hi! sorry i have a bunch of questions about kara if that's okay :) sorry if this bothers you, i am trying to learn!
what comic/graphic novel would you strongly recommend for someone who's trying to get into comic book kara (as someone who's only seen cw show)
also what is her most recognised as being acceptable and correct origin? because everywhere says different, and it's really annoying. sorry if this bothers you, i just want to know fr so i can understand her properly
also, thoughts on woman of tomorrow by tom king? is it a good comic or nah?
who are her earth parents if not jeremiah and eliza?
also one more thing sorry haha. thoughts on supercorp - kara/lena. comic or cw version, is it a ship you think has a cool dynamic or not?
thanks!!
dw I'm not bothered at all by the questions :) I love talking about Kara <3
If you're coming from the CW show and want to get into comic Kara I'd recommend Supergirl (1982) by Paul Kupperberg and Carmine Infantino, as well as Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow (2021) by Tom King and Bilquis Evely! They're both very different in terms of scope and the way that they depict Kara, but I have my reasons for recommending both of them:
Supergirl (1982) is one of my favorite comics and features my favorite version of Kara! I really love the way she's characterized in this run and I just think all the supporting characters and villains she's given are really fun and interesting <3. And, generally speaking, it's also the most analogous to the CW show: Kara has a secret identity (Linda Danvers instead of Kara Danvers in this continuity!), a human supporting cast, relationship drama, a day job, etc. All of those things are depicted differently than how they appear in the CW show, but it's the closest thing you'll get to the show's depiction of Kara without reading a comic that was directly influenced by CW Supergirl (aka Supergirl (2016) by Steve Orlando).
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow (2021) is another one of my favorite comics and is great for getting to know the modern interpretation of Kara. Some people who have read this say that it's interpretation of Supergirl is too "gritty" or cynical, I don't agree with that at all. I think it does a great job at showing how endlessly compassionate and protective Kara can be despite all the horrors she's been made to experience. Even if you don't vibe with Tom King's writing style or characterization of Kara, the art by Bilquis Evely is SO beautiful that it's worth reading anyway!
And both of these comics are self-contained and don't require you to read anything else before you jump into them! Which unfortunately can't be said for a lot of the Supergirl comics I love </3.
Now as for Kara's "most acceptable and correct origin", this is somewhat hard to answer because it changes depending on the continuity, but with that being said, I'd say that the origin that's shown in Woman of Tomorrow is what's considered her most accepted backstory: She's the older cousin of Superman who was born and raised on Krypton, and before it could be destroyed her father, Zor El, created a barrier that would protect Argo City from the explosion. She lived on that detached chunk of Krypton for a short while longer before the radiation coming from the planet itself would start killing the remaining Kryptonians. In order to protect her, Zor and Alura sent her to Earth in a rocket where she was expected to care for her infant cousin. However, along the way her rocket somehow gets stuck in stasis and causes her to arrive on Earth decades after Kal does. Other continuities have generally the same origin for her except with small changes here and there. Supergirl (1982) shows her original origin where she was born after Krypton's destruction on Argo City and is actually the younger cousin of Superman. So really it just depends on what you're reading! But yeah the WOT origin is like, THE origin for modern Kara.
Just like her origin, who Kara's Earth parents are depends on the continuity! Jeremiah and Eliza Danvers were her Earth parents in the 2016 Supergirl series written by Steve Orlando, but they were incorporated into the comics in order to make Kara's comic canon similar to the CW show, so I'm really not a big fan of them. In Pre-Crisis continuity (which encompasses comics published prior to Crisis on Infinite Earths (1985), which includes Supergirl (1982)!) Kara's Earth parents were Fred and Edna Danvers. Fred was a scientist who worked at S.T.A.R. Labs, and Edna was a housewife (1960s moment). In Post-Crisis (comics published after COIE, but before the 2011 New 52 reboot) Kara didn't have any adoptive parents, but she did eventually stay with Clark's childhood friend/sweetheart Lana Lang and posed as her niece, calling herself Linda Lang. As of right now, in the current continuity, we don't know if Jeremiah and Eliza are still her adoptive parents, or if Fred and Edna are her parents like Mark Waid's World's Finest (2022) run would suggest (since it majorly takes inspiration from Pre-Crisis continuity and he expressed interest in showing how Kara was put into their care), or if she just doesn't have any at all.
As for Supercorp... I really don't feel anything for the show's version of Kara, so it's not something that I ship, but I do understand why a lot of people really love it. I can see how their dynamic would be really appealing, I'm just not a CW Supergirl enjoyer so I don't have any affection for it. However, back when they let comic Lena be a Supergirl supporting character in Pre-Crisis continuity I did really love their dynamic and I do ship that version of them <3

Hello Val ! I'm here for the Valentines event! Thank you so much for doing this for us :)
May I have Jean x reader please? Slightly suggestive perfectly okay ;)

I got tagged by @sarcasticsciencefictionwriter - thank you! <3
1. How many works do you have on ao3?
16 fics so far. I am a very slow writer xD
2. What’s your total ao3 word count?
30,688. Which was totally expected, as I write mostly one-shots.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
His Dark Materials (5 fics), Miss Scarlet and the Duke (6 fics), 1899 (5 fics). And right now I’m trying to write a couple of short stories inspired by my super dramatic Italian soap opera, but all those fics are still very much NOT finished.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
we are tonight, we are forever (Miss Scarlet and the Duke) – 483 of mornings and case files (Miss Scarlet and the Duke) – 356 love like fools (Miss Scarlet and the Duke) – 304 love, alphabetically (Miss Scarlet and the Duke) – 268 right next to you, where I belong (Miss Scarlet and the Duke) – 236
Only now did I manage to realise that all these fics were for the same fandom. Honestly, being a part of MSATD fandom is one of the most heartwarming experiences of my fangirl life <3
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I try to respond to all comments I receive, because every single comment is a source of happiness to me. I mean, someone read my fic and found time to write what they thought of it, and I am always grateful to everybody who comments on my stories.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Probably komm, tanz mit mir (1899). I don’t really write a lot of angsty fics. I love reading them, but writing them… not so much xD I am very much a fluff girlie.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I think it’s going to be a tie between right next to you, where I belong (Miss Scarlet and the Duke) and in the sea of lovers (1899).
8. Do you get hate on fic?
No, I haven’t gotten any hate so far. I guess I am lucky enough to write for peaceful fandoms haha.
9. Do you write smut?
I did write a couple of smutty scenes, but those are very, very light smut. Heavy smut – no, not my cup of tea.
10. Do you write crossovers?
No, I do not. Can’t say I’ve never been tempted to try… but I suppose the concept is not attractive enough for me.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not that I know of.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I haven’t – but I remember that several years ago my friend and I planned to write a fic together. Maybe we should come back to that idea. I remember all the research we did, it was fun.
14. What’s your all-time favourite ship?
Ooooooooh… this is a cruel question, because I have so many ships, it’s basically an armada haha. Are we talking about an all-time favourite ship to write fics for? Then it would probably be Eliza/William from Miss Scarlet and the Duke. It’s so easy to write both fluff and hurt/comfort for them, they are wonderful. And if we are talking about an all-time favourite ship in general, that would probably be Marguerite/Roxton from The Lost World. They were literally the blueprint for me.
And I would also like to give a special shoutout to Adelaide/Marcello from Il Paradiso delle Signore. I’ve had them for only three months, but it was enough for me to fall head over heels with these two and with their dynamic. Absolutely fantastic, brilliant, legendary. Who knows, maybe one day I’ll write some fics for them, who knows, who knows… They are definitely THE OTP right now.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but probably won’t?
All of them? Haha. I have so many WIPs I lost count, and the idea of finishing them scares me.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I’d say I’m pretty decent when it comes to writing dialogues. And also I love metaphors and metaphorical language, and it seems to me that I use it pretty well.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Describing actions / sequences of actions. I always feel so dumb when I try to figure this out.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Oooh, I love it! I love reading it and writing it. As an aspiring polyglot, I love languages, and using my target languages in my fics is fun. I used a bit of German in my 1899 fics.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Winx Club. I was 11 years old, young, free, and very self-assured, so I truly believed those fics were masterpieces. And right now I look at them, and ummm, they are surely… something xD.
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
Probably we will be chasing a starlight (His Dark Materials). It was the first fic I ever published on ao3, and it still holds a special place in my heart.

aaah I'm literally in love with your writing style!! like 'ryn likes to believe that he rises with the sun, akin to the way a morning glory blossoms under the sunlight' 'love is the most powerful and most dangerous force to have existed. Love has killed more than every disease combined' 'with turquoise waters hugging its banks and an intricate village filled with generous people...' this is literal poetry askfjddfh
and the titles are so intriguing!! I'm already hooked!!
thanks for tagging me!!
Friends Break Your Heart Too
And, like, oh my god. That’s exactly what it feels like. I look at Addy and I smile and squeeze her hand and I don’t know her very well, just like she doesn’t know me, but we both know that, in this moment, we understand each other perfectly.
"I didn’t ask for a week this time Mila. I asked for five minutes. You couldn’t even give me that."
(this is from a short story that's based in the canon of 'friends break your heart too' that I was basically using to try and get in Eliza's head. currently untitled)
But, now that she’s thinking about it, Eliza’s been exhausted for a long time now. She’s been exhausted since half-term, when she returned to her last school a day before everyone else to scrape off the last bits of her identity left from the explosion of that first whisper that spread and spread and spread until all Eliza could see was rubble. She’s been exhausted since Year Ten, sitting through the discussions of gay marriage, listening to people debate against it as if marriage is a privilege, something that can be given and taken away instead of a basic human right (Article 12: Men and women of a marriageable age shall have the right to marry and to found a family—Eliza looked it up and cited it, fuming, in her end of year essay). She took Religious Studies because she thought it would be beautiful, thought it would be a way to better understand other religions and through those humanity as a whole. Instead, she broke the nib of her pen when writing her essay in fury, she cried herself to sleep, she looked around her classroom and was dumbfounded by how ready people were to disguise their own prejudices as religious beliefs, to use God as an excuse to continue oppressing minorities.
Mila, who kisses sweetly, smiles warmly, loves earnestly. Mila, who’s so, so talented and doesn’t know it. Mila, who’s so easy to love.
from my (also untitled) fantasy wip
“You can’t be perfect all the time,” he’d said and Nessa didn’t know how to tell him that she did, she really did, because she didn’t know how to be anything else. Because ‘perfect’ is exactly what everyone always expected her to be. She’s ‘The Brain’, the girl who always has the answers, the girl born to succeed. She’s never been anything else.
She wasn’t enough for Mother, who lost interest in her when she stopped being little and cute enough to pass as a doll she could dress up, who traded brushing Flo’s hair for missed calls, who calls Margot ‘Margaret’, who forced Flo to drop Mallory for Hazel but has never been around enough to actually get to know any of Flo’s ‘suitable’ friends, who tells her to ‘make them proud’ but never calls her pretty or smart, who calls her ‘darling’ but never seems to mean it. She wasn’t enough for Nessa, who Flo knew always liked Juno more, and she may have been good enough for Mallory but Flo dropped her before she could find out and she wasn’t enough for Hazel who had no qualms about cancelling plans to hang out with Elliot and she wasn’t enough for Harriet and Margot, who have always preferred each other, but finally, finally she’s good enough for Sol.
and this was supposed to be another character study to get into Imogen's head but ended up basically being a letter to her gf haha
But you? You. You, Sara Nnadi, you terrified me. You breathed into my lungs a kind of fear I didn’t even know existed because with that fear came love—an emotion I wasn’t ready to make peace with as it was an emotion my own mother is still incapable of showing to me.

Seven Snippets, Seven People Tag Game
Thank you so much for the tag @awleeofficial! This is a new one for me too ahaha
Rules: Post seven snippets and tag seven people!
I will use seven different WIPs!
Love and Other Lies
It's the dawn, and Ryn likes to believe that he rises with the sun, akin to the way a morning glory blossoms under the sunlight.
Blood Moon
The breeze blows softly outside, bringing with it the subtle scent of autumnal spice. Outside Julienne Toussaint’s open window, the midday sun beats down on the falling leaves stricken with lush gold, vibrant red, dull orange and crisp brown, making them seem to glow.
Cherry Blossoms (a short story)
“I love the nature here,” Angel smiled, eyes sparkling as they skated across the landscape surrounding them. “I get to tend to everything here, and it’s so beautiful to create luscious life out of nothing but a few tiny seeds.” He looks down at the hands clasped in his lap, fair eyelashes casting pale shadows along his cheekbones. “I love my plants. They are what’s left of my family.”
Troubled Waters
"Sometimes, when one walks along the thin line where the ocean rises up to meet soft sand, it's possible to hear a soft singing. It's said that the souls of heartbroken people are forever trapped in these waters. Sometimes the singing turns into wailing, broken noises showing pain, for the mermaids cannot cry."
Dynasty
“Love,” the warlock had told me, fixing me with his bright crimson irises, “love is the most powerful and most dangerous force to have existed. Love has killed more than every disease combined. Mortals will do crazy, unspeakable things in the name of love.”
Part of Your World (a fic collab with @faceglitchsworld)
The island of Crescent-Moon is a delightful place to grow up. With turquoise waters hugging its banks and an intricate village filled with generous people, there is a place for everybody on the island, or at least that’s how Teresa feels.
Creatures of the Night (a vampire fic I'm working on)
“Want to go out for a bite?” he says, a seductive smirk playing upon his lips. His crimson eyes burn into her, gaze resting near the hollow of her neck, and for a second, she's not entirely sure he’s talking about food.
These kind of suck I'm so sorry but I can't think of anything else that's newer that I've written.
I'll tag @dancinginsepia, @worldsfromhoney, @ashfordlabs, @bassguitarinablackt-shirt, @ko0l-k1dd0, @holdmyteaplease and @briannaswords only if you want!

I enjoyed your story about the prefect proposing to the ghost bride. At the end, she tosses the bouquet and walks away but what if some of the boys are moved by her proposal and want to catch the traditional bouquet. How would it play out among them and what will Yuu think when she later sees they have the bouquet? Choose any characters you'd like to focus on. Thank you!

╰┈"The prefect thought everything would go back to normal after the success of her proposal towards Eliza, but it seems like she caught the interest of a certain student with her words."
╰►Lowkey a continuation for this oneshot.
╰►Who's here?: Trey, Cater, Rook, Lilia and Ortho (Platonic, as Idia’s wingman).
╰►Female reader, scenario, non-established relationship.

﹙❥﹚Trey Clover ❜ ˖ ࣪⊹ ִֶָ
“I guess this is a sign for me to get married, haha…”
⤿
As the prefect throw the bouquet in the air to have a dramatic departure from the cafeteria, she failed to calculate the direction of her toss, and she had to stop in the middle of her walk when she realized the flowers landed in an inconvenient place.
On Trey’s head, to be more exact.
(Y/n) rushed to the vicehousewarden, gently removing the bouquet from his head, an embarrassed expression on her face, as Trey chuckled at her behavior.
“Sorry! I didn’t mean to throw it at you, are you alright?”
“Of course, don’t worry. At least you didn’t toss it with too much strength.”
“Hey! I threw it with all my energy! Are you calling me weak?”
“Uh? So, you intended to hit me mercilessly with it then?”
“I never said that.” The prefect playfully smacked Trey’s shoulder, making him laugh again, as he stared fondly at the Ramshackle student.
“But I wonder what might this insinuate? Don’t you think it could be a hint or something?” He smiled, the wedding bouquet now resting in his hands.

