Cleaning the Catalog of Broken CC in The Sims 1 🧹

One of the most frustrating things about custom content is finding out that one of the hundreds of items you've downloaded is broken, causing the game to crash unexpectedly. A broken item can prevent the game from opening the neighborhood screen, especially if it’s saved in a household. This happened to me when I saved the game after adding new furniture. The game crashed and wouldn’t load the neighborhood. I had to remove the household IFF file from the folder and replace it with a backup.

The game often crashes if you try to place a broken object. Before that happens, you can view the object’s description to identify and delete it. Not knowing the file name can make this tricky, but fortunately, The Sims Transmogrifier is still available and can help locate all objects in the catalog.

How I Clean My CC Folder:

First, I identify the object that caused my game to crash (or any unwanted CC) and take a screenshot. Some creators name objects after the file, making it easier to locate in the folder. If the object has no clear file name, I use The Sims Transmogrifier to search for it with keywords. Once I find it, I click "View Object" to confirm it’s the right CC, then delete it—or, to be safe, remove it directly from the Downloads folder.

I've found it helpful to review all CC and delete items I’m not using. A less cluttered catalog makes for a better experience. 🙂

When we meet TMA-Celia for the second time, she's lost her name. She was Lynne Hammond, and now she's not. She doesn't seem to remember Martin, either, but it's not clear how much of herself and her life from before the change she does remember. She's freaked out by the tape recorders that start showing up, and there's no indication that she associates them with the Institute specifically.

If Celia Ripley is, as we are clearly intended to believe or consider, the same Celia as in TMA, why is she making knowing comments about manila folders and tape recorders? Tape recorders in particular are hardly standard equipment at what seems to be mostly a text data-entry and cataloguing job. She could have said typewriters, or carbon paper. Fax machines, if we're dunking on Freddy specifically.

She says "tape recorders and manila folders." Celia Ripley is referencing The Magnus Institute, particularly the outdated technologies in use in the Archives.

Maybe she learned more from Melanie about what the recorders were and did at the Institute, sometime after MAG 190. Maybe she has those specific memories of giving her statement in MAG 100, and little else. Maybe Martin grew an apocalypse beard and she remembers everything, but just didn't recognise him out of context and in a tunnel and during A Pretty Weird Time Overall.

Maybe she stuck around with Melanie-Georgie-Basira for a while after things returned, and that's how she learned about the particular significance of tape recorders.

Maybe she found some tapes and listened to a couple hundred of them.

Or maybe she's simply an AU Celia, with a knack for oddly specific and kind of clunky comparisons, drawn into this through the powers of metafiction and string theory.

Or maybe someone filled her with spiders and sent her to finish the job of spreading Fear to this particular world.

And the reason this particular plate of textual pancakes** (short stack, butter and nightmare syrup) is one of my favourites from "Give and Take" is because I genuinely have no idea! November is the true spooky season in the northern hemisphere.**** Yeah, October ends with Halloween, but you know what month starts with Halloween? Mmhmm. By November of 2019 TMA had been on my list for a few years, and someone I was getting to know and really liked recommended it to me specifically in the days after 159 aired. The conditions were correct for me to get into something new, is what I'm saying. I still remember listening to "Anglerfish" for the first time, walking home from my office job in the blustery November dark. I got home starry-eyed and red-cheeked and thrilled by the story I'd just heard.

hi anon! i would like to point out that i'm not one of the marginalized groups being censored by tumblr (as i'm a white, american transmasc) and i recognize that i'm very privileged to not have been censored and have the ability to speak on this, with resources predominantly gathered by trans women and people of color, so in future i would reccomend you ask someone who is a victim of transmisogyny/racism by the tumblr staff. that being said, i'll do my best to educate you and point you in some good directions. if anyone else wants to add anything that i missed to this, or correct any mistake i've made, feel free to do so!

the most recent example that made site-wide news was banning the transfemme user predestrogen (also known as rita) who was undergoing transphobic harassment and mass false-reporting for sfw pictures (here's a second tumblr user i found undergoing the same kind of harassment and here's a second account of rita's experience with photomatt from a friend of hers). she reported these threats and false reports, to no avail (as a post here details matt's response to terfism), and got pissed off and made a VERY obviously joking post about the site's ceo mattphoto’s car being exploded with hammers. this was very clearly one of the absurd joke threats tumblr is known for. this resulted in predestrogen getting banned, with matt nearly calling the police on her, and furthermore, followed onto twitter by matt.

