The ending of peaceful property, much like the entirety of the show, was bittersweet. I really tried to hold in my tears, but ended up crying anyway.
The ridiculous part is that it wasn't the sad backstory or Home's goodbye with his grandpa that made me cry. No, it was Home's silly little song and dance wearing that bright orange outfit that broke me. To me, it was the most impactful scene in the whole series. For me, this was the climax of the story. Because to me, this scene represents everything I feel this show was about. It was the perfect culmination of contradictory emotions.
Yes, this show has its flaws. Yes, it is nowhere near perfect. But I loved it anyway. There was so much love and effort poured into this series and it shows. Everyone involved in this project tried their best to present something meaningful and wholesome, and I appreciate that genuine love and passion.
Finding comfort in your own home with the people you truly love amidst the cruelties and unfairness of life-to me, this is what this whole show was about. To be able to laugh amidst the difficulties of life, to feel deep sorrow even in the happiest of times, to survive the harshest struggles without a moment of weakness yet fall apart because of a simple sentence, to love the person you hate and hate the person you love, and so much more that makes us human-this is what this show gave us.
It started as a silly little ghost show, and ended up becoming an exploration of family and home. While watching this show, I laughed, I cried, I became angry, I felt frustrated, I felt helpless, I became excited, I felt disheartened and so much more. To me, a show that managed to make me feel so much is a good show. I had a wonderful time watching it.
Was the ending of this show happy or sad? You could say it was neither, or you could say it was both. And that is why I think it was the best ending for this show. I am glad that my ragtag family of weirdos can stay together and start a new journey together. Suradech is alive and well, and so are the other four, and that's all I wanted from the ending. Because as long as you live, the possibilities are endless.
Peaceful property will always have a place in my heart.
Side note 1: I really appreciate the fact that Suradech remained the mvp till the very end. He really saved the day. Suradech is the ultimate best boy. Making a shades wearing bodyguard without any dialogue so endearing to the point I was willing to get into a fight for him is the real achievement of this show in my opinion.
Side note 2: I have a lot of things to say about family and familial love in this series. This is something that has been brewing in my mind since the first episode so my thoughts re all jumbled. But I will write an essay once I manage to organize my thoughts.
Side note 3: I was not scared by the horror part of this show. I don't know if it was because I am genuinely that unbothered by horror or because I was too busy appreciating the ghost makeup. Whatever the reason may be, the primary emotion I associated with the ghosts was sadness, not fear. The team truly did a great job with the ghosts.
#peaceful property#peaceful property the series#i will miss my tragic horror comedy#i had so much fun watching it#suradech is still the mvp of this show#yes i will die on this hill#but yeah it was a bittersweet experience#also the tonal whiplash i got from the thk trailer playing right after#one moment i am feeling all these bittersweet emotions#the next moment i am seeing whatever it is that fadelstyle are doing in that sauna#shocked me right out of my feels#i totally forgot thk is going to be on the same slot because i was so invested in the last episode hence the shock#anyway it really was a really fun watch for me#i am writing this as i am half asleep btw

I can't stop thinking about this scene..
There is just so much from way Madeleine softly looks at Claudia as she talks about the flowers they are growing in their garden. Claudia looking up from under eyelashes so smitten it's so sweet!
To Claudia calling Louis's daddy Lou again after all this time and in a teasing manner for his father like- overprotectiveness after all this time. And then thanking Armand for never treating her like a child and being considerate towards Armand about difficult position he was put in because of her and Louis. ( despite Armand not giving her the same consideration mind you. Yes I stand with my cancelled wife regardless. ) Also another genuine Claudia smile but this time directed at Louis! My heart!
The cheers to new beginnings when it really was the beginning of end is so haunting. And yet I was still being seduced by the tale.
Madeleine confirming that Claudia loved Louis and Louis loves Claudia. And yet it this love that leads to tragic ending as if even one of them didn't they wouldn't be making this stop to see Louis and be off on their adventures.
Madeleine then also confirming that Louis loves Armand to Armand's utter delight as you can see the sheer joy on his face. Which is another confirmation that Louis emotionally withholding still but at this time he can still joke about it and isn't at all emotionally cold as he is in Dubai. In Dubai using affection as reward whereas here it is just comfortable and loving; as you do when family teases you for being sappy about your partner. ( Also genuine smile from Louis here! ❤️ ) And as Armand heads to the door you can get caught up in the tale of it being romantic comedy rather than the reality of the Gothic horror to come. The change from soft warm lighting to cold blue lighting as stark reminder of the genre we are in and Armand's smile dropping as soon as he turns his back, the hints of pain and perhaps even confliction after love confession? ( Assad you deserve Emmy for these micro expressions )
( Also Louis's New Orleans accent!!! I have missed you! ❤️ )

The surreal thing about the Titan submersible: unless someone pulls off a miraculous last-minute rescue, when we all wake up tomorrow, those five men will be dead.
I mean, assuming they haven't already hyperventilated the last of their oxygen or imploded in a hull failure event.
It's currently June 22nd, 1:48 AM, MDT. If they're still alive, they will not be within the next...what, three hours? Give or take. And it would take hours to get the sub to the surface if it were found miles underwater, so if it's at the bottom of the sea, that really gives the rescuers...I don't know, like, maybe an hour to pull off the impossible?
These men are about to cross the event horizon.
When the banging sounds were first reported, it blew my fucking mind. I'd been certain that they were dead already, or that if they weren't, they would be soon. Without question. Then came this bizarre, impossible glimmer of hope. And I thought, if those sounds really were occurring at thirty-minute intervals, if it really was the Titan passengers, then maybe—maybe—they had a chance.
But they just...don't. Let's be realistic: they're about to die. We know this. We know for a fact that their time is about to run out.
