notes: hi late update and that’s because i was crocheting the entire day lol

she hums turning around, her arm landing on something solid instead of a soft pillow. she opens an eye, flinching back when her eyes land on someone’s clothed back, then groans when nausea slowly hits her.

“who the fuck is this?”

the person next to her hums. they left their head before dropping it back into the pillow. “mm.”

she looks around to the best of her ability, snorting when she realises that amidst all her drunken antics from the night before, they didn’t even end up on the bed. they’re sleeping on the carpeted floor of her hotel room.

she lifts her head, ignoring the nausea hitting her all at once. the bed is empty.

a hand comes up to nurse her head, looking down at the body lying next to her with the blanket draped over their shoulder loosely. she brought somebody back to her hotel room with her? now that’s just a tabloid rumour waiting to blow up in her face when she opens up her phone.

she leans forward, wobbling slightly, as she tries to get a glimpse of their face. her eyes widen, landing a smack on their shoulder with some force. "what the hell are you doing here?"

"don't hit me, i'm trying to sleep."

"mick! you're in my hotel room!"

"what?" blue eyes are exposed to the dim lights of the room, disappearing once more when mick shuts his eyes. "what am i doing here?"

"how would i know?" she sighs, slowly lying back down on the ground. "i don't remember anything."

"we didn't do anything... did we?"

she looks down at herself, surprisingly dressed in her pyjamas without any recollection of even making it back into her hotel room in the first place. "i hope not."

"you hope?" mick cries, shaking his head in dismay. "this is not good."

"give me a second. i need to think," she sighs, pressing the back of her hand to her forehead. "start thinking. do you remember anything from last night?"

mick also sighs, simply shaking his head. he pulls the blanket over his body and snuggles back into his pillow. "no, but wake me up when you've figured it out. i'm really hungover right now, mate."

"really? you don't think i am?"

"i'm sure you are, but– what the hell is this on my finger? when did i get a mood ring?"

"you have a mood ring?" there's a momentary pause. "oh, look. i've got one too. when did i–"

they both sit up hurriedly, hissing in pain as they point at each other with a loud gasp. "no! are you serious? did we really do that? when did we even have the time to do that?"

mick cries. "my mother is going to kill me."

"mine will kill me – i'm barely 21, mick!"

"i'm going to american jail! you're not even legal here!" he rubs his eyes. “i don’t wanna go to jail here!”

she scrambles around for her phone, eyes widening at her notifications.

she glances at mick. "my dad's going to kill you."

mick turns to her, shoulders slumped with his eyes widened in panic. "i really really hope my mother gets to me first." he shakes his head and pats around the ground for his phone. "you know what? i'll just tell her myself."

“don’t bother,” she scoffs, lying back down in the pillow sprawled on the floor. “i vividly remember you calling gina when we were getting pizza that you married me in vegas.”

kristen chews on the inside of her cheek, scanning the group around her. "what is this? i only told you to bring mick."

the girl takes off the sunglasses on her face and sighs. "you think i didn't try telling them off? is this your first time meeting these losers? i– listen, i'm too hungover to tell them off, kristen."

"please let us stay?" max smiles, batting his eyelashes at the older woman. "i promise we'll be quiet. i'm just curious over the events of last night."

"so am i," kristen points out in a soft voice, moving her eyes over the pair seated on the couch on the other side of her table. at that point, they are the least of her concerns. "do you know the pr nightmare you just caused over a couple of drinks? do you have any idea the reckless thing you just did?"

"please don't shout," she says softly, eyes closing. "it was stupid, we know. in my defense–"

"they shouldn't have even let us in the chapel in the first place in that state," mick sighs, shaking his head disapprovingly. “so technically, whose fault is it, really?”

“both of yours for even coming up with the stupid idea in the first place!” logan screams, pointing at them in frustration. “you made a bad decision!”

kristen glances at logan, shooting him a side eye for disrupting her meeting. when logan shrugs, she simply looks back at the married pair her seats. “you’re not even 21! you did this in america too! god!”

“and they shouldn’t have permitted it knowing that i wasn’t 21!” the young girl shrieks, immediately defending herself. this is a hill she is willing to die on. “let’s focus more on the fact that they let two drunk idiots get married instead of the fact that i thought of it.”

“you came up with that idea?” max throws his head back, hissing softly as he shook his head. “why am i not surprised?”

“right? you have to tell her how stupid she is for this,” logan rambles in frustration. “seriously! you couldn’t go one year without making a stupid decision?

she rolls her eyes, glancing at mick from the side of her eyes. he flashes her an apologetic grin and she shrugs with another eye roll in response.

“i mean, you’re an adult. you can do whatever you want, but do you know how legally exhausting the entire process will be from here on out?” max continues, throwing his arms in the air. “knowing you, you won’t like it! there’s a lot of papers to sign!”

“and paper work to read!” logan adds on. “seriously!”

“god, (y/n), how could you be so stu–“

“i came up with the idea,” mick speaks out, turning to max and logan with a small smile. “it’s not her fault, you guys. come on. lay off her a little bit.”

she shoots him a questioning stare. “no, wait–“

mick laughs. “the deal at the pizza place just looked so good. i’m not excusing it because we were drunk, but cut us some slack.”

sebastian, sitting quietly in the corner of the room, finally stands up. he folds his arms over his chest. “it doesn’t matter who came up with the crazy idea to get married in vegas.”

“you’re still not mad?” logan raises an eyebrow. “there’s got to be some part of you that is.”

“how about let me conduct my meeting with my driver in peace? unless you want to take over my job of being her pr officer…” kristen speaks out, looking around the room to shut down any more forms of interruption. she looks back at her. “let me see the marriage certificate.”

“the what?”

“you signed one, didn’t you?“

she scrunches her nose and looks at mick. “did we sign one? i really can’t remember.”

“i don’t,” mick cuts himself off, looking just as clueless, “i literally blacked out last night. i don’t remember anything.”

sebastian beams, standing a little straighter. “i have it right here! look at it, kristen.”

he puts down a piece of paper on the table. the entire room watches the woman read over the paper, lips pressed together.

a small laugh bubbles from her, grabbing the certificate into her hands and bringing it closer to her face. her laugh gets a little louder, sebastian eventually joining her with a hand over his mouth.

“what is so funny?” she sighs, rolling her eyes. “all i can think about is the shopping spree i can’t have this month over the lawyer fees.”

“and the fact that i could end up in american jail for marrying a 20-year-old!”

kristen grins, slamming the certificate down onto the table. “it’s illegitimate.”

“what?”

“oh?”

“surprising turn of events!”

“illegitimate?”

a hand slams into the table, the youngest in the room jumping to her feet. “illegitimate? what about my free pizza? how is that illegitimate? i’m not a schumacher anymore?”

“you changed your name?” oscar pipes up, roaring in laughter, covering his face. this entire ordeal has been very amusing to him.

she turns around sheepishly with a small smile. “i was planning to. how cool would it be to be a schumacher?”

“what the fuck?” logan says to her, bewildered at the thought process. “you’re not married and you’re telling me that’s the only thing you’re concerned about? not being a schumacher in the eye of the law?”

mick giggles, looking up at her with an impressed expression. “schumacher does go along well with your name.”

“i know. should we get married for realsies after this weekend and legally change my name?”

“have you learned nothing from this?” kristen throws her hands into the air. she leans back into her seat, letting out the heaviest sigh of relief as she no longer has to engage with any legal teams. pr wise, it would be easy.

she shrugs, sitting back down into the cushioned seat. “don’t get drunk with mick in vegas.”

“first and last time i’m drinking that much with you,” mick adds on with a snort. though, there’s a small smile playing on his face as he looks at her.

they both know that won’t be the last time they’ll be sending their pr officers into a frenzy. they’re truly a force to be reckoned with.

and, it could have been worse.

“i paid for all the pizzas you ate and threw up last night,” sebastian sighs, shaking his head. “you owe me like $100.”

she nods. “okay, i’ll pay you. still no shopping spree for me this month, i guess.”

mick clicks his tongue, giving her a thumbs up. “i’ll pay him. consider it my wedding gift to you, wife.”

“she’s not your wife,” logan points out with an eye roll. “didn’t even get married in the first place, remember? illegitimate. not even a real certificate. never happened. literally no record of it.”

“i’m curious,” max furrows his eyebrows and lips pouted out. “how did you pull this off to make it seem real, seb?”

“i arrived to their ‘wedding’–“

“not real!”

“logan, cut it out.”

“–before them. i spoke to the receptionist before they arrived; they don’t let drunk people get married. i convinced her to give them the slot anyway just to teach these two a lesson.”

“impressive?” kristen smiles. “you just saved me a lot of paper work.”

“and mick the beating he’d get from her dad if it actually ever happened to go through.”

she smiles, leaning over the arm rest to whisper at mick. she taps him on the shoulder. “we should celebrate with ice cream.”

they flood out of the office collectively, the young girl looking down at the mood ring around her ring finger. “we should keep the rings, shouldn’t we, mick? keepsake.”

“to remind you of your bad decision making?” logan questions.

“no, to piss you off.” she turns around and shoves him back gently. “of course, just to keep memory of the one time i was almost a schumacher!”

sebastian tilts his head. “you know you’ll still be you, right? even if you’re legally considered a schumacher? you won’t get his blue eyes.”

“i could,” she hums with a smile. “so, husband. watching the race from my garage tonight like a factory manufactured wag?”

“can’t, wife,” mick sighs. “i work for mercedes.”

“i could get you the second seat if you wanted.”

“you have the power to do that?” she nods. “that’s hot.”

“cut it out, you guys are making max uncomfortable!” oscar grunts, pushing the pair apart.

beside them, max has his fingers plugged into his ears and is humming softly to himself. “it’s not real, it’s not real. they’re not actually married,” he whispers to himself. “and it will never happen.”