I spent 6 grueling hours researching how to protect one's photos/scans so you wouldn't have to--And these are my findings:

As the title states, I spent 6 grueling hours researching how to protect one's photos/scans in case other collectors want to protect and/or receive credit for their photos.

Once more let me emphasize THEIR PHOTOS.

Backstory:

It's not a secret that I'm quite a big collector of official Spy x Family merchandise, specifically clear file folders, stationery, and acrylic stands. I own so much, in fact, I have a tendency to own a handful of duplicates and had the crazy idea to start a small business selling these duplicates via Ko-Fi. A thought came to me that since I had already invested in a light box and a scanner for selling my merch, why not also use them to share pictures of my collection for other fans to view and appreciate?

And that was when I had sought the opinions from my good friend, @yumeka-sxf. Yumeka has been kindly posting high-resolution scans of her SxF merch (clear files, pages, etc.) on Tumblr. She is someone I also deemed as an expert when it came to uploading merch on the internet. She gave me incredible advice with awesome foresight when it came to watermarking high-resolution pictures and scans. She easily predicted what disrespectful people would do if I hadn't moved my watermarks to certain (albeit not really appealing) spots. And, just like she said, someone did attempt to remove my watermark using AI. You can read about it here. @yumeka-sxf also provided her own insight to watermarking merch here--if ya'll are interested to read.

I won't go into too much detail, but essentially they're long posts meant to educate people on why fans, who own the official merch, put watermarks on their pictures. The bottom line is, we're claiming the picture for ownership, NOT the merch.

Second, did you know that people have found ways to remove watermarks?

That gives me enough incentive as to why I want to take it a step further to protect my photos/scans.

"If I take a picture of something do I own the picture that I took?":

Yes and no. Yes as in, the picture is yours. No, because depending on your subject, it falls under numerous jurisdictions of copyright. You can find all the details in this insightful post from veteran photographers.

But since we're focusing on the topic of photos and scans of merchandise, I'd like to provide these screenshots:

And so, to re-iterate, the only thing you'll get out of copyrighting your photo is just the right to the photo--which is all I want.

The Findings:

6 grueling hours of research for protecting one's picture led me to several insightful directions--one of them amusingly brought me down a rabbit hole of how to protect one's real estate pictures. They did have some wonderful tips if you guys would like to read them!

Unfortunately, I do not own Photoshop so I could not make any edits on the metadata or create a layer that will prevent downloading the content of the picture. Preventing screenshots/right-clicking is limited to control on a website and/or can easily be canceled by plug-ins. So that just leaves me with finding something creative solutions the only tool I have: Canva (more on this later).

I spent some more time reading more journals and visited USCO (United States Copyright Office) and, finally, Pixsy.

I'm gonna be honest, USCO is THE BEST way to protect your media (merchandise, art, etc.) IF you have the money to support it.

Not only do I not have the funding for this type of service, but my photos don't exactly meet "originality" especially when the subject of the photo is copyright-protected merchandise, which means there are severe punishments for those who pursue any commercial purposes (such as selling my photos to make money rather than directing people to purchase the official work from the licensing site). And at the end of the day, I just care about the photo, itself, and receiving credit and source.

It's ridiculously simple to just credit and source a picture, and yet, it'll surprise you how many people just can't do that. This is why, I must take these extra precautions to ensure credit and sourcing.

So, I opted for Pixsy for its free plan that includes 500 images being monitored.

There's no doubt that I'll most likely invest in a monthly subscription if ever I amass beyond 500 pictures for monitoring.

Currently, it has already done an impressive job of identifying pictures I've posted with my watermarks on Ko-Fi, Twitter, and Tumblr. It has even identified reblogs/retweets.

For some odd reason, it uploads my pictures horizontally when it's normally vertical ^^; but it still gets the job done. Interestingly, it hasn't picked up my pictures from Mercari yet. I assume that if I were to upgrade to the subscription plan, Pixsy might be able to find it by then.

