what i wrote about kafka’s nihilism was not entirely true, and i did it on purpose because R doesn’t know her. i do think that nihilism/finality creates a certain distance between her and accountability. when you tell yourself that this outcome was always a possibility, that it could have happened anyway, the choice you make is no longer fully yours which means that the consequences aren’t fully on your shoulders as well. i think that makes it easier for the stellaron hunters to do what they do, that and the goal they’re working towards that is supposedly the best outcome for humanity. but kafka is anything but passive. she is not “subjected” to things, she has an active role in her future and the ones of the millions of people that it touches within the constraints of destiny. i think with nihilism it’s easy to fall into a state of learned helplessness, where you suffer through the things happening to you because “nothing matters” and “it was going to happen anyway”, but kafka is not like that at all. “if destiny doesn’t propel me forward, i’ll be the one to push destiny”— this is what she does, so describing her as a drop in the ocean isnt entirely accurate because she’s making waves. R will learn that

himeko and kafka have crossed paths canonically before the trailblazer so it’s the same in this. i like that himeko has an opinion of kafka that has been cemented through their brief meetings over the time. in that one “keeping up with star rail” where kafka’s kit is presented, hime has a lot of shit to say about her 😭 all bad. she’s also aware that kafka plays mind games in it so really for her to hear “kafka manipulated me” was like “fork found in kitchen” there’s no surprise there. one of my favorite qualities in hime is her understanding and ability to understand multiple perspectives at once, it develops her already deep empathy and its just very admirable. shes a very soft character, i love her

Let’s get one thing clear, both Jensen and Danneel show disdain and contempt for each other. Both have displayed less than ideal partner behaviour. Not sure what this anon was reading at the time but my guess is they saw one of my posts in which I mentioned Jensen was not behaving like a stand up husband.

There’s this narrative going around that vilifies Danneel without giving Jensen responsibility. That basically makes Jensen into a baby easily controlled by the evil, manipulative, witch Danneel.

I’m not saying Danneel can’t be manipulative, I’ve always called her out when she has been. I’m saying there’s an entire dedicated side of fandom that basically views Jensen as an abused baby who is no longer in control of his life. I’ll admit that, in the beginning, I too fell for these narratives but, over time, observing Jensen’s choices, it became clear where his values lie. He’s not the ideal husband, he’s career centered, he never takes responsibility for anything, everything is on Elta. Those are not the signs of an abused man but rather a man that has created a life of convenience and for whom family life comes second. I’m really tired of receiving anon messages about Jensen being abused.

Is Elta demeaning, devaluing and all of that? Yes, undeniably.

Is Jensen powerless? In no way, shape or form!!

If he is in a marriage with Danneel is because he chooses to be as long as it is convenient to his lifestyle. He lets her get away with certain behaviours as long as it serves him.

Jensen is a highly privileged man who holds all the cards when it comes to his career and personal life. Let’s please stop pretending he is a helpless baby run by Danneel the witch. Again, I know she’s manipulative but, at the end of the day, everything she is allowed is thanks to Jensen. The very reason she even has children is thanks to Jensen, her recent roles and titles - thanks to Jensen, recent press - thanks to Jensen, getting away with being condescending and devaluing on stage - thanks to Jensen. It’s a choice, at the end of the day.

While I have zero doubt he is unhappy due to the choices he’s made so far, I no longer blame Danneel for his misery because he holds the power to change his path entirely. Many actors in toxic relationships have divorced and still enjoy a career so if Jensen is holding back from divorcing it’s due to choosing to stay in a relationship where both partners feed off each other’s unhealthy dynamics.

It takes two people to form a dynamic. Let’s give responsibility where it is due, because being responsible for one’s own boundaries, wellbeing, life path is where freedom and healing begin. Being responsible is being empowered as opposed to power-less. Shitty person as she may be, Danneel is fully supported in her shenanigans by Jensen, he approves of her everything so let’s stop pretending like she’s some supernatural evil thing that moves in the dark and start acknowledging just how much Jensen enables her and, while we are at it, start acknowledging he’s no angel either. Essay under the cut, obviously minecraft diaries spoilers.

Vylad Ro'Meave is so heavily forgotten, but the ENTIRE story cannot be told without him. Despite his few and far in between appearances especially within season 1, he was the cogs of every major event.

