#i wonder if she ever got to take her kids camping or to swim in the lake? she probably wasn’t allowed to take them to do such simple things

Imagine how free Alicent felt going out in nature alone though? Camping out in a simple tent, eating food that had been foraged or hunted, stripping down and going for a swim in the lake which is something she probably hasnt done since she was a child and there’s no city noise or duties for her to attend do she can just sit amongst the trees and be at peace with only the sounds of nature for company. She spent years locked in the castle forced to “perform her duty to her husband” nightly and produce heirs, raise her children with no support system, care for her husband as he got sicker and sicker and did her duty as queen consort and acting regent, sacrificing parts of herself to survive life at court but now she’s finally free.

spewing whatever shit pops into my head for all my fav tma characters
ALRIGHT babes a whole entire six people wanted to see my opinions on characters so far (i just finished #103), but i don't rlly have a direction to take with this. i was thinking about giving them ratings but idek what i'd rate them ON lmao. SO!
Jon-ohoho he's so DRY and so FUNNY and somebody needs to bitch slap this man. how am i supposed to get a goofy workplace drama if he's so genre-aware?? i don't like him THAT much, but honestly the whole show would be a lot more boring without his paranoia. also was his skin rlly so bad that it took an entire MONTH to get him thoroughly moisturized? ur body is a temple, johnny boy :(
Martin-omg he's such a bean. i relate to this man a lil too much for comfort-he's bullied waaay too much by absolutely everyone in this podcast. if he reads too many statements and turns into another jon or smth i'll SWIM to the uk specifically to yell at the writers, this man is to be PROTECTED at all costs! also he SOUNDS like a fucking redhead. you can hear it in his voice. and it shows very clearly in his poetry.
Tim-hehehe ICON. s1 finale tim was honestly the greatest thing ever, the way he's changed is absolutely breaking my heart. prancing into the office during a worm attack and immediately sitting down on 20 cans of CO2 sounds EXACTLY like smth i'd do, honestly props to him for staying so calm during the whole thing. and the fact that he's fucking all these cops for information is just *chef's kiss* tbh, his entire EXISTENCE is a power move. he's got a statement coming up and i'm kinda terrified. he's been so.. depressingly realistic lately and i'm scared for him :(
Sasha/Not Sasha-sasha seemed so sweet, i wish i'd gotten to know her better before the switch! all i remember from her first vocal appearance is staring into space afterwards, trying to remember how i used to pronounce 'calliope'. i feel like her death/switch didn't hold as much gravity as it should've-i rlly wish i'd seen more of her! also, the way not sasha was the LEAST suspicious to jon-that monster's got acting CHOPS. we need her in the local theater group, HOW TF can anyone be that convincing?!?!?!
Monster Pig-last statement i listened to, so it's VERY fresh in my mind lmao. this pig deserves DEATH. i don't fucking CARE if it's "friendly", it ATE a FUCKING CLOWN. KILL ITTTTT. i am a VEGETARIAN
Michael-by FAR my favorite, the best character i've come across in quite a while, god's favorite princess <3 i adore this wonky man, he's such a legend. PEAK laugh. and he's so chaotic lmao!!! (no he absolutely did not die, what are you talking about???? that didn't happen. or Michael Shelley's tragic backstory that had me literally crying over a gd podcast, no way. i'm in DEEP denial) i adore how his first vocal appearance was just strutting into Jon's office, kidnapping a realtor, monologuing abt his identity issues, stabbing the archivist, and sashaying away. SUCH a funky dude, i adore him
Elias-he gives me bitter oldest kid vibes, this man needs therapy. what a kooky asshat, stop peeping on people.
Jude-hot in every way possible. sorry but it's TRUE. a rlly bad liar tho. not only does she speak in fucking italics, but you can tell she's giggling kicking her feet twisting her short little hairs as she's trying to get jon to shake her hand. bitch, you're sexy and you know it, SPEAK UP!!
Wormy Jane-an icon, honestly. the whole EMBODIMENT of ick. not to mention if i actually saw this woman i'd lose my SHIT, she terrifies the bejeezus outta me. her statement was what made me (sorta) stop picking at my face (for a little bit at least). i honestly wonder what she was on that made her stick her whole fucking arm in a HAUNTED WASP'S NEST. it's also so hilarious that she was camped outside Martin's apartment for WEEKS and nobody rlly questioned it-this woman is on a MISSION. slay, ick queen.
Melanie-this woman has more balls than anyone else on this damn podcast (ahem, elias mostly). we stan a girlboss with a knife-the way she was just planning to JUMP him??? melanie's 100% RIPPED, she SOUNDS like a gym rat i think. i wanna see her beat the shit outta all these ghosts :3
You're A Lighter-idk how to spell his actual name and i'm too lazy to look it up, so this is what y'all're getting. the snotty old library dude with such a kooky voice, all i could think of when i first heard him was the Kool-Aid man lmaoo. and he needs to take better care of his assistants!! EXTREMELY unsustainable :( he's like a bowerbird collecting all the shiny homicidal books.
Helen-she ATE my babygirl??!!!!?!?!!?! COMPLETELY unacceptable. i won't deny the girl's got guts for just.. chilling in Michael's creepy hallways, but COUGH UP THE CREEPY BLOND for christ's sake.
Trevor Herbert-10/10 honestly. i LOVED his statements, the vampires are SO CRAZY CREEPY and i love how he just kinda fucks around? does some light stalking? and usually ends up with a bunch of dead monsters! in essence, he looked an eldritch horror in the face, called it a slur, and whacked it with a stick. legend.

REMINDER: I asked for one word prompts to trigger a fan fiction one shot. This one triggered a doozy.
==============
Seventeen year old Kai Bradford walks up to the podium and takes the microphone from his Aunt Angela and breathes deeply to calm himself. He is really nervous talking in front of all these people. But he knew this was excellent practice for his valedictorian speech in a few weeks.
He found and made eye-contact with his mom, who nodded, smiled and gave him two thumbs up and whispered - “you’ve got this.”
Tim turned to Lucy and asked, “Did you know about this? About what he’s going to say?”
Tim and Kai have not been on the best of terms lately. They seem to be having the same fight over and over about Kai’s future, his girlfriend, his clothes, the weather, you name it, they argue about it. So the fact his eldest son is now standing in front of his peers to speak is quite a bit unnerving and overwhelming for Tim.. Tim has no idea what his son will say. Lucy looks back at him and smiles. “I knew he wanted to speak - but no, honey, I don’t know what he’s going to say.” She leans into Tim and kisses him.
Tim grabs her hand and watches their son take a deep breath to calm his nerves.
Their first born - the boy who almost died when Lucy was shot.
Who spent hours on Tim’s bare chest as his lungs and heart grew strong; who listened to Tim talk about his mom and how much he loved her and needed both of them to live; Who said “dada” and walked way ahead of schedule; the kid who followed Tim everywhere and asked him a gazillion questions; the one who used to look at him with awe and wonder; the natural athlete who swims, and surfs, and catches anything thrown in his general direction, who brings his mom flowers just because they remind him of her; the one whose love of the ocean forced Tim to get over his aversion to it; the one who brought home creatures and plopped them on the dining room table with cheers of victory and squeals of “science!”; the one who is just like his mom, full of kindness, brilliance, humor and sunshine; who stands up for the little guy and treats everyone the same; the one who will wave and say hi to his mom on national tv when he catches the winning touchdown during a future bowl game despite the thousands of hours of drills run with his dad. The human he loves almost as much as Lucy. Tim loves this boy-almost-man more than life itself.
Kai turns to the audience and nods when he says, “Hi everyone. I’m Kai. Thank you for coming tonight to my parents’ 20th Anniversary Party. I’m here to speak for the kids - me, Diana and TJ. Besides being the oldest and most eloquent, everyone knows I’m the favorite - mom’s little sunshine miracle boy.”
He blushes and rolls his eyes - as the audience laughs and nods in agreement.
Because Kai was the first born, they had all seen videos and pictures and heard stories of everything he has ever done. The soccer games, the school plays, the boys playing in the dirt, the backyard camping adventures, the wonder and annoyance at his little siblings, the failed clarinet career, the gifted athlete, the wickedly smart and clever kid, etc.
Lucy has a large orange and green fire breathing dragon on her office wall - drawn by Kai in 7th grade art class. Tim had it framed for her office shortly thereafter.
Everyone at the party has watched him grow up and turn into the charming, smart and handsome young man before them.
At 17, he now is just an inch shorter than his dad, strong, athletic, with dark wavy hair, a golden honey complexion and stormy blue-gray eyes.
But there was a time when he lived in a NICU incubator for several months, weighing under 5 pounds, while his mom recovered from two bullet wounds and his dad tried not to sink into a pit of despair.
“I love my mom so much - she’s my best friend, my biggest cheerleader, my closest confidant, my favorite person.” Kai waves at Lucy who smiles and waves back.
“But my dad? My dad is my hero.”
And just like that - all noise in the ballroom stopped - you could hear a pin drop. Tim’s breath catches in his throat and a single tear falls down his face. Lucy smiles at Kai and squeezes Tim’s hand.
“What do I mean by that? Good question. Wikipedia defines a hero as a person who, in the face of danger, combats adversity through feats of ingenuity, courage, or strength.”
That’s my dad. I know him as my stay-at-home protector, but I’ve heard stories from all of you, all of my life about the danger he faced day after day as a cop; how he came up with creative solutions to immediate problems - like the drilling of a hole in a car floorboard to spray pepper spray into a car to stop a carjacking or making a donut place the main lunch stop for cops so the gangs avoid it or digging through the dirt with his bare hands to dig up the barrel holding my mom as she died waiting for someone to find her.
None of my siblings or I would even be here, if my dad had given up on finding her. Well that and you know, them admitting they were crazy about each other and all the sex - no no no - Aunt Angela, I cannot say that - gross”… the audience including his parents start laughing loudly.
“Where was I? Oh right… My parents could not be more different - she’s sunshine and he’s grumpy. We kids know how to be exemplary humans because they showed us how.
My dad as a man is who I hope to be when I grow up. I measure myself against who he is in the world. He’s not perfect - just ask my mom about his “sock problem” - but he is my role model for how to treat people and how to exist in the world.
When I was 6 years old and getting ready for my first day of school, he sat me down on the bench by the door and tied my shoes and said the same thing to me he says every year - his yearly “Tim Talk” as mom calls it:
“You look your classmates in the eye, Kai. You speak to them with respect and honesty and kindness. I don’t care if they did you wrong, or if you are having a bad day. You always treat everyone you come in contact with as if they are special to you, as if it’s the best part of your day. You smile at your teachers, your classmates, the janitor. You laugh at bad jokes. You congratulate people on their accomplishments. You become friends with everyone and learn about them. What makes them excited and scared? What are their favorite things? Who are their favorite people? You be the one everyone smiles about when they remember. okay?”
All three of us live and die by this advice every day. We are all well liked by our classmates, teachers, coaches, parents neighbors and friends. Our parents - mom by telling and dad by showing - gave us the foundation upon which we stand and live.
My mom taught us how to love big, my dad taught us to love small.
My mom taught us to hold tight, my dad taught us to leave space.
My mom taught us to be confident, my dad taught us to be humble.
My mom taught us to grateful, my dad taught us to be of service.
My mom taught us to be loud, my dad taught us the value of silence
My mom gave us a love of nature, my dad gave us a love of sports.
My mom believes in second chances, my dad prefers to measure twice and cut once.
My mom taught us about forgiveness, my dad taught us about loyalty.
My mom taught us to be strong, my dad showed us how to be vulnerable.
Dad sends flowers to his ex-wife on her birthday every year. He loved her a long time before mom came along and while it wasn’t always pretty, he thanks her for loving him and letting him go.
He and Kojo and then later Jack and Diane (Di’s chinchillas) never missed a tea party with Diana and her real or imaginary friends.
Dad dances with mom in the kitchen when her favorite song comes on the radio.
He came to every recital and game, chaperoned every field trip and dance.
He knows all of our secrets and gives the very best advice. We don’t always follow it, mind you, but he gives it freely whenever we ask.
Most importantly, he showed us that he loves our mom. They’ve given us three kids infinite lessons on how to love and be in a loving relationship. We are so lucky and blessed to have these amazing creatures as our parents.
So everyone, please raise your glasses, bottles, and cans and let’s celebrate our parents - Lucy & Tim Bradford.
Thank you.
While everyone is cheering and clapping, Tim stands up and walks over to his son and grabs him in a big hug and and just holds onto him tightly while smiling the biggest smile and with tears streaming down his face. “I love you too Kai, I love you too.”

Daughter of the Sea
Chapter Twelve: We (Try to) Capture a Flag (Read on Ao3 here)
The rest of the summer passed more normally, which felt strange after the battle. There were fireworks on the Fourth of July, and they were unlike anything I had ever seen. The sky was filled with moving pictures in every color imaginable, with the whole camp sitting on the beach watching in awe. It was the first time I felt any sense of joy creep back into the campers, and it was nice to hear people laugh and sing again. There were still too-noticeable empty places on picnic blankets, and sometimes you couldn't avoid bringing up a story about someone who wasn't there anymore, but for the most part, it was a beautiful time. I sat with Cadence and Will, as well as some of their friends, including a daughter of Aphrodite named Rosaline who I had heard a lot about but never met.
The rest of the days were filled with training, classes, and lots of swimming with Percy. He was able to begin to teach me how to use and control my abilities, and I began to progress a lot faster with him than I had with Chiron. Percy also helped me with my fighting skills, since everyone said he was the best swordsman at Camp.
And they weren't kidding.
But even if I was getting soaked by my own tidal waves, or being slammed to the ground again and again, training with Percy was my favorite part of any day. He could always make me laugh and turn around any bad mood I was in. I felt like I had known him all my life—like even though we just met, our souls had been connected much longer.
We were practically inseparable for the rest of the summer.
The only downside to that meant I didn’t get to know Annabeth very well, since she and Percy seemed to avoid each other after their quest. I never asked him about it, and he never brought it up. It's the one topic I was too scared to breech.
I finally got to talk to her during our last capture the flag game. Percy and I were on the same team as the Athena cabin, of course, and Percy was off trying to find the other team’s flag. For once Annabeth had decided to guard the flag, and she assigned me as her partner. We stood in silence for a while, both of us on high alert. I didn't know if she wanted me to talk, or if we should be silent so as to not give away our position. About fifteen minutes into the game, she finally spoke.
“You’ve got pretty good skills for someone who just showed up here.” I looked at her confused, not sure if that was a compliment or a dig.
“Umm, thanks. Percy’s been doing a good job teaching me.”
Annabeth winced slightly at Percy’s name, and continued scanning the trees. “He’s a good teacher.” We were quiet for a while before she spoke again.
“Lisen, I wanted to talk about Percy, actually.” I looked over to the blonde girl, and she continued. “You haven't known him for very long, but I need to warn you: he's the most loyal person you’ll ever meet.”
I thought I had misheard her at first. “Why do you have to warn me about that?”
Her eyes darkened. “Loyalty can be a dangerous thing, Angie. It can be good, of course, but if you put that loyalty above anything else…that's a liability.”
I thought about that, and could see what she meant. I wondered if I had that same tendency.
“Thanks for the warning.” I tried to make my voice as genuine as possible. I was about to ask about how they had met, and all the adventures they had, when two shapes came crashing through the thicket of bushes Annabeth had hidden the blue flag around.
“Well well well,” Connor Stoll said as he grinned,
“If it isn't the Pride of Athena herself.” Travis Stoll finished.
“Too scared to take the flag on your own, boys?” Annabeth taunted back.
Connor laughed as he gripped his sword, trying to figure out when to strike. “We work better as a pair.” Travis was inching his way around the thicket, trying to go for the flank. I kept my eye on him as Annabeth talked to Connor. I had trained with the brothers when Quintus disappeared and I knew their style—but that meant they knew mine, too. But I had been working with Percy for the past few weeks, and his style was completely different. I was ready to use that against them.
“Impressed you found our spot.” I said to Travis. He stopped moving and looked at me.
“Don’t be so surprised. Children of Hermes are very good at finding things that are hidden.”
“Let's see if being the son of the god of thieves can help you take it, then.”
Travis grinned wickedly, and a second later, Connor ran forward and engaged with Annabeth. At the same time, Travis broke left and tried to swipe the flag, but I was too quick. I swiped with my sword and he pulled back just in time to avoid losing his hand.
“Nice work, Jackson! You’ve gotten quicker.” He pulled out his sword and we began fighting, him trying to back me up towards the flag and me trying to push him away. We both gained and lost ground, and I was wondering how Annabeth was doing but I didn't dare to look over. Travis was getting closer to the flag, and I had gotten my fair share of scrapes, when I heard Annabeth curse in Greek.
“No! Angie, get him!” Travis saw it moments before I did, and he took off after his brother. I sprinted after them, trying to swipe at their ankles but my sword didn’t have the reach. They were getting closer to the boundary, and I was running as hard as I could but it wasn't enough. Annabeth was next to me, barely at my heels, when I heard something whiz through the air.
I watched as Travis hit the ground, the flag falling with him. Connor kept running for a few seconds before realizing his brother wasn’t behind him, but by the time he had doubled back I already had the flag in my hand, and Annabeth was in front of me. I looked to where the arrow had come from to see Cady and Will, and a couple of their siblings, crouching in the bushes, smiling. Travis was beginning to get up, but was clearly dazed from the soft arrow that had hit his helmet. Now that the brothers knew there were archers nearby, they were more cautious, but not deterred. Connor spun his sword, trying to figure out how to attack Annabeth and get the flag from me, my weapon still drawn.
I could see him working out a plan when someone ran across the creek, which was the boundary line, pursued by a group of about fifteen campers, all yelling and jeering at him.
It didn't matter though, and a smile filled my face as I watched Percy cross the water, the red flag in his hands.
He didn’t stop running until he was next to Annabeth and I.
“Looks like I have to do everything around here.” He was grinning, and even Annabeth couldn't stop her smile.
“Nice work, Seaweed Brain. But it would've been for nothing if Angie and I hadn't stopped the Twins.”
I laughed—we all knew they weren’t actually twins, but we called them that, anyways.
Percy shrugged. “Teamwork, right?”
The rest of our team were surrounding us now, cheering and smiling and lifting the three of us on their shoulders. I was surprised to be included, and thought that just Percy would get the accolades. But it seemed that more people than I thought had seen Annabeth and I chase the Stoll brothers and get back the flag, and it felt surreal to be praised so much.
The first time the whole camp had acknowledged me they had stared in silence, clearly not happy I was there. Now, they were cheering. They carried us to the clearing out of the woods, where Chiron awarded us with laurel wreaths and no cleaning duties for the next week. Even the campers from the other team congratulated us, except for the Ares kids, who looked like they wanted to have a rematch right then and there. I took that as a compliment.
That night at dinner, Percy and I swapped stories about our time in the game, and he was impressed I could hold my own against the Stoll brothers.
“They’re really good with swords, it took me until the end of my second summer to beat one of them.”
I smiled at him, “I had a good teacher.”
That night at the campfire I sat next to Annabeth, who seemed to be starting to warm up to me after our game of capture the flag. We laughed and danced like idiots and sang too loud, and it was like seeing a whole different side of her. I was used to the intense, calculating, and stoic girl who had everything under control, so it was nice to see her cut loose. As I watched her do the motions to a version of the hokey-pokey using Greek weapons, I got the feeling that we could be really good friends.
I just hoped my brother wouldn't mess it up for me.

