2) Getting Real Wings
A few days later, with Y/n's hobbit hole finished and all the basic farms for her food and grinding for other materials that they would need for their megabase, Y/n decided it was time to get a pair of wings.
Wings weren't hard to get... usually.
I mean, Y/n could always buy them if they really needed them but it always felt more personal when they got them themselves. Y/n had gotten used to the tiny wings on their back, they weren't much different from the wax and feathers that made their wings from the sixth season or the magic ones from the seventh season. Although it did feel weird not to be able to take off these wings for the night.
Either way, Y/n had plans to get with Impulse to go endbusting for some elytra wings.
Soon they will be able to fly and feel the rushing wind against their face and visit the farther people on the island.
"Y/n?" Impulse's voice was muffled by Y/n's door and Y/n rushed to answer the door with a large smile.
The man had eyes that sparkled like the night sky with messy brown hair, When He entered the one-room house Y/n swore he lit up the room just based on how excited he was.
"You ready to get some wings?" He asked and took Y/n's hands in his, gripping ever-so-gently like if he held them too tight Y/n could break
"Yep!" Y/n exclaimed "Let me grab a few stacks of blocks so we can bridge and we should be good to go!"
And off the two went.
"So You're getting wings for your shop?" Y/n asked as they carefully placed each block to stand on
The two had to respawn and then kill the enderdragon for an even remotely good chance at finding elytra wings. It was a little tedious but kinda fun.
"Yep!" Impulse said, The man was crawling on the ground and clinging to the rockets he held in his hands "Its a great way to make diamonds from people who don't like going to the end!"
"That's so Nice!" They exclaimed and reached a new end island "I think this place has a ship!"
Y/n ran off and left Impulse behind, he watched her fade into the distance and into the stars, He had a gentle smile on his face as he got to the island and stood.
Y/n and impulse had known each other since Y/n joined hermitcraft in late season six. It was during late season 7 when the two actively started talking and during those few months Impulse had grown a crush on her. Unfortunately, so does everyone else in Boatem (With the exception of Pearl who just met her)
Grian and Y/n had that bond from Y/n rooming in Grian's oversized future-based pot that he called a megabase in season six, Mumbo loved to call Y/n for building advice and constantly had them at his side, and Scar who has that silver tongue that can woo anyone including Y/n who has come to Impulse embarrassed because of something Scar had said to them that made them melt.
Impulse was an anchor for Y/n, He knows that and he's proud of it. How often can you say you are one of the sole confidants of your friend and crush?
Unfortunately, when Impulse brings up crushes Y/n avoids the topic like the plague.
But if they don't want to answer then oh well, He can't force it out of them and he would never do anything to make Y/n uncomfortable. Impulse walked towards the end city and noticed Y/n in the air with large white wings holding them up. Their laugh echoed through the void and Impulse felt his heart swell at Y/n looking so happy.
"Impy!" Y/n called to impulse using Tango's nickname for him "I found the elytra!"
"Great job Y/n!" Impulse called back and watched as they landed in front of him "Do you need any shulkers? I can grab some for us and you can grab me a pair of wings?"
"Yeah! that works out, I need some more rockets though. I suck at conserving them." Y/n seemed to pout as they crossed their arms over their chest and Impulse gave them two stacks of rockets "You go find them, I'll gather some shulker shells. When you come back we can grab the other Elytra for my shop."
"Got it!" Y/n grinned and set off into the stars
Impulse watched as they left before rolling up makeshift sleeves and taking out his diamond sword and heading into the city
only to be immediately hit by a shulker bullet and began levitating
"This is gonna take a while," Impulse gave a nervous laugh as he grabbed onto one of the city's towers "Great."
^^^^^
"And We're back!" Y/n said as they resurfaced from the end portal and woke up in their room only to see impulse wasn't by them and presumably in his base "And I have all his elytra wings, welp chat! Guess we're gonna see Impulses base!"
The stars around Y/n's head sparkled brighter and Y/n laughed lightly at their excitement. They walked out of their own hobbit hole to see Grian planting a tall tree on top of Mumbo's base. Y/n only shook their head and ignored the pesky bird.
"Impy!" Y/n called as she knocked on his door "I have your wings!"
"Y/n?" Impulse asked as he opened the door "Thanks! These are much appreciated, I honestly kinda forgot about them!"
He laughed as he took the limp elytra from Y/n and put it in his inventory. The two shifted in his doorway silently before Impulse perked up.
"Oh! Have you heard? Me and Grian made a skeleton farm, I can show you if you want?" He offered
"Sure! I need some bones anyway. I have big plans this season!" Y/n said and spread their arms and wings out wide with a large smile on their face
"Oh?" Impulse asked as he walked out to show Y/n where the farm was "Like what?"
"I have plans to make a white cathedral floating in the sky. I'm going for a gothic-victorian era feel and with this new build height it can be appropriately off the ground!" Y/n explained and followed the male "I'm not particularly religious but the architecture for victorian era chapels is exactly what I was looking for! So many details and the spires and I get to play with some stained glass as well!"
Y/n clasps their hands together in joy and seemed to... glow?
"Woah- Y/n... You're glowing!" Impulse said and took a step back in shock
"Oh yeah-" Y/n said and shook their head and body violently and the glow seemed to fade away "That happens. I freaked out when Grian pointed it out to me yesterday. So far it seems to just be when I feel strong feelings."
"That's kinda cool!" Impulse said And too cute!
"Is it?" Y/n asks "I Guess! I don't know what to think, to be honest. This has never happened."
"That's right, something changes about you every season." Impulse remembered "Last year you were a witch? Since you were focused on medicine and the body?"
"Yep! And Scar was a Wizard since he focused on mainly academia and the physics of the magic!" Y/n exclaimed "And season 6 I was just a pirate sailing the seven seas! At least until my boat crashed and I had to stay in Grian's place until he found me."
"I remember that. Grian was freaking out when he found you asleep in an amazing-looking room and I was with him." Impulse prompted and got a laugh out of Y/n
"Yeah!" They laughed and started down the staircase Impulse led them to "I felt so bad so once I moved out and got my life together I made him a gift!"
"You literally bought out Tango's shop once he restocked," Impulse laughed "He complained to me for hours!"
Their conversation echoed as they went lower and lower, notifying the skeletons that they were there and started moving forward. Impulse placed Y/n in front of the carved-out hole where Y/n could just hit the skeletons to get XP and bonemeal.
As Y/n slashed her sword at the Skeletons, Impulse talked with her about his plans for his megabase and stuff. "Y'know, I just finished the sorting system before you got on today."
"Really Mr.Candyman?" Y/n asked and turn to look at him "What else did you work on?"
"there's a bee farm under my base," Impulse said, "and I made a mob farm, I made a transport system to show off the boatem bases, plus I made the void hole for the Boatem Hole."
"Neat," Y/n said before turning to slash at the skeleton with a powerful slice "You've been uber productive then huh?"
Impulse watched as their muscles contorted and rippled across their body as they hit the mob made of bones, their clothes shifted across their body perfectly and showed off their form perfectly.
"Impulse?" Y/n asked and turned around while snapping him out of his stupor
"Huh? Oh! yeah! I've been pretty busy lately." Impulse said and watched as Y/n sat down next to him, dirtying the white clothes "Are you sure you should be sitting on the dirty ground?"
"I have plans to make a washateria for Hermits clothes. I also need to make myself some new clothes because I realized I didn't spawn with extra." Y/n said
"Oh? Tell me if you need any extra, you can borrow some of my shirts." Impulse said, "They'll be a bit oversized but hey it's clothes."
"I might take that up!" Y/n smiled and leaned their head On impulse's shoulder "But for right now I'm gonna focus on grinding and getting my megabase done!"

It’s currently 5 am and this idea came into my head outta nowhere so you know i HAD TO write it before it disappeared! I LOVE OKUYASU OK??? HE DESERVES ALL LOVE Hope you enjoy!!
Pairing: Nijimura Okuyasu x fem!Reader
Warnings: teen pregnancy, swearing, they’re high school seniors in this. fem! reader, okuyasu being dumb.
Teen Pregnancy
With raged breaths and sweat running down his forehead, Okuyasu kept running. His mind was racing but blank at the same time, he had a million thoughts but couldn’t think at all. His feet took him to the only place he could think at the moment and after feeling like running a marathon (even if it wasn’t that long) he was knocking at the door of his best friend’s house with urgency. He heard some footsteps from the other side and “I’m coming, jeez!” and when the door finally opened, he rushed in.
Josuke’s mom wasn’t home until a few hours, Okuyasu knew that much. So he stepped into the living room and started pacing around with a mortified expression. Josuke followed not long after closing the door, extremely concerned for his friend and how he was acting.
“What ha-?” poor guy was cut short.
“(Y/N)’s pregnant” complete silence.
“What?”
“I said (Y/N)’s pre-“
“What the FUCK do you mean she’s pregnant?!” the blue eyed screamed in complete shock.
Both teens red in the face but for very different reasons. While Okuyasu was red in embarrassment and wanted earth to swallow him whole, his best friend after staring wide eyed from shock he was quickly seething from anger, just from one sentence.
“Okuyasu what the fuck did you do?!” he demanded and explanation
“I didn’t think it would happen!” Okuyasu tried to defend himself to no avail
“Are you fucking stupid?!”
“I thought that was well stablished”
“That’s no excuse dumbass!” Josuke couldn’t believe his best friend right now “How do you know?”
“She told me she was late and decided to take a few tests” the teenager stumbled with his words “they all came positive!”
“You gotta be kidding!” throwing his hands in the air Josuke groaned “What will you do?”
“Well...” Okuyasu thought for a moment “I love her and I know I want to spend my life with her but a child? I don’t think we’re ready...”
“Of course not!” the owner of the house sat down on the sofa and sighed “when did she tell you? where is she?”
“Uhm, she told me today” Rubbing the back of his neck Okuyasu looked down at his feet “I kinda just ran from her house all the way here”
“And you left her alone?!” poor Joestar screamed again
“I panicked!”
“God you’re fucking stupid Okuyasu!” Josuke patience was running thin and he was trying his best to reason with Okuyasu “how could you leave her alone?! specially after she just told you she’s pregnant!”
“I really fucked up huh” another sigh left Okuyasu as he face palmed himself
“Listen Nijimura, if you really love her as much as you say you do, you’ll go back there and make it up to her. Just imagine how she must feel!” The teen was mortified, while he felt for his bro (Y/N) was his friend too “I’m sure you’ll come up with something but she needs you right now, she must be scared out of her mind thinking you just left her like that”
Okuyasu paled at that thought, he was so shocked by the news that he just rushed out without really thinking about anything else. Without another word he thanked Josuke and ran back outside and on his way back to her house.
Arriving he noticed how the porch was still empty meaning her parents weren’t home yet and she was most likely alone. He was quick to knock on the door with urgency and didn’t stop until he heard the lock of it moving.
On the other side stood (Y/N) with puffy red eyes, tears still running down her cheeks as her chest tried to get as much air as possible. Looking up at Okuyasu her eyes watered even more and she choked back a sob ‘he’s probably going to break up with me now’ she thought but Okuyasu wrapped his arms around her, resting his head over hers. He moved the both of them further into the house and closed the door behind, listening to her sobbing was heartbreaking and he couldn’t even phantom how she felt while he was gone.
“I’m so sorry Oku” she sniffled from his chest “I ruined our lives”
“Hey, look at me” Okuyasu pulled her from his chest and looked into her red eyes “It takes two to tango. You didn’t ruin our lives, we’ll work something out together”
“Together?” she sniffled and wiped a few tears from her cheeks
“Of course, you didn’t think I would leave you did you?”
“I mean...”
“Look, I panicked” he admitted regretfully “But I love you (Y/N) and we’re both in this together. I’ll do everything in my power to assure you’re safe and happy.”
“Thank you Okuyasu” she hugged him tight “I love you”
They stayed like that for a few minutes before they started talking about future plans. How they would tell her parents and what awaited for them after graduation.
A few weeks later they decided to tell (Y/N)’s parents and they reacted fairly well to the news, they weren’t exactly proud but they were happy that the couple had sorted things out. Okuyasu’s dad couldn’t say much but he really liked (Y/N), she was always sweet and offering a helping hand to him if his son was unavailable so his heart was happy that Okuyasu found a girl like her to settle down with (even if earlier than expected). Telling their friends was quite the thing. While Koichi and Yukako were completely shocked and mortified but they are happy for them as well offering their help whenever they needed. Mikitaka didn’t see why they were so mortified at first, wasn’t having babies normal for people on earth? They had to explain to him why it was much more than just having a child. Josuke after the whole ordeal with the first reveal was glad that Okuyasu decided to take responsability and be real smart, hugging (Y/N) and telling her that he wanted to be the godfather and if she ever needed someone to kick Okuyasu’s ass, ring him up.
(Y/N) and Okuyasu were in for a ride but if they were together, there was nothing to fear.

Reviewing Grey's Anatomy Episodes but this time its Season 17
(To those people on my page who don't watch Grey's Anatomy but are being subjected to this I'm so sorry but I really just like to vent about this show.)
Its season 17 now Yay.
They're dealing with the covid 19 pandemic and I'm sure the writers probably did lots of research to make sure that they had the most accurate representation of the situation in the hospitals and otherwise.
___________________________________________
First we're going to start with the love triangle that is Teddy, Tom and Owen.
Owen
Now this is in no way excusing what he's done in the past for the longest while I've loathed Owen Hunt but..... now I feel sorry for him. He saw he had a problem he went to therapy to get himself right, he was actually a good partner for once and communicated in his relationship, he took his time and didn't jump into marriage spontaneously and then Teddy cheated on him over but dial to be heard by everyone in the operating theater with Owen on their wedding day. (I don't want to sound bad but this might also be karma coming to but him in the ass.) I felt so much 2nd hand embarrassment for him and the pain he had in his face the whole time he pretended not to know about her cheating was just oof. I loved though the end where he drove away for the mean time I really do agree with him taking some time and space before he makes a decision. Most of the times he made a lot of sudden decisions that later came back to bite him.
