coming back to this because TIL dawn french and jennifer saunders are dream gets for alex?? he's even asked dawn before but she was too busy at the time but it was a "close get"....!! i'm thinking about all the famous older comedians whose kids were fans of the show which helped convince them to do it.... i'm praying and hoping that dawn and jennifer's kids talk them into it somehow when they aren't too busy!! one new years special is all i need if they can't do a series please i'm on my hands and knees
every day i mourn that taskmaster was not a thing in the early 2000s to early 2010s because ade was doing a bunch of reality competition TV stuff around that time (fame academy, hell's kitchen, masterchef, bake off) so I feel like if it was an established show back then he would've done it. and he was weirdly good at those things?? he got third in fame academy, won star baker in gbbo, was a finalist on hells kitchen, and won masterchef. he would've absolutely slayed any musical or cooking task. there's still hope he'd do it I guess, the oldest tm contestant at time of filming was 64 years old and ade is 67, but I feel like it wouldn't be the type of thing he does nowadays? (i'll still manifest though)

5:38am, the lakehouse
Alex would never say it, but Henry knows. He knows how close he came to ruining the lakehouse for Alex when Henry left him in the lake. When Henry left him in the bunk beds.
When Henry left him.
It’s Alex’s self-professed second favorite place in the whole world—right below the circle of Henry’s arms on one of his many lists. So this trip, their first trip back after everything hit the fan and somehow came out confetti instead of shit, is possibly the most important trip of Henry’s life.
It’s just them this time. Just him and Alex: basking in the sun like overgrown lizards, playing in the water, filling up the house with the sounds of Alex’s music and the scent of migas in the morning and ribs in the afternoon. It’s the two of them flirting all day and abandoning any kind of civilized schedule for sex all over the property whenever the mood strikes them.
The weather has been kind, no storms or excessive humidity—just one perfect Texas day after another, the sun making Alex glow even more than he usually does. He’s a sight to behold at any hour: lazy mornings when he grins at Henry over his giant mug of coffee, high noon when they retreat to the back deck for some shade on the swing, late afternoon on the lake when the setting sun sparkles off the water and in Alex’s eyes, purple dusks when the only light is from the moon and the fire burning low.
But there’s nothing like the sight of Alex at sunrise.
Alex comes into focus as the light changes from deepest night, the sweat at his hairline highlighted in the weak grey of false dawn. Dust motes dance and swirl amidst Alex’s gasping pleas as the sun peeks over the horizon, washing the underside of clouds in brilliant orange and pinks. The unruly mess of Alex’s brown hair—tousled from hours of moving over and with and under Henry on the bed—looks like strands of burnished copper as the sun climbs steadily higher and burns brightly in the clear blue sky.
Henry collapses—utterly exhausted—next to an equally spent Alex with a contented sigh. Chronic insomnia is usually heinous, especially on their vacation, but occasionally, like tonight, like this morning, he and Alex indulge in the opportunity. Henry kept Alex on the edge—letting him get close a few times and then backing away before finally, finally, giving them both what they wanted and pushing Alex over the edge, following him helplessly right after—the only sounds this morning are the birds and the waves of the lake lapping on the shore. For now, Alex doesn’t need to fill the peaceful silence, and Henry doesn’t need words to bask in the afterglow. It’s still a rare treat, to be together like this with no official obligations pulling either of them away. Eventually, they’ll leave this cocoon of their bed—for sustenance, for another canoeing adventure, for a shower. But for now, all Henry needs is air to breathe.
And Alex next to him, sharing it with him.

