“Oh, you’ve got a redhead!”
“Is it…is it a boy or a g-girl?” Mia asks between clenched teeth and labored breaths.
The doctor can’t help but chuckle as he works.
“I can’t tell just by the hair,” he says.
Luke rubs over his wife’s hand with his left while she squeezes the life out of his right. Steve stands on the opposite side of the bed, holding Mia’s other hand. From Eddie's vantage point behind his son, it looks like Mia is crushing both her husband’s and her father’s hands like a nut in a nutcracker.
Both you and Nancy stand behind the working doctor and nurses, off to the side just enough that you have a clear view of your first grandchild being born. The two of you hold hands, watching in awe at the small, but big enough, human that Mia is pushing out of her body. Neither you nor Nancy are strangers to childbirth and all its miracles, but there’s something even more magical when it’s your daughter—or daughter-in-law—who is doing it.
“You’re doing so well, babe,” Luke encourages, giving a supportive smile despite how exhausted he is. He can’t even imagine how Mia must feel if he’s already worn out.
“He’s right, Mia,” a nurse says. “Just a little more now.”
The redhead on the delivery table whines and drops her head back against her pillow, feeling like she has nothing more to give. Hasn’t she already been at this for around five hours? A quick glance at the clock tells her it’s only been forty-five minutes and she lets out an even more frustrated whine. It doesn’t even click in her mind that it’s almost midnight—almost a brand new year. There’s enough going on in the room to keep her mind occupied.
“Alright, we’re going to do one more push now, Mia. Okay? It’s almost over. On the count of three. One, two, three!”
The muscles below the pale skin of Mia’s neck bulge as she grits her teeth and gives the best push that she can manage.
“That’s it, almost there.”
The hospital room, previously only housing the noises of beeping machinery and encouraging healthcare professionals, is suddenly bombarded with two brand new sounds simultaneously. Cheers and applause sink into the room from out in the halls and the surrounding rooms. But emanating from this particular delivery room itself, the shrill cry of a newborn bursts forth.
“Congratulations,” the doctor says as he holds the baby up for the new parents to see. “You’ve got yourselves a girl.”
Pure joy floods the veins of every Munson and Harrington in the room. Endorphins and adrenaline blend in Mia’s head, briefly causing her to think all the happy commotion from outside the room is in celebration of her daughter entering the world. One look at the tiniest human she’s ever seen would be enough of a reason, she thinks. The baby is absolutely perfect. Who would expect anything less from a baby with both Harrington and Munson genes?
A press to the top of her head has Mia looking up to see a beaming Luke gazing down at her. He places another kiss on her sweaty forehead before leaning further down to capture her lips with his own.
“I’m so flippin’ proud of you.”
Despite her exhausted state, Mia giggles at her husband’s praise. Old habits die hard of trying not to curse in front of his mama.
“I love you,” Luke says softly.
“I love you, too,” Mia replies.
The newly crowned parents watch as their baby girl is cleaned off, the brand new grandparents all enraptured as well.
“Aw, Mom!” Mia coos when she sees her mother crying—and then her mother-in-law as well. “Aunty!” Your nickname from aunt to mother-in-law was impossible to change after an entire lifetime of Mia referring to you in one way. It might take some explaining to the grandkids in the future, but that’s not a problem for today.
“Not just the moms, I see.” The amusement in Luke’s voice is evident.
You, Mia, and Nancy all turn to see Luke clapping a crying Eddie on the shoulder.
“Oh, sweetheart,” you say with a chuckle.
Eddie wipes the handful of fallen tears from his face and clears his throat.
“Don’t make me beat you up in front of your daughter,” Eddie says, voice thick with emotion.
“Ah, he’s not the only one!” Mia can’t figure out if she’s laughing or crying harder once she catches a glimpse of her own father trying to discreetly wipe at his eyes.
“Gimme a break,” Steve says with a sniffle. “My first granddaughter was just born.”
“Our first grandchild,” you say on behalf of you and Eddie, tears overtaking you once again.
As the nurses finish cleaning up the baby, you rush over and pull Luke into a hug. Out of all the emotional moments that have happened thus far in this room, this is the one that makes your son tear up.
“She’s perfect, sweetie.” You pull back and kiss Luke on the cheek before leaning in to embrace Mia as best you can.
“I’m so proud of you,” Eddie says, words still heavy from emotion.
Luke grins, leaning in as his dad wraps his arm around him. But, being Luke, he cuts a joke to weasel his way out of a genuine thank you.
“Of what, having sex?”
Eddie playfully rolls his eyes before mussing up his son’s curls, the exact same way he’s done since the hair first sprouted on Luke’s head about thirty years ago.
“Would you like to cut the cord, Dad?” a nurse asks.
“It’s not gonna hurt, right?” Luke asks, looking to Mia and wrinkling up his nose.
“Not at all,” the nurse assures him.
“Oh boy,” Steve says as his son-in-law is handed the scissors. “Those aren’t safety scissors, be careful.”
Mature man that he is, Luke only shoots Steve a brief death glare before following the nurse’s instructions.
“Yay!” you cheer once the cord is snipped.
The nurse grabs the blanket to swaddle up the newborn, and as she does so, she can’t help but smile as she watches the six adults hugging one another and sharing tearful smiles. She’s been in far too many delivery rooms where most of the people there couldn’t stand one another; seeing two families become one in this way is one of the more beautiful things the nurse has seen lately.
“Alright, Mom,” the nurse says as she walks the baby over to the bed. “Would you like to hold your daughter?”
A new set of tears stream down Mia’s face, but she adamantly nods her head and holds out her arms. Gently, the nurse transfers the newest Munson to her mother’s embrace.
“Look at you,” Mia coos. She looks up at Luke who leans down on the bed next to his two redheads. “Isn’t she beautiful?”
“Just like her mother,” Luke says, happily taking in the sight before him.
Eddie, you, Steve, and Nancy all stand by in silence as you watch your children hold their firstborn for the first time. It’s surreal to see your son now being a father—but there’s not a doubt in your mind that he’ll be an amazing one. He had a great teacher, after all.
Carefully, Mia transfers the baby to Luke’s arms and beside you, you can see Eddie’s tears start anew. You join him, though. Eddie wraps an arm around your shoulders and you lean your head against him, just watching Luke hold his first child. Nothing could have prepared you for how beautiful and overwhelming it all is.
“Look at our granddaughter,” Eddie says softly to you.
You nod, a smile lighting up your tear-stained face. There’s nothing you can say to make this moment better, so you stay silent and try to absorb as much of it as you can.
“Do you have a name picked out?” a nurse asks.
Luke nods, never taking his eyes off the small bundle in his arms. Mia is just as enraptured, but she responds.
“This is Isabella Marie Munson.”
Luke looks up at you and Eddie, pride gleaming in his watery blue eyes.
“You think Eliza will like that we gave Isabella her middle name?” he asks.
“Oh, honey,” you say with a chuckle. “She's going to be over the moon.”
“Speaking of that whole gaggle of siblings who are out waiting in the lobby, should I go deliver the good news?” Steve offers.
It may be New Year’s Eve—or rather, was, but no possible party or other engagement could keep Luke and Mia’s siblings away from this momentous occasion. Though, you wouldn’t be surprised if one of them brought champagne in to celebrate.
“Yes, go tell them,” Mia says through a sniffle. “But hurry back so you can hold her!”
“Just make sure you pry her from Munson’s arms at some point,” Steve says, hooking a thumb over his shoulder to point at Eddie. He did need that clarification though, as Eddie, you, Luke, Mia, and Isabella are all Munsons now.
“Let me at her,” Eddie says, stepping up to Luke as Steve heads out the door.
Carefully, your son hands Isabella to your husband, and it’s one of the greatest things you’ve ever witnessed in your life. The way Eddie’s arms cradle the newborn, so reminiscent of him holding all your newly born babies. Your husband laughs as he looks down at the little girl.
“You’re the first Munson-Harrington, huh?” he says. “That’s going to make you a very, very interesting person.”
You giggle and rest your head against Eddie’s shoulder. As you peer down, Isabella tries to open her eyes and take in the people hovering above her. She quickly decides she doesn’t care enough though, and goes back to sleep.
“Knock, knock,” a nurse says as she pops her head into the room.
“Come in,” Mia says, trying to adjust her position without causing herself any pain.
“We’ve got a surprise for you.” The nurse grins and steps into the room, a large plastic-wrapped gift basket held against her maroon scrubs. The nurse places the basket on the bedside table closest to Mia.
“Little Miss Isabella is Hawkin’s Hospital’s very first baby of 2025,” the nurse says. “In fact, she is the very first baby to be born in all of Indiana in 2025. So, we’d like to present you with this basket of diapers and baby clothes, along with this certificate. And, with your permission, we’d love to take a picture of this new family and share it with all in Indiana.”
Mia is so overcome by everything the nurse says, that she starts crying again. She’s nodding though, letting Luke know that she’s okaying the picture. Both you and Nancy help Mia get settled and wipe any excess sweat or tears from her face. Luke sits down on the bed next to his wife and Eddie hands Isabella to her father.
Steve steps back into the room just in time to see the photo be snapped. He stands with you, Eddie, and Nancy behind the camera as the nurse takes a few shots.
“Our granddaughter is already a star,” Eddie tells Steve.
“Huh?”
Pictures finished, Mia leans over and plucks the certificate out of the gift basket.
“This certificate,” Mia reads, “is to honor Isabella Marie Munson, daughter of Amelia Christine Munson and Luke Alexander Munson, as the very first baby born at Hawkin’s Hospital in the year 2025. Isabella was born at 12:00 am exactly, weighing seven pounds, six ounces.”
“And her favorite grandfather is already Steve,” Steve adds once Mia is finished reading. Everyone in the room chuckles—sans Eddie.
“Maybe,” Eddie concedes, a small smirk playing on his lips. “But that can change. What won't change though, is that I’ll always be the first grandparent to hold her. I had her in my arms first.”
“You two are ridiculous,” Nancy says.
Luke leans down and whispers in Isabella’s ear.
“Try to be more like your grandmas than grandpas. Got it?”
Mia giggles and runs the back of her forefingers gently across Isabella’s cheek.
“Or be like your Daddy, 'cause he’s pretty great,” she says. “But maybe not as mischievous.”
“That reminds me,” Luke says, looking down at his baby with wide eyes. “I have to see if they can give you a vaccine for scurvy.”

