Who initiated the relationship between the Lamb, Narinder, and Ewe?

I would say the lamb, initially; after they and Narinder found Ewe, the lamb took her recovery and happiness as their responsibility, wanting to make sure she had the life that she deserved - that they'd BOTH deserved. And while romance wasn't on their mind in the beginning, as she began to emerge from her shell (she was pretty much catatonic and non-verbal at the beginning), they eventually fell head over heels for her~

Narinder wasn't against Ewe's presence, and he couldn't blame the lamb for their enthusiasm in taking responsibility for her, but he did work to keep the lamb grounded throughout the whole ordeal (at first, they wouldn't leave her out of their sight for a moment). Once the lamb returned to crusading, they left Narinder as her watch, and he soon found out why the lamb had become so taken with her, particularly by her eagerness to learn and (albeit reluctant) connection with death.

From Ewe's point of view, once she'd exited survival mode, she soon felt like a burden: encroaching on the lamb and Narinder's established life. It didn't help that the followers in The Flock were at no loss for gossip, filling her ears with even more reasons why she had no place on the cult grounds. She tried avoiding the lamb and Narinder, excusing herself from their conversations and gently refusing their requests to help her with whatever she was busy with.

These tensions came to a head eventually, though, forcing the three to confess their intermingling feelings for one another. They took things slowly after that, wanting each member of their throuple to feel comfortable and seen, eventually creating a rather tight-knit bond.

little seiji must have thought shinobu hung the moon. based on the way he talks about her now, and the way he seems to have modeled kuromisa's appearance after her...like he needed to create an air of mystique that people would be drawn to and he immediately went well just dress up like nee-san. he worshipped her in that special younger sibling way. how did her resentment of him shape the person he's become? what did her leaving the clan do to him?

I think the reason that MTMTE remains the most defining, influential, and loved series in the IDW1 run is fundamentally because, despite its many flaws, MTMTE has the power to make you think and wonder about the world beyond what's shown on the page. The character relationships are so strongly developed that it's easy to care about the characters and easy to imagine further adventures they could go on. While the myriad dropped plotlines, underwritten/underutilized characters, and worldbuilding with weird implications are all fucking maddening at times... even if it makes you mad, MTMTE makes you mad because you care and it makes you want to immerse yourself into a world that feels like it's real beyond what's explicitly shown to you on the page. It's a sandbox of a story where there's so much fertile ground for pretty much anyone with any preferred character archetype, storyline, etc to dig in.

It's just... immersive. That's the best way I can put it. It feels like it could be real and it makes you want to spend more time in it than the constraints JRO had. It makes you want to know more about it and come up with theories on how/why things function or happen the way they do. That's why it's loved and that's why it's the best series in IDW1.

i sort of feel like the longer this show goes on the more i will grow in indifference toward it and then at some point things will shift and i’ll be able to enjoy it again but from like a detached horror-appreciating perspective because i don’t love the characters how i used to anymore and i no longer feel invested in them being good and okay