Frownie face stickers • Conrad fisher
Warnings: Smut (this is my first ever time writing smut so pls bare with also pls leave a comment or anything so Ik If this is any good if really appreciated it) MDI
Summery: y/n and Conrad have a running joke of her giving him well done stickers after they hooked up but for the first time ever she gives him a frownie face stickers
Tumblr media
Conrad hand wrapped around y/n’s neck while her jaw was slacked open the room was filled with nothing but the sound of skin slapping against each other along with both of their moans “gonna…fuck.” She moans hardly able to get her words out
“gonna cum pretty girl?” He said lifting her leg to his shoulder to get a better position. She nodded unable to form any coherent words “oh come on Doll, use your words.” He said never straying away from the relentless pace
“please.” She just about manage to say as his hand left her neck moving to rub circles on her clit with his fingers.
“Cum for me pretty girl.”
before she could warn him, the knot in her stomach unravels, she’s cumming with a strangled moan. before long Conrad rapid movements turn into ragged strokes as he spills inside her, throbbing as he does. She came down from her orgasm and stared up at him through half lidded eyes as he pulled out “such a good girl.” He mumbled as they both laid out of breath for a few minutes.
Conrad grabbed his shirt and underwear making his way into the bathroom before returning with a wet rag to clean her up after she pulled shirt and shorts y/n reached into the draw next to her before turning back to Conrad “What?” He asked looking at the smile on her face
“close your eyes.” She said and he raised his eyebrows but doing as she said anyway he felt her pat his shirt
“okay you can open them now.” She said giggling as he looked down at the small sticker of penguin holding a cake saying “good job.”
“You’re so stupid.” He said laughing along with y/n before taking the sticker off and putting it on the back of his phone
“what can I say… you did a good job.” Y/n said though laughs
“oh yeah a good job?” He asked leaning over her slightly
“I might even go as far as to say a great job.” She laughed as he leaned down kissing her softly “definitely a great job.” Y/n said as he pulled away
“where did you even get them from?” He asked wrapping his arms around her waist
“I got them for kids at summer camp but I completely forgot to take them in so they’ve been collecting dust in the drawer found them earlier when I was looking for my headphone.” She told him Making him laugh once again
“so I’m getting the same reward as your students now huh?” He teased as she nodded
And from then on Conrads sticker collection on the back of his phone only grew more until he thought it was be a wonderful idea to piss y/n off so while he was sat around the pool with Jeremiah and Steven while Belly and Taylor swam y/n stomped her way over to him
“you still mad at me?” He asked and y/n just nodded before leaning down sticking an frownie face sticker on his shirt and stomping back into the house “HEY… take that back!” He yelled after her but she just carried on walking
“What the hells that sticker about?” Steven asked as Jeremiah laughed knowing exactly what had happened due to y/n’s drunken confession the night before the others arrived
“y/n and Conrad have this thing that started out as a joke Everytime they hooked up y/n would give him at sticker saying good job or some bull shit hence the stickers on the back of his phone. And what I’m guessing is either they had shitty sex last night or he’s pissed her off, Am I right Connie?”
“Shush it jere.”
Conrad quickly rushed into the house while the others giggled and Taylor spouted how adorable it was. He found her in this room wearing just his shirt over his favourite bikini of hers it as black with little pink hearts on it “I’m going for a swim.” She said brushing past him but he caught her arm just in time
“Sit.”
Just that one syllable had her like putty in his hands “now you gonna quit pouting?” He asked sternly as she sat on the edge of his bed while he towered over her but y/n was a brat so of course he wasn’t going to get his way. She shook her head looking up at him through her eyelashes
“I’m gonna ask you one more time Doll and I suggest you think about your answer a little more… are you gonna quit pouting?” His hand came to her chin titling her head up to force her to look at him
“No!”
Conrad sighed turning on his heels and closing the door being sure to lock it before walking back over to her “why do you have to make things so difficult?” He asked him a soft humm at the end of his sentence. Y/n had nothing to say she was just trying to push his buttons as he had done hers earlier “what’s wrong doll you’re always so mouthy why not this time?”
She rolled her eyes “because you’re an ass!” She said standing up and cocked his head to the side
“Oh is that so?” Y/n just nodded making her way to the door but Conrad caught her arm pulling her back and smashing his lips into hers. The kiss was desperate. He kissed her like it would be his last. Like it was the only thing keeping him going. Her arms wrapped around his neck and her hands tangled into his hair while his hands were on her waist pulling her impossibly close. She’d hardly noticed that he’d backed her onto the bed behind them.
“You gonna stop being such a brat?” He mumbled into the kiss but she’s couldn’t say a world. She didn’t need to. He already knew his answer.
Conrad’s hands sliding under her shirt she shivered from the coldness suddenly on her skin “can I?” He asked y/n nodded letting him take her shirt off. It made her smile the way he was still so polite. Even after all this time. He still asked like it was the first time. Like he didn’t know she’d let him do whatever he wanted to her.
Conrad re-connected there lips his hands reached down to untie her bikini bottomed as his lips trailed down to her neck she let out a soft wine as he found her sweet spot. “Up.” He mumbled into her neck telling her lift her ass up so he could pull them down and discarding them somewhere in her room before moving to her shirt as he continued sucking marks on her neck.
Y/n grabbed the bottom of his shirt attempting to pull it off only to let out a whine when she couldn’t get it off “take it off.”
Conrad moved away from her neck “say please.” He teased
“please… it’s not fair I’m underneath you in nothing you’re still fully clothed.” She said he laughed before pushing himself up off her before getting rid of any clothes left on him.
“Better?” She nodded before he moved back in between her legs. He left a trail of open mouthed kisses down her chest to right were she needed him the most before pressing a kissed against
“Connie.” She purred his name as he blew hot air over her swollen clit before diving in. his tongue traced her folds before he lapped at her clit. Y/n back arched off the bed, electricity bolting through her nerves. Her hands flew to tug at his hair as he lapped at her clit feverishly so Desperate to taste her. He caught her off guard slipping a digit into her, groaned into her when your legs locked around his head, securing him in place. Not that he needed it. He’d stay here forever if she’d let him.
“Please Connie.” She moaned his fingers pumped in and out of her while his tongue made work on her clit. her thighs tremble and eyes roll back into her head. One hand grip the sheets her knuckles white, while the other tugged at his locks. The pressure in her abdomen built but so does something else, something deeper at the same time. Conrad took note pulling away “you taste just Devine doll but I’m not sure you deserve to cum today.” He said as she whimpered at the loss of contact.
She watched as he stripped himself of his underwear “Darling you’re so pretty it hurts.” He said leaning down it kiss her again “are you sure you wanna?” He asked y/n nodded if she wasn’t so worked up she’d of told him how cute it was that he was still taking care of her “need words Doll.” She groaned growing impatient
“yes I’m sure.” Conrad leaned down to kiss her once more before he lined himself up with her entrance before he sank into her both of them gasping at the feeling.
“fuck, you feel so good,” he moaned. She was appreciative of his slow thrusts her constant wines were evident of that. Conrad brought his hand to her mouth shoving two of his fingers into her mouth
“As much as I love hearing my name from that pretty little mouth or yours you gotta keep quite or everyone is gonna hear.” He said stifling a moan himself she nodded her legs wrapping around his waist pulling him closer as his hips rocked back and forth “Fuck y/n.” He groaned in her ear as she clenched around him. His free hand moving from her mouth and wrapping around her throat squeezing slightly as his hips moved faster
“Fuck Connie… I’m close.” She managed biting her lips to stop herself from screaming out “You're close, huh Doll? You gonna cum all over my cock like the good girl you are?" Each one of his words brings her closer and closer to the edge, and all it takes is his thumb massaging against her clit to push her over. Everything goes tight. She cry out a high-pitched moan, whispering Conrad’s name over and over because it's the only word She can manage to say. She clench hard around his cock, but his pace never slows which makes the pleasure almost painful. Her thighs are trembling where they're wrapped around his torso and her hands curl into the sheets.
“God you look so pretty like that.” His thrusts start to grow uneven and His breaths become sharp as he snaps his hips against hers until finally he releases a strained moan from low in his throat and stills inside her, spilling his cum into her. His head drops to the crook of her neck momentarily pressing light kisses over the marks he’d previously left. He pulled out of her rolling onto his back next to her.
“Maybe I need to piss you off more.”

Summertime Sadness - Chapter 6
Tumblr media
Aubrey and Jack hotchner come home for the summer after living in California with their mom for the school year. How will they deal with the trauma in California and living with their fathers new girlfriend.
Content Pairings: Hotchner Famiy x BAU!Reader (ft; the team and others) POV: switches a lot.  some Henry and Aubrey content for ya.
Chapter Warnings: more angst, teenage love yay, sex mention, yelling, crying duh
wc; 1.4k
A/N: here's chapter six, hope you’re enjoying. im so sorry for posting late, I had so many different ways I wanted to take it and my laptop was broken but im back now :0
Aubrey ran down to the kitchen for a popsicle and water. While her a cup was filing she noticed a post card from California with the address being her moms house.
She turned it over to see her moms hand waiting
Hello Aaron, this is Haley, of course we’ll be able to come out we both really miss the kids! I’m so happy for him I know retirement was coming soon. Calvin snd I will be there next week.
 No…no, no, no!
Rossis’ retirement dinner, of course he wants them to come everybody loves Rossi.
She grabbed the water and popsicle, and headed to her room. She sat the popsicle to melt and the water next to her desk, Jack was sound asleep in her bed.
She pulled out her phone and texted Henry,
A: HJ, you up?
H: yeah, you good?
A: can I come over?
H: yeah windows open
Aubrey got dressed in leggings and a hoodie and a pair of house shoes she wore outside. She arrived at Henrys’ house, it was a ranch with a huge backyaard and the tallest ceiling Bre has ever seen. She walked over to Henry window and knocked, he opened it, “pull me you” she said doing grabby hands.
Henry pulled her up swiftly after a few tries and running start up the side of the house.
“You’re dad is probably going to kill you” Henry added after pulling her up,
“You’re mom is gonna kill you! You snuck a girl in.”
“Yeah but it’s you” he laughed, closing the window then looking at her with his bright blue eyes.
Aubrey walked around his room, he had lots over random drawings and stickers on his wall, of course posters of scary movies which they obsess over together.
“You kept the list up there” she said looking above at the only writing that’s on his wall.
“Uh yeah why wouldn’t I?” He asked in an almost serious tone, wondering why she thought he’d delete it.
The first summer after Calvin started abusing Aubrey she spent a lot of time with the Jareaus, it was her safe place. Her dad was constantly working and Jack was always at summer camp for basketball. Henry and Aubrey had grown up together and became best friends by default. Henry noticed the change in Aubrey and encouged her to make a list of things to try to feel better.
It wasn’t much but it was something, he hated to see her hurting even though she never opened up about what was hurting her.
Go swimming/ take bath and pretend it’s a pool
Scream into a pillow
Eat melted popcisles
Spend time with Henry
The list was fresh like he had just wrote it again, Henry came home the night of the dinner to rewrite-it knowing she was going to need it.
“I kept it in case you needed it”
She ran to hug him and he immediately hugged her back he felt light shakes and his shirt began to get wet. He didn’t say anything he just squeezed her tighter letting her know he’s there for her.
Henry was older than Aubrey by a few months, even though they were basically the same age. He just turned 17 and Aubrey isn’t to far behind. With her being the only girl and their parents being FBI agents they made sure to protect her. Even though Aubrey hated being smothered by Jack and Henry.
After slowly pulling away they both looked into each other eyes, it was comfortable, but they were both too shy to make a move. Henry finally broke the stare down, “Are you okay? Do I need to get my mom?” He said walking to his bed to sit down Aubrey plopping down beside him.
“Just got some bad news.” she picked at the sleeve of her hoodie,
“What happened? Are you alright?”
“Yeah, my mom and her stupid boyfriend coming to town for Rossis retirement party.”
“I take it you don’t like him?”
“Trust me it’s more than dislike, I just hate him for my own reasons”
“I’ll be there if you need to escape from him. You can always stay with me.” He looked her up and down and smiled. Aubrey figured you only live once so why not, she went in connecting her lips to his pulling in deeper when Henry didn’t push back. They two disconnected looking each other in the eye and smiling.
“Thanks Henry, you’re really sweet.” She snuggled into his side how she always has since they were young. They both smiled to themselves knowing they just shared their first kiss with each other. They both mistakenly fell asleep completely forgetting that Aubrey had to go back in a few hours.
Hours passed and they were both awoken by your voice, that was coming downstairs. Apparently Hotch had the Garcia tracking her phone and the team out looking for Bre.
“I’m not upset with her but her dad on the other hand.” You said to JJ causing both the women to laugh. This is bad Bre thought to herself while listening from Henry’s room.
“Why did you let me fall asleep?” She hit Henry in the chest as she quietly shut his room door.
“I didn’t think your dad would send out a search party when you’re literally here safe next to me.” he smiled,
“It’s not funny and he doesn’t know that” she said trying to appear serious frantically putting her shoes on. Both Aubrey and Henry creeped down the stairs just as Aaron was walking in.
Henry stepped on a creek causing everyone heads to snap towards them. You all looked at them with relief and amusement seeing the two teenagers.
“I’m so so sorry guys I completely forgot to tell you I was coming over here—-“
“We were worried SICK and you were over here with HENRY in his BED” Aaron said loudly, he was relieved to see her but so upset with her.
“Dad I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you and it’s not like that I swear!” Aubrey begged looking at her dad
“Are you two having sex? Because your father and I taught you to NOT sneak people into the house especially girls.” JJ turned to Henry, causing him to blush, Aubrey picking up on it and smirking.
“What? Ew. No mom I would never, we just talked all night I swear.” Henry pleased with his mother, he was never a troubled boy but he was still a teenager.
“We aren’t doing that and I just needed to talk to him we figured it wouldn’t be a big deal cause I was safe.” Aubrey looked at her dad, you and JJ.
“We just want you to tell us where you are especially if you aren’t coming home till the next day.” you said pulling Aubrey into your side and the girl returning it.
“Go to the car now.” Aaron said in a stern voice giving Henry the look, silently cursing him through his eyes, even though he loved him. “You, room, now.” JJ ordered Henry trying to be serious. “Bye, Henry” she waved sadly, he mouthed text me later causing Bre to smile. When the teens were out of sight you and JJ busted out in laughter.
“They are 100% going to get married on day.” you said teasing Aaron.
“Without a doubt, you know Bre use to call herself Ms.LaMongTang, she could never pronounce it right” Aaron laughed causing the two women to laugh. You said your goodbyes as you and Aaron walked out the door heading to the car.
The threesome arrived back at home getting ready for the rest of their day. Aaron headed upstairs to shower with Aubrey following behind until you stopped her.
“Bre?” You called causing the teenager to turn around,”yeah?” She said sweetly, “Is the reason you left last night because of this?”
You held up the post card from California, and her bottom lip began to tremble. She looked up the stairs to make sure her dad wasn’t in sight before she ran into your arms.
“Please don’t let him near me” she whispered in your ear, quietly crying. You rubbed her back giving her all the comfort you could.
“I think it’s time to tell your dad Aubrey” you encouraged her knowing this was the only way. Aaron had his suspicions of something when you and Aubrey became suspiciously close. He asked you multiple times if something was going on and you just chalked it up to girl problems.
“I’ll be right there with you Bre, but he has to know.”
“I don’t want him to see me … differently”
Your heart broke, “Your father loves you more than anything, he will always see you as his little girl.”
You hated that she was treating herself like thia. Like it was her fault this happened to her. Seeing Aubrey as a victim has been the harder at thing you’ve dealt with. You’ve worked with victims before but when it’s someone you live the pain is different.
“In a few days? I just need time to prepare.” She asked through her sniffles.
“Whenever you’re ready, this is your story” you encouraged her and she nodded with a smile similar to her fathers.
“Thank you so much Y/N” she said hugging you once lord then heading up the stairs. You broke down once the girl disappeared. You had been dealing with this alone since Bre told you. It was a lot and every time you seen her you wished you could take it all away.

