_It's the 2010's, and you're the fashion director of the rising K-Pop group 'NCT DREAM'. Not only that though, because with time you took a special liking to one of the members, Jaemin, just like he did to you! Good for you guys, wish you the best really._

"So?"

"Hmm…."

Jaemin let out a sigh as he turned around to leave the sword on his set, to which you only giggled. It was the third and last day of filming for the Smoothie music video, and it was certainly not any less exhausting than the first day! You were checking for every member's looks in between takes. As part of the creative team, you made it your mission to exude the exact aesthetic you previously discussed with your coworkers and the artists.

Ah yes, the artists. Just now you were fixing Jaemin's hair after his 'fruit fighting' scenes. The CGI was yet to be there for Jaemin to actually cut through anything, but his movements on each take made him look as a true swordsman.

A very peculiar, fashion-student-looking, rosy makeup styled swordsman but one nonetheless! And his hair, don't even mention it. White as snow, complimented him so well. Just now he was trying to convince you of letting his hair fall all over his face instead of the slicked back style you were fixing from the previous scenes. Arguing that "One does not go around fighting on a slick back", and just explaining to him that "It's the whole point of an MV with a production like this one!".

He gave up on his stylistic choices, for now. You are certain that when night comes, both cuddled up in bed, he's gonna take advantage of your sleepy state and coarse you into changing your design choices. But oh, it's only 9:18 a.m, there's plenty time left for him to chase you all around set, like a lost puppy, voicing his opinions about YOUR job. How dare he!

"Would you drink this?"

A couple hours later you found yourself preparing the Dreamies for the last takes of production. As you were fixing his jacket, he was inspecting his cup of black smoothie, mixing it and smelling it with a confused look. "I don't think you guys are supposed to drink it though?" You answer, eyes still fixed on his jacket. He looks at you and leaves the cup to the side, adding almost in a whisper. "I'm not asking you that princess. I'm asking if YOU would drink it"

!!! You gasp and tug on his jacket for him to be more quiet, but he only chuckles. "Na Jaemin we're still on set…" You let go of him and look at the cup, "But it's probably grape juice or something". Jaemin lets out a whine and you can't help but smile at him sheepishly, he takes a quick glance at the rest of the staff, all of them busy with their tasks, to look back at you and cup your face in his hands. "I just can't believe my angel would let me drink suspicious substances! Do you not care for me anymooooore?!"

You cover your mouth to avoid giggling and having others watching, while you slightly push him away, "Oh my gosh, it's not poison! You're ready to go, get in position and you'll be all done. I guarantee you nothing bad's gonna happen".

He gladly lets you manhandle him into the set with the rest of the guys to film their last scene. You stayed in the corner with your coworkers, watching the recording, looking at your man specifically. All that for them to not even drink it…

Everyone was already picking up their stuff, cleaning the sets and all of it's props. Except for you and 6 other people running behind the idols. You caught up to Jaemin before he could start changing to comfier clothes, grabbing his arm and putting his Blackberry in his hand. He turned around and looked at you confused.

"The selfies, silly. Have to snap some pictures."

"Ohh, yeah, that." He smiled and walked with you to a place with good lighting. As he was taking the pictures, trying different angles, he was chatting to you.

"I still find this kind of silly."

"Hm? What do you mean?"

"This… photocard thing. I don't know what marketing strategy is this, really. Like just check our socials if you want our photos!"

You shake your head at his reasoning. "I think it's a good move. Girl's Generation did it on their latest record and it seemed like people loved it. It's like collectable goodies!". Jaemin put his phone down while checking the pictures, "Oh yeah? Well I hope you only collect MY goodies then. Even if other artists start doing it as well".

Before you could respond, he grabbed you by the waist and put his phone up, snapping some quick pictures of the both of you, kissing you on the cheek for the last one.

You all finished packing your things and started walking out of the set, asking him about his schedule. "So, how's your agenda for the rest of the week?"

"Hm, just promotions for music shows. Oh, and back to the hair salon"

"Really?! Already?"

"Apparently… we're doing the main issue of i-D magazine, and the hairstylists want us to look different. I'm surprised you didn't talk about this with them."

You thought back about your conversations while working on the designs for the Music Video. "No, they didn't… Sigh, I'll have to check what outfits to give you by then."

He just smiled at you, and you both continued your walk in a comfortable silence.

"Hm… I really liked your white hair Jaem…."

currently percolating an au idea in my brainicles, though i doubt I'm gonna do anything with it any time soon bc im a busy bitch lmao

the basic idea is persona 5 swap au, but instead of akechi/joker swap it's akechi/futaba swap. more details under the cut (also big huge thanks to my bud @lunagalemaster for enabling me <3)

so this actually spawned bc i have milgram project brainrot rn, and while listening to mu's first audio drama some things about persona 5 clicked. luna mentioned that wakaba being so caring towards futaba despite her being born out of wedlock is actually not the norm, and it's some pretty important cultural context we missed.

naturally, i made a joke that the real akechi foil was the futabas we found along the way...but actually it could work!

in this version, everything up to medjed is the same wrt palaces and such, but shadow madarame doesn't mention the black mask bc black mask doesn't exist. more on that later.

instead, he mentions a hacker that's been exposing and/or threatening people, doxxing them, etc. you guessed it, it's futaba.

she doesn't have leblanc bugged bc she doesn't live with sojiro, she lives with either her (less shitty) relatives or a random foster family, so she doesn't actually know who the pts are.....yet. mishima better hope his website security is beefy as hell, im just saying.

her whole plan is to dig up as much dirt on shido and the conspiracy as she can, then go to him in person, slap the information down on his desk, inform him she's his daughter and that she knows he killed her mom, and then basically blast all that shit all over twitter. she also has a deadman switch set up so that even if he kills her, the info still goes out.

of course, shido knows about her already, because genius or not she's still 15. he just doesn't care bc he thinks he's untouchable.

akechi, on the other hand, is sojiro's ward. he's not a shut-in due to anxiety, but more in a sense of "what's the point?"

he takes online courses, either highschool or college depending on if i wanna accelerate him a bit, so he doesn't see the point in leaving really. it's not like there's anything interesting outside, so why bother?

if you've ever seen either the mekakucity actors anime or the mv for lost time memory from kagerou project, you probably know exactly who im basing him on.

anyway he does have a palace, it's a void of foggy swamp with ruins scattered around, like futabas endless desert in canon. a charon-like figure drifts around the swamp in a little raft, and surprise! that's shadow akechi.

he's only got the one persona since he has no detective prince mask, and that's loki, though ill probably fuck around a bit personality wise. who knows, maybe his persona actually is charon lmao

luna said it adds a new dimension to the black mask/crow persona and i fully agree: depressed, directionless, passively suicidal akechi's first real full force emotion in YEARS? anger. like how futabas was determination and righteous justice, his is anger and spite at how society managed to convince him to drift through the life he fought so hard to have.

Moonlight Chicken Ep 1 & 2 Thoughts

Very long. Under the cut

-Day two of playing catch up and I learned there are TWO episodes of this show out right now so I guess I’m gonna liveblog both. Can’t wait until I can turn off the filter for this tag. 

-Not how I was expecting this show to start. This feels a little too real right now oof. 

-This man has given out so much money just in the first 3 minutes of the show. Is he actually financially stable enough to be doing that?

-What is this? Instalove? That phone is not on. That was just a black screen. That was a whole lot of staring for a first meeting. 

-I have thoughts on this opening but I do not know what they are. I can’t articulate it. Was this the MV they did? This song? I have many thoughts. 

-“I can get a better price for kidneys” what a weird thing to say. 

-Handing someone a can of beer has never before been so gay. 

-I should not be watching this while hungry. Where are my snacks?

-Eeeewww the vomit sounds. Ew. I am no longer hungry. Gross. 

-If you’re sober, don’t kiss him with your vomit mouth. Please dear god don’t kiss him with your vomit mouth. 