໒꒰ྀི´ ˘ ` ꒱ྀིა PROFILE, TWILIGHT status: jealous of the moon who sees you more than he scaramouche was a prodigy child turned delinquent. Due to his antics being too disruptive, his mother told him that enough is enough and had to turn to her distant relative to help her son out because she realized the CEO position that scaramouche had worked for wouldn’t work out for him since he’s too prone to his emotions despite striving to be the best. She realized the best way is to allow her son to grow in a normal experience.
fun facts about scaramouche:
plays the guitar
sometimes uses kaomoji in his texts
when he goes to the cafe, he (almost) always picks the most bitter drink but when he's with her, he picks the same matcha latte as name does, because "she knows the cafe best" (like ok, dude...)
secretly a miffy fan
black cat
personal headcanons that you should know:
porcelain skin, slight tan in the summer
light freckles, one mole under his eye
dyed indigo hair (fresh when he goes, outgrown and black natural hair growing back at the end)
cuts his hair in the series more frequently, later, grows it out
dark eyes with indigo eye contacts
wears glasses
sunken eyebags
red eyeliner
relationships with characters in summer flow:
with his biological mother: when he was younger, he wanted to have her approval, she used to dote on him and give him heavy affection. Since the birth of his younger sister, Mikoto, she had disregarded him as waste. Scaramouche rebelled against this, trying to gain the attention of his mother once more just before she tossed him aside to his auntie nahida, an older lady who’s shorter than him.
with Mikoto: he despises her existence despite her attempts to make her older brother to acknowledge him.
With nahida: scaramouche thinks it’s a ploy to make him behave and go back home from his mother. but when he heard from nahida that it wasn’t, and his mother wanted him to behave and learn how to be raiden tm figure. He wanted to fight nahida and the world until he (was forcibily) meets name.
With name: despite being undoubtedly insufferable to name, she doesn’t seem to mind. from his view, it was a first girl who hung out with him not for money and not for his riches or simply because he was beautiful. Eventually spending more time with her made him fall in love with her.
He wanted to kill name, or at least intimidate her with his presence. After realizing he likes name, unable to cope to be vulnerable, he wanted to control her and wanted her wrapped around his finger. When that didn’t happen, solely because he was the one wrapped around her finger.
name put him on mlp and compared him to twilight for not liking friendship
Childe, a friend of his: well, friend is a broad term. If scaramouche was able to describe it, he’s a symbiote bonded to him, a pest at most. Due to the sudden trip to Sumeru, he wasn’t able to contact childe for a long time.
post-it-note: images are a placeholder, each character has a link to their own playlists on the kaomoji, back to the pin board 𓈒 𓈒 𓈒 visit dawn?

-1 "sad outburst" point for his reaction to those memories. he's not only sad because they are dead, he's sad because in his mind, this is his fault

Chap 6:
-1 "action" point for basically asking what he needs to do to be allowed to live

Please keep following the sports! We are almost halfway trimax!

