets. Carefully, you placed them around your boys, tucking them in. You made sure Johnny and Kyle were cozy, pulling the blanket up to their chins. John, half-awake, murmured a soft, “Thanks, love,” as you placed a pillow behind his head.
Finally, you curled back onto the couch beside Simon, his arms instinctively wrapping around you. His face, even in sleep, was peaceful, the usual hard lines softened. You buried your face in his chest, feeling his heartbeat steady and calm.
“This is perfect,” you whispered, though no one was awake to hear it.
Even if it meant crocheting at three in the morning, it was moments like these that made everything worth it—surrounded by the men you loved, feeling safe, cherished, and utterly at peace.

“Good morning, sleepyhead.”
There he was, leaning against the door frame, looking effortlessly handsome as always. His presence seemed even more magnetic after the words he’d left you with the night before, words that had kept you awake, replaying over and over in your mind.
"We’ll have plenty of nights together, don’t worry."
You hadn’t slept much, but who could blame you? Thoughts of Madrid, of Jude, and of how drastically everything was about to change had swirled in your head all night. But now, with him standing there, his familiar grin melting away your worries, it all seemed to make sense.
“Good morning,” you mumbled back, a sleepy smile tugging at your lips as you sat up. Jude crossed the room in a few quick strides and wrapped you in a hug, his embrace warm and reassuring, as if promising that everything would be okay.
“This feels weird,” you admitted, your voice barely a whisper against his chest.
He pulled back slightly, just enough to meet your eyes. “Weird? Why’s that?”
You shrugged, still struggling to put your feelings into words. “I don’t know… it’s just… surreal. Like this is all a dream or something.”
He smiled, that boyish, disarming smile you’d known since forever—the one that always made you feel safe, like nothing could ever go wrong as long as he was around. “I get it. But hey, you’ve got me. And I’m not going anywhere.”
You chuckled, the tension that had been knotted in your shoulders slowly melting away. You held onto him a moment longer, savoring the comfort of being close to him, before finally letting go.
Jude, always the playful one, grabbed your suitcase with a grin and started heading towards the door. “Come on, let’s get moving before you change your mind,” he teased.
As you watched him, it hit you just how surreal this all was. You’d never imagined that you’d be moving to Madrid with your childhood best friend, the same boy you used to chase around the playground, the same boy whose grandma used to joke you’d end up marrying one day. You’d laughed it off back then, never believing it could really happen.
But now, here you were. You thought back to when he first started getting famous, when he left for Dortmund, then Real Madrid, and how much you’d missed him. The messages, the late-night FaceTime calls, the way you both tried so hard to stay in touch despite the distance.
But now, one question lingers in your mind.
You're literally going to Madrid with your childhood best friend for who knows how long, the same one you made out with once after sharing a bed, and who constantly flirts with you.
You didn’t want to ask him that question because, well, he’s famous and has other things to think about. But the thought wouldn’t leave your mind.
“I’ve got a surprise for you, by the way,” his voice pulls you out of your thoughts. He knew how much you loved surprises.
“What is it?” you ask, a playful smile on your face.
“Wait and see.”
As soon as you arrive at the airport, the car takes a different turn from the usual route, stopping in front of a smaller yet equally impressive plane. Now you understand what the surprise was. And you felt a little silly for not realizing it sooner: Why would someone so famous take a commercial flight when they could afford a private jet?
As you stepped out of the car, your eyes still wide with surprise at the sight of the private jet in front of you, Jude chuckled and took your hand in his, leading you toward the sleek aircraft. His touch was warm and familiar, like it had always been since you were kids. But now, with everything that had changed, the fame, the move to Madrid, the endless possibilities ahead, his hand in yours felt different..
“Don’t tell me you’re surprised by this,” he teased, his grin contagious as you reached the steps of the plane.
“I mean, I should’ve seen it coming, but come on, Jude,” you said, giving him a playful shove. “A private jet? Really?”
He shrugged, still holding your hand as you both boarded. “Gotta travel in style now, don’t I?”
You rolled your eyes, but you couldn’t help the smile tugging at your lips.
The interior of the jet was even more luxurious than you’d imagined. Soft leather seats, a spacious layout, and every inch of it screaming luxury. Jude plopped down onto one of the oversized seats, pulling you down beside him before you could even take it all in.
“Get comfy, we’ve got a few hours ahead of us,” he said, stretching out as if the whole plane was just his personal living room.
You never thought you'd experience this. You remember when in the past Jude and Jobe used to fight a lot, and you just brought peace to them, that’s one of the main reasons their mom loved you.And that feels like yesterday and now everything changed.
As you sank into the soft leather seat beside Jude, you couldn’t help but let out a quiet laugh, the weight of it all finally starting to sink in. Jude turned to look at you, his eyebrows raised in curiosity.
“What’s funny?” he asked, a teasing smile playing on his lips.
You shook your head, still caught up in the whirlwind of memories. “Just thinking about how different everything is now. I mean, you used to fight with Jobe all the time, and I’d always have to step in and keep the peace. Now you're taking me to Madrid on a private jet.”
Jude chuckled, leaning back in his seat with a lazy grin. “Yeah, well, you were good at keeping us in line. Still are, actually.”
You laughed softly, shaking your head. “Come on, Jude, don’t start.”
“Still,” he said, nudging you playfully, “you’re younger, and I’m always going to be the one looking out for you. That’s just how it is.”
You huffed, pretending to be exasperated. “Four months, Jude. Four.”
“Doesn’t matter,” he replied with a smirk. “Still the older one, and I’m still going to protect you.”Jude gave you a smug smile, leaning back in his seat.
You rolled your eyes, smirking as you fired back, “From who? Jobe?”
Jude chuckled, nodding as if he were genuinely considering it. “Yeah, he can be pretty evil sometimes.”
You shook your head, laughing at the thought. “You’re ridiculous,” you muttered, shaking your head with a smile. His playful banter, the way he could always make you feel at ease, was exactly what you needed.
But there was something else you’d been thinking about—something you weren’t sure you should say. The words slipped out before you could stop them.
“When you were in Madrid,” you started, your voice a bit more hesitant than you intended, “I used to check the news about you. You know, just to see what was going on.”
Jude turned his head toward you, intrigued. “Oh, yeah? Keeping tabs on me?”
You rolled your eyes, but your smile faded as you continued. “Well, yeah… but not just for fun. There were times when I’d come across people calling you arrogant, or childish, and it kind of freaked me out.”
Jude blinked in surprise, his playful expression faltering for a second. “Freaked you out? Why?”
You hesitated again, not wanting to sound dramatic. “Because… I didn’t know if you’d changed. I mean, all those articles and posts made you sound like someone I didn’t recognize. And I guess I was scared to see you again, scared you wouldn’t be… you.”
There was a pause as Jude processed what you said, and you felt your heart thudding in your chest, waiting for his response. But instead of going serious, like you expected, he grinned—full-on, mischievous Jude.
“Oh, so you thought I’d turn into some big-headed superstar, huh?” he teased, raising an eyebrow. “What, did you think I was going to show up wearing sunglasses indoors and demand people call me ‘Mr. Bellingham’?”
You couldn’t help but burst out laughing, your worries easing as his joke broke the tension. “No! But—”
Jude leaned in, his grin widening. “Or maybe you were scared I’d start talking about myself in the third person. ‘Jude Bellingham doesn’t wait in line.’ ‘Jude Bellingham only flies private.’”
You shook your head, laughing even harder now. “Stop! That’s not what I meant!”
He leaned back in his seat, crossing his arms with mock arrogance. “You know what? Maybe I should start doing that. Sounds kind of fun.”
“Oh, please,” you said, playfully swatting his arm. “You’d be unbearable.”
Jude laughed, the warmth in his voice settling your nerves. “Nah, I get it. People love to talk. But you should’ve known better.I’m still me. Just with a bit more style and better hair.”
“Better hair, huh?” you teased, raising an eyebrow. “That’s debatable.”
He reached up, running a hand through his hair with exaggerated pride. “Debatable? This is prime hair right here. You’re just jealous.”
You rolled your eyes again, but the lightness in your chest was undeniable now. The Jude sitting next to you wasn’t the arrogant football star the tabloids sometimes made him out to be. He was still the same guy who used to annoy you with dumb jokes and competitive childish games, and still, the same guy who made you feel safe and at home.

Jude's house was incredible, a dream come true. He had told you about it before, but you never imagined it would be like this. You felt an overwhelming excitement, knowing you were experiencing something that millions of people could only dream of.
"Like it?" he asked, as he unloaded the suitcases from the car.
You were surprised because you thought someone else would do it for him, but it seemed he was doing it himself just to spend as much time with you as possible. The butterflies in your stomach fluttered, just as they always did whenever he was near.
You nodded, a little breathless. “Yeah, I mean… it’s unreal, Jude.”
He flashed that familiar boyish smile, the one that made your stomach do flips. “Wait ‘til you see inside.”
And he was right. The inside was even more stunning than you imagined—high ceilings, sleek furniture, and floor-to-ceiling windows that showcased a breathtaking view of the city below. You followed Jude through the living room, your eyes wide as you took it all in.
“I feel like I’m in a magazine or something,” you said, spinning in a slow circle to take everything in.
Jude chuckled as he dropped your bags at the base of the stairs. “Well, I did say I had more style now, didn’t I?”
You rolled your eyes, smirking. “Yeah, yeah, I’ll give you that one.”
He came up behind you, resting a hand lightly on your shoulder, and you could feel the warmth of his touch. “Hey,” he said softly, his tone a bit more serious now. “Do you want to go grab dinner? I know it’s been a long day, and there’s a place nearby I think you’d love.”
You glanced up at him, surprised but touched by the gesture. “Dinner? Right now?”
He nodded, his eyes soft and inviting. “Yeah. Just you and me. What do you say?”
You didn’t have to think twice. “Sure, sounds perfect.”
A smile broke across his face. “Great. Give me ten minutes, and we’ll head out.”
True to his word, Jude was ready quickly, and soon, you were heading out together.. The restaurant he’d chosen was chic but not overly formal, nestled in a quiet part of the city.
As you both sat down at a cozy table near the window, the ambiance was perfect: low lighting, soft music, and just enough privacy for you to feel like it was your own little world.
Jude ordered a bottle of wine, pouring a glass for each of you.
“So,” he said, leaning back in his chair with a teasing smile, “on a scale of one to ten, how jealous do you think Jobe is knowing that you’re with me now?”
You laughed, shaking your head. “Oh, he’ll surely give it back to me in a while”
Jude’s grin widened. “Yeah, well, too bad for him. You’re all mine now.”
The way he said it sent a flutter through your chest, and you couldn’t help but blush. He noticed, of course, and leaned in a little closer, his voice lowering just enough to make your heart race.
“Don’t tell me you’re getting shy on me now,” he teased, his eyes gleaming with mischief.
“I’m not shy” you protested, trying to hide your smile as you took a sip of your wine.
“Right,” Jude said, leaning even closer across the table. “You’ve never been shy a day in your life.”
You rolled your eyes but couldn’t help the laughter that bubbled up. “You’re annoying”
You weren’t sure who made the first move. Maybe it was him, maybe it was you, or maybe it was both of you leaning into the inevitable. But suddenly, his hand was brushing lightly against your arm, his fingers tracing a slow, deliberate path down to your wrist. It wasn’t much, just a simple touch, but it felt like everything.
His gaze dipped to your lips, and your heart raced in your chest as he took another sip from that glass. His voice, when he finally spoke, was low and rough, barely above a whisper.
“Do you ever think about it?” he asked, his breath ghosting over your skin.
You blinked, your heart pounding as you met his gaze. “Think about what?”
He swallowed, as if debating whether to say it out loud, and then, in a voice barely audible, he said, “When we kissed.”
Your breath caught in your throat, memories of that kiss rushing back to you—the way it had felt so easy and so right, yet so confusing at the same time. You haven’t talked about that since it happened, maybe it was time
“Jude…” you started, but your voice faltered.
He didn’t let you finish. “I haven’t stopped thinking about it.”
You shyly smiled, breaking eye contact and looking down, feeling the warmth of his words flush through you. Without knowing how to respond, you took another sip of your wine.
Jude noticed your reaction, letting out a soft chuckle. Leaning in close, his breath tickling your ear as he had to reveal a secret, he murmured,
“We should talk about this at home, shouldn’t we, Angel?”

The sun beams through the white linen curtains, salty ocean breeze drifting through the open window. The rays warm your skin as you kick off the sheets, stretching your arms above your head. You turn over, to find the space next to you empty.
Rubbing the sleepiness from your eyes, you yawn, inhaling the scent of breakfast. Throwing on Bucky’s soft blue button up, you pad out to the kitchen to find him at your stovetop, shirtless and sun kissed.
“I’m getting the full girlfriend experience, huh?”
He grins at the sound of your voice, entire body lighting up with it.
“Girlfriend,” he laughs. “This is the soulmate experience, baby. It’s even better.”
You shake your head, but you can’t fight the smile that etches itself on your face. He looks so at home here, so comfortable. He reaches up to grab a plate from your cupboard, and you feel the sudden urge to burst into tears.
He knows where everything is.
He’s learnt his way around the kitchen just like he’s learnt his way around your heart. Your soul. Your very existence.
“You okay?”
He turns off the burner and glides over to you, warm hands finding your hips like it’s second nature.
“What’s wrong? You like pancakes,” he teases, leaning in to press a kiss to your forehead tenderly. “Oh no. Did you want waffles?”
You shake your head, swallowing down the lump in your throat.
“I’m fine,” you say, but your voice cracks instantly.
“Doesn’t sound like it.”
He says it so gently, so carefully. You feel like a precious flower, something to be taken care of, cherished, loved. No one has ever made you feel like this.
“I just realised you… fit, here. Like you were always supposed to. I can’t really remember what this apartment was like before it had you in it too.”
Bucky cradles your face in his hands, tilting your head up to look at him.
“Wherever you are. That’s where my home is.”
You surge forwards to press your lips to his, alive and buzzing with the electricity of being loved so wholly. He reciprocates instantly, wrapping his arms around your back to pull you closer, so you’re chest to chest.
“Your pancakes are going to burn,” you mumble, forehead resting on his.
“Let them.”
“No, don’t let them. I’m not calling the fire department today.”
He laughs, kissing you again chastely before returning to his original position. He plates up your breakfast - pancakes, fruit, granola and yoghurt, with fresh coffee in your favourite mug.
“I could get used to this.”
“And you will,” he flirts, kissing the crown of your head. “Every day for the rest of your life, baby. You’re gonna have to wake up to my face forever.”