TURN-124: An Academy Divided! The Hunger Duel

With zombie students on the prowl within the academy and materialized Monsters roaming outside, Judai and the others have been driven into critical circumstances. Even so, they strengthen their defenses, such as by building a barricade to protect the remaining students. But in the midst of it all, Harada, Teraoka, and Yamanaka escape, unable to bear their hunger, and go missing. As Judai and the others look for these missing students, they hear from Martin, who attempts to trade the food storehouse for the power plant area near Judai and the others. They duel for these areas, and the three students are their opponents, bearing the Masks of Laughter, Apathy, and Anger. O'Brien, Johan, and Jim take them on, but...

TURN-125: Johan, Jim, and O'Brien VS the Three Masked Knights

The duels for the food storage area continue as Johan faces the Mask of Apathy, O'Brien the Mask of Laughter, and Jim the Mask of Anger. Johan is gradually cornered by the Mask of Apathy's Silent Space, while Jim gets his Life reduced by Angered Anchor Knight. O'Brien is composed as he duels, soon realizing that these duels are a ruse as he speeds up his match. Johan and Jim, after hearing the truth from O'Brien that it is all a ruse, change gears and start to counterattack, as well. Elsewhere, Rei sees Vice-Principal Napoleon run off out of worry for Martin and brings Judai along to go after him.

Wanted to get these done a bit sooner after 122-123 took longer than ideal, but at least it's exactly a month later that I'm posting these lol. Episodes 124 and 125 are now finalized! Not a bad pair of episodes as the students start getting to their food breaking point after a few days in this new dimension, all the while a certain someone, through Martin, starts to make their move. While we probably could've used a bit more around the concept of Spirits fusing with people--or at least who the Card Spirits were--it was an interesting idea which allowed some time to shine for Johan, Jim, and O'Brien, with O'Brien showing some of his ex-soldier instincts as he realizes that Martin set their duels up as a ruse to cover up what he was really after--the three Phantasm Cards?! It's also hard to go wrong with another episode helmed by Kyoung Soo Lee's animation team in 125, semi-jarring as the quality bump could be coming off 124 from Chi Man Park and Sun Ming Nam. (Also, Judai finding out that Martin is Napoleon's son is always classic.) (Also also, I really wish the dub kept O'Brien silently walking away as Mask of Laughter reads the effect of his Draw Bomb, instead of making Axel tell him what it is; dampens the comedy there originally.)

Animation error-wise, I applied a fair few fixes across both episodes; 124 mostly saw its errors in the second half of the episode and were more quality-of-watching fixes like split-screen timings with half a handful of quick card error fixes--or I should probably say "pawful" with a Pharaoh-related error in the preview involved, too--while 125 had the most that I picked up on and fixed, with a few card errors, the aforementioned Pharaoh error, and more QOW stuff. Breakdown under the cut below as always for the interested!

Anywho, enjoy! I'll probably do some preliminary setup for 126 and 127 as I shift gears to more proper work on the TFSP re-translation and get work done on Kite and Kotori's story events, along with some other interesting code sleuthing I've been slowly working on related to that voice update I shared the other week, and also look at ARC-V "Dub-Uncut" episode 2 a bit more. Depending on how I feel after 126-127 in terms of what I want to work on, I may decide to either do 128 on its own or do 128-130 together as 128 leads into the Judai/Johan/Martin duel that culminates in Yubel's reveal 🤔 (May also depend on which route gets to coincide with the GX remaster starting in April, lol.) Stay tuned!

Fixes and Edits! (124)

As Judai and the others hear Martin suggest trading the Food Storage Facility for the Power Generator Complex in their territory, after Judai notes that it's buried in sand, Johan wonders why he'd want that area before Kenzan whispers to Judai about going ahead and trading it because it's apparently useless--but as that overhead shot of them starts, Johan's missing his closed mouth in the 3-4 frames before he starts to move his head. Quickly fixed in Sony Vegas by masking/splicing in his closed mouth from a later frame and adjusting it for where his head is at the start of the shot.

Later, once everyone is outside and Johan, Jim, and O'Brien decide they'll be the ones to duel the Masks, we get a shot of each staring down their opponents--but in the first one with Johan and Mask of Apathy, there are two issues as they slide in for their split-screen: 1) the first frame of the split-screen slide-in has them already halfway into the screen, leading to the slide-in not being as smooth as it usually is, and 2) just as it looks like they've set up the split-screen and connected their splits, there's another frame of movement where they actually fully move into position. Fixed #1 by re-doing their splits in Sony Vegas to be more fluid/natural, masking/splicing each split over the still shot of them and moving them accordingly, fixing #2 in the process.

A bit later as the duel gets underway, Johan, Jim, and O'Brien join a split-screen to shout "Duel!" as we cut to their Disks activating, while the same is done with the three Masks--though in the last frame of their split-screen, before we see all three of their Disks, Mask of Laughter's split changes to show his Disk first, with the sky background behind him; the background then changes as we cut to see all three of their Disks so that the ground under him is behind his Disk the way it is for the others'. Fixed in Vegas by just replacing this error frame with a flash white frame so that we get a white flash going from their split-screen into their Disks to match Johan, Jim, and O'Brien.

The very next shot, we see Johan and Mask of Apathy's LP counters pop up as they get underway, both sliding in for a split-screen as Johan lets him go first--but because, with the exception of Johan and Apathy being drawn with their Disks on and Johan going on to slide back out as Apathy takes his turn, this is the same shot as #2 above, the same error with the un-smooth split-screen slide-in happens. Fixed in Vegas by reprising the edit I did there to make the slide-in more fluid, tweaking things slightly with the new split borders I applied for consistency with the rest of the new footage here.

A bit later, as Mask of Laughter makes his first move, Fool Clown's effect makes him discard his hand, but the Laugh Bombers he discards this way then hit O'Brien for damage--as he discards, two issues come up: 1) he doesn't have Fool Clown in Monster Zone #4 on his Disk, where he'd placed it in the prior shot and we see it in subsequent shots, and 2) noticed while fixing #1, there's a quick frame [the one linked earlier] as Laughter moves his hand away from his Cemetery where there's a blank gap between his fingers, and the part of his Disk under his hand should be visible there. Fixed in AfterEffects, #1 by placing a Fool Clown proxy I whipped up into place in Monster Zone #4, then masking Laughter's hand in over it as it moves in to send the cards off and then backs away, while I fixed #2 by actually masking in the corrected gap between his fingers from the clip in #6 below (being the same shot again, save for some shading differences on Laughter's and Mask of Anger's hands) and then applying slight masks along the edges of his cards to overlay them over what remained of the blank gap.

Sometime after that, during Mask of Anger's first turn, he discards to activate the effect of his Angered Anchor Knight--but as he does, like in #5 above (being the same shot), his Knight is missing from Monster Zone #4 on his Disk. Fixed while fixing #5 in AfterEffects, as I could simply copy/paste the effects I used on Fool Clown to apply them to the layer with the Angered Anchor Knight proxy I put into place.

During the preview for 125, we see Pharaoh come up to Rei's leg to get her attention, and there are two quick issues that come up: 1) there's a quick movement frame (lasting for three frames) where Pharaoh's upper left leg/paw isn't fully drawn in towards the bottom, causing the ground behind him to be visible under the last brown spot, and 2) the movement frame immediately after (also lasting three frames) has the same leg/paw missing its spots suddenly before they come back in the next movement frame. Fixed both in 125 proper first using Photoshop and Vegas, as I first used Photoshop to fill in the missing skin to fix #1, fixing #2 by using the next frame with his leg/paw spots back to cut out the leg itself and duplicate it into the error frame in #2, adjusting it to fit and erasing any extra parts I didn't need as it was in a similar enough position to work--once both frames were fixed, I mixed them into the preview's footage in Vegas.

Immediately after #7, we see Rei turn towards Pharaoh before looking past him to see Napoleon running back into the Academia--though as Rei turns to look at Napoleon, her collarbone vanishes for some reason. Fixed using Photoshop and Vegas for 125 proper first, using the frame right before she turns as reference to splice in her collarbone lines and adjust them slightly in the movement frames as she turns towards Napoleon; once fixed, I then mixed the six or so fixed frames into the preview's footage in Vegas.

Fixes and Edits! (125)

During the recap of 124 at the beginning, we see the shot of Mask of Laughter sending his hand to the Cemetery through Fool Clown's effect to hit O'Brien with damage, with the same error in missing Fool Clown in Monster Zone #4 on his Disk, along with the same blank-gap error between his fingers in that one frame. Fixed by reprising my fix from 124 proper.

Getting into 125 proper, as Johan reacts in shock at Mask of Apathy having another Magic Card to use in Silent Torment, Apathy slides in on a split-screen to explain its effect, but Johan moves a frame before Apathy's split starts to slide in. Fixed in Vegas by redoing the start of Apathy's slide-in slightly so that he starts his slide-in during the frame Johan starts to move.

A bit after that, cutting back to Jim's duel with Mask of Anger, Anger activates Angered Anchor Knight's effect again to deal Jim damage, but as his Knight's anchor closes in on Jim, his Weathering Soldier is missing from Monster Zone #4 on his Disk, which we also see it in in the very next shot as his LP go down. Fixed using AfterEffects by applying a proxy, then applying some motion tracking to zoom it in while the Zone's visible.

A bit later, after Napoleon and Rei worry about Martin and why he's doing all this, we see a montage of all the Duel Zombies roaming inside the Academia--but when we see Shou and Ayukawa, their decks are missing in the deck slots on their active Disks, while all the other Zombies have theirs in place (and later, as they walk towards Judai and Martin, their decks are there). Thought of fixing this, but due to having to find a similarly angled shot or two to then try to mask into place and move with them, possibly using motion tracking, I left it as-is.