-Oh look at that. They fucked. 

-A CAT. Oh that cat LOVES him. I love this. Can this show just be Mix petting the cat? I think I might need to make a trip to my parent’s house soon just to see their cats.

-I like this chicken vendor lady. She’s my favorite character so far. 

-This show simultaneously has so much happening and not enough happening. 

-They keep calling him old. How old is Earth? How old is the character he’s playing? Earth is 29. I guess he must seem old to all of those young twenty-somethings. But how old is his character? I should learn these names. It will take me a few episodes though. 

-They both keep thinking about how good it was. This means it’s about to get messy. 

-He’s definitely gonna get stopped by the police at some point. 

-I’m not entirely sure what chicken rice is but it want it. 

-DEAF CHARACTER. Who is understandably annoyed and frustrated. 

-His name is Heart??? Oh that’s so cute. 

-How is this episode still going? I feel like I’ve been watching for three years. I mean I’m enjoying it but also this show is kind of dragging in the first episode while the plot is being set up. I’m betting I don’t think this in the later episodes. 

-Li has probably already treated Heart better than his parents just by saying that he’s using his deafness as an excuse and Li is actually seeing him as more of a person in that instance than Heart’s parents. That sounds bad the way I phrased it but I bet that Heart has been acting out since he became deaf and his parents just excuse everything he’s doing.

-And there’s the end of episode 1. I’m just gonna dive into episode 2. Actually I’m not. I’m gonna heat up some leftovers first I am hungry. 

-Pizza squired. Now it’s no chicken rice but it is pretty damn good. Now episode 2. I genuinely have no idea what’s going to happen. 

-Now what do I gotta do to get one of those aprons that says “hungry?” I need it. 

-I am not a fan of this opening. Why does it end on a photo montage? Also I have thoughts on this song. It’s fine but I don’t think it’s a good opening song.

-WHERE HAVE I SEEN HER BEFORE? Oh she was in many things. But I recognize her from 55:15. I never finished that show. But she was my favorite character. 

-Oh his nephew has a difficult relationship with him. Why is Jim raising him? What happened? Why does his nephew have an issue with Wen working there? I want these family dynamics and I want them now. 

-These two are doing an excellent enemies to lovers. They did excellent with pining. Now they’re doing excellent here. My favorites. 

-That apron also has a chicken in it. I need it. 

-Heart and Li own my soul. They’re adorable. I’m glad Heart apologized. 

-CAT. ITS BACK. It’s very obvious that both Earth and Mix know how to handle cats. 

-What’s with GMMTV and pregnancy lately? 

-To be fair, he bought those cigarettes before they knew she was pregnant. I’m not a fan of cigarettes but he definitely bought those before they knew of the pregnancy. 

-I want that fruit. I need it. I would like to be eating that fruit right now.

-Did that boy just say America is affordable???? Not my America that’s for sure. 

-Aw Heart has a a big ol crush on Li. I love them. 

-Well I could have guessed and I did but Heart’s mom sucks. 

-Those people on the motorcycle. Where are their helmets? Where were they driving? Into the wall? My bullshit meter is going off. 

-There aren’t enough bats?? My guy the window is absolutely covered in bats. 

-This beer sure is getting their money’s worth for product placement. 

-ALMOST 40??? They really got Earth out here playing characters ten years older than his age. What’s with that. 

-Jim saying he’s not fit to be anyone’s home while he’s busy being everyone’s home. Someone come take care of Jim too. Or at least help ease his burden.

-I don’t know what to make of this show. All I know is I want more Heart and Li.

These ones just feel so lazy. It’s just them standing there with a rainbow border. That’s it. They could have done a bit more with this that still fit the song, but the standing still just doesn’t fit.

4. More More Jump

Vivid Bad Squad’s is the only one I dislike, these ones I think are really cute! I think my only issue is that they feel a bit slow? But still they aren’t bad, Haruka’s is my personal favorite out of the group.

3. Wonderlands x Showtime

Now we’re getting into the ones I really like, these are fast paced and really show off the characters’ personalities. Plus it goes well with the song and the mv as a whole. These ones are just fun.

2. Nightcord at 25:00

I know some people are probably gonna be mad that these ones aren’t number one. I do really like how much symbolism is in all the cut ins and how different they all are from each other. The only issue I have with them is that I just think these set everyone’s expectations for these way too high. Plus I just like the mv as is. They’re still really good cut ins though.

1. Leo/Need

I’ll admit, I am biased here cause Leo/Need is my favorite unit. But I just love the feel of these cut ins. It’s like they’re just goofing off recording each other and it’s great. N25’s is probably the better of the top two, but I just like these more and I think it works well with the mv instead of against it.

yeah i'm an army lol (the chill kind so don't come for me yall 💜😂) little backstory i found out about them back in 2018. i was just about to graduate high school at the time and was freaking out about the future, as one does, when i stumbled across their fake love mv. my curiosity was peeked and it was over from there. their songs and lyrics got me through literally some of the hardest times of my life, and whalien 52 will always symbolically be my favorite track from them because, besides being nice to listen to, it really spoke to me at the time and i would play it a lot whenever i would be hard on myself or feel upset over my circumstances. that song (and others like so far away by suga) was like a comfort - like an acknowledgement of my feelings and a reminder that i wasn't alone, that i wasn't the only person who has felt lonely or struggled in some way. and bts was my gateway into kpop so they'll always hold a special place in my heart (although now i have to suffer from being attacked everyday by a different kpop group and its members so idk thanks i guess??? lololol) ok sob story about my username is over lol.

thoughts on jimin's new album - idk if i'm gonna get flamed for this but it wasn't really my vibe (no pun intended) if i'm being honest and i say that lovingly/respectfully. he is my bts bias and the first bias i ever had so believe me i am being honestttt lol. his dancing is what he's known for obvs so it didn't surprise me when the first release was set me free prt 2 which had more of an anthemic, powerful vibe to it. that was definitely fun to watch but it was that kind of kpop release where i get this feeling of like, this is a great performance to watch, but not a song i'd necessarily wanna hear again. and then i listened to the rest of the album and the other songs didn't do it for me personally either *with love*. Like Crazy was definitely my favorite, with the soft 80s vibes <3, but I'm not sure I'm gonna be playing it all that often. There wasn't a stand out point for me in it where I was like 'ah i wanna hear that part again' ya know??? For ref i really liked the song he did with taeyang (Vibe) and I still love the heck out of Serendipity from the Love Yourself days so I know jimin is capable of greatness...this just wasn't it for me personally. i keep emphasizing that b/c i'm not tryna receive any army hate 🤣. of all the member's releases so far, my favs were rm's indigo album (such a vibe ugggh + his features were fantastic), jin's the astronaut (was meh the first time i listened and then i heard it again in the middle of the night and it broke me???) and jhope's song on the street with jcole (not much of a rap girlie but i loveeeee jcole's music in particular for his incredible lyricism - he's a goat and one of the few i listen to - so i screamed when i saw the collab and the song was so freaking good 😭). I am incredibly excited for V's release whenever that comes because I'm convinced it's gonna be full of kdrama tracks that will make me cry (have you heard sweet night??? christmas tree??? winter bear??? bruh) and then Jungkook is such a stunning vocalist that i know I'll enjoy whatever he releases (euphoria is set as my phone alarm and ringtone and it still makes me cry to this day 🥹).

We got that cool tough edgy sound (Baddie, but also Bad Habits), we got the ethereal ballads that make you feel you are floating among constellations (Light The Way, but also those Hideout ballads), we got the upbeat groovy tunes (literally the title track. Seems to fit them perfectly and it never gets old. Perfect), and we got the Summer Vacation Playlist Material (anything from Cloud 9 to Fly).

(There's also this other mini-genre of Cravity sounds that I can't describe quite well, and I'm not sure if Get Lifted quite fits in there, but I will tentatively call said category VroomVroomVroomSkrt.)

