#i will always be on the ahsoka hate train and i will never stop saying that she and filoni are a DETRIMENT to the prequels because THEY ARE
ooops-i-arted · 10 months
Note
oooo not sure if we are still on the "if you have nothing nice to say about ahsoka, sit next to me" train but i was in the prequels fandom pre-tcw show/when it was just getting popular and hadn't proliferated yet and the amount of complexity and nuance anakin's character was allowed to have rocked (in both fanon and the canon materials that were coming out at the time)!! he was a whiny, graceless, socially awkward, violent little boy who suffered from horrible trauma (also really miss the dark places that the sw eu was allowed to go pre-disney) and a war where he felt more and more isolated as it mounted. the only two tethers he had were obi-wan and padme, both given so much more depth and importance in his life i feel like. his fall was a long, slow careful build-up of terrible choices and immaturity that kinda gets destroyed the second you give him a padawan and make him a good master to her. it's not that i hate ahsoka or anything but her presence really.... lessened the story a lot and flattened it down into "jedi bad, anakin good, obi-wan and padme just kinda there while anakin is understood by his TRUE family and is tricked into going to the dark side." the anakin i conceive of in my head is never gonna be filoni's and is never gonna have a padawan lolllll
Tumblr media
Yes! Yes this! Anakin is a trash can of a human being, and yeah trauma is a factor but it's HIS OWN CHOICES that cinch the deal and that is ALWAYS made clear. He was a wonderful unique amazing character and George Lucas did a great job setting up his fall gradually through AotC and showing it in RotS. Filoni's stuff is just cheap filler that tries to rewrite it to make Anakin look "better." HE WAS NEVER SUPPOSED TO BE BETTER, THIS GUY TURNS INTO DARTH VADER. But yeah everything you just said, amen.

Sabine Wren & Ahsoka Tano (Quick Analysis)
Fear is The Path
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alright, let's get into it.
For this post we're going to take a look into the Master/Apprentice relationship between Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren. Specifically, I'm going to be looking into why Ahsoka felt it necessary to walk away from Sabine's training as a Jedi.
In Ahsoka, we're pointed to a major historical event known as the Great Purge of Mandalore being the catalyst; the Empire carpet bombing the planet surface, killing millions of Mandalorians, scattering the remaining survivors to the stars and, for Sabine, causing the loss of her entire family: Alrich Wren (father), Countess Ursa Wren (mother), and Tristan Wren (brother).
Tumblr media
Ahsoka, for reasons only known to herself, abandoned Sabine's Jedi training shortly after this event. We're given some insight via Huyang in Ahsoka 1x08, however:
Huyang: Ahsoka became afraid that Sabine was training to be a Jedi for the wrong reasons after what happened on Mandalore. Ezra: Which was? Huyang: At the end of the war, the Empire purged the entire surface of the planet, killing hundreds of thousands. Ezra: Her family? Huyang: Were all lost, sadly. At the time, Ahsoka felt that if Sabine unlocked her potential, she would become dangerous.
However, it's clear that Huyang doesn't have the full picture of the fallout between Ahsoka and Sabine. Sabine herself only has her own warped view of why Ahsoka left, as evidenced by Baylan's manipulation in Ahsoka 1x04:
Baylan: I know you feel that Ezra Bridger is the only family you have left. Your family died on Mandalore . . . because your Master didn't trust you.
Piecing together the, admittedly, few clues we have paints the picture that Ahsoka prevented Sabine from helping her family during the Purge - which led to their deaths.
It's understandable that Sabine would have been outraged; both at the loss of her family, her people, her way of life and also at her Master who, for whatever reason, did not want Sabine present on Mandalore to save her family.
Until Dave Filoni reveals the exact details of what happened during that event, we're left with speculation. My personal take is simply this: Ahsoka did not want Sabine to die alongside her family. It's what makes the most amount of sense to me.
Ahsoka cares about Sabine, like any Master would do for their student.
So - Sabine loses everything and begins to take steps towards a turn to the Dark Side. Fear leads to anger; anger leads to hate; hate leads to suffering, as Master Yoda says. Ahsoka, sensing this dark rage bloom in her student, decides to stop the training out of fear that Sabine becomes another Vader.
Except. That doesn't make any sense to me.
Because Ahsoka Tano is who she is.
Tumblr media
Ahsoka survived her own Purge. The fall of the Jedi Order, her home, and the institution that she pledged most of her life to, the only family she had ever known.
Ahsoka knows this pain. She is, arguably, the best suited to steer Sabine away from a potential turn to the Dark Side after her student loses everything in the same way that she did.
Actress Rosario Dawson - and backed up by the hat man himself - has stated that Ahsoka has had plenty of opportunities to turn to the Dark Side. She's fought through two Galactic Civil Wars, seen everyone she loved die, and has been betrayed by the people she fought so hard to protect.
And, yet, Ahsoka Tano never turned. She stayed on her path, long and winding as it may be, and continued to serve the Light in the best way she knew how.
At some point, she takes on Sabine as a Padawan, seeing echoes of Anakin in her. Yes, there's the anger and the recklessness there that makes Ahsoka uneasy, but that's always been a part of Sabine's character. It's nothing new. She decided to take Sabine Wren as her apprentice, anyway, and it worked fine until the Purge.
So, what happened? What changed? What was the growing darkness in her Padawan that convinced Ahsoka Tano that the best course of action was to abandon the Jedi training - abandon Sabine entirely - at a time when she needed counseling the most?
Attachment. Sabine's attachment to Ezra.
Tumblr media
Dave Filoni and the actress for Sabine Wren, the fantastic Natasha Liu Bordizzo, have both pointed out that there are echoes of Anakin in Sabine. In separate interviews, both spoke about the anger and recklessness in Sabine - but, more interesting, they did not acknowledge the major factor in Anakin's downfall.
Anakin's attachment to his loved ones. His inability to let go.
It's bizarre that they didn't talk about this and I suspect that it's on purpose. Because that is arguably the biggest reason why Anakin fell to the Dark Side. The anger and the recklessness were all symptoms of this larger issue for Anakin Skywalker.
And Ahsoka Tano sensed the same in Sabine Wren.
Let's look at evidence from another Filoni series, The Mandalorian. From episode 2x05, The Jedi, when Ahsoka is re-introduced into the Star Wars universe.
There's a pivotal moment when she meets Grogu and Force communes with him to get a sense of his history.
She senses "great fear and anger" in him at the beginning; it makes her wary, of course, but it doesn't seem to perturb her.
However, when Din asks if she can teach him, Ahsoka flatly rejects the idea for this reason:
youtube
What she says is vitally important:
Ahsoka: His attachment to you makes him vulnerable to his fears. His anger. Din: All the more reason to train him. Ahsoka: No. I've seen what such feelings can do to a fully trained Jedi Knight. To the best of us.
That's where Ahsoka draws the line in the sand; it's not the anger that scares her - it's Grogu's attachment to Din.
And, mind you, the timeline of this episode occurs after Ahsoka and Sabine had their split. So, even though she's clearly referencing Anakin here, I don't doubt that Sabine is also on her mind.
Think about it. Sabine has just lost everything - except for Ezra. The anger is something Ahsoka can deal with, but Sabine's attachment to Ezra is not; she knows it's the primary reason for Anakin's downfall and she was powerless to stop it.
That's what drives Ahsoka away. That is what scares her. She couldn't be there for Anakin, was blind to what was happening; and now, it's happening with Sabine.
The only path Ahsoka can see forward is to leave Sabine; prevent her Padawan from reaching full potential. It's an awful course to take and it leaves Sabine stranded, feeling alone, at a time when she needed mentorship and guidance the most.
But it's all Ahsoka can think of. She cares about Sabine and is too blinded by her own fears to believe in her own ability to stop Sabine from falling into the same darkness that took Anakin.
Sabine only has Ezra now with Ahsoka gone. He's the only one she can save now, the only one she can do anything for. The loss of her family has caused her attachment, her feelings for Ezra, to sharpen into something deadly: possessiveness. The exact feeling that Jedi warned against.
Why didn't Ahsoka stop this from happening earlier?
Because this is Sabine and Ezra; we know Sabine and Ezra were close, as did Ahsoka. It's probable that Sabine's feelings were gradually heading in this direction and the Purge just gave it a decisive push to the inevitable conclusion.
Ahsoka, also, presumably knew how Sabine felt the entire time and didn't want to have an honest talk with her Padawan about it.
Because it's Sabine and Ahsoka herself was still operating under the influence of Anakin's legacy as Vader; she was scared to bring it out into the open, because she didn't know what to do if her fears were confirmed about Sabine's feelings.
I mean, it's obvious that this isn't the first time they've probably talked about this, as evidenced by this scene in Ahsoka 1x04:
youtube
Ahsoka knows. She comes the closest in this scene, out of everyone else in Sabine's life, to directly confront Sabine about her true feelings for her old friend.
She knows that there's more going on underneath the surface of Sabine regarding her feelings towards Ezra. It's not a conversation she wants to have in this moment (just look at the body language), but there's no other choice - not with the stakes this high.
There is no way that this is the first time Ahsoka has broached the subject about Ezra with her Padawan and, knowing Sabine, she probably walked away from every attempt a little more worried.
But Ahsoka refused to really have that open conversation with Sabine, settling only for these half-hearted comments and, in doing so, set up her student for failure. Sabine was unprepared; had no way of being vigilant towards her worst enemy - herself.
Ahsoka's actions, caused by fear of herself and Anakin's legacy, left Sabine vulnerable to her feelings.
They had been growing all this time and now, with no one to temper them, were allowed to become something more - something dangerous.
The Purge happened. Sabine's family died. Her people died. Mandalore was lost.
After that, Sabine had nothing left to lose. Her attachment to Ezra, her love for him - it made her vulnerable to her fear. Just as Ahsoka feared it would.
Sabine couldn't lose Ezra. Her love for him - her fear of losing him, like her family - dictated that no sacrifice was too great; no cost, too high.
And Baylan used it as the perfect weapon against her. "Do it. For Ezra."
We know the rest.
Sabine gambled. The galaxy lost.
Fear won.

There’s More to You Than Your Past

a/n: i apologize for this taking so long. i started in over the summer, hinted at it, and then didn't continue it until now, but i hope it was worth the wait!
this is gender neutral. hope you enjoy this! feedback is appreciated
LIKES ARE GREAT, REBLOGS ARE BETTER ♡
Tumblr media
You, Din, and the kid spent the last few days trying to find a Jedi to train the kid and had finally been given coordinates on where to find one. You were familiar  with who you had to find and a bit nervous to find her. Afterall, it was Ahsoka Tano, your best friend who, until now, you believed to be dead.
You tried to hide your nervousness because Din always worried about you when you experienced the tiniest inconvenience. Unfortunately, your nervousness didn’t go unnoticed by him.
You and Din often spent the time in the cockpit together while the kid slept. Usually, you two would take that time to talk about whatever was on your minds, but on the way to Corvus, the cockpit was silent. You stared out the windshield, lost within the thoughts your mind produced, and bounced your leg. Din called for your attention, placing his hand on your knee to stop your leg from bouncing.
“Cyar’ika what’s on your mind?” He asked. You smiled at what he called you - a word that showed that he loved you - but your smile quickly fell when you realized Din sensed your nervousness. “You know you can talk to me, right?”
“Yeah, yeah, I know.” You addressed the second question he asked then addressed the first. “Nothing’s wrong.” Din sighed, knowing that you weren’t telling the truth.
“Cyar’ika, you and I both know that you’re lying.”
“Bo Katan, she gave us the coordinates to Ahsoka Tano.” You took a deep breath, not completely ready to tell him what’s worrying you. “I know her. We were close friends, so much so that I considered her my sister. Until now, I thought she was dead. I’m just scared she blames me and someone else for-” You cut yourself off, realizing you almost gave away something you refused to tell Din.
“For?”
You were scared Ahsoka blamed you and Obi Wan for Oder 66. You were also scared that she would hate you if she found out you fought alongside Darth Vader, the man both of you used to call a brother. But you couldn’t tell Din that, he could leave you if he found out you were once on the dark side.
“Nothing.” You let out an awkward laugh. “It’s nothing. I just-” You looked up, not sure what to say next. “Something happened that wasn’t great and I’m scared she partly blames me for it.” You stared at Din, internalizing what he could be thinking. “Never mind. Like I said, it’s nothing.” You quickly got up, trying to leave the conversation and forget the conversation. “Let me go check up on the kid”.
—————
An hour after the conversation you desperately tried to forget, you, Din, and the kid landed on Corvus.
"Well, these are the coordinates." Din said after ducking under a fallen tree trunk. "Keep your eyes open, we must be close." Din looked around, searching for any clue of life while you struggled to use the Force to sense Ahsoka. "You hear that?" The three of you looked up after hearing a strange noise, the kid obviously scared. "Don't worry." Din placed him on a big rock. "Sit right here." He turned his attention back to you before saying "Let's see what's out there." Despite not having used the Force in a while, you could sense an attack was about to occur.
"Din wait." You quickly rebutted. Din tilted his head as if to say 'yes?' He could tell you were serious, you never used his real name if you two weren't alone. "Cover his eyes. I don't want him watching two people with lightsabers fighting."
"What do you mean two?"
"Dank farrik Din, just cover his eyes!" He did as you said, right before Ahsoka jumped down to attack you. You quickly pulled out your lightsaber from its hiding spot within your clothes and ignited its red blade, counterattacking the two white blades coming towards your face. Your friend hacked away at your body, but you continued to defend yourself with your lightsaber. Taking a deep breath, you held your lightsaber with one hand and focused your energy on extending your arm that didn’t hold your lightsaber to push Ahsoka away with the Force. She swiftly got back up, holding her lightsabers in her typical stance. Din whipped out his blaster and pointed it at Ahsoka.
“Ahsoka Tano!” He exclaimed, causing her to pause her attack on you. “Bo Katan sent us.” You glanced over at the kid, happy to see that Din turned him away from the action before getting involved, and turned off your lightsaber. “We need to talk.” Ahsoka lowered her lightsabers, then turned them off after noticing the kid turning to look at what was going on.
“I hope it’s about him.” She expressed. She took a couple steps towards him, carefully examining him, then turned to look at you. You saw the realization in her eyes as she processed who you were. Ahsoka gave you a small smile and said “I’m glad to see that you’re alive.”
“Likewise.” You responded, nodding your head as a form of a greeting.
—————
“I cannot train him. His attachment to the both of you makes him vulnerable to his fears, his anger.” Ahsoka explained. “I’ve seen what such feelings can do to a fully trained Jedi Knight, to the best of us.” You perked your head up, knowing exactly who she was talking about.
“Hypocrite.” You said under your breath.
“I’m sorry?”
“You’re such a hypocrite,” you accused. “You had attachments. Kriff, we all had attachments! Obi Wan and Anakin were our older brothers, you were my sister, and I was your sibling. So there’s no way you can’t train the kid because he has attachments when you had attachments too!” You expressed, raising your voice which each word.
“Y/N, calm down. You and I both know that anger leads to-”
“In case you didn’t notice from our little fight,” you pulled out your lightsaber and ignited the red blade. “I already went to the dark side.” You glared at Ahsoka for a few seconds, but then widened your eyes at the thought of Grogu seeing your lightsaber. He whimpered in fear at the red lightsaber you held in your hand. You looked at him, studying his scared body language before quickly turning off your lightsaber and hiding it within your clothes. You left the small cluster of rocks, giving both you and Grogu the space to process what just happened.
After reaching a good distance away from the others, you crashed to the ground, tears streaming down your face. You were angry, not at Ahsoka, but at yourself for scaring the kid, your kid. You knew the right thing was to calm yourself down, but if anger leads to the dark side and you already went to the dark side, you didn’t care that you were angry.
You were snapped out of your thoughts at the noise of heavy footsteps coming closer and closer to you. You swiftly stood up and whipped around, extending your arm out in front of you, prepared to throw whoever was approaching you to the ground with the help of the Force. Once Din saw your defensive manner, he held up his arms, showing you that he wasn’t going to do anything.
“Y/N, it’s just me.” Din calmly said. You cautiously lowered your arm, continuing to stay tense and ready to defend yourself.
“Go away.” You angrily breathed. Going against what you commanded, Din didn’t leave. “Just go. The kid needs you.”
“Ahsoka’s with him,” Din explained. “And besides, you need me more.” You sat back down with Din following your actions and sitting down next to you.
“I’m sorry.” You whispered and if Din wasn’t right next to you, he wouldn’t have heard you.
“What for?”
“A lot of things. Like for scaring our kid and for not telling you about this.” You motioned to your lightsaber which was no longer hidden within your clothes. “And for-”
“Cyar’ika please. You don’t have to apologize.”
“But I-”
“Y/N, stop. It’s okay.”
“No, it’s not okay.” You took a long, shaky breath, looking down to avoid looking at Din. “How could you love someone who sided with the Sith?” You two rarely talked about your love for one another, but you found yourself bringing it up to face the unwanted possibility that Din would stop loving you.
“I love you because there’s more to you than your past.” Din placed his gloved hand on the side of your face, comfortably caressing your cheek and making you look at his helmeted face. “I love how much you care about the kid and I love how much you care about me because kriff, I really didn’t expect anyone to care about me as much as you do. I love how you give me the tightest hug every time I come back from finding a bounty, even though I know for a fact that the beskar is uncomfortable to hug. I know I don’t nearly say it enough, but I love you and I will continue loving you until the day I die.”
You pulled Din in for a hug, struggling to hold back the tears that threatened to fall down your face.
“I love you.” You confessed. “I love you so kriffing much.” Din leaned into the embrace, savouring one of the few romantic moments you two shared.
“And I you.”