“i’ll keep you warm” eddie has a nightmare post-shooting 👀 (or however you wanna write it!)
This was not supposed to be this long...rated M-ish for some mild smut at the end. On ao3 here.
The thing Eddie remembers most about the shooting isn’t the shot itself, or the pain, or even the fear—it’s the cold. The icy numbness of shock curling down his spine, twisting through his veins like tendrils of frost creeping across a windowpane in winter. Cold, as his pulse skyrocketed, his body’s signals all crossed and confused and trying to circulate blood, not seeming to grasp the fact that his blood was seeping out onto the asphalt beneath him, that trying to circulate it faster was just making it worse. Cold, like he was a stupid kid at camp diving into a frigid lake before dawn, except above him was blue sky and a bright sun beating down and the fact that it was Los Angeles in May didn’t do a damn thing to help.
He couldn’t feel it. He could only feel the cold.
Buck, though—Buck, he felt. Buck’s hands burned, on his chest, his neck, his face, so warm that Eddie almost wanted to flinch away, but he didn’t. He was aware enough to realize that if Buck was warm, he was probably telling the truth when he said he wasn’t hurt. And that was good. That was all he needed to know.
The cold—
Eddie’s been through enough in his life to know that his subconscious works in weird ways. After Afghanistan he dreamed more directly of burning helicopters and gunfire, blood in his mouth and smoke on his tongue. Shadows and screams and guilt. After the well his dreams were of Christopher, Shannon, waves crashing on a beach. And Buck. Sunlight.
This time...this time Eddie dreams of drowning. Trapped beneath ice, his hands slamming against it, eventually forced to inhale—water flooding his mouth, his throat, his lungs—cold, cold, cold—
Sometimes after he wakes he’ll spend hours shivering. Phantom chills that won’t go away even when he wraps himself in blankets.
The therapist he’s mandated to see before he can be cleared for work tells him that the brain doesn’t always process trauma by taking the most direct path. Eddie doesn’t know why his has fixated on this. The cold. Maybe it’s just easiest. Because the shooting—
His chest gets tight when he’s walking in open air. Sweat breaks out across his brow when the sunlight glints off of windows. His pulse races.
He can’t breathe.
It feels a little like drowning.
“Do you feel safe?” Dr. Kingston asks one session. And Eddie thinks about freezing in a grocery store parking lot, gripping the edge of a cart to keep his hands from shaking, thinks about Buck curving a hand around his shoulder, solid and warm—
“Sometimes,” Eddie admits. “It depends.”
“Depends on what?”
He tastes the lie on his tongue before it slips out.
“I don’t know.”
*
When the world shut down and Eddie had to leave Christopher with his abuela so that he could keep working without worrying constantly that he was putting his son at risk, Buck’s was the obvious place to go. And Eddie doesn’t know if things would have been different if it had been just the two of them but Hen and Chim deciding it was also the obvious place for them to go meant there weren’t a lot of options for sleeping arrangements.
So Eddie shared the bed with Buck. And it didn’t matter if either of them wound up wrapped around the other, the lines of their bodies pressed close enough to bleed together. If they curled into one another like plants twisting to find the light.
It was...instinct. To seek comfort. Warmth. Touch. Both of them alone for so long, and just needing—
Needing.
They never talked about it—there wasn’t anything to talk about. If it made Eddie’s heart race, if it made him ache for something he hadn’t expected and didn’t wholly understand, if when he returned home alone again his own bed felt too empty, that was his own problem.
Now, though—
Now, he knows. Because he stood frozen on the street and stared at Buck with Carla’s words in his head—make sure you’re following your heart—and realized oh. It hadn’t just been convenience, it had been love. Need and desire and love.
Now, he knows, but doesn’t know what to do with that knowledge, with the awareness he has suddenly. Buck is living in his house, in his space, helping him with Christopher and with his own recovery, making sure he takes his meds and gets to his appointments and does his exercises. Buck is there all the time and it’s a blessing and a curse because Eddie burns whenever Buck touches him.
And Buck touches him. A lot.
He hadn’t at first, right after Eddie came home from the hospital—Eddie would catch him sometimes looking like he wanted to, but holding back, reaching out but stopping himself, and Eddie never asked why. Even now he doesn’t think he ever needed to—he knows what it’s like to be afraid, to be unsteady, adrift, worrying that touching something you expect to be solid will reveal it’s just an illusion. Not wanting to find out if it is.
But Buck touches him now. And sometimes Eddie will wake up to find that Buck’s migrated from the couch in the living room to a chair by his bed, folded in and fitfully asleep. Buck never says, but Eddie’s pretty sure it’s so Buck can reassure himself that Eddie’s still breathing.
Eddie understands that need too. Sometimes he isn’t sure himself.
The first time it happens after Buck’s relationship with Taylor has flamed out—for himself, he and Ana have been over since just after he left the hospital—Eddie finally just gets up.
“Buck.” He curves a hand around the side of Buck’s neck and passes his thumb along the edge of his jaw.
Buck startles awake, looking somehow guilty.
“I didn’t wake you up, did I? Sorry, I know it’s—I can go back to the—”
“Will you just come to bed?” Eddie interrupts before Buck successfully talks himself into leaving the room. “Please?”
Buck’s eyes flick down to his shoulder. He swallows hard.
“I don’t want to—”
Oh.
“You won’t hurt me,” Eddie promises. “Okay?”
Buck searches his face in the dark, but if he sees anything, he clearly doesn’t mind because he nods and gets up from the chair. When they both resettle on the mattress, Buck only pauses for a moment before curving around him like a parenthesis, his arm falling across Eddie’s waist.
Eddie’s breath catches.
“Is this—?”
Eddie closes his eyes and sinks into the embrace. If it feels just a little bit like cheating because he hasn't told Buck how he feels, that’s between him and god.
“It’s fine,” he assures, then adds to make it a little more fair, “you aren’t the only one who needs—you aren’t the only one.”
Buck relaxes at that, his grip tightening a little with newfound certainty.
When Eddie dreams, he doesn’t drown.
*
“You look good,” Dr. Kingston acknowledges two weeks later. “You’ve been sleeping better?”
“Yeah,” Eddie replies. “I stopped having nightmares, so I haven’t been waking up as much.”
He catches the surprise that flickers across her face.
“They stopped completely?” She asks. “Have you been doing something different or—?”
Eddie shifts in his chair and clears his throat. What is he supposed to tell her? That he stopped having nightmares when he started sleeping with Buck every night? He’s not really ready to unpack that with his therapist—he’s barely ready to unpack it in his own head.
“Just lucky, I guess,” he says. Dr. Kingston puts down her pen and levels him with a long look that tells him she knows that’s bullshit and is trying to decide whether to push or let it go until another time.
She lets it go.
“Well,” she replies. “I’m glad to hear it.”
Eddie feels like he’s dodged another bullet.
Later, though, he wonders if he shouldn’t have said more. If he shouldn’t have asked questions. Because he goes to sleep and—
The water is pitch black and freezing. Eddie’s eyes sting, but it doesn’t matter whether he keeps them open or not—there’s nothing to see. He kicks his legs anyway, swims up, up, up, even though it hurts to make his limbs work when they’re so cold. There’s a faint light—the surface—and he kicks harder, desperate to reach—
Ice. Nothing but a sheet of ice, solid and thick. His lungs burn from lack of air, his palms beat against the ice—
He can’t keep moving. It’s too cold. He can’t—
“Eddie. Eddie.” Hands seize him from nowhere, almost too warm, and Eddie could have sworn the ice had no cracks, but he’s being lifted out—
“Eddie.”
He snaps awake, gasping. Buck’s face swims into view, worry painted across every line. His hands are on Eddie’s shoulders.
They’re so warm.
Eddie shivers.
“You were hyperventilating,” Buck says. “I thought—”
“Just a dream,” Eddie grits out, trying to keep his teeth from chattering. He still feels frozen. Stupid—it was a dream, it wasn’t real, so he shouldn’t—it shouldn’t be this difficult.
He shivers again.
Buck’s brow furrows deeper.
“You’re shaking—are you cold?”
Eddie sits up and scrubs his hands over his face. He swallows back the denial on his tongue, the urge to run away and hide in the bathroom until a scalding shower makes him feel somewhat human again. Maybe he can’t always be honest with his therapist, but he can be honest with Buck.
“Yes,” he admits. “But it’s not—it’s just in my head. When I got shot I—it’s hard to explain but, yes. I’m cold. Freezing. I don’t know how—”
He cuts off and Buck shifts on the mattress, reaches out slowly so Eddie has plenty of time to stop him if he doesn’t want to be touched, and finally wraps his arms around him, pulling Eddie firmly against his chest.
“I’ll keep you warm,” Buck says quietly. And Eddie—
Something in him cracks. Not like ice during a thaw, but resolve after too much time of being worn down, pressure applied in precisely the right spot. He’s raw and ragged and his scarred heart hardly feels like anything anyone should want, but he’s so tired of pretending he hasn’t been trying to press it into Buck’s hands for a year in different ways. He’s tired of not asking and being afraid and waiting. He’s tired—
Buck makes a soft sound of surprise when Eddie kisses him. But he doesn’t push him away. And Eddie can’t help himself from pressing closer, curling one hand into Buck’s shirt and the other around the back of his neck and kissing him again and again and again, feeling altogether too frantic. He’ll probably find it in himself to be embarrassed in the morning, but want and desperation have left very little room for shame at the moment.
Buck kisses him back. His hands drop to Eddie’s hips as Eddie does his best to climb into his lap.
“Eddie,” Buck pants between kisses. “Eddie—I—” His head falls back and Eddie takes the opportunity to continue his exploration down the exposed line of Buck’s neck.
“Should we talk about this?” Buck finally manages, even as his own hands flirt with the hem of Eddie’s shirt.
Eddie freezes. The answer, of course, is yes. But talking is the last thing he wants to do when part of him still feels chilled to the bone, not wholly alive. He wants to be touched, wants to be consumed, wants to fall into orbit around Buck’s sun and never leave.
And it’s late. Dark. The two of them, the bed, the very room caught in a liminal space where anything could happen, anything could be said, anything could be forgiven. Eddie can’t decide if that’s a good thing or a dangerous one.
His mouth drags along the edge of Buck’s jaw.
“This isn’t because I wanted someone and you happened to be here, if that’s what you’re worried about.”
He doesn’t look at Buck’s face. It’s easier to not, to focus on something else. He stopped going to confession a long time ago, but he never had to look directly at his priest either, always some curtain or other barrier obscuring things, lending the illusion of privacy, anonymity.
“I’m in love with you,” he admits, and Buck’s hands flex on his hips. “I’ve been in love with you. So we can talk about this if you want, but—”
In an instant, Eddie’s on his back, the rest of his sentence swallowed up by the tongue sliding into his mouth. Buck is a warm, solid weight on top of him, pinning him, anchoring him, and Eddie finds he doesn’t mind when it forces him to be in the moment, reminds him that he’s fully in his own body.
“I love you, too,” Buck whispers when the kiss breaks, and then he’s pushing Eddie’s shirt up and off and dispensing with his own—
Shannon was his first. Eddie wasn’t hers and he remembers being glad that at least one of them had some idea of what to do because the second she touched him he was so overwhelmed by sensation that he could hardly think.
This is…not dissimilar. Buck’s chest presses flush against his, all warm, bare skin, and Eddie feels like he could drown in a different way. He arches up, seeking Buck’s mouth again, and Buck obliges.
Eddie’s focus narrows to certain points—the slick slide of Buck’s tongue against his, Buck’s hand ghosting along his ribs, the careful space between their hips and the low burn of heat in his gut that makes him want to close the gap—
His hands slide up Buck’s back slowly, his fingers tracing the knobs of Buck’s spine, the sharp edges of his shoulder blades—they dance along the line of his shoulders too, sketching the breadth that he’s noticed but never allowed his thoughts to linger on. His touch is careful, reverent, as if Buck is a holy thing that his stained, sinner hands have no business touching. Perhaps, in a sense that’s true.
He’s never been a very good Catholic, but sex—sex, desire, love—sex has always been something…sacred to him. In high school, he shied away from the locker room-style conversations about who went how far with whom, kept out of any discussion involving lamentations about still being a virgin at graduation. For one thing, he thought they were usually crass and disrespectful. But mainly he just—he didn’t care about waiting until marriage or anything like that, but he always knew he wanted to be in love. Hence, Shannon. And why there hadn’t been anyone after her.
Until now.
Eddie kisses Buck until his lungs ache, but he’s not close enough, feels like he can’t get close enough. One of his hands slides into Buck’s hair, but the other trails back down, presses lightly on Buck’s lower back as his own hips rock up, seeking friction. Buck swears against his lips and closes the distance—Eddie can feel him hard in his sweatpants and flushes, dizzy at the thought of having made that happen, dizzy at the thought of more, dizzy—
He feels very much like a clumsy teenager again, fumbling his way through on instinct. At least this sort of thing is familiar, even if he hasn’t done it with a man before. Buck grinds their hips together, the friction sending sparks through every one of Eddie’s nerve endings, and kisses down his neck, teeth scraping over his pulse point. Eddie gasps and Buck hums, low and pleased, against his skin.
And then, just as he thinks he’s used to the slow burn of pleasure, Buck shifts his weight and slides a hand down to toy with Eddie’s waistband. Buck meets his eyes in the dark and swallows hard.
“Can I—?”
This time, when Eddie shivers it has nothing to do with the cold.
“Please,” he rasps, and Buck smiles before tugging Eddie’s pants down just enough to wrap his hand around Eddie’s cock.
Buck’s touch is a little tentative at first, clearly unused to the angle, and the part of Eddie that’s still capable of noticing that spends a brief moment feeling grateful that he’s not the only one lacking in experience here. But what Buck may lack in experience, he makes up for in enthusiasm, experimenting with grip and speed and pressure to figure out exactly what to do to make Eddie gasp again, to make him bite his lip, to make him hide his face in Buck’s shoulder to muffle any louder noises he can’t quite hold back.
It doesn’t take long. Even before the shooting, Eddie rarely bothered to touch himself with any sort of regularity, and during his recovery he had even less of a reason to do so, what little energy he had in the first few months better spent elsewhere. He hadn’t realized how badly he needed it. But clearly his body did because his orgasm hits him like a train when Buck spits into his hand for extra glide and twists his wrist on the upstroke. He bites Buck’s shoulder and Buck’s hips jerk and then he’s just floating—boneless, breathless, and utterly wrecked in the best possible way.
Buck collapses on the mattress next to him as Eddie’s catching his breath—Eddie reaches out, his hand skating over Buck’s stomach, and makes a questioning noise. Buck laughs quietly and catches his hand, bringing it to his lips.
“I, uh—I’m good,” Buck promises, and even in the dark Eddie can see his cheeks flush.
Eddie curls into his side. “Really?”
Buck kisses him. “I don’t think you realize how long I’ve wanted to do that. Or how good you look. So, yes, I already—yes. Really.”
Eddie’s lips curve up. He presses a kiss to the edge of Buck’s jaw. As the immediate aftermath wears off, his eyelids start to grow heavy, his limbs moving a little less easily.
“We should probably shower,” he acknowledges, although the strength of the statement is likely diminished by the yawn that interrupts him halfway through.
“Probably,” Buck agrees, but he too makes no move to actually get up.
Pressed against him as he is, Eddie is warm and sated and content. He drifts, skirting the edge of sleep.
“I love you,” he says again. Because it feels important.
Buck hums. If he says something else, it’s too low for Eddie to catch.
When he dreams again, he doesn’t dream of drowning. He doesn’t dream of the cold.
Instead, there’s just light. Just warmth.
Just Buck.