Okay, so, wild speculation time but: I think Nashi could appear in Duskmourn: House of Horror. Like, in a major role.
Now, I, obviously, do not wish harm upon Tamiyo's beloved ratperson son, but also I think there are a bunch of factors that make it make sense for this to happen. [Edit to add: uh wait hang on we got some Duskmourn art in the [admittedly too long] I spent writing this?! Really?!]
Like, enough that I'm going to stick a "read more" in here.
Anyway, to start off: Wizards probably does need some established characters to Experience the Horrors. Like, there's the idea of horror as corrupted familiarity - already-known characters can be a source of said familiarity. It's why all those Pokémon creepypastas exist[1]. Also every set has at least some tie, at the very least thematically, to the larger plot (yes even Zendikar Rising). This, obviously, doesn't necessarily mean Nashi, specifically, has to be there, but it is relevant context for all the rest of this.
Nashi is teen-coded [I do not know quite how old he's meant to be, and him being a Nezumi might complicate it, but he is still A Teen in every important respect]. Now, I am no Modern Horror Expert (tm), but a lot of those stories do focus on teen characters and... in terms of the present timeline we have Nashi, Kellan and. Uh. Shadowblayde-with-a-y? Like there are not that many Teen characters, especially with the recent timeskips. Like, Rat might technically be 19 at the youngest now. And, speaking of Rat, well, with apologies to her fans, I think we're still close enough to War of the Spark for Wizards to be nervous about introducing a new character to be the token teenager [in the main story. There might be other Teenaged Horror Protag/Victim creature cards in there].
Nashi also just starred in a story in a set with 43 other Legendary Creatures [not including Commander exclusives, or Loot], despite not getting a card himself. This might just be because Wizards let Akemi Dawn Bowman write whatever for her OTJ side-story, but there might well be a reason they brought Nashi back here. (I mean, it's a good story, and sometimes Side Stories are just there, but I'm assuming relevance for the sake of argument.)
"A Long Way From Home" further established Nashi's power as cameras - indeed, his entire thing as telling stories through cameras. The very limited information we have for Duskmourn includes the set logo. Which has freaking scanlines. Also cameras and found footage and people attempting to record the horrors for posterity are all modern horror staples [I would do a list but it would get long]. Again, Nashi is the clearest link to these tropes 'normally', and he's just about reckless enough that him getting involved doesn't seem particularly OOC.
Finally, Nashi uses his OP camera powers to steal an "elixir" described thusly: "The liquid was deep red and unmistakably metallic. There was no writing on the bottle, but Nashi's nostrils flared when he picked up its scent. The magic was abhorrently pungent, and the stench made his eyes water.".
I don't think anyone has managed to ID this incredibly suspicious potion. He presumably went ahead and drank this stuff, or otherwise still has it. I would not be surprised if it actually had some ties to the horror plane/plane horror and drinking this mysterious red liquid is part of how you end up on/in Duskmourn (like, it has the urban legend feel to it, and the power, or other desired thing, at an extreme and unpredictable price implemented by an almost cosmic force is also a big horror thing that falls outside of the Innistrad remit). Like this is pure speculation, to be clear, but it also really fits the vibe imo.
SUPER DUPER BONUS POINT
Kaito confirmed for Duskmourn! I mean. Kaito was mentioned in Nashi's story, because Nashi still has very complex feelings about the "Kaito didn't save my mom" thing. So it's a point in favour! But also, like, I feel as if Nashi would be in that type of art if he was appearing, so...
[1] Point adapted from Supereyepatchwolf, who used the phrase "dissolution of our world's boundaries" from... uh, I'm not sure where, Googling gets stuff about demon summoning (like... results about it in those words, thanks 'AI'), and a video he referenced didn't seem to use it in the first several minutes but using "normalcy" as part of said boundaries. (ngl, I like "corrupted familiarity" better).

One of those things they never explain because Star Wars Is Bad At Explaining Things(tm) is why Vader and the Inquisitors disappear after season 2. If I had to guess, numbers issues and priorities shifting. For some reason, they never replenish the Inquisitorious's numbers, so dealing with someone who never finished his formal training and his padawan, they were going to count Ahsoka's defeat as a victory and focus on more important things.
Namely, Maul. How Maul is never seen with his Crimson Dawn assets in the series despite the Solo film setting it up and comics thereafter showing it still went strong without him for years, I assume they parted ways for unspecified reasons (Q'ira *cough cough*). The Eighth Brother followed him to Malachor, meaning Maul got on the Inquisitorious's radar at some point. Dealing with him must’ve taken priority, though they never managed to get him.
If you apply that lens to season 3, you could argue that Gar Saxon's sudden cracking down was to prevent Maul from seizing potential assets. The first to join the Shadow Collective were a Mandalorian splinter group, and while I have my suspicions of the Children of the Watch, a starfighter squadron that has more ties to a rebel cell than the Empire can tolerate would take priority. There might be similar scenes across the galaxy with the Pykes and the Black Sun for that matter.
Though naturally, this is supposition from a fan who’s unlikely to be proven right, and in fact, there’s a good chance that a future story will completely contradict it.