Procedures:

I'm sharing my procedures for protecting one's photo (and content, if applicable of course).

Step 1: Register on Pixsy. As I've addressed earlier, it's free.

Step 2: Upload HIGH-RESOLUTION pictures (no watermark) to Pixsy's database. This is probably the most accurate way for Pixsy to identify pictures of the same (or similar) "blueprint". In the picture below, I provided a screenshot of my picture without the watermark (left) with a picture they found of my picture with my watermark on it from my ko-fi shop (right).

Step 3: If you plan to upload a photo/scan with or without watermark, it is recommended to upload your image at 550 pixel image and at 72 dpi. This makes it good for the internet (see first image below). But once you zoom in, you can tell the difference in quality (see second image below).

I mentioned before that I don't have photoshop, so I experimented with what I do have: Canva.

Since I have a premium membership (indicated by crown icons), I just use the following settings:

and it gets the job done.

I am planning to upload my photos without watermarks to the Spy x Family wiki quite soon, so I did all this research to prepare for possible theft and/or the lack of crediting and sourcing--just in case. A friend of mine told me that s/he can try to ensure crediting through the file name, which is a ridiculously kind gesture, but I'm not ignorant of people who change/completely ignore file names. That's unfortunately just the way it is on the internet.

Hopefully, I've curated enough research to help protect photos/scans from possible theft (if reposting is not allowed by the owner).

I don't mind if my photos are used for reference AS LONG AS they credit me and link the source directly to the image itself (not one of those cut-corner kind of way and just link my Ko-Fi gallery). I won't tolerate laziness when it comes to sourcing considering I invested a lot of money to purchase merch and invested hours--even days--to get the best photo/scan + researched information on the merch for public access.

Sorry for super click bait title but today I found the files to an old neighborhood that I SWORE were gone for good. It’s loaded with old TS2 Exchange builds good and bad (the bad being many of my 2004-2005 era attempts to build that no one will ever see). As for the good ones, I can’t wait to share them, including some builds by GoddessByline, who was one of my very favorite builders back then.

What changed? Well a couple years ago I found old screenshots of the lots in the Storytelling folder but not the Character and Lot files. The hood couldn’t load properly without those so I thought the hood and its contents were gone for good. Turns out they were just digitally misplaced (no idea how I saved the neighborhood files in different places). But I really can’t believe my luck.

For example, this is a lot called The English Rose by GoddessByline. Clear screenshot was taken today. Blurry af screenshots from 2005ish. There is some CC missing - GB loved custom walls and floors, which were sometimes custom carpets and sometimes just recolors of EAxis stuff and are sort of visible in the old pictures - and I'm not sure I can find that, but I'll do my best to track down or replace with appropriate textures.

its no secret im not a fan of taashs 2 special/legendary armors. other than both their legendary outfits just being recolors of 2 different LoF armors (boringgg, they deserve better) i keep saying that the bikini armor does make their body smaller n ive seen ppl say its just bcs their default armor is bulky but i looked through files to compare n im pretty sure yes it does shrink some of their muscle/make them skinnier. also if u romanced them u would know those legs were definitely shrunk (even their default armor seems to shrink them a little)

screenshots n more under cut, dont wanna clog ppls dash. also spoiler warning-ish? for taashs armors n barbie lvls of nudity (everything either cut out mesh, censored or just kendolled)

im still figuring frosty out but so far i noticed that their default, casual, blue knit + deluxe armor all export w their unique body edit, while the ones shared with other factions r all using the masculine default body (despite armor mesh still being tagged/named to be unique variation for taash) while the rivaini one is the only one using the default feminine body w a slight edit to it. also only their default armor n blue knit meshes r found directly in their character folder, the rest of the meshes r found under the same folder as the faction they share it w. guessing its bcs the rest of their armors arent unique to them but appearance variations.

it also looks like all the body meshes share the same uv map n wireframe. aka i can apply taashs body tex to the extracted default rook masc/fem meshes.

i extracted all fbxs i could find related to them/their armors so first off heres the blue knit one/rivaini legendary/default for comparison. blue knit n default armor lines up almost perfectly n the visible body/skin parts for blue knit is named tagged this

n the default armor this which matches the naming of their casual outfit too.

