do you think you could add blade to your lucky egg list of characters you plan on writing for?
He's my very first 5-star character so he MUST be on the list.
LUCKY EGG
Yandere!Blade x Reader
The first moment you saw him, he emerged from the cracked egg like a specter from a forgotten legend. His dark hair spilled over his shoulders, crimson eyes catching the dim light like embers in the abyss. He said nothing at first, just stared at you, as if measuring your worth.
You swallowed. "...How did a person come out of an egg? Noâscratch that, how did you come out of an egg?"
He didn't answer. His gaze lingered on you a moment longer before he turned away, uninterested.
"At least tell me your name..."
"Blade."
From then on, he remained eerily silent, always watching, studying you in ways that made the hair on the back of your neck rise. He didn't sleep the first few nights, at least, not peacefully. The moment he shut his eyes, his breath would grow ragged, his body tense. When night fell, nightmares clawed at him relentlessly.
One night, you caught him gripping his own wrist so tightly it might bruise.
"Blade." You hesitated before reaching out. "Do you want me toâ"
Without thinking, you took his hand. His fingers twitched, but he didn't pull away. After a moment, his grip tightened, as if grounding himself in your warmth. He never thanked you, never even acknowledged it the next morning, but the nightmares were a little quieter that night.
Another evening, you caught him staring blankly at the ceiling, exhaustion creeping into his sharp features. Wordlessly, you handed him a cup of warm milk.
He frowned at it. "...What is this?"
"Something to help you sleep. Just drink it."
He scoffed but took a cautious sip. The warmth spread through his fingers as he held the cup, his expression unreadable.
Over time, small gestures like these eased him, though he never admitted it outright. Some nights, he would let you sit beside him until he dozed off. Once or twice, you even woke up to find that, at some point during the night, he had shifted closer, seeking out your presence in his sleep.
But it wasnât enough. You could tell the nightmares still haunted him. So you decided to seek out an expert in this field, someone who could truly help him.
When you told Blade, he barely reacted. "A waste of time."
"Just try it," you insisted. "It might help."
The expert used hypnosis, peeling back the layers of his trauma. Blade spoke little of what surfaced, but the session left him visibly disturbed. Later, the expert took you aside and explained what to do next.
"He trusts you more than he lets on" they said. "You need to be patient. Keep grounding him in the present. Make him feel that he belongs somewhere."
That night, Blade sat beside you, his usual cold demeanor slightly cracked. "What did they tell you?"
You hesitated before answering. "That youâre not beyond saving."
He scoffed, but for once, there was no bite to it. Just quiet resignation.
You met his gaze. "I want you to stay, Blade. Not just physically, but really stay."
His fingers twitched again, like that first night. But this time, when you reached out, he met you halfway.
Blade had always been silent, a looming shadow in your life since the day he hatched from the egg. At first, he simply observed, his piercing red eyes following your every move. He rarely spoke unless necessary, making it difficult to gauge what went on in his mind. But as the nights passed, the walls between you and him thinned.
One day, you decided to take him out, to a park, somewhere peaceful. It was just by chance that you ran into some old acquaintances. They greeted you with excitement, asking about your companion.
âOh, this is Bladeâ you introduced casually, glancing at him to see his reaction. As expected, his expression remained neutral, but you could feel his presence sharpen as he analyzed the strangers.
One of the women in the group, perhaps trying to be friendly, chuckled. âBlade? That sounds so serious. What if we call you Bladie?â
The atmosphere shifted in an instant. Bladeâs eyes darkened, and for a moment, the air felt unnervingly still. He said nothing, merely staring at her in a way that made her uneasy. You noticed the tension and quickly diffused it with a light laugh.
âI donât think he likes thatâ you remarked. Then, playfully, you turned to Blade. âBut if I called you that, would it be okay?â
Blade didnât answer immediately. His gaze softened only slightly when looking at you. â...Do as you wishâ he murmured, as if the answer was obvious.
Your friends found it amusing, teasing you lightly before parting ways. You glanced at Blade, whose expression remained unreadable, though you could sense the displeasure still lingering within him.
Later, financial reasons led you to enter a dungeon. Knowing its dangers, you told Blade to stay behind. At first, he obeyed, watching you leave without protest. But unbeknownst to you, he silently followed, keeping a close distance.
As you ventured deeper into the dungeon, Blade carefully observed your every movement. He studied how dungeons worked, how enemies moved, and how rewards were obtained. Then, at some point, he disappeared from your sight not because he was gone, but because he had started taking his own steps in this world.
Without your knowledge, Blade began sneaking out to complete dungeon tasks. He learned how to wield weapons with deadly efficiency, acquiring items to strengthen himself. It was a quiet preparation, one he never spoke of. If he was to stay by your side, he wouldnât remain a mere observer. He would carve his own path, one that ensured he would never be powerless to protect you.
The night air was heavy with an eerie silence as Blade sat motionless by the window, eyes unfocused as he stared into the void beyond the glass. You sat beside him, watching the tension coil in his shoulders. He had been like this for a whileâsilent, withdrawn, but always alert, as if something unseen lurked at the edge of his vision.
"Blade?" you called softly.
He didnât respond at first. The nightmares had worsened since he entered the dungeon. At first, you assumed he was just tired, but then you started waking up in the middle of the night to find him gripping his sword, breathing heavily as if he had just fought something unseen. His usual cold demeanor cracked in those moments, and you saw it, the weariness, the torment he never spoke of.
One night, as he shuddered awake, you reached out instinctively, taking his hand in yours. He tensed, but didnât pull away.
"You're not alone, you can tell me if you want to.." you whispered.
He stared at you for a long time before his grip tightened, just slightly. But this wasnât enough. He needed more than fleeting comfort, he needed a way to break free from whatever haunted him.
You knew what you had to do.
The plan was simple: form a temporary team, retrieve the artifact you heard could cure nightmares, and return safely. Blade, much to your surprise, had obeyed when you asked him to stay behind. But you should have known better. He was never one to sit idly by when it concerned you.
You noticed his presence before you saw him, an oppressive aura that made the weaker adventurers in your party uneasy. He emerged from the shadows, his crimson eyes locking onto yours with a quiet intensity.
"You followed me" you said, exasperated but not surprised.
"You shouldn't be here alone" he replied simply.
The others shifted uncomfortably under his gaze, and you sighed. There was no point in arguing. Blade wasnât leaving.
As you delved deeper into the dungeon, he moved with effortless precision, cutting through enemies with an eerie calm. He had been watching, learning.
And so, you pressed forward, deeper into the dungeon. The artifact glowed faintly in your hands, its surface pulsing with an otherworldly light. The moment you secured it, a chilling realization hit you, Blade was missing.
"Where is he?" you demanded, scanning the dimly lit ruins of the dungeon. Your temporary teammates exchanged uneasy glances.
"He was right behind us a moment ago... but then he justâ"
You didn't wait for them to finish. You bolted in the direction you'd last seen him, your heart hammering against your ribs. The dungeonâs air felt heavier, oppressive, as if reacting to Bladeâs presence. Your gut twisted in unease.
You found him deeper inside, standing amidst the wreckage of slaughtered monsters. His sword dripped with dark ichor, but it wasnât just the carnage that made your breath hitch, it was his expression. His red eyes were unfocused, lost in a storm of something dark, something terrifying.
âBladeâ you called out softly, stepping closer. He didnât react.
You inched forward, feeling the weight of his aura pressing down on you. The air itself trembled with the intensity of his presence. His grip on his sword tightened, his body rigid like a coiled spring about to snap.
You knew you had only seconds before he lost himself completely.
With a swift motion, you reached into your pouch and pulled out the artifact. You pressed it against his chest.
A jolt of energy surged between you two. Bladeâs body stiffened as his eyes widened in shock. Then, as if the weight of a thousand battles suddenly collapsed onto him, he staggered, his breathing ragged. His knees gave out, and you barely caught him in time before he crumpled to the ground.
Your teammate rushed in, helping you lift his unconscious form. âDamn, heâs heavy..â they muttered, shifting Bladeâs weight onto their shoulder. âWe need to get out of here before more monsters show up.â
You nodded, but your gaze remained on his face, peaceful for the first time in what felt like ages.
You had stayed by his side, tending to him as he slept. The nightmares that once wracked his body seemed to have subsided, and when he finally opened his eyes, they were no longer clouded with torment.
He didnât say a word, but the moment you moved to leave his bedside, a firm grip caught your wrist. You looked down at him, surprised.
ââŚDonât goâ he murmured, voice rough with exhaustion.
You exhaled softly, sitting back down. He still wouldnât release your wrist, his hold lingering, not painful, but firm. As the days passed, you noticed subtle changes in him. He didnât speak much, but his actions spoke louder than words.
He followed you everywhere, lingering close like a silent shadow. If you reached for something, heâd hand it to you before you could. If someone dared to get too close, his crimson gaze alone was enough to make them back off. If you so much as sighed, he would silently set down a cup of warm tea in front of you.
It was almost⌠endearing. Like a loyal puppy, albeit one with the capacity to cut down anything that dared threaten you.
One evening, as you adjusted your blanket, you felt a weight settle at the edge of your bed. Turning, you found Blade sitting there, eyes downcast.
âYou stayedâ he finally said.
You smiled faintly. âOf course, I did.â
A pause. Then, so quietly you almost didnât hear it
ââŚThank you.â
And though he still rarely spoke, his actions never stopped saying everything he couldnât.
After escaping the dungeon and successfully ridding Blade of his nightmares, you decided it was time to unwind. It had been far too long since you let yourself relax, and after everything Blade had been through, he could use a break too.
You led him to a nearby game center, the neon lights reflecting off his sharp features. His cold, intimidating aura made a few children scurry away, but Blade remained unfazed. Despite his eerie presence, he had an uncanny talent for the games. One by one, he dominated each machineâprecision in shooting games and an almost unnatural skill in racing games.
You watched in both amusement and mild disbelief as he racked up a ridiculous number of coins. When it came time to exchange them for prizes, you settled on something you thought would be fitting- an oversized teddy bear.
âFor what purpose?â Blade asked, eyeing the stuffed creature as you handed it to him.
âSo you have something to hug while you sleepâ you replied with a teasing smile. âSince you donât exactly seem like the type to buy one yourself.â
He stared at the bear, silent. His fingers flexed slightly against the plush fabric before he turned his crimson gaze toward you. ââŚTch.â He looked away, but didnât let go of the bear.
That night, you expected things to return to normal, maybe even have a peaceful sleep without worry. But as you lay in bed, something felt off.
You shifted slightly, only to realize Blade had positioned himself closer than usual. His breathing was steady, but his grip on the teddy bear was loose, his arm, however, rested just inches from yours.
Even as he slept, his presence loomed over you, quiet but inescapable. The way his fingers twitched, as if reaching out. The way his body angled ever so slightly toward yours.
He wasnât just seeking comfort. He was claiming proximity.
And the moment you so much as moved away, his eyes snapped open, not with drowsiness, but with awareness. His gaze locked onto you, sharp yet unreadable.
ââŚGo to sleepâ he murmured, voice low.
You hesitated, but eventually settled back down. His eyes remained on you for a moment longer before closing again.
You had given him a teddy bear to hold. But in truth, the only thing he wanted to keep close, was you.