﹙❥﹚Cater Diamond ❜ ˖ ࣪⊹ ִֶָ
“Weddings trends are so cool~ I wonder if I'll go viral once I get married?”
⤿
The next day after the ghost incident, the Ramshackle first-year walked towards the Heartslabyul Dorm to visit her friends, just to make sure they were doing okay after the events of the previous day.
On her way there, she checked Magicam on her phone, scrolling through different posts, most of them from Cater, as he was always the most active out of everyone.
But a certain picture caught her attention, while she walked through the magic mirror. A selfie of Cater, holding her bouquet as he winked at the camera, with a bunch of hashtags on the caption.
"I see you're looking at my pics, (Y/n)! They're fabulous, right?" The third-year student suddenly appeared next to her, it seemed like he just finished painting the roses. "But it's been such a long we’ve uploaded a picture together! I have the #perfect accessory, come with me~”
Once they arrived at his room, he quickly showed the prefect her own flower bouquet, which she used for the proposal the day before.
“This will look great, say cheese (Y/n)!”.
It turned out to be a cute photo, even when the prefect didn’t expect to see the hashtags ‘#WeddingBouquet #PutARingOnIt #MrAndMrsDiamond?’ on the caption.

﹙𑁍﹚Rook Hunt ❜ ˖ ࣪⊹ ִֶָ
“Such delightful performance! Oh, how marvelous can you be?”
⤿
Right after (Y/n) left the cafeteria, she could hear the sound of steps behind her, and soon, Rook appeared next to the prefect, a pleased smile on his face.
“You were certainly charming, Trickster! The grace and delicacy of your words have blessed my ears, I’ve never been more thankful for being in your glorious presence, I-”
“Is that the bouquet that Epel made for our spectacle from before?” The prefect interrupted, curiously gazing at the flowers that the hunter held.
“Indeed. I couldn’t let such a beautiful arrangement of flowers be wasted, even less after being carried by someone as divine as you.”
“Oh…” The prefect mumbled, a faint tint of red rushing to her cheeks. “Well, you can keep it, if you want…You helped me to come up with those romantic words before, I guess it’s fair.
“I did assist you with the basics, but most of what you said was effective due to your skill. A charm like yours could enchant anyone, mon chéri.” The third-year gazed affectionally towards the Ramshackle prefect.
“Although I hope to be the object of your affections, next time you hold a wedding bouquet.”

(who is on the mission of getting a partner for his shut-in brother)
“Oooh, if you two get married, you’d be my sister-in-law, right?”
⤿
“(Y/n)! My brother asked me to return your flower bouquet to you!” Appeared Ortho at the Ramshackle door, the morning after the whole incident.
“Ah, hello Ortho.” The prefect greeted, smiling at him. “I actually throw it because of the traditional toss of the weddings, but thanks either way.” She received the flowers, two small papers attached to the flowers.
‘thx for ur help yesterday. very nice of you ig.’ Was written on one of the notes, the prefect easily recognizing Idia’s handwriting. The other piece of paper was a discount coupon for the videogames store in the city.
“What tradition?”
“Well, the bride has to toss the bouquet at the guests, and the one who catches it, it’s supposed to get married next.” (Y/n) explained, confused at the now excited look on Ortho’s face.
“My brother was who caught it!”
“Really? That’s cool.”
“But it’s probably going to be difficult. He doesn’t interact with a lot of people, you know?”
“Don’t say that! There’s gotta be someone that wants to be with Idia, he’s nice once you get to know him, after all.”
“I guess that leaves you as the only option, perhaps you’d be interested on helping my brother to follow the tradition…?”
⤿
⤿
⤿
﹙⚔﹚Lilia Vanrouge ❜ ˖ ࣪⊹ ִֶָ
“Fufufu~ Marriage sounds very appealing right now.”
⤿
A week after Idia was kidnapped by the phantom bride, everything had come back to normal. As usual, you went to Diasomnia to visit one of your friends, the vicehousewarden of the said dorm. Lilia invited you regularly to join him at a gaming session, and that day wasn’t an exception.
“Oh, what a coincidence, that bouquet looks just like the one I had last week.”
“It is the same, actually!” The fae explained, chuckling at the confused expression of the prefect. “Isn’t that a human tradition? To catch the bouquet of the bride?”
“Yeah, but why would you want it?”
“I heardthat the one that gets it is supposed to be the next to get married~ And after so long, I think is normal for a man of my age to want a formal relationship, don’t you think?”
(Y/n) laughed at the words of the Diasomnia third-year, thinking he was just joking.
“I think you missed a few steps, Lilia. As far as I’m concerned, you don’t even have a partner. “
The dark-haired fae grinned widely, his entire aura changing, as he gazed confidently at the prefect’s eyes.
“Maybe you can help me with that, (Y/n).”