So ive been more obsessed with sunday more than usual, its already been bad but with the drip market is way worse. Ive been watching hsr video essays recently cus i love the world building of this game (even though its so complicated) and watching this one on sunday kinda made something click. Highly recommend it but im not really talking about whats in it cept for the fact the essay is what is causing me to yap rn
youtube
i like how it kinda explains why he is a harmony unit. the analysis kinda is saying that he was always on the path of harmony but it was gophers grooming that warped his perspectives and made his pure soul get led astray. Despite that his end goal was always a harmonious one and even when he viewed harmony as that which has failed him, his goals and wishes still where that of said path
He is extremely nihilistic and yeah i would prefer him being nihility so he can counter robin but i think this goes to show how pure intentioned and genuine he is about what he belives in. No matter how much he follows order or how nihilistic he is he still loves humanity so much and wants humanity to be together in tranquility so much he is always harmony even if he doesnt accept it
Also i think it shows he has to go for other means for robins dream to become true. He isnt necessarily following his old path. While i think nihility makes sense for him its clear he is trying to find a new way. The nevermore book his lc and jades words to him and yknow the drip market all imply he is going towards a new path so i understand why nihilty from a lore perspective wasnt chosen.
Yeah i would have loved for him to be a nihility unit but this realization actually made me more hyped for his release than i already was and even if yeah its prob for some meta game reason, i think its fun to look into the lore reasons for why characters ingame paths are as they are (jiaoqiu when i GET YOU its on sight just wait till i go crazy and yap about that blind bbygrl)

Hi, Nik! I hope you are doing well! If it's okay with you, I have a question about your Pedro birthday edit. How did you get pictures to overlay with the gifs? I'm familiar with gif overlay efect, but this is the first time I've seen an image and gif overlay. It looks so cool. Best wishes.
hi there! getting this effect is super easy! you're simply adding an image layer above your gif and its adjustment layers. since you're familiar with gif overlays, I'm going to assume you're asking how to create a cutout (aka erase the image's background) in order to make that image appear as though it's on top of the gif like this:
Tumblr media
there are a few methods for creating an image cutout (click and zoom for a better view). more info below the cut:
Tumblr media
in the tool bar, the lasso and selection tools are the 3rd and 4th, and they're nested (so you have to right click the tools to see the other options):
Tumblr media
first, let me say: the image you choose will greatly determine how simple or annoying it is to cut the subject. if you find a high-quality image with a solid, high-contrast background, making a cutout will be a breeze. if the background is busy and the edges are fuzzy, it'll be a bit more challenging.
my personal fav tool in most cases is the Quick Selection tool because I find it's, well, quick. you just click a bunch of times until everything you want is outlined by the dotted line. and it works well for both images with solid backgrounds and busy backgrounds. but here's a short explanation of each tool:
Magic Wand: automatically detects a portion of your image using "machine learning" to approximate a selection (a bit too finicky for detailed images or ones with low contrast between the subject and background for me)
Object Selection: allows you to draw a rectangle or ellipse around the subject and automatically detects the selection (I've only used this once, but you can see in the image above, it did a pretty good job! that was just one click)
Quick Selection: my fav! you can adjust the brush size and continually click your subject until the dotted line is outlining it fully
Magnetic Lasso: haphazardly draw a line around your subject and this tool will smart-detect the edges and "snap" anchor points around your subject like a magnet. it's relatively accurate except around finer details like hair
Polygonal Lasso: the most manual and, therefore, my least favorite of the options (hence why I didn't finish it in the example above lol). you have to click all around the subject to connect the dots. not fun for subjects with lots of curves and crevices (at least not for me)
whatever option you choose, the most important part for perfecting the selection is the "Select and Mask..." tool in the upper toolbar:
Tumblr media
this tool opens a new panel where you can refine the selection and see the effects in real time. I don't have any go-to numbers for this, it's all about tinkering with the sliders until you're happy with it. but I usually play with everything except Feather because I want sharp edges.
in the gif below, I used the Refine Hair tool (which refines the selection around the hair automatically), moved the sliders very minimally because my selection using Quick Selection was already pretty decent. then, I'm showing you the effects of Shift Edge. increasing it pushes the selection outward, creating a sort of buffer. this could be good if you want to go in later with a layer mask and manually erase some parts yourself. decreasing Shift Edge pulls the selection in tighter. I wouldn't recommend decreasing too much as this can cut off too much of your subject:
Tumblr media
once you're happy, click OK and you'll come back to your normal screen with the dotted lines. simply use the Command+J shortcut to duplicate your selection — leaving you with the original image and a layer with only the cutout. from there, you can add a black and white background to check if you missed any bits, and then use a layer mask and black brush to erase them:
Tumblr media
then, just like you would if you were overlaying a gif, add the image layer ABOVE your gif and adjustment layers, and color the image separately if needed. you can also choose to add the image above or below your text layers if you have any. in my case, the image is above the text:
Tumblr media
sorry this isn't as organized as my usual tutorials, but I hope it answers your question and helps nonetheless! :)

introduction / pinned post.
Howdy - I'm Maddie, but you can call me Minerva, minervamagicka or any of the three. I've been playing the Sims since 2010 and making CC for just about as long; though my current focus is Sims 4 equestrian-themed content in collaboration with my partner in crime, Schrodcat, who you can find on DA. Both of us will have a hand in just about everything that is to be released on this tumblr & to DA.
cc master folders
I've reorganized my SFS into folders that I'll be linking below for folks to refer to when searching for my CC. If you'd rather get everything in one go, this is the easiest way to do it!
Click here to view the SFS folder for all of my SIMS 3 content.
Click here to view the SFS folder for all of my SIMS 4 content.
These folders (or, well, just the TS4 folder) will have all of my CC added to them as its' released so they'll always be up to date!
p.s. if any creators would like an SFS code please message me!
donations
I'm not going to proselytize too much concerning my stance on modding and financial compensation here, as it could be an essay in and of itself. What it comes down to is this; everything I ever post for download will always be and always shall be 100% free. It will never be paywalled, hosted behind an ad.fly link or for purchase. However, for those who may want to buy me a coffee so I can fuel my caffeine addiction and keep posting at the speed of sound;
My Ko-Fi & SchrodCat's Ko-Fi / SchrodCat's Patreon
Again; financially supporting one, either or both of us will not grant access to anything exclusive or tangible beyond our gratitude. Additionally, donating with suggestions or requests will not mean those ideas will be automatically fulfilled as if they were a commission. This is just if you wish to express some thanks and get us some drinks!
requests / 'can you do xyz?'
I'm always happy to receive any requests or suggestions for what to release next, however me & S already have quite the list of personal ideas we want to get through first. Therefore, any requests we get will be secondary to those until we finish.
'what are you working on right now?'
S & I have set up a proper Trello board to track our progress on our original meshes & game conversions. You can view it here!
'how can i learn to mod?'
My friend Schrodcat wrote an excellent DA post on this topic with links to resources & some very solid advice on getting into CC creation or modding in general.
'you didn't make [xyz game model], how dare you convert it to the sims?!'
As I've seen an uptick in off-site concern over my [Game]toTS4 conversions, I'm adding this disclaimer to my pinned post that I do not convert models for profit, and I do so transformatively and as a fan of the original work. If it continues to bother you that I do so without the explicit permission/support of the games I port from, I kindly ask you to not engage and to leave my blog.
To learn more, I recommend reading my initial statement on my SSO ports, or, if you're interested in learning more about my stance on modding and my belief in the 'moral economy' of modding in general, this published journal covering the subject may of interest, or this journal article explicitly discussing the use of copyrighted material in modding.

Sinking
Rating: Mature
Words: 1742
Characters: Gilbert, Reader
Warnings: This fanfic focuses on the act and discussion of self harm. I do not recommend this to those sensitive to it, and fully encourage you to scroll past. Additionally, this is not meant to be portrayed as a glorification of the act.
-----
Until that very moment, you weren't aware of just how long you could hold your breath.
An ache settles deep in your jaw, your lungs, as you stare back at the figure standing in the doorway to your room. The only sound you can register is the thunderous thumping of your heart beating against your bones, until Gilbert quietly shuts the door behind him.
The click of the lock sets your mind into overdrive, a thousand panicked thoughts meshing together in a cacophony. Painful, as you struggle to remember to breathe. With his first step towards you, you've dropped your knife on the floor in your haste to cover up your thigh.
He's already seen it. You know he has. But you pitifully try to pretend otherwise, not caring how stained your underskirt will be the longer you hold it there, against your crying skin.
His steps come closer, until the tips of his boots come into view- and that view is forced on him now, as he grasps your chin, looking down upon you.
"Little rabbit, what have you done to yourself?"
.
In all the years of this haphazard routine, there were steps you followed to do your damndest to ensure that this was kept private. Knowing that you somehow even managed to mess that up during a fit of overwhelming emotions, that Gilbert, out of everyone it could have been, found out…
It was shameful, the speed at which tears flooded your vision. Gone was his blood red eye, and instead you winced your eyes shut as you croak out a plea.
"D-don't tell anyone."
It's the first words to tumble from your mouth, and the way they do so is pathetic. Your voice is shaking, so much quieter than you had hoped for, and at first he pauses.
The emotion you couldn't put a name to, adding so much tension to the air, finally shows itself in the way his grip tightens on your chin. The way he pulls his hand back, taking in a deep breath before moving to sit on his knees, pulling the fabric of your skirt away from your hands.
As the cool air touched your sensitive skin, littered with clusters of haphazard cuts, you realize that it is anger that exudes from him.
The question of why, however, remains unanswered. Too distracted with how shame fills you, watching as he inspects what you've done to yourself.
Never in your entire existence did you hope for this. This was an outlet, a secret of yours that you wished would never rear its head as often as it did.
But here was Gilbert, letting out a steady sigh at the sight.
"You don't let them get infected." He mutters, and the anger dissipates slightly.
You’re unsure of how to respond, the fear of the situation still settled into your bones. In hiccups your breath attempts to steady out.
“A-are you going to tell anyone?
“That depends on your answers.”
“You’re…Going to integrate me over this?”
Gilbert’s eye flicks back towards you, and through the thinning tears you can feel the sharpness of his gaze.
“I want to know why you’re doing this.” “That’s… Complicated. I can’t answer that succinctly.” “I’m aware,” another sigh leaves him, eye looking for what you dropped earlier now. Despite that, the tension he holds never ebbs away- his touch on your thigh now a tight fist, and you can tell he’s considering his next action.
It’s then that he finds your knife, taking a cloth from his inner pocket and wiping it clear of the lingering blood and dirt it gathered. Decidedly, he holds your knife up, continuing.
“I don’t plan to ask away and give nothing in return.”
