My headcannon on the sevens favourite movies, shows, videos etc lol >:)
Percy- The Little Mermaid- Jk LOL I think he'd be a real big fan of superhero stuff :3 I think he'd like young justice! Yupyup! Anything cool with a hero and fun battles and evil villans is his cup o tea (gee I wonder where I've heard that before...)
Annabeth- Archaeology, Geography, Anthropology deep dives, I'm thinking like MiniMinuteman videos (excellent channel btw) she is Def more of an audiobook girl then video or movie girl.
Piper- true crime documentaries, but specifically the ones that hyper analyze peoples movements and facial expressions.
Also a fan of Psychological horror movies the real unique ones!! Like Skinamarink and The Wolf House (HEAVY TRIGGER WARNING IF YOU WANT TO SEARCH THESE UP)
Leo- Shrek. He watched it as a joke at first but ended up falling in love with it.
Ever since he watched it he always gets Calypso to get matching costumes of Donkey and Dragon for Halloween.
Other then Shrek, he loves crack comedy(idk if thats the genre but it's something like that)
Jason- wholesome found family shows that always have a happy ending.
Funny because he didn't have one-
Also those long fantasy movie/book series. Like Narnia and Lord of the rings lol
Hazel- cheesy cute romance movies and Disney princess films (人 •͈ᴗ•͈) I bet her and Frank have watched Beauty And The Beast atleast a dozen times.
Frank- calming cooking videos. The aesthetic ones? If yk yk hehe. For movies he likes musicals!! And really likes movies with good music like Ratatouille and Spirited away! (He loves kitchen nightmares, British bake off and etc but he never tells anyone 💀)

Hello! I was wondering if you could do a small request? I was thinking of platonic Yandere Dick and batsib where batsib is getting harassed(hope I spelled it right) at school or online but can’t find Jason or the others so finally gives in and asks Dick for help on how to handle the situation?
A/N: Yes, ofc! Thank you for requesting. I was originally never going to post the og headcanon because i thought people wouldn't like a darker take on him. I'm so happy you guys do. its actually dick just cyber bullying you into coming to him loll
Warnings: concepts of online harrassment, but it's mainly fluff.
Requests: open 24/7
Masterlist
"Sweetie, don't cry. Tell your big brother what happened, okay?" Dick's voice cooed as he used his thumb to gently wipe away your tears.
This wasn't a position you imagine yourself to be in. You never figured you'd be coming to Dick for anything. Ever. Let alone comfort. For the past few months of being in Wayne's house, you've avoided your older brother like the plague. There wasn't any circumstance you wanted to be around him, you didn't particularly like him for your own reasons. Jason was the one you found the most comfort in. He made you feel safe and at ease unlike Dick.
But Jason wasn't here right now. He and the others were taking their shift on patrol and they wouldn't be back at least until the sun rose. Dick was the only one home and available to help with the situation at hand.

You had recently started up a social media account with much persuasion from your sibling, Barbra. It was just supposed to be something wholesome to better connect with the other siblings as it was a frequency they used. You weren't too fond of the whole thing, it was slightly anxiety inducing but you agreed to make them happy. They felt bad about sharing so many family photos without you being as they were all proud to show you off.
Unexpectedly, you kind of got into it. You started spending quite a few hours scrolling posts and sharing videos to your siblings, even deciding to make a few of your own...not thinking much of it.
It was great and all of the feedback was positive, mainly being from your sibling or school friends. It was a fun and rather safe escape for you to enjoy on your downtime.
That was until you finally decided to check your laptop after a few days away. To your surprise, lots of new notifications flooded your inbox. Maybe your post went viral or something, you excitedly thought to yourself.
The excitement quickly died down after reading through every comment and message you received during your hiatus. Copious amounts of vile content flooded your eyes. Most of them attacked your appearance or the fact you were 'just another pitiful orphan'. But nothing disturbed you like the dm you received that was filled with death threats and altered photos of you.
Mixed feelings of terror, anxiety and sadness overtook your body. You were never one to cry much but this, this did something to you. The only thing you wanted was to be held. Your safe space was ripped from you and turned into a heinous landfill, you felt so violated. You knew that person was only behind a screen but what if they were coming for you? What if it was an enemy of your family? You weren't nearly as trained or half as capable as your siblings and this person probably knew that. What if they're not around and that person captures you..
You didn't want to die. You didn't want to be their target….
~~~~~
You could sense the blood boiling beneath Grayson's skin as told him all that happened. For once in your life you seen his smile drop and his eyes growing dark., his sky blue eyes were nearly a deep black. He couldn't stop the fury from seeping into his vein as he thought about all the ways to get his revenge on the person who made you like this.
He never wanted to see his baby sister in this state, he didn't like that you couldn't enjoy yourself. He felt so guilty, this was his fault. He gave the green light to Babs about the social media thing when she brought it up to him. How could he be so stupid? Why didn't he think about the possibility of something like this?
It was supposed to be something to get you out of your shell and closer with them, not a breeding ground for degenerate fuckers like that.
He was silent for a while, entrapped in his own mind and anger before you tugged on his shirt.
"..Dick, please help me. I'm so scared. I really don't want to die. What am i going to do?" Your words were almost inaudible as you choked over them. The few lone tears turned into a heavy stream. You needed him to make this all go away. It was too much for you to handle alone.
Your plea for his help snapped him out of his thoughts. Dick's heart nearly crumbling at the cracks in your voice. He loved you so much and making sure you knew you were safe was the most important thing. The plotting could wait, there was plenty of time to take care of them. Softening his face, he flashed you his pretty smile, and took your hands in his.
"Do you think your older brother, Dick, would ever let them come through these doors and hurt you?"
You shook your head and rubbed at your puffy, red eyes.
"My sweet birdie. You have to know as long as i'm living, you'll be safe."
Dick hesitantly opened his arms out for a hug, not sure if you'd be willing to accept it this time. To his surprise, you did. Practically throwing yourself into his embrace, you wrapped you arms around his neck and sobbing in the crook of his neck.
You tightly held onto him as you nuzzled your head as deeper into it. Maybe you were wrong in your judgement of him?,,,or maybe it was the heat of the moment, but something about this was actually…nice. You never had a hug that felt as warm and protecting as this was now. There was just something so precious about the he handled you with so much care. It was as if you were made out of some kind of delicate material.
A feeling of regret rushed your body as you thought back to all the times you avoided and othered him. Was this what you were missing all those times?
You could've been getting love like this but you willingly rejected it all. Stupid.
"...I'm sorry,,,"
A curious hum left his voice as he wondered what you could be referring to. None of this was your fault nor was coming to him any sort of burden.
",,,for y'know.”
You could feel his head gently tilt to the side as he was still confused as to what you meant.
“I've been a bad sister to you, dick. I’m so sorry.” Your shaky voice was pitched high as you fought against your tears.
Shaking his head, he rubbed circles on your back.
Richard held his own breath for a moment, processing the words you just said. It was almost unbelievable to hear those words escaping from your mouth. Almost as unbelievable for you to finally be in his arms like this, at your most vulnerable. A fuzziness started in the depths of his stomach and exploded his body in bliss.
This was a long awaited feeling he so desperately had been craving. At that moment, all of his patience was worth it. All he ever wanted was to be your safety net, your best friend and he’s finally getting it. He wanted you to hug him like this forever. He wanted you to be safe right here in his arms. This was everything he could ask for.
Pay offs like this confirms he chose right in prioritizing his family over everything. His tendencies weren’t indeed crazy but necessary. He’s the backbone of the bats.
Dick’s muscular arms tightening in their embrace, gave you a nice squeeze.
"If you were a bad sister, i wouldn't love you as much as i do. The world doesn't deserve an angel like you, neither do i."
Dick breaks the hug and puts your hands in his once more. A soft kiss is planted on your forehead and there's a beat that passes as he's observing you. His smile is wider than ever. To him, you're the most perfect sibling he could ever ask for.
"I'll do whatever it takes, even bending a few rules, if that means you can sleep peacefully. I’m your nightwing."
Many thanks to @rewuyuu for the commission!
hello everyone do you have a moment to learn about Sampo and Jing Yuan friendship propaganda because IN THIS ESSAY I WILL--
(based on that one Jason Momoa meme, because this is so their energy)
Edit: said essay--
(obligatory these are just personal headcanons of a friend and mine other interpretations are valid)
-They both go :3 they are both some of the few characters that make that face and it is adorable.
-They both conceal their true deeper feelings behind teehee funny man/lax eepy personas [this is assuming the Funny Bone video is canon to Sampo. It was made for Hoyofair but Hoyoverse showcased it in the Live concert event so I consider that canon until Hoyoverse says otherwise]
-On the topic of that both had a tight-knit group of friends they hung out with when they were younger and were ride or die with. Unfortunately, this turned out to be die as all of their friends died (some of the HCQ are still alive but are either reincarnated or so changed/driven mad from Mara the version Jing Yuan knew had died) while Sampo and Jing Yuan were the only one out of their pals to survive.
-But both had to move on and continue to anyway, whether they wanted to or not
-Due to these things in common they would understand and relate to each other in a deep, meaningful way that few others in their lives could. There would be a certain level of liberty to their friendship because of it. They'd be able to release pent-up emotions and trauma as well as sympathize and empathize with each other. They'd be able to support each other and trust each other with the burdens of their pasts because of it. While not easy for these topics to come up initially, once they did they would find a safe space in each other for these topics. And from this would form a strong bond of trust.
-Not to mention Sampo would be a great way for master strategist ™️ Jing Yuan to keep tabs on what is happening throughout the galaxy in other places or gain valuable information for the Xianzhou Alliance. AND as Jing Yuan has expressed a lot his daily life is quite boring and loves to hear tales from the Astral Express's adventures he'd also love to hear all the wild antics Sampo gets up to because you KNOW Sampo has some wild tales to tell
-In happier news Sampo is very outwardly mischievous while Jing Yuan is also hella sneaky but in a different way usually. But when put together they bring out the utter gremlin in each other and are constantly messing with each other or having a prank war but it's all in good fun. It makes them both genuinely laugh a lot, breathing new life into their days.
-Also Mimi is either really affectionate with Sampo or bullying him (safely and gently) but it freaks Sampo out because she so beeeg. Jing Yuan finds it hilarious.
#honkai star rail#jing yuan#sampo koski#hsr#listen i am SO NORMAL ABOUT THEM#commissioned art#they would mess with each other a lot- but all in good fun and make each other laugh a ton#yet also trust each other with their lives and feel much more free to talk about things they feel they cant#with basically anyone else because of their own circumstances#also like. wowza they both had a tight group of friends that all died/essentially died when they were younger#and they were the only one out of them left standing and something about that just HITS ME#they can found a survivors guilt support group TwT
Anyway have some Leo and Esperanza thoughts set in a universe where she’s alive:
-Definitely knew Leo was bi before he told her. This kid is not able to be subtle about his crushes ever
-She was the first person Leo ever came out to. Just hugged him for ages and kissed his head and told him he’s perfect exactly how he is and she’s always going to love him no matter what
-They Iris message almost daily when Leo first gets to camp. He’s so excited when he makes his first friend and gets to introduce her to Piper. Leo and Piper met in this universe because they were the oldest out of the kids claimed right after the Titan war and arrived at camp at the same time and they just clicked immediately
-Let’s say in this universe Gaia doesn’t wake and Leo and Piper just sort of find an injured Jason on a mission by coincidence (make that “coincidence” because someone (Juno) decided it was time to mend the rift between camps and having CHB nurse one of the Camp Jupiter praetors then return him to his own camp unharmed was a good starting point)
-Jason stays at CHB for a while for diplomatic reasons and they properly become friends
-Esperanza definitely side-eyes Jason when he visits them for the first time because at first glance he gives off similar vibes to some of the football player kids who’ve bullied Leo before and she is Concerned but Jason withers so fast under her gaze that she ends up concerned for a completely different reason
-Jason scrambles to try and tell her all the reasons why he thinks Leo is the most incredible person ever actually and yeah it turns out she really likes this kid (though she’s starting to get increasingly worried about what his home life looks like if some light glaring has him this rattled)
-He loves her cooking (but not as much as Leo’s. He’d never tell her that though)
-She doesn’t push Jason to talk about his home life or family but makes it very clear that he’s free to stay over whenever he wants. Fundamental mom instinct to wrap that boy in a blanket and make him hot cocoa.
-Esperanza is Jason’s first encounter with an adult that’s genuinely kind and caring towards him and he’s really really shocked about it. Like worrying amounts. He needs her to like him or he Will Die actually, especially because that’s Leo’s mom
-Esperanza definitely picks up on the vibes between Jason and Leo before Jason and Leo do. This isn’t even her being especially perceptive they’re just incredibly obvious and also idiots (I say this with affection)
-One summer Leo Iris messages his mom randomly in the middle of the day beaming but will not tell her what’s up. For like fifteen minutes he’s just smiling and fidgeting away talking about a whole bunch of nothing at all until she grins and asks “did you finally ask Jason out” and Leo just looks at her gobsmacked because he has no idea how she could have possibly figured that one out
-Jason tries to learn Spanish in parts to impress her and he is So Bad At It at first. She thinks it’s really sweet and is very encouraging (unlike Leo who just makes fun of his boyfriend for his shit pronunciation)
#no idea where this AU just came from but I’ve had Esperanza related valgrace thoughts for a while and they inevitably needed to go somewhere#Like I know in my heart she’d adore Jason because he adores Leo#Anyway. Guess who got absolutely zero studying done again today#heroes of olympus#hoo#Valgrace#jason x leo#esperanza valdez#Leo Valdez#Lost trio#Jason Grace#Leo pjo#leo x jason
Moment of Weakness (2) / Aaron Hotchner
(He's so pretty)
Pairing: Aaron Hotchner x BAU!Reader
Summary: The aftermath to the incident in Hotch's office.
Warnings: Typical Criminal minds topics (bombings), rushed and not proofread. Not really a happy ending...
A/N: I wrote a part 2 since so many wonderful people asked. Not sure if I liked it and I got too carried away, oops!
(Read Part 1 Here)
After the incident in Hotch's office you weren't sure that you could face the man again. You felt like you only made his situation worse, which was never your intention.
You had just got caught up in the moment. You had had a crush on Hotch just after your third case with the team. It had taken a toll on you and Hotch offered to drive you home.
And when he parked outside, you just sat there, taking more of his time but he didn't care. He talked to you for what felt like ages, about the case, the team, Jack and Haley...and the crush steadily turned into a quiet pining.
You kept it to yourself of course. You never told anyone, and you obviously did a great job of hiding it because no one suspected a thing. Not even Hotch, which killed you but you'd never ruin a family like that.
You heard how he spoke of Haley and Jack that night over a year ago now and if anything, you were happy that he was happy. Until his confession in his office last night.
JJ pulls you out of your thoughts, "we've got a case. Two bombings in the last 24 hours. We're leaving in 10 minutes, we'll debrief on the jet."
You take the file from her and look it over before grabbing your go bag and heading for the jet.
You were the last but one on which made you frown, "where's Hotch?"
Rossi looked over to you, "personal day. He'll meet us there when he can."
You didn't hear much after that. Your thoughts racing with all sorts of possibilities and hoping none of it was because of you. The guilt sitting in your stomach like a stone.
By the time Hotch caught up to the team, you were all gathered in the precinct talking to Garcia.
Everyone paused the conversation to fill Hotch in. The thinking was a high school student getting revenge. There was at least one victim from every explosion linked to the same school. The others just got caught in the crossfire.
"If that's the case then we need to talk to the parents and close friends of the ones who died and see if anyone had a grudge against them", Hotch says.
"I'll go back to the Denvers and talk to them since I've only just left. They had a son die in the second explosion and the brother may know something. " You jump in straight after Hotch, eager to go back to the family you were trying to help through this.
He shakes his head, "no, you stay here with Reid and try and figure out where he might strike next. Prentiss and Morgan go to the Jason's. Rossi and I will go to the Denvers while JJ handles the media coverage."
Everyone springs into action but you step forward, "you're benching me?"
Hotch turns back to you sharply, "stay here and work the profile with Reid."
"I'm the one that should talk to the Denvers, I've already built rapport" your voice rising.
"Stay here at the station with Reid. That's an order." Hotch turns away and stalks out the office with everyone else giving you sympathetic looks on their way out.
You and Reid work the case. Rossi calls not long after they left saying the Denvers were on the way to a memorial service put on for families of the second explosion but they couldn't say whether anyone held a grudge against their son.