n then the rivanis body mesh is named this

so in order blue knit/rivani/default. rivaini one is visibly different

bit easier to see when more parts of meshes removed, but rivaini one isnt using same body as the 2 others.

n now comparing taashs rivaini armors body mesh w the default feminine n masculine meshes i extracted with the standard versions of the same armor

n if i apply taashs body tex to all the bodies its a bit less noticeable, in some areas, especially if applying all the armor, but still visibly different. n in game u can get pretty far w normal maps etc, this is just matcap+diffuse in blender

n while yes the edit used for the rivaini armor is close its visible smaller which can be seen when lining up the meshes

also i swear the belly button on rivaini outfit doesnt match up w their default bodys one it sits higher n is shorter, only rlly noticed when looking at mesh w the normal map applied (rlly hard to find example in game as its barely visible on their default armor, but very clear in blender when u compare meshes)

n bcs im not fully sure how everything in frosty works n only realized after a few hours that since the shared armor sets r appearance variations n not fully unique maybe the body meshes extracted weren't correct/lacking some settings so here's in game screenshots comparing it n its a bit harder to see since their gear is in the way but its super visible when it comes to their thighs so my conclusion is yes the armor does give them a smaller frame

now i just need full mesh replacement modding to be supported so i can try n give them a better hero of the veilguard armor that actually feels like it would fit them. literally a kitbash of blue knit, default n maybe parts of the SD n LoF basic ones they have would feel more like them than the 2 we got :c

Hi!! I just wanted to ask for some clarification on some things you mentioned about your coding- Im learning python (sorta) and id like to know the reasonings?

For history, cant you just make a text file while working on the main history feature? After some fiddling around i got the game to create a text file and put event text that wasn't interactions in said file. I think it'd help since if things get bloated the player can just copy the text to a google doc and delete all previous text- the code i whipped up works fine this way. Pasting it below, idk if tumblr will fuck it up tho.

Put the declaration on line 233 (before loaded events were cleared), with game.cur_events_list as the event_list. I know theres apparently security concerns with using files or calling them but I know WAY too little to know if a txt file will send my computer into chaos. "my_file" should also be named after the clan name, and in its own folder for neatness. Using this also means history (ingame) can be deleted after x moons to prevent bloating overall? If the player still wants the deleted history, they just need to go to the text file. Should help with people who want to copy text too, since no longer will screenshots be needed!

As for prophecies, cant you make a hidden illness for a prophecy that gets added to 1-3 cats, that gets cured after x days (aka when the prophecy is fulfilled, from what I've seen in the code illnesses get cured after x days so if multiple cats get the prophecy illness they should all be 'cured' on the same day)? It'll be work to add stuff like multiple cats in a single prophecy and adding personality into the mix but it shouldn't be outright impossible, right? Grieving seems to work similarly so the template seems to be there.

Me coming into ur asks (yes theres better places for this im just anxious @ the discord channels lmao) is 100% a sign of love for the game. I also would like to know if the ideas would work or not, i am genuinely curious about if they've been considered and (if so) the reasons why they weren't implemented! Love yall :)

Yes, we could implement a history txt file but it would become very large very quickly. And while we could try and count on the player to get rid of the file if it's causing lag, there would end up being a lot of players who don't understand how to navigate files and wouldn't know how to delete the txt file. Once the file gets big enough it'll make timeskips begin to lag out as the file is opened and changed by the game, and then held open until the game is saved once again (since the file can't be saved and closed before the player saves the game, in case the player closes without saving). It'll also take up memory during this process.

Basically, it would use resources that we feel would be better allocated to handling other areas of the game.

The problem with prophecies is that there's a million different things that a prophecy could be predicting. Is it predicting a new special cat (like firestar), is it predicting something far in that cat's future (bluestar), perhaps it's predicting an illness or a disaster, maybe it predicts a lost cat returning. There's so many options and the moment that the game starts dictating the meaning of the prophecy is the moment that those options become significantly fewer.

If we do decide to dictate the 'meaning' of a prophecy, then there's the added trouble of ensuring that any cats integral to the prophecy don't get killed or permanently changed in a way that makes the prophecy stop making sense. We have begun working on an "ongoing event" system that would control events spanning over multiple moons. This will eventually be used for things like natural disasters and wars, and if we wanted to we could potentially use it for prophecies. But, as said, that poses a lot of difficulties with having to "soft lock" any cats included in that prophecy so that they only change in specific ways that make sense. This would require a ton of work to code in.