Twin Snowflakes 34: Full Swing
Part 33<-
Nick considered himself a generally nice person. Treat others how you want to be treated. Try not to raise hell out without a purpose, and always have a smidge of mercy in whatever you’re doing. Nick also believed in another thing, instilled by his aunt; mercy doesn’t give you first place.
The boy's foot was planted firmly against some rando competitor, sending her flying out of Amity Arena. The victory buzzer went off and the crowd once again cheered.
“Another round for the twins!” Port announced, “Goodness, I think I might’ve blinked and missed that one. Gilgamesh’s reputation precedes him.”
Weiss let out a weary sigh as she clapped for her children. “I wish that nickname would die already.” She told Ruby, who managed to escape the children section thanks to Penny.
“Why? Nick seems to like it.”
Weiss watched her son wave at the people as he walked off the field with his sister. Though he smiled, it was clear that match was boring and irrelevant to him. “Yeah I guess. It just feels a little disingenuous.”
In Atlas, the name Gilgamesh came from the tale of a magnificent warrior, a person who commanded many blades that were forged and won over countless battles. People started comparing the two after witnessing the boy’s cold and cut throat demeanor in a fight. “Channeling his inner Gilgamesh,” people said. As if Nick needed to create a persona before battling. It couldn’t be further from the truth. Fact of the matter was the people have it backwards, and all who really know him were aware. Nick never channeled being aggressive, he channeled being calm. Much like his family, it was the more…nastier side of them that was the genuine article. Summer had the stage, Nick had fighting. It was perfect really. No one expects proper manners in the middle of a fight.
“Another one in the bag. I’m thinking you lead next time. How about it?” Summer waited for a response but it fell on deaf ears. “Bro?” She touched his shoulder.
“Huh?”
“You okay? I was trying to plan our next match.”
“Oh, sorry. I was actually doing the same.”
Summer frowned, “Well don’t keep it to yourself. I have ideas too ya know?”
The two of them made it to their seats. It wasn’t uncommon for the lower rows to be filled with participants considering the fast nature of the matches. Eliza sat by them with Valerie and Veronica right behind her.
“Well here’s a trio I didn’t expect to see. Have you been cheering the two of us on?”
“Pfft, hardly.” Eliza rolled her eyes, “A match is pretty boring when you know the outcome.”
“So what you’re saying is you had faith in us?”
“That’s…ugh, spin it however you want.”
Nick looked at his two oldest friends. “What about you two?”
Veronica laughed, “Haha, what kind of cheerleader would I be if I didn’t cheer for the class I’m representing?”
“So you’ve participated in every cheer for every match.”
“Well~ I may have passed on a couple. I get tired.”
“More like uninterested.” Valerie said, “If you don’t see Nick or a cool outfit then you completely check out.”
“Untrue! I at least finish the routine. Unlike you, who’s watched all their matches exclusively.”
“Duh. I always do that. In case you forgot, I’m a veteran at this. I know what’s a good match.”
“Or prime time to plan against Nick.”
Valerie shot an annoyed glare at Vee. “As if. Nick doesn’t broadcast his true skill until he fights me. I wouldn’t be gaining much picking every battle apart. Not in doubles anyways.”
Nick couldn’t hide his smirk. Looks like he wasn’t the only one playing mental games. “I wouldn’t say I’m hiding anything. I’m doing what’s available when it is. Can’t worry about other matches if I don’t win the one I’m in. Frankly, I haven’t left anything up to imagination so far.”
Eliza knew that was a lie. If it wasn’t then she had done a sorry job training him. Nick hadn’t done any conventional glyphs yet. Then again, Summer was with him. Eliza could feel the tension in the air. Hiding or not, she could tell Valerie was definitely keeping an eye on Nick. The two of them felt more like enemies than even rivals right now. It was a bit gross. Usually they’d hype up one another.
Summer sensed it too. Neither had made up yet at all. They would both claim they’re focusing if she dared bring it up. Being the glue in their dynamic was not Summer’s thing. Nick was always the reasonable one. She looked at both Eliza and Veronica who either pretended not to notice or had no interest in helping the situation. Fortunately the tension couldn’t build for long. A solution came in the form of two annoying upperclassmen; Darren and Max. Mainly Darren.
“Well if it isn’t the goody two shoes council. Ugh, even out of uniform you all still manage to blend together.”
“Says the guy still in school uniform. Sounds like jealousy.” Valerie said.
“Why would I bother getting my good clothes all dirty, carrot top? I’m working smarter, not harder.”
Eliza clicked her tongue, “Please, the only thing you work on is other peoples’ nerves.”
“Aww, still hurt about what I said? Tell me, is your addiction to power a product of your loser of a father or drugged up mother?” Eliza nearly lunged at him if it wasn’t for everyone else’s anger. Veronica was the first to step up to him.
“I hope you realize how embarrassing it would be for you to get your ass whooped to someone in a cheerleading skirt.”
“Tsk, it’s cute that you think anything you say matters. Here I thought the annoying little prince was the only one who had you trained to defend. Guess there’s hope for me yet.” He smirks at the idea. “Then again I’m not a fan of someone else’s leftovers. Even if it is exotic.”
Nick was about to stand when Summer got up and put herself between Darren and Veronica. Maybe it was the thrill of the matches but she felt bolder than usual. “Leave us alone.” Her words are a little shaky.
“Oh so the princess wants to chime in like before? Careful sweetheart in just a few short matches I’m gonna show this entire stadium how you and your brother are nothing but hacks. But who knows, maybe I’ll pull my punches if I get a private concert?” Darren raised his right hand. In an instant, Nick and Valerie stood up and Veronica walked through Summer to grab Darren’s wrist. Fortunately for him. Max had grabbed the back of his shirt and yanked him away.
“Hey! Max what the hell!?”
“Our match is next and you’ve made your point. Let’s go before we get disqualified.” The stoic man took his loudmouth partner away. Max looked back briefly at Nick, who’s eyes were as cold as his mother’s. “My father sends his greetings to yours.”
“Of course he does.” Nick groaned. Max wasn’t his favorite person but Nick couldn’t fault him personally too much. The guy would probably be less of an inconvenience if his father didn’t expect some kind of thrashing in every battle. Cardin knew better than to pick a personal fight with the Schnees or any close member of the group. Nick wouldn’t be surprised though if he crossed his fingers for certain battles to happen by chance. Nick didn’t care much about fighting Max. Darren however…
Summer could see the intense focus on Nick’s face. “So I guess I’m fighting Max?”
“I’m that obvious?”
“Never murder someone Nick. You’d have murderous intent written on your face from a mile away.”
“I’ll let you get your licks in. He’s lucky we all aren’t in this tournament.”
Valerie would’ve paid personally to get that guy into the solo event. “Nick.” He turned around to look at her for the first time today. “Kick his ass.”
“Right!” He smiled. Now he was fired up! “He’s racked up quite the list of reasons. Starting with almost hitting you with his car.”
Valerie had nearly forgotten about that day. That was Darren’s car!? It went by so fast she hadn’t noticed. Now she really wanted a solo match. Still, seeing Nick angry about it was…nice? Val almost smiled but quickly snapped back into tournament mode. This wasn’t the time for stray thoughts. Eyes on the prize.
Nick noticed the shift. It was a little aggravating but good motivation. He gave Eliza a side eye, gaining a subtle nod in return. No turning back at that point.
Their family watched from their seats. Everyone was surprised that Yang and Winter hadn’t jumped over there to give the punks a lesson.
“Looks like we’re getting a grudge match soon.” Ruby chuckled, attempting to defuse the tension. “They’ll be fine guys. Relax.”
“My, they really are an energetic bunch.” Said a man on the stairs. Everyone turned to see Henry Marigold looking at the small confrontation. “It’s amazing how it’s not infectious, seeing how my little Eliza looks pretty comfy in her seat, ay Weiss?”
“Agh, Henry.” She couldn’t hide her displeasure.
“Hey now, you can at least try to hold back your bile. Hello Jaune.”
“Sup.”
“See? He gets it. Short and sweet.”
Oh if only Weiss was in disguise right now…“Did you walk over here just to cause a headache? You can watch your daughter from plenty of other angles.”
“Relax. I’m just over here to say a quick hello to her since she left while I was in a meeting. Oh, and I’m donating to your daughter’s little charity.” He didn’t bother waving and walked off.
“We don’t need his charity.”
“Calmed down, Ice Queen.” Blake teased, “He didn’t even say anything bad.”
“All his words are laced in pettiness! Gods, how does a good kid come from his DNA!?”
Blake can see Eliza’s eyes light up as she notices him. “Well apparently he isn’t all pettiness if Eliza is smiling like that. I think he just hates you.”
“Fuck em.”
Ruby snickered, “Hehe, isn’t that why he’s mad? Didn’t he try courting you and you kicked him out and summoned a-”
“Yes Ruby, thank you!”
“Don’t mention it.”
“Ya know it might be more of the fact you continued to outdo any contribution the Marigold’s made for anything?” Jaune watched Weiss give him the evil eyes. “Don’t be mad because I’m right. You’re just as petty. That’s where Nick gets it.
Winter, Weiss, and Whitley crossed their arms. “What are you implying?”
No one bothered to answer, but laughed wholeheartedly.
All was well so far. Summer didn’t bother much looking at the brackets and chose to shut out her surroundings with music in her ears. Her knees bounced to the beat while her fingers tapped to the rhythm. Summer was feeling good, better than good. Almost…perfect; dangerously so. Veronica and Nick must’ve caught wind of it because both kept giving her glances. Summer took initiative and stood up before they could say anything.
“I’ll be back guys. I think I need to stretch my legs for a while.”
“Kay, I’ll call you if our match gets called.” Nick watched her run off towards concessions and pass the lockers.
“Is that twin thing of yours going off?” Veronica asked, “Because my nose is getting that smell a little.”
“Summer gets excited and full of adrenaline with stuff like this. She isn’t worried about it and it’s probably nothing.”
“That didn’t answer my question.”
“….Just a little chill. Nothing I’m not used to.”
Veronica nodded. If Nick said this was normal then she wouldn’t worry. Still…it was strange. Veronica made that outfit with the purpose of keeping Summer cool with the amount of moving around she’d be doing. Summer didn’t look overheated which was good. However, she didn’t look like she was sweating at all. “Summer isn’t dehydrated is she?”
“I…wouldn’t know. I don’t think she is. It’s not like Shiva stops her from drinking water, and Summer wouldn’t risk a performance by not taking care of herself leading up to it. Why?”
“I don’t know. Just a thought…”
Summer ducked into the empty band room, stumbling over to the vanity area and putting her hands on the countertop with her head down.. Quickly she reached inside the top of her dress and pulled out the vial of Diamond Dust she had taken; the substance was carefully put on a thin chain that made a makeshift necklace. Summer put it down and finely felt the stirring anticipation that plagued her very cells calmed down. She couldn’t help but let out a sigh of relief
“Having fun?”
Summer tightened her jaw, looking up to see Shiva sitting on the speaker behind her.
“You look like you are. I mean you’re like 4-0 right now. Congrats. Also, you’re welcome.”
“Tsk, don’t try and take credit for nothing.”
“Nothing!? Who’s the one using who as a pick me up? Say, does it count as a performance enhancer if the thing you’re using is already saturated throughout your veins. I mean look at you go out there. Fight fight fight.”
Summer finally caught her breath. Her hand fixed her hair while her eyes stayed locked on Shiva’s annoying smile. “You’re getting pretty bad at lying. Don’t act like you’re giving me a power boost. I didn’t expect having the vial so close to me would keep my body on edge. Outside of that it’s all me out there.”
“True, but some would say having a security blanket would enhance performance. Why be worried when you got an ace in the hole?”
“You are not an option.” Summer said firmly.
Shiva couldn’t help but laugh at the girl. “Hahaha! Now who’s the liar. If you felt like you didn’t need me then you wouldn’t have taken that precious little vial. That’s a fact. Don’t want to risk failing like you always do. How’s summoning going by the way?”
Summer put her hands on her face and started rubbing them quickly, then did the same for her arms.
“I’ll admit that you’ve gotten quicker on the uptake, you stupid little princess. Constantly moving around in battle and even on stage, you’re constantly keeping your body temperature up to stave me off. Though these in between breaks for other fights…”
“Can you shut up already?”
“Hey, you brought me here. Live with it.”
The door began to open suddenly. Summer quickly covered the vial with her hand the moment the door knob clicked.
“See? Wouldn’t be that alert without me keeping you on your toes.”
It opened slowly and the bassist of the band walked in. Summer could see the girl's magenta eyes widened behind her messy teal bangs.
“Oh hey. Wasn’t expecting you here. Did you forget something?”
“No. I just…I needed a minute to myself.”
“Ah. Well don’t mind me. I’m just here to grab some cash from my bag real quick.”
“Take your time. I’m about to head back out anyways.”
“Must be a lot of stress, doing so many different things for one event. I’d pass out after two hours but you and your brother seem pretty out together. What’s your secret?”
“Trauma and guilt.” Shiva said, bugging Summer.
“Uhh practice I guess. I’m used to the stakes.”
“I heard that. I mean performing three times in a major crowd like this has we wired, but after doing the opening I think we-”
“Wait, I’m sorry, three?” Summer interjected, confused. “We performed one song.”
“Yeah, we have two more to go.” The bassist said casually. She smiled as she found her wallet but then froze seeing Summer’s face get pale. “Wait, you…did know we have two more performances? Halftime and closing.”
“I was told that I had to do the opening. Nobody said anything more than that.”
“Well…there’s always a middle and end. You’ve done this tourname-”
“Yes! And I’m aware of the closing ceremony, but that’s a speech! As far as halftimes go, I’m in the middle of set ups for singles or in the infirmary from the final fight!” Her voice reached heights that would make her mother jealous.
The poor bassist put her hands up, “Woah, relax. Halftime scheduled after the doubles. It won’t interfere.”
“I don’t think you get it. I haven’t prepared two more songs at all!”
“….Oh….that’s…a problem.”
“Ya think!? Also there’s no way I could ask Nick to do two more. Especially at halftime, he has to fight a completely new bracket. He’ll be too tired. How the- why wasn’t this mentioned in practice!?”
“We assumed you’d just use the practice songs! You made us play so many! Please don’t be mad!”
“I’m not mad! I’m- agh!!!” Summer sat down. This wasn’t good. Certainly not something she wanted to think about before a big match! The bassist walked over and squatted to her height.
“I can tell them we’re performing without you two?”
“But you can’t. I’m sure everyone in the stadium is expecting me at minimum. Even if some aren’t, I promoted a charity . Those who are expecting are going to be really shitty if I don’t come back. It could mess with donations.”
“Ummm. Crap.” She ran her hands through her hair, “Okay, what if you let us lead?”
“What?”
“Me and the gang do plenty of instrumentals as warm ups and for fun. Things we know by heart. What if you…sang over it?”
“That is insane. You are asking me to improvise a live performance!?” Summer felt her knees wobble and stomach twist. She might actually puke.
“Hey, hey! Breathe! You are Summer Schnee, the teen idol!”
“Yeah, who rehearses a song a thousand times! I-”
The bassist holds Summer’s face. It was a lot colder than she expected. “Listen, there’s no way the band can fall in line with one of your songs and get it right on the first try, but you’re different. I’ve seen your performances. Even in practice you were on another level; you’re a genius. I was jealous listening to you tune the guitar earlier. If anyone can improvise a song and get away with it, it’s you. I’ll tell the band what’s happening. Maybe if you have time you can look over one of our instrumentals to pick what works best. I’m sure you have lyrics swimming in that brain all the time.”
“Yeah it’s just…right. You’re right, okay…” Summer took a deep breath, “Okay~”
“Cool, you okay?”
“I think so. Thanks, that was really sweet. I don’t get compliments like that often. I needed that.”
“Seriously? You have fans everywhere, me included.”
“It’s different coming from a musician, better. I like how you play. Sorry if I’ve been terrifying through this experience.”
“Eh, I’m better for it. I can play for longer. I didn’t expect Summer Schnee to actually be this…colorful. You’re kinda a loner.”
“I get that. I’m also a huge asshole because I don’t think I’ve actually asked any of you what your name is.” She admitted, maybe she was a problem to work with.
“Don’t worry about it. Your brother prepped us for you. It’s Artemis by the way, Artemis Hill.”
“…Is your mother-”
“Terrible at names? Little bit; people call me Archery.”
“I’m sorry. At least you’re not named after a season we rarely see, or a direct descendant. Are you obligated to use a bow?”
“Absolutely.”
“Awww I’m sorry!”
The door flung open again with Eliza on the other side. “You!” She pointed at Summer, why aren’t you looking at your scroll!?”
“What!? No way it’s match time!”
“Well maybe you should see what’s happening outside!” Eliza waved frantically.
Summer sprung up and quickly put the Vial back in place and walked out. “We’ll talk later, Archey! Happy hunting!”
“Heh, you too. I got things covered.”
Summer zipped past people who let her pass to get to the railing. In the middle of the arena was Darren and Max.
“There she is!” The cocky teen said with a microphone in one hand and his blood red spear in the other.
One of the many Jumbotrons displayed her face, while another had Nick standing from his seat. Summer looked around awkwardly, “Uhhh Port? Can you give me a recap? I’ve been gone for like ten minutes.” She yelled.
“Certainly!”
xxxx
About five minutes into Summer leaving, the victory buzzer rang. Darren and Max stood victorious in the ring to Nick’s misfortune. It would’ve been hilarious if their match could never happen.
“Alright, in about half an hour it’ll be- huh” Nick stopped short. Darren has begun looking his way and pointing, to everyone’s confusion.
“Mr. Diabhalta?” Port said.
“Let’s have the finals right now!” He declared to all. Murmurs spread amongst the crowd. Even Max looked at him like he was insane.”
“Darren, no!”
“Oh come on! We saw it. The champion’s didn’t even look bothered last match, and we’re still rearing to go!” He pointed at their aura boards, which showed them at 90%”
Nick stood up and cuffed his hands, “The final match is just that, final! You can’t change the bracket just because!”
“Oh quit your crying. Everyone else has already lost a match except you and us. I’m sure the crowd wouldn’t mind seeing who gets first right now, amiright!?” Murmurs turned into excitement. Of course people wouldn’t say no to a good fight. “See? But if you need a moment to stop shaking then I completely understand.”
“Ooooooooo” the crowd instigated. A camera put Nick on the Jumbotron for all to see his unamused expression. It gave everyone chills.
“Nick!” Eliza hissed, “He’s baiting you. The last thing he wants is you and Summer formulating a full plan. Be smart.”
Nick crossed his arms. He looked up at the announcer booth. “Port?”
“Well, it’s highly unconventional but your match is slated to happen and the crowd sure likes it, so as long as all four participants are willing.”
Darren looked at Max with a cocky smirk. Max could only sigh, shrugging. “If it’s what you really want to do.”
“Oh it is. Where’s your partner huh?”
Nick was already calling but got no answer. Maybe it was a sign or purely by chance she didn’t. Nick inhaled slowly through his nose and put together the calmest smile possible. “Eliza, can you glide over to where my sister went?”
xxxxx
And that was that. Summer was the deciding vote. She looked at her family who was absolutely no help, offering shrugs, thumbs up, and thumbs down all at once. Instead she looked at Nick. His calm eyes peered into hers from across the stadium. How easy they lied to everyone. He wasn’t calm. This tournament has been one big annoyance before it began for him. She heard him talk more about things to do after the tournament than during. The exam, Valerie
drama, Darren, preparation, getting sick, even Summer herself has added significant to Nick’s understandable irritation. No, he was not calm; his eyes were asking for one thing and that only she could give him right now. Priority.
Summer looked down at Darren like she had done on the practice stage. “Bring it on.”
The crowd went wild with excitement from those three little words. Nick walked straight over the railing and made a glyph that levitated down to the arena; Summer followed suit on her own glyph down. They were really doing this.
Weiss felt her body tense as she watched. “He’s too emotional. He’ll-”
“It’s fine.” Jaune held her hand. “Look.”