House Of Memories (39/?)
Obi-Wan Kenobi x Padawan!reader
Warnings: angst, fluff if you squint, more council abuse
Summary: Ahsoka Tano has been expelled from the Jedi Order upon suspicion that she was the one who planned the bombing on the temple. You and Obi-Wan go to the trial to see what happens.
A/n: ouch... just ouch. next one i'm writing currently and it's hurting me-
also y'all if you like the story, maybe consider buying me a coffee :)
Words: 3.7k
Tumblr media
You were not supposed to be out of bed for another day, although you felt fine and did not see a point in the med droid's useless instructions. You refused to be kept in the apartment by your lonesome while everyone went to the trial.
Apparently, the near week you spent on a diplomatic mission, massive findings about the temple bombing occurred, such as suspects, devices, and even separatist involvement. Ahsoka had been the one to work most of it out, however, upon 'some wrong place, wrong time' scenarios playing out, the council was quick to blame her for having a hand in the actions. Go figure.
You knew Ahsoka would never do anything like that, and that there had to be someone framing her to cover their tracks. Too bad the council was so pig-headed, and unwilling to listen to even some of its own members. Obi-Wan was prepared to stand up for Ahsoka and make a case for her to be excluded from the investigation as a suspect entirely, but unfortunately, they had rendered him useless yet again on recount of removing himself from the investigation days before. His lack of involvement made it so that he didn't witness all the outcomes firsthand. Anakin had, but of course, the council treated him about as well as they treated you.
Upon learning more from the clues they had been given, they decided it was best to expel Ahsoka from the order until the case was terminated, with her being proved innocent. She was to stand trial against the republic, being represented by the only senator who would take her on, and she was proud to. Padme Amidala would defend Ahsoka Tano in this trial of which she knew she was innocent. The facts had been stacked against her, and every card seemed out of her favor, but everyone who knew Ahsoka, anyone who had trained with her, fought with her, or even had a simple conversation with her from time to time, knew she was not to be blamed. It was so out of her character to even think of committing such a violent and horrible crime, much less against her own people.
You wanted to go to the trial, to stand as guard by Padme and to show your support for a fellow Padawan. You just about hated the council by now. There were a select two members you could exclude from your loathing, but even they were powerless to stop this madness. The numbers were on the opposing side, with Mace Windu for the instigator, as always.
"I'm fine," you noticed it stung a little to walk as you tried to pass Obi-Wan on the way to the door. He was rather keen on your getting well without any bumps in the road, say perhaps, because you got up and started moving when you weren't supposed to. "I need to be there."
"She knows you're on her side, my love," he tried to gently usher you back to his bedroom, hoping you would accept his efforts and go without a fight. "She also knows you were badly injured."
"I've been through worse," you reminded him, and he recalled the events of the day he almost lost you forever. He didn't ever want to see that day rehash itself again. "I'm going."
There was little he could do to stop you, now. He knew you were right; you had been through worse, and often times kept fighting through it.
"Well, don't try and outwalk me, you aren't going alone."
He made it to the entranceway before you did, pulling your cloak from the rack and wrapping it around your shoulders, allowing your arms to enter the proper sleeves before he paused, looking down upon your face, still stern from the argument moments prior, but softening as he took each cheek in his palms. He smiled and shook his head before pressing a kiss you your nose. It was cute, and his beard tickled, as it was getting longer again. He always looked at you with such pride, and you wondered what he could possibly be thinking. Of course, since your signatures are practically bound for all time, you could simply tap into his mind and find out, but you didn't want to intrude. He trusted you more than anyone in his life, and you would never do anything, even accidentally, to break that bond.
He pulled your hood over your head, and again kissed the top of it, right by your hairline. It was a small and usual sentiment, made nearly every time you left the apartment together, and yet, you would never get used to the feelings it protruded inside of you. You wouldn't be able to stop smiling afterwards, and as you ventured into the halls, everyone seemed to think you were in an incredibly good mood. Perhaps to them you seemed a rather cheery person, bright as you entered the room. Today wasn't as bright, though. The smile lasted all of but a few moments before you remembered where you were going, and under what circumstances.
"What will happen to Ahsoka if she loses the trial?" You were uncertain of how your friend would get on without the order. Like you, she had been brought here at a very young age and grew along with the teachings and training of the Jedi. The temple was her home, as it was yours, and you knew she would never do anything to destroy or even deface it.
"The republic will have to decide her fate, the order has since lost jurisdiction over her now that she's been expelled. I've tried my best to find other witnesses from the day it all happened, but I've been rather unsuccessful. With all the evidence stacked in the republic's favor, I fear what she may endure," he replied, stroking his beard, keeping his pace steady beside yours, which was only a small bit slower due to your healing process.
You turned to look at him with furrowed eyebrows. He'd spoken of witnesses, as if he hadn't known a very crucial part in this.
"Didn't Anakin tell you?"
"Tell me what?" He stopped in his tracks and faced you, ready to hear of this information which had apparently been passed over his head in the few hours it came about.
"He's gone to find Ventress. If he can get a recorded confession, that would be enough to save Ahsoka, wouldn't it?"
He widened his eyes at hearing that his former Padawan had gone away from the temple yet again without telling him. Why did he not tell him things like this anymore? He had deemed it necessary enough to tell you, but not him.... strange.
"She has the reasoning; her agenda has never ceased to be in alignment with the Sith and Separatist plans. It could be enough, but I highly doubt she will give herself up to the republic for the sake of an innocent Padawan," he stroked his beard and mimicked your stance before shaking his head and turning back to walk. "She'd sooner die then help a Jedi's cause."
You heaved your shoulders in a sigh, following him down to the elevator, the trial would begin soon, and you wanted to be there when everything went down.
-
Standing for hours at a time was taking its toll on you, and you regretted choosing not to sit in the stands with everyone else in the court. Obi-Wan had tried to offer you his chair on the balcony, but Mace Windu found it unacceptable for a non-member of the council to take a seat where everyone could see. Mace knew of your injuries, and he knew you were still recovering. When Obi-Wan tried to reason with him over it, his response was 'If she did not wish to stand, she would have stayed in the temple.'
You assured Obi-Wan you would be fine, although by now you'd gotten a bit tippy on your feet. You glanced at his chair longingly, wishing you'd been so lucky as to acquire one. Your gaze moved to his lap, where he sat upright, legs spread and arms on the rests beside him. If it weren't for the council, you'd be sat there right now, letting yourself rest from the constant standing that had continued for hours. You had to widen your stance to keep from falling over. Your footing and balance had not been the problem, but instead the weakness your body was still enduring. You did your best to keep alert, because the contents of this trial were becoming even more important with every second passed.
"The members of the court have reached a decision," one of the judges stood to his feet in the balcony across from the one you resided in, now.
This was it. This was the time you'd been waiting for, the outcome on the verge of being spilt and yet, you could not bear to hear it. You knew already that they had found her guilty. In the eyes of the republic, she looked incredibly incriminating, someone vile with plans of destruction. Not Ahsoka, never Ahsoka.
Chancellor Palpatine arose from his throne like structure, receiving a data pad with the transfer from the judges.
"Ahsoka Tano," he began, his voice echoing in the large court for everyone to hear clearly, although you were a bit distracted when you sensed a familiar presence coming near. Anakin... "by an overwhelming count of-"
"Chancellor!" And not a moment too soon, the voice of your old fellow Padawan was heard, interrupting the announcement of what you were sure was Ahsoka's certain doom.
You smiled, knowing he'd done it, he'd found a way to prove her innocence, although being trailed behind him was not Ventress, but... Barriss? Surely, she wasn't the one behind all of this. She had such strong beliefs in the light, and hated violence all together, even when used for defense. You'd not known her very well, she was closer to Ahsoka's age group when training with younglings, although you'd had a few encounters, all of which showed nothing hostile or even aggressive from her nature.
"I should hope you have a reason for bursting in on our proceedings, Master Skywalker."
The Chancellor spoke as if he was full of obnoxity by the intrusion, but really, anyone could see by the look on his face that he was intrigued by whatever the young man had discovered.
"I am here, with evidence and a confession from the person responsible for all the crimes Ahsoka has been accused of," he stepped aside, letting the sentinel guards reveal the Jedi who stood among them, her head dropped in shame and regret. "Barris Offee, member of the Jedi Order, and traitor."
The crowd gasped out in surprise, but all those in favor of Ahsoka sighed breaths of relief at hearing the news. Anakin was reliable, you knew he'd figure it out, but did he always have to cut it so close to the end?
"Barriss, is that true?" Ahsoka sounded devastated, perhaps even more so than she would have been had the court rendered her guilty. They were good friends, you'd seen them together often, if only from afar. You couldn't imagine the betrayal she must have felt, first from the council, and now from an ally, or something she thought was one.
"Tell them the truth," Anakin looked at the traitorous Jedi with narrowed eyes, his patience for her existence wearing incredibly thin.
You took a few steps closer to the edge, knowing the council was far too invested in this development now to care if you were seen with them. It wasn't like you were the one on trial here.
"I did it," she began, her tone starting as if she was apologetic, but soon turning for the worse when she continued. "Because I have come to realize what many people in the republic have come to realize. The Jedi are the ones responsible for this war."
That statement struck a nerve with you... the Jedi have always taught you peace and harmony for all the years you've been in the temple, but then they would send you on endless missions, acquiring violent strategies on how to defeat the enemy, and take their forces.
"We have so lost our way that we have become villains in this conflict, and we are the ones who should be put on trial... All of us."
Again, you heard her words from a personal view. As someone who has seen first-hand the council's ineptness to make proper decisions based on real morals, and the way they fought with great effort to keep themselves as soldiers in this war, you could agree that it had gone way too far.
"My attack on the temple was an attack on what the Jedi have become: an army fighting for the dark side, fallen from the light that we once held so dear. This republic is failing; it's only a matter of time," she finished her speech in a blaze of glory, and though it had resonated with you, you were happy for it to be over. It was giving you far too much to think about and not enough time to process.
As someone who'd danced with the dark side on several occasions, you knew what it wanted, what it craved. Chaos, it craved chaos. This war was chaos, and the Jedi Order wasn't doing anything to stop it, only feeding it, more and more until it grew to the size and stature of a universal conflict. It would not end until the Jedi withdrew themselves, and that was something you could be certain of. Win or lose, the republic relied too much on the Jedi to defend them, making them the generals and commanders of their army that had long since been created for them.
"Such incivility," Master Mundi shook his head, ready to put the girl in prison and bring about the next thing of importance on his daily agenda.
"She's right," you whispered, but given that you stood now between Obi-Wan and Mace Windu, the latter snapped his head up to find you, looking down on the scene with a sorrowful look on your face.
"What did you just say?" he was ready to hash out another round of insufferable confrontation, but you weren't focused on him one bit.
"She's right. We're only waging for this war, not fighting against it," it was spoken softly, and the sincerity you held in your tone shown him you were deep in thought. Even Obi-Wan was concerned over your words. He had done his best for all the years of his life to do what was right, but now he didn't know what that was. Whatever the force led him to, that's what he wanted to choose.
"You'll be wise to keep your opinions of this matter to yourself, lest you end up in her position."
His threat did not go unnoticed by Obi-Wan, and since you stood between him and Master Windu, he grabbed your hand out of sight. You knew it would never come to fruition; you would sooner leave the order then let the council keep wronging you in the way they wronged others. It would not continue; this horrid cycle of treatment would end today.
"She makes a point, we have fallen from the true teachings we once cherished," your master spoke up beside you, dropping your hand before anyone saw it connected with his. "Perhaps in order to prevent future catastrophe, we should look into making things different."
Mace would ignore his suggestion, and this argument as a whole. There was really no need for it to happen right now, or at all. If it came up again later, it should be dealt with in an esteemed manner.
"Take her away," Chancellor Palpatine waved his hands, and the girl was taken out of sight.
You wondered if she would be imprisoned, or put to death, as the penalty would have been had Ahsoka been found guilty. Only time would tell, but you didn't have time to waste.
You wanted to see Ahsoka.
-
You would categorize your three least favorite feelings in the world as follows: when you thought that your master, as well as the love of your life was dead, when you nearly turned to the dark side and left the teachings you grew up on, and when you'd been made to sit outside of the council room while important meetings were being held without you.
The third one happened so often you figured you should have become used to it by now, but you couldn't. It was just as nerve wracking and anxiety bringing each and every time.
It was now, that you had been stopped at the door, and not been let in to hear what was to become of Ahsoka, that you truly pondered why you even stayed. Why did you continue to let them walk on you, disrespect you, and treat you as if you were mud on their boots? You worked tirelessly, using the powers they taught you to wield, and for their bidding. The mission always came first.
You had been feeling for a long time that the force willed you elsewhere, but you couldn't seem to gather the courage to just leave. You'd never been given that push, but when you saw Ahsoka walk past you, out those doors on her own, and without her sabers or head chain, you knew she was through. Just like you were about to be.
"Ahsoka, wait."
She turned to face you, a sad smile adorning her lovely face. She figured she would be saying goodbye.
"I take it things didn't work out," you knew that the way you'd described it was an understatement, but it was all you could say.
"I can't stay here. Barriss was right, the order has changed so much, and I don't want to be a part of what it becomes from this war."
You dropped your head, understanding what she spoke of more than she could have thought you would. You knew that as long as the council members controlled the ranks, and as long as the war raged on, the Jedi Order would continue to become more corrupt until there was nothing left but a pile of rubble, where the skyline of Coruscant split in two.
"I'm coming with you," you said, looking her back in the eyes as they widened in shock.
She never could have believed that you would want to walk away from the Jedi, the only place you'd even known. Though she was young when she was brought to the temple, the people of her home world still loved her, and looked upon her as one of their own. You didn't have a home world. You weren't born on Mimban, no one usually ever was. You had no family, and no one to look upon you as their own. This order was what you strived to be a part of, training since you were a youngling to become one of the greatest the galaxy had ever seen. Why would you want to throw that all away?
"You can't be serious," she shook her head in disbelief. It didn't seem right to her that you wanted to come along, although it was truly what you wanted.
"I am, I'm sick of putting my life on the line only to be turned around and treated like a doormat. I've been walked on for the last time," you confessed, your tone becoming overwhelmingly intense while you thought about the council, still in the room behind you, ready to deal with you as soon as they were ready. They wouldn't get the chance.
"Could you really leave, though? What about Obi-Wan?" she kept her voice down, although you were alone, the hallways of the temple were known for echoing even the gentlest whispers into the air.
Obi-Wan....
"I'll be fine on my own, and I can still see him as long as I remain on Coruscant," you explained. This half-assed plan was not very well thought out, and to be quite frank, you were making it up as you went. You were never impulsive, always thinking things through and finding the best solution, but here you stood, lightsaber in hand, about to throw it all away.
"You would never get to be with him the way you are now. Think about this, it doesn't sound like you."
"It doesn't sound like you either, Ahsoka. If you leave now, you'll be on your own. If I come with you, we might make an easier time of it," whether this be the will of the force or not, you had the urge to go, to turn and never look back.
She was conflicted. It would be nice to start over in the galaxy separate from the Jedi, and if someone was there to navigate the new territory with her, perhaps it wouldn't be so bad... but she knew it was selfish to want you to leave with her. You were being impulsive, and dull minded with making such a quick decision. She knew there was only one way to get you to stay, and though it would hurt to say goodbye, she wanted you to keep going on your path, the one that would lead you to greatness.
"Talk to him," she said sincerely, nodding towards the council room which had yet to adjourn. "If you decide to leave, I'll be in the alley by the station till tonight. If you don't show, I'll know you chose to stay with him."
She turned without another word and walked away. The doors to the council room opened, and Anakin ran after her, but you stayed put, thinking about how you would even bring this up to your Master.