hii idk if youâre still writing the cowboy sevika fics but iâm actually obsessed with them you have no idea!! anyway i was thinking a fluffy little fic about sevika being depressed after shimmers death and reader, vi, and jinx do their best to cheer her up/support her!! do whatever you want iâll literally take anything i just love your characters so muchđđ
YEEHAWWWW i miss cowboy sevika
men and minors dni
it's been a month since you and your girls buried shimmer by your garden. not a night has passed where sevika hasn't cried herself to sleep in your arms. it's breaking your heart.
watching shimmer die was hard enough. you were never much of a horse person before meeting sevika's trusty mare, but shimmer converted you. before sevika settled down with you; one of your greatest comforts when she was out wandering the desert was that she had shimmer there with her. the horse was so in tune with sevika, and they'd been riding together for so long, that they practically moved as one. you worried less about sevika losing her mind when she had shimmer to listen to her rambling. you worried less about her losing her life when she had shimmer to run her back home to you if she ever got too beat up.
and as sweet as sevika is when she claims you're her best friend-- you know that title really belongs to shimmer.
"we should do somethin' for sev." vi mumbles one night. jinx is fast asleep between the pair of you, after insisting she wasn't tired for an hour straight.
"like what?" you ask.
vi shrugs. "cait and her dad go hunting sometimes."
you giggle. "you're crazy if you think we're giving jinx a gun."
vi laughs. "no, no, we wouldn't hunt. we could just, y'know, go camping or something. there are some cold springs thirty miles west of here."
"and how would we get there without a horse?"
"we could borrow one of grayson's." vi suggests.
you smile and turn to face her. "you've been planning this?" you ask. she smiles guiltily.
"sevika's just been so sad. i wanna cheer her up."
your heart bursts with love and you dart forward, squeezing jinx between your body and vi's as you attempt to hug her. vi giggles. jinx wakes up with an annoyed groan.
so, a week later, you, your wife, and your girls set out with a horse drawn wagon and one of grayson's newest additions: a young colt named 'teddy.' grayson was happy to lend you the horse, muttering something about him being a pain in the ass to train. "if there's anyone i know who can get through to a stubborn horse like teddy, it's sevika." she sighed.
the ride out to the springs is rocky and bumpy, sevika getting used to riding a horse that isn't shimmer-- teddy being an ass just for the hell of it. at least the girls find it fun. their giggles and squeals are the soundtrack for your entire ride to the springs. even with all the curses she's spewing at teddy, sevika looks more relaxed than she has in weeks back on top of a horse.
"what're we even gonna do once we get there?" jinx asks. you snort and ruffle her bangs.
"well, i'm going swimming. you losers can do whatever you want." you say. the girls giggle.
"do you think there are cliffs we can jump off of?" vi asks. you shrug.
"i'm sure we can find some. we've got a whole river to explore."
"none of you are doing any exploring until we set up camp and get a fire going." sevika huffs from on top of teddy's back.
"boo! boring." jinx whines.
'setting up camp' ends up being sevika building the tent and jinx feeding teddy while you and vi attempt to make a fire the old fashioned way.
"how did the cavemen ever do this?" vi huffs as she rubs two sticks together. you snort.
"i'm sure they had tools. blubber to make it catch better, or something."
vi rolls her eyes. "i don't understand why she won't just give us her lighter."
you laugh and look up at sevika as she wipes her sweaty brow. "she doesn't trust us not to burn down the whole riverbed."
"or she's just bossy." vi mutters. you cackle.
"i think you're right, kid."
you don't make it into the river on your first night, but you don't mind much. when the sun sets, the heat of summer fades and the cool dark forces you all to squish together on a log in front of the fire while sevika cooks up beans and weenies on the fire.
"is that a planet or a star?" vi asks. jinx looks up and hums.
"i think it's venus."
"yeah?"
"i think so. sev?" jinx asks.
sevika glances up at the sky, smiling proudly and ruffling jinx's bangs. "you nailed it, kiddo."
"what constellations are out tonight, sev?" jinx asks, tucking herself under your wife's arm. sevika hums, leaning back to study the sky.
you don't bother to look at the sky. pretty as the stars are, they're nothing compared to the sight of your three girls, cuddled together and illuminated in the firelight.
"follow my finger. you see those three stars close together?" sevika whispers, her voice melding with the crackle of the fire and the roar of the river.
"yeah." vi whispers. jinx nods against sevika's shoulder.
sevika drags her finger across the sky. "see how they lead into a cross? there?"
"is that the northern cross?" jinx asks. sevika nods, her smile growing.
"you know it. anyways, the cross is in the center of cygnus the swan. backbone of the milky way." sevika's eyes flick down and catch yours, and she smiles shyly. you grin. there are more stars in her eyes than in the whole night sky.
you spend the next day in the river with the girls, laughing and splashing and squealing when fish nibble your ankles. vi and sevika ride upriver to try to find cliffs to jump off of, and you teach jinx how to doggy paddle. when the girls return, they're soaking wet and cackling.
that evening, with the girls fast asleep in the tent, you and sevika smoke a joint and go skinny dipping.
"did you have fun with vi?" you ask, your arms and legs wrapped around your wife. sevika giggles against you.
"i shouldn't tell you." she says. you giggle.
"'s that supposed to mean?"
"means she almost jumped onto some rocks several fucking times. gave me a heart attack."
you groan, shaking your head. "no, you shouldn't've told me." you agree. sevika giggles.
"but, we both lived, didn't we?" she asks. you laugh.
"y'know we're gonna have to adopt teddy from grayson?" you ask. sevika snorts.
"what makes you say that?"
"jinx is obsessed with him. braided and un-braided his mane like six times today. calls him 'teddy bear.' plus..." you trail off.
sevika darts forward to kiss you. you hum against her lips. "plus?" she asks, her lips brushing yours.
"plus, you need a new horse. you look good in the saddle."
sevika hums and kisses you again. "you take such good care of me. how am i supposed to keep up my bandit appearance when i got a wife that talks me into adoptin' horses and takes me out on vacation?"
you laugh. "you haven't been a bandit in half a decade. and the vacation was violet's idea. she was worried about you."
sevika sighs and leans forward to rest her forehead against your shoulder. "you still take good care of me." she says. you kiss her scalp.
"well... y'know. you're my dingus the duck."
"your what?!" sevika asks with a cackle. you groan and shrug.
"i dunno, those stars you were talking about last night!" you whine.
"cygnus the swan!?" she asks. you nod.
"that's the one."
"what the fuck are you talking about?" she asks though her laughs. you snort.
"y'know. you're the backbone of my galaxy, or whatever."
sevika's teasing expression melts, stars sparkling in her eyes. "that's awfully corny, darling." she whispers, her voice shaky with emotion. you smile.
"what the-- what are you two doing?!" vi squawks from the riverbank. you and sevika giggle guiltily, caught by your kids canoodling in the cold springs.
"go back to the tent!" you shout.
"awe, gross, are you guys naked!?" jinx whines.
sevika snorts. "we all bathed together three hours ago!"
"yeah, but you guys weren't all up on each other-- vi, let's go before we overhear something nasty." jinx groans, tugging on her sister's arm.
violet laughs and stumbles behind jinx. "don't drown!" she calls.