The metal catches the light, a cast of white against the dark that is Gilbert as a whole. There’s a layer of fear still coating each thought, each breath, but you manage to clamor your heart down. The question of why Gilbert is seeking answers is one you know you can’t uncover, not as it stands now, but. Knowing that for once, just this once, someone could take the dirtiness of the act away from your sore hands, wins over your reason.
.
The way he handles the knife with ease, fills your heart with a cold unlike any other. Knowing that his movements are practiced, because this is nowhere near the first time he's laid a blade to someone else's skin. That, if he so desired it, he could hurt you beyond repair. Sink the metal into your pliant flesh, scar you indefinitely.
Yet, it rests gently against your skin. He holds it still, surveying the faded marks resting there. He drags the tip of the blade to each one, thinking.
"You never cut deep enough to leave an actual scar. Why is that?"
The casual way he asks such a thing causes your stomach to twist. All of this is just idle curiosity for him, and nothing more.
But the fear of the others- of Rio finding out, wins over. Numbly, you mutter out.
"I don't want it to be obvious. If it's too deep, it could hurt to walk- and people would realize something isn't quite right-"
"Even those who drove you to this?"
"...I did this. No one forced me."
That piercing red eye is upon you once more, his expression emotionless, searching. Unsure of what it seeks, you stare back at it, nibbling your bottom lip as your nerves settle in.
After a moment, Gilbert turns his attention back to your thigh, tracing the tip of your knife down past the history you've carved, to a patch of clean skin. It's there that he angles the knife, hesitation void.
The first cut is a kiss against your skin. Blood pebbles up in spots along the cut, but it barely satiates the itch that has been screaming inside of you. It wasn't deep enough- why was he going easy with you?
You decide that, perhaps, he's spent the years being so cruel, that it's difficult for him to reign it in properly- that this was too gentle on accident.
Yet, the second cut mimics the first. Barely any blood, barely any pain, and your body is shaking. This craving you've had built up over weeks, and the man you expected to show no mercy in this regard was currently hesitating.
"Do you hurt yourself in other ways?"
The question is quiet. Gilbert is still staring at your thigh.
"Sometimes."
"But you settle on this? Why?"
Why? Your thoughts come out instantly, your throat feeling hoarse.
"It's punishment."
The third cut has your breath stopping. It's no longer a lovers kiss- instead it's biting, sinking deeper into your flesh than you've ever had it before. You have to clench your jaw and knuckle your seat, lest you come off as weak.
And as he slices through your skin, Gilbert keeps his gaze on your face, watching how it twists in discomfort. How, once he finally stops, your eyebrows relax into relief.
"For what?"
"F-for…everything. For being me. For existing. I-I don't…" Again, annoyingly again, tears well up in your eyes, "I can't explain…"
Unable to stand his eye, his imploring- his everything, you keep your eyes shut. Out of all the discomfort of letting someone else know of this, of playing along with idle questions, you're more disgusted with yourself at the fact that the inhumane wailing inside of you- your own personal beast fighting its confines, has finally died down. At the pain ebbing in your thigh, you're finally able to ease the deep ache in your muscles. And shame hits you. Hard.
"Prince Gilbert, I can't… I can’t."
Gone is reason and will, at this point. Now, you just want to hide away, burrow under blankets until you’re forgotten by all. The burning inside of you has been released, and pitifully you come out of the afterglow, scarred and exhausted.
In a moment like this, it would make sense for a man such as he to live up to the titles others whispered to you. To mock you in some way, blackmail you over such a vile act.
Yet, the only sound past your quiet hiccups is him wiping the knife clean, and the shuffling of cloth. There was a gruffness that you had expected from the start, yet Gilbert’s hands are gentle on your skin. With patience, he gingerly wipes the blood from your skin. No comments come from his mouth until you hiss from the ointment he dabs onto the cuts, and it’s as quiet as his touches.
"Do you remember that night in the church?"
It's the sound of your poor attempts at collecting yourself, first, in the silence. But Gilbert waits patiently until you nod, giving up on finding your voice.
"Do you remember what I told you?"
Through the haziness of shameful satisfaction, finding the answer takes a moment. When you had initially heard the odd declaration, your mind had promptly tried to brush it away, but now a cold sweat forms as you mutter, "you said you're…the only one allowed to hurt me."
“Did you not think I was serious?”
You’re unsure how to answer. Instead you meet his gaze, resisting the shiver at seeing his frown. Now, you’re plagued with your own questions, and one slips out at the thought.
“Why does this matter to you?” There isn’t an emotion to his face, not as he bandages your thigh, paying special attention to the last cut. When he deems it secure and tended to, he tugs your skirts back down. It’s then that you notice how tired he seems. That the anger in the air still lingers, but dissipated. An odd calm remaining in spite of it.
“We’re friends. It’s normal not to want them to get hurt by others- or themselves, no?”
He continues without your reply, standing and looking back down upon you. The judgement you want isn’t there. Instead, you watch him pocket your knife deliberately, giving a smile that doesn’t reach his eye. You almost miss his words at first, the twisting in your stomach suddenly wishing that this cruel man wasn’t showing you an ounce of kindness.
“I’ll keep your secret this time.”
“And the next time?” You meekly call out, worried your voice will be drowned by the sound of his cane tapping back towards the door.
“Will there be a next time, little rabbit?”

No tags on this, I don’t want to hear about if you believe this is ooc or not either. If you did not like it, kindly leave me alone.
I don’t know what the takeaway of this will be. I don’t know if this is confusing, or if this makes sense to some. I am also not sure if I will keep this up, or add it to my masterlist. I might let it sink into the void of my blog. I do want to provide some clarifications, however, just for my sake.
Gilbert will not do this again for her. He will not suggest it, threaten it, or promise it as a ‘reward’. For me, this was Gilbert allowing her one last indulgence while trying to understand where her thoughts took her for these actions, before forcing a step towards stopping.

a guide to dnfao3tags!
hello there :] i'm kay, the admin of this blog. i've been running this blog from april 29 2022 when i made my dnf starter pack post for all those new to dnf fics. since then, i've made more than 700 posts and have added many features to my blog.
here's a little guide to everything and anything dnfao3tags!
(highly recommend checking my blog out on a pc, a lot more features are easily visible that way)
new to dnf?
as mentioned above, i have a starter pack; along with that i'd like to recommend :
my personal favs
my tag navigation page so you can easily find fics according to your wishes
i also have a masterpost of a significant number of fics i've recommended on this blog, however i don't often update it so its a little useless
every month (or whenever im free), i try to make a monthly fic roundup which i post in the first week of the new month; stay tuned for that
my trope wise reclists
spotlight fic recs from my bookmarks (dnfao3tags bookmarks)
all of my fic rec posts (dnfao3tags recs) - including reclists, spotlight fic recs, fic was founds, etc
posts made by authors themselves for their own fics (author post)
fic recs made by writers themselves (author recs)
there's also a dnf ship wiki surprisingly which might be useful if you want to get familiar with them
if you're confused about any references or something, feel free to send me an ask and hopefully me or my followers can help.
'can i help you?'
absolutely! while i don't accept any more mod/admins on this blog, you can still do the following :
rec/submit a fic (self-promo encouraged)
send me a quote you liked from a fic and view some dnf fic quotes here
here are a bunch of fic not founds that unfortunately were never found. take a look and see if you recognise any!
you can also send me fics to submit in the monthly fic roundup
sometimes i can't find fics for certain tropes so i crowdsource; check if know any fics for that particular trope and send them in
send some fic ideas you have!
deleted fics
i already made a guide to how i deal with deleted fics on this blog.
my Finding Deleted Fics: A Multi-Method Guide post.
if you're an author and would like me to take down your fics then send me a dm and i'll happily do it. if you'd like, i could also only share them in dms too.
fic not found
feel free to ask about any lost fics and i'll see if me or my followers can recognize it. please please Please be as specific as possible and also mention if you think it may be deleted.
i will post your ask asking my followers if i don't recognize it and if someone helps me out, i'll reblog your ask with the found fic so just keep checking the reblogs or the tags fic was found & fic potentially found.
searching my blog
if you open my blog on pc then you'll see one search bar in the header:
Tumblr media
and one like this below the updates box:
Tumblr media
the google enhanced search box is more accurate so i recommend using that one ! however, it is definitely not foolproof so i also recommend using my tagnav to search for a specific post because i tag pretty much everything. you can also send me an ask.
cool features
i have a music player ! you can send in songs for me to add to it
any tips and tricks i have for ao3 will be in this how to ao3 tag
want some writing inspo? here are some fic ideas
you can also ask me for song based reqs
i also have author archives for anonymous authors (eg. mario anon), deleted authors and orphaned authors
click this for a random post of mine
more stuff
i have a twitter (though i am inactive there)
please read my about/faq page before sending asks
i have a tag for any posts that aren't specifically fic recs and just me talking (kay talks) which you can mute if you aren't interested
occasionally i get asks about dreamnotnap which i sometimes answer; you can also mute that tag along with my not dnf tag
and that's all i can currently think of!
i'm thinking of adhering to a posting schedule so i might post about that later. i'm a bit more free these days so i'll probably be a bit more quick to asks.
hope this helped you guys out; thanks for reading :]

Note
hey! i found you thru your neocities site and really really wanted to ask, how did you code your art gallery? it's lovely and perfect and i high-key want to steal it
THANK YOU FIRST OF ALL!
secondly... I wish i could give you a comprehensive answer but truth is since i worked on it for over a year i don't remember everything i did? a lot of the things i achieve with my markup is based on trial and error and testing different solutions. i don't actually know what i'm doing lol. i use a lot of tutorials and old forum posts and such and i wish i could just link those but when so much time has passed i can't remember everything i looked up. HOWEVER i'll try my best to provide some basic guidance to what's what, and what it does in my markup, to make it easier if you want to copy my shoestring bullshit. (and past how embarrassing it is that my markup is so messy and inefficient, i have no problem with anyone referencing my source or even copy pasting whole chunks of it to have a base to work from if they wanna make something similar to me. no credit needed ofc , just don't use any of my assets or style it the exact same, make it your own! )
THIS IS GONNA BE A LONG POST SORRY SO I'M GONNA HAVE TO PUT THE REST OF IT UNDER A "KEEP READING" , ANYTHING ELSE WOULD BE INHUMANE...
here are links to the relevant sources for the page, there's also another stylesheet linked but this is just a very basic one for my website that has my fonts and scrollbar styling so it's not important here.
view-source:https://korsse.neocities.org/gallery view-source:https://korsse.neocities.org/sidebarstyle.css
(no idea if these links will work for you or if its different per browser or what, if they don't just go to my gallery and right-click view source or inspect or smth)
btw before reading further its useful to know that i use https://www.w3schools.com/ a lot (playing around with the tryit editor is really helpful to understand HOW shit works. sometimes i even make the basic structure i want in the w3s editor isolated from the rest of my messy markup to ensure i get the basics of it to work before i integrate. this way i know that if it breaks it's because it's conflicting with other shit on the page and not because i fundamentally fucked up. ) and i'm just going to assume you know the basics of stuff like what a div is and the difference between class and id etc...
my gallery is largely based on 3 main types of thing(?) : modal images, tabs and collapsible.