And I know people are angry about the Missing White Woman Syndrome feel of it all. It would make for such on-the-nose satire. Five wealthy men have the world on pins and needles; where was that energy when hundreds of refugees drowned off the coast of Greece a week ago?
It frustrates me that I'm so invested in the Titan sub. It's like the entire incident was orchestrated for the sole purpose of grabbing attention (of course I don't believe that's the case). The very premise of the sub is tauntingly ridiculous—so very blatantly an expensive suicide. I saw someone compare it to an Onion article, and it IS.
The shitty video game controller, the ominous waiver, Stockton Rush's portentous comments (hell, even his name), the toilet sat right in front of that tiny dollhouse window. The absurd price tag paired with a history of failed dives and an OceanGate employee fired and sued years ago for raising safety concerns.
God, it's so dumb. It's so so fucking dumb. In real life, what we'd call "foreshadowing" is really just actions→consequences. But still. Still. It reads like sitcom writers setting the dominos for a season finale, tirelessly working to maximize memeability so we can all point and laugh with our popcorn.
The sheer pointless, brainless, wasteful extravagance of it all makes it easy to forget how horrific and tragic the ordeal really is. It grants us some strange permission to rubberneck.
And, well, who wouldn't want to rubberneck? The drama. Horror movie levels of repulsion. Any fear you can imagine—the dark, the cold, the ocean, suffocation, confined spaces, death—all wrapped into one perfect, cinematic nightmare. It's a black comedy: dumbassery punished by a fate we don't, shouldn't, wish even on billionaires.
Then, of course, there is the deadline. Pun not intended.
That, I think, is what's really gripped us. The limited oxygen supply is a countdown, a ticking time bomb. Ten minutes left in the movie—can the protagonist pull off a daring escape in time?
God, I know I sound like one of those crisis actor conspiracy theorists, but you couldn't manufacture a more gripping story if you tried. That hard figure we've seen in every news article: 96 hours. Ninety-six hours to save the day.
Can you see the Netflix docudrama now? The cuts to a black screen with the remaining number of hours emblazoned in the center? "If we don't find that sub tonight, those men are dead," some intrepid rescuer says...a split second of grave silence...then the scene goes black, except for a line of heavyweight white text that reads, in all caps, "SIX HOURS REMAINING." Next we'll see a heart-wrenchingly candid conversation between the passengers, for character development.
You know Channel 5 is airing a documentary about the Titan in the UK tomorrow. Tonight, actually, since I guess it's technically Thursday morning. The countdown was so hard-set, ITN calculated the exact hour at which they could broadcast their production. The perfect moment for them to capitalize on that post-curtains melancholy we all get at the end of a movie.
It's crass, but fascinating, too. Is ITN going to acknowledge their production timeline by leaving the documentary's ending ambiguous, a choice which will ring bittersweet when aired in the aftermath of the inevitable deaths? Will they scramble to concoct an ending in those mere hours after the passengers asphyxiate? Have they already made two endings: one in case of a miracle, and one in case of a tragedy? Any answer is soulless.
But all of this is soulless. The Titan is our gladiator fight, our bread and circuses. Still, I can't stop staring, because I cannot wrap my head around it. It's 3:30 AM now. Within hours, they will be dead, sure as an execution.
Few news stories come with such a grim deadline. Almost always it's a nail-biting rescue whose twists and turns we follow until some hitherto-unpredictable endpoint; or a sprawling clusterfuck of tragedy trailed by aftermath upon aftermath; or a search for a missing person that eventually meanders into a quiet presumption of death.
The certainty blows my mind—the finality of it, the tragedy of it, is incomprehensible. It doesn't feel real. Why do I care so much? Those men were dead from the start (if not literally, then certainly figuratively). Why do I keep reading about it, posting about it? Why can't I stop watching the car wreck smolder? What am I doing still standing in the street?
I hate that I fell prey to the submarine story like everyone else with an internet connection. But whatever deity may or may not exist got bored, I guess, and crafted the dramedy-action-horror hybrid of the year. Even wove in little cliffhangers (the banging! On the sonobuoys! There's still time!) to string us along like a damn HBO producer.
It gets me, man.
It's 4:00 AM, MDT. I guess it's really over, huh? I know 96 hours was never an exact deadline, but let's not be idealistic here.
I hope it was quick. I hope they imploded in a single terrible instant.
I hope the next sunken boat of six hundred refugees wins as much attention as the Titan did.
I hope Netflix doesn't make that docudrama with the black screen and the all-caps line of heavyweight white text.
I hope we sleep. I hope I sleep. I hope we all can sleep.

POTO adaptations analysis — Part 1 — The Phantom of the Opera (1925), by Rupert Julian, starring Lon Chaney and Mary Philbin
I will list the positive and negative points of which midia and give a score at the end (remember this is MY OPINION)
Positive points:
– this movie has a lot of different soundtracks, but my favorite is Gabriel Thibaudeau's. His Don Juan Triumphant piece is simply fantastic
– the casting couldn't be more perfect, even if Raoul and Christine were blonde in the original novel, the actors still give an amazing performance for their characters. Mary Philbin and Lon Chaney as the two main holes are the best thing of this movie
– it's extremely Leroux accurate. Sure, they needed to explain the events as fast as they could because it's a silent movie of less than 2 hours, but it still captures the atmosphere of the novel
– the scenarios are amazing and they were made specifically for this movie (no, they didn't go to the actual Opera Garnier, it was all built!), specially Erik's lair which is amazing
– can we apreciate more the unmasking scene? Aside from the acting and direction that are already great, the scene is both frightening and tragic, it makes you sympathize for both Christine and Erik in that situation
– the figurine of this movie is speechless. Although i miss Christine's black dominó, but it's still accurate to the characters and the 19th century
– aside from horror and romance, this movie also includes the comedy scenes that the original novel had
– the chandelier scene was pretty difficult to simulate back in 1925 yet they still managed to do it realistically 👌🏼
– Erik's hand gestures and expressions 🥹 it's a whole movie by himself
– THE RED DEATH OMG his red cape in a black-and-white scenario is just 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
– Erik's make-up is obviously the best thing about this movie. Lon Chaney made it all himself, his work is still the most accurate and realistic deformity
– they included the Grasshopper and Scorpion scene
– Erik's lion alarm is so cute (not sure of how it works but anyway)
– the scene where Erik enters the lake as the Siren is so fucking perfect, really it's weird and cute the same time (and seeing wet Erik honestly makes me wetter than the Count's corpse)
– the scene where Erik leads Christine to his lair for the first time is the sweetest scene ever, he is so sympathetic and trying his best to make her comfortable
– also; the Don Juan was written out of the love he had for Christine. She was his inspiration 🥹 he wrote it for her!!