Sometime after that, Napoleon decides to sneak back into the Academia to try and find Martin, which Pharaoh notices; he scoots over to paw at Rei's leg to get her attention, but there are two quick issues that come up: 1) there's a quick movement frame (lasting for three frames) where Pharaoh's upper left leg/paw isn't fully drawn in towards the bottom, causing the ground behind him to be visible under the last brown spot, and 2) the movement frame immediately after (also lasting three frames) has the same leg/paw missing its spots suddenly before they come back in the next movement frame. Later, after O'Brien figures out that these duels are a ruse and gets his turn underway, the first time he uses Fire Back to re-summon Fire Trooper, he notes that Mask of Laughter will take another 1000 points of damage; he slides in on a split screen and chuckles as he drops to 1500 LP, only for O'Brien to slide Laughter out of the split-screen by moving to activate a second Fire Back--but Laughter starts moving for the slide-out a frame before O'Brien starts to move, and the slide-out also lasts about 12 frames when they're usually about 7-8, causing it to be slightly out of sync with the slide-out SFX. Fixed this in Vegas by first timing it so that Laughter sliding out happens as O'Brien moves, then by snipping out a frame or two of the slide-out to slightly speed up the slide-out to time it better with the SFX.

A few shots later, as O'Brien sends Volcanic Buckshot to his Cemetery as Fire Back's cost, Mask of Laughter takes another 500 points of damage--as the fire from it fades out around him, the Fool Clown that had been on his Disk from the start of the shot suddenly vanishes as soon as it's visible through the fire again, leaving a hole in his Disk that shows the background behind it. Fixed this in AfterEffects, applying my proxy and applying motion tracking to track the shot's movement as it shook around (which did pretty well overall given the fading fire obscuring some pixels) adjusting the brightness on it as the fire fades out, while also applying a solid color layer which I used to mask in some recreated fire lighting on top of the proxy for blending, fading it out as the fire faded.

A bit later, as Jim's about to play his first Time Stream, we quickly zoom up from his Disk to his upper body as he does so, but he's missing his just-summoned Cenozoic Fossil Warrior Skull Pawn in Monster Zone #4 on his Disk when we see it. Fixed in AfterEffects by applying a proxy, giving it some blurring to blend it in with the motion blurring going on.

A few seconds later, as Jim finishes explaining Time Stream's effect, joined on a split-screen by Mask of Anger, he declares his summoning of Mesozoic Fossil Warrior Skull King as their split-screen splits apart, but two things happen: 1) for the first frame of the slide-out, Jim's split is missing its border, and 2) the split-out itself lasts only two more frames. Fixed both in Vegas by re-doing their split-out to be a more fluid 7-8 frames long as they usually are, fixing #1 in the process by making sure Jim's split holds onto its border.

A bit later, after Jim's Skull King destroys Angered Anchor Knight and Mask of Anger uses his effect to bring him back, Jim says he was waiting for that; a confused Anger slides in for a split-screen as Jim explains that Skull King can attack twice and deal piercing damage, causing Anger to gasp and Jim to slide him off their split-screen to have Skull King's second King Swordplay attack happen--all the while, two things happen: 1) Jim moves for their split-screen a frame before Anger starts to slide into place, and 2) the border between them is still there in the first frame as their split-out starts, with their split-out lasting only three more frames. Fixed these in Vegas by first redoing Anger's slide-in to be timed with Jim moving for it, applying some motion blurring on his redone split for blending in the initial few frames, then by redoing their slide-out to be a more fluid eight or so frames as usual, fixing the ghost border issue in the process and timing it so that Anger's fully offscreen as Jim first moves to order Skull King's second attack.

A few scenes later, after Mask of Anger's LP hit zero and Teraoka is freed, Jim exhales in relief as everyone behind him cheers his win, though he's missing Skull King on his still-active Disk in Monster Zone #4. Fixed in AfterEffects by applying a proxy, applying gradual Gaussian blurring as the perspective transitions from him to everyone behind him.

A bit later, during Johan's last turn, Mask of Apathy tries to activate another Silent Magic Card from his hand in response to Johan activating Ruby's effect Special-Summoning his other Gem Beasts, but Johan slides in on a split-screen for a retort, saying that he won't be breaking his Ruby--though a few things happen as Apathy gasps and Johan slides him off the split-screen to use Rainbow Ruins's negate effect: 1) Johan's lip flaps end a second or two before he finishes his line, and 2) Mask of Apathy is moved within his split a frame before he starts to properly slide offscreen as Johan moves. Fixed both in Vegas, first by masking in a few extra lip flaps to fit the end of Johan's line, then by redoing Apathy's split's slide-out so that he slides out as he was during the full split-screen.

Honorary Mentions for the one error as Rei calls out to Napoleon after the eyecatch as they run down a hallway and her jacket is drawn with short sleeves (when her jacket's sleeveless), as well as the one while Judai, Rei, and Pharaoh run up to Martin and Napoleon near the end where the animation team didn't color in the end of Pharaoh's tail (I probably could've handled this one as it was a seven-frame job, but not being able to properly tell the spiky bits of his tail apart, I thought to leave it).

Good gods, the themes get to me every single time, and the emotion strung in each arc, in each story, each sentence, stars, what skill to see in action. Yeah yeah, call me cliche/basic all you want with this being in the OTP rank… but dangit, I just can’t help it after all the fond nostalgia for them I’ve had over the years~💜. A dorky ghostly hero w/ a spunky goth girl, encouraging eachother’s strengths & working through whichever hardships come their way, and by staying so supportive through thick & thin… it allowed for feelings to steadily blossom by the end~ 💚. Was it "perfectly" handled, development-wise? Well, maybe not. Do I wish they could've gotten together sooner so we'd actually see how they'd work as a couple? Absolutely. But all-in-all… writing flaws aside, I can't help but enjoy them anyway~ x3

-Dash x Jazz

Most def one of my more… "controversial" picks for an OTP these days, but hear me out lol. As much of an obnoxious jerk Dash was for most of the show… it always intrigued me alot for how he had that brief crush on Jazz early-on 🤔. Like, the girl wasn't even a popular kid herself from what we've seen in the show (often preferring books to people, half the time)… yet Dash of all people caught a bit of feels for her enough-to invite her to his party? Interesting 👀 Do I think they would've worked as an actual canon ship? …Weeell, most likely no lol. BUT, can't say I'm not a sucker for a good ol' "confident nerd x smug jock" dynamic, esp for the potential of Jazz helping to humble Dash in his place + Dash encouraging Jazz to loosen up more & have fun (away from just being the "responsible" smart one all the time). Hehee~ ;p

-Ghostwriter x Ember

One of my "newer" OTPs as of late, I just love the potential of two artsy-inclined ghosts (Ember w/ her music + Ghostwriter w/ his writing) forging a special bond together~ 💜Whether it's Ember nudging GW out of his comfort zone like the kickass babe she is, GW encouraging more "downtime" moments for Ember at home (whenever the rockstar fame gets too much), and then occasionally annoying everyone with their poetic displays of lovin' when they're out & about together~ -w-

-Jack x Maddie

I mean, this one's a no-brainer to put here lol =P Two happily-married, proud ghost-researchers who work perfectly as a "brains & brawn" duo. Even if there's occasional moments of marital spats (-often from Jack's excitable mishaps 😅 lol), the way they're ultimately always able to find their way back to eachother (even in an AU-timeline where Maddie married Vlad) is just… d'awwww~ ❤️

-Johnny 13 x Kitty

The OG ghost sweethearts whom I'm so sad never seems to feel fully-appreciated by the fandom… even though there's SO much to love about them imho~ The way Johnny was so devoted to bring Kitty into the human world with him (even if it had to involve using Jazz along the way), Kitty's protective rage upon seeing Danny hurt Johnny (despite being mad at him earlier), and the behind-the-scenes element of their VAs being a married couple irl just adds another layer of sweetness to them ngl~ 💚

-Nocturn x Desiree

Two ancient, powerful ghostly spirits keen for chaos and grandeur for themselves… they'd be quite a power couple match the more I've thought of them (+working with their son, Reve). Reminding me alot of Xibalba & La Muerte from "The Book of Life", in a way~ lol ;p

-Walker x Spectra

The stern, crooked ghost warden w/ the cunning shadow lady, if thats not already a recipe for some "steamy" chemistry there~ 👀💚

-Fright Knight x Dorathea

The fiercest ghostly knight with the growing-badass dragon princess spells SO much for beautiful ship chemistry~ :love: With the Fright Knight clearly being a man who values strength & confidence, to have Dorathea around for him to admire and protect (& vice-versa with her own dragon-shifting skills)… just hhhhhhh I NEED it in my life ToT ❤️

-Danielle x Valerie

These two definitely caught my heart ALOT more than I expected these last couple years; from the way Danielle was the key to helping Valerie realize not all ghosts are bad, their moment of teamwork once Danny & Val helped to save her from Vlad, and even that bit of them sneakily scaring Danny at the end was pretty amusing to see~ lol Whether as a strong duo of friends, or something "more" down the line, either way these girls def deserve all the love in the world~ ❤️

-Paulina x Star I will never not be a sucker for a classic "girlboss gfs" ship, and even if Paulina & Star didn't get too much development/focus (outside of being mean girls)… well, they just give me all the feels with how well they click together~ ❤️With Star being one of the few characters Paulina was shown to genuinely care about (to the point of legit crying when Star went missing in "Claw of the Wild"), and the way they're always so doting & sweet when hanging out on the sidelines, how could you not see them potentially getting together~? :3

The sneaky chaotic genie with the dutifully kind princess, a pair I think could have loads of potential after all both ladies have been through~ :aww: If it weren't for my attachment to other ships (+Arthur & Reve's characters in my NG), I'd def be down to give 'em more love ngl~ ❤️