THUMBNAILS AND MODALS
my thumbnails are also css, (I KNOW the method i used for my thumbs is something i got off some forum post or reddit comment or substack or whatever, i can't find it again though.) HOWEVER I would not recommend doing thumbnails the way i did because you do not get an appealing custom crop (or i guess you probably could in theory but to do that for every image would be more work than its worth) and because considering it's really just the full image sized down and cropped with styling, it takes a long ass time to load. ( the only reason i do it this way is to not have to make, edit and host individual thumbnails for 6 years worth of art. it's a real menial task to do when you'd have to do it for over 400 images ) but if you need uniform sized thumbnails the best way to do it afaik is to make them in whatever graphics editor you have. i'm unsure if this would be compatible with image modals ( as constructed in the w3s tutorial ) but if not you could probably just make a box modal do the same thing and have the thumbnails be buttons styled with inline css like this:
<button id="whatever your id is" style="background-image:url(thumbnail path)">
to make them work as thumbnails though you'd have to make all the dimensions of the actual image file for each thumbnail true to the pixel height/width you'd want them to display as on the page and use css to style all the buttons to be those same dimensions. this will interfere with other buttons on the page but you can probably get around this with making a button class. like for example if your thumbnails are 100x100px you slap this in your css
button.thumb {width:100px; height:100px;}
and add this to the button tag
<button id="whatever your id is" class="thumb" style="background-image:url(thumbnail path)">
HOWEVER... this might mean you'd have to make a new modal (on the html side) for every single image so it's probably not ideal if you're gonna have over 400 images like i do... there should be ways to make multiple modals on the same page not a nightmare but you'd have to keep track of unique ids for each one at the very least.
here are both links to the basic w3s modal image and modal box tutorials for convenience.
wish i could have explained what i did better but the modal was like the first thing i did,
Tumblr media
and was kind of a nightmare to figure out because i originally wanted it to display a description using the alt text styled in a very specific way that i ended up scrapping because it was broken as fuck and evil and bad. (cw: gore in the bg of the image below btw)
Tumblr media
my memory has been corrupted so that the battle with the alt text is all i remember from making it rather than the useful stuff that survived into the current version lololol.
tabs
ok now we're getting into the layout of the page itself. my gallery consists of a sidebar and the page content
Tumblr media
in the sidebar the bottom two boxes have the universal stuff that goes on every page that has the sidebar, and the links are just normal links to individual pages. but the top box with the red "links" is the gallery navigation right? and they are not links at all, they're buttons to designated tabs.
for the BASIC layout of the page, it's split into two divs called "sidenav" and "main". [sidenav] is everything that goes in the sidebar space and [main] is literally everything else. there should be nothing directly in the [main] div except for other divs, it is merely a container for the tabs. each and every "page" is a tab, including the "Art" tab that is open by default (i might be wrong but iirc what tab is open by default is simply decided by which one is first in the html document i am so so wrong, it's determined by id in the javascript.)
tab buttons go inside the sidenav div and tabcontent goes inside the main div. i have my tabs styled as inline-block, i can't remember if it matters that much or not but you know... considering what inline-block is, it probably does?
tabcontent contains everything the visitor will see, for most of my gallery tabs this means thumbnails. my thumbnails are laid out in a grid using div classes called "row" and "column" four [column] divs go inside one [row] with one thumbnail directly inside each [column] div. each new line of thumbnails is a new [row] div with another 4 [columns] and their contents, you get it, it's not complicated, just verbose. there are lots of other less amateur ways you can display shit in a grid layout using html/css but my brain is small so this works for me!! :,D
even though they might seem intimidating with the javascript required, tabs in general are pretty simple if you follow the w3s tutorial (there's even one specifically for vertical tabs) . just make sure to keep all the contents of each tab INSIDE said tab and it shouldn't cause much trouble.
since my gallery is so bloated with image links and such i thought i'd also link this example page ( and the source: view-source:https://korsse.neocities.org/temp/exampleignorethis ) i made on the fly for someone else a long time ago. its just a hodgepodge of copy pasted w3s stuff to quickly show off a navbar with tabs and "accordions" (more or less the same thing as collapsible just called smth different in a menu context?) but it's kind of a simple version of the same stuff i did with my gallery? perhaps it can be useful for you as an example, perhaps not. but i might as well link it just in case lol.
collapsibles
the doodle tab also has collapsibles! idk if you even care about this but it's part of my gallery and one of the more fun features that isn't present in your average neocities gallery page. (talking out my ass, maybe they are super common idk, i haven't checked)
the collapsible aren't any more complicated than tabs, and their integration into my gallery isn't any worse than putting the buttons and collapsible content div inside the tabcontent and putting the thumbnails inside the collapsible content div. style as desired with css to make it look the way you want. i didn't do anything too fancy with it. once again easy-peasy if you use the w3s tutorial
Tumblr media
uhhh i think that's it? there is more stuff i could explain but i have very little experience with writing explanations like this so i'll leave it at this to start. but don't hesitate to ask if there's anything specific you found confusing, or anything else about how my gallery works that you want me to go into ! ik i could have been more concise but i'd be here all day retyping stuff so i hope u could bear with my long wall of text, i'm not a writer ^^' (i'm a rambler). good luck on your webpage endeavors!

Happy 4th Anniversary HOLOSTARS!!
Tumblr media
fit all of HOLOSTARS in one meme challenge!! JK seriously though, i geniunely enjoy watching them!! template from Twitter
a bit of story:
I discovered Holostars through curiousity. I obviously know who Kizuna Ai, its impossible to miss her presence as an anime fan and gamer. But I wasn’t that curious to try and find other vtubers like her. It was during the pandemic that I came across Sakura Miko’s GTA clip. It was fittingly funny, aiming at pedestrians while shouting “go home”.
2022, rolled in and majority of us are still stuck at home and I finally asked my brother what is the deal with Sakura Miko. He explained and suggested to check out Korone and HoloMyth. I watched them for a while then I thought, why are all Hololive just girls?
So I searched on YT for male vtubers and pleasantly introduced Kanae and Kuzuha from Nijisanji. I love listening to music so I dipped into their content a bit more specially on the music side, the ChroNoir side. I was then introduced to Kaida Haru. He got a good voice, so I kept clicking on his singing clips. Among the mix of recommended clips, is a weirdly designed male vtuber and I kept ignoring it. But everytime a video ends, there he is. I folded and finally clicked on his video.
youtube
Believe me, I was taken a back by his voice. I was instantly hooked and I looked him up. I was kinda surprised that he is part of Hololive or more specifically Hololive Production’s male division, Holostars.
Before you ask, didn’t Calli collaborated with Rikka? Yes, I came across that but I wasn’t into Myth as much as you would think. It was kinda hard for me to get into her fandom cause of how bad I felt towards them. If you are gonna argue, then why don’t you stay away from her ‘fandom’ and just enjoy her content. Sure I can do that, but sometimes you naturally wanted to know how others perceive her and her awesomeness. And although I know the loudest voice isn’t always the majority, it felt like poison to always come across them all the time.
youtube
Eventually, I got curious enough to check out the other boys for Holostars. Initially, I was just watching clips of them every now and then. At the time, I was still trying to catch up with Hololive EN.
Then one day in July, I decided to just subscribe to all 10 of them. (yea, I subscribed to Kira not knowing he already graduated). And during that night, Arurandeisu was streaming Minecraft. I love Minecraft, although at the time I wasn’t playing it. I was curious as to what he was doing.
youtube
He was trying to get a rare blue axolotl. At the time, I already noticed his view count. Compared to Belmond Banderas, the only Nijisanji member I subscribed to (you’d think I subscribed to Kanae, Kuzuha and Kaida Haru but I never did). I kinda felt bad but I stayed cause I wanted to know how long he’ll take to get one. After 70+ collective hours of Minecraft streams (a bit less for me), he finally got one. I was happy for him but I’m even happier to stay!
I will be honest, I studied basic Japanese and I still have more to learn but despite the glaringly obvious language barrier (not just for me but the rest of the international fans of Holostars) and my reliance on translated clips, Holostars were enjoyable to watch! They are all talented whether its singing, talking/hosting, gaming, and even a bit of fanservice. They are comedians and idols much like the rest of Hololive.
But what made me stay even more are the huge love and support ホロスタ民 (horosutamin / people of Holostars or Holostars nation) / Starlights show. Despite the presence of ‘doubters’, Starlights would counter with how much they support Holostars. Seriously, everytime a doubter say something, Holostars would trend. Sure, it can’t be helped, ホロスタ民 / Starlight also have vocal ones but majority would shout with love and support instead.
I’m seriously happy to find Holostars and its community. I wasn’t keen on joining fandoms before but here, I’m content.
HAPPY 4TH ANNIVERSARY HOLOSTARS!! I wish for more years to come and I will be there every step of the way!

------------------
[Chapter Title: It Didn't Seem like a Nightmare...]
For Alexis, it seemed like any standard day: a couple errands, right after a little magical practice. It's always wise to keep oneself sharp with their skills, no? She's glad she kept on top of her abilities, as it seemed she'd need them... After leaving the store, a plastic bag in hoof, Alexis' sidewalk travels would lead her to a peculiar sight: some strange bipedal being walking down it. Alexis quickly hurried into the nearby alleyway and tried deciphering what the hell it was. Whatever it is, she concluded, it looks like it's part canine: it had a tail, big ears, paws as hands, and a collar. It was the rest of the strange creature that baffled the doe: it had a humanoid form and a blonde bob cut that anyone could wear, but what was that strange hairless face...?
Whatever this thing is, it's nothing natural in this world... Wait, could it possibly be a demon then?! Oh no, they just seem to keep coming, ever since Alexis had... Hold on, a demon didn't make sense to her either: it was definitely a strange-looking creature, but a truly vicious entity wouldn't just be strolling about like it's... nervous? Plus, such monsters tended to work in groups or packs, even if just one would happily make themselves a true menace. Not this creature, though, it even seems more like PREY than a predator: the constant gazing about, how its ears flattened against its head, all like it expects harm from any direction. Well, whatever’s going on, Alexis can’t just let it roam around: even if it’s ultimately harmless, there could be panic and other trouble from everyone else witnessing a “freak” of sorts.