Ocean Eyes {Anakin Skywalker x GN!Reader}
A/N: Welcome back, dearest reader! I wrote this on the spur of the moment late last night and this morning, the song came to me: ocean eyes by Billie Eilish
I do not give permission for any of my work to be copied, published and/or translated on any platform including Tumblr.
Summary: You watch the rise and fall of your best friend and love, Anakin Skywalker.
Word count: 1336
Warnings: mentions/depictions of violence, reader is blind
GIF not mine, credit due to stylesluxx
Tumblr media
I’ve been watching you for some time
Can't stop staring at those ocean eyes
You wait patiently in the sparring area overlooking Coruscant. Obi-wan Kenobi was on another domestic dispute mission which left you in charge of training his Padawan while you were away. Of course, he could have taken him if he wished to bore Anakin with yet another domestic dispute. These opportunities allowed you time with your favorite Jedi in training.
You were only knighted months ago at the young age of 21. Anakin was jealous of course, but you had to remind him you were older and therefore naturally ahead of him. You and Anakin grew up together in the Jedi temple, growing closer over the years. Of course, the two of you danced the fine line between friends and something more. You knew you both made a commitment to the Jedi but there was no denying your feelings.
“You know, if I didn’t care for you, I don’t think I’d put up with such an excuse.” He would say. You heard his footsteps long before he entered the room.
“You walk heavy, Anakin. Does something trouble you?” You ask, turning to face him. He lets out a soft sigh, looking away for a moment.
“Would it be worth it to lie?” He smirked. You chuckle and shake your head, approaching him as you reach for your pocket.
“I would like to try something different today.” You revealed a blindfold, raising it up and tying it over your eyes. You step back, allowing your bare feet to read the room and energies.
“This lesson is no different than the training droids we used in earlier training. Only this time, there is a live target.” You explain with a nod, giving the padawan permission to begin.
“Aren’t you going to use your lightsaber?” Anakin asked, a little confused, “I’m not going to fight a defenseless opponent.” He argued.
“This isn’t about me being defenseless Anakin. Be mindful of the force. The Force will guide me. Let’s begin.” You insist as the buzz of his lightsaber alerts you. He rushes toward you, preparing the first blow.
~
Ten years have passed and much has changed between you and the Skywalker. After the bombing of the Jedi Temple hangar, your sight had been taken from you. Of course, you knew Ahsoka, Anakin’s padawan, to be innocent from the very start. You never once blamed her, but you felt a change in Anakin after she left the Jedi order. He came to visit you frequently in the medical bay shortly after the attack.
Burning cities and napalm skies
15 flares inside those ocean eyes
“How do I look?” You attempt to joke. Beneath the wrappings, your eyes were shut and heavily scarred.
“Would it be worth it to lie?” You could hear him chuckle. You feel a dip in the bed beside you, and you weakly push yourself up. There’s a moment of silence between you two as the heavy truth lingers. You had lost your sight. You could sense the weight that Anakin had been carrying. Guilt, Anger, Hate.
“No use… how is Ahsoka? I heard they’re putting her on trial.” You quickly change the subject, hoping to deflect the attention from yourself.
“Yes, and the Council has already refused to listen to your testimony!” Anakin fumes. You reach for his hand.
“Ani-“
“I have to prove her innocence, {Y/N}. She’s my padawan, I know she wouldn’t do this.”
“Be mindful of these feelings. It is only natural to feel anger towards the Council right now. You will learn the truth and bring justice not only to me, but to Ahsoka and the others who suffered that day.” You tell him with a great sense of confidence.
“Thank you, Y/N, for always having confidence in me.” Anakin spoke, placing a gentle kiss to your bruised knuckles.
All of those blindfolded lessons with Anakin had served their purpose.
Now, you were hiding in the harsh desert world of Tatooine. You had made a home for yourself just outside of Mos Espa, filled with small wares and simple comforts. You made a living trading and selling scavenged parts and wares to various people of all walks of life. After the events of order 66, the Jedi had scattered across the galaxy, going into hiding from the rising Sith Lord, Vader. There were rumors of a fellow Jedi in the Jundland Wastes, not that you’d ever seek him or her out. Safety was not in numbers among the Jedi these days. The less attention you attracted, the better off you were.
Your heart ached at the thought of the Sith Lord you had once considered a great friend, perhaps even more. Every flashback, even these odd ten years later, would still make you wince.
You ‘saw’ what he had become that night, and it frightened you.
You really know how to make me cry
When you give me those ocean eyes
You were in the Jedi Temple teaching a group of younglings when the clone troopers entered your classroom.
“Yes?” You asked, feeling as though something was off. You could hear the moving of their blaster rifles and you immediately jumped out, saber drawn and deflecting their bullets. The children had all hid behind you, mortified. After defeating the clones in your classroom, you swiftly led the children through the halls, taking down any clones that had crossed your path. Luckily for you, being blind has taught you to rely on your other senses. You could feel footsteps and hear from a long distance away.
You gathered the younglings that you could find, and had almost made it to the temple entrance when he entered. You almost couldn’t tell it was him, there was such a disturbance surrounding him. You felt something evil and elusive. A sith.
“Children, go!” You shouted. Luckily, a few other Jedi had been nearby. Two had broken off to usher the younglings to safety. Whoever it was, they walked closer and without much warning, grabbed your hand. You tilted your head, confused and felt his skin.
“Ani?” You ask, composing yourself and gripping your saber tighter with your free hand.
“What are you doing here? I thought you were-“
“No, I’m here. Ani, please. Do not lie to me.” You speak softly. With a single hand, you reach out and place a hand on his chest. You feel the turmoil, the whirlwind of emotions. He gently grasps your shoulders.
“You shouldn’t be here-“
“Anakin, I won’t allow you to do this.” You insist, taking a step back as tears come to your eyes, “Snap out of this. We can help you… I can help you.”
“The Jedi cannot help me no more than they can help themselves, {Y/N}. Join me, together we can rule the galaxy-“ He takes a step towards you, hopeful. You back away, trying to increase the distance between you two.
“Ani…” You warn, raising your saber slightly. Your fingers tighten around the grip until your knuckles turn white. You couldn’t believe what you were hearing. “Whatever path this is, I cannot follow. For the sake of myself, the younglings-… I loved-“
“Then you’ve given me no choice.” His face darkens.
“Don’t try it.” You warn. His lightsaber hums to life and you nod to him. You return your saber to its hilt on your waist and take a deep breath.
“So be it.” You respond as he charges toward you. You do not move, but allow the saber to pierce your stomach. A small grunt of pain escapes your lips as he pulls the saber out, looking down as you collapse to your knees. Your clouded eyes search desperately for him. Anything that the Force would allow you to see, but nothing. He pushes you down to the floor with the tap of his foot before moving onward, leaving you for dead. Or so he thought.
I’m scared
I’ve never fallen from quite this high
Falling into your ocean eyes

Rey Gives No F*cks About the Grandfather Paradox
Okay so since nobody’s suggested a fic under these terms, I ended up expanding on this post on discord and things snowballed. We kept to the basics of the entire plot revolving around Rey really hating her grandad and leveraging her blood relation to not be unalived about it.
With contributions by @atagotiak, @dracothulhu, @thepallaspalace, and several others. The title comes from @gelpenss.
The basic thing I absolutely need is this: Rey gets thrown back to the middle of the clone wars, and the subsequent plot leans in really heavily on her being, genetically-via-clone-dad, the daughter of the guy running the entire galaxy.
Nobody knows what to do with her.
The timing is mid-TCW for the past (because I want Ahsoka there) and vaguely between Episodes 8 and 9 because I... never watched E9 and don’t want to worry about the timeline. The only things that matter is that Luke is dead (he can die as he did in canon) and that Rey knows she’s Palp’s granddaughter (not the way she does in canon).
We'll say Luke found out from Anakin's panicked force-ghost and just went "well, fuck, okay, I should tell her this before she ends up in a situation like mine and finds out mid-battle or something."
Luke, prior to time-travel: Okay, so, now that I'm dead I know some things I didn't before. Like who your parents were. In the interest of full disclosure because I was in a very similar situation and I don't want you learning the way I did, I'm just going to come right out and say that your father was a clone was Sheev Palpatine. Rey: ... Luke: Are you okay? Rey: I don't know who that is.
(She grew up on Jakku, the history education was a little subpar.)
Setting The Scene
Imagine Rey showing up during or immediately before the clone wars. There’s this phenomenally powerful feral teenager from a desert backwater who tells you that if you ran a paternity test, it would probably pop up the Chancellor. She may or may not bring up cloning. She accuses said Chancellor of being a Sith Lord.
Your other phenomenally powerful feral teenager from a desert backwater, who may not be a teenager anymore but only barely, is very offended by this because Palpatine’s a Very Nice Old Grandfather Figure, but also he’s a little full of side-eye because if the blood test comes back as proof, then Palpatine had a kid and didn’t even know about them, or lied to Anakin, and that’s! Bad! Family’s important!!!
Palpatine hears about this daughter he apparently? Has? And is very confused because the timing doesn’t match up with ANYTHING he was doing, so the kid isn’t natural, and he says as much. (There is an explanation! It’s not a correct explanation, but he does come up with one.)
Finn and Poe and BB-8 all get dragged along because why not have the gang there? Nobody that’s already born, because [handwave] conservation of souls or something, IDK, point is the only person dragged along that’s even remotely close to already existing is Luke’s Force Ghost, who mostly hangs around begging Rey to be less impulsive. Finn is good because he is a nice polite boy, but for actual useful information they need Poe. The unfortunate situation is that the three do not land together. They land at the same time, in completely different corners of the galaxy. This means that nobody is there to curb Rey being her most impulsive self.
Time travel Rey knows two things. Luke’s dad ends up evil. Palpatine has always been evil.
She can solve one of these problems by killing the other, yes?
Rey: Ready to Rumble
See, the initial idea was this: Rey tried to break into the senate to kill Palpatine, got arrested, and then used the "he's biologically my father" card to get out of jail free. (Force Ghost Luke follows her like “please take five seconds to think this through.”)
But.
But.
It would be very, very, very funny if The Force just dumps her in a flash of light in the senate building and she just attacks Gramps on sight. Just a shouted "YOU!" and no-hesitation attempted murder.
Palpatine has no idea what's going on.
Rey took maybe two seconds to get identity confirmation and then started swinging.
Tumblr media
[Image Description: An individual in a green metal helmet with an eye slit, holding a pistol. In the upper left, upper right, and lower middle are the phrases “I do not know who I am...” “I don’t know why I’m here” and “All I know is that I must kill.” End description.]
Of course, she gets arrested. There are Master Jedi in the Senate. There are Clone Troopers. Palpatine isn’t the weak old man he pretends to be. Of course she’s stopped.
But she isn’t executed in time for Palpatine to stop her from ruining his entire reputation.
Immediately after Rey fails to kill her Shitty Granddad, Luke's ghost shows up and begs her to not talk about the Sith thing because it will completely undermine everything she's trying to do. Pass off the attempted murder as something else!
Rey, panicking: "that fucker left me on a desert planet for 10 years!" "You owe me 19 years of child support you son of a Hutt!"
The Jedi have to do the investigation, because the girl showed up with a laser sword, and the conversation is, uh... interesting. (“Where did you get that lightsaber?” “I got it from a mysterious old pirate lady I never met before. I don't know, I was being shown around by a smuggler and a Wookie.”)
Interviewer: Why did you try to assassinate the Chancellor? Luke: Say it wasn't assassination. Rey: It wasn't assassination. Int: You weren't trying to kill him? Luke: Assassination has to be politically motivated. Rey: This was, um... not political. Assassination is political, right? Int: You mean this was personally motivated? Rey: Yes. Int: I see. What personal motivation? Luke: Jakku! Rey: He's my grandfather. Int: ... Rey: Possibly father. Nobody was very clear on that. Int: ... Luke: Tell them to run a paternity test. Rey: Oh hey, a blood test would tell us which, right? Int: ............ Rey: I spent ten years as an orphaned scrapdealer on Jakku. He's my father. I'm kind of a little angry. Int: ........... Luke: Good job, kid. You bought yourself some time. Int: I'm going to get a medic to see about that parternity test.
Obviously, it comes back positive. Congratulations, Sheev, you’re the father.
Rey comes with a ready-made built-in excuse for hating Palpatine that nobody can question or fault her for!
Rey, pouring Truth into the Force: I didn't even know I was related to the Chancellor until a few months ago, but it's his fault I grew up the way I did, and he should take some responsibility!
The entire thing is mostly kept hush hush but someone leaks it to the press and Palpatine's ratings tank.
"Chancellor, I think we'll need to waive family visitation until she wants you a little less dead." "I would like to find out why she wants me dead, and indeed, where she came from." "...sir, for your own safety--"
Who would win? A master plan years in the making spanning decades of manipulating and work? or One (1) paternity test
"Okay, so, Rey Palpat--" "Ew, no, I don't want his name." "You--okay. Sure, we can understand that. Is there a name you would prefer to put on the paperwork?" Rey, who would have gone by Skywalker in honor of Luke but can't do that when Anakin is right there and all: "Can I think about it?"
Rey: I don't know what I want my last name to be but I know I don't want his, and most of the people I’d want a name from have famous families like you... Luke's ghost, pointing out the Literal Nobody that she cares about a lot: How about Solo? Rey: ...Solo, then.
(A few months later she runs into Poe again and he offers for Finn and Rey to both take his name because honestly they need SOMETHING but at that point she’s already decided on Smuggler Dad.)
Backtrack a bit. We’ve got a bigger cast.
They all arrive separately. Poe, for one, does better than Rey, who is aiming for a murder, but not quite as well as Finn, who is currently being adopted and hidden like a secret cat by a bunch of Alpha Clones on Kamino. He vibes with the names-or-numbers thing. He doesn’t necessarily tell them where and when he’s from, but he’s very sweet and a great liar and they adopt him wholesale anyway.
The Finn situation is just... "Buir Ti, we need you to hide this man, we've decided he's our little brother but if Nala Se finds out she'll make him leave."
Of course, this leads into Shaak Ti teaching Finn how to Jedi.
Maybe consider Finn needing to almost be tricked into learning Jedi things because he willfully forgets it could apply to him. Finn does not like to think of himself as special, which is super valid, but frustrating for Shaak Ti when it comes to, you know, getting him to acquire knowledge. Finn's training at some point is "here, levitate objects with the Force to entertain the tubies." It’s a lot easier to convince him to practice when it involves the babies.
(Everyone on Kamino looked at Finn and went “oh I love him I’m keeping him and teaching him things.”)
(He’s just very lovable.)
Poe, meanwhile, buys the trust of Anakin Skywalker via R2D2 declaring BB-8 the absolute most baby of droids. R2D2 met BB-8 three hours ago but.
"Hey Obi-Wan this is Poe I met him like five days ago but R2D2 says he checks out because his droid is a baby." "That's nice, Anakin, did you know the Chancellor has a daughter who tried to assassinate him in broad daylight yesterday? Because guess who had to stop the Chancellor from getting assassinated by his daughter in broad daylight yesterday."
A summary so far:
Finn, on Kamino: Hey, um, I don't know where this is, but it's not where I was a few minutes ago. Do you think you could get me a comm? What's your name? Poe, on [dice roll] Denon: Oh, hey, you're General Skywalker? Nice to meet you, I'm so sorry about my droid, she's a little excitable and thought your R2 unit looked like a friend of hers-- Rey, on Coruscant: DIE, GRANDFATHER
Finn: [Peacefully vibing on Kamino, unaware of the chaos and bonding with the clones] Poe: [Trying to explain how he knows someone who tried to kill the chancellor and defend Rey] Rey: [Arrested for trying to kill the chancellor]
Just... just...
Anakin: Some guy ended up lost on base yesterday with his droid, how’s your day going? Obi-Wan: I had to stop someone who claims to be the chancellors daughter from murdering the chancellor after she seemingly blinked into existence in the Senate building. Poe: 😐
(Poe: Oh, so that's where Chaos^2 went.)
Poe: In her defense, she is his... well we don't know if she's his daughter or granddaughter, but she's definitely related to him, and she definitely grew up in a shitty situation that was his fault, so...
(Poe is trying very hard to explain this and not get arrested on the military base.)
As you’ve probably guessed, what's especially funny about all of this for me is the fact that Palpatine is fully aware that this girl shouldn't exist, but can't find a single piece of evidence about where she came from. He didn't start any experiments that could result in a female child, and he didn't have sex in that period of time, so where the hell--
Rey spends so much time in jail... BUT they do eventually assign her a Jedi Master. Possibly before she actually proves her evil grandfather is in fact evil. Most votes went to either Plo Koon or Obi-Wan. Plo, because he’s dad-shaped, and Obi...
"Obi-Wan, you already raised one feral desert child with implausible amounts of power, you handle this." Rey in return is very "Sweet, you vaguely remind me of Master Luke," and nobody knows who the hell she's talking about. Obi-Wan is NOT on board with this plan, she'd really be better off with Plo or like........ Mace.
Reunion Tour
What I need out of this is the eventual Finn and Rey reunion scene that is just excited screaming while someone in the background explains to Shaak Ti that yes this is apparently Palpatine's terrifyingly force-sensitive daughter who hates him.
(Finn senses Rey’s approach and just. Gathers the everyone to wait. He’s just :D REY MY FRIEND REY GUYS MY FRIEND REY IS COMING.)
Anakin shows up with Poe--just a guy who signed on to the military, no big deal--and then Poe and Rey are EXCITED and everyone's just like "Cool, how do you know this literal terrorist child?" And Poe has to scramble and "Uhhhhhhhhhhhh she saved my droid from a scrapheap once and BB-8 is basically my child so I owe her one."
Rey knows that Anakin ends up evil so she’s maybe not actively hostile but definitely very “I’m watching you.” That said, she vibes with him on a lot of things that he maybe doesn’t actively notice.
Rey picks up a snake, snaps off the head for venom avoidance, and starts biting off chunks. Obi-Wan's reaction: [undisguised horror] Anakin and Ahsoka: Ooh, where'd you find that? (Obi-Wan: And now I’m up to three feral children.)
What Does Palpatine Even Do?
OBVIOUSLY at a certain point, Palpatine is just phoning up every ally he has to figure out who broke protocol to synthesize a daughter for him.
So of course, Palpatine blame Plagueis.
She'd have been born five or so years before Naboo, just a few years younger than Anakin. It's such an EASY theory to build a conspiracy around. It is ENTIRELY WRONG, but it’s plausible! And anyone who might have been involved to say otherwise is probably dead!
A random bio-kid shows up you can’t possibly have contributed genes to? Maybe it’s the evil bio spark that did it.
Palpatine tries to placate her with the ‘my genes were stolen for an experiment and I didn’t know’ thing. It doesn’t work because her actual main complaint is he’s evil in her future but he tries.
It'd be a struggle to even get access to her, because of the aforementioned “maybe don’t try to talk to the daughter(?) that hates you” thing, but you know who Palpatine does have access to? The Chosen One.
Rey kind of decides on her favorites early on (she gravitates to Dad Energy and Sad Old Men so Plo and Obi-Wan are on her list, and that means decent time around Anakin and Ahsoka). It's really easy to talk Anakin into helping to some degree because "he'd like to connect to a daughter he never knew" and "a child of her power on a planet like that, you'd know her struggle, my dear boy" and so on. Anakin tries to connect! He tries to play up Sheev’s kind political work and how it can’t have really been his fault! It doesn’t work. Rey does not believe a word of it. Mostly she doesn’t even seem to hear him.
Rey's just like "...oh right, you're the melted mask that Kylo Ren was always ranting about," which means absolutely NOTHING to Anakin, but he mentions it to Palps, who loses his goddamn mind trying to figure out what she's talking about, because it also means absolutely nothing to him.
Here’s the thing: Rey’s already decided that Obi-Wan is cool, because Luke said so, and Plo Koon is dad-shaped, and she also gravitates towards earnest kindness in general, like she made friends with Finn real quick, so Ahsoka? Already getting along great.
She doesn’t dislike Anakin, really, he isn’t evil yet, he’s just... meh. She’s a little suspicious and she likes him less than the others but... Anakin.
Rey, to Anakin: You are my least favorite. Anakin, to Palpatine: YOUR DAUGHTER HATES ME???
And he goes from “she’s a lil standoffish” to “she doesn’t like me” to “she hates me” as is normal for Anakin.
It’s just an escalation of this one time Palpatine wants Anakin to not have rifts and trust issues with a person, at least not until later, because he needs information.
Meanwhile, that very moment, Rey is just like "huh, nobody here is listening to me about how make a sixth-hand carburetor work, where's Luke's dad?"
Anakin is venting to Palpatine about how hard it is to talk to Rey, and she's over in the Temple just like "Hey, that guy was useful last time, I should ask him," but also she only ever thinks of him as Luke's Dad.
(At one point, Obi-Wan is having a bit of a break down, and then Anakin starts having a breakdown about that, meanwhile the clones are (badly) trying to hide Finn behind their backs, Rey is watching Ahsoka practice and being like "I want two lightsabers," and Poe is trying to keep R2 from stealing BB-8 and Force Ghost Luke is just face palming in the background.)
(Rey deserved a saber staff, maybe one that can detach and turn into a jar’kai set. Possibly a pike. Mostly I just wish she got more chances to whack things with a big stick.)