Anyway, I like it! They've definitely found their sound(s), and now they're improving and expanding on that. Personally, my favourite is pretty obvious (Baddie is gonna be a playlist regular, those instrumentals have a crunch to it I like, just yes). However, I do respect your favourite being Fly. Especially since spring is taking a long time to arrive this year, so that song helps deal with the winter blues.

Also, the music video visuals! The little camera cuts and the set designs and everything are wonderful. Especially that part right before the last chorus where the camera flips and there's all the planets. The set design crew are doing some excellent work.

I love pretty much everything in Suisei's discography, girl constantly putting out win after win. I can't choose one favorite of hers! I'd say out of all her songs I especially love Ghost, Template, Wicked, Stellar Stellar, Tenkyuu, and NCP, as well as 3:12/Sanji Juunihun. All her stuff is just on a whole 'nother level like. Words cannot express how she NEVER MISSES

I'm in a similar boat with Calli's songs, too. Lots of super godly stuff, super crunchy on my ears! My favorites of hers are probably Red, Off With Their Heads, End Of A Life, Ijimekko Bully and Dead on Arrival. Mera Mera is quickly shooting up high on my favorites list, too. Love her lyrics, reaper queen is popping off constantly!

Towa's songs I also love a lot. My top three? Palette's a classic, Born To Be Real is a banger, and My Roar goes off HARD; iirc they got Utsu-P himself to work on My Roar so no WONDER it's awesome. Towa's got an incredible voice especially when she's doing more heavy rock stuff and belting like GIRL. Oh, I also love Madoromi and Over Time - the songs she did with Kanata.

Oh, and I love all of Marine's OG songs. Ahoy and Set Sail make me want to join her pirate crew and go off and do funny hijinks, and Unison is so musically trippy (I almost didn't believe it was in 4/4 time the first couple of listens!) yet addicting! The MVs for Set Sail and Unison too are just so GOOD

Wonder-La-Der: Kanat's OG song is so high energy and upbeat and perfectly encapsulates our PPT's energy and it's constantly on loop for me; I love how she got almost all of Holopro to cameo in it

Inochi: Honestly EVERYTHING of AZKi's is super underrated, but this is my favorite of hers. It's just such a damn good song I can't word good enough to describe it, it's got me with the feels

Aki basically made a freaking pseudo-conlang just for this song, based on the language of her original homeland (since in her lore, she's a half-elf from another world and all)! Girl did NOT have to do that for us and yet she did.

There are so many other amazing songs made by super talented individuals that I haven't mentioned here; I really HAVEN'T covered all my favorites yet. I love Hololive for a lot of reasons but their range of musical talents is one of the big reasons. Honestly I just go out of my way to listen to almost every song Holopro put out because they're all so GOOD

GIF Tutorial for Beginners

People keep asking me to teach them how to make gifs and I end up writing them long confusing messages, so I figured maybe it’s time to just write up an actual clean tutorial instead! This is supposed to be for total beginners! (Or people who want to switch to a new process that I’ve curated and streamlined over 8 years of making gifs.) I’ll try to keep this as barebones as possible, and won’t include all the advanced stuff I usually add. I hope it’s easy enough to follow, and I’ll include some links at the end for more stuff. I really do think it’s better to make a few simple gifs before doing more complicated stuff though, just to get used to it!

There will be three sections in this tutorial: #1 Basics - How to make a gif in PS at all #2 Sharpen - How to use sharpen/denoise filters in an easy way #3 Colouring - Just a few very basic adjustment layers

What you need:

A video (most common formats should work, although .mkv doesn’t always)

Photoshop (I use PS CC 2018 - this one because I'm morally opposed to Adobe’s subscription model - but versions aren’t super different from each other)

In the end, you should hopefully be able to make something like this:

This is gonna be so long. Sorry. You can make a gif with just part #1! The rest is just to make it look better.

#1 Basics

If any of the tools/functions aren’t where they should be for you, your best bet is googling it, you might need to change something in your preferences!

Make sure to save your PS file... often. PS has a tendency to crash, especially on laptops.

First, you need to get the video file. I recommend a shorter video, a few minutes long, if it’s longer you might want to cut it into shorter parts beforehand. This is just because PS’s video import tool sucks.

I chose the Butter MV, specifically Jungkook’s body roll at 1:24 because that’s what I want to look at for the duration of this tutorial. No further questions, thanks.

1. Open PS, go to File > Import > Video Frames to Layers

2. In the little pop-up, choose the part of the video that you want to gif. This will import every frame of the video into PS as a layer, so it has to be a relatively short part, or it’ll take ages (and gifs can’t be that big anyway). Now you can also see why it’s almost impossible to select the correct part if the video is too long.

The little controls at the bottom are for trimming, the one in the middle just for the preview. Make sure “Make Frame Animation” is selected! Then click OK.

3. Now you have your layers, and you have a frame animation! On the right are your layers, that’s where we’ll apply the colouring etc. later on. On the bottom, that’s your timeline or frame animation - that’s what the gif will be in the end! So if you delete frames, the layers will still be there, but they won’t show up in the gif. If you click on a frame, you can see the little eye checkmark on the layer that’s currently visible.

4. The timeline controls at the bottom that are relevant right now: set to “forever” so the gif will loop, you can play the animation with the play button, and you can delete the selected frame(s). The number on each frame is the speed of the gif, depending on the video I usually set it to 0.05 or 0.06 (photoshop lies to you when you play the animation, the only way to test this is to open the finished gif, preferably on tumblr or wherever you want to upload it).

5. As you can see, the animation starts a bit before the actual part that I want, so go ahead and delete all the frames in the animation that you don’t want! You can delete the corresponding layers too if you want, to make the PS file smaller, but it has no influence on the gif. (Hold Shift to select multiple frames as usual)

6. Next, we’re gonna crop the gif however we want! You can do this with the crop tool in the left sidebar, but with gifs like this where there’s a lot of moving parts, I sometimes just use the selection tool in the left sidebar, like so:

When you click on different frames, the selection stays, and you can check to make sure Jungkook doesn’t suddenly go out of frame if you crop it like that!

At this point, make sure the selection/crop isn’t smaller than you want the gif to be! For tumblr, what matters is the width (in pixels) of gifs. In the end, the width dimensions on tumblr should be 540px (1 gif per row), 268px (2 gifs per row), or 177/178px (3 gifs per row). Anything else will lead to very shitty resizing!

For this gif I’m going full sized, meaning 540px wide, so I made sure my selection isn’t smaller than that.

Then just go to Image > Crop, and it’s done!

7. Check to see if this is what you want, then resize: go to Image > Image Size to resize the picture. Make sure the little “link” between Width and Height is active (to keep the same aspect ratio), then set the width to 540px or whatever you chose. I always set the resample option to Bicubic.

Once that’s done, set the zoom to 100% right above the timeline, to see what it really looks like.

Almost done! A little note about the sizing: width is the important part for tumblr, but if you want to make a whole gif set (especially with more than 1 gif per row!!!) make sure to make all the gifs the same height, otherwise they won’t line up and tumblr will do whatever it wants.

I ended up making mine 540 x 400 and ended up with this:

8. Time to save the gif!! Go to File > Export > Save for Web (OR just use the shortcut Ctrl + Shift + Alt + S) (or whatever it is on Mac).

In the pop-up, you can change things about the gif, but most things should already be the way you want it (Image size, Looping option forever). Selective should be the default, just like the rest.

You can choose between Pattern and Diffusion, some gif makers swear on one or the other, I go back and forth.

On the bottom left, you can see the size of your gif. Keep an eye on that! I believe Tumblr allows every single gif to be up to 10mb, but I try to keep mine under 5mb or close to it, because I think tumblr adds compression if it gets closer to 10mb?? Anyway back in my day you couldn’t upload anything over 1mb. You’ll never know our struggles.