Alexis needs to be careful, however, as a timid appearance didn’t mean a lack of power. In fact, the seeming fearfulness could INCREASE the risk of aggressive behavior, and a possible deadly fight in the town’s center is the last thing Alexis wants. She then notices the strange creature walking past the alleyway entrance, causing the doe to hold her breath and freeze. Fortunately, she only needed her staff for more complex spells and magic, but as for a simple sleep spell…The creature seemed to notice Alexis, its ears perking up and head turning toward her. The moment those big blues faced the doe, she released a strong jolt of magic from her hoof and shut the large eyes behind those glasses. Alexis holds her hands out and lets the toppling thing fall into her arms, then removes her jacket and wraps the smaller being within it. If anyone asked, she’d just claim it’s her weary child. Sure, it might’ve seemed odd to carry a seeming tween than a young toddler, but was it really something to prod a mother about? They would be her baby to hold and care for at any age, really, especially when most needed.
Alexis managed to sneak the odd thing home, soon walking inside the building.
“Mommy!”
Here came little Daisy, always happy to see a parent’s return. She’s not the only one pleased to see Alexis.
“Hey, hon’,” Steve smiles from the nearby doorway, “How was--” he frowns and freezes his gaze upon what she held, “... Alexis, what’s…?”
Daisy already noticed and tilted her head, her big pink eyes looking over the strange person.
“Don’t worry, sweetie,” Alexis smiles down at her, “Mommy just found someone who… might be lost, that’s all. She’s just going to see if she can help.”
"Okay..."
"Why don't you and Daddy help each other with dinner?" Alexis crouches and pats Daisy, "Then we can all eat together, once Mommy's finished."
Alexis' confidence is all Steve needed, the smile returning to his face.
"Well, you heard her, Daisy," he takes his child's much smaller hoof, "Looks like we'll be spending a little more Daddy-daughter time together. Can you remind me what a great table-setter you are?"
"Okay, Daddy!"
Steve casts Alexis one final glance over his shoulder, as if to remind her what a great helper he can be himself should anything go awry. She casts him a reassuring smile, and he smiles in his own satisfaction: his wife had been engaged in... abnormal things ever since she was a teenager, so she would be an expert on whatever's going on. Alexis then carries their "guest" to the attic, her usual spot for more magical endeavors. She removes her jacket and gets a full look at what exactly lies on the floor before herself: it'd look like one of the other upright canine children around here, if not for that odd head...
Alexis examines it first, lifting the chin in a hoof. She brushes her thumb along the skin, surprised by how soft this little thing was. Speaking of "small," it had the tiniest nose Alexis had ever seen: no goat snout like hers nor even an actual canid's black triangle, just a little bump sitting in the center of the face. Could it even be said that it had a muzzle...? Alexis then lifts up the creature's hair, noticing how it's a smooth surface of skin all around the head. She wondered how the glasses were able to stay on so easily, until she saw the back latch of the goggle-like wear. She then rolled up the shirt sleeves and pant legs, after removing the socks and shoes. Alexis wouldn't be too prying, just enough to get an idea of what this thing might be. Now, if it was a corpse instead, it'd have been dissected and then some; but as this was a still-living entity, just a little investigation was enough.
There were paws for hands and feet, but the fur ended a bit below the wrists and above the ankles: a majority of the body seemed to be that hairless skin. Alexis would guess... it's an amalgamation of sorts, like a chimera? Then, what's the non-canine half of it supposed to be...? Alexis took a closer look at the mouth and paws, noticing a sharp set of teeth and nails. So, this thing COULD be dangerous... Good thing she "invited" it to her house, before it had a chance to cause who-knows-what. Alexis then holds the tag of its collar: it had a pawprint on the front, but the back listed a name and other things.
"Clarissa Vlcek; My Family's Numbers..."
... Phone numbers and a collar... Was this someone's pet chimera-thing? Reminds Alexis of when she tried making her own personal pet: a combination of a spider and bat, one she hopefully wouldn't lose like the arachnid friend of Mr. Fuzzybutt. Unfortunately, that fusion ended horribly, and Alexis felt grateful she decided to learn that "death sphere" spell after all. That poor thing… Well, if Alexis had the numbers, she may as well call whomever they belonged to. All Alexis managed to reach: a laundromat, a rental store (a miracle they survive in this day and age), and a Chinese restaurant. Okay, she’s not sure how exactly one creates a puppy-thing within those locations… Still, it was good to be thorough and she could at least ask if anyone there was missing a “little dog kid.” She didn’t feel too surprised when the only answers she got were various versions of, “No.” Well, she had one means of actually getting somewhere with this odd girl.
At least, Alexis believes this creature is female: it’s not exactly like “Clarissa” is a popular BOY’S name… There’s also no way, on Heaven or Earth, Alexis will try pronouncing that tag’s second name. But anyhow, time to see what the strange puppy-girl herself had to say. Alexis grabs her staff and frees the other from slumber’s grasp, but doesn’t grant the girl complete autonomy: a spell to force relaxation of the body’s muscles, thus making a conversation possible without the threat of this pup lunging at her (nor using magic herself). Those big baby blues open once more, as “Clarissa” stirs but can’t move-- let alone push herself up. Panic became evident: the odd pup shifts about in the failed endeavor of regaining bodily control or at least sitting up. Alexis gets her attention by kneeling before her head.
“Hey, can you understand me; can you speak to me…?”
The pup shakes atop the ground, staring at the doe with pure terror. Alexis watches her for a minute, until the lack of response prompts her to try again.
“Don’t be scared, just say something to me…”
Alexis finally decides to reach out and cast a pacify spell, enveloping the other in a white outline. The trembling stops, and the pup calmly looks up at the doe.
“I’m not going to hurt you…” Alexis sighs, “I just need to know what you are and why you were wandering around… So please, just talk to me.”
“...Ca’ s’ea’…”
“Huh?”
“Ca’ s’ea’...”
“I can’t understand you…”
“... Caaaa’t… Sss’eeeeeak…”
Alexis watches the other shake her head, as best as she could with her relaxed muscles. Alexis taps her cheek, pondering what’s being shared.
“... ‘Cat seek’...? … Oh, wait…! Are you saying you ‘can’t speak’?”
A limp nod is given. Oh dear, that issue would make this a bit harder… There might be something Alexis could do, though: a notepad and pen she has up here, specifically. She sets them before the pup.
“Okay, I’m going to let you move now, but behave… I want you to write down an answer to everything I ask.”
Good, this strange girl is quite compliant: she sat up and took the given items, before looking up at Alexis in anticipation.
“So, I looked at your collar tag… Your name’s ‘Clarissa’ then?”
The pup writes on the pad, officially starting their conversation.
“I’m Claire.”
“That’s a cute nickname. I’m Alexis, but you can call me ‘Lexi’ instead if you want. Anyway, what are you exactly…?”
“I’m a wolf-hybrid. What kind of hybrid are you ‘cause I’ve never seen someone with just one horn before?”
“... Um, no, I’m just a regular old goat, last time I checked… Speaking of what someone is, what else are you? I know what wolves are, but… I have no idea what kind of thing has a head like this.”
Claire allows Alexis to hold the side of hers, though her big blues did focus on the resting hoof. Claire raises an eyebrow, but she writes down an answer nonetheless.
“I’m a human where I’m not a wolf.”
… What the hell was THAT supposed to be?? Never, in all of Alexis’ self-familiarizing with the concept of magic and fantastical entities, had she ever heard of “humans.” Well, there’s a first time for everything… Now she wonders what a PURE human would look like.
“What exactly are… ‘hoo-mans’...?”
“Humans look like me, and we have arms and legs; plus, we have lots of skin that isn’t covered in hair and fur. Some humans have animal parts, so they’re ‘hybrids’; some are ‘full-humans’ ‘cause they don’t have tails and other stuff; and some humans even look like you ‘cause they’re the ‘anthro’ kind of hybrid. My dad says it’s ‘cause you look like ‘anthropomorphic animals’; but that last kind of human is really rare, though.”
“Claire, I’m definitely NOT a ‘hybrid’ or ‘human.’ I already told you: I’m just a goat with one horn.”
Claire tilts her head and ears, raising an eyebrow again.
“If you’re not a human, how are you able to have arms and other stuff that humans do?”
“... Claire, sweetie, can you please tell me where you came from: do you remember your home’s name or where it’s located?”
“I live in Wolfuchs, it’s in the German side of our country.”
Alexis pulls out her phone and types the information into the browser’s search engine, but can’t find any results. How can someone come from a place that doesn’t exist-- in fact, how does someone themselves exist when they’re part of a species that has never been in this world? … No, it couldn’t be…
“Claire, do you remember how you got here?”
“Didn’t you bring me here?”
“No, not in my house… Back when you were walking around in town, do you know how you got there?”
Claire took a moment to think, but finally came up with an answer.
“I was at Cio’s pizzeria, then I walked out of the bathroom and I was in a different town after a bright light.”
… It’s just as Alexis thought: somehow, this girl had been brought into a foreign world. She didn’t know who did it nor why, but a sudden magical transportation was the only answer Alexis could figure.
“... Don’t freak out,” the doe finally sighs, “but I think you’re a good distance from home…”
Alexis explains the possibility of Claire’s “travels.” Strange, she seemed to be handling the idea quite well-- oh, wait… The pacifying spell is still in effect. Well, Alexis can’t just keep her under it forever… When Alexis finally waved away the white outline, Claire’s behavior changed immediately: she dropped the pen and notepad, she hyperventilated and looked around, and overall looked ready to have that shaking form pass out. Alexis reaches out a comforting hoof.
“H-Hey, it’s--”
Claire snaps her head toward Alexis, focusing those horrified and teary eyes on her, before backing away. Oh, right, Alexis was still a complete stranger of an even stranger world to this girl… At that, a complete stranger who brought the girl into the secluded location of her house. The clear ability to impact Claire’s body and state of emotion likely didn’t help, either. Alexis tensed up herself, not knowing what the hyperventilating pup was about to do or COULD do…
“Hey, calm down…! D-Don't do anything crazy now…”
Claire lowered herself onto all fours: her long arms, perfectly matched with her legs in length, made it easier to scamper into the nearby corner. She shrinks down as much as possible, as if Alexis beat her with that staff. Claire covers her head and face, lying down now, as Alexis kneels before her again. The pup cried and whimpered, trembling against the wall and floor. Alexis reaches out slowly, resting a hoof on Claire's head.