Then Morgan calls, "okay, Jessica Lambert said that Danny Denvers is the one that gets picked on the most at school."
You perk up, "wait, Danny? As in, Tommy Denvers brother who died in the explosion?"
"Yeah, and Jessica also said that Tommy would join in on the bullying so that he could fit in."
You look to Reid in horror, "I thought he was so withdrawn because his brother had just died, not because..."
Reid voices the conclusion you just came to, "Danny Denvers is our unsub."
You pull your phone out and dial Hotch on instinct.
"What?" He answers.
And you have to stop yourself from rolling your eyes, "the Denvers, you said they were going to a memorial service, was Danny going with them?"
"No, they said he wasn't feeling well. Why?"
"Danny Denvers is the unsub. He got bullied at school and even by his own brother, Tommy."
You hear the car spin around as Hotch says, "we'll go back to the house. Tell Morgan and Prentiss to head to the school. Stay at the station."
And he was gone before you could protest.
After telling Morgan where to go, you stare at the board in front of you.
Reid asks, "what's wrong?"
You shrug, "something doesn't feel right. If Danny wanted to blow up the school he could have just gone this morning. Instead he stayed back."
Reid scrunches his nose, "okay, so what's your point?"
You think back to your time at the Denver house and it clicks. You call Garcia, "hello Mr and Mrs Genius, how can I help you?"
"Garcia, the Denvers said they were going to a memorial service today. Can you tell me where it is?"
You hear the typing before she answers, "I just sent the address to your phone."
"Thanks", you say as you rush to grab car keys from the desk.
"Hotch said you had to stay at the station." Reid says, phone already in hand.
"I'm the closest and I'm not going to be benched because Hotch can't get his head out of his ass."
You race to the funeral home, stepping out of the car and scanning the area for any signs of the service amongst the gravestones.
Your phone vibrates in your pocket like its been doing the whole drive here. You answer to Hotch's booming voice, "do not go in without back up or bomb squad."
You shake your head despite him not being able to see, "bomb squad won't get here in time."
You keep scanning as he replies, "I mean it. Don't approach on your own. Danny profiles like a-"
You cut him off as your eyes land on the scene you were looking for, "a suicide bomber."
You see him with a crudely made vest and a trigger in hand as he screams at his parents.
You take off towards them, phone still to your ear as you say, "Hotch. I'm sorry." Hoping he can hear everything you really want to say.
You hang up and draw your gun as you dodge the people fleeing. You call out, "Danny! Remember me? Is it okay if we talk?"
"I don't want to talk to you. I want them to listen." His wild eyes looking to his parents.
"I know they never listened to you. I know they always put Tommy first, even when he was the one bullying you." You step closer to the Denvers, trying to draw his attention away from them.
Tears stream down his face, "I never did anything wrong! Tommy was the one going to parties and staying out past curfew and he was still the favourite!"
"So you decided to teach them all a lesson?"
He looks to you as sirens wail closer and closer, "well someone had to! No one was going to save me from them so I had to do it myself!"
You finally step in front of the Denvers blocking his view, "and I think you taught the lesson well. Now everyone knows."
You see Rossi and Hotch coming towards you as you gesture the Denvers to go towards them.
Danny watches his parents go with surprising calm as you say, "just give me the trigger so you can tell everyone your story."
With eyes still on his parents he mumbles, "they'll never get it."
You hear Hotch call your name as Danny takes his finger off the trigger.
You dive for cover, landing in the 6ft hole meant for the casket. You feel your body slam into the ground, losing consciousness before help arrives.
When you come to, it's mostly a blur. The hospital checked you over and after some arguing, they agreed to let you go as long as you got checked out back home.
The jet ride back was quiet and once it landed everyone went their separate ways. Except Hotch.
"I'd like to drive you home, if I may?" He asks.
You shake your head, "nah, I'm good. I can wait to hear the riot act on Monday."
Hotch places his hand on your forearm so gently you can barely feel it, "please?"
You stare at each other for a few moments until you finally agree.
Once you're on the road Hotch says, "what you did was reckless."
He says it with a soft voice which is somehow so much worse than if he just yelled at you.
You loved his voice, you loved the comfort he exudes even when he's angry but right now you wanted to be anywhere but here.
"Hotch, please..."
But he continues, "and while it was incredibly reckless, I have to say I owe you an apology."
Your mouth pops open as you turn to look at the man behind the wheel.
He sighs, "if I didn't have my head up my ass, I wouldn't have benched you and made you feel the need to run into danger on your own."
You feel heat rise to your cheeks, "you heard that, huh?"
Hotch shrugs, a small smile tugging at the corner of his mouth, "Reid had already dialled my number when you said it."
Silence descends again until he parks up outside your apartment.
"I'm also sorry for the things I've said."
You stare out the window when you reply, "when?"
Hotch parrots your question with more confusion, "when?"
"Which time? You've been a dick to me ever since that night. It took the both of us to make that mistake. And the funny thing is you're not even angry at me, you're angry at yourself and you're taking it out on me and I don't deserve that."
"You're right, you don't. You deserve so much more. I realised that I could have lost you and...I'm not sure I'm ready to look into why that's terrified me so much. And I know I don't have a right to ask this but I would like it if you waited."
You study his profile, not quite understanding what he's going through but wanting to all the same.
He looks to you and the vulnerability you see laid bare in his eyes takes your breath away, "Me and haley are going through a divorce and a part of me will always love her. Things will be messy for a while but I'd like to take you to dinner...maybe when things calm down, if you'll let me?"
You're not really sure what to say. You've wanted Aaron Hotchner to ask you out for a long time. You've wanted him for even longer. But this isn't how you imagined that would go.
You knew things would be complicated with Haley and you knew he'd always love her in some way and it didn't bother you. But the timing of it all made you feel more like a consolation prize than someone he truly wants.
You reach your palm out until it makes contact with his cheek, you thumb stroking the dark circles underneath his eyes.
"I've been in love with you for a long time, Aaron Hotchner. And all I've ever wanted is for you to be happy. And those two things have been in conflict ever since."
His eyes take on a glassy tint as his hand covers your one on his face. He understands what you're saying but you say it anyway.
"I don't think I'm what you need to make that happen right now. And I don't know if I'll ever be that or if I can wait that long for you to figure it out."
You give Hotch a sad smile, dropping your hand and exiting the car. Each step further away from him, makes your chest ache. And you wonder if you'll always carry that ache wherever you go.
A/n: I guess I'm feeling angsty lately but hope you enjoyed all the same!!
shoujo moments in my life with the robins
word count: 870
summary: anything is romanticizeable if you're delusional enough /j
𓅫. your crush cooking for you when you're sick - Jason Todd
Your head is splitting apart, and you think you're going to die. Sure, this happens every year thanks to your shitty immune system, but it's also NOT a fun experience. You might lose your life at this rate (you're being dramatic. you know.) but it does feel terrible. The door to your room creaks open slightly, and you manage to groan as a greeting. "You good? Heard you were sick." Jason speaks up, blinking at you owlishly. "Feel terrible." You mumble back. "Want anything?" "Sleep." You knock out immediately after. Jason, sweetheart Jason, sweet 11-year-old Jason, walks down the stairs at Wayne Manor and heads to the kitchen, asking Alfred for some fruit and tomatoes, cuts them up for you, sprinkling sugar on the tomatoes for you. Alfred looks, eyes fond as Jason takes the plate upstairs. You hear the door open again, voice scratchy as it comes out of your throat. "Who is it?" "I brought you fruit." "Leave it on the table, please." You mumble. "Thank you." "Of course." When you feel better a couple hours later, you bring it downstairs to share with Jason, a smile on your face, flush on your cheeks, warm with appreciation for the boy, all while Jason checks your temperature to make sure you're fine.
𓅫. a summer fling with a boy you'll never see again - Tim Drake
The summer sun burns into your skin while the breeze sends chills down your spine as you walk down from your cabin to the main tent. Your roommate reminds you of which team the two of you are on, and it's really unassuming. The camp is normal until it's not. It's normal until your fingers are brushing Tim's as your cramming to get the stupid car working, and it's normal until Tim has his hand on your shoulder, anxiety all over his face at the thought of not winning. It's normal until Tim steps next to you every chance he gets, his bias for you showing clearly in your group. You barely know him. Until a day ago, he was just some stranger to you. Then, he's one of the closest to you in the group. He's cheering for you when you're dying on the climb up, and he's next to you on the bus ride back. He's next to you when you're decoding a puzzle, and he's next to you at every chance he gets. But you'll never see him again. Even when the two of you are talking about the rest of summer's plans, you know you'll never see him again. He's too far away. But you cherish the last moments with him, tilting your head to bully him for not learning your name, knowing well that Tim does know your name. He called you on the second day, eyes digging into yours, something spiking through your chest. a mutual i like you hangs in the air, but that's the end of your story. You never get his number.
𓅫. getting your shoelaces tied by a boy in your class - Dick Grayson
You're young, eyes big and frustrated, and you've just made the change to actual laces instead of velcro. You're part of the cool kids club now— except you aren't. You have no idea how to tie your shoelaces. You step out of the girls bathroom, looking around for your bathroom buddy, noticing your laces have come untied. Dick tilts his head at you as you wince at your untied laces, and he drops down to reach for your laces. "What are you doing?!" "Tying your laces." Dick smiles up at you. "You can just teach me..." You trail off, frowning. "Yes, but we're in the middle of an activity in class right now, so we're in a hurry. Have madame send me with you next time and I can teach you." He smiles at you as he stands up. "Come on." True to his word, the next time the two of you leave for the bathroom, he sits you on one of the benches only the older kids were allowed to sit on and shows you how to tie your laces, grinning at you, missing a front tooth, waiting as you tie your laces over and over again, all the way until you could do it without questioning your ability. "thank... you." You mumble, cheeks red with embarrassment. "Of course." He grins.
𓅫. an ex-crush who liked you the most amongst the class - Damian Wayne
You're at a class reunion— or, something along the lines of that. You were called by a friend to take a photo together as a group, and you dragged another friend along, another old classmate of the same class, and the two of you wait in the lobby of the cafeteria. You hope you don't need to talk to Damian, your middle school crush on him was embarrassing enough on its own. Then, your friend arrives, and you rush over, missing the way Damian steps through the glass doors too. Your other friend follows behind you as you greet him, and in that moment, Damian walks past you, green eyes digging into yours, before he steps next to you, speaking to your friend too, light conversation before he turns his attention to you, tilting his head. "Heard you're going to the same college as me." "A-ah? yeah." You smile awkwardly, feeling the nerves from middle school crawl up your back again. You curse yourself for never getting the closure you needed. "What's your major?" You tilt your head. "Didn't I tell you?" "Did you? I must've forgot." He hums. "my apologies." Your major slips past your lips, and his does too, and your friend on the side perks up, mentioning that she was studying the same major as him. You tilt your head to look back a her before Damian ignores what she's said, going back to you— and your heart races, being favored so obviously in front of everyone else. and before you leave, he catches you, smile on his face, away from the rest of the class. "I'll see you in college?" "Y-yeah!" You smile. "See you then."
𓅫. putting on makeup for you - Steph Brown
"Stay still." Steph mumbles, hand on your face, tilting it so that she could get a better angle. You hold your breath as she does, closing your eyes as she brushes the eyeliner on. Your heart races in your chest as she pulls back, staring at both of your eyes, puffing out her cheeks. "Steph? You good?" "You look good. Too good. I need to jump you good." You bark out a laugh, throwing your head back as you laugh. "Alright. Lipstick next." Steph grins. "pucker up babes." "You want a kiss while we're at it?" You wiggle your brows. "Oh? I sure do." Steph winks, pressing the lipstick to your lips as she does, and she pulls back when she finishes. "There. Now your prom look is finished." "Do I look like I could pull?" "I'd fuck you right now." "I'M BEING VIOLATEDDDD!!!" You fake a shriek. Steph tilts her head as she looks at you, and she grins. You look really good.
Words: 9.8k Warnings: Bullying, cheerleader!reader, slight angst, sort of enemies to lovers, reader is a bully
Author’s Note: This is the longest fic I’ve ever written but I hope people enjoy it!
‘Oh my god, I’m so excited for tomorrow.’ Chrissy squealed hanging off your arm as you both walked out of cheer practice.
‘Yeah, I think you’re more excited than me.’ You laughed. Tomorrow was your 18th birthday which meant the day you got your soulmate tattoo. Everyone found out the first name of their soulmate on their 18th birthday and the tattoo would remain until you and your soulmate showed each other your tattoos, after that they would glow for a moment before vanishing and you would officially know who you were meant to spend the rest of your life with. You personally thought it was bullshit, how could the universe know that you were meant to be with? What if you hated your soulmate or fell in love with someone else? You didn’t like the idea that you weren’t responsible for your fate.
‘Maybe it’s Matthew, he turns 18 in a month so he doesn’t have it yet.’ Chrissy speculated as the two of you approached the car park.
‘God I hope not. Matthew is a dick.’ You grimaced. Matthew was one of the basketball guys that you regularly hung out with and you hated him. He was arrogant and felt entitled to whatever girl he wanted. You rather die than be stuck with him for the rest of your life. You waved Chrissy off as she ran over to Jason’s car as you walked towards your own. You dug through your purse looking for your keys until you felt yourself walk into someone, dropping your purse and the contents spilling all over the floor.
‘Oh my god, watch where you’re going.’ You snap looking up to see who walked into you. You saw a mop of messy brown hair and big round eyes and realised you’d walked into Eddie Munson, the leader of the Hellfire Club. You didn’t know much about him but from what you heard you knew you weren’t safe being alone with him right now. Obviously, you’d seen his tirades in the cafeteria and you felt like he was such a weirdo. You knelt down, trying to quickly shove all your stuff in your purse and get away. He didn’t say anything to you, just knelt down and helped you out. You hadn’t expected him to do that.
‘Umm, thanks.’ You said as you finished packing up your bag, grabbing your keys and holding them in your hand.
‘It’s alright.’ He nodded at you and walked away, heading towards his van. You watched him walked towards his van in confusion. He hadn’t been creepy or weird, he had barely spoken to you and had been kind enough to help you out. You also had to admit that close up he was kind of cute. I mean you’d never date him but you could appreciate a nice face. You shook off the weird feeling and walked towards your car, wanting to get home.
You woke up in the morning and sighed. Today was the day, the day you would find out which asshole you were meant to spend the rest of your life with. When you and Chrissy had spoken on the phone last night she’d tried to convince you to stay up til midnight and watch the tattoo appear but you’d not been interested. You were tired from cheer practice and knew today would be a tiring day of people asking you about your soulmate so you wanted your sleep. You had to admit even though you didn’t believe in this shit you were curious about who the universe had paired you up with. You took a deep breath and looked down at your wrist, reading the name printed in a clear text. Edward. Who the hell was Edward?
‘Let me see, let me see, let me see.’ Chrissy practically ran at you, nearly jumping up and down.
‘Okay calm down.’ You said holding out your wrist. She looked down at the name on your wrist and frowned.
‘I don’t know any Edwards.’ She pouted clearly disappointed that she couldn’t drag you over to the love of your life right that second.
‘Yeah, it’ll probably be some guy I go to college with or something.’ You shrug as you reach your locker and start grabbing the books for your current class.
‘Yeah, I guess. I was just really excited that you’d meet the love of your life today.’ You rolled your eyes. You thought it was cute that Chrissy believed in all this stuff but you were honestly not interested. You just wanted to go about your life, and not have it revolve around some guy.
‘Maybe it’s because you know who your soulmate is?’ You questioned. Even though Chrissy hadn’t had her 18th birthday, Jason had and his wrist very clearly read Chrissy so everyone knew the day she turned 18 the name Jason would appear. You knew for someone like Chrissy it would probably disappointing that she didn’t get the excitement of finding out her soulmate the day she turned 18 but at least she also loved the person she was meant to be spending her life with before. You meet this Edward and would have to develop a love for him while knowing he was your soulmate, and that just felt weird. You would go your whole life not knowing if your love was real or something you felt because you were supposed to.
‘Yeah, I mean it’s so exciting that yours is a mystery. Maybe he’s Italian or something.’ Chrissy said excitingly.
‘His name is Edward, pretty sure he’s not Italian.’ You laughed at that moment.