Teddy
Oh Teddy, she used to be one of my favorite characters from a little after she came to the time she left but now they just carried her character so far down hill that it's hard to keep the same energy I had before, now. Everyone at Grey Sloan is on Owen's side and giving her the cold shoulder and she really wants everyone to mind their own business (I honestly agree though, you're in the middle of a pandemic mind your business and do your job now isn't the time to be shunning coworkers because they cheated.) However when she did explain her side I kinda understood it a bit better. It's still an awful thing to do but I know plenty of people who sabotage their own happiness because they aren't used to it. Hell I do it myself sometimes. But then I was also pissed when she just pretended she did nothing wrong at first. First thing first she acted kinda offended when Owen explained why he hadn't called to cancel the wedding to her. Was it kinda sus? The answer is yes but you literally cheated on him that same day, you needed the extra time sis. Not to mention the several time he hinted to her that he knew and gave her the chance to confess yet she lied through her teeth whenever he hinted at it and flat out lied again when he asked if she had anything to confess. I get the whole sabotage route but God was I happy when Owen got in his truck, drove off and left her.
Tom
I was honestly rooting for Tom in the beginning, despite him being a douche I knew deep down he had a heart somewhere, but I actually started to feel less sorry for him last season when he continued to sleep with Teddy despite knowing her situation which he pointed out to her several times and she still ignored it. I know he loves her but let's be honest, she's going to pick Owen as long as he decides to actually take her back and Tom will be left alone and heart broken with his $100000 worth of boxes in booties and a golf club to measure 6 ft distance between him and everyone else. Honestly I kinda saw a panic attack coming, if they're treating Teddy bad then they're probably treating him even more like crap based on the fact that no one besides Teddy, Catherine and maybe Amelia liked him to begin with. This may also be an unpopular opinion but I actually agree with Catherine for making him resign of chief of all chiefs his head hasn't and probably won't be in the game for a while. At least he still gets to be head of neuro. He bought a whole $100000 dollars in booties alone by mistake during an already tough pandemic between that and everything else going on around him I'm not surprised he broke. What did surprise me was that no one even went near him to help even after the attack was finished. Dislike him or not at least ask him how he's doing geeze.
___________________________________________
Jo and Jackson (Never thought I'd have to put the two of them together in a title.)
Truly the biggest shock of the night besides the trailer for next week which I will freak out about later.
Jo
So Jo has decided that in order for her to feel herself again she has to do the devils tango with someone and because they're in a pandemic and she trusts him she chose Jackson. The night of the appointment to do the deed Jo ends up crying in his mouth. The way she treated him afterwards at first was a little uncalled for in my opinion, I mean she was the one who asked for the favor. But later they talked and it was all cool again. Jo didn't really have that big of a plot this episode so not too much to talk about.
Jackson
Agreed way to quickly to doing the devils tango with Jo if you ask me. Seems a little sus. I really hope they aren't rushing him and Jo into anything give the girl some room to breath and also give Jackson a proper plot he seems to be a plot filler for everyone right now like they have no real purpose for him on the show at the moment. I'm beginning to really think that he was the one who was supposed to die last season. I really do love his and Richard's relationship. Jackson never really had a good father and Webber seems to be filling that spot quite nicely. Him pushing Webber to fight to get better and convince him that his career can be saved was heartwarming. And can we take a moment to talk about Harriet finally appearing from the world of Narnia to bless us with her presence? And boy was she a blessing. That baby that plays Harriet was awesome from her repeating Vic saying she can't be a step mom all to her facial expressions. I hope to see baby Harriet again very soon. But speaking of Vic, did she not know that Jackson was a father? How the hell did she expect to never run into her at some point? Then there's the whole question of what did she even expect of the relationship with Jackson if she never intended to even try to accept being around his daughter? also if she really want to be Robbie Rotten from Lazy town and avoid being around kids, maybe she should call or text first instead of showing up in just a fluffy jacket and nothing else.
___________________________________________
Deluca
Glad to see he finally got the help he needed and is back put tho work. I felt so upset last season when everyone just treated him like crap without trying to help him, but they made up for it a little by trying to help him with the intervention. He was also right about the sex trafficking case and I was so glad to see that he was able to be there as her doctor. Plus he's now also finally in dark blue scrubs it has felt like forever before he got those but I digress. He is now on his way once again to be a kick ass surgeon with the awesome skills hes already showcasing. I just hope he continues to look after himself. Deluca shine like the star you are babe.
___________________________________________
Maggie
Has finally found a man who understands her, he is so nice and kind and caring the whole episode I was mentally yelling go get it hun to the screen. She deserves someone who can take her seriously and understand her awkwardness as well as her tendencies finally she has stepped out of the role of cheerleader and support character and is branching out to something else and I'm here for it. And her yelling at Catherine, to share her piece of mind. I was so proud. Go get it sis.
___________________________________________
Richard
Richard Webber is back in the building, finally the king has returned to himself and already solving problems in day one. At the beginning when he publicly called Catherine a pain in the ass I was so stoked I finally thought that he was done being pushed around by her but then he took her back in the end it also kinda felt like she bought him in order to get him back with the hiring him as the new chief of chiefs but I wish them the best of luck, Webber deserves to be happy. I was also happy to see him and Bailey interacting like friends again. For a while it was awkward between them but now it's like the balance has been restored. Side note, him laughing at Teddy and Owen made me laugh so loudly especially when he asked Teddy if her name was still Altman despite the fact he clearly knew about the phonecall drama, not gonna lie I'd do the same.
___________________________________________
Catherine
Not much there, just her being angry at the pandemic and loss of money, lack of power to save lives as well as trying to win Webber back which she successfully did after firing Koracick and giving Richard his job and finally giving him a heartfelt apology without being petty.
___________________________________________
Bailey
It might just be me but so far despite the fact that it's only been 2 episodes. Bailey seems somewhat better this season. Her guilt over Deluca was definitely warranted but at least she tried to make up for it (and just like Harriet her OCD has decided to rejoin us for a visit from Narnia.) For the past few seasons she's been a slight pain but now she seems more like herself.
Her and Ben are adorable as usual, coming every 12 hours to clap for the doctors just to see her then the cute hand signals they made for each other, between Ben, Link and recently added to the group of awesome partners Winston, I'm beginning to wonder where I can find me one of these super thoughtful understanding handsome men. The two guys that knocked her over as well spraining her ankle really should have to pay or something or at least apologize, they literally just knocked a doctor off her feet and made her wheel chair bound, the chief ro be exact. Her and Webber are on talking terms and well again but she really needs to know how to express concern better. She once told Ben that when she's scared she yells but a lot of things would have gone a lot more smoothly if she'd just reminded him he was a high risk for covid and state her concern for him to begin with instead of barking out orders.
I'm also wondering if shes going to be able to handle the whole Covid situation so well for the whole time, with all the chaos and disorganization with the whole ordeal not to mention the whole fit she had with the germs in the episode. I think it'll be a good storyline now that Grey's seems to be bringing mental awareness back up.
___________________________________________
Link and Amelia
They have now officially reached my list along with Ben and Bailey and a few others that are no longer on the show that have reached the stage of killing the couple goals on this show.
Despite the fact that they're not only raising their own baby but also Bailey, Ellis and Zola yet their relationship is still solid. I'm so proud of my baby Amelia she has come a long way from the woman who didn't even want kids to begin with.
I loved the fact that he wasn't upset over her forgetting his birthday and acted like nothing was wrong, just so she wouldn't feel bad about forgetting. I would have been livid set a reminder on your phone babes. Either way she definitely made up for it later with the whole redoing his birthday thing. Also welcome to the world Scout. Looking forward to seeing them more often.
___________________________________________
Levi
How did it all turn so bad, Nico has turned into such a jerk at this point I'm not even sure I'd be to upset if he left if it wasn't for the fact that I ship the person he was before and Levi so much I'm still hoping that they'll go back to how they were before Nico became a lying hypocrite. At the end I was practically begging Levi to push him away, Nico doesn't deserve it not after the way he treated him and he hasn't even shown a hint of remorse to this day.
___________________________________________
Meredith
The biggest shock of the whole episode. I honestly knew something was going to happen to her from the time she fell asleep and started the dream on the beach. Dreaming of beaches have never been a good sign on Grey's I just thought she was going to collapse from stress because she really had been pushing herself all episode. The thing with Meredith is that she cares so much for her patients and does anything she can to save them, but based on the preview of the next episode and the tests they showed it doesn't seem to be test. And let's just talk about that huge bombshell they dropped by bringing back Derek I never thought I'd see Patrick Dempsey on the show again. By the end of the episode I was already literally shaking in anticipation for the next episode. I know they can't kill Meredith, without her there literally is no Grey's Anatomy. That being said I really hope they don't give her cancer, (I know Patrick is involved with helping a charity for cancer.) And I also really hope she isn't getting alzheimers I just hope it's nothing serious in general. She's been through enough man. I just want this to be a really touching moment where I get to see Merder have some touching moments and it doesn't end up to be Izzie and Denny all over again. I don't think anyone is ready to handle that. I read in a spoiler that there's supposed to be some more visitors arriving on the beach and I'm stoked for it so I really hope it's a real spoiler I'm tired of rewatching the newer seasons to experience some of the old joy.
___________________________________________
Imma need them to give that intern Perez an official recurring contract for the show because he is currently one of the best things to come on that show in years. He's a breath of fresh air.

So, I’ve written a lot of things. A lot of stupid things. And I figured I might as well catalog them.
I’m also going to link my other accounts:
FF.net: psychicchameleon (for the love of God don’t read my old shit. I’m trusting you.)
Ao3: iloveyouthree_thousand
Note: everything is pretty Irondad centric unless otherwise specified.
one-shots:
and even if I’m gone, there’s always a place for you here -- “I wanted you to know that he never forgot about you. You meant a lot to him, to us. You were a part of this family too, and it didn’t feel right to not include you in our new home.”
it’s killing me to hold on (but I’m dying without you here) -- “I know!”, he snaps, turning to face the apparition, “God, Pete, don’t you get it? Every day I wait for the dream to end, but every single day that god damn sun rises and you still don’t come home.”
trope: Mister Stark -- “You’re not my dad, but you’re… something like that, I guess. Something special. You’re Mr. Stark.”
the graduation -- “He scanned the audience, and like a magnet, his gaze landed on May. And then Tony. Peter took a shaky breath. ‘Tonight, I’d like to talk about heroes.’”
a suit of armor around (his) world -- “He told me, once, that he didn’t think he’d rest until he could put a suit of armor around the world. I thought it was… a fever dream. But then I saw him look at you, wrapped up in that suit, and I realized that he’d already done it.”
sometimes a family is nothing more than a kid, his aunt, a guy-in-the-chair, and a handful of Avengers -- “Tony froze, a fuzzy warmth spreading in his chest as he searched Peter’s face for any indication that he understood the gravity of the statement he had just made.”
we push away the unimaginable -- “Tony didn’t know which scenario he was more afraid of: A pile of dust on the floor. Or May Parker, alive and well, having lost the one thing she had left to lose.”
and I’ll be right there with you, wherever you go -- “Ugh, you know that when you cry I cry,” she fans at her eyes desperately, “and Peter Parker if you make me smudge my makeup so help me–I will lock you in this room for the entirety of this wedding.”
you’ll always be my underoos -- “Jealousy was watching Morgan Stark crawl into her father’s lap, the two of them wearing matching grins as he held her tight, exchanging whispered I love you’s that were so easy and second-nature it hurt.”
sleep tight, I’ll be right here watching over you -- “If Tony had to choose between saving himself or saving you and Morgan—he’d choose you guys every time,” she tiled his head up gently, “it’s what parents do.”
in fourteen billion lifetimes, I’d still love you in every one -- “All I know is that,” he paused, waiting for Peter to meet his eyes, “in fourteen billion scenarios, he always brought you back. Ms. Potts, his little girl, and you were always a given.”
who tells your story? -- “He waited for the day that it wouldn’t hurt so bad, for the day he could tell his little girl about a superhero named Spider-Man, who knew an inordinate amount of B-list sci-fi trivia and cared about saving a stray cat as much as he cared about stopping a gang of arms dealers.”
you can take away my kid (but he’ll always be a part of me) -- “That kid—he ignited something parental in you before you even had a chance to fight it. We all knew you were a dad way before we found out Pepper was pregnant.”
five times Peter Parker could hear Tony’s heart beating (and the one time he couldn’t) -- “It helps Peter to hear his heartbeat. He knows that. As long as Tony’s heart kept beating in his ears, Peter knew he wasn’t going anywhere.”
there are moments that the words don’t reach -- “Peter was gone and he was alone and there was nothing to say anymore, because the worst had come and gone and Tony had let it happen with only two words of protest: you’re alright.”
the beginning of a future that could’ve been -- “Tony called Peter down to Pepper’s office under the guise of meeting up for lunch. Instead, he presented him with a plaque that he’d had rush-ordered, solidifying his position as the newest intern at Stark Industries.”
and we might not be able to save everyone (but I’ll be damned if I can’t save you) -- “I’ve been here, too, at the end of my rope. Because you’re a superhero, right,” he chokes, “a card-carrying member of the 'earth’s mightiest heroes’ club, but they don’t tell you when you sign up how much it absolutely sucks.”
The Cherry-Red Porsche 944 Turbo [from five-ish times Peter didn’t call Tony ‘dad’] -- “I don’t care how many times you save Queens, if you ever have to call AAA, then I feel like I’ve failed as a mentor.”
and they say a picture is worth a thousand words (but I never understood that until now) -- “Before they realized what was happening, it had become a tradition. Still, they’d never voice the fact that it was Father’s Day. It was just a random day that they happened to spend together. Annually.”
just get back up (when it knocks you down) -- “He said there’s always a choice, but I could see his face, Mr. Stark. He didn’t look like he had a choice. And in a different life, in a million different scenarios… that could’ve been me.”
because I don’t know what I’d do without you -- “You’re not my dad!” The words blurt out of Peter’s mouth before he’s even aware of them. Silence hangs thickly in the air. Peter’s voice is wobbly, softer, as he repeats, “you’re not my dad.”
sometimes parenthood hits you when you least expect it (but you accept it all the same) -- “You don’t just get to walk out on him because it got hard. He’s had enough taken away from him. I can’t watch him lose you too.”
blood or not, when you love someone three-thousand, they’re your family too -- “Peter’s brain is going haywire, trying to process the fact that this tiny human he’s never met before is calling him Petey and clinging to him like a long lost friend.”
Anthony Stark [from Stark: An American Musical] -- “Holy mother of—you bastard, orphan, son of a—good God that hurts.”