You pretend to shudder, laughing when he pinches your side.
“Come on, trouble. Let’s eat breakfast on the balcony and pretend we’re on a tropical vacation somewhere.”
“Sounds perfect.”
✵ ✵ · ✵ * · ✵
“We’re really doing this.”
You look up at Bucky, the heavy weight of his arm around your shoulders acting as a grounding agent. Your plates are discarded on the table, cleared and finished, the two of you curled up in your loveseat. The sun is getting warmer, and it’s bringing out Bucky’s freckles, all boyish and glowy.
“We don’t have a choice.”
“Honey girl, there’s always a choice.”
“Not this time,” you sigh, shifting so you can face him properly. “I wanted to do this on our terms, and now I feel like I’ve been forced into it. It isn’t fair.”
“We can wait,” Bucky reassures, confident and understanding. “We don’t have to do anything until you’re ready.”
“I am ready. I have been for a while. It just sucks that it feels like I’ve been pushed in a certain direction, you know?”
“I know,” he soothes, work rough fingertips tracing patterns on your bare legs. “But like you said, we were going to do it anyway. This is still our choice. These are still our terms.”
You press your lips onto his cheek, chuckling when his stubble tickles your skin. He retaliates by attacking you with kisses, planting them all over your face, wherever he can reach. You squeal, hands flying out to his bare chest to try and stop him.
“Your neighbours are going to think there’s a murder happening,” Bucky laughs, fingers sliding up your shirt to rest on your ribs.
“Oh no, they love you too much for that.”
He quirks his eyebrows in surprise.
“They do?”
“The lady that lives next door, Mrs Daniels - she’s like ninety, has that white cat you always see?”
Bucky nods in recognition, so you continue.
“She talks about how handsome you are every time I see her. Always asks when the ‘man that looks like a movie star’ is coming over next.”
He laughs, shaking his head as you tease him.
“Shut up.”
“I’m serious! She probably watches you come and go from her balcony. She’s gonna love it in the summer, when you turn up in your short shorts with no shirt on.”
Bucky chuckles, pulling you into him and leaning his head on top of yours.
“Don’t be jealous, baby. You’re the only one for me.”
“I better be,” you chide jokingly, pinching his thigh in warning.
“I’ve been waiting for you my whole life.”
There’s no humour, anymore. Just love. So much love.
“I’m here now,” you whisper. “And I’m not going anywhere. Ever.”
Bucky leans in to press a kiss to your lips, gentle and filled with a lifetimes worth of promise.
“I love you, honey baby.”
“I love you, Bucky Barnes.”
You let the morning sun slip over you like silk sheets, warm and smooth and completely luxurious. Bucky’s steady breathing grounds you slowly as peace and contentment settle into your bones, weighted and calming. No matter what happens today, you know one thing for certain - you have the security of Bucky’s love to fall back on.
✵ ✵ · ✵ * · ✵
You’ve been sat in Bucky’s truck for twenty five minutes.
It’s parked down the block from your parent’s house, just out of the way. You were pulling in to their street when you panicked, begging Bucky to stop the car so you could breathe for a second.
“Sweet girl, we’ll be fine.”
“I know. I know,” you exhale. Inhale again. “Why is this so hard?”
“Because we’ve been thinking about this moment ever since that first night.”
“It’s almost been a year.”
That seems to stop Bucky in his tracks for a second.
“It… it doesn’t feel that long. Feels like yesterday. But also, somehow, like I’ve loved you my whole life.”
You lean over the console to kiss him softly, trying to ignore the hummingbird fluttering of your heart in your chest.
“Honey, I can feel your anxiety, remember? If you don’t calm down a little, we’ll both collapse.”
“Sorry,” you laugh, taking a deep breath. “Sorry.”
Bucky intertwines his fingers with yours, thumb running over the backs of your knuckles. Soothing, like a field of lavender gently blowing in the breeze on the first day of spring.
“We have to do it sometime.”
“I know,” you nod, squeezing his hand once, twice, three times before pulling away and fixing your hair in the tiny mirror. “Let’s do this. Now or never.”
You pull up outside your childhood home, instantly relaxing a little at the sight of the colourful drapes and flowers in the windows.
“Shit, Buck. We haven’t even planned what we’re gonna say.”
“We don’t need to. Just speak from your heart, baby. I’ll follow your lead.”
When you walk up the driveway, you know there’s no turning back. You also know that the weight on your shoulders will feel a hell of a lot less heavy when you leave. It’s a double edged sword, but you’re ready to wield it, with love as your armour and Bucky as your shield.
You stand a foot apart and ring the doorbell, bouncing nervously on the soles of your feet.
“Hi, sweetheart. Oh - hey, Buck.”
“Hi, Mama.”
“Hi, Lori.”
“Didn’t expect to see you both today.”
You go to speak, but she continues quickly.
“I’m glad you’re here. We need to talk to you both about something. Come in, come in.”
You look at Bucky, realising suddenly that your chest is filled with a foreign anxiety. It’s his.
You squeeze his hand chastely as you walk past him to enter the house, kicking off your shoes in the hallway.
There’s something in the atmosphere when you walk into the living room. The sun is still shining, everything is in its rightful place… but it feels wrong. You know Bucky feels it too, judging by the way his muscles tense next to you.
“Is everything alright, Mama?”
You hate the way your voice sounds like a child’s, small and naive. Your Dad is sat on the couch waiting, always happy to see you. You press a kiss to his cheek before taking a seat across from him, Bucky sitting next to you. Your Mom joins your Dad, both of them looking at you with too much compassion for a normal day.
“What are you two doing here?” your Dad asks, voice still full of light.
Something inside of you is telling you to abort mission, postpone until further notice. You listen to it, wondering for a second if somehow you and Bucky can send messages to each other telepathically all of a sudden.
“Mama said you needed to talk to me. To us.”
He looks taken aback, only for a second. Something like sadness flashes in his eyes before he paints that familiar smile right back on his face.
“Yeah, we do. You sure you don’t wanna tell us why you’re here, first?”
“It can wait,” you reassure, catching Bucky’s minute nod from the corner of your eye.
“Okay,” your Mom begins. “First of all, I need to tell you not to panic, okay? It’s going to seem super scary, but it isn’t.”
Bucky slides closer to you by a millimetre, but you feel it like it’s a mile.
“I don’t really know how to tell you this, honey, so we’ll just start from the beginning. Jack?”
Your Dad nods before taking over the storytelling.
“It all started last year. I was doing some work in the backyard. One minute I was mowing the lawn, the next I was lying on the ground.”
All of the colour drains from your cheeks, and Bucky slides ever so slightly closer again.
“We thought maybe it was heat stroke, or dehydration. No cause for concern, and nothing your Mom’s iced tea couldn’t fix.”
She takes his hand in hers, both of them with their eyes fixed on you.
“But then it happened again. In the shower, this time. I didn’t hit my head, luckily, but I did whack my shoulder against the tiles, which hurt like hell.”
He laughs, and so does your Mom, but you’re not sure what’s funny. Anxiety is rolling off you in waves so strong, Bucky’s worried he might pass out.
Your Mom takes back the reigns, continuing.
“I was insistent that he saw a doctor, which he was reluctant about. Luckily, he agreed, finally,” she gives him a look, “and we got referred to a specialist.”
“What kind of specialist?” you choke out. It feels like someone is sitting on your chest, constricting your lungs with every passing minute.
“A cardiologist.”
It seems to be that word that unravels everything for you. All you can think is cardiologist heart attack cardiologist surgery cardiologist. Serious. Serious. Serious.
“Sweetheart?”
You grab Bucky’s hand, praying that the familiar touch will ground you back down to Earth. When it doesn’t, you feel like you’re falling, down and down and down with no end in sight.
“Honey, it’s okay. Hey, listen to me. You’re okay.”
Your Mom sits down on the other side of you as your Dad kneels down, forcing you to look at him.
“Sweetheart, don’t panic, okay? Everything’s going to be fine. I know it’s scary, but I’m okay.”
“For now,” you whisper, limp in your throat forming.
“I know it’s a lot to take in, and I know it’s probably not what you were expecting us to say. We thought we’d wait until we had answers to tell you… but it’s taking longer than expected. Which is why we’re telling you now. We don’t want you to feel like you’re in the dark.”
Bucky’s running his thumb over the lines on your palm, reassuring and steady. He knows exactly how to comfort you, like a warm blanket wrapped around your shoulders. If you listen carefully enough, you can hear the drumming beat of his heart. You tune into it, letting the familiar rhythm calm you down.
“Sorry,” you murmur. “I’m being dramatic.”
“You’re not being dramatic,” your Mom responds, squeezing her hand over your knee. “It’s overwhelming. And we’ve just… thrown it at you, with no warning. It’s a lot to take in.”
You’re anxious and scared and completely lost. You’re also safe and home and completely surrounded by love from all sides.
“I’m okay,” you nod, taking a deep breath.
Your parents return to their couch across from you, but Bucky’s hand doesn’t let go of yours. If they think it’s strange, they don’t say anything. You have a feeling they’re a little preoccupied.
“Now what?”
“Your Dad is still undergoing tests to get to the root of the issue. Whatever they find, we know we’ll all be okay.”
“Your Mom’s right. I have an appointment this afternoon for an EKG. They’re trying to rule things out slowly. We’ll get to the bottom of it, sweetheart.”
“Are you okay?” you ask, suddenly realising you’ve accidentally made this about you.
“I’m fine,” he laughs. “Seriously. I know it’s scary, but I feel good in myself for the most part. The most annoying thing is that I can’t predict it - it just happens. Very inconvenient, if you ask me.”
Your parents laugh, and this time, you try to chuckle with them.
“You’ll keep us updated, won’t you?”
Bucky’s voice surprises you, somehow. His fingers are still intertwined with yours, but you’ve been so focused on your Dad, you almost forgot he was there.
“Of course, Buck.”
“And if you ever need a ride to an appointment or anything, all you gotta do is ask, alright?”
“You offering to take me on your motorcycle?”
“Sure,” Bucky laughs.
“Absolutely not,” your Mom says at the same time.
You chuckle for real, now. This feels like normality - the four of you, joking around. You have to remind yourself, sometimes, that Bucky knew your Dad before he ever knew you. You were away at culinary school when they met, but you were told stories instantly about this new guy in town who bought the old Garage and drives a cool truck. Your Mom, of course, didn’t fail to mention his big blue eyes and chocolate brown hair, or the way his shirt hugged his biceps. You thought she was exaggerating, when she said he was handsome.
Oh, how wrong you were.
You’re one hundred percent sure you’ve never met a more beautiful person. Maybe it’s your Tethering talking. Maybe it isn’t. You’re not unaware of the way people look at Bucky - he’s got this old school movie star thing going on, and people seem to eat it up. You get it. You get it more than anyone.
But it isn’t his pretty face that makes your heart skip a beat. It’s just him. Him, with his contagious smile and healing laugh and observant eyes. Him, with his confident demeanour but gentle touch, his mind reading abilities, his talent for making you feel like you’re the only person in the room. He’s a rarity, Bucky Barnes. A diamond in the rough. You remind yourself everyday how lucky you are.
He knocks his knee into yours, pulling you out of your daydream. He gives you a look that asks are you okay? to which you nod subtly in reply. A conversation, somehow both silent and loud.
“As much as I’d love to stay here all day, we should get ready to go. My appointment is soon.”
Your Dad strides over to you, wrapping you in his arms. You instantly feel like a little girl again, safe and protected no matter what. You bury your face into his chest a little more, inhaling the familiar scent of your home.
“Everything’s okay, sweetheart,” he whispers into your hair. “Promise.”
You nod against him, tightening your arms ever so slightly. He gives you a squeeze, letting you know he got the message.
As you’re putting your shoes on in the hallway, you can hear your Dad and Bucky chatting away about the baseball game from the previous night, routine easily resumed. Your Mom brushes your hair back from your face, looking at you carefully.
“I almost forgot why you came here in the first place, babygirl. What’s up? What did you want to tell us?”
Your heart skips a beat and Bucky feels it, glancing over to you with concern in his ocean blue eyes.
“It’s okay, Mama. It can wait.”
She raises her eyebrows in scepticism.
“Promise,” you reassure. “Another day.”
She doesn’t look convinced, but lets it go anyway, pressing a kiss to your cheek gently.
“We’ll call you after his appointment and let you know what they say. We love you. So much.”
You hug her fiercely, realising that you don’t do it often enough.
“Love you guys. More than anything.”
Bucky gives you a nod that tells you he’s ready to go, both of you leaving a little different than you entered.
“Call us as soon as you get out of that room, okay?”
“We will, Buck,” your Dad laughs, mock saluting his best friend.
Bucky chuckles, falling into step next to you as you walk down the driveway. You make your way down the street, out of your parents view, before your knees give out. He manages to catch you just in time, strong arms wrapped around your middle. You both sit on the kerbside, Bucky rubbing soft patterns into your back through your shirt.
“Baby, hey. You okay? Talk to me.”
You take a deep breath, looking at him with watery eyes.
“What if it’s bad, Buck?” you whisper. “I can’t do this without him. He’s the best Dad in the world.”
Bucky pulls you closer, fitting you into his side perfectly. Two pieces of a jigsaw puzzle, made for each other.
“They don’t lie to you, honey. They’d tell you if it was really serious. All you can do is wait, and hope everything will be okay. Which it will.”
You rest your head on his shoulder, letting his warmth calm you down.
“My Mama knows something.”
“Like what?”
“About us. She didn’t say anything, but I could see it on her face. She didn’t push it any further, but she was definitely suspicious.”
“We’ll tell her soon. Give it a little more time.”
You nod, wrapping your arms around his bicep tightly. He presses a kiss into your hair, inhaling the scent of your shampoo as he does it.
“Let’s go home, hmm? We can sit in the sun for a while, chop up that pineapple we bought yesterday.”
“Sounds perfect,” you whisper, looking up at him.
The afternoon hits his face just right, all warm yellow light and soft angles on his cheeks. The intermittent salty breeze ruffles his hair, all fluffy and sea swept. He looks like an ancient statue, a work of art from the renaissance, a museum piece. The sun could burn out tomorrow, but you’ll have a life source forever. Your Soulmate.
Bucky takes your hands in his and helps you to your feet, heavy arm slung over your shoulders as you walk back to the truck.
Your light in the dark. Your water in the desert. You’ve never been more grateful for him.
✵ ✵ · ✵ * · ✵
“Close your eyes.”