It's never impossible but sometimes it can be unreasonable, and this is a case where we feel that "real" prophecies would be unreasonable.

Project Rene Datamine MEGAPOST (+More Screenshots, Core Mechanics, Story, etc)

As per tradition, I will be leaving my feedback out of my post, and only displaying the facts.

HUGE thank you to the sims datamining community. Many notable figures in there that helped with these discoveries. Some wish to be unnamed which I will respect, and huge thank you to u/Vegetable_Ear_4141 or thesarahmilani for posting the imgur links!

For now, let's begin with the NEW info. I will be separating this post into 4 sections, similarly to the folder structure in the game files (CAS, Garage, The Hub, Live Mode, +Misc)

ALL of these elements can be seen in better detail in the screenshots associated with them. (ex. DLCs)

CAS (Create a Sim)

This is where most of the interesting stuff comes from. Though the playtest did not allow for us to create our own sims, this build actually contains a very early version of what we are going to see in Create a Sim. There's a lot of info to go through here.

TailoringHQ was the original name for the Clothing Workshop.

First look at Create a Sim (debug) (see imgur)

References to Fine Tuning, Body Frame, Body Height(!!), Clothing layering, Clothing Workshop.

Tweens are confirmed.

Within the "Char" folder, there are references to Humans and Horses.

Horses are editable in CAS. There is also a unicorn variant.

Mobility Aids. Only one at the moment for wheelchairs.

"Upper Varients" lets you customize from preset tops to your liking.

Change sleeves and collars on your shirt.

"Fat Controls" (yes, actually called that) is used internally to make body weight significantly more realistic.

"Fat Controls" go VERY in depth, ranging from all parts of the body to a heavy focus on the face.

Various Body type customization (mainly shapes and sizes).

Various Garments including bags, bracelets, socks, watches, scarfs, etc.

Possible careers include "Student", "Poet", "Gardener" and "Chef".

Garage

The Garage folder contains stuff relating to the story. The only notable things in here right now are two placeholder artworks of the (protagonists?) named Josie and Rachel.

The Hub

The Hub is essentially the area that was being playtested. It is a public space for all multiplayer and UGC related things (UGC = User Generated Content). Players can either join their friends, or select "quick play" to join a random session with random players.

It includes a "For You" section, "Marketplace", "Multiplayer", and "UGC" folders. To be clear, the hub is the only place you can matchmake and meet random players. The rest of the game can be played solo if you wanted.

Used purely just for DLC.

DLC videos will be able to autoplay, have various sizes, thumbnails, etc.

Icons for The Hub have also been uncovered, showcasing SimBucks currency (Likely MTX).

Contains everything related to MP in the Hub.

Search for Lobbies

Get notifications from others

Separate part of the game, used mainly in the Hub area.

Ability to invite other players to your Neighborhood

Kick players from your neighborhood

Invite players to a party

Ability to call other players

Mute/unmute microphone

Deafen/undeafen (similar to discord call)

The "UGC" Section (User Generated Content):

Curated user generated items

Basically "CC" becoming much more accessible.

Doesn't require you to visit external websites to download custom content anymore.

Live Mode

Files contain a rather pretty looking concept art of the city. (see imgur below)

Live mode folders contain low detail debug sim models. Most are unnamed, except for one 'Rory'.

A horse model was found in the files, however it looks to be the same one used in TS4, likely placeholder. (see imgur).

Functional metro system, used for travelling between areas.

Objects can be burnt, dirty, or covered in snow. (seasons confirmed?)

City controls, includes things like streetlamps and city lights. Interestingly, also contains references to a "Mural" and "Workshop" modes.

Sim Activity icons

Friendships have 4 levels/modes in rene: Unacquainted, Neutral, Friendly, and Close.

Every single social icon (visual icons that appear above sims' heads depending on what they're talking about; see imgur).

The Live Mode in this build is rather fleshed out in the files compared to what we saw in the playtest. Most of the core sims mechanics are present, such as sim aging and being able to control multiple sims in a household.