What was the yangchen scene that infuriated you so much?
I'm glad you asked!
(I say as if I didn't leave that last one as bait.)
But I'm warning you, the explanation is going to be underwhelming for my level of rage. I'm just so sick of this kind of thing. Spoilers below the cut for both Dawn and Legacy.
In Dawn, the weapon Yangchen had been chasing the whole book turns out to be a trio of Combustion Benders working for the villain. This is treated as something completely unheard of, and no one is even capable of speculating how it might be possible.
In Legacy, Yangchen follows up on this and eventually tracks down the training site for the Combustion Benders. It turns out that the villain hadn't just been trying to churn out Combusters, she was training and researching several different possibilities. Yangchen doens't learn the full extent of what was going on there, but she does encounter the following:
The Combustion Benders
A girl whose bare-handed blows can incapacitate limbs and disable Bending
A chamber with a shackling chair and the remains of a circular metal track that would allow something to travel around the chair; elsewhere in the book, the villain speaks a code phrase and brings a reluctant subordinate completely under her control, compelled to follow her every command
Just- would it have been too much to have one slushing thing that wasn't taken from Aang's adventures? I'm almost surprised there weren't a pair of hook swords at the site or something about lightning-bending or lightning-redirection! By the time Avatar fiction is finished and the franchise is finally dead, do you think there will be one single thing in all of AtLA that won't have its history revealed in a story about a previous Avatar? Just like how everything Korra experiences needs to be explained in a story about the maturing gAang, everything in AtLA needs to be tossed out as chum for fans who can't be trusted to just enjoy a good story.
Combustion Bending can't have just been something that happened over there, it had to be part of Avatar History (TM). Chi-blocking can't just be a rare skill, it had to have been developed by a think tank run by an Avatar's arch nemesis. And Koh forbid Long Feng or the Dai Li actually invented some aspect of their brainwashing themselves- no, it turns out they lifted everything, right down to using a light on a circular track, from a textbook that was written four to five hundred years before they were born.
It's just so, so tiring. It's one thing when the garbage has to toss out this kind of fan-service in order to distract from its terrible character writing, but why does even the good stuff like the Yangchen novels have to devolve into this lack of creativity? It adds nothing to the story and took me straight out of what should have been a harrowing scene.
But Loopy, you say, what harm does it do? Lots of people like to have their fans serviced in this way, so maybe this is just a You thing, and it doesn't necessarily hurt the stories it's in just because Gene Yang was terrible at it.
Well, 'you,' I'd say that it actually does do harm, even in the hands of a good storyteller like F.C. Yee. See, one of best parts of this franchise is the sense of history it evokes. In most fantasy, thousands of years can whizz by with no change in culture, geography, language, technology, or education. But in Avatar, things change. The Fire Nation wins wars by developing new weapons. The Water Tribes go up and down in health and power depending the conditions of the world. A whole new nation is developed as a result of colonization, which itself spurs rapid development of technology. When we jump back to the beginning of time, the very world itself is made to look like a moving historical painting. And, as we increasingly explore the franchise, we find that each Avatar comes of age mostly by dealing with the problems left behind by their predecessors.
And every time something from AtLA or LoK is shoved into contrived circumstances in another era so we can have a pointless fan service moment, we chip away at that unique aspect of this franchise. We make each era more like all the others, so that no matter what Avatar you're dealing with or what era of history you're in, there will always be a Chi Blocker (TM). It takes something we all fell in love with due to its uniqueness and turns it into a formula. Instead of a scene that works by itself, we have a round of Spot The Reference.
And it happens in so much fiction these days. People used to make disparaging jokes about how every character in Star Wars, even the stupid nameless walk-on roles, has their own book. But at least it was their own book, and not the story of how it turns out Anakin Skywalker was best friends with this random alien decades before they randomly walked across his son Luke's path. We measure a storyteller's suitability to contribute to a franchise based on how much of a fan they are, not because being a fan might lend them insight into what made that franchise great in the first place, but because they can pack their stories full of continuity so that it turns out the entire history of an entire world turns on 20 people spread across a single family tree by the time subsequent generations are done marrying each other.
I'm just so sick of it. And being ambushed by it in 'Legacy of Yangchen' just made me groan, especially since I was enjoying the story so much.
Please, let's have a little self-respect as fans, okay?
...
I warned you this was going to be underwhelming.