“Okay, okay… Shhh…” Alexis pets her, “Just calm down… Take a few deep breaths; you're safe here, I promise…”
Claire's trembling subsides a bit, and Alexis tries pulling her close. Claire allows it, but doesn't uncover her eyes. Alexis rests the near-limp girl’s head against her, holding Claire similar to an infant: a combination of sitting up and lying in the doe’s arms.
“That’s it, just shhh… Good girl.”
Alexis notices that fluffy blue tail wagging faintly in response, which brings a smile to her face. She then moves Claire’s head up and lays it against her shoulder, while using her other hand to gently caress the pup’s back.
“Yeah, good girl… Let's just calm down…”
Claire no longer gives even the quietest of whimpers, now practically sleeping against the doe. Alexis holds her close for a short bit longer, until she lays Claire within her arms again. The pup turns toward Alexis, balling up those paws and resting them against her little chest. Alexis smiles widely, wondering if all “humans” and “hybrids” were this cute. Alexis then frowns, knowing Steve may get worried if she's up here for too long… Alexis uses another sleep spell to ensure Claire won't wake before she has a chance to return. She lies Claire down, then returns with a pillow and blanket to let the pup have a comfier slumber.
Alexis enters the kitchen, just as her family finishes preparing dinner. Before taking her own seat, she whispers an invitation for Steve to come see who their “visitor” is. She knows he's curious and he’ll worry a little less when he sees Claire for himself, if not entirely lose any concerns altogether. Daisy would have some TV time after the meal, while Alexis leads Steve to her workspace. His reaction was as Alexis expected: no shrieking in terror nor leaping into her arms to point at the “weird thing,” but being a wide-eyed buck who knelt down for a closer look. Like an old friend of hers, Steve had a sense of adventure and some healthy curiosity: a small wolf-girl like this would pique his interest, at least a little bit. Alexis thought it looked cute: Claire faintly wagging her tail and snuggling up in the blanket, as Steve gently ran a hoof along her hair and massaged her big ears.
“Heh, I gotta admit: whatever it is, it’s pretty soft and cute.”
Alexis then shared what Claire explained, from her species to where she lived. Steve raises an eyebrow, though he entirely believes her. Alexis wasn’t the only one, even outside of her family, who knew about the existence of life’s odder elements.
“Who do you think brought her here?” Steve asks, “Did you also see anything else strange?”
“No, just Claire here…” Alexis caresses the sleeping pup’s head, “I can’t figure out why she appeared, though…”
“... Do you think it might be the same reason demons sometimes show up? There have been more of them lately, and now that someone from a different world is suddenly walking around…”
As Steve holds his chin and ponders things, Alexis freezes and watches him with widened eyes. She knew what exactly helped those demons walk their world-- or WHO did. No… She couldn’t also be responsible for Claire, could she? Things were bad enough, without Alexis also “stealing” little ones from their homes… What if she just caused Claire’s possible family and friends to experience the same panic the poor girl had? Ugh, she sometimes had to wonder if becoming a witch was the right choice after all… It didn’t always feel so, when she sometimes had innocent people pay the price for HER desires!
“... I-I guess it could be…” Alexis finally sighs, “But right now, we should just focus on what we’ll do about Claire. I’m actually considering letting her stay here: being alone in a new world could get her into trouble, and I’d definitely want someone to take care of Daisy if SHE vanished somewhere…”
“If you feel like she’s better off here, I won’t argue,” Steve smiles and puts a hand on her shoulder, “I also trust you to know a troublemaker when you see one, so I’ll welcome anyone you do,” he then frowns, “We still have to consider Daisy, though… It might scare her to have a stranger in the house, especially someone she’s not exactly used to seeing.”
“I don’t think we need to worry too much. Claire’s very friendly; she’s just a bit easy to scare, that’s all. I’m sure she and Daisy will like each other.”
“Think it’d be better to have her meet us separately then? If she’s more comfortable with both of us first, she’ll definitely be calmer about Daisy; and Daisy might feel easier about someone her folks already like.”
“Yeah, that’d probably be better… I can have you two officially know each other, when Daisy’s asleep.”
“That’d be fine.”
With little one eventually in bed, it was time for Steve to properly learn about the wolf-girl. Predictably, Claire retracted under the blanket and trembled; but Alexis sat behind her and raised the girl into her arms.
“Don’t worry, Steve won’t hurt you… He’s my husband; so he basically likes anyone I do, and I definitely like ya.”
“Whoa, you weren’t kidding…” Steve frowns, “Then again, can’t say I’d be too happy about being thrown into some strange new place with strange new people. I just hope we don’t look like monsters to her…”
“I don’t think we need to worry about that, since some of those ‘humans’ aren’t too different.”
“Do they also have just one horn?”
“... No, she’s never seen someone with just one before.”
Alexis bites her lip, as Steve touches his singular one.
“... You ever wonder why it seems to just be us or the people back in your old town?” Steve finally lowers his hoof, “The other goats around here all have two; and even when we travel on vacation, TWO horns seems to be the norm. If it’s uncommon in even other worlds, then what do you suppose makes US so ‘special’...? It can’t just be some weird ‘mutation’ thing.”
“I-I’m not sure…” Alexis hugs Claire tightly, “M-Maybe it has something to do with being able to use magic…”
Claire perks up at Alexis’ sudden tension, looking at the doe. Alexis notices the big blues focused on her, realizing she just used Claire as an accidental stress ball. Alexis then loosens her remaining arm on the pup, before smiling and petting the kid’s head. Claire relaxes and lies against the doe, even seeming to mind Steve’s unfamiliar presence a little less now. Alexis always tried to hide the unease, whenever Steve felt curious about the single point on his skull. After all, it was never meant to naturally be there. She always worried about what may happen, if he found out about that and then some… Steve realizes he, once again, discomforted his wife.
“Sorry…” Steve sighs, “it’s just something I think about a lot…”
“A-Anyway, Claire’s easy to get along with,” Alexis redirects, continuing her petting, “See? Just a few cuddles and pets…”
“Yeah, she seemed to like it when I held her ears, didn’t she?”
Touch seemed to be an important factor of trust to the pup: between Alexis’ kind hold and her own caresses, and Steve’s gentle petting of Claire’s head and ears, Claire appeared more relaxed. With that newfound comfort and trust in the goats, Claire followed them into their bedroom. Alexis thought it’d be pretty lonely and cruel to have her stay in the attic… A little sleeping bag was set down beside Alexis’ side of the mattress, since Claire seemed to be more trusting of her. Whenever Alexis tried retracting her hoof from the pup’s caressed head, Claire would grab her wrist; but all Alexis had to do was wait a bit, and the sleeping girl finally let her lie back onto the bed.
The following morning, Alexis would wake Claire up and tell her about “one more person” to meet; while Steve would awaken Daisy, telling her about a “special guest” he and Mommy wanted her to meet. In the living room, Daisy entered by Steve’s side and gasped at the sight of Claire sitting beside Alexis. The pup has a comforting arm around her, but she appears equally anxious about Daisy: Claire recoils a little, her ears perked back and paws balled up against her chest.
“It’s alright, Daisy,” Steve smiles at her, “Mommy and Daddy wouldn’t have you meet her if she was a bad person.”
“It’s okay, Claire,” Alexis pats her shoulder, “You’re not doing anything wrong, Daisy can just be a little shy, too. You definitely don’t need to worry about her hurting you or anything.”
Daisy is brought closer, causing pup and kid to share an unbroken gaze. Alexis takes Claire’s arm and has her extend a paw, while Claire looks at her.
“Go on, let Daisy get to know you. That’s a good girl…”
That tail adorably wagged again, confirming to Alexis Claire really did love being called so. Claire’s paw shook, but she accepted the little hoof that Steve guided into it. Daisy looked at how her hand differed from Claire’s: five digits than three, being more like a circle and with smaller pad circles… Daisy poked a couple, while Claire became a wide-eyed statue. Bless the hybrid’s heart, probably terrified at doing anything to harm Daisy and upset her parents… Alexis was worried about Claire’s nails, but Claire would probably need to actually swipe at someone-- and it’s clear she wouldn’t even think of doing so right now. Daisy now held the large paw in both hooves, squeezing the blue sphere. She then looks back up at the hybrid, who hasn’t taken her eyes off the little doe and kept her ears perked back. Daisy slowly releases Claire’s paw and holds her hooves behind her back, looking back up at the other.
“... Hi…”
“... ‘i-i…”
That was how Alexis’ family gained an additional member, in the form of a girl from another world. Claire seemed to adjust to her new life well enough, despite the reasonable heartache about her old home from time to time. To help her blend in with their world, Alexis would use glamour magic: she didn’t turn Claire into another one-horned goat, but instead transformed Claire’s head into an actual wolf’s whenever they left home. No need to use more magic than is necessary, when Claire’s physique didn’t differ from the anthropomorphic animals here otherwise (her clothes could hide the lack of fur). To anyone who’d ask: Alexis and Steve would claim they took in a “foster child,” someone they also “homeschooled because of her special needs.” Little Daisy did a good job in maintaining the ruse that Mommy and Daddy asked of her, but Claire did become a genuine older sister: Claire was fun to play with and she was always kind to the little goat.
Claire certainly deserved to be called an OLDER sister… Alexis expected her to be half a decade or so older than Daisy, but the “pup” was actually around TWO decades older! Goodness, these “hybrids” and “humans” either age at a much different rate, or they’re rich in youthful vitality… Then again, Claire clearly has developmental issues if she can’t speak properly at her age, so Alexis wasn’t surprised when Claire also shared she “couldn’t grow right.” Fortunately and like good parents, Alexis and Steve already prepared themselves for the possibility of someone who’d need “extra care,” just in case it might’ve been Daisy instead. Claire didn’t need anything too grand, however, she just simply needed someone to take care of her-- especially in an unfamiliar place like this. Of course, the pup could easily earn her keep through chores and other means, when not just being generally nice to have around.
Claire might not have been a second daughter-- especially with only being a few years younger than the adult caprines --but Steve came to think of her as a sister himself, though as a little one instead. Claire certainly got her fair share of playful noogies and teasing otherwise, but she never found herself upset by Steve’s antics and even had a large grin accompanying the usual tail-wagging. But when it came to Alexis, there was something “stronger”... And not just on Claire’s side of things. Claire did have a bond with Steve and Daisy, but it was often Alexis’ hip she was joined to: she followed her whenever possible, she always did whatever was asked and loved being her “good girl”... Alexis even worried Claire could become jealous of Daisy or vice versa, but Claire luckily proved too mature and Daisy was far from a selfish brat. But still, Claire was always ready to trot back up to Alexis’ side, whenever she finished her motherly duties or completed something else.