This section includes misc information about the game that we found interesting enough to share.

This game uses volumetric clouds.

This game uses parallax interiors.

by chance what your process in giffing? i'd be very interested in seeing how i can improve my own practicing in gif making.

I will probably answer this wrong because my brain has never functioned on how to run the process before so bear with me and once I'm on my own computer I can attach screenshots if need be just shoot me a message:

Download footage (I always download MP4 if possible)

I cut the video down into clips (between 0-20 seconds a piece)

I go into Photoshop (you can find portable options for photoshop that are downloadable if you cannot afford a subscription) and go File->Video into Layers->Select the File->Clip the scene to whatever you want it to turn into layers->Select Ok

Let the file load and hit save and exit it

Once you have all of your scenes, open up all of the PSD files. Some people are different, but you can crop it manually or you can create a new folder->new action->record->proceed with the cropping and image resizing you want done for all of the files->click save->go to the next document->HIT STOP RECORDING (This is important if you're like me and forget)->Highlight everything that is in your action and then go into the three lines at the top of your actions and find the "Duplicate"->Hit this as many times as you do. For gif packs, knowing I'll have more than 10 PSDs at a time I always have 10 in there and let it play. HOWEVER if you don't want to make an action, that's okay. There's lots of good actions out there you can download (just make sure you credit). One I found just as reference is here: gwennifergifs action

Once you have resized your gifs, begin clipping them and grab the frames you want to use and place them in a new file. DO NOT ADJUST ANYTHING. Just paste. My rule of thumb is there is no more than 140 frames per file, so if you have to split some up, split the scene up into new files

Make your second action for a timing action using the same steps above and duplicate as needed (I have it for 12 gifs). 0.04-0.07 is a good speed for all gifs depending on the amount of files.

Once you have done that, set up your colouring. I have a base gif that I adjust the levels based on the show / darkness that I use for all of mine, but again, you can always search the tags for gif colouring psds that you can use (just don't forget to give credit where credit is due).

After that, you can set up a saving action. I actually use Gwennifergifs saving action that has saved me a MASSIVE amount of time. This will seriously slice saving gifs in half, I made like 100 gifs at a time, and just keep hitting play. Again, this is an another action you'll make.

Once you have finished all of that, upload the gifs to tumblr in your preferred method (post, gif page) and bam! ✨

Entry 1.0.0-6 - Finishing Up

Welcome to my blog. I’m not tagging anything but entry #, so sorry if my unrelated mess somehow ends up in your search.

I deleted my DIM1 folder to reset and beat the dragon again, ran out of arrows so it ended up being stupidly long with me waiting for her to charge so I could actually attack. Got Overkill during the fight and brought our little egg back, ready to be broken and returned to the end.

My labyrinth is coming along nicely as well, though I scared myself shitless with a creeper - I have never turned on peaceful so fast in my life.

I've been expanding my rail that runs from the village to the end portal (with the help of a duplication glitch <3 i'm not made of gold and iron)

The rail now runs past the mountain behind my house and into the ocean a bit, but this was an amazing screenshot to be able to capture.

Plus, the view from back here is kind of crazy, og minecraft mountains go hard.

The only achievements I need now are When Pigs Fly and Sniper Duel. I just need to git gud at shooting and find a saddle.

I've cleared out basically all of the mineshaft I know of, and had no luck there. New caves seem promising.

Spider dungeon with cocoa beans, but no saddle :/

Still no dice on being a sniper, but I did manage to finally get a disc other than Cat, as much as I love Cat.

Fell off my sniper tower, rip those 80+ levels.... It's fine, now that I know the dragon isn't too bad I'm willing to fight it again when I can.

I've put together a list of goals for each version so that I don't blast past updates that add no achievements. I also want to have a little trophy for each update.

Fucking finally found a saddle, I had to go through the caves by the stronghold to find a new mineshaft.

My pig was unfortunately stupid and took too much damage, losing us the saddle.

At this point I'm convinced Sniper Duel is glitched, I've gone 56 blocks in the air, tried keeping the skeletons just at the edge of "far" render distance, and shot multiple skeletons while at these distances. I'm going to call this one "done" even if the game seems to think otherwise.