‘Well anyway, I haven’t got your gift with me. I’ll give it to you tomorrow before your party.’ Chrissy said, switching subjects. You were happy, you didn’t want to talk about your soulmate anymore. You were much more excited about your party. Your parents had decided to take a trip away so you were throwing a big birthday party where the majority of the senior year was invited and Chrissy was coming over early to help you set up and get ready together.
‘It better be good. Otherwise, I’m getting you dirt for your birthday.’ You joke. You knew Chrissy would get you a good gift, she always did. Just at that moment, the bell rang and you walked towards your class.
By the time lunch rolled around you were so done with this whole soulmate thing. It felt like every 30 seconds someone was asking you about who your soulmate was. You kept your answers vague, just saying that you didn’t know who it was and you probably hadn’t met him yet. Most people accepted that answer, knowing that you wouldn’t open up more but a couple had pushed for a name to which you just ignored them in order to avoid screaming at them.
You dropped your tray down on the table opposite Chrissy and Jason sighing as you did so. Chrissy looked up at you and saw your frustrated face and gave you a sympathetic look. It wasn’t that you didn’t like being at the centre of attention, you loved it, but you wanted it to be for any other reason than this.
‘So, Y/N, who’s the soulmate?’ Jason asked you as you started to pick at your food.
‘Don’t know, never met anyone with his name.’ You shrugged.
‘Oh my god, maybe you know. Do you know any Edwards?’ Chrissy asked excitedly turning to her boyfriend. The second she said the name Jason started laughing and you glared at him. You knew from his laughter that he knew something you didn’t.
‘What’s so funny?’ You asked. You could tell he was using the mocking laugh that he normally reserved for people below him on the social ladder and you didn’t like the way it was directed at you. Normally you would laugh along with him but you were on the same level as him so he shouldn’t be laughing at you. Hell, you were probably even more popular than him.
‘What do you think the freak’s first name is?’ He said between his laugh.
‘It’s Eddie, what’s your- oh my god.’ You said realising what he was implying. Eddie, short for Edward. He thought that the school’s resident devil worshipper was your soulmate.
‘No, there’s no way. I mean I can’t be with someone like that. It’s definitely a different Edward.’ You say shocked. I mean if this got out that there was even a chance your soulmate was him, your reputation would be ruined. And you definitely couldn’t date him, your life would be over.
‘I can go pin him down and pull up his sleeve if you want.’ Jason laughed, clearly thinking this whole thing is a joke. You glared at him.
‘No, because he’s not my soulmate. Besides even if he is this whole thing is stupid, I mean I’m definitely not meant to be with him. Look at him and look at me.’ You said pointing over at him where he sat with his friends. God they all looked like such losers, you could never be seen with him.
‘It could be cute, opposites attract and all.’ Chrissy shrugged. You love Chrissy but sometimes you hated how nice she was. She was kind to everyone regardless of social status and it bothered you cause it made you look like a bitch next to her.
‘No, it wouldn’t be cute, it would be like the world was ending. I mean ew. Just ew.’ You couldn’t imagine being stuck with someone like him. Even if he was your soulmate, doesn’t mean you had to be with him. You would never be with him.
You looked into the mirror and sighed straightening your dress one more time and making sure the necklace Chrissy had given you was straight. It was a friendship necklace and she had the matching one which you love. Sure it was kind of cheesy but it was very Chrissy to get the two of you necklaces so ‘you wouldn’t find a new best friend in college’ (her words not yours). You walked out of the room and knocked on the bathroom door to check on Chrissy.
‘You alright, Chris?’ You yelled through the door. You hear some shuffling about and then the door opened to Chrissy who was wiping her mouth. You didn’t know how to help her with this stuff so you just gave her a hug.
‘I’m okay, Y/N.’ She told you, hugging you back.
‘You sure? I can cancel tonight and we can put on our pyjamas and watch movies.’
‘No, no. Besides people are literally about to show up.’ She laughed and you nodded, grabbing her and walking downstairs. You heard the doorbell ring and opened the door to the first group of people who were the other cheerleaders and some of the basketball players including Jason. You greeted them all and led them through to the kitchen where they could grab drinks, grabbing one yourself.
More and more people arrived and soon the party was in full swing, music was blasting and people were socialising or dancing. You walked passed a couple who were making out and made a disgusted face as you headed outside, looking for some of your closer friends as Chrissy and Jason had ran off. As you reached your garden looking at all the people out there when you saw a familiar face hovering around.
‘What the hell is he doing here?’ You asked Patrick who was leaning against the wall of your house.
‘People wanted weed and he’s a dealer.’ Patrick shrugged. You stormed over and grabbed Eddie by the arm glaring at him.
‘You weren’t invited.’ You told him crossing your arms.
‘I was, someone called me asking for weed.’ He told you as if it wasn’t a big deal that he was at your house.
‘Well this is my house and my party and I didn’t invite you so leave.’ You said pointing for him to get away.
‘Fine, I’m going.’ He said starting to walk away. ‘God, I hope you aren’t my soulmate.’ He mumbled as he walked away. You almost missed it but you just heard it.
‘What did you just say?’ You said following him around to the side of your house and grabbing his arm, turning him around to look at him.
‘Why would I be your soulmate?’ You ask him as he scoffs at you.
‘Don’t worry, you definitely aren’t. You don’t have to worry about your reputation being ruined.’ You didn’t respond, instead, you just turned over his arm and pulled up his sleeve, seeing your name clearly written there. You gasped and held out your wrist with his name on it and both your tattoos started glowing and then disappeared completely. You stood there frozen in place as you looked down at your now blank arm completely in shock. Eddie didn’t say anything either, he seemed to be as shocked as you. Eventually, you reacted, running away from him back into your house and up the stairs to your room. There was a couple in your room but you kicked them out and sat down on your bed, placing your head in your hands. You felt tears fill your eyes and you reached into your tissue box and found it empty. You knew you kept some in your bag so you dug through it, and as you were looking through it your found something else. It was a chain bracelet that definitely wasn’t yours. It must’ve been Eddie’s and had fallen off when you’d bumped into him a few days ago. You crammed it back in your bag. You didn’t want to think about Eddie or soulmates or anything. You just wanted to curl up. You heard a knock at your door and groaned.
‘Go away!’ You yelled, not moving from your place on the floor. You heard the door open anyway and you turned round to yell at the person when you saw it was Chrissy.
‘Hey, someone said they saw you looking freaked out and I came to check on you.’ She said sitting down on the floor next to you.
‘I’m fine.’ You sighed, not looking over at her.
‘And that’s why you're sitting on your bedroom floor while there’s a party going on outside?’ She asked. You sighed and held out your arm. Chrissy looked confused before realising it was blank.
‘Oh my god, who is it? Are they cute?’ She said wrapping her arm around you.
‘It’s Munson.’ You said quietly. You didn’t want to say it but you had to tell her. She was your best friend.
‘Oh well, maybe it could work. You just need to get to know him. Be kind.’ She told you as you rested your head on her shoulder.
‘Absolutely not. You know I don’t believe in this soulmate stuff and there’s no way I’m spending the rest of my life with him.’ You shook your head, you just couldn’t imagine being with him forever.
‘You don’t need to be so negative. I’ve spoken to him before and he’s actually really nice.’ You sit up looking up at her shocked.
‘When have you ever spoken to him?’ You asked, looking confused.
‘Oh, you know just in classes and stuff.’ She said and you could tell she was lying.
‘Have you been buying drugs? Chrissy, you shouldn’t do that shit.’ You scolded her.
‘It’s only occasionally when things get too much.’ She admits tears welling in her eyes. You hugged her, rubbing her back.
‘You don’t need to do drugs, you can always come to me. You’re my best friend.’
‘I know I’m sorry. I just don’t want to bother you. You’ve got so much on your plate.’ She cries slightly as you comfort her.
‘You would never bother me.’ You tell her, being genuine. Chrissy was your best friend and you’d do anything for her.
‘Anyway? Do you think you could actually get to know Eddie for me?’ She smiles at you slightly and you roll your eyes.
‘Anything, except that. Now come on, let's fix up our makeup and head back out.’ You stand up off the floor and grab Chrissy’s hand, pulling her up.
On Monday morning you had resolved what you were going to do. You were going to confront Eddie and tell him there was no chance of the two of you ever getting together. You knew he was probably excited that his soulmate was someone popular like you but just because the universe had decided you were meant to be didn’t mean you were actually going to be with him.
First thing in the morning you made your way over to his locker where he was standing with those weird friends of his. You stormed straight up to him and didn’t even give him a chance to speak.
‘Meet me in your spot in the woods at lunch.’ You told him before storming off, not giving him a chance to respond.
At lunch you headed over to the woods, putting down your jacket on the bench where Eddie normally did his deals before sitting down, you didn’t want to ruin your cheer skirt, especially as you had practice this afternoon. It didn’t take long for Eddie to show up after you, gripping his lunchbox that you knew was filled with drugs.
‘So what do you want? Weed? Pills?’ He asked, sitting down in front of you and opening the lunchbox, looking through it.
‘You know that’s not why I’m here.’ You said with your arms crossed. He sighed and closed the lunchbox.
‘I haven’t told anyone if that’s what you’re wondering. Believe me, I’m as embarrassed as you are.’ He says his arms crossed over his torso. You look at him with a glare.
‘You’re embarrassed?’ You exclaim. ‘Your soulmate is one of the most popular girls in school, you have no reason to be embarrassed. I, however, do.’
‘You’re right, what reason would I have to be embarrassed by a soulmate who’s a mega-bitch?’ He shoots back.
‘I have a reason to be a bitch, my entire reputation is on the line!’ You yell. Did he not understand how important it was to you to keep your spot in the school?
‘Oh no, somebody might think you’re weird because you’re soulmates the school’s resident freak. How tragic. You know what maybe I should tell people. It might knock you down a peg or two.’ He shot you a mean grin and you looked at him, mouth agape.
‘You can’t do that, it’ll ruin my reputation.’ You looked at him wide-eyed. I mean you knew he hated you but this was just cruel. How could he think to ruin something so important to you?
‘Oh no, you might have to live a life where people think you’re a freak, how terrible.’ He fake pouted at you. ‘Actually yeah, I think I will start telling people. You can find out for once what it’s like to be on the receiving end of all your shit.’ He stands up and starts to walk away but you get up, grabbing his arm and turning him to face you.
‘You can’t do this, my reputation is all I have.’ You beg him. You didn’t want to have to beg for anything from Eddie ‘the freak’ Munson but you couldn’t have your reputation ruined.
‘Please, don’t kid yourself. You come from a rich family with happily married parents, and you can afford to go to some nice fancy college where you’ll make plenty of new friends and be on top in no time. You’ve got plenty of other things going for you.’ He scoffs back at you. You let out a laugh.
‘That just shows how little you know about me.’ You tell him. ‘You want to know the truth about me? Fine. I didn’t get into any college, none of the colleges I applied to even waitlisted me. It was just a straight-out rejection. I’ve told everyone that I’m going to NYU but in reality, I have no idea what I’m doing. So now I have no clue what I’m going to do with my life but I’ll probably end up working some shitty retail job for the rest of my life. And as far as my family goes well they fucking suck as well. My dad has a gambling addiction and our house is about to be reclaimed by the bank so soon I’m going to have nowhere to live and my parents' so-called happy marriage? Yeah, that’s bullshit too. I mean they’re meant to be soulmates but I’ve never met two people who hated each other more and rather than just getting a divorce and accepting that the universe is bullshit and doesn’t know how to pair up people, they play happy families while fucking other people. So yeah, my reputation is the only thing I have and in a few months, I’ll be one of those losers who peaked in high school and never did anything with their lives but until then I’d appreciate it if you could keep quiet.’ You breathed heavily as you finished your rant. You hadn’t told anyone, any of that, not even Chrissy, so you didn’t know why you told Eddie. You felt a pair of arms wrap around you and suddenly you realised that you had started crying while speaking. It felt weird to have someone like Eddie, someone who you didn’t even like comforting you but at the same time, it was nice.
‘I’m sorry.’ Eddie mumbled as you cried into his chest. You felt vulnerable for once in your life. The feeling scared you so you reacted in the only way you knew how. You pushed Eddie away from you and ran away, leaving him behind looking confused and shocked.
Avoiding Eddie should’ve been the easiest thing ever but it was like no matter where you looked there he was. Suddenly he was like a ghost who haunted you and no one else, around every corner, in every hallway. You just wanted him to vanish but he never would. You had stopped making fun of him and his friends since that day in the woods last week in hopes he would keep your secrets quiet, which so far he had, but god you wished he wasn’t here. Especially as every time, you saw him your pulse raced and you couldn’t help but stare at him. But it didn’t mean anything. If it did all it meant was that you hadn’t had a hookup in a while and he seemed like an easy option. You sighed as you turned into the hallway containing your locker to see him yet again heading towards you. He avoided making eye contact with you, instead just moving past you but you knew he noticed you and you noticed him.
You arrived at your locker and realised pretty quickly that everyone was staring at you and whispering. This was a pretty common occurrence for you but this felt weird like everyone was in on some secret except you. You just rolled your eyes and ignored it, pulling out your books and heading down the hallway where all your friends were standing.
‘Hey, guys. What’s up?’ You greeted the other members of the cheer squad and their boyfriends who stood there. They looked at you, giving you a look that you’d only ever seen directed at others. A look you had given a hundred times yourself. It was a look like you were dirt off the bottom of their shoes like you weren’t anyone worth interacting with. The only person who didn’t look at you that way was Chrissy who had a pitying look on her face.
‘Okay is someone going to tell me what the fuck is going on?’ You snap, crossing your arms over your chest.
‘What’s going on is we don’t talk to people like you and we certainly don’t cheer with people like me.’ Jessica, one of the girls on your cheer team, said.
‘What’s that supposed to mean?’ You glare, squaring up at her. You weren’t going to let someone who couldn’t even remember a simple cheer talk to you like that.
‘We know who your soulmate is and clearly, there’s only one way you could’ve ended up with someone like that. You’re a freak too.’ You felt the colour drain from your face. How the fuck had they found out? Who had told them?
‘You know I don’t believe in that soulmate bullshit so why does it even matter?’ You rolled your eyes, playing it like you weren’t totally freaking out on the inside.
‘I think you were the one who kicked Cindy off the cheer team when we found out her soulmate was Brian and believe me, Eddie is a million times worse than anyone else at this school.’
‘And who died and made you queen? Last I checked I was Captain and I was the one who pulled you out of the dirt. Before you met me you were some loser with acne and no hope of ever getting a boy to even look at you. I can easily put you back there.’ You spit back, venom flying off every word.
‘You were Captain. We took a vote, you’re being removed from the squad, effective immediately and Chrissy will be taking your place.’ Jessica looked at you with a smug smile as your eyes immediately flew to your best friends. She couldn’t even make eye contact with you, instead focusing intensely on her hands. You scoffed and shook your head.
‘Fine, I can do better than you bitches anyway.’ You stormed off and you knew exactly where you were going. To find Eddie Munson and kill him for telling everyone about the two of you. You heard a voice call your name as you walked away and you spun round to see Chrissy running towards you.
‘Don’t blame Eddie for telling everyone.’ She looked at you with pleading eyes.
‘Why not? He ruined my life, I’m going to ruin his.’ You said with a fire in your voice.
‘He didn’t tell anyone. It’s all my fault. I told Jason because I thought he would keep it secret but he told everyone else.’ Her eyes welled with tears as you spoke. You looked at her for a second with your mouth agape before you burst out with a cruel laugh.
‘Of course. It all makes sense now. You wanted what I had so you played the one card you had.’ You shook your head at her.
‘What? No, I would never do that.’ She looked at you, shocked that you would think that.
‘Oh please, save the innocent lamb act for someone who believes it. I know what you really are. And here, take this, give it to Jessica or whichever one of those bitches you actually care about.’ You reached behind your neck and undid the friendship necklace, Chrissy had given you, throwing it into her hand before walking away.
By the time lunch rolled around the whole school knew about your soulmate and how you’d been ousted from the cheer squad. There were constant whispers following you everywhere and now you didn’t have the protection of your reputation everyone who you’d spent the last few years making fun of had decided it was open season and you were prey. You finally understood how everyone you bullied felt and you felt incredibly guilty for the way you had treated people. You were just happy you had found an empty table to eat your lunch at and remained unbothered. You kept your head down, not focusing on anything around you and wishing that the bell would ring so you could go to class, at least there you wouldn’t be as vulnerable as you were right now.