I still believe in heroes -- “Heroes make mistakes, kid, it’s part of the job. We continue to believe in them anyway, we have to, because the second we don’t… I—none of us should live in a world like that.”
trope: coming out -- “Pride means a lot of things to a lot of people. And sometimes, it’s nothing more than taking a breath and looking in the mirror and smiling because you’re you and that’s enough.”
bullet point fics and headcanons:
you win some (but, oh, you lose so much more) -- “That’s the way life goes; some people win, and off to the side, in the shadows, some people lose.”
it takes two to tango (and to give a certain Spider-Kid ‘The Talk’) -- “Come on, kid,” Tony breathes, accepting that this is his life now, “the sooner you ask the question the sooner we both get out of this special form of hell.”
back to the future past -- “Past Tony has come to expect their company, and even though he doesn’t know if time travel is something they should really be messing with, he’s really never been able to say no to his kids.”
prompt: birthday cake -- “The problem, however, is that it becomes a tradition: Peter Parker gets chocolate-coconut batter on the ceiling and all over his face. And every year, Tony chokes down a slice of the death cake just to see the kid smile.”
from one father to another -- “Scott almost didn’t do it.After all, a man who moved his family to the middle of nowhere is probably a man that wants to be left alone.”
the proposal -- “You’re a hopeless romantic, you know. A balcony, really? Don’t think I didn’t catch that reference.” Pepperony.
AC/DC -- “I’m warning you, kid, fun and games aside—you do not, under any circumstances, disrespect that song in this house.”
for the next Tony Stark -- [not really a fic, but kinda reads like one]
you’re here, there’s nothing I fear (and I know that my heart will go on) -- “Because if he was a sinking ship then she was the captain. Maybe the damage was too deep this time and he couldn’t be saved. She’d still do everything in her power to get him to float again.” Pepperony.
lean on me (and I’ll help you carry on) -- “When Rhodes finds out he’s living with Tony Stark, he thinks it’s a joke. One thousand, four hundred and twenty-eight incoming freshman, and he gets paired up with the prepubescent heir to Stark Industries?” James Rhodes & Tony Stark.
suit up -- “…and before you get any ideas, you’d be a junior groomsman, so no open bar and definitely no bachelor party, but for all the other stuff… well, I’d like you to be there.”
next time, you ride with me -- “For just a moment, he wants to let his best friend will carry him home -- again -- and believe everything will be okay.”
we’re in the endgame now -- [again, not really a fic, but kinda reads like one.]
Spider-Man: FFH deleted scene -- “Ms. Potts?” he calls down from the landing, gripping Morgan tighter in his arms, “w-what do you mean, ‘we need to keep him out of the city?’”

Soak! x3
I have been needing to write some grandpa Cecilio...so I shall do so, but for the future X3
I also apologize if Cecilio was written incorrectly uwu And also because this is rather long
“Do you guys hear that song?”
“Yeah.”
“It’s the hokey pokey. Oh dear, I used to be so addicted to that song.”
“Really?”
“Oh yeah. But then I turned myself around.”
Despite the loud sounds surrounding the trio who walked alongside down a path filled with several others, there was a painful silence that came from a person from the trio. Meanwhile, another stiffled a giggle whilst the other who had last spoken awaited a reaction.
“I already deal with enough of this with my dad.” finally replied the shortest member before the tallest gave a laugh.
“I’m just making sure you never take a break from him!” he exclaimed before giving a laugh, even wiping away a stray tear at the though of his previous joke.
“That was so dumb.”
“No, it was great!” the other member laughed. “Ula just can’t take a joke.”
“Yes I can! I just have enough with my dad’s jokes, and Cordelia loosing her shit over each one.”
“Cordie just knows how to appreciate our jokes.” laughed who was Cecilio, walking in between his eldest granddaughters at the state fair which was buzzing with guests all over. “Anyways, what do you girls what to do next?”
“I wanna go on the rollercoaster!” Ama pointed to a roller coaster that was off in the distance, and it clearly stood out due to its height and the screams that were heard everywhere.
“I don’t think I’m tall enough for that.” Ula blinked at the sight before Cecilio ruffled her hair.
“You can always do that hair-height changing thingy you do! In fact, why didn’t you do it sooner?”
“Oooh Ula! You’re not scared are you?” Ama poked her cousin’s cheek before her finger was swatted away.
“Of course not. But someone my size probably could not withstand that. I’ll probably puke everything out.” Ula pouted before turning to the side. “How about we go eat something instead?”
Right in that moment, Cecilio felt and he as well as the girls heard his stomach give a growl, making Ula and Ama giggle.
“How about some deep fried food?” Cecilio suggested as he caught sight of the plethora of food stands, licking his lips at everything being offered.
“Deep fried sounds weird, but I’ll take it!” Ama smiled before Ula nodded in agreement, following the older man to one of the many lines for the deep fried food. They stood in line behind a person, right before Cecilio felt a tap on his back which made him turn and see a man who was clearly upset.
“Yes?”
“What the hell’s your problem? You’re cutting in front of me!” he shouted at Cecilio who’s eyes widened as he gave an apologetic look.
“I’m s-”
“Hi there.~” Ula then stood in between Cecilio and the man. “My name’s Lily. Do you have a name, Sweet Face? Or call I call you mine?~”
Cecilio looked down in surprise as Ula fluttered her eyelashes at the man who’s demeanor took an immediate turn, especially as he blushed at the sight of Ula. He blinked a few times before turning to Ama who smiled and gave a shrug; she was clearly used to seeing this.
“I, um, well, s-sure! You don’t have a boyfriend?”
“Not at all. In fact, I was hoping you’d be willing to take that title.” Ula twirled a lock of hair on her finger, meanwhile her free hand was behind her, motioning to Cecilio and Ama to move on.
Cecilio was quite hesitant in leaving Ula alone with this stranger, but Ama grabbed his arm and dragged him back to their place.
“What was that?”
“She always does that so things go her way.” Ama playfully rolled her eyes while Cecilio glanced at Ula who was still flirting, even having dragging the man away. “I thought you knew this grandpa! She’s like Aunt Jelly.”
“Oh riiiight, ‘cause they eat all that love and stuff, right?”
“Yup.” Ama nodded before they both noticed that Ula had come back, smiling at Cecilio. “What’d you do?”
“Threw him in a trash can.” Ula shrugged before looking to the front. “Oh look we’re next.”
With that, Cecilio gave a smile before patting the top of Ula’s head which made her beam brightly up at him. His tiny grandaughter, flirting with people to her advantage...it kinda made him proud actually, at least she got some snacks out of it.
_____________
“Eeeew, what is that!?” joked Ula as she made a disgusted yet playful face at the food Cecilio was about to take a bite out of.
“This is...the monster deep fried pizza.~” he proudly presented before taking a large bite of the food, the girls watching in amazement before looking down at the other foods they had purchased.
“Boy am I excited to try out this corn dog.” Ama smiled down at one of the things on her plate. “What did you get Ula?”
“Well for my main course: deep fried octopus, especially ‘cause of the little hat and googly eyes it came with.”
“Ew.” Ama joked as Ula gave her a look, both then starting to eat before realizing that Cecilio had now finished his pizza.
“So girls, tell me. How’s life been treatin’ ya?” Cecilio wiped himself with a napkin before both the girls gave a shrug. “Hmm, Ula, how’s the band stuff been going? What was the name again?
“It’s Cin-O-Surre, and we’ve been doing great.” Ula nodded before Ama gave a nudge.
“Especially since they have a new member.~”
“Ama shut up.” Ula playfully hit Ama as Cecilio could tell what was being told.
“Is this new member cool?” he asked with a smile, placing his chin in his palm as he propped up his elbow on the table.
“Well, pfft, yeah.” Ula shrugged as her eyes darted to the side, a blush forming on her cheeks. “His name’s Schrader and...he plays the bass really well...writes great songs.”
“And this Schrader, is he your friend?”
“Yea-”
“Yeah but Ula loves him.~” teased Ama who giggled as Ula now nudged her.
“Oh, is that so?” Cecilio chuckled as Ula’s blush darkened.
“Well I don’t love him but...I might like him more than I would like a friend.” she smiled like a goof, even turning away so her expression wouldn’t be seen. “He’s a really cool guy...”
“And he works at the diner Ula was telling you about earlier.” Ama chipped in before a plastic spoon hit her head, but she ignored it and the fact that it came from Ula to instead lean closer towards her.
“Well if Ula wants, she can tell me more about this boy.” Cecilio gently nudged Ama so that she would back away and give the flustered Ula her space, and they were both surprised to see how Ula sprung back into the conversation with a smile and twinkles in her eyes.
“ So Schrader has these wonderful, so beautiful eyes that remind me of blueberries. And, and he writes the best songs you will ever hear in your life, and, and his fingers! When he plays a guitar, holy shit! It looks like they’re dancing some waltz or tango! And he sings so wonderfully, and he likes horror and scary stuff like me! And, and he’s so tall and handsome and amazing! And, and! And, and...” Ula soon started to quiet down as she saw Cecilio’s and Ama’s eyes right on her, Ama even smirking. “He...calls me...Nungen...”
“Ula has a crush on Schrader!~” Ama exclaimed before Ula hit her arm again Cecilio only giving a chuckle before ruffling Ula’s hair as she pouted in embarrassment.
“You two are so adorable.”
“Anyways, enough about me. How are things with you and lover boy Henry?”
“Lover boy? Henry?” Ama made a weird face. “What on earth are you talking about Ula?”
“Oh don’t play dumb.” Ula stared at Ama who was still pretty confused. “If not you, than at least Henry. Like, he’s clearly head over heels.”
“What? No he’s not. Henry’s my friend and he knows that. Henry doesn’t have those kind of feelings for me.”
“Yes he does!” Ula squinted her eyes while Cecilio watched the two continue their bickering, his eyes drifting to the side where he heard splashing. Oooh, that looked like fun!
“Girls, girls! How about we go check that out?” Cecilio pointed to the area where plenty of people were gathered, the girls turning and then giving a shrug as well as nod before standing up and throwing away their trash.
They all approached the area to see that it was a dunk tank, and a person was now attempting to hit the target but failing.
“Pfft, I bet I could do that in two throws tops.” Ama stuck a tongue out before Ula gave her a look.
“Sure Ama.” she shrugged with a laugh.
“I bet I could stay in that chair and not get wet because none of you could drop me.” spoke Cecilio before the girls looked up at him, and he grinned down at each one.
So now, Cecilio sat on the chair inside the tank, grinning like a fool as he looked through the glass at where the girls stood.
“Take your best shot!” he waved at them, watching as Ula turned to Ama.
“You take the first two shots, I’ll take the third.” Ula handed two baseballs to Ama.
“Pfft, you won’t need to.” stated Ama who then launched the first ball which hit the wall rather than the target. “Don’t worry, I said at two I’d make it.”
“Okaaaay.” Ula shrugged.
“Come on Ama, just a little harder!” called Cecilio from inside before Ama threw the second ball, missing yet again before Ula gave her a smug look.
“Stop.” Ama covered Ula’s face who swatted her hand away again, then walking in front as she clenched onto the baseball she held.
Ula kept her eyes on the target for just a bit, then turning to Cecilio who made a silly face at her. So, Ula squinted before roughly throwing the ball, hitting the target right on the center before an alarm loudly sounded and a splash followed.
“Where did you learn to do that!?”
“I’ve been practicing some baseball.”
“Baseball? Why?”
“No reason.”
The pair then rushed towards the tank as they saw Cecilio pop out his soaked head, even spitting out water like a water fountain before he gave a laugh.
He watched as the girls soon burst out into laughter, even holding their sides as their eyes were shut and smiles wide. Cecilio gave a smile himself, thinking of how they still looked like their younger selves, yet it was nice that they were growing up and that he was there to see it.

The Courage and the Strength I Need
Heather & Valencia - Femslash February - Day 23 - Phone Call [1,957 words]
Valencia flipped listlessly through the channels while she rested on her stomach. Nothing sparked intrigue. She stretched along the couch, but the far end was cold and empty. Her phone buzzed on the coffee table. She flung out an arm to angle the message into her line of sight.
HARVARD
Are you sure you don’t want to come over? We can finally start The Wire like we’ve been talking about forever but never do.
Valencia smiled and opened the conversation.
I appreciate it, hon. I really do. I just don’t think I’ve got the energy for the kinds of discussions you’ll want to have after every episode. I won’t make great company tonight. Also, you have a habit of staring at the side of my head in the dark. I keep feeling that instead of paying attention to the show.
HARVARD
Well, I wouldn’t do it for the WHOLE series but... I won’t lie. That would be my main activity for like 90% of the run time. I want to relive every scene through you because IT’S THAT GOOD. Plus your face is, like, extra pretty in the TV glow. Can I help it if my friend is a goddess and I, a humble human woman, sometimes find myself reminded of that ethereal beauty?
Valencia laughed. She set the remote control aside so she could type with both hands.
Should I screenshot this and tell Heather you’re swooping in to steal her girl the minute she’s out of town? :P
She left the sofa in favor of the bedroom. Valencia flicked on the closet light and stepped through the doorway.
HARVARD
I doubt she’d be fazed. I once said she has abs like the Venus de Milo.
Oh, so *I’m* the one coming to kick your ass.
HARVARD
I don’t doubt that you could. But was I wrong? ;D
Valencia heaved a forlorn sigh. She grabbed one of Heather’s camo jackets, hugged it to her chest, and inhaled deeply.
No. Damn it, Rebecca! Now I’m missing them, too.
HARVARD
Feel free to take care of business. I’m in the middle of a Potions class in Hogwarts Mystery. I can brew while I wait for you to text back.
Valencia pinched the bridge of her nose, amused in spite of herself.
I am not going to bookend a masturbation session with texts to you.
HARVARD
What if I promise not to track how many minutes elapse?
You and I both know you would.
HARVARD
Rub out the loneliness. Grind away the gloom.
Valencia ducked into the hanging garments to conceal her reaction, even though Rebecca could not see the flush of color spreading over her skin.
I think I’ll pass.
Rebecca sent a gif of Frodo Baggins smirking and saying, “All right then. Keep your secrets.”
HARVARD
All I’m saying is it might cheer you up, at least for a little while. Ever since Heather left for the trip, you’ve been all
She followed with a gif of the transformed Kuzco crying in the rain from The Emperor’s New Groove.
Are you saying I have a llama face?
HARVARD
So testy. See? Someone’s horny and angry. Time for the two finger tango.
Valencia rolled her eyes. She began to type but then noticed the clock and backspaced to write a different reply.
It’s almost 9, so she’s about to call. Thanks for helping me stay distracted until now. <3 Talk to you tomorrow?
HARVARD
Anytime. <3 Get to bed. ;)
Her parting gif was of a television character Valencia didn’t recognize calling, “Have good sex!”
As if on cue, an incoming FaceTime alert appeared. Valencia left the closet, shutting off the light and closing the door behind her as she did so, and then threw herself across the mattress. She hastily brushed back her disheveled hair and answered the call.
