I’m thinking about getting toonsquid and not using flipaclip anymore. I might still use it sometimes but the ads are so annoying and I hate having to watch them to get more than 3 layers or add audio.

YO YO YO I HAD AN AMAZING ANIMATION IDEA AND I WANTED ADVICE 😔

Like I never animated or anything, I rarely do digital so I was wondering if you had any tips I could use!

Also my animation idea was Nimona and Gloreth on Bernadette by IAMX since I already had an idea in my head

Well, I've been animating for over 4 years now and most of the time I've been using the app Flipaclip for animating (without premium). If you want to make a frame by frame animation (or idk) I would recommend this app, but if you don't want to make a complicated frame by frame animation or whatever is too complicated for you, I'd say you should use ibis paint for painting and alight motion or capcut for editing to make a simple animatic. I wouldn't really say it's simple, but it's easier than making an animation that takes A LOT longer.

If you already know what to use then I think you should start sketching the ideas you have for the animation. I'd also recommend watching tutorials if you wanna make an animatic and don't have any ideas how to use an editing app!

If you're using Flipaclip, PLEASE don't buy premium, but if you want to, then it's your decision of course! Personally I wouldn't buy it because you can just watch ads, but if you wanna get rid of the watermark, you can't watch ads to remove it. You have to buy premium for that.

If you are better at traditional art, I'd say you should sketch everything you need on paper, then take a picture and then redraw it digitally. I've never done that before, but I think it might be easier for you.

Lastly, BE PATIENT. An animation/animatic can take A LOT of time and after some time you might lose motivation or you feel like you can't finish this. You have to take breaks! Since this is a 5 minute long song, it can take VERY long for you to finish this animation (I don't know if you want to make it shorter or not). Most of my animations take over 3 days to finish, but most of them were short (20-50 seconds).

the audio will be super quiet sadly ( I had to record the song, because I would've had to pay to put in the program)

what program do you use to make your animations? -a shy admirer of your art

I use flipaclip to plan out the roughs, and then draw the frames in procreate, then stick them together with InShot! I only work on mobile so I have to get creative here lol. Protip- do not trap yourself into clean detail. I am just a fool who aims for perfection and then strains their wrist over the next two week crunch time. I’m glad you like the videos and art!!

i use procreate and flipaclip together

flipaclip is really good for at least planning/sketching . it has really only basic tools (like a pen/pencil etc but nothing like multiply/screen/filter tools) , and has very easy interface . it’s free but to get rid of watermarks is a 1 time purchase membership thing and it comes with a bunch more benefits too ! you can make really long animations and put sounds inside the app so you can sync your animation to it real super easily

procreate is a 1 time paid thing (not subscription) and i use it for the actual finished product since it’s a full drawing app n has all the fancy tools like filter effects . downside is that there is a layer/frame limit so you have to break your longer animations up into smaller bits especially if you’re using filter layers on each individual frame

I use capcut. Its got a lot of features, you can get rid of the watermark, and its free

um you asked about good things for animation, flipaclip is good, and free, and there are a few ads, and a few features (like getting rid of a watermark in the corner) are hidden behind a paywall, but it's really good for free

Here's an animation I made for a character of a friend's series: Jonathan and His Stories. I used Flipaclip; I caved and paid for the full version to get rid of the watermark. I think if I keep making small animations over time, each one will get progressively better. 🤞🏽

Tried out making an animation today. Took all the spare time I had in the middle of things but.. I only regret doing this on a phone.. If you know good tools for animation Leave some notes, I’m getting kinda tired of having to leave some half assed cause the project too annoying to make. Then at the end I found out I had to PAY to get rid of there

watermark.. Not that FlipaClip is bad or anything but paying $3 so the stuff I make isn’t branded by the tools that isn’t even all there, isn’t my cup of tea.If the post is well received then I’ll be okay with posting some of my extra animated doodles and concept stuff.