How the clones would ask you out (Genderneutral)
Includes Rex, Fives, Echo, Jesse, Kix, Cody and Wolffe
Warnings: None
Rex
Poor Rex would be so, so nervous
It took pep talks vom Anakin, Ahsoka and several of his brothers to get up the courage to actually ask you out (though not all of them were all that helpful)
Rex wouldn’t ask you out in public or at work, he’d go to your flat instead
His strong knock doesn’t betray his nerves, but the second you open the door he cannot remember what he was going to say for the life of him
Luckily he was trained as a soldier his entire life and it only takes him a few second to forget about his nerves and continue with his plan
“I was wondering if you’d like to go on a picnic with me tomorrow?”
A picnic, Ahsoka had convinced him, would be the perfect first date. The two of them had even decided on a nice place in one of Coruscant’s few parks together
(Plus Rex likes to bake and cook, it’s his way of dealing with the stress of war (and his brothers’ shenanigans))
“I’d love to.”
You have never seen such a big smile on Rex’s face
“Great. That’s great.”
You chatted for a few more minutes before Rex had to excuse himself. Just as you were closing the door you stuck your head out again.  “Rex?”  “Yes.”  “Is this a date?”  The small blush on his face was adorable.  “I’d like it to be, if that’s fine with you.”  You smiled.  “It’s more than fine.”
Fives
If anyone has an actual pickup line it’s Fives, not in a creepy way though, he’s cute about it
The two of you have been flirting back and forth for a while now and Fives, after finally no longer denying his feelings, decides to ask you out
He walks up to you with every bit of confidence he can muster
“Hey handsome, what brings you here?”, you ask. Your usual greeting, but Fives doesn’t reply in the way he usually does (”Hey mesh’la, just coming to admire the view.”)  “Since you make my heart sing I was wondering if you’d like to accompany to a concert tomorrow.”
You could tell that he wasn’t joking this time, but still decided to have your fun with him.
“So sorry, I already promised another handsome young man with a number as his name to spend the day with him.”  As soon as the words left your mouth the smile fell from Fives’ face and instantly made you regret your words.  “Oh, baby, no. I was only joking. I’d love to go out with you.”  The smirk was back and brighter than ever.  “It’s a date!”, he said a bit louder than he had to.
He’d kiss you on the cheek before saying goodbye.
(And maybe he even whispers suggestions for what you could do after the concert in your ear.)
Echo
Much like Rex, Echo is quite nervous
At first he was glad to have Fives on his side to give him advice, but he soon learned that not everything his brother suggested would go down well
He’d wait for you at work and offer to walk you home, because someone once told him that travelling in the same direction eases conversation
When you exit the building your eyes immediately fall on Echo, who is standing nearby with flowers in his hand.  “What are you doing here?”, you ask with a smile on your face.  “I... well... I saw these flowers in the market downton and they made me think of you.” He hands you the flowers, suddenly even more nervous now that he doesn’t have anything in his hands.  “That’s so sweet”, you say as you lift the flowers to your nose. “I was just on my way home, would you like to join me and come in for a cup of caf?”
The two spend the rest of the day together. Walking home, drinking caf, cooking dinner. After a while Echo’s nervousness fades and only returns when he realises it’s time for him to return to the barracks.
“Actually I had another reason to come to see you today. I was wondering if you’d like to go out with me sometime. Like on a date. If you would like to go on a date with me.”  You laugh and the sound Echo usually cherishes breaks his heart, which you soon realise. “Oh, Echo, honey, no! I mean yes, but I just thought that today was kinda like... a date... I’m sorry, I was just assuming, I should have actually asked you.”  A smile mirroring yours appeared on his face.  “So... How about a second date?”
Jesse
Jesse only realises that he needs to ask you out as soon as possible after a particularly tough mission. A lot of his brothers died, even more got hurt, and he spent a few days in the medbay as well.
The second he’s back on Coruscant he comms you asking where you are and no matter where you are or what you’re doing, he’s on his way to you as soon as you answer.
“Stars, Jesse, what’s gotten into you?”, you ask when you open the door to his rapid knocking.  “I like you, I really like you and I don’t want to die without ever asking you out. So, (Y/N), will you go out with me?”  At first you don’t know what to say.  “Of course I’ll go out with you. But maybe you should sit down for a minute, you don’t seem like yourself.”
After just a few minutes and a cup of herbal tea the two of you were talking and joking like always. That is until you remember an appointment you had to hurry to make.  “I’d hate to throw you out, but I really need to go.”  “That’s fine”, Jesse says with a smile. “How about I pick you up tomorrow at seven for our date?”  You nod your head smiling.
Kix
Kix asks you out more or less on accident. It’s been a long day, he’s tired, and all he wants is a relaxing evening with you.
“Hey, Kix, you wanna come to 79s with us?”, Fives, who just popped into the medbay, asks.  Kix shook his head. “I really don’t. If it were up to me I’d spend the evening with some takeout and (Y/N).”  “(Y/N)?”, Jesse follows up.  “They help me relax like no one else and that’s what I need after stitching you idiots up all day”, Kix says, glancing at Fives and Hardcase at his last words.  “Then how about we grab something to eat and spend the evening on my couch?”, you offer.  Everyone turns to you, who had just entered the room. Echo bursts in a second later. “Sorry, I tried to stop her from coming in.”
Kix blushes like crazy, you weren’t supposed to hear that. He tells you as much.
You walk over to where he’s sitting, miraculously the others have disappeared, and place a hand on his shoulder. If it weren’t for the armour covering him you would have loved nothing more than giving him a soothing massage.
“You know what? I’m here because I wanted to ask you out, but I guess you just did that for me.”  He chuckled. “Guess so. Let’s go, I cannot wait for our date.”
Cody
Cody would be so smooth when asking you out, mainly because he got advice from Obi-Wan, who flirts with everyone and could teach him a few good moves.
His tactic is pretending you already agreed, which is why he spent the afternoon transforming his room into a small movie theatre for the two of you, complete with snacks and drinks and a holoprojector.
He then makes his way over to your apartment to actually ask you out. And though he hadn’t been nervous all day, the second you open the door he’s at a loss for words.
“(Y/N), cyare, I was wondering... No, that’s not it... I’m here to ask you... No, wait... Would you like to...” Though you can’t help but find his out of character rambling cute, you want nothing more than to put poor Cody out of his misery.  “Would you care for a glass of water?”, you ask, opening the door further to invite him in.
For some reason the cool water helps him sort out his thoughts and he can finally ask the question he’d prepared earlier.  “Would you like to watch a movie with me tonight?”, he asks, his voice smooth and steady.  For a fraction of a second there was something that might have been disappointment in your eyes, but then you nodded.  “Sure. Why don’t we invite Waxer and Boil as well?”  Cody had been quite sure that you’d agree, but the second part caught him off guard. Maybe he should have been more obvious with his intention.  “Actually, I was hoping it’d be just the two of us.”  You raised an eyebrow.  “Wait a minute, Cody, did you just ask me on a date?”  A shy smile made it’s way on his face, though to his credit he didn’t blush.  “I did.”  He had no idea how it was possible, but the smile on your face was even brighter than his own.  “In that case, yes! I’d love to watch a movie with you.”
Wolffe
The main reason Wolffe was reluctant to ask you out was not nerves, but rather not wanting to admit his feelings, not wanting to admit a weakness. It was actually Plo Koon who, through ambiguous comments, convinced him to just do it.
He didn’t want it to be a big ceremony, he wasn’t the type for big gestures, but that night, as you were sitting at 79s with the Wolfpack and your eyes were glittering in the multicoloured lights and your perfume made its way to Wolffe’s nose, he just had to ask you out before it was too late, before anything happened to either of you or someone else asked you before he did.
And so, when most of the others were scattered across the bar, he asked you if you’d like to get some air with him. He may not be one for big gestures, but he’d be damned if he asked you out in a stuffy bar surrounded by his drunk brothers.
Outside, he realized was not the perfect environment either. There were still drunk clones around and instead of stuffy it was cold, cold enough to make you shiver in your thin clothes and Wolffe wished he had a jacket he could give you.  “I’ll make this quick so you can go back inside. I-”, he stopped himself.  You were suddenly a lot closer than just a few moments ago, he could feel your warm breath on his face and it made him lose all focus.  “Yes, Wolffe?”, you questioned.  He cleared his throat and continued. “I was hoping that you’d like to go on a date with me sometime.”
The atmosphere may not have been perfect, neither were his words, but your smile was and it made up for everything else.  “I don’t know, Commander, what’s in it for me?”, you asked with a raised eyebrow. “I don’t know. Dinner, maybe flowers or chocolate”, he replied, trying his best to hide the sudden insecurity.  You crossed your arms over your chest and sighed. Wolffe knew what was coming next, he knew you’d let him down and it would be awkward. He never should have asked you out.  “You know, I had been hoping you’d say The pleasure of my company or something like that, but I suppose chocolate will do.”  A smirk had made it’s way to your lips and a low chuckled escaped Wolffe’s.  “Is that a yes, mesh’la?”  “It is.”

Alright, let's talk about attachment
I can’t find clear information on when exactly the non-attachment rule was added to the code. It was either soon before or soon after the great sith war. Either way, for the VAST majority of the existence of the Jedi, it wasn’t a thing. Jedi got married and had families for over 20000 years, then added the non-attachment rule, which ultimately led to their destruction. And before anyone tries to tell me I believe they deserved to be genocided, I don’t. I have never actually seen anyone say that, but I see people argue against it constantly, and imply anyone who doesn’t think the Jedi were perfect and blameless thinks that. I don’t think they deserved to die, I think they needed to change. And Yoda says that himself, many times. The Jedi weren’t prepared for the return of the sith, or the war. They had separated from the military 1000 years before, and the galaxy was in relative peace all this time, so the order’s role changed to one that worked very well with their rules. Detachment meant they could be impartial when overseeing political disagreements, lack of possessions meant they would be focused on the mission at hand and not prone to taking bribes, and distancing themselves from the general population meant they were more or less uniform, and could be trusted not to side with someone for personal reasons.
All of this falls apart once they become an army again. Impartiality is a flaw when they have to defend one side at all cost and not even allow themselves to consider compromise. Lack of possessions and attachment to people means they are prone to taking unnecessary risks, because they have nothing to lose, and do things like send 14 year olds into battle, thinking of the “greater good” over the safety of children. And the order being a monolith, with set rules and philosophy distinct from the rest of the population meant the Jedi trusted Dooku long after they should have stopped, because he used to be a Jedi after all, surely he still follows the code.
Now, I am not saying non-attachment is always bad, I think it served a very specific purpose in the order, and to some extent worked for many years. However.
Humans are a social species. Human babies NEED physical contact and affection to develop physically. Children need a stable, strong, and supportive relationship to their caregiver to properly develop psychologically. And after last year I don’t think anyone will argue that adults don't need connection with other people just as much. And not just shallow interactions, but open affection and love. Love of any kind, because claiming that the Jedi only forbid romantic love is just untrue. I think people tend to forget that "Compassion, which I would define as unconditional love, is essential to a Jedi's life. So you might say, that we are encouraged to love." isn’t the actual doctrine, it’s a literal pick up line that Anakin uses on Padme.
Ahsoka and Obi-Wan both get criticized by other Jedi for their entirely platonic attachment to Anakin, and vice versa. Now, humans are the most common species in the galaxy, and in the Jedi order. Many other species are near-human, so it’s safe to assume at least some, if not most of them also need that companionship and affection to develop and live happy and stable lives. I do believe that non-attachment is a valid philosophy and chosen path in life if done carefully and within reason, I just don’t think we have a single major character that actually applies to. And chosen is an important word here. Jedi don’t get much of a choice. I’m not trying to start the baby-stealing debate here. I hear the argument of ‘force sensitives are dangerous if left untrained, and said training should start as early as possible’. I think finding a way to deal with that problem was an insanely complicated decision, and taking children into the temple as young as possible is not a bad solution. I don’t entirely agree with not letting them see their families later, (especially since in legends Obi-Wan was allowed to visit his family, which implies Anakin couldn’t go free his mother specifically because he was already too attached), but the idea is sound. I do also understand that no one is forcing Jedi to stay in the order and they can leave for whatever reason at any time. But that isn’t exactly a free choice either. Leaving the order means leaving the only home you remember, the only people you know to make your own way in the galaxy, and staying with those people means you can never fully love them. It’s a difficult solution to a complicated question, and for the most part, it worked (not always, and not exactly as intended, but I’ll come back to that.) Children grew up in the order, were trained to control themselves and the force, and became Jedi who were impartial, patient, and balanced. But everything falls apart when you introduce someone who wasn’t raised in the temple.
In The Rising Force, 13 year old Obi-Wan had barely been off Coruscant in his life. He describes himself as sheltered and unaware of all the pain in the galaxy, and says it was done on purpose, so younglings wouldn’t have to face the dark side before they were ready for it. But Anakin had seen nothing but darkness, pain and injustice before he joined the order. He was severely traumatized, and while the temple might have had some ways of dealing with trauma and PTSD in adults, they had no experience in treating the same in a child, because their children were kept safe and protected. The idea of letting go of your pain and fear only works if you know you have a safe place to come back to, if you’ve spent the first decade or so of your life in the most protected place in the galaxy. Anakin spent the first decade of his life as a slave. He couldn’t let go of his fear, because fear was what kept him alive. Fear is not irrational if you are constantly in danger, it’s what protects you, keeps you aware of the limits you can push before you get punished. And that mindset doesn’t fade just because you’re out of that situation, especially if your only family, the closest person to you, is still facing that danger every day.
I’ve seen people use every excuse possible to explain why Anakin didn’t see his mother again to avoid blaming the council, including, and I shit you not, “He just didn’t have her comm number”. But to me that seems disingenuous, when we see in his first meeting with the council that they already consider him too attached. It's one of the main reasons they don’t want him to be trained, so it seems logical that they wouldn’t allow him to see her once he became a padawan. I also want to mention that what Yoda says, “Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering.” Is just… blatant catastrophizing. Right? Like we can all see that the escalation is not rational there at all. Maybe it could apply to something else, but not to a child who just left his mother for the first time in his life and went from a tiny dustball in the middle of nowhere to the most populated planet in the galaxy, and is now being tested by a bunch of old people with the power to decide his future. Obviously he’s afraid, and obviously he’s not dealing with it the way Jedi younglings do. That, in and of itself doesn't doom him to fall. Also what Yoda misses there is that suffering leads to fear. This is a closed loop, and one that has defined Anakin’s entire childhood.
Let’s come back to how the system doesn’t always work. The way I see it, most of the characters we see are attached. Obi-Wan is considered one of the greatest Jedi of his time. Windu describes him as “our most cunning and insightful Master—and our most tenacious”. And yet, he was not insightful enough to look past his love for Anakin, his attachment, and see how close to falling he was. Ahsoka was so attached to Anakin she refused to listen to Maul on Mandalore, refused to even consider the posibility he could fall. She was arguably the person with the best shot at preventing the empire forming at that point, and she loved anakin so much she doomed him and the entire galaxy. Aayla admitted to thinking of Quinlan as her father, and also, apparently in legends had a long relationship with Kit. Even Mace didn’t follow the code when he decided to kill Palpatine, which directly led to his death and the empire. He also indirectly caused the war to start. According to wookiepedia “Windu viewed Dooku as the shatterpoint of the entire Separatist movement, which meant striking Dooku down would theoretically end the imminent clone war before it even began. However, Windu's prior attachments to Dooku clouded his judgment.” I’m not even going to mention Kanan and Ezra, who are obviously family.
So basically everyone is attached and lying about it. How has no one thought that maybe this isn’t the healthiest way to live and tried to change the code? Well, I have a theory, and it’s Yoda. He was 900 years old when he died, and was on the council for the vast majority of his life. I can’t find when exactly he became grand master, but it’s safe to assume he held some degree of power over the entire order for most of a millennium. At the end of TPM he tells Obi-Wan “Confer on you the level of Jedi knight, the council does. But agree with your taking this boy as your padawan learner, I do not.” Then he reverses that decision by himself. So either he has the power to veto the council’s word, or who gets trained is entirely up to him. Either way, not great, considering his lifespan is so much longer than most Jedi, and therefore his approach to life is vastly different. Humans need love and closeness to live. However, while we don’t know much about Yoda’s species, it probably isn’t a social one. You could count all the characters of this species on two (human) hands, and Yoda lived in complete isolation for 20 years on Dagobah, and only went a little bit insane. They are naturally rare, and therefore probably lead solitary lives in nature. Moreover, Yoda outlived every master who trained him, and almost every padawan he trained himself, (there’s a great post about that here) so even if he wasn’t naturally predisposed to non-attachment, he would have had to learn it to deal with all the loss he had to live through over the years.
A lot of people think that Anakin fell because he had attachments, which is not true. He fell because of how his attachments played out and/or ended. The most obvious example being Palpatine, who used Anakin’s trust and friendship to groom him for over a decade and actively undermine Anakin’s trust towards anyone else, especially the order. (more on that here). Obi-Wan refused to take on the role of a father figure that Anakin tried to shove him into, so he turned to someone who did accept it. It’s not Anakin’s fault that it turned out to be the worst person alive, nor can we expect him to notice when he’s known Palpatine since he was a child. Another failure of jedi non-attachment, because a loving parent or guardian would not let their child be used as a bargaining chip when the most powerful politician in the galaxy blackmailed the order into allowing him to meet Anakin regularly, but a distant teacher and detached knight thinking of the greater good might. The other attachments Anakin had were taken from him (Shmi and Ahsoka, the last orchestrated by Palpatine who was fully ready to give her the death penalty to make Anakin more unstable), or he was forced to lie and hide them, compromising his vows as a Jedi (Padme) or refused to choose Anakin over the order/their principles (Obi-Wan, and again Ahsoka, and to some extent Padme, but he’d already fallen then). All these people had every right to make the choices they made, but it wasn’t the act of loving them that made Anakin turn to the dark side, it was how those attachments played out.
I think everyone agrees that Yoda is as detached as a Jedi should, if not can, be, and that didn’t prevent Dooku from falling. We see that explored in more detail with Barriss and Luminara. Luminara is detached and distant, she’s fond of Barriss, but their relationship is not familial in the slightest, and she repeatedly shows her willingness to put the greater good and the mission before Barriss’ safety and even life. And yet Barriss still falls. A complex combination of events and choices caused each of those characters to fall, not the simple presence or absence of attachment.
And lastly, just as attachment can make you unstable if your relationship with that person is unstable, it can also make you stronger. There is a reason Anakin and Obi-Wan were the face of the army. Not only did their obvious attachment (the strongest between two jedi we are shown) make them more relatable to the public, but they, when working as a team, are shown repeatedly to be more or less undefeatable. They spend half of aotc flinging themselves off great heights because they know the other will be there to catch them. They know from years of experience that they have backup and they know each other well enough (or force bond communicate) that they can trust the other will be where he needs to be to help/save them. Contrast that to how Windu and Palpatine fight in rots once the window breaks- very carefully, clearly holding back to keep themselves safe. Neither of them has backup until Anakin arrives, but until the last second they can't be sure which one he will choose. Anakin and Obi-Wan fight the same way on Mustafar, especially when balancing on that thin bridge. No acrobatics, swinging arms to keep balance, keeping their distance, being almost uncharacteristically careful compared to how they treated heights in aotc, in tcw, and on the invisible hand in rots, because they both know the other won't catch them if they fall this time.