– DAROGA IS HEREalthogh he is a white man and has no relationship with Erik butAND HIS NAME IS LEDOUX
Negative points:
– instead of the love triangle, Raoul and Christine are just lovers since the beginning of the movie and it obviously makes him more "sympathetic" (even if he's useless and has creepy behaviours such as hiding in her dressing room to spy on her)
– Erik directly and shamelessly threatens to kill Christine in the unmasking scene? No, why??
– Christine has little to no agency here, and the rooftop scene makes her much more unsympathetic, she wasn't so petty in the novel even in the Apollo's Lyre
– the ending. Obvious that nonsense angry mob that discovered Erik's lair out of a miracle was included after the original ending was changed. It's just nonsense and cruel and takes away the redemption that Erik needed, like if the original message didn't even exist
Movie score: 8/10 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌗

Some thoughts about Sherlock Holmes' The Hound of the Baskervilles
It has been a bit of time since I read the final chapter of this novel, time which I almost always need let a story fully sink in and to sort out my thoughts about it. But a week or two has passed and my mind is still not entirely made up - so I decided to write a post about it in the hope that typing it out will clear my mind somewhere along the way.
I loved parts of The Hound of the Baskervilles. I'm not sure I loved the whole of it.
It was delight to see Watson in an active role, actually figuring things out - if with a bit more impulsiveness than wisdom, which feels so typically him, especially with the added influence of Henry Baskerville who had a very similar energy. The start of this story had some excellent comedy: the skull-obsessed Mortimer, sir Henry being Upset about his stolen boots, Holmes being outsmarted, Stapleton chasing moths. What I missed in Holmes/Watson dynamics in the middle was made up by finding out how wonderfully sappy Watson sounded while writing to him.
I thought that Stapleton as a villain was quite well done. You are given reasons to be suspicious about him pretty much from the point where Watson first met him , yet at the same time Doyle managed to make him seem both too harmless and adorable and too obvious to be the main villain, so that was some clever writing.
There were some well-thought out twists. Never saw the convict being mrs Barrymore's little brother coming, nor Stapleton being a fellow Baskerville, though the man on the Tor being Holmes himself did not surpise me. The abuse of two different women playing out in the background gave this novel poignant tragedy and emotional depth, as well as the issue of Holmes not trusting Watson with the truth, and Watson's confrontation of it with him.
What I think I missed most was the thing supposed to tie this whole mystery, gothic horror-inspired thriller together: the thrill. And it's not like I'm just impervious to victorian environmental storytelling: I was very much chilled by descriptions of the mountains and forests and sea while reading Dracula, or the fog-obscured London alleys in dr. Jekyll and mr. Hyde, and I can't really think of any examples at the moment but I'm sure Doyle managed to thrill me in other stories. Yet here... I missed a looming threat, an overwhelming sense of danger. You pretty much know from the beginning that the Hound is a real dog, for Mortimer says he found real dog footprints at the very start, so that pretty much cuts out the tension of 'is this supernatural?' The danger of a loose convinct on the moor also never really manifested itself, as neither Watson or Henry Baskerville is ever in danger of him, and he's a little forgotten within the narrative until he's pretty much elimated as a threat quite early on by the reveal that he's the housekeeper's little sibling. Watson's repeated descriptions of old buildings being scary/autumn being melancholy/the moor being moody and dangerous just never managed to convince me - perhaps a little too much 'tell, not show', perhaps because of personal positive associations with those things, perhaps because it feels a bit tired and overdone in fiction by now. Maybe in the time it was written, this angle was less cliché. I only found myself guinely scared for the sake of Henry Baskerville by the very end, yet even then it felt like more like tragic 'Holmes might be too late/might have fucked up' than suspense.
I understand everyone who loves this novel! Personally, as a whole, it just didn't quite work for me
#sherlock holmes#letters from watson#the hound of the baskervilles#writing about it worked! my mind feels clearer now

Top 5 paintings of Dante?
5. Domenico Petarlini, Dante in Exile (1860 circa)
Not the best depiction of Dante in my honest opinion – his face looks way off –, but I love how forlorn he looks. He just went on his depression walk, holding his little book, and picked this particular spot to sit and brood. He's not even looking at the see he's so sad. What is he thinking? Is he missing Florence? Is he regretting his parasocial relationship with the Holy Roman Emperor? We'll never know. What we do know, though, is that he looks sickening in his red skin-tight leggingsboots.
4. Annibale Gatti, Dante Receives News of His Exile (1850-1858)
He is once again brooding on some non-identified hill with his trusty book in hand, when some tween hikes up to his place of refuge and tells him he has to pack up and leave – actually, it looks like they have already packed up for him. And he is so sad. The saddest boy in Florence exile. He's probably thinking that he needs to find a stick to carry that bundle like a dejected little anthropomorphic cartoon squirrel.
3. Ary Scheffer, Dante and Virgil with Paolo and Francesca (1835)
The tale of Paolo and Francesca's tragic love is a bit much for little Dante, who swoons "away as if [he] had been dying" and falls "as a dead body falls." This one is pretty self-explanatory, really. He's just... laying there.