The Queen of Romantasy and the Race Car Prince - Chapter 2
Pairing: Lando Norris x Elizabeth "Lizzie" Treshton (Original Character)
Summary:
Elizabeth Treshtonâbestselling romantasy author, queen of fae heartbreak, and sworn devotee of a carefully structured routineânever expected her service dog to abandon protocol and diagnose a Formula 1 driver with something. But thatâs exactly what happens when Mara the wonder-dog ditches Lizzieâs side to aggressively alert to none other than Lando Norris in the middle of a coffee shop.
Warnings and Notes:Â
Mention of epilepsy, seizures and service animals. I don't myself suffer from epilepsy, so I asked my IRL friend, who thankfully was nice enough to let me ask her all the questions I could come up with. The rest I asked Reddit. So everything that's wrong...that's totally my fault and not on purpose.
As always big thanks to @llirawolf , who listens to me ramble
By the time Lizzie heard the knock on her door, she was almost regretting inviting Lando over.
Not because she didnât want to see himâshe did. But because she was still exhausted, her limbs felt like lead, and she hadnât had the energy to change into anything more presentable than this.
Which was how she found herself standing in front of her door, dressed in sweatpants and a vintage Ferrari hoodie that was older than both of them, trying to summon the will to care.
She pulled the door open, and there he wasâLando Norris, grinning at her like she hadnât texted him less than 6 hours ago to say, Hey, I had a seizure, so can we not do the fancy restaurant thing?
âHey,â he said, then his eyes dropped to her hoodie. His expression morphed into pure betrayal. âYouâLizzie.â He pointed. âIs thatâis that a Ferrari hoodie?â
She crossed her arms, ignoring the amusement bubbling in her chest. âIt was my dadâs.â
âThat doesnât make it better,â Lando said, still staring at it like it personally offended him. âIt makes it worse. Itâs, like, vintage blasphemy.â
Lizzie rolled her eyes and stepped aside to let him in. âYouâre in my apartment. You donât get to insult my clothes.â
âI absolutely do.â
âYou really donât.â
"You literally live in Woking," Lando said darkly as he stepped into her apartment. "A stone throw away from the MTC!"
Lizzie rolled her eyes once more, closing the door behind him. "And I'm still a Ferrari girl at heart."
Lando groaned, shaking his head. "You're breaking my heart here, you know that?"
"Is now the time to mention that Mara is also named after Ferrari?" she asked with a grin, as he followed her into the kitchen and sat down a grocery bag on the counter.
Lando blinked. "How is Mara named after Ferrari?" he asked her.
"Well, Mara is short for Maranello," Lizzie said brightly.
Lando's mouth fell open. "You have got to be kidding me," he said, staring at her. "Your dog is named after Ferrari headquarters?"
Lizzie just smiled, not even trying to hold back her amusement. "Yep," she said, popping the p on the word.
"First the hoodie, then the dog... what's next, a Vettel tattoo?" Lando asked her with a sigh.
"I mean, I was considering it," Lizzie said, completely deadpan.
For a moment, Lando actually looked worried. "You're joking, right? Please tell me you're joking."
Lizzie cackled, a deep, full-belly laugh. "Relax, Lando. I'm kidding."
His shoulders sagged. "You're an evil woman. An actual evil woman."
"What is even in there?" she asked with a nod to the grocery bags.
Lando smirked. âBackup nuggets.â
Lizzie frowned. âBackup nuggets?â
âIn case yours suck.â
Lizzie snorted. âWow. True trust issues.â
Lando grinned, but there was something softer behind it. She felt it when he looked at her for just a second too long.
She shoved the nuggets into the oven before he could say anything annoying about it.
"I also brought ice cream. I didn't know what you like..."
"Vanilla," she said immediately.
"Vanilla it is," he agreed. "Where's Mara by the way?"
Lizzie's eyes darted down the hallway. "She's probably passed out in the living room, honestly," she said. "Dad said she barely left my side last night, poor thing. Probably wore herself out."
Lando winced. "I can imagine. Must've been pretty freaked out, huh?"
Lizzie nodded. "She kept licking my face. Apparently they do that to wake you up when you have a seizure."
For a moment, his gaze softened, and he looked at her thoughtfully. "You don't get hurt, right? When you have a seizure, I mean."
"Generally, no," Lizzie said, "I might accidentally bite my tongue, and I'm usually sore and tired after, but I don't get hurt."
Lando nodded, but she could see the concern still lingering on his face. "But you're okay now?" he asked quietly.
Lizzie managed to bite back her smile. "I'm fine, Lando. I promise. This really is normal for me."
His head dipped. "You're sure?"
She softened, touched by the worry in his voice. "I'm sure," she said gently. "No need to look so serious, pretty boy."
âExcuse me, Iâm not pretty.â He objected with a disgusted expression.
Lizzie snorted. âYeah, you arenât if you pull a face like that.â She shot back immediately.
âExcuse me, thatâs not very nice!â
âMate, make up your mind,â Lizzie said with a snort. âI say you are pretty, you disagree. I say you arenât, you also disagree. What are you then?â
âI am ruggedly handsome,â he told her seriously.
She could only stare at him.
âIf you somehow manage to grow a beard, then, maybe. But with that clean-shaven look you have going on right now? Not in a million years. Youâre pretty, and thatâs that.â
Lando's eyes widened, taken aback. "Did you justâ" he spluttered. "Did you just insult my ability to grow facial hair and then go and call me pretty in the same breath?"
"I absolutely did," Lizzie said, barely able to hold back her grin. "What are you gonna do about it, pretty boy?"
What she hadn't expected was for him to advance and corner her against her kitchen counter.
She froze, eyes wide, her heart suddenly thumping in her chest. Lando planted one hand on either side of the counter, caging her in.
He leaned in, his face inches from hers, expression still tinged with faux offense.
And his eyes...she could spent a whole book describing their colour and Lizzie was quite sure that it was going to fall short. Even in the dim light of her kitchen, they shifted from blue to green and back.
The intensity of his gaze was almost unbearable. Lizzie's mind went completely blank, and she found herself staring at him, a flutter of nervous energy coursing through her like electricity.
Lando was so close now that she could feel the warmth of his breath against her skin. She was suddenly hyper-aware of every nerve in her body, like this new, intimate proximity had set her senses on fire.
Lizzie wasn't even sure who moved first.
All she knew was that suddenly, his lips were on hers. The kiss started gently, almost tentatively. But something shifted in an instant.
It became hungrier, more desperate, like a dam had burst. Lizzie couldn't help herself; her arms wrapped around Lando's shoulders and pulled him closer, every part of her body pressed against his.
One of his hands threaded into her hair, angling her head to get better access, and she made a small, needy sound in the back of her throat. Her fingers curled into the soft cotton of his shirt, clutching at it as she kissed him back, dizzy with the feel of him.
Oh.Â
Oh.Â
Lando groaned, the sound reverberating through her. His free hand slid beneath her hoodie, seeking out the bare skin of her waist.
Her own hands moved over his back, desperate and urgent. The kiss turned hotter, less controlled as her world narrowed to this, to him, to the intoxicating feeling of his body against hers.
And then the sound of the oven timer beeped. Loudly. She jerked in his grasp, managing to make one of her cookbooks clatter down onto the floor.
A second later, Mara was barelling into the room, clearly thinking that she had had a seizure and destroyed her house.
Lizzie and Lando sprung apart, both of them flushed and more than a little breathless.
Lizzie couldnât help it; she burst into a fit of giggles, watching Mara skid across the linoleum.
"I'm fine, Mara," she said through her laughter. Her dog whined, clearly not convinced.
Lando was looking like a deer in headlights, his cheeks flushed and his hair messed up from her fingers. He stared at her as if he'd never seen her before, and she bit her lip to keep herself from grinning like an idiot.
"We should rescue the dino nuggets," Lizzie suggested.
Lando still looked stunned. "Right - yeah - nuggets-" he said, blinking.
Lizzie chuckled and knelt down to pat Mara to reassure her. The dog was practically whining with worry, licking her face and nudging her. Lizzie gently pushed her back in an attempt to give herself some space.
"I think you traumatized my dog," she said, looking up at him with a smirk.
He scratched the back of his head, still endearingly awkward. "Sorry," he said sheepishly. "I wasn't exactly...thinking when..."
She just shook her head, grinning. "Maybe we should focus on rescuing those dino nuggets, don't you think, pretty boy?"
He swallowed, glancing at her briefly before nodding. "Yeah. Nuggets."
Lizzie pushed herself off the floor, giving Mara's head a final pat before she headed over to the oven. Lando joined her in the kitchen, his gaze flickering to her every other second. Lizzie took the plate from the oven, setting it down on the stove top.
"They look fine," she said, inspecting the slightly-singed edges of the nuggets. "All things considered."
Lando leaned against the counter beside her. "Great," he said, but his voice was still a little unsteady.
She shot him a sideways glance, amused by the way his gaze kept dropping to her mouth.
"Was that..." he trailed off and she watched to see a slight blush cover his cheeks.
"What?" she asked, hiding a smile. He was even more adorable when he was embarrassed.
He cleared his throat, looking vaguely flustered. "That was okay, right?"
And just like that, her own cheeks grew warm. They'd just made out in her kitchen, and now he was asking her if... if it was okay?
She studied him, taking in the pink hue on his face. There was something so vulnerable about the way he was looking at her. It was like he couldn't believe it had happened, and now he was scared he had overstepped.
"It was..." she began, only stopping to consider her words."...pretty incredible."
Relief flickered across Lando's face. "Yeah?" he said, a hint of the cocky demeanor returning. "You liked it, then?"
In response, Lizzie just rolled her eyes, pushing the plate of dino nuggets towards him to end the conversation before he could say anything else.
"Try a damn nugget."
Lando raised an eyebrow, but his smile grew even wider as he picked up a nugget from the plate. "Bossy."
She just rolled her eyes again, biting back a laugh. "Eat your nugget before I regret telling you that I liked it."
He chuckled and popped the nugget into his mouth. "Not bad," he said, still grinning.
Lizzie found herself returning the smile. He was impossible.
But then again, she thought as she looked at him, she supposed she wouldn't want him any other way.
"Let's take this to the living room," she suggested.
"So is there even more Ferrari merch there?" Lando asked her. She just rolled her eyes.
"Not Ferrari merch, no," she said drily. âI keep that in the bedroom.â Lando gave a squawk in response. She just laughed.Â
Did her living room kinda look like the set of a fantasy movie had thrown up all over it? Yes.Â
She had a near life size portrait of Astrid and Ciaran, the main characters of her book series hung over her fireplace, which an amazingly talented fan artist had painted and she had purchased.
Lando was staring at the portrait with something close to amusement. He turned to her, eyebrow raised. "Okay, so who is that guy, and why does he have bat wings?"
Lizzie sighed, taking a seat on the large couch that dominated the room. "That would be Ciaran. Bat wings and all."
Lando took a seat beside her, still eyeing the portrait suspiciously. "And who exactly is Ciaran supposed to be?"
"He is the Dark Prince...The Heir to the throne of the land of Kasharia," she said with a wave of her hand. "He's the love interest in the Seasons of Fate Series."
Lando's eyebrows shot up, turning back to the portrait, studying it with more interest this time. "And the Wings are his thing, I'm guessing? Makes him the 'Dark Prince'?"
Lizzie bit her lip to keep a laugh from escaping. "Basically."
"Right, right." He was nodding now. "What about the woman, then? Blondie with the dagger?"
Lizzie found herself smiling, remembering the story behind that particular piece of art. "That would be Astrid," she said.
Lando looked like he was starting to put pieces together. He leaned back on the couch, eyes on the portrait once more. "And Astrid is, what? The princess or something?"
"She's a handmaiden of the Princess of another kingdom he's supposed to marry," she explained with a wave of her hand. "She ends up married to Ciaran instead."
Lando was nodding along as Lizzie described it, a look of fascination on his face. "Oh, so it's like one of those forbidden romance deals, huh?" he asked, sounding surprisingly invested.
"In a sense, yeah," she agreed, finding herself amused by his interest. "You seem surprisingly interested in this, considering you thought the wings were over the top a minute ago."
Lando shot her a look, his eyes twinkling. "Hey, I can appreciate a good love story, can't I? Besides, million of people adore your books. There must be something pretty special about them."
Lizzie felt a surge of warmth in her chest at his words. It still surprised her, at times, how much her books meant to people.
Lizzie felt a surge of warmth in her chest at his words. It still surprised her, at times, how much her books meant to people.
"I don't know about that, but people seem to enjoy them," she said lightly. "Still thinking you are going to pick one up?" she teased him with a grin.
"Itâs probably gonna take me two months to get through the first book, between my schedule and my dyslexia, but the bat wings have totally sold it," Lando told her seriously.
She couldn't help but laugh at that, the sound bubbling up uncontrollably. The idea of Lando, who was about as far from a fantasy fan as you could get, actually trying to read one of her books was too absurd. "You are absolutely not going to read one of my books," she said, grinning.
"Hey, I could!" he objected with mock offense. "Don't underestimate me."
Lizzie shook her head, still laughing. "I'm not underestimating you. But let's be honest, you've got better things to do with your time than read about bat winged princes and handmaiden."
"Don't you have better things to do than too watch 20 men in their cars drive around in wobbly circles?" he shot right back. "You created these books. You poured your time and energy into them. I don't think there are many things that are more important than that."Â
Lizzie fell silent, taken off guard by his words. He had a point, she thought.
"I suppose you have a point there," she admitted quietly.
Lando seemed pleased with himself, his cocky demeanor falling back into place. "See? I do have some smarts in there."
She rolled her eyes but couldn't keep the smile off her face. "You are insufferable, you know that? Besides, what's with your job," she teased him. "Isn't Miami coming up?"
Lando just snorted. "Yeah, we are all looking forward to hear the Dutch national anthem. Again."
Lizzie chuckled, picturing the familiar sight of the podium at a Grand Prix - the winning driver and the Dutch and Austrian anthems playing. "You are so dramatic. Maybe you'll win in Miami."
He gave her a look, his expression clearly communicating that he thought her words were ridiculous. "Uh-huh. You obviously don't know my luck. Second place is basically my second name."
Lizzie laughed, finding his complaining endearing despite herself. "You sound like Mara when I have a treat, but don't give it to her. Stop whining. Second place is still impressive as all hell, you know that right?"
Mara perked up at the mention of her name and took that moment to jump up on the couch, and once again, not caring at all about personal space, just drape herself all over Lando.
Lando looked startled, his gaze flying down to where Mara was settling onto his lap. "Uh..." he said, his voice full of confusion.
Lizzie tried not to crack a smile at the way he looked like he'd never encountered a dog before. Mara, meanwhile, looked incredibly pleased with herself.
Lando looked up at Lizzie, his expression a comical mix of disbelief and alarm. "What...what is she doing?" he asked, clearly bewildered.
Lizzie couldn't help herself; she burst out laughing. "She likes you," she managed to say through her mirth. "Clearly a woman of excellent taste."
Lando gave her a dubious look, clearly not sure if he was being insulted or not. Then Mara shifted in his lap and let out a happy sigh, and he looked back down at her. Lizzie could see the exact moment he melted. No man was immune to dogs.
"I'll go against my core beliefs and root for the ugly orange car with your number on it if you promise me that you'll believe that you have a chance of winning."
Lando shot her a look, a little surprised at her request. Then his familiar cocky smirk spread across his face.
"You'll root for papaya? Over Ferrari?"
Lizzie just nodded. "As long as that big ego of yours lets you believe you can win," she said dryly.