He was the one who brought Aphmau to Phoenix Drop in the first place. If he hadnt done that, or had brought her anywhere else the story would be different from the very beggining. It was his deep rooted love for his family, his brother, that brought him to leave her there. An excuse, to watch over his brother despite knowing he himself could not reach out.

We dont know a whole lot about how Shadow Knights work, but we know they are fundementally no longer human. Shells of what once was perhaps, but no longer functioning on the needs of a human. How long would it take to forget those needs when one has no such urgency for them?

Despite his lack of need to eat, rest, to simply be human, Vylad single handedly took a baby halfway across the Ru'aun region. Which is over a weeks journey when Aphmau made the same trek in search of Levins mother, AND she had a horse for part of it, which effectively evened out the time she spent with the crime scene in the neopolitian villages along the way.

Vylad did it in the shadows, hiding and sneaking the whole way there. While tending to a nearly newborn baby, despite never doing so before and not being human enough to have the same needs. He managed to do that, extending the length it probably took, just to bring Levin to Aphmaus door.

He gave up years of freedom for the story.

When Aphmau and Laurance entered the shadow realm in search of saving the chicken shaman, they only just made an escape. Laurance stayed behind, but Vylad was the one who saved Aphmau and Castor. He was the one who shut the portal. He couldnt do anything for Laurance then, but he did everything he could.

He suffered for that choice. He was imprisoned, and tortured for sealing the shadow realm off from the mortal realm once more. Vylad was sent to rot in that cell, with no one to his side but Laurance.

Laurance had been the only visitor who still saw Vylad as something other then a traitor, and saw him as a person. He made a promise to get Vylad out of there, but ultimately Ungrth came to save Laurance, leaving Vylad to continue to lay waiting.

We know that time works differently between the realms, the shadow realm/nether has a slower passage of time then the overworld, but not as slow as irenes dimension. A overworld day is several weeks in the shadow realm, prolonging the true amount of time Vylad remained prisoner.

In season 2 Zenix's rampage of the shadow realm began, and thus gave way to Vylads escape. We dont know if he had been out of his cell before that or not, presumably not, but he was the only one known to leave the portal- as he stayed guard in the abandon werewolf village outside it from the day he escaped.

We can presume he spent the whole 15 years imprisoned, multiplied by the time passage difference, he effectively spent over 200 years imprisoned for helping Aphmau escape.

And upon Aphmau finding him there, her first instinct is to lie to him when he asks about Garroth. And tells him hes dead.

Her first full conversation with him, and she sends him into a full blown mental breakdown in the first 5 minutes.

Of course after Aph tells him the truth, and about the portal, and everything else going on, Vylad chooses to go with her. He finally begins to hold more presence in the story, but still is commonly off screen.

Such as in Nahakra village arc, he isnt around until the very end when the group is forced to flee. He is seen burning any maps and books containing information on Phoenix Drop, aside from the Ru'aun map they take with them. While everyone else was hurried and running, Vylad was doing what he could to keep Tu'la from knowing about the other side of the region, to protect Phoenix Drop as best he could.

Vylad fades into the background again, until the journey to find a new home for the phoenix alliance begins. It is when they arrive at the island that he really makes a pivotal scene, being the one to confront Laurance.

Its a mostly off screen development, Vylad seeking out Laurance to help him. No one asked him to, but he saw Laurance struggling between his remaining humanity and the calling of his shadow knight being. He was also the one who followed Laurance when he started to go awol, keeping a silent watchful eye on him.

When things went from bad to worse, he went to Aphmau to tell her about Laurance. At the same time as Aaron died and Garroth was free from the irene dimension. Although a awkward revelation, Vylad and Garroths short reunion is one of the most important scenes to me in the story.

Two brothers who cared deep for family, reunited for the first time in atleast two decades.

On the journey to the new home of the phoenix alliance, Vylad had told Aphmau he died by murder, stabbed in the back. Heres my theory, that i always tell anyone who will listen.

I believe Zane is the one who is at fault for Vylads murder.

Zane was always corrupt, as in Garroths recollections of his younger brother, and simply in every single action we see Zane take. We know by Vylads retelling, Zane despised his half-brother. He never saw Vylad as his family, he thought of him as less than dirt and often didnt acknowledge him.