MONICA WAS BOTHERED. there was someone sitting in her spot.
after only three weeks at camp, monica was physically and mentally exhausted. she hadn’t known that when she signed up to take care of a bunch of kids, they would actually be childern.
she thought they’d be angsty, but less energetic, pre-teens who were going through a meta-phase and preferred space rather than attention.
instead, she got a handful of eight to ten year olds who not only were attention-hungry mongrels but also had more energy in seven seconds than she had in a whole damn day.
“what to? what to go?” she mumbled to herself, standing still at the other end of the dock. she rubbed her ear lobe and tilted her head to the side as she observed the figure sitting at her spot.
today was more than exhausting- today was excruciating, bordering on unbearable, in both the senses.
after taking the childern swimming and hiking todau- and then chasing a few stray kids who went ventured off the designated paths and areas- the responsibility of cleaning the gazebo post-dinner- had been thrust upon monica. to make the day significantly worse, she’d woken up with a plethora of concoling texts from well-intentioned friends, only serving to remind her of the anniversary today.
as if she could ever forget.
as if looking at the date itself wouldn’t remind her.
july 11th.
monica fucking hated july 11th.
since she’d opened her eyes at the ass crack of dawn, she’s been looking forward to sitting in her spot and just relaxing.
She had nothing to study today, so after her job was done for the day, she would just sit there, at her spot, the same spot she'd been sitting in all summer with no intruders, and bask in the moonlight as she read; a suitable distraction from whatever was going on in her mind.
But it seemed as though her plans were to be foiled by the stranger sitting at the other end of the dock. In her spot.
What if it's one of the kids? she wondered. She strained her neck forward and squinted in an attempt to make out the size of the silhouette. The moon provided inadequate lighting. That, paired with her poor vision, made it impossible to precisely decipher what she was staring at.
monica thus had one of two options. She could either turn back around and go to the campsite, where she would inevitably run into one of the other counselors who would coerce (i.e. force) her to go to the end-of-camp bonfire with the rest of the volunteers. Or she could approach this stranger sitting in her spot and console them until she could once again reclaim her spot in solitude.
There was an unspoken third option which was to push the stranger into the water as to avoid all this trouble, but that was rude, inappropriate, and if it was a child sitting there, against camp rules.
It was only after the unknown person at the other end of the dock emitted an audible sob that Victoria's empathy convinced her that the best course of action would be option two.
So, that's exactly what she did-even though she wanted to be alone, even though she wanted nothing more than to lie down with her eyes closed for just a minute, engrossed with the surrounding sounds of nature all around her-she sat right down next to this person. Because even if she needed the solitude, this person might have needed the comfort even more.
"Hi," she said to what now appeared to be a grown man. He was wearing a magenta shirt with the words counsellor printed on the front. She didn't recognize him, but that didn't surprise her. She only hung out with the members of her cabin.
The crying man flinched at the sudden sound of her voice. He swiped the tears away from his face and cleared his throat before turning to look at the girl who took a seat beside him.
"Hey," he said. Her features were hidden behind the shadows of the night. Still, she seemed familiar.
The pair sat in awkward silence for a prolonged moment, and she finally realized she was the one meant to instigate conversation since she was the intruder.
"I'm monica, but everyone calls me moni or em." She held her hand out and offered a small smile.
"clay." He extended his too. They looked at each other with visible uncomfortable before turning back to face the lake.
Maybe this was a bad idea, she thought. Yet, there was no going back.
"So, clay," she began, swinging her legs over the edge. She was wearing her strap-on sandals. She was tall enough that when she swung her legs hard enough, the water would create a cool tickle as it licked at her toes.
"So, monica," he micked when she didn't continue.
"So, clay." She bit the inside of her cheeks. She didn't know what to do-or say. She wasn't very good at small talk. She liked to get down to brass tacks. "What are you doing here?"
It was a dumb (and somewhat accusatory) question, but it was all she could think of.
"If I said I was stargazing, would you believe me?"
"Uh, sure, if that's what you want." However, the glance she shot him was all too knowing. clay looked away and pursed his lips.
"This is weird-I mean I know I don't know you-maybe I just . . ." he paused a moment and took a deep breath before continuing in a soft tone. "Do you ever just, y'know, get really sad being here sometimes?" He scratched at a mustard stain on his shorts. The sullen feelings that had simmered inside monica all day became more prevalent, burning her heart. She swallowed the hurt down, and remained as nonchalant as possible.
"What do you mean?"
clay turned his body to face her, one leg folded in so the heel of his foot pressed into his inner thigh with the other leg hanging over the ledge. She mimicked his posture.
"I know I don't know you . . . it's weird to just . . . but I have to talk about it . . ." He stopped and took a deep breath, and monica waited patiently for him to choke the words out. "Do you know a kid named tommy?" She shook her head. "I mean, of course, you don't know him. You're clearly in green cabin. Well, tommy is a kid in my group, and a few days ago, his mother passed away."
His eyes became glassy. He looked like he was going to cry soon, and she made a silent prayer that he wouldn't. It was hard enough handling her own sadness, much less another person's.
God, I regret doing this. Everyone likes to be alone when they're sad. Why couldn't he just lie and say he's fine and shoo me away? she thought with an internal groan when he began to sniffle.
For a while, monica stayed quiet. She wanted to fill the silence, but she knew she needed to wait. She knew he had more to say. He simply couldn't find the words yet.
"I just don't know what to do," he finally exhaled. He refused to look at her and instead gazed out at the glimmering body of water. It was beautiful at night since the ugly brownish color of the lake was concealed under the dark sky. In the moonlight, the waves reflected a distorted portrait of the moon and stars. It appeared white and sparkled like diamonds as the small tides crashed against each other with a calming whoosh sound. "He's not eating right. He's not talking. He's not doing anything, but he's still doing everything, y'know? It's like he's a zombie.
"And what makes it worse is that he was supposed to go to her last week, but he didn't want to because he was having fun here. And I know-I know-he's blaming himself right now. But he shouldn't. He didn't know she was going to die. He couldn't know that. And he's seven, he's just a kid. He shouldn't have to deal with this. He shouldn't have to understand any of this.
"And his mom- God, his mom is amazing. And so nice. I met her when she dropped him off. And I just-I just don't know-how am I supposed to . . . I mean, tomorrow is the last day. I won't see him, won't be there to make sure he's doing what he needs to do. How am I going to make sure he's okay?"
"He's probably not going to be okay," monica declared in a blunt tone, not even hesitating in her response. She cursed herself when she noticed the appalled look on clay's face. "But that's okay," she reassured.
"What do you mean it's okay? Did you not just hear my fuckin' monologue just now?"
"I heard you!" she spoke over him. "What I mean is that, well," she paused and bit her lower lip, thinking a little. "It's okay for it to not be okay, y'know? That's life."
"He's seven," clay repeated, enunciating every letter as if she were inept. monica rolled her eyes, trying not to feel frustrated with a guy who clearly had never dealt with grief.
"I said I heard you, but that doesn't change the fact that what happened is not okay and there's nothing you can do about it." She took a deep breath before she said her next sentence. "My mother died of ovarian cancer when I was ten, and I'm still not okay. But...that's okay."
clay stared at monica for a bit. Before, when she sat beside him, her body facing the lake, he hadn't noticed how pretty she was. But now, with her body directed at him, he could make out her features. She had brown tawny skin, curly hair, and electric green eyes. Light freckles dotted her nose and cheeks, and he had to squint to see them. Granted, it was somewhat inappropriate to be realizing all this given her sudden revelation, but he couldn't help it.
"I'm sorry about-"
"Don't say it!" She slapped her hand over his mouth. A lot harder than necessary if the grimace on his face was any indication. "Don't say it," she repeated, softer.
Then they sat there, facing one another but looking at anything but each other.
"She died on this day, actually," Victoria whispered. For some reason, she found it easier to talk about this with someone she didn't know than with the people who knew and cared. "That's why I came out here. To wallow." Alone, she almost added but didn't want to hurt his feelings.
"Wallow."
"Yeah, what tommy's doing. Wallowing. Mourning. Whatever you want to call it."
"And there's nothing I can do for you-I mean tommy?"
monica thought about his question and folded her arms over her chest. Since her mother had died, people had presented her this offer hundreds of times and without hesitation, monica always declined. But now, she didn't know.
Could someone help her through this? According to her childhood therapist, yes. But based on monica's experience, no.
For her, it was much easier to keep the feelings and thoughts buried inside. To let the emotions consume her, burn her from within until it finally subsided, and then she would be fine once more.
For her, the more she manifested the existence of this sadness, the more real it became, and the more it hurt. Like now, she could feel the pain prickling her every nerve, and it took a concerted effort to ignore it and act normal.
"I don't think there's anything you can do. I mean, it's up to the person, right? We have to find something to fill the void. That's why we have this camp for the kids. To fill their hearts with good memories and friends so that they can take these memories, this love, and support, and use it to make it hurt a little less." When she finished, monica balked. "God, I sound sappy."
clay laughed, and she did too.
"Only a little sappy, but it's pretty perceptive." She nodded, feeling somewhat proud by his admission.
And then, for the next three hours, they started talking about anything and everything and monica realized that maybe this was what she needed today.