I am worried that after the last response you’ll just respond with more ablei and make fun of me again, however I’m really hoping you’ll consider being kind instead. Please try to remember that not everybody processes things in the same way or perceives tone and behavior the same way, and please also just open your heart a little and consider that many people have very legitimate reasons to be wary of authority figures. Instead of telling us what worthless failures who will never amount to anything and we won’t make it i. adulthood, please consider that maybe not everyone had Good experience is with authority figures. Try having compassion for others, like the best of the Jedi would. So I’m gonna try this again.
Even if somebody argues that being cold to Anakin when they first meet him as a nine-year-old is justified, once his training was started and he did become a Jedi, how come he He wasn’t ever shown the same empathy and support that other Jedi showed each other? It seems like the only one who consistently cared about him was Obi-Wan, meanwhile we do see how warmly the other Jedi interact with each other. Why didn’t anyone except Obi-Wan ever treat him that way?
So, I am not asking this to be condescending or to make fun of your questions/opinions, I am asking this because I want to know from your point of view where you actually see examples of the Jedi not treating Anakin with empathy in Canon material, or at least can you please provide me with specific moments where other Jedi were treated with different or better empathy than Anakin? Because I can provide numerous examples where Anakin was included and encouraged and cared for by more than just Obi-Wan. But I'd like to see where you are coming from and what shaped your opinion on this (legitimately I am curious).
Here are my top 10 examples, but maybe you see these scenes differently than I do.
Example #1: AOTC. Obi-Wan confides in Mace and Yoda that he doesn't think Anakin is ready for an assignment on his own and both Mace and Yoda tell Obi-Wan to have faith in his apprentice.
Example #2: AOTC. Anakin slaughters the Tuskens after his mother dies and both Mace and Yoda have tears in their eyes when they sense Anakin's pain. Neither one talk about how dare Anakin feel something, they seem worried about him.
Example #3: AOTC. Yoda literally lets Dooku escape in order to save both Anakin and Obi-Wan from being crushed - thus throwing away their chance of stopping the war before it began.
Example #4: TCW. Anakin is invited to join in many meetings and meditations with the Council even though he is just a Knight (such as finding the kidnapped children).
Example #5: TCW. Mace works with Anakin quite often, and they are on friendly teasing/joking terms with one another (much like Anakin and Obi-Wan). Mace is high ranking enough that if he truly hated Anakin he wouldn't have to work with him.
Example #6: TCW. Plo Koon helps guide Anakin through Ahsoka's disappearance and encourages him to have faith she'll survive because of the training he instilled in her.
Example #7: TCW. Both Yoda and Mace feel Obi-Wan is wrong to lie to Anakin about his "death". They don't like his choice to deceive Anakin because they know it would hurt Anakin deeply.
Example #8: TCW. Yoda requests Anakin's help and states that his independent thinking is what makes him special. Yoda also in his vision decides to save Anakin rather than defeat Sidious.
Example #9: ROTS. Yoda takes time from the busy war to sit down with Anakin and talk about his dreams and feelings. He tries to guide Anakin through learning to let go of his attachments just as he would any other Jedi.
Example #10: Mace tries to protect Anakin by telling him to stay behind from arresting the Chancellor. He even says "for your own good". If Mace didn't care about Anakin he would've made sure to bring him along, cause wouldn't the Chosen One be helpful in defeating the Sith? But he cared about what that would do to Anakin.
----
I hope this answer was a little more understanding than my previous one. I am always happy to discuss Star Wars and the Jedi with people, I'd love to know what you think about the examples I gave.
Again, I have a very different perspective on this story than most I think. I was 19 when TPM came out (much closer to Obi-Wan's age) so I didn't grow up with Anakin, TBH I never ever saw him being a victim of Jedi neglect or cruelty. I've also been in a leadership role since I was 25 years old - I have been the brunt of employees yelling at me because I would have to write them up for excessive tardies or because they were rude to customers. I had to find a way to draw the line between being a Manager and being a friend - it is not an easy line to draw. So, perhaps it's easier for me to see the Council's side of things because I understand sometimes leaders have to make choices that aren't popular, the Jedi Council is no different in that sense.
But I can see where you're coming from, can I ask for the same respect in return? Maybe you've had bad experiences with authority figures, but not every one is going to be like that...there are good ones out there who do care.
Thank you for the discussion! And thank you for your time.
May the Force be with you!

Hello and how are you? I was wondering if you would write prompt 14.“It’s not bad to cry, in fact I think it makes a person stronger.” for Rex? PG is fine, maybe Rex the one crying. Possibly with a Jedi reader and female pronouns? Or gender neutral if you prefer. Please and thank you, but if not no worries!
A Life With Just You
Of course! Thank you so much for the ask! Got a tad carried away with this one because I really wanna comfort someone rn. (Specifically my friend struggling with some family issues.)
Rex x Fem!Jedi!Reader: "It's not bad to cry, in fact I think it makes a person stronger."
Warnings: Mentions of character death. I may have swore in it??? Honestly I don't remember.

(This has nothing to do with Ahsoka, it's just the only sad Rex gif I could find rn)
Tumblr media
You guided down the halls of the ship with soft and gentle foot steps. You were looking for a certain someone. Someone you knew for a fact was hurting. One of your closer friends, Captain Rex.
Some Jedi you were 'close' with, often questioned you for hanging out with a clone on your free time. While others like Anakin, Ahsoka, Obi-Wan, and even Master Plo Koon himself. Were all thankful you took the time out of your day to make Rex, and other clones feel like actual people. People instead of cloned weapons.
You had checked everywhere you thought he would be. The fresher, the barracks, training hall. But you hadn't found him, yet. It was honestly concerning you. Especially with the recent loss of his brother, Fives. The subject was even a tough one for you, so you couldn't even begin to imagine the pain that Rex was going through. Especially with witnessing it all.
You went to stop by your room. Put your robes up so you wouldn't be carrying them. Relieving some of the weight on your shoulders. Though you froze as you tapped in your codes. Feeling a gentle touch to your shoulder. A touch that had you turning your head to meet the eyes of the slightly taller blond.
"There you are," you spoke. Turning to smile at the captain of the five-oh-first. The door to your room swishing open. "I've looked everywhere for you." You admitted.
The captain only nodded. A small huff leaving his nose. "You have?"
He sounded almost shocked. The way he phrased it sort of hurt you. It made you feel as if he thought he didn't deserve it. Or that you were lying.
"Of course, Rex, oh dear.. Come inside, would you?" You spoke. Your gentle words easing their way into his heart. A small smile gracing his handsome face. You had to fight every urge in you to not kiss his forehead in the open hall. Doing such would risk someone catching the simple act of affection.
"I couldn't say no to you," he murmured. Voice soft and quiet.
He isn't normally loud. Not like his brother Hardcase was, or even Jesse is. But he isn't ever this soft spoken as he is now. If anything his voice is more stern, or even shy. Not secluded and upset like now. The change of tone to his voice only making your chest squeeze more with pain.
You nodded, forcing a small smile back as the two of you snuck into your small room. Taking his hand to lead him to the couch once the door was shut behind the two of you.
"Did you want some tea? Water?" You spoke, but before you could even step foot towards the kitchen he was pulling you down onto the sofa.
You had to admit, you loved that he could resort to you for comfort, but you hated he hadn't removed his armor yet. Or even let you remove your own. What little you wore, at least.
"Rex," you spoke quietly. Hands moving to his back as he laid on top of you. His arms strong arms around your waist. Face buried in the crook of your neck.
"Rex, look at me?" You asked. Hands sliding up to cradle the back of his head, but he didn't budge.
"I can't," his voice was merely a whisper. His body trembling ever so slightly as he clung to you. As if he let go you would disappear from his grasp.
"Rex, what's wrong? You can talk to me, you know?" You reassure him. Rubbing his scalp with one hand. Feeling as he slightly relaxed at the small touch.
"What if I lose you, too?" The words came out of the blue. Yet you expected it. You could almost feel his insecurities and worries leaking from his exhausted brain. Moving to press a soft kiss atop his head.
"Rex, you have me, I'm all yours." He grumbled under his breath at those words. Grip tightening, and it had you shifting to avoid being pinched by the plastoid on his arms.
"No," he snarled a bit. "I mean- I do, I know. Because you have me, but that’s not what I mean." He told you. Keeping his face hidden from.you as he spoke.
"Mesh'la.. What if I can't save you? Like I couldn't save Hardcase, and Fives, and- And all my brothers. What if I lose you, too?" That was the first time you'd heard him say Fives name since the incident. Rubbing his neck as he eased against you.
"Then you'll have to live with it." You were blunt. You didn't know what else to exactly say. You couldn't tell him nothing would happen, because that would most likely be a lie. Even with your bluntness, it seemed to ease him.
"You can't save everyone, Rex." You told him. Shifting upwards. Which had him moving himself as well. So he was now sitting next to you. Facing forwards on the couch. His face, facing away from yours. Tear tracks running down his sun kissed skin. Eyes puffy with sorrow and regret.
"Rex, look at me," you spoke, asking again. Reaching out to run your fingers over his cheek.
"I look ridiculous, don't I?" He asked with a laugh. Turning to face you, slightly. Though his eyes avoided yours.
"A soldier like myself, crying over the inevitable." His words made you nearly tear up. You absolutely despised how people made it seem tears meant signs of weakness. That it meant soldiers weren't soldiers. When in fact, you thought it brought out who people really were.
"Rex, look at me." Your voice was more stern this time. Young both hands to cup his face as his eyes slowly panned over to stare back into yours.
"Listen to me, it's not bad to cry, okay?" You told him. Wiping some tears from his face using your thumbs. "In fact, I think it makes a person stronger." You informed. Leaning forward to press your forehead against his. Watching as he brought a hand up to hold one of your hands to his face. Using the other to cup the side of your own face.
"What did I do to deserve you?" He muttered back. Both of you smiling weakly.
"Rex, you deserve the world," you responded, making him chuckle a bit. Moving your hand and bring it to his lips so he could kiss your palm.
"Then I guess you're my world," he cooed against your hand. Smiling softly as your own bashful smile grew.
"Oh, is that so?" You chuckled. Watching as he pulled your hand down to his lap to intertwine your fingers.
"As a matter of fact you are, you make me want to win this war. Every time I feel like giving up, I think of a life without fighting, with you." He almost whispered. Still sniffling a bit. Eyes shyly looking around. Then back onto your eyes.
You had a look of pure love and adoration on your face. You never really liked being a Jedi, you were basically forced into it. So the fact Rex wanted to settle down. Start a life with you. For you. When the war was over? That had your heart racing. You were the one tearing up now and smiling like an idiot.
"Cyare, are you okay?" Rex asked. Mimicking your actions from before and catching a single tear that rolled down your cheek with his thumb.
"I love you, so much, and you have no idea how much you wanting to live a life with me, means to me." You gushed. It was so random, and ideal. The words making Rex's eyes go wide. He always thought you would think his words were nothing but words. That your guys relationship was a one time deal, during the war and only during the war. But this had his hopes up and his mind planning your future more already.
"No, you have no idea how much it means to me." He corrected. Kissing your lips softly. Your arms wrapping around his neck while he hand the side of your face with one hand. Then your hip with the other.
"Beautiful girl," he cooed, kissing your lips once more. "Starting a life with you is all I ever dream of, and you wanting the same with me? That drives me absolutely wild." He told you, and that had you smiling even more.
You tugged on the armor of his chest piece. Kissing the corner of his lips. Your eyes fluttering shut as he held you close. "Can you take all this off? I wanna hold you." You licked your lips as you waited for him to comply. Though it really didn't take long. Especially since Rex is now in the mood to feel you. Without his armor hiding your gentle touch and soft skin from his own skin.
The first time he felt the softness of your skin was the day he decided that was his new favorite feeling. Stripping from the plastoid and his gloves. Then watching as you did the same. Dropping your robes over the back of the couch. Then taking his hand and leading him back to the your bed.
It was like dragging a love sick teddy bear around. His larger hand locked with yours. Thumb grazing your skin. "What type of home would we have?" You knew questions like this you probably shouldn't ask, but then again. You probably shouldn't even be holding the hand of a captain. Let alone the captain of one of the most well known clone units.
He sighed. Climbing into the bed with you. Lying on his side, you doing the same. Both of you facing one another with arms and legs intermingled. Though far enough apart you could still see one another's face.
"Maybe a farm," he told you. Rubbing your side with soft swipes of his hand. Eyes looking slightly about you as he thought about it. Tucking his one arm under his head as a cushion.
"A farm?" He nodded at your question. Eyes gazing down to you.
"Yeah, you remember Cut? He was the clone that left the GAR. He settled down. Had a farm, wife.. Kids." The word rolled off his tongue like an unasked question. Wonder dancing in his eyes at just the mention of little ones.
Rex had always had hopes of having a family of his own. Little pups running around. Maybe even an army of little ones, if he was lucky. He never brought it up, though. Scared of being shot down at just the mere mention.
You smiled though. Sensing his worry at just the mention of the word. Leaning forward to kiss his chin.
"You want kids?" You asked. Noticing how he shifted and grew anxious at the question.
"I mean, no, well, I wouldn't mind," he spoke a bit quickly. His hand on your hip halting its movement.
"Not until the wars over, of course. So I know they'd be safe. Be able to have a normal life." He admitted. "But only if my partner wants them. Of course." He muttered. Glancing down to meet your eyes. Worried he said too much or not enough.
"Hmm, kids would be fun." Those simple words from you had his lips curling up in a grin.
"Yeah, they would be." You snickered. Kissing his lips once more.
"I'm sure your partner would be lucky to have little Rex's running around." You teased, rolling your eyes slightly with a grin.
"Only if your my partner would I feel lucky," he spoke gently. Caressing your face again. Your eyes staring up into his with a small smile.
"What?" You heard him just fine, but his words still shocked you.
"I want a family with you, on a little farm. Out and away from the city. Where we can just live out happy lives. Away from the war." He told you. Rolling the two of you over so he was hovering above you. Hands on either side of your head.
"And?" You pried. Expecting him to continue the ramble. Waiting for him to gush on about the future he had for the two of you. All stored away in that mind of his.
"And, would you do me the favor of making me the luckiest clone-" you shot him a look. Rex clearing his throat with a small smile. "Man," you smiled at his correction. Awaiting the rest of his spew. "In the galaxy, by living a life with me after the war?" He asked. Watching as you stared up to him with a partially opened mouth.
He was a bit worried you would say no. Even if he knew you wanted it just as bad. That you just admitted to loving him nearly five minutes ago, but the thought of rejection always resurfaced in his anxious mind.
"Rex, I'd love to be the luckiest girl, living by your side. In some shitty farm, with an army of kids." You joked with an eye roll. Nearly gasping as he leant down to capture your lips with his own. Your arms moving to snake around his neck to pull him closer. Eyes falling shut as the kiss continued to deepen.
Your life was complete. Even with the raging war, the deaths that kept coming, and the thought of dying yourself. Rex was there for you, and you were there for him. It was all the two of you needed to keep fighting. To keep living.
Even without the domestic life, and a public relationship. The two of you had more than you could have ever once dreamt of. You had comfort, love, and each other.