The doe loved every minute of it: she’d never been so naturally special to someone before, and Claire was such an adorable sweetheart. Of course, not to say Alexis had never experienced love before: Steve and Daisy were clear proof of the opposite, and Alexis’ parents and old friend also cared for her. However, there was just something about Claire’s eagerness to please her and the natural comfort Claire found in her-- and ONLY her… It could be argued that Alexis was simply the one to first quell and find her, but Claire’s constant interest and loyalty went beyond such bias. Whether it was Claire following along without protest or smiling at a job well done for Alexis, the doe felt like she finally had a lifelong wish granted-- and without her needing to put in the… “effort” this time.
… But if Claire knew what Alexis would become because of her, the pup would have abandoned the family on that first night and never looked back-- unfamiliar world or not.

Airships: Conquer the Skies
by Zarkonnen
Price (US): $24.99
Included In: Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality
Genre: Strategy, Simulation
Pitch: Build airships. Build cities. Conquer the world.
My expectations: Despite its slightly underwhelming art style, my first impression is very positive. It looks almost like my beloved SimTower, except the tower is a floating war machine bent on world domination. I can tell you right now that if I can name the pilot, she's going to be Wendy O. Koopa. My big worry is not with the game, but with me. I am currently being weaned off of one prescription and replacing it with another. My brain is mush. I'm look at screenshots covered in tiny text and numerous numbers. I don't know if I can handle anything too complicated today.
Review:
My fear that Airships: Conquer the Skies would be too complicated for my feeble brain was unfounded. Thanks to smart layout and clear indications of what issues require attention, it only took a few minutes for me to find my bearings. That’s when the trouble began.
The trouble: I’m committed to reviewing a new game every day. I don’t have space in my life for a new addiction.
Tumblr media
The tutorial focuses on combat. Learn to fly a ship. Learn to fly a ship within range of an enemy, and let the crew fire away until your target drops. Learn to modify a ship. Build a ship from scratch—engines, fuel, crew quarters, safety features, reinforced hulls, and every weapon in your budget—and see how it does. Got all that? Now let’s talk tanks.
Tumblr media
An hour-long tutorial is usually enough to drive me away from any game, but most of that time is spent playing, and it’s a blast. I started the main game, expecting more of the same, with a little connective tissue between battles. I was wrong.
Tumblr media
Combat and ship-building are only slivers of this grand strategy game. Research! Diplomacy! Town development! And it’s all shockingly intuitive.
Tumblr media
+ As dense as it is massive, and yet it's the most intuitive, approachable grand strategy game I've ever played. + Researching new parts and building for a purpose within a budget is RollerCoaster Tycoon-level addictive. + Randomly generated scenarios (that can be tailored with a million options), 100-ish different starting perks (I lost count), scenario editors, importing and exporting designs, mod support, and multiplayer that's as cooperative or competitive as you want it to be—this game is infinite. + Memorable music. The right level of bombast for a friendly game of world domination.
– Even with the UI bumped up to the largest setting, the text is a little too small, especially with the difficult typeface. Still, props for including UI scaling and a dyslexia-friendly font. – The default keyboard shortcuts are... They're all over the place. You can remap them, but there are so many. WASD moves the view, which makes sense. I wish they'd stuck the most useful commands on nearby buttons, but instead, it was up to me to figure out that swapping M and E makes life easier. – Hotkeys aren't necessary. The whole game can be played with mouse (although hotkey shortcuts are listed beside everything that can be clicked, making text even harder to read). Action scenes can be paused, so quick action isn't required, but the in-game mouse speed is slower than my Windows setting. Maybe I could dig into a config file and change it, but y'know, I'm used to my mouse moving the way I like. Why change it? – Even playing at double speed, idly waiting for money to accumulate and vehicles to be built can drag on for a bit too long.
🧡🧡🧡🧡🤍
Bottom Line: If Airships: Conquer the Skis has been an overlooked part of your Itch library since you got the Bundle for Racial Equality and Justice in mid-2020, download it right now, even this isn't your genre. I think you'll be surprised. I know I was. I can't give that kind of blanket recommendation at full price, but for the right person, we're talking about hundreds of hours of quality entertainment for $25.

Okay I hate to be that guy but, watch the video
The title and thumbnail admittedly ARE very clickbaity but that's the whole point yk? (The point being to getting views and exposure in youtube's algorithmic hellscape)
Having actually watched the video, the creator dives into the history and mechanics or real world fascism, particularly the part of it that convinces young men to readily dedicated their lives to a cause (sound familiar?)
I'll admit, when I first saw the video in my suggested feed I had that same kneejerk reaction oh 'oh here's some reddit dudebro with no idea what he's talking about trying to edgy for clicks' but upon actually watching the video I was pleasantly surprised by what I can only describe as a thought experiment in story analysis that compared real world propaganda and indoctrination of the political sense with the fictional football propaganda and indoctrination of bluelock.
Does that mean I agree with everything said in the video or don't think that some parts of it are reaching a bit? No, ofc not. But I also dont think overall that it's a BAD video or analysis.
The creator also emphasises, pretty early on in the video and again at the end iirc, that he's not saying that bluelock (its story, creators, or audience) subscribes to or pushes a fascist ideology (be it of a western or distinctly japanese imperialist flavour) but rather that you can examine the, lets call it what is, psychological manipulation and indoctrination in bluelock through the lens of fascism. And honestly? After having watched his video, I'm inclined to agree with him a bit, or, again, at least entertain the idea as an interesting thought experiment in interpretation and analysis.
Other than that? I agree with everything you said about bluelock! Especially the parts about how disability is presented narratively, its a topic I wish more people would comment on.
(I do also feel the need to point out that at no point in the video does the creator go 'oh look German characters, nazism!!', I can understand why you jumped to that conclusion based on the general intelligence level of shounen manga """analysis""" on youtube but this is why I'd recommend, like, actually watching a video before critiquing the points it supposedly makes?? Because you just kinda bad faith assumed something and didn't even check if that assumption was correct or not before getting mad about it)
I'm not saying you have to like the video or agree with ALL the analysis in it, I certainly don't, probably especially because I'm a manga reader and the creator is an anime only fan, but I think calling it 'dangerous' based entirely off of your own assumptions about what the video is about versus what it ACTUALLY says is, well, disingenuous at best. Although I certainly agree with you that bluelock, especially storylines the anime hasnt adapted yet, can also be interpreted and analyse through an anti-fascist lens.
TL;DR art is subjective, this video is not a bad faith analysis purely trying to be edgy for the sake of edginess, and maybe actually consume something before you critique what you assume it's about, because there certainly ARE valid criticisms to be made of that video, but to do that you actually need to watch it first
Just saw a clickbait ass youtube video that called Blue Lock fascist and I will admit first and foremost that I didn't watch it before I dive into my rant but here's why that's a dangerous and misleading way to portray Blue Lock.
So first of all, popular animes and mangas having possibly fascist undertones is nothing new. I won't deny that there's a long history of Japan being a colonizer and commiting atrocities that are still brushed off or forgotten about to this day. And this does seep into some works that I personally choose to not engage with for exactly that reason. Miss me with trying to be an apologist for or glorifying real world war crimes- But Blue Lock specifically? I'd be extremely hard pressed to call it fascist.
Fascism is defined as an alt-right, ultra nationalistic political ideology usually characterized by a centralized autocracy, forced suppression of opposition, belief in a natural social hierarchy and subordination of individual interests for the believed good of the nation or race according to Wikipedia. First let's go through the ways Blue Lock does match up with that.
Ego can be easily viewed as a dictator near the beginning of the manga
Most characters thrive on putting others down for their faults and strictly believe that there is some sort of natural order where people who lack "ego" are at the bottom
There is a sort of central autocracy with the top 6
Near the beginning especially, there is a violent snuffing out of any ideology that dares oppose egocentrism or the idea that you need to be a solid team to win a game
Now let's go through the ways Blue Lock denies and even goes against Fascism.
BLLK's main goal is to make a Japanese soccer team that can win a World Cup. In a more fascist manga, we would see racism ga-fucking-lore. We can see this in animes that have more right wing leaning undertones like Attack on Titan where when race is brought in it's for conflict. There's no possibility of harmony, only winners and losers. Those protected and those put down and punished.
And Blue Lock does have an extreme focus on who wins and who loses. It is not afraid to include racism against Japanese people like with Adam or portray black people in unsettling and kind of racist ways like Dada's original design. But these elements don't automatically spell fascism. Blue Lock is careful to portray characters of color as just that, characters. They don't exist to tell you about their lives of hardship and struggle and they don't exist to justify Ego's obessesion with creating a good Japanese team. As you read BLLK, you'll notice that the artist has taken care to get better at drawing different body types and facial structures. The character design isn't trying to sell some perfect ideal like fascism so famously does, it tells you a peak athlete doesn't have one distinct look. It tells you characters from other countries are just as if not more capable than the Blue Lock boys. Hell, even Sae's hatred of Japanese football is portrayed as less of a betrayal of country and pride and more of a cultural clash. The issue to be solved in Sae's character is the way he looks down on his brother, not how much he despises Japanese football teams' tactics. We know this because Ego himself rails against them too.
A fascist manga would paint Sae as a villain for even learning from and joining teams from other countries, lending them his talent instead of keeping it in his home country. But Blue Lock encourages diversification and collaberation with other nation's teams so heavily that it is literally an entire like 5 part arc right now. Ego isn't ultra nationalistic, he just wants to make a better soccer team for his country and he isn't afraid of praising and adopting from other countries in the process. The biggest win to come out of a Blue Lock team wouldn't be that they're all Japanese but that they all follow his ideology.
Speaking of his ideology, Ego is extremely harsh and controlling, yes, but he also believes in the boys. He lets them do what they believe is best. He pushes them to their limits, not because they disobey him, but because they dissapoint him. A true fascist dictator would rule with fear with no introductions of other ideologies, he would strike at any sign of weakness or opposition. At the beginning, he does do this. But as the manga goes on we see how much wiggle room he's willing to allow. He lets Isagi curse at him and question his leadership, he lets Shidou play even though he's clearly queer and extremely volatile, he doesn't punish any of the boys for injuring each other. In a fascist society, you are expected to fit an ideal or be othered, be perfect and work together with a sense of comradere because that's the only way to prove your claims that you are the best race/nation. There can be no imperfections or cracks in the facade...But Ego lets the boys be messy. He never forces them to change who they are, only forces them to believe that they can do great things all on their own. Even with Kunigami, Wild Card wasn't a correction of his disbelief in some nation or race, but instead a correction of how limited his mindset was. In fact, in a more fascist society, Kunigami's love of playing hero and protecting his teammates would be praised and celebrated. Ego putting individuality and aspiration over the good of the team as a whole is literally a middle finger to fascism.