-Freakshow x Lydia

While we never really got to know more of the context behind their relationship (if they're just a pair of allies, friends, or something "more"), I enjoyed seeing their chemistry of working together stealthily even after Freakshow lost everything/got further lost-in power. If there ever was a chance to see more of them together, I'd be down for that! ^^

-Kwan x Sam

My overall second-fave Sam ship from the series and one I seem to grow more & more fond of as of late 💜While only really interacting a handful of times, I just love how Sam was able to reach out to Kwan in offering him a chance to hangout (seeming to know that deep down he truly means well, despite all his clumsiness/loyalty to Dash). And Kwan being so dorky and keen to get into Sam's interests was pretty adorb too, so I can just imagine all their fun potential as a "golden retriever x black cat" duo :3 . Sam encouraging him to stand his ground, Kwan helping Sam tone down her temper/stubborn habits, all that jazz~ ;P

-Tucker x Valerie

Ngl, I'm still bummed the show abruptly ended this one before it could fully-flourish… 'cause man they seemed to have such a sweet setup going by "Shades of Gray" 💛. Tucker reaching out to Valerie to cheer her up (even after she lost her popularity/wealth), Valerie (albeit at first using him to get more info on the Fentons) seeming to lowkey enjoy his company the more she hung out with him, and seeing Tuck even going that extra mile to take the fall for Valerie's dad during that ghost accident at the end (which could've really gotten him in trouble)… just, c'mon how could you not find see the ship-potential in that~? :3 While I'm ultimately fine with these two just staying as friends from then-on, I can't help thinking of the "What Ifs?" with them now & then~ ^^

Again, yet another pair that I feel the fandom's sadly sleeping on… 'cause c'moooon, these girls would be SO fitting as a gf duo together!~ :D Their whole conflict regarding Danny aside, they've got quite a bit in-common in terms of their strong-willed spirits, loyalty to their loved ones, and even while stubborn at times, they've got the drives to try & do the right thing when it all comes down to it~ 👍 As well as having their own lil differences that could help give each girl a better perspective on things (not all popular/preppy kids are bad, not every outcast kid is a “loser", etc.). Ups & downs they may have at times, Val x Sam could def use some more love all-in-all! 💜🧡

-Danny x Valerie

Probably the most popualr Valerie ship in terms of the general fandom, and rewatching the show its not hard to see why! Both having gone from two bickering kids unable to stand eachother, to a ghost & hunter duo having to learn how to work together, and even their brief dating phase/further-truce down the line allowed for some solid development to form imo :3 I may not be too invested in this one compared to other ships I have for them both, but kudos to the fans who try to give them that proper attention the showed failed on (even if just closure-wise) anyway! ^^

-Danielle x Sam

While their interactions all-in-all were a lil brief, I couldn't help getting the cute image out of my head of Dani lowkey getting a puppy crush on Sam at some point~ ;p Nothing too serious or anything, just a nice lil bit of amusing fluff imo.

-Jazz x Sam

They may have had their differences when Jazz first joined the team, but I did find it sweet how well the girls learned to work together by the end of "Girls Night Out" (gave me a bit of Starfire & Raven vibes ngl lol) :3 I may lowkey be a bit more invested in them friendship-wise, but they're still a fun pair either way ^^

-Pandora x Dorathea

Hehe, the Double-Dora ship lmao =P Silly pun-theming aside, I think it'd be cute seeing Doratea be so in awe of Pandora's wisdom, strength & protective heart for her realm. Even if nothing serious forms from there, I think it'd still be sweet~ ^^

Set as I am with the Paulina x Star ship, if I had to envision what kind of guy I'd potentially put with her instead… hmmmm, I think her & Kwan could be cute? .3. With his laidback sweetheart nature balancing well against her sassier tendencies, it'd be fun to see how they'd click imo :3

-Jazz x Tucker

A semi-common ship I’ve seen floating around in DP fanfics (mainly as a side ship to DxS), and I’ll admit I can see why it’d appeal. Both are generally smart kids, having helped eachother out here & there on Team Phantom (like the “Frightmare” ep), and the idea of Danny’s bff becoming his future brother-in-law has some cute & funny potential to it lol. On the other hand, though… ehh, part of me feels like it may be a bit too convenient to ship off Tuck w/ Jazz as the only other singles in Team Phantom (lowkey almost akin to Sokka x Toph being commonly shipped alongside Kataang in ATLA-). Not to say its a “bad” ship idea in the grand scheme of things… buuuut idk, I feel like it’d kinda depend on how its written imo .3.

-Wes x Jazz As generally “in-the-middle” I’ve always been to Wes Weston on his own (since he basically just kinda exists to be the “Derpy Hooves” in the DP fandom lol), I’ll admit the fan-content between him & Jazz looked rather cute ^^. Can’t quiiiite put them much higher given Wes’ overall background character-status (so his personality could basically be anything you want… for better or worse lol), but yee .3.

-Technus x Desiree

I seem to semi-regularly spot this around here & there whenever I look up ghost-focused DP ships… which seems like they’d have an interesting “Opposites Attract” angle together, the more I think about it 🤔 Can’t say I’ve ever been that big of a Technus fan tho, hence why this one’s a bit lower-ranked ngl.

-Kwan x Star

One of the other “mainstream” human ships I’ve seen in the DP fandom, mainly shipped through some side ship/NG-related roles. And… I mean, I guess it is a fairly harmless pair for the most part, given they both seemed to genuinely connect well after getting ditched in “Lucky in Love”. But I just… idk, something about them never really intrigued me much to ship them in the longterm :P Not really sure why tbh…

-Sam x Star Saw a couple pieces of them floating around that I'll admit looked cute (esp with their contrasting aesthetics & what-not). Though again, with Star, well… not having a whole lot to her when not with Paulina/the other A-Listers, its kiiinda hard to rank it much higher imo

-Paulina x Tucker

A concept I've only ever seen pop up rarely in the fandom… though, I could potentially see something work here if written right? .3. With Tuck being alot more confident than most "geeks" around him, I'm sure he'd be able to handle Paulina's attitude (which I'm sure in her position, I'm sure she'd probably find a lil refreshing lol), if they ever got the chance to one-on-one bond. Idk, there's still some other ships I tend to prefer more for the both of 'em… but hey, more power to those who wish to explore them anyway! ^^

-Gregor (aka: “Elliot”) x Sam

While I’ll admit seeing Sam’s initial crush on the guy was kinda cute… the fact that he diiiiid turn out to be lying about his goth Hungarian identity by the end (+his sudden jerkiness to Tucker) sadly killed the ship’s chances from there, I’m afraid ^^;. Kudos to some of the rare bits of fan-content I’ve seen exploring their (+Gregor’s) potential a bit more tho… it looks interesting .3.

~DP Neutral Ships~

-Skulker x Ember

One of the more "common" ghost ships ever since the early fandom days… and, not really one that's caught my eye in recent memory 🤷‍♀️ Like, yeah I know they're both fiery punks & became an actual canon thing by the "Girls Night Out" ep… buuuut eh, it just felt a bit too randomly-placed for me to get that many "feels" from them imo. Not to say I'd mind seeing them as a side ship in other DP fanfics or however… just kinda depends on how they're written imo.

-Danny x Star

As much as I'll admit there's some rare bits of fanart that looked a lil cute with them both… ehhhh, again Star's just never seemed to click enough with Danny for me to get more into it (with the most being when she did all his homework to win a beauty pageant… and thats it lol). But thats just me .3.

-Danny x Wes

With how popular Wes is on his own, its not too surprising this one would lowkey become a crackship after awhile. Though… idk, for me it almost feels like a copypaste of Danny x Val's dynamic for most fan-portrayals I've seen of 'em, so I didn't quiiiite stay that interested, I'm afraid .w.;

-Dash x Paulina

Similar case to Kwan x Star in essentially being one of the more “common” human side cast ships (mainly for both of 'em being jerkish popular kids lol). Not a bad idea per-say for a ship concept… buuuut at the same time, just a tad too predictable for me to fully-pair 'em imo.

-Tucker x Danielle Only once or twice I've seen this one shipped, and… I guess I can see some ship potential, kinda? Idk, for some reason its been hard for me to fully-see Danielle with guys lately… dunno why lol

-Tucker x Star

Star may not have been the nicest to him when they briefly hooked up in "Lucky in Love" (on account of Tuck mainly going after her as the "satellite" popular girl lol). I guess I could maaaybe give this one a pass if Star got some more development… tho again, it just depends .3.

-Vlad x Spectra

A fairly common Vlad-focused ship from what I've seen (generally based on their similar aesthetics, in a way?). Seems… alright as a potential pair, but for some reason I just… can't seem to get into it one way or another. Eh… .w.;

~DP Disliked Ships~

-Danny x Dash

“He bullies you ‘cause he liiiiikes you~” has long since grown stale as a shipping trope imo, so I really don’t get why this ship’s semi-popularity lasted as long as it did :/. Like, sure I don't mind the potential of Dash getting redeemed/developed more beyond just a bully… but outside of him hero-worshipping Danny's Phantom half, what else really "is" there to count much for a ship? For me… I just don't see it :/

-Danny x Ember

A pretty popular ship whenever I try to look up Ember content… aaaaand again, not one I've ever been down for much :P. Seems to really mostly appeal to those who think Ember's hot & thus feel like Danny has to have her (+other ghost girls) by-default… which idk, just kept giving me squicky vibes after awhile tbh >>. Not to mention some of the more… "vocal" fans seemingly to also be particularly strong Sam-haters for most of the D/E circles I've stumbled across, aaaaand then it just became even less appealing from there tbh -x-

-Danny x Paulina

A surprising ship I've seen getting steadily popular in recent memory, and… ehhhh as much as I've tried, I just can't bring myself to get into it myself ^^; Again, I'm not at all opposed to Paulina changing her ways & developing better beyond a popular girl role… buuuut with Danny basically doing nothing but awkwardly ogling her looks (+her using him whenever she wants something) for most of the show, like… again, is there anything else to truly "tie" them together, longterm-wise? ^^; Idk, personally if I wanted to pair Danny with a "mean girl-turned-ally" character, I'd rather just stick with Valerie imo.