So just got home and watched the Direct:
Was never the hugest fan of the Mario & Luigi games but they do always look fun so excited for that.
Never played the original DKCR so may look into that one at some point idk my backlog's already so bad XD
Same with the Dragon Quest games, it's neat that they're on the Switch now and they look nice but I was really hoping for Chrono Trigger
I'm kind of baffled that there's a Funko Pop video game and I have no idea how Funko and Fortnite can get liscences for everything to put them in their low-effort stuff and crossover games that actually want to put effort into their portrayal always seem to have to jump through enormous hurdles.
I'm actually really excited for the Four Swords/Zero Mission release, believe it or not my actual experience playing Metroid Games is kind of limited and I've never finished Zero Mission so I may legitimately play that sometime soon. Never played Turok or Perfect Dark either so might check those out, feels odd to have a "17+" category for something you get for free anyway but if it means we get a wider variety then sure, just wondering what makes those two 17+ but Goldeneye's fine.
New Super Mario Party sure is a Super Mario Party.
Echoes of Wisdom looks kinda fun, like I love the idea of making Zelda a protagonist and using her wisdom stat to make it a puzzle game but I am kind of wary of the "magical item makes it so they don't have to directly fight and can basically be magical girls and zap everything away" being the only way girls are able to get protagonist roles but whatever it takes I guess.
My mom's been really into the Lego games lately but she has no idea what Horizon Zero Dawn is so I may or may not recommend it to her.
I am REALLY hyped for Stray, I've wanted it on the switch for so long now why can't it be sooner like the game's been out so long why is it still six months away I wanna play the kitty game now.
Both my mom and Little Sister have been playing life/farm sims so the Hobbit Stardew Valley Thing(tm) may be another recommendation for them.
The creators of Danganronpa create Danganronpa again for like the fifth time, this time with Tower Defense I guess? Nintendo really wants their own Danganronpa series but isn't willing to lean into the raunchier stuff that made horny teens love Danganronpa in the first place.
FINALLY news on Metroid Prime 4, it's not much but I love how they give a date at the very end just to keep people from going "oh, no new details?" the landscape looks beautiful and I'm excited to have Samus around again, hoping for those Metroid 2/3 remakes sometime this year so people who haven't played games that released literally twenty years ago can fill in the blanks.

I know, before Horizons, everyone prefer the dark-edgy pokeani with similar tone to pokespe. However, I prefer it to be like Leon in Twilight Wings but different from it, where the dark sides of being institutions and shows like the Contests, League institution (Gym Leaders, Elite 4, Champs), or Showcases are exploited.
Like, his Gym Leaders’ companions know the league tics but still managing it btw. (With Brock being a doctor and occassionally working in an official institution, he’s all like “ahh yess the more you know” once learning PokeCen’s tics.) Or, May paused at her goal after learning the dark side of being a Top Coordinator. Or, Dawn actually understands thanks to her mom’s fame and decides to be Top Coordinator herself to kick her mom’s old rivals who treated her dirty during her rise years ago. Serena always believes in Aria’s teachings and doesn’t know till becoming the Queen that she has to put on a smile and lie to avoid disappointment and bashing from her fans.
Iris solely takes up the league, so her village will be known by people but it’s still hard to manage her title. (“On second thought, why didn’t I just inherit the gym? / I should’ve inherited the gym instead.”) Maybe Wallace gets a decent hate from his fans after being dethroned, hence his saltiness towards Steven in JN105. Knowing that, she enters the Coronation to train and learn so she could maintain her strength as the Unova champ until a worthy one comes.
Ash pretty much retreats from the championship/leagues (similar but not similar to game!Red) to focus on being Pkmn Master, and pretty much journeys to meet and befriend every pokemon he could ever meet. He’s still famous btw but still getting scot-free from the stress^TM due to being away from the town/city for the most times. Anyway, while Ash is healing coz he’s living through his dream, everyone else gets emo. (maybe Cilan is still traveling and doesn’t meet the stress^TM till returning to Striaton, or maybe the gym is closed to make him depressed or sth.)