Nick and Summer’s aura gauge popped up with 85% and 76% respectively. Nick took note and made Summer take a position a few feet behind him.
Jaune smiled, “See? He’s still thinking rationally. Give him a little more credit. He’s not me.” Weiss gave him a squint. She always got pouty when he took jabs at himself. “You know I’m right.”
“I know, but don’t say it. I just hope he doesn’t get caught up trying to use his new abilities. Now isn’t the time for that; not if they want a safe approach.”
Nick looked over his shoulder, “You had an idea?”
“Huh?”
“Earlier you said you had ideas for the match.”
“Little late for that!” She huffed, “We have like ten seconds!”
“Then sum it up really quick.”
Today seemed to love putting Summer on a time table. “Darren wants to personally embarrass you. If I don’t help get involved then I doubt Max will interfere.”
“King and Queen’s guard formation is benched, got it. Wait, you think you can deal with Max solo?”
“Yeah.” She looked at the behemoth of a man. He had to be at least three of her in size and weight. How his uniform contained such brawn was beyond her. Then there was his steel sledge hammer that was her size. The pole was perfectly polished and engraved with wings that wrapped around it. The actual dangerous part of the hammer looked metallic with red dust pumping through it like veins delivering blood. “But you know, if you have the time to help…”
“Mmhmm, didn’t have to ask.” Nick wondered if that was even legal, or if Max was actually a teenager and not Cardin himself in disguise. Dude could eat an Ursa!
The biome generated shuffled. Much like a real fight, ya never know where one could happen. The arena became split evenly, the twins half becoming a small beach with a wrecked ship. A far cry from a typical fight in Atlas. Good thing places like Menagerie and Vacou weren’t foreign to them. In fact, Summer was glad.
“A little heat may do me some good.”
“Mind the water.” Nick warned.
“Pfft, I got it. I’m not gonna shock myself or anything if that’s what you’re worried about.”
The other half emerged. A sharp gut blew across the field as icecaps rose up. What better opposing side than the tundra.
Summer’s expression hardened. Nick looked back at her to see if this would be a problem. Summer smiled, “Stop worrying. It’s just another Tuesday over there.” She shook her arms and legs out. It was getting hard to tell what caused the pounding in her chest. Either way, she’s trained for this. Time to put it to use. “Let’s grab gold.”
Darren twirled his spear then hit it against the ground. “Let’s get this show on the road! I owe you for that day in the hallway.”
“Oh yeah?” Nick slicked his hair back. There wasn’t a soul in the stadium that didn’t know what that meant. Kid gloves were officially off.
“Alright, let’s have a good clean match! Darren and Max vs Nicholas and Summer; let the finals…begin!”
Both aggravated boys immediately homed in on each other, darting at one another with tremendous speed. Their weapons clashed violently in the middle of the area, the impact sending them back momentarily until they lunged right back into clashing. Darren’s height gave him the advantage. He maneuvered his spear over Mort Froide and directed it to the floor before running the edge of the spear across Nick’s face; the spear slid back through his hands then shot forward for a thrust attack aimed for the chest. A strike from this position was impossible to avoid. That’s what Darren had thought, so seeing Nick let go of his sword and gripping the spear tight.
“Oh?”
A gigas hand shot from the ground, grabbing Nick’s sword and slashing up along Darren’s torso then smacking his wrists to disarm him. Nick twirled the spear around and threw like a javelin, grazing Darren’s face while aiming at Max. The gigas flung Nick’s sword back into his hands for a slash at Darren’s face but the jerk manifested a pillar of solid green aura between them.
“An opening.” Summer muttered as she leaped up and over the wall as Max was about to catch the spear. His size was misleading compared to his speed. Not only did he catch the spear but instinctively threw it back at Darren for him to catch, raising it to block Summer’s attack. Not one to push her luck, she pushed herself off the polearm to land behind Nick again. “I thought I had it.”
“Don’t sweat it.”
All four stood their ground, gauging what the next move would be. The wall had now divided them, but only for three feet. Easy to go around but dangerous to be read so clearly. Darren stood two feet away from it and Max was further back with his hammer still on the ground, his eyes watching stoically. Darren got a certain satisfaction watching Nick rub his face.
“Like the taste of my Gae Bolg? Finest spear there is. There’s more of that to come.”
“Dude…he lit you hit him.” Max said lazily, “He’s being annoying and feeling you out.”
“What!?”
Nick shrugged, “I mean he’s correct but I wasn’t expecting you to go for a face shot. Guess you really are trash. All the more reason for me not to feel bad hurting you. Summer.”
She put a time glyph below the two of them. The wall was an excellent buffer, not that she really needed it. “Thanks for the divider.”
Darren panicked and immediately removed the wall to attack but it was too late. It only took the blink of an eye before two blades were coming for his face. Darren jumped back and left a gap that Summer ran right through.
She pointed her left hand at him, feinting an attack that provoked Max into rushing in. Summer saw the mighty swing of his hammer, Titan, and jumped on it to avoid a smashed torso. A few rapid thrusts to the chest that did less than nothing. Normally it’s poor taste to needlessly aim for the face, but that formality was not only already out the window, but understandable in certain conditions. Conditions like Max’s semblance. She didn’t hesitate to cut across the bridge of his nose. All it did was graze against living immovable stone. Max tried grabbing her leg so she backflips off the hammer. A quick fireball was sent from her sword and did nothing but melt the snow by his feet.
“You took being built like a statue personally.” Summer chuckled nervously. “Max ‘The Colossus’ Winchester.”
“Summer ‘Ice Queen’ Schnee. Let’s see if you melt.” His hammer glowed brightly as he slammed it into the ground; pure, blistering flames shot up in a row like geysers.
“No! I’ll burn!” She yelped. Summer ran towards the water and spun the chamber of her blade. The waves obeyed her command with the help of wind dust that blasted the water straight through the fire. Summer then changed to lightning dust that rained down on Max. It didn’t prevent him from charging at her with rumbling stomps. Getting close was not her best interest. Summer jumped onto the ship. Combining wind and lightning, the water below became an electrical whirlpool. Orbs of the water shot out in volleys.
Keeping his wits, Max dodged as many as he could as he advanced. An orb hit a glacier, carving a hole into it to his surprise. “Pressurized water?” Next came huge chunks of ice that rained down from several glyphs behind Summer. Max caught one then sent it flying back at her feet. His stone exterior crumbled away to increase his speed as he reached the sand. With the water off limits and the sky flooded with ice, boarding the ship looked impossible.
Winter watched with great intrigue at her niece. “She’ll burn through her dust at this rate, but frankly this might be her best option for now.” Her attention shifted to Nick. Him and Darren were going blow for blow. Each swing was met with the blade and pole of Darren’s spear in rapid succession. It actually looked like the arrogant upperclassman was on the defensive. Still, the quick movements had to be straining.
Veronica watched with the other cheerleaders as they cheered. Even she could tell this situation wasn’t favorable. “C’mon you two. I know you realize it. Switch opponents!” She screams internally.
Nick slashed to the right then spun down low at Darren’s legs but the boy jumped. Another wall separated them briefly. He was making sure to
Keep Nick within perfect spear range. A good tactic if it wasn’t so annoying. Nick went left and then swiveled right for a mix up. He flung the gigas sword to bring the spear into a block. Nick gripped Mort Froide with both hands. Gravity dust inside of it cloaked the sword in black as he swung down with all his might.
Darren grit his teeth. His knees actually buckled from that. “Cheeky little…” he made another wall that raised him up. “You’re not the only dust wielder!” He made a thin, long pillar in his hand and drew it back as his spear became black with its own gravity dust. He let go of his creation to see it launch like a massive arrow.
Nick rolled out the way and began circling around as arrow after arrow left craters where he stood. This might have been more annoying than the spear, but at least Darren was definitely using more aura. “Getting tired?”
“Fat chance you little-”
“DARREN!” Max shouted, his voice echoing.
He turned around immediately to Max. In the air was a massive chunk of ice the size of a boulder. It would appear Summer loved taking pot shots to interrupt when possible. How annoying and a complete buzzkill.
“Butt out!” He fired an arrow that pierced right through the ice, shattering it into smaller chunks around him. Darren looked back at Nick. “Your sister is a real- huh?” He wasn’t there. Not only that, but the ice wasn’t falling.
The chunks floated in place with glyphs, surrounding Darren. The ice turned into swords and the real blade was sent flying right at his feet to make him jump. In that instance, Darren spotted Nicholas behind him in the blade's reflection. He went to turn around to parry but forgot what thing. His spear was still channeling gravity dust, and so was Nick’s.
“Shit…” the spear flew out of his hand. The feeling of a blade’s frozen edge went right across his back then over his chest. Forearm, legs, ribs, neck; Before Darren knew it, Nick was breaking each blade against his body as he ricocheted on the glyphs.
Nick had become absolutely silent. Even his breathing was faint as he poured all his focus into slashing, catching, and then immediately slashing again within a fraction of a second. The only sound that pierced the wind rushing past his ears were the excited screams of the crowd.
Grins spread across his friends like wildfire. Val, Vee, and Eliza cuffed their hands, “Fuck him up!!”
The final blade was suspended at the very top. Nick caught it with his left; his right hand used a gravity glyph that pulled him straight down to his sword like a plummeting star. The impact slammed right down on Darren’s stomach and brought them both down on the aura wall, obliterating it and sending them into the snow.
All the air in Darren’s body left him. His body began to ache, but worse was the fact Nick was right on top of him. The boy's eyes looked down on him, expressionless; colder than the very snow. Nick didn’t even look to be enjoying this advantage. In fact, it looked like he had better things to do. Darren couldn’t help but shake in anger, hopelessly trying to grab his spear.
Mort Froide flipped into Nick’s hand. As he went to deal another devastating blow, his glance went towards a flaming pillar forming right by them. That blew up with his arm caught in it. The distraction was enough for Darren to grab his weapon and swing. Nick jumped off him and saw the flat side of Max’s hammer coming at his face. He formed a glyph that was shattered immediately but absorbed enough impact and gave time for him to block with his left arm. Nick was sent flying to the sand where he tumbled hard until Summer caught him.
Max got Darren on his feet. “Still got gas in the take?”
“Of course I do. Why’d you butt in? I was just about to make my comeback.”
“You’re welcome.” He didn’t show it, but Max could see that Darren was shaken. No, stirring with anger. “They wouldn’t be champions if they weren’t tough.”
“Yeah that’s sinking in, annoyingly so.” He emptied his spear of gravity dust, exchanging it for earth to create a javelin. He stabbed it into the snow. The ground began to shake as spikes shot up from the ground while geysers of flames were made by Max. Combined with the snow, they’ve managed to create the ideal blockade
Nick groaned. He might as well have been hit by a car. If Summer didn’t catch him or was sent in another direction then he very well would have ringed out. “Thanks Summ-” he gasped seeing her breathless and sweaty, body trembling.
“I’m sorry…I burned through too much dust to stop him in time. Guess he’d intervene on his own terms.” The sight of Nick’s arms wasn't great. His right was still smoking while his left was limp. Summer got up and stood in front “I’ll take the lead.”
“But-”
“I can do this!” Her voice shook. Her heart raced. Every part of her wanted this badly. It was time for her to step up!
Nick looked up at the board to see her at 40% while he was at 60%. However, his new injuries were surely gonna make all manners of fighting much harder. As well as make his aura more focused on soothing the pain. The odds weren’t great. Two physically injured, another with lower aura, and then there’s Max. Not only was he at a calm 76, but he didn’t have a real scratch on him. Nick rose to his feet with his sword in right hand.
“If you wanna get your own licks in on Darren, go low.”
Summer took out a vial of earth dust out of his sword and tossed it to Nick for him to use. A gust of wind brought never ending chills to her body. Summer took off running straight ahead. Darren couldn’t help but find it amusing.
“You must be joking. A frontal attack like that won’t-“
Summer’s feet hit the snow and her entire body accelerated up drastically, weaving through the spikes and hopping over flames before they exploded. Every nerve in her began to sting while her chest became increasingly cold. Summer pointed the top of her blade at the snow which began to swirl. Max turned to stone immediately. Clever as always. Unfortunately… Summer wasn’t feeling quite like herself anymore.
“Break.” A trail of ice shot up along the ground with an upward slash that slammed right into Max and lifted him off his feet away from his partner.
“The hell!?” Darren watched the girl dip in and out of cover until she closed the gap in an instant with her body poised to stab up at his chest with a lunge. He knew immediately to swipe low at the height of her upper body. The stone edge of the javelin nearly had its target when a surprise stone glyph appeared by her side and shot up a giant stone blade that blocked the javelin, destroying both while diminishing its reach. Darren’s calculated attack was now far too early and whiffed entirely.
“I got him.” Summer went all into striking Darren. Her blade aimed true for his body but in an act of desperation, Darren placed himself inside his own wall of aura. “What!?”
“DO IT MAX!” Darren screamed. A loud rumbled the ground. Festering heat built at their feet that gave way to self made magma, a fusion of the duo’s dust attack.
“AAAAAAGGGGHHHH!”Summer screamed in pure pain, her cries silencing everyone for seconds as her aura dropped immediately to 20%.
The feeling was indescribable and brief. The flood of orange and red dissipated around her along with the air. Her vision only cleared soon enough to see Max once again in front of her. This time with slightly chipped armor and a blazing hammer.
“I guess you do melt.” He swung true, aiming to finish her off.
Summer could do nothing but fall forward into it. Her body refused to compromise. If it wasn’t for the ice dust woven in her clothes, that last attack would’ve been it. Not that it mattered. With nothing else to do she shut her eyes in fear as they welled up. Summer waited for what felt like an eternity for the final blow to mark her end, when the sound of a visceral crunch hit her ears, yet, nor her body. Summer opened her eyes and managed a breathless gasp. White Arma Gigas armor faded before her eyes and left the sight of her brother soaring through the air. The crumbling hands of the summon pushed Summer away while Nick’s body fell limp off the ring. The sound of a single buzzer startling everyone.
Darren and Max stood motionless. They didn’t even see Nick get close. Not only that, but the sand from where he stood had only now begun to hit the ground. Darren turned his attention back to Summer, who was still dazed, and darted right at her, his spear poised to end this.
Summer didn’t even move as a million thoughts and the sight of Nick unconscious on screen flooded her very being. She had finally noticed Darren inches away from finishing her off when thick ice encased her in the form of a rose, too dense to see into.
Darren’s spear did nothing more than scrap the surface. “Dammit. You’re delaying the inevitable!”
Weiss covered her mouth in shock seeing her son hit the ground. A look at the screen showed his aura somehow dropped to 32% in the matter of a minute. It wasn’t critical but instant damage like that is serious, and hadn’t gotten up yet. Weiss had stood up but Harriet and Ruby appeared by his side with Penny a second behind.
Penny quickly scanned him. “He’s okay!” She said, relieved, “Just a bad hit.” Penny put him in her arms to carry when he suddenly took a deep breath and opened his eyes violently. “Hey! Hey! You’re okay. Deep breaths~”
Nick’s entire body trembled. Not only that, but Veronica suddenly felt her stomach go into knots as a familiar stench filled the air. She couldn’t take her eyes off the ice barrier Summer made.
Max and Darren did their best to pound away at it but it didn’t budge. Also, the snow from the tundra swirled around it.
“Ugh! Max, melt it away!”
“Out of fire dust.” He waved his non-glowing hammer. “Just keep smashing in one spot.”
“Tsk.” Darren did just that. Each strike invigorated him more and more. “Knock knock princess! Time to give up your crown.”
Stupid stupid stupid stupid; that’s all she could think about herself. Of course Darren would risk a move like that. Inside had Summer on her hands and years out of frustration and pure adrenaline. The sound of the attacks vibrated the fortress she had made. How did this happen!? She had all the choices in her hands. Why didn’t she refuse the challenge? Was Nick truly eager to fight or was she just eager to please. In the end it ended like it always does, him protecting her the moment she tried taking the lead. Another plan fell to pieces because she couldn’t see the obvious flaws. She didn’t even bother to ask what Nick’s plan was. He would’ve known better or been fast enough to dodge. He had done it literally moments prior! Now he was hurt because of her and it and they were going to lose. Unless…
Summer took out the vial of Diamond Dust. She shouldn’t. This shouldn’t be that important. No one would want her to. She told herself all these things and yet Summer wanted to win so much. The cold seeped into her very being and before she knew it, she was back in her headspace with Shiva standing a couple feet away.
“You’ve seen better days, but then again I suppose you’ve also seen worse.” The cheeky girl looked at the vial. “And what in Remnant do you plan on doing with that?” She asked mockingly.
Summer stood up. “I’m…going to use you.” Her trembling stopped . “No, I will use you.” She said with vigor, “And you’re gonna let me!”
Shiva raised a brow. “I’ll let you? Heh, child, what ground do you have to order me around? In fact…” she stepped closer to Summer right to the point she was only a hair away. “I think I’ll finish our little game once and for all.”
Summer stood unblinking, her eyes giving no fear. “You won’t do it. Despite what you always say, I’m no idiot and neither are you. Taking me out would be so easy right now, but would the same be true for all the huntsmen and security outside? Yang wouldn’t even let you get off the arena let alone Amity itself. The first display of your power to the entire world, reduced to the significance of a snowflake.”
Shiva’s eyes narrowed. “Well aren’t we mouthy today?” She stepped away to look at the lake. “What an interesting letter scenario.”
“You’re always going on about just how great you are. Well show me then, no killing.”
“No shit.” Shiva looked back at Summer. The girl was clearly desperate, yet her argument was perfectly sound. Shiva could since the deep seeded desire to win. She couldn’t help but laugh a little.
Summer’s eyes narrowed, “What’s so funny?”
“Nothing. It’s just odd. Since when the hell do you look like me? It’s kinda creepy.” Shiva vanished and reappeared with her hand pressed against Summer’s heart. “Fine, I’ll humor you~”
Summer broke the vial…her mind began to fog as the tiny crystals filled the confined space. Summer began shaking.
“Don’t lose control. Don’t lose control. Don’t lose- lose control. Control. Control control control…control. Don’t… Don’t Lose.”
The brief interaction was only but a second for everyone else. Darren and Max had their weapons overhead to slam down in union when the sudden glow of the ice gradually became brighter before exploding violently. A plume of snow hid her from all. Watchers starred with the same anticipation as before, ignorant of what had transpired. Summer’s aura gauge itself didn’t move, but the 20% had become N/A. Port nearly rang the buzzer thinking the explosion took her out, but then witnessed the snow blow away. There she was, standing normally.
“Ummm I’m not sure what just happened but it looks like Ms. Schnee is still able to continue, but for how long in such an unfavorable situation.”
There wasn’t a family member that wasn’t completely still. Valerie found herself unable to speak and Veronica was no longer cheering like her peers. Even Eliza, though unaware of the situation, felt herself start to sweat as the camera panned to Summer who now wore a tiara of ice and whose eyes glowed pale blue to anyone who paid attention.
“So you finally show yourself!” Darren said with a smirk.
The girl who stood before him smirked back just as confidently. “Yeah. I’m finally here.”