Spooky Stories to Hold Them Close
Shinobu Kochou x They/Them Reader Modern AU
A/N:  I’ve got camping on the brain so I wrote a camp AU. There is a manga character mentioned in here but I morph them a bit to fit what I’m going for so I wouldn’t worry about it too much. Please enjoy!  Shinobu: If there are any spirits out here tonight tell me, does this sound like Shakira? lolay lolay lo-
Word Count: 4,821
It was summer again, and (Y/n) groaned as they removed their camp issued baseball cap to swipe at the sweat that had accumulated over their brow. Not even the cheap material could save them from the intense heat of the day. God, they would kill to be back at the counselor’s cabin to enjoy just a smidge of AC but no, instead they were out with the unruly boys of Cabin K, making sure that they carried out their punishment of hard labor after causing a food fight in the mess hall.
“Come on boys, those canoes better be sparkling if you’re going to be taking your sweet time like this.” (Y/n) called, fanning themself with their hat.
“There’s a spider in this one!” Zenitsu cried. “This is so gross, there’s no way anyone’s ever cleaned these before!”
“Don’t worry Zenitsu, I’ll get it.” Tanjirou smiled earnestly.
(Y/n) felt bad for that kid. He was such an enabler though. The others looked up to him and respected him a lot. Who knows how much better it be if he knocked their heads more often. But because of his soft and nurturing demeanor, Tanjirou was always getting caught up in his cabin mates’ shenanigans. Speaking of which...
“Inosuke! If so much as a toe goes in that water you’ll be at the craft table with the junior kids making macaroni art until the only color you know yellow!” (Y/n) warned.
A strangled wail mixed with a roar left the boy’s mouth, the sound didn’t even sound like it could come from a human being. It was like that boy was a feral boar. Given how he’s kept coming back year after year, he may as well be just that.
“It’s hot! I’ll wash the boat in the lake!” He yelled, pulling the canoe closer to the sandy beach.
“Inosuke I’m serious! Macaroni art! That, and I’ll call your mother!” (Y/n) yelled back.
“Damn you and your sick threats!”
“My, still at it are we?”
(Y/n) sighed, turning with a tight smile towards Shinobu as their fellow counselor came up beside them. They tried not to let their eyes wander too long over the expanse of soft looking skin Shinobu’s shorts left exposed.
“Yeah, and as you can see, Tomioka ditched me to go help Sabito with something.” (Y/n) huffed, returning a watchful eye over Inosuke as he dragged the canoe back up to the others.
“Oh, you poor thing.” Shinobu tutted, stepping closer to rub (Y/n)’s back as a sign of sympathy. The proximity brought the scent of sunscreen and damp earth to (Y/n)’s nose. It was an intoxicating scent that (Y/n) had grown to associate with Shinobu always.
“Yeah, are you getting ready for swim lessons right now? Tradesies?” They asked hopefully, mustering up the best puppy dog eyes they could make. They only succeeded in making Shinobu laugh though, which honestly, wasn’t a bad constellation prize.
“Mm, no, sorry. You’re not the only one wanting to get relief from this heatwave.” Shinobu pinched the front of her shirt pulling at it to circulate some airflow. A motion (Y/n) definitely did not follow with their eyes.
“I did grab you and the boys some water though.” Shinobu said, digging into the drawstring bag that was slung over her shoulder and presenting (Y/n) with four bottles of cold water. “And to think I purposfully didn’t get one for Tomioka and he isn’t even here to stare off into the middle distance. Such a waste.”
“You’re such a bully sometimes, you know that?” (Y/n) chuckled, placing all bottles at their feet except for one, “remind me to stay on your good side.”
“You’d really be on my good side if you came to the counselor fire after the kids turn in. The theme is Fright Night, sponsored by yours truly,” Shinobu winked playfully.
Immediately (Y/n) felt a tad ill. “Fright Night?”
“Yes!” Shinobu nodded, a small, yet very excited grin on her face, “it’ll be held at Hangman’s Clearing, of course, a full night of frightening tales and games by the fire... and delicious treats! Provided Mitsuri doesn’t eat them all on the way. You’ll come, right?”
(Y/n) wasn’t particularly fond of the supernatural or chilling tales of murder or other dark themes. In fact, it would be fair to say they loathed them. They hated being scared and this themed get together should have had (Y/n) running in the opposite direction. ‘Should have’ being the key in this situation.
Shinobu looked so hopeful, waiting expectantly for (Y/n)’s reply. It would be impossible to say no to that face. A face that (Y/n) looked forward to seeing every summer and was always desperately looking for an excuse to see as often as possible. It couldn’t be that bad, right? (Y/n) could handle a few spooks in exchange for hanging out with Shinobu all night. Yeah, they could do this.
“It’s not a trick question, (Y/n). A simple yes or no would suffice.” Shinobu teased. “Though if it helps sway your decision at all, it would make me really happy if you would come.”
And with that, (Y/n)’s fate was sealed.
“Okay, sure, yeah, I’ll come.” (Y/n) bashfully agreed, their heartbeat picking up in pace at Shinobu’s delighted giggle.
“Great! I’ll see you at the clearing at ten. Don’t be late or,” she suddenly latched on to (Y/n)’s arm, startling them, “the ghosts will get you!”
“I’ll keep that in mind.” (Y/n) laughed weakly. Their skin tingling from where Shinobu had grabbed them.
“I better get to the beach, the kids are getting antsy.” Shinobu said before proceeding to pull her shirt over her head. She was wearing her swimsuit of course, but still. (Y/n) nearly had an aneurysm because of the casual reveal. “See you later, (Y/n).”
“Sssseee you. Bye. Thanks for the water.” (Y/n) then made themselves busy by taking several sips of said water.
“Anytime,” Shinobu’s eyes traveled past (Y/n)’s body before returning to them with a sympathetic smile, “looks like you’ve got your work cut out for you.”
“Huh?” (Y/n) squinted before their eyes blew wide and they jerked their head back in the direction of the canoes. “Tanjirou, why is there a canoe in that tree! I swear I can’t leave you guys alone for two minutes!” (Y/n) stalked over to the boys and Shinobu watched their back, laughing as (Y/n) ran up to Inosuke and tackled him to the ground before he could scale the tree with another canoe.
***
Night fell much too quickly after a full day of scheduled activities and once all the campers had retired to their cabins for curfew, (Y/n) knew their time to mentally prepare for the counselor fire had run out. At least they hadn’t had to walk to the clearing themself, as they had bumped into Mitsuri and Iguro at the edge of the forest entrance.
Iguro seemed miffed that his alone time with the bubbly counselor had been interrupted but Mitsuri was all too happy to catch up with (Y/n) about their day as they walked to Hangman’s Clearing.
Soon the light of a fire could be seen between the trees and they met up with the other counselors who had decided to join in. Sitting around the fire, (Y/n) saw Kyoujurou and Tengen talking to each other while poking at the fire. (Y/n) frowned, wondering where Shinobu was.
“Boo!”
It took everything in (Y/n)’s power to swallow the scream that threatened to spill from their mouth as arms wrapped around them from behind. Instead it turned into a pitiful and embarrassing squeak. (Y/n) wasn’t sure which would have been better.
“Oh dear, (Y/n). Did I startle you? I’m sorry.” Shinobu released (Y/n) from her hold and patted their shoulder.
“It’s okay!” (Y/n) promised, not wanting Shinobu to feel bad. “Besides, that’s kind of the point of tonight, isn’t it?”
“Right! I’m glad you could come (Y/n). I didn’t know if you liked scary things.” Shinobu said as they followed Mitsuri and Iguro to the fire.
“Yeah...” (Y/n) replied, lying against their better judgment. They just wanted Shinobu to think they were cool, impress her somehow maybe. “Horror is.. great.”
“Is this it?” Tengen asked, leaning his back against a sturdy log.
“Yes. Gyomei is staying behind to keep an ear out for the kids, as are Sabito and Tomioka. Sanemi said the whole thing wasn’t worth his time.” Shinobu explained as she took her own seat at the fire, motioning for (Y/n) to sit next to her.
“Did you even really invite Tomioka?” Tengen snorted.
“Of course I did, but as you all know, Tomioka is a wet blanket so he declined and Sabito decided to stay with him.” Shinobu clapped her hands against her thighs, “Now, enough about them. Let’s get the festivities started, shall we? Mitsuri, you brought the goods?”
“I sure did!” Mitsuri cheered, taking the nearly overflowing backpack she had been toting off of her shoulders. It landed in the dirt with a heavy thud. “I’ve got s’more fixings, jiffy pop, chips, sodas, water, hotdogs...”
“Wow Mitsuri, you really went all out. How did you carry it all?” (Y/n) marveled.
Mitsuri flexed one of her biceps, smacking the muscle with her hand. “Strength, pure will power and an intense love of all things delicious!” She said, her lips curled into an adorable smile.
The counselor fire started out great. For the first hour they all talked and ate, enjoying the warmth of the fire and the twinkle of the stars, laughing with each other as they recalled the memories that they had made over the years.
But like anything else, the conversation dried to a slow trickle and most of the food had been polished off. The once hearty blaze of the fire was now a low flame with glowing embers. Shinobu took it as her cue to begin the main event.
(Y/n) blinked at the sudden brightness that flashed beside them. They squinted against the light and saw that Shinobu was brandishing a flashlight, highlighting her face for a moment before moving the light to cast shadows over the sinister smile growing across her face.
“Anyone have a scary story they’d like to share or are you all content to dive into the main event?” Shinobu asked, placing her free hand confidently over her chest.
“Oo! I got one, Shinobu! Pick me!” Mitsuri called, calling out in her seat beside Iguro.
“Alright, catch!” Shinobu tossed the flashlight to Mitsuri who caught it with an excited squee.
“Okay, so, um.. oh! Once, there was this girl who woke up in the middle of the night and couldn’t go back to sleep. She decided that she wanted a midnight snack and remembered that there was still a piece of her favorite raspberry cheesecake left. A perfect creamy treat! She could practically taste it already.”
Mitsuri wiggled on the log, leaning forward in her excitement. Light from the fire illuminated the green tips of her hair making them appear to glow.
“So she got out of her warm and comfy bed and crept into the dark, cold hallway, thump thump thump, and down the squeaky stairs, squeak squawk squeak, until she finally made it to the kitchen.
Mitsuri reached out towards the fire with her free hand and made a motion like grabbing a door, slowly pulling it back.
“She opened the refrigerator door and then—“ Mitsuri slapped her hand down upon her thigh with startling force, “to her absolute horror, she remembered that she had eaten the last piece of cheesecake at lunch the previous day! There was no more cheesecake to be had, and she had to settle for confetti cake ice cream when what she was really craving was the cheesecake!”
Mitsuri shook her head sorrowfully, and Iguro rubbed a soothing hand over her back while she collected herself.
“The end.” Mitsuri finished, clicking the flashlight off.
“Haha! Good one Mitsuri. The emotion behind your tale made it feel so real!” Kyoujirou loudly proclaimed. Shinobu giggled from her seat beside (Y/n) who also couldn’t help but laugh as well.
“It was real!” Mitsuri said seriously. “It happened to me just a couple weeks ago!” she shuddered.
“I don’t know, that was hardly scary Kanroji.” Tengen shrugged.
“I’d like to see you do better!” Mitsuri pouted.
“I could, but I’d rather let Kochou get on with her activities. Her knee is bouncing. Impatient, Kochou?”
“Ha ha! That it is!” Kyoujirou laughed.
“I can wait,” Shinobu countered, her leg ceased its bouncing due to being caught. “Does anyone else want to share a story?”
A chorus of head shakes met Shinobu’s question and she shrugged, a sly smiling curling at her lips.
“Very well then, Mitsuri, the flashlight please.”
“You got it!” Mitsuri cheered, tossing the light back to Shinobu.
Shinobu clicked the light back on, her eyes roamed over her audience one by one.
“Have you all heard of the serial killer Douma the Cannibal?” Shinobu asked.
“Of course,” Iguro spoke up. “He killed at least seventy women throughout the 1910s until well into the 1920s. However, their still connecting cold case murders to him even now. Some experts believe he could have killed well over two hundred. A really despicable monster to say the least.”
“Very true.” Shinobu nodded solemnly, “His parents ran a cult, believing he was some kind of messiah or deity. They let him do whatever he wished. It started with the killings of small animals but quickly escalated once that had lost its appeal. We don’t know much of motivations, but it’s believed he killed simply because he enjoyed it. Famously developing a taste for his victims after he ran out of places to store them.”
(Y/n) shivered, clutching themself in a hug as they waited for Shinobu to continue. This was worse than any old ghost story, the girl beside them was talking about an actual person! Well, at least he was dead right? Right?
“He was apprehended right here in this very clearing actually.” Shinobu said, looking around at the dark forest that surrounded them “The mob hung him, strung him up in one of these trees, hence the name Hangman’s Clearing.”
(Y/n) swallowed thickly. Why here, he couldn’t be dead someplace else? And they made a fucking summer camp here, what the actual fuck? Suddenly the woods seemed much more sinister.
“He deserved it of course,” Shinobu continued with a sigh, “but just think of what we could have learned if they chained him up instead. There are still many bodies unaccounted for. But perhaps,” Shinobu turned to (Y/n), making them jump a little as her hand slid behind them to pick up a box.
“But perhaps tonight, in the field where he gasped for his last breaths, we can learn something from beyond.”
Oh hell to the fucking no. She was holding a goddamn ouija board and matching planchette.
(Y/n) felt the hairs on the back of their neck rise to attention. There was no way, how could they get themself out of this? Calling upon the spirit of a serial killer was not what they had signed up for. Everyone else however, seemed to lean in and stare with excitement at the prospect, even Mitsuri quickly hopped out of her seat to sit on Shinobu’s other side.
“Oo, oo! Shinobu what a good idea!” she cheered.
A good idea? Mitsuri, honey, what is wrong with you, respectfully. (Y/n) held their face in their hand. That girl had been their only chance of escape, but she seemed just as invested as everyone else!
“Thank you, let’s get this set up then, shall we?” Shinobu grinned.
Tengen and Kyoujirou pushed the logs around into a makeshift table and everyone kneeled around it. Shinobu placed the board and planchette neatly in the middle, beckoning everyone to place a finger on the planchette.
(Y/n) jolted to attention as Shinobu placed her hand over theirs, giving them a questioning glance.
“(Y/n), are you still with us?” She teased.
“Yeah, sorry.” They gulped, watching in dismay as Shinobu smiled at them and pulled their hand up to the board, curling all fingers but one and playfully pushing it against the planchette before placing her own over the wood. There was no getting out of this.
Shinobu then went on about how the board worked and what not, (Y/n) didn’t really listen, too busy trying to find their happy place and pretend they weren’t there.
“Are there any spirits with us tonight?” Shinobu asked, pulling (Y/n) out of their head at the most inopportune moment.
At first there was no movement, for which (Y/n) was thankful, but ever so slowly the planchette did move.
“K-Kyou, you aren’t pushing it are you?” (Y/n) couldn’t help but ask.
“Not at all my friend!” Kyoujirou heartily replied as the planchette continued moving in (Y/n)’s direction.
The fact that it was moving in their direction wasn’t the issue, but rather the fact that (Y/n)’s corner of the board had ‘yes’ written on it.
“Ah, a yes! This is so exciting!” Mitsuri wiggled.
“Nice, how flamboyant!” Tengen added, pumping his free fist.
“What is your name spirit?” Shinobu continued.
(Y/n) let out a shaky breath as the planchette moved away from them. Watching with dread as it skimmed across the board.
‘D’
‘O’
‘U’
‘M’
‘A’
Fuck.
“Where are the victims you buried in these woods, you worthless, demonic bastard?” Shinobu tensed beside (Y/n), concentrating heavily on the board, her tone was commanding as she demanded an answer.
(Y/n) would have found it extremely attractive if they weren’t already scared out of their mind. The taunting of a serial killer ghost was the last thing they wanted to be a part of. Especially if they were talking demons, (Y/n) was too young to die like this. Well, they’d never be at an age where death by demon possession would seem favorable, but that was not the point!
The planchette moved across several letters and (Y/n) lost track of what was being spelled out. Which was just as well, ignorance is bliss after all, right? They waited for the others to figure it out with bated breath.
“Follow the sounds of the woods and we’ll find the signs, hm?” Iguro muttered. “Sounds like a trap.”
“What does it matter? Not like ghosts exist anyway. This is all a part of the ambiance, right Shinobu?” Tengen laughed, laying back on his forearms.
“I wasn’t pushing the planchette if that’s what you are suggesting, Uzui.” Shinobu answered seriously. “But if anyone else wants to confess to it, by all means don’t waste our time.”
“I didn’t!” Mitsuri denied while Iguro shook his head.
“I didn’t either.” (Y/n) also spoke up, an undetectable tremor pulled at their vocal chords.
“Nor have I!” Kyoujirou boomed.
“Then there is only one way to know for sure that this is all legitimate,” Shinobu said, brandishing the small lantern she had lit to illuminate the board, “we break off and search the surrounding woods.”
“Break off? Like, search in the dark alone?” (Y/n) couldn’t help but ask for clarification. Couldn’t they all just head back to the cabins together and watch a movie on Tengen’s smuggled DVD player and forget this whole mess?
“No, not alone,” Shinobu smiled, looping her free arm through (Y/n)’s, “that would be too dangerous. Pairs would be better.”
“I’m going with Kanroji.” Iguro immediately declared. Mitsuri wiggled and clapped, happy to go with him.
“Guess that leaves you and me,” Tengen grinned, fist bumping Kyoujirou, “let’s kick some ghost ass!”
“Yes!” Kyoujirou enthusiastically replied.
“Great, then it’s decided!” Shinobu nodded, squeezing (Y/n)’s arm closer to her as she stood up, pulling them up with her. “Meet back here in half an hour?”
A range of approvals sounded and once they synced up their watches (since phones weren’t allowed at camp), the three separate pairs went off in different directions into the dark woods.
(Y/n) used to love these woods, coming back summer after summer, it was one of the things they looked forward to every year. It only took about twenty minutes for them to learn to hate it as Shinobu led them through the bramble and roots by lantern light.
“You’re being awfully quiet, something on your mind?” Shinobu asked after an owl hooted in the distance, startling (Y/n) a bit.
“No, I’m just,” (Y/n) made a vague gesture with their hands, “concentrating, I guess.” They finished lamely.
Shinobu hummed in amusement, “I’m glad you’re enjoying yourself. It is all rather exciting isn’t it? I hope we find something.”
“Mhmm.” (Y/n) forced a smile as Shinobu looked over her shoulder at them. It quickly fell from their face once Shinobu turned to face front again, guiding (Y/n) further down the darkened path.
(Y/n) had never been more tense in their life. They didn’t know if they were thankful for Shinobu’s commentary as they kept walking or if they wanted her to be quiet so they could hear any approaching threat. Whatever the case, they kept their mouth shut. Only answering Shinobu with one word responses, affirming or negative noises or just the shake or nod of their head when Shinobu would look back at them. If Shinobu thought it odd, she didn’t comment on her fellow counselor’s behavior.
After awhile, (Y/n) attempted to pretend they were somewhere else again. Still with Shinobu, but somewhere nice like an amusement park or a beach at sunset... maybe sunrise instead. (Y/n) was jostled from their musings when Shinobu stopped suddenly, causing (Y/n) to bump into her.
“Did you hear that?” She whispered, spiking (Y/n) blood pressure through the roof.
“No.” They squeaked.
“Listen.” Shinobu hushed, pulling (Y/n) down to their knees, they both crouched to the ground, listening so hard their ears were buzzing.
A snapping of a branch in the distance, the rustle of leaves.
“What,” (Y/n) swallowed, “what was that?” They whispered.
“Shhh,” Shinobu exhaled, covering (Y/n)’s lips with her fingers as she continued to listen.
It was quiet again, and as Shinobu gave up on listening and removed her fingers from over (Y/n)’s mouth—
“KYYYYAAAAAHHHH!”
A loud scream could be heard far off in the trees, then everything went quiet again for all of three seconds before (Y/n) absolutely lost it.
“Oh my god!” They gasped, clutching Shinobu’s arm tightly to their chest, their eyes wide and unfocused. “Oh my god, that sounded like Mitsuri! Oh god, oh fuck! Shit!”
“(Y/n)?” Shinobu looked at them, a bewildered expression molding her face as she observed their sudden outburst. She quickly moved to comfort them though, setting the lantern down to hug them, rubbing their back as it shuddered with ragged breaths. “Hey, it’s alright. You’re okay.”
“For now!” (Y/n) frantically retorted. “It’s only a matter of time before whatever got Mitsuri and Iguro come for us!”
“(Y/n), wait—“ Shinobu tried to calm them, but they just kept spiraling.
“Why did I agree to this? I should have left the second you took out that ouija board, but no! I stayed just so I could spend more time with you and now we’re gonna be murdered by a demon serial killer ghost before I could finally work up the courage to ask you out!”
“(Y/n)!” Shinobu tried again, speaking a bit sharper this time, forcing (Y/n) to look at her and hoping to calm them with her attentions. “Hey, we’re going to be alright. You’re alright. Listen to me, okay? I set this all up.”
“Huh?” (Y/n) weakly croaked.
“I messed with the ouija board. We weren’t really communicating with anything. I planned for us to split off into groups. We heard Mitsuri scream because—“
“Who’s ready to die!?” A loud maniacal laugh sounded behind them and a chainsaw roared to life.
(Y/n) screamed, otherwise paralyzed in Shinobu’s embrace. Their head tucked under Shinobu’s with their cheek pressed snugly against her chest as they waited for the chainsaw blade to tear through their skin.
“Sanemi, turn that off right now! Stop, damn you!” Shinobu yelled over the noise.
“Okay, okay!” the false murderer, Sanemi, turned off the whirring blade with a tisk. “I was only following your own instructions, Kochou. Why are you looking at me like I was really gonna... oh damn, are they okay?” Sanemi winced, gesturing at (Y/n) quivering in Shinobu’s arms like a leaf.
“Do they look okay to you?” Shinobu huffed, more angry at herself than Sanemi. She continued rubbing at (Y/n)’s back, trying to coax them out of their tight ball while Sanemi stood by awkwardly at the side, rubbing his neck and looking into the woods.
“I’ll uh, gather everybody up and take ‘em back to camp.” Sanemi eventually spoke up. “You have things all under control here?”
“Yes, please go. Thank you Sanemi.” Shinobu shooed him off, not even looking away from (Y/n) as she did so. As Sanemi lumbered back into the forest Shinobu continued to help (Y/n) calm down.
“It’ll be okay, you’ll be alright. I’m so sorry. It’s all over now. It’s just you and me and I’m not going to let anything bad happen to you.” Shinobu promised. “Can you look at me (Y/n), please?”
Ever so slowly, (Y/n) pulled back. They were still visibly shaken and meek which pulled heavily on Shinobu’s heart.
“I’m sorry.” (Y/n) shuddered, closing in on themself as they looked away from Shinobu, “I ruined your event.”
“Hey, you didn’t ruin anything.” Shinobu spoke in a no-nonsense tone. “I should have noticed you weren’t having a good time.”
“I was having a good time at first. I just really wanted to spend time with you, I thought I could handle it.”
“You can spend time with me whenever you want; all you need to do is ask.” Shinobu smiled softly. “And if anything makes you uncomfortable I want you to tell me right away, okay?”
“Okay,” (Y/n) sniffed.
“I think we’ve spent enough time in the woods tonight.” Shinobu stood, holding her hand out for (Y/n) to take.
“Yeah,” (Y/n) chuckled weakly, accepting the hand and rising to their feet. Shinobu kept her hold on them as she picked up the lantern and guided (Y/n) back to the cabins.
Once they reached the clearing, the other counselors involved in the night’s festivities surrounded them, making sure everything was alright. Mitsuri gave (Y/n) a long, comforting hug while Kyoujirou squeezed their shoulder warmly. Tengen and Iguro shared a few kind sentiments and Sanemi grumbled out a sincere apology for scaring them so badly.
As everyone was turning in to their bunks for the night, Shinobu stopped in front of (Y/n)’s bunk as they were pulling back the covers, waving Tengen’s contraband DVD player in her hand.
“Hey, so, I figured you might have a hard time sleeping tonight. Would you want to watch a movie with me?” She asked.
“Yeah, I think that would help a lot. As long as it’s not horror anyway.” (Y/n) added.
“No, I’ve learned my lesson,” Shinobu shook her head making herself at home in (Y/n)’s bunk as she untangled the ear buds, “a romantic comedy is just about as far from horror as one can get I think.”
(Y/n) tried to give Shinobu her own space, but the small bunk didn’t leave much room for that and Shinobu didn’t seem interested in preserving her personal space anyway. Instead pulling (Y/n) to rest against her side after she set everything up.
“Are you comfortable?” She asked, finger poised over the play button.
“Yeah,” (Y/n) nodded against her shoulder, “thanks.”
“Of course.” Shinobu nodded, pressing play.
As the movie played they quietly made fun of it together and commented on the events as they transpired. Once earning Tengen’s wrath for laughing a little too loud while the rest were trying to sleep.
“You know,” (Y/n) whispered during one of the lulls in the story, “if you wanted to watch a horror movie with me some other time I think I could do it if you stayed by my side like this.” They bashfully admitted.
“Well, there is one coming out that I’d like to see this fall...” Shinobu informed with a teasing smile and (Y/n) scoffed lightly.
“I don’t like how quickly you came up with a plan, but I’ll look forward to it.” They said.
“Hey, it’s still a ways off. I hope to have several tamer dates between now and then.” Shinobu casually dropped.
“You do?” (Y/n)’s face grew warm, “With me?” They added just in case, making Shinobu giggle and nod her head.
“Yes, with you. So think of what you want to do for our next free day.”
(Y/n) grinned and snuggled further into Shinobu’s side.
Eventually they fell asleep while Shinobu’s fingers lightly scratched the back of their neck. She turned off the movie and carefully set the DVD player on the floor below. Then she curled up against (Y/n) and fell asleep as well.