Full disclosure: I know fucking nothing about animal crossing. I've literally never touched it in my life. The extent of my knowledge is that there's that one cat character(?) who people are absolutely insane about and will charge real in person money to see. With that in mind:
obkk animal crossing shaped au where Obito moves to an island filled w human-animal people, run by its resident mayor, a funky wolf man named Kakashi
Obito living his best, small town life, surrounded by strange fluffy people ,,,
Actually having fun thinking ab just Obito being the only full human there, that's a fun mental image to me. He's actually totally weirded out by it but if he brings it up it goes something like,
"So uhh. Why do you have a tail?"
"Oh my god Obito you can't just ask someone why they have a tail"
Obito can no longer bring it up for fear of being animal people racist. Which is not a thing he knew existed, but.
The twist is that he could totally ask people and they'd probably answer juts fine but he made the mistake of asking Kakashi when Kurenai and Genma were around and all three of them were way too ready to fuck with him
Tanuki Genma,,,give it to me,,I wish to see him,,
Kakashi is a wolf man but actually that is a LIE and hes just a very big and fluffy dog guy who somehow got the reputation that he was actually a wolf and just kinda never disputed it, pass it on. He thinks its funny and will regularly make big bad wolf jokes n stuff but meanwhile hes like. A husky or smthn.
Obito realizes he's just a normal ass dog and gets weirdly butt hurt / disappointed about it. Turns out he is actually one of those half wolf dogs but now Obito is being stubborn and says he has "trust issues" and doesn't believe him anymore
Rin as Kakashi's mayoral assistant maybe? Then again, her working at the hospital is always fun tho.
Either or, I am trying to think of a good animal for her. Leaning towards smthn like a mongoose or a honey badger, small and cute looking but absolutely fucking insane and not to be approached under any circumstances because they can rip your fucking throat out
Gai is a bear, no further comments.
I really have no specific thoughts ab this other than it would be funny to me and I want to see normal human man Obito trying his best to live in a weird ass animal-people town.
I want mayor Kakashi to harass him daily and I want them to have a love hate relationship that largely involves them fucking with each other. I think it'd be neat.

the homeowner effect
Niko Ikki never knew owning a house could be such an icebreakerâuntil his blind dateâs flustered, accidental comment leaves him wondering if this might be his best date yet. pairing niko ikki x reader tags post manga timeskip, aged up characters, fluff, happy birthday niko! navigation
Your friend, Otoya, sets you up with someone he knows. According to him, his friend is a ânice guyââa term that usually makes you suspicious. Otoya isnât exactly known for being a stellar matchmaker, after all. But so far, the guy in question, Niko Ikki, is polite, attentive, and surprisingly easy to talk to.
He likes anime and manga. He has pretty good taste in music, too. He seems too good to be true, and you canât help but test the waters a little to get him a little bit better.
âSo, where do you live?â you ask, stabbing the carrot cake youâve ordered to share.
He casually name-drops a notoriously expensive and quiet neighborhood. âItâs nice and peaceful there,â he says.
You nearly choke on your drink. âWait, seriously? You live there?â
He nods as if itâs the most normal thing in the world. âYeah.â
Curiosity gets the better of you. âSo⌠do you share the rent with someone? Like a roommate orâŚ?â
He blinks, looking slightly confused, as if the thought hasnât even occurred to him. âNo. I, uh⌠I own the place.â
Your fork clatters onto your plate, drawing a few curious glances from nearby tables. You donât care. âYou own it?â
âYeah,â he admits softly, the tips of his ears turning red. âI bought it last year.â
âYou bought it last year?â you repeat, dumbfounded.
He tilts his head slightly, as though he canât quite understand why you look so shocked. âYes.â
âWait, youâre 27, right?â
âYeah, 27,â he confirms, taking a sip of his drink.
You stare at him in disbelief, the pieces of information refusing to settle in your brain. âOkay, so⌠you own your place in one of the priciest neighborhoods in the city. How? I meanâare you, like, a trust fund baby or something? What do you do?â
He chuckles softly, shaking his head. âNo, no trust fund. I just⌠work hard and save. I play sports.â
âLike professionally?â you ask, your voice laced with amazement.
âKind of,â he says with a small shrug. âItâs for a local team.â Well, technically, the Japan National Team is a local team, Niko thinks.
Your gaze drifts over him, noticing for the first time how well-built he is. He catches you looking, and you quickly cough, averting your eyes. But your thoughts linger on the bigger revelation: he owns his place.
And youâre impressed. Stunned, really. Here you are at 25, living in a shared house with your best friend and still making payments on a car loan your parents had practically forced you to buy. And meanwhile, Nikoâcalm, humble, and ridiculously cute Nikoâis out here playing sports for a living and owning a house in this economy.
âYou own your own house,â you repeat, almost in disbelief.
âYes,â he says again, his voice steady but his ears now bright red under your scrutiny.
Before you can stop yourself, you mutter, âWow, thatâs hot.â
Niko freezes mid-sip, his eyes snapping to yours. His cheeks turn a deep pink, and his lips part as if heâs not sure heâs heard you right. âH-Hot?â
You groan, slapping a hand over your face. âOh my god, I said that out loud, didnât I?â
He looks down at his glass, his fingers brushing the edge nervously. But then, a soft smile tugs at his lips, and he lets out a quiet laugh. âI mean⌠thanks?â
Peeking at him through your fingers, you find his shy but amused expression making your heart flutter. Itâs not fair. Not only is he financially stable and smart, but he also has this quiet, unassuming charm that makes you want to know more.
âSo, uh,â you say awkwardly, trying to recover, âwhat else are you hiding? Do you, like, run your own company on the side or something?â
He chuckles, shaking his head. âNo, nothing like that. Iâm just a regular guy who likes anime, gaming, and reading manga. And plays sports for a living.â He pauses, his gaze meeting yours, and his tone softens. âAnd I think this is the first time anyoneâs ever called me âhotâ because of where I live.â
âWell,â you say with a shrug, trying to act cool despite the warmth creeping up your neck, âthereâs a first time for everything.â
He laughs again, the sound warm and genuine, and you feel yourself relax. This date isnât just going well. Itâs easily the best one he's had in a long time.
amari's notes: happy birthday to one of my faves and fellow aquarius baby, niko! i am going all out celebrating his birthday. made a fanfic, made a cake and commissioned an art! there are some niko merch i managed to get and hopefully i get more!

gideon the ninth characters and their 2025 jobs
harrow: the hardest one on this list tbh. nunâs too simple, religious studies scholar isnât insane enough. chef is too funny, as is orthopedic surgeon. weâll go with historic preservationist, specializing in religious architecture and artifacts.
gideon: barista employee of the month, every month, at an inclusive crossfit gym. moonlights at a bar down the street some nights and is known for making sure everyone gets home safe, no matter how many asses she has to kick to the curb (literally)
palamedes: PhD and research consultant with multiple published works (research under his real name, fiction under a pseudonym). whatâs the phd in? yes.
camilla: that one friend who can do anything and has done everything. certified meditation instructor? check. semi-professional martial artist? check. volunteer park ranger? check. often credited in palamedesâ works, but you didnât even know she had a degree. throws mugs and vases in her spare time but vows to never open an etsy store
ianthe: evil woman in STEM (you pick her crime) or chain-smoking actress with a scandalous reputation and horrible interviewing manner but unmistakable talent
naberius: instagram model who is literally always filming sponsored content for a new boutique european hotel or âexperienceâ
corona: so torn on this. either a fellow instagram model that 50% of her audience thinks is fake and 50% thinks is âactually really sweet!â or like a famous marine biologist working to save the turtles or something
jeannemary: young record-breaking olympian/pro athlete. itâs not fencing or martial arts â itâs skateboarding
isaac: internet star with a rising pop punk music career, a la noahfinnce. jeannemary did a viral drop-in to one of his songs
abigail: every gay studentâs favorite history (or maybe archaeology?) professor at a world-renowned college
magnus: owner and operator of a charming pub in the quaint town where said world-renowned college is. itâs overpriced but the atmosphere and food are genuinely great
âdulcineaâ: chronic illness content creator (later revealed to be grifter)
dulcinea: content creator, artist (painter), and sometimes streamer. candid and humorous about her illness, but refuses to be inspiration porn
âprotesilausâ: male podcaster, incel edition
protesilaus: beloved personal trainer who privately trains for american ninja warrior on the side
silas: idk, the cuntiest bitch at the monastery? do we still have monks? can someone be a combo of trust fund baby and monk?
colum: successful practitioner of an age-old craft like blacksmithing. always taking commissions but prefers to help at historic reenactments or even ren faires. exclusively makes historically accurate pieces
judith: cop
marta: cop wait she helped harrow in the bubble so i have to be nice hard-but-fair-and-well-respected fencing instructor at a private school. she might as well be a monk for how little everyone knows about her personal life, but suspicion is rife and all the baby lesbians hope sheâs got a wife (bars)
bonus: teacher: cult leader is too easy so weâll go with âlocal guy who runs a shop selling crystals he bought from china at a 500% markup. he pretends theyâre sustainably/ethically/lovingly sourced and guaranteed to cure your depression/anxiety/adhd but you both know heâs full of itâ

Since you were asking for questions to distract you:
What is one thing you have been DYING to share about Echo, Lawrence, Ren and/or Strade? Literally just use this ask to go on a rant about whatever/whoever you want đ
*fiona apple voice* what the hell, sure.
long post so under the cut. general headcanon dump for ren/fox, law and strade be upon ye. echo is included.
ren + fox đŚ
can't speak japanese (think this is canon) and feels weird and traumatised about it. makes an effort to learn after strade's death, and by fox age, he's fluent.
(also) after strade's death, he attends community college (by fudging a high school degree and upping the sob story of an abusive boyfriend) and gets a degree in coding :)
really struggles to eat vegetables and dairy. would only eat meat and carbs if he was left to his own devices
both of these make his not entirely subtle ED habits flare up, though, so he's kind of a bad eater. don't take him out for dinner, he'll overthink it for days
has a pintrest where he collects outfit inspiration ^_^
sort of self-conscious about his height but knows it's an asset in his younger years. starts wearing heeled boots as he gets older.
lawrence đĽ
can't watch movies or tv shows without disassociating. it makes existing as a human being sort of exhausting
had a crush on their guidance counsellor at school and fantasised about her raping them. felt immediately bad about it and had an OCD doom spiral that made them stop going to see her
generally sex and romance repulsed, to the degree that they questioned if they even had the capacity to feel those emotions at all
turns out, just super depressed
when they do feel romantic or sexual, it can be very overwhelming and intense. which is why they prefer to just. not feel it lol
struggles gaining weight but develops a bit of a gut as they get older. they're a little self-conscious about it.
has a few hang-ups about masculinity, queerness, gender nonconformity. their dad put some fucked up ideas into their head as a kid (which also explains their OCD)
has two broken molars and crooked teeth from not looking after them when they were younger
strade đ¨
coffee drinker. likes it strong but with two sugars. won't drink tea, thinks it's a bad use of caffeine
not a picky eater but won't eat vegetarian "fake" meat. he has like a visceral reaction to it. real dad core energy in that respect.
on the subject of dad core, totally does that thing where he'll walk into a room and just stand there watching tv for twenty minutes. has done that when ren watches anime. no sitting, just...standing.
yellow teeth <3 from smoking when he was younger (with the occasional cigar in his older age) and coffee drinking.
never broken a bone, but has a fuck ton of scars and scrapes. his back especially (from fucking ren <3)
has a few masochistic inclinations. likes a punch to the face, likes to get scratched up and beat up. it gets his blood pumping
very comfortable being a verse, but wouldn't sub for love nor money. ultimate power bottom when he's doing it
acab. really doesn't like police. like he knows how to chat to them and put on the charm and all that, but he doesn't trust them. acab.
echo đŞ (that's her emoji) (also just facts I feel like sharing)
echo was named and based after echo and query, the riddler's lesbian sidekicks in the batman comics. i developed the two of them into a genderfluid domsub lesbian couple for a batman 2022 fanfic, and got so attached to echo that she became her own character <3
echo's design was partially inspired by trianon serious weakness, but more so that I miss having black and green hair lol. she also has all of my piercings :)
characters who also inspired echo are vikki from what happens next and beth from manhunt by gretchen felker-martin
echo works at fictional cafe that's a stand-in for st*rbucks because of their gender affirming care benefits.
when she and law first met at therapy, she thought they were a clocky trans girl. had absolutely no idea they were basically cis until they told her
her favourite video games are metal gear solid (of course), silent hill and yume nikki
she'd never ever tell anyone she likes anime (because it's cringe apparently), but her favourites are neon genesis evangelion and berserk. has a secret fondness for madoka magica too
echo has one (1) other friend who's a detransitioned butch nb called matt (they/she). echo bullied matt in high school, and they eventually dated but broke it off amicably. they play call of duty together on thursdays.
echo has fucked every woman in law and her's group therapy, and she hates it.

