i used to have playlists for going to and back from school that were designed with tempo and terrain in mind so like when going to school i used songs that were kinda upbeat but also had a specific lenght so that i could measure time with them because i was often late so i always knew like ok this song is 4 minutes long so if i'm not by this lamp post at this time i'll be late and i need to pick up the pace and then when i was coming back from school i used songs that i really liked in the first half cause i had to go uphill and that way i could motivate myself and then slower and usually newer songs i could enjoy once i climbed up the hill on even ground

writing advice for characters with a missing eye: dear God does losing an eyes function fuck up your neck. Ever since mine crapped out I've been slowly and unconsciously shifting towards holding my head at an angle to put the good eye closer to the center. and human necks. are not meant to accommodate that sorta thing.