Part 5 -
53 days of camp left
The first day at Camp Willowdale was usually pretty straightforward – campers arrive, sign in, move into their designated cabins where they meet their counselors, then all gather in the Wildcat Lodge to get their schedules, maps, badges and compasses. Ever since Pricilla’s daughter left her, she ditched the idea of having a stable with horses at camp (saying it reminded her way too much of Wendy, and also cost a lot of money to maintain), and settled for scavenger hunts in full scout mode in the forest, hence the compasses and badges. Every camper was given a first badge for participation and would get the chance to earn new badges to add to their collection during their nine week stay. Pricilla made sure that there was a badge for literally everything – from successfully starting a fire to throwing out the trash. She liked to do this to make all the campers feel included and special, which on its own sounded like a wonderful thing, however her actual motives were selfish – happy kids meant happy parents, and happy parents meant money. She also liked to turn everything into a competition, so she established a scoring system that nobody but her understood, where she’d award or deduct points from different groups and the group with the most points at the end of the summer will be crowned conquerors of the camp at a made up end-of-summer event Pricilla named the “Camp Will-all-hail banquet”. Caroline always found the name to be extremely tacky, but much like mostly everything that Pricilla put her finger onto, it wasn’t surprising.
JJ and Caroline had gotten assigned to Teens 2. Unsurprisingly, everyone in their group was almost their age, which seemed like somewhat of a recipe for disaster, as Caroline feared that this could result in the teens refusing to follow orders from someone who is basically their age. She was pleasantly surprised to find out that their group of teens was actually quite well-mannered and well-behaved. John B and Sarah’s teens, however, were a whole different story.
“You sure you got T2 and not T1?” panted Sarah after finally sitting down at the counselors table beside Caroline for dinner.
Caroline smirked, “Positive,” she confirmed, not being able to hide her amusement at the sight of an already tired Sarah, “Why’d you ask?”
“Oh, no reason,” said Sarah sarcastically, “Well, besides all the girls, and I’m pretty sure one of the boys, having a massive thing for John B, and them all quite literally being the spawns of Satan, hm… no reason,”
Caroline laughed at Sarah’s words, looking over at the table where her group and Sarah’s were seated at. Two of the T1 girls were giggling while telling a story, while everyone else’s attention was on them. Caroline came to the conclusion that they would be the It Girls at this year’s camp, bossing everyone around. She couldn’t help but laugh at the irony that it was Sarah who got these two as they were literally mini versions of her.
“Heard my name being called,” John B slid onto the bench across the table from the girls. Now that everyone had been sorted, the Wildcat Lodge seating area had been rearranged so that the groups would be sat together according to their ages, and the counselors would be sat together according to their groups. The head staff had their own table at the very foot of the podium, right next to where the food was, conveniently.
JJ was quick to join their group at their respective table, “What’d I miss?”
“Oh, nothing,” Caroline said nonchalantly, “Just Sarah being jealous over her girls liking John B, no biggie,” Sarah kicked her under the table, earning an, “Ow!”
John B’s eyes immediately shot up, that familiar twinkle of excitement swimming through his honey orbs, “Jealous?”
“As if,” barked Sarah, squinting her eyes at him threateningly.
“We’ll see about that, baby cakes,” John B winked, diving into his dinner.
“So,” said JJ, lowering his voice in case any of the neighboring tables were listening, “What’s the plan, guys?”
Caroline shook her head, “I don’t even know where we could start, I mean, the only clue we’ve got so far is that message we had to scrub off the rock this morning before the campers arrived…”
John B thought for a second, “Hey, wasn’t Topper paired up with her?” he said suddenly.
Caroline’s eyes widened in realization, “John B, you’re a genius!” she said, earning a proud smile from the boy, “Last night at the counting, Topper said something about feeling guilty for not offering her his jacket!” the four of them turned to look towards Topper’s table. He was sitting quietly, barely poking at his food, while the rest of his fellow counselors were having an animated conversation around him. Caroline turned back towards her friends, “Chances are he was the one who saw her last!”
“Yeah, and judging by the look of his face, he doesn’t seem too excited about it,” remarked JJ.
“Can you blame him? I’d be pissed if I was paired with Madison, too,” muttered Sarah, scrunching her nose at the leafy salad in her plate.
“Tonight at the bonfire,” said Caroline, “Sarah’s going to offer him some help with his girls, seeing as he’s dealing with all of his kids alone,”
“Hey, why me?” Sarah frowned at the plan.
“Because you’re the one who had a massive crush on him back in the day,” Caroline whispered in Sarah’s ear, resulting in Sarah kicking her under the table again. Caroline bit back a groan as she smiled forcefully, looking at the two boys in front of her, “Okay, well, sounds like we’ve got a plan.”
-------------------------------------------------
After handing out the songbooks and marshmallows to all of their teens, Caroline, JJ, Sarah and John B took a seat at their designated log next to their groups, which had somehow bonded during dinner and were all laughing together.
“Alright, settle down kids!” Pricilla said, causing everyone’s chatter to die down, “As you have already been informed, it is a Willowdale tradition to perform our very own rendition of Bomfiara every morning and night until the end of camp. The songbooks you’ve been kindly given by your counselors contain the lyrics to all of the camp songs we’re going to be singing this summer, but I’m sure that by the end of it you won’t be needing the books anymore,” Pricilla fake-laughed at her own joke while everyone just started at her blankly, “Okay, well, let’s sing!” she gave the tone and everyone started signing.
“This is so lame,” said one of the girls Caroline proclaimed as “It Girls” earlier that evening, “We’re too old for this BS,”
“You got that right,” mumbled Sarah.
“Oh, come on, I love it, it used to be our favorite tradition!” whined John B.
The two girls squealed and started pinching each other, immediately opening their songbooks and joining in on the singing, making intense eye contact with John B with their best seductive looks. Sarah rolled her eyes at the scene.
“See?” she whispered to Caroline, “This is what I meant!”
Caroline smirked at the blonde girl, “Am I sensing… jealousy?”
Sarah scoffed at the remark, “Pf, yeah right,” she said defensively, “I’m just annoyed that they’re only listening to what he’s saying and we’re supposed to be counselors together.”
Caroline nodded slowly, pretending to be buying the story, “Yeah, sure,” she turned to look at Topper, who regardless of the fact that he was surrounded by his group and fellow counselors, still seemed down, the camp fire illuminating his distant face, “Speaking of together, when do you wanna go talk to Topper?”
Sarah followed Caroline’s gaze towards the boy, “Once this stupid song is over,”
Caroline nodded and both girls turned towards their group again, where the It Girls were still making sexy eyes at John B, who seemed totally clueless to their approach as he was belting the lyrics of the much familiar song out loud, waving JJ’s hands every so often.
Once the song was over and everyone got back to their regular chitchat, Sarah stood up and straightened her shorts and camp sweatshirt as she made her way towards Topper.
“Hey, Top, this seat taken?” she said, referring to the empty spot on the log next to him where Madison was supposed to be sat.
Topper looked at Sarah as if she’d just said a distasteful joke, “Hey, Sarah…” he muttered, “Obviously not,”
“Awesome!” Sarah smiled widely, plopping down next to the boy.
“So,” Topper started awkwardly, “What brings you here?”
“Saw you from across the pit,” she explained directly, “Couldn’t help but notice that you seem lonely,”
“Yeah, well,” Topper looked at her with a look of disapproval once again, “I sort of am,”
Sarah pretended to only just realize what he was talking about, “Riiight… So, about that,” she chirped again, “Last night you said something about a jacket?”
Topper sighed, “Yeah, Madison said she was cold when we were in our cabin and instead of offering her my jacket, I sort of felt… relieved that she was going to leave me for a second to go grab hers. I should’ve known that something was wrong when she was gone for over 10 minutes, instead I just laughed around with Kelce and the boys and then we heard the scream…”
Sarah rolled her eyes, “Oh, please, you’re not blaming yourself for it, are you?”
“I mean, I kinda am,” Topper confessed, “If I wasn’t too caught up in being annoyed that I’d been paired up with her, I’d have just given her my jacket or followed her to your cabin to get hers and none of this would’ve happened,”
Sarah tried putting on her best apologetic smile as she reached for Topper’s hand, taking him by surprise, “Look, Top, I hate Madison just as much as the next person, but I hardly think any of this was your fault. She probably just used the jacket as an excuse to ditch and got excited to see her rookie boyfriend, hence the scream,”
Topper frowned, “Don’t tell me you actually believe all that?”
Sarah shrugged, “I mean, she was a drama queen,”
Topper pulled his hands away from Sarah’s, shaking his head, “Just go, Sarah,”
Sarah looked over towards her friends across the fire pit who were all staring at her in anticipation, as she shrugged her shoulders and mouthed them a, “Sorry, I tried,” making her way back to where they were seated.

If I was writing HSMTMTS S3
So, we know the drama kids go to theater camp:
Have the theater camp be run by Ashlyn and EJ’s grandmother: Penny Caswell
This would lead to Caswell Family Drama
which would lead to introducing the grandfather: George Caswell
We already know that George and Penny met at Duke. George was going to be a lawyer and Penny was studying theater. Penny got pregnant her senior year with Cash. She lost her chance at being a Broadway star to stay home and raise Cash (and eventually Dennis)
George bought the camp for Penny to shut up her complaints that he got to be this big shot lawyer and she never got to follow her dreams. George doesn’t understand/like musicals/theater.
George is close with Ashlyn, while Penny is close with EJ. Penny doesn’t mind that EJ is still exploring life, while George is furious that EJ isn’t going to Duke. Penny internally sees a lot of herself in Ashlyn and therefore pushes her extremely hard.
When Ash and EJ introduce Gina and Big Red, it’s Big Red who Penny doesn’t like. She thinks he is below Ashlyn’s standards and spends all summer trying to set Ashlyn up with another boy at the camp who has huge dreams.
Gina, for the first time in her life, is settled and happy. She helps EJ discover what he wants in life and helps EJ and Ashlyn with their family troubles.
Enter Ricky... He brings Lily along with him to summer theater camp. Lily puts on a fake front, but Gina senses that she is being fake.
Soon, an instagram account is created and begins bullying the East High Drama kids: Putting a pig’s nose on a pic of Ashlyn, a DUNCE cap on a pic of Seb, etc. One picture is revealed during each episode starting with 2 and ending with 7/8. All these pictures were taken at camp. So, the instagram has to be run by someone there. Gina, Kourtney, Big Red, and Carlos are the loudest voices telling Ricky that its Lily. But Ricky continues to defend her.
Gina call out Lily at one of the campfire sing-a-longs and Lily acts all dumb and hurt. Ricky and Gina argue (#Rina angst). Big Red breaks them apart and pulls Ricky aside. Red tries to reason with Ricky and explain why everyone thinks its Lily. Ricky blows up at Red and complains that the reason he’s team Lily is because ever since Big Red started dating Ashlyn, he’s changed and doesn’t have time for Ricky. Big Red goes off (#Redky angst)
Howie, seeing how Lily’s lies are pulling the friend group apart, pulls Kourtney aside and admits Lily stole the harness and he knew about it. Kourtney fumes. Breaks up with Howie and we get a girl bonding moment with her and Gina and Ashlyn. Kourtney shifts focus on making costumes for the camp’s summer musicale. Her costume prowess impresses Penny and Penny offers Kourtney a job at Caswell Camp anytime she would like one and writes her a letter of recommendation to Kourtney’s top college.
After Lily posted the Seb picture with a DUNCE cap on him, Seb confides in Carlos that he is dyslexic and learning is hard for him and when people put him down or call him stupid, it really hurts. Carlos decides that he comes from money and decides (with Seb’s permission) to hire Seb an amazing tutor to help him with school.
So, to recap: Ricky is fighting with EVERYONE, EJ is fighting with his grandpa, Ashlyn with her grandma, EVERYONE but Lily is mad at Ricky, Howie and Kourtney are on the outs but Queen Kourtney is thriving elsewhere.
As for Miss Jenn and Mr. Mazzara, Mr. M took the California Job and Miss Jenn is trying to make it work with Mike, but with every passing day she regrets it. She talks to Penny about her troubles. Penny explains her story with George and Miss Jenn realizes she wants Mr. Mazzara, that she is forcing herself to work in Mike’s life, but her and Ben just click.
CUTE COUPLE MOMENTS:
3x05: It’s the 4th of July and this episode contains the Seblos talk about Seb having dyslexia. In this episode, Seb confides in Carlos and Carlos decides he will do any activity that Seb wants to do that day. At night, during the fireworks, Carlos had EJ and Big Red spell out “I LOVE YOU SEB” in fireworks. Seb says ILY2 and they kiss under the fireworks.
3x08: Big Red is fed up with Penny trying to push Ashlyn closer to the camp guy and during a conversation with Ashlyn, he gets super short and testy. Ashlyn puts it together that Red is worried again that he’s not enough for her and tells her grandma to back off. She loves Big Red. It dawns on her what she just admitted and plans to tell Big Red under the star light (since lights are their thing). She drags him to a midnight picnic under the stars and they say their ILYs.
Portwell are cute all season. EJ defends his relationship with Gina to his grandfather pretty early in the season. They are full of fluff all season... until 3x12. EJ decides to go to Penn State (or any out of Utah college) for communications and videography. And Gina (once again) gets the rug pulled out from under her, and confused about what that means for her and EJ.
After her talk with Penny in 3x10, Miss Jenn misses the beginning of the camp musicale in 3x11 and flies to California to confess her feelings for Mr. Mazzara. They finally kiss and Mr. M admits California isn’t for him. He’s more of a Utah guy anyway.
Howie tries all summer to get Kourtney’s forgiveness, but she just won’t budge. During the camp musicale he sings another AMAZING ballad and says an impromptu speech about how in awe he is of her and how he screwed up. Kourtney is touched and agrees to start again but he has to gain her trust back.
George and Penny have a sweet moment in 3x11 or 3x12 after he watches Ashlyn and EJ sing and starts to see what Penny sees in the musical/theater stuff.
Ricky, being on the rocks with all his friends, starts to wonder if they were right about Lily. He steals her phone while she’s taking a swim in the lake and sees that she truly is the one behind the horrible pictures of his friends. He confronts her the morning of the musicale and they break up. Throughout the musicale he makes amends with the gang, especially a really sweet Big Red/Ricky moment. Then, the season ends with Ricky looking for Gina to apologize after the show, and she's sitting in the dark, alone by the lake. He notices she’s crying and she admits she doesn’t know what her and EJ’s future is going to be. He sits besides her and wraps an arm around her. SEASON ENDS.
Musical Moments:
The East High Drama Club does another Instagram video but this time to “What Time is It”
a Miss Jenn/Penny duet (HSM’s Ms Darbus and HSMTMTS’s Ms Darbus)
a Kourtney/Ashlyn/Gina acoustic friendship song after Kourtney is hurt by Howie
George singing to Penny as a surprise after he understands her love of musicals for the first time
of course a bunch of others, but that all depends on what musical they do.
If you made it this far, thanks for reading! I liked season 2, but it wasn’t cohesive. Plots were dropped and the core of the characters and friendships were lost or forgotten. I feel like although the characters would be going through individual drama, all their drama is connected and plots aren’t dropped the next episode. Also, I’m neither a Portwell or a Rina, I ship more of Gina and happiness so I tried to give both Portwells and Rinas stuff they would enjoy.
P.S. NiNi is in California writing/recording music. I don’t think Olivia is likely coming back so I had all this in mind without NiNi being on the show.
NEW CAST:
Alyson Reed as Penny Caswell (uhhh hello! Having the OG Ms Darbus apart of HSMTMTS would be perfect!)
Tumblr media
Jon Lindstrom as George Caswell (you guys probably don’t know him but he’s a goooood actor, works for ABC who is owned by Disney, and can sing)

“Dad,” she aggressively shoved the bottle of sunscreen into his hand, “Dad just put it on.”
“No,” Tig tossed it over onto the towel, “I’m not putting that on. I don’t need it. I’ll be fine.”
Rolling her eyes, she picked the bottle back up. She squeezed a generous amount onto her hand and then proceeded to slap it onto his chest, “You’re tough but you’re not tougher than the fucking sun. Get over yourself.”
He groaned as he looked down at the mess of lotion that was on him now, “You fucking kidding me, T?”
“Nope,” she shook her head as she rubbed some into her own arms and legs.
Once she was done, she looked around to see who else was close. She loved all the boys in the club, but she would be the first to tell them all when they were being idiots. She was adamant about the whole sunscreen thing ever since they all decided to do a beach day together. The guys had given her shit about it at first, wondering when she became so concerned with those kinds of things, but when it came down to it the last thing they wanted was the pain that came from serious sunburn. So, most of them silently put some on, refusing to make eye contact with each other and acknowledge the situation.
“Kozik!” she called over to the man who was laying out towels for each of them.
His head whipped up, instantly looking over at her, “Yea?”
“You got some on?” she waved the bottle in his direction.
“Let him get burned,” Tig mumbled under his breath as he wiped away the last of the lotion that his daughter had caught him with.
Tawnie ignored the comment, shaking her head slightly as she waited for Kozik’s answer. He made his way over to her, reassuring her that, yes, he had put some on the second they got to the beach. He knew that there was no way she was going to let him get away with anything else, and she was the last person that he wanted to be pissing off.
“Can you get my back?” she asked as she handed him the bottle, pulling her hair out of the way.
“Um,” he could feel Tig’s eyes boring into him, “sure.”
Kozik silently prayed to whatever gods there were that Tig wasn’t going to pick him up and drown him in the ocean. He tried to focus on the task at hand, but he also wondered if that would make things worse. And she must’ve sense the tension, too, because she glanced back over her shoulder and looked at her father, eyebrows raised.
“You want him to get your back too, Dad?” she asked.
Kozik’s entire body froze up as he waited for the fallout. Surprisingly enough, Tig just sighed and shook his head before turning and walking down towards the water, “Those hands go below her shoulders and you’re a fucking dead man, Kozik.”
She chuckled quietly as he finished applying the sunscreen, “He’s full of it. You know that, right?”
“You sound pretty confident but I’m not so sure,” he chuckled as he closed the bottle and tossed it back into her bag.
“If he was going to kill you, he totally would have done it already.”
“That’s…that’s not as reassuring as you think it is.”
She laughed as she pressed her palms flat against his chest and pressed a light kiss to his lips, “Just relax. Who knows when we’re going to be able to all have a fun day together.”
“And what are you going to spend your fun day doing? Besides assaulting people with sunblock?”
She gave him a playful shove, “Shut up. I’m gonna go fucking swimming, duh. I haven’t been to the beach in ages,” she paused, tilting her head slightly, “What’re you gonna do?”
“Watch you swim,” a smirk crept across his face.
She couldn’t stop herself from laughing. It’d been an interesting, and slightly bumpy, road for the two of them to get to where they were at now. But she was happy about it, about him. And despite the constant pushback from her father, there was a certain type of ease and comfort that came from being with him. She knew that she wouldn’t have ever been able to be with someone who didn’t understand the type of life she lived, and no one understood it better than a man who was actually SAMCRO. But as she stood there looking at him, smiling with a few streaks of sunscreen still on his cheeks, he was more than just a guy from the MC. She never knew what it felt like to date someone who was your best friend until then.
She snapped herself out of her sappy thoughts with a shake of her head, “Don’t let my dad catch you leering.”
“I thought you said he was full of it?”
“I mean,” she laughed as she skipped off towards the water, “nothing is a hundred percent.”
He shook his head and watched her as she took off to go swim and cause whatever kinds of trouble she could manage to stir up along the way. Being with a Trager was a lot of things, but it was certainly never boring.
The afternoon sun was beating down on all of them. Most of them had found their way back to their chairs and towels and started digging into the food and drinks that they had brought with them. Tawnie was camped out on her towel, watching the volleyball game that was happening. Her father and Opie were pitted against Jax and Kozik, and to all of their credit it was shaping up to be a pretty competitive game. But she did notice the fact that Tig’s shoulders were getting redder and redder as the minutes went by—clearly he hadn’t put any extra sunscreen on except what she had forced on him. She shook her head silently, a smug smile creeping across her face. He’d have to learn the hard way, the way that he did with most things.
“Game point!” she called out before taking a sip of her beer.
“Better win this one for your girl, Kozik,” Jax quipped with a laugh.
She chuckled but she could see it on her father’s face that he was not at all amused by the comment. He dove, saving the ball from hitting the sand. There was now a new level of determination and desire to win. He never wanted Kozik to win at anything, but now there was an extra layer on top of it all.
The four of them were going back and forth for a while. Tawnie sat back, unable to hide the fact that she was incredibly impressed by them. Her eyes went wide when she saw Kozik jump up, spiking the ball down onto the other side of the net with an incredible amount of force. She couldn’t contain her laughter as she started clapping.
“Way to bring it home!” she beamed over at him.
“Lucky shot,” Tig said, already shaking his head.
Despite the tension that had been present during the game, once it was over everything went back to business as usual, which Tawnie was incredibly thankful for.
Tig was walking ahead, talking to Jax and Opie while she hung back with Kozik. She slipped her hand into his as they walked, smiles on both of their faces.
“You think it’s alright that I didn’t let him win?” he asked with a smirk.
She laughed, nodding, “It’s good for him. I’m thinking of it as karma for not using sunblock.”
“I think the blisters that are gonna be on his shoulders tomorrow will be karma enough.”
“Maybe,” she laughed, leaning against his side.
He glanced down at her, admiring her still-damp hair and the little patches of sand that were still stuck to parts of her stomach and arms. She looked so at home at the beach, and he had never felt more at home than when he felt her pressed up against his side.
“We should do this shit more often,” he said as they walked along the shore, waves lapping at their feet.
“Yea, well,” she chuckled, “When you guys take a break from your life of crime, we can do big family beach days whenever you want.”
“I’ll bring it up in church next time.”
She laughed, “Well,” she lifted their interlocked hands and kissed his knuckles, “you gotta let me know how that conversation goes.”
“If I live through it, you’ll be the first to know,” he smiled as he wrapped an arm around her waist.
The sound of Tig’s voice cut through the softness of their moment, “Hey! I said no hands below the shoulders!”