“Hey, baby.” Valencia realized she was leaning an abnormally small distance from the screen, just to feel nearer. She adjusted the space by degrees until it was more comfortable. “How are things in Wine Country?”
“I haven’t gotten enough of either. When I did get to be outside drinking, there was always some dusty old white guy droning into my ear and harshing my buzz. This valley make me need a Napa. Ugh, even my humor’s going stale. You and the girls have gotta organize a heist to take me away from here. I’m not gonna make it.” She fluffed her hotel pillow and pouted.
Valencia mirrored the expression. “Don’t tempt me. I might do it. I’m not holding up so well, either. All the furniture feels wrong when I’m the only one on it. The first day has already been so long. Another three will be an eternity.”
She readjusted so her body was angled the usual direction for sleep and then flopped against the covers. Even miles apart, they defaulted to their respective sides and held their phones at the height where their lover’s face would ordinarily be.
“You know, if corporate keeps making me haul my ass all over the state, maybe we should think about a pet,” Heather suggested. “It might be good for you to have a little buddy around.”
Valencia hesitated. It was something she’d imagined since they got together, but dreaming about co-owning an animal and actually co-habitating with one were two very different things. “What kind of pet?”
Heather shrugged. “Nothing too exotic or anything. Dogs are cute but a lot of breeds pack high energy that doesn’t really gel with our vibe. So... a cat?”
Valencia attempted to picture it but her mind kept fixating on their brand new house and its furnishings. She could envision the claw marks and clumps of fur covering everything. “I don’t know...”
“How about this: sometime after I come home, can you and I go to a shelter and take a look around, just to see how it feels? No pressure, no rushed decisions. All super chill. We can talk it over and make the call from there.” Heather offered a hopeful smile. “What do you think?”
“Okay. I’ll try,” Valencia agreed. “Even hours around the smell of cat pee don’t sound so bad if that means you’re back here with me instead of up there.”
“Damn, I should be using this to my advantage. If I’ve got any sporty activities I wanna coax you into, now’s the time to pitch them. Ha! Pitch. I'm exhausted. But while we’re on the subject of athletics, what are your opinions on rock walls?”
“Don’t push your luck.”
Heather laughed and trailed her fingertips over the image of Valencia on her screen. “I hate that I’m not there with you.”
“Join the club. You can be vice president.” Valencia pulled the sheet over her shoulders, but it was a poor stand-in for the comforting embrace she craved.
“Remind me again why I let these identical suited golfers badger me into this?”
“Because you come up with solid ideas and you’ve got a chance to make them heard,” Valencia answered without pause. “Because they need fresh perspective and you have that in spades. Because they’ve realized that you’re a problem-solver and they care what you think. You made an impression. They’re impressed by you. They should be.”
Heather crooked an arm under her head. “I mean, I’m proud of that stuff, I really am, but I don’t want this to be the rest of my life. It’s not a bad gig; it’s just not the job I'd choose for my career.” She began to pick at a loose thread on the sheet but stopped herself. “I don’t know. It’s not like I have an answer for what I should switch to instead. I’m kinda idling in one place.”
“Out of everything you’ve tried so far, what do you most genuinely enjoy doing? And don’t say me.”
“Crossing off the special skills section of my resume in one swipe. Harsh.”
“Seriously, though. What would you say?”
Heather rolled onto her back and stared up at the ceiling. “Is it weird if the truth is sorta everything and nothing? All of it interested me for a while, or else I wouldn’t have done it in the first place. But a lot of jobs don’t change very much, y’know? I get tired of the monotony.”
“‘A copy of a copy of a copy,’” Valencia supplied.
Heather bit her lip. “Don’t reference Fight Club when I can’t reward you for remembering that.”
“I’ll put it on your tab.” Valencia winked.
Heather scrubbed a hand down her face and sighed. “The main thing I’m into is learning. Adapting. Having a reason to stay curious.”
“You miss college.”
“All the time. But I wasn’t making money doing that.”
“What about when you’re sharing what you’ve studied?” Valencia asked. “You’re good at it. That goes without saying. I pick up a lot from living under the same roof. Is that fun for you?”
“Kinda,” Heather admitted. “I like making it useful. Also, I know from experience that it’s nice to have concepts explained by somebody who’s not gonna be a condescending shit-heel about it. Everybody’s gotta learn something for the first time at some point. Academia isn’t innate. It doesn’t prove you’re superior if you got the hang of it first, and it definitely shows you’re worse if you rub someone else’s nose in it. I care that people know they can come to me for help without judgment.”
“Cariño?” Valencia murmured.
“Hmm?”
“I think you might have your answer.”
“Teaching?” Heather’s words were tentative, nearly inaudible. “Like a professor?”
Valencia nodded.
“That requires at least getting my master’s degree to work at a community college. Probably a doctorate if I plan to go somewhere else.” Heather rubbed the back of her neck. “It’ll take years.”
“Honey, the fact you already know that means you must have researched it at some point.” Valencia looked directly into the phone’s camera. “Is this what you want?”
Heather’s eyes were shining in the darkness. “Yeah.” Her finger swept beneath her eyelid. “Yeah, I think it is.”
Valencia beamed and a tear slid along her jawline. “So it’s settled.”
Heather disappeared behind the heel of her hand for a moment, and when she spoke again, her voice wavered. “Are you sure? This affects you, too. It’s a long-term commitment.”
“Then it’s a good thing I’m long-term committed.” Valencia brought the phone close again, back to where she started. “I love you.”
Heather kissed the camera and rubbed the resultant smudge away with her sleeve. “I love you, too.”
“You want to know something?”
“Always.”
Valencia’s lips subtly turned upward at the corners. “I usually save this for major breakthroughs because it already sounds mushy and fake, and I don’t want it to lose all meaning, but today’s a milestone for you so it totally counts. I’m really proud of you, Heather.”
Heather hid her blush in the pillow. “You memorized what I sent you.”
“I read it like twenty times, so, yes.” Valencia’s grin broadened. “I mean it. You’re going after what matters to you and, in the meantime, you’re making a difference in this in-between space. Home Base isn’t your final stop, but it will be an improved establishment when you leave because you were with it for a while. You changed things for the better which, as far as I’m concerned, isn’t surprising in the least. You’ve been doing that for me since the day we met.”
Heather’s mouth twisted. Her gaze was warm with devotion. “What would I do without you?”
Valencia blew a kiss. Heather pantomimed a catch and pressed the air-touch to her cheekbone.
“You’d still take the world by storm,” Valencia declared, “but I’m thankful I get to be part of it.”

Miraculous Rent
Words: 1935 Fandom: Miraculous Ladybug Rated: Teen for language Summary: The ot4 have to do a project for class that includes them choosing an original play/musical and compare it to the modern adaptation. Adrien, Nino, Alya, and Marinette choose La Boheme and Rent, and instead of doing actual work, they get caught up dancing to the songs and choosing which character they would be. Authors Note: So this is my first Miraculous fic that I’m actually publishing, so let’s see how this goes. It was a ton of fun, so yeah!
Rent spoilers, but i think that’s kinda obvious.
Based on this lovely headcanon from @gijinkart
Ao3
When the class was told to choose a classic play and research the modern adaptations, many kids sounded bored by the idea. But when they were allowed to choose their groups, everyone was a little happier.
It was obvious that Nino and Adrien asked Alya and Marinette to be in their group, as Nino and Alya have a thing and Alya is always trying to push together Adrien and Marinette. It was just a plus that they all worked so well together, and they were excited, too.
Adrien offered that they all come over to his house after school and they can research classic musicals to find one they liked. They only had a week to do the project, and with the crazy schedules teenagers have, it was easier to start right away.
Alya and Marinette met Adrien and Nino outside as they waited or Adrien's driver to arrive at the school. He already contacted Nathalie to add to his schedule that he would be working on a group project, so that way his father could not say he had new plans for him. And Adrien was more than excited to be able to hang out with his friends for a few hours, even if it was for a school project.
"All of these seem so boring!" Nino groaned as he looked through the list on his computer. Nothing was really grabbing anyone's attention since they were so old and different. Granted, the project was to compare the classic and the modern adaptation, but some still seemed like they hadn't changed much.
Alya put her hand up after scrolling a bit more. "Oh, this one! Its adaptation is Rent!" She caught everyone's attention. "La Boheme. I didn't know that was the original," She confessed.
Adrien took the computer from her with a smile. "Let's do some research." Adrien began typing away on the keyboard and everyone gathered around. He pulled up a page on Rent and a page on La Boheme. They read about La Boheme, and decided it would be more fun to watch the movie version of Rent instead. They had time, as it was a Friday and could stay as late as their parents allowed. Adrien claimed his father would be leaving for another trip early in the morning and Nathalie wouldn't care if everyone ended up staying over.
Time quickly passed as the four friends watched Rent on Adrien's TV in his room; laughing and smiling in the beginning, but crying in act two. "Act two is always sadder," Marinette declared, "That's just how it is," She told the group as she wiped her eyes with the bottom of her shirt.
"Why did Angel have to die? She was the best, and so pure, and Collins was so sad..." Alya whispered as she tried to hold back her tears as well.
The movie was over and Adrien shut off the TV. "I'm Mark."
Nino turned to Adrien with a strange look on his face. "Where do you get that impression?"
Adrien smirked like he was made for this moment. He pulled out his phone and pressed a button, making "The Tango: Maureen" play through the speakers.
"There's another way...say something, anything," Adrien mouthed along to Anthony Rapp singing.
"Test one, two, three!" Alya stood up singing, and walked towards Adrien with a strange look on her face.
"Anything but that," He playfully rolled his eyes and walked around her. Nino and Marinette watched as the two interacted with each other. They were both ready to see if they would actually tango, and it was times like these Marinette wished she had actually paid attention when they were dancing in gym class.
"This is weird"
"It's weird."
"Very weird."
"Fucking weird!"
They continued to walk around trying to portray the angry characters, and doing a great job at it. Adrien stopped walking to prepare himself for the next line, and he was excited to start the tango. "Honey, I know this act; it's called "The Tango: Chole!" Adrien replaced 'Maureen' with the beloved classmate, making the other three friends burst out laughing.
"The tango: Chole!" Adrien spun in a circle with his arms up, "It's a dark dizzy merry-go-round!"
Alya got closer to Adrien with an annoyed look on her face as more lyrics passed. "I think I know what you mean..." She sang.
"The tango: Chole!" Adrien joined in and they continued to sing, the best parts coming at random times.
"Has she ever pouted her lips and called you 'Alyakins?'" Adrien sang, trying his hardest to make it sound more like Chloe and the strange nickname Chloe always gave him.
Alya scoffed and had to try very hard to keep herself from laughing. "Never." And they started to tango all over Adrien's room. Adrien started out leading. But once Alya started to lead, to say Adrien was intimidated would be an understatement.
They stopped dancing and broke into laughter after about halfway through the song and Adrien pressed the pause button. "Wait," Marinette interrupted all the laughing, "Alya, why would you want to be the Joanne to Chole's Maureen?"
Alya smirked and walked over to Marinette, putting her hands up. "Awe, kiss pookie?" Marinette chuckled and pushed her best friend away. "Plus, can you imagine Chloe saying 'moo with me?'" Alya added, making the group laugh again.
Nino's jaw dropped. "What am I? Am I nothing to you people?"
Adrien walked past the two girls. "You'd obviously be Roger, music man," Adrien pointed to Nino's headphones and got an approving nod from Nino. Then, he turned to Marinette with a puzzling look. "And Marinette would be," He paused to think, "Mimi?"
Marinette's face flushed when Alya looked over to her and then over to Adrien. "M. Agreste," Alya started, "Are you implying that Marinette has the best ass?"
Adrien's jaw dropped. That wasn't the way he meant for it to come out! He knew Marinette had a nice voice and she could hit all the notes Mimi had to, and it would be interesting for Nino and her to have songs together! "N-no!" Adrien shouted, his face turning pink. "I mean, she does have a nice- uh- she has a nice voice! I'm saying she has a nice voice!" Adrien yelled in embarrassment, trying to explain himself. He covered his mouth and cheeks, trying to hide the redness, and fell on the couch. "I'm sorry Mari, please don't hate me," Adrien whispered as he turned his head to her. Marinette couldn't even come up with a response, and she just nodded while she could hear Tikki giggling in her bag.
"Nice save, kid," Plagg snickered to Adrien. This was the first he had even heard Plagg speak all night; he was surprised he wasn't begging for food right now.
Marinette looked over to Nino for help to get her out of this, but instead, he just nudged her side. "I didn't recognize you without the handcuffs," And he put his hands above his head like they did in the show. She wasn't sure her face could get any redder, but it did.
"I can't stand any of you!" Marinette shouted, walking away from everyone teasing her.
Adrien shrugged. "I guess I don't know if I could see Marinette being Mimi. They're so different," Adrien tried to talk quietly, but Marinette heard him.
"Is that a challenge, Adrien?" Marinette turned around abruptly. She was never one to back down from a challenge, and if it was a chance to show everyone that their teasing was dumb, she would do it.
"N-no?" Adrien answered, but it came out more as a question. "Maybe, I don't know?"
Marinette smirked and she knew what she had to do. "Since we saw Alya and Adrien do a song together, maybe it's time for Nino and I to give it a go," Marinette suggested and pointed to Alya to play a song. She had no idea where this confidence was coming from, but she liked it. She wasn't freaking out around Adrien, and she was actually having fun!
Out Tonight started to play and Marinette laughed at Alya's song choice. "This one? Really?"
"Yeah, you told me to chose! This is your challenge to prove you can actually be Mimi!" Alya encouraged.
Marinette took a deep breath and started to move to the music. "What's the time?" She sang, "Well, it's gotta be close to midnight! My body's talking to me, it says 'time for danger!'" She danced around with her eyes shut, letting her body move to the music without even thinking. She was supposed to be like a cat for this song, and thinking back to how Chat Noir acts was helping with her confidence. He's such a flirt, and just goes with whatever is thrown at him. It was hard for Adrien to keep his jaw closed, as the way she moved did seem very Mimi-like. He was impressed, and her voice was perfect for the part. She may be a quiet girl with a small talking voice, but her singing voice is powerful and able to project it as much as she would like.
Marinette still had her eyes shut as she tried to envision what she looked like, and how much Chat would have loved to see Ladybug doing this. He would be so proud she was taking notes from him, and it made her smile.