Either Zane himself was the one to stab and kill Vylad, or he had been the one to hire someone to do it. Both are likely, he would do it himself for the pure enjoyment of disposing of Vylad, or hire someone else to do it just to ensure everything went to his wicked plans and the world would be none the wiser to the truth of his demise.

But despite his death and rebirth as a shadow knight, he kept that deep-rooted love for family that he should have casted aside.

He has 0 hesitation when he follows Garroth to O'Khasis when he finds out about thier mothers impending execution. The two of course went on a rampage to free her, and after end up going to Hyria's to learn more of the past history.

Thus, when the others learn of Vylad bringing Aphmau to Phoenix Drop.

One prominent fact about Vylad that is shown so clearly, is his hyppocracy.

When hes telling Aphmau about how Laurance was struggling because of his clinging to his humanity and his emotions, hes acting as if he himself has truly rid himself of emotions.

But he did not. His love is deep within him, his caring and his kindness. That is why he continously fought for his family, protecting his mother and elder brother with his everything, risking his life and his freedom for near strangers.

Yet, he thinks of himself as a bad person.

" One good deed does not fix a thousand wrongs done. " he had said, but he has a list of good deeds he has done.

He did follow the demands of the Shadow Lord when he first became a shadow knight, but at the same time he was already branching away from orders.

He is also the only shadow knight whom we know never attempted to gain immortality, or felt the urge of it. (Aside from Amethyst, the old woman from Pikoro, who we dont know much more then she is no longer a active Shadow Knight.)

Even Laurance left because he felt the calling too strong, and as stated by Sasha at the end of season 2, Aphmau would be killed if Laurance tried to see her again.

In what was made of the third season, Vylad has gone off screen once more. We were told about Garte escaping into Tu'La, and Vylad went after him.

We dont know precisely why Vylad went after his so called adoptive father, but my hopes and theory is that he was playing executioner. He should be the one to hold Garte accountable for the crimes he had done to his people, and for his misstreatment of family.

After all, if Garte had been a good man, Vylad would never have been born. But his neglect of his family had led to Zianna's affair, and Vylads birth. Even then wasnt enough to bring Garte permanently out of his tyranny.

If Vylad were to be the one to kill Garte, he supposedly should gain his immortality. To kill a lord, who is also family. Though Vylad could never claim to love Garte im sure, and he never would even before his death. But the lordship may be enough to give Vylad immortality.

We know that gaining immortality is not a immediate end for a kind shadow knights good heart, as Vincent has his immortality, and yet Cadenza trusts him fully; and he is absolutely devoted to protecting his home, his people.

Vylad gaining immortality, would overall be a good thing for him. He out of everyone knows how good people do not live forever, while the evilest in the world live with longevity. With his immortality, he would rewrite his sins, atoning for them by living a eternity fighting against the monster from which he was reborn.

☠️ - a few !! Uhh Brain/Brian off the top of my head does . Bubblegum pink fucking hair + lip and nose piercing's . a lot of the phighters have pure white/black hair with colored highlights but idk if those count cuz they're natural and not died ,, more of our headmates dont have hair ngl (incredibly nonhuman freaks /aff) .

👻 - twice over and it was awful both times . first time we got clocked by a system friend . 7th grade and irl . we're dodging the hints she's dropping like bombs at this point dude . then the hints hit us in the head (at some point ??) and we go "hm ! system !" and THEN we get pulled out of public school and . I think through some combination of stress + repression + a host switch-up we FORGOT WE WERE A SYSTEM . I distinctly remember telling my friend that we had a sys friend irl but we never thought we could be a system at all . Turns out ! We sure did !

The second time was slower I think . Still rlly fast for a syscovery but hey it works . Online friend we met about a year back goes "oh . oh honey you are sooo mentally ill" and I go "haha I would NEVER be autistic or have adhd or have depression or have insomnia or ha-" and I get hit directly in the fact with the fact that . hm . i show a loootta system traits ..... hmmm .... So said friend introduces me to pk (pluralkit) , i make a couple bots w/ names we've liked over the years , give some of them face claims , and like ,, two weeks later we're pretty confident in the whole being a system thing . The voices i would talk to in my head start getting more distinct voices/we can tell them apart easier , headspace was easier to both manage and access , the works . I think we were all brainmades until about a month in ? Congrats to Seven of Nine for being our first fictive (logged) btw . Does not shock me at all .