We Were Wild - Prologue
Hey guys. As you may be able to tell, I am a HUGE Minnesota Wild fan. A huge hockey fan in general. I decided to write a fanfic about the Wild and Kaprizov (the love of my life). I’m writing this for my own entertainment but I also hope you guys like it. Even if you aren’t a NHL fan, I think this will be a cute love story. You don’t need to know the players.
Thanks guys.
Also the title will probably change... Haha.

____________________________________________________
Prologue:
The cold always felt like home to me. Winter always made me happier than the summer ever could. With winter came skating and hot chocolate. It also brought blizzards and freezing temperatures, things that often reminded me of myself…
I woke up with the air feeling extra heavy within my room. The humidity would not let up, especially during a Minnesota summer. On top of that, my air conditioner sat broken in the window, mocking me.
I could hear the sounds of rush hour beginning. I pulled my curtains open to see the city bustling around me. I smiled down at the busy street below me. Whenever I looked out the window at the traffic below, I felt on top of the world. Something about the busy city made me feel at home. After spending my time at college up in the northland, I was happy to be back in the cities.
I let out a yawn and made my way down the hallway. I could see my college best friend and current roommate pouring a bowl of cereal out of the corner of my eye as I slipped into the bathroom.
“Kat! You aren’t really going to spend the rest of your summer in an ice rink, right?” Eliza yelled across the apartment at me when she heard the faucet running. I chuckled as I splashed the cool water on my face.
“You know I love hockey,” I retorted, grabbing my toothbrush. I heard her snicker and told me to come eat breakfast before I left. I shook my head though. My stomach was filled with butterflies at the idea of starting my new job.
I pulled my long brown hair out of my face and up into a high ponytail. I couldn’t have it getting in the way today. I applied a small amount of makeup before really looking at myself in the mirror. I smiled, trying my hardest not to look too tired.
“Come at least sit with me while I eat breakfast!” Eliza whined. I chuckled and walked out to the kitchen. I filled a glass of water and sat down next to her. She rolled her eyes when she saw the excitement in me. “You know they only want you because of the new Russian kid they’re bringing in. You’re basically going to be a translator, Katerina.”
Sadly, she was right. They hired me as a photographer, but they asked me to help their newest rookie out. I had a feeling that pictures would be lower on my task list then I had initially expected.
They hired me because I had hockey photography experience from college. I took photos for my university’s hockey team. Not to mention that they were one of the best college teams in the US. However, they also hired me because I was Russian.
Katerina Petrov, first generation immigrant. My parents immigrated to the US when I was four. My mother didn’t speak a word of English and my dad had a limited vocabulary. He basically got a factory job by saying, “I fix that for you,” and pointing at a machine. Russian was my first language and English was my second.
“I know…” I muttered. “But on top of that, they’re paying me to shoot their games. That’s my dream. Plus who wouldn’t want to be surrounded by the hottest team in the NHL.”
She laughed at my joke, knowing damn well that I was right. The Minnesota Wild has some of the best looking hockey players across North America. Still, Eliza looked at me and told me not to get my hopes up. She was right, this job might not be what I think it would be.
After she had finished eating, we both went back to our rooms to get ready for the day. She was off to her engineering job and I was heading to the TRIA Rink where the Minnesota Wild held practice. We lived very different lives.
My jaw hung open as I walked up to the building. I couldn’t believe that I was actually here. I secured my camerabag on my back and took a deep breath. I slipped my face mask on and pulled the door open.
Inside the lobby, Bruce Kluckhohn waited for me. He smiled at me as I walked in. I walked up confidently and offered him a handshake. I greeted him nicely with a huge smile on my face.
“Katerina, right?” he asked me. I smiled and held back my chuckle. Hearing my full name in an American accent always caught me off guard.
“You can call me Kat,” I said. He nodded in response and took me around the practice arena.
It was cold and empty when we got there. There was no sign of players anywhere. My head swiveled around to see everything about the room. I took mental notes on where the lights were and where the best spots to stand would be. I glanced at the plexiglass around the rink and smiled at how clear they were still.
“You won’t have to worry about that,” Bruce said as he motioned for me to follow him. I tilted my head in confusion and walked slowly behind him. We made our way around the rink and onto the bench. I could feel the chilled air radiating off of the ice. Bruce turned to me with a smile. “You will shoot from here.”
I stared at him in silence for a moment as my mind tried to process what he was saying. Why would I get such an awesome spot to shoot from? I opened my mouth to ask questions but I was interrupted by someone behind me. I turned around at the call of my name and saw someone I would recognize a mile away. Dean Evanson, the Wild’s head coach, stood right in front of me.
“Katerina, it’s wonderful to meet you,” he said with a smile. He shook my hand.
“Hi,” I said, freezing up a little bit. “You can call me Kat.”
I could tell he was surprised by my voice. I sounded very American and he was not expecting it. Even though I was Russian first, I lost my accent at a young age. I spoke English everywhere except for at home and having an accent made things harder for me growing up.
“Okay Kat,” he said, a smile on his face. “C,mon. I can show you the rest and explain things a little bit more.”
I nodded and followed him through the rest of the training facilities. It was a huge building and I could see myself getting lost before I got used to it. I listened carefully as he explained the situation to me. As I listened, I felt myself getting more and more discouraged. The reason I was here was to provide Bruce a hand. There was no guarantee that they would use my photos anyways. The main reason I was here was to help with communication between the coaches and their newest team member, Kirill Kaprizov. That’s why I would shoot their practices from the bench. It was so I could provide clarification at practice whenever he needed it.
“We really appreciate having you here and we look forward to seeing the talent you bring to our team,” Dean said as we made it back to the rink. I forced a smile on my face and nodded, telling him I would do my hardest before he walked away.
After he left, I looked out at the rink and noticed a few of the players skating on the ice. Bruce was over on the side opposite of me taking a few photos of the guys. There were no coaches around, but they looked like they were working on some drills. I walked over to the bench and pulled my camera out. I attached my 70-200 mm lens and adjusted my settings carefully. I snapped a couple of photos, observing the players on the ice. I immediately recognized a couple of them. Jared Spurgeon. Mats Zuccarello. Kevin Fiala. Matt Dumba. I could name them all. Well, all but one.
He looked young. He had to be around my age. His dirty blonde hair stuck out the back of his helmet. However, the thing I noticed the most was that he looked frustrated. He skated over to the bench, muttering to himself.
“I’m trying to understand, but I keep messing it up,” he said under his breath. However, he didn’t say it in English. This was him. This was Kirill Kaprizov.
“You’re working hard. Don’t worry, it will get easier,” I said to him.
His head shot in my direction. He had this dumbfounded look on his face as he stared at me.
“You can understand me?”

While I was looking at your fantastic art of Kero x Idia, I couldn't help but imagine the ghost marriage event, lol. A bunch of students is trying to seduce a ghost and the everyone elseis trying to prevent Kero from finding out.
KeroIdia makes me days brighter so I’m not stopping any soon about shipping them together lmao. AND YES AHHH LISTEN. Ghost marriage would be A CHAOTIC THING FOR THEM BOTH. So just everyone knows, Ghost Marriage spoilers ahead. Because I actually have a huge headcanon about this event with Kero there. I like to go alongside the overall funny context of the event (despite Idia fearing for his life lol) so I think it would be natural that both Ortho and Kero would find about Idia being kidnapped, since they are the ones who are closer to him. Kero would no hesitate and would try to fight ALL THE GHOST BY HIMSELF. But won’t work because they are too many, so he got overwhelmed (poor boi) Sadly, he would go with Ortho to Crowley and everyone else asking to help them to save Idia. He would get really mad and offended that none of them want to help tho, and actually would try to throw hands with everyone (Leona, probably) that badmouths Idia, making the situation even worse. Thanks goodness that Crowley and Ortho are there to stop him. They come out with the idea “seduce the ghost bride so we can get rid of them” and Kero meet the heaight requeriment of being above of 1.85 cm, but the conversation would go by this Kero: What?! I am not gonna go. Crowley: Didn’t you wanted to help your dorm leader? Kero:  Of course I do, but I am not gonna try and seduce her. She is my rival!!! Everybody else: ...Rival? Kero: Also, won’t it be faster if I just try to eat her? That might work. Everybody else: No that won’t work. She is a ghost.
So anyway, first round of grooms go to see if they are succesful. They are not. So Kero gets even more mad to see Eliza saying Idia is “her perfect prince” and listen, HE HAD ENOUGH. He goes with the second round of possible grooms to try and make Eliza change her mind, and when Idia sees Kero there he has A LITTLE BIT OF HOPE. “Ah this might work!! Kero is very protective of Ignihyde’s residents and he is always saying he is my best friend... He is tall and kinda attractive, so he is going to try his best this time, right?! I might be saved here!!” But that’s just Idia expectations. The reality is very different: Eliza: What do you think you are better than my Idia? Everybody else: *Become quiet, not really knowing what to expect from Kero. Is he gonna try to fight her for kidnapping Idia? Is he really going to go along with the plan??* Kero: ...Listen. I know. Nobody is better than him!! Trust me!! I know how you feel!!! BUT--!!! Eliza: !!!! *Freaks out and slaps him confusedly* So yeah, everyone is dissapointed, but not surprised, including Ortho. Idia is speechless because he doesn’t know why he had any hope in him. Because Kero had the right feelings, but like always, he does not proceed how he should. Floyd: Haha, you were even worse than the lil’ cocodrile! Leona: Weren’t you the first one who said that will save the raddish sprout? What a pathetic watchdog. Kero: Shut the hell up. Idia: What was that... *sighs* Kero: Idia, I am really sorry... I lost at the war that is love for your heart... Idia: Excuse me what are you talking about?! You didn’t even tried properly!!! Kero: Don’t worry, I won’t ever give up on you! Idia: Well, you will have to if I end dying!! You are not even listening to me. Anyways, the final group of grooms appear and apparently Ace saves the day (to Kero’s disgust but well, it worked) so when Idia is released, Ortho and Kero are very relieved to see Idia safe and not going anywhere, so they hug him happily. And probably they won’t leave Ignihyde for some time after that. So that’s it anon, that’s how Ghost Marriage would go with Kero there. Nothing would change because I always rather prefer to fit Kero’s interactions with the whole thing than be different. I hope you liked this entire huge headcanon!! After this I think that nobody would doubt that Kero will fight passionately for Idia’s love again lol

CIRCLE WEEK - MICHAEL WAYLAND
Tumblr media
“How about Thursday?” Michael asked.
“Hmm?” the girl looked up in confusion.
“You mentioned you have training on Wednesday,” Michael said. “How about Thursday then?”
Was it desperate to ask her if she was available on the very next day? Did he seem too clingy? He didn’t really know. He didn’t have much experience in asking out women. He didn’t have much experience asking out men either.
Michael didn’t know if it had something to do with their age or the testosterone or just peer pressure…But he started to feel as if all they ever talked about was girls.
Valentine couldn’t stop raving Jocelyn’s praises. Lucian was no better.
Stephen could not look more lovestruck even if he tried.
And Robert…Well, Robert was clearly into Maryse as well.
Clearly.
Definitely.
Michael found it frustrating sometimes – not the Robert thing. That was frustrating ALL the time. But the girls. When did everyone suddenly become obsessed with girls? Sometimes he felt they talked more about the girls than the purpose of the Circle.
Fine. Maybe he was exaggerating a little. But it was only because he felt…left out. Michael had never liked pretending. He aimed to be honest and upfront about his feelings. Always.
But now, it was as if he couldn’t be honest about anything at all.
It wasn’t that he didn’t want to talk about girls. He didn’t mind. But it felt awfully unfair that everyone else got to talk about the person they liked when Michael…well, he couldn’t, could he?
When Valentine talked about Jocelyn sharp wit to the edge of a seraph blade or Stephen talked about the way Amatis’ eyes gleamed when she laughed out loud…What was Michael supposed to say?
All he could think of was how the eyes he loved the most in the world reflected the exact shade of lake Lyn during a full moon.
But he didn’t think they would appreciate that thought. They wouldn’t even care to hear it.
Not even him.
“I can’t on Thursday,” Eliza Rosewain said now. “I have a meeting.”
“Meeting?” Michael echoed. “What meeting? I wasn’t aware-”
“It’s a mundane meeting,” Eliza informed him. “It’s actually happening in New York. Papa said he will organize a portal for me.”
Ah. Of course. Eliza had always seemed to be more interested in mundane activities than shadowhunter ones.
Michael wondered if she ever considered giving her runes and becoming a mundane herself.
He knows he has. At least once.
But he couldn’t do that to Robert.
Sure, life has a mundane would be easier. The mundane world had so much to offer. Less pain. Less loneliness. More hope. More independence.
But there was nothing the world could offer that would make him abandon Robert.
Nothing at all.
“What’s the meeting about?” Michael asked.
He didn’t much care about the mundane world or the meeting. But he wanted to be nice.
Being interested in one’s girlfriends’ hobbies is was supposedly one of the things that is expected of a boyfriend.
Or so he had learned.
“Here,” she passed him a leaflet, one of many that seem to be piled inside her satchel.
Michael dropped it as soon as his eyes scanned the page.
“This…This is,” he stammered, his fingers shaking. “This is for-”
“Oh please,” Eliza rolled her dark eyes. “You can’t catch the disease by touching the leaflet, Michael.”
Michael started taking small, shaky breaths. Not that Eliza noticed.
“Did you know there are reported AIDS cases now in more than 30 countries?” Eliza asked. “But regardless of where it is, seems to me that it is always the marginalized who get affected first.”
Michael tried to gain control over his breathing. “How do you mean?”
“Well, if you take a look at the numbers – and mind you I have – many deaths are from the gay community or people of colour or even those in poverty. These people who don’t have access to resources and face stigma are in more tro-”
“So, this meeting,” Michael interrupted. “It’s for the…for gay people, is it?”
It was the worst time he had said the word out loud.
It felt weird. Not as emancipating as he had hoped it would be. Perhaps this had not how he had imagined it happening for the first time.
“Not necessarily. It’s for men who have sex with men. So that could be gay men or bisexual men too,” Eliza pushed back her gold rimmed glasses. “There is an organization in New York currently focusing on this issue. I’m hoping to meet their leader, you see. See if there is anything I can do.”
“What can you do to help them?” Michael asked genuinely confused.
“Well, I don’t know, Michael!” Eliza said incredulously. “That’s why I’m going to the meeting. To find out!”
“Oh,” Michael said. “And you…you’re not afraid?”
“Afraid of what?” she asked, scribbling on one of the leaflets.
“Afraid of them,” he said quietly. “To be in a meeting full of…people like that.”
To his surprise, Eliza laughed.
Michael noticed she looked pretty when she did. Was this what boys noticed every time they spoke to girls? But Eliza’s smile didn’t create butterflies in his stomach. It didn’t create anything at all. Not even a caterpillar.
On the other hand…with Robert, it was different.
Michael’s heart not only skipped every time he made Robert smile. But it ached to see it even when it wasn’t there. He wanted Robert to smile all the time – and he wanted to be the one who made him smile.
“By the Angel, Michael!” Eliza said. “Why would I be afraid of them?”
“I…I don’t know,” Michael shrugged. “Because they…I don’t know. Valentine doesn’t like them. I heard him call these men weak f-”
“Well, Valentine is a bit of wanker, isn’t he?” Eliza asked, and Michael did his best not to snort. “He thinks anyone who is different from him is weak. I know that’s how he feels about downworlders too.”
“So…So you don’t think these men are…weak?”
“Of course not,” Eliza said indignantly. “We might have angel blood, but that does not make us better than everybody else. Better looking than everyone else perhaps. But not better.”
Michael stared at her. How? How could they have grown up in the same country and had the same upbringing and have such different views of the world?
They were all in the same academy. They all had the same teachers. Their parents more or less the same. Then how?
Why were some people so nice and the others utterly horrible?
“I suppose you are right,” Michael shrugged.
Eliza chuckled. “Think of it this way. There are two of us here. Let’s say one of us is gay or bisexual or whatever and the other is heterosexual.”
Michael choked on air and covered it up as a cough.
“If a Raum demon appears out of nowhere right now,” Eliza pressed on. “Do you think it would kill one of us and spare the other? Do you think it cares if we are gay or straight or whatever else?”
“I suppose not,” Michael replied.
“What if one of was a downworlder? Or poor than the other? Or a person of colour? Or an immigrant?” Eliza kept shooting. “Who do you think the demon would choose? The minority person or the one who belongs to the majority and has more power?”
Michael blinked. “I…I don’t know. I don’t think the demon cares to be honest.”
“Exactly that! Demons don’t care! Demons don’t discriminate based on sexuality, you see,” Eliza said in a wise tone as if she knew all the secrets in the world. Maybe she did. “They don’t care about gender or ethnicity or race or socio-economic status! Only people discriminate based on these things.”
Michael wanted to tell her she was right. But his throat didn’t seem to be working.
“I know our mandate is to kill demons,” Eliza said quietly. “But sometimes I feel as if we are worse than the creatures we hunt.”
Michael was quiet.
Eliza suddenly noticed the awkward silence and seemed flustered. “I’m so sorry for ranting. You know I’m very passionate about these things. Next time, I start raving, feel free to knock me out with your witch light.”
Michael smiled. “Thanks!”
“For what?” she asked.
Michael shrugged.
She smiled at him. “Forget about it. Who cares if women like women or men like men. Why is that even a problem? We have bigger things to worry about!”
“Like what?”
“Like whatever the hell Valentine is planning,” she rolled her eyes.
He didn’t want to talk about it. Not with her. Not yet.
“You know,” he said now, getting off the grass and holding out his hand to her – another kind of thing boyfriends did. “If you liked women, I’d be totally cool with it.”
“Haha,” she said in mock laughter, although he could feel her fingers shake slightly – perhaps due to the cold – as she grabbed his hand and got up. “Well, if you are gay, I’d be totally cool with it too.”
Maybe she was joking. Maybe she wasn’t.
But it was the kindest thing anyone had every said to him in a long, long time.