-Dash x Sam

With how little tolerance Sam has for obnoxious dumbassery, and Dash… well, basically being that in a nutshell lol, I can't say there'd be much of a chance for this one to work imo. Even in a potential one-sided crush situation on Dash's end (and/or Sam's parents maybe pushing for it as an "image"-boost in their rich circles), it just ain't meant to be :P.

This dude's basically the embodiment of everything Desiree hates in guys (self-absorbed, greedy, and a creep)… need I say more? lmao

Again, I've gone over this a few times in the past… buuut as much as I've always yearned to end the "Not like OTHER girls" mantra from way back when, it doesn't automatically make me keen to ship EVERY combo of a girly-girl & alt. tomboy together :/. Not helped by Sam's hurt from Paulina toying with Danny (aka: her best friend) due to one of their petty arguments, aaaaand I can't say I'd ever see this one working outside of maybe a (distant) friendship, once they've grown up a bit better. Otherwise, ehhhh… 🤷‍♀️

From their whole "meats vs. veggies" conflict in the first ep having been the cause of a ghostly mess at their school, to them having to practically always need Danny around to balance their friendship… it just ultimately proves to me that not ALL opposites are meant to attract, I'm afraid >>

The OG Phantom trio from the very beginning, what more can I say about 'em that the show haven't showed enough of? ^^ Even if Tucker x Sam still rubs me the wrong way ship-wise, I still enjoy their overall friendship & teamwork when it comes to supporting Danny & vice-versa. And heck, even if there's a scenario that Danny & Sam don't end up together, I like to think they'd always be the best of friends no matter what~ :3

I enjoyed seeing their mentor & student-like dynamic the more they interacted in "The Ultimate Enemy" & "Masters of All Time". While rather trollish to Danny at first, its clear Clockwork means well in wanting to teach Danny a lesson that actions have consequences (no matter how big or small) ^^

A bundle of Fenton siblings that I can't help but find wholesome the more I've rewatched the series~ :) From Danny & Jazz's growing support for one another upon Jazz realizing her lil bro's secret, to Danny learning to lookout for Danielle beyond her being his clone (akin to how a big brother would, in a way ^^), and even though we sadly didn't get the chance for Danielle to meet Jazz (or the other Fentons) before the show ended, I like to think the two girls would get along great either way as (technical) sisters~ :3

-Dark Danny/Danielle/Jazz Even though you could argue Dark Danny (or "Dan" if you prefer) should prob be more considered his "own" character at this point, I just can't help enjoy certain fan-depictions of him maintaining a strong sibling bond with both Jazz and/or Danielle ^^ Guess that brotherly instinct inside Danny would never "fully" go away even while evil… awww ^^

I may not be suuuuper huge on Vlad on his own accord, but ngl… seeing the rare bits of art/fics with him & Harriet Chin (Maddie's old college friend) got me lowkey intrigued o3o. Reminding me a bit of a "darker" version of Superman/Clark x Lois' dynamic, I can imagine Harriet getting more intrigued to find out more about the "mystery" of Vlad's Plasmius half (perhaps as a way to restore her own reputation post-"Bitter Reunions")… coming across eachother enough for some potential "sparks" to form. Can't quite remember if I thought more to their ship setup further, but its still a cute concept imo~ ^^

-Sam x Tom Lucitor ("Star VS. The Forces of Evil")

Ok, now this one I'll admit I just always had this in the back of my mind but never got the chance to talk more about it… buuuuut this is what happens when you have two comfort faves & want all the best for 'em lol ^^. Essentially I see this happening on account of Tom (having already gone through enough bs by the end of "Star VS."), somehow coming across Sam and forming a connection along the way. Both coming from affluent families but struggling to get involved socially in such roles (Sam being the "perfect" prim daughter + Tom being a prince), having an affinity for alternative/rebellious interests, and both having a stubborn but strong loyalty for those they deeply care about. With the potential of Sam even further helping Tom ease up on his temper/encourage him to be himself more often, who knows what other antics they can get up to together!~ :3

If I had the balls to drive all the way to Manchester, I would. Or in this case, if Mason hadn't prevented me from doing so.

I really wanted to comfort Chelsea after what Mason told me had happened. Jenson really followed her all the way to the other side of England, only to offend her? What a joke of a man he is.

I wanted to call her as well, but that may had been a stretch given that, I wasn't her boyfriend, a close friend of hers, or anything else that could possibly explain why I was so worried about her.

I decided to settle for a small text, given it was the only option that wouldn't make me look like an annoying asshole or an obsessed man.

Me: Mase told me what happened. I wish I could've been there as well to help you. I am here if you need anything.

Simple, friendly and caring.

I put my phone on the nightstand before switching off the lights when suddenly there was a notification from my text messages. To my luck, it was Chelsea.

Chelsea: Thank you Ben, this means a lot. I will be better don't worry. And this goes for you to, I am here to listen to you if there is anything concerning you.

A smile softened my worries with Chelsea's sweet reply. She managed to make a thing that was concerning her, turn 180 degrees so she could let me know that my concerns were hers as well.

Now this was a girl worth falling in love with.

It was one of the first few days that I woke up feeling good and not worried about anything. I wasn't thinking about Jenson or guilty about what I said to him. I had finally gotten everything I wanted to say to him out of my chest.

I grabbed my phone and went through all my emails regarding either Formula One or my upcoming commentary for Manchester United. I giggled at the email Crofty had sent me, asking if he could get a signed jersey with all of West Ham players signatures on it. Best part of it was the little PS at the end:

'If you could get Declan's as well, I would be thrilled. Will miss you in the commentary box Chels.'

I was getting very emotional about leaving the Formula One world behind even if that was for two years. I grew up loving this sport more than anything else. I do love football as well, I am not going to lie, but motorsport is my true passion.

I would be leaving behind my friends, the rest of the commentators, Lissie, Natalie, Ted, Crofty, Martin and some of the drivers as well, especially Lando, Alex and George.

I drove to the Sky office in Manchester where I met with Gary who wanted to give me a few updates on the squads, injured players, possible transfers, comebacks. I needed to get my notes ready for tomorrow's game.

"Onana and Amrabat are on AFCON, one of them coming back sooner but will be benched. Maguire still out, Mount is back in the main XI with Martinez as well and Marcus. All clear?" Gary asked whilst looking into his notes for anything else I should be aware of.

"Yes, all clear. Worry not, the game is gonna be a good one." I am lying to myself and probably every other Manchester United fan is as well. Team hasn't been to its best form but they are trying to get back on their feet.

"I will take your word for it little Chelsea. If there is anything else you want to ask, give me a call or Roy. He may be available more often than I am." He advices me as we walk out of the office together.

"How does it feel to be a full time football commentator now? Excited?" Gary kindly asks, even though he may secretly know my answer already.

"Full time may excite me more than part time given that 99% of the time I was jet lagged. If I have you with me then I am sure that things will be better. Plus, it will be easier for my father to tell me to ask the players about autographs so he can cherish in his office."

Gary was one of the first people I got to meet when I became a part of Sky's team. Him and Ted who had been lifelong commentators. Both sports welcomed me wholeheartedly.

At that moment, a white Porsche drove up to us and parked at the side. I instantly recognised it, being Mason's, that he was going to drive us all the way to London for Ben's first game back after the injury.

"Already found friends, didn't you Chelsea?" Gary nudged me playfully. “Those F1 drivers are gonna come for your ass, Mount.” He said to Mason as I was getting on the passengers seat next to him.

“Not for my ass. Maybe a friend of mine’s” Mason winked at me as we both waved goodbye to Gary and drove all the way to London.

During the entire ride, Mason and I mostly talked about football. What were my views on the team’s season, what would happen now that England qualified for the Euros and how is their loss at the 2021 final going to affect them or maybe how the new entries will enhance the dynamic of the team.

Then out of the blue, my phone started buzzing in my bag.

It was Jenson.

“Does he not know what the phrase ‘I need some space’ means?” The Manchester man said in an irritated manner, as we were entering London’s main road.

“It’s complicated. I think I was too harsh on him the other day when I left him. I mean, before he followed me back to my house.” I had a reason to get upset. He basically said I’d be an easy target for all the horny footballers.

“So, my question is, are you boyfriend and girlfriend? Cause I’ve seen the way you look at him during the post race analysis and trust me, but that’s the eyes talking when someone is in love.”

Is it that apparent that I am in love with Jenson? I haven’t had any of the other commentators comment on that. I mean, yeah, Lissie knows what’s going on between me and him but other than that, the rest may believe it’s pure admiration for such a figure. He was a world champion after all.

“Two years ago, I admitted to Jenson how much I admired him and I spoke very highly of him during an interview. Like you said, the way I was looking at him wasn’t the friendliest of all and given that he used to be my father’s favorite driver alongside Mark Webber, Jenson started flirting with me very intensely. I didn’t hesitate to flirt back and after the Canadian Grand Prix, when Jenson had forgot to book a hotel room, I let him stay with me. One thing led to another and now we are here.”

Mason was stunned with what he had just heard. He was trying to say something but he couldn't find the words to phrase it. This made me worry even more with how my relationship with Jenson could evolve soon.

"It sounds so odd. It looks like he was trying to get something out of you. Like he wanted you to be this close to him. I can't really explain it."