Like I personally identify as scorpion kin (a scorpion kin ? would therian be more accurate [animal] ??? fuck if i know) because I have a lot of scorpion traits in headspace (scorpion tail , exoskeletal plates along my body , various scorpion-related instincts , the works) but I know a lot of our other Subspaces do not kin scorpions despite having the same traits as me because . haha thanks for the reply :) the main reason i decided to ask you is actually bc of anam cara btw, i was just like "damn the author of anam cara thinks like this??? but then writes anam cara? smth doesnt add up here 🤔". glad to know this is the same person LOL anyway yeah i have been with anam cara for 20.3(?) chapters now and a couple days ago i think i just made the biggest decision in my fiction reading career and that is to drop it (omg how insane is that that im publicly announcing to the author that ey yo im not reading yo fic no more lolll but i've decided to send you an ask so here we are)

you wrote absolutely beautiful and the seccs sometimes hit so hard but at one point i think it's too heavy of a story for me :'( i love long fics but this one is just too heavy on the infidelity that my conservative little brain just cant take it. and i dont mean leon and ash cheating on other ppl with eachother, but leon and ash cheating on eachother with other ppl. obviously that's not true bc they arent in a relationship, but for a leshley fic where it's expected for them to be with one another, i didnt expect to read that during times when they dont do it, they do it with other ppl. and then ash also dates/sleeps with other ppl while she's doing it with leon and when he's celibate, like ughhh it physically pains me 😭😭

but yeah that is my personal feeling and preference while reading fics; i just dont want to know that my favs are getting it from other ppl, im not interested to hear their past and especially not interested in knowing that they still do it in the present. when i read smth i just want the focus to be on them, bc consuming fiction is about comfort and that is what brings me comfort.

anyway hey ME TOO 🤝 my ass hella conservative as well! oh boy you have no idea. every chapter is about 30% pushing through religious guilt aside from going against the common sense of "what decent person would do this". tell you what though, tbh it’s also why it’s in the direction it is taking now: so anyone who’s been made uncomfortable by the entire premise (myself included) and has stuck with the thing would think “ohhh so we weren’t just fucking around…we’re also finding out 🤔”

additionally, though a bit off-tangent but if this helps substantiate the reason why it's "heavy"- everyone i knew who told me they read that thing was only either rooting for them or could only see a make/break dichotomy. whole time i’ve been sitting with the Secret Third Thing which was playing the long game (read: reckoning, among other things. lmao). it’s also why there are bits and pieces of how their respective lines of work have affected the fate of the world in there. ashley’s research, her NGO successfully getting reparations for the relatives of those who were zombified in raccoon city, united nations mention in ch. 21… and on leon's side of things, DSO and BSAA "harmonizing", some throwaway lines about biowarfare in asia, etc. … plot backdrop elements i hope i can write neatly in the ending bc part of the reason why they've been tweaking for 200k+ words is bc of the world they live in. obviously these last few are headcanons and how i’d wish capcom could give cohesion to the overarching world-building. i just care a lot i'm sorry ngahhhh 😭

also re: preference. oh absolutely! i respect it ✊ we consume fanfiction for comfort, not for additional stress. life is already painful enough haha! (just that i wanted that thing to be character-driven that's why they be making "tf is u doing girl??" kinda choices. in my head, them normalizing that they could just sleep with other ppl while being in that godforsaken situationship was also their way of minimizing the gravity of how down bad and doomed they actually are.)

also about the “cheating on each other” thing — i hear ya. though on my end it’s more of.. hmm how to say. you ever read gabriel garcia marquez’s love in the time of cholera? basically it’s a story of two lovers who met when they were young but the woman gets married to someone else for like ~50 years. the whole time the dude sleeps with many (MANY) women but his heart is reserved only for fermina daza (the female mc). i lowkey paid homage to that book when ashley said to leon in ch. 14 “i came, but not in the way that it mattered” (not gonna include the context, this answer is taking too long already) hehe does that make sense