"Meow! Ha!" Her eyes popped open and she turned to where Nino was sitting and watching. She started singing towards him, as he was the Roger of the group. Marinette couldn't tell at the time, but like Adrien with Alya, he was intimidated beyond belief.
Marinette danced around and sang her heart out, and surprised everyone. No one had seen her act like this before, not even Alya. "Please take me, out...tonight!" She sang loudly. The song ended as well as her adrenaline rush, and she collapsed on the couch next to Nino.
"Holy, wow, Marinette..." Alya started and stood in front of Marinette, "I've never seen you like that before."
Marinette smiled with a shrugged. "I channeled my inner Chat Noir. He's a flirt." Adrien stood watching the interaction between Alya and Marinette without a thing to say. She...she channeled Chat Noir? Was he really like that? Did he really show that side of himself to people other than Ladybug? He needs to watch out more.
Marinette turned her head to see that Nino was still in shock from what just happened. "I think I broke your boyfriend...maybe you would be a better Mimi to Nino's Roger," Marinette suggested to Alya. She didn't give a straight answer, but shrugged and continued to talk to Marinette as Adrien helped Nino recover.
"We're screwed, bro," Nino whispered so the girls wouldn't hear.
"Oh, I know," Adrien replied. "But we'll always be the best of friends and Brotp's even in a hypothetical Rent situation," Adrien told him, and they fist bumped.
"And what about when Joanne and Maureen are fighting? You would make for a perfect Maureen there!" Alya suggested to Marinette, but Marinette just brushed off what she was saying. "Just think about it!"
Alya was left discussing her ideas with Marinette. Marinette couldn't seem to get her to stop, so she joined in. "You were flirting with the woman in rubber!" Alya shouted, trying to sound like Joanne.
Marinette rolled her eyes and spread her arms, scoffing before she talked. "There will always be women in rubber flirting with me!" Marinette playfully argued back. "Boys, girls, I can't help it, baby!"

Thanks a bunch to my sassy crazy lil sis @mysupernaturalfics for betaing this for me.

A sharp pain shot through your head as you started regaining consciousness, making you instinctively closed your eyes tighter together.
‘I am dying. What the hell did I drink last night?’ You thought to yourself as you quickly started to remember the last memory you had was sitting at the bar laughing at your sister who you had all forced to do karaoke.
‘Where the hell am I?’ Was the next thought that entered your mind, quickly followed by a rush of panic. It wasn’t a mattress beneath you. It was skin. Skin against your skin. ‘Oh my God I’m naked! He’s naked. Fuck!’
Your eyes opened wide and you shot up into a seating position, nearly falling of the backseat of the car you found yourself to be in. The guy beneath you woke up with a grunt as you pushed your hand against his chest in effort to get up and away from him. You quickly grabbed the nearest piece of clothing you could find, covering yourself up as you started as the man before you.
“Who the hell are you? What did we do? Where’s my clothes?” you practically screamed at the man, making him frown in discomfort from your high pitched voice. You panic seemed to wake him up fast though and he pushed himself up to sit besides you. Unlike you however he made no effort to cover himself up, and even in your panic it was a little hard not to stare. Especially with his proud morning glory pointing right at you.
“Whoa take it easy sweetheart. I’m Dean. I don’t really remember but my guess is the horizontal tango and I am sure they are around here somewhere,” Dean grumbled, clearly not to thrilled with the daylight shining through the windshield.
“Oh My God! Could you…” you waved towards the full salute he was giving you. Dean looked down before looking back at you sending you an apologetic smirk. He grabbed his boxers of the floor of the car and wiggled into them, giving you a full show of his physique. Your jaw dropped slightly as you caught a glimpse of his firm pinchable ass. Your eyes wandered to the his biceps and the way his muscles flexed under miles of creamy skin dusted with freckles as he moved. You had had a one night stand with a goddamn porn star and you couldn’t even remember it.
‘For fucks sake Y/N control yourself! He could be some perv! Who picks up a drunk woman in a bar and bangs her in the back of his car anyway?’ You scolded yourself which Dean must have picked up on. A soft smile spread across his face as he reached out to you, only causing you to back up closer to the door clenching the shirt you were holding closer to your body.
“I’m not gonna hurt you…” Dean frowned clearly searching for a name and your jaw dropped again. This time in anger. He had slept with you and he didn’t even know your name.
“You don’t remember my name?!” You whined and a slightly annoyed expression spread across his face.
“Hey it is not like you remembered mine either, Princess.” Dean huffed and your mouth open and closed as you searched for words.
“Well it is not Princess. It is Y/N. Why don’t you get dressed and get out of the car so I can find my clothes?” You knew you were being unreasonable, but you also didn’t care. This wasn’t like you. You didn’t have one night stands and certainly not in the back of a guy’s car. A guy whose name you hadn’t even known when you woke up.
“I can, but I am gonna need that,” Dean smirked pointing towards the shirt you had been clenching against your naked chest, causing an angry “Argh!” to erupt from your lungs, tossing it at his face only to quickly replace it with the dress you had worn last night.
Somehow you managed to both get dressed in the confined space without Dean ever touching you or looking at you. ‘Well maybe he isn’t a complete creep after all, but he is still infuriating’
“Can you at least take me back to my hotel?” You asked, wondering whether or not letting a strange man drive you anywhere was such a great idea, but you had no idea where you were and the only place you might be able to find from here was the bar you had been at last night. This was your first time in California, but your sister had wanted to have her wedding ceremony in the place where she had met her husband-to-be. So here you were.
“You honestly think I would leave you out here,” Dean muttered as he patted his jacket and then the pockets of his pants. ‘Great he had lost the car keys!’
“Did you lose your keys?” You questioned with your hands nailed to your hips. You knew you are being hard on him, but the alternative to blaming him for everything was admitting you were as much to blame for this mess as he was. You weren’t quite ready to go there yet.
“No,” Dean pulled a face at you before ducking back into the backseat of the Impala and you poked your head in after him.
“Then what are we waiting for?” you hissed at him and Dean looked up at you with a look on his face that could kill elderly people and small children.
“I lost my brother’s rings okay?!” Dean hissed at you and you bit your lip trying your hardest not to laugh. It wasn’t polite and he did look scary as hell. Still for some reason you didn’t fear him. Something told you, even though you barely knew the man, you didn’t have too.
“You lost your brother’s wedding ring? You are an awesome best man,” you deadpanned making him glare at you.
“You know what you could help since Sam is getting married in 6 hours and we are not going anywhere until I find the damn ring” Dean huffed at you and your eyes instantly widen with the information.
“Wait? Sam? Not Winchester?” A combination between panic and anger started to build in your stomach as you stared daggers into the man before you. Dean stood up straight and looked at you over the roof of his black car with a puzzled expression on his face.
“Yeah Winchester. How did you know…” Dean started but you saw red. Your hands balled at your sides and your body tensed up as you screamed at him. “You lost my sister’s ring?!”
Dean brows shut to his forehead and his jaw dropped. “Ori is your sister? You don’t look that much like her.”
“Well you don’t look that much like Sam either. Where did you put the damn ring?” you all but stomped the ground, knowing how much this day meant to your sister. You couldn’t believe this idiot had gotten drunk and dropped her and her future husbands wedding bands somewhere God knows where.
Your anger was mirrored in Dean instantly. Dean was a big guy. 6ft something and broad shouldered. You knew the look he send you should make you feel like crawling into a hole, but for some reason you saw past it. Dean was an idiot and probably a manwhore, but he didn’t strike you as a bad guy. Still the next words out of his mouth made you wanna strangle him. No not strangle him, you wanted to barbeque and filet him, before throwing him into a pool of piranhas.
“How the hell do you expect me to remember where I put a damn ring when I can’t even remember if I wore a condom last night,” Dean spat at you, making you pull of your shoe and fling it at him.
“Hey!” Dean ducked the upcoming snicker-misil before going back to staring you down, clearly not appreciating the blame game you were playing on him.
“How the hell do you not remember if you wore a condom?” You hissed before ducking back into the car, searching and roaming around between the blankets and the beer cooler on the floorboard.
“So you’ll search for a condom but not help me find my brother’s ring? Nice Y/N, real nice.” Dean muttered as he got in next to your continuing his own search, “what’s the big deal anyway? You are on the pill right?”
Your eyes shot up up to meet his, your entire body was quivering with anger. You wanted to kill him. Literally wanted to bludgeon him to death with your remaining shoe.
“I don’t wanna catch something. I mean I slept with the kinda guy that has sex in the back seat of his car with random chicks,” you sneered at him and Dean instantly pulled a face at you.
“Well I fucked the kinda girl that leaves parties to have sex with strangers in the backseat of their car,” Dean copied your tone and you balled your fists against the seat, slowly counting to ten. You would have killed him, but your sister would be kinda upset if Sam would have to replace his best man on such short notice. So instead you let out another “argh” sound and went back to your search.
You searched in silence for a few minutes before you finally came across the balled up filled rubber. “Oh Thank God.”
“You found it,” Dean looked up with a hopeful expression on his face and you pulled a face at him.
“Not the ring. Your… leftovers.” You hissed at him. “Which I am not touching by the way.”
“Well you clearly didn’t have any trouble touching any parts of me last night,” Dean retorted before running his hand through his hair. His voice softened with his next words. “Look this is not getting us anywhere. Would you just please help me find the damn ring. For Sam and Ori. Please?” Dean begged and you took a deep breath.
He was right. You were pissed at him, but that didn’t matter. Your sister’s happiness was more important than your hurt feelings.
“Fine. It is clearly not here. So let’s backtrack. Where is the last time you remember having it?” You knew you still sounded annoyed but your voice had soften as well.
“I don’t know. At the bar I think?” Had you not been this furious with him, you would have found his whining cute. His pout really is kinda adorable. ‘I bet those lips did feel good when we… No dammit Y/N. Focus’
“Big Food Lounge?” You frowned remembering where you and the other bridesmaids had dragged your sister for the night.
“Yeah that sounds about right,” Dean muttered, “You think you can find that place?”
You rolled your eyes at him and retreated your shoe before getting got in the the car next to the man you weren’t sure if you wanted to strangle or drag back into the backseat for another round, you would actually remember. He was pissing you off but it wasn’t like those thighs hadn’t caught your attention. ‘And those hands. Fuck just think about what he could do with… Dammit Y/N!’
The car ride through town and back to the bar was mostly quiet aside from his directions and the classic rock softly playing from the car stereo.
“Why did you come here anyway? He knew we were here.” You questioned as you walked through the doors to the morning silent bar. Actually you were more than a little lucky the place wasn’t completely closed up for the day.
“Sam wanted to see Ori, so Cas and I decided to take him,” Dean shrugged like it was no big deal. We were all pretty smashed when we got here and so were most of the bridal party if I remember correctly.
“Can I help you?” A voice sounded behind you, making you and Dean both spin around to face the person behind you. “We’re closed. The door was open for the delivery guy. We open back up at 5 pm.” The man clearly tried ushering you towards the door, but Dean didn’t budge.
“Look man, we just need a few minutes okay,” you only half listened to Dean as he tried to explain your situation to the man. Rather than taking part of the conversation you were looking around the room, searching for anything that would kickstart your memories. Finally when your line of sight landed on a bull in the far corner of the room and a few images from last night entered your mind. Dean being one of them. You remembered laughing with Dean and challenging him to duel. The alcohol making you overly sure of yourself and the belief there was no way he could stay on the bull longer than you.
“We rode that!” You tugged Dean’s sleeve eagerly pointing towards the bull, completely ignoring the conversation he was having with the owner of the establishment. Rather than waiting for him you rushed towards the pad, hoping the ring would have fallen from Dean’s pocket when the bull bucked him around or when it had sent him flying onto the mattress.
“Is it okay if we take a look around?” You heard Dean’s voice behind you was you dropped to your knees starting to search the floor.
“Yeah man, good luck. There’s been a lot of people past here last night since the two of you left through the backdoor,” the bartender spoke in a suggestive tone of voice and your eyes rolled to the back of your head. Still you kept searching only to be joined by Dean a few seconds later.
“Anything yet?” he questioned, making you look up from your search to glare at him.
“Yeah I already found it. I just really love crawling around on sticky barroom floors, where people most likely vomit every night.” Your obvious mockery made Dean sit up straight and stare you down.
“How long are you gonna keep blaming me for everything? I might not remember what happened last night but I know I didn’t drag you into my car, that much I know. You were there because you wanted to be, sweetheart,” Dean stated, never taking his eye off you, silently challenging you to talk back.
You wanted too. God knew you did, but he was right. Dean, as annoyingly idiotic and handsome as he was, didn’t strike you as the kinda of guy that wouldn’t take no for an answer. You had liked him, and if you pushed away your anger about this whole situation aside for a few seconds, you kinda also saw why. You had treated him like crap from the moment you had woken up, yet he was still here with you. He was still trying to be nice to you. Dean wasn’t a bad guy. You were the bitch.
“I’m sorry okay,” you spoke in a angry voice, but when you saw the surprised look on Dean’s face your voice softened. “This is frustrating and it is also now who I am. I don’t get drunk to the point, where I can’t remember the previous night and I don’t sleep with strangers and wake up naked in the back of cars.”
A warm chuckle left Dean’s chest, “well there’s a first for everything.” You stared at him wanting to yell at him but the raised eyebrow he send you made you break down in laughter along with him. You searched in quiet for a while after that before Dean decided it wasn’t there, helping you back on your feet.
“Now what?” You sighed, defeated throwing your arms from your sides into the air.
“Hey…” Dean took you completely by surprise when he grabbed your hand. You felt a shot of electricity course through your body, when his huge hand envelope yours. The butterflies in your stomach rendered you utterly speechless and you just watched him stare at the childlike ring on your hand.
“You like penguins.” Dean’s eyes found yours, but you still didn’t trust your voice so you just nodded. A big goofy grin graced Dean’s features as he repositioned your hand in his, dragging you towards the exist. “I remember where I took you.”
You didn’t say a word as Dean opened the car door for you and sent you a smile that made your heart skip a beat. ‘Y/n just focus on the damn ring. He is your brother-in-law’s brother. Don’t even go… oh look how pretty his eyes are when the sun… dammit Y/N!’
On the drive Dean explained to you how there was an aquarium no to far from the hotel, he had been staying at with Cas and Sam. Your mother hadn’t trusted the boys to be in the same hotel as you, your sister and the bridesmaids, which clearly had been a good call on her part. None effective but still a good call.
“They have a penguin exhibit here. I remember watching it with you,” Dean smiled at you, making your heart skip a beat, as he parked across the street from the aquarium.