‘Hey, bitch.’ A voice yelled from somewhere in the cafeteria. You ignored it. You knew it was probably directed at you but you hoped the person would just go away if you kept your head down.
‘I’m talking to you, bitch.’ Jason said from directly behind you, gripping the back of your head and pulling it up to meet his gaze. You felt tears well in your eyes as he held your hair tightly in his hand, nearly pulling it out of your scalp.
‘You made my girlfriend cry and I won’t let anyone get away with that, especially not a loser like you.’ You gasped in pain as he gripped your hair even tighter. How could so much have changed in a day? How could you be the one at the bottom instead of on top where you belonged?
‘Hey man, let go of her.’ Another voice said. You didn’t need to look to know who it was (although you couldn’t if you wanted to). It was Eddie. The hand gripping the back of your head let go, harshly pushing you forward as you let out gasps.
‘Aw, defending your soulmate, freak. How cute.’ Jason said mockingly, turning to face Eddie.
‘No, I just think men who put their hands on women are pieces of shit.’ Eddie said, his voice incredibly calm.
‘You fucking freak.’ You didn’t see what happened next, too busy recovering from your own ordeal, but you heard a bone-cracking crunch and a yell from behind you. You turned around, expecting to see Eddie clutching his nose but instead it was Jason kneeling over, blood dripping from his hands which were clutched around his face. You didn’t want to see what happened next so you quickly stood up and made your way out of the cafeteria.
The second you were outside the school you collapsed to your knees on the hard pavement, sobs overtaking your body. Your life had become hell in the space of a few hours.
You tried to breathe but it felt like no air was entering your lungs so instead you hyperventilated, panicking but not being about to do anything about it.
‘Hey, hey, it’s okay.’ You heard a voice say, feeling an arm wrap around your shoulder. ‘You’re having a panic attack. Come on, deep breath in, deep breath out.’ You tried to focus on breathing but it was as if every bodily function had shut down. It took a moment of whoever was there coaching you through your breaths but eventually you were breathing normally again, your heart rate slowly returning to its normal rhythm. You looked up and saw the person in front of you was Eddie, staring at you with a look of concern on his face.
‘Why are you being so nice to me?’ You speak your voice strained. You didn’t understand, you’d spent the last god knows how many years making his life hell? Why wouldn’t he just let the same happen to you? You would if you were him.
‘Because no one deserves to be treated the way you are currently.’ He sighed and stood up, holding out a hand to you. You took it and he helped pull you up off the floor. You wrapped your arms around yourself, shivering. You weren’t cold but it felt like your entire body had shut down and was now rebooting. Eddie shrugged off his jacket and wrapped it around your shoulder. As you wrapped it around yourself tightly. It smelt of a strong musky cologne that was clearly being used as an attempt to mask the smell of cigarette smoke but was failing miserably. You didn’t completely hate the smell, it was comforting in a way.
‘You don’t have to do this, you know? You could just leave me here. I would.’ For the first time in your life, you avoid making eye contact with someone, genuinely ashamed of yourself.
‘I’m not going to do that. It would be cruel. Now come on, I’ll drive you home. You’re in no state to go back inside.’ You nod and Eddie leads you over to his van, his hand hovering near the small of your back. You quickly climb in once you reach the van and Eddie climbs around the other side, pulling out of the parking lot. The drive is mostly silent except for you giving Eddie directions and the quiet music coming from his speakers. You don’t recognise the songs but you know it’s one of the metal bands he listens to. Surprisingly, you don’t completely hate it and find yourself tapping along to it, although you can’t tell if that’s out of nervousness or not.
Eventually, you pull up outside your house and you look over at Eddie who’s fiddling with the rings on his hands.
‘Thanks for the ride. I really appreciate it.’ You smile awkwardly at him, not sure what else to say.
‘It’s okay. Anytime.’ He shrugs. You fiddle with the door handle for a moment considering what to do.
‘Do you want to come in? I don’t want to be alone right now.’ You ask before your brain really registers what you’re saying.
‘Umm, you sure? Aren’t your parents home?’ He looks at you with a frown and you feel your cheeks growing red with embarrassment. Why did you invite him in? You should’ve just left. God, what if he thinks you’re inviting him in for sex.
‘My dad’s at work and my mom has aerobics class all afternoon.’ You shrug. The last part was a lie. Your mom was next door, screwing the neighbour but you’d already told Eddie too much about your mess of a family. He didn’t need to know more. ‘You don’t have to come in. I’ll be fine.’
‘No, I’ll come in. I wouldn’t want you to be alone.’ You nod and climb out of the car, pulling your house keys out of your bag and heading towards the door, Eddie following closely behind you. You open the door and lead Eddie upstairs into your room. You both stand there awkwardly, waiting for the other one to make a move.
‘I’m going to change out of this.’ You eventually say, heading over to your wardrobe and grabbing a pair of sweats and a random t-shirt before heading into your en-suite. The second you look in the mirror you realise just how terrible you look right now. Your makeup is all streaked down your face and your skin is all blotchy. You quickly change your outfit and clean your face. You consider for a moment reapplying your makeup but decide against it and head out of the bathroom to see Eddie sitting in your desk chair. You make your way over to your bed, curling up underneath the covers.
‘I’m never moving from here.’ You inform Eddie as you make yourself comfortable.
‘Don’t be ridiculous. You’re going to go to school tomorrow and you’re going to use your evil powers for good and let them know you can’t be fucked with.’ You let out a snort at his words.
‘But what if I’m too far gone and I’m just too obsessed with power? Like Smeagol.’ Your eyes widened as you finish the sentence. You did not just let slip that you had read Lord of the Rings.
‘Y/N Y/L/N, are you secretly a nerd?’ Eddie narrows his eyes at you and your cheeks flush under his gaze.
‘No, of course not. We had to read it for English class.’ You lie.
‘No, we didn’t I’d remember that.’ He informs you and you let out a sigh.
‘Fine, maybe in Middle School before I became cool, I liked fantasy.’ You admit, rolling your eyes. ‘But I haven’t been into that stuff since I was a kid.’
‘That’s weird. I don’t remember you in Middle School. I feel like you just showed up on the first day of High School.’
‘Yeah, that’s by design. Over summer, I went through a complete transformation. Changed my hair, started wearing contacts, changed my wardrobe, and took gymnastic lessons so I could join Cheer. I couldn’t handle another year of being the loser who played the violin.’ You told him, thinking back to how painful that summer had actually been. You had given up everything you loved in order to make sure you’d be in with the popular crowd.
‘Oh my god! I do remember you. You were a really good violin player, like could’ve joined a professional orchestra good. I can’t believe you gave that up.’ He exclaimed. He couldn’t believe that you were the same person. You really had gone through a transformation.
‘Wanna know a secret? I never gave it up. Still play when no one’s around. Even teach some kids for extra cash.’ You shrug as if it wasn’t a big deal.
‘Wow, that’s amazing.’ Eddie looks at you with wide eyes, slowly realising that you weren’t the girl he thought you were. You had layers that ran deeper than he thought.
‘Yeah. That’s why I didn’t get into any colleges. They were all music schools and I guess compared to someone who’s spent their entire High School career focusing on music, I’m not that good. I actually did get into community college but I just don’t know if I want to go.’ You admit the full truth of your college situation. You had lied earlier but the truth would’ve involved admitting your love for music.
‘Well, screw those schools. I bet I wouldn’t get in and I’m the best guitarist I know.’ You let out a genuine laugh. You couldn’t believe how comfortable you were around Eddie. You had spent years hiding who you were and pretending to be someone else and now you were here with someone who you never expected to be around, with no fake persona, just being you.
‘Thanks, Eddie. I can’t believe I’m actually going to say this but it’s been nice to spend time with you.’ You both grinned genuine smiles at each other. You couldn’t believe it. You had forgotten in the past few years that there we actually kind people out there, that your friends weren’t just out to stab you in the back at the first opportunity. It felt nice to be around someone who seemed to genuinely care.
‘Yeah, I can’t believe it either but I also had a good time.’ Eddie rubs the back of his neck. You couldn’t believe how lucky you’d gotten with your soulmate. Your eyes widened at your thought. You absolutely were not thinking about Eddie in a romantic way. Clearly, your brain was all confused cause usually when guys were nice to you they just wanted to sleep with you so it was some sort of psychological thing.
‘You look like you’ve just realised that the person you’re hanging out with is Hawkins resident ‘Satan worshipper’.’ He puts air quotes around the last words and you shake your head.
‘Nah, nothing like that. Just, nothing.’ You trail off unsure what to say. What sort of effect did this boy have on you? It was like he was some sort of devil, seducing you into telling him all your secrets and becoming a complete idiot around him. You stare at him. His arms we exposed as he had given you his jacket and you were shocked to see they were actually quite muscular. You were fascinated by his tattoos and rings, he was unlike anyone else you’d ever seen.
‘Why are you staring at me like that?’ He asks cautiously as if you’re observing him throw an insult at him.
‘Can I see your tattoos?’ You ask without thinking. Eddie nods and scoots your desk chair closer to the bed, holding out his arms to you. You turn them slowly in your hands, tracing the ink slowly with your fingers. Eddie’s breath hitched in his throat, his heart racing. He couldn’t help it, he had always thought you were pretty, even if your attitude had been horrific and now it was like within the space of a few hours you’d become a completely different person. And even though he knew you viewed the changes in your life as bad, he thought they were maybe good for you.
‘Did they hurt?’ You ask as you trace them, before moving your hands down to his own to examine the rings on his fingers.
‘Yeah, but it isn’t too bad. More of a dull ache than anything.’ He shrugs, trying to not focus on the fact that you were basically holding his hands. You glance up, looking him directly in the eyes and he was pretty sure his heart was about to jump into his throat. He swallowed as you looked at him, looking completely different from the mean cheerleader he’d known before. Your own heart was pounding in your chest as you stared deeply into his beautiful brown eyes. How had you never noticed how perfect his eyes were before now? They drew you in like he was a siren singing a beautiful song.
You don’t know who lent in first but the next thing you know your lips are pressed together in a passionate kiss. Eddie removes one of his hands from yours, wrapping it tightly in your hair as if he’s trying to hold you as close as possible. You rest your free hand on his leg feeling his skin through the rip in his jean. You couldn’t believe how amazing he was at kissing. You know understood what people meant when they said kissing your soulmate was different. It was like his lips were made for yours.
Eventually, you pulled away, resting your forehead against Eddie’s as you both kept your eyes closed. You were worried if you opened your eyes, you’d be awake from whatever had happened. That it would all be a dream and you wouldn’t have just had your complete world turned upside down. Or even worse, reality would set in and Eddie would remember that you were the person who had spent the last four years making everyone around your lives hell.
‘Wow, am I that bad a kisser?’ Eddie laughed, moving his hand from the back of your head and wiping away tears you didn’t know had fallen.
‘No, the opposite. I just don’t understand how you can kiss me like that and not think of all the horrible things I’ve done.’ You sob out. It was as if four years of guilt you’d been suppressing were pilling on all at once. You had hidden the guilt deep down inside you but it had always been there and like a storm brewing, it all came at once.
‘Hey.’ Eddie said wrapping his arms around you. ‘I’m not going to tell you it’s okay or pretend that everyone is going to forgive you because they’re not. But I am going to say that I can already see a change in you and I think it’s a good change and I’m personally excited to meet the new and improved Y/N who cares about the others around her.’ You smile slightly at his words. You’d never had someone believe that you could be anything other than what you were. It was nice to have someone who believed that you could actually make a positive improvement and that something other than popularity matters.
‘You’re too good, Eddie Munson.’ You murmured into his shoulder. It was true. You’d always thought he would be a terrible person who didn’t care about anything but he was kind-hearted and cared about others. He was the complete opposite of everything you’d believed him to be.
‘I’m not. I think any normal person would do what I’m doing.’ He rubbed your shoulder and you pulled your head up to look at him, grinning slightly as you did so.
‘So you think any normal person would kiss me like that?’ You tease, pulling up your hand to wrap a strand of his hair around your finger.
‘Oh, I think they’d want to. I mean they’d have to be insane to not view you as a goddess.’ He smiles at you.
‘Smooth. I’ve never heard that line before.’ You grin at him. He shakes his head.
‘Not a line just telling you the truth.’ He shrugs, leaning in and kissing you again in the most amazing kiss you’ve experienced.
It felt weird heading into school without your cheer uniform on. It was the first time since Freshman year that you hadn’t worn in but no matter how uncomfortable you held your head and jumped out of Eddie’s van ignoring all the stares and whispers. Eddie had ended up staying with you for hours, just talking and kissing, eventually, he headed back to his own place but he had offered you a ride to school as you had left your car there the night before.
As you walked into school you headed straight over to the group of cheerleaders and jocks who stood talking, your cheer uniform in hand. Eddie was following close behind you but he was keeping his distance, letting you deal with it yourself. They looked over at you and laughed but you kept heading in their direction, not letting up.
‘I just thought I’d return my uniform. Unfortunately, it got a bit destroyed.’ You hand the cheer uniform over to Chrissy who holds up the tattered pieces. After Eddie had left you had decided to pick up your uniform off the bathroom floor and took a pair of scissors to it. Slightly petty but you could’ve easily done worse.
‘What the fuck did you do? That’s school property.’ Jessica screeched, grabbing the uniform from Chrissy’s hands.
‘As if you give a shit. Or were you thinking of giving it to whatever poor loser you find to replace me? Maybe you can give them yours considering you can’t even stay on beat.’ You reply, looking at Jessica with fire in your eyes.
‘I think you’ve forgotten. You’re a loser now. I’m planning to make your life hell already, don’t make it worse for yourself. Or your freak boyfriend.’ She snaps back. You sigh and turn towards Kyle, her boyfriend.
‘Kyle, you remember when Jessica disappeared during your birthday party last year? She was screwing Tom, yes the Tom you call your best friend.’ Jessica’s mouth falls open as Kyle turns to Tom pushing him against the locker. Holding his fist up.
‘Boys, stop.’ You say clicking your fingers, and they both turn to face you. ‘You can beat the shit out of each other in a second but first, you’re all going to understand this. I have dirt on every single person here. If you make my life, Eddie’s life, hell anyone in this whole school’s life hell and I’ll start dropping secrets like bombs. And believe me, there’s some stuff you never want out there, especially if I decide that the Hawkins PD would be more interested than just High Schoolers.’ You have your arms crossed over your chest as they all stare at you, fear in their eyes. You turn on your heel and walk away, reaching Eddie who is standing a few feet away.
‘Okay, I’m officially scared of you.’ He laughs and you smile back at him.
‘I’m pretty sure you’re the one who told me to use my evil powers for good.’ You smile and wrap your arms around his neck. ‘And just to make sure they know where I stand.’ You lean forward and kiss him hard. Eddie was shocked for a moment but he kissed you back, his hands gripping your waist hard.
‘I think I got confused between scared and turned on.’ Eddie says making you laugh.
‘Don’t get any ideas. At least not until we’re out of school. I’ll see you at lunch.’ You lean up and give him one more kiss before walking to your first-period class.
You hold your lunch tray in your hand and make your way over to Eddie’s table, sitting in the empty seat to his right. Eddie’s friends all stare at you with wide eyes but you don’t react. You understood why they’d be terrified of you, especially with the way you’ve acted towards them in the last few years.
‘So you’re really Eddie’s soulmate then?’ His friend with shaggy brown hair asked and you shrugged.
‘I guess so. I’m not complaining though.’ You smile at Eddie.
‘You don’t care that your entire life basically has just fallen apart?’ His friend asked and you flinched slightly at his words.
‘I wouldn’t say my entire life has fallen apart. I’m just starting a new chapter in my life. One where I’m not a massive bitch, at least to people who don’t deserve it.’ You hope they believe your words. You really were trying to make a difference in yourself. You were going to become a better person, stop hurting others and focus on yourself, not just your reputation.
‘So are you going to play DnD with us?’ One of the younger members of his group with us and Eddie lets out a snort.
‘I don’t think that’s happening.’ Eddie laughs and you look over at him with a glare.
‘Why not? I bet I’d be great at it.’
‘It’s a really complicated game, it’s completely different from anything you’ve ever played.’
‘Oh, so you think I can’t learn. I’m going to prove you so wrong. I bet I can figure it out with any help from you.’ You were pretty defiant now, you didn’t like being told you couldn’t do something. You kept a playfulness in your tone, making sure Eddie knew you weren’t being a bitch and were just joking with him.