how has arya been the punching bag longer than dany? is it because of the beef in s7 between the sisters or even before? Hi a new fan here🥴
Even before season 7. I have been on tumblr for 6-7 years now. And i joined specifically to show appreciation for Arya. In those days- when the show was running parallely- you would have both the show fans and book fans dunking on Arya. The book fans would say shit like Arya would die and live on in Nymeria as Sansa's pet. This has now been replaced by the West of Westeros theory and they don't speak much about Nymeria right now.
In those days we had similar discourses like the ones we see today. Arya is jealous of Sansa and therefore tries to sabotage her. She is not a good sister because she didn't go to Cersei's tea party. Mycah's death is her fault. She is unnatural. She is a psychopath who can't have a love life ( this was directed to gendrya!). She would die or be a faceless man forever. There was also the usual obsession about beauty. How Lyanna was actually like Sansa and not Arya because how can someone who looks like Arya cause war ( the way the war is romanticized I fucking kid you not). How her quotes are not about her but Sansa. And of course Jon...like even before Jonsa became the headache that it is today...Arya's relationship with this brother of hers ( platonic or otherwise) got dismissed. And I said it was long before Dany became the punching bag because at that time there wasn't this ridiculous attempt to posit Dany as someone Jon would have no qualms killing. Mind you there always were discourses in the fandom about how it is impossible for Dany to be the final hero (TM). There always were fans who would try to dismiss her political achievements and righteous cause. But when the show was running, in the earlier seasons I believe the hate wasn't this acrid- because you had so many of the casual fans who were in awe of such a fantastic and powerful character.
The destruction of the story only became apparent in the later seasons and reached a catastrophic end with Dany's brutal death. But careless handling of plots and storylines were always there. And Arya has been the victim of it since the very first episode of the series. From the beginning she was protrayed as the troublemaker ( her throwing food at Sansa). I think the showrunners cut off the whole scene from the books where Arya protests against Sansa's dismissal of Jon as just the half brother. Instead they preferred showing Arya to always be on the offense: after the Mycah debacle in the books, we see Arya suffering from guilt and agony and realization that Mycah never mattered to anyone. In the show we have Arya stabbing at the table thinking of killing Joff ( she had every fucking right of it but still...).
All of these were used to argue by the show only fans that Arya is the sister to be kept on leash and the book fans as always turned a blind eye to the very apparent ridiculous portrayal and joined in on with apparently intellectual metas about how even after the war of dawn, Arya won't quite be able to belong within the walls of winterfell. Her whole storyline which symbolizes a want for home/family/love and security got exchanged in these metas as one of revenge. So yeah. Arya has always been the punching bag for them. And it happened long before season 7.

Absolutely, she should've gone to uni, then she marries, them she gets pregnant, gets turned and has a very difficult bloody gory first newborn year, as It should have been
Bella as she IS the only human? Or Ángela, but probably Bella, i'm meaner than Ángela XD
Too fast, for the wrong reasons. But i think I was for the better for her.

Michael Sheen as Aro, you could feel the joy through the screen. Also Peter Facinelli as Carlisle was very good. And Billy Burke as Charlie. Dakota Fanning as Jane was cool too.
Yes, Jasper x Alice, Carlisle x Esme, Kate x Garrett , Rosalie x Emmett and many more.
When Edward IS trying to save Bella in Breaking Dawn post childbirth.