New Wild Kratts Special
Season 7 of Wild Kratts continues on into 2025. According to the Kratt Brothers, 6 new episodes are currently in development, including an hour-long TV movie. Although Martin Kratt said that the 200th episode would air this season, several other sources report that the season will end with 20 episodes. Which indicates that we're halfway finished with Season 7. And given how the modern seasons take 2 years to finish, the final 9 episodes of the season will most likely be released this year.
The second half of Season 7 will premiere in April of 2025. The one-hour special is the only episode on TV listings that has a title and synopsis, so we will focus on it here.
Wild Kratts: Activate Kid Power - Parts 1 & 2 - Airing Monday, April 7th, 2025
When the Wild Kratts receive an overload of calls for creature rescues, their creature power capacity fails. The team is left helpless, but soon learn that by the working with Wild Kratts Kids that Kid Power is perhaps the most amazing and effective creature power of all!
Pre-Episode Thoughts + Predictions:
Back in August, the Kratt Brothers had a Creature Heroes Foundation event in which people could send videos or pictures of them helping out animals which could potentially be used in a new special (my lazy ass didn't find the time to do this FUCK). This is definitely that special they were building up to. It's very meta, but also incredibly sweet.
Ok but I have literally been in love with this episode's concept. I always thought the idea of the Wild Kratts working with the Wild Kratts Kids would have the perfect formula for a series finale where they retire and pass on the torch to those who have learned from them over the years, and it would've been a great plot for the movie. Even though this episode isn't the series finale, it's still great that the series proper is utilizing it. Once again, Season 7 is trying a lot of interesting ideas, especially character-driven ones that feel the most appropriate.
Chris and Martin teased at grizzly bears and sea turtles appearing in the special. Initially I wasn't excited because we've seen those animals before, but knowing the main synopsis of the episode I'm now excited. It could be in similar vein to No Name Dream where we see familiar animals, but they are largely the backdrop to character-plots. Again, really nice.
Whilst I'm glad that we're getting an episode on the Wild Kratts Kids, I can't help but still feel sad. Because again, most of the WK Kids from the earlier seasons (Gavin, Ronan, Aiden, Nolan, Ellie, ect.) wouldn't be able to return with speaking noises because their actors are all grown up. So will the show age them up so that we can see them as secondary characters again? Or will they recast them with younger actors? Or will they once again be be relagated to cameos? I'm hoping that it's the first option, because it would be a really bold move for the show to do, especially in a season that they are hyping up so much.
I'm 99% positive that Paisley Paver will appear in this special. Again, I don't mind the fact that she's not a series regular after her redemption (in fact, I'm glad because it would be really distracting). But still, Our Blue and Green World was the biggest episode of the season and solely because of her redemption. And the writers have admitted to committing to this change for the rest of the series. To not follow up on it, with so much of her character to explore, and especially when we're nearing the end of the season is a crime. For this episode's plot specifically, I hope we get scenes of her helping the Wild Kratts Kids/receiving their help, and attempting to earn their trust after previously threatening their animal friends. Seeing as we've never seen the Kids interacting with/reporting Paisley ever since her introduction, it would be so interesting.
As an add-on to that last point, since pretty much all of the one-hour specials nowadays have villains in them, that means that Zach, Donita, and Gourmand will appear here right? Initially I wanted the specials this season to not have villains, but with how the direction of the show has gone in regards to Paisley's character, I'm actually hoping that they do appear and face off against Paisley. Maybe the Wild Kratts Kids come to her rescue, or better yet, the villains go after the kids, but Paisley is able to hold them off long enough for them to get somewhere safe. And maybe we could finally get our long-awaited Rex-demption arc. I don't think this could happen because it would be too much to cram into a 47 minute episode, but it seems like the perfect place to wrap up that storyline.
Will the Wild Kratts Kids get their own Creature Power Suits? I feel as though "Kid Power" will be more metaphorical than literal, but I really hope that is the case. Even though I like the idea of the WK Kids having their own Creature Power Suits, it would cheapen the lesson given that anyone in their own backyard can make a difference for the Creature World. Plus, I feel like any supporting character like say, Gavin or Paisley activating a Creature Power before Jimmy just feels wrong (once again, hoping that he activates a CPS before the end of the season).
Finally... I really hope there's not a musical number in this special. With the exception of the Blue/Green special, every single one of the musical numbers in the one-hour holiday specials have been complete ass because the actors do not have a good singing range, nor are they directed to do so, and the only one of them who is a known singer (Zachary Bennett) is somehow never called in for a professional villains' song.
Those are all of my thoughts for now. Expect the promos to arrive either at the end of this month or the start of next month.

Lily marrying James isnât a betrayal. It was, however, completely incomprehensible to me as a child reading for the first time and honestly still is after gaining life experience. Why would anyone get with somebody they witness violently abusing others for kicks, even if a mere year or two later they claim to have cleaned up their act - that was still a core part of their character?! He mightâve been charming and confident and good to people he likes, but he also sexually assaults somebody with considerably less privilege in public, which shouldâve been enough of a crime to put any girl off for good even if the victim was now somebody she had cause to hate. Iâd have been totally behind it if it had been a purely strategic decision to take a pureblood name in wartime! Thatâs pragmatism, it makes sense! But itâs written as true love, and tbh itâs never sat well with me what that says about Lilyâs character, and what it says about JKRâs attitude towards the awful idea that the love of a good woman can fix abusive men.
Thanks for leaving me a reasonable response, I was a little afraid I would get people with utterly wild takes screaming at me in my inbox for that post!
Yeah, I don't think Lily marrying James is a betrayal, I'm glad we agree on that.
A lot of how we interpret J*ly depends on how we interpret James and Lily based on the very, *very* limited and biased information we receive about them. The reader can never know the full truth about them and truly know them as people, because they died pre-story and Harry will forever be learning out of context things about his dead parents without ever truly knowing them. Which, to veer a little off the main subject of the ask, is honestly a choice that really works for me as someone who lost a parent young. Receiving biased information and trying to judge based off of that while having to accept you can never form your own opinion is just how it is, for Harry and for anyone else in his position.
The thing is, the reader is placed in Harry's position. James and Lily are characters we can make extrapolations about, yes, but we don't have enough information to fully understand them. You cannot really do the same kind of deep dives on them you can do with a character like Snape, Lupin, or Sirius, because there isn't very much material there. So any argument about James and Lily will by its very nature involve a hell of a lot of speculation.
What we get about James doesn't look very good. I don't want to minimize James's terrible actions in that scene. His interaction with Lily there is a really bad way to treat her and it doesn't speak well of the future of their relationship. (And he is also terrible to Snape, obviously, but the rest of this ask isn't about Snape so I won't go more into that). To be quite honest I think some of it is JKR trying to write a rom-com bickering enemies to lovers dynamic between them but for many readers it falls flat as the implications of him trying to get her to go out with him in exchange for releasing Snape are pretty terrible. And most positive information about James we receive is through biased sources like his best friends, though I don't think we should totally discard the fact that he was a good friend to Sirius and Remus and devoted his life to fighting against the Death Eaters--potentially good qualities Lily might have liked about him. Also, in SWM, he makes a point of NOT calling Lily a Mudblood and condemning the slur, which...you are really not the moral authority here, James, but at least you are trying not to be blood supremacist--and that would be a stark contrast to someone Lily trusted suddenly calling her it. We just..don't know all that much about him, so we can either take only his bad traits or try to extrapolate some good ones (or draw out the good traits he does have canonically), depending on what you personally want to do with him.
You say that 'any girl' would be put off by James, but, well, there are a lot of reasons people are attracted to each other. People have been attracted to more terrible people all the time. Whether or not James and Lily's relationship was abusive, people stay with their abusers for all sorts of complex reasons and it feels somewhat dismissive to say 'oh, I wouldn't do that'...you're not in that position. Just because you personally wouldn't do something doesn't make it an impossible decision for someone.
And there is evidence that James matured as a person, though you can feel free to be unconvinced by it. We don't know what Lily saw in James. We can feel free to imagine it how we want to, as a fandom. I just don't think we should really be critiquing her for something largely speculative, and we especially shouldn't be using her dating James as a reason to bash her for ending her friendship with Snape. Lily is allowed to date James without it being about Snape, because she is an autonomous person with her own wants, needs, and desires. Of course, these are my interpretations influenced by my subjective reading of the text.
The final point you make is, I think, a really good one. I have a lot of problems with how J*ly is written in the books! And I do think it is absolutely influenced by the trope of a Good Woman redeeming a Bad Man. That doesn't mean said trope is the only way J*ly can be written in fic and understood in the fandom. But yeah, Lily is written in some very troubling ways...fandom discourse about her just often becomes even more troubling. My ultimate problem with the 'Lily is a bad friend' line of argument is honestly a critique of the exact same trope: the idea that Lily's purpose as a character is entirely to redeem Snape, that she was responsible for fixing him and saving him. Saying that Lily was a bad friend to Snape for not forgiving him for calling her a racial slur and specifically demeaning the help she offered him--and for not preventing him from joining the Death Eaters, even though it was his choice to do so, is misogynistic! The text is obviously not free of misogyny but fandom isn't either, which is why the Bad Friend Lily take gets me so mad because it plays into a misogynistic trope!(Thinking about it, I do wonder if the framing of Lily 'saving' James in the text is why people want her to 'save' Snape...)
Anyway, I hope this doesn't come off as condescending or rude, it's an interesting subject to discuss and it's not my intention to attack you at all. Thanks for the ask!