The villain of the series is literally a greedy Japanese man that wants to commercialize the team and make them less individualized. I don't know how much more anti-fascist you could get-
Also, Blue Lock handles disability very carefully and very well. In more alt-right ideologies than not, something you'll see again and again is this idea that disabled people don't deserve the same rights because they can't contribute to society. Disabled people are a stain to be pushed away and hidden because they contradict the central idea of a "perfect" nation. In a fascist retelling of BLLK, Chigiri would be kicked from the program, not given power and influence. In a fascist retelling of BLLK, Kenyu would be attacked and beaten as soon as it was discovered that he made it into the top-six with failing eyesight. Any physical disadvantage could easily put an athlete at the bottom of the social hierarchy as well, Blue Lock could have very very easily made fun of its disabled characters for even trying. It could get away with mistreating these players and be defended for it so fucking quickly. But instead, it lets you root for them and gives them just as much care and weight as the others. It's trying to tell you that being a good player sometimes means knowing your limits and getting help, not punishing yourself because you have some biological disadvantage. It also takes care to demonstrate that no race is inherently worse at soccer than the other.
And, of course, the elephant in the room, Noa and Kaiser. Okay...if you see German characters and immediately think OMG NAZIS??OMG FASCISM?????OMGGGG HE HAS BLONDE HAIR???AND BLUE EYES?? That's a fucking you problem and you clearly aren't reading the manga. Even Noa Noel being an older man and still being allowed to play and looked up to as the best is an example of how Blue Lock goes against steriotypes about athletes. Kaiser does have blonde hair and blue eyes yes, but he also wears eyeliner and eyeshadow and has a tattoo and dyed hair... None of that would be allowed in an actually fascist Japanese manga unless it was as caricature to make fun of and dominate. But instead, Kaiser is an actual threat who has complex arcs and behaviors. Also, Kaiser isn't fascist himself, he clearly views Isagi as an equal even though they're different nationalities and he doesn't believe in any one authority or greater cause except for himself. Noa is very strict yes, and he does rank and rate the boys, but he specifically doesn't factor race into it. He also, just like Ego, allows other ideas and patterns to emerge even if they mess up his own plans for matches. He doesn't suppress anyone and is actually extremely lax. If you think he or BLLK is "fascist", look at actual real world sports teams and their strict practices or past statements about other nationalities.
Isagi as a protaganist is anti-fascist too!!!! He's a Japanese everyman who has good Japanese parents, no disabilities, an honest personality and believes in a future where Japan wins the World Cup. In a fascist story, he'd be fucking untouchable (ESPECIALLY against characters from other countries) and all of this would be paraded as proof that a Japanese soccer team is clearly superior and all-dominating. But no! He gets beat down, questioned, disrespected and constantly shown up by others. He's not special and he's extremely self-centered. He doesn't water his own beliefs down for the "good of the nation" or whatever the fuck and he grew up idolizing foreign players. Isagi never supresses other people's ideologies, he just makes fun of them if they fuck up. He's never xenophobic, even when other characters have moments that have xenophobic undertoens like Adam or Sae's comments. Isagi Yoichi's character could have a few traits flipped and be a poster boy for some alt-right manga about how superior Japanese people or hell, Ego's pupils are. But he doesn't. He's simply designed and he's rude and he looks down on people, but he also apologizes, humbly accepts when he can improve by questioning his own ideals and is open to talking with everyone he comes across.
Calling Blue Lock a "fascist soccer manga" is not only demonstrating that you have no idea what fascism is, but also disgustingly painting over all the beautiful themes and messages within the manga.

I like reading your opinions on videogames and I like horror games so I'm curious to know which horror games would you recommend?
If you've been following this blog for any length of time, it should not terribly surprise you that I'm more into the brainfucky existential horror side of the genre than the jump-scares-and-butcher-knives side of the genre. My horror library also has a tendency toward extreme body horror – basically, assume every title mentioned in this post carries a content warning for body horror unless otherwise noted. If neither of those are deal-breakers, I have a few suggestions:
Discover My Body – A short point-and-click visual novel that casts the player in the role of a medical student interviewing a volunteer test subject as their body is gradually consumed by a parasitic fungus. Minor audio-only jump scares at a couple of points as the subject screams or shouts.
Dreaming Sarah – A side-scrolling take on the Yume Nikki fan-game genre; i.e., you explore a series of dream worlds, aided by everyday objects which grant strange powers. One of the least explicitly horror-y entry on this list, though not without content warnings of its own: self-harm and suicidal ideation, in this case.
The Fall – A sort of pseudo-metroidvania that’s really more of a point and click adventure game in disguise. You play as a suit of powered armour’s onboard AI, tasked with getting your injured pilot to safety. Like a lot of psychological horror titles, this one’s secretly about interrogating gender roles, though not in the way you might expect.
OneShot – The gimmick here is that, as the Messiah, the protagonist is aware of, and can talk to, God; i.e., the player. Lots of meta puzzles that play with the nature of the medium. (e.g., adjusting the game window, messing with files on your hard drive, etc.) This one’s a pure psychological horror title with no violence or body horror to speak of.
Oxenfree – An investigative walking sim in which the player character and her companions become trapped in some sort of alternate dimension and/or time loop (it’s not initially clear) and have to figure out what’s going on in order to escape. Not so much body horror as this list’s other entries, but somewhat more jump scares.
Perfect Vermin – A short (and free) first-person puzzle game where the player's task is to identify alien creatures that are impersonating office furniture and beat them to death with a sledgehammer. The body horror in this one is of a very particular strand; if you've ever lost a relative to cancer, you may wish to steer clear!
Return of the Obra Dinn – A first-person logical deduction puzzler in which you take on the role of an insurance investigator exploring a merchant ship full of mutilated corpses, trying to figure out how each crew member died, aided by a magic stopwatch that lets you view brief snippets of the past.
Rusty Lake: Roots – Rusty Lake is a long-running series of Flash based point and click escape room puzzlers. Roots is one of the more approachable entry points; it’s gotten past the early-instalment jank, but isn’t yet so deep into the lore that it’s impossible to figure out what the hell is going on without consulting the fandom wiki.
Stray Cat Crossing – Picture one of those so-stylish-it-hurts indie JRPGs and subtract all the combat and you’ll have basically the right idea about this one. A couple of audio jump scares; additional content warnings for child injury and death, as well as one character that does the disability-as-body-horror thing. (Specifically, blindness.)
The Swapper – A physics puzzler where the player is given a cloning gun that lets them duplicate themselves and transfer (i.e., “swap”) their consciousness among the duplicates. The horror comes from a remarkably in-depth exploration of what the game’s mechanical gimmick implies about the nature of identity.
They Breathe – A short-form survival horror game (a typical playthrough takes about 15 minutes) where you play as a frog – like, not a mutant frog-person or anything, just a regular frog – exploring the depths of a flooded forest. In spite of the innocuous premise, probably one of the more fucked up titles on this list!
We Know the Devil – A choose-your-own-adventure style VN where three kids at a Christian summer camp are forced to participate in a bizarre ritual which will ostensibly culminate in them confronting, and defeating, the Devil. Additional content warnings for religious abuse of children and discussion of homophobic/transphobic violence.
I’m going to arbitrarily cap it at a dozen entries because I’d just keep going forever if I didn’t; however, if anything on this list particularly catches your eye, I may be able to offer more recommendations in a similar vein.

Shadow work concept suggestions:
Tumblr media
Why do you practice magic? Is your drive derived from your being? Is it superficial and aesthetic? Is it of curiosity or interest? Is it selfish? Is it to deal with oppression or injustice?
You are not immune to propaganda. What have you been influenced by, without necessarily noticing? How have your influences affected your interactions with, and views of, the world?
When you have had interactions with non-corporeal entities, how has your subconscious, mental illness, neurodivergency, state of mind, influences, and/or bias affected your interaction and interpretation there of?
When you have been hurt by another, what is the core influence for your initial reaction?
When you discipline yourself or talk down on yourself, who’s voice do you speak in?
When faced with cognitive dissonance or self-doubt, how often do you give in to the Dunning-Krueger Effect?
If/when you experience imposter syndrome, why are you the person that you are in that moment?
When confronted with new information, how do you react? What is the core of the reaction you have?
Write down your morals and personal philosophy as succinctly and accurately as you can. Do your daily actions and words reflect those values?
What emotion makes you feel like your magic is strongest? Why is that emotion potent enough to cause that?
In moments when you have wished harm unto others, how have you justified such desire and how does that same line reasoning affect the way you engage with the rest of your life?
In moments when you have felt or been othered by a group of people, what is your initial reactive emotional state?
Contemplate the concept of infinity. The vastness of reality, both structurally and conceptually and your place within them.
How much of your persona is rooted in intertextualism? How does this affect the way you bond or engage with others? Does it effect how you interact with different age groups in a negative way?
When you categorize things, places, concepts, and people what criteria do you use? How does sorting this way affect your engagement with these various categorizations?
If you were to describe yourself without using your name, occupation, physical qualities, species, or interests what would it look like?
Is there any other way that you could practice magic and have it feel right? If you can think of some, how many are rooted in aesthetic and consumerism?
How can you, in your daily life, strive to ensure the health, growth, happiness and development of those around you? Even those whom you do not know.
What is your initial reaction to ignorance? What is the core of that reaction? How do you react to willful ignorance?
Would you stand up for someone downtrodden, oppressed, or attacked? Even if those around you would not? Would you want to? How can you become the person who does?
What does community look and feel like to you? Does your current community match your idealization of it? Is it possible for you to have an effect on the community?
When faced with the concept of death and mortality, what is your initial reaction? Does that reaction carry over to confronting its actuality? What are the roots of both reactions?
Tumblr media
Remember, shadow work is not necessary for witchcraft. If doing shadow work is initially difficult for you to approach genuinely, I would recommend speaking to a licensed therapist. You can give your therapist talking points to explore with you in order to help you come to a better understanding. If you are struggling as a result of mental illness or you feel like you may be a danger to yourself or others, please reach out to someone to help you. There are programs that can help you, you may just need someone to look into it for you. Stay safe and stay grounded.
What other concept suggestions can you think of?