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a large fortune and a strong jaw must Batman.
My Personal Ranking of the live action Batman incarnations based on their Jawlines.
No. 9
Lewis Wilson - Batman [Theatrical Serial] (1943)
Tumblr media
Lewis Wilson was, of course the first on-screen portrayal of the Caped Crusader, so there's something that must be said for that, regardless of the fact that his story has little to do with the comics and his dialogue, being written in the middle of WWII was inevitably cringe regarding the Japanese villain of the story. War time propaganda notwithstanding, this serial did introduce many aspects of now standard Batman lore which were canonized in the comics following its release, such as the Batcave, and the characterization of Alfred we know and love.
But I'm not here to talk about any of that. I'm here to talk about Lewis Wilson's jaw. At the time his casting was praised for accuracy, even if his performance was found wanting. He looked like Bruce Wayne-- but for my money he just didn't have much going for him where it mattered. Since the jaw is the only exposed area of Batman's face, it counts for it to be distinctive and Wilson's just isn't.
No. 8
Robert Lowery - The New Adventures of Batman and Robin, the Boy Wonder [Theatrical Serial] (1949)
Tumblr media
Budget wise Robert Lowery got the short end of the stick when he literally took up the mantle from Lewis Wilson for the 1949 sequel serial, but he did benefit from a major reduction in the racial slurs in his script.
Jaw wise, Lowery isnt much of an improvement on Wilson. It was incredibly difficult for me to find a good picture but I'm willing to give lowery the edge.
No. 7
Christian Bale - Batman Begins (2005), The Dark Knight (2008), The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
Tumblr media
To be honest this is the only thing that's always majorly bothered me about Christian Bale's Batman. Perhaps the narrowness of his chin was why they felt the need to overcompensate so hard with the Batman Voice.
No. 6
Michael Keaton - Batman (1989), Batman Returns (1992)
Tumblr media
I love Michael Keaton. He's one of the broodier Bruce's, but he manages to carry that bit of whimsy that sets this Era apart. Crazy to think that these films were the first dark on-screen take on Batman when you compare it with the modern dark and gritty obsession.
Keaton's jaw isn't the strongest but like the movies and his performance you have to give credit where credit is due--it is distinctive.
No. 5
Ben Affleck - Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), The Justice League (2017)
Tumblr media
I've never seen either of these films, so I can't pass judgment on Ben Affleck's turn in the role, but then I've always considered Justice League Batman sort of different to regular Gotham flavored Batman, so I don't hold him to the same standards. Except in one area.
Not gonna lie, that's a formidable chin. He's got the dimple and everything. The rest of the actual JAW leaves more to be desired though, but we're definitely getting there.
No. 4
George Clooney - Batman & Robin (1997)
Tumblr media
I'm not a George Clooney fan in general. Quite apart from the hatefulness of this movie (and I DO hate it SO very much, for its wasted potential more than anything), I didn't really care for Clooney IN it. Perhaps it's because he's George Clooney (TM) but I find his range of performance very, very limited. Although he had some excellent scenes with Alfred, the writing everywhere else was not helping him, at all.
The one area where he can't be faulted, is of course the one I'm here to discuss. Now, No. 4 is pretty low, all things considered for a chin as renowned and impressive as Clooney's, but he is so low because that's not Bruce Wayne's jaw: it's George Clooney's.
No. 3
Val Kilmer - Batman Forever (1995)
Tumblr media
Now here's where we get into some real quality. What? No my love for Val Kilmer as Bruce Wayne didn't influence my ranking. Perish the thought. Though I will say he did end up landing higher on this list than I thought he would.
What I really like about Kilmer's jaw is the clean lines. No distinct dimple on the chin, but that's made up for by the straight cut of the jaw as a whole. It's a bit softer, (and so, so pretty), but very reminiscent of Adam West. Which makes sense, given the influence the 60's TV show had on Batman Forever.
No. 2
Adam West - Batman (1966-1968)
Tumblr media
Speaking of straight cut jaws, get a look at that. Adam West's legacy looms heavily over every subsequent Batman, and I think that's with good reason. The mandible knows no distinctions in tone, it is a constant so no matter how far removed your Bruce Wayne is from the Camp and Circumstance of 1966, there's one standard by which all Batmen can be judged, and that my friends is the square cut gem pictured above.
No. 1
Robert Pattinson - The BATMAN (2022)
Tumblr media
One that certainly measures up to that standard, in my opinion THE ONE that even surpasses it, is Robert Pattinson's recent outing in the famous cape and cowl. Everything here is running in Battinson's favor: his cowl is the only one designed to give full exposure from corner to corner and I would like to kiss the costume designer because there's so much to be displayed here. What angles! Really God gave us a gift when he was sketching out RPatts. We've got the prominent chin, with dimple but not one deep enough to distract from the sharp angles of that jawline. If I was Selina Kyle I'd be afraid of cutting my hand.