Mason could actually explain it very well, he just had to say it as it was, but he didn't want to hurt my feelings. I had to found out myself to eventually realise what was going on.

"My relationship with Jenson has always been a bit bumpy. I think you could tell from how possessive he was acting around me and you with Ben."

"He was so worried that we would seduce you and take you away from his grasp. I get that footballers don't always have the best of reputations and we are labeled as the 'playboys' but we don't want to steal other's girlfriends. Plus, Ben isn't the type of man that would hit on a woman so coldly. He is too nice to act like a dick."

"Hence why we fought. He thinks one of the footballers I will be engaging with, will flirt with me and I will instantly end with him on bed."

Mason's grasp around the wheel got more tight and his knuckled turned white as each word was leaving my mouth.

"I missed the opportunity to knock him out when I was by your house. He's so pathetic to even think that. Chels, I have seen you around the flirt tricks of footballers and not even once you flinched. Always stayed professional. Couldn't he tell by the post game interviews?"

"Also another reason why I stopped being part of the post game interview squad. Jenson was scared I would break in the end and flirt on public television with one of them. Now he can't do anything about it. I will be full time around the players."

"Karma is a bitch they say." Mason laughed and I followed him along. It felt so cathartic to finally get out of my system everything that has happened. I needed to vent to someone and I am more than thankful Mason was willing to listen to me.

"Enough talking about the grandpa. Now it is time to enjoy some Premier League football." When the blinding lights of Stamford Bridge started becoming brighter, my heartbeat rose as the realisation hit me that for the first time I would be in the guest box alongside a world famous footballer.

Mason guided us through the back entrance and was greeted with love, despite being a former player for the club. We made a small stop to the changing rooms, although I wasn't allowed inside. The door was half opened, and peaking would be rude and invasive, so I just stayed at the corner before the entrance to the box.

When the door opened, Mason was carrying a shirt on his hand and a few seconds later, he handed it to me with a massive smile plastered on his face. I took it and opened it wide, only for the name 'Chilwell' and the number '21' to be presented in front of my eyes.

"It was only fitting you took Ben's number since I am no longer in the club. Also he is captaining the team today so it will be an honour wearing his name and number." Mason said with such pride, talking for his former club which was his home for so many years.

I didn't say a word and threw the shirt on, adjusting it against the one I was already wearing. It was the perfect size and Mason's eyes were glued on the name of the shirt.

"He will love it" he softly murmured hoping I wouldn't listen, but yet I did.

"What was that?" I said to catch him off guard, even though I heard what he said clearly.

"Nothing dear. Well, shall we take our seats? The game is about to start." He scratched the back of his neck nervously and guided us to our seats. From where we were sitting, you would have the best view of the Bridge. It was beautiful. The atmosphere was magical and despite the team having another difficult season, the fans were always present to support them.

Crystal Palace was an easy opponent given that Chelsea hasn't lost to them either home or away in years. It would be three easy points to clench and celebrate. Although the nervousness was apparent on the player's faces, besides Thiago's.

Thiago was the saving grace from PSG that decided to follow along Thomas Tuchel and lead Chelsea to ultimate success. He was the defender that would complete the defending duo of Ben and Reece.

"Come on Chelsea!!!" I screamed as loud as I could, even though the male screams were louder than mine. Mason was startled with my scream but eventually got along with it and started singing chants as well.

"I am assuming you are a fan of the club then?"

"Hence the name. And otherwise I would be buried outside of the Emirates."

The camera was always pointing on Ben and a smile would instantly form on my lips whenever my eyes focused on his figure. He deserved to be captaining the team and I was sure the night was going to be successful!

I took out my phone and took a picture of Ben on the pitch from the big screen on top of the stadium. I was giggling like a teenage girl who was stalking her lifelong crush. It took me long to realise that I had a pair of eyes watching my every move next to me which person happened to be the captain's best friend.

"Oh no please, don't let me stop you from admiring good old Chilly. I think he will need all the good luck he can get tonight." Mason gloated and teased me at the same time, earning a devilish eyebrow raise from me.

The game went by pretty smoothly. It was indeed an easy win for the team given that two goals were scored in the first half, with Ben assisting twice and even though Palace draw one goal as well, this didn't stop the team from scoring again and this time, Ben wasn't the one who assisted but instead threw the ball behind the net.

My cheers were indescribably loud and my excitement was off the charts. After an injury and to perform like that was more than incredible. Ben played fantastically and both me and Mason were extremely proud of everyone but most Ben.

After the game finished, the players stayed on the pitch to applause the audience along with Pochettino to thank them for the support and hoping the enjoyed the game. When the stadium started emptying up and the players were still on the grass, I started shouting Ben's name so he could see who else was in attendance.

"Chilwell" I screamed at least 5 times before I left Mason unable to hear from his left ear and finally caught Ben's attention. When he notices it was me and Mason, his eyes widened and a smile formed that expanded all the way from his mouth to the tip of his ears.

Mason took my hand and led us to the dressing room with the entire team and went to congratulate everyone as I was waiting once again outside. This time, when the door opened, it wasn't Mason who's showed up, but the man of the match instead.

I instantly wrapped my arms around his neck and took him in into a tight hug, despite him being all sweaty. His body was warm and I would've loved to stay into his arms for an eternity.

"Congratulations on a wonderful game Benji. I am so proud of you. What a game from your side." I had witnessed a lot of brilliant games and Ben deserved all the recognition tonight.

"Thank you darling. This was all your doing. I sensed your positive energy in the audience and was ready to push. Hope I was entertaining." He wined playfully at me and within seconds butterflies started forming inside my stomach and fluttering around.

"If I could give you all the awards of the world, I definitely would. And maybe luck on indeed on my back tonight." I said cryptically before turning around to unveil the number that was plastered on my shirt.

"From now on, you are my official lucky charm. I will be needing you in attendance to all my games." He joked, although Ben was sounding very serious, which I took seriously as well for a moment. If I was being honest, I would try to attend as many of his games I could. If I had the chance, I surely would.

"I can't promise anything Mr. Chilwell, although be sure that I will be carrying around your number for good luck wherever I go. No matter the game or stadium. Trust me." I was being truthful. If Ben performed so great tonight, I was sure that this good performance would continue in the following games.

Summary: No one will miss a ghost. It'd been a running joke for as long as anyone could remember, something Ghost herself started, and she always said it with a smile on her face or with mirth in her voice. The untouchable stealth pilot in every sense of the word, no one could've predicted the depth of her turmoil over recent events, nor the extremes she would go to in order to protect the man she loved, not even those closest to her. Now, all that was left of the young aviator for Maverick, Hangman, and Rooster were the memories of the past, which would slowly fade with time. She'd come into their lives and made an unforgettable impression, and then, like a ghost, she was gone... Then again, ghosts can't die a second time.

Maverick

If there was one wish Pete Mitchell had in life, it was for Bradley to never experience the grief and heartache that he had when Goose died in his arms. It was something a person could never truly come back from. It was a memory Maverick brought with him every time he launched for a mission, real and practice. 

Flying low over the site where Rooster and Ghost ejected, seeing his son cradling Ghost's body in the dark waves... Maverick had déjà vu. The sight made him want to vomit. Thank God Hangman hadn't seen it sooner. Thank God he had focused on the last enemy and had taken it out because if he had witnessed the scene beforehand, he surely would be as incapable of functioning as Maverick. 

Of course, he did come upon it afterward, and he demanded an update, but not a single soul would provide one. Maverick could hear the fear and desperation in the young pilot, the same emotions threatening to overwhelm Maverick, but the smallest yet most convincing voice told him to keep it together for Hangman's sake, for Bradley's sake, for his sake. Maverick couldn't face the idea of losing Ghost until his feet were on solid ground. He needed to have something underneath him to collapse on.

Hangman and Maverick circled the crash site until the rescue chopper arrived. Then, they stayed until it left, following the helicopter back and requesting to land the moment the craft set down on the carrier. Permission was granted. 

Maverick had never climbed out of a plane so fast. He raced toward sick bay with Hangman on his heels. Both men shouted at the others to get out of the way until they reached their destination, just in time to see Ghost be wheeled into the operating room, her pallor deathly pale and blue. A gurney transporting Rooster into another surgery room wasn't far behind. Maverick staggered back, unable to process the situation before him. His son, his daughter...

Hangman collapsed against the wall, bracing himself on his knees. Maverick placed a comforting hand on the aviator's back. If any words would've helped calm him down, Mav would've said them, but there weren't. He knew because the only statement to give him relief would be that Ghost and Rooster were going to be okay, but Maverick didn't know that, so he stayed quiet.

"Captain Mitchell, Lieutenant Seresin," Cyclone said, his typically commanding voice wavering. "My office. Now."

With lead feet, Maverick followed the admiral. Hangman shuffled weakly behind him. No one spoke a word until they stood behind closed doors. Warlock already stood in the office, staring out at the sea through the porthole, but he faced the men when they arrived. Cyclone sat in his chair and set his gaze upon the two pilots. Maverick ran through a million responses to the million questions the admiral could start with, but he had no answer to the one Cyclone did: "Are you two okay?"

Maverick cleared his throat, mainly to remove the knot from it. "We'll be better once we have an update on Rooster and Ghost, sir."

"Once I receive word on their condition, I'll let you know immediately. Now, what happened up there? How did this happen? Start from the beginning."

Shockingly, Hangman spoke up. "From what Maverick and I gathered, Ghost and Rooster survived their initial ejections and regrouped. Somehow, they stole an enemy plane and took off without interference from the terrorists."

"How did you know it was them?" Cyclone inquired.

"Ghost pulled a Cobra maneuver and got behind me, but instead of shooting me, disengaged and headed toward the three enemy fighters and took one of them out. I flew close enough to them at one point and recognized Rooster's helmet in the back. Maverick and I both confirmed it when we were over the ocean and flew alongside them."