I'm sorry if it's a stupid question but which adaptation is that "my love for eliza was nothing more than a brother's love" line from????? Thank you in advance!! :3
DW it's not a bad question!! :D i would put titles in all the posts but my thought process is that I don't want to praise/share around a book that I'm still reading and then find out later in the story there's something absolutely abhorrent that ruins the whole thing jddhsvn if i share anything of an abhorrent book I wanna be prepared to write warnings so nobody gets blindsided by triggering content when they were expecting something good HAHA
BUT I REALLY RECOMMEND THIS ONE. it's called The Modern Prometheus by Nicole Mello! (more detail under the cut because i rambled)
it's a bit odd at first because it is a modern-day retelling and I'm usually not into those, and it starts off with psychologist Walton (who is for some reason rewritten as a woman?) doing an interview with Victor, who's been arrested for the murders of Elizabeth and Henry. Vic then tells his story which Walton records and transcribes
but once you get past the weird premise, it is VERY emotional and heartfelt and refreshing. I didn't actually cry while reading frankenstein but this book broke me down 😭
merits: it's got diversity that i haven't seen in any other frankenstein books so far. victor is vietnamese and adopted into the black frankenstein family, and eliz is indian. ernest is trans and everyone is extremely accepting and supportive. victor explains struggling with understanding his feelings for henry as he grows up, and how he realized that heteronormativity made him think that he'd fall for someone like liz, but he actually was only ever in love with henry. theyre openly in a relationship and had plans to marry ;v; vic's dad is also completely supportive of them (iirc caroline passed before they started dating)
it's mentioned in just one sentence that caroline briefly entertained the idea that liz and vic might "fall in love or something" but once she saw that they accepted each other as siblings, she dropped the idea, and it's never mentioned again. they're just siblings and extremely close and loving ;-; it's really nice to see them be protective of and caring for each other and still affectionate while knowing it's completely platonic. liz is also very affectionate and loving to henry, again totally platonically, so it's also great to see such a close devoted m/f friendship that has not even hints of romance
i also really like the writing style personally. it's not a pastiche and doesn't use lofty english at all; it's written in a modern, easy-to-digest style while still being very vivid and expressive.
and god the characters, i think, are the most accurate depictions I've seen in an adaptation yet. it's VERY striking. liz is gentle but strong willed and determined, and equally attached to both vic and henry (who she also sees as a brother figure).
henry is described only from victors pov of course, and it'll break ya heart i swear. victor describes him as being his everything, and the most amazing, incredible person, and he's constantly getting sidetracked to go back to henry. but henry has character of his own, and while he is an extremely kind, forgiving man, he doesnt passively accept the awful things victor has done. he loves victor and is loyal to him, but he makes it clear that he isn't happy with what hes done, and in victors isolation he tried to push henry away. he mentions how their relationship was never the same, even though they were still in love, he put a barrier between them :[
and to me this victor is a really good portrayal because he DID do all the wrong he did in canon, but he isn't outright villainized. he's still sympathetic, a guy who messed up horribly, and knows that even though he never intended to hurt anyone, the loss of his family was in large part his fault. he realizes what he's done, but he also knows it's too late to fix it, and he regrets everything so much and doesn't have hope to forgive himself.
he held on long enough to tell his story to Walton because he wanted henrys memory to be recorded :[ and a little detail of the book that I like... there's a dedication page at the front that's something like "For Henry, without whom there would be no life at all" and you're like aw, the author had a henry in her life too and you move on to read, but near the end when victor breaks down over henry in the recording and tells walton how he wants henrys legacy to be preserved, he's like "when you write the book or whatever you're going to do with these transcripts and notes, could you please dedicate it to henry? I'm not a poet but maybe 'for henry, without whom there would be no life at all' or something like that"
and one part in particular that i think (imo) is a nice summary of victors character: (suicide cw) at one point victor has a moment confiding that he desperately wished he could die, because he felt so miserable and guilty and knew the world would be better off without him and if he was dead, the creature would have no reason to keep killing his loved ones—but vic never stopped to think how losing him would devastate the rest of his family, who had gone through so much already and needed him. i just think that's an accurate portrayal of him bc he doesn't want to hurt anyone; he does nothing with intent of harm, and he dearly loves those around him. but he thinks his idea of what to do is the best route for everyone's sake, and he just doesn't really see things from others pov to consider how they might be hurt or heartbroken by his decisions
also briefly touching on creature: the father/son role is really emphasized here. victor does name the creature from the start (adam... which I'm not a fan of personally but, victor did acknowledge that his creation needed a name) and like in canon, was terrified of him when he saw him animated. creature does see himself as an abandoned child, and describes how he at first saw victor as wonderful and craved his love, but once he learned victor had made him repulsive and nobody would love him, creature resented him.
bonus points for portraying creature as neither unaware of his deeds, or just inherently violent. like in canon, he wasn't made for evil, but he kills calculatingly and only with the purpose of hurting victor. victor does attempt to build a female creature, but tears her apart after it hits him that they could procreate (but in this book he remembers how foolish that was, because he could have just left out her reproductive organs, but he was so distraught with panic over creature's threats towards vics family that he wasn't thinking). it hits harder in this book because of how its described. creature tells vic that since vic made him alone with nobody to love him, creature was going to make vic alone too, and when he had nobody left, he and creature would be each other's sole companions
anyway HAHA i might post a more detailed review but I really recommend this book ;3; very heartbreaking, refreshing and strong once you get past the initial strangeness of a modern telling. (it is mostly clean, for a frankenstine adaptation, but there's a couple warnings besides the typical frankenmurders and corpses and stuff: addiction is briefly addressed, some of the corpses are described a bit graphically, and there is some discussion of suicide, that's all i can recall)
tl;dr: really good, emotional book that, once you get over the initial surprise of a modern day setup, has lots of diversity, positive relationships, great character portrayals and is really faithful to the original overall, and the changes that are made have their place. my favorite adaptation so far 😭

Two Pints ‘A Sam Adams.
Prompt: The night after the Winter’s Ball, the guys hang at Laf’s house to discuss their luck. A very drunk John gets the blues when he learns Alex met someone. Until Laf gets an Idea...
THIS IS A TICKLE FIC!
Warnings: drinking, tickling, A N G S T Y.
Ships: Lams
Word count: too fuckin many. Probably about 2.5-3k
1780, A winter’s ball. And Alexander was the envy of all. Well, just of his friends. The guys were gathered around Lafayette’s coffee table, reminiscing the night’s events...
“She was totally into you Laf.” Hercules chimed.
“She was! But Alex over ‘ere...” Lafayette spoke with a condescending tone.
“Okay you may be right...” Alex replied fearfully
“But...?” Hercules asked lifting his brows.
“There is no but. Angelica was totally hot, I wanted to try my luck.” Alexander spoke with a smirk.
“You asshole!” Lafayette playfully hit Alexander’s shoulder
“Well I heard...” John finally spoke up, “that you met a special someone tonight...”
“What are you trying to ‘ide, Alex?” Lafayette asked raising his eyebrows twice
“Nothing! Nothing! John is just shit blasted, that’s all.” Alexander laughed off Laf’s question.
“Fuck off, ‘lex! I’m fINE!” John replied with a huff.
“John.. that’s your third pint of Sam’s.” Hercules interrupted.
“I’m not even wasted yet! Fuck you!” John yelled as he took another swing of his alcohol.
“Annnnywayyyys...” Alexander responded, drawing the attention back to him, “I did meet someone”
Hercules turned to face him, Laf’s eyes lit up and John was... scowling?
Alexander went on to talk about Eliza. He talked about her eyes, her smile, her personality... everything. Lafayette left to grab John some water, so he wouldn’t pass out and die.
As Alexander went on, John found himself fighting away his tears. “Why is she so special? I have pretty eyes! And a dazzling smile... and a... tolerable personality.” John thought to himself. He sulked down into his chair, plastered an interested grin and toned Alexander out. His own mind turned on him, putting himself down until he didn’t believe in himself anymore. John brushed it off, he always felt this way. He didn’t feel good enough. It wasn’t until after a few glasses of water, and a little bit of sobriety, when he noticed he was actually hurting.
“John?” Alexander’s voice suddenly sounded, “John buddy are you okay?” His voice was full of concern, as he awaited a response from his friend.
“Alex what’s wrong? Oh shi- John!?” Hercules scooted towards the man.
“Shit guys ‘mfine... what are you all-“ John pauses abruptly. He looked down at his pants to see they were covered in wet spots. He was crying. “Oh yeah... haha that’d probably concern you. This just happens when I get drunk.” John was practically sober now. It wasn’t from his drunkness, it was from Alexander.
“If you say so... we wouldn’t want anything to happen to you. We love you man.” Alexander replied.
“Heh. Thanks.” John replies with a sniffle. “Except you don’t... you love Eliza...”
The guys went back to shooting the shit, leaving John alone in his thoughts once again.
Lafayette looked up at John, who had his hands balled up into fists. He clung tightly to the material on his pants, teeth gritted, eyes watering. Laf figured it would be best to not make a scene, so he slowly inched toward John. Once he was near him he ever so carefully brought himself up to John’s level. “You don’t seem fine mon ami”
John looked up at Lafayette, who wore a concerned face, with sympathetic eyes. He then hung his head in shame... how embarrassing, Laf caught him crying, again.
Alexander and Hercules went into the kitchen to grab some food, too immersed in their conversation to notice what was happening.
Lafayette helped John to his feet, and helped him out the front door. It was a mild night, the heat had not yet broken in the city. The crying man collapsed on the soft grass, Lafayette soon sat down criss cross. “Now please, John. Tell me what’s wrong”
John immediately broke down, wailing as he buried his head in his hands. Lafayette practically flung himself to embrace the crumbling man in front of him. “Everything’s going to be okay mon ami. Shhh. It’s okay.”
“He... he... Im just-“ John tried to manage through his hysterics.
“Take your time.” Laf said as he rubbed John’s back.
“I’m... I’m just...” John sighed, he couldn’t take it anymore, “I’m just gay, Laf.” He hung his head in shame, expecting Lafayette to scold him.
“Oh John...” Laf spoke up, “I’m not going to shame you for who you are”
John sighed in relief; tears continued streaming down his face.
“I catch you staring at ‘erc and Alex’s asses all of the time mon ami.” Lafayette said with a chuckle. “Come on, let’s go back inside.”
Laf wipes John’s tears away and helps him to his feet. On their way in, Laf sees the curtain ruffle quickly. Hercules and Alex has seen everything. When they open the door, Alex and Hercules were back in their chairs talking about random things.
“Oh. Hey John, hey Laf! Where’d you guys go?” Alexander questioned with fake interest.
“Oh uh... on a walk.” John said quickly
“To the store.” Laf said at the same time
“To the st-“
“On a walk.” They replied at the same time once more.
“On a walk to the store, yeah...” John replied
“John... dont bullshit us, we heard everything.” Hercules said quietly.
John hung his head in shame. Why couldn’t he just be normal?
“John listen.” Alex said with a half smile, “we aren’t friends with you because we thought you were straight. We’re friends with you because we love you for who you are. Also, how’s my ass look?” He said as he turned around and wiggled.
John let out a genuine laugh, “peachy keen good sir!” he said with a bow, “Thank you guys but.. I just don’t feel good enough for you.” He sighed and looked everywhere but at his friends.
“Well this is quite the dillema we’re in isn’t it.” Lafayette said as he looked at the other group members.
They all plastered the same grin, they knew JUST what to do.
“Come here John everything is fine.” Hercules said as he opened his arms. He pulled John into an embrace and sat down on the floor with him.
“Okay Herc thats enough hugging... seriously let me go.” John said as he tried to wiggle his way out of Herc’s grip. He got stuck at about his chest, he couldn’t move a muscle! “Hercules I mean it! I’m stuck!”
Alexander crawled towards the duo, with an evil grin on his face. “You know John, I think you need to lighten up a bit.” Alex said as he sat in front of them. “You just need to see yourself from our point of view.” Alexander pulled John’s blue shirt up to reveal his toned stomach. “Wow! You’ve been working hard, you’re looking great.”
John hid his head in Hercules’ arms, “Alex you’re embarrassing me.”
“Well I don’t want you to feel down upon yourself! Let’s get our old happy John back! Shall we, Laf?”
Alexander then rested his fingers on John’s stomach.
John yelped and squirmed in Hercules’ grip. “You wouldn’t fucking dare.”
“Yes we fucking would.” Lafayette responded as he gave John’s knee a squeeze.
The two got to work on John. Alexander spidered his fingers all over John’s stomach and sides, while Laf squeezed his knees and thighs.
John felt giggles bubbling up inside of him. “C..come on guys! You d-don’t have to d-do this!”
“But we do!” Alex responded as he changed his attack. He began to squeeze at John’s sides and stomach.
“S-sohohon of a bihihitch!” John whispered as he started giggling.
“That’s the sound we’re looking for!” Lafayette chimed as he straddled John’s legs.
Hercules pinned John’s wrists to the floor with one arm. “Sorry buddy, but it’s for your own good.” He said as he spidered his fingers into John’s clothed underarms.
The man thrashed under all of his friends’ attacks. “Nohohoho! Stahahahap ihihit!” He could only lay on Lafayette’s hard floor and endure his torment.
“Ooh Laf! You thinking what I’m thinking?” Alexander said as he let up his attack.
“Right ahead of you mon ami.” Lafayette responded as he slowly took off John’s boots.
Hercules was still enjoying his time working on John’s underarms. “N-n-nohohoho! Lahahahahaf! Plehehehehahahse dohohohohnt!”
“Sorry John! It’s for your benefit!” Laf chimed in response as he took off both of John’s boots.
Hercules let up his attack, “this should be fun.” He said with a chuckle. He held down both of John’s arms in preparation.
“WAIHAHAIT! PLEAHAHAHAEHESE!” John cried as Laf brought a finger towards his most ticklish spot.
“Such a beautiful sound, John! I think we should hear more!” Alexander said while straddling John’s hips, “ready, Herc? Laf?”
Hercules nodded and the men assaulted their spots. Herc worked his fingers around John’s underarms, Alexander drilled his thumbs into John’s hips, Laf masterfully assaulted John’s socked feet.
John yelled in protest as his friends’ attacks were almost overwhelming. “GAHAHAHA- OH GOHOHOHOD PLEEHEHEHEAHAHSE STAHAHAHAP!” He pounded his fist into the hard floor beneath him.
“ ‘ey! be careful with my floor! Don’t you dare brea-“ there was a knock at the door. “Come in!” Laf chimed happily. The three men stopped their attacks, expect for Alex who would sneak a few squeezes to John’s stomach.
The door opened and standing in the doorway was an intrigued Aaron Burr. “What in the hell are you three-“ John yelped as Alex poked him again, “four doing?”
“John is sad. He needed a laugh.” Alexander said giving John’s side a firm squeeze.
“Burr! Buhuhurr you gohohot to hehelp me.” John said panting
“Well I was going to come to talk about the ball but... hey. No reason to wait for it.” Aaron rolled his sleeves up and positioned himself at John’s side.
“Im doomed.” John said with his voice an octave higher.
Lafayette took his opportunity to peel off John’s socks. “Burr ‘es a screamer. Prepare yourself.”
Aaron chuckled and hovered his hands teasingly over John’s stomach.
Giggles poured out of him and he writhed about to get away from Burr’s torturous hands.
“Im not even touching you! What’s so funny?” Aaron after fake offended.
“Where’d you learn to tease like that?” Alex said with a chuckle.
“Only the best.” He nudged Alex’s shoulder.
“One.” Hercules spoke up suddenly.
“Two.” Aaron said as he positioned his fingers above John’s writhing figure.
“THREE!” They all yelled. John said his prayers in his head as he knew he was about to be wrecked.
Lafayette held back John’s toes and began to rake his fingers up and down the poor man’s most ticklish spot. Aaron squeezed at John’s stomach, Alex drilled into the man’s hip bones and Hercules was content at his underarms.
John cried out in agony as his attackers overwhelmed him.
“OHOHOHO MAHAHAHY GOHOHOHOD FUHUHUHUCK!” He screamed.
“Yo! There’s no fucking cursing in my ‘ouse!” Lafayette barked as he stared to spider his fingers along The ball of John’s feet.
Tears of mirth formed in John’s eyes as he could only sit and endure his torment. His laughter flowed out of him. His eyes were tightly squeezed shut and his whole body was shaking.
Hercules gently put his knees on John’s wrists. Careful as to not hurt him, and pulled John’s shirt over his head. He then began to spider his fingers along the sides of John’s arms, up into his underarms and all over his chest.
John smacked Hercules lightly in the back, but gave up and endured the hell he was facing.
Aaron stopped his attack, audibly apologized to all his friends for what he was about to do, and prepared his next assault. “Watch this.” He yelled over John’s thick laughter. Everyone’s attack stopped and John took this time to breathe. “I learned this from a friend of mine.” Burr said while bringing him head down towards John’s stomach. He put his lips together a blew a fat raspberry into John’s stomach.
“BUHUHURR- AHHH! AHH MAHAHAHAHA GAHAHAHAD! DOHOHOHONT!”
The trio took this as their final stretch before John would be too tired. They all increased their attack tenfold and watched John move into hysterics.
“MER- MERHEHEHEHCYHYHY! I CAHAHAHAHANT TAHAHAHKE IHIHIT AHAHAHNYMOHOHOHOREHEHE! AH GAHAHAHAHAD PLEHEHEHEHEAHAHASE! STAHAHAP!”
Everyone stopped immediately and got off of John. Alex gave one last poke to John’s sensitive stomach. The man yelped and curled into a ball.
“Nohoho... nohoho mohohore.” He said in soft laughter as he felt a pair of hands on his body.
Lafayette picked up John like a baby and put him on the couch.
The three other men chatted with Lafayette as they let John rest. Nearly an hour into their chat, Alex spoke up.
“I think he feels much better now.” Alex brought up quietly.
“Agreed.” Hercules responded
“What was he upset about in the first place?” Aaron inquired.
“I don’t know.” Lafayette lied, “maybe ‘e was upset that ‘e didn’t bring ‘ome a date.”
John sighed in relief from his spot on the couch. “Thanks Laf.”
Hercules and Alex looked back at John, who was still smiling.
“Well.” Aaron said as he stood up from his chair, “I best be going”
Just as Burr went to open the door, the sky opened up and it was pouring outside.
“Since you cant go anymore.” John spoke up, “C..can you um... c..can you do that again?” He said with a flushed face as he looked to the floor.
Burr smiled evilly and sighed. “John Laurens, are you trying to tell me that you enjoyed us completely wrecking you? And now you want us to do exactly that once again?”
John tried to stutter out a response
“I wouldn’t be opposed.” Aaron interrupted, “gentlemen?”
The quad smiled evilly and charged at John, then they soon had him on the floor in the same position.
John’s sweet laughter was heard echoing for hours again.