‘Fine, I’ll lend you my books.’ He sighs.
‘Oh good, you’ve already learnt not to defy me.’ You grin at him.
‘Believe me, if I hadn’t. I definitely would’ve this morning.’
‘I thought you said-‘
‘Y/N can we talk?’ You were cut off by a voice saying and you turned to see Chrissy standing near you.
‘Fine.’ You sigh, standing up and nodding your head for Chrissy to follow you to the edge of the cafeteria. You turn to face her with your arms crossed and she looks at you with big eyes.
‘Y/N I’m so sorry. I never should’ve told Jason who your soulmate was.’ She says with a genuine tone in her voice but you’re keeping your guard up, not trusting her.
‘Come on. You know I’d expected any of the other girls to stab me in the back but not you. I mean that hurt more than anything else.’ You frown at Chrissy who looks like she’s trying not to cry.
‘I turned down the head cheerleader position. I told them that the only person who deserves that position is you and that you were the only captain I’d support.’
‘Well, I appreciate that Chris but that doesn’t change the fact that you didn’t stand up for me at first. I’ve done so terrible things but you’re my best friend and I would’ve stood by you no matter what. If anyone had said half the shit they said about me about you, I’ve put them in the place.’ You told her the real reason you were angry at her. It was nothing to do with cheerleading but with her not being there by your side when you needed it the most. It was good that she stood up for you now, but yesterday was the worst day for you and you needed her by your side.
‘I know but I’m not like you. I mean what you did today I could never have done that. You’ve always been the brave one of the two of us and that’s what I’ve always admired you for.’ By now Chrissy has tears falling from her eyes and it did tug at your heartstrings. Despite how you felt you couldn’t just turn off feeling like she’s your best friend.
‘Look, Chris, I understand if you don’t want to be my friend anymore. I wouldn’t want you to be ostracised because of me. But-‘
‘No, I want to be your friend. You’re my best friend and that’s more important to me than anything.’ She begged you.
‘Okay, well it’s going to take a while for me to forgive you, but I will eventually. I don’t think I could go without you in my life.’ She smiles and wraps her arms around you, squealing excitedly.
‘I promise, I’m going to be the best friend you’ve ever had.’ She tells you, practically beaming. ‘So can I come over and meet Eddie you know, now he’s your boyfriend?’
‘I wouldn’t say he’s my boyfriend yet but sure come on over.’ You lead Chrissy over to the table and Eddie’s friends looked even more terrified, probably from the fact that two cheerleaders were now at their table (well technically a cheerleader and ex-cheerleader).
‘So this is Chrissy, she’s my best friend.’ You point to her as she waves slightly at them.
‘You two made up then?’ Eddie asks and you nod.
‘Yeah, mostly.’ You tell him and he reaches over and squeezes your hand slightly. Maybe your life was different now but different didn’t have to mean bad.
Six Months Later
You finished stirring the coffee in front of you and headed through to the bedroom, placing it on the bedside table and sitting on the edge of the bed.
‘Eddie, babe, wake up.’ You shake him slightly and he groans, turning over and pulling the covers over his head. You had moved in with Eddie after your parents had lost their house, a few months ago and now you had a pretty well-established routine in the morning. You were attending classes at a local community college and Eddie was working as a mechanic. You also worked in the evenings in order to help out with bills and food, etc.
‘Ed, come on. You have to go to work and I need a ride to the train station. Plus, I’ve made you coffee.’ You bribe him and he peaks out from under the covers, his eyes half open.
‘Did you say coffee?’ He asked, his voice still husky from sleep. You nod and he sits up grabs the coffee from the bedside table and takes a sip. ‘Mmm, you’re an angel.’ You grin at his words, not that he didn’t regularly inform you how amazing you were. In fact, Eddie was the sweetest boyfriend you’d ever had. He was so kind and lovely.
‘Yeah and you need to get up, otherwise you’re going to be late to work.’ Eddie let out a groan.
‘Why? Can’t I just sleep in?’ You roll your eyes and stand up, grabbing Eddie’s brush and heading back over to Eddie, sweeping his hair so it was clean and pulling it into a bun at the nape of his neck.
‘There we go, that’s one less thing you have to do.’ You told him, giving him a kiss on his cheek.
‘Have I ever told you I love you?’ He smiles up at you as he throws off the covers and stands up, grabbing his clothes off the floor and stripping off his pyjamas before changing into his work clothes.
‘Is that my Metallica shirt?’ Eddie said squinting at the top you were wearing.
‘No, it’s mine.’ You frown as if you have no idea what he was talking about.
‘Really? You went to Metallica’s 1984 tour?’ He smirks at you grabbing the belt loops on your jeans and pulling you in close to him.
‘Yeah, I’m a big fan.’ You nod. It wasn’t technically a lie, you liked Metallica now, mainly cause Eddie played their music all the time.
‘And what songs did they play on this tour?’ He raises an eyebrow at you.
‘Master of Puppets, duh.’ You roll your eyes as if it’s obvious.
‘That song didn’t come out until 1986 but good try babe.’ He says leaning in to give you a kiss. ‘Lucky you look good in my clothes.’ He smiles at you.
‘I look good at anything.’ You scoff and head into the kitchen with Eddie following closely behind you.
‘Here’s lunch for you.’ You say handing him one of the sandwiches on the counter and shoving the other one into your back. ‘There’s food in the fridge for Wayne so I think we’re good to go.’ You swing your back over your shoulder and head out with Eddie.
You leaned at the counter at work, bored out of your mind. You had hardly any customers come in during your shift and you were thankful there were only 10 minutes left until Eddie came to pick you up. You heard the bell over the door ring and you looked up, happy to finally have a customer but you let out a loud squeal when you saw the person coming through the door was Chrissy.
‘Oh my god, I thought you weren’t coming until tomorrow.’ You came out from behind the counter and gave her a big hug as she laughed hugging you back. You knew Chrissy was coming back to spend Thanksgiving with you, Eddie and Wayne but you didn’t expect her this early.
‘Yeah me and Eddie decided to surprise you by having me come back early because I’ve missed you so much.’ She pulls away from you, her friendship necklace dangling from her neck. You had taken back your matching one and it sat pride of place around your neck, alongside one of Eddie’s rings.
‘Aw, I’ve missed you too. Just let me close up here and then you can tell me everything including if you’ve met Mark yet.’ You say heading back behind the counter to start sorting everything out. In a shocking twist of fate, Chrissy’s soulmate hadn’t ended up being Jason but instead someone named Mark. Jason had of course been pissed, especially as his soulmate tattoo said, Chrissy. Chrissy had admitted to you that she’d felt relief that Jason wasn’t her soulmate and you had to admit you felt the same for your best friend.
You finished closing up and headed out to where Eddie was parked, smiling when he saw how excited you were.
‘How the hell did you keep that secret?’ You say climbing into the front seat as Chrissy climbed in the back.
‘I knew it was a good secret and it would make you happy, that’s how.’ He grinned over at you and you shook your head, leaning over and giving him a kiss.
‘Aww, it’s not fair how cute you guys are.’ Chrissy pouts and you laugh.
‘Don’t worry, it won’t be long until you meet your soulmate, I guarantee it.’ You smile at her.
‘And you were the one of us that always talked about how bullshit soulmates were.’ Chrissy smiled triumphantly as you rolled your eyes.
‘Well that was before I met my soulmate, now I understand it.’ You grin over at Eddie, before turning back to your best friend, thinking about how good your life was at that current moment.
HoTD moots I'm sorry again. This isn't my last pjo rant.
I'm continuing the deep dive into the Did Leo Bully Frank allegations, moving into House of Hades, where things get a bit more murky.
I'm not going to fully recap MoA read my other insane nerdy rant, but basically. Last we left them, Frank had disliked Leo, been antagonistic towards Leo, Leo was nervous around him and teased him a few times, they finally talk and become friends. But, everything is kicking off on a sour note. No one is happy.
Right at the beginning of HoH, we don't actually get much interactions between Leo and Frank until these scenes.
I'd like to note here that Leo's birthday is July 7th. so that's fun. He's not feeling too great about all the ghost talk. I didn't include it, but there's a scene of Hazel talking about Leo being angrier and more serious early on as well. Leo is thinking about loss and death quite a lot in this novel.
Then we get to Frank's pov and Boy Is It Different.
First, I'll also point out Frank remembers the whole his clothes getting sent out and destroyed on Buford but very clearly doesn't characterize it as Leo 'throwing his clothes overboard'. Even in the state Frank is in, he knows Leo didn't purposely destroy his clothes.
But Frank still has issues.
You can note that Frank actually starts off this thought process by essentially complementing Leo, but then Mars and Ares pop in - suddenly, Frank is now saying how Leo constantly teased him.
This is one of those things I think people are going to interpret differently depending on your bias. I have a Leo bias, and having shown that Leo was NOT constantly teasing him in MoA, at least from what is written, I think this is mostly influence from Mars/Ares. Leo does tease, he teases Jason in this book I think more than he does Frank, so I wouldn't ever say Leo doesn't tease people, he absolutely can be a little shit; but the difference is that it's rarely maliciously done on Leo's part. When Leo noticed Frank was embarrassed at the end of the last book, he stopped himself from making comments. We've also seen that Leo is also not great at realizing if his comments are being taken negatively, even if he doesn't mean them in that manner.
However, like I said, Hazel noted Leo's been stressed, not sleeping, and angrier than usual at the beginning of HoH. Leo blames himself for what happened to Annabeth and Percy. Leo is starting to think he'll probably die, and he's horribly lonely. Maybe he has been razzing Frank more offpage, and we just don't see it written. But because we do not see Leo explicitly dig at Frank's weight or looks or intelligence, I am personally still more of the opinion that it's the product of Mars/Ares.
We then get this scene
Frank says Leo had stopped making jokes at his expense here, but again, not trying to beat a dead horse at this point, we've not really seen Leo do that at all this book. Frank now has more confidence and feels more worthwhile in his place on the Argo after his Venice battle- I think Frank is now less insecure and those voices are piping in less. Again, I could be wrong, but this seems very similar to last book. Frank spent the majority of the book being very antagonist, then wonders why on earth Leo would be nervous around him. There's things clouding Frank's judgement that clear up, and suddenly, he's getting on with Leo much better. Shocker.
(that being said Frank does suggest leaving Leo in Croatia just for making a pun not even at his expense, so make of that what you will lmao)
Reaching the Calypso chapters, there's a lot I could get into. I'll eventually do a break down on just them and why I don't love caleo, but I'll save that for another day. Still - Frank is someone Leo actually makes a point of trying to help once he finds out Calypso has fireproof fabric.
Frank is his friend in Leo's mind, someone he wants to save too. Leo is big on trying to save people. I wonder why, definitely didn't come from childhood trauma or watching his mom burn to death or anything. Moving on.
Finally, Leo returns from Ogygia, Frank is said to have patted him so hard on the back it made Leo wince. Clearly he hates him.
But in all seriousness I think the slow progression of Leo and Frank's relationship is one of the better done character developments in HoO. It's slow, it's subtle it culminates in Frank hugging him next book, and Frank using Leo and Jason as inspiration for using up his wood piece.
The big scene to finish off this book are these pages. If Frank hated Leo, if he felt like Leo was only ever mocking him, trying to hurt his feelings, this would not have happened.
Frank trusts Leo.
Leo trusts Frank.
They're not afraid of each other anymore, they're not scared. They mutually trust one another and know they'll have each other's backs.
That is why Leo trusts only Frank and Hazel with his plan in the next book.
what if... the jasper family existed?
NOTE: First of all, I wrote the basics of these headcanons in 2018. For some reason, I like Jasper (maybe because I feel Jason had a ton of potential and because I'm woc, specifically mixed native Peruvian). Kinda self-insert.
Piper always wanted a family, her childhood was spent without a mother figure and an absent father. So when she was given the opportunity to live in New Rome, she accepted without hesitation.
Despite knowing of Reyna's animosity about Jason, she decided to break up with him and start a new life, training hard like a Roman, learning and taking missions and breaks to connect with her cherokee heritage. But that didn't mean she was separated from her new friends; on the contrary, she joined Percy and her best friend Annabeth's study meetings, casually talking with Hazel about New Rome and joking with Frank.
When Apollo happened, Jason didn't die. In a magical way the events were altered, and he survived the attack, sure, some died, but who cares, Jason is alive. There they realized, that despite both of their insecurities (Jason because of the pressure of not knowing where he belongs and the position of being the son of Zeus, Piper because she believed her mother was intervening in them and felt some internalized misogyny from years of bullying), they could both try again.
After Apollo's crazy adventures, finally, when all seemed calm, they moved to New Rome completely. Jason decided to train the new novices and Piper studied French at the University of New Rome. In turn, both of them when they were enjoying a quiet, domestic life, Jason told her about the mission he had secretly carried out. To make an altar to every god and goddess forgotten. Piper thought he was joking, but his lightning-like eyes assured her it wasn't a joke. Piper warned him that it might take generations to complete, but stubborn Jason didn't change his mind (he got all stubborn thanks to Leo). However, she supported his idea, they interlaced their hands and stared at each other. Piper loved Jason's electric blue eyes and not to mention what Jason loved about his partner, pretty much everything.
With the help of several Roman and Greek friends, thanks to the influence of being surviving heroes, they started with planning maps and fun ideas of where such a thing should go. Nico suggested ideas that would probably bring the war between Romans and Greeks back, haha.
Finally, after a lot of hard work (Jason has a lot of stamina and motivation) they managed to make thirty-four well-done altars by the time they were twenty-four.
Sadly, Tristan McLean passed away, leaving her daughter devastated. And considering the idea of motherhood, she wanted a family (as I mentioned before), someone to protect from the bad guys and to be the mother figure she almost never had. She was hesitant, right, she had time with Jason, but what if he didn't want to be a father? Piper felt his idea of altars would take him away from her. She'd been secretly crying until Annabeth confronted her. She explained how she felt, it turns out Annabeth had that life plan too. Annabeth got Piper to have the courage to tell Jason her family idea.
Surprise! Jason wanted a family too. True, he had Thalia, but they rarely coincided on missions and not to mention his relationship with his father, maybe that's why he trained the initiates because he saw them paternally.
A few days after their conversation about their future, Piper dreamed of Hera/Juno practically giving her consent to marry and have a family. As if they needed it in the first place.
They declared that they would have a break from the altar project, despite the annoyance of the minor gods. They both married in a celebratory Roman, Greek and with major Cherokee undertones (like the fact that if they had children they would inherit Piper's last name), they both danced to Native American flutes (Hera/Juno and Afordite/Venus were on coladas haha).
It was only a year later when Piper got pregnant. Jason was over the moon, practically having meetings with Leo and Frank to figure out how to be a better father, he certainly didn't want to be Zeus. When he wasn't nervous, he was grinning goofily thinking about a girl like Piper (maybe called by some Roman name), he would set up the cradles with Leo that Hazel took it upon herself to decorate with good luck gemstones. Percy told him not to worry so much and relax (that was before Annabeth confessed to him that she wanted to be a mother too), so both dorks are nervous.
Piper learned to make herself traditional Cherokee drinks for aches and pains, and more than once Jason has been flying in to get his wife's weird cravings in the middle of the night. Jason was always protective, but when Piper showed signs of her pregnancy, Piper literally realized that even the eagles were looking out for her, and if she wanted there to be no lightning she got it.
After Hera/Juno's attachment to Jason, she didn't hesitate to call upon her midwife goddess daughter to facilitate her giving birth. It was the first time Piper felt grateful to the goddess who hated demigods.
They were twins; first a beautiful baby girl was born, blonde like her father and with her mother's inherited sweet blue eyes. Jason didn't hesitate to carry her and when he was about to give it to his wife, Piper gave birth again, this time it was a cinnamon-skinned boy like her, with multicolored eyes and long eyelashes. They both cried with happiness, they finally felt that years and years of martyrdom, torture, mental damage for the mere fact of being demigods was finally worth it.
There were very few times in his life when Azriel felt as if he were dreaming. This was one such time.
He was out on a walk in the woods. With his almost ten year old son. Whom he didn’t even know existed until yesterday.
The snow from last night had melted so Azriel took him to the small pond near the house and they’d been there for the past hour. The entire time, Daemon had been talking about his school and his friends and his favorites.
By now, Azriel learned that his best friend was Jason, he studied in fourth grade at Velaris Elementary and he loved to talk.