"Why did they have to eject?"

Maverick clenched his hands behind his back as he answered, "They flew through my jetwash, sir. They were behind me, and I had to pull up suddenly. Ghost tried to get out of the way in time but-"

"Her focus was on Rooster," Hangman jumped in. "She kept turning around to look at him, and he wasn't moving except when the plane moved, so I think he passed out. I'm sorry, sir, but that's all we've been able to conclude."

I nearly killed them. I should've moved out of the way sooner. I should've led the plane away from them. I should've-

"I see. I guess we'll have to get the full story from Lieutenants Winchester and Bradshaw. Warlock, escort Lieutenant Seresin to your office and have him write up an incident report. Captain Mitchell, I need you to remain behind for a moment."

Maverick and Hangman shared a concerned glance, but neither said a word. The pilot and the rear admiral exited the room. Cyclone stood and walked over to the window. "Maverick, I understand you feel responsible for the aviators you take under your wing, almost like they are your own kids, especially Rooster and Ghost. However, just because you develop familial relationships with your pilots does not mean you can call them your son or daughter as a tactic to convince me to launch you in a time of crisis."

"I wasn't calling Ghost my daughter for the hell of it, sir," Maverick said defensively. "She is my daughter."

Hangman

He hated leaving Maverick behind, questioning what Cyclone wanted to talk to the captain about. Hopefully, he didn't berate Maverick. The pilot didn't deserve any reprimanding of the sort. Hangman knew that Maverick, like him, could think of nothing but Ghost and Rooster's wellbeing, if they were okay, if they were alive. To go through everything they did, it was a wonder they didn't die after their first ejection. To survive a second one, most likely with pre-existing injuries... it seemed unfathomable, even for Ghost, who had a habit of knocking on death's door and running away before he answered. One day, he'd catch up to her. Hopefully, that wasn't today.

Still, the image of Ghost- eyes closed, unmoving, and blue in the face- being wheeled into surgery for God knows what refused to leave his mind. Even after taking his time to change out of his flight gear, even after taking a long shower, even after changing into clean, comfortable clothes, Hangman found himself about to break, so he headed to the only place he could think of. Keeping his head down, Jake navigated through the carrier to the main hangar. He found a quiet spot with a view of the black sky and sea, away from prying eyes so no one could see the tears welling in his eyes. Hangman pulled out his phone and opened up his photos, scrolling slowly through his old ones of him and Ghost. There were photos of him and Ghost in Puerto Vallarta with their families during high school, pictures of them at school dances, their first, exhausting days at the Naval academy where both of them looked ready to murder someone, namely themselves for choosing this career path, although flying jets certainly made up for it. However, the first memory that caused a smile to spread across his face, temporarily breaking through his melancholy, was of Ghost and Ghoul having a sisterly chat about Ghost's newfound relationship with Hangman. Ghoul had made some raunchy comment, and her sister chucked a pillow at her. 

Hangman watched a few times before moving on. The next video that appeared was of Ghost watching The Winter Soldier for the first time and her excitement for one of the end scenes while eating a bowl of cereal. She had almost dumped it on the couch because she got so into the movie, but Ghost caught herself and the bowl in time.

The last one he could bear to watch was a more recent video of Ghost chatting and drinking with the Daggers. The background noise all but masked the conversation, but Hangman could still tell she enjoyed herself, despite the wistful glances in Rooster and Bryn's direction.

Where had everything gone so wrong? How had Ghost made such a miscalculation when trying to cut off the enemy? Had she meant to do it? Hangman recognized she'd been going through the wringer between losing her mom, falling out with Rooster, with Bryn temporarily, and Jake himself, having no family left... it couldn't be easy. But had it gotten that bad that he hadn't seen it? Of course, they'd been at odds for the past couple of weeks. If it had been this upsetting to her, he wouldn't have had time to notice, and if Ghost died, it'd be his fault for creating the mess they were in.

I'm not ready to lose her, God. He prayed, staring down at his clenched hands. It's not her time to go. I know it. Please, God. Let her pull through this. She didn't come this far to die now.

Soft footsteps approached from behind, and Hangman hoped whoever it was didn't find him silently weeping behind the boxes. 

"Hangman?" Maverick's fatherly tone caused Jake to look up involuntarily. He saw the captain through blurred tears. "How are you holding up?"

If it had been anyone else- Cyclone, Warlock, another of the Daggers, even Rooster- Hangman would've lied and said he was good. But Maverick was different. Maverick had been there. He knew better. "Not well," Jake admitted, sniffling and looking back down. "I'm not ready to lose a wingman, let alone Ghost. Especially Ghost..."

Maverick sat next to him. "It's why you like flying alone."

"Yes, sir. How did you know?"

"Because I'm the same way. It usually comes from losing one prior. Who was it for you?"

Hangman sighed, shifting his gaze to the white caps in the black water formed by the cruising carrier. "Ghoul, Ghost's sister. We were almost as close as I was to Ghost. She was my sister too. Before I started dating Ghost, and the three of us would go out to bars, Ghoul would be my wingman in helping me pick up girls," he admitted, smiling at the memory. "I wasn't as confident back then as I am now, so she helped me out. When she died, it felt like I'd lost my wingman, and it killed a little bit of my soul. I didn't want to feel that way again. I get people think I'm going to leave them hanging in the air, but that's not the case. I'd rather fly alone than be in a team because I don't want anyone dying on my watch."

"How did you get your callsign?"

"It was one of the many reasons Rooster and I became at odds with each other, but he gave it to me unwittingly. We'd been up in the air together for a practice hop, and I left him to go take care of one of the enemies. I got mine, he got taken out, and he called me a 'God damn Hangman.' Well, it stuck, and that sowed the seeds of our rivalry. Then we both fell in love with Ghost, and it all went to hell."

"Did she know that?"

"I told her Rooster was into her, but she didn't believe me. I chose not to push it, hoping if she never saw his interest, she would never pursue him. Of course, I stupidly ended up breaking things off with her, and they'd maintained their friendship, so she went to him for support, he was gladly there for her, and that was the beginning of the end for us. Even when we got back together, there was always this little fear in me that part of her heart belonged to Rooster, that it'd be there even if I asked her to marry me, and that overthinking caused me to be my own worst enemy. I unintentionally distanced myself from her, she broke up with me thinking I was about to do the same, and I didn't chase after her... I don't have many regrets in life, but that's my biggest. I should've treated her better, I should've trusted her more, and now I've lost her, possibly for good, and I don't know what to do. I never- I never thought she'd be the one I lost up there. Ghost is... Ghost. You can't kill a ghost a second time."

"I mean, technically, you can in the Supernatural world," Maverick said. The unexpected joke and surprise that the famous Pete Mitchell watched the show caused Hangman to let out a brief but genuine chuckle. Judging by the slight smile on the captain's face, it'd been an intentional one to break through Jake's melancholy. He had needed.

"Captain Mitchell, Lieutenant Seresin." Maverick whirled around at the sound of Cyclone's voice behind them, but Hangman kept his head down, taking a few deep breaths to clear the tears from his eyes before he looked up to face the news he dreaded. Finally gathering the courage, he met Cyclone's eyes. Tears blurred his vision. The admiral continued, "Rooster is out of surgery and is awake and talking if you'd like to see him."

Maverick's shoulders sagged in relief. "Thank you, sir. We'll head there shortly. And Ghost?"

"I'm sorry, but I don't have an update on her yet. She's still in surgery." Cyclone bid the men goodnight, and Maverick turned to Hangman.

"You ready to head over?" he asked. "Or do you need some more time?"

"No, no, I'm good. I want to talk to Rooster, find out what happened out there," Hangman replied, wiping the tears from his face. "Hey, Mav? Before we go, can I ask you something?"

"Of course."

"Earlier, when you tried convincing Cyclone to let us launch, you called Ghost your daughter. Is there- are you-"

Maverick winced slightly. "It was a slip of the tongue. Don't worry about it. You ready?"

Hangman cleared his throat and his mind. "Yes, sir. Let's go."

Yes, I'm confirming it now, I did go to Stuyvesant High School.

hi guys, today's my brother's birthday, everyone wish him a happy birthday. anyways i really didn't have a reason to make this post, but here goes.

if you don't know what stuyvesant high school is, that's fine, you don't need to. if you do know what it is, then great, you'll know how prestigious it is. i already hinted at this in my aug 2022 post, but here's an official confirmation.

and i'm surprised no one realized sooner. the path traced out in this post perfectly lines up with the area around the school. and the photos in this post were literally taken from inside the school.

one thing i valued really highly was my ability to balance both my school life and my tumblr blog (i'm surprised i managed to do so in hindsight). the 2020 pandemic definitely made it easier, as my 10th and 11th grade years were now spent in front of a screen where i could be online all day.

i graduated as a pretty average student academically, although the one thing i regret is not utilizing the available resources as well as i could've.

the reason i had a public meltdown on tumblr in jun 2022 is because i was scared to make much the same post you're reading right now. i was going to college and couldn't stay active online for much longer, and i wanted to do a face reveal and quit tumblr for good (the quote "you either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain" greatly informed my actions during this time).

but many months have passed since then, i've been allowed time to reflect, and i realized that– i'm not a two-dimensional character. i don't die at the peak of my fame. i'm still alive.

i still hold the value of an education in high regard, though that may sound cheap coming from someone who poured hours a day into an online fandom. it's just... my story is one you can learn from, not one to be replicated. stay in school.

will i be returning to using this blog regularly? probably not. i realize there's nothing here for me to have fun doing anymore, and mineblr is a shadow of its former glory—no matter now much i wish for it to be otherwise.

maybe i'll reconsider when deltarune ch. 3 comes out. or if minecraft has a second renaissance. or if the GD community takes off here, or better yet, if update 2.2 comes out. or if the walten files ep. 4 comes out. could you imagine that?

anyways, i'll leave you with a few additional fun facts you might not have known:

i appeared on my school website's home page one time, wearing my halloween costume.

beware the fake allies.

one day you could wake up finding out they said """jokingly""" that "inclusion is for disableds".