I've had a lot of thoughts of my own on this topic and I've posted about it just a few minutes ago, but yeah, I'll add onto this because I have thoughts specifically about this analysis too.
So, I do have one small disagreement, which is that I don't think Ezran was burying the hurt when he found the shadowhawk arrow. He says he'd bandaged it and let it heal, and I really think they meant it that way, because that's a narrative statement, not in his thoughts or dialogue. Grief never goes away, obviously, and the pain of losing Harrow will never be gone, but the wound can heal, and I think that's all they meant there. It's not raw and open anymore; finding the arrow just scraped at it. I will come back to this in a minute though.
As far as Rayla's perspective goes, I do agree with what you said, but I also think an important part that keeps getting left out of this conversation is that she is not human. I keep seeing people applying human values and human perspectives to her character, and it happens within the show too (Callum calling her prideful for wanting to stay at the Storm Spire in Season 3 is a prime example of this), because she's so sympathetic to the humans that they forget that she isn't one of them. She is coming at this situation from a very different cultural background.
Her culture, for one, does not see death as an end. Harrow has just moved on to the next phase of his spirit's cycle. Death is a more merciful end than what she was granted for helping Ezran, so while she knows Ezran is human and doesn't outright accuse him of betraying their friendship, it does sort of make sense that her instinct would be to feel betrayed. In her culture, standing by her family and her people are more important than life itself. She's already betrayed those values once to save Ezran and Zym, in a way that resulted in her banishment and, according to Chasing Shadows, her death, culturally speaking. Ghosts aren't just banished, literally her identity as a Moonshadow elf is considered to be worse than dead by her own people, even her name is banned, and she's been grappling with that for years. Now, she has the chance to stand by her father, to finally do something that aligns with both her wider world values and her cultural ones, and Ezran has become an obstacle. She's also well-established as being less than careful with her words when she's distressed.
Callum's role in this also rings very true to me. I see the point about how he maybe shouldn't have led with calling his brother a jerkface - but as an older sibling, yeah, that tends to be how you get the little shit's attention if they're being particularly assholish. Heavens know my brothers and I have said far worse. Whether it's the best approach is highly debatable, but as a writing choice, it felt really good to me because it made the brotherly relationship feel very real in that moment, especially since that's a word we've already seen them use.
Overall, I agree with pretty much all of the OP's points about Callum's arc here, but I'd like to point out that he's falling prey to the same thinking as what's left the fandom startled by Ezran this season. He describes Ez as "not himself" and is convinced the anger will cool with time, and I just don't know if it would have. I'll get back to what I think Ezran actually needed in a moment, too. Callum has tried to talk Ezran down and make peace between them at every turn, even promising Rayla he wouldn't drive a wedge between them to help her, and I do think that people who call him a doormat for Rayla are missing that bit. He didn't just betray Ezran, he betrayed Rayla's trust as well, even if it was to help her in the immediate moment.
Callum also explicitly makes sure to tell Ezran, even while he's defending the elves' retreat, that he will always be there for him as a brother. All Ezran has to do is ask. He is leaving because he cannot stand by Ezran's actions as a king, which I think is a really important distinction to make, and I think it's a driving force of what helps Ezran forgive him later. It's one of the bits of evidence that will eventually build into Ezran realizing he's working towards a mutually assured destruction plan rather than one of peace, and I just don't think Callum could have gotten that message across with a less drastic reaction. He's also not abandoning Ezran on his own; Ez is a fully realized king with Soren, Corvus, the Council, Zym (who he also identifies as a brother) and more to support him emotionally.
Speaking of, I do actually want to point that out about this whole situation as well, is Soren's role. He mentions that he wishes he hadn't seen the elves escaping, but his loyalty outweighs his sympathy. I think it's also very important to why Callum was willing to leave; because he and Soren have come a long way, and Callum knows he's leaving his younger brother in very capable hands. Soren is also an older brother, and one who takes a very personal joy in being one and helping Ezran have moments of just being a kid. Callum knows that.
Finally, to circle back around to Ezran, I don't think that he buried his feelings about Harrow's death. That said, I do think that his background including his father's death and taking the throne far too young heavily affects his reaction to having his home destroyed. What happened in Katolis was terrorism, a mass murder and destruction that would shake anyone, and it challenges everything Ezran has been fighting for since Harrow's death. From Ezran's thesis of forgiveness and how all violence spirals, the attack on Katolis is senseless, because there was nothing recent to trigger Sol Regem's revenge - which is why his anger gets turned on Runaan, because Runaan also challenges Ezran's beliefs about violence.
Rayla defends Runaan in the early seasons by saying "It's a job" about assassination, and Runaan himself in Bloodmoon Huntress says "I kill people. I don't judge them." That puts him in a very different category than say, Zubeia, who acted out of grief and rage, or Pyrrah, who retaliated against an attack on her, or Harrow, who acted out of personal grief, or even Avizandum, who acted in defense of his people, or even further back, Viren and Harrow and Sarai and Annika and Neha who acted to save theirs. All of them made choices driven by emotion, by some variation of love, whether it be living love or grief and anger. Runaan isn't like that. Runaan just takes without personal bias, which challenges Ezran's whole worldview and puts him in the same category of senseless violence as Sol Regem.
And that's why I think Runaan's tearful apology and confession in the end actually got through to Ezran, and why I don't think anything less than the breakdown with Callum and that confrontation would have done it. Ezran needed to see that Runaan has values and reasons, even if they're not good ones, and that he's willing to lay them aside to prevent further bloodshed. Rayla knew, of course, but she's been making a point to avoid the topic of their fathers since Season 1, and we've seen no evidence she broke that habit, so Ezran doesn't know Runaan the way we do even through her. I think it was less about Ezran needing Runaan to take accountability (we certainly haven't seen that from Zubeia) and more that he needed to know that Runaan wasn't the exact sort of threat he's supposedly meant to combat. Andromeda, one of the other assassins, explains in Bloodmoon Huntress that sometimes they know, without a shadow of a doubt, that a person brings more pain and violence into the world than they do love, and that's when their death becomes more valuable than their life. Ezran made his peace with that very concept during this season because of Aaravos. He imprisoned Runaan at first due to his own values against murder, but he still didn't understand why Runaan could do what he does. I think the final confrontation with Aaravos, coming after him with the Nova Blade, was Ezran's turning point and why he's able to understand Runaan's choices in the end. I don't think a confrontation earlier than that would have worked out - not with Callum as a mediator. (Soren or Amaya, with their backgrounds a soldiers, might have better luck.)
Also, I want to briefly touch on Runaan's behavior during all this too, because he surrendered himself to this consequence. He took one look at Soren, most likely recognized him, and knew it wasn't a fight he could win, so he didn't bother trying. He also is notably nervous about their escape, but goes along with it because like Rayla, he isn't human, and his cultural values drive him home more strongly than his personal choice to take the punishment he's being given, because he's only just begun the mental deconstruction that continues to drive him throughout the season. His cultural values got challenged by his love for Rayla in Season 1, and seeing the consequences of those actions in Katolis started his whole worldview to crumbling. But that's only just happened at this point, so when given the chance by Rayla, he goes for it, clutching at his dedication to his home and family as a shred of stability in the worldview he's just had broken apart. But he never once defends himself, physically or verbally, against Ezran's accusations or the soldiers, which is pretty telling.
So all in all, I agree that it was a complicated situation, and none of them were wholly right or wholly wrong morally. I do think it was actually pretty well in-character for all of them individually.
Season 7 Conflict between Ezran, Callum, and Rayla: Whoâs Right and whoâs wrong?
Or perhaps...
I feel like this has been a topic of heavy debate across the fandom and I guess I wanted to share my own perspective on this as well. I wanted to try to dive in and explore each of these charactersâ stances on things, since in my opinion, each of them had valid points. Long post ahead!
Starting with Ezran, weâre all mostly used to him being an innocent, kind and sweet cinnamon roll thatâs so quick to forgive others who have wronged him. And itâs not just us, but even the characters in the show too, which in some cases can be used against him (which I wonât get to here since this isnât the point of this post). But Iâm mentioning this here because this is major trait of his that we saw being challenged this season.
Well, I would argue maybe even since season 6:
Which not gonna lie, that was both surprising but also very satisfying, especially after all Viren has done in arc 1, especially in season 3, you could argue it was well deserved, and even Viren himself saw that. But getting back on topic, I feel like we start to see a more vengeful side of Ezran this season, especially after the trauma of having his whole kingdom that heâs ruling, his own home, be completely destroyed.
This itself was traumatic enough to change Ezran completely, especially after finding out that it was Sol Regem that destroyed it in a matter of minutes. And not only that, but also seeing Runaan, the very assassin who âkilledâ his father that same day, lead him to push all the blame onto him. That everything changed since the night Harrow was âkilledâ by him and Ezran was eventually forced to pick up the burden of being king and live through all of this.
Now I get that thereâs alot of people in the fandom pointing out the hypocrisy of âhow come he forgave Zubeia, who was the one that sent Runaan to kill Harrow, but he couldnât forgive Runaan?â Which I would argue narratively, that is the point and it was something called out by Callum. I do personally think that perhaps, if Ezran may have crossed paths with Runaan at some point before the destruction of Katolis, he could have had a different response? Not necessarily saying it would be positive but perhaps, not as vengeful or angry?
I also wanted to point to something interesting in the short story Deep Below, which is set right before season 5 in the storm spire when he went to get the siren stone:
The screenshots above are on Ezranâs reaction to seeing the shadowhawk with the red blood ribbon that confirmed Harrowâs âdeathâ and the emotions he felt. But not only that, it also felt like he chose not to let himself properly deal with that anger and instead bottled it up for the sake of keeping the peace that he fought so hard to keep. But of course all of that came tumbling down after the destruction of Katolis leading up to the immense change in Ezranâs behavior. We see him letting out all of bottled up anger once he saw the assassin who was involved in the direct killing of his father that lead to the complete change of his life.
Now moving onto Rayla, I think itâs important to remember that for over two years, she had no idea what happened to her birth parents or Runaan but only that Viren had something to do with their disappearances. Then by the end of season 4, she received the coins that contained their spirits and since then, itâs become one of her primary goals to free them, even if she had to set that goal aside for the sake of saving the world. Then getting to the end of season 6, she was forced to let go of her birth parents after she finally reunited with them after many years, just so that she would let them be together in the afterlife, while choosing to bring back Runaan so that she can finally reunite him with Ethari.
Now I know that ideally, she shouldnât have brought Runaan with her to Katolis, but because she made a promise to Callum that she wouldnât leave without him again and Runaan was still recovering and more desperate than ever to reunite with Ethari, she couldnât leave him on his own. I also think it wasnât the best idea to let Runaan walk around freely in Katolis but Iâm guessing none of the characters were expecting Ezran react in anger since they were mostly used to him being so forgiving.
Now we get to the next episode where Rayla, who was finally able to bring back one of her parents, has had that parent taken away from her once again. We see Callum trying hard to convince her to be patient and give Ezran some time to process everything thatâs happened and that he would eventually forgive Runaan. But then we get to the council meeting where things get especially heated.
While I do think that Rayla didnât bring it up or address this in the best way, I do think she made some really valid points:
And I know many people in the fandom have been arguing that Rayla was 'unsympathetic' towards Ezran but honestly, I think an argument can also be made that no one was sympathetic towards Rayla wanting to bring her family back together except for Callum, and I will talk more about him in detail later.
I also think another important detail we need to remember is that when it comes to this conflict, thereâs a major power imbalance here. While yes, Ezran is a traumatized 12 year old kid dealing with the destruction of his kingdom and seeing the face of his fatherâs killer, heâs also the king who has the final say in everything. Itâs his words and his orders against anyone elseâs objections that get followed. He also has the backing and loyalty of the council, crownguard and all of the Katolis guards too, while Rayla only had the support of Callum in this situation.
And because of how things went at the meeting and seeing how Ezran wouldnât listen to her and forgive Runaan right away, she decided to break Runaan out, despite Callum trying to convince her to be patient and give Ezran more time, to which then she responds:
Which then Callum fully accepts her decision and even offered to help (which again, Iâll talk more about later). But while the ideal thing for Rayla to do was to be more patient give Ezran time to do the right thing, which he eventually did at the end of the season, itâs also understandable why she couldnât stay patient. Because after years, she finally has the opportunity to reunite what remains of her own family again.
Now I get to my last point, Callum. Despite seeing a lot of hate being directed towards Rayla and Ezran for their different stances, from what Iâve seen, I feel like Callum has been getting savaged a whole lot by different parts of the fandom, despite being caught in between both sides and torn between two people he loves. I feel like more people are willing to look at the complexity of the situation when it comes to Ezran or Rayla, but when it comes to Callum, his stance is more often reduced to: âheâs a terrible brother who betrayed Ezran because he doesnât sympathize with himâ or âheâs a doormat for Rayla who unconditionally worships her even at the expense of others or the greater goodâ while leaving out so many details, events and aspects of his overall character. Now Iâm not saying that Callum handled things perfectly with Ezran and nor am I saying that he wouldnât do reckless and crazy things for Rayla, but I feel like thereâs so much more to him that just gets heavily ignored.
So as Iâve said before, Callum was caught in between rising tensions between Ezran and Rayla. While he did support Rayla and wanted to help her reunite her family, I just think itâs wrong to say he was âunsympatheticâ towards Ezran because:
And that to me isnât what unsympathetic looks like. Not to mention he kept trying to convince Rayla to be patient and give Ezran time, and even when Rayla went to break out Runaan, Callum still went and made an attempt to talk to Ezran. And like I donât think it was right of him to call his traumatized brother a jerk face when he went to talk to him lol, but we know how Callum can be when he gets frustrated, and he even apologized immediately and changed his tone afterwards. We then see Ezran open up to Callum about how his life completely changed after Harrow was âkilledâ and he was forced to take up a heavy burden at a young age. While ideally I do think that Callum couldâve verbally expressed more understanding towards what Ezran was feeling and dealing with, I do think he made a valid point when he brought up that Ezran forgave Zubeia despite her being the one who sent Runaan after Harrow. Now getting to my next point, this scene in particular:
What he said here made me think back a lot to arc 1, particularly, some of the stuff Harrow said in his last conversation with Callum:
And some things he told Rayla when she told him about her mission to avenge Avizandum and the dragon egg that was initially believed to be destroyed:
I also thought of some of the things Harrow told Callum in his letter:
And lastly something he said to Rayla in season 3 in their conversation after looking at Avizandum's stoned body:
I think itâs important to remember that yes, even Callum himself is aware of the violent cycle between the humans and Xadia and actually wants to end it. And while yes, Ezran grieving Harrowâs death and feeling so much anger towards Runaan was completely valid, I truly believe that Callum was also motivated in trying to convince Ezran to not take part in this cycle of vengeance. The very cycle that killed their mother, that lead Harrow to kill Avizandum in vengeance, which he himself even regretted and recognized was a mistake that lead to Zubeia sending the moonshadow assassins to kill him. And this was something that he brought up to Callum in both his last conversation and his letter, hoping that Callum and Ezran would break this cycle and not repeat his mistakes. And this was what Callum was attempting to do with Ezran, having even reminded him that this was the cycle of violence he was fighting so hard to end. And it did seem that Callum was getting through to him, and I do think that if their conversation didnât get interrupted by Soren calling out and maybe in a short amount of time, Callum wouldâve succeeded.
Of course next thing we see after Rayla and Sorenâs duel along with Corvusâs intervention, was Ezran approaching them with a bunch of guards and he had no hesitation in ordering them to attack an outnumbered Rayla and Runaan. It was only in this situation, when literal violence was about to escalate, that we see Callum fully take Raylaâs side and go against Ezran. Not having succeeded in getting through to his brother and seeing that he was still set on getting his revenge, was when Callum decided to step down as high mage and leave with Rayla and Runaan.
Now Iâve seen a lot of people criticizing Callum for leaving his traumatized brother in this situation, which like, yes it was a betrayal at a bad time and it hurt Ezran a great deal. But I also think itâs important to keep in mind that if Callum were to have stayed behind, he wouldâve been arrested and have not been able to do anything or even help Ezran in any way, especially with Ezran later becoming hellbent on building weapons of mass destruction, even with Zym becoming increasingly uncomfortable, and hardly listening to anyone aside from Aanya. In fact, I think this wouldâve lead to a far bigger strain on their relationship and less of a likelihood to reconcile and repair the rift created between them.
But anyways, this is my opinion on this whole topic. I personally think there wasnât one person in this that was entirely right or wrong in this situation, each of them had valid stances that just all came clashing together and lead to this massive fallout. But Iâm glad that in the end, they were all able to work it out and be able to reconcile things between them. And I know I made this super long but I guess I just wanted to dump out all my thought here.
Anyways, what do you think? Anything you wanted to add on to this?