i don't really have an explanation (i.)
When Percy started his senior year in yet another school, he promised himself he would try his best to make sure nothing strange happened; sure, it wasn’t really up to him monster-wise, but he could at least try not to say anything strange to his new classmates or curse in ancient Greek. Besides, the last two years had been a mess and, with his kidnapping, it was not like he had much to say when he was told to introduce himself the first day of class -‘’hey, my name is Percy Jackson, my dad is a Greek god, and I was kidnapped last year and my memories were erased; oh, and I like blue food!’’. Yeah, that probably wouldn’t work.
Thus, Percy was known as the quiet and reserved kid in his school. This was a first for him; sure, he’d never had many friends, but he was always causing trouble. This time, however, he knew that Annabeth would kill him if, for any reason, he messed this school year up and he couldn’t go to New Rome University. He made friends -a first, excluding Grover and Tyson, who didn’t really count if you kept in mind that, well, they were his protector and his brother, and a satyr and a cyclops. He didn’t tell his friends much about him -his step-dad was an English teacher, he had been expelled from way too many schools, he had ADHD and dyslexia, he was very athletic, and he was going to try and join the swim team. He made sure to exclude everything that could be linked to his other life -he didn’t talk about his summer camp, his other friends, his huge dog, his father, or his girlfriend; Percy liked how both things didn’t go together, and he felt like it made everything easier. Whenever he talked, he sounded like a normal seventeen-year-old, and he was glad about that. He had had enough of monsters for a lifetime and, even if a hydra or a hellhound bothered him every other day, he could truly say that he could see a future for him and Annabeth that didn’t include them dying in the next five months. All in all, things were good.
When his school organized a homecoming football game, however, he did invite Annabeth; she was in a boarding school in the city, but it wasn’t that hard for her to sneak out with her New York Yankees cap, and he did want her there; it was a milestone for them. After all, Percy wasn’t supposed to reach senior year. They had agreed on meeting at the school; Percy had told Annabeth he’d meet her at the entrance once she texted him that she was close, since he was already at the bleachers with his friends. He wasn’t used to having a phone yet, however, which, in his opinion, gave him an excuse as to why he wasn’t checking his texts. Moreover, his ADHD tended to slow time down for him, so he was pretty sure that he still had thirty minutes before Annabeth was supposed to arrive.
‘’I swear, man, she was the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen,’’ his friend Matthew said, leaning over Kayla so he could see him.
‘’You say that about every girl you meet.’’
‘’I don’t say that about you,’’ Matthew told Kayla, who elbowed him in the ribs and, promptly, shut him up.
Percy couldn’t help but laugh at Louis’s mocking expressions behind Matthew. He’d only known these people for less than a month, but they had accepted him into their little club as soon as they’d met him and he was infinitely grateful. As Louis opened his mouth to, probably, laugh at Matthew over his ability to fall in love at first sight everyday, Matthew and Kayla stopped laughing when they looked at Percy. Percy tensed up, his hand moving to his pocket to make sure that Riptide was with him in case he needed to kill a monster, but, when a pair of arms linked themselves around his shoulders from behind, he tensed up for a whole different reason.
‘’I didn’t think I’d see you here, Jackson,’’ a female voice said playfully close to his ear.
Percy disentangled himself from her arms and turned around to stare Mary in the eye.
‘’An athlete at a football game. Who would have though, right?’’ he ironically said.
Mary rolled her eyes and rested her hand on his shoulder. Percy had to resist the urge to slap it away, but he didn’t want to cause a scene -he knew a lot about causing scenes and, with his luck, slapping her hand away would lead to a monster trying to kill him, and he didn’t want to be expelled before he could even take his first test. He didn’t know what he’d done to gain her attention -she was popular and decidedly pretty, and he was an outcast. He knew he wasn’t bad-looking -if Piper described him as a Greek god once more, he might die; Annabeth telling him that he looked exactly like his father also didn’t help, since the two times Poseidon had shown up in the past year while he was with Annabeth had always led to Percy wondering whether his girlfriend found his father attractive-, and he spent so much time swimming that one would have to be blind not to notice that he had a nice body. However, the whole school knew about his experience with being kicked out of school, since some teachers had made sure to remind him to behave during the first week of classes, and the swim team wasn’t regarded as highly as the football or the hockey team. All in all, he wasn’t a mess -unlike thirteen-year-old Percy-, but he was guarded and serious enough not to attract the attention of preppy girls. Mary, however, seemed to be obsessed with him from the day he got her phone out of the swimming pool after she dropped it while flirting with another guy in his team -‘’keep it wet, keep it wet’’, he’d had to remind himself-, and he regretted being a nice guy ever since then. Honestly, if his mom hadn’t raised him to be such a good kid, most of the problems in his life wouldn’t have happened.
‘’You could sit with us if you wanted,’’ Mary told him, signaling to her girl friends.
Percy knew the invitation only extended to him and not to his friends, who were quiet during the conversation. They had been at that school for three years, so they knew Mary and her gang, and Percy knew they sometimes wondered why he didn’t drop them for the popular kids. He also knew that he would rather face the Minotaur again than sit with the popular kids.
‘’I’m quite happy where I am, thanks,’’ he politely answered, trying to end the chat before he said anything rude.
‘’But you would have more fun with us, I’m sure,’’ Mary insisted, running her finger down his arm.
In moments like this, he almost missed being the young kid he was when he first arrived to camp, skinny and short and with a voice way too high for anyone to consider him a man.
‘’No, thanks,’’ he said again, using his other arm to take his phone out of his pocket, hoping Annabeth wouldn’t take much longer. ‘’Besides, I’m waiting-‘’
‘’Perseus Jackson!’’
‘’Man, I am going to need a massage after this’’, he though as he tensed again. He noticed his friends drive their attention away from Mary, who had also looked towards the origin of the voice with furrowed brows, her finger still on Percy’s arm. Before turning around, Percy quickly looked at the time on his phone, silently cursing in Greek as he saw the multiple texts and missed calls that he clearly hadn’t heard.
‘’Why is there a beautiful blonde goddess walking towards Percy, yelling his full name and looking like she wants to kill him?’’ Matthew quietly asked, forcing Percy to stifle a laugh.
He turned around slowly, half-expecting her to have a dagger at his neck. She was still far enough for him to be able to think of a few excuses, but he knew that wouldn’t work. Man, he had been offended the first time she’d called him Seaweed Brain, but she’d really hit the nail on the head.
‘’I can explain,’’ he said while she was still a few metres away.
‘’Explain, then,’’ she told him, now standing in full height before him. He was quite taller than her, but a standing Annabeth with folded arms and a stormy look in her eyes before a sitting Percy who knew he’d messed up was definitely scary.
‘’I…’’ he started. ‘’I didn’t think I’d get this far, honestly. I think this might be the first time you let me explain and I’m not ready for this responsibility.’’
He knew that was the right answer -her eyes were now shining with mirth and he could tell he was holding back a smile. She still had her arms crossed, but he figured she wasn’t going to kill him in front of so many people, so he tugged at them and forced her to sit next to him before he could regret it.
‘’I really thought it was earlier. You know how I am with the time, and I’m still not used to the phone.’’
She finally unfolded her arms and shook her head as she smiled softly, and Percy knew she wasn’t mad any longer.
‘’The fact that I have experience navigating labyrinths doesn’t mean that I want to navigate your high school, Seaweed Brain,’’ she told him.
‘’Completely understandable, Wise Girl.’’
He threw his arm around her shoulder, all his previous conversations forgotten, and he was about to ask her about her day when another voice interrupted him.
‘’Excuse me, Percy, but who is this?’’ Mary asked from behind him.
Annabeth turned around, a fake smile on her lips as she took in the brunette girl sitting behind her.
‘’His girlfriend,’’ Annabeth said. ‘’Nice to meet you.’’
She offered Mary her hand, though still wrapped around Percy’s arm, and Mary took it automatically, a shocked expression on her face. Her friends looked back between her and Annabeth, equally confused.
‘’His girlfriend?’’ Matthew whisper-yelled.
Both Louis and Kayla nudged him with their elbows, earning a laugh from Percy, which made Annabeth look at them with a raised eyebrow.
‘’Guys, this is Annabeth, my girlfriend,’’ Percy introduced. ‘’Beth, these are Kayla, Matthew and Louis.’’
‘’You’ve mentioned them,’’ Annabeth said, extending her hand and offering a real smile. ‘’It’s nice to meet you. Anybody who manages to put up with Percy deserves to be admired.’’
‘’Hey!’’ Percy whined.
His friends sat there, flabbergasted, but he didn’t really mind. Sure, he could have told them in advance, but he also didn’t think it was that important that he had a girlfriend; he was not the first guy in school to have one, and he definitely wouldn’t be the last.
He didn’t have time to talk any more before the game started, but he did manage to hear Matthew whispering to Kayla and Louis as the players made it to the field.
‘’So not only is Percy the hottest guy at school, but he’s also dating the hottest girl in New York? How is that fair?’’
Percy smiled softly and pressed Annabeth closer to him, enjoying her warmth and having her next to him. This was how things were supposed to be.

Never Have I ever S2
SPOILERS.....Turn back now I’m serious.
I’m waiting....
Okay cool your fault at this point
I was fairly critical of NHIE S1, I won’t lie. And I’ll be real I still stand by the fact that NHIE S1 was fairly meh overall.
But holy shit, they knocked this season outta the world man. The show really really found its proper footing this season. They were smart to keep the cheating for only two episodes and explore the repercussion for the other 8.
1.Devi Vishwakumar.
Let’s start with the main character.  Devi still does immensely fucked up shit this season. Dating two boys and have them find out in the MOST humiliating way possible. Yikes. Being a really sucky friend to Aneesa and starting that rumour about her (inadvertently) and pretending to her. Stalking her mother and being possessive of her. The really awful apology that was pretty self centred, a bit not good.
But she really does do her best to improve and I am SO proud of that. She uses her father’s advice and apologizes better to Aneesa, she actually handled the Ben and Aneesa dating WAAAAY better than I’ve seen some people handle things like that. I might’ve blown a fuse if two of my friends had 4 tickle fights and had major PDA sessions when we were trying to do a group project. Like she handled that shit fairly well all things considered. Devi actually gets into the beginnings of delving into her trauma and her temporary paralysis and healing from it. I
really see how the label ‘crazy’ weighs on her and how she blew up with it and the message of destigmatizing mental illness. (Crazy Aneesa and Crazy Devi)  Her properly bonding with her mother and watching videos of her father and remembering/honouring his memory hit REALLY HARD (since I lost many people in my family recently and that fear of forgetting them has been real). Devi is actually beginning to heal from the loss of her father by strengthening the relationship with her Amma. And the slap from Paati was so so needed, it really gave her a better respect of her mother and fixed the problem I had with Devi mouthing off so much to her Amma. I live to see good maamiyar marumagal relationships. Her relationship with Paxton is really good and it gets developed very logically and having her be scared of being pathetic but in the end she accepted her own self worth and stopped chasing after them which was good.
Overall Devi really blossomed into her own developing person and I actually like her so much more this season.
2. Paxton Hall Yoshida
I was honestly, like genuinely sad last season he was like 80% eye candy with not much else going for him. Paxton had so much faith as a character and Ms Kaling has really pulled him into such a better person this season.
Paxton got hit by a car before swim season, lost his ticket to college and wow, got two timed by a girl he liked all in two episodes. If he was salty about that for more than one season I would’ve completely accepted it. Cause that’s a bad public humiliation.
Paxton episode really really made me love him as a character (honestly more so than Ben) I think because I heard Paxton’s entire worry and irritation that he was being underestimated and no one really expected him to go to college from a friend of mine not more than a month ago. That shit is real, and it hurted my friends a lot that people were really underestimating them and just seeing them as a dumb athlete who has no hope of college. It’s really nice to see Paxton actually want to go to college and learn Japanese American side with his Oji-chan giving him advice and supporting him. And him bringing his grandfather to speak about the internment camps, that seriously do not get spoken about enough.
Also him putting effort and making a genuine effort to work hard and bring up his grades with Devi and therefore bonding with her was really nice to see. I wouldn’t mind them being endgame but Devi does really work a lot better as his pushy Indian mom/best friend/tutor.  And Devi getting mad at him for him expecting him to hold his hand throughout really hit well. Was it deserved yeah. But Devi also did blow him off after promising him to study so his anger is justified there. I’m just kinda vibing with Paxton like coming up and taking a better interest in school and being a full 3D character. And that one scene where he gives the extra credit presentation and Trent high fives the man. Classic.
Can I also just say, it’s kinda valid that Paxton didn’t want to date her in public. Is it a dick move...yeah? But he’s within his rights to ask and she’s within her rights to deny. And he didn’t press her once she said no, he went along with it. And what Devi pulled on him is awful, and speaking as someone who’s seen popular kid cliques. Reputation really is important. Like what Devi did made Paxton lose face, if he gets back with Devi he ain’t gonna have any respect left in him. And Paxton was pretty right in deciding to not date her publicly, like even in the end he knows that his reputation is shot for what he did. Do we even know if Paxton has friends that aren’t fixated on his social status? Because becoming a social pariah without having any support of friends is gonna hurt like a bitch. Lord knows how Paxton gonna deal with it. I think Trent might be his only homie after the social downfall he will inevitably face.
I’m just gonna say, Paxton is my favourite now and I’m really rooting for him. Something I decidedly did not do last season. I’m happy Ms Kaling developed him so much and got me interested.
3. Ben Gross
Ah. Ben. Ben’s not my faaavouriteee.......like he’s fine. But I don’t love him. I can definitely see him and Devi becoming an almost endgame couple though. Especially with S2 ending.
Ben is fine and he’s pretty developed, especially with his episode in S1 and it was good he took a backseat this season and let everyone else star. I feel like he’ll come back strong next season though.
Personally do I ship him with Devi? No. I’ve been in a friendship with the similar competitive dynamic as Ben and Devi. And it was terrible. We loved to argue and we got each other’s super brainy side as Devi puts it. But we pushed each other faar too much and even the small things became arguments and each pthers achievements became jealousy. So yeah....I don’t have too much faith in the dynamic due to personal bias, but I’d love to see how it gets handled.
Also my brother Ben, PDA is a thing and it is common courtesy to refrain from it. Man’s really going at it with Aneesa half the time. But also the moment where Aneesa sort of choked on the presentation and Ben’s irritation at it gave me BAAAD vibes. It feels like while Devi can match him, they might push each other too far,
4. Kamala
I LOVE KAMALA. Girl is an ENTIRE vibe. My sweetheart, love of my life. I could go on. I really like her development as well and the banter between her and Nalini. The part where Nalini practically said she looked like a call girl and she was like ippadi potathaan velaila mariyaatha kidaikum. I legit had to pause, scream in laughter for a good few seconds.
They had such a good story with her and wanting to fight against the fact that they took her work and didn’t credit her and everyone was telling her to like take it bowing. Prasanth’s advice unfortunately checked out to me, because I’ve been told that all my life. My dad says it a lot and I know he doesn’t say it cause’ he doesn’t believe in me, but he loves me and wants my life to be easier and for me to succeed and his experience is that he’s had to deal with things like this and fighting won’t help. So yeah, what Prasanth said did not rub me the wrong way at all and I agreed with it and I’m fairly disappointed about that. I get that she got nervous and had cold feet about marriage but I do hope she and Prasanth can work this out through communication. Because I really don’t feel like Prasanth is the bad guy here. It’s just a miscommunication.
So yeah, a LOT of Kamala’s storyline continues to really hit me hard.
5. Nalini Vishwakumar
Nalini really had so much more screentime to blossom. I love that she has a good relationship with Mohan’s amma. It’s wonderful and I love it. Also I was shocked to see the house in Chennai. Like this house...in Chennai. The Chennai I’m used to and the Chennai they are used to are different Chennai’s. Basically wealth gap is crazy as hell and I was lowkey highkey confused if the actually shot this shit in Chennai. But props to the directors for putting some proper Tamil vibes in there. Like the scene where they kaala thottu kumbudurathu (touch the elder’s feet) before they leave for the US is so real and so vibes. I like that they decided to bring paati back. I was like hoping for it.
Also they really went at developing Nalini’s character as a workaholic mom who doesn’t get her daughter. That’s also a really common thing in Indian households with one working parent so I’m happy they portrayed that. I’m happy Nalini actually has a life outside her family portrayed and is still such a typical mother that it hits HARD. I love Nalini and she really developed as a character dealing with grief from Mohan’s death, the wish to move on with Dr.Jackson but knowing that she isn’t ready yet.
They gave her character a life and proper working outside Devi and it really has shown to develop her character and impact her relationship with Devi. The advice to “just say yes” works with cousins and younger siblings as well, I’ve heard it before and used it..and it saves so much time. Especially with small children.
(A memory I have is of my younger cousin going on and on about a princess and a castle and fighting a dragon and the witches and so much fantasy shit and ended with do you wanna come? I just clocked off my CCA’s and I had no energy left to question it so I just went yeah sure. Easiest decision, and 10/10 advice. )
6. Aneesa
I’m not gonna lie. I was skeptical of Aneesa and I didn’t like how Devi saw her in the trailer. But Aneesa reminds me so much of me....and its killing me.
Also the scene where she charms the hell out of Nalini and paati ma has literally happened to me before. Most of my Indian friends hate it..because I was raised with a lot more traditional manners with my grandparents so me and my siblings all are old fashioned which parents LOVE. And I really saw that Aneesa charming them and Devi also realizing, Damn none of my friends actually treat my family the way they should be treated, perks of having an Indian friend.
Also the scene where she gets Devi out of trouble is so so real. Because if you have one responsible friend that you parents trust, you could lie the hell to them, get you homie to back you up and it will work. Personal experience. So yeah, Aneesa character resonated with me a lot.
I also like that she wasn’t just a popular 1D Indian girl but she was genuinely cool and actually had proper issues and development where she gets more open to Sherman Oaks and actually kinda properly rebels against Noor, with having Ben as a boyfriend.
I feel like Aneesa has a lot more potential for growth, especially with the relationship with Ms Noor and Aneesa acting as a foil to Nalini and Devi’s. Also, I feel like Aneesa can grow within her social status at school as well and have Devi maturely handle it. Aneesa I feel will really really challenge Devi’s ability to be mature.
7. Eleanor and Fabiola’s plotlines
Okay like actually, major props to Ms Kaling man. This show touches so so many teen issues in one goddamn show. Emotionally manipulative relationships. So SO good. A lot of newer age relationships have a much more subtle and dangerous line of abuse that’s hard to find out. Like honestly it took me a while to see it as well and I realized oh fuck. oh fuck...I see it it’s bad. They really got the essence of Eleanor’s flamboyance matching with Malcom? (is it Malcolm..fuck it it’s Malcolm now) his “suaveness” and traditionally charming tendency. It made sense and it’s very realistic how Eleanor got played like a damn fiddle. I also again feel that the make up was faar to quick but I really appreciate that Eleanor got her own storyline with her step-mom and understanding of relationships instead of the show hyperfocusing on just Devi. I respect that a lot.  Petition to get a Eleanor narration episode.
Fabiola’s storyline also was well taken. It’s an interesting added layer to the queer experience and how queerness can be expected to be performative and but really its all about being more of yourself. The idea that queer people don’t owe nobody anything or have to perform an ideal version of queerness and Fabiola struggling with that kinda hit. The part where they talked about her mother learning to support them and being Cricket? Queen/King. Like being trailblazers for the POC community and the LGBTQ+ community having overlapping struggles. Again, I liked that Fabiola was getting more personal screentime and less of her story revolving around Devi’s.
8. Everything else
I liked that there was more Tamil being casually thrown around. Like the Kamala vaadi to hold the suitcase down as they zipped it together was funny and relatable. The accents were really interesting because I promise you, I had no clue what they were saying sometimes. Nalini’s dialogues in Tamil were like immensely difficult to understand, and my Tamil is fluent. This isn’t a criticism... I’m fairly certain the difference is to do with the regional difference. American Tamil and Malaysian + rural Tamil slang are going to have huge accent differences so there’s no surprise that I found Nalini’s Tamil hard to understand.
I’m really really really meh about the Kamala and Manish/Mr Kulkarni thing. I still think she should sort it out with Prasanth maybe but I’m open to seeing where it goes. I might change my mind with it.
This show like any other show had its highs and lows. But I really really do feel that NHIE season 2 managed to truly figure out what the hell it wants to do and developed into a very strong and very entertaining show in terms of representation and diversity. I’m looking forward to season 3.