When you saw Din return, holding the child in one hand, and the ancient Mandalorian weapon in the other hand, relief washed over you. Your whole body deflated and you let out a sigh you didn't even know you were holding in.
"Where are the others?" Din asked, his voice gruff as he pushed a binded Moff Gideon to the ground. You gasped when your eyes met with the ex-ISB officer who you knew had given Din so much trauma and hurt. There was a dark and menacing glint in his eyes that you could see right through.
"With Boba on the ship. They didn't think you'd come back," you admitted sheepishly, biting your lip as you cautiously looked back up at Din. "But I believed in you." You desperately tried to search through his visor and locate his brown eyes.
You wanted to cry; your little family had been restored. Grogu had been rescued. You were once more a clan of three. And now, things could be different. You had seen the beauty that was hidden beneath the beskar. You had seen Din for who he really was. You imagined starting a new life with him and the Child, far far away and out of any danger. You could be happy. Of course, you had to deal with Moff Gideon first.
You took a step closer to Din, breaking any remaining distance and placing a hand on his chest. "I'm so glad you're safe." Din revealed with a shaky exhale as you caressed the child. You wanted nothing more than to curl up into his arms and tell him how much you loved him, how proud you were. Grogu was so lucky to have a father as loving as Din.
"We can leave now," you smiled weakly. "We can be free. Go to the lake county on Naboo and start a new life. Live in peace." You had half forgotten Moff Gideon was even there. You just wanted to live in the moment with Din. All you could see was the love of your life holding his child. Everything else in your peripheral vision was a blur. It didn't matter.
"How cute," Moff Gideon's lips curled into a snarl. "The Mandalorian has a lover? What an unexpected twist of events." Din knocked Gideon to the ground the second those malicious words left his mouth, leaving him doubled over and grumbling in pain.
"We don't have time to stick around, we have to go." Din told you, grabbing your hand and interlocking his gloved fingers with yours. You were ready. You were so ready to leave this life behind and be with Din and Grogu forever. It was the happily ever after you knew Din deserved more than anyone else in the galaxy. Before the blast doors could open, the nav system began to beep hysterically, illustrating that a single light Starfighter was boarding the same Imperial cruiser you and your little family were on.
"It's an X-Wing…" you were rendered speechless. Din considered who it might have been. Had Cara comm’d the New Republic from the ship? If so, why was it only just one fighter? Could it have been the likes of Trapper Wolf who had granted Din a favour back when he encountered trouble on the ice planet of Maldo Kreis? Din was truly clueless.
Grogu began to coo and shuffle around, prompting Din to carefully place his son on the floor. Grogu waddled over to you by the terminal, gargling and pointing his finger up at one of the screens. "What is it buddy?" you asked, leaning down and picking up Grogu. Grogu guided you to the CCTV where you saw a cloaked figure emerge from the X-Wing and ignite a lightsaber. Your heart stopped. "Din…" you said nervously, your grip tightening around Grogu defensively. "You might want to see this."
Din approached the small screen and looked closely. "A Jedi?" he asked, although it almost sounded rhetorical. He looked back at Grogu who was already staring up at him. "Did you… did you bring him here?" Din asked the child, his voice breaking slightly. Grogu made a small and indistinguishable noise in response.
"No," you placed a hand on Din's shoulder with comfort. "No, Grogu wouldn't…" you reassured him.
"The seeing stone," Din deadpanned, his gaze not tearing from his son once. He remembered Ahsoka Tano's words. "Grogu reached out with the force and if a Jedi felt his presence, they'd come looking for him," Din turned to you, his body stiff and his voice shallow. "And they've come."
Your lips parted slightly as you turned back to the screen, watching as the mysterious figure roamed through the halls of the Imperial cruiser. Part of you deep down knew that Din was right. It was the only plausable explanation, but that didn't mean you wanted it to happen. You knew it wouldn't be long until you were found.
"Din, let's go," you said with teary eyes, feeling your anxiety bubble up in your stomach. "Please Din? Can we just go."
Din clenched his fingers into a fist. "No." he said sternly, his voice returning back to being gruff and modulated. He was doing what he always did when fear consumed him. He'd shut himself out and go into hunter/protector mode. He'd become the fighter he was trained to be since he was just a young boy.
"Din." you hated the way his name fell from your tongue, sounding needy and desperate, but you were just as afraid. You didn't want to stay any longer. You had what you needed; Din and the child. You didn't need anything else. You could go now.
Din picked up Grogu and nursed him in his arms, holding him close to his chest. Just like always, Grogu curled up into his father, taking comfort in feeling his beating heart, learning the true feeling of unconditional familial love.
The blast doors shot open and the cloaked figure entered the room. Your fingers dropped to the blaster in your holster as he approached you both. The man put his lightsaber away, signifying surrender, and pulled down his hood, revealing himself. He looked slightly older than you, with pale skin with mousy brown hair. He looked like he had seen a lot in his lifetime.
"Are you a Jedi?" Din asked eventually, breaking the silence through the need of confirmation.
"Yes, my name is Luke Skywalker," he introduced with a small nod. You recognised that name… Skywalker, perhaps from old tales, the likes of myths and folk stories. You didn't spend long contemplating the mystery man's identity. There were more pressing matters at hand and so you opted to brush it off completely. "I have come for the child," Luke announced and Grogu turned from Din, his ears cocking at the mention of him and looked at the man with curiosity. "Hello little one." Luke smiled.
Grogu cooed in response before turning back to his father with big pleading eyes. "He doesn't want to go with you." Din gulped, his heart aching. There was no way to be sure, Din could never know exactly what Grogu wanted. But he was aware of the bond he had with his son, now more than ever he was aware. He knew that there was no way his son would want to leave him. Din loved Grogu. Din loved Grogu with every inch of his being.
"He wants your permission." Luke explained, and Din turned back to look at the little green bean in his arms. His… permission? "He is incredibly strong with the force and without learning how to utiIize his powers he can become a danger to those around him… and a danger to himself. It's important that he understands the nature of the power he possesses."
Luke's words became a blundered fuzz in the back of your mind. This was Grogu— this was Din's little boy. When Din looked into Grogu's eyes, he saw nothing but memories. From the pair of them sipping spotchka, to chasing frogs and playing in the hull of the Razor Crest, everything just felt so distant. Din took a deep breath, his finger softly brushing against Grogu's cheek.
"Hey go on… he's one of your kind," Din winced at his own words. One of your kind— something the Armourer had implanted in Din's head all those months ago. "I'll see you again. I promise."
You felt your heart shatter in your chest. This… wasn't meant to happen. It wasn't meant to end up like this. You wanted to speak, you wanted to say something and put a stop to this absurdity. You knew better than anyone that Din needed Grogu and Grogu needed Din. It felt like your throat had closed up, like you could hardly breathe. All you could do was stand there and watch it play out.
Grogu reached up with a small wail, his green claw tracing the curves and ridges of Din's beskar helmet.
Din knew exactly what his son wanted, and right now, Din was certain he wanted it too. Just for once, he wanted to look at his son with his own eyes. Not the eyes blinded by his visor blade, Din wanted the child to know his face. Recognise him. With a hiss and a click, Din removed his helmet. You swore your heart stopped upon seeing him again. Brown eyes, but this time they were glazed with tears and there was nothing you could do about it.
Grogu reached back up and rested his claw over Din's jaw. Subconsciously, Din leaned his cheek into Grogu's hand, never wanting to pull away from his touch. His heart was broken beyond repair.
"All right pal," Din rasped. "It's time to go." He didn't want this. He couldn't do this. But he had to. He had to be strong for his son. He had to be a good father. "Don't be afraid." Was Din's final words to his son.
He placed Grogu down carefully and nodded towards Luke, accepting his fate. Grogu clutched onto Din's leg, not wanting to let go. His little mind was racing with wonder— why can't his daddy come with him? Why must he go alone? The erratic beeps of a white and blue astromech droid were what eventually tore the curious child from his father. Grogu waddled towards the droid and Luke picked him up.
No matter how hard he tried, Din couldn't seem to swallow the lump in his throat. Everything Din had done so far had led up to the moment, and he wanted to curse himself for letting it affect him this much. He should've been prepared. It's just, he really didn't think this would happen. He really didn't think Grogu would want to leave.
He didn't blame the child of course. He could never blame the child. He just wished he understood. Just before the doors to the elevator closed, Luke spoke up. Unfazed, unbroken. "May the force be with you." he wished. Din ignored the comment. It meant nothing to him. Nothing meant anything anymore. No meaning, no purpose. Luke tapped the key that would shut the doors and Din offered his son once last nod, trying his hardest to break out an impossible smile. When the doors finally closed, Din let out a choked sob and fell to his knees.
You sprinted over to Din, kneeling down and pulling him into you. He cried, hot salty tears falling from his brown eyes and dripping down his face. You pulled his head into your lap and smoothed out his hair trying your hardest to lull him. But you couldn't. You couldn't even bring yourself to comfort him. Your shoulders curled in and you fell limp, whimpering into his hair. You felt completely broken. Grogu was like a son to you, and you cherished him so very much. You couldn't even imagine how Din was feeling.
His little family was no more but he knew that Grogu was going to go on to do bigger and better things. No matter what, Grogu was going to make Din proud.

Hi everyone! Here is a little fic in Anakin’s POV I wrote for Codywan Week 2021! @codywanweek thank you so much for the prompts and facilitation of all of this! So excited to share it with everyone. This is for the Medbay alt. writing prompt. Will be posting to AO3 under the same username shortly.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
All Disgustingly in Love
Anakin made it a point to visit Obi-Wan in the Medbay, even if it was only a way of annoying his former Master with endless teasing. The elder man had never been particularly fond of presenting his weaknesses. Yet, every time a mission went wrong, Anakin was always the one to see him at his weakest moment.
This time it was an explosion; a large violent explosion of a hidden Separatist lair that had found itself in the sandy dunes of Anakin’s home planet. When it had been discovered by some locals, they had been contacted promptly. Anakin, vengeance on his mind, was first to volunteer to blow it to pieces. Yoda would only allow it if Obi-Wan came along for “damage-control” purposes which only drove Anakin to desire the most brutal of destruction he could achieve. Naturally, this led to Anakin’s implantation of a bomb in the underground cavern. Without an extra instant to warn Obi-Wan of his devious plan, the explosion took the Jedi Master by surprise. Let’s just say that Obi-Wan was definitely not impressed judging by the sand-burns on the exposed skin of his wrists and face and his obviously broken arm.
So Anakin was on his way to visit his Master in the Medbay not just to make fun of him, but probably to eventually apologize for an unfortunate explosion that somehow turned into a surprise medical-evac.
As soon as Obi-Wan had lifted his arm up from the hot sand with a piercing cry that made Anakin cringe outwardly, he was already comming Cody with an order to please for the love of the Force come here and get your boyfriend. Oh, because Cody was a thing with Obi-Wan now apparently and he was supposedly the only person who could effectively provide any sort of comfort to the untouchable High General Obi-Wan Kenobi. Obi-Wan wanted nothing to do with Anakin’s half-hearted attempts to lighten the mood. Instead, he would rather lean into the embrace of his Commander. Ahsoka would giggle at Anakin’s gagging motions he made as Obi-Wan curled into Cody’s chest or grasped his hand like it was his one remaining life-line.
Anakin didn’t understand it, nor did he try. He supposed he would have to resign himself to the woeful position of second-best.
Anakin contemplated stopping by the training room on the way to the Medbay. He hated to admit it, but he was stalling. There was nothing worse than the disappointed tuts that Obi-Wan would toss his way once he entered the room. While the doors to the training room tempted him, Anakin set his sights on the Medbay with pure ambition to make his apology meaningful.
As he entered the red doors marking the entrance of the Medbay he was met with the smiling face of Kix who seemed to be scouring the medical supply closet for some extra field supplies. “Ah, here for Obi-Wan?” he said with a suspicious smirk. “He’ll be expecting your apology.”
Anakin tried his best to not roll his eyes. Great. “I was already planning on doing so. Tell him I don't need a hint next time.” Kix laughed under his breath and stuffed a few containers in his bag.
“He’s down the hall on the right. Be nice.” Anakin walked silently down the hallway and hoped with all of his being he would not be met with a smugly smiling Obi-Wan. He paused in front of the door where Obi-Wan’s robes sat folded neatly in a box by the door. Here we go. Anakin breathed out a deep sigh and pushed the door open with words already forming on his tongue.
“Obi-Wan I am just-” He flung the door open and his wide eyes were immediately fixated on the sight before him. Obi-Wan laid in the bed on his side, broken arm slung carefully in front of him. His cheeks were a rosy pink and Anakin could see that a bacta patch was covering the scrapes that lined his cheek and jawline. Behind him, Cody was curled around his back, legs intertwined with Obi-Wan’s atop of the sheets. The man was dressed in only his blacks while Obi-Wan wore clean white pants and no shirt at all. It was an unexpected sight that made Anakin’s eyes grow wide. Most alarmingly, however, was the way that Cody’s lips were suctioned to the skin of Obi-Wan’s neck. Cody nibbled at his skin and ran his tongue over the shell of Obi-Wan’s ear. The ginger shivered and a gentle moan escaped from his lips before the pair realized their unwanted visitor. “Kriff-”
“Anakin!” Obi-Wan’s cheeks burned an even brighter shade of red than before as he tried to sit up straight. Unfortunately, it resulted in him using his bad arm to push himself upward. A sudden shrill wail left Obi-Wan’s mouth as he collapsed down onto the bed.
“Shit!” Cody grunted as he sprung from the bed and pulled Obi-Wan off of his bad arm and onto his back. Anakin rushed to his other side and placed a reassuring hand onto his bicep, eyes tracing over Obi-Wan’s form for damage.
Obi-Wan let out a few deep breaths before looking up at Anakin with a whispered, “I’m fine, it’s okay.” Maybe Obi-Wan was okay but Anakin certainly was not.
“I cannot believe I just saw that.” Anakin sputtered and stared at the flustered Commander who stood with a hand resting on Obi-Wan’s shoulder, “I forbid Cody from ever coming near you again. Ever.” At least in my presence. Anakin eyed the purpling mark forming on Obi-Wan’s neck just below his ear. Teenagers; they were acting just like teenagers.
“I can do what I want with my own neck, Anakin.” Obi-Wan deadpanned, no evidence of a teasing smirk, just blanked seriousness spread across his blue eyes. Cody blushed furiously and buried his shaking head in his hands.
“And so can Cody, apparently.” Anakin narrowed his eyes. “This is the Medbay, Obi-Wan. For Force-sake please don’t ever subject me to that again.”
“We will settle on this as payback, yeah?”
“Fine. I am not apologizing for the explosion after that.” Anakin turned on his heel and stomped towards the door. “Cody, keep your hands off of him.”
“Yes sir.” Cody murmured as if Anakin was actually ordering him around. His cheeks were still burning with the remnants of embarrassment. With that, Anakin shut the door a little too loudly behind himself and leaned his head against the cool metal of the door. Through the thin door he heard Obi-Wan’s voice.
“Cody, dear, he’ll get over it. He’s resilient. Come back here, I wasn’t finished with you.”
Karking traitors all disgustingly in love.

If you're taking prompts, may I request "we have a shit ton of stuff to do today but you're bored and want kisses and my attempt at resisting fails and we end up making out on the floor" for rexsoka? Bc I love "This Means War" and I feel like this would totally happen while they're trying to clean (/Rex avoids throwing away bits of his collection and Ahsoka hates cleaning anyway).
From this list of prompts. Thanks so much for the prompt! For context, this story is set during the Mandalorian times. Ahsoka and Rex are married and living together on Ossus, where Ahsoka is training baby Yoda (whose name is Dral in this AU because I wrote it before the Mandalorian S2 came out). Dral also used the Force to revert Rex to normal aging.
“Toss or keep?” Ahsoka asked, holding up a cracked datapad from where she sat cross-legged on the floor.
Rex looked up from the stack of holo photos he was sorting through and shook his head. “No way. Echo gave that to me way back on Seelos.”
Ahsoka raised a brow at him and waved the datapad back and forth. “It’s broken.”
Rex didn’t say anything. Just stared back at her with those bronze eyes he knew she couldn’t resist.
“Fine. I’ll put it with the ‘maybes,’” she said, sighing and tossing the dusty datapad into a pile in the corner that was growing alarmingly large.
Sorting through all the stuff in the spare room had been a long time coming, and all their procrastination had made the job a lot more painful than it needed to be. Sorting through belongings and cleaning up wasn’t something Ahsoka was used to yet, even though they’d been living in their home on Ossus for several years now. It was amazing how much stuff could accumulate when you stayed in one place. It was amazing how much stuff could accumulate when you had a home.
“I think you’ve been a little too focused on throwing stuff away,” Rex said, leaning back in the folding chair he’d erected in the corner. “If we just organized a bit more and took some things to storage, there’d be plenty of space. We just need to clean-”
“Oh, no you don’t!” Ahsoka said, getting to her feet. “We made a deal. I’ll clean up if you agree to part ways with some of your…” she cast a doubtful glance at the pile of electronics, bits of armor, and ragged miscellanea in the corner. “...mementos,” she finished diplomatically.
Rex held a hand out to her and she took it reluctantly. “Come on, Ashoka,” he said, pulling her onto his lap. “What’s the harm in putting some more things in storage? You never know when you’ll need it. And it’s such a big, empty planet—it’s not like we’ll run out of space.”
“Rex…” she said warningly, though she could already feel her resolve weakening. It wasn’t as if she wanted to spend the first weekend they’d had alone in months cleaning, either. “We had a deal…”
“Dral doesn’t come back until the day after tomorrow,” Rex said, gathering her up in his arms and nuzzling the spot between her front and back lekku with his nose. “We can always clean up tomorrow.”
Ahsoka twisted around in his arms to face him, her fingers lacing together behind his neck. “What happened to you, Captain?” she asked. “You used to be so disciplined and responsible.”
“Oh yeah,” Rex said, giving her a short and sweet kiss before pulling back just far enough to look her in the eyes. “That was before I started fraternizing with my superior officer. It totally ruined my reputation.”
“Well, as long as your reputation is already ruined…” Ahsoka said with a wicked grin. She laughed, then pulled him to the floor. He let out a surprised grunt, but landed obligingly on top of her, one hand to either side of her head.
Something focused and intense lit in Rex’s eyes, and Ahsoka shuddered. No matter how many times she saw it, she didn’t think that look would ever get old. She didn’t want it to.
Then Rex’s eyes dropped to Ahsoka’s stomach and doubt began to crowd out that beloved look. “...But, we really do need to clean out this room. We’ve got to get it ready for the little one-”
Ahsoka stopped Rex’s words with a kiss, then pulled away long enough to give him an adoring smile. “We’ve still got another trimester left. We’ve got time.”
Rex returned her smile. “Yeah,” he said, bringing his mouth to hers. “We’ve got time.”
Needless to say, the room wasn’t any less messy the next day.