Next time, we'll be in a whole new version B)

Yes, absolutely. Though he did say "I never wanted you to have it." to Law referencing Law getting the Op-Op Fruit, he really had it completely planned for his little brother to die for him 😭 so I think the plan for Law to sacrifice his life only came to fruition on Minion Island after he found out Law is the new user - broke my heart, really. 😭

Yes, that scene with Baby 5 is so precious. I melted, so sweet. And yes, absolutely he's bonded with them to allow/be comfortable with "humans" (even tiny humans like Baby 5) touching him and the tiny "humans" crying all over him 🤣 I think he genuinely feels most protective of the girls - Monet, Sugar & Baby 5 - which is shown how he kills Baby 5's predators. I call them predators, bcs all of them really were that - predators. Baby 5 hasn't met a single genuine, normal guy who didn't want to use her for her body/beauty until Sai (according to the flashbacks of the guys shown). I think he is most protective of Baby 5 bcs of the scene you sent. It's a relationship built over YEARS, and he became more and more protective. It's clear Baby 5 went to him first for comfort or protection, and even if Doflamingo couldn't offer emotional guidance, he could be there as her shield/pillow to cry on (or leg to cry on haha). He's more of a "taps the kid on the back, picks them up and holds them close while killing those who tried to hurt his kid" communicator than a verbal communicator. Dammit, now I want to write a fic of Parental Doflamingo as Baby 5 grows up. Dammit.

In a scene in episode 731 (or 732) when he is rampaging and has killed most of the gladiators, one poor guy grabs him by the leg trying to stop him.

This is Doflamingo's reaction to that

Like he is PISSED.

So, yeah...

He is comfortable being touched by his humans, his family.

But every other dirty human, especially strangers or these gladiators who dared to go against him?

They’re dirty monkeys and he probably wants to scrub himself clean from them, they don't deserve to touch him.

Oh, I never saw that scene with Trebol as that, but now I can definitely understand it better!

Some notes: Doflamingo doesn't really move. He remains standing where he is even after the shoulder-touch, Trebol moves a bit around him and then forward to Law. He sorta just moves Doflamingo's upper body I suspect to the right so he can move around it. It's a really short scene and movement, but we don't hear any sfx of Doflamingo's footsteps to show he does move. So, yeah, he doesn't move aside, he stays right where he is.

When I first saw that I was surprised Doflamingo didn't react, not bcs of his Celestial Dragon status/mindset and the "you can't touch a god" but mostly bcs of pirate hierarchy?

As a pirate, one should not push their captain aside or tell them to move. Straw Hats are different for that cus Luffy doesn't follow pirate hierarchy, so I expected the usual, other pirate crews to follow this sort of... Rule I guess? It's more about respect than anything, I thought. I saw it as a bit of a scene where Trebol forgets who is in charge there bcs he gets ticked off by Law.

Your view of it definitely explains Doflamingo's lack of a reaction to it, really sheds it in new light for me and makes sense! Trebol wasn't forgetting himself. Trebol defended him, and Doflamingo let him! It's sort of sweet how his top officers defend him, and he can lean on them sometimes if he needs them to do the... Dirty work for him when he isn't feeling up to it and wants to laze around with a good book and some wine 🤣 and not have to explain his chosen family stuff to his enemy who is insulting his relationship with his chosen family.

He was pretty flat-faced when Law was insulting his top executives bcs he knew Law was trying to tick him off - because Doflamingo does the same.

Thank you for the wonderful addition of Baby 5, I loved that scene so much, they're so cute, my heart melted. Just seeing him protect the kids - he KILLED for Child Law when Child Law was pinned down, he cut the guy's back up completely and instantly killed him - was such a wonderful side of Doflamingo to see.

Here are Doflamingo & Baby 5 in the coloured manga where we see Doflamingo’s full body+expression here in the panel, and he is not happy someone tried to hurt his little kiddies. 🥺

I don't think anyone understands how my heart melted at one single image of Doflamingo tutoring Child Law when I saw it for the first time while watching the anime. I fckn MELTED. That scene is so dear to my heart you HAVE NO IDEA. Also, it's so dear bcs it took me by surprise that it existed, that it was drawn, that it was THERE. I was surprised and delighted and overcome by how cute it is.