2. Gustave Doré, Dante and Virgil in the Ninth Circle of Hell (1861)
Doré is of course a veteran Dante illustrator and I think he gets the horror and tenderness of the Comedy like nobody else. In this one, everyone's favourite poetic duo is going through the Ninth Circle, where sinners guilty of treachery are condemned to spend eternity in a frozen lake where there is no light nor warmth. There are frozen heads and a lot of gnawing going on, but Dante is not letting go of Virgil. No ma'am. He's holding on to his man as he "accidentally" kicks Guelph traitor Bocca degli Abati in the head.
1. William Bouguereau, Dante and Virgil in Hell (1850)
Thee Dante and Virgil painting for me. They're in the 10th Bolgia of the Eighth Circle – there are imposters, falsifiers, counterfeiters, etc. running and clawing and biting, surrounded by filth and disease and hell demons. Dante is once again holding on to his guide Virgil, and he's looking very intently at Gianni Schicchi the imposter and Capocchio the alchemist who are going at it... very homoerotically... mh.

Spooky season fairytales (4)
This series of posts is supposed to be about movies and a few television series, but given it is about dark, spooky, creepy or eerie fairytale-inspired works, I am bound to explore some non-movie pieces. More specifically three works.
The Book of Lost Things
I talked previously about my great love for this 2006 book. John Connolly had already proven his talent at making teenage fantasy mixed with dark comedy (not to say burlesque horror) with his series of "Samuel Johnson" series, but with this book he also left his mark within the world of fairytales. Dark fairytales.
There is still a bit of humor and comedy in this book - but not much. One chapter maybe. The rest is dark, creepy, sad, disturbing... but also very touching, very poetic and very beautiful. "The Book of Lost Things" tells the story of David, a young boy living a hard life in 1930s England. He had to live with the long sickness and death of his mother, he cannot stand his stepmother and her new baby, his father is away from home due to his work involving him with the nascent World War II, the threat of said war forces the family to move to a remote countryside house with a tragic past... And David thinks he is going insane because strange things are happening. He can hear books talk for example, and a strange shadowy "crooked man" keeps appearing at the corner of his eye...
The culmination of these supernatural events results in David entering the world of fairytales, a gigantic forest filled with knights and princesses and talking animals and dwarfs and witches... Except that it is a world where fairytales went wrong. Very wrong. It is a dreadful and horrifying world where all the grimmness and terror of the original tales are played at full force, and David only has one hope to return home: find the good king's magical "Book of Lost Things"...
This book deals with a lot of serious topics - which is what makes it at the same time hard and beautiful of a read. It is a book that doesn't just twist fairytales for the sake of it (though there is a perverse game about reinterpreting the folktales in the most shocking ways). But it does so to help us, and David, explore themes such as grief, disease, war, the loss of the people you love, the desire to return to a nostalgic past... It is a great book.
(And how come I just learn TODAY upon writing these lines that Connolly just RELEASED A SEQUEL! 13 YEARS AFTER THE ORIGINAL! I'm going to buy this for Halloween)
Dimension 20: Neverafter
"Dimension 20" is a web-series by the team of CollegeHumor. In the same way as "Critical Role", "Dimension 20" is a D&D role-playing show, with each season following a campaign where the members of CollegeHumor, using their talent as stand-up and improv comedians, make their reole-playing adventure as entertaining and engaging as possible for the viewer.
Each season has a different theme, setting and universe, and the season known as "Neverafter" is, as you can guess, the "dark fairytale" season. Neverafter takes place in the world of fairytales and nursery rhymes - but things are starting to... be wrong. Happy endings go missing. Gruesome deaths spoil the magical happiness. The peace of the kingdoms is troubled by monsters popping out left and right. Armies are rising up. A storm is coming. The Time of Shadows falls on what was supposed to be a "happy ever after", and in this upcoming chaos, a group of travelers gather together to try to survive... Before discovering a cabal of manipulative fairies, tyrannical lords, creepy princesses, ancient witches and other abstract monsters trying to deal with world-threatening troubles, plunging a simple dark fantasy tale into a cosmic horror epic...
In 20 episodes, the campaign depicts the adventures of six characters. Princess Rosamund du Prix - the Sleeping Beauty princess, who had to free herself from her thorns when her prince failed to come, and is now searching for him. Ylfa Snorgelsson, Little Red Riding Hood, whose fairytale went off to a very traumatic end and left some of the wolf inside of her... Prince Gerard of Greenleigh, the prince from the "Frog Prince", who is now returning to being a frog as the love of his wife wanes... Puss in Boots, forced to return at being a scheming and scamming scoundrel after his kingdom and master were destroyed by giants... Timothy "Mother" Goose, an old man who inherited a magical book after the death of his son Jack and is haunted by a terrifying black gander... And Pinocchio, the magical puppet-boy, now a warlock who uses as a staff his own broken nose and whose patron is a disembodied and mysterious "mother" figure...
Little Nightmares
Ah, Little Nightmares... Who hasn't heard of this groundbreaking video game that marked 2017 with its unique, eerie story?
A little girl in a yellow raincoat wakes up in the dark and humid depths of some sort of industrial area, near the corpse of a hanged man... She wanders with a little light throughout pipes and cells, infested with deadly vermin, filled with the remnants of the presence of other children, overseen by mechanical eyes turning flesh into stone... And soon she discovers herself inside a nightmarish, impossible structure inhabited by child-killing giants, deformed monsters that are out to get her.
Little Nightmares is primarily an attempt at capturing and translating into a video game primal childhood fears and the type of nightmares a little kid can have. It is about a small, helpless child, confronting monsters that are grotesque caricatures of adulthood, in a world too big for her and designed to destroy her... But Little Nightmares also take a strong inspiration from traditional fairytales, making the video game a dark fairytale epic. I don't think it will be a spoiler by now due to the game's huge success but...