Then just save it, and that’s it, you made a gif! Well done!! Here’s the end result:

#2 Sharpen

There are countless ways out there to make gifs as smooth and clean as possible! Here I’ll show you the easiest way, but it also provides a good basis for other methods. The main difficulty is that you you need to sharpen the layers, but you don’t want to 100 layers one by one. So what we’re gonna do is convert the layers into a Smart Object, which functions as one layer!

1. Convert the frame animation timeline to a video timeline with the little button right underneath on the left:

It should look like this, and I’m sorry but I can’t explain this one because I’m not an expert here, but you can just ignore it:

2. Select all layers: Select > All Layers, or just manually. 

Then right click on the layers > Convert to Smart Object. Now there’s only one layer left, but don’t worry, the frames are still there!

3. De-noise! It reduces noise, takes away some of that grain. More necessary in some videos. It also makes it less sharp, so I do this one first. Filter > Noise > Reduce Noise

My default settings are, Strength: 6, Preserve Details: 60, Reduce Color Noise: 45, Sharpen Details: 25, Remove JPEG Artifact: No. But you can play around, especially with the strength, and see how the little preview looks. Don’t apply too much of it! Or it will look weirdly smooth with no details in the end.

4. File > Sharpen > Smart Sharpen. 

Settings: I usually have mine at Amount: 500, Reduce Noise: 5, and Radius at either 0.2 or 0.3, depending on the video. I’ll actually do 0.3 here, because I find it a bit blurry otherwise. If you sharpen more, it can quickly get grainy.

The difference isn’t huge, but here’s a little before and after denoise & sharpen:

Technically you can just save it as a gif (save for web) as shown above now, or you can convert it back to a frame animation, which I’d recommend especially if you use certain other sharpening methods (I’ll show you how to convert it back at the end of the colouring part), but for now, let’s go straight to the next part:

#3 Colouring

Now, you CAN do this part right after part #1, still in frame animation, without a smart object. I prefer it like this because sometimes PS acts weird, but if you want to skip the smart object stuff: select all frames, and add the adjustment layers at the very top, above all the other layers. (It only affects selected frames; and it only affects the layers under it.)

The adjustment layers should be above the layer tray, and these are the ones we’ll use today: Brightness/Contrast, Curves, Vibrance, Color Balance, Selective Color.

All of these are optional! You can do one, or all, or any combination. This is just the very most basic for me to get a gif to a point that I like. I’d recommend sticking to these for a start, but once you get the hang of it, definitely feel free to play around! It’s fun! Every gif maker has different preferences here, too, so there’s tutorials for everything.

1. Curves: Just click Auto, tbh. You can play around, but Auto works fine for me as a start, just to brighten or darken some parts as a base.

2. Brightness/Contrast: Usually videos are a bit dark, and contrast can help to make it seem sharper AND cut down on gif size, so I usually just up both of them a bit (but not too much! Or it’ll look cheap). Here I put them at B: 19, C: 23

3. Vibrance: I love very vibrant and colourful gifs, so I usually up the vibrance (and sometimes the saturation). This one is already very vibrant, so I only put +5, but if you try to colour, say, a very moody tv show, this can help wonders, especially if you want to work with the colours more later.

If you prefer less vibrant gifs, you can also lower the values here!

4. Color Balance: getting a bit more complicated now. Often, videos will have a slight yellow or green or blue tint, and this is where you can correct that. This video is a bit yellow, so I added +17 Blue. It was still too warm, so i added -11 Cyan as well. This neutralized the yellow tint, but I wanted some of the reddish tone back, so I added -5 Magenta. I usually do a similar process like that, depending on the tone. 

Instead of Midtones, you can also do this for Shadows and Highlights individually.

5. Selective Color: now this is the most complicated, but also the most fun to play around in my opinion! Be careful here, if you do something too extreme it’ll look like shit or make the gif super grainy. I some rough goals in mind here: make the blue hair as blue as possible, make their skin tone a bit less pale, and enhance the black and white (which I always do).

You choose a colour at the top, and then add or subtract cyan/magenta/yellow/black values for that colour.

Skin tone: yellow and red. For this gif, I just added black to both, making them darker. Sometimes, if you change one or both those colours for a different part of the gif (for example, if I wanted to make the background less yellow, I’d subtract yellow from the yellows - but then I’d add yellow to the reds, to make the skin tone natural again.)

Blue hair: Just ramp up the cyan for the blues. Be careful with putting anything to +100, but here it’s already so bright that it should be fine. His roots are more purple, so I changed the magentas by adding cyan and black, and subtracting magenta and yellow. It’s not super clean, but fine for our purposes.

Black/white: depending on the gif, I often either add or subtract black to the whites. Adding makes the highlights less blinding, a bit darker, and flatter (I like to do that if one side of the face is bright white in the sunlight, for example). Subtracting creates contrast, makes it brighter, can wash it out. It can also lessen the gif size, and here it’s mostly just the tracksuit instead of important details, so I subtracted black. For the blacks, I almost always just add a bit of black, to make it more intense. Just like adding contrast, this can make the gif seem sharper and less grainy.

And done! 

6. You could just save it as gif now, but as I said, I prefer to convert it back to frame animation timeline first, if only because I like to let it play through before I save it, and it works better for me there than in the video timeline.

Select all frames, then click the little menu on the top right of the video timeline > Convert Frames > Flatten Frames into Clips

7. When you scroll down to the bottom of the layers now, the old smart object + adjustment layers should be at the bottom, under all the new layers. Delete the old ones, we don’t need them anymore.

8. Convert the timeline back to frame animation, by clicking the little button at the bottom left of the video timeline:

9. Click on the menu top right of the timeline again > Make Frames from Layers

10. Now, just some potential cleaning left to do. Sometimes, there’s a doubled or empty frame or layer at the beginning or end, just delete those as necessary. The timing of the frames is probably off, too, just select all frames and set the delay time to 0.05 (or whatever).

Now your done! Save as gif, and you should get this:

this was everything i've ever wanted and more. hate that was an incredibly pre release that really set up the eyefeel for how this comeback was gonna look and i could not be more pleased. there's so much attention to detail and love in this entire comeback and the fact that they extended it all the way to the packaging design is just an extra cherry on top. the shifting silhouettes of the outfits depending on what sond is being performed and how that fits with the choreography (big exaggerated shoulder pads and shoulder moves for bad love) and all the uniquely key takes on all the popular trends (mullets, crop tops, cowboy, y2k) and all the small details in everything is just so satisfying. i love this styling so much, it's my top one this year.

i'm including as the whole of the comeback because it was technically a digital release and he only did one music show stage, but as i'm sure you remember this blew my fucking brains out. it still blows my fucking brains out. they fact that they shot the mv in one studio with just a white cyclorama and a load of props + set dec is insane. also neon milk!?!?! i wish i had more coherent thoughts about this but the reality is that every time i see a stage my brain just goes 'brrrrrrrrr'.

oneus - luna

this is easily one of the best and most beautiful contemporary handbok concepts to come out of the current trend. there is so much care and attention to detail in the production design and the styling and the choreography that it's just a visual feast. everything looks so good. i'm so glad this is what got them their first win. fave stages: the show 211123, inkigayo 211114, music bank 211112, music core 211113, music bank 211119, music core 211120, music core 211127, inkigayo 211128, the show 211130.

sf9 - teardrop

we all knew it was going to be here. sf9's revenge arc was one of the best underdog stories this year and the planning and payoff that went into teardrop was so worth it. really loved that they went (at least in the mv and some of the promo materials) with a norse mythology concept, which i don't think i've seen from a kpop group before? it's definitely not very common at least. this is easily one of the most interesting and experimental mvs from this year as well. we all saw the music show stages. here's some faves: inkigayo 210718, music core 210710, music core 210717, show champion 210714, inkigayo 210711.

