I keep having dreams about finding toys and the like that I really want these last couple nights... It makes me want to set up a visual library of a wishlist once I have regular internet again. I'm sure it's a waste of time and also computer space, but then that way when I want to look at my wishlist, look up a toy name bc I forgot etc without being directly tempted to spend money, I can just Do So (as opposed to shopping site wishlists).

Fun with German, or: I like to think I learn from my mistakes

In Take 1 of my webcomic, Percy was going to be mostly, if not fully bilingual as a result of having spent his early childhood around his father, whom I hc'd as their world's equivalent of German (apparently Schot is a misspelling/corruption of Schott, a German...surname, as I just found out? Ok so we might not know this guy's given name (so Percy's full name is Percival Schott? Has a nice ring to it actually...)).

This doesn't make a damn bit of sense, now that I think about it. He might know a bit of fantasy!German, all things considered, maaaaybe a tiny amount of fantasy!French because of Dr. Mort but that's...kind of a stretch? That said, I can have him speak or at least understand a bit more fantasy!German than you'd expect if he'd only spend 4-5 years around his father because of Dr. Heartfelt all but adopting him and teaching him the language as a bonding experience.

I also didn't actually know how being bilingual worked, but hilariously I kinda figured it out via people here making jokes about The Bilingual Experience from mishaps in their own life or complaining about fanfic tropes.

End result is that Percy's bilingual-ness got transferred over to Heartfelt in production, and while, yes, he does have the 'switches to native language for cursing and pet names' thing, he also has Bilingual Moments where he blanks on a word in either fantasy!English or fantasy!German and then either substitutes the equivalent word or clumsily tries to describe whatever he can't remember the word for, or if he's concentrating on something else/his focus is split, he'll switch from one language to the other without noticing/meaning to, sometimes mid-sentence.

For instance, if he were to, say, forget where he put his sleeve garters the night before (those little mini-belt things used to make sure one's sleeves hang properly, good for preventing soiling/contamination in his case) and was looking for them while getting dressed, he might turn to Poppy and start asking about it, resulting in something like this (translated into real-world approximations for convenience):

"Dearest, do you know where I put my- my...verdammt, what's the word...um...Ärmel-Strumpfbänder, last night, before we went to bed?"

"Huh?"

"You know! The small belts, that go on my sleeves! So they don't get in the way?"

this is a general curiosity thing, because of a slight pattern ive noticed (of course i could also be making something out of nothing who knows)

im curious if there’s any other transmascs named icarus. cause i’m transmasc and i go by both connor and icarus, and other than myself i’ve also seen three other transmasc icarus’s, which, you know, isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it’s happened THREE OTHER TIMES (so technically four in total if you count me).

is this just a random coincidence? do other transmascs have an inexplicable connection to the name icarus???

the reason it takes me so long to make the aa text post posts is because i just don’t look at text posts that often and some of the magic is lost when i go out specifically searching for character-coded posts. that said i NEED to find the “you should be able to disappear for a few months without anyone freaking out” post because i think i lost it and it’s SO edgeworth. but i don’t look at every text post and go how can i make this characters….. i have to find it naturally and go “omg they would totally say this” and even then half of them don’t make it in just due to either self doubt or i can’t fit the sprite onto the post screenshot. like there’s this post about someone pranking their dad by leaving open windex or something next to a cup of orange juice and then acting evasive about it then going april fools as soon as he took the teeniest tiniest sip and then when he’s about to tell her how dangerous that is just drinking the whole glass to reveal it’s just regular orange juice. and to me and i can’t explain it. trucy would do that. but that one will never happen because i can’t fit her sprite onto the screenshot. so anyways yeah it takes months because i don’t see text posts that often

aphelion, the pen name i use, comes from the astonomical word aphelion, meaning "the point in the orbit of a planet, asteroid, or comet at which it is furthest from the sun." i thought it sounded cool AKFKHSKSGJV <3

addiel, the name i go by, is a masc (?) name that means something along the lines of like... a righteous man or something like that. i've been using this name for a while but it doesn't resonate as deeply with me as it once did, so i may change it again. but the reason i picked it in the first place was because addiel has that very angelic feel to it. i am in love with 'iel' names. also, it shares the same first letter with my deadname, and i have no negative feelings towards my deadname. i like it, actually, but it's too inherently feminine for me.

so yeah! i kind of want something more ethereal now. still want a name beginning with 'a' though.

Haha I really really wish there was more research and awareness for those with PANS or PANDAS or any autoimmune encephalitis, I myself have PANS and it hurts like hell that those I care about don’t understand just how hard I’m trying to be pleasant to be around and to not hurt them emotionally when I’m flaring up. yes you support disabled and mentally ill people with nasty, mean, ugly, or otherwise "bad" symptoms. but are you normal about physically chronically ill people who's physical condition directly impacts their behavior and psychiatric condition? are you normal about physically chronically ill people who literally cannot repress, hold back, or regulate aggression, mean statements, or anger/rage episodes? are you normal about physically chronically ill people who legitimately cannot regulate any strong emotion whatsoever? are you normal about physically chronically ill people who have "bad" behaviors that would be unreasonable, cruel and unfair to "punish" because it's the almost equivalent to punishing them for something like having pain? are you normal about people like us? we exist.