“Do you know, I have a blue bunny just like the one in your room?” Daemon suddenly spoke up, breaking the silence.
It took Azriel a minute to realize he’s talking about the blue bunny he gave to Elain for her 12th birthday. She had left it along with her letter just before she left. Since then, he had never let go of the bunny. But he clearly remembered his being in his room back home. Maybe Feyre or Nesta had brought it along with his clothes, he assumed. Which also reminded him that he needed to go back home to get all of his stuff.
“You really don’t talk much, do you?” He wondered. Azriel glanced towards him and raised an eyebrow, to which he gave him a toothy smile. “Uncle Lu says that the only way I’m similar to mom is the way I love to speak. Otherwise, I am exactly like you.” Then he frowned. “But my friends never believed me.”
“Why?” Azriel asked.
“Because you never came to any career day or a parent - teacher’s meet or anything.” He said glumly. “They teased me saying that you weren’t real.” He threw a stone into the pond. “Mom said to ignore them because they’re bullies.”
Azriel hated the fact that his son was bullied due to his absence. Daemon then looked up from the lake. “Did you ever get bullied? When you were a kid?”
Azriel gave him a sad smile. “All the time. But you know who always stood up for me?” He shook his head. “Your mom. No matter what it was, she would always support me.”
Daemon smiled. “Mom says that she would help anyone she loves.”
Azriel averted his eyes. Yeah, Elain would do anything for those whom she loves. But he was no longer that person. Azriel got up from where he was sitting and dusted his jeans. “Come on, let's go back. Your mom would be wondering where we are.” He gave Daemon his hand and pulled him up.
“Thank you dad!” He started running ahead but paused, looking back at Azriel. “I’m sorry, I didn’t ask, but is it okay if I call you dad?”
Azriel felt tears brimming in his eyes, but managed to hold them back. “Yeah. I would love that.”
Daemon smiled. “Okay! And you can call me Dae!”
He walked back towards the house and Azriel dazedly followed.
~~~~
Elain quietly finished her breakfast and went to the game room to watch TV. After all, there was not much to do when one was trapped in the middle of nowhere and even better than, when they’ve been kidnapped. She started watching Brooklyn 99 when Nesta came and sat beside her.
“I feel betrayed.” She stated.
“Oh, I wonder why.” Elain continued watching the show, not paying attention to her sister.
“You never used to hide anything from me.” Accusation filled Nesta’s voice. Elain took a cushion and placed it on her lap.
“Yeah, well there’s a first time for everything.” She turned to look at Nesta. “Like, I don’t know, kidnapping your sister and keeping her hostage for no reason whatsoever?” Elain shrugged and turned back towards the show.
“Elain, it’s not like that.” Nesta reasoned.
Elain whipped her head towards her. “Then what is it like? Please tell me. I’m dying to know.”
“And I’m dying to know why you never told any of us about your son!” She screamed in retaliation.
Elain didn’t answer and turned back towards the TV with her hands crossed across her chest.
“Nes, it’s time to - hey! My favorite show!” Cassian walked into the room.
Nesta ignored the second half and got up. “Cassian let’s go.”
He pouted at Nesta. “But the show…”
She dragged him out. “No.”
Feyre walked in from behind them and Elain raised an eyebrow at her. “Let me guess, you were listening?”
She shrugged unapologetically. “How do you expect me not to? Come on, let's drink coffee and gossip like old times.” Elain finally smiled and got up, conveniently forgetting all about her conversation with Nesta.
Feyre handed Elain a coffee mug and dragged her to the outside porch where Cassian and Nesta were getting ready to get into their car.
From the side, Daemon came out of the woods, running, wearing a jacket and gloves. Behind him, Azriel followed slowly. He stopped as Daemon ran towards Cassian who hugged Daemon, making him laugh.
Both Feyre and Elain smiled as they watched them interacting. Elain watched Rhys go towards Azriel and talk about something. With the way his face was, it was probably about something serious, but then again, when did Azriel not have a serious face?
“I wonder how things would’ve been if you would’ve just told us about Daemon.” Feyre said as she looked towards Cassian and Dae.
“I had my reasons, Feyre.”
“I realize that,” She looked at Elain with soft, understanding eyes. “And I am not judging you. But he deserved to know.”
“Both of us deserved a lot of things.” Elain replied sourly. Suddenly Azriel started walking towards them and initially, Elain thought it was to come talk to her. But he passed by her without a word and she ignored him, looking forward.
Feyre sighed audibly.
~~~~~
Azriel and Daemon reached the house just as Cassian and Nesta were getting into their car.
Daemon ran towards them and hugged Cassian. Both of them smiled at each other and Cassian said something which made Daemon laugh. Near the doorway, Azriel saw Elain standing beside Feyre with a coffee mug in her hand. She was smiling as she watched the scene unfold in front of her.
Cassian lifted Daemon up and shook him, which caused Daemon to shriek in laughter. Azriel could feel a small smile of his own forming.
Rhys walked up to him and handed him a mug filled with coffee. He stood beside Azriel and looked at Cassian playing with Daemon. “Sorry about whatever happened at breakfast.” Azriel just nodded. “And not telling you about Elain.” Azriel looked at him with a raised eyebrow. He looked back and rolled his eyes. “What? I’m just apologizing.”
“What do I have to do?” Azriel asked, exhaustion evident in his voice.
“There’s no beating around the bush with you, is there? You need to check on Graysen. Then you need to go and meet up with Vanserra who’ll give you Elain’s stuff. After that, you can go get your stuff.”
Azriel inhaled deeply, the smell of coffee filling him. “I’m going to stay with them.”
“Didn’t expect anything else.”
“When should I leave?” He asked as he finished his coffee.
“Now would be preferable. Nesta and Cassian are leaving. Feyre and I can stay for a while, but not that long.”
Azriel agreed and went inside the cabin, passing Elain and Feyre on the way. Feyre smiled at him while Elain ignored him, looking out towards Daemon and Cassian.
Azriel sighed and walked inside.
People had often told him that he had a bad habit of thinking the worst about himself. They said it as if it was something he could fix. But it was not his fault that whomever he loved turned up dead or left him.
Losing his mother, then getting abused by his actual father who ultimately went to jail. Then he moved in with Rhysand’s family who treated him like their own and his mother died.
And then there was Elain. Luckily she didn’t end up dead, but she very well could. And so could Daemon.
He wouldn’t allow that, no matter how much it might hurt him. He’s stayed away from her once, he could do it again.
~~~~
After Cassian and Nesta left, Azriel soon followed, leaving only Elain, Daemon, Feyre and Rhysand at the cabin. Elain was busy reading a book while both Feyre and Daemon were seated on the library floor, painting on plain sheets of paper.
“Mom,” Elain glanced down at Daemon, who was pouting. “How long will we stay here?”
Elain smiled at him. “I don’t know sweety, ask Auntie Feyre, she’ll probably know.”
He turned towards Feyre who was looking at Elain with narrowed eyes. She shrugged and continued to read her book. “Daemon, have you seen the game room downstairs?” Feyre asked. Daemon shook his head in affirmation and Feyre stood up, wiping her hands on her pants. “Come on, I’ll show you. We have tons of games.” She took Daemon out of the room and stuck her tongue at Elain. Elain replied similarly.
Elain decided to look around the house to see if she could find something helpful. Groaning and muttering curses under her breath when she couldn’t find anything, she walked downstairs to where the TV was. She plopped down on the couch and turned the news on.
There was discussion regarding the previous night’s ball and the attack. Then they showed Graysen in his office, clearly worried.
Rhys came into the room and stood behind Elain, his hands resting just behind her head. “Turn up the volume.”
She did as he said and Graysen’s voice came through. “I don’t know why they’re doing this. I had my suspicions against the Knight clan, but I thought they’d keep it professional. Just yesterday I found out that my fiancée had ties with the Knights and now she’s gone as well. The attack was definitely orchestrated by them.”
Elain frowned. Was he trying to somehow insinuate that she might have a hand with the attack?
“I honestly cannot see what the hell you saw in him.” Rhys stated as he came around and sat beside her.
“Well, neither can I.” She muttered. “Can you at least tell me why I’m being held here?”
Rhys sighed and took the remote from her, turning the TV off. “Look, Graysen has been interfering with our work for quite a while now. His father had a negotiation with us, but with him stepping down, we need control over Graysen.”
“Control?” Elain scoffed. “So what, I'm just a part of some good old business rivalry?”
He gives me a grave look. “Elain, the shit he’s trying to get involved in is much bigger than you could imagine. He’s killed three of my men.”
“Oh, and I guess you took that silently?” When Rhys didn’t answer, Elain shook her head. “Do you really think I haven’t heard of the things you’ve been up to? Not only have you been pretty known in the business section of the news but also the criminal one.”
“Elain you are not understanding. He’s dangerous because he’s going to ruin our city. They’re mainly targeting the kids with this stuff.”
“Why would he do something that awful?”
“That’s not all Ellie. He has a huge prostitution ring going on. He hides it with his greater investments and he has the perfect cover with his fucking neurosurgeon fiancée who helps people.”
Elain looked at the dark screen in front of her and took in deep breaths. “Okay, so even if you are correct, how does it involve me?”
“We kidnap you, torture you and force Graysen to stop.”
Elain widened her eyes in fear. “You- you’re going to torture me?”
A loud sound of Daemon screaming came from the hallways. Suddenly Daemon showed up at the entrance, his cheeks flushed with a bright smile on his face. “Momma, Auntie Feyre’s a dinosaur and she’s going to eat me!” A roar voice came from behind and he ran away, shrieking.
Rhys looked towards Elain with a smirk. “Yes, we plan to torture you to death.”
She rolled her eyes and slightly punched him on the shoulder. He gasped. “Oh no! You’ve hurt me! Someone help me, I’m being tortured!” Elain laughed at him and he started laughing as well.
“I missed that laugh.” He said as they quieted down. “We all did.” He gave her a meaningful look.
“I missed you all too.” She muttered softly.
~~~~~
Azriel was bored out of his mind. He was checking up on Graysen’s activities who was acting as if nothing was wrong. He went to his meetings, had lunch with his father, flirted with literally every single female to pass by.
Azriel’s phone pinged with a message from Lucien telling him to meet at his building's parking lot.
When he reached he found Lucien standing near his car wearing black goggles, playing with a bunch of keys. Azriel slipped on his own and moved towards him. “Where’s the stuff?”
He held the keys out. “At her house.”
Azriel narrowed my eyes at him. “You were supposed to bring them to me.”
“I think Elain would do a much better job of picking out her stuff than me.” He shrugged nonchalantly.
Azriel released a sigh and took the keys from him, turning around to leave. “How are they?” Lucien asked.
“Fine.” He started walking away from him.
“And what about you? You okay?” Lucien called out. Azriel stopped and looked back at him with narrowed eyes.
“Not even 24 hours ago, I found out that I have a nine-year-old son, who looks exactly like me, with the girl whom I have loved ever since I was 12.” His face was emotionless. “How do you think I am?”
“Did you ask Elain how she found out about him? How she managed to raise him as well as get a medical degree, becoming one the best in her class?” His face didn’t hold any anger. Only sympathy and understanding. “Let’s go have some coffee.” He pointed towards the hotel cafe. Azriel nodded and let him lead the way. Lucien went and ordered two coffees while Azriel went and sat down at a table.
Azriel didn’t say anything as he came and placed the coffees on their table. He sat opposite to Azriel and looked at him for a minute. Azriel stared back.
“She didn’t know she was pregnant.” Lucien started off.
“I know.”
He shook his head. “It was the first time in years that she wasn’t with you on your birthday. The night before, she got extremely drunk. Near midnight, she started screaming in her room. I thought she was dying. I took her to the hospital and they told me that she’s in labor. I didn’t even believe it until they let me see him.”
“How didn’t she know?” He wondered.
“It happens. Elain wasn’t in a really good place at that time. She had shifted to a new place with new people, none of her sisters were there with her either. And mainly, she had lost you. That was the one thing that set her back majorly. She didn’t go into depression, or become suicidal or anything. If I wouldn’t have known what had happened, I would’ve thought she was perfectly normal. But she was suffering within. Doctors say that all of that could have made her mentally unprepared for a child, which caused her condition.”
Azriel lowered his head in shame. He caused that. Females have nine months of getting used to having a child and even then, most are not prepared. And for Elain, it would’ve been so sudden, he couldn’t even imagine how it would’ve felt like.
“But she managed to hold on. The way her eyes teared up when she saw him, held him in her hands, it was one the most magical moments of my life. Since then, Elain has had this habit of taking a photo or video of every moment she considers special, so that she can’t have any other special moments stolen from her.” He smiled at him and Azriel remembered how Lucien had taken a photo of Daemon and Cassian at the ball.
“He likes me.” Azriel stated.
Lucien smirked in return. “He idolizes you. You’re this perfect man in his eyes who can never do anything wrong.”
At Azriel’s confused face, he clarified, “Well, he knows Graysen isn’t his father. And he’s old enough to know he didn’t hatch out of an egg.”
“Didn’t he ever ask where I was?” Azriel knew he would’ve if it were him.
“She told him that you couldn’t be with them.”
“And he just accepted it?”
“He is Elain’s kid as well. He sees the good in everything.” Azriel scoffed.
Lucien looked into his phone and got up. “I need to leave and I assume you have some other work to do as well.” Azriel nodded. “I’ll leave you to it. It was nice talking to you.” He shook his hand and watched him go as Azriel remained sitting on his seat, finishing his coffee.
~~~~
After driving for 15 more minutes, Azriel finally reached his own house, empty and lonely. It was far away from the main city, the nearest house was at least a mile away. Rhys and Cassian had expected him to buy a small flat where he could drown himself in his sorrows. Just to spite them, he had bought a huge mansion, with a pool and a fountain. And now, all it did was remind him how lonely and empty he was.
He trudged inside, the lights turning on automatically. First he went to his study and grabbed a few books along with his laptop. Then, he went into his room and took a backpack out. He filled his books and laptop into it. He decided to take a few extra pairs of clothes as well. Azriel turned around surveying the room and looked at the little bunny lying on his pillows. He smiled to himself and picked it up.
Maybe he could bring it along for Daemon. He did mention having a bunny just like this.
Which was at the cabin.
But how was that possible if Azriel’s was here in his house and no one had yet gone to Elain’s house? Unless -
Someone planted it there.
Fuck.
He dropped everything and rushed out of the house, heading straight for his car. As soon as he got the car on, he sped in the direction of the cabin where Elain and Daemon were.
He tried calling Elain but then remembered that he had her phone. He dialed the cabin phone, but no one picked up. He tried both Rhys and Feyre, but theirs directly went to voicemail.
He cursed and sped past all the other vehicles, ignoring all the honking, with only one goal in mind, to reach Elain and Daemon on time.
Who could have known about the blue bunny? And more importantly, how did they manage to hide in the cabin without anyone knowing about it. The cabin was one of the places they used as hideouts, which no one knew about.
What would they want from Elain or Daemon? The blue bunny could be anything, a camera, a voice recorder, a bomb.
He was only 3 miles away from them. Hopefully Rhys and Feyre hadn’t left.
Finally, the cabin came to his view. He looked at the driveway and couldn't see Feyre and Rhys' car.
Damn it, he thought.
~~~~~
Feyre and Rhys left as soon as they finished lunch, promising to return the next day. Azriel had still not returned from wherever he went.
Elain was surprised when Rhys told her that Azriel would be coming back. She had expected him to hate her and not want to ever see her again, considering she hid his child from him.
She was sitting with Daemon in Azriel’s room talking about the recent changes they had faced that day.
“So, did you like your Aunts and Uncles?” She questioned.
Daemon smiled brightly. “They’re so much fun! Especially Uncle Cassian! Did you know he named his daughter Tootsie after the chocolate?” Daemon and Elain giggled. “I told him it was weird and people would make fun of her but he reassured me it was just her nickname.”
Elain huffed out another laugh. “What about your father? I heard you went out on a walk with him.”
Daemon’s smile slightly dimmed. “He said he looked just like me when he was little. I don’t think Dad talks that much.” Daemon brightened. “Oh, and he said he would love it if I called him Dad. I thought he would find it weird.”
Elain sighed. “This whole situation is weird.”
Suddenly, they heard the door slam open and large thumps from someone climbing up the stairs. Azriel barged into the room and beelined towards the bunny kept on the arm chair.