Commander Buir
Follow-up to this post. Not in any particular order, just spitballing ideas, with contributions from several friends on discord.
Like presumably it takes long enough for them all to meet up again that Anakin and Cody do, in fact, end up treating each other like family, just so I can have that good good "well, guess I'm Dad now" energy. Shmi isn't entirely sure what's going on but she's not a slave anymore and her kid seems to like this rando mando, so.
Anakin gets to have a mom and two dads, though one of the dads is arguably younger than him.
Also when they all meet up again and Cody explains the "General Skywalker got shrunk" thing, there are three reactions: (General) Obi-Wan: Oh, Anakin. Obi-Wan: [gestures to take him, ends up with an armful of clingy padatoddler] Anakin: You can't blame this on me, Obi. Obi-Wan, a little teary, because babies cause emotions: Of course I can, you absurd human being. ------ Rex: That's... my general. Anakin: I am, Captain. Rex: Cool cool cool I'm gonna go stand where I can't, uh, break you. Anakin: I'm not THAT fragile! ------ Ahsoka: [gasp] Skyguy is SKYKID! Anakin: Padawan, this is-- Ahsoka, grabbing him and cuddling: Oh my goodness you're adorable this is the best day ever. Anakin: This is humiliating, Snips, put me down. Ahsoka: Never.
Anakin hates being a toddler because of the lack of independence but Cody keeps picking him up when he's cranky and just holding him until he falls asleep and that's... nice.......
- The brain limitations aren't quite as bad as the situation with Sokanth and Ylliben in the other AU, but - Even if his brain is mostly adjusted he’s still got a tiny body with different needs that he’s not used to. Like, he needs to sleep more but he’s got more energy than usual when he’s awake and it’s all weird.
Cody carrying around toddler Anakin like "God you give me ulcers but you're adorable, you little shit."
Inconveniently tiny body aside, Anakin has a pretty great time in this au. His family are all together and safe and within reach. His wife isn't around, but toddler brain means he doesn't have the Romance Drive, so that's not as bad as it could be It could be significantly worse.
@atagotiak asked: Does Anakin get annoyed about being called cute? - To which I say, He bites the first few times but Shmi tells him that's Naughty so he stops. - Babies are cute so you packbond with them before they’re annoying, Anakin is cute as a self defense mechanism - He’s extra annoying so he needs to be extra cute
You know how you need to keep an eye on toddlers so they don't, like, fall down the stairs or put something toxic in their mouth? - They need to keep an eye on Anakin specifically so he doesn't rewire the ship they're in while they're in hyperspace. - He has less self control on account of being smol. He still has all the mechanical knowledge! Just less comprehension of y’know, consequences.
Anakin, with a sippy cup: This is demeaning. Ahsoka: Your hands don't work great enough to avoid accidents yet. Anakin: It's still embarrassing.
General Kenobi can't just kill Maul, not when Maul is baby right now (sixteen, which is baby enough) so he just. Kinda. Kidnaps a baby Sith. (It's fine. He's fine.)
General Kenobi (not to be confused with Padawan Kenobi) decides to declare Maul his new padawan because someone has to deal with this teenager, and Plo already claimed the rest of Ahsoka's training. And Anakin's three, so.
"What do we do with Maul?" "Eh, I can handle him. I dealt with teenage Anakin getting arrested for illegal pod-racing twice a month, I can work with this."
Maul bites, but only slightly more often than Anakin, it's fine
Ahsoka definitely bullies Maul whenever possible
Consider: Rex holding very still because Anakin wanted to be tall, so he climbed Rex. Being unexpectedly climbed is better than being unexpectedly yeeted. It's still extremely nerve-wracking. - Cody is perfectly capable of running around with a backpacking toddler General, but Rex freezes like a statue. - Ahsoka finds this hilarious
You know how little kids like to be thrown around and swung in circles and stuff like that? This must get even more ridiculous with force users. Can throw a child real high and catch them safely. - Rex panics whenever Ahsoka throws her chibified Master
Literally everyone except Rex loves being yeeted. Even Maul can appreciate a good tactical yeet no shut up he's not having fun this is TRAINING - Rex is Suffering - Cody, a very Tired Dad, deserves to mock his vod'ika a little, as stress relief - Rex, a certified Little Brother, shoves Cody off something tall. Jokes on him, Cody thinks freefall is fun too.
Tia asked: So the people who didn’t exist yet got flung bodily back in time and Anakin did the mental time travel. Why did Obi-Wan not become Padawan Kenobi? (I mean “because I want it that way” is def a good enough answer I’m just wondering if there’s any reason.) - Which, well, it really was mostly "I want to" but here's two options, both of which come down to Blame Daughter and Father. 1. They figured a responsible adult Jedi Master was needed to convince people. 2. Nobody was supposed to get de-aged but Daughter figured they needed to make Anakin less liable to kill things for a few years. - Also IDK the Force God-Manifestations also took away any risk of rapid aging and early death from the clones because uhhhhhhhhhhh I said so
Rex and Ahsoka are fumbling their way through a relationship where ages are just really confusing and awkward, so they're keeping it to just kisses and cuddles for a bit.
Cody is so tired he doesn't even realize anyone's hitting on him until it's been three years of co-parenting with Shmi and his General. - Somehow Anakin knows Cody is in a relationship before Cody does. Cody has never been so embarrassed. - How did he manage to be less observant than Skywalker? -- it was sabotage; all his brain cells were taken up in managing said Skywalker -- Because Skywalker was up at three in the morning whacking a training droid with a stick so he didn't have the energy for Relationships
Also Shmi's come-ons are super subtle, while the General's are... well, Cody's gotten very used to ignoring anything ambiguous on that end because fraternization rules, and also because Obi-Wan flirts a lot with everyone. So.
Please imagine Cody and General Kenobi walking around with Anakin tucked into a toddler sling while they do whatever work they've ended up with at the Temple. - Yes, Cody is helping the Jedi figure out the best plan of attack to take down this slave ring because his grasp on tactics is phenomenal and he knows how to deploy people at greatest efficiency, but also he's got a nosy toddler on his hip who keeps offering his own insane-but-competent ideas. - General Kenobi ends up with a Council Seat just on account of, like, being the kind of person he is. As often as not, he's got Anakin tucked into his robes, chewing on the ear of a stuffed tooka or something.
IDK what Shmi's doing but apparently Legends had it that some of the administrative and support positions in the Temple were held by non-Jedi civilians? So probably something like that.
GENERAL KENOBI LECTURING PADAWAN MAUL WHILE ANAKIN'S BALANCED ON HIS HIP AND GLARING AT MAUL FOR STEALING HIS DAD
General Kenobi: Ahsoka's babysitting. Anakin: I'm her master, I don't need babysitting, this is-- General Kenobi: Fine, then you need supervision, so that you don't blow up a training salle again. Anakin: And you think Ahsoka would stop me? General Kenobi, eye twitching: Fine, I'm leaving you with Plo.
Even if he’s mentally an adult Anakin always needs supervision Look at canon! Anakin was left without supervision for like two days and he became a Sith
Quinlan gets distracted by how attractive General Kenobi is and tells Obi-Wan "dude, you're gonna be so hot once you can get rid of the stupid haircut" and Obi-Wan pushes him into the nearest pond.
They end up with this weird "Uncle Jango" situation (uncle to Anakin, via weird brotherhood-ish to Cody) because Rex and Cody are just like "Uhhhhhhhhh yeah okay" about him eventually, and Jango just like. Drops by. Trying to Earn Affection Of Blood Kin by bringing weird gifts for them and their (ugh) Jedi.
"Okay, Rex'ika, I stopped by Shili--" "What?" "--and apparently this is a delicacy there, so just... your girlfriend will like it." "She's not my girlfriend." "..." "Okay, I can't call her my girlfriend. Jedi have rules about that sort of thing, and--" "This will make your Jedi happy, probably. Just take it, kid."
Baby Anakin got his arm back but for some inexplicable reason still has The Eye Scar. He matches Buir.

I.Raised as sith Anakin au asdfghjkl I actually cried at some parts when obiwan was treating his injuries. T-T “I always looked at you like this… should I not?” …. My poor (criminal) child has a lot to learn. I wanna go down the angst road but I’ll never find my way back so let me just go the opposite direction because I feel like ani will short circuit everytime obiwan shows him any positive reaction/emotion that he can’t recognize...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
aaaAAHH thank you SO MUCH for these asks, i am so so so happy that you like this super self-indulgent au (at least on my side). writing a very needie babie woobie ex-sith anakin is one of my biggest guilty pleasures, so i am always super grateful when people join in. i LOVE anakin and ahsoka bonding with that sibling rivalry. im not super good with ahsoka so i’ll probably leave that to @obiwanobi; for the time being i will go feral over the idea of anakin not knowing how to read ;;O;;
lost lonely loth-wolf
It’s not just boredom that scratches at Anakin’s bones from the inside; it’s idleness. Under Darth Sidious’s care (for want of a better word), he must always make himself useful, be it training or killing. No waking moment should be wasted; he should spend every of them on bettering himself in combat and commanding. He must always convince his Master not to doubt his worth, lest he be cast back into slavery again. Idleness is but the short-lived quiet before storm.
Having nothing to do makes his old scars ache.
It borders on astonishing him how the Jedi can afford themselves so many luxuries. Music halls, corridor murals, gardens, so many gardens. Not that he has seen all of them; he only saw glimpses from under his hood, whenever Obi-Wan takes him by the hand and walks him through the Temple to get to the hangar, for their nightly trips in the park. He’s no stranger odious displays of wealth, but the Temple is not odious, and that is hardly wealth. Everything looks simple and… soothing, somehow. The Jedi seems not wealthy, but rich.
The thing they are the richest with, is books. Loads and loads of them, along with datatapes and datacards. Anakin hasn’t been to the Archives, but he has heard the apprentice (Ahsoka, she has a name) talking about it. There are datatapes in Obi-Wan’s quarters as well. Obi-Wan can often be found poring over his datapad with one of those tapes plugged in, quiet and serene and glowing at the edges, backlit by the late orange sun. There’s always a lock of hair falling over his forehead. Anakin can’t recall how many times he has had to stop himself from reaching over to brush it back in place.
“Anakin.” Obi-Wan’s voice stirs him out of his reverie. Their eyes meet, and Obi-Wan smiles a little. Anakin’s face heats up, which he promptly ignores. “What are you looking at?”
You, the true answer. Obi-Wan did tell him not to stare, though, so Anakin shrugs and drops his gaze to the glowing device on Obi-Wan’s lap. Obi-Wan, in turn, rests a warm hand on his shoulder.
“You can read anything on those shelves, you know.” He gestures towards the bookcase in the living room. “They’re all my favorite novels. The bottom shelf is younglings’ stories, and I still enjoy them greatly. Ahsoka leaves her comics lying around often, in which case you are perfectly in the right to read them as well. Force knows how many times I have told her to tidy—”
“I hate reading.”
Silence shatters upon them. Anakin scowls deeply, biting the inside of his cheeks. Books are written to corrupt you with lies. The majority of them are but garbage. There’s no need to busy yourself with those things, no need to wade through messy pages of drivels composed by Force-blind loudmouths, when your Master can dispense true wisdom to you. Your Master has great plans for you, so great that you needn’t burden your mind with trivia. So Anakin doesn’t read.
Nobody ever taught him to.
Obi-Wan gives a dismayed little “Oh.” Anakin rises to his feet and escapes to the fresher, as reluctant as he is to leave his warmed seat.
He shouldn’t have said that. At least not in that harsh manner. Night after night Anakin can’t sleep without seeing Obi-Wan’s face: his upturned brows, his downturned lips, his eyes wide in surprise. They never truly speak of it again, because that is how Obi-Wan is: if Anakin refuses something, Obi-Wan will simply let him be.
Obi-Wan leaves on a mission once more. Day after day Anakin passes by the bookcase in the living room, eyes sweeping over the datapads, fingers itching to pull one out - just to look at the pictures if there are any. He could now, right? There are no eyes looking over his shoulders anymore. No Master to sneer at him, call him a silly boy, and order him to go to meditate in the Sphere.
It takes Anakin another day to make up his mind. He picks a nice moment into the evening, after he has had his one meal of the day (the way he eats when he is alone), and crouches before the bookcase. He could have taken one of Ahsoka’s comics, but his eyes keep getting drawn towards the bottom shelf. Younglings’ stories, Obi-Wan said.
Anakin plucks out a datatape with a lilac casing, and takes the datapad left free for use on the other end of the shelf. He settles on the couch, something like excitement brewing in his belly as he plugs the tape into the datapad. The screen lights up in its familiar cyan glow. The cover page is a beautifully drawn illustration of a Loth-wolf under a great tree. He taps through the pages until he reaches the other illustrations. The Loth-wolf is depicted in various sceneries: in its den, between the trees, atop a boulder, under the starlight, and there never seems to be any other being around, beast or sentient. It feels wrong to him, so he keeps tapping to go through the pages. There has to be at least a scene where the Loth-wolf is with its pack, doesn’t it?
The main door slides open, and Anakin almost drops the datapad. He snaps his gaze up to find Obi-Wan staring back at him. Whatever expression Obi-Wan is wearing, Anakin can’t afford to study it for so long. He rises to his feet, fumbling to unplug the datatape from the device with just one hand and the Force.
“Oh, is this The Lonely Lost Loth-wolf?” Obi-Wan says with utter delight, his hand gently covering Anakin’s. “I hope you’ve been enjoying it, Anakin. This is one of my most-read books yet.”
“I…” Anakin struggles. He’s hot in the face and tongue-tied and his eyes flit over their nearly entwined hands in the bluish light from the screen. He dreads the moment Obi-Wan asks, I thought you didn’t like to read? - something he’s bound to do. Mockingly, maybe. The truth perches on the tip of Anakin’s tongue; what would Obi-Wan think of him if he says it? Even younglings a quarter of his age know how to read.
But Obi-Wan asks no such thing.
“What a strange coincidence; I’ve been meaning to reread this story,” the Jedi Master tells him with a gentle smile. “I would be loath to fight you for the datatape, though. I think we’ve had enough of fighting for a lifetime.” Humor twinkles in his eyes, and Anakin blinks, stumped. “So how about we share this?”
“Uh… Yes?” Anakin lets go of the datapad, now that Obi-Wan has a hold on it. “How?”
“Well, I would like to read to you, if that’s alright with you.” Obi-Wan squeezes his hand lightly. “I do prefer to take it from the beginning - it’s been a while since I read this last - unless you…”
“No,” Anakin says immediately. “I—Yes. Yes, I… want to hear it from the beginning.”
Obi-Wan changes into something soft, and insists Anakin settle in bed for comfort, just for the night. (To be truthful, Anakin would settle in bed with him every night if he could bring himself to.) It’s reminiscent of his first night here, only with a lot less blood and a lot more tenderness.
There was a time when Lothal was made of forests. There were more beasts than men, and among the beasts, the wolves were the strongest, wisest, most respected of them all. There were two Loth-wolf clans: the blue-eyed, and the golden-eyed. They did not always like each other. On the night the first daughter of the blue-eyed clan was born, the golden-eyed wolves hatched a plan…
Obi-Wan’s voice pours like velvet, smooth and warm with the occasional sparkles in his melodic lilts. Anakin’s eyes droop; he strains to open them as the kidnapped Loth-wolf princess begins her journey to travel back from the swamp land, to find her family and restore peace in the realm. At some point, he finds great, pooling-blue eyes looking down at him, and ashen fur with markings like the stars. A calloused hand runs through his hair.
The stars blink at him, and Anakin smiles as he drifts into the softest darkness.