Bucky’s driving you home, the sound of the ocean waves hitting the shore a replacement for the radio.
“What?”
“Close your eyes, sugar. I want to show you something.”
“How are you gonna show me if my eyes are shut?”
He chuckles, pinching your thigh.
“Just shut up and close your eyes.”
You smile gently before doing as he says, covering your face with your hands for good measure.
“Where are we going?”
“It’s a surprise. You’ll like it, I promise.”
You relax back into the seat, allowing the breeze from the open window to whip through your hair. Eventually you come to a stop, Bucky clicking off your seatbelt for you.
“Keep ‘em closed.”
Bucky sprints around to the passenger side, swinging open the door and wrapping his arms around you. He practically carries you out of the car, ensuring you don’t trip while you have no vision. He plants you on two feet, making sure you’re steady before he lets go of you.
“Okay. Open your eyes.”
You blink slowly, adjusting to the brightness of the afternoon.
You’re in the middle of nowhere. The two of you are stood on a huge, grassy plot of land, overlooking a small cove of the beach. You’re tucked completely out of the way, not a neighbour to be seen. All you can hear is the ocean, the birds, and the sound of your thumping heartbeat.
“Where are we, Buck? It’s pretty.”
He takes your hand, looking out towards the water.
“This is gonna be our house.”
Your head whips around in shock, confusion written all over your face.
“What?”
Your voice is barely above a whisper, but Bucky hears it, clear as day.
“I bought this land years ago, when I moved to town. I always knew I wanted to build a place of my own, but I could never get the plans off the ground. Something didn’t feel right. And then our Tethering happened…”
He squeezes your hand tightly, pulling you into his side.
“And everything fell into place. I was waiting for the right moment to show you, and it feels like you needed it today.”
You can’t speak. You’re completely lost for words, looking out at the perfect view. Turning to him, you throw your arms around his neck, burying your face in the crook of it and inhaling.
“Thank you,” you murmur into his skin. “It’s so perfect. You’re so perfect.”
“I’m so lucky,” he chuckles. “My God, you were worth the wait. I’d wait another ten lifetimes if I meant I got to love you again for one of them.”
You’re glad he’s holding onto you, or you’re convinced your legs would give out. You lean up to press a kiss to his lips, savouring the spearmint on his tongue.
“I love you,” you pray into his mouth. “I love you so much I can barely breathe.”
He kisses you back, harder, determined to show you exactly how he feels about you. Your fingers tangle into his hair, making him groan as you tug. His hands slide down to your ass, gripping harshly as he pulls you into his front. He wants every inch of you pressed together.
When you pull away, he rests his forehead against yours.
“You can have anything you want, you know.”
“Hmm?”
“With the house. I know we talked about it that night, at dinner in California. But if you think of anything else you’d like, all you gotta do is tell me.”
“One storey or two?”
“I was always thinking two.”
“Then I’d like a balcony, on the master bedroom. I love mine back at my apartment, especially in the summer.”
“Done,” he confirms, pecking your lips again.
“And a porch,” you whisper. “That we can sit on and watch the waves, when we’re old and grey.”
“I’ll be grey a lot sooner than you,” he jokes.
“You’re a lot more relaxed than me,” you laugh. “So I doubt that, actually.”
You rest your head on his warm chest, both of you swaying to the song of the ocean.
“We’ve got plenty of time, Buck.”
“All the time in the world, honey girl.”
The two of you stay wrapped in each other for a little while longer, enjoying the company of the one person you were destined for.
You can’t remember why you were ever so against soulmates. Loving Bucky is the easiest thing you’ve ever done.
✵ ✵ · ✵ * · ✵
The two of you spend the rest of the afternoon curled up on the balcony, letting the sun warm you from the outside in.
“Pineapple will always remind me of those margaritas,” Bucky smiles, throwing a piece into his mouth. “Our first date.”
“And last, apparently,” you laugh. “We haven’t been on one since.”
“I mean, we sort of date everyday, right?”
“Yeah, I guess we do. After we’ve told my parents, we don’t have to worry anymore. We can go out whenever we want, whenever we want.”
“Exactly,” he murmurs, leaning in to kiss you tenderly. “Not long now.”
The sound of your phone ringing startles you both, your hand flying out to find it in the cushions of the loveseat.
“Hello?”
“Oh, thank God. I half thought you were dead.”
“Not dead, Lacie. Just busy.”
She laughs, and you realise suddenly how much you’ve missed that sound.
“You’re back in town, right?”
“Yeah, just for a few more days. Then I’m gonna go back to Cali and pack up my stuff for good.”
“Perfect! Me and you are doing dinner tomorrow night. I want you to meet Cameron.”
“Really? Finally! I’m so excited, Lace. Your place, or are we going out?”
“Come to mine. Cam is the best cook, seriously. I’ve gotta run, we’re picking out a couch today. A couch, babe! Can you believe it?”
“Happy couch shopping, you two,” you laugh. “I’ll see you tomorrow. Love you.”
“Love you, bestie! Bye!”
You can’t help but smile when you hang up the phone.
“She’s gonna love having you back home again, isn’t she?”
“Oh, yeah. I can’t wait to see her more. I know she’s been so busy with her soulmate and me with work and with you, but I miss her like crazy. We text all the time, but it isn’t the same.”
“She knows about us, right?”
“Yeah,” you giggle. “She was the first person I told.”
“Thought so,” he laughs, pulling you back into his side. “Knew you wouldn’t be able to keep it from her for long.”
“She can practically read my mind. It was easier to avoid the truth over the phone, but the minute I saw her in person, I crumbled. She gives me this look, and I’m done for.”
Bucky chuckles fondly, pressing a kiss to your temple.
“I can’t wait to get to know her properly.”
“Oh, she’s gonna love you.”
“I hope so.”
“She will, trust me. She used to talk about how hot you were all the time. Pre-Cameron, of course.”
“I’m glad you’re finally getting to meet him.”
“Me too. I feel guilty, you know. It was the biggest moment of her life, and all of a sudden I’m up and leaving across the country, barely keeping in touch through scattered text messages. I was so wrapped up in you and in work, that I wasn’t there for her like I should have been.”
“I’m sure she’ll understand if you say this to her, honey baby. You have to remember that her Tethering was a lot less complicated than ours. They just got on with things, as easy as can be.”
“I guess you’re right,” you murmur into his chest. “I’ll tell her all of this when I see her tomorrow.”
He wraps both arms around you, pulling you impossibly closer. You relax instantly, the warmth of his skin and familiarity of his touch soothing you like melted honey.
Your phone rings again.
“I bet it’s Lacie moving the plans around,” you chuckle. “She always underestimates how long it takes her to get everything ready.”
You find your phone from under the cushion and answer it.
“Hi, sweetheart.”
“Mama?”
“Where are you?”
The sun disappears behind a cloud, sending a shiver down your spine.
“I’m at home.”
“I need you to go and get Bucky, and come to the hospital.”
Your heart stops in your chest, and Bucky has to breathe for the both of you.
“Why?” you ask, barely above a whisper.
“I’ll explain when you get here, but it’s more serious than we thought.”
She sounds scared, which in turn terrifies you. She’s the bravest person you know, your Mom. If she’s afraid, you know it’s bad.
“Okay,” you choke out. “I’m leaving right now. I, uh, I’ll get Bucky, and - do you need anything? Does Dad? I can bring whatever… whatever you need, what do you need?”
“Nothing, baby girl. Just you guys, for now, okay?”
“Okay. Yeah, okay. I, uh, I- I- I’ll leave right now. Where is he?”
“Follow the signs for Cardiology when you get here. Room 4.”
“He’s in a room? In a bed? Mama, please. What’s happening?”
You’ve never heard your voice sound so weak. You’re kicking yourself internally - you have to be strong for her. You need to be.
“Baby, just get here as soon as you can, okay? Get Bucky to drive. I love you.”
“I love you too. So much.”
You try to hang up the phone, but your hands are shaking so much that you’re unable to press the red button. Bucky does it for you, intertwining your fingers with his.
He pulls you to your feet, smoothing your hair back from your face.
“It’s all going to be okay, honey. Put your shoes on and grab your purse. I’ll get my keys.”
He kisses your forehead gently, letting his lips linger for a second before pulling you inside and shutting the balcony door.
He doesn’t let go of your hand the entire time, even as you drive to the hospital.
You feel like you’re drowning. Repeatedly slipping beneath the surface of the water, lungs heaving, desperate to stay afloat.
Bucky feels it, too. All he can do is hold your hand and hope for the best.
All he can do is hold your hand and hope for the best.

The holiday pretense -2-

Summary: Namjoon has never been a fan of the holidays. In fact, he could list more things that sucked about ‘The most wonderful time of the year’, than things that brought him joy. Yet, beneath his cynicism, a flicker of hope appeared this year, as the faint scent of homesickness hung in the air. Unfortunately, there’s one tiny little thing that keeps him from calling home- his lack of a girlfriend. But fear not; this holiday season, Namjoon’s smart mouth gets him in a situation where he has no choice but to approach you- his longtime friend and roommate- with an unexpected request. Pairing: Namjoon x f.reader Genre: fake-dating, idiots in love, friends to lovers/roommates to lovers au; crack, smut, fluff. Rating: explicit. Minors do not interact. Warnings: every single trope in the book; but with a twist. Dialogue heavy. OC is really bad at lying, they are absolute idiots. like, there is no way about it. pure idiots. anddd… I didn’t write in literal years so yeah, this is gonna be fun. Yes. It is a warning. Smut warnings: to be added~ Word count: Chapter 2-9k Credits: this was literally one of those ‘if no one is going to write this, I will’ because there are not enough friends-to-lovers Namjoon fics out there. And none (that I know of) where the main character feels bad for lying to his family when pretending to date him. This work would not have been possible without the very kind and patient @callmenoona25, who not only helped me beta-read but also served as a guiding light during those moments when I wanted to rage-delete everything. Thank you for all your help! (and please keep helping me coz idk what I’d do without your constant encouragement) Author's note: We’re already in December. Damn… Enjoy. Merry Christmas. part 1: here, part 2: reading, part 3: here , part 4: here
Namjoon peered down at your sleeping form, his tired eyes tracing the soft, quirky murmurs that drifted from your lips as you burrowed deeper into his chest. What started as a faint whimper blossomed into a quiet, endearing snore, drawing a gentle smile from him.
He hadn’t planned to wake this early, but sleep had eluded him for the fast few hours. These quiet pre-dawn moments usually brought him peace—a hushed pause before the day took over. Today, however, his mind was restless, skimming over scattered thoughts until it inevitably circled back to you.
You looked like a dream. The soft morning light seeped through the curtains, bathing you in a warm, golden glow even as you nestled deeper into his body. He couldn’t tear his gaze away, mesmerized by the delicate lines of your face. His eyes lingered on the gentle curve of your lips—the same lips he’d kissed just hours before…
Lost in his thoughts, he didn’t realize how intently he was staring, until your eyes suddenly fluttered open. Instinct kicked in, startled, you both reacted at the same time, and you jumped up just as he tried to lean back. The both of you groaning in unison as you cradle your forehead, which had slammed painfully against his chin.
“What the hell are you doing?” you cry, urgency quickly replacing the sleepiness in your voice.
“You were snoring. I’m sorry,” Namjoon defended, rubbing the spot where you collided.
“I don’t snore!” you glare up at him, eyes finally focusing enough to see the blood gushing from his nose. “Oh my god, I’m so sorry!” You leaned over him to grab a napkin from the bedside table. But still half asleep, the hand you’d placed between his legs couldn’t support your weight, and you crashed right onto his belly, eliciting a loud “oof” as he fell back on his pillow.
“I’m sorry,” you repeated, your face smushed against him as you struggle to grab a napkin. In your frantic attempt, you knocked the tissue box off the table, sending tissues whirling to the ground.
“Just- ow!” He winced when you pressed the napkin to his nose, confusion evident on his face. He clearly hadn’t expected blood or to be in such a vulnerable position so early in the morning.
“I’m sorry,” you say for the third time, slightly loosening your grip on his face.
“Stop apologizing,” he mumbled “It’s my fault too.” Namjoon took the tissue from your hands and pressed it harder against his nose trying to suppress the stinging sensation.
You lingered there for a moment, captivated by the tissue grazing his lips, until the warmth of his skin under your cheek snapped you out of it. His shirt had ridden up in the altercation, baring a sliver of his toned stomach, now conveniently pressed against your face.
As if sensing your awareness, Namjoon furrowed his brows and gave you a quizzical look, prompting you to sit upright, the blanket trailing behind you like a cape.
“Yes, it is! What’s wrong with you?” You scolded. “Do you always stare at people when you sleep next to them?”
“I wasn’t staring!” Namjoon’s head shot up; his voice defensive but laced with amusement. “You were snoring.”
“I don’t snore!” you shot back, despite having no evidence to support your claim. You struggled to untangle yourself from the blanket, nearly tripping in your haste to escape. The bathroom door closed with an accidental slam behind you, leaving you momentarily alone with your spiralling thoughts.
Leaning over the sink, you splashed cold water on your face, the chill biting at your skin and grounding you—if only for a moment. Yet your heart refused to cooperate, its erratic rhythm spiking again when you heard the faint shuffling from the bedroom, followed by a soft, frustrated “Damn it.”
You glanced at your reflection in the mirror, meeting your own wide-eyed, dishevelled stare. Tangled hair perfectly framing your flushed cheeks, the hoodie you’d borrowed from Namjoon sitting askew on your shoulders and remnants of sleep clinging stubbornly to your face.
Charming. Just the image you wanted to project.
Then, your gaze drifted to the mint toothpaste sitting on the counter, and a fresh wave of emotions washed over you. It hit you all at once—His lips pressed to yours, the warmth of his breath against your skin, and the look he’d given you after.
The way he looked at you…like he was searching for something. Or maybe you were imagining it. God, you hoped you were imagining it.
You gripped the edge of the sink, leaning into it as embarrassment burned its way down your spine.
But deep beneath the flurry of second-guessing and distress, you manage to find a crumb of courage while quietly going through the motions.
Taking a shaky breath, you pushed yourself upright and finished the small, familiar task of brushing your teeth. As you twisted the faucet shut, you stole one last glance at your reflection, your eyes searching for reassurance.
With resolve that felt both flimsy and monumental, you stepped back into the bedroom, bracing yourself for whatever came next.
Namjoon was still lying on the bed, a new tissue pressed against his nose. He looked up as you enter, and an unexpected flicker of self-consciousness crept in, making you hyper-aware of every step you took.
“Are you okay? You asked, attempting a softer tone.