Camp Choas
(See the description if you’re confused I put it under the Camp Chaos tag)
Part 5/5
Raya, weirdly enough, woke up with no alarm necessary. It wasn’t like her body to wake up by choice this early. The Heart girl groaned as her stomach churned painfully. ‘Oh so I get to deal with a random stomach ache on my last day of camp. What a splendid day this will be,’ Raya thought sarcastically. She popped a mint in her mouth and waited for the pain to subside. Once it finally stopped, she scarfed down breakfast before calling Sisu to tell her that Raya is up early and can head to camp.
“Wow what’s the occasion?” Sisu asked Raya as they walked into the car. “You would never be up this early. Especially not for camp.”
Raya sighed and rubbed her eyes. “I don’t know if I’m being honest. I mean I woke up out of nowhere and my stomach started hurting. I feel fine now, it was just a crummy start to the morning. God I just want this day to over,” Raya whined as her best friend laughed.
“Don’t stress it’s our last day! Besides, I’m surprised you want this week to end. You’ve gotten pretty close with Namaari these past five days,” the blue haired girl said rather smugly. Raya’s face heated up as she hastily looked away. “Sisu, you’re exaggerating. Besides I think I actually did something that made her upset yesterday, “ Raya told her, frowning at the way her dear rival acted around her.
Considering the fact that both Raya and Namaari were daughters of two chiefs in Kumandra, they always had a bit of rivalry, one always attempting to outdo the other. There was never any malicious intent, it’s always been closer to friendly competition. But ever since Raya accidentally took Namaari down with her during the relay race with the kids, Namaari has been acting Raya kicked a baby serlot.
Sisu rose an eyebrow at Raya’s reply but let it go since the girls just arrived in camp. Raya made eye contact with Namaari as she stopped out of her car and, just like yesterday, Namaari gave her a very cold shoulder. ‘You know what, I think I’ll just focus on getting through another day with the kids and I'll just talk to Namaari when we clean up camp,’ Raya thought.
The day went as slowly as the previous four, with Raya having to use her bitch voice way more than usual. The Heart girl’s throat was starting to croak because of how much she was having to raise her voice. Not to mention it was definitely the hottest day in all of camp. And naturally, the girls couldn’t swim today since the schedule was different. The icing on this absolutely horrendous cake was the fact that Namaari still refused to look her in the eye.
“Hey Miss Raya?” one of her campers called. “What’s up girl?” Raya asked. (she definitely doesn’t call all of her campers girl because she doesn’t remember their names or anything-)
“Can you grab my jacket from the closet in the office?” her little camper asked. Raya raised an eyebrow and asked, “Now what exactly were you doing in there?” The little girl shrugged and said, “I wanted to find a place to keep my jacket safe.” Raya sighed before nodding and going into the closet.
A couple of seconds later, the door opens again and Namaari walks through. Both girls are shocked seeing the other there, but then they turn panicked as the door shuts behind them and they hear a lock.
“Hey what’s going on out there?” Raya asked in a somewhat patient voice. “We need you two to stay in there until you stop having problems!” one of Raya’s campers told her. Raya sighed irritably and tried her very best not to scream. “Look Miss Namaari and I are just fine so please unlock this door,” Raya told her. Raya could practically see the brat shaking her head now.
“Believe me it’s for your own good!” called another voice. The difference is that this voice belongs to a little boy. Raya could see Namaari’s jaw clench as she said, “Aran, what is the meaning of this?” It became clear to Raya that the boy was one of Namaari’s campers.
“You two need to make up so that we can all play together again!” Aran told them. Namaari opened her mouth before Raya cut her off. “Well, I would like to know what’s up with the harsh treatment today. I’ve been meaning to talk to you about what’s wrong with you,” Raya told the taller girl.
Namaari sighed and shook her head. “Is now really the best time?” the Fang princess asked. Raya shrugged and said, “Well there’s no time like the present.” Namaari groaned at the response before sagging her shoulders. “Fine,” the girl relented.
“So why have you been acting up around me? I know we were always a bit competitive, but you’ve never been so cold to me. I already apologised for accidentally tackling you I just don’t know where else I went wrong,” Raya honestly told her. Namaari raised an eyebrow. “Wait, you think I’m upset because you pulled me to the ground?” the Fang girl asked.
Raya nodded. “Well yeah why else would you be acting up?” Raya wondered. Namaari couldn’t help but chuckle at her confusion. “Since I apparently haven’t made myself very clear, I’ll be more direct,” Namaari told her. The taller girl bent down lightly pecked Raya on the lips and oh wow. Raya.exe has stopped functioning please try again tomorrow.
“I-uh-what-huh?!” Raya exclaimed. Namaari let out a full blown laugh after seeing Raya’s reaction. “Alright, I’ll tell you why I’ve been acting so harsh towards you. I thought that I was making it very clear that I have romantic feelings for you, which is why I’ve been taking extra time to mess with you all week. I could tell you took great pleasure in returning the favor, so I thought it meant you liked me back. But when you denied any feelings for me in front of the campers it just…..it hurt. I thought it was your way of rejecting me,” Namaari told her.
Raya’s mouth stay open in shock. “Wait…..you were flirting with me?” Raya asked in surprise. Namaari snorted before nodding. “Have been for the past six years but yeah thanks for noticing,” Namaari grinned. Raya’s brain was having so much trouble trying to do the math. Thankfully, Namaari’s voice interrupted her thoughts.
“In light of this news, I want to ask you directly...do you like me the way I like you?” Namaari asked with a hopeful tone in her voice. Raya got a surge of confidence and said, “Well maybe I would have an easier time deciding if you kissed me again.” The taller girl grinned and leaned in to press her lips softly against Raya’s. All of a sudden the doors flew open and their campers along with Sisu were cheering in happiness.
“Yes! I knew you two would get together!” Sisu yelled happily. Raya laughed before narrowing her eyes. “Wait…..you were out here and didn’t try to get us out of the closet? Sisu…..did you help plan this?” Raya aksed. Sisu gulped nervously and said, “well you were very sad this morning so I made a little scheme and got the kids to help me sooo RAYA PLEASE DON’T KILL ME I STILL HAVE SO MUCH TO LIVE FOR-”
Raya decided the best course of action was to throw a chair at her best friend. “I’LL SHOW YOU A LITTLE SCHEME ALRIGHT!” Raya yelled and began to chase her. Namaari smiled fondly at the sight. “Ah yes, my little murderer. Have you ever seen a more beautiful sight?” Namaari asked thoughtfully.
Needless to say, Namaari would inevitably see much more of Raya’s beauty in the days to come.

The next morning you pack the cars. Bucky throws his case in the trunk of your car.
"you riding with me?", you ask.
"yeah, Sarah wants to drive with your parents. Didn't wanna leave ya alone", he shoots a tight lipped smile in your direction.
A look of disappointment flickers on your face, but its soon replaced by a playful and childlike grin.
"okay", you giggle.
You hop in the drivers seat, Bucky buckling himself in next to you. You pull out after Sarah and your parents, following them the whole way there.
Early 2000s punk plays through the stereo. You bang your head lightly, mouthing the words to old Blink 182. Bucky chuckles softly to himself at the sight.
After an hour you pull into a garage. You leave Bucky in the car and meet Sarah at the door to the shop, you take her hand playfully and rest your head on her shoulder while you walk in. Bucky smiles.
You come back with two cokes and a bag of different snacks. You slide in next to him with a smile and a chuckle. You launch a sandwich and the coke at him, he laughs.
The rest of the drive is silent. Only another hour or so.
You arrive at the site by noon, a small enough cabin and a beautiful lake, the dark woods framing most of it.
You take your sisters hand, leading her to the room you're sharing. Your laughs echo through old, damp wood.
Sam and Steve take the master, Bucky is left with the small guest room at the end of the hallway.
The group recollects just as the sun is going down, the sky painted bright pink and orange, a gloomy forest casting haunting shadows on the site.
The fire crackles quietly while you eat. Sam tells childhood stories, the rest of you laugh and nod along. Bucky cant help but let his gaze wander to you.
Then you're pulling off your top and running towards the lake, Sarah close behind you. You're laughing as you dive gracefully into the dark water, barely making a splash. When you resurface, your head breaks in the centre of the lake. Bucky laughs, so do your parents.
You and Sarah play for a while, swimming and diving and bringing up rocks and little shiny things you find.
The first night is peaceful. Morning arrives and Steve, Sam, and Sarah go for a hike. You stay at the cabin, you sketch the rustic view from your window.
The next evening, you all sit around the fire. You drink and you laugh, you shoot Bucky soft looks all night. Its homely and peaceful. Then you pull the box of cigarettes from your pocket, you let the flames lick it alight and retreat to the edge of the lake. You're out of the way, but Steve still sighs.
"are you kidding?", he snaps at you. "now?"
"Steve", Sam mumbles, trying to calm him down. "she's all the way over there, leave her". Its to no avail.
"those things kill you, you know", he barks.
"just like you", you murmur under your breath, he cant make out what you're saying. You make yourself small, nursing your cigarette.
"what did you say?", Sarah and Sam both start trying to calm Steve, you stay silent. "answer me, Y/N!"
"stop, you're scaring Sarah", you mumble, Bucky stands up and begins to approach, ready to jump in if needed.
"This isn't about Sarah", he's shouting now. You snap then.
"It's always been about Sarah", you crush the cigarette under the toe of your boot. "I never minded when daddy got angry, but Sarah always cried when he shouted"
"stop it!"
"Remember when you broke that plate, Sarah thought daddy got the gun from the loose floorboard and shot her sister dead. Sarah who thought daddy was gonna kick Y/N out, Sarah who thought she was gonna find Y/N dead on the bathroom floor", you shout with a sick smile, you advance on him as Steve stumbles back. He throws empty threats at you, but you don't listen.
Sarah begins to cry and Sam has to carry her inside, he closes the door behind her and runs back to Steve. He pulls Steve away by the bicep and you turn back to the lake. You sit by the waters edge, lighting another cigarette as Bucky sits next to you.
You rest your head on his shoulder and he wraps his arms around you, he coos softly, half expecting you to cry. He's confused when you don't. It's a strange comparison, how Sarah went screaming, but you stood still, quiet.
"what happened, kotenok?", he purrs, soft and sweet.
You stumble over your words for a moment, "Sarah has always been more.. sensitive", you whisper, smoke drifting from your lips. "She's always been more prone to breakdowns and crying and things"
"you're like Steve, he's a suffer in silence kind of guy"
"like father like daughter, eh?"
He chuckles softly, "I guess so, yeah"
You sent him away after a while, choosing to sit by yourself. You sat there until the sun started to rise, the time Steve would normally go out for a walk. Sure enough, he came and tapped you on the shoulder.
He smiled down at you apologetically, offering his hand. You took it.
"wanna come for a hike?"
You nodded with a smile and followed after him, a few steps behind.
"I'm really sorry, about last night, about everything actually"
"its okay", you mumble, not wanting to get into it.
"I'm proud of you, you know", you stopped at his words, stunned. "yeah, I was just like you when I was young. I wanted to go to art school. I know I made a big deal of you dropping out, but I'm proud of you"
You gave a genuine smile as you hugged his side, he mumbled an 'I love you' into your hair and the two of you continued hiking in happy silence.
Sarah wasn't talking to either of you, you couldn't bring yourself to face her either. So while she was outside that evening, you slipped into your shared room and grabbed some spare clothes before trudging down the hall and knocking on Bucky's door.
"Hey", he chimed, when he took you in, he was slightly confused. "you okay?"
"yeah", you chuckled, mumbling slightly. "can I stay in here?"
He was more than happy to let you sleep in his bed, the two of you curled up together behind a locked door. He ran his hands through your hair, stroking his knuckles softly over your cheek. He traced the curve of your nose, the outline of your lips, even the line of your collarbones.
You kept your eyes closed, just let him admire you. You only opened them when he tucked himself against you, nuzzling into the crook of your neck, wrapping his arms around your waist and pulling you flush against him. You loosely slung your arms around his shoulders, tracing your fingertips over the plates of his metal arm. You hummed when they clicked and whirred softly under you touch.
"you're so soft", he mumbles into your skin.
You chuckle in response, "what?"
"no one is ever gentle when it comes to that thing", he shrugs his left arm as he speaks, you watch in admiration as all the plates click in succession.
"I think it's interesting", you whisper. "It's actually kind of pretty"
He laughs at your response, but he doesn't realise that your sketchbook is filled with icy blue eyes and a shiny collaboration of vibranium where a limb should be, all sketches of varying degrees of completion.
He lifts his head to gaze at you, just for a moment before hes craning his neck to plant a sloppy kiss on your lips, you eagerly return. He crawls his way up the bed, cupping your face in calloused hands, now you're craning your neck. He slowly rolls himself on top of you, snaking one hand to the back of your neck. You kiss, because that's all you can do, with your parents right down the hall.
Eventually he falls asleep and you slip out of his grasp, finding scrap paper and a pen. You sketch the broad expanse of his back, taking extra care to map out his scars just right, you search for all the paper thin scars and the ones that look like freckles, you sketch them too. He's a beast of a man, you should be scared of him, but you aren't, you've got him wrapped around your finger.
The next morning he slides into the passenger seat next to you, you smile at him. He rests his hand on your thigh, occasionally wandering higher or pinching the soft flesh, sometimes he leans in and peppers feather light kisses to your cheek. He gently bites at your neck, making you whimper and whine behind the wheel.
When you finally pull into his driveway, he insists you come in. You wave at Steve, gesturing to Bucky's open door, he throws you a thumbs up.
You shut the door gently, and Bucky's on top of you in seconds, hand on your throat, pinning you to the door, you whimper.
"it's okay, kitten", he growls, "I won't hurt you", you stay silent. He presses soft kisses to your cheek, trailing them across your jaw and down your neck, and then he lands on your pulse point, and he bites down hard. You yelp, and he pulls you up the stairs.
He does the same thing when he has you caged against the bed, his hands massage your thighs as he trails loving kisses down your neck, before sinking sharp teeth into your pulse point, making you gasp.
He does it again once he's buried deep inside of you, one hand prying your thighs apart and the other holding your wrists above your head. He mumbles words of praise between kisses; "such a good girl for me, taking everything I give you", then he clamps sharp canines into your neck again, only this time he tastes blood.
It's a welcome taste on his tongue; warm and metallic, and strangely familiar.
When he's finished, panting and glowing in soft evening light, you examine him closely. He smiles down at you, and he wonders what you're looking for.
"you could tear open my throat, and let me die in your arms", you whisper, but you're only half here, your mind has wandered, but he knows you still expect an answer.
"I could", he says plainly, accepting of the fact that you were so fragile compared to him, that he could rip you up and tear you open and let you bleed out in his arms.
"why don't you?"
"I'm a sucker for art girls", he whispers jokingly, but when you gaze up at him, he can see that theres something bigger at play in your mind, so he takes a deep breath and tries again. "you're soft, and familiar, and you make everything a little bit better. Why would I kill the object of my affections, when I could just mark her, make her mine, and have her forever", he words it as poetically as he can, desperate to satisfy whatever thirst you needed to quench.
You nod slowly, taking in his words. Then you roll away from him and pick your jeans up from his bedroom floor, you fish around in your pockets before you pull out a carefully folded piece of paper and hand it to him.
It takes him a while to realise what it is. It's one of your sketches, he identifies that immediately. But then he realises that its him, it's his back, the night you slept in his room at the cabin. He looks at it more closely, ogling at the detail and the perfect placement of every imperfection staining his skin.
He takes you in his arms, and presses a soft kiss to your pulse point, blood seeping slowly onto his lips.
'his', you think, and a part of you wants to never let him go, and another knows that eventually, you'll need to.