hyuna&dawn - ping pong

not a surprise inclusion either. it's a controversial styling for sure but both hyuna and dawn have really concrete understandings of how fashion, and particularly couture + luxury branding, work. they both worked a lot with their stylist on this and some of the outfits are not even 'real' designer, they're remade from other cut up designer garmants (i think hyuna posted something on ig showing her cutting up a branded wallet to make a bra). i love kitsch and i've talked about how hyuna uses aesthetics before, but i really do love how the both of them are not afraid to just look weird. plus the way that they purposefully take luxury branding and make it look tacky is so much more effective than any attempt by luxury brands themselves to do the same. fave stages: relay dance, mcountdown 210916, music bank 210917, music core 210925.

monsta x - rush hour

honestly this is my favourite mx comeback since love killa. i like gambler as a song but the styling for it lacked any real distinctive visual flair and although there were a few cool things, i much prefer the talladega nights energy of rush hour. unfortunately it does also feature that patterned black and white suit that hoshi used in spider that i really don't like, but i'm overlooking it here because it's really the only thing i have a complaint about. i really love that they've commited to consistently using the steadicam as a directional element and i love how they've tied the intro into it as well. fave stages: music core 211120, music core 211127, music bank 211126, music bank 211119, inkigayo 211121, inkigayo 211128.

cl - alpha

like with blaze, i'm including this as a whole ep because even though i'm of a mixed mind on spicy, the rest of this album is SO good. cl has a really good stylist who's apparently good enough to get her to the met gala (as one of the only people who understood the theme this year) and the mvs were just banger after banger. lover like me is my favourite but close second is tie a cherry and then let it (stages: tie a cherry music bank 211022/inkigayo 211024, lover like me sketchbook 211022). i really really love that some of her looks were very clearly art deco/1920s inspired because boy does she pull it off well but i'm a huge sucker for deco fashion it's one of my all time fave eras. i'm also absolutely cuckoo for cocoapuffs over the live performance video; this is what i wanted from performance videos in the pandemic. incredible outfits in unconventional venues with good creative lighting. if you've got 13 minutes i'd recommend it.

aespa - savage + dreams come true

this is likely be controversial inclusion but i don't care. i've mentioned before a couple of times how i liked how sm was setting up aespa as the redux of first gen kpop techno orientalism and i did not expect that observation to pay off so literally in terms of the dreams come true remaster. i'm smashing it together with savage because the aesthetics are basically the same and this is the most successful iteration of that egirl y2k pseudo goth type revival that all the zoomers are into right now. it's over the top and the shapes are so weird and interesting, especially regarding the lower half of the body, whic is not super common with styling for female idols. yea yea the avatars could use some work but i'm really not all that fussed about it since they aren't really using them a whole lot. sm should definitely contact riot though if they want to do better. fave stages: music core 211016, inkigayo 211024, mcountdown 211014.

purple kiss my beloved. this mv is just so cute and fun and they have such an extensive and varied styling for it and 95% of it are hits. also rbw is doing a great job of styling them within their age limits (the oldest is a 97 but their youngest is an 03). plus the combination of the fact that this is an excellent song and even better ep AND the fact that this is literally their first comeback (this girls debuted in march 2021!!!!), what's not to love. i'm really excited to see where they go next and they were my fave girl group debut this year. also the boy in the mv is cya from onewe. fave stages: mcountdown 210909, inkigayo 210912, mcountdown 210916, music bank 210924.

i hope johnny knows that he changed my life when he released 'that man is my girl' into the universe. because this man. he is my girl. woodz has had a very clear style this year and i love that you can see the consistency between waiting and feel like. also we love a long haired boy, even if it is extensions. the mv is great and the live clips from the ep are so good, especially the one for chaser. fave stages: inkigayo 211017, music core 211009, mcountdown 211007, the show 211012.

i'm a sticker apologist and you can fight me about it if you want but you absolutely cannot change my mind that this mv looks so good. i finally got the real yeehaw trend that i wanted and there are so many fun and funny details in this mv that it's a shame people wrote this song off so fast. the colour palette is really strong and well utilized especially because it's quite broad and very bright. honestly the stages are where the performance shines but i didn't always love the styling so that's why i bumped it down to runner up. also i really really loved the concept photos:

another baby group that debuted in 2021 back with a really strong first comeback in the fall. i was not expecting to like this so much but i actually love this song. the mv is fine but the stages are SO much fun and spoiler alert: this is one of my favourite choreos from this year. but i really did lose my mind watching the stages because a big chunk of their styling was loverboy, which is one of my favourite designers. you can see two full suits and a sweater here (sya at 0.19, jinhwa at 0.29, chris at 0.43), more here (juhan at beginning (sweater), go u at 0.15 (full suit), jinhwa at 0.30 (full)), and more here (go u (jacket)). also i just really love the chaos of the styling; other stages i really like include the show 211019 and of course the halloween version which is SO cute. the bside they promoted with is also really cute and their group branding and marketing design is very different from any other boy group i've seen this year. do i like them because they have big theatre kid energy and remind me of my first year of undergrad and this is all stuff i would wear? perhaps, i'll never tell.

i'm obsessed with how gnarly the graphics are in this mv. also it's a digipedi production so obviously it's good. i know people like to debate if epik high is kpop or not but tablo himself said his account was the best kpop account on twitter so what are you gonna do, argue with tablo?? anyways their mvs are good and this is no exception.

e'last - dark dream

e'last is the only group upholding the styling traditions of early third gen and i applaud their commitment. and they debuted during the pandemic, which is even more impressive. honestly this was borderline in the best overall category but the mv, although good, is pretty typical for a kpop mv so i didn't end up bumping it up. here's some of my fave crop tops stages: mcountdown 211007, music core 211009, inkigayo 211010, show champion 211013. OH and then they came in a month later promoting the bside to.lie with the MOST whoville looking concept i've ever seen from a boy group. i need you to look at yejun's avocado bag. it's extremely important. literally, the duality.

ten - paint me naked

in general i really like the mv and especially the second half of it with the paint rain, but honestly my favourite outfit wasn't even in the mv, it was this white denim printed suit from the play colour stage. obviously i also love the chainmail tank and the louis vuitton checkerboard suit (from the same collection as taemin's advice shirt) and the painted leather jacket with the jeans with his name across the crotch (the mv version with the beret is cuter but i will take the exchange for the fuschia chrome spike plug circa 2013). i like that it was a lot more playful that we were expecting from the title and it's nice to see him be a bit more free and not railroaded into the cool aloof dancer he has been.

sunmi - you can't sit with us

this mv is incredible. honestly i don't think any one else will be able to nail the nostalgia goggles y2k aesthetic as well as sunmi does here. the production design is phenomenal, the fight choreo is phenomenal, it's sunmi, what more do you want? the stages were fine but god this mv is just so good and the concept is purposefully very cinematically referential so it makes sense that they just didn't hit the same. although i did love the lil flair move that that one backup dance had at the end of the choreo (which they never showed on any music shows because they were always up close on her face). also incredible that we got two short film quality level mvs with bone fide fight choreography this year.

changmin - human

ok so this one is cheating because it's technically a japanese release but it's my list so i can break the rules when i want to. absolutely love the narrative of this mv and as soon as you put fish and cyber stuff in something i automatically have to love it. i'm very easy to win over. also i think this is my most watched mv this year because i spent SO long scrubbing through it to find good reference images for those drawings i did for hanya and jenny.....

onf - goosebumps

they did not do nearly enough stages for this but also it was their last comeback before enlisting/the holidays and i respect them for giving us one last incredible hurrah. same praises as beautiful beautiful; their vfx team is fucking fantastic because this mv is literally all greenscreened with the exception of a couple of segments in a white cube studio. they are the only group that's able to pull this level of vfx off and i hope that company holds onto that artist for dear life while the boys are away. highlight outfits are these ones for play colour, we love a good full patent look.