... A little girl exploring a dark and haunted supernatural world. A blind giant looking around for his victim using his other senses. A pair of monstrous cooks killing and preparing children for the gargantuan and repulsive feast of obese clients. An intense focus on food and hunger and cannibalism. Helpful little gnomes straight out of a children's fairy book. A beautiful but evil sorceress with a special relationship towards mirror, antagonizing the female protagonist while having some maternal untertones towards her... What if the evil queen of Snow-White was the head of a restaurant for ogres? And no need to add that the games has strong Del Toro tones evoking his fairy-related movies (Pan's Labyrinth, Hellboy II), while also disturbingly twisting the Ghibli movie style, making this the horror version of "Spirited Away".
The game received an acclaimed sequel, but I couldn't see very obvious fairytale tones in this one, much more focused on a dystopian feeling and ambiance.

Higurashi When They Cry Hou Ch. 2 Watanagashi pt. Final
Guess this is all tied up in a neat little package.
Ah man, so much for everything being tied up nice and neat.
I miss the simple days of when murder victims, and the dead killers stayed dead. It's like a bad horror series where they have to contrive reasons for why and how Michael Myers survived being locked in a burning building with no avenue for escape. "He survived because he hid where the guns are hidden." Bullshit, I don't think hiding in an impromptu oven will stop you from being cooked to death. Maybe the dead Mion and dead Takano are also friends with the writer and convinced him to spare their lives for a smidge.
There's a quote from an old crime writer named Mickey Spillane. "Nobody reads a mystery to get to the middle. They read it to get to the end. If it's a letdown, they won't buy any more. The first page sells that book. The last page sells your next book." You might think this is a jab at Ryukishi07, but I like to think that he's heard this quote and has ingrained it in his soul. Come to think of it I'm pretty sure a lot of writers use this trick, even if they don't like to admit it. The mystery of how people who were apparently dead days before their corpses were found is an intriguing mystery. Now, of course this isn't the end of the chapter, but it's close enough.
It is a pretty good joke, shame Mion didn't see the comedy in it. Also it's tragic that the two were attacked and lost their faces. So how much of this was actually real do you think? I'm going to guess everything after the stabbing is all in Keiichi's mind and he did die of his stab wound. You don't twist the knife if you don't mean to make sure your victim is absolutely dead. I'm not a huge fan of the "everything was just the main character's dying dream" trope because I generally feel that's just people interacting with the book/game/VN/whatever at the absolute laziest possible level.
But this can't be real, up until this point ghosts haven't existed in the narrative at all. Not even as a one-off casual mention. I suppose you could argue that spirits exist because of the notion the god Oyashiro exists, and demons, but that could just as easily be counter-argued with the explanation these are just fairy tales.
I have a backup theory. My main bet is everything post stabbing is entirely in Keiichi's head, and he died from the wound. But the alternate theory I have is that everything up until Ooishi left happened, and that's when Keiichi died. His wounded body couldn't handle the mental strain of being told Mion, Shion, and everyone else had died, and as such it simply gave up. Which is extremely bad luck for Ooishi, that the last witness of the entire Sonozaki/Watanagashi Incident died shortly after he saw him. Which I guess would kind of make Ooishi the grim reaper.
I enjoyed it a lot better than Onikakushi. It was much more intriguing of a read.
Rika, just vibrating with fury.
Sorry Satoko, I'm pretty sure everyone's gonna be put through the wringer before all's said and done.
Ah, they have fun.
No.
Anyway, I do have a question, please feel free to answer it, but be mindful not to spoil please. Should I bother reading these All Cast Review Sessions? Do they actually contribute to the overall narrative? Or is it just a decompressing lighthearted discussion about the chapter? Would I lose anything if I just jumped directly from the end of say Chapter 3: Tatarigoroshi and went in immediately to Chapter 4: Himatsubushi? Basically, I'm wondering if these Review Sessions are like the Tea Party segments from Umineko, and will add large amounts of plot details to the overall narrative.
I ask this like it'll make a difference, I know myself well enough that I'm just going to read them regardless. Still, I'm curious.

The Mosley Review: Lisa Frankenstein
Often the question the same question comes up in cinema. Why don't we have any more romantic comedies? Where are the quirkie coming of age films that tackle the age old themes of teen life struggles, social constructs within the popularity of each group or just the classic build up to a date to prom? Where are those films?! Well, here's a film that illustrates why that film genre has been buried and is slowing being unearthed. Like many of you, I enjoy a darker and off beat rom com from time to time and how it reflects the current youth lifestyle. Unfortunately, most of today's youth is online instead of in the real world. It was refreshing for this film to strip away modern tech and go back to the often romanticized era of the 80's and fully embrace the sorely missed awkward teen trope and macabre tone of early Tim Burton films. This film excels in that many times when it focuses on that vary grove it tries to stay in. Where it falters is in its weird pacing issues and lack of personal identity. It ultimately had nothing to say that I haven't heard already and it rushed its way through the magical nature of the heartfelt story that exists inbetween the seams.
Kathryn Newton was fun as the shy and distant teen Lisa Swallows. What I liked in the beginning was her innocence and sort of quiet demeanor in the way she would interact with people in her life. For a few moments she had a mystery to her that gave her that needed silent edge. She was a teen of very little words and when she finally finds her confidence, that's when the character really comes to life. I wish we could've played with her psychological decent and how she copes with things. Liza Soberano was really perky and loving as her lively sister step sister, Taffy. I liked their dynamic and how Taffy is always lifting up Lisa from her more secluded nature and gets her to come out of her shell more. The chemistry between them was really good and made for a lighter version of an almost "Heather's" situation. Joe Chrest was good and essentially a little more attentive version of his character from Stranger Things, Ted Wheeler. Carla Gugino was fantastic as always and as Lisa's stepmother Janet Swallows, she was very much the wicked stepmother from Cinderella. Now the real standout of the film and the most charming character was Cole Sprouse as The Creature. His beautifully tragic story was told expertly in the opening credits and he was a joy to watch once he comes back to life. The physical comedy and sometimes micro expressions he made were brilliantly executed and I loved every second he was on screen. The chemistry between him and Lisa was the heart of the film and even though not a word is spoken from him, his intentions are clear. The two of them together bring out the Edward Scissorhands love story aspect of the film and it felt like a gothic fever dream at times.