Our non-marine heroine Karleeen McQueen
You know what, you already know lots of stuff about Ahti II, Iâm now going to tell you about Karleeen the spidergirl, Ahtiâs best friend and the protagonist of a story Iâm writing! A quick information sheet:
(+ Art reference)
Karleeen (with three eâs)⌠well, who doesnât know about Karleeen! Probably not by looks, but you could read all about her on the papers some years back. Itâs been a while, you'd hardly recognise her if you saw her now! Especially among the other jolly beachgoers, joggers, shoppers and summertime tourists; Karleeen lives in Naantali after all, with her single father on the coast of southwest Finland. In the summer it's busy, in the winter it's very quiet, all year round it's a very appropriate place for Karleeen, she thinks.
Now in her mid-teens (the Sirpaverse âstarting pointâ is 2021), Karleeen is a most open and jolly girl! She loves socialising and chats with just about anybody she has a chance to interact with for more than five minutes. Sheâs always planning outings and looking to spend time with her best friends, too! She enjoys being silly, making wordplay and coming up with puns with ridiculous set-ups. Karleeen is a sensitive soul, she feels all of her emotions very strongly and shows them strongly, too. She sometimes has trouble regulating her emotional reactions and has a tendency to spiral. It's very difficult for Karleeen to lie, her feelings will be very clear from her facial expressions and body language no matter how hard she may pretend to feel otherwise. Not that she'd even lie! It would make her feel too bad.
Karleeen has loved nothing more her whole life than making "thingamajigs" â you know, machines, things that move, little inventions! It's so fascinating to her, how pieces that are little more than scrap on their own weave together into intricate creations that are far more than the sum of their parts. When she was a young kid she'd make things out of twigs and rocks and rope, but in her teens she's now moved onto more sophisticated methods, legos and actual robot-building sets. She's also dipping her toes into coding, so far it seems fun and it offers an additional medium for making things (only digitally this time). Karleeen would love to study mechanical engineering when she's old enough to go to a university, but it'll be a while until then! Besides for robotics Karleeen enjoys hiking in the outdoors, climbing trees, basking, collecting fun and/or useless trinkets of various kinds and strawberry-themed items, playing platformers and action-adventure games and doodling.
Karleeenâs a smart girl, but she struggles a lot with languages. Or, well, donât let me entirely misrepresent her: she does have the achievement of knowing some ASL signs. Still, Finnish is the only language she speaks fluently and itâs her own mother tongue! She canât quite get anything else stuck to her brain, speaking Swedish or Surish or even simple English feels like a chore. Like stated above Karleeenâs body language is very clear, one of the more common actions Karleeen does when sheâs nervous, scared or sad is holding her hands and arms close to her chest.
Karleeen's favourite genre of music is classical, but she can't listen to it casually because it makes her very emotional. She likes pop, rock and soundtracks when it comes to just playing music in the car or with friends. Her favourite animals are elephants, and her favourite fish is the electric eel. Her favourite meal is minute beef steak with seasoned butter and chanterelles, but her actual favorite singular food item in general and favourite snack is wild strawberries. Her favourite drink is tap water. Her favourite flower is fireweed.
(Nowhere else to really mention this but Karleeen is also asexual and biromantic, it took a long while for her to figure out because her relationship with having human connections is rather complicated and unusual but sheâs comfortable in that identity and doesnât really overthink it, she has a lot of love in her heart for so many things so itâs only natural she would have a lot of love for many people too, she thinks)
#i want to point out that karleeen knows a little bit asl for a specific reason and not just because thats a sign language#apparently some people are under the impression that every deaf or hoh person in the world knows asl only?????#it is a specific feature that is unusual in her situation of being a finnish girl who does not interact with deaf people on a regular basis#and it is very intentional!#anyway. i love this girl and may you love this girl also when i actually finish my wips lol#karleeen is one of those few characters who came to me fully ready in a dream â even with a name!#karleen is also like an actual name which is crazy to me because i had no clue. im also coincidentally more used to the misspelled version#now having called karleeen that for years lmaoooo but thats how she was called in the dream UU#baby girl wonderful girl she has never done anything wrong in her life trust :]#karleeen#art#my art#sirpaverse#not fish