“Yeah,” he mumbled, lowering the napkin to inspect the bright red spot there. “Just a bit of a love tap, you know?”
“Don’t make it weird,” you shoot back, but the words only made him laugh softly, easing some of the tension in your chest.
You grab a clean tissue and lean in closer to inspect the damage. "I'm really sorry," you say, perching on the edge of the bed. You take the napkin from his hands with little resistance and replace it with your own. "I didn't mean to hurt you."
"It's okay," he replies, his voice soft. "But next time, maybe warm me about the snoring.”
"I don’t snore!" you exclaimed, the defensiveness in your tone spiking and earning another heartfelt laugh from him.
“Okay, fine. You don’t,” he said, raising his hands in mock surrender. But just as you were about to relax, he added under his breath, “Next time, I’ll record you.”
You narrowed your eyes and considered actually pinching his nose.
“You’re impossible.”
Namjoon only grinned, dimples deepening, as you carefully pulled the tissue away to dab the remains of the nosebleed. The softness of your touch seemed to quiet him; his teasing replaced by something warmer. There was a tenderness in the way you focused on his injury, small lines of worry forming on your forehead. He wanted to laugh, seeing as you dealt with more dramatic injuries in the past, yet he didn’t want to disturb you as you carefully touched his cheek with your free hand. The warmth of your palm contrasting sharply with the chill of the morning air.
As if you could feel the weight of his gaze on you, you look up, meeting his eyes.
“You’re blushing again.”
“Shut up.” You muttered, your cheeks heating further as you refocused on his nose, cleaning the surrounding area as if he were made of porcelain. You kept your attention on the injury, desperate to ignore the proximity—and the gentle warmth of his breath against your skin and the inexplicable tightness in your chest.
“There,” you finally murmured, your voice barely above a whisper, breaking the stillness as you placed the tissue aside. “All better.” To diffuse the tension, you gave his cheek a light pinch before standing up to tidy the room.
Turning your back to him, you busied yourself with cleaning, scooping up the crumpled tissues littering the bedside table. But Namjoon’s eyes never left you. He watched the way you moved, the way your hair caught the light, and the way you scrunched your nose in irritation when you realized how much of a mess you’d made earlier.
When you bent down to retrieve a stray napkin from under the bed, you caught him staring again. This time, a soft laugh escaped him when he realized he’d been caught red-handed.
Before he could say anything, you grabbed the discarded blanket and tossed it at him.
“So, what’s the plan for today?” you asked quickly, moving toward your suitcase and fumbling with the zipper, your voice a little too casual.
“I’m taking you to a bakery,” his voice was muffled as he poked his head out from under the covers. “And my dad asked us to pick up a Christmas tree.”
Your heart skipped a beat at the mention of a Christmas tree. Even though the holiday spirit felt far away in this moment, a surge of excitement stirred in your chest. “A Christmas tree?” You echoed, trying to mask the intrigue in your voice with an air of nonchalance.
“Yeah,” he replied, running a hand through his messy hair. “I thought we could decorate it together tonight.”
“You hate decorating the tree.”
“True,” he chuckled, “but I’d rather suffer through it with you than alone. Besides, my parents have some ornaments that I think you’ll like.”
You paused, makeup bag in hand, feeling his words settle over you. In the two years you’d lived together, Namjoon had never once shown a shred of enthusiasm when it came to decorating the apartment. He was more the type to lounge on the couch with a book or a video game while you tangled yourself in string lights and sparkling baubles, only for him to chime in at the end with a “You missed a spot”. Still, he always helped place the star on top —mostly because you couldn’t reach it, and he was taller.
“You’re volunteering for your own torture?” You glanced over your shoulder, eyebrow raised, just as he swung his legs off the bed and stretched his arms high above his head.
Your breath hitched at the sight of him leaning back, his shirt lifting just enough to reveal the muscles flexing underneath. The morning sunlight steamed through the window, contouring his skin with an irresistible golden hue.
Quickly you turned back to your makeup bag, rummaging unnecessarily for a lipstick as warmth crept up your neck and onto your cheeks
“My mom will force us either way.” He declared, the faint defeat in his tone punctuated by a dramatic sigh ash he strolled towards the bathroom.
You let out a small laugh at his resignation, but it got caught in your throat when he reached for the hem of his shirt and pulled it off, tossing in onto the bed.
Your gaze betrayed you for half a second, flickering toward him before you could stop yourself. The lean lines of his back, the soft stretch of his shoulders, the way his skin gleamed faintly in the light—everything you weren’t supposed to notice left an imprint far too vivid in your mind.
Heart pounding, you forced your eyes back to your bag, gripping it as though it were a lifeline. But it was too late. You were certain he’d seen your reaction.
“See something you like?” His teasing voice reached you just as he disappeared into the bathroom.
Your face flamed, and you whipped around, glaring at the now-closed door. “You’re impossible!” You called out, loud enough for him to hear over the sound of the running water.
~~~~
The aroma of freshly brewed tea greeted you as you stepped out of the room, mingling with the faint hum of life coming from the kitchen. The soft click of the bathroom door shutting behind Namjoon grounded you, though your thoughts still spun wildly. You took a deep breath, willing yourself to regain composure, but the sound of running shower only stirred your imagination further—steam rising, droplets tracing the contours of his bare skin. Heat crept up your neck, and you shook your head sharply, chastising yourself. Get it together.
In a desperate attempt to regain control after the completely unfair sight of your sun-kissed, shirtless friend, you decided a little distance might actually do you some good. Grabbing the first cozy sweater and pair of jeans within reach, you tugged them on and practically bolted out of the room.
He’s your friend, you reminded yourself firmly, though the mantra did little to steady the pounding heart in your chest.
In the kitchen, Mrs. Kim and Minhi were seated at the dining table, morning sunlight streaming through the large windows. The golden light bathed the cozy space, catching on the delicate wisps of steam curling up from their teacups.
“Good morning, my dear,” Mrs. Kim greeted warmly, lifting her head to meet your gaze. “Did you sleep well?”
You smiled, pushing away any lingering thoughts from earlier, and took a seat at the table. “Yes, thank you,” you replied, carefully avoiding any mention of what had just transpired.
“Is Namjoon taking you out?” Minhi asked, her bright eyes sparkling with curiosity over her teacup. You could almost swear there was a hint of a smirk forming on her lips.
You confirmed with a shy nod, but a new wave of heat crept up your spine, igniting your ears as if someone had turned up the thermostat.
Mrs Kim’s face broke into a broad grin. “Do you want me to whip you up something to eat first? Coffee or tea?” she asked, already rising from her chair.
“No, no,” you quickly interjected, waving your hands “We’re leaving in a few minutes. Namjoon’s just getting ready.”
Naked in all his glory in the shower…
You forced your mind back to the present as Mrs. Kim’s kind gaze lingered on you. Smoothing down your sweater, you took a steadying breath, doing your best to appear collected. You really had to pull yourself together.
“Is he taking you to Ajumeoni’s bakery?” Mrs. Kim asked, settling back in her chair with a huff. “At this rate, he’s paying for her grandkids to go to college.”
“C’mon Mom,” Minhi piped in. “The strawberry tarts are just-” She closed her eyes and inhaled dramatically, as if savouring the scent of sweet pastries. “They’re heavenly, I swear.”
Her enthusiasm was infectious, but Mrs. Kim merely waved her off.
“Alright, alright,” she relented, her own smile softening the mock exasperation in her voice “Just be home in time for dinner.”
“Yes, of course,” you nodded dutifully, resolute in your mission to be the perfect pretend-girlfriend today —a supportive friend, and nothing more.
“Jackson’s picking them up after work, mom, don’t worry.” Minhi said, her laughter cutting through your spiralling thoughts.
“He is?” you asked, blinking in surprise but taken in by her contagious laughter.
“Did you think you’d carry the tree in the metro?” Minhi giggled, her gaze flicking to the hallway as hurried footsteps echoed from upstairs.
Moments later, Namjoon appeared, his dimpled smile lighting up the room.
“Good morning!” he called out, running a hand through his freshly styled hair, the effortless charm in his voice matching his appearance. The brown sweater he’d chosen hugged his tall frame perfectly, drawing your attention to the way it accentuated the broad lines of his chest. The golden necklace at his collarbone caught the soft morning light as he bent down to plant a sweet kiss on his mother’s cheek.
Then, his eyes found yours, playful and warm before winking your way. “Are you ready?”
You fought to suppress the blush creeping up your cheeks, admiring him for a fraction too long. The vivid memory of his shirtless body flashed in your mind, and for a moment, words seemed to escape you.
“Hey, yeah, I’m all set,” you finally managed.
Namjoon’s smile just widened, a teasing softness in his eyes as he stepped closer. The scent of his cologne, fresh and warm, mingled with the aroma of tea as he leaned down toward you.
“You look really good.” He said, his voice low and sincere.
All your mental preparations evaporated.
You glanced down at your grey sweater and jeans, disbelief flickering in your mind. Were you two looking at the same thing?
“Thanks. You don’t look bad yourself.” You replied, attempting a casual tone, despite yourself, but you’re certain your tomato red face gave you away.
Minhi and Mrs. Kim were shamelessly observing, their amusement barely concealed. Minhi raised an eyebrow, a mischievous smirk playing on her lips, while Mrs. Kim hid her laugh behind her teacup.
“Are you two going to stare at each other all day, or are you leaving?” Minhi nudged, leaning back in her chair with a knowing grin.
Namjoon chuckled, breaking the moment as he pulled back slightly. “We’re going, we’re going,” he assured, offering his hand to help you up.
As you stood, his palm rested briefly on the small of your back, sending a warmth through you that lingered. He shot his mother a cheeky smile as he led you toward the door.
“Don’t wait up,” he added with mock innocence, ushering you down the hall, and earning himself a pinch to the side form you.
~~~
The morning light was bright, yet it did little to chase away the frost in the air. All bundled up in your puffy winter coat, you walked through the bustling neighbourhood streets, the wind nipping at your cheeks as sunlight glinted off fresh snow. Beside you, Namjoon strolled at an easy pace, his tall frame hunched slightly against the cold.
The shop windows glittered with seasonal displays- strings of lights, shimmering ornaments and snowy landscapes. Every so often, Namjoon would break the silence with a light-hearted comment or snippets from his childhood- stories that warmed you despite the cold.
“Look at that,” he nodded towards a window filled with beautifully wrapped presents underneath a grand Christmas tree. “I used to think those were real. I’d stare at them for hours, hoping someone would let me take a peek inside.”
You giggle, picturing a younger Namjoon, starry-eyed and full of wonder. “Did you ever get to sneak a peek?”
He shook his head, the soft pink on his cheeks deepening in the cold. “No way! My mom had a sixth sense for that kind of stuff. She always caught me.” His warm laugh carried over the frosty air, lifting your spirits even as the chill settled in your bones. Without thinking, his hand found, fingers curling gently around yours as he led you down the street.
A little later, he stopped again, his gaze stolen by a snug bookstore with a charming display in the window. The small shop exuded warmth, its large front window showcasing a centrepiece of fake snow, big red bows and a collection of carefully arranged books. His eyes lit up as they landed on a particular title propped up prominently in the centre.
“Would you mind if we go in?” he asked, nodding towards the book, excitement brightening his face.
You followed his gaze, your heart sinking and cheeks flooding with heat the moment you recognized the book. Panic sets in as your mind scrambles for an excuse. It was a book from a Korean author who had recently burst onto the literary scene, earning praise for their intricate storytelling and philosophical metaphors. Naturally, Namjoon had fallen in love with their work, dissecting every layer of meaning in conversations that you secretly loved, but teased him mercilessly for.
You had heard so much about the author, that when you saw the newest release weeks ago, you knew it was the perfect gift for him.
“No!” you blurted out quickly, voice sharp enough to startle him.
“What?” He turned to you, eyebrows lifting in surprise. “Why not?”
“Because…” you hesitated, heat still rising to your cheeks as you struggled to find a good enough reason. But after a few seconds, you sighed in defeat and crossed your arms. “Because I already got it for you. You can’t buy it.”
His expression softened, a big grin spreading across his face as he stepped closer to you. “You got it for me?”
“Yes,” you muttered, averting your eyes as your blush deepened. “So, you can’t ruin the surprise. Keep walking, Kim Namjoon.”
He chuckled, his dimples making a brief but devastating appearance as he gave your arm a playful squeeze, holding you in place. “Alright, I’ll let it go. But…” He leaned in slightly, his voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper, “Did you see the decorations?”
You blinked at the sudden shift in the topic and followed his gaze. He was nodding toward the shop entrance, just a little further away, adorned with twinkling fairy lights and festive greenery. Your eyes drifted upward, landing on the small spring of mistletoe dangling above the doorway. Its pale berries glinting like snow in the soft light.
His hands burrowed deeper into the pockets of his coat as he tilted his head toward it, a playful grin spreading across his face. “Better be careful with that,” he teased, his voice laced with mock seriousness.
You raised an eyebrow, watching the delicate plant sway slightly in the winter breeze. “It’s bad luck not to kiss under it,” Namjoon clarified, watching you with a hint of challenge in his expression.
“Since when are you so superstitious?” you asked, a laugh escaping you as you shook your head in disbelief.
“I’m not,” he admitted with a shrug, though the sheepish grin that tugged at his lips made his intentions clear. “I just like covering all my bases.”
Before you could answer, Namjoon leaned closer, his breath a soft warmth against your skin. His lips brushed your chilled cheek in a quick, fleeting kiss—a touch so warm and unexpected it made the cold air around you feel sharper by comparison.
You stood frozen for a moment, your cheek tingling where his lips had been.
Namjoon pulled back, his grin deepening, dimples carving into his cheeks. “There,” he said lightly, straightening his coat as if nothing had happened. “No bad luck now.”
Normally, you’d brush off his antics as harmless teasing meant to get a rise out of you. But this time, it managed to frits your brain. You stare at him, a mixture of indignation and disbelief sparking in your chest. “Kim Namjoon, you-”
He raised his hands in mock surrender, already stepping back towards the bakery door he’d been guiding you all along. “Don’t blame me, blame the mistletoe,” he quipped, holding the door open for you, the bell above it chiming softly.
Your cheeks still burned as you stepped past him, shooting him a glare that lacked any real heat.
Inside the bakery, the scent of sweet cinnamon and vanilla wrapped around you like a warm embrace. The bell above the door chimed softly again as Namjoon followed, the sound blending seamlessly with the cozy hum of conversation and the occasional clink of porcelain mugs.