(i wonder if they will give up the rights and aids they have now and will have in life, since "it's only for disableds"... hypocrisy of them, if you ask me.

there's so many prejudices in that single phrase i get more stressed every time i think about it... ugh.

everyone deserves inclusivity and aids, disabled or not. and "disabled" isn't something to be used to mock people like that. it's not a slur, and it's not wrong to exist as a disabled person.)

mine weren't even fake allies when they were next to me, but they look like "allies" to the ones that meet them without knowing how much prejudice they hold against others — and they base it on religion, what makes it even worse.

in these people's backs, they turn their existence into a punchline. they see nothing more than a joke, except they also view it as a sin if they have a belief that says so. ironic that, while thinking like this, they make their religion look like an inconvenience.

at times they come with the "we should always be welcoming to new people", but only waiting these people to "change" who they are; they hold these people in the places they practice their religion out of a wish to get what they call "sin" out of these people's lives, and while at it, they joke about who these are.

i'm happy that i'm an atheist; i only wish they could've let me express this conclusion about what i believe at peace, and sooner.

(this rant was among my notes for a year now, updated it a bit 'cause it somewhat feels worth sharing. just a few months after i wrote it, i cut the people i was ranting about out of my life, and it all feels so much better without them ✨)

30.I Trapped the Devil And this is why you never do surprise visits. Either that or call ahead and touch base long beforehand. It was a bit interesting that the ambiguity of whether it was actually anything supernatural went out sooner then I expected. Then again, if the devil can't keep lying to you, messing with your head would be his plan B. Of course, that means this had to be 90% atmosphere. How much you want to bet he could've easily left the whole time; this was just more fun?

29.Slay Belles

28.P2 Actually a bit similar to Better Watch Out, and while that one looks better visually, I rank this one higher because I believed this villain felt a little more like a real person. Lately, villains that are both masterminds and immature man-children disinterest me, because I can't reconcile those two traits in my head these days. I have a easier time if it's one or the other. Plus, maybe the grungier surrounding felt more appropriate because a too whimsical approach to this "Men are afraid that women will laugh at them. Women are afraid that men will kill them" just rubs the wrong way.

That being said, yeah this location loses some of it's scare factor when it becomes monotonous and hard to navigate. I would've appreciate just a little more variety in the locations used I guess. The use of music is nice at least. Also appreciated how bloody the kills are.

27.The Advent Calendar While the gimmick itself seems to be the only link, I liked the idea of tying "Be careful what you wished for" horror stories to Christmas. Blame George Bailey.

That being said, there's an argument that the conceit of the main character is rather ableist. I can roll with it this time since her previous job and passion, dancing, heavily depended on having working legs, so it's easier to buy. For once, I'd like more disabled characters whose job and hobbies DON'T require it and so can visibly cope. It's getting frustrating.

I did love how open ended they left it. Sometimes, there being a choice at all is more important for a story then what the characters actually chose. Kinda don't want a sequel because of it.

26.Cronos To be honest, this would've actually ranked much higher if it used more iconography. Hell, it becomes New Years halfway through. I get why it's invoked though. It's interesting to go back to the start of Del Toro's career, with one of the most unique vampire movies I've ever seen.

In most body horror set ups like this, Gris would become the main threat, instead of remaining the victim pretty much throughout. I don't think he even kills anyone for their blood.

Vampires are at their most interesting, as a concept and as characters, when they're always in control of their choices, good and bad. Otherwise, why not pick zombies or werewolves?

It's pretty amazing that right out the gate, Del Toro took arguably the most popular monster type of all time, and likened it to a gentle grandparent. Great tone setter for his whole filmography, in hindsight.

20.Red Snow Yet another Vampire Christmas movie. This time, with a reality check that most of them would be arseholes. Not necessarily wild beasts. That would almost be an improvement.

The movie also keeps you guessing over what side Luke would fall to in the end. Given the way the actor plays it like even he doesn't seem to know is a good touch. And his feedback on the book's characters; snipes at the tropes or his own insecurity? You tell me.

Poor Olivia thought she was getting her own version of Twilight, and instead got Blade by way of Fargo. That sentence is utter nonsense without the context. I would say I want to see a show or movie like that, but I could probably get that fix by just catching up on What We Do in The Shadows. Not that this is anything like that though.

Remember, vampires aren't evil because they're not human at all. They're evil because they kept the worst parts of being human.

19.Pooka Went in thinking tis would be an update of Christmas Evil, but it's more like a Xmas-themed Angel Heart. An obvious commentary on how soul draining working heavily in consumerism can be, masking how bad and traumatized people can do mental gymnastics to avoid the hard truth about their mistakes. Literally, the worst possible Christmas I've seen that didn't have a typical killer. Of course, that twist ending reminds me of...

17.Black Friday (2021) Also works as a Thanksgiving movie. Anyone's whose worked in a place that affected by Black Friday or Christmas shopping in general FEELS this movie in their bones. Even before the zombies show up. This is why I stay indoors or at work during these days. Sure, the titular day means less and less every year, but let's continue the trend.

15.It's a Wonderful Knife Remake a holiday classic, but make George Bailey a lesbian and Mr. Potter a low rent Trump (Oh god, is that saying a lot!) that gets so fed up that he goes on a killing spree dressed in what would happen if Ghostface bleached his entire costume? Sure, why not. Give the killer Santas a break. And you get to kill him twice.

Although, that third act superpower makes absolutely no sense. I get that it's meant to secure a few plot points together, but...just no. Seriously, where did it even come from? Also, even though how the love interest remembers it is making my head spin. Not how she remembers, but if she remembers both timelines. What problems would come if she only remembers one? And Joel McHale is way too good playing a prick then as a loving dad, I'm sorry. Community has ruined me for him.

Like the subtext of it all though. The messaging, I mean. Y'know given the fiasco going on lately behind the scenes with Scream VII, maybe I'll just pretend this is the real Scream VII. We'll see.

Pleas tell me the antichrist was fake in this and what we had was one of the insane yet friendliest rampages committed to film! 6.Silent Night (2021) Surprised? Maybe it's here because I over thought how the significance of the holiday tied in with the apocalypse in this movie. I'm sure if you went back far enough in history, hundreds or thousands of years ago, anytime winter rolled around seemed apocalyptic to people. Of course, mostly to the lower classes. And now with a hypothetical scenario that can feel as bad as those times must have felt, rather then actually tough it out or try to learn from, the government and the upper class jump to take the cowards way out. A little Poe, isn't it?

Cue one of the more depressing then maybe hopeful endings to one of these movies. (Depends to how you react to the very last shot and believe about the plot point concerning the homeless and immigrants)

I know it's been a long time, but I was wondering if there was any updates on the status of The Rift That Tore This World in Two? No pressure, I was just curious given I just finished my twenty-eighth reread (according to AO3 history) after falling back into the Naruto rabbithole (after leaving it for like, 3 years, sheesh this brings me back).

Regardless of whether or not you have an update planned for that fic, I just want you to know that I love it very much and I'm so happy with what you've already put out; of course I would love for there to be more, but what we already have is more than I could have expected. Yugito & Naruto, particularly, is a friendship I wished could've been explored more and your fic gave me everything I was hoping for and more. It's one of my all-time favourites, being that it's centered around the jinchuuriki and explores the individual relationships between each one. And the worldbuilding is absolutely insane, so much so I don't think I have the word count to properly describe how I feel about it. I have absolutely fallen in love with this fic, more so than any other. You are the kind of writer I aspire to be.

This has gotten a little offtrack haha, I apologise for that. Basically... even if there isn't a status update on the fic, or any planned update in the near future, I just wanted to say thank you so much for The Rift That Tore This World in Two, it's gotten me through many shit days by making me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

I never imagined someone would read Rift so much, it’s really exciting for me! I was smiling for like an hour after I read this you really made my week.

I do have a status update available. The first half of the next chapter is written and I’ve been picking away at the second half. It’s definitely going to be slow going on updates but my goal is to get at least one chapter out per year. Fingers crossed it will happen sooner.

I have the rest of the story all plotted out already, so I want to finish it. It will get there someday!

Got the news that my absentee father died this morning. I always figured he'd die eventually, especially given his lifestyle, but whenever I thought about it I always imagined it in some far-off distant future. It hit a lot sooner than I expected. I wasn't really sure how to feel about it at first. We haven't really had a relationship, especially these past few years. But I'm...I guess I'm grieving, regardless. The saddest part to me is the potential he had, that he just threw away. He could be a good person when he chose to be. He was an artist, and loved animals. He could have immersed himself in art or, hell, even created an animal rescue. He definitely could have made that happen if he chose to, he was good at manifesting things (both good and bad.) Just...he could've contributed something to the world. Really, he should have died multiple times over by now, it's honestly surprising he lived this long.

I knew it was a pipe dream, but sometimes I'd fantasize about him getting his shit together and making amends, so that he could finally start to be a father and be present in my life. Now that's never going to happen.

I've been having...sensations, physical flashbacks. I was in the car with my mom today and suddenly was 4 years old, in the car with him driving, drinking Pepsi because that's what he always had around. When I got home and walked in the front door it smelled like his trailer, and I thought of the ridiculously huge bags of cereal he used to buy.

I've been having to skip songs on my playlist that I had no problem listening to just yesterday, because I know they'll set me off.

I don't expect anything- his family and I aren't exactly close, but part of me wishes they offered to send some belongings. Even a shirt of his or something.

I don't know if anyone will even give this post the time of day. Just had to update.