I started in DC by reading fanfics, but as I began to read actual comics, I started to be unable to read the actual fanfic that got me into it in the first place because it's so out of character.
But there are still some stories that I love to read because I love the found family trope so much, even if it isn't really accurate to the source material.
As a comics purist (sometimes), are there tropes that you like enough that you'll still enjoy a fic even if it's not accurate to canon?
oh my god this is SUCH a fun question. bc while i started with the comics, there were certain characters and/or character dynamics where i was exposed to the fanon before the canon (just bc it's hard to read everything when you start out just to read some fanfic) and so i've definitely experienced the fanon to canon transition. (*especially* with Jason Todd. i had only read 80s/90s stuff where he was already dead or the New-52 bc that was on-going when i got into comics and man. the fanon misunderstandings i had about him before i got frustrated and sat down to read all his pre-Flashpoint stuff were absolutely bonkers.) and aside from that, whilst i tend to prefer canon over fanon, i'm not past giving fanon its flowers for occasionally having really interesting insights. occasionally. so some of my fanon "guilty pleasure" tropes would probably be
Morally Grey Tim Drake - this is one where if you try to back it up with canon, i *will* get salty about it. of everyone in the Batfam aside from maybe Bruce and Cass, Tim has the *most* black and white morals. often his internal conflicts are routed in such an inability to compromise his moral views and it can cause him to clash with other characters. he's *very* stiff and rigid in his beliefs and is *rare* to compromise in even the smallest ways. i mean, DC has repeatedly used Tim Drake of Tomorrow/Savior/Gun Batman!Tim for a reason. it's to demonstrate that of everyone, Tim *cannot* have his morals compromised. there's no grey area for him. he's zero or a hundred, so if he tips over the edge of "too far" he tips *all the way*, and doing so is one of his worst fears, how he could go "too far" if he let himself. a couple panels out of context from Red Robin (2009) (which was a grief spiral for Tim to begin with) don't change that. now that said. if it's done *right*, i sort of love Tim being morally grey in fanfic. it takes a specific flavor for me, and it's incredibly important to include that mental spiral along with it, of him struggling to justify it. i don't have any interest in "Tim Drake is loosy goosy with Bruce's morals and has the highest kill count and no one knows teehee" bc it doesn't play with the interesting parts of making Tim morally grey, which are fracturing his psyche. but all in all, i think it's fun to put Tim in a morally grey area and i will read it in fanfic and i enjoy writing it a lot
Joker Junior!Tim Drake - i've not written it on this account (yet) but on my main ao3 account one of my biggest fics surrounds this concept. this is one of those "well *technically* it's canon but only in a specific very divorced from the comics universe and would not work at all in the main timeline" so, i categorize it as fanon in that 95% of fics exploring the concept are not doing so within the Batman Beyond universe, but the main timeline. i just love it. I'll take any excuse to whump Tim, but this concept is so fun. psychologically breaking Tim will always be my favorite pastime. there are so many ways to explore the long-term effects this could have on him, how it could affect the Batfam. i'm not a fan of it being used as a "gotcha" to Jason or Babs' trauma with the Joker to paint Tim as the Ultimate Victim, but it is fun to see how their relationships would be affected by being mutual victims of him. (i have a vague JayTim idea where TIm fully retires from being Robin after being Joker Junior and killing the Joker, making Steph Robin for most of his typical Robin era and Jason still tracks him down out of curiosity bc he wants to know what happened and all. very underbaked but i've got thoughts.)
Renegade/Apprentice of Slade!Dick Grayson - this is another one where yes, this happened *sort of* in canon, but i highly doubt most people writing Renegate!Dick have read or are actually pulling from Nightwing: Renegade. it's just an exploration fo the concept fo Dick being Slade's apprentice and i will always eat it up in any capacity. whether Dick grows up with Slade from a young age, or chooses Slade for whatever reason later in life. it's not anything that works in canon bc it compromises Dick morally (similar to the above with Tim) and therefore will always come across incredibly fanon in most fics. but i can't say i don't enjoy it. it's fun to make Dick a little morally fucked up and see what you can make him under Slade's tutelage.
Jason & Damian Meeting in the League -there's no world where i believe this could work in the canon comics. (maybe in the Young Justice cartoon i suppose, but even then i think it's iffy) i would go as far to say it's wildly unrealistic. i don't see a world where Ra's would let Jason anywhere *near* Damian, bc Jason was Talia's pet project that he didn't approve of. that all said, there's something very interesting about how they *could've* met and them potentially bonding during that timeframe. them being somewhat brotherly during this time because Jason sees Bruce in Damian and sort of latches onto the kid and Damian is full of wonder hearing real stories about Batman and Robin, then that getting violently ripped away by Jason leaving the League is fun to me. it's fun how that could affect them within the Batfam and all. it's super fanon to me, but i do not care. i will eat it up
Bad Dad Clark Kent/Good Dad Lex Luthor - i will admit as a late, i've been less and less kind to this particular fanon bc of everything i've argued with people about, *this* one seems the most pervasive as misunderstood fanon. i don't mind when fanon exists, my gripe is when ppl try to claim it's canon. and the *arguments* i've had over this with people who can never seem to cite an actual comic are... frustrating. but that said, i think there is something fun to this strictly in fanon. the duality of who you expect to accept Kon and who you expect to hurt him being flipped is just sort of fun for the occasional guilty pleasure fic. it can make Kon's internal conflict a bit more interesting. the same goes for the Jon favoritism from Clark, it's not a canon thing (and i rlly wish ppl understood how complicated the timeline of Kon and Jon is and any distance from Clark toward Kon isn't malice, it's that Kon is from a timeline that Clark does not remember in the current canon so Clark just straight up doesn't know the poor kid.) but it's sort of fun to give Kon that complex of being overlooked and forgotten sometimes. making Kon just a *bit* more Luthor than Kent will *always* appeal to me in fanfic, especially if he *knows* it's wrong but craves approval from anyone who will give it.
Good Dad Bruce Wayne - i'll die on the hill Bruce is canonically a shitty father. maybe not to the extreme some people write him as, but he's not great at it. that said, i enjoy it in fanfiction. sometimes, i just want silly fluff or hurt/comfort where Bruce finally gets it right and manages to comfort whatever Batkid is in the fic. one of my favorite fics of all time is hinged on Bruce being a good dad, so i think it's just fun to explore how good the relationships *could* be, if Bruce was slightly less of an asshole. i usually prefer him as an asshole, but there are times i want low stakes nonsense.
Gotham Rogues Having Soft Spots for Robin(s) - just about every Rogue in Gotham has done something absolutely irredeemable, and most of them don't like or care about anyone in the Batfamily. but if there's a fic where one of the Robins inexplicably is sort of close with a Rogue and they have a cute silly relationship out of it? I'll eat it up i fear. Steph and the Riddler are besties? I'll believe it. Tim and Scarecrow get along pretty well? give me ten of these. Rogues protecting Robins just hits a spot. the unexpected nature of the relationship, as well as the fact they see each other regularly, can make a lot of good fodder.
#necrotic answerings#canon vs fanon#batfanon#batfamily#I was *going* to include âJanet and Jack Drake are bad parentsâ#then realized I don't really like that fanon anymore.#but I used to go *hard* for it even knowing it wasn't canon. it was all projection but still#nowadays I think the tragedy of Tim losing his parents the way he did is *far* worse if they loved him and were good to him.#I'm so serious about the Kon thing i've had *nasty* arguments where ppl got so rude to me telling me to âGoogle itâ#like listen I get it. kon's canon backstory is currently difficult to understand#the timeline of the superboy mantle is a little confusing and most people have not read young justice (2019)#so for fanon it's far easier to simplify it as âclark just kinda sucks to konâ and i enjoy that#but the canon is also fun. it's fun when you consider how fucked up it is most people don't remember kon#and the timeline he remembers doesn't exist anymore.#also technically since they never killed off new-52!superboy on page there could be two superboys/kon-els running around rn. who knows.#i like to believe there is bc it's funny.#i have wanted to write a new-52!konkon/tim/kon sandwich#with the âis it selfcest or notâ question#bc new-52!kon wasn't a clone of clark and lex.#so like. he's arguably a different character just sharing the name kon-el for some reason#also on the nightwing: renegade thing i know *damn* well most fanon-only fans haven't read it (no shade in that)#bc the fanon crowd despises devin grayson and she wrote it.#one day i'll write a meta about fandom treatment of devin grayson trust me.#this question was SO fun#i feel like i should have more answers?#if you'd asked me like six months ago this list would be three times as long#but the more i exist in this fandom somehow the saltier i get idk what's happening#so now i'm more and more attached to canon#but i will never begrudge someone for liking fanon#like i said my issue with it is the confusion of what is canon

@xenobean Your wish is my commandâŚ
(This will have a few spoilery things from S1 and S2 but none from S3.)
So letâs start with the setting and surface theme: journalism and news media. Anyone who works in that field faces questions of integrity every single day. Good journalists seek the truth. They ask questions. But sometimes the truthâor one personâs integrityâthreatens to expose someone elseâs lack thereof. We see it all the time in what the characters face each episode. Noelene gets fired for a day because she accidentally pulls a fabricated quote that her own bosses didnât bother to check her on. Helen is constantly searching for stories that shed light on issues no one else will talk about, and in season 2 Dale is combative to that because heâs looking to save face and maintain his station which her convictions threaten. One of Helenâs most crucial moments comes because she has to choose between her integrity and her job.
Their professional world alone is meant to be built on truth and exposing the truth.
Then we get our characters.
Helen tries to hide her mental illness, at least from the public. And herself. She panics when her past stint in a mental institution is threatened to come to light. She runs away and tries to hide her episodes but isnât quite so successfulâbut sheâll still attempt to lie. (âI accidentally took too many pills,â âI think I was really dehydrated.â) And we see how her running from her mental illness rather than facing it head on or seeking help does more harm than good. And she constantly has reminders of the stigma of mental illness shoved in her face. She has people around herânamely menâscreaming at her and not taking her seriously, and it just fuels her reactive anger. Which makes her impossible to deal with to most people. Except Dale, who becomes the only safe person she knows. But even he canât always understand, especially when her struggles threaten his image.
Dale, meanwhile, has run from his bisexuality since he was a teenager. Didnât even have the language for it. He was shamed, wrongfully punished, made to feel like a pervert. As a result, heâs kept his true feelings to himself. Heâs leaned into what everyone else wants from him. Helen is probably the first person to know the whole truth and still love him as deeply as she does, but the way in which she finds out is at the cost of an indiscretion to their relationship. She feels betrayed not because he has that attraction to men, but because he kissed someone elseâhe entertained being with someone else while they were togetherâand still doesnât quite trust that he wonât leave her. So how he is supposed to feel anything other than ashamed? How is he supposed to respond other than to hide in his career and the one place he seems to be successful, accepted, and admired? No one can know he has these feelings or these thoughts. No one can know the real him. Because they would be appalledâor thatâs what heâs had reinforced in his mind.
Both of them, in their shame, fall apart despite the fact that theyâre the only two people who literally only see each other and love each other regardless.
Then weâre introduced to Kay Walters, whoâs spent her entire life having to live up to her parentsâ public image. Who fell to addiction because of the pressure. Because she never felt good enough in the eyes of the two people in this world who should have loved her unconditionally, without question. And when she comes back and Geoff and Evelyn find out what state sheâs in, theyâre forced to face their own failure. Their own neglect of whatâs important. Because they, themselves, are so full of shame at the idea of looking even just a little less than perfect. And when they face the fact that she needs help, thereâs shame on their part because their daughter is in rehabâwhich is just as shameful to her. It takes that come to Jesus moment to get them to reexamine themselves.
And without giving anything away about the final season, we watch the fallout from this shame and how Helen and Dale specifically must confront it. And throughout the entire series, itâs the people who refuse to be ashamed of themselves that seem to be the happiestâGerry and Carla, for instance. Or Tim. Or Linus. And Iâd love to dig more into how we see this play out for Helen and Dale these last six episodes, but Iâll leave it there since everyone is still watching.
So, yeah. Thatâs the point. And I adore this show for everything it is. â¤ď¸
Anyway the thesis of The Newsreader is that embracing the truth and everything real that you are is always going to be better than hiding in shame in this essay I willâ

I do not trust this Sydney fella from OMITB. All that coughing, hiding his face from Oliver and Mabel (and us, the audience). Coughing like a man âtoo weak to killâ? Knew Charles for years and years?? That just screams murder to me
#omitb#only murders in the building#I could be convinced otherwise but like. donât trust him#this show has told us over and over that Charles is not the most likable. someone who has known him a long time???#I donât think itâs Scott Bakuka on the grounds that real life celebrities playing characters of their same name have not been#murderers/murdered. sometimes suspected but never actually killers/killed#(for example Paul Rudd was not killed but his character was. sting was suspected but not a killer#I think they would be unlikely to have bakula as himself be the killer. but maybe thatâs just my affinity for quantum leap talkin)

Friede being that bridge between generations and the beloved student of Liko and Amethio's parents, to the point Liko's mother entrusts her daughter's safety to him and that Amethio's father acknowledged his work and kept his ID card long after Friede left Exceed and trusts him enough to let him know he always has a place with him..
Something something, once a student, now the mentor guiding their kids.
#breathtaking. spectacular.#friede beloved by many (me) and stealing the hearts of many (mine)#genuinely though.. he is so likeable. how trustworthy and reliable is friede for lucca (his former teacher!) to entrust liko to him#i just love how he just left such an impact on them. lucca never gave up on him and still helped him even when he was an adult#and crave never forgot him either. friede genuinely has a deep level of trust with both of them#(crave wasn't exactly his teacher the way lucca was but. he acknowledged his thesis so it feels like he is involved in academic stuff)#(probably part of the panel of those who read friede's research. and offered him work so either way in the hierarchy he was higher)#i love how friede is involved with their families. and how his path led him to liko and amethio.#even in the first ep. he stands between them. and knowing what we know now it makes their first meeting really meaningful to me#(also he has roy's grandfather's trust too. it's still not clear how he came to know him but roy's grandpa entrusted him to friede)#anyway.. friede the man that you are. carrying the themes in such a way.#something about him being raised and taught.. and now giving back to others.. namely to the kids of those who helped him#friede#character notes

Genuinely I think my most contraversial take is that the anime only backstory for Mizuki fucking sucks and I hate how fandom took that and ran with it and basically fandomised him as Iruka's abusive ex or just a shitty friend in general because to me his betrayal hits way harder if he genuinely was a decent good dude before that point in his life so it isn't just a shock to Iruka but the village as a whole since absolutely nobody expected it
If you decide that everyone but Iruka noticed his shitty behaviours it just kinda... cheapens the effect of the betrayal, especially since the kids trusted him and looked up to him too. Naruto, for instance, is fucking devastated by everything that happens there. Idk man it just kinda irks me that so many fics jumped on the anime bandwagon of making him a piece of shit from day one when I think there's so much more angst potential in him having been a good friend all of Iruka's life only for this to happen yanno?
#naruto#to be fair I've never been a fan of mizuki x iruka as a ship anyway#they're one of those duo's where I go 'man you know friendships are just as important as romance right? can we explore that angle more pls'#like. imagine you are recently orphaned. you have nothing to your name and no-one in your corner#and you meet and befriend a fellow orphan who becomes your closest bestest friend ever#you become teachers together. probably went on many missions together#everyone likes him and trusts him and you know he'll always have your back#and then he not only betrays the village he also betrays *you* and goes after one of the kids you both swore to protect#too bad iruka isn't a main recurring character bc it would've been so cool to see how the effects of that fucked him up after