ateez - the real

obviously i've liked the real since they dropped it as their finale stage for kingdom, but i did not expect that we were gonna get a full comeback with it right at the end of the year when they've already had such a busy year. the stages are ok but i LOVE the energy and the look of the mv, which isn't a surprise because it's digipedi. the scale of this is absolutely befitting of ateez's achievements this year and i hope they get a break before they go off on their world tour. i do really dig the styling of the inkigayo 211212 stage too.

the song itself was a disappointment because the styling and production design really is SO good. i have a longer post about it in the works so you'll be able to get my more extended thoughts there, but there was one outfit that i didn't like and i hated the outfits for domino, so that's why this doesn't make the best overall category.

xdinary heroes - happy death day

as we now know, jype is probably to lose day6 once their contracts and service are up, so they've debuted another kband. the song is probably controversial to some people but i think it's fun and i am a HUGE fan of the shinee dream girl era plaid clown suits. i notoriously hate the jype stylists because they suck at their jobs but they get one (1) right for those. looking forward to whatever else these guys do. also absolutely only tangentally related but the happy death day movies slap and you should watch them.

i am mad at how good eunkwang looks here. i hate it. i love it. also don't talk to me about minhyuk and his sheer shirt over a tank and bootcut trousers and 2" cuban heels. honestly this outfit lives rent free in my brain and it just goes to show that you don't always gotta be dripping in sparkles to look good. i know they make the girlies dance in heels all the time but come on boys. step it up. if minhyuk can do it so can you. also the red suit and split dye look great on peniel. outsider is just a really great song and the mv and stages were so fun but this one stood out the most to me.

i'm still in my grudge era against the kq stylists but i really liked the deja vu stylings for music bank 210907 (bedazzled leather), music bank 210924 (corsets), and inkigayo 210926 (honestly i'm not sure but it looks good).

i like the mv and and i wasn't impressed with the styling overall but i do like the music core 211113 stage, because it is a good example of how this current trend of eboy tactical can actually work in conjunction with the concept. am i saying that more boy groups need to be put in battle royale situations? maybe.

baekhyun baekhee

there was this tension at the start. you wouldn’t notice it at first glance but when you really pay attention to how the both of them act around each other ,,, you’ll just wonder how they are off-cam.

taehee mentioned during wgu era baekhyun was one of her role models when it came to the entertainment industry ,, so some fans wondered maybe there was still this senior-junior relationship between them while the rest were getting close with her.

but baekhyun hates awkward. luckily, they were roommates when they came to the states for their debut. 

he figured he could get closer to taehee by making her laugh a lot, and he succeeded !!! it was easy since they basically shared the same humor.

he also took her out to eat when they came back to korea ,, discovered her love for playing video games and that they had a lot more in common

taehee enjoys playing hard to get when it comes to baekhyun.

(superm midterm exam ep. 1) “but you said i was your role model!!!” “when it came to being funny, yes...?” “W H A T !!!!”

as much as possible, baekhyun wants taehee to show off or be given attention to. whether that came to lines on the script or bragging about what she can do, not only does he do this as a leader but as someone who wants to show that taehee is as capable as them.

(200913 vlive) taehee comes up to the camera and nervously laughs, “yah, how do i do this?!” she turns around to face the rest of the boys who have challenged her into doing taemin’s killing part in the ‘criminal’ mv. “just do it like you would usually do!” baekhyun encourages cheerfully. “don’t act shy! you know you can do it.”

iconic moment (mtopia ep. 11-2) "whoever competes with baekhyun hyung is likely to lose,” kai says, watching as the eldest prep himself for the game. hearing this, taehee instantly shot up from her seat and moved to the red square opposite of baekhyun. though determined, she lets out a casual remark, “i’ll fight him,” and the others laugh. 

ever since the first game of the night, baekhyun and taehee teased each other back and forth, trying to get the other off their game. the scoreboard between the two of them was currently 2:1, with taehee having won the paper cup game and the team game with mark and the others. baekhyun glances to the side nervously, until an idea pops in his head. 

he lights up her candle shortly and hands it to her, “here.” taehee accepts the candle without protest as she sat down, until kai says, “he gave you the weaker candle.” her head snaps up to see baekhyun dead set on making his flame stronger than hers, his fierce expression making all of them crack up. “oppa!” taehee complains but she laughs. “yah, baekhyun hyung, that’s unfair!” taeyong backs the maknae up, well aware of the feeling of losing quickly to their leader. “jeon taehee, you better win this,” taeyong tells her, his tone was laced with seriousness yet his pout said otherwise. “avenge me,” and taehee gives him a salute and a wink in return. 

not sooner than later, their match begins. their hot battle keeping the members on their toes, they too were aware of their rivalry from earlier. “jeon taehee, let’s go!” mark cheers. although taehee could barely see with the water getting in her eyes and hair, she moved her candle in all directions in defense to her opponent’s shooting (at this point, taehee figured baekhyun was just trying to shoot at her face but she’s not complaining... that much). with a sharp aim, taehee was able to distinguish baekhyun’s candle in just less than a minute. 

“i think water went into my nose,” taehee giggles as she lowers her candle down, removing any excess water from her eyes once her other hand was free. meanwhile baekhyun looked shell-shocked, taemin and the others laughing more at the result. “hyung, you looked like you won!” kai teases him further. “i won,” baekhyun jokingly seethes, “I WON!”

taehee laughs, “알았어, loser.” the team breaks off into a louder fit while baekhyun smiles in disbelief. taehee sure was different.

despite both of them being the most quiet during the first meeting, the both of them got closer the quickest !!!!

first day they were like ‘hi hello annyeong’. next day, they’re sharing recipes, having inside jokes, mini-handshake (courtesy of taehee), play-fighting, making funny faces at each other whenever they make eye contact during dance practices ....

dance prodigies !!! amazing, talented, remarkable dance prodigies !!! aces at everything !!!! their stage presence !!!!

(superm reveal which member has the best hair and who is the funniest of the group | billboard) “these two,” taeyong gestures to taehee and to taemin, “how do i say this? they look immoral on stage.” the others chuckle at his bluntness, “i think that would be the best term for it.”

taehee finds taemin very cute and would willingly watch his aegyo.

(’one’ dance practice behind) “hyung, you are honestly so cute,” taehee centers the camera to taemin, “times like these, i wish you were my younger brother.” he laughs. 

meanwhile, taemin finds himself laughing at taehee’s antics most of the time (totally didn’t expect the chaotic energy coming from this one).

taehee always manages to find her place next to taemin somehow, and when taemin turns to find out she was beside him this whole time, he’d smile at her and pat the top of her head. 

taemin became one of taehee’s comfort people !!!! from having a senior-junior relationship to being one of taehee’s most trusted friends, they grew really close after time and related well with each other.

iconic moment (’one’ dance practice behind) “woah, oppa you look really pretty from this angle,” taehee tilts the camera to the sides until taemin starts doing aegyo, causing laughter to bubble from the girl. “hey! hyung, why are you seriously so cute?”

taemin recalls the other day he and taehee hung out together, and he sits up straight before telling the story. “you know what taehee did the other day?” his lips break into a wide smile, his tone piquing interest from ten and mark. “what did she say?” mark said. 

“she said, ‘hyung, it think it would be nice if you were my dongsaeng.’ and i haven’t said anything yet and she said, ‘yaja time? start. taeminnie, what do you want to do?’”

mark and ten burst out laughing, taehee feigns ignorance. “what? when was that? i don’t remember that.”

taemin chuckles, “taehee is really so precious.”

he was very cautious around her, even if it was just standing close to her during photoshoots.

he makes fun of her accent (jokingly ofc) but also loves it.

iconic moment (mtopia ep. 11-1) “i feel like taehee would get this though,” baekhyun says and the others agree with him, taehee’s agile. they all watch as she puts her hands on each side of the toaster, preparing herself by biting on thin air. “okay, i’ll start now!”

using her left thumb, she pushed the press handle down and released. but instead of catching the piece of bread, she caught her tongue in between her teeth. she immediately pulled back and brought her hands to her mouth, walking away the pain as the members pointed out she wasn’t able to succeed. kai was the first to notice her, “what’s wrong, taehee?”