The interior was just as inviting as the aroma —a rustic charm, with walls lined with wooden beams and subtle golden accents. Twinkling fairy lights cast a soft glow over the room, illuminating the rows of pastries displayed behind a pristine glass countertop.
Puffed-up croissants sat beside glistening hotteok, their caramelized centres looking absolutely delicious. Spiralled kkwabagi dusted with sugar and candied sweet potatoes. And then there were the cakes — delicate, crowned with fresh berries and swirls of vanilla cream, their perfect edges almost too beautiful to disturb.
Namjoon walked over to the counter, his tall frame leaning slightly as he studied the pastries with an almost childlike delight. The faint flush on his cheeks from the cold only added to his charm, softening his sharp featured and making him just the more endearing.
You couldn’t help but watch him, captivated the way his eyes shone with delight. There was something so disarming about his enthusiasm, so pure in its simplicity, that it made the flutter in your chest impossible to ignore.
“Will you let me order for you?” He asked, suddenly interrupting your thoughts.
“Yes, of course,” you smile, the slight flutter in your stomach making you laugh softly. As he turned to the counter, his brows furrowed in exaggerated concentration, you couldn’t help but admire him anew. Namjoon has always been thoughtful, but this moment felt particularly tender, as though he was putting in the extra effort to make it memorable.
The bakery was alive with the bustle of other patrons, their laughter interlaced with the clinking of kitchen utensils in the back. A barista was busy steaming milk for lattes, while the warmth of the oven diffused toward you, chasing away any lasting chill from outside.
Namjoon finally ordered a selection of absolutely mouth-watering cream filled croffles and piping hot coffee. The lovely old lady at the serving counter lit up when she recognised him, leaning over to pinch his cheeks playfully. She gushed about how tall he had grown and how handsome he was, even calling her husband from the back to see Namjoon after all these years. You giggle softly, enjoying the lively exchange as Namjoon laughed, clearly relishing in the attention while trying to dodge her affectionate teasing. In the end, he walked away with an extra serving of milk bread as a ‘parting gift’ which he gratefully accepted, beaming as he thanked her.
The table Namjoon chose was tucked in a quiet corner, its window overlooking the bustling streets outside. The festive neighbourhood, framed by twinkling lights and snowy sidewalks, looked like a scene pulled straight from a snow globe. And as you settled into your seat, snowflakes began to drift gently from the sky, only adding to the hallmark-movie charm that seemed to influence the day.
“Here you go,” Namjoon settled the croffle in front of you. It was golden brown, with a crispy exterior that cradled the rich cream filling inside, adorned carefully with gingerbread crumbs — arguably, it was a masterpiece on a plate. He didn’t sit down yet, instead turning to fetch the coffee from the café counter
“Kim Namjoon?” a voice called out, and you looked to see a beautiful girl with big doe eyes shining once she looked at him, her pouted lips curving into a charming smile “I’m Min Iseul, do you remember me?”
Namjoon seemed shocked for a moment, but quickly regained his composure, his smile widening as he replied, "Oh my god, yes, hi! How have you been?"
“You know,” she smiled “life in a small town tends to be quiet. But what about you-?”
You watched from the corner of the table, feeling a tightness in your chest as Iseul place a hand on Namjoon’s arm. A frown formed involuntarily on your face as a pit began to settle in your stomach. Their conversation continued, the sound of their voices becoming a distant murmur as you forced your gaze downward, glaring at the croffle on your plate.
It felt horrible to realize that the sudden pang was indeed jealousy —raw and undeniable, it seemed it had taken root in your heart without your consent.
What was happening to you? You had always viewed Namjoon as a friend. You had watched him flirt with countless girls without a second though, yet now, here you were, on the verge of snapping at the mere sight of a pretty girl touching his arm. And of course she was perfect for him. She looked up at him as if he single-handedly hung up the stars, with her perfect hair, perfect smile, and that perfect body that made even the bakery apron look like high fashion.
It wasn’t just about Iseul, though. It was about something deeper, something you couldn’t quite explain. It was about not wanting to be replaced and a fear that quietly whispered to you that perhaps, you already had been.
As they continued their chat, the world outside quietly transformed. The snow began to blanket the streets in a delicate layer, framing the moment like a quaint, picturesque postcard. Inside, however, it felt like a different story. You picked at the croffle, the rich cream suddenly feeling too sweet compared to the bitter twist in your mood.
Finally, Namjoon returned, coffee in hands, a bright smile still lighting his face. “Sorry about that! Iseul and I used to be in the same classes at school,” he said, then paused when he noticed your expression. His brows furrowing in concern.
“Is everything okay?” he asked, his voice gentle as he reached out, taking your hand in his.
You forced a smile, trying to shake off the weight of the moment. “Yeah, just… it’s nothing.” You lied, tasting the bitterness on your tongue. God, you hated lying.
He studied you for a moment longer, and for a brief second, you swore you saw something shift in his eyes.
“Alright,” he said slowly, a hint of uncertainty lingering. “Well, let’s dig in! You have to try the milk bread. I promise it’s worth it!”
As you took a bite, followed by a big gulp of coffee, you resolved to push away your insecurity, even if only for today. After all, the reality of your friendship was simple: while you may never make his heart flutter like Iseul seemingly did, you could certainly raise his blood pressure.
Namjoon started a new conversation about the last book he read, and you fell into the familiar flow of dialogue as the snowy scene outside continued to unfold. But every now and then, your gaze would drift to the window, catching a glimpse of the town dressed in white. You found yourself wondering if it was possible to be both happy for him, and fearful of losing him, all while managing to still be his friend amidst the chaos of unbidden feelings.
“Do you remember Hoseok?”
You answered Namjoon’s question with a nod, seeing as he pulled you too abruptly from your thoughts. “He’s the pretty one that stayed over for spring break?”
Namjoon laughed, his eyes gleaming with the unmistakable light that made your heart skip a beat —even as you fought against it. Usually, his laughter would unravel the tight knots in your chest, but now, it seemed to tighten them further.
You remembered the visit well — Hoseok rolled up all the carpets in your living room, turning it into an impromptu dancing studio. He was kind, like all of Namjoon’s friends, but he also ate all your snacks and took great pleasure in flirting with you every time you ran into each other, much to Namjoon’s discomfort.
“Yeah, you two broke my laptop,” you started, but he cut you off.
“And I got it fixed!” he countered, defending his clumsy actions, which only made you laugh.
Namjoon chuckled, stirring his coffee absentmindedly. “He invited us over for a Christmas party tomorrow. It’s a little get together, if you want to go,”
“Definitely,” you replied, though your enthusiasm felt forced. The prospect of a party sent a thrill through you, but underlying that was a twinge of uncertainty. Would Iseul be there? Would it be just another night of watching Namjoon flirt with someone else knowing you’re just playing the part of girlfriend?
As you took another bite of the croffle, its sweetness still felt bitter, much like the turmoil in your heart. You wanted to be happy for Namjoon, wanting to fulfil the role you signed up for, but now, beneath your smile, there was a complicated mess of fear and longing. More than ever, you felt like all your walls might come crumbling down.
“Are you sure you’re okay?” Namjoon’s voice cut through your thoughts again, concern lingering beneath his words “You seem distant.”
You force a smile, but the ache in your chest screamed at you to be honest, to share your doubts instead of masking it under a façade of indifference.
“Yeah, I’m fine,” another lie. How could you possibly explain the heaviness that sat at the bottom of your stomach, the envy bubbling silently inside of you, the tightness in your throat that made it hard to breath?
Namjoon leaned back, his warm gaze unwavering, clearly unconvinced. But for the rest of the meal, he didn’t press further. You both continued to eat in comfortable silence, even as the air thickened with unspoken words.
The snowfall outside intensified, painting the windows with a blur of white by the time you were done, and you feared, once again, that the outfit you had chosen was ill-fitted for the icy weather.
Namjoon picked up a box of strawberry tarts for Minhi on the way out, and as he opened the door for you, you saw Iseul waving at him—a darling wave that ignited a firestorm of nerves deep within you.
In that moment, logic fled your mind. Without thinking, you grabbed Namjoon’s coat collar and pulled him towards you, pressing your lips to his. His eyes widened, a mixture of shock and confusion flickering across his face. The warmth of his body felt so close, yet the distance between you —created by your impulsive actions — seemed insurmountable.
You can’t believe what you were doing!
Namjoon was frozen for one second, but then he melted into the kiss. His free hand gently cupping your face, as if he were afraid, you’d run if he moved too quickly.
Namjoon’s lips were soft against yours, his warmth seeping through the layers of your clothes and spreading through you like a slow burn. The world outside seemed to blur even more, the cold, the noise of the streets, the snow rushing into the bakery, it all faded into an unimportant backdrop. All that mattered was the feeling of his lips against yours —gentle, hesitant, yet impossibly comforting.
For a moment, you almost didn’t regret it.
Then, just as quickly as it started, the kiss ended. Namjoon pulled back slightly, his hand still cupping your face, his thumb brushing gently over your cheek as if seeking reassurance. His gaze flickered between your eyes, searching for something.
You felt the rush of heat flood your face as reality hit like a ton of bricks. What did you just do? The panic set in, an overwhelming wave crashing against your chest. You tried to swallow it down, but the vulnerability felt raw, exposed.
“I-I’m,” you stammered, stepping back slightly, your hands trembling as you pushed them into your coat pockets. “Mistletoe!”
Namjoon blinked, his brows furrowing in confusion. His hand remained where it was for a moment, as if unsure whether to pull away or reach for you again. The warmth of his fingers against your skin was grounding, but the panic in your chest made it difficult to breath. You could hardly believe what you’d just done, but somehow, you still managed to squeeze out the most absurd explanation you could think of.
“Mistletoe,” you repeated, almost too quickly, the word falling past your lips like the snowflakes around you, each syllable hanging in the frigid air like a whispered secret.
His hand dropped to his side, the warmth from his touch slipping away as a flicker of something—concern, confusion, or maybe disappointment—crossed his face. It was hard to pinpoint, but whatever it was, it left an uncomfortable weight settling in your stomach.
He blinked, as if trying to make sense of the situation, then glanced at the mistletoe above the door. His expression shifted again, more uncertain now, and for a brief moment, there was a palpable silence between you, the world around you swirling in a soft flurry, but it felt like everything had stopped.
“Mistletoe?” he repeated, almost tentative. His eyes didn’t meet yours immediately; instead, they lingered on the mistletoe, as if searching for an answer in the small plant.
You nodded, fighting to keep your voice steady, but your throat felt tight, like the words were getting stuck somewhere between your chest and your mouth.
“Yeah,” he concluded, “I guess we could always put the blame on the mistletoe…” he said, his voice a little quieter now, as if he was still trying to grasp what had just happened.
You were about to argue further, to say something—anything—that would ease the tension building between you both, but just then, someone called out from inside the bakery.
“Hey! Make up your mind! Are you leaving or staying? You’re letting snow inside!” The voice was half-joking, but the discomfort in it made the moment all the more awkward.
Caught off guard, you and Namjoon exchanged a glance, and you both quickly moved toward the door, apologizing profusely to the patrons and the owners as you stepped outside.
“Sorry, sorry, we didn’t mean to make a mess,” Namjoon said, his words coming out rushed as he quickly pulled the door closed behind you, sealing off the chilly gust of wind that had followed you out.
You stood for a moment on the snowy sidewalk, the light of the bakery still visible through the frosted windows. The snowflakes seemed to have grown heavier, each flake falling in delicate patterns, as if trying to make the moment less heavy. But it didn’t. The air was cold, the street quiet, and despite the wintery beauty around you, your stomach twisted further and your heart beat erratically. Now it was just you and Namjoon in the silence of the day, both lost in thoughts you wouldn’t put into words.
Namjoon shifted slightly beside you, glancing down at the ground before speaking up. His voice hesitant, but there was an underlying softness to it that made your face heat despite the cold.
“So…” he began, trailing off as if searching for the right words. “No tongue this time?”
You blinked at him, your heart skipping over a few beats. The cold seemed to freeze in your lungs as you tried to process what he had just said. For a second, you were sure you hadn’t heard him correctly. You turned your head slightly, trying to gauge whether he was joking or not, but his expression was unreadable.
“Excuse me?” you asked, your voice coming out in a small, nervous laugh. You couldn’t tell if he was trying to lighten the mood or if he was just poking fun at you.
“I mean,” he continued, scratching the back of his neck, “if we’re going to blame it all on the mistletoe…” He trailed off, his tone playful but laced with a hint of something deeper, a flicker of curiosity behind his words.
That’s when you caught it. That familiar teasing glint in his eyes, the expression he had whenever he managed to make you fluster, and you huffed out in indignation, your breath transforming into a small cloud.
You crossed your arms, trying to gather your composure as you glared at him. The cold air biting at your skin, but the warmth of your embarrassment was far more overwhelming.
“Oh, so now it’s my fault?” you shot back, your voice teasing but with a hint of defensiveness, as if you were trying to cover up how much his words had affected you. You couldn’t help it. The playful look in his eyes had a way of making your pulse pick up, and it didn’t help that every word he said seemed to sink deeper into the awkwardness of the situation.
Namjoon raised his hands in mock surrender, the grin on his face only growing wider “No, no! I’m not saying it’s your fault,” he said quickly, trying to reassure you, though the amusement in his voice didn’t quite match his words. “Just—y’know, I thought we were sticking with the mistletoe excuse. But, uh, it’s all on you now. You started it.”
“Me? I—” You opened your mouth, searching for a retort, but your brain was still scrambling to catch up with everything. Nothing coherent came to mind, and his look wasn’t helping in the slightest. “You kissed me first!” you blurted, the words tumbling out before you could stop yourself.
Namjoon arched an eyebrow, his smile turning smug. “Yeah, on the cheek,” he countered, giving a little shrug as if that settled the matter entirely. He tilted his head slightly, an eyebrow raised as if he was waiting for your response, but when none came, the smugness in his expression only grew. For a moment, you considered whether it was worth the effort to argue with him. But then, his look softened, just enough for you to notice the shift in his expression —something that made your heart pick up again.
You opened your mouth to speak, but the words caught in your throat. The absurdity of the situation—the way it had spiralled from a jealous outburst into whatever this was—left you feeling strangely vulnerable. His presence, so close beside you in the cold, seemed to magnify everything.
“Fine.” You finally muttered, crossing your arms tighter and shifting your weight from one foot to the other, almost chasing the cold away.
Namjoon’s dimples deepened; the teasing look in his eyes returning full force. “Fine?” he repeated, his tone dripping with amusement. “Is that you admitting defeat, or are you too cold to keep arguing?”