The score by Isabella Summers was good and serviceable, but I wish she leaned more into the horror a bit more which was also a problem with this film. For the majority of the film, I felt as if the film was really living its namesake. It was a greatest hits collection of all the best parts of the 80's horror comedies and early Tim Burton love stories that had so much heart, but this film failed many times to stay focused on those tropes. Where it was succeeding was when it would go down the implausible and fantastical fun of the love story, but it makes sharp turns away from it as things started to get more serious. The best way I could describe my feelings here is if you just look at the first trailer for this film. You get that exact macabre and comedic horror feel the film wanted to be. You get that, but it feels more watered down. Maybe if the film just focused on her coming out her shell and got rid of the stepsister and the other goth girl bully in the film, then maybe this would've been what that trailer promised. Also, I don't know if it was the theater I was in, but the sound mixing in this film was atrocious in the first 20 minutes of the film. The dialogue and score was turned down so low that I had to really focus on what was being said and I almost lost a god chunk of the story. Overall, this was a gothic rom com that had potential to be a new standout among the other same type of films we get each year, but I think it was bogged down by too many characters and the lack of expertise in the field. It could've been so much more. Let me know what you thought of the film or my review in the comments below. Thanks for reading!

Fangs
Author: Sarah Andersen
First published: 2020
Rating: ★★☆☆☆
I feel like I missed something since this book has such a high rating... I thought the idea was excellent and I liked the drawing style... but this is really just a collection of really lukewarm jokes.
The Fires of Lust: Sex in the Middle Ages
Author: Katherine Harvey
First published: 2021
Rating: ★★★★☆
After reading this book I was yet again amused at how little the ideas about sex have changed throughout the centuries. Perhaps because it worked the exact same way as it works now. In any case, this is a quite comprehensive study, that tackles its subject with much tact, a smile where one is due, and respect as well as sensitivity when discussing serious issues.
The Little Stranger
Author: Sarah Waters
First published: 2009
Rating: ★★★★☆
Reading Sarah Waters feels like gliding softly through a gentle stream of thoughts and feelings and even though her style is slow and thus her chapters are really lengthy, the book goes by surprisingly quickly. At first, I was a little disappointed because the "ghostly" aspect which had first attracted me to the story seemed to be just background noise to a family drama (though an intriguing one), but the second half of the book more than made up for that. in fact, there were moments when I had to opt for reading only during the day (but I am a scaredy cat so if you are a horror-lover, you might not feel the same).
Braiding Sweetgrass
Author: Robin Wall Kimmerer
First published: 2013
Rating: ★★★★☆
This is, in fact, an extremely sad book, because it shows us just a sliver of all the wisdom that has been lost as the Native Americans were driven from their land and systematically killed by European settlers. It points out our tragic and willful blindness to nature and the fact the exploitation of it will soon tip toward a complete catastrophe (if it has not already). But it is also a book that offers comfort, takes you into the woods and to the marshes, and shows you wild and wonderous things that are worth protecting. There were several instances where the beauty of the language and the message delivered drew tears into my eyes. I would not recommend reading the whole book all at once, but rather take it chapter by chapter when you need to relax and think.
The Murder of Mr. Wickham
Author: Claudia Gray
First published: 2022
Rating: ★★☆☆☆
If Agatha Christie decided to write Jane Austen fanfiction.... it would be so much better than this book. Easy to plow through, but frankly dull.
Pamela
Author: Samuel Richardson
First published: 1740
Rating: ★☆☆☆☆
I only managed to read this because I actually listened to it as an audiobook and I only managed to listen to it because Everand has cut me off from every single other book to listen to (if you know, you know). The story of the book is much more interesting than the book itself. The main character is a lowly maid who has made her virginity her entire personality as well as recording every single praise that is paid her, the main male is an entitled would-be-rapist and actual kidnapper who is not above hiding in closets and cross-dressing to get under Pamela´s petticoats. Had the book been taken more as a comedy and shorter by at least 300 pages, it might have fared better in my view. This is one classic you can skip and be happy about it.
Love, A Curious History
Author: Edward Brooke-Hitching
First published: 2023
Rating: ★★★★★
Of all the Brooke-Hitching´s books I have read so far, this one is absolutely my favourite. I just wished the text was larger.
The Arctic Fury
Author: Greer Macallister
First published: 2020
Rating: ★★★☆☆
This could have been so good. I mean: an all-female Arctic expedition? Female friendships and character arcs? The howling wilderness and nature shaping the human character? I was pretty hyped for all that. Unfortunately, all of the above is not explored as much as it could have been - and instead, the time and effort are given to a completely unnecessary trial. Reminded me of Where the Crawdads Sing in that sense. Generous three stars (for now).
I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings
Author: Maya Angelou
First published: 2011
Rating: ★★★★★
A portrait of a black childhood in the 30s and 40s south of the US, that is both engaging and educational. This is one of those books you fall into and distinctly feel are in it for the whole ride.
You Made a Fool of Death With Your Beauty
Author: Akwaeke Emezi
First published: 2022
Rating: ★★★☆☆
Interesting premise, but more soul-searching and relationship exploration over explicit and numerous sex scenes would have been more to my personal taste in what I like to read.