“How? It was the middle of the night. They couldn’t have been open…” your jaw dropped as Dean pulled a teasing expression at you.
“You broke in?” You stared at him in disbelief as Dean opened the car door readying to get out.
“We, sweetheart. And technically no. We just jumped a fence,” Dean winked at you before you both got out of the car, walking side by side towards the aquarium. The entire time you couldn’t help but wish he would take your hand again, but he didn’t. He did however manage to talk his way into the Aquarium. Apparently the young guard, who were at the gate had also been working the night shift and he unlike his boss had found it more than a little funny, when he had found the two of you kissing beneath the underwater penguin habitat.
You walked to the fence Dean remembered, you having jumped but there was no sign of the ring. He took you to the tunnels of the exhibit that had been your destination last night and still nothing. A memory did however appear in your mind as Dean kept his eyes nailed to the ground searching for the ring. Yours however rested on him.
You remembered the warm feeling, when his strong arms wrapped around you. You remembered the bubbling happiness deep inside you as you watched the diving penguins with him. You remembered the butterflies and the way time had stood still when his lips had met yours in a tender kiss.
“YOU!” a voice thundered through the tunnels and Dean looked up instantly, before his eyes met yours.
“Well I guess that’s the boss,” Dean smirked at you, grabbing your hand as you felt the panic start to rise inside of you. Dean, however looked like he was having the time of his life as he dragged you through the halls of the aquarium and back toward the fence, he helped you scale. Once you were safely on the other side, you laughed with him as he took your hand, running with you away from the pissed off guard and the aquarium, where you had shared the first kiss with a man you barely knew, but who you weren’t no longer completely sure you weren’t in love with. ‘Y/N he is trouble. But that kiss. He might be worth it. Dammit Y/N focus on the damn ring!’
“Dean,” you stopped causing Dean to come to a halt with you before you let go of his hand. “The beach.” You ran across the street and towards the ocean with Dean closely behind you, before you stopped.
“Did we… I think we went swimming,” you looked up at him and you saw the realization dawn on him. You saw the memory enter his mind along with a small smile in his eyes, before it was replaced with frustration and then anger, when he realized what that meant.
“Son of a Bitch,” Dean yelled as he kicked the sand, making you jump. It was the first time you had seen him lose control like that and you slowly started to realize, just how much his brother really meant to him. You hated that the ring was gone, but more than that, you hated seeing Dean like this. You had no idea why. You barely knew the man, but the pain and anger in his eyes tore into your soul. You wanted nothing more than to hold him and to comfort him. You couldn’t. It wasn’t your place. You were a one night stand that neither if you even remembered. Holding him was not something you were entitled to do.
“Dean I am sorry,” your voice was soft as you ran a hand down his arm, “but we have to get back the the hotel and the wedding.”
“Yeah. Okay,” you could see the tears in behind his eyes and you hated it. You hated he was hurting and there was nothing you could do to make him feel better.
Your drive back to the hotel, after managing to sneak back to Dean’s car unnoticed, were quiet. You felt his pain. You felt guilty about the way, you had treated him but also for being part of the reason your sister weren’t getting her dream wedding. ‘What the hell are we gonna do?’ You looked at Dean and the expression on his face almost cost you tears. He was hurting and beating himself up over this. It was clear as day to you. You wanted to say something, do something to comfort him, but you had no idea what, so you stayed in your seat quiet.
You stayed in your seats for minutes after Dean had parked the car under the Hotel, just staring into nothing.
“Sam’s gonna kill me,” Dean finally broke the silence and you took a deep breath before adding to his thought.
“My sister is gonna kill us both,” your eyes met his and you tried your best to send him a reassuring smile, but it probably just came out as a grimace. “We need to get inside.”
Dean didn’t argue. He followed you out of the car and through the parking garage. As you were standing in the elevator waiting for it to bring you to the lobby, you took his hand. Dean didn’t look at you or pull away, he just gave your hand a small squeeze, letting you know without words, he appreciated the gesture.
You had barely stepped out into the lobby before a Meg and her husband, or who you assumed to be her husband Cas since you had never met him before, came running towards you.
“Where the hell have you two been? Ori is freaking out” Meg scolded before Cas spoke. His words directed at Dean, but not sounding much happier, “Sam about ready to kill you Dean. I was about to go search the local jails. What the hell were you thinking?.”
“Yeah he is not gonna be much happier now I am here,” Dean mumbled and you gave his hand a small squeeze, silently letting him know you were there for him. “I lost the rings,” Dean confessed as he looked his friend in the eyes. Cas’ eyes opened wide before he bend over laughing, which didn’t exactly improve Dean’s mood.
“What the hell Cas? How is that even the slightest bit funny?” Dean growled at the blue eyed man before you, who instantly stopped and pulled a small box from his pocket and handed it to Dean.
“You gave them to me before you went on that weird bull, you assbutt,” Cas grinned at Dean who just stared at the small box now in his hand with disbelief written all over his face. He quickly turned to face you with an apologetic look on his face.
“Y/N I am so sorry. I didn’t remember and I dragged you….” you didn’t give him time to finish. You just threw yourself into his arms, reacting purely on instinct and the relief and happiness coursing through your body.
Dean chuckled as he wrapped his arms around you holding you close for a few seconds before you pulled apart. The air was thick between you as you stared into each other’s eyes. ‘His eyes are so green. Is that gold? Fuck his lips looks so soft. I wish he would… wait is he going to kiss me?’
Meg’s hand closed around your arm pulling you backwards towards the elevators. Never in your life had you wanted to slap anyone so much as you did her right then. Well maybe except for Dean when he stated he had no idea if he had worn a condom last night. Still you wanted back in his arms and your eyes never left his as Meg dragged you backwards away from him.
“See you at the wedding, sweetheart,” Dean called after you and you couldn’t help but smile as you watch Cas haul Dean in the opposite direction.
Dean didn’t leave your mind as your sister scolded you, nor did he stray from your thoughts as you got dressed or drove with the bridal party to the church where Sam was waiting for Ori and maybe, just maybe Dean was waiting to see you.
Then it happened, right as you stepped into the church. Images of the night before began flooding your brain. Memories of how his lips had wandered all over your body. Memories of his hands covering your breasts as he pounded into you. Memories of your own screams of his name, echoed by his grunts of pleasure. Memories of the windows of the Impala fogging up as your entire body quivered with ecstasy. Memories of how sweetly he had kissed you for minutes after you had both found your release and memories of how you had fallen asleep in his arms feeling safe and cared for. Nothing about how those memories made Dean feel like a one night stand and still you couldn’t bring yourself to look at him as he walked you down the aisle. You felt his eyes on you as you sister said yes to Sam and Sam promised to love and honor her for the rest of their lives, but you never looked up. He couldn’t.
Your thoughts played tricks on you, imagining yourself making the same promises Ori had just made to Sam to his brother one day. ‘Stop it Y/N. Today is about them. You were just a fun night to him. Don’t do this to yourself.’
It wasn’t until after dinner and after Ori and Sam had shared their first dance as husband and wife you felt Dean’s hand on your arm. A soft touch begging for attention, before you turned around to face his bright smile. A smile that made the sun pale in comparison and made your heart skip.
“Wanna dance?” Dean asked you, looking almost shy and you couldn’t say no. Actually you couldn’t say anything so instead you just took his hand, just like you had the night before as he lead you towards his car. He wrapped his arm around your waist pulling you close to him, not unlike he had last night as he pressed you against the car door kissing you deeply before guiding you inside. The memory of how his rough calloused hands but touch had felt against your exposed skin made you look down and blush.
You could hear the smile in his voice as he spoke, giving your hip a small squeeze almost causing your legs to give way under you. “So you remembered too huh?”
A pit started to form in your stomach and your tears pressed against your eyes as you nodded, still not facing him. ‘He doesn’t feel the same Y/N. Just stop. You were a random girl on a random night. This will just be a funny story to him.’
Dean gently pressed two fingers underneath your chin, while his other arm stayed firmly wrapped around your waist, keeping you in place. Your eyes reluctantly met his and you sucked in a breath. You had not expected to see the love and warmth you found in them as he almost whispered, “I don’t regret anything Y/N. Only that I don’t remember every last detail.”
Your heart rate quickened along with your breathing as you made a quick decision. A decision you were absolutely sure you weren’t going to regret this time. You took Dean’s hand in yours and he let you drag him out of the hotel’s ballroom and into the lobby towards the parking cellar, where his shining black car was waiting for you. Dean didn’t speak, nor did you face him before you reached the same side of the car, he had pushed you against last night.
This time you made the first move, standing on your toes and crashing your lips against his. Your arms closed around his neck and his around your waist, as he allowed you to deepen the kiss. He held you but never once did he try to take control. He kissed you back, but he let you keep the lead right up untill you pulled apart, both slightly out of breath.
You bite your lip as you took a steep backwards opening the door to the backseat of the Impala and crawling in.
“What are you doing Y/N/N?” Dean send you a mischievous grin you didn’t hesitate to return as you held out your hand offering it to him, pulling him into the backseat with you.
“Making a memory that will last,” you promised before his lips found your pulse point, robbing you of all coherent thoughts. Nothing no longer matter. Not drunken nights, not lost wedding bands, not your sister and Dean’s brother’s wedding party upstair. There were only you and Dean and the knowledge you had found each other and the unspoken promise of never letting go again.

Songtale, Part 5
Neil Elliot stood there, in a pink tutu, facing down gigantic, axe-wielding, dark-hooded dogs. A child not even old enough to shave was facing down gigantic dogs with axes, who intended to slice him into silly putty, then steal his soul. Most would have been a bit...scared by this. Pants-wettingly so.
Well, it was a good thing Neil wasn't really wearing any pants. He WAS, however, severely regretting racing out into 30 degree weather with nothing but a pink ballerina outfit and ballet shoes on, and despite his best cheery smile, was clearly shaking more from cold than fear.
"Something smells...pink." The Dogaressa remarked aloud as she sniffed at the air, trying to focus in on the human child. "...it can't possibly be a human, can it? They said a human would come through here, but...is it a human?"
"It smells VERY pink." The Dogamy admitted with a nod at its beloved. "LOOKS rather pink too, even with my bad eyes I can see that. A little human girl? Is that what you are?" It inquired, Neil continuing to shiver in the cold as the wind nipped at him, and the Dogamy approached, looking like IT wanted to nip him.
Luckily, Neil had a plan. He waited until Dogamy got closer...closer...and then...
THWOOOM! With a bounding leap, he leapt high over the hooded dog as if playing leapfrog, then bounced right on top of the Dogaressa's head, landing behind her before doing a classic Karate Kid move...
Sweep the leg.
THA-THWOMP. Down she went, falling onto her side as Neil whipped about, the Dogamy growling and rushing forward, axe raised high. Neil took in a deep breath. He had died twice to the Dog couple when he'd been down to the Underground before, and he knew that the Dogamy always slashed forward and down, never side to side. So he swerved his body, the blade missing him by inches as he shot up and held up his knee, kneeing the Dogamy squarely in the muzzle and breaking the Snowdin Canine Unit member's nose.
"BAUGGGHH!" The Dogamy cried out, being knocked over into the snow and onto his beloved as Neil did a deep bow.
"Thank you, thank you, you've been a wonderful audience!"
"Oh, I think the show is only getting started." A voice rang out as Neil gasped, unable to properly turn around in time as he felt an almost icy-cold spear of pure blue magical energy piercing into him, its color as icy cold as his attacker's eyes as his lifeblood began to dribble down from his stabbed chest. Undyne's spear had found his mark and-
RESET
Now he was right back where he'd been only a few moments ago, and instead of a bow to the Dogamy and Dogaressa, he turned around, giving a bow to the very surprised Undyne, who stared at him behind her helmeted head as the rest of the Snowdin Canine Unit stared in surprise. "More people to watch me perform? I'm always happy for a good audience." Neil admitted, raising himself up and putting a hand on his chest. "I'm Neil Elliot. If you don't mind, I'd like you to just let me go to the lab? I'm supposed to meet Dr. Gaster."
"Ohhhh no you don't." Undyne told him, shaking her head as she manifested a spear, and hunched it over her shoulder. "I'm not interested in whatever Gaster wants with you. I don't care about his stupid little plans. We want your soul, human. So be a good little boy and hand it over, sissy."
Neil felt a bit of anger enter him. "Sissy? What, because I take ballet?!" He demanded to know.
The Snowdin Canine Unit began to giggle and chuckle, the Dogamy and the Dogaressa rising up.
"He's a boy?!" The Dogamy remarked. "In Heaven's name, why are you wearing a tutu?!"
"What sort of boy takes ballet?!" The Dogaressa groaned, shaking her head as Neil began to feel his cheeks flush. It was like his first weeks of school all over again, like being pointed at, mocked, everyone laughing, sneering, their faces filled with contempt at the young, blonde-haired lad exiting the gym after the lesson was over. A boy taking ballet. There were some things you just. didn't. do.
"What kinda MAN do you think you're gonna grow up to be if you're pretending to be a girl?" Undyne sniggered. "Ballet is for women! Just like shooting guns and wearing no shirt as you swing your gigantic sword is for guys." She added with a proud, shit-eating grin clearly shining out from behind her helmet. Neil could almost SEE it through the metal. He sure as Hell could HEAR it! "Guys don't take that dumb, girly-girl stuff! Hosting dinner parties, sure. Looking effeminate, yeah! Long hair, that's just fine, but...ballet!? What, did your balls drop off!?" She laughed.
"What a pussy!" Doggo snorted, lighting up a doggie bone and beginning to smoke it, sniggering a bit. "You're a little pussy, kid!"
Neil was now boiling mad. He'd never, EVER heard insults this bad before. As awful as some of the kids had been in school had been to him during the first few weeks of him taking ballet lessons at Squadron Line, none...NONE had ever, ever called him the names these people were. He was now shaking more from fury than from cold or fear, and his fists were tightly clenching. He wanted these people to hurt, and he wanted to be the one that hurt them. Over...and over. A cold, dark sense of purpose filled him as he heard Chara's soft whisper...
"Come on, partner. You know what you have to do."
Normally, he would have ignored her. But he was just...so...mad.
And so, he clapped his hands together, eyes closed, everyone blinking as he tapped his foot on the snowy ground below. They could almost feel the rhythm flowing through the air, hear the music of the Underground being tapped into as he began to sing in a distinctly Hispanic-flavored fashion, hot passion filling his lungs as he shot forward, and clasped Undyne's hands, actually dipping her down, his face inches from hers! Naturally...she just stared in muted shock.