He collected your hand in his free one, leading you down the street towards the Christmas market.
You gave him a fleeting glare, narrowing your eyes. “Neither,” you shot back, though the warmth in your cheeks betrayed the confidence you were trying to project. “I just don’t see the point in arguing with someone who twists everything to suit their narrative.”
Namjoon’s heartfelt laughter made any of the lingering tension dissipate, his expression taking on a look of sheer mock offence. “Twisting everything? Me?” He shook his head, his expression turning playfully solemn. “I’m just stating facts here. You’re the one who escalated things. I was perfectly content with a friendly mistletoe kiss. No drama. No tongue.”
Your eyes widened, and your jaw dropped at his audacity. “I did not escalate—oh my god, would you stop saying that?” you hissed, your voice low but filled with exasperation.
“Hey, you won’t see me complaining,” he replied smoothly, his voice softening just enough to send your thoughts spiralling. “But I never pegged you for the jealous type.”
“Gah! You’re insufferable!”
Namjoon’s grin grew as he watched you fume, his fingers tightening around your hand, as he led you down the snowy streets with easy confidence. The twinkling lights of the stalls cast a soft glow over the scene, the cold air whipped around you, but somehow, the heat between you kept the chill at bay, even if your cheeks were flushed from both the cold and the heated banter.
“Jealous? Who’s jealous?” you scoffed, trying to sound unaffected, but the way your beet-red face betrayed you. “I’m not jealous. I’m just…” you trailed off, realising you had absolutely no excuse lined up. The last part came out quieter than you meant, your voice showing more vulnerability than you were comfortable with, and you quickly buried your face in your scarf.
Namjoon tilted his head slightly, his smile not quite fading, but the glimmer of something more thoughtful flickering in his eyes. He slowed his pace, just enough to match yours, the quiet hum of the market and the soft crunch of snow beneath your feet filling the space between you.
"You’re just... what?" he prompted gently, his voice laced with curiosity and that familiar edge.
“Just acting like a good fake girlfriend would.” You concluded, trying to keep your tone casual, but you felt your stomach churn slightly as you lied, like you were trying to brush off something that had begun to feel a lot more real than you expected.
Namjoon’s expression shifted — just a little. His face softened as he thought it over, then he gave you a playful nudge with his shoulder, his voice light as he responded, “Ah, I see. Well, I’ll admit, you’re pretty good at it.”
His tone made your heart settle a bit, but you couldn't shake the underlying tension that had suddenly crept in. You hadn’t meant to sound so serious, and yet there was something in his eyes now that made you second-guess everything. He gave a small chuckle, the kind that felt like distance—just enough to make you realize he wasn’t leaning in any closer, but not pulling away either.
He let go of your hand for a moment, running it through his hair, then casually reached for it again, as if nothing had changed.
“Well, as long as I’m the good fake boyfriend, we’re golden.”
You nodded, still completely flustered, but grateful for the shift back to something a little more familiar. He wasn’t pressing anymore. He wasn’t trying to read your true intentions. He was just… being Namjoon, your friend, your roommate, the guy who could make you laugh and leave you absolutely wrecked emotionally.
The rest of the walk was quieter, but not in an uncomfortable type of way. He kept walking besides you, hands stuffed in his pockets, occasionally throwing out a random comment or nudging you along with him as you made your way through the busy market and to the small Christmas tree lodge.
You two picked a tree without much debate. The scent of pine and oranges filled the air as you threaded through the festive area, the twinkling lights surrounding you. Namjoon’s presence besides you was oddly comforting—like an anchor in the whirlwind of noise and flashing lights. As you both made your way to the tree lot, he casually pointed out the skinniest, most scrawny-looking trees, joking about how much he’d like to buy one just to see his mother’s reaction.
You couldn’t help but giggle at his commentary, the tension from earlier completely forgotten. The awkwardness in the air had faded, at least for the moment, and you were thankful for it, seeing as you didn’t need more things to overthink tonight.
After a bit of back-and-forth, you both finally settled on a tree—a little taller than you both had anticipated, but perfectly symmetrical, with just the right amount of fullness.
The rest of the day went by in a blur. You two stopped to grab lunch at a modest-looking food stall, the inviting scent of fishcakes winning Namjoon over. You both enjoyed the warmth of the food as the wind continued to bite at your cheeks, the steam rising from your cups offering the briefest respite from the cold.
You tried mulled wine for the first time—warmed, spiced, with a tangy sweetness, but most importantly, warm—and to your surprise, you liked it.
The two of you wandered a bit more, chatting idly and laughing at each other’s jokes, not caring much for the crowds around you.
And before you knew it, Jackson had pulled up in his car to take you both home. The drive was quick and quiet, with the warm glow from the streetlights casting soft shadows across the interior of the car. Namjoon leaned back against his seat, looking content, while you sat in the front, trying not to overthink everything that had happened in the last few hours.
Namjoon teasing you about ogling his naked chest felt like it happened an eternity ago.
And now, here you were, getting ready for bed again.
The tree got decorated under Minhi’s careful supervision, looking more like a Pinterest masterpiece than a simple holiday decoration when she was done with it, and Namjoon, to his credit, managed to break only one bauble during the whole process.
The evening wound down quietly after the tree was finished. Minhi insisted on taking a dozen photos of her work, including some with the whole group in front of the tree. Jackson wrapped an arm around her shoulder, grinning like he’d won the lottery, while Minhi tried (and failed) to strike a serious pose before dissolving into laughter in his arms.
You stood off to the side, trying to figure out what to do with your hands, but Namjoon made the decision for you. He tugged you closer, wrapping his arms around you like it was the most natural thing in the world.
The flash went off, capturing the moment forever, but you couldn’t seem to focus on anything beyond the warmth of his body and the quiet weight of his laughter in your ear. It felt so unguarded, so easy, that for a fleeting moment, you could almost forget it was just pretend.
Later, Minhi pulled a mistletoe plant from her bag with an exaggerated flourish, announcing it was tradition. She delighted in the awkward reaction it drew from both you and Namjoon, who immediately avoided eye contact with each other, mumbling something about “respecting personal space.” But Minhi didn’t press too hard, instead planting a sweet kiss on Jackson’s cheek that had him grinning like a fool in love.
After that, their parents got home, dinner was served, and you finally got your turn taking care of the dishes.
You quietly tiptoed your way to the bed, shivering slightly once you felt the coldness of the room, but careful not to make a sound. Your nighttime routine had taken longer than usual, and you were doing your best to avoid waking Namjoon, who fell asleep while waiting for you. The room was dark except for the faint glow of the little reading lamp he left on for you, casting a soft shadow across the space.
Slipping under the covers, you turned off the light and shifted, trying to find a comfortable spot. But before you could settle, Namjoon stirred, and with almost no time to react, he turned around and wrapped an arm around you.
Your breath caught as he pulled you close, his chest warm against your back, his movements unhurried and natural, as if this was something he did all the time. You felt him bury his head into your hair, his voice low and groggy as he murmured, “It’s cold. Don’t stay so far away.”
The weight of his arm was grounding, but your heart was anything but steady. You lay there stiffly for a moment, your mind racing again. But his breathing slowed, steady and even, and the warmth of his presence started to seep into your bones, melting the tension little by little.
You didn’t move or speak, afraid to break whatever spell had been cast over the moment. Instead, you let yourself slowly relax into his chest, his arm tightening slightly as if he could sense your shift.
The cold, the overthinking, the lingering awkwardness—it all faded, replaced by the quiet sound of his breath and the calm rhythm of his heartbeat against your back.
You were absolutely hopeless.

Synopsis: A day with the straykids pack
[A/n: This took me 8 hours to write and edit so I hope you all enjoy It as much as I did writing it, still learning to write things on here so please be kind!]
I wake up in the warm embrace of my alpha, his warm, strong arms delicately wrapped around my waist, I smiled up at him admiring his beauty I especially loved his naturally curly hair, Chan was still sleeping and we all know he usually struggles to sleep so I continued staring at his features as he sleeps. the slope of his nose, his thick lashes, and pink, pouty lips, his tousled curly brown hair which he didn’t like but everyone in our pack adores. He is perfect. I smile as he snuggles his head into the crook of my neck, his hair tickling my skin. He groans out shifting slightly and tightening his grip on me before it loosens and he opens one of his chocolate brown eyes at me, his face scrunching at the small streaks of light seeping in through our black-out curtains, “Hi princess,” he mumbles out smiling dopily at me, “how long have you been up?” he questions, I hummer out “not long.” I study him through my half-lidded eyes. His curls were sticking out in all different directions and he has dark bags under his puffy eyes that were glazed over with a sleepy look. It was still early in the morning, barely past seven AM, so I was still a bit sleepy. I sighed curling back into his embrace as he lightly chuckled at my actions, “You wanna sleep some more?” He asks, his voice low and raspy, “No,” I stretch up from our lying position, “I wanna surprise the others with breakfast.” I say getting up and slipping on my pair of pink, fluffy slippers that were gifted to me by Hyunjin on my birthday.
He groans out, attempting to stretch out and stop me “No~” he whines out “don’t leave me, you're so comfy.” He pouts voice heavy with his thick australian accent, he sits up on his elbow, his other arm stretched out to try and stop me. I giggle at his cute antics and lean over to kiss the crown of his head. “I’m sorry Channie but I promised Lixie and Innie that I’d make them pancakes today.” I stated casually, pouting down at him from my standing position. He playfully glares at me “Omega~” he drawls out, I stiffen and turn back to look at him “hm?” I hummed out “did you need something more Channie?” I ask teasingly, already knowing what was about to happen. It was always routine that I would give him a kiss goodbye even if I was just walking out of a room we were both in. “I think you're forgetting something omega,” He smirks, “oh? And what is that alpha?” I question teasingly, “My kiss.” He raises his brow looking at me expectantly, I giggle before leaning down, pressing my lips against his pouty ones, his eyes close and he hums out, reaching a hand over to place on my waist and gives it a gentle squeeze. I hum into the kiss and place my hands on the back of his neck, my fingers playing with the ends of his curls. He attempts to deepen the kiss but I lean back and giggle at the look on his face, his lips are swollen and there's a bit of drool coming from the corner of his lips as he looks at me in a daze before his expression changes at the loss of our proximity and he pouts again, “why’d you stop?” He questions sadly, I can’t resist the look he's giving me so I lean back in and litter his face with butterfly kisses before placing one more delicate kiss to the tip of his nose, “Okay Channie, I’m sorry but I really need to go make breakfast for the others before they wake up.” I apologize to him, he nods his head sadly but says he understands, so I walk out of his bedroom. I usually rotate which room I sleep in so it's fair for everyone, and that way I get to cuddle with all of them but there are some days where there are exceptions like yesterday when Chan had come home late with tired eyes, me and the boys were waiting up for him all cuddled on the couch in a cozy pile, last night was supposed to be Felix and Jeongin’s night with me but when I saw the defeated look on Chan’s face I had to explain to them that I was going to sleep in Chan’s room tonight, they pouted but agreed that it was for the best so I promised to make them pancakes in the morning as an apology and that cheered them right up.
As I rounded the corner of the kitchen I was shocked to see Minho up and cooking already, “Min?” I blurted out, surprising him as he whips around spatula in hand looking as if he were ready to smack me with it, he sighs in relief seeing that it was just me, “pup?” he questions back, "What are you doing up?” He stares at me incredulously. “I told Lix and Innie that I’d make them pancakes since I didn’t sleep in their room last night,” I stated, still staring at him in confusion “But what are you doing up?” I threw his question back at him. “Oh,” he sighs, rubbing his hands over his face in exhaustion, “I was trying to surprise Chris with breakfast since he seemed so down yesterday.” He mumbles out in embarrassment, he usually wasn't very open about his feelings we all knew he loved us but he liked to pretend he didn't, I coo at him and walk closer placing my hands on his cheeks that are flushed with a light blush at his admission, I rest my forehead against his closing my eyes, I feels his breath on the tip of my nose and giggle at the ticklish feeling, “you’re such a good mate Minnie.” I breathe out, he sets his hands on my waist and sighs again before kissing the tip of my nose and releasing his grip me, “You’re such a tease [Y/n],” He rolls his eyes before turning back to whatever was cooking on the stove stirring it to make sure it didn’t overcook, “Is there anything I can help with Min?” I offer but he shoo’s me out of the kitchen and tells me to go wake the others, I pout at him and whine saying “It's too early to wake them yet,” “Besides I wanna spend time with you~” I whine out making my best puppy eyes at him, he groans out but takes my hand leading me back over to the counter, picking me up and setting me on the counter before trapping me between his arms and sliding himself between my legs leaning towards me, “you’re such a tease kitten.” He whispers out seductively, I gulp and flit my eyes down to look at his smirking lips, my shyness becoming apparent due to the flush on my cheeks, he studies my face before slowly leaning it brushing his soft, pink lips over mine
but as we were about to kiss we were interrupted by someone clearing their throat, Minho jumps away from me and we turn towards the hallway where Changbin another one of my alphas stood, his buff arms crossed over his pecs, he was shirtless with his gray sweats hanging so low on his waist you could see his V line, he was smirking with a tilt to his eyebrow, “am I interrupting something?” He muses staring at Minho and I’s flushed faces, I stared at Changbin with wide eyes, truthfully there is no real reason for me to be embarrassed I’ve done this with all of them and been caught and it doesn’t help that some of them enjoy watching me and the others make out, but that isn’t the point. Minho grumbled most likely cursing Changbin under his breath, He just chuckles at Minho before uncrossing his arms and walking over to Minho who had turned back to the stove aggressively cooking, Changbin Chuckles at his antics before wrapping his arms around Minho’s tiny waist and pressing a kiss to the back of his neck, Minho shudders at the feeling of Changbin’s plush lips on his skin and stops cooking for a moment before scolding the short alpha, Binnie shrugs before turning towards me and copying Minho’s previous actions of caging me between his thick, built arms that I loved to drool over, he smirks noticing where my gaze is before cupping my jaw with his hand and tilting my head up towards him as he softly presses his lips on mine tilting my head to the side and deepening the kiss, he swipes his moist, pink tongue over my bottom lip, I can feel the desperation seeping into our kiss, I grant him entrance as he deepens the kiss even more our tongues swirling together, I then slowly let his tongue explore my mouth, my hands reaching up and tangling my fingers into his knotted, burgundy hair, I can taste the freshness of his breath and a subtle hint of Seungmin, they were probably making out before he decided to get up, Minho clears his throat and me and Bin pull apart, a string of salive connecting our lips together before he turns to look at Minho with a glare for interrupting us. Minho stares at us with a raised eyebrow and a deadpan look, “so you two can suck faces,” he grumbled, “but I can’t even kiss our omega once?” He complains shaking his head in disbelief at the unfairness, and I giggle at his pouting face before he swats the ladle towards me and I yelp sliding back farther on the counter to get away from him, Changbin stares at us in amusement before gently taking Minho’s wrist in his big hand while his other hand grips onto Minho’s waist and turns him back to the stove “focus on the food Min or it might burn.” He muses, Minho just grunts but begrudgingly listens to him, “Okay, I guess I’ll go wake the other now,” I say amused at the sight of the alpha and beta's interactions, As I walk away from the two down the hallway I hear Changbin yelp and laugh to myself thinking about how Minho must’ve smacked Binnie with his threatening plastic ladle, giggling as I continue walking down the hallway not paying attention I end running into Chan’s broad chest stumbling back a bit from the initial impact, but he grabs my waist and pulls me closer to him smiling down at me his eyes crinkling as he does so, “where are you headed in such a rush pup?” he asks in amusement, and smile up at him, “Min's making breakfast so I was headed to wake up the others!” I say happily, he coos at my cuteness patting my head, “You’re such a good girl, pup.” He squishes my cheeks forcing my lips to pucker before he pecks me, I giggle at him again before he sends me off further down the hall to wake the others.