Terrible Tsarinas: Five Russian Women in Power
Author: Henri Troyat
First published: 1998
Rating: ★★★★☆
Easy and quick to read, even though the particular bit of history involved was truly messy, this is a book I would recommend as a bridge between the biographies of Peter the Great and Catherine the Great by R.K. Massie.
The Warm Hands of Ghosts
Author: Katherine Arden
First published: 2024
Rating: ★★★★☆
Katherine Arden has a unique gift of weaving together reality and myth (or in this case the supernatural) in a way that is very believable as well as lyrical. As if there was no question whether or not ghosts and apparitions were an indisputable part of our world. But the readers should be aware that The Warm Hands of Ghosts is, above all other things, a study and portrait of the terror of war, of what it does to those thrust into it, and poses a question if it is possible to ever go back. In this, it is far from being the only one or overtly original, but I appreciate the fact that many who would shy away from All Quiet on the Western Front or similar books might easily be attracted by it and learn something. I think the book may have been slightly more impactful had it been strictly divided into a Part 1 dedicated solely to Laura, up until the point of somebody significant coming to her in the hospital and only then introducing Part 2, in which we would learn about Freddie and his experiences, only then mingling the two. I read it in a mere 2 days, which also speaks to how much I felt entrenched in the story. I am giving it 4 stars right now, because of all the analyzing, but there is a great chance I will bump up the rating later in the year if the book proves to be one of those I keep thinking about despite their imperfections.

give me movie recs. NOW
I DONT LIKE MANY MOVIES BUT
-army of thieves/army of the dead if you like heists (first movie) or zombie heists (second). both of them feature the most autistic coded bisexual ever ludwig deiter. the 2nd movie is kind of cunty in the intro but the rest is pretty average for a zombie movie, if a bit more tragic at the end imo but the characters and vanderohe/dieter being fruity and also the hints of time loop in the movie make up for it. (also even tho im calling army of the dead the 2nd movie its technically the first release wise but army of thieves is a prequel. watch her first.)
-seed of chucky if you want horror comedy with transgenderism, murder as a bonding activity and jennifer tilly being really hot. no you don't need to see the other movies for this movie to fuck.
-missing for uhm. kidnapping and multiple twists and turns? idk this movie had me bamboozled i had to watch it twice to unserstand.
-a man called otto if you wanna cry and also laugh a bit but mostly cry. tw for suicide attempts.
-the dnd movie. more fun with friends (i watched in theaters with my dnd group) but still a good watch regardless. watch if you want silly chaos and found family elements.
-the road within if you want sad and funny. about teens in a behavioral program running away from the program together, tw for eating disorders and probably other stuff im forgetting, read the synopsis if ur worried. actually one of my favorite movies and it's on yt
-happily ever after (its the hbo ver of snow white from like 1989), is also on yt. i watched this movie constantly on vhs growing up and it's fucking insane but the songs go crazy hard and i think the fact that they made the prince just totally unrecognizable and not super helpful the entire movie is gold. my childhood lesbo brain was so happy to just watch a bunch of carpet munching dwarfelles act like carpet munching dwarfelles (or at least they did to me idk). yeah did i mention that the dwarves are actually just female cousins of the dwarves in this movie? moving on
-white chicks. im so fucking serious if you haven't seen this movie go watch right now. it's giving found family and also genderfluidity (lying) and also girl power and also fashion cunt and also a sick dance scene and also white women saying nigga. im obsessed with this movie.
#shit self#asks#quackitytheduck#delilah tag 🌻#top rec is the happily ever after movie bc its so fucking crazy#and idk anyone whos seen it

The Haunting of Sharon Tate (2019) directed by Daniel Farrands
age rating: 18+ genre: psychological thriller, horror duration: 1h 34m country: United States language: English screenplay: Daniel Farrands
major cast: Hilary Duff, Jonathan Bennett, Lydia Hearst, Pawel Szajda, Ryan Cargill
plot summary: actress Sharon Tate (Hilary Duff) experiences unsettling dreams and foreboding visions of her own death, while exploring a fictionalised twist on the infamous events of 1969 that led to her tragic fate.
if you enjoyed this post, don't forget to show some loves by leaving comments / likes / reblog / help me to spread the words. follow me for more reviews!! ❤︎❤︎
read my thought below (may contain spoiler):
cw: images of torture, blood, dead bodies
this movie gets so much hate, and I can understand why they hate it - it's about Sharon Tate's tragedy, and people seems to misunderstand this movie to be a biopic, or a documentary movie. let me apologise in advance if you disagree with what I'm about to say beyond this line. my thoughts on this movie starts here: I went into The Haunting of Sharon Tate bracing for a typical retelling of that horrific 1969 night, but surprisingly, it took a different path – a sort of “what if” alternative reality that caught me off guard. if you’re a fan of psychological thrillers with a twist of horror, this might actually be worth a try, though it’s definitely not a strict biopic. I mean, yes, it’s based on a real story, but the focus here isn’t so much on historical facts as it is on surreal signs, unsettling dreams, and the mysteries of fate. imagine a thriller built on “what ifs” and eerie visions, which takes a swing at giving viewers a peek into Sharon Tate’s possible psychological state rather than a blow-by-blow of the tragic events. and, yes, let’s talk about Hilary Duff. I know, I know – she got criticised, and even bagged herself a Razzie for this, but hey, I have to say, she’s not that bad! it’s like she’s genuinely trying to break out of her Lizzie McGuire teen and her other romance-comedy shadow, and honestly, I didn’t see any of her Disney or rom-com vibes here. she’s really pushing to give Sharon Tate her own life and personality – vulnerable, scared, yet oddly hopeful. it’s not Oscar-winning stuff, sure, but it’s refreshing to see her dive into such a dark role. plus, her attempt to distance herself from her familiar “girl next door” image is clear, and I think she deserves a bit of applause for that.
