So i was outside getting high and enjoying the 20,000 bats flying over my house (not joking) and i decided to go watch a nature documentary series and these thoughts are the result.

~ I am a gremlin living in a cave made of all my things watching a documentary about caves.

~ Caves are sick!

~ I’m watching this cave doc and I’m like damn i wanna play minecraft!

~ Gypsum caves are dope.

~ Draws a little chart that upon reflection just explains that i forgot about the existence fluffy camels

~ Wild Bactrian Camels <- that is an alien

~ FUCK THE EARTH IS EPIC I DONT WANT HER TO DIE

~ Sahara desert just shows us what shape the planet is. really slowly

~ the thought of being in a sand storm makes me want to gag

~ Daang the Earth is old she has had so much time to change

~ Kangaroos literally feel radiation from the sun

~ Kangaroos are like camels

~ camel llama kangaroo bats shaped faces are aliens face shape coz they can survive in extreme conditions

~ Desert Fog is crazy

~ damn planet Earth so weird and cool and beautiful I love her

~ Evolution is so cool because it means that every creature currently alive is meant to be here in this moment because the perfect conditions made you exist

~ we have evolved to have complex thought so our ability to debate whether we should look after and cater for disabilities means we should already be doing it

(i think this was about ableists using evolution “only the strongest should survive” bullshit arguments)

~ are green aliens based on locusts

~ did whales grow so big because they eat something so small

~ I think polar bears are evolving

~ omg I’m crying they showing a bear literally give up on surviving :(

~ damn male penguins don’t eat for 4 months

~ omg the dads are reluctant to give the baby chick over to the mother

~ I think penguin chicks lost in the snow might be the saddest thing ever

I finally found out why the Laena/Daemon match made me so uncomfortable 😵‍💫

Are you really going to tell me that a little girl went from this:

In three years? 🧐🧐🧐

It makes me so upset that hotd makers really casted another actress for Laena making a 16 yo effectively look ‘elder’ and ‘grown up’ and ‘seeking’ Daemon. They’re actively feeding stereotypes about girls of color growing up faster, wanting men’s attention earlier or being ‘more developed’ than their white counterparts. Alicent and Rhaenyra, two characters who are in universe older than Laena, kept their actress after the time lapse.

Laena Velaryon’s age and appearance seems to fluctuate however it’s more convenient for Targaryen men. She’s just a cute kid when Viserys is searching for a wife, making Alicent the ‘more sensible’ choice. She’s a beautiful young woman when Daemon needs to get away from Rhaenyra for a bit. She’s a middle aged woman who’s getting boring when he needs to come back.

Also, why did they change the actress (again!) after the time lapse? Only 12 years passed, at most. And teen!Laena is 16.

Are you really going to tell me she looks 28? Don’t get me wrong, Nanna Blondell is beautiful, but she, as she should, looks her age (37). Laena didn’t need another actress for just an episode, showcase her youth and the tragedy of being a placeholder in Daemon’s life (who, btw, didn’t age a day. I’m starting to think he keeps himself youthful by feeding on little girls.)

Alas, it really bothers me. As a young woman of color, it always pisses me off whenever people find excuses to sexualize woc and especially prey on young girls. It’s even worse when big entertainment companies feed into it.

the blackwood boy is a perfect example of a team black acolyte: doesn’t respect laws (fuck the assize), invades other people’s property (he was the first one to cross bracken borders), and escalates the situation to unnecessary violence when people was just chilling before. i disliked him and his tomfoolery even before watching him in action lol.