The first door I stop by is Minho and Jisung’s softly knocking on the door, when I receive no answer I assume he is still sleeping and I carefully open their door trying to make sure it doesn’t squeak, when it opens enough for me to slip in I slide through the crack, my slippers make louder footsteps than I wanted but I shrugged it off since I was here to wake him up anyways. I make my way towards his side of their bed and coo at his soft appearance, his squirrel like cheeks squished on his pillow as he cuddles it close to his body, Minho wasn’t a huge cuddler but Jisungie most definitely is, so Minho often had to force Jisung to snuggle a pillow instead of himself, but he looks so soft and squishy I almost wanted to squeeze his face and leave kiss marks all over it, and normally I would but he looked so peaceful so I decided to wake him up softly instead of with my cuteness aggression, I softly shook his shoulder and he lightly groans before forcing their black, plush comforter over his head and shifting away from me, Ji’s scent has always been so sweet especially for a beta, all of my mates smelled divine but Jisung’s was one of my favorites he smelled of fresh, blooming jasmine and vanilla sweet for a beta but amazing nonetheless, Chan’s scent was that of the ocean and mahogany, Minho our big bad beta had a spicy cinnamon smell, Binnie smell was musky and he naturally smells like mens cologne, Hyunjin’s was that of black cherries sweet like omegas are expected to smell like, and Felix another fellow omega smells like toasted coconut, while Seungmin our beta baby has a fresh linen smell, and last but not least is Jeongin our baby alpha who smells like strawberries and cream. I coo once more at Jisung before shaking him a bit harder “Come on Ji,” I whined a bit, “Min told me to wake everyone up and if I don’t he’ll come wake you up himself.” I threatened, this immediately catches his attention as he slowly sits up his long, fluffy, mop of dark, brown hair sticking in all directions as he sleepily rubs at his eyes “G’morning,” he yawns out as he stretched, “Thanks for wakin’ me up.” he mumbles out, and my face flushes at his raspy, deep morning voice, “morning Ji,” I smiled at him, he sniffed the air smelling whatever it is that Min is making for breakfast and his stomach growls as he groans and slowly pulls his comforter and sheets off himself, wobbly standing up, I move my arms to try and stabilize him but he's fine after a few seconds he then leans down and kisses the crown of my head and walks towards the door, most likely to brush his teeth but not before smacking my bottom and making me flush in embarrassment as he laughed to himself and continues on his way out.
Next, I walk across the hall to Seungmin and Binnie’s room, I once again do my best not to make their door squeak as I shuffle in, staring at Seungmin’s back as I enter deeper into their room, Seungmin was a pretty light sleeper so it shouldn’t be to hard to wake him up but I still wanted to ensure the beta doesn’t wake up in a startle, “Seungmin,” I whispered, “Seungie, it's time to wake up hun.” I lightly shake his shoulder, his eyes slowly flutter open and the corners of his lips tilt up into a lazy grin as he stares up at me, I decide I want to be a bit of a brat and slowly climb onto the bed straddling his hips, he continues to stare at me with that smirk of and his, he stared up at me with his puppy-like eyes and gazes up at me from his lying position, his hands grasp onto my waist his thumbs stroking over my silk night set and over my hip bones, “Morning pup,” He lets out, and I giggle at his sleepy expression and at the nickname he calls me that I share between all the boys, “Morning Seungie.” I coo at him sliding my hands up and down his chest before I lean down and pepper his face in small kisses before reaching his lips and leaving a lasting kiss, After kissing him I attempt to sit up but he forces me back down crashing our lips together so I can feel all the passion behind it, but for the second time this morning I am interrupted by Changbin as he walks into his room, “Oh,” he says shocked at seeing me straddling Seungmin, “Hey pups.” He once again muses before walking over to Seungmin and me leaving a kiss on both of our foreheads before walking over to their closet and finding some of his gym clothes, Me and Seungmin both oogle him as he changes showing us his broad shoulders and muscular body. My favorite part of his body has to be our mating bite marks that litter his back as well as the hickeys all over his neck and shoulders, while I was busy drooling over Changbin Seungmin was staring at me with adoration written all over his face, he quickly leans up pecking my cheek before, before slightly lifting me up and setting me off his lap so he can get up and stretch, after I've finished making heart eyes to my buff alpha I get off their bed and walk towards Changbin who is still shirtless, I slide my hands up his back over our marks and up to his broad shoulders and wrap my hands around them before pecking the back of his neck like he did to Minho earlier, he hums in satisfaction before speaking “you should probably go wake up the others before Min gets mad princess.” I swoon at the nickname but agree nonetheless and walk out of their room towards the last room which happens to be Hyunjin and Innie’s I knew Felix would also be in there since they decided to have a movie night last night, but based off of the moans I'm sure we all heard that wasn’t the only thing they did last night.
Opening their door I find that I am right and the 3 of them are cuddled up together, cooing at the adorable sight of Jeongin’s black hair, Felix’s blond mullet, and Hyunjins long black hair all peeking out from under their white comforter, I walk over to the trio and first shake Hyunjin awake but he groans out and ignores me, I chuckle at his stubbornness and start stroking and smoothing out his bed head, he hums at the feeling of my ringers raking through his hair and smiles, his plush lips a pretty shade of pinky-red looking very kissable, so that is exactly what I do I lean over his body and kiss his lips, at that his eyes shoot open and he moans into the kiss trying to deepen it, I let him for all of 2 seconds before pulling back and continuing to stroke his hair he sighs and sits up, “Min made breakfast.” I say softly to him and he mutters a small “hell yeah.” Under his breath in celebration. After he gets out of bed to go and brush his teeth and wash his face I slide into where he was lying down before and start threading my fingers through Felix’s hair, which with the amount of bleach he puts in should be dead but somehow it is miraculously still soft and silky, I chuckle in surprise at the feeling of his non-crunchy hair, I admire the freckles that paint his golden skin with stars and start tracing them with my finger, his eyes start to twitch and he lets out a deep groan at the feeling of his face being tickled by my nails and I giggle at the cute, scrunched up expression on his fairy like face, God he is such a pretty omega after enough of the tickling feeling his eyes flutter open but immediately scrunch up at the blurriness you get after just waking up, he rolls his body over to face me, wrapping his arms around my waist forcing me to lay down where Hyunjin used to be, I giggle as he snuggles his face into my chest and I pet his hair again, “Morning baby.” He rasps out, I swoon at the sound of his unusually deep voice, of course, his voice is deep but in the mornings it's especially deep, it is so incredibly attractive but I can’t get distracted because breakfast was probably done and there is a good chance of Min bursting through the door and threatening all of us to get up (affectionately of course), but nonetheless I needed to wake these two up no matter how badly I wanted to cuddle up to them, “Morning Lixie,” I smile, “I need you and Innie to get up before Min yells at us for getting up for the breakfast he made.” I giggle at the thought knowing how Min has a soft spot for us 'pups’ so he probably wouldn’t but he'd still be grumpy, Felix just hums before snuggling in more he acts as if he wants to melt into me which I wouldn’t mind but I'm honestly hungry so I need to get these two up, “Lix,” I try and warn him but he only hums dismissively, “Lix, baby I’m serious I’m hungry~” I whine and he chuckles his voice deep and rich,
I guess we were making too much noise because Jeongin struck us with his pillow and grumbles something that sounds like a “shut up.” Which makes me and Felix cackle, he finally releases me so I try and crawl out of their bed but unfortunately, that's the time Innie chooses to sit up and sees me, instantly his face lights up, “noona!” He exclaims happily, “I didn’t realize it was you!” He laughs and pulls me back towards them by my ankles which makes me yelp, my reaction causes the two troublemakers to giggle and they make eye contact before nodding, I start to protest knowing what they are about to do but they ignore me and start to attack me with tickles, I start laughing very loudly and shouting for one of my other mates to come and save me, “Channie, Min,” I yell out, “anyone please save me!” I holler out to them hoping somebody will come and save me, I guess my pleas for help were heard because Chan comes to my rescue and saves me from my tormentors all while laughing at the scene happening in front of him. When we all finally make it to the dining room the breakfast Min made looks incredibly mouth-watering. Min had made a nice warm stew with a side of rice and banchan which we all laughed at and tease Channie for, making him blush and shush us.
After breakfast, we all split up to do our own things. Changbin heads off to the gym and later heads to the studio Chan and Jisung are headed to, Min goes off to his dance studio, and Hyunjin to his art studio leaving me, Lix, Seungmin, and Innie home alone. We 4 decided on watching some random YouTube videos in the nesting room but before we all settle in Felix and I go around all the rooms and steal items of clothing and even blankets that have our mates’ scents on them after we gathered all the materials we went back to the nest and started to rebuild it, normally we'd have Hyunjin help us since he is also an omega but since he went to his studio we couldn’t get his help which saddensLixie and I but we push through it to make a perfectly, pretty nest for the packmates we have here with us now.
when we make it back into the room I chirp in surprise seeing our mates in our unfinished nest, at hearing my chirp they both whip their heads towards me and Lix, my face is one of betrayal even though I know it isn’t a big deal my omega is telling me that it most definitely is, I’m sure Felix has a reaction similar to mine as he pouted at the two of them being in the unfinished nest. Seungmin and Jeongin both scramble to get out of the unfinished nest messing up the border of it which makes both me and Lix more distressed, they both try to hurriedly fix it but that made me growl at them it wasn’t very threatening seeing as they just coo at me and tell me and Felix to rebuild our pretty nest for them. After it is finished me and Felix set them where we want them and then sat ourselves down between them, our order was Jeongin closest to the border near the door then me, and on my left were Felix and Seungmin next to him by the border.
When the others got home they tried calling out to their mates but received no reply so they went searching for them, they checked all the bedrooms but seeing nobody in there they started to panic a little, “Have any of you found them yet?” Chan hurriedly asks his pack mates who all shake their heads no, they finally decide to check the nest room, and when they open the door they all sighe in relief at seeing their pups there, Jeongin had fallen asleep along with Seungmin leaving Felix and [Y/N] awake with Frozen playing on the TV, Felix was sat behind [Y/n] as she sat in his lap watching intently at the movie on the TV where Elsa was singing ‘Let It go’, she was fussing a bit at what she thought was Felix pulling on her hair “Ssh relax, I’m just braiding your hair.” he says softly brushing his fingers through her hair in an attempt to detangle it. The 5 standing by the door all coo at their cute packmates and walk further into the room finally making the two omegas notice them, when they finally do they immediately sit up and stop what they are doing to get up as fast as they can to reach their packmates who had been gone all day, Felix runs towards Changbin first while [Y/n] jumps on Chan, they chose those 2 first because they were the closest to the nest, the two omegas made sure to rub their scents glands against the 2 alphas so their scents would stick onto them after they scented those two, they rushed to Minho and Jisung and scented them just as good as they did the other 2 before them, last but not least was Hyunjin and the three omegas sag into each other happily chirping content at the skinship, the others admire their mates, and then Jeongin and Seungmin are awoken by the commotion but also immediately get up to greet the others after they've scented each other they go around delivering them kisses to everyone as a second welcome. “So what have our pups been doing all day, hm?” their pack leader asks, staring at his lovers in adoration, “Mm, well we mostly watched YouTube but when Seungie and Innie fell asleep me and Lixie put on Disney movies!” [Y/n] explains excitedly and Felix hums in agreement, while the others snicker in amusement at the 2 wholesome omegas.
After everyone gets ready for bed [Y/n] goes around trying to convince everyone to sleep in the nesting room, her pitch to them is “It's so comfy and Jinnie, Lixie, and I remade it perfectly for all of you,” she pouts up at all of them giving her best puppy eyes, after getting Hyunjin, and Felix to assist her in convincing them the alphas and betas finally give in and they all pile into the nesting room together, the three omegas arranged their mates to where they want them and make them sit in their places before finally settling into the nest themselves, the nest is huge with pillows covered in heavy blankets making up the border, Felix and [Y/n} have lots of influence on the others so the nest is made of mostly pastel soft colored blankets and of course Hyunjin agrees to his adorable mates no hesitation, along with the nest they have candles set around the room courtesy of Hyunjin because he believes they ‘set the mood’ and lastly Felix hung LED lights so they could have a pop of more color. They've all settled into the nest for bed, all of them cuddled together the soft atmosphere lulling them all to sleep.

you gently shut the door of yours and jays shared apartment, trying your best to make the most minimal noise possible. you were promoted at your job this year, of course it was a great feat but with it came longer hours and a harder workload. it was safe to say that this wasn’t the first time you came home past 9 pm.
you slipped off your jacket and hung it on the rack, slipping your shoes off as well and picking them up. you walked to yours and jays bedroom and pushed the door open softly, revealing jay sound asleep in bed.
trying not to make any noise, you tiptoe around the room. “fuck!” you whisper-shouted after hitting your knee on the bed frame. jay stirred in bed then saw you, holding your shoes, caught red handed. “I'm sorry babe, I didn't mean to wake you” you mumbled, frowning as he shook his head, clearly tired. “are you okay?” he rubbed his eyes and looked at you. “yeah, just let me change i’ll be in bed in a bit okay?” he nods, laying back down.
after washing up and changing your clothes, you walked back to the bed, seeing jay still laying there in the same position he was before. he shut his phone and opened the covers for you to slip in. he smiled as you laid next to him. you turned facing him, smiling softly. “hi” his hand reached to your face, brushing any stray hairs out of the way. “how was work?” you could hear the sleepiness in his voice and frowned a little.