Pairing: Jedi! Reader x Obi-Wan Kenobi
Warnings: none that I know of?
Request: nah
A/N: so this is my first time ever writing anything so I am so sorry if it is terrible, I didn't have the guts to proof-read it. Also, sorry if the romance feels rushed, I tried to time it as best as I could. Please let me know how I can make my writing better!!!
Word Count: 4.4k (I DIDN'T REALIZE IT WAS SO LONG UNTIL I FINISHED)
Obi-Wan Kenobi has always had an addictive personality, to say the least. He had a way of making light of any situation with his sarcastic quips and quick wit, even during the most gruesome of battles. Maybe this was the cause of your ever-growing infatuation with the reputable Jedi or perhaps it was the way he always had a hint of rebellion in his eyes, despite his groomed appearance and strict code-abiding ways.
As Plo-Koon’s padawan, you weren’t able to see Obi-Wan as often as you wished, but it made even the smallest of interactions memorable; just making eye contact with the man while walking through the halls of the Temple resulted in sleepless nights. Even Anakin began to sense your constant flustered state whenever his Master walked into the room, no matter how hard you tried to keep those feelings out of your force signature. He teased you constantly and would always try to see how embarrassed he could make you in front of Obi-Wan.
Once you and Anakin underwent the Knighting ceremony, he went as far to tell you to follow your heart and confess your feelings for him.
“Y/N, you can’t keep walking through life bottling up every emotion you feel!” Anakin said, exasperated
“Isn’t that the whole point of being a Jedi,” you say, not at all surprised that it would be Anakin telling you to rebel against the Order.
“And anyways, unlike you, Anakin, not all of us decide to go against our entire upbringing and marry a senator.” you pointed out, effectively shutting him up about the subject.
It was inconceivable just to think about revealing your feelings to Obi-Wan. There were too many factors against you and the idea of being rejected by him after years of secret pining would be devastating. The worst part is that you know he would reject you in a gentle and kind way, making it impossible for you to hate him for it.
Not only were attachments forbidden by the Jedi council, but Obi-Wan was known for his adherence to the law and there’s no way he would break it for anyone, especially you. You were only a newly knighted Jedi and probably completely off of his radar, if he even had one. There was only one solution for your feelings for Obi-Wan: try to avoid him until they begin to fade.
But since the Maker has a vendetta against you, you, Obi-Wan, R2-D2, Anakin, and his padawan, Ahsoka, were assigned to leave Coruscant for a mission on Naboo. Senator Amidala was having a ball to celebrate the Festival of Light and there were rumors regarding a potential attempt on Senator Organa’s life, so the Order offered to send some Jedi to ensure the safety of the guests and Padmé.
The trip is going to be about a week long, so you mentally prepare being in close quarters with Master Kenobi. When you arrive at the hangar, you are pleasantly surprised to see the ship that was being boarded by Anakin and Ahsoka was bigger than what you expected. You board the ship with a new-found confidence in being able to complete the mission without embarrassing yourself.
“How is the whole avoiding Obi-Wan thing going for you, (Y/N),” Anakin teases once he sees you enter the cockpit.
“Why are you trying to avoid Master Kenobi?” Ashoka asks, looking between you and Anakin confused.
“Anakin I swear to-”
“Our beloved (Y/N) here has a crush on him.” Anakin interrupts and before you can yell at him for sharing that embarrassing information you hear a set of boots walking up the ramp. Your heart stops and you say a prayer to whoever is listening that Obi-Wan did not hear your conversation.
“Is everyone about ready to leave?” Obi-Wan’s accented voice rings out, coming closer to the cockpit.
Feeling yourself heat up from embarrassment, you quickly turn around and face the pilot seat in front of you in an attempt to avoid seeing him. You release a relieved breath, not sensing he heard anything. He walks in and once you calm down and realize how rude you must look, you slowly turn back towards him. He greets you with a smile and you can’t help but return the gesture. That breathtaking smile alone makes you feel like a flustered padawan again but you realize that if you are going to get through this mission and over your feelings, you must overcome your want to shy away.
“Hello Master Kenobi. Yes I believe we are all ready,” You say; your words were stiffly said but at least they weren't a stuttering mess.
He nods in acknowledgment and sits down in the pilot seat across from where you are standing. Anakin closely follows and sits in the adjacent seat, but not before stifling a laugh at the glare you give him for almost revealing to Obi-Wan how you feel. You sit behind Anakin and Ahsoka sits beside you. Anakin starts the ship and begins to fly towards the Chommell sector, where Naboo resides. Once you have left the atmosphere, he initiates hyperspace travel.
Once in hyperspace, Obi-Wan excuses himself and leaves the cockpit to meditate. Right when the door to the cockpit shuts Ahsoka snaps her head towards you.
“You have a crush on Master Kenobi?!” she whisper shouts, but it is still loud enough to facilitate a small internal freak out from you.
You don’t respond and keep looking out the window, contemplating whether or not to jump into the void of blurring stars in order to avoid this confrontation. Ahsoka, on the other hand, takes your silence as a confirmation to her statement.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” Ahsoka exclaims to you and Anakin, mostly in disbelief that you never mentioned this and that Anakin was able to keep a secret like that to himself.
“Well it’s not exactly something I’m proud of, Ahsoka,” you say, turning towards her.
“We’re Jedi.” you state solemnly, “It doesn’t matter who knows about our feelings; it doesn’t change the fact that we will never get to act on them or even truly experience them.”
“I know, but maybe you could-” Ahsoka starts but you are quick to shut down any false hope she could make for you.
“Ahsoka, there’s nothing you can do, I just have to get over it,” you say a bit harsher than intended. You and Ahsoka don’t have the most conventional of Padawan and Jedi Knight relationships, but then again neither did her Anakin. Since you were still a young Knight, you two were more like sisters, making you feel infinitely more guilty for taking your frustration out on her
“Look, Ahsoka, I’m sorry, it’s just that I don’t want to get my hopes up over something that will never happen”
“I just don’t like seeing you hurting, (Y/N)”
“You could always tell him.” Anakin chimes in,
You look at him, annoyed with his ever present need to pull the trigger, and then turn back to Ahsoka.
“I’ll be fine, I always am,” you assure her, but honestly you say it more to reassure yourself.
****
A couple of days past and you successfully have limited your time with Obi-Wan as much as physically possible. He was a very structured man and figuring out his daily routine was easy, so all you had to do was go to a part of the ship he wasn’t, or in worst cases, meditate so he couldn’t interact with you even if he wanted to.
But of course, Anakin, always being the meddler, picked up on your perfectly coordinated avoidance of his Master. He decided to “spontaneously” take Ahsoka to the back to do more training, leaving you and Obi-Wan to man the cockpit.
You approach the metal doors, mentally preparing having to spend the next couple of hours or so with the Jedi Master.
“Master Kenobi.” you greet as soon as you walk in.
“General (L/N), how nice of you to finally join me.” He says with a sarcastic edge but the smile on his face shows he means nothing by it. “In fact, I’ve hardly seen you this entire trip.” He states, matter-of-factly.
You nervously laugh while sitting down in the pilot seat next to him, in an attempt to release some stress over the fact that he noticed. The worst part is that there is a sick kind of rush of pleasure you get from the fact that he noticed you were missing.
You face forward, trying to ignore the way he is watching your movements.
“How much time until we reach Naboo?”
“According to the navigation system, about 23 hours, allowing us to arrive about…7 hours before the actual festivities.” He responds, looking at the display before returning his gaze to you.
“You seem unsettled,” He continues and you meet the concerned look in his eyes.
“I-I’m just…preparing myself for the mission,” you quickly come up with an excuse, slightly cursing the force for putting your emotions on display.
“There’s no reason to worry, at least from what the Council and Anakin have told me, but then again, Anakin is not known for his accuracy of judgement of how difficult a mission may be” Obi-Wan replies while grimacing, most likely remembering his padawan’s past misjudgments.
“There is something to be admired about Anakin’s lack of self-preservation,” You joke, starting to loosen up at the fact that Obi-Wan didn’t pick up on your lie.
You feel a sense of pride go through you when you see him laugh at your attempt of humor.
“Yes, Anakin has al-” He starts but is quickly interrupted by an angry series of beeps coming from the navigation system. You check the monitor and don't see why the ship is freaking out, until hundreds of small dots appear on the radar.
Obi-Wan is quick to react and begins to prepare the ship to enter the asteroid field. It doesn’t seem to be too congested but enough where you begin to worry.
“R2, take control of the steering!” He shouts and is given a series of beeps of affirmation by the astromech
You enter the field and suddenly wish you remembered to buckle up; R2’s steering is jerky and all over the place, but at least the ship is still intact. You grab on to the armrests of your seat as tight as you can and hope R2 will be successful.
Obi-Wan, as outwardly calm as ever, says, “Hope you don’t mind a bumpy ride!”
His sarcastic words force a laugh out of you. Even still, despite the fact you could be facing imminent death, he expresses dry humor.
The field seems to stretch on forever and R2 navigates through it without error. Finally seeing the end approaching, you begin to loosen your death grip on the chair. To your horror, R2 sharply jerks the ship to the left one last time, throwing both you and Obi-Wan out of the pilot seats. Landing with your back on the far wall, your eyes shut on instinct when your head slams into the metal. It’s not until you feel breath fanning your face and open your eyes that you realize that you weren’t only one who fell over here.
Obi-Wan’s hands are pressed against the metal beside your shoulders, caging you in. His arms are bent at the elbows from absorbing the impact of his landing, making his body even closer to your own. His nose is close enough to touch your own and you can feel his legs tangled between your own.
His eyes widen in shock and you begin to see the parts of his cheeks not covered by his trimmed beard turn a rosy pink. You would almost find it cute how his ears were becoming a bright red if it wasn't for your own embarrassment. It only makes matters worse when you watch Obi-Wan slowly glance down at your parted lips, still taking in the image of you pressed against him. If he could sense your unsettledness when you walked into the room, there is no doubt in your mind that your force signature is screaming your feelings. The seconds felt like hours and it seemed that both of you were completely frozen. You are so lost in the moment that you hardly react quickly enough to separate from him when the metal doors to the cockpit slide open.
Anakin’s annoyed shout entered the room.
“What the hell was that!” Thankfully, he didn’t seem to notice the flustered state of both you and his former master.
“I-it w-was an um…” his voice trails off as he keeps looking at you.
“An asteroid field! It was an asteroid field,” you quickly say in an attempt to fill in his words.
“Thanks for the heads up,” Anakin says sarcastically, still oblivious, and heads to the back to make sure Ahsoka was alright.
It’s only then when you begin to feel the throbbing in your head. Your facial expression must have given away the pain you are currently in, since Obi-Wan quickly sits you down and looks at the place where your head hit the wall, making sure you had no serious injuries. Throughout the entire examination, he didn’t meet your eyes once and he didn’t have the same surety in his movements like he usually did. Once Obi-Wan finished, he quickly excused himself and left the room, leaving you more confused than you had been.
Not even a minute later, Anakin pops his head in, quickly rubs R2 affectionately on the head, and then turns his attention to you.
“What the hell did you do to Obi-wan, he looks like he’s seen a ghost.”
***
After the accident, Obi-Wan was now the one avoiding you. He would excuse himself whenever you entered the same part of the ship as him. You couldn’t help but feel guilty for making him so uncomfortable, even though it wasn’t your fault.
You were going to apologize to him, but by the time you arrived on Naboo, you realized the moment had already passed. Senator Amidala greets you right when you walk down the boarding ramp. You and Padme have always had a close relationship, especially since you are one of the only people who actually knows about her and Anakin.
“Master Kenobi, General (L/N), General Skywalker, it’s always a pleasure to see you,” Padmé said in her always regal and kind voice.
“Senator Amidala, in need of our assistance once again?” Anakin teases her, but still tries to keep the outward formal relationship displayed.
Padmé playfully rolled her eyes and escorts us into the
building that we are supposed to rest for the rest of the trip in.
She brings Anakin to his room first to his dismay, but quietly reassures him that she’ll be back after making sure you, Ahsoka, and Master Kenobi are settled in. Obi-Wan still hasn’t made eye contact with you or even truly acknowledged your presence. Once Padmé shows him to his room, she goes to the two doors across the hall, and lets Ahsoka into one and opens the other.
“and here is your room (Y/N).”
You walk inside and just like everything else on Naboo, the place is absolutely beautiful.
“I’m going to send up some dresses for you to choose from for the ball tonight and we could get ready together, if you want.” Padmé says, seeming excited at the idea of dressing up with you.
“Sorry Padmé, I was just going to wear my robes.” You tell her, while still preoccupied with exploring the room.”
“Didn’t Anakin tell you? To ensure that the supposed assassins don’t realize that they have been compromised, you all are supposed to dress in normal clothes.”
***
After hours of being poked and prodded by some of Padmé’s servants, you finally were ready for the ball. You looked beautiful when you looked in the mirror, but you couldn’t help but feel uncomfortable because of this sudden change of appearance. You couldn’t remember the last time you dressed like this and your head still couldn’t wrap around the image it saw in the reflection. The dress you decided to wear was floor-length with a slit that stopped at your mid thigh and was a light blue. The top was a bit more modest but not by much. It was more risque than what you expected to wear, but Padme insisted that it look beautiful on you; also the slit allowed you to strap your lightsaber to your thigh, keeping it accessible, but still hidden. Your hair was in an intricate half-up half-down braid so it looked formal enough for the ball, but if you needed to engage with the potential assassin, it wouldn’t get in the way. As much as you protested, Padmé insisted on you borrowing her jewelry and makeup.
By the time you all finished, It was time to head to the ball. You, Ahsoka, and Padmé all arrive together, and quickly scan the outside for anything suspicious. You head inside and immediately people begin to swarm Padmé and thank her for hosting. You and Ahsoka excuse yourselves and begin to scan the crowd for Anakin and Obi-Wan.
You spot the back of a strawberry-blonde head next to Anakin’s always messy hair talking to a senator you didn’t recognize and begin heading towards them. Ahsoka gets there first, quickly getting Anakin’s attention and talking to him. When Anakin sees you he looks impressed.
“Wow, you clean up nice.” Anakin jokes, making Obi-Wan turn to see who he is talking to. When he sees you his smile falters and his eyes widen a bit. His cheeks start to redden.
“It’s just weird for you as it is for me, trust me” you say trying to overcome the sudden rush of self consciousness you feel.
“N-no you look…radiant, General (L/N).” Obi-Wan breathes out, his eyes scanning your body, slightly widening when they catch your upper thigh peeking through the slit.
You instantly flush at his words and look down in embarrassment from such a compliment from Obi-Wan.
You catch a glimpse of his shined shoes and realize that he, too, is not wearing his Jedi robes. Your eyes trail up his whole body and see he is in robes, but they appear much softer than the rough ones issued by the order and they resemble what a senator would wear. He looks absolutely breathtaking. “And you look…” your voice trails off in shock, “...very handsome, Master Kenobi”
Pamdé finally joins you, unintentionally saving you from the awkward tension. Anakin greets her and as always he instantly appears calmer and more relaxed in her presence.
You awkwardly sit in on their conversation, trying to distract yourself by scanning the room for anything or person out of place. Suddenly, the music began to shift to slower and people began to pair off. Anakin started slow dancing with Padmé, making sure that there was enough room between them to avoid any suspicion.
Obi-Wan walks into your field of vision.
“Would you like to dance with me...to blend in of course.” He says while raising his hand in an invitation.
“I-I would love to.”
Obi-Wan’s rough hand encloses your own and he leads you to the dance floor. Once, there his other hand comes around and rests above the small of your back and yours over his shoulder, hovering over the skin, scared to touch him. You start to slow dance and Obi-Wan glances over at your stiff hand, and his mouth breaks out into a grin
“Relax General (L/N). You are allowed to touch me.” He says quietly.
Your eyes widen at his sudden boldness, but comply nonetheless. He readjusts his grip on your hand so that they woven together and you place your hand on his shoulder. You look at him with uncertainty, but he gives you a small smile of encouragement and nod to approve of your actions. The longer you dance, the more you relax into it, and only internally freakout at his hand sliding a bit lower to the small of your back and his body moving much closer to yours.
You can’t imagine he isn’t seeing the emotions you are trying so hard to contain in your force signature. Your mind is freaking out at just how close Obi-Wan’s body was to you. Your body, however, wants to completely submit to the feelings and melt into his. By the time the song ends, you two are so close that you can feel Obi-Wan’s shaky breath on your cheek, and it all becomes much too overwhelming.
“Excuse me.” you quickly say, removing yourself from Obi-Wan.
You quickly shove your way through the crowds until you find doors leading out to a balcony. You open them and take several gulps of the fresh night air in an attempt to calm yourself. You hold onto the railing and stare out into the starry Naboo sky, trying to make sense of what the hell just happened. Suddenly, you feel the doors open behind you and sense Obi-Wan’s presence.
“Did I upset you, General (L/N)?”
“I can’t do this right now, Obi-Wan” you mutter, dropping the pleasantries of titles.
“And what exactly is this” He questioned, his voice sounding more desperate than you have ever heard before.
You turn to face him and see that his facial expression matches his tone: desperate and concerned. His eyes search your face as if he can find what you're thinking if he just looks hard enough.
You shake your head in disbelief.
“Do you think this is a game, Obi-Wan” you demanded.
His facial expression warped into one of confusion.
“A what?” He replies, seeming taken aback.
“A game. Do you think toying with me is fun? You just want to see how flustered you can make me, huh?”
“General (L/N), I don’t understand where all of this coming fro-”
“I am attached to you!” you interrupt, not realizing what you are saying before it leaves your mouth. Your eyes widen and you watch in horror as Obi-Wan comprehends what you just said.
“You are attach-” Obi-Wan starts, trying to understand the meaning behind your words but before he can, a loud crash is heard from inside the building. You rush past the frozen Jedi, relieved for the unexpected interruption. You attempt to shove down all of your feelings so you can evaluate the situation going on inside the ballroom.
People are fleeing from every which way, making it damn near impossible to understand what exactly is going on. The lights go out, making the room break out into even more chaos. You finally see Ahsoka, who is hovering over Senator Organa’s body. Thinking the worst, you rush over, but are quickly relieved to see him alive. Ahsoka notices you and fills you in.
“A sniper hidden in one of the interior balconies attempted to assassinate Senator Organa, but they only hit his blast vest, thankfully. Anakin is scanning the area right now to see if he can find them before they escape”
“Stay here with the senator, I’m gonna look around and see if I can find anything,” You say, running off to scan the outside of the building. Once you get out there, you see Anakin in pursuit of a tall figure running in the direction of a small single-person starship. You join in the chase, catching up to Anakin. “It’s a bounty hunter, she may have information on who wants Senator Organa dead!” He yells, not at all winded by the sprinting he is currently doing.
She gets to her ship, quickly hopping in and starting up the engine. You and Anakin jump onto the wings and ignite your lightsabers to try and disable the ship from leaving. The ship begins to hover just above the ground and veer left and right in an attempt to throw the two of you off.
“Where the hell is Obi-Wan!” Anakin swore while trying to maintain his balance.
“Finally ready to admit that you need me, Anakin? I thought I’d never live to see the day,” Obi-Wan suddenly quips, as if the last twenty minutes never happened, and uses his lightsaber to effectively damage the ship's engines. The bounty hunter tries to jump out, but Anakin quickly grabs her and throws her to the ground. The entire time that the girl is being put into custody and brought to the holding cell, you avoid Obi-Wan completely, mortified that you confessed how you feel for him.
When the whole ordeal is taken care of and she is set to return to Coruscant with you guys to be questioned there, Padmé insists that you, Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Ahsoka stay another night to rest. You quickly take her up on that offer, thankful that you can try to ease your embarrassment with another night with a hot shower and plush bed.
You head straight to your room, not bothering to talk to anyone, and immediately take a shower. You sit there under the scalding hot water trying to process what you have done. When you get out, you change into your pajamas. You try to relax, but quickly realize that you need to do something to resolve the unsettled feeling you have in the pit of your stomach. As much as you hate to admit it, you need to talk to Obi-Wan. You just have to say that you didn’t mean what you said and that it was just word-vomit, no true meaning behind them. You open your door and are about to step out until you realize that the man you want to see is right there, with his hand raised, about to knock on the door. His eyes widen in shock at the sudden opening of the door but before he can react you quickly try to explain yourself.
“Master Kenobi! I-I was just about to come see you. You see, I truly didn’t mean what I said earlier. It-t m-must have been the stress getting to m-” You ramble but quickly are cut off by the feeling of Obi-Wan’s hands cradling the sides of your face.
You look up in surprise but see his eyes holding a questioning look, asking if this is alright. You quickly nod and his lips are on yours. Obi-Wan’s kiss is just how you imagined it would be like: Soft and sweet and with his beard tickling your cheeks. His hands stay on your face as he pulls away all too soon and rests his forehead against your own and catches his breath.
“I have grown quite attached to you, as well, (F/N).”