the film’s direction has taken a fair bit of flak, but here’s where I find it interesting: it plays on those “what ifs” in a bold way. instead of just re-enacting the tragic events of that night, Farrands leans into suspenseful fiction, turning the whole scenario on its head. I read a lot of reviews that say “killer being killed, and the victim surviving,” about this movie, but I'm confused - what are they talking about? I can bet that these people actually didn't wait to leave their seats at the cinema, because it definitely sound like they missed the plot twist at the end of the movie. overall, if you’re into horror or psychological thrillers, give it a shot – but remember, this is a reimagining, not a history lesson. don’t walk into this film expecting accuracy to the real events. it’s trying to evoke the emotions, fears, and maybe even unspoken hopes of Tate, and that’s where it makes its mark. it's one of those “not perfect, but not as bad as people say” kind of movies. sure, the acting won’t blow your mind, and yes, the storyline feels a bit out there, but if you’re in the mood for something that goes off the beaten path of biopics, it’s worth a try. just don’t go in comparing it to actual events. watch it for what it is – a spooky, speculative twist on a real tragedy. watch it with an open mind.

Hello there🌈
I hate ig rn and i was just wandering if tumblr could be better for my mental health.
Some random news. Sick AF, can’t properly walking.
I had a physical and a mental breakdown when my ex told me he was in a relationship as he continued to engage with me.
It was 7 months ago, i haven’t recovered yet.
I have panick attacks every time i saw his profile by mistake
Can’t believe he knew everything i had and still had the audacity to lie
He has some antisocial personality disorder and he s also… a beach
I disappeared from social media like lucy grey baird and i started playing ukulele and guitar again. You don’t know me.
I wrote several songs about how he was an actor and a liar✨
Everytime i post on social media like ig i feel sick cause i m scared he ll see and also he won’t see. So here I am. Cause i miss posting pic. There is some social media for photographers actually?
However i m into true crime and kinda horror but comedy tv shows. I used to be scared as hell but my life is so bad that horrors gave me some relief. Funny.
I watched scream queens. A true masterpiece. Love the chanels and hester as well💜💜💜
Chanel Oberlin is my spirit animal.
Such a good cast.
In these days i m currently into veronica mars and only murders in the building.
I watched the last season of umbrella academy. They butchered characters and plot so so sooo baaaad. I was furious. Five was like my favorite character. And they did dirt to robert character as well.
I enjoyed a goods girl guide to murder, both the tv show and the book
And i had an obsession with the hunger games spinoff, both the movie and the book.
I don’t have a new favorite song rn
Music makes me emotional.
I currently have my period
A random guy gave me something, like micosi and a not usual viral infection. And he had the audacity to disappear. Another one had cronic tonsillitis. This summer was a nightmare i swear I wouldn’t touch a single man. And the serious one… he constantly changed his tinder profile when he went to milan for work. And also he didn’t know bronchitis is contagious? Come on, they are all liars or they are all ignorant. I prefer to believe the first.
Breakfast is the only meal i enjoy.
Also i m feeling sick cause my friends gave zero faks about my 30th birthday.
I almost wish i gave birth to a son that will search me on that day, like in once upon a time
I don’t believe in friendship and I don’t believe in men and i don’t trust the government
Now i’m gonna eating my dinner, its almost 8 am.
Im a raging misandrist at this point
Wish everyone the best🩷
Also i was diagnosed with adhd and autism.

Wooden overcoats (comedy/drama) 9/10. So far
The monster hunters (comedy) 9/10. Slightly too long
Wolf 359 (drama/horror/sci-fi) 9/10
Tapes from beyond (drama/horror/found tape) 8/10. Unbelievably good for the budget they had. Falls off towards the end if I remember correctly
The vanishing act (comedy/drama/mystery) 10/10. No comments. Experience it for yourself
The lovecraft investigations (drama/horror/4th wall break) 9.5/10. We need more
We fix space junk (sci-fi/comedy) 6/10. I had a hard time paying attention
Last known position (horror/mystery) 8/10. Great immersion, but something was missing
Victoriocity (mystery/drama) 10/10. Incredible worldbuilding project
Down (mystery/drama/horror) haven't listened to enough of it to rate it, but good so far
Tides (drama(?)) 8/10. Hard to pin down. Not extremely exciting, but very interesting
Brimstone Valley mall (comedy) 10/10 except I don't think we'll be getting that second season, tragically
The underwood collection (horror/found tape) 6/10. Good attempt
King falls AM (mystery/drama/horror) 7/10. Hard to get through with the pacing, but worth it if you can
The beacon (drama/4th wall break) 7/10. Extremely good for an indie project
The two princes (drama/romance/adventure) 6.5/10. Not bad, but far too Disney for my tastes. Good art. I can't remember much else about it but I think I remember the characters being too petty and shallow to be likable
Malevolent (horror/drama) 5/10. Not the right perspective for me personally, but I'd be willing to give it another chance. Certainly an extremely interesting concept. The character is blind, so you experience everything from his point of view. Definitely listen to at least the first episode even if it's not your thing
Red Valley (mystery/drama) 7/10 so far. I need to hear more of this. Morior invictus fucking slapped
The chronicles of wildhollow: (drama/adventure) 3/10. Way too Disney for me. And too much narration in comparison to the amount of dialogue more like an audiobook than an audiodrama
The adventures of tintin (adventure/drama) 10/10. I admit There's a nostalgia factor and it's technically not a podcast as it was originally recorded for radio, but you can get it in podcast form and it's good shit
The goon show (comedy/drama) 6/10. Same thing as tintin. Not technically a podcast. The humour is also pretty dated, but it has its moments and some nice jazz breaks
Audiodramas I haven't heard (yet) but I'm told are good:
The dead letter office of somewhere, ohio
The liberty podcast
Don't mind
The call