“it was alright, you know just work.” you hesitated, pursing your lips. “what is it?” jay mumbled, furrowing his brows slightly. “i’m sorry, i keep coming home late” he sighed, shaking his head. “don’t apologize you’re working babe, i get it” you nodded, still feeling the guilt in your chest.
jay sighed out once more, cupping your cheeks in his hands. “whatever you’re thinking stop, i promise yn it’s not an issue at all, okay?” he looked in your eyes, making you smile a little. if all else failed, you knew jay would always reassure you no matter what.
you nodded, smiling softly. jay kissed your forehead and pulled you into his chest, your head resting against it. you loved when the two of you laid like this, you could hear his heartbeat and it was almost like a lullaby. like that time at night when everything fell into place.
jays fingers were lost in your hair, brushing it, playing with it, anything really. “should we have breakfast together tomorrow?” you spoke up, breaking the comfortable silence between the two of you. “we haven’t done that in a while have we?” jay hummed back, resting his chin on your head. “nope” you replied, rubbing his shirt.
“i’ll make whatever you want me to babe” jay said, making you giggle a little. “i can’t pamper my boyfriend?” you picked your head up, angling your body to face him, your chin on his chest now. “yn, as much as i love you, you can’t cook for shit” he whispered that last part out, making you slap his chest lightly. “how rude!” he only laughed in response, stroking your hair.
“i’d rather do all the work for you that’s all” he replied, looking at you with so much adoration. you nodded, smiling softly. “okay, i can get around that” you spoke, resting your head on his chest once more.
jay continued to play with your hair. “so do you want pancakes or waffles?” jay mumbled out, only hearing you breathing in return. he furrowed his brows, “babe? yn?” he peaked over to see you sound asleep, making him smile. he kissed the top of your head and laid back, falling fast asleep.

Spy
Will not hesitate to force you to wake up or go to bed, he can’t a snoozy hoe on his team
If you have messy bed hair he’s always prepared to brush it. He firmly believes that when coming to work you should look your best.
“Ow! Stop you’re gonna pull it out!!”
“Oh enough whining, you’re fine.”
Proceeds to pull a whole knot you had in that bird nest you call hair
Showing up in your pajama pants? Not on his watch. He’s always bringing a spare of your uniform
“Here, put this on”
“Cmon spy I’m really tired, can I just skip this one?”
“No, you said that last time and ended up sleeping in the middle of battle because you ‘felt too comfortable’.”
He’ll slap you awake, don’t doubt him, he will.
He mostly does it whenever he’s giving out one of his little speeches, he can’t stand it when people don’t listen to him
“If we don’t do this mission right, we might as well kill ourselves now.”
snore
“sigh I’ve had enough of this girl/boy.”
You’d be lurking around the kitchen getting your midnight snack, then he just suddenly pops out of nowhere scaring the shit out of you
Will try to offer you an espresso to wake you up or get you sober but you didn’t enjoy it
Sniper
You sleepy fucks.
Ok but he’s always taking care of you, he doesn’t have much going on in his little world so he’s always able to cut some time to bring you to bed
“Cmon mate, let’s go”
“Nooo, just one more shot”
“There are no more shots, you finished the bloody bottle.”
He tried giving you coffee but you puked in his van because this motherfucker served you BLACK coffee
“I’m so sorry Snipez! I’ll make sure to scrub it clean so that it doesn’t smell”
“No worries lad, it’s on me for draggin’ ya into me van”
Oof, and here you were ready to get the daylights knocked out of you for making his van smell like sour liquor
Of course he forgave you mostly because he loves you, but he also relates to you on the sleepy note
If you guys even sit next to each other then one of you guys are gonna sleep on the others shoulder
You better be a heavy sleeper tho, his snores are LOUDD
If you guys sleep in the base soldier wakes up in the middle of the night, screaming how the enemy team is shooting missiles at the base
However it’s a rare occasion since for the most part he lets you sleep with him in his van
even if it can barely fit him
Whenever you pass out with your head laying on a surface, he’d put his hat on your head because he thinks it’s cute
“Heh, sleep well love.”
Medic
Don’t pass out around him, just don’t
Long story short Demoman passed out in his presence once and stole the Scottish guys liver to test the effects his experiments would have on you and demo since you guys drink a lot
He’s so surprised how you have so much energy on the field and immediately pass out as before you can even change out your uniform
“BRING IT ON YOU BLUEBERRY BITCHES”
You’d pass out in the middle of battle
He offered to do some experiments on you to see how he can give you more energy to stay awake but you declined because, duh.
Once you just took your daily hour long nap and the first think you saw when waking up was a pair of brown eyes staring at you
“Ah, you’re awake. Vell my job here is done.”
“Medic please don’t tell me you did some shit to me.”
“Vat? Nonsense!! I just watched you sleep for a bit.”
“..I think I’d rather have you do the first option”

Your last George blurb with the nightmare was really good, would you consider writing a part two where they actually have lunch together?
Much love ♡
A/n: Thank you 🥹 The Weasley twins deserve all the happiness.

George can still feel the nightmare clinging to him, his mind in that daze, that fog. His breath still uneven and his chest still heaving as he gripped the sheets tightly. His heart pounded against his ribs, and his skin felt clammy, the echoes of his nightmare still gripping his mind like a vice. You were gone. Fred was gone. He was alone.
It wasn’t real.
Something in the back of his mind telling him that.
It wasn’t real.
“George?” Your soft, sleepy voice broke through the haze of panic, and he turned his head toward you, his eyes wide and glassy. He blinked a few times as if making sure you were actually there and not just a cruel trick of his mind.
Without a word, he pulled you into his arms, holding you so tightly it nearly knocked the breath out of you. You didn’t complain, simply rubbing soothing circles on his back, whispering reassurances in his ear.
“I’m here, love,” you murmured, pressing a kiss to his temple. “I’m right here.”
He swallowed thickly, his grip on you unrelenting. “I had a nightmare,” he admitted hoarsely. “You and Fred… you were gone. Both of you. And I—” His voice broke, and you felt his shoulders tremble.
He was alone....so utterly alone.
You cupped his face, forcing him to look at you. “We’re here, Georgie. Me and Fred. We’re not going anywhere.”
It took a few minutes, but eventually, George’s breathing evened out. Still, you could see the lingering fear in his eyes, the weight of the what-ifs pressing down on him.
An idea formed in your mind. Placing a kiss to the top of his head. "Go back to sleep and when we wake up we'll go out."
Glancing down, George nodded his head lying hack down pulling you close. Sleep didn't come easy but at least the nightmare didn't return.
It was hours later when he woke up, a smile on your face. “Come on, let’s go out,” you said, brushing his hair back gently.
He furrowed his brows. “Go out?”
“Yeah,” you said brightly. “A lunch date. Just you and me. You need a reminder that we’re here, and that life’s still good.”
George hesitated, his mind still in a hog, he remembered you mentioning that after he woke from his nightmare and while normally he’d be the one to drag you out for an impromptu adventure, but the nightmare had rattled him more than he wanted to admit. Still, when you flashed him that determined look—the one he could never say no to—he sighed in defeat.
“Alright,” he said, a small smile playing on his lips. “But only if you let me pay.”
“Deal.” Giving him a wink you bent down kissing the top of his head.
The little café you picked was cozy, with warm wooden tables and the scent of fresh bread filling the air. You sat across from George, reaching for his hand as you both sipped on butterbeer.
“You seem better,” you noted, squeezing his fingers gently.
George exhaled, rubbing his thumb over your knuckles then across your wedding band. “I think I just needed to see you, hold you. It sounds ridiculous, but when I woke up, it felt so real.” He looked at you, vulnerability in his eyes. “I don’t think I could bear losing you.”
"George what we went through...no one comes out with not losing a piece of themselves." You leaned forward, pressing a soft kiss to his lips. “You're not going to lose me, you're stuck with me Weasley. For life.”
His grin was back, more genuine this time. “Lucky me.”
“Obviously,” you teased, making him chuckle.
Just as you were finishing your meal, a familiar voice interrupted, “Oi, am I invited to this secret lunch date, or do I have to crash it?”
You both turned to see Fred standing there, hands on his hips, a smirk on his face.
George rolled his eyes. “It’s a date, Freddie. As in, me and my gorgeous spouse. Alone.”
Fred scoffed, plopping down next to you anyway. “Pfft. Like I’d let you two have all the fun. What are we eating?”
You laughed, shaking your head, while George groaned. But as he looked at you, then at his twin—both very much alive, very much here—he realized just how lucky he was.
Maybe the nightmare had been a cruel reminder of how fragile life was. But right now, he had everything he needed.
And he wasn’t letting go.

[ req ! ] yes! by 🌱 anon here <3
[ summary ! ] comforting gunwook after the 1st anniversary live :(
[ word count ! ] 468

the door opened with a soft creak, a beam of light shyly falling into the dark room. it wasn’t completely dark though, you had a nightstand lamp on because you were reading a book. you looked up and saw your boyfriend. putting away your book, he sighed and stepped into the room, not bothering to change.
“hi, wookie. how was it?” you asked tenderly, noticing the swollen state of his pretty ebony eyes.
he just plopped down on the bed, careful enough not to crush you. his head landed on your lap while his hands flew to rest under it.
“i cried” he said, words muffled by the duvet. you saw, you were watching the first anniversary live. your boyfriend was so kindhearted, you had a gut feeling that he’ll cry.
“my baby” you hummed, running your hands through his purple locks. they were soft, he washed them before he left. gunwook grunted at the feeling, bringing shivers down his spine.
“i love them so much… i’m so happy to be with them and achieve my dreams” gunwook sighed and adjusted the position so you could hear him clearly. tears started prickling his eyes yet again and you just pouted at the sight. “i don’t ever wanna part ways”
sending him a reassuring smile, you wiped a pearly tear that decided to run down his cheek.
“you won’t. you’re friends. you’re engraved together, inseparable” you comforted him but his brows only furrowed more. eyes closing, his nose sniffled “hey, it’s okay, it’s emotional.”
“i’m just so happy” he said, voice breaking a bit.
you continued to run your fingers softly through his hair, humming.
“you deserve to be” a soft smile formed on your lips. gunwook started crying again, too overwhelmed by emotions. during the live ricky patted his thigh when he broke into tears but your comfort really felt like home. the calming smell of your room, you and the feeling of your feather-light touch.
“can you scratch my back, please?” gunwook peeked one eye open and you just chuckled. with a nod, you shifted your hands to his back. sneaking them under his shirt, he sighed “i love you”
“i love you too, wookie” you said. his eyes closed again, melting into the warmth of the duvet.
the feeling of your nails gently but reassuringly tracking up and down his back brought him to a sleepy state far quicker than he’d like to admit.
“i’d kiss you goodbye but i’m too tired” he mumbled, words slurring into one incoherent murmur “i’ll kiss you in the morning. until your head spins”
“noted. sleep well, baby” you huffed at his cuteness. you didn’t stop scratching his back until he was lulled to sleep, soft snores escaping his pretty lips. he deserved peaceful rest after such a long day.

Hi ! Would you be up for writing some angst to fluff with Adam ? My poor angel deserves some love !
Yes of course! Now this is some very light angst but hopefully you enjoy it, Adam is such an interesting character I hope I’m able to do him some justice haha
- 🤍
Dating the first man to ever exist is no easy task. He’s a popular guy and is usually the center of attention in any situation. However you couldn’t help but feel jealous over those who get to spend a lot of time with him. In particular the angel Lute. Anytime you see your boyfriend when not at each other’s homes or on a date, she’s always with him. The way she looks at him just doesn’t sit right. You can’t help but think there could be something more going on.
It’s not that you don’t trust Adam but it’s only natural to have doubts when your boyfriend is often around another woman. Now envy is a sin, you know that so you’d never voice this opinion out loud. But as time goes on, these feelings start to simmer until they start affecting your relationship.
Adam could tell something was up. He had no clue though what this could be. It’s unlike you to be so quiet when he’s talking to you. He was telling you this story on how Lute and him were chasing down this sinner on the last extermination day.
“You should have seen the look on his face babe! Lute had cornered him into this alleyway and then right when he thought he’d gotten away… BAM I jump out from behind and spear him straight through the fuckin’ middle! And then Lute-“
“Wow sounds like you and Lute are the perfect team.” This comment of yours sounded less enthusiastic and more snarky than he’d hoped for.
“Well yeah I guess but that’s not really the point (y/n), I was trying to tell you how badass I was,” Adam was giving you the perfect opportunity to ignore the tone of what you last said and move on but you couldn’t get out of this headspace.
“Yeah Lute sounds pretty badass too from the countless stories you tell me.”
“Woah babe what’s this about?”
“Just seems to me like Lute’s always on your mind Adam from how you’re always with her and talking about her. Maybe you should date her instead.”
Adam huffed and got up, “yeah yknow what? Fuck this, go take this attitude to someone who could give a shit, I’m just trying to have a nice time and you’re sounding like an insecure bitch right now.”
After that comment Adam stormed out of your room and slammed the door leaving you alone to wallow in self pity. For the next week you didn’t hear from your boyfriend or even see him out. You couldn’t help but think you’ve ruined your relationship with the argument you had. Until you wake up to your doorbell ringing.
Opening your door to Adam standing in front, scratching the back of his neck.
“Look (y/n) I thought you were being completely irrational but then imagined our roles were reversed and I’d be pissed if you were hanging around some guy all day.”
“So what are you trying to say?”
“That I’m sorry. Even though I’ve had two wives, I’m not the best at relationships so next time something’s up just talk to me about it,” after he finished saying this, you stood onto your tippy toes and pulled the mask off your boyfriend’s worried face.
“I’m sorry too Adam, I shouldn’t have taken my worries out on you and just communicated from the start, that wasn’t fair of me,” you gave him a soft smile of which he returned with a hug and pulled you into his arms, making his way to the couch where you two snuggled under a blanket and just held each other while watching your favorite movie.
As you were starting to drift off you thought you’d heard your boyfriend mumble, “I love you (y/n), I’m going to marry you some day so please don’t think I have eyes for anyone else but you.” But who knows maybe you were really sleepy and imagined it. However the twinkle in Adam’s eyes when he watched you close your own seemed to hint at it being true.