Wow, the new banner sure was surprising and unexpected.
To begin with I would have never have guessed they would choose Awakening when three other games were ahead of it in the rotation (Radiant Dawn, Fates and Mystery) AND they had the option to choose TMS since they just reminded everyone of its existence. Still, I love Awakening so it's not like I can complain.
I also can't complain that they chose to focus on Gen 1 since I always prefer when they introduce new characters rather than "rescue" characters from "alt hell".
Ricken, Gregor and Phila (!!!!) are good picks and I personally love it when they give us minor characters who were never playable before. So much that I actually voted for Phila in CYL.
And Cervantes is also a based pick. I never would have expected a free Armor Knight from IS. Feels bad to be a Validar fan... tho at this point it has to be intentional. I'm starting to think Validar will be the last character from Awakening added.
The Rearmed hero was really disappointing tho, ngl. Not only it's another Ascended!Celica situation since they gave a character that already has a Legendary the shiny new alt. But even if they picked someone else I would have preferred to have no Rearmed rather than another banner with a Rearmed and an Ascended. Because together with the last NH banner it begins to set a precedent, an expectation...
The expectation that every new heroes banner will have both Ascended AND Rearmed is extremely scary to me as someone who mostly cares about getting every character EVER in this game. Because as long as we have OCs like Eir, Lif and probably Thrasir it's tolerable. We still get 4 brand new characters and only one Forging Bond slot is taken by an alt.
But in the future, we could get only 3 new characters per banner with 2 forging bond slots being wasted. THAT I do not want.
The next Awakening banner could very well be: an Ascended alt, a Rearmed alt, Vaike, Kellam and GHB Pheros. The one after could be an Ascended alt, a Rearmed alt, Inigo, Severa and GHB Noire. R.I.P. Laurent...
I sincerely hope that I'm wrong about this and that they will start alternating between Ascended and Rearmed alts like they already do with Duos and Harmonics. For everyone's sake.

Taskmaster fandom: borderline porn.
Ah yes!
I mean yes. Yes. Taskmaster fandom = porn. Obviously.
But then I look around, on the podcasts and on Twitter, and realise that a whole bunch of people, probably a majority of people that are TM-fans, isn't into the porn. They pretend it's not porn?
Or, the horrible realisation slowly dawning on me, they don't even see the porn?
They do TM-games at school. They associate it with lunch boxes, with family tv-night, with wholesome daytime fun with their friends. They see a silly competition between funny people, and care about the points and the rules.
Where has the porn gone? I scream as I fall to my knees in despair and utter lonelyness.
Then I turn my head to Tumblr and AO3 and lets out a blessed sigh of relief.
There it is! There is the homoerotic content, the power exchange, the submission and sadism, the euphemism and veiled hints; all magnified and turned into pure BDSM smut.
Ah yes! Taskmaster fandom = porn! Obviously.