Say ‘Haha’ To This
Ok so the start is super weird but I swear this is pure fluff and no Hamiria, just Hamiliza. You’ll have to wait and see.....
Also, this is my second ‘Alternate song ending’ fic.
Also also, you can check out my masterpost which is on my profile page.
Also also also, please enjoy (;
“I know you are a man of honour, I’m so sorry to bother you at home. But I don’t know where to go, and I came here all alone”.
The lady had a sad look in her eyes, and a red flowing dress that scattered at her shoes. She was shorter than him, very short, like a lost kid asking people if they’d seen his parents.
“My husbands doing me wrong, he’s beating me, cheating me, mistreating me! Suddenly has up and gone, I don’t have the means to go on”.
Poor thing.
Hamilton’s heart ached from her sorrow. He couldn’t help but offer her a loan and a walk home. She smiled softly, “Your too kind, sir”. There was something oddly familiar about that smile, but he just decided to gloss over it.
He walked her to her house, which was cottage-sized and a block away from his. The poor lady, having been trapped so long in such a small space with such a husband. “This one’s mine, sir”, she said weakly, stepping through her front gates and offering that he follow.
He followed her without question, and she led him to her front door, down a short corridor and into a small room with a double bed. She slowly sat on the bed, and grinned up at him. Wait, did she think? No. There was no way.
“Well, I should head back home”, he said sheepishly.
The lady softly tilted her head down, shook her head and slowly widened her legs, “Stay”.
“Hey”
“Hey”
Oh, the poor lady. Expecting contact from a stranger. He slowly sat down beside her, “I am so sorry, but I must say no to this. I will see what I can do to get you out of your situation”.
And than, the lady smiled. Smiled. She began unzipping her dress and fiddling with her hair and wiping the heavy makeup from her face.
“Wait, no, I said-”
Without the ladies makeup, her face was younger. Beneath red dress was a tight yellow one. Now he recognised her.
“Peggy? What the-”
“Surprise!”, came the voice of Hamilton’s own wife, Eliza, as she stepped into the room and flung her arms around his neck.
“What the-”
“It was a test!”, Eliza remarked, “It was a prank!  And you past Alexander, you truly are a loyal husband!”. She softly pecked his lips before departing.
“Good job Peggy!”, Angelica remarked as she gave her younger sister a high five. Hamilton, for once, was lost for words, “I-I thought you girls were upstate with Philip”. “Nope!”, Eliza said joyfully, “We planned this”.
“But who’s house is this?”
“Peggy’s”
“Wait, you, tricked me?”, Hamilton said, hardly believing what was going on.
“Yup!”, Eliza exclaimed, giving her husband another kiss.
“But, why? Do you.....do you not trust me?”
“No!”, Eliza remarked, “Of course not, Alexander! We just thought it would be funny to see your reaction!”
“And it is”, Angelica remarked. Again, Hamilton was lost for words. Angelica gently shook his hand, “That was so kind of you, Alexander. To give that money. Eliza definitely has a good taste in men!” Eliza just nodded enthusiastically and kissed him yet again, “You are so sweet, Alexander. And kind, and giving, and loyal. I love you so much”.
Suddenly, it snapped. Hamilton’s wife and sister-in laws had just played a joke on him! A smile spread across his face.
“Wow, you really had me”.
Peggy whistled softly, “I’m a good actress, aren’t I?”
Hamilton nodded, “Very much so. Yet perhaps, you should use those talents for something more productive than tricking your brother in law!”. He nudged her side playfully. Peggy squeaked and jumped back. “Oho!”, Hamilton remarked, “Looks like someone’s ticklish!” Eliza giggled, “Not as much as you, Alexander!”
Hamilton blushed. “Wait, Alexander, I didn’t know you were ticklish”, Angelica stated, a tiny smirk on her face. “Oh, Alexander is horribly ticklish! He’s worse than Peggy!”, Eliza exclaimed. “Worse than Peggy? I didn’t even know that was possible!”, Angelica said, turning to Hamilton, her smirk grown ever so slightly.
Hamilton blushed further, fiddling shyly with a string on his shirt. Peggy stood up from the bed, leaning over to poke Hamilton the same place she’d nudged him. He jumped back with a squeal, the finger not even making contact.
“Wow!”, Peggy remarked, giggling, “I didn’t even touch you! Eliza’s right, you are more ticklish than me!” Without a moments hesitation, the youngest Schuyler sister pushed Hamilton onto her bed, and clawed her finger into his stomach. Hamilton shrieked, before dissolving in laughter.
“Nohahahahaha!”, he cried, Peggy putting an elbow to his legs, preventing him from kicking her, “Stohohohp!”
To Eliza, the situation was familiar. However, this was the first time that Angelica had seen Alexander in this state: head tossed back, cheeks flushed, laughing like crazy, just from fingers at his stomach. She found the situation rather amusing.
“Eliza help!”, he cried out desperately between his laughter.
Eliza smirked, “If you say so, my dearest”. She wiggled her fingers up and down his sides.
“Nohoho!”, he laughed, “Dohohon’thehelp heher! Traitor!”
“I’m so sorry Alexander” Eliza chuckled, “But sisters before misters”
Hamilton’s laughter boomed around the room, well, boomed isn’t quite the word. His laughter was very high, like a girls laughter, but Eliza loved it all the same. In fact, she believed it made him even more cute.
“How interesting”, Angelica commented from the other side of the room.
Eliza rolled her eyes as she moved on to her husband’s ribs, causing him to snort before resuming his laughing fit. “Oh come on sis, tickling is not a spectator sport”
Angelica couldn’t stop her smile now, she just shook her head. What was she getting herself into? She leaned down and started squeezing Hamilton’s knee.
“No! HAHAHAHAHA ANGELICAHAHAHA!”.
Eliza smirked, “Eliza!”. She dug her fingers under his arms.
Peggy giggled, “And Peggy!”
“The Schuyler sisters!”, the three chorused, playfully wrecking the man beneath them.
This went on for quite some time, all four of them enjoying every second of it. They didn’t want to kill him though, so eventually, they let him breathe.
He panted, cheeks flushed, hair messy and an ear to ear grin plastered on his face. “Tha-hat was so mean”, he chuckled, sitting up. Eliza nudged Peggy cheekily, “Get her back first, she started it!” “And she’s the most ticklish”, Angelica added. “Heyyyyyy” Peggy whined, stepping away from the others cautiously.
“Oh”, Hamilton said, “It’s on”
Hehehe thanks for reading! Please like if you enjoyed it would mean a lot to me!

HAMILTON ON DISNEY+
Tumblr media
BEWARE: SPOILERS AHEAD FOR HAMILTON ON DISNEY+
Hi everyone! I’m back with a very exciting post that I thought I would not be writing for a very long time. My review of the filmed Hamilton Production on Broadway with the OBC!! After the unexpected announcement that the Hamilton film would find it’s home on Disney+ instead of being released in theaters in 2021, I was ecstatic. I could not believe it! I have been listening to the album with the OBC for years now. I never get tired of it, it always puts a smile on my face and the occasional comfort whenever I need it. I have watched Hamilton four times now and I just love it so much. So let’s go...
Overall reaction
Even after watching four times now, my reaction is still the same. I truly believe that it is a brilliant masterpiece. That is high praise for sure, but Hamilton deserves it. I will never forget experiencing it for the first time on July 3rd. I was blown away and could not take my eyes off the screen. It was exhilarating to finally see this, after listening to it for years. It is the little details that you do not get to experience when listening to the album that I loved the most. So overall, I was blown away by it and exceeded all of my expectations.
Film
I have never seen a filmed stage musical, so I do not have a reference. However, I thought this was beautifully filmed. It showed the whole stage when it was needed and zoomed in on the actors when necessary. It was an intimate experience. You get the best seat in the house, so to speak.
Cast
I already knew the cast was phenomenal due to listening to the cast album. Seeing them perform all the songs was even better than I expected! Here is an itemized list (hehe) of all the cast members, because they all deserve a chance to shine! Special shout-out to all the ensemble members, without them the show would just not be complete!
Lin-Manuel Miranda as Alexander Hamilton Favorite performance: Hurricane (so beautifully staged!!)
The man, the myth, the legend! I am a huge fan of Lin and his work (even beyond Hamilton)! I thought his Hamilton was great and very funny at times. The emotion in his performance was really good! Lin wrote this whole thing!! It all came from his mind, which is incredible in and of itself.
Phillipa Soo as Eliza Hamilton Favorite performance: Burn (iconic)
Phillipa is so talented. She has an amazing voice and pair that with her amazing performance and it is practically perfect. Her acting and singing during the final song, Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story, was so emotional. It had me crying all the three times I have seen it.
Leslie Odom Jr. as Aaron Burr Favorite performance: Wait For It (this is one of the songs that made me a Hamilton fan)
Leslie Odom Jr. is one of the most talented people ever. He is so amazing on that stage. Everybody always said that The Room Where It Happens is a true masterpiece and I always liked the song, but it was not my favorite. Seeing Leslie and the Ensemble cast perform it, WOW! Incredible. Leslie is the perfect Burr and had me crying and laughing many times.
Renée Elise Goldsberry as Angelica Schuyler Favorite performance: Satisfied (what else?!)
I always found Renée’s voice so damn powerful in Satisfied, which made me love the song more. Seeing Satisfied performed was magical and I will never get over how amazing that song is and how perfect Renée performs it. She is a true powerhouse whenever she shows up and confirmed that Angelica is one of my favorites in the show.
Daveed Diggs as Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson Favorite performance: What’d I Miss (this was hard)
Daveed Diggs. Daveed Diggs. Daveed Diggs. Oh my gosh, he was even more perfect than I thought. Daveed is one of the cast members everyone always raved about and now I know why! If I had to describe his performance, I would say it is electric. He just immediately captures your attention. For both Lafayette and Jefferson!
Christopher Jackson as George Washington Favorite performance: One Last Time (this was so powerful)
The first time Chris emerges on the stage as Washington, you are just immediately drawn to him (at least I was haha). He just has a very powerful presence. Especially in Right Hand Man, his entrance is EVERYTHING! History Has Its Eyes On You has always been one of my favorites on the soundtrack and it was even better seeing it. However, his moment is One Last Time. It is truly a defining moment of the entire show.
Okieriete “Oak” Onaodowan as Hercules Mulligan/James Madison Favorite performance: Yorktown (his part is so good)
Oak has some fantastic moments in the show! His Hercules Mulligan is so great and full of energy. As I said, his part in Yorktown gets me so hyped! I loved James Madison’s parts with Jefferson, they had awesome energy together. Another fave Madison line is in The Election of 1800. The first line is Jefferson saying if they can get back to Politics since a lot of drama and sad stuff happened in the past few songs and Madison is like uhh, please with a soft voice because he has been crying. So funny and relatable!
Anthony Ramos as John Laurens/Philip Hamilton Favorite Performance: Blow Us All Away (funny in the beginning and ends so sadly)
I enjoyed Anthony Ramos’ performance quite a bit! He was great in conveying emotions as both Laurens and Phillip, with both roles having quite emotional endings. I was shocked to find out there was a part just before Non-Stop that showed Hamilton learning about Laurens’ death, that was so sad and Anthony Ramos did it so beautifully. I was very impressed by him and I cannot wait to see him in In The Heights!
Jasmine Cephas Jones as Peggy Schuyler/Maria Reynolds Favorite performance: Say No To This (her vocals are so great here)
Peggy and Maria might not be the biggest roles in the show but Jasmine slays in both of them! Especially as Maria, her vocals in Say No To This are even better than on the cast album. She was amazing!
Jonathan Groff as King George III Favorite performance: I Know Him (Jonathan’s performance makes this song work so well)
Jonathan was funny on the album but when you see the performance with it, it just completes it! He was phenomenal, and I loved that he showed up during some other songs as well, for example in The Reynolds Pamphlet, absolutely hilarious! I also enjoyed his little announcement at the beginning, where he said Enjoy MY show, that was a neat thing to include here!
Favorite Musical Numbers
Okay, so these are all my favorite performance, taking into consideration the song itself, staging, choreography, and production. I love how seeing the show made me love songs that were not my favorites before! So here they are in a non-particular order:
My Shot
So powerful, I think I almost jumped off the couch at the end because I was so hyped!
The Schuyler Sister
Even better than I thought it would be! From the use of the rotating stage, the performances, and choreography.
Farmer Refuted
This was the one song I always skipped on the album, however, seeing it here makes me lol every time! It’s great.
You’ll Be Back, What Comes Next?, and I Know Him
Give me all the King George content, soooo funny, I just love these moments in the show!
Helpless and Satisfied
Satisfied is still my favorite of the two, however it was breathtaking seeing how well the two are connected. Especially Satisfied, first the toast, then rewinding to see Helpless from Angelica’s perspective, and lastly coming back to the toast. I just thought it was stunning to see! The staging here is phenomenal.
Wait For It
The song that made me love Hamilton. Seeing Leslie performing it, made me love it, even more. He is so talented and amazing here. I had goosebumps. Even though the staging and production for this number are simple, it just makes it even better because you can just focus on Burr!
Yorktown (The World Turned Upside Down)
Every time I watch it and Yorktown ends, I always shake my head in awe. It such a powerful moment in the show and it just makes me very hyped (especially Mulligan’s part). SO good.
Non-Stop
I know I keep talking about how great the staging is, but I feel like the staging from Satisfied, Non-Stop, and another one is the best ones in the show. The ending of Non-Stop on the stage with all the characters standing above Hamilton, stairs being moved from one side to the other all so seamlessly... *chef’s kiss*
Cabinet Battle #1 and #2
The energy between Hamilton and Jefferson here is so good, and I love they look into the audience and make them a part of it. Lin and Daveed just nail these songs!
The Room Where It Happens
Two things: LESLIE and THE CHOREOGRAPHY. That is all.
Washington On Your Side
I just really started loving this song after seeing the show. I also loved the beginning of the song where Burr joins Jefferson on stage, starts singing and Jefferson is just standing there confused thinking: “Where did you come from all of a sudden?” This is Chris’ moment in the show, he just conveys so much emotion in every line.
One Last Time
This is Chris’ moment in the show, he just conveys so much emotion in every line.
Hurricane
I just love this song and the use of the rotating stage here is excellent, same goes for the lighting.
The World Was Wide Enough
Seeing this for the first time was so emotional, the part where only Lin is singing and you onlyhear his voice... Pfff, amazing! Also how Leslie ends the song, WOW!
Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story
The way I sobbed during this... I just thought it was a beautiful ending for the show itself.
Okay, that was a long one! But I love talking about Hamilton and if you read the whole post, I guess you like reading about it! Thank you so much for reading and I hope you enjoyed it! What were your favorite moments from the show?
Have a festive day and stay safe!