He picked it up and looked at it for a moment before he started tearing open the bunny.
“Mommy, what is dad doing?” Daemon asked her softly. She shrugged and turned towards Azriel.
“Azriel, what are you doing?” He removed all the cotton and uncovered a small device inside which caused her to gasp. “Holy shit.”
“Take Daemon and go to my car, now.” He said fiercely. Elain instantly took Daemon’s hand and dragged him downstairs and out of the house where Azriel’s car was. The door was left open and the ignition was still on. Elain placed Daemon inside and sat on the driver’s seat preparing to take her son and run away. She could escape. But something stopped her. There was a fucking bomb in the room she and her son were in. She didn’t want to take a chance with any other horror waiting for them.
Azriel came running towards them and she shifted the gear to drive, ready to drive as soon as he sat in the car.
“Momma?” She looked down at Daemon and realized that he’s not wearing a jacket. He looked at her, fear evident in his eyes. “Don’t worry Dae, daddy’s coming, okay.”
He bobbed his head and waited patiently. Azriel quickly got into the car.
“Get out of here quickly.” He instructed and Elain quickly reversed the car, pedaling the accelerator, the car lurching. As they reached the large gates of the house, she heard a loud exploding sound and could see the house up in flames from the rearview mirror.
“Don’t look back!” Azriel told Daemon, his body turned around completely, holding Daemon’s shoulders.
“Mommy, what’s happening? I’m scared.” He whispered with his hands covering his ears.
“I don’t know. Just, don’t worry.” Elain reassured him with tears in her eyes as she glanced towards Azriel who was completely focussed on Daemon.
~~~~~
Azriel was looking straight ahead, pitching in to tell Elain the directions once in a while. Other than that, he remained quiet.
“Azriel, what just happened?” Elain asked after a while.
“Shit happened.” He replied curtly as he urged her to speed up the car, ignoring others on the road.
“Azriel, that’s not an answer.”
“I’ll tell you when I get this mess sorted out.” He continued looking straight ahead. He saw Elain shaking her head in his peripheral vision.
Azriel took his phone and scrolled through his contacts, clicking on Cassian’s name. A second later the sound of ringing came through the car speakers. “Hey Az! Everything good with-”
“Get Rhys and come to my office as soon as possible.” He cut the call and looked back towards the road.
“Azriel, what’s going on?” He just continued to ignore Elain and turned back towards Daemon.
“Hey buddy. How are you holding up?” Daemon looked slightly scared but managed a small smile. “Okay, we’re about to go to my office okay? You’ll get to see where I work.”
He told Elain where to enter and informed her which spot to park in. Then he got out of the car and opened the back door holding a hand out for Daemon.
“Azriel tell me what’s going on!” Elain whispered beside him.
He ignored her again. “Azriel Knight! What is happening! This is the second time in a day that I’ve been driven away to some place I don’t even know where! I deserve to know where you’re taking me and my son.”
“There was a fu-” He glanced back at Daemon who looked slightly startled. “There was a bomb in the toy.” He says calmly.
“Yeah, I know! I saw that! Question is, why the hell was it there?”
He took a sharp turn entering a lobby. “I don’t know.” He couldn’t hide his frustration that he didn’t know about the bomb.
“Why are we here?” Elain asked in a calmer voice as they entered the elevator.
“I’ve told Rhys and Cassian are going to meet us here.”
They soon reached a well decorated floor, with a woman waiting behind a desk and a large couch set up. Azriel turned towards Daemon and knelt down. “Daemon, I need you to wait out here okay? Mom and I will be right inside.”
Daemon nodded slowly and Azriel looked towards the woman behind the desk who came towards Daemon with a smile. “Hello! My name is Cerridwen. Why don't you come along with me?”
Azriel then grabbed Elain and dragged her into a massive office space.
“Rhys and Cassian will be here soon.” He said as he settled in his chair.
~~~~
A few minutes later Rhys and Cassian stormed through the office.
“You took your sweet time.” Azriel said coolly as he got up from his seat, Elain sitting quietly in the corner.
Cassian scoffed. “Well, you didn’t exactly give us enough information. We had to prepare.”
“Cassian knock it off.” Rhys interjected and moved towards the couch. Both of them sat down while Azriel continued to stand.
“So,” Cassian started. “I’m guessing something’s wrong.”
Elain couldn’t stop her snort. “Yes. Thank you for stating the obvious.”
Both Cassian and Rhys sent amused looks towards her. “Where’s Daemon?”
“He’s sitting in the waiting room.” Azriel replied in a cold voice and then glanced at Rhys. “You’re getting sloppy.”
Rhys furrowed his eyebrows. “What do you mean?”
“Azriel. It’s not his fault.” Cassian started.
“I’m not even talking about that. There was a bomb in the house.” Azriel accused.
“A what?!” Both Cassian and Rhys exclaimed.
“It was in a blue bunny in Azriel’s room.” Elain informed them.
Rhys looked at Elain, “The same one that you…?” She nodded but Azriel replied, “No, it was different.”
“How did someone place it there?” Rhys wondered aloud.
Azriel kept a stone cold face. “You tell me.”
Cassian shrugged. “Guess it’s not much of a secret hideout now?”
“Cassian, it was set to explode minutes after I found it. What if I had not reached them on time? And it was in my room for God’s sake!” Azriel claimed.
Rhys stood up from his seat. “Keep them at your place. It’s well away from the main city and no one can find it, even with the help of directions.”
Azriel crossed his arms. “And you’re not going to say anything about the bomb?”
“Az, how was I supposed to know that someone would place a bomb?”
Azriel pointed a finger towards him accusingly. “You were supposed to ensure everything was safe. You fucked up Rhys. Admit it.”
Rhysand raised his hands in surrender. “I get it, I’ll do better next time.”
“There shouldn’t be a next time.” He stated.
“Okay, but don’t do anything that’ll screw things up.”
He scoffed at Rhys. “Interesting. What would’ve you done if it was Feyre, huh?” Then he turned towards Cassian. “Or Nesta and Tootsie?”
“Az, you’re-”
“You would tear apart the entire world. In fact you did almost that when Feyre was taken.”
Rhys sighed. “Az, you can do whatever you want. Just not at the moment. I’m just telling you to stand by for-”
“Don’t you fucking dare expect me to stand by when someone tries to hurt my son and the woman I love!” Azriel shouted.
Instantly, everything went dead quiet. Both of them were looking at Azriel in resignation.
Elain looked shocked at his words. She couldn’t remember a time she ever saw him shout in anger. But what shocked her more was that he called her the woman he loves.
Azriel took a deep breath and stormed out of the room, not glancing at any one of them.
I'm still obsessing over the Krypton survives au but especially Jon and Damian’s dynamic because look. They're both spoiled, impatient little kids with attitude problems. The only difference is that Jon is Kryptonian-spoiled and Damian’s human-spoiled. Jon knows that if he's too snarky, he WILL be left in the middle of nowhere to fend for himself because he won't die or get hurt, just be upset until he's learnt his lesson. Damian can mouth off as much as he wants because the worst punishment he gets is a grounding or lecture.
Jon thinks Damian is a spoiled little brat that's never known an actual consequence a day in his life and doesn't hesitate to make it known. Just because he was raised to be kind doesn't mean he had to be NICE, and if he can't hit Damian like they do in Krypton because he's a weak human baby or whatever, he can at least call him some names.
Damian’s infuriated because, well, how dare the alien speak to him like that? Jon gives absolutely zero shits and regularly asks him whether he was raised with animals, because even toddlers have better manners.
Kon thinks it's funny because Jon's ten and acting like a nine year old is a baby. Tim thinks it's funny how indignant Damian gets at being referred to as a baby by a kid barely a year his senior. They're two kids beefing because they like each other's attitudes
Jon Kent waking up everyday and choosing violence on Damian specifically is such a favorite trope. Closest thing he gets to bullying him is stealing Bruce's attention.
Like, hey, I picked these flowers up for your dad! He loves daisies, right :)) I made sure :))))) Damian sits there dejected with his bouquet of roses for Bruce. He thought his Baba's tastes were more refined!
Bruce is so touched that his babies would do that!! Oh, he starts to cry.
Kon snorts. " He calls you guys babies? Dude, that's so lame."
Bruce, from the kitchen: " Kon, baby, can you get this cup for me? It's too high."
Jason sprints " I GOT IT, PAPI!"
Kon FLIES " No, PA, I GOT IT-"
Legoland Penny, Noel and Damian would definitely be bullied by Kurt, Ram, Regina, Gretchen and Karen.
Legoland Penny, Ricky, Noel, Damian, Janis, Martha and Veronica would probably be in a group. Veronica would leave for the Heathers, disappointing the others as she becomes a bully (musical start, y'know?). Ricky, Noel, Martha and Legoland Penny would probably leave when they started using Cady to infiltrate the group of the Plastics and stay in a group of their own. After the Cyclone incident, bus incident and Jason Dean's bomb suicide they'd probably try to form back the group + Cady + Heather McNamara but I'm not sure it would work.
Jason Dean and Mischa would interact over their hatred of Kurt and Ram once or twice but keep to themselves. Mischa doesn't trust Jason.
Mischa would probably ask Janis to make art for his thumbnails.
Ocean would get destroyed by Heather Chandler socially if they ever were to interact and Kurt and Ram would probably bully her but Ocean is implied to have power in the organisation things of school so she probably can keep them in check to a certain level. Ocean and Regina would definitely team up against Chandler in my mind.
Constance, Martha and Heather McNamara would probably be friends behind closed doors. If not, Heather McNamara wouldn't be with them until the end of the Heathers musical.
Heather Duke and Ocean would probably interact once or twice and I think Heather Duke would secretely help Ocean and Regina take down Heather Chandler.
Noel, Janis and Damian would totally hang out by themselves, up to the point in which Damian and Janis begin using Cady, then they'd stop. I don't think Noel would agree to that.
Jason Dean would probably want to be friends with Legoland Penny Lamb because of JK-47. Or try to manipulate her, but she'd probably get a bad feeling from him. Post-accident Penny Lamb would scare him and he wouldn't attempt approaching her.
Post-accident Penny Lamb would terrify the bullies. Kurt and Ram would die not too long after.
In this AU we'll make it so the rtc cast all went to the warehouse, sang then all came back to life with miraculous minor injuries, but they'd be affected by that experience (Penny, for example, would have some kind of amnesia and her personality would be more similar to Jane Doe's, making her seem creepier)
For story purposes, they'll all start school in August. AND WE ARE IGNORING THANKSGIVING BECAUSE IT'D BE TOO HARD AND I'D ACTUALLY HAVE TO SEARCH UP THE DATES AND A GOOD YEAR FOR THIS. NO THANKSGIVINGS, SORRY. CANADA'S AND USA'S ARE FAR TOO DIFFERENT IN DATES.
Some day in August: School start
September 1st: Veronica gets into the Heathers' clique
September 14th: Cyclone accident, the choir is miraculously mostly intact. A few broken bones and tests have to be run on them. They return to school about a month or two later for story purposes (if needed delay it of a month and have them stay at home for a month instead of 2). Their story does go on, though, and they do interact with their school friends and are kept on with the drama but are like "What in the actual fuck is going on"
September 21st: Veronica meets Jason Dean, but only meets. They do meet at the 7-11, but nothing else important really happens for story purposes.
Halloween: important in Mean Girls, Dead Girl Walking night.
November 1st: ironically, Heather Chandler dies.
November 8th: the choir doesn't attend the funeral, Heather Duke-Ocean-Regina alliance has long been discarded. The choir would probably feel bad attending the funeral. Blue. The "diet" bars.
November 9th: Kurt and Ram die. The choir is suspicious.
November 11th: Jason: Duke, have people sign this. Regina, you too.
November 23rd or whenever: Regina loses power, Cady gains it. Shine A Light. Heather McNamara attempts.
November 30th: World Burn, Meant To Be Yours, Jason Dean dies, Regina almost dies. The choir sings and Heather McNamara cheerleads. The choir runs the fuck out of the school and as far away as possible from the sound when the bomb explodes.
ALSO WE ALL KNOW Ms. Flemming WOULD FUCKING LOVE THE CHOIR INCIDENT'S MEDIA ATTENTION. A FIC LIKE THIS TO READ WOULD BE FANTASTIC, IMAGINE THE CHAOS IN THAT SCHOOL
She'd also act very similarly to pre-development Ocean to Ricky if not worse
So far this is what I have, use this but tag me, I wanna read that. I'll probably never write this, so here you have it
Imagine if every musical that takes place at a high school/stars high school students took place at the same school + at the same time.
Like imagine the events of Heathers, Mean Girls, Ride the Cyclone/LegoLand, and Nerdy Prudes Must Die.
All going on at the same time.
Seeing as it's Friday the 13th today (aka the day I requested this) maybe Jason Voorhees concepts?
The idea I had in mind was that the reader was Jason's only friend as a kid at camp crystal lake and would often try to protect him against the bullies
Now that she's older she decided to try working for crystal lake but never forgot about her dear childhood best friend and he certainly never forgot about her
I've done a concept for him, however! I can do this too :) Vague if this is alive or undead Jason. It's also vague if platonic or not.
Hope it's okay, kind of made it add on to my previous concept somewhat.
Yandere! Jason Voorhees Short Concept
"Long Lost Friend"
Pairing: Romantic/Platonic
Possible Trigger Warnings: Gender-Neutral Darling, Yandere-like behavior, Stalking, Implied murder/mentioned murder, Thoughts of kidnapping.
- When you both were younger, the kids were outright mean to Jason because of how he looked.
- Luckily, he wasn't entirely alone.
- You happened to always be there to defend him when the bullying got bad.
- You encouraged him to not listen to them and gave him confidence when you could.
- This made the young Jason see you as a dear friend.
- Someone who cared for him...
- Although, the one day you were not at camp, Jason was pushed into the lake and drowned.
- You were heartbroken when you heard the news but never forgot about the friend you made.
- Even when you no longer went to camp after the accident, you still thought of how you could've prevented it.
- You didn't return to Camp Crystal Lake until you needed a summer job.
- Memories came flooding back once you stepped on the camp grounds...
- Including the bad ones.
- The lake was something you wanted to stay far away from even if it was beautiful.
- You knew what happened there....
- You didn't want a repeat of it.
- You thought this job would be decent, being a responsible counselor compared to all the others.
- You had no idea your presence had awoken a masked beast.
- Your calm job crumbles when you hear people say counselors are going missing.
- Your anxiety is constantly on edge when you feel eyes on your back even when alone.
- The camp quickly becomes a hell hole the longer you're here.
- All because of one thing...
- Jason knows you're here.
- The slasher is excited to know you came back.
- He thought he'd never see his dearest friend again.
- But here you were, caring for the kids like he knew you would.
- You aren't irresponsible... you actually do your job unlike the counselors that allowed him to 'die'.
- He expected nothing less of you.
- The longer he watches you, the longer he misses you.
- It'll only be a matter of time before he reunites with you.
- You'll both be so happy living with him here.
Wanna Be Somebody to Someone
Requests are open | prompt lists for inspiration | Stranger Things Masterlist
Summary: Jason has been asking you out for days, and while you think it's just some stupid bet, he doesn't leave you alone, even after you shoot him down in front of pretty much everyone. When he approaches you after school, Eddie takes it upon him to show Jason that no means no. Pairing: Eddie Munson x plus size (fem) Reader Word count: 1543 Warning/Tags: angst, hurt/comfort, mentions of blood, violence (Eddie and Jason fight), mentions of bullying (let me know if I missed anything) Author’s note: Taken from this prompt list with "Hey, they said 'no'", I just had this in my head and had to get it out, especially because I wanted to start writing for a plus-size reader, though in this one it's only mentioned once or twice, but yeah. 💚 Read on AO3
Jason had been getting on your nerves all day, because you’d declined a date with him. During lunch break, he’d tried to talk to you once again, but you’d shut him down in front of everyone, telling him to leave you alone, because you were not interested. Feeling everybody’s eyes on you, you nearly panicked and walked briskly out of the cafeteria. You didn’t need to give them more to stare at, so you left the building and took a deep breath of fresh air.