"I ache for the touch of your lips, dear! But much more for the touch of your WHIPS dear!" He proclaimed, her helmet flopping off her head from the dip as she stared at him with her singular yellow eye, her ponytail flopping back, a stupefied expression on her face. "You can raise welts...like nobody else as we DANCE!"
THWOMP! He headbutted her face, some blood actually splurting forth from her forehead from the force, milky and slippery, letting go of her as he leapt backwards and did a pose. "To the Masochism tango!"
Doggo growled, his ears flattening against his head as he launched forward, his knives held tightly in his paws, swinging at Neil, who leapt backwards, spinning about to avoid his strikes. "Let our love be a flame, not an ember! Say it's me that you want to dismember!"
"Oh believe me, I DO!" Undyne yelled out, rising up from the snow, trying to find a good shot with one of her spears, but Doggo was in the way. The Snowdin Canine Unit Member then swung both knives at Neil as Lesser Dog shot forward as well, trying to tackle Neil when he ducked to avoid Doggo's strike. Doggo tackled Neil, slamming him into the snowy ground, but then Neil KICKED with both legs, Doggo gaping in surprise as Lesser Dog went sailing up...up! He spun about like a football in midair before sailing back down as Neil rose up, stepped back...
And then kicked him right into Doggo. Doggo was sent flying with Lesser Dog into a nearby tree, knocking it over with a mighty crash as Neil spun about before striking another pose. "Blacken my eye! Set fire to my tie as we dance to the Masochism Tango!" He proclaimed, leaping over to the barely-able-to-rise Lesser Dog, Doggo quite unconcious as Lesser Dog's very SOUL now seemed to flicker about, almost wanting to escape from the body! It looked as though he was inches from death, and Undyne gasped as Neil clutched it in one hand. "At your command! Before you here I stand! My heart is in my hand!...YECCH." He gave the SOUL a little squeeze, almost threateningly, Lesser Doggo shuddering a bit before Neil thrust the white heart right back into Lesser Dog's chest. Undyne gave Neil a dirty look as he took a single finger and pushed the armor-wearing white Pomeranian dog back, making him THWOMP right onto the unconscious Doggo.
"It's here that I must beee!" Neil sang out.
"You won't be here for long!" Undyne roared out, as the much larger, more impressive Greater Dog launched forward, its immense axe swinging about, left and right, up and down, trying to slice and dice Neil as he spun away from the dog, spinning right round, baby, right round, like a RECORD, baby!
"My heart entreats, just hear those savage beats! And go put on your cleats, and come and trample me!" Neil laughed in delight, ducking and swerving to avoid Greater Doggo's swiping strikes of his axe blade before leaping up and into a tree, grabbing hold tightly as he began ripping off a branch to make...of course...a stick. With a hard yank, he snapped it off, then hopped down, Greater Dog seeing the stick, mouth agape...before it began to pant heavily, bouncing up and down. Neil pretended to throw it, and Greater Dog bounded off, Neil turning back to the Dogamy and the Dogaressa, who were now standing by Undyne...
Who had her arm up, a HOST of blue spears having manifested high above her head. Oh dear. This could be tricky. Neil took in a deep breath, Undyne thrusting her armored arm forward as the spears barreled towards him in a thick wave, Neil leaping higher than he ever had before, even though a few spears knicked the sides of his legs and feet. He spun about, ducking and diving, ignoring the pain shooting through his legs as he continued to inch closer and closer to Undyne, working his way through the onslaught of spears. "Your heart is hard as stone or mahogany! That's why I'm in such exquisite agony!"
"Really, I thought it was my spears." Undyne growled, her one eye bulging furiously. Why in the Hell was this kid not dead yet!?
"My soul is on fire; it's a flame with desire!" Neil then finally got close enough. Bursting forward, ignoring the spear that slashed across one of his shoulders, he swept his leg forward and kicked high, knocking Undyne back and flat onto the snowy ground before doing a twisting leg-sweep that knocked the Dogaressa and the Dogamy onto the ground below as well. "Which is why I perspire when we tango!" He proclaimed, before giving another leap up, landing right on top of Undyne, and kicking at her face. THWACK, THWACK, THWACK! He kicked again, again, AGAIN, growling angrily. Call HIM a pussy, would they? He ought to-
He stopped, blinking a bit as he stepped off of her, panting heavily, clutching his chest as it slowly rose and fell. Undyne was glowering balefully at him, her own lifeblood oozing down from her near-broken jaw, a still-cracked-open forehead as she furiously growled. "I-I'm so-sorry, I...I didn't..." Neil murmured, realizing he'd gone too far.
Again.
"Come on, partner. Finish it."
"...NO!" Neil screamed out, racing away from the three, barreling off towards the river, heading for where he knew a certain, special monster would be. The cloaked and hooded Riverman, who ran a boat service for the Underground, taking people along the loooong underground river that ran all the way from Snowdin to Waterfall to Hotland. Panting and heaving, he approached the small dock, the hooded, unknown monster turning to him, tilting its head to the side.
"I am the Riverman. Or am I the Riverwoman? It doesn't really matter. I can take wherever you need to go." It informed him with a calm nod of its head. "Where shall you go?"
"Take me to Hotland, please! I need to get to the laboratory there." Neil said, turning around, seeing Undyne was getting back up, murder in her eye. "As fast as you can!"
"Tra la la. Climb on in." The Riverman remarked with a little whistle, Neil hopping into the boat as it rose out of the water, growing tiny little legs before barreling down the river, Undyne's furious roar echoing through the air as Neil sighed, flopping down into the boat as he laid on his back. He looked up at the almost endless darkness that was the roof of the Underground, seeing the stalactites passing by, the shimmering fake stars that were the glowing blue gems embedded in the walls...and he could remember that ugly, hateful urge that had crept up when he'd held Lesser Dog's soul...when he'd been kicking at Undyne's face...
That awful, rotten, painful urge. The temptation to HURT. To hurt like he'd been hurt. But no. NO. He'd promised himself to never do that again. He couldn't. He wouldn't.
"I feel so dirty." Neil whispered, covering his face, shuddering in disgust, not cold nor fear as he shook his head back and forth. "...dirty, dirty, dirty..." He murmured, unaware the Riverperson was staring down at him, turning away from the river, eyes gleaming out from the dark recesses beneath...
...
...
...
...Asgore sighed as he put down the cell phone. Undyne had a very bad report. The human had utterly decimated the Snowdin Canine Unit. They were barely still standing, and Undyne was in the worst shape of all. She was getting treated at the inn with the others and her mouth had been so filled with blood that it had been hard to understand her. Well, that, combined with the swears she'd belched out, along with the very graphic promises of what she'd do with the human when she caught him.
Asgore sighed, hanging his bearded head, holding it in his mighty hands as he stared at the nearby mirror across the room in his bedroom. He stared long and hard at the face that gazed back. It seemed so much older now. So much sadder, more depressed and more dejected. How long had it been since he was happy? How long had it been since he'd last...smiled? Really smiled?
He thought back to his family. He thought of the children dead because of what he'd done.
And he let the tears come.
Let it all flow out, like a river running! You cannot deny this...that your kingdom's falling again... It never eeeeends...
You gotta see your life will end in shambles, you learn to breathe, but you can see you're drowning! We rise and fall into a different level, Let your life drain out!
You're fighting back, don't know what you've been thinking! A walking burden, can't you see you're sinking?! Hiding in shadows, can you fight your demons, Can you face yourseeeeelf?
Neil covered his face with one arm, trying not to let the whisper of Chara dig into his mind. But it was becoming hard. With every battle he took part in, he knew Chara's influence would grow if he used violence at all. They fed off that Level of Violence, and he was terrified of the monster that was staring back at him from the reflection in the water. A monster that was him, and yet not him at all. Caked in dust and milky blood, eyes almost red. A sight he'd ignored so much until the day he'd murdered Undyne, and beat her to death, sinking into her remains beneath him...
"...so...dirty." He whispered, looking at his hands, quivering and shaking, almost feeling her pieces sliding down his fingers...
You will rise and fall...like a current about to end! You could end it all...but then what's left now to defeeend? It never eeeeeends...
"I know that you might think that our king isn't fair...leaves you gasping for air, breathing all this despaaair! This ocean of haaaaate!" The Riverperson softly sang out, Neil shuddering as he rose up, looking into its almost ethereal eyes that softly glowed out from within. He could feel it staring into his soul. He shook slightly, the Riverperson gazing intently, an almost soulless white into deep blue.
"...I don't...know." Neil whispered at last, hanging his head. "I'm afraid of what I can do. I'm really...really scared." He admitted. "When I first found out I had this power, it was...it was awesome! Who WOULDN'T want to undo every mistake they've made and do things perfectly? I used it to best bullies. To make friends. To avoid getting hurt and to learn everything I could ever need to know, and I loved it! I loved ALL of it!" He sighed and hung his head, the blonde hair flopping down. "But...then I started to get the consequences. That...that even then, what I did had an impact. If not on others, then on ME. A lot on me. And I could feel the weight dragging me down, almost drowning me. And I'm scared of what I can become. Scared of the worst of me. Scared that I'll look back in my reflection, and I'll see what everyone knows about me...that I'm really just a jerk. A jerk that just likes hurting people because I can get away with it."
"Is that what you think they think about you?" The Riverperson softly inquired, the boat continuing to glide along, though much slower now. "That you will only be judged by the worst you've shown?"
"Isn't that how everyone's judged? You remember the bad stuff more than the good."
The Riverperson sighed and then sat down across from Neil, looking into the child's face, its voice becoming warmer, softer. "Do you know who our first king was? Grillby, the owner and bartender of the Bar and Grill in Snowdin." He remarked, Neil sounding surprised by this, his face looking confused as Riverperson continued their tale. "He was...dark. He didn't much like humans at all. And he didn't take prisoners. He always made sure any we got would be rounded up and burned during the war. With him personally doing the burning."
Neil wasn't sure if he wanted to keep listening, but he stayed rooted to the spot, quietly staring as Riverperson went on. "Then one day, Grillby was standing before a bonfire, having begun to burn alive more prisoners. Someone just...just casually tossed a child at the fire. I don't remember who. Nobody does, to this day. Or perhaps...they don't want to own up to it. I think the latter is more likely. But when Grillby saw this, saw the child flopping just to the edge of the fire, I remember his expression. He'd never, EVER seen an infant human before, and he looked positively horrified at the sight, for it was still alive, and he...he couldn't bring himself to harm it. So he rushes down, hands outstretched. He lifts the youngling up into his arms to try and get it away from the fire, but he didn't realize that-"
Riverperson shuddered, his head hanging low before he spoke again. "...he had forgotten that he hadn't turned down the fire on his body. That it was still raging and furious and...normal people can't touch an elemental when they're like that. An elemental of flame has to turn their body temperature down through will in order to let others touch them. It's a sign of trust and respect, and...and Grillby wasn't THINKING, he was just trying to pick the child up and get it away, but-but it...it was burned in his arms on its back and it almost shrivelled up like cooked meat and so I snatched it away, and Grillby is just staring at his hands, and at the now dead child in my arms..."
Neil stared silently, looking deep into the Riverperson's dark hood, almost seeing the tears streaming down Riverperson's face. "And...and it was gone. Just like that. Grillby hadn't meant to. But...after that, he stepped down from being king. But nobody really remembers that. They remember him in his little tuxedo. Wearing his glasses. The softness behind his eyes, with him cleaning off the bar...or cleaning out a glass. Because..." River took in a deep breath. "...he took the time to...to change. To show he was different. Better. But that's how people remember him. They remember the day-to-day kindness he showed. That one, awful moment...as terrible as it was...it didn't define him, because he didn't LET it define him."
Riverperson's head rose up. "You don't need to let the worst moments of your life define you any more than it defined Grillby. Your kindness, your...Integrity...can define you. If you only let it."
Neil was quiet for what seemed to be a long, long time as the boat came to a halt in Hotland, and he held his hands in his lap. His head hung low before, at last, he lifted it up. "You're right." He murmured. "I'll...I'll try. Try not to let the worst of me be what others see. I'll try to take responsibility. I'll try to be careful."
The Riverperson rose up, and gave a sage nod, Neil exiting the boat as the intense warmth of Hotland bathed over Neil. He stepped across the dusty natural pathways, the immense laboratory off in the distance...where he knew Bonnie laid.
"...I'm coming." He promised. "I'll have you out of there and with Frisk before you know it."

WIP fics~
I’ve mentioned the fact the I’m writing fanfiction a few times in the tags, but I have yet to post any of them (I suffer from the case of incomplete fics), so I feel like posting the WIP versions here partially to prove that I am actually writing things, and partially for advice/criticism... So enjoy I guess? (This will be updated as WIP fics are updated :P)
Tired Spoon [Mumbo fluff, 3/5 complete]
Mumbo smiled, stepping back as he looked at his finished project. It had taken him a while to build his new storage system, but it was done, and he was chuffed to bits about it. Well, he still needed some of the filters, but that could come later. The main mechanism was working, and the rows and rows of chests had been placed. He’d worked non-stop on it, fixing issue after issue in the circuitry, unused as he was with this new type of storage system that worked using new features from the 1.15 and 1.16 updates that had sent redstoners everywhere into a frenzy. It wasn’t the most efficient system out there, but he’d designed it all on his own and he was proud of it. And now, now it was all working. And he was far more tired than he’d realised when he was absorbed in his work, a small sigh escaping his lips. Despite this, he frowned as he looked at the undecorated area, knowing he could clean it up a little first. It would only take a few stacks of concrete, he told himself, and surely he still had some somewhere.