“i bit my tongue and it hurts so much,” she winces. kai cackles, “바보! taehee!”

“it was an accident!” she exclaims. “i know but you don’t put your tongue out like that!”

taehee grumbles at kai’s remark as she sat beside him. the latter pulls her close by the shoulder and ruffles her hair, laughing as she poked her cheek. “you want to eat bread?” kai smiles at her, already reaching out for the plate of extras. 

“i’m gonna eat bread.”

taehee’s all up for the ‘taeyong babie’ agenda since it’s so cute to see the older members tease and baby taeyong.

knowing that baekhyun likes to poke the fun out of these two, taeyong and taehee would team up against him.

(superm mtopia ep. 1) “taehee, let’s make baekhyun hyung out,” taeyong tells her, taehee mirroring the determined look on his face. “we got this.”

taeyong hypes taehee up like a stage dad or something lol he’d go like, “WOOOO!!! THAT’S MY BABY,” and taehee would find herself smiling before resuming to whatever she was doing. 

taehee had to stop herself from clowning taeyong when they went surfing for mtopia and instead gave him tips and all. of course, she tries to bite her lip from laughing while doing so.

(mtopia ep. 3) taehee goes to sit beside a nervous taeyong on the dock as he waits for his turn. chuckling, she says, “hyung, just pace yourself, alright? don’t rush—“ but then kai cuts her off, also noticing the scared look on the rapper’s expression, “you won’t die anyways.” taehee whips her head back to glare at kai, though it was clear she was trying to hold in her laughs. “HEY!”

iconic moment (mtopia ep. 2) taehee was the first to pick out of the eight of them. whether she’ll start shedding tears or not, her fate relies on the fifth sushi she had chosen, hoping that it wasn’t the one with wasabi. “it’s the one. she lost it,” baekhyun says as he tries to throw taehee off guard. “it’s not,” she replies, though her eyes said otherwise.

once she grabs the piece of sushi in between her chopsticks, she takes a tentative glance towards the staff and keeps her eyes on them as she took it in whole. taehee knew she was doomed on the first chew, the spiciness of the paste burns her tongue and brings tears to her face. she laughs dryly as a few tears slipped down her face and sniffs, “i never knew wasabi was this spicy.” the boys behind her laugh at the crack in her voice, the staff handing her a tissue as she staggered back to her place beside taeyong who immediately wrapped his arms around her to comfort her. “taehee can’t handle spicy foods well,” taeyong chuckles, “are you okay?”

“yeah, my mouth just feels like it’s burning!,” taehee exclaims, her wild gestures adding humor to her expression. taeyong lets out a hearty laugh as he gave her water, “have this.” he watches her down the water in one go, though there were still tears in her eyes, “taehee, you are too cute. i’m serious.” taehee laughs as she wiped her eyes, and they continue with the game.

they are literal geniuses !!!! but... they have their moments.

(200930 live) “he’s the main character in ‘aladdin’, right?,” and with knowing smiles, the others nod at ten’s question. clueless, ten decides to ask more, “what was his name? a whole new world~” and baekhyun and mark tell him he’s right, but ten has literally no clue. chuckling at his cuteness, taehee speaks up, “hyung! he’s the main character in ‘aladdin’! aladdin!” mark and kai laugh loudly at her hint, she was already giving him an answer. kai notices that, like ten, taehee hadn’t got her question correct yet with all the obvious hints they were giving her, and so he laughs harder. “taehee! don’t act like you’ve got you’re question correct!,” the said girl shrugs exaggeratedly, bringing her hands up in the air as if to question the heavens. “you told me he was powerful! so is he like a superhero or something? thor?,” she exclaims, and the others began laughing at her guess, the maknae unaware of the large ‘LEE SOOMAN’ on her cap. “who is it?!”

their banter that goes back and forth are one of the things that make the members’ stomachs hurt from laughing. 

(superm: ready to fly in la) “the three maknaes are my babies,” ten tells the camera, tilting his head to look taehee into the eye before continuing, “but then you’d be my least favorite.”

taehee knows that ten secretly has her as the favorite loves her too, so she always makes it a point to call him cute or something to throw him off guard. 

iconic moment (superm as we wish ep. 1) it was very obvious how taehee felt about ten’s drama. she tried to hold back her smiles but ten was just too cute, it made her heart run in circles. when his drama ended, the boys praised ten’s performance, but baekhyun noticed how much taehee liked it. he calls her out,  “taehee-ssi, you seem to like this very much.” 

a surprised ‘really?’ comes from ten while taehee spoke. “ten oppa just looked so.... natural while doing it,” taehee says, her words and expressions assuring ten he really did a great job. “my heart is doing flips right now?”

the boys laughed, “did you fall for him?” and before taehee got to answer their leader’s question, ten said, “i’ll date you based on your performance.”

“i didn’t even say yes!”

lucas took one look at him, mark, and taehee and just went, “you know if someone took a look at us, they’d think taehee was the oldest.” (taehee had punched him on the shoulder while mark hit the table, laughing)

but then he clarified that it was just because taehee had this motherly aura around her and that she takes care of him and mark really well. 

from then on, lucas would accidentally call taehee ‘noona’; sometimes, he would call her that intentionally when asking for the snacks that were kept in her bag, or teasing her.

(superm as we wish ep. 2) “unnie,” they hear taehee say from the monitor. while the boys accompanied each other in different work environments, taehee went alone to a little café to try out the experience herself. she found herself well acquainted with one of the staff members that had showed her around, and she found herself asking, “how old are you?” the boys erupted into choruses of ‘ooh’s’ when they heard her, baekhyun jokingly asking if she was there to find a date. taehee shakes her head shyly, but she busts out laughing when lucas shouts, “NOONA, FIGHTING!”

we see more of taehee being a baby with lucas in superm :(

he’d give her piggyback rides or ask her if she’s eaten yet, and if she says no, lucas would be like, “come on, man! the last time i saw you eat was breakfast but you only ate a sandwich. wait for me here, i’ll get you a plate.”

iconic moment (mtopia ep. 11-2) as mark and kai shoot each other’s candles out with their water guns, taehee leans into lucas’ side as she laughs with her head buried into his shoulder. it was an endearing sight to see them comparing hand sizes, both of their eyes widening at the size difference. “you’re hand is so small!,” lucas says. “well, duh. your hand is like the size of my face!”

(the story of ‘jopping’) “you look so handsome these days,” taehee said to mark as she took in his appearance, causing the latter to become shy and flustered, “really?”

“you’re cute in 127 and dream!!!! you’re different here, what’s wrong with that?”

taehee LOVED ‘talk about’. she posted a video of her jamming to it in her manager’s car on twitter.

in mtopia, taehee literally took a glance at mark’s quiz in the first episode and said, “ahh you should get this one the first try, it’s easy.” cue a pouty mark

during games, mark knows taehee in and out so it comes off as an advantage to him and a disadvantage to her. 

(mtopia ep. 6) “it’s taehee. taehee is the liar.”

mark and taehee are roommates most of the time and their nightly routines just consist of putting face masks on each other and listening to music while waiting!

iconic moment (mtopia ep. 11-2) “sleepover!!!!,” taehee says excitedly as she sat on the bed with mark. she had just finished brushing her teeth while mark brought out facemasks from his bag. “you wanna put them on each other?,” mark asks, tearing one of the packets open already. 

he turns his head to his right and giggles. taehee had her bangs tied up in a short ponytail, her eyebrows arched in a cheery smile. “you look like 뚱이!,” mark laughs, “dude, seriously. you’re so cute.”