You were pretty sure that Jason was just so persistent, because he’d made a bet with someone. Up until a few days ago, you hadn’t been on his radar at all, and you’d liked it that way. He wasn’t exactly the person you wanted to associate with, meaning people who bullied each other, because you’d been on the receiving end of that bullying more than once. All that had only kind of stopped when you’d started hanging out with the freaks. Not that you’d call them that, but Eddie had approached you one day and offered you a seat at their table, on a day where the basketball players had stared at you and laughed about you. You had no idea what exactly they’d said, but you’d overheard them often enough to know what kinds of things they were saying, because you weren’t one of the petite girls.
You knew that you were bigger than pretty much all of them, but that didn’t make you less of a human-being. Oh, you’d tried to fit in at first, but by now, you’d found your group of friends, the people you felt safe and happy around, meaning the guys from the Hellfire Club. At first you’d been quiet around them as well, but you’d quickly warmed up to them, and by now, you were even teasing them a little bit, all in a loving manner of course.
“You alright?” Eddie was suddenly leaning against the wall next to you, checking up on you. He always did, watching out for his sheep as he called you.
“Yeah, just needed to get out of there.” You smiled at him, before you let your eyes dart across the lawn again. Being this close to him always made your heart beat faster, and you knew all too well what that meant. You shouldn’t fall for him, you knew that, had known that from the start, but it hadn’t stopped your stupid heart from reserving him a place on its throne.
“Want me to talk to him?”
“No, you really don’t have to.” You turned towards him, shaking your head. “It’ll die down eventually and he’ll leave me alone.”
While you appreciated the offer, Jason and Eddie weren’t on the best terms as it was, so it was definitely better if Eddie stayed away from him. For everyone involved. You’d never seen Eddie get physical with anyone, but the way he looked at Jason most of the time… It was a miracle, he hadn’t given him a real piece of his mind already.
“Okay… just say the word and I will, darling.”
“Thanks Eddie.” You leaned towards him to kiss his cheek, but then hurried to get back inside.
—
After school, you really wished you would have told Eddie to talk to Jason, because while most of the other students had left, you’d stayed back to swap some books at your locker in peace and then head home - and you weren’t alone.
“We're not done talking, y/n,” Jason leaned against the lockers close to you, smirking, his arms crossed over his chest.
“Yes we are. I have nothing more to say to you, Jason.” You didn’t even look at him, but your heart was still picking up its pace, because you didn’t particularly like being alone with him. You slammed your locker shut with more force than necessary, because you were getting a little frustrated.
“Come on, it's just one date!”
“So that you can say you cleared the fat chick? No thanks, Jason.” You rolled your eyes at him and turned around, grateful for the surge of confidence.
“It’s not like that!” He grabbed your arm and turned you back towards him, not letting you go. “Did Munson tell you that? Give me a chance! I deserve it!”
“I said no, Carver. Now let me go!” You enunciated every word so that he’d hopefully, finally understand you and get going, but he didn’t.
“Hey! She said ‘no’!” Eddie spun Jason around to face him, and Jason let go of you in turn. Eddie, your knight in not so shining armour, but you were grateful for him. You’d thought that you were able to get Jason to back off by yourself, but apparently, he was more stubborn than you’d thought.
“This is none of your business, freak!” Jason tried to turn around again, but Eddie stopped him, shoved his shoulder, so that Jason’s back hit the lockers.
“It is my business if you keep harassing my girl.”
“Your girl?”
His girl? Okay, it was probably Eddie’s way of trying to get Jason to leave you alone, but you couldn’t deny the fact that your heart rate suddenly surged through the goddamn roof upon hearing his words. Even if he didn’t mean them, they still had an effect on you.
“She’s not your girl, Munson. Leave us the fuck alone.” Jason was angry, you could see it in his whole body, and before you could intervene, he swung at Eddie, but Eddie was able to duck, landing a punch to Jason’s side in turn. He tumbled, but was back at Eddie in a matter of seconds, this time aiming for his head, and Eddie wasn’t quick enough to get away from him.
God, this was awful, really awful, and there was nothing you could do, except try to talk them down, but they didn’t hear you. Only when a door a few feet away opened, did they break apart, fully expecting to see a teacher appear, but it was just the janitor.
Still, both of them were now a few feet apart and while Jason was holding his side, Eddie wiped blood off his lips.
“This isn’t over, Munson.” Jason narrowed his eyes at both of you before he turned on his heel and finally left you alone. For a moment you stood there frozen in place, but then movement came back into your lips and you walked up to Eddie.
“Are you alright?” He turned his face away from you, but you weren’t having it. “Let me see!” Gently, you cupped his chin to turn his face towards you.
“Bossy suits you,” he said with a smirk, but winced because of the cut in his lower lip, that you were able to see now. The tissue around his left eye already began swelling.
“Good, because I’m gonna boss you around a little more.” You were angry, because being angry was easier than being worried about him, so you pushed that aside. “Come on!” Taking his hand, you walked straight towards the girls’ bathroom with him. Eddie’s fingers wrapped around yours, but he followed without saying a word.
“Stay right there.” You made him lean against one of the sinks while you got some paper towels.
“Never thought I’d find myself here.” Eddie cast a quick glance around before his eyes found you again.
“What were you thinking?” Ignoring what he’d just said, you looked back at him. You wet the towels and walked back up to him again.
“To be fair, I didn’t start the fight.”
“No, but I’m pretty sure you knew what you were getting yourself into!”
“I was just trying to protect you, y/n!” Eddie sighed, placed his hand on your upper arm while you carefully dabbed at the blood on his lips, avoiding the cut itself for now. Your touch was extremely soft despite your harsh words.
“I know,” you say with a sigh. “I guess what I’m trying to say is thank you. But I was just so worried about you.”
“But I’m alright. And I’d do it again.”
“You’re pretty far from alright.” Still, you can’t help but smile at his words. Always playing it down. You put the bloody paper towels away, and took some new ones, ran them under cold water and gave them to him. “Hold this to your eye… it will help to stop the swelling.” Eddie nodded and did what you told him. Meanwhile, you were taking care of the cut in his lip itself as best as you could. He didn’t need stitches, but it would still hurt.
“You’ll be alright, just no going around kissing anyone at the moment,” you said with a smile, taking a step back from him.
“There’s only one person I want to kiss, and that one is a little mad at me.”
His words made you swallow hard. It sounded like he was talking about you, but maybe that was just your imagination.
“You know, when I called you my girl earlier, that was kinda wishful thinking.” He couldn’t call you his, he hadn’t even asked you out yet, but maybe it was time that he did something about this. “Didn’t really know how to ask you.”
“You what?” Now, you turned around to him again, your heart nearly jumping out of your chest. Was he being serious?
Eddie chuckled, took a step towards you and reached for your hand.
“Don’t look so surprised!” While he wasn’t sure whether Jason had asked you out because of a bet or whatever else, it had certainly made him jealous. You were too good for Jason, for Eddie as well in his own opinion, but he tried to push these thoughts aside. “You’re gorgeous, you say what’s on your mind, and you shooting Jason down in front of the whole cafeteria was just one of the hottest things ever!”
You felt the heat in your cheeks. Nobody had ever called you hot before, but Eddie… God, he had no idea what he was doing to you right now.
“So… will you go out with me?”
“God, yes!” You couldn’t help but laugh at your own reaction, because you certainly hadn’t wanted the words to come out like that, but now you were both laughing. “Let’s just wait until your injuries are better.” “Why’s that?”
“Remember what I told you before? No kissing until that’s better.”
“Oh… Ohhhh!”
After rumors being spread about Y/N, Eddie comes to her rescue.
notes: 6/9 of my 100 followers celebration! highschool students being mean. bullying. profanities. usage of weed. implications of sex but no actual smut.
my reputation’s never been worse, so, you must like me for me.
SLUT!
BITCH!
WHORE!
That was the words that were written across Y/N’s locker when she got there on Monday morning. She looked around to see the culprit and saw Carol and her cronies all huddled up on the other side of the hallway, smirking at her.
It has been two weeks since Carol spread the rumors that Y/N fucked her boyfriend, Tommy, when in fact he was the one begging her to do so even when she repeatedly said no, multiple times.
Carol saw Tommy and Y/N together one time. And after that, she immediately told everyone that Y/N begged Tommy to fuck her repeatedly, until he only did it so that she’ll stop asking. Which was completely false, by the way. In Y/N’s opinion, she would rather die than be with a sleep with a man like Tommy.
Y/N hung her head down as she heard those words (and more) as she made her way down the hall. She bolted out of the building and made her way towards the woods.
There, she sat on the picnic benches as she just spent her homeroom there, instead of the actual classroom, seeing as all she’ll here from everyone is those words again with the added bonus of her teachers not caring.
“Hey. You want to buy some more weed?”
She turned around and saw Eddie (with his infamous lunch box), a close friend and as well as her weed supplier, making his way to the bench she was sitting on.
“Hi Eddie. Not in the mood. Just want to think.”
“You know, Carol and her friends are bitches, yeah?”
“I know. But they’re popular, so everybody treats their words like it’s gospel.”
Eddie just laughed and looked at the girl sitting across him.
“If it helps, I don’t believe any of the bullshit their spewing, yeah?”
“Thanks. I also don’t believe when Jason calls you a freak,” she smiled back.
Eddie just laughed again as he lit up a joint and started smoking it. He passed it along Y/N who took it.
The two spent the hour in woods and they reluctantly went back to campus as they had a quiz for history and Eddie was desperately trying not to fail.
When they got back, everyone was shocked to see Eddie Munson and Y/N L/N together and these sparked new conversations.
“Bet you sucked his cock, didn’t you L/N?!” Carol shouted.
“No, she didn’t, but your boyfriend wishes she would suck his, isn’t that right, Tommy?” Eddie replied, winking at her in the process.
Carol’s eyes widened as she started hitting Tommy in the chest.
All of Tommy’s friends snickered as Carol’s gasp. Eddie grabbed Y/N’s hand as they made their way to their history class.
♡ ♡ ♡
After a grueling exam, the two made their way out of the room.
Eddie was still with Y/N and for the first time in days, people have stopped calling Y/N names and even the words on her locker were already gone.
Y/N looked around and saw none of Tommy nor Carol’s friends.
“Hey, thanks for earlier, Eddie,” Y/N smiled at him.
“Sure, it was no problem. As long as you keep buying weed from me, we’ll always be good,” he replied smiling at her as well.
“I want to repay you Eddie, please?” Y/N got closer and whispered in Eddie’s ear, “May I’ll do to you all the things Tommy wanted do with me, yeah?” she said as Eddie’s face started to go red, “If you’re interested, meet me in the woods in 15 minutes, alright?” she said biting her lip before leaving Eddie all flustered and red in the face.
Once he finally snapped out of it, he also rushed to follow her in the woods, ready to do all the things Tommy would have dreamed of doing with Y/N.
💙Hi there! I’m one of your Patrons! ($5 tier - Stephanie Renée Lawson)💙
Prompt 1: Loving Wayne comforts Eddie after a bad nightmare.
Prompt 2: Steve and Eddie have a double date with Robin and Nancy at their first fancy restaurant.
Thank you! 🥰
prompt 1
Wayne flicks through the channels on TV. He needs to get up, adjust the antennas, but Eddie is fast asleep in his lap. The boy hadn’t had the best day- rough day at school, and Steve had to work tonight. Wayne had attempted to make it better by fixing Eddie’s favorite meal- chicken nuggets. It’d helped slightly, but as soon as dinner was over, Eddie was back to sulking.
Even though Eddie wouldn’t admit it, Wayne suspected he’d been cornered by some bullies today. He almost always can tell when Eddie has bad encounters with Jason Carver. He’d be jumpy for the rest of the day, and would retreat to his room to draw or work on his campaigns. Wayne makes a mental note to ask Steve if anything had happened.
Eddie’s a very still sleeper, so Wayne hardly notices he’s there. Other than the occasional soft snore or sleep talking, he’s quiet.
And that’s why his nightmares are so disturbing.
It starts slow, but Wayne still jumps when Eddie begins to squirm in his sleep. Eddie’s face scrunches up, and he grabs a fistful of his uncle’s shirt. He whimpers, still fighting whatever his mind had conjured up for him to fight.
“Son, it’s okay,” Wayne soothes, “I’m right here.” He knows better than to wake somebody from a night terror. A bruised jaw from a few months ago had let him know not to shake somebody experiencing a trauma nightmare.
Suddenly, Eddie lets out a scream. He’s thrashing now, gasping for air in between screams. Wayne grabs the boy, and restrains him against his chest. God, he hopes this would end soon. “Eddie! Wake up, son, it’s okay!”
Finally, Eddie jolts upward with a scream. “Help!” He looks around frantically- where are the bats? Where is Vecna? His eyes land on his uncle, instead.
Safe. Uncle Wayne is safe.
He tries to explain his dream, tries to talk, but all he can do is cry. “Uncle Wayne! It was terrible!”
Wayne holds the boy closer. “I know, son. Tell me all about it.”
“The bats!” He chokes out, “Oh, God, they were tearing into me! Vecna… he was chasing me! I just wanted to go home, but I couldn’t! And Steve was dead and you were dead and it was the worst nightmare ever!”
Wayne rubs Eddie’s back, nodding as he explained his dream. “It’s all over now. You’re safe.”
After Eddie’s crying begins to slow down, Wayne takes him to the kitchen. “How about some late night snacks?”
“Frosted flakes?” Eddie asks halfheartedly.
“If you want.”
Eddie smiles, just a little.
His uncle pours them both a bowl of cereal- no milk for Eddie. If his cereal got soggy, Wayne wouldn’t hear the end of it until next year. “You make the best cereal,” Eddie says around a mouthful of frosted flakes, “Thank you.”
“Always, boy.”
prompt 2
“I’m pretty sure the fork goes on the left side.”
“I’m pretty sure I don’t care.”
Nancy swats at Eddie and Robin in an attempt to stop their bickering. “Both of you, stop! We are at the fanciest restaurant in Indiana!”
Steve scoffs, “Only because it was you and Robin’s turn to pick the restaurant.”
“Oh, there was no Robin involved,” Robin laughs dryly, “I wanted a cheeseburger from McDonald’s- Nancy wanted a filet mignon.”
Nancy opens her mouth to retort, but Steve beats her there. “Yeah, sure, Nance, let’s take our autistic partners to a fancy restaurant with a dress code- what could go wrong?”
“Steve,” Eddie whines, “I don’t eat anything on this menu!”
“Me either,” Robin says.
Nancy huffs, and places her head in her hands. “Have either of you thought about trying something new?”Both of them shake their heads rapidly. “Okay, fine,” Nancy points to an item on the menu. “This is basically a grilled cheese with ham.”
“A crack monster?” Eddie asks.
Nancy feels her soul die a little. “Croque monsieur.”
“Can I get mine with no ham?”
“Robin-”
“It better not come on whole wheat bread.”
“Eddie-”
Robin lets out a loud groan, and pushes away her menu. “This is stupid, and this suit jacket is itchy!”
A waiter approaches them, interrupting Nancy from choking her lovely girlfriend. “May I get you something to drink?”
Eddie nods. “Your finest mountain dew.”
“We don’t carry soft drinks, sir.”
“Yup, I’m out,” Eddie says, getting out of his seat. “I’m sure the crack monster is lovely, but I need soda.”
Nancy groans, “Croque monsieur!”
Robin and Eddie steal some bread rolls from the table before chasing one another out of the restaurant. Steve sighs, “Sorry, Nance.”
“…We’re going to McDonald’s, aren’t we?”
“Probably.”
Nancy rolls her eyes as she follows Steve out of the restaurant. One night, she just wanted one good night. Just then, she hears rain begin pouring on the roof. Great.
She pushes open the door, and what she sees makes all her anger melt away.
Eddie and Robin are giggling and dancing in the rain, tossing dinner rolls at one another. Eddie’s tie is on the ground, Robin’s new suit jacket is soaking wet. “Steve! Nancy!” Robin yells, “Dance with us!”
Steve and Nancy exchange looks before running to join their other halves.
Nancy laughs, pulling Robin in close. “So much for my filet mignon, huh?” She smiles, gently elbowing her girlfriend. Before Robin can respond, Eddie chucks a roll at the back of her head. “Munson, you are so dead!”
“Been hunted down since senior year, baby! Get in line!” Another roll.
“Which senior year?”
Eddie fakes a gasp. “Don’t make me shove that damn clarinet down your throat, Buckley.”
Steve shakes his head, then opens the car door. “All of you, in the car! You’re going to catch a cold!”
Piling in the car together, they all huddle close to keep warm. “So…” Eddie asks. “McNuggets?”
“McNuggets,” Robin agrees.
