I don’t want to be the bearer of bad news but realistically fictionally speaking, SOMEBODY has to take one for the team and have the smallest package deal. Everybody in the MCU can’t be slanging shlong and going twelve rounds a night. SOMEBODY has got to be rocking lackluster hip functions and dickings. SOMEBODY got to be a 5 pump chump! 😔 It’s sad but true. HOWEVER, Thor, Namor, and M’Baku got the best dick this side of Earth 616 so take that as you will.

on this. the oversharing site?
sort of. actually really just an extension of the freeze to death mentality is the fucking. injured composure/competence thing isnt it. yes yes im injured right now and i know it but look im gonna cope with it soooo well you wouldnt believe. i can put together all the things i need all by myself! see! see! let me clean up this blood while im at it. im in a lot of pain but i can grit my teeth and share a laugh, tell me a joke to pass the time. put on the little jesters hat and bring on the clowns, your about to enter the medical bureaucracy, so lets make this look good kid.

not to be cranky and old about media analysis but i really do lowkey resent the rise of the livetweet for two reasons
if the writing is good, it means missing out on a lot of what makes it good
because of that first problem, it only incentivizes writing stories that can be easily digested without needing to do much thinking deeper or paying close attention

Something that's really crystallized for me in recent months is that the kind of performative hype (or pre-emptive disappointment) that goes on in social media spaces is simply not something I can be heavily party to if I want to have an honest experience with a game.
Rumor-mongers, streamers, influencers-- what are they to me? What is their opinion to me? They are not me. They have not lived my life nor do they have my specific set of biases. They are not possessed of the specific lens through which I would naturally experience the story and mechanics. They cannot give me my opinion, nor am I motivated in any way to adopt theirs because of that whole authenticity issue.
But if I try to divine what the "acceptable" or most common opinions are, it does little but destroy my ability to enjoy anything at all. It makes me want to hide it if I do enjoy it for fear of punishment. And let's be real here--there's a metric fuckton of poison and faux anticipation out there that's generated for no other reason than engagement.
Truth lies in the one on one experience with the game, relatively free of influence or the social pressure to agree to anyone's take.