He walked towards the neatly labelled chest, opening it and frowning at the lack of concrete in there. He’d have to make some more then, though he swore that he had more than this just moments ago. Closing the chest, he let out another small sigh which quickly turned into a yawn as he thought of all the digging and crafting he still had to do to get the area looking decent. Maybe he should use cyan terracotta there, though perhaps grey concrete would fit better… He felt a firm hand on his shoulder, and just about jumped out of his skin as Iskall turned him around, looking at the mustached man with worry in his eyes. ‘Mumbo, are you okay there dude? This project is looking mega cool and all, but when was the last time you took a break?’ Iskall asked, concern colouring his voice. Mumbo blinked, about to push his friend’s arm off his shoulder before pausing. How long had it been? It didn’t feel like that long, but if it was long enough that Iskall, the one who had disappeared for nearly a week straight while working on his tree was worried, then it must have been longer than he thought. ‘Oh, well, that depends. What day is it again? I think I started working on it last… Monday?’ Yes, last Monday sounded about right. He’d lost track of the days after, well, he couldn’t exactly recall the day, but he recalled that the last time he’d checked the date, it had been Thursday. ‘Dude, the last time any of us saw you was nearly a week ago.’ Impulse chimed in. How long had he been there? In fact, Mumbo realised, when had any of the eight hermits that surrounded him even arrived? Had he really been tired enough that he didn’t even notice the sound of them arriving? Or maybe it was the click of dispensers and the rushing of water that had drowned their footsteps out, sounds that had been surrounding him for long now that he didn’t even remember that they were there. ‘Oh… But wasn’t it just the other day when I bought those redstone components from xB? Surely it can’t have been more than a-’ ‘Mumbo, that’s the last sighting that Impulse was talking about.’ The kind hermit said, brows furrowed. Mumbo frowned in response, trying to think against the tiredness that was trying to overtake him now that he wasn’t focused anymore. Maybe he had been focused on this project for far too long after all, but he still had to place that concrete. Just that and then it would be done for now. Just a few more blocks. ‘Oh. Well, I’m nearly done with this project, I just need to decorate the-’ As soon as Mumbo uttered those words, he could see that the hermits were not going to let that slide. ‘Nuh-uh buddy, you’re not going to be touching anything until those bags that are haunting your eyes have completely disappeared.’ Tango said, swatting his hand away from the chest that he barely recalled moving towards, other hermits nodded in agreement with Tango’s words.
Mumbo found himself with no chance to speak as the hermits swiftly moved, pulling him away from his project despite his weak complaints. He noticed Grian going through his chests and pulling out a spare change of clothes, and, looking down, realised how covered in redstone he was. His suit looked like it would need a few rounds of washing before it’d begin to resemble its former glory. Herded along by the hermits before his tired brain had a chance to register anything else, he found himself sitting in the guest room of Grian’s mansion, being told to get changed and have a shower as a pile of soft-looking clothes was thrust at him by Iskall. He nodded sleepily, and the hermits left to give him some privacy.
. . .
As he closed the door, Iskall looked at the hermits in front of him.
‘So now that that’s done, what’s the plan?’ He asked the room full of people.
‘He can stay at my place for now, but someone will need to watch him to make sure he gets some rest.’ Grian responded.
‘I can watch his gorgeous face for a few hours, since I don’t live too far away!’ Stress volunteered. ‘Besides, I kinda feel a bit guilty that I didn’t check on ‘im sooner…’ She added softly. The hermits fell silent at that, Impulse putting a hand on her shoulder as if to reassure her.
‘I can help watch our tired friend as well.’ Scar said, breaking the tension that had filled the room. In the end, Stress, Scar, xB, and Iskall all volunteered to watch Mumbo, though from the hushed discussion between Impulse and Tango it seemed like they might be planning something else to surprise the overworked redstoner.
Slightly worried that it was taking so long for Mumbo to get changed, Grian and Iskall decided to check on him. However, the creak of the opening door only revealed their mustached friend fast asleep on the bed, not even under the covers due to how quickly his tiredness had caught up to him. Iskall let out a quiet chuckle at this, only to be overdramatically shushed by Grian.
‘Be quiet, he’s sleeping!’ Grian whispered in his best motherly voice.
‘You’re being louder than I am!’ Iskall whisper-yelled back at him. The two looked at each other for a second, before stifling their giggles that they simply couldn’t contain.
‘Since you’re being so motherly, why don’t you tuck him in and kiss him goodnight then?’ Iskall murmured through his laughter.
‘Only if you help!’ Grian quietly responded.
And that is how they spent the next half an hour, the two men still stifling their laughter as they struggled to gently tuck Mumbo under the soft woolen covers of the bed.
. . .
Mumbo woke up with a start, unsure as to where he was due to the unfamiliar surroundings. He vaguely recalled the events of the previous day, and, looking up at the spruce roof, figured that he must still be at Grian’s mansion.
He sat up, pushing the red blankets off of himself as he did so, and looked around the room. It was most definitely Grian’s base, his friend’s distinct style easily recognisable to the redstoner. He noted the neatly folded suit on the nightstand, a note on top written in what looked to be Iskall’s handwriting.
‘HEY DUDE HERES A CHANGE OF CLOTHES THAT GRIAN GRABBED FOR YOU. IM PROBABLY IN THE FOYER IF ITS STILL MY SHIFT WHEN YOU WAKE UP. XB MADE FOOD AND WE SAVED YOU SOME SO COME EAT’
Mumbo smiled as he read the note, placing it back down next to the clothes. Should he bother to get dressed before having breakfast? Or maybe brunch would be a more accurate term, the disheveled man corrected himself as he looked out the window at the sun that was already high in the sky.
In fact, he realised, he had yet to actually look at the clothes he had so sleepily put on yesterday. Looking down, it appeared that Grian had also nabbed a pair of Mumbo’s usual night wear when he grabbed the suit, with the familiar loose white top and baggy grey pants, although, Mumbo realised, the shirt was most definitely on backwards.
He ended up getting changed and quickly doing his hair (and mustache) simply because of how disheveled he looked, especially in comparison to how he liked to present himself. He didn’t know how he managed it, but apparently his sleeping position managed to mess up his mustache completely out of shape, though a bit of careful combing fixed it easily enough.
He finally emerged from the room out into the hall, admiring how good of a builder Grian was as he did so. Everyone on the server was ridiculously talented, and Grian’s talents laid in building, as clearly shown in the sights before him.
Mumbo could hear two hermits arguing with humour in their voices as he approached the foyer. It sounded like Scar and Stress, though he was unsure as to what exactly they were arguing about, as by the time he got close enough to hear they’d resorted to joking insults.
‘Mumbo! You’re finally awake!’* Scar said as he spotted his mustached friend. Stress whipped her head around at an alarming speed to look at the man who was awkwardly standing in the doorway, a wide smile spreading across her face, only for the corners of her mouth to turn downwards as her face became serious.
‘You better not scare us all like that ever again, aight?’ She said seriously, striding up to the redstoner. Mumbo looked at the irritated hermit nervously as she approached, not entirely sure what her plan was. Despite his uncertainty showing clearly on his face, she walked right up to him, then stopped, wrapping her arms around him as the frown fell off her face.
‘I was worried when I saw your gorgeous face all tired like that. We all were.’
‘...I’m sorry.’ Mumbo said awkwardly, not entirely sure how to react, settling on returning the hug for now. Stress squeezed him tightly for a moment before letting go, ducking out of his arms, and moving back to a more comfortable distance.
‘In case you were wondering, you were asleep for nearly an entire day, which I actually found rather impressive. Also, Tango and Xisuma say you’re not allowed to work on any projects for another two days, and if they see you working on something you’re apparently going to be in a lot of trouble.’ Scar relayed with a smile, Stress confirming his words with an enthusiastic nod.
Despite the threat of Tango and Xisuma’s wrath Mumbo found himself smiling, knowing that they all cared for him. That was not to say that he had thought that they didn’t, although he’d be lying if he said that doubt had never clouded his mind on particularly lonely nights. Just knowing that his friends loved him enough to do all of this warmed his heart beyond words, and their stern words of concern carried only good intentions.
Silence fell over the room, heavy with awkwardness, until Mumbo spoke up again.
‘Uh, Iskall said- Or rather, the note said that xB had made food and you saved me some?' He said awkwardly, uncertain as to how long it'd been since Iskall left the note, or if it had even been Iskall who left the note after all.
Stress blinked, as if to pull herself out of a dream world before speaking. 'Oh right. I'm not sure if it's still good, breakfast was a while ago now love. Do you want me to make you something instead?'
*’Hey you! You’re finally awake!’ I thought, proceeding to leave the ooc sentence in. ((This fic is mostly complete, just need to write the ending (Tango and Impulse finish up Mumbo’s sorting system, bit more fluff) and fix up the dialogue a bit. Okay so it’s actually not that complete but shush.))
Wels Sleep [Actual title to be determined, angst or hurt/comfort, half complete]
Wels woke up more tired than he'd ever been. His entire body felt heavy as he pulled himself up into a sitting position, and yet he was determined not to go back to sleep. There were things to be done, and even if he only managed to do a little bit, that was still more productive than sleeping the day away.
He struggled to put on his oddly heavy armour, a tired sigh escaped his lips as he started brewing some tea, and he couldn't help but yawn as he finally sat down again. The hot tea helped wake him up somewhat, but at this rate he'd collapse as soon as he got out the door.
Something seemed off about the view outside, but at another glance it seemed like everything was in the right place, even if he couldn't shake the feeling that something had changed. There was the same crazy build battle, and the same castle wall, so it must have been the rain that threw him off, or perhaps the tiredness that weighed down his bones was affecting his head as well. The trip through the nether was suffocating, the heat that pressed around him making him wish for the comfortable weight of blankets, and he was thankful for the cool air of the overworld once the journey that seemed to take far too long was over. Though he had to admit, there seemed to be a few more portals than he remembered. When his oddly tired eyes saw the rest of the medieval district, the medieval district he hadn't gotten around to building yet, the place which had seemingly grown several houses overnight, his growing suspicions were confirmed. He'd gone on hiatus.
He internally thanked whatever had given him the drive to stay awake, as if he'd gone back to sleep he probably would have slept in another week, but now the question was how long he'd been out for. From the look of the builds it must have been at least a month, but he couldn't say much more than that. There wasn't anything in the medieval district that he could tell the time from, so he'd have to check with the other hermits to know exactly how long it'd been.
This wasn't his first hiatus on the hermitcraft server, but it still felt odd, knowing that he'd been asleep for... However long it had been, especially knowing how much stuff the hermits could get done in under a month. No doubt he'd have trouble even finding the landmarks he was used to navigating with, although New Hermit... Ville? New Hermiton? He wasn't entirely sure, but it looked relatively unchanged.
Speaking of hermits, he thought, who was online right now? He raised his wrist to check his communicator hadn't broke during the time he'd been out, and luckily it looked like it was without scratches. It did take a few taps before it finally started, which was odd, because communicators usually only had issues on inactive servers, and Hermitcraft was anything but inactive when he left. Perhaps it was his communicator?
Either way, he made a mental note to talk to Xisuma about that, and looked at the screen before him. It had the usual joining message, but none of the 'Hey Wels!' he'd come to expect from the server. Looking at the list of those awake, it was easy to see why - no other names were listed underneath his, which struck him as odd. Usually there was at least a hermit AFK at a farm somewhere, as opposed to the unfamiliar sight of the completely empty server list before him.
Wels blinked, shaking his head slightly as he came back to reality. It was probably nothing, and he was still curious about the progress the hermits had made while he was out. So, with a shake to unfurl his wings, he instead decided to go for a fly around the server - knowing the hermits, even the terrain was probably different. Although he had been preparing himself for this, it was still a very weird feeling as he found himself unfamiliar with parts of his surroundings, the completed minecart tracks that slowly disappeared out of sight a bitter reminder that he had been gone longer than he knew.
The list of new structures grew and grew, and he wondered so hopelessly how long he'd been out as the hours passed with no other hermits logging on. If something bad had happened, they'd surely have left *something* to explain the events that took place, but the eerie silence simply filled his bones with a deep dread.
The shopping district was filled with stocked shops but no profits, just chests and chests of products and prices, yet not a single diamond in sight. Some shops were sold out, or had stacks missing from them, but it looked liked no recent customers had stopped by, not even in the most frequented shops. Cherry computers, the most profitable business on the server that Wels could so clearly recall [] complaining was sold out of repeaters again just yesterday, yet now the entrance was blocked off and nearby a giant timer using diamonds instead of sand with a Cherry Computers logo on top towered menacingly above the shopping district that wasn't his shopping district.
(TW: attempt at writing a sort-of panic attack? Not very good but fair warning anyway) He found himself staring at the floor, trembling, the only one online with no one to walk him through what had changed overnight even though it was not overnight and why wasn't anyone online and why wasn't there a sign somewhere, anywhere, something to explain what had happened when he wasn't there even though he should have been there with them but he didn't get a choice and why wasn't anyone online-
When Wels finally regained his sense of self enough to check where he was, he found himself inside of [], holding a stack of golden carrots that he was sure hadn't been in his inventory earlier. He vaguely recalled prying open the chest with shaking hands, although he could not remember if he had paid. A quick check of the chest revealed that he hadn't left any diamonds in compensation for the food in his hands, although he couldn't help but wonder if it was even necessary with the state of the shopping district. Despite his doubts, he left the appropriate amount of diamonds anyway, not wanting to risk the chance that the haunting silence was all in his head.
His communicator showed that no one else was online.
Despite the fruitlessness of it, he found himself typing a message into the chat. It was only a simple 'Hello?', but he couldn't help but hope that he would receive a message back. Perhaps his communicator had broken, he thought, and someone would be online and able to respond to his message.
The unchanging display declared that as untrue.
Finally, he gathered up his courage and walked back outside. He didn't need anything else from the shopping district, and even being out here once again triggered his anxiety, so he figured it was time to go back to his base. He'd figure out what to do next over a cup of tea, which he could certainly use right now. Xisuma and Biffa always loved tea, he thought bitterly, the face of his old friends surfacing at the mention. No, he corrected himself, Xisuma and Biffa were still alive and enjoying tea, and he would see them again soon. He couldn't give up hope just yet.
That tea was the worst he'd had in a while, bitter with the taste of his thoughts despite all the sugar he desperately added in an attempt to overwhelm the doubts that haunted him.
The list that declared him alone on the server did little to help. The next day he felt far more awake, almost too much so. It gave his mind far too much power to fill the silence, and so he decided to work on a project that involved noises. A doorbell, perhaps? Or maybe a mob farm. It didn't matter, just something else for his mind to focus on instead of the mystery as to where his friends were, and why they hadn't told him. Well, they couldn't have *told* him specifically, but sending a private message or placing a sign or book would have achieved the same effect.
At that thought, he once again looked at the communicator, and switched over to the last private messages he had received. It was the third time he'd checked, but it wouldn't hurt to check again. Unsurprisingly, the latest message remained an inquiry as to possibly collaborating on a project that had since been completed, something he'd noted as he flew about the server.
He decided to work on [project here] instead. The repetitive *clonk* of placing blocks drove away his thoughts for a while, more interested in getting measurements right than pondering the fate of his friends, but all too soon he got into a rhythm, and his worries made themselves known again. Frustrated he looked down at his feet, focusing solely on the task at hand with all his might, but it was no use, as seconds later he caught himself zoning out and theorizing as to what had happened again.
((Inspired by this post, Wels sleeping through season six angst, though with a bit of canon divergence sprinkled in.