“whatever, just put it on,” taehee rolls her eyes playfully as she hit mark’s shoulder. she closes her eyes but hears mark chuckle again. opening only her left eye, she says, “what’s wrong?”

“you’re really cute,” mark repeats, both of taehee’s eyes now wide open at his compliment. she goes to say something but chooses against it, closing her eyes back again when mark begins putting the mask on her face.

butterflies always swarmed in your stomach when he always said something sweet. even after 2 years of dating, he always managed to make you feel those butterflies in your stomach. you typed the location into the gps, the shoot location over an hour away from the studio. 

you put on the sunglasses harry had left in your car, blasting your music and waving your hand in the wind as you drive to harry’s music video shoot. 

an hour and fifteen minutes later and you arrived to the beach. you hop out, smiling when harry waves to you. you head down, sitting in a chair under the tent. you can hear paparazzi cameras being snapped as you sat down, so you subtly flipped them off. 

sure, you and harry were dating, but did they have to know? maybe you were just a friend. they were just nosey assholes who need a quick buck.

you were glad the sunglasses were a dark red so no one saw how large your pupils got. your fist clenched the arm of the chair, watching girls put themselves all over harry. kissing, rubbing, every thing to get you to be the jealous girlfriend.

SKZ Video Game Theory + Game Ideas

(Ideas for video games inspired by SKZ are under the Keep Reading cut!)

I saw some ppl on Twitter theorizing that Skz have been in a video game and like I’ve been half-joking abt the video game thing since My Pace LOL

In the past I’ve said that although it might not actually be a video game, it fits in a COOL WAY

Since Side Effects I’ve been rooting for the theory of them being in a virtual world because it explains glitch theory, them being surveilled, etc

Their backstory could be that they were NPCs or had a scripted story  but broke their own code

But it could also just be that they’re trapped in the game and the first level is breaking out of District 9

Which would be SUCH A COOL GAME*

Again, this probably isn’t the actual plot since there’s the whole multiverse theory about the members being from different universe/s

HOWEVER that could also be explained by some people starting to believe that the game world is their reality

OH YEAH and Back Door could be as in the pop culture hacking term?? As in I FOUND A BACK DOOR—I’M IN 😎

Also I mention this again in the next section, but the upcoming comeback is literally just if the video game Control was an FPS lol. The main enemy of that game is an invisible “resonance” (vibration, sound, etc) monster called “The Hiss”

Control is also about other dimensions, so like… maybe SKZ were just in the Control universe this entire time lol and they have an Object of Power like the slide projector that brings them to a different universe

Often times too they cut moments if its redundant. If a part of a scene is already in the main content they don't bother showing it in the behind scenes. From my observation.

Often too they save some scenes for memories or some other shit that they use all those pent up footages for. Lol.

BigHit is a business, they produce content that per their research and analytics garners more engagement, audience retention and a whole other metrics. They put a lot of creativity into what they do as creatives and artists- I mean if the baby noises is anything to go by. Those bites are tired!

But often times too, they're tired and they're lazy, and they just put anything together and toss it out there without giving it much thought- isn't that how they leave Jin or Tae out of packages, how certain Jikook moments that should have never made it into screen time ended up in screen time- how JM's third leg made it to the internet? They should have cut that shit before uploading it with those subtitles and yet here we are.

I think people give BigHit too much credit- talking about JK shouldn't gay panic and run away from certain moments with JM if he knows BigHit editors are going to cut those moments.... I think what has changed since JM's birthday in October to now, to me where BigHit is concerned, is the general marketing strategy of the company.

It seems to me the company is adopting a marketing module opposite of the strategy they had been using before the pandemic. I think I've talked about this though...

They are limiting access to the boys to drive sales as and when. BTS dominates the internet and have amassed greater reach and attention partly due to the free content they put out on the internet. But those were never monitised- not in a direct or significant way.

In the wake of the virus, they've had to monetize their online presence. A single tweet from their Twitter account is a phone brand promotion as I pointed out in past posts. There's been an increase in their sponsorship collaborations, in Soop and many of the content they've put up this year. They even turned on ads on their YT channels it seems.

Like I've been saying, this situation is global and novel, they are going to experiment with means and methods till they find that sweet spot and that is what I feel we are experiencing- amongst other things.

Unfortunately for us, our access to Jikook is gonna take a hit like I said before because the numbers are in their favor. I mean go to their YouTube page and see the metrics for yourself.

Jikook's holiday remix pulls way ahead of their counterparts. If their going to monetize any ship brand in BTS it's Jikooks. Trust. But that doesn't mean any ship in BTS is spared.

Someone asked me a while back, when I talked about this, whether all these changes the company was going through was going to affect the way Jikook interact on camera and I couldn't answer that with conviction then.

But I mean we are seeing a subtle, if not drastic change in the way Jikook interact with eachother and with their glass closet.

What that means for us, I think, is the company is going to choose when and where to show us content and certain interactions but that doesn't mean Jikook aren't interacting- know what I mean? I mean they have them. The juicy moments that's gonna make us slap our mamas. BigHit has it all. They are just gonna save it for as and when based on their marketing strategy, if you know what I mean.

I mean we all saw that blackswan performance, we all saw the holiday remix performance etc.

And you are right about the less interactions post October and I've shared my thoughts on it so I won't go into it. But I will state again that they are not broken up either, not to me. Lol.

I think we need to examine what interacting less means. To me, I consider Jikook interacting less if they have an opportunity to interact and they don't interact in a way that is usual of them.

Majority of the content we've gotten in recent times are pretty much very official contents, interviews, etc. The entire BE era, as I said is not about Jikook or even BigHit.

It's about BTS, all seven and Jikook can't monopolize the shine like they tend to do in other BigHit marketed contents in my opinion.

Jimin tried to be funny and chill in the dynamite mv and RM nearly went ninja turtle on his ass when he called him out for not taking things seriously enough during the shoot- Left to grandpa Joonie, the kids will sleep at five. Lol.

Seriously though, there is a huge gap between what BTS views as marketing and marketable and what Jikook or even BigHit views as marketing, in my opinion. And conversations like that between RM and Jimin goes to prove it.

Another interesting thing about this whole marketing approach is how BigHit isn't substituting any other particular pair in Jikook's stead. I see them giving equal screan time to the individual members- well not in a technical sense but I think you know what I mean.

Are Jikook required to be professional in certain situations, absolutely. And in previous years, I think they took too many liberties with it. But as I said, now more than ever they are learning and need to learn to read the room because they wouldn't be able to get away with much if they don't.

BE is a self produced project, after Soop- after when they were isolated to help them bond and repair fractures in their bond. If there were anything they were not happy with that led to Soop, trust that they are going to fix it post Soop and it's going to reflect in every sphere of their interactions.

RM for example has chilled on his monitoring and censorship of Jikook, Jikook have been pretty considerate of the group and have tried not to do anything to have RM pop a vein, Tae has been stepping up too- with the members going out their way to praise him and push him to the fore front of the group unlike in previous years *cough cough I don't want trouble but chilee.

I mean Jimin pointed it out in the Be behind when he said Tae was working hard and putting his best foot forward because the members had been showering him with lots of compliments in recent times and he wasn't kidding.

In the LGO comeback live, RM praised Tae for working hard forgetting it wasn't just Tae and JM's reaction was telling. Of course he backpedaled to compliment JM too.

Suga did the same thing in the Be behind video when he was talking about JM and praising him- I mean it's Suga and his Jimin, uWu. But then he too backpedaled to compliment Tae when he realized what he was doing and I was like CAN SOMEONE PRAISE KOOKIE TOO PLEASE AND THANK YOU. Lol.

Anywho, the company is equally chilling on their Jikook agenda which I have speculated on several ttimes so won't get into- it's all so very kumbaya and God, I hate it. Lol.

I feel Jlkook loosen up in contents that aren't like super official business moments and that's when you see their domesticity. Lol.