Date? [Maverick (Erik Thorn) x Reader]
(Hi! A little A/N before the story! I know the Rainbow fan population here is short, but I do take requests! I will write for any operator! I will do all and any request, for the prompt list, please put the genre (Misc, angst, fluff) as a letter (M,A,F) and the number)
Pairing: Maverick (Erick Thorn) x Reader
Warnings: SMUT, it’s my first, pls be gentle, cursing
Genre/Word Count: Fluff/Smut/2.1k
You and Erik were an amazing combination. Almost as good as fuel, metal oxide, metal powder, and a little C4. Now, this week you were occupied with an important upcoming assignment. For the past couple of days, you were very unsocial. You were in and out of meetings each day, and practically had no time to hang out with your favorite operator.
And Erik had begun to miss you, each day he tried to talk to you, you had to rush to meet up again with your team for the mission briefing. Even at meal times, you could only stay for a couple of minutes. So, he decided to kill two birds with one stone. His plan was to clear your schedule for the day before you departed, and take you to a nice dinner. He wanted you to de-stress and have fun. And he wanted to finally ask you out.
He discovered his crush for you, after the first time you had saved his life. It touched his heart having someone care so much about him. He started to get to know you as you recovered in the medical bay. Ever since then, his affection for you had grown.
He got his plan approved by the leader of your mission. He was actually glad that Erik had asked, as he too noticed how stressed out you were. Now it was time for the hard part. Actually asking you out for dinner. Should he just casually ask? Or should he make it special? Would you even say yes? These questions ran through his head as he built up the courage to even knock on your door.
Just as he raised his fist, you opened the door. You stepped back, staring at his balled up hand. "Uhhh… I mean I'm ready for a friendly fight any day Erik, but right now is not the best time. Excuse me." You were heading to meet with Eliza, who was accompanying you on the long trip.
"Oh wait-No! I wasn't gonna hit you! I'm so sorry!"
You chuckled, "I know Erik, I was just joking."
"Yeah...right, so, um I wanted to know if…"
Preoccupied with the documents in your hands, you squinted at the several errors. Damnit. That meant more time in with Eliza. But thankfully, you had tomorrow off, for some reason. The leader of the assignment had allowed you to have a free day tomorrow, saying a pleasant surprise would be awaiting you. You didn't know what he was referring to, but at this point you were just excited to have a free day.
You fumbled with the rest of the papers, 'Who wrote these? A blind turtle?' Erick continued to stutter and blush as your face contorted into goofy, exasperated faces. This paperwork was maybe the worst you’ve ever seen! Your head snapped up, realizing your head had only grasped a few words from Erik’s talk. He was watching you with nervous eyes, awaiting your response. Your eyes widened. ‘Did he ask a yes or no question? Is he waiting for me to make a joke? WHAT DO I DO?’
“Haha, yeah buddy!”
“Oh! Thank god, I thought you would say no! Okay, wanna meet outside your favorite restaurant around 8 P.M tomorrow?”
“Of course!”
He gave you a smile and gave you a goodbye hug as you reached Eliza’s office. You hugged back and gave a short goodbye. You knocked on her door the moment he was out of sight. Eliza poked her head out, “Did Erik just leave?”
“Yeah, I feel so bad! I think he invited me out to a group dinner, I wasn’t paying attention at all!”
“Aww, he’s sweet. Now come here, I need to show you a picture of Jordan sleeping in a pile of his own puke!”
-
The following day passed rather quickly, at 7, you had already showered and done your hair. As you looked through your closet, you wore some simple light blue jeans and a tight hugging shirt. You were satisfied with your outfit choice. For the remainder of the time you just sat on your bed, scrolling through Twitter.
On the other side of the base, Erik had panicked at the lack of more formal fitting clothes. He had, what? Maybe like 2 shirts that weren’t wrinkly? He had resorted to asking Marius for a nice, black, button-up shirt. It fit him pretty well, and went nicely with the rest of his outfit.
When 8 rolled around, Erik had already reserved a table for the both of you, and was waiting outside. When you showed up, he was… rather surprised at your choice of clothing. Maybe you weren’t taking this as seriously as he was? Was he just a tad bit too nervous? But the nerves washed away as you shone a bright smile to him. In the moment, he was happy you showed up.
You both were seated and after a couple of minutes, he asked if you were ready to pick your food. “But shouldn’t we wait for the others?” Oh, the dear sweet innocent smile on your face was so different from Eriks confused face.
“I’m… I’m sorry, who?”
“The others. I’m really sorry, but yesterday I was a bit distracted… Is this not a group outing?”
“No. I asked you-”
“Wait, are we on a date right now???”
Erik practically felt his soul get crushed.
“Wait no, that came out wrong okay let me try again. Erik, I am so sorry. I should’ve paid more attention. I’d love to go on a date with you! Well I mean we are right now, so, I love this date!”
Erik chuckled, “Y’know, I’m starting to regret asking you out.”
“Take that back, or this fork will go somewhere the sun don't shine!”
The next thing Erik whispered had caused you to spit out your food, and make blood rush to your face. “Oh, I got something I’m gonna stick where the sun don’t shine.”
“Erik! Pervert!”
The both of you spent the rest of the night laughing and talking away. By 10, you suggested you should both head back, as you had to wake up early tomorrow to leave for the mission. He escorted you to your room when you both reached the base.
"Thank you for tonight Erik, and I'm sorry I wasn't paying attention."
"Hey, don't worry about it. I know you were stressed."
You bit your lip as the intensity in Erik's eyes grew. He lifted his hand and cupped your cheek. He stooped down, pressing his lips firmly against yours. After the shock faded, you began to kiss back. Your lips missed his the moment he had pulled away.
“Well, I guess I should head to my room, I can’t be keeping you awake for too long.” He gave you a long embrace and started walking away. As he turned the corner, he could hear the sound of your shoes tapping against the cold tiles.
He whipped around the moment you pressed your lips against him again. Oh boy. Tonight would last a little longer than expected. He picked you up, grabbing your thighs and began to kiss you with more hunger. Without dropping you, he walked back to your room. He kicked the door closed when he was in.
He tossed you down on the bed, unbuttoning his shirt as he stared you down.  You moved yourself to sit at the edge of the bed, facing him as you reached up to unbuckle his jeans. But before you could pull them down, he gripped down tightly on your wrists,
"Tonight is about you, you have to relax." You nodded slowly. He pushed you back down, climbing on top. He began kissing your lips, travelling down to your neck as his kisses became sloppier.
He tugged at the bottom of your shirt. You arched your back to help him remove the tight article of clothing. His sloppy kisses became nips and bites, which would leave marks that littered your neck and chest the following day. He took off your bra with ease, sucking and biting on your left breast. After a minute he trailed down, stopping just above where your jeans touched your skin.
"Y/N, are you sure you wanna continue? What if you're late tomorrow?"
"Erik, you're amazing and super caring but if you don't put your mouth on me right now, I swear-"
"What, what are you gonna do, huh?" His demeanor had changed, an evil smirk danced across his face. The look in his eye was anything but innocent. He unbuttoned your jeans, yanking them down forcefully. You gasped as the cold air touched your now exposed parts. He ran his hands up your thighs. With a simple tug he managed to spread open your legs.
The following moments were pure euphoria. He skillfully ran his tongue through your wet slit. You cried out and tangled your hands into his dirty blond hair. The more arousal that leaked from you, he happily cleaned up with his tongue.
Your hips jerked upwards, accompanied by growing moans. Erik moved back, biting down on your thigh as you attempted to calm down.
“Erik… please…” Your eyes were filled with lust for the man that towered over you.
He placed one hand down on your stomach. The other hand had travelled to your wet core. He started off with one finger, pushing into you gently and allowing you to adjust. His second finger followed shortly after. You dug your nails into his tattooed arm, letting out soft moans and gasps.
You’re overwhelmed with pleasure, a thin sheet of sweat was covering you. Your moans grew louder and more frequent. You could begin to feel yourself come undone. You reached up for his shoulder, pulling him down for a messy kiss as you came on his fingers. You pulled back with a loud gasp. He chuckled at your red, flustered face.
“Are you ready?”
You gave a cute weak nod. He removed the rest of his clothing, stroking himself for a second before guiding himself at your entrance. He pushed in rather slowly, letting you adjust to his size before quickening his pace.
After a while, a sheen of sweat coated his body too. He leaned down, keeping a steady pace as he went back to biting and pulling at your skin.
“E-Erik,” Your pleased moans encouraged him to move even faster. You were quickly muffled by Erik pushing his lips against your mouth, drinking you in. Your hands found their way to his back, dragging against his skin. You left bright red streaks, so immersed that you didn’t notice the minor damage you caused.
He grunted out your name over and over again as he pulled away from your lips. Compliments spilled from his mouth, telling you how pretty you looked under him. He pushed away the stray hairs that stuck to your face and caressed your cheek, chuckling at the sensual expression that coated your face.
“I-I’m gonna…” You could barely form a sentence as his thrusts became sloppier and less frequent.
“Me too…Fuck you feel so good.”
Your moans melted together, his eyes seemed distant, absolutely loving how warm and tight you felt around him. To him, you were perfect. He felt lucky to be able to expose you. He loved how easily you submitted to him.
He once again moved down, this time kissing at the valley between your breasts and moved up, stopping at your lips. His tongue pushed past, tangling with yours. He could feel your walls tightening up against him. He knew you were about to finish. He was close too.
As you came around his cock, you cried out his name as if it was the only word you knew. He followed shortly after you, coating your insides with his cum.
He pulled out slowly, collapsing beside you. The both of you were breathing heavily, enjoying the last couple seconds of euphoria. He tangled his hand with yours after he caught his breath, “That was the best night of my life.”
You were hardcore blushing. The realization of your nakedness had you wanting to wrap up in the blankets, “Y-Yeah, thanks for the date and… that.”
He chuckled at your shyness. He turned his head to the side, watching as your face grew brighter than a Christmas light.
“You’re adorable, Y/N.”
“Shut up!”
He turned to face the clock on your bedside table. An hour had blown by, he cursed at himself for keeping you up so late. He turned back over to see your eyes drooping significantly. He laughed lightly at your sleepy form. He pressed a kiss against your forehead before curling up with you.
The next day, you were rushing late to the helicopter that would take you to your mission. Eliza was waiting outside with her arms crossed. Your marked up neck had left enough for the imagination.
“So I’m guessing it wasn’t a group outing?”
A light tinge of red coated your cheeks as you pulled yourself up into the helicopter. “Uh-No it definitely was not.”

Note
hi ☺ I just read your answer about the movie and as someone who saw the movie first it's probably a little different from who read it first. Like some said that it felt rushed and confusing but I don't think it felt. Actually I thought the story was very clear and easy to understand (and the narrator helped a lot). I think for a 2 hour long movie with many characters, everyone got a good screen time. And I liked how they connected all the plots with the main one in a very cohesive way. (1/4)
⚠️ SPOILERS ⚠️
(2/4) I don't have any knowledge on cinematography but so I can say much but from my personal point of view I really liked the visuals, the colors and scenery. Also the movie got me glued on my tv that I didn't even saw the time passing by. And I really liked the acting. Tom and Robert were amazing but I'm kinda biased haha but it was the first movie I ever saw of Bill and it was such a great surprise! Also was curious to see Eliza cause I like her since sharp objects and she was really good too.
(3/4) I would like to know more about Sandy's storyline and I'll definitely read the book to know more but I liked how hers and Carl story were told. Roy and Ellen [sic]... I definitely wasn't expecting that haha! That was short but intense overall. Lenora's plot I was expecting part of it because of the trailer but not what happened completely and wow.. intense again. I imagine it's even more heartbreaking in the book considering the details that might have there.
(4/4) From my zero understanding in cinema, I gave 5/5 because it really intrigued and entertained me. It was very intense and it got me curious to see what would be Arvin's next step everytime he did something. Definitely will read to book to know what they couldn't put into the movie! And a random consideration: it was a little weird to see Eliza being good and naive after watching her in sharp objects haha. Sorry for this ginormous text that I sent you, got a little carried away 🙈
--
hey there! first, no need to apologize. we appreciate a good, long review as much as we appreciate the movie itself :) thank you for sharing!
everything moves fast in the beginning, it drags a little around certain characters, and a few details are thrown into the mix with little to no explanation, so it’s surprising -yet satisfying- to hear that the story flowed well and wasn’t confusing for you. i’m glad it worked for you! (for example, i watched it with another friend who said it was confusing and if i hadn’t been there and filled in some of the blanks, she’d have been lost.)
i agree with you for the most part. the more i think about it and read reviews about it, the more i realize certain aspects that can go over one’s head when one’s watching it for the first time. which helps me understand that there are more layers to this film than you perceive at first. i know of at least one Q&A with the producers and the director next week, hopefully we’ll get a glimpse of what they say because it will be very interesting to hear their pov.
if you’re going to read the book, you’ll see that it will only add to this experience! if you enjoyed it like this, reading everything will be a proper rollercoaster of emotions :D feel free to come by my askbox when you’re finished!
thank you again for sharing your experience with me!!! 💙
